- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning. So it's not what we endure, it's
- 0:33not what we put up with. It's not what shows up in our
- 0:34life. It's what we make it mean.
- 0:37And you've all heard me say this before, but today is going to be
- 0:40a reminder of this because I spent the weekend with this funk
- 0:46feeling terrible. And this was a weekend I was
- 0:49supposed to be getting a lot of stuff done.
- 0:52And it started to amp me up because 1, I had been away.
- 0:56I was supposed to come back. I was going to clean out the
- 0:59chicken coop. I was going to, you know, work
- 1:02on the newsletter coming up. I was going to do so many
- 1:05different things that I had. I wanted to go through all my
- 1:09pictures and sort them out so I could post about what we did and
- 1:13just should be able to share them with my son because he
- 1:16hasn't seen all the pictures that I took.
- 1:18Just this whole like, oh, I'll be able to do this and this and
- 1:22this and I had all the best laid plans And then I got the funk
- 1:26and I worked all week, which was totally fine.
- 1:28I, I sound terrible, but I was, I was just, I was slightly tired
- 1:34all week long, but I didn't like, you know, I didn't take me
- 1:37down. And then all of a sudden Friday
- 1:39afternoon, it really started to take me down.
- 1:42Like I felt terrible, like I had a raging sore throat and I
- 1:45started to really get gross. So immediately I make this about
- 1:52what I can't get done, which super frustrates me when that
- 1:55happens because OK, I, I'm a doer.
- 1:58I like to do things, I like to check things off my list.
- 2:01I love to be productive. And just the thought of not
- 2:04being able to get more done over the weekend was making me
- 2:08insane. So here it is Friday afternoon.
- 2:12We always, my son had and my husband and I have this ritual
- 2:16of going out on Friday night for Mexican food.
- 2:18And they're like, do you want to go out for food?
- 2:20And I was like, no, I, I just can't, you guys go.
- 2:23I just felt terrible. And so I laid on the couch and I
- 2:27actually watched TV, which is something that I don't often do.
- 2:32Maybe at night before I go to bed, my husband will say you
- 2:36want to watch a show. And we have shows that are pre
- 2:38approved for me before bed so that I don't have nightmares
- 2:41because some of his shows scare me so I can't watch them.
- 2:45But we have shows that I can watch so we can do that.
- 2:49We have a bunch of Youtubers we watch.
- 2:51I could do that, but this was like, I was just sitting there
- 2:54going on Netflix and seeing what I hadn't seen.
- 2:58And so I, I did that and I was like, OK, I'm going to feel
- 3:02great tomorrow and I'll be able to get all caught up.
- 3:05Well, guess what? That didn't happen when I woke
- 3:07up. I, I coughed all night long.
- 3:10And so you know what happens when you don't sleep?
- 3:12You don't feel well. You start to make things even
- 3:15more dramatic. And I was getting more and more
- 3:17upset that I wasn't going to get things done.
- 3:20And I realized mid Saturday afternoon that I just needed to
- 3:24take the weekend and let it go. Like I was just like, Nope, I've
- 3:27got to just shift this. I've just got to let it go.
- 3:29I've got to be willing to stay on the couch under a blanket for
- 3:3348 hours to feel better. And letting it go was hard
- 3:38because for me, I still wanted to do it for the part of my
- 3:42brain that was still like on fire.
- 3:45She just wanted to go out and do things.
- 3:46She did not want to sit on the couch, wait and do nothing.
- 3:49But it's interesting how things combined to make me go, OK, I'm
- 3:55getting a stronger message because we had rain like we have
- 3:59never had rain. Well, actually, I shouldn't say
- 4:01that. We did have it last year where
- 4:03we got, I don't know, 12 inches in 36 hours or something.
- 4:07It was insane. And our pond has been very low
- 4:11through the through the drought, through the summer and all the
- 4:13fact that we not very much lower, not like a dangerous
- 4:18level of low, but it was low and you could see probably from the
- 4:23edge like where it normally with a water line at the top down, it
- 4:26was probably a good 1314 inches low.
- 4:31And all of a sudden the heavens opened up on that Friday night
- 4:37and it just kept raining and raining and raining.
- 4:39And then Saturday it kept raining and raining and I hadn't
- 4:42even really thought about it. I was so fixated on my what I
- 4:46wanted to get done. Now, even if I was completely
- 4:49healthy, coming out and doing the chicken coop in all that
- 4:52rain is impossible because I have to take everything out.
- 4:55I have to strip it all out. I have to push it out into the
- 4:58yard so it can all break down and turn into dirt that I can
- 5:02use in plants, which is my methodology.
- 5:04I just take everything out, all the straw out.
- 5:06I put it out in their courtyard of their coop and then they can
- 5:10essentially break it all down. We all break it down.
- 5:13It turns into something amazing. And then when I plants put
- 5:16plants put it on top of plants, they go insane because it's all
- 5:19just fertilizer. So.
- 5:21I But I couldn't have been out here doing that.
- 5:23I mean, that would have been nuts.
- 5:24I would have been out in pouring rain and then it rained all day
- 5:27Sunday. And I'm like, Oh my God, look at
- 5:30this. This was all provided at such
- 5:33timing. Everything lined up.
- 5:35So I had to let it go. I had to just say, OK, what this
- 5:40means is I really needed a rest. So lo and behold, I finally got
- 5:45some sleep. I was able to get a little
- 5:47caught up. I still sound terrible.
- 5:50My voice is still cracking. But you know what?
- 5:52I got it done and I got some, I got some good quality Netflix
- 5:56time. So I'm going to make it mean
- 5:58that I must have needed it. And now hopefully this week
- 6:02we're going to kick some cold butt and get this out of my
- 6:05head. But I'm going to make it mean
- 6:07that I'm being very thoughtful about the food I'm putting in my
- 6:10body, the stuff that I'm doing. Not that I'm not doing that a
- 6:13lot. But now I'm going to really
- 6:14streamline it and I'm just going to make sure that I can get this
- 6:17gone as quickly as possible. So I hope you guys have a
- 6:21blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:23Bye.
