- 0:01The setting of Shri krishna's teaching to Arjuna on the
- 0:05battlefield of kurukshetra symbolizing.
- 0:08The Battle of life is an essential message to all who
- 0:12seek to progress in their spiritual growth and
- 0:15development. We do not normally associate a
- 0:20battlefield as the place to learn about our spiritual
- 0:23existence and Destiny. However, the need for a solid
- 0:28spiritual basis for life, is underlined and accentuated.
- 0:33When one is involved in all the activities and pressures of
- 0:38living in the world, whether facing the day-to-day struggles
- 0:42and issues that arise, or as with Arjun facing a cataclysmic
- 0:48battle with injury. Death Mayhem and concern for
- 0:52beloved family, friends and Elders in the village.
- 0:56Balance. Many Seekers work to achieve
- 0:59spiritual realizations by withdrawing for a time from the
- 1:03life of the world through Retreats, where Vision quests or
- 1:08other opportunities to leave behind the activities, that
- 1:12demand attention and pressure the individual on all levels.
- 1:17Still others seek a lifetime of renunciation, whether in a
- 1:21monastery or Cloister, or an ashram, or as a renunciate in
- 1:27the forests where the caves were the desert.
- 1:32When we look closely at these methods, however, we recognize
- 1:36that the peace achieved is oftentimes short-lived when the
- 1:40individual later returns to the outer world and its activities,
- 1:45or if suddenly confronted with pressures from that world, there
- 1:50are for instance, numerous cases of individuals erupting with
- 1:54anger or lust when suddenly faced with the Temptations of
- 1:58the vital existence that they had.
- 2:01Not to be long, mastered, and under control.
- 2:06While it may be a useful strategy initially to step back
- 2:10from the world in order to establish a basis of peace and
- 2:13separation. In the Consciousness, eventually
