- 0:23SPEAKER_03: Cooking up trouble making beautiful mess.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Clap your ears and bring your laugh track friend.
- 0:30SPEAKER_03: And now here's Stephen Jeff.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Well, hey, thanks for singing us in.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: That's the Steven Jeff House Band.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you, it's so excited to have that band and great to be back in the studio tonight.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: There is so much going on.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: I so much news.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: You know, I heard I read on the way into the studio tonight.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I read that Mark Wayne Mullen, you know, the guy that they want to have take your girlfriend Christy's place.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: I I heard he got a promotion.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: He's now a half-wit.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Don't get him mad.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: He's got some issues.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: I think he really needs to show people that he doesn't have anger issues by beating the crap out of him, I think would be the the the way to do that.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: And speaking of Christy, I read something about her too.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: You know, it's like I read this editorial and it made so much sense.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: It's like, how are we as a society we're condemning Christy Gnome for having hundreds of plastic surgeries, yet we're giving awards to the Frankenstein movie for their special effects.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: She's just trying to be, you know, Frankenstein, right?
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Speaking of that, you know my favorite part of the Academy Awards is the in-memorium.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's, you know, it's my own.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: I usually turn it off after that because I it doesn't matter.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: But I thought it was a nice touch putting Christy Gnome in there for you know her career, which is dead.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: Yes, I think if there was an in-memorium for political careers, oh my goodness, that would be so much fun.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: I'd probably watch that on repeat.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: I'd take like a weekend and watch just that's all I'd do.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: I'd watch Yeah.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if you could tell, Steve, but I'm I've got a cold.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I've been sick for the last few days.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: It's that time in Florida.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: It's that time in Florida, you know, and the and the hookers and blow.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, those two.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, you know, it's easy to blame hookers and blow.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: I think Florida is really scapegoats.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and I've been with scapegoats.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Well, they're like, well, oh yeah, you gotta be careful with them.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: But here's the thing, Steve.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but the thing is, my symptoms keep getting worse.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: So I started with like uh a sore throat, and then it went to my head, like a head cold, and then my chest.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: And then Sunday night, I had this excruciating pain.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: It was like I couldn't hear anything.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: It happened about the time that Barbara Streisand sang the way we were.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: It was just around that time.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: It was this shocking pain in your ears, yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: It was it was unbelievable, Steve.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: I don't think I've ever had that before.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Um you felt like you're like your mastoids were going to explode.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: And that's not a sexual mechanism, by the way.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Your mastoids were going to explode, right?
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: But this is very exciting, Steve.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: We there's so many changes going on with the show.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Um last week we had our band really made the first technically their second appearance, but their first official appearance, I guess.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Last week we talked about the new marketing manager, Lex Lutheran, who's just gonna secularize the whole thing.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: And now we got this band, the Steve and Jeff band.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: Or I think the hip kids are calling it them the SJB.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's so cool.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the 50-year-olds, yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, those kids they're amazing.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: It seems like every day something good is happening and something new, and people are just lining up and divorcing their spouses or they're getting cosmetic surgery.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm talking looking at you, Christy.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Everybody is just so excited about what we're doing because Steve, we're winning.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, and it's you know, I think in some ways I think we're winning too much.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Too much winning, I've heard, is is a problem.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: You know, I've heard that people are tired of it.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: They're tired of it.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: They're tired of it, and they want help from other people when they're winning on their own.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: See, we've won, we've won so much that we want help from our friends to get us out of what we got into to win.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: And so we don't need them to win, we need them to you know, win.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Makes perfect sense to me.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Things are moving very fast, uh, at least well, for our show.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: They're moving kind of fast in some other areas too, and you know, generally our show is kind of going fast in a better direction, perhaps.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Actually, another thing that's moving kind of fast is the end of voting as we know it, but but I digress.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: You know, I thought I thought, you know, after introducing Lex Lutheran last week, the marketing guru, and first appearance by that band, I thought tonight it'd be a great opportunity to really uh get to know our band and introduce our band to the audience and hear some more music from them, too.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: I think you mentioned last week that my brother is their manager.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, we owe it all to your brother, yes.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: You know, it'd be great if we could get him on the show, you know.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: If we could ever do that, that'd be great.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: Jeff, you're not gonna believe it.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: You know, take a look.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go ahead and tap it, but take a look at who's on the other side of that glass.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: It's your brother Ian.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: And the Steve and Jeff band are supposed to be over there.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: I don't kind of don't see them yet, but that's your brother Ian.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Hey, welcome to the show, Ian.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, hey Bruv.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: How's it going?
