- 0:25career that I listen. I just heard it's going really
- 0:27well. So we might never get him back.
- 0:30I wonder if Jake is actually listening to these episodes and
- 0:33like has no idea what's going on.
- 0:34But if you're listening to this, ping ping Jake in the discord or
- 0:38leave some comments on our Instagram or wherever and be
- 0:41like proud of you Jakey for pursuing your dreams.
- 0:44And I hope they karaoke career works out.
- 0:46He'll be so confused. It'll actually be hilarious.
- 0:48That would be amazing. But welcome into our week 12 buy
- 0:53low sell high trade target episode.
- 0:57This is my favorite episode to record.
- 0:58We say it every week. Listen, we are, we are trade
- 1:01addicts. We need to go to TA, oh wait, TA
- 1:08trade, Trade Addicts Anonymous. Don't think it's just TA, it's
- 1:12not like a trade. Anonymous traders.
- 1:15Anonymous. No, but it's Alcoholics
- 1:18Anonymous. I guess it's in one word, yeah.
- 1:21So OK, fine TA I think. ATA.
- 1:25So we just we just made it up. You're you guys are all part of
- 1:27the TA group now. So whether you.
- 1:29Like everyone, I'm Josh and I'm a trade addict.
- 1:33Josh is the biggest trade act I've ever met in my entire life.
- 1:36Josh will ruin relationships for trades.
- 1:40That's what he's willing to do. Just to to should happen.
- 1:43There's such a rush from pulling off a trade, like, it doesn't
- 1:46even have to be like. I'm I'm, I'm, I'm putting it out
- 1:51there like Josh, there's a lot of trees that Josh has been
- 1:53saved from himself because he's too addicted to training.
- 1:57There's a lot of trades that I think we look back and we're
- 1:59like, we were trying to make a trade happen with a manager.
- 2:02And then, you know, they're like, you know, they don't wanna
- 2:04make it happen. And then you look back a month
- 2:06from now and it would have been a huge L for.
- 2:08Yeah, absolutely. I remember almost trying to
- 2:10trade. This was like a month and a half
- 2:12ago. I was trying to say like Eric
- 2:13Carlson for Victor Hedman and I was giving Eric Carlson plus.
- 2:18And this was like, you know, when Hedman is really bad, I've
- 2:21just got bumped off and now he's heard for months.
- 2:24And if that trade goes through, my team is in a lot worse spot.
- 2:27So sometimes we just need to be safe from ourselves.
- 2:28But a lot of. Times I was sending like a trade
- 2:31offer to someone and he was like, I don't know, whatever.
- 2:34And then I scrolled up and are like text chat and it was just a
- 2:38bunch of like screenshots of trade offers I sent him over the
- 2:40year. And I looked at every single one
- 2:41and I was like, dude, every single one of these trades I
- 2:43sent you this year would have been a huge one for you.
- 2:46It's selling tactic. It's been like this is.
- 2:49It didn't work, but still. I almost messed up my whole
- 2:52season. You still have the chance to do
- 2:54that for me, Take these guys off my.
- 2:56Absolutely, yeah. But let's let's get into the
- 3:01real. Of course I don't know of.
- 3:02Course, of course, but listen guys, if you're not already
- 3:05following us on all the social media platforms instead, TikTok,
- 3:09everywhere else, make sure you drop us a follow.
- 3:12You'll be following our content. We're posting a lot on YouTube.

- 3:27actually really does mean a lot. Helps us reach new, new, new
- 3:30listeners as well, which is really cool to communities
- 3:31growing. But yeah, all the episode you're
- 3:34listening to or actually video episodes on YouTube as well.
- 3:37And in the new year, we're gonna try to up our YouTube game, have
- 3:39some cool overlays and stuff. So you can look forward to that.
- 3:42But in the meantime, you just have to be content with looking
- 3:44at Josh and I's face. And then maybe Jake will be back
- 3:47in the new year. We'll see.
- 3:48But no, he will definitely be back because he sucks at
- 3:52karaoke. And.