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Good, good.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: It is so great to be on your show, guys.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: As you know, I've listened to all of your shows.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I am such a huge fan.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: All of your episodes really resonate with me.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I think my favorite one was uh when you guys finally, after 11 years, got to leave Korea and uh and go home.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: That that last scene where you hugged by the chopper was great.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: I hope you guys have kept in touch with radar.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: I still remember.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: I take with me that hug with hot lips.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, she was she was something else.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: But but I digress.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Well, I great to hear you're a fan of the show.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: We've done a couple about a couple hundred shows here.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Hey, we've done so many.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, we're gonna have the band on the show tonight.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't see the band.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Did you bring them or are they here?
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was gonna mention that.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: As you may know, the band did a benefit concert in Joliet, uh, where our dad is doing time.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, uh he lives there.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Um we ran into a ran into a bit of a paperwork problem.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Uh the band is being invited to stay there for a bit.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: We are uh we are very much into pop culture, and we are very much into famous TV shows and movies.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And we didn't realize that if you actually shoot somebody named JR that you actually go to jail.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: So we're we're working on getting that fixed.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And I hear that they have a studio in Joliet, so they can still record.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: And plus, it's a captive audience by every definition of that word.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Just a little tip here be careful when you go there because there's two Jerry's there's uh faux Jerry and the real Jerry.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: I get them mixed up all the time, but fortunately they're together.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So and and and speaking of confusing names, I just want to clarify here, should we be calling you Ian or Ian?
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: I was just wondering.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Wait, you're confused about what your brother's name is?
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, is this a fake brother or fobro, as the kids, those 50-year-olds would call it?
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: He he's he's the real my real brother.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: It's you know, it's just that our family always had trouble with pronunciations.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: And is it Ian or Ian?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I remember my mom had this name book, but you know, it wasn't phonetically spelled out, so you kind of pronounce that anyway.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: You know, that's that you'd want.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: And I remember when my daughter Erin was born, uh, my mom looked it up and she was looking it up under male names, and it was she found Erin.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: And I remember for Erin's whole life, she kept saying, Now, are you Aaron or Aaron?
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: She kept saying, How come you how come you can't hit home runs?
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: What's wrong?
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: Right, that's right.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: So, but anyway, so that's why I'm asking.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: You know, Ian is fine.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: You know, Jeff, we probably should have known that dad was gonna have problems.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure if you remember when we were kids, we took that trip to Iowa, and uh those dead baseball players came out of the field and we were having fun, and at the very end, I think you said, Dad, you want to have a catch?
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: And you threw him a baseball, and when he threw it back to you, it was stolen merchandise.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: And he took off running.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So it kind of messed up our our vacation.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: So I'm not really surprised at him like that.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: But any uh anyhow, getting back to it, yes, Ian uh is fine.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Uh that that sounds good, Ian, Ian, Ian, whatever.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Thanks for getting us too the band bios and and some of the tracks that we can play to get to get to know the band a little better because we've loved their music so far.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's my pleasure.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: My pleasure.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: So now it says here on on this fact sheet in these bios here that the band started with four members.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Started with four members named uh John, Paul, George, and Dingo.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: Boy, that's wild.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: It says also they're all from Urbana, Illinois, and they met in first grade at Flossy Wiley Grade School.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: They all had Miss Banner.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Uh I did too.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I think everybody has had Miss Banner at one time or another.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know if there are little banners running around or not, but I had Miss Banner too, and Steve, didn't you?
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, everybody had a Miss Banner.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, I had Miss Banner too.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Well, I didn't have her.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: You know, I was in her class now.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: You know, come on, let's not.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: I don't want rumors to start here, you know.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: So now with this group, now when when did they actually form the band and do their first performance?
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: That's such a great question, Steve.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: This really didn't happen until second grade.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: I was very fortunate to watch them mature.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: They were called the Band-Aids then, uh, as they were called.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And they wrote and sang uh their first original song, which is called I'm Not Napping Anymore, which is kind of a a protest song.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: But but to be fair, Steve, these boys were held back so many years that they were the only second grade band that I'm aware of that not only went through puberty while still in second grade, uh, but I believe the only band that could drive themselves to their own gigs.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And I think that that was something that was really, really important for us.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Well, and I think it got complicated because I'm not napping anymore.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: They would say that in in kindergarten, but they were actually eight years old.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: So they they really didn't want to nap anymore because they were too old.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: So, but is there any chance we could uh listen to that song?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, absolutely.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Uh actually it reminds me that the flip side of the record is I love pizza Fridays.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, who does?
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, you know, Ianna just had dinner, so why don't we listen to the protest song first?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Let's go with that one.
- 10:55SPEAKER_05: After snack, you say nap.
- 10:58SPEAKER_05: Your rules are just a booby trap.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: We're not napping anymore, we're not napping anymore.
- 11:05SPEAKER_05: Hey, we're wide awake on the classroom floor, we're not napping anymore.
- 11:11SPEAKER_05: You think we're doing it to scare it, but we're the rising proletariat, and we're not napping anymore, we're not napping anymore.
- 11:20SPEAKER_05: You're a proper We do what we want.
- 11:26SPEAKER_05: Hey, we've got groupies from two starts to not napping anymore, we're not napping anymore.