- 3:54So yeah, leave a comment on YouTube, like subscribe, all
- 3:58that good stuff, join the discord, the link is everywhere
- 4:01once again if you have trouble finding.
- 4:03It behind you. The link is probably there.
- 4:05Yes look behind you look under your seat.
- 4:08The link is there, but the discord community is growing.
- 4:10It's really fun. I feel like I give a spoiler
- 4:12episode, but like it's definitely worth it like join if
- 4:14you're not already in there and you'll have a lot of fun and
- 4:17yeah. So let's get into the two weeks
- 4:19update and then we're gonna get into three, buy low
- 4:21opportunities for you and three sell high opportunities for you
- 4:24that Josh and I highlighted. But listen, let's see how our
- 4:27our picks from 2 weeks ago went. OK, I'm gonna say I'm gonna
- 4:31start this off. Preface this by saying that I
- 4:33think this is the Best Buy low two weeks ago update that we've
- 4:37ever had, and we've had some really good ones.
- 4:39But this is like, this is like immediate return on investment.
- 4:42Like you made the trade and when we told you to and you're
- 4:44laughing. So let's dive.
- 4:46Into also little tidbit I we got our first comment on Tiktok
- 4:51about somebody being like profit ache.
- 4:52Did you mean preface? And like, it's just, we're
- 4:57getting to the point now where like, we're, we're hitting the
- 4:59mainstream, mainstream media and the people don't understand
- 5:02their inside jokes and we're gonna get roasted for them.
- 5:04So that's really fun. But once they become fans,
- 5:07they'll realize that it's intentional.
- 5:09So it's. All on it, no?
- 5:11Exactly. I love having inside jokes with
- 5:13the viewers. It's great.
- 5:14That's actually, that was actually a highlight from our
- 5:16first year when we were really small and, and I was making the
- 5:19weekly Reddit posts like with the with the streamers and all
- 5:22that. And someone commented, like I
- 5:25had recommended, like, Jackson Lacombe doing good, commented
- 5:27like, did you know he used to be a forward, you know?
- 5:29And I was like, Oh my God. Forward exactly.
- 5:31Look over these actually. Former forward.
- 5:33Yeah, exactly. That was one of our good classic
- 5:35jokes from last season. So it's great seeing people
- 5:38getting into it. I love it.
- 5:39But yeah, let's get into this. Two weeks ago update, our bylaws
- 5:42were Tim Stutzel. Since then, six games played,
- 5:45four goals, 6 assists, 10 points.
- 5:48You cannot ask for a more immediate turnarounds.
- 5:50When I recommended him two weeks ago, he was at .7 points per
- 5:54game on the past month. The PowerPoint wasn't clicking,
- 5:56nothing was going right, and then he just absolutely blew up
- 6:00and we called it like this is This is why you listen to this
- 6:02episode and This is why you go out and target the guys we tell
- 6:04you to. Hmm.
- 6:06So this was a massive, massive win.
- 6:08Then we had Zach Hyman since then, seven games played, six
- 6:12goals, two assist, eight points, another explosion.
- 6:15He was doing so poorly when we recommended him two weeks ago.
- 6:18This is another one. If you pulled that off, you're
- 6:20laughing. The one thing with being so
- 6:22successful with these two weeks ago update is that the window
- 6:24closed so fast. So I hope people were able to
- 6:27pull it off. And lastly, we had Erasmus
- 6:29selling and since then, five games played, two goals, 6
- 6:32assists, eight points. I mean, these stats speak for
- 6:34themselves for all three of these guys.
- 6:35These were like the most immediate like you had like this
- 6:38span of time from when we really started episode till like snipe
- 6:41these Vilos. But if you did, you're
- 6:43immediately. Rewarded.
- 6:44It's it's it's actually crazy. So listen, we're going to go
- 6:47through some targets today and it might be, it might feel a
- 6:50little ambiguous for you because you like this guy is doing so
- 6:53well on my roster, but then you're able to flip him for this
- 6:55massive talent that is underperforming that you might
- 6:59see, you know, the dividends pay immediately.
- 7:01Like we were telling you guys to sell like Rasmus Andersson there
- 7:04and radish for Rasmus Dahlin. And that was a feasible target
- 7:07at the time 2 weeks ago, obviously, like looking back
- 7:09like, oh man, how did that ever get done?
- 7:12But fantasy is played in weekly increments and every week is
- 7:16kind of like its own little, its own little like vacuum of value.
- 7:20And that's. Why?
- 7:20You're able to cause them if you will.
- 7:22Yeah. Oh, damn.
- 7:24Alright, we're getting scientific here.
- 7:26But if you were able to make moves like that, like you're
- 7:28laughing now when we want you guys to buy Zach, I mean, you
- 7:31could have sold guys like Vilardi Bertuzzi, who we've
- 7:34highlighted since then, like with no Bedard is much worse.
- 7:38And if you were able to trade guys like that, like, it's just
- 7:40incredible what you could have. Done.
- 7:42Yeah, let's get to Horseheads were from 2 weeks ago.
- 7:45These are a bit more ambiguous, but actually still big wins.
- 7:47So we had Jason Robertson since then, seven games played, four
- 7:51goals to assist, 6 points. Now let me say first of all, he
- 7:54put up a three-point game last night.
- 7:56If he hadn't done that before that, it was 3 points and six
- 7:58games. So that would look a lot nicer.
- 8:00But regardless, under point per game, when we recommended two
- 8:02weeks ago, he was at like almost 2 points per game.
- 8:05He was our points. He was at 1.67 points over the
- 8:08last month, two weeks ago recommended this yeah, 667 for
- 8:13everybody that's on YouTube or not on YouTube.
- 8:15And he was at 0.6 power play points and he was averaging
- 8:19almost four shots a game. This was this was two weeks ago
- 8:22and that was his monthly status. Yeah, and now he's under the
- 8:27past two weeks since we recommended him under point per
- 8:29game and the power play is way lower.
- 8:31And it's just like what we had said at the time, I was never
- 8:35saying that he's gonna become a pumpkin.
- 8:36And you know, like is a guy. He wasn't one of those guys that
- 8:38like, get off your roster. It was just the value was there
- 8:41and you could take advantage. So I hope everyone.
- 8:43Did we told people to sell for Austin Matthews?
- 8:46David Pasternak. Target a target low.
- 8:49We were telling people to aim for like top five picks in the
- 8:51draft and it was doable. So it's a I.
- 8:54Reached Robertson for Matthews two weeks ago.
- 8:57Yeah, and I know people might see that and think like, oh,
- 8:59Matthews is washed, like he sucks.
- 9:00Like the not all the bylaws kick off right away.
- 9:03You know, they're not all like from our the ones we just
- 9:05mentioned two weeks ago, you know, some of them take some
- 9:07time, but it's, it's still a great win.
- 9:09Um, OK, then we had John Carlson.
- 9:11Since then, four games played, one goal, 3 assists, 4 points,
- 9:15only one power play point. I know this looks like it's
- 9:17like, oh, he's keeping it up and all that, but he still doesn't
- 9:20have power play 1 and he's still overperforming.
- 9:23So sometimes the cell high is, you know, again, they don't
- 9:25immediately, the window doesn't immediately close.
- 9:27If anything, sell them high just like we recommended two weeks
- 9:30ago. The fact that he still he's
- 9:32still not on PP1, it just goes to show that this is like still
- 9:36somebody that really want to ship off my roster as soon as
- 9:38possible. This is not going to hold up.
- 9:40Absolutely. And then we had Esper Walstead
- 9:42since then only played three games.
- 9:44He had two wins, .907 save percentage and 2.7 three goals
- 9:48against average. But he's playing every 3rd game
- 9:50now. When we recommended him, it was
- 9:52a clear tandem back and forth. He had four shutouts in six
- 9:54games. Four shots of the six games,
- 9:57guys. 4 shutouts in six games. Yeah, I think you're gonna tell
- 10:00everybody was talking about him. He is the best goalie in fantasy
- 10:03now blah blah. Absolutely, and we're
- 10:05recommending some really high targets.