- 11:38SPEAKER_05: Hey, we're wide awake on the classroom floor, we're not napping anymore.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: What a song.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Really, really well done, don't you think, Steve?
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, that was so well done.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: They really captured the voice of juvenile rebellion back in the day.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: So then it it it looks like after that, by sixth grade, they had added a female singer, which they they still have, you know, an extra singer in the group today.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: I'm looking at the band picture now.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: What what's what's her story?
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so her name was uh Fiona.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Um everyone in the band called her Yo-Yo.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: She only stayed with the band until they entered eighth grade, which ironically was 17 years later.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: And so it's interesting because you know, when they started out, they sounded like uh a young Michael Jackson in the Jackson 5, and by the time they got to eighth grade, they were more like a mature Marvin Gaye during the Vietnam War era.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And I think it was one of those things that we all kind of bonded with.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: And eventually we had to uh make a decision about uh about yo-yo.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: And I'm looking at that picture of Yo-Yo, and you know, she's quite a looker.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: You know, it reminds me we need to send a picture of Yo-Yo to the king because you know, he he likes to support the youth in every way he can.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: So he he really likes to reach out to the kids, you know.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: So when when did Yo-Yo leave the band?
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Well, she ended up entering her first beauty pageant, but because she was eligible for because she was eligible for Medicare at the time, we didn't feel it was a great fit, and so things went a different direction for her.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's a lot of that going around where people go into beauty pageants and wind up, you know, all kinds of different places.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: So who knows where.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: Now, at this point though, it looks like the band had given up on politics and they had become, yeah, say more of a grunge style garage band, really, which, you know, following kind of the trends of the time.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: They also changed their name, it looks like, to the Steve Miller band.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Now, that can't be the same Steven Miller that's in the White House, because if it was him, it'd be called the Steve Miller Bund.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: But but I digress.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Was there someone named Steve Miller in the band?
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, the Steve Miller band is a well-known, I mean, was there a Steve Miller in the band?
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: I gotta come clean.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: We we didn't plan ahead when we did that.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: Uh no, there was not a Steve Miller in the band.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: And that was a problem because we kept it introducing ourselves as that, and after giving refunds for I don't know how many shows, we decided to change the name to something more generic like the Beatles.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and that makes sense too, except for the fact that you weren't the Beatles, so that sounds confusing to me.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no, but Jeff, not at all.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: It was with two E's, T H E E Beatles.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, that makes a whole lot more sense.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, and and it looks like there's a song that that they did, I think it became pretty popular.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: It was it called Sex Is Good?
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: You know, can we hear a little bit of that?
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no problem.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: We uh we based this off of uh Marvin Gaye once again during his sexual healing period.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: We just changed the healing to is good and we uh re-recorded it there.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: So hopefully we won't uh get in trouble with the estate.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 14:44SPEAKER_03: I like sex.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: That's why I formed this stupid band with these music correct.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: Feels like a really fit.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: It's all I need.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: Well, it's just a couple of days.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Oh man, what a great song.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: That's like strike zone grunge.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: There's and a lot of subtle and deep meaning in that in those lyrics, too.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: Their style in the present day, uh, they've kept evolving.
- 17:04SPEAKER_02: They're not resting on their laurels, they keep changing their style and they keep reaching out to new audiences, and their style in the present day seems like it's changed again.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: They tried different musical genres, and uh it looks like they're getting back into political issues, maybe more protest types of songs.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and Steve, this this is a really productive band.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: You know, we had the two songs from last week, and you know, I love those.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: And now we've got a couple more songs that are amazing, and and they're in prison.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: So I'm I mean they're in in the condo.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: So, but when they get out, I I just can't imagine how productive they'll be then.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: Well, they're probably like just visiting, you know.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, for sure.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: No, Steve, they're incarcerated.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: But you know, it should be it should be fun, and just let you know, let me know, bro.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: You need anything else.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Uh, as our way of thanking you for this unique opportunity.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, here's a song they just wrote and recorded in the laundry room of the prison, just for you.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: It's called The The Wreck of the Strait of Hormoose.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, the B side is called Don't Bend Over for the Soap.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: Wow, I think we gotta hear it.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Let's play it.
- 18:11SPEAKER_04: There's a tale they tell about a man born in hell who needed to feel like a big shot.
- 18:20SPEAKER_04: He caught all his toadies from incels to bronies, and told them they'd soon get a jackpot.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: We'll get all their oil, blow up all their topsoil, and then we can get some more tattoos.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: The world says we're bad, just like drunk undergrass, but we'll close up the whole straight of home.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: It'll be up with all of his foods will be feeding into his vanity.
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: It'll be a great show.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: It's great to know when we create no infinity.
- 19:22SPEAKER_04: Remember well, the financial hell when we ready all straightforward.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: What a song.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: God.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: It really makes you think.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: So so now where can people get this?