- 10:06Yep. So now that he's playing every
- 10:083rd game, I think it's gonna be a lot harder to try and sell
- 10:11high on him because even though the quality, that's it, the
- 10:14quality is still there. Minnesota is an unbelievable
- 10:15team. The goalies are really good.
- 10:17But if you're playing every 3rd game like you're barely
- 10:20restorable, honestly, like one start a week Max on A2 game week
- 10:23you could get 0 starts. That's that's not someone I'm
- 10:26too super happy to have, so I really hope people sold high on
- 10:29him when he had the chance. And if and if you were listening
- 10:31to our episode, like we said two weeks ago, some of the targets
- 10:33we highlighted, like you could have Vasilevsky, you could have
- 10:36got Hella Buck, who was still hurt at the time, right?
- 10:38And then he came back like snapping the fingers.
- 10:40It was like his skating. He's back tonight actually.
- 10:43So that was really surprising. And if you were able to pull
- 10:46that off, like you're laughing. So it always feels bad in the
- 10:48moment, like you're holding a guy.
- 10:50You just picked him off waivers. He got 4 shutouts in six games.
- 10:53You're like, Oh my God, I just picked up like the league
- 10:55winning goalie. Do I even want hella buck at
- 10:58this point? It sounds so crazy to say after
- 11:01the fact, but when you're in the moment it's really hard.
- 11:03But you just gotta trust your gut and look at the numbers and
- 11:05trust the process. Guys always trust the process.
- 11:08These always work out. Absolutely.
- 11:10I mean, like, I have like a little Excel model that I built
- 11:13for fantasy hockey and it just pulls the season averages and
- 11:16every time I make a trade, my team gets worse in my model.
- 11:20My model hates me. And that's because when you buy
- 11:22low and sell high, you're trading for guys who had worse
- 11:24averages than the ones you're selling.
- 11:26But overtime in the future, it's gonna end up being the opposite.
- 11:29So it is funny to saying that I built a model that that hates
- 11:33me, but it kind of feels that way sometimes.
- 11:35Josh is always complaining about his model.
- 11:37He's like, my model has me losing every category this week,
- 11:39and then somehow he wins every category every week.
- 11:42So then you're like, hmm, maybe you should change the model,
- 11:44Josh, I don't know. I like I'd rather expect to lose
- 11:46and then win than expect to win and then lose.
- 11:49When you expect to lose and lose, you're like what am I even
- 11:52doing here? Actually that means the models
- 11:54working maybe. So yeah, exactly.
- 11:55It's a win, win regardless. All right, let's go into our
- 11:59bilos for this week. I'll get us started off with
- 12:02Clayton Keller of the Utah Mammoth.
- 12:06So over the past month, Colours averaging .75 points per game,
- 12:10.25 probably points and three shots.
- 12:12This is slightly lower than his season average, but last year he
- 12:15is at 1.11 points per game, .46 power play points and 2.7 shots.
- 12:19So Colour broke out in his fifth full season in the NHL in 2021
- 12:24and since then, over the past the last Four Seasons, he's
- 12:27always been a .9 to 1.1 points per game player and he's done it
- 12:30on way worse teams. In the one he's currently on.
- 12:32His shooting percentage this year is 10.8%.
- 12:35Over the past four years it's 15.1.
- 12:37That's a 4.3% difference. That's significant.
- 12:40Utah's power play is also ranked 25th this year versus 10th best
- 12:44last year. And they started off the season
- 12:46really hot, so we know they can do it.
- 12:48The team has only gotten better since last year and all the top
- 12:50guys on that team are currently underperforming or injured like
- 12:53Logan Cooley. I expect Colour to easily finish
- 12:56the season with a point per game and around .35 power play
- 12:58points. So it's a great time to buy.
- 13:01Disclaimer Utah does have a two game week in the finals week 23,
- 13:04so the way I would play this is out of choir quick.
- 13:06Keller for cheap right now. Wait for him to heat up and then
- 13:09flip him near the trade deadline for someone who's a better
- 13:11playoff schedule but who is way better than who you sent to get
- 13:13him. So in general, like with the
- 13:16playoff schedule, you know, it's scary to acquire a guy with a
- 13:18bad playoff schedule. But if the value is there, you
- 13:20got to take the value and then see what you can do with it.
- 13:24Some targets, I've got Carter Verhaeghe, he was highlighted
- 13:26last week as a cell high. That's a no brainer.
- 13:29Nazem Kadri, also one of our cell highs from last week gave
- 13:32Velardi put a put a nickel in the in the majority after this.
- 13:36But he's been on fire. And I would definitely prefer
- 13:39Keller, Ryan Nugent, Hopkins as well and then Brandon Hagel.
- 13:43I think the injury makes things a bit more murky, but assuming
- 13:47he comes back healthy soon then I think with how people are
- 13:50playing you can possibly get colour plus for Hegel.
- 13:52And I still think people value Hagel pretty highly.
- 13:55Like, yeah, the injury is the injury is tough, but people are
- 13:57not like the sentiment that I'm seeing is people are just upset
- 14:01of Florida keeps injuring Hagel as opposed to Hagel keep getting
- 14:04hurt. Yes, exactly.
- 14:05I think that kind of plays into your favor in terms of this
- 14:08injury and him maintaining value while being hurt.
- 14:10But like you said, I think you can get Keller plus.
- 14:12So I would say make it a 2 for two.
- 14:14If you're giving Brandon go, get Keller and have that be
- 14:17perceived as like a downgrade from Hagel to Keller and then
- 14:20that potentially is a long term upgrade for you.
- 14:23And then also get another upgrade on the side as well.
- 14:25I think that's the best way to play that.
- 14:26But all these targets, I completely agree with them.
- 14:28I think my favorite, if you can flip Verhaeghe or Gabe Vilardi
- 14:32for Keller, I think those are slam dunks, even Kadri.
- 14:34But I think with Kadri you can aim maybe slightly higher than a
- 14:37guy like Keller and maybe want to use Kadri as a piece and a
- 14:40trade like that. But like, nonetheless, if you
- 14:43have to make me choose one guy rest of season, I'm choosing
- 14:44Clayton Keller. So exactly everything you said I
- 14:47think is shooting percentage is going to regress.
- 14:49Like we have enough of a sample size to know how good of a
- 14:51player Keller is for this Utah team and what we can expect for
- 14:55him to do rest of season. And I really want to capitalize
- 14:58on that. And like you said, trade for him
- 14:59now, get him for cheap and then flip them for an even better
- 15:02asset after it has a better playoff schedule.
- 15:03I think it's a no brainer. All right, Kevin, who you got
- 15:06for us? Let me take a simple water cause
- 15:09I'm about to go on a spiel. Alright, I'm excited for this
- 15:15all. Right.
- 15:16My choice for my Week 12 BI Lo is none other than a guy we
- 15:21touted the whole offseason that if you got on your team, you've
- 15:24probably been pretty happy thus far.
- 15:26But it is Kirill Marchenko of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
- 15:31He was in our league. I think he got drafted in like
- 15:34double digit rounds. No, no, he got drafted in.
- 15:37The same line? No.
- 15:38Was it 6? Yeah, he got drafted once after
- 15:40I picked. Yeah, I'm probably thinking of a
- 15:42different league, but like you want to double digit around a
- 15:45lot of leagues. I got him in the 14th round in
- 15:46some leagues, which is pretty nuts because the Yahoo ADP was
- 15:49just so low. But Marchenko was averaging 0.4
- 15:53points per game over the last month when he's on the season, a
- 15:560.9 points per game player. Last season he showed he can get
- 16:00close to a point per game. Two.
- 16:01He was at like .94 point 96 last season.
- 16:03His shots are still super great. He's got three shots a game and
- 16:06that has stayed consistent throughout his whole season.
- 16:09Even through this last slump, he's still shooting three shots
- 16:11a game. The important thing to note,
- 16:13though, is that he did miss time, and Columbus in general
- 16:16has been in a rut that led to this decline.
- 16:18It's like the whole team is kind of struggling right now.
- 16:20They can't win games. They have so many third period
- 16:23chokes. I'm a Jed Grieves owner and I've
- 16:26felt this like to my core because it feels like every time
- 16:29I'm watching a Columbus game, they're up like 2132 and there's
- 16:325 minutes left and they end up losing like 4-3 in overtime.
- 16:34And it's honestly demoralizing. But what I do love about
- 16:37Marchenko though, is requiring a very talismanic player.
- 16:41Like we talked about this on a, I think it was a few episodes
- 16:45ago, it was a Hot topic or mailbag episode and somebody
- 16:48asked us if how many talismanic players are there in the league.
- 16:52And I think this lesson you would expect like the talismanic
- 16:55players, not just the best player on the team, it's the guy
- 16:57that like it's. A big deal, A big talismanic
- 17:00gatekeeper. I do gatekeeper talismans so,
- 17:04But Kirill Marchenko is a talismanic player for the
- 17:08Columbus Blue Jackets. And when you can acquire a
- 17:10player like that, it feels like they have such a high, high that
- 17:13when they're all, when they're clicking on all cylinders like
- 17:15the ceiling can be. If watching on YouTube, I'm
- 17:19going up um, but I expect that when he gets up and running
- 17:23again and there's no doubt in my mind that he will be up and
- 17:25running again. The whole team will be on the
- 17:27come up and it just gives more success to everybody.
- 17:30And another encouraging sign through this slump is that even
- 17:34though his point production over the last month, guys month
- 17:37that's 30 days is at 0.4 points per game, 0.4.
- 17:42That's abysmal. That means he's not even getting
- 17:45one. That's worse than two games.
- 17:46It is you can stream like .7 points production on off
- 17:49waivers. So he's at .4 and this is the
- 17:52guy that is shooting a lot is the best player on his team.
- 17:55He's just not delivering right now.
- 17:57But even when he's at .4, his power production is still there.
- 18:00It's at .3 around there. And that's been it's been at
- 18:03that level the whole season. So that tells me it's like, OK,
- 18:05it's not the power play that's the issue, which is already a
- 18:07great foundation to have for a fantasy asset.
- 18:10And it's also like what we're always looking to acquire.
- 18:12We're looking to acquire, you know, power Play 1 assets.
- 18:16It's a 5V5 production right now that's really struggling.
- 18:18And they're mixing the line combination to trying to get
- 18:20something that works again. But I think it's just a matter
- 18:24of time until it happens again. And look who's coming to say hi
- 18:27if you're on YouTube. Little troublemaker.
- 18:32My cat. No, she doesn't.
- 18:36Fruit lovers out there. But I think listen, Marchenko to
- 18:39finish my point is very acquirable right now.
- 18:43I think he still has the not the stink, but like last year was
- 18:47his first year breaking out. So I feel like people have in
- 18:50the back of their minds like was it a one year wonder type of
- 18:52thing, which it clearly is not. We're telling you it's not.
- 18:55But if you could trade guys like, I mean, I don't want to
- 18:57just reish rehash all the same targets that Josh listed for
- 19:01Keller above. But there are similar types of
- 19:03guys that you're requiring high shot volume, guys that are hover
- 19:06around point per game. But if you can trade Kadri
- 19:08again, I would love that. Verhagen.
- 19:09Still, we're highlighting Vega a lot because he is the guy that I
- 19:12want to get off. Roster time, like I'm selling so
- 19:15hard. Guys, when you're listening to
- 19:16this, it's the weekend of December 20th.
- 19:20No, you're listening to this on a Monday.
- 19:22Sorry, we're recording this right before Monday.
- 19:25Um, but Matthew could Chuck is on the verge of coming back.
- 19:30I think he's targeting like a December 28.
- 19:33I think is the, the date that I heard him talking about on his
- 19:36podcast that he wants to come back.
- 19:38That means you have like a few days before we see him
- 19:40practicing in line rushes and everything like that.
- 19:43If you miss this window on very, you're going to be so upset
- 19:45with. Yourself, let's put it.
- 19:46Let's put it this way. If you're in our discord, I
- 19:49don't want you to have Rahegi by the new year.
- 19:51Yeah, and it would come to us. We'll give you, you know, tell
- 19:54us what teams you're targeting. We'll find you the perfect
- 19:56targets. But I don't want anyone in our
- 19:58Wenger management discord owning for Hagee's going into the new
- 20:01year. Yeah.
- 20:03So I really hope, I really hope you're able to pull that off.
- 20:06I think Brandon Russ, Brian Rust is still one of the best guys
- 20:10that you can trade for Marchenko and Brandon Hagel.
- 20:13From all these mango plus for that.
- 20:15Yeah, absolutely. He's been so bad right now guys,
- 20:17you can get more. So I really this is a guy that I
- 20:19really want to try to acquire. If he was on a different team in
- 20:22our league of record, I'd be sending offers.
- 20:24But I think there's listen, the best days might not be right
- 20:28ahead of you, but he's a clear by low right now and I want to I
- 20:32want to get him on my team. Yeah, I mean, like you think
- 20:35about like an exam, not the same because Martin is a much better
- 20:38player, but you think about a guy who it's taking it took a
- 20:40while after the buy low, but then it's picking up now.
- 20:43Is Kevin picked traded for Dorothy of like a month ago and
- 20:47he was playing like he's playing playing like a drop for three of
- 20:50those weeks. But now he's all of a sudden on
- 20:51the up and up and that's it. Like some of these are slow
- 20:54burns, you know, but in the end they pay off.
- 20:56So so but marching. I don't expect to take as long
- 20:59as a starter failed to turn it. On and it's also like yeah, we
- 21:02were highlighting the rave as a by law a month ago and in a lot
- 21:05of leagues like he was drop worthy because you know you're
- 21:08not playing in the deepest of leagues and he's the worst guy
- 21:10in roster and it's been like that for a while.
- 21:12But The thing is when you're acquiring these BIOS, you're
- 21:14also paying to buy low price because what's the point of
- 21:18trading a guy that's gonna be equally as good when the other
- 21:20guy starts bouncing back like you're trying to capitalize on
- 21:22the lower value because you should like the guy is not worth
- 21:25as much. It's not like we're trying to
- 21:27manipulate anybody into being like given to us for free.
- 21:31Like he's not producing for your fantasy team.
- 21:33Maybe you need the results right now, like, so you're offering a
- 21:36fair trade in the moment. It's just that we're expecting
- 21:39the value to go up later. It's like buying a stock and
- 21:42then blowing up everything. I traded Kyle Palmieri and Vince
- 21:45Dunn for Pandora PHEV a month ago and honestly, Dorothea has
- 21:50been was way worse than Palmary at the time.
- 21:53Vince Dunn was he? He's been shaky up and down, but
- 21:56it's like I gave up like massive value to get him.
- 21:58And yeah, he's been on my roster for three weeks and he sucked.
- 22:00But now I'm reaping the rewards in this last week where he's
- 22:02popping off again. So.
- 22:03Exactly. OK, let's go to our bonus
- 22:06choice. Since Jake's not here to make
- 22:09one, we still have to give the viewers what they want, and
- 22:11that's three by Lowe's and three cell highs every week.
- 22:13So for our bonus choice, buy low.
- 22:16This name I've seen floating around a lot, so I thought it
- 22:19would be important to to highlight him and wanted him.
- 22:23Yeah, we've got Dylan Strome of the Washington Capitals.
- 22:26Over the past month, he's averaging .47 points per game
- 22:29and .13 power play points. We were just talking about
- 22:32Marchenko at .4 and how that's worse than waiver wire
- 22:34production. Same with Dylan Strome, last
- 22:37year he was averaging one point per game and .41 power play
- 22:40points. Strong is the archetype of
- 22:42player that we're not the biggest fans of here on Bangor
- 22:44management he barely touches any baquettes other than face off
- 22:47wins, so when he's not producing points for you, he's getting
- 22:49straight zeros. Because of this I wouldn't
- 22:51recommend him as a bylo unless he was so severely
- 22:53underperforming in points, but luckily for us he's producing
- 22:56less than half the points and PowerPoints that I expect him
- 22:59to. His deployment as the line one
- 23:00power play 1 centre on Washington, the 6th place team
- 23:03in the league right now, is completely locked down.
- 23:05Their power play is currently ranked 29th in the league versus
- 23:0914th last year, so it can only go up and Strom should be good
- 23:12for at least 1.8 points per game and .25 power play points with a
- 23:16ceiling of 1 and .4 like we saw last year.
- 23:18His floor is .8. I don't see any way he finishes
- 23:21under that since he's so bad at back hats on a stretch like
- 23:24this. He's been putting up straight
- 23:26zeros for his owner, so his owners probably fed up and eager
- 23:28to get him off their team. This is when we pounce.
- 23:30So look, this is a guy who you know, doesn't have the value of
- 23:35the back cats. He's not putting up any points
- 23:37and so you're not going to offer a lot for him.
- 23:39A lot of people want to drop them, but if you can get him for
- 23:41a low price then it's definitely worth it.
- 23:43So some targets I put Josh Norris.
- 23:45I know that might upset Kevin, but uh, I think that's a great
- 23:48one. Ryan O'Reilly we talked about
- 23:50him in our streamers episode the last two weeks over a point per
- 23:53game in the past month and then Brock Nelson has randomly been
- 23:56super hot lately. So I tried to put centres for
- 23:58centres, but yeah, these are all guys that I would rather have
- 24:01strong over. I mean, listen, I, I, I feel
- 24:04that Josh Norris 1. I don't know if it's just my
- 24:06bias. Probably my bias influences that
- 24:08a lot because I've, I was the guy that was touting Josh Norris
- 24:11in the off season and I held him through his injury because I
- 24:14drafted him in my own league. So I stuck to my guns and now
- 24:17he's producing like crazy. But if you had to tell me that,
- 24:21you know who gets more points for rest of season, like not
- 24:23moving forward like I feel like I have to bet my house on on
- 24:26Dylan Strome not gonna be at my house.
- 24:28I don't have a house here. But wait, that's not true.
- 24:31It's on Zillow actually. Go.
- 24:32Yeah. But I, I do think I, I love Ryan
- 24:37O'Reilly and Brock Nelson. I think those are perfect
- 24:38targets. I think those are actually
- 24:40feasible with the sentiment around Dylan Strome.
- 24:42Like guys, people are dropping him.
- 24:43Yeah, so that was really trying to put like low target to send
- 24:46anyone serious like for. That's the thing, I feel like
- 24:50Josh Norris is like in a vacuum, maybe don't stream is like
- 24:54slightly better, but I feel you can send less than Josh Norris
- 24:57to get that done. And you maybe look, if you can
- 25:00promise me that Josh Norris stays healthy rest this season,
- 25:03I could see an argument that you'd rather have him over
- 25:06Strome. Yeah, but with all his wrists
- 25:09involved and all that. And even if N stays healthy rest
- 25:11this season, I still see Strong getting more points.
- 25:13What Norris brings is having some back coverage versus
- 25:16stroke. Who?
- 25:16Doesn't the shots are big difference and.
- 25:18For sure, yeah. The power play points could be a
- 25:20big difference. Too.
- 25:21But I think with the not like you can ever guarantee health on
- 25:24any other device. But with all those question
- 25:26Marks and the fact that I already think Trump's gonna get
- 25:28more points, even if healthy. That's why I'm going strong over
- 25:31Norris. Look, if you can't offer less, I
- 25:34think you can get strum Plus for Haiti.
- 25:36Yeah, And I'd rather I'd rather have strum.
- 25:38Yeah. So I think like right now, like
- 25:40if you, if you own Verhagen, if Enstrom is not on your waivers
- 25:44and you're in a deep enough league that is still the owner
- 25:47still holding, get strong plus make it a 2 for two and get 2
- 25:50upgrades. Yes, I like that a lot.
- 25:52That's a really good way of looking at it as well.
- 25:54This was like for one for one guys, but we always prefer 2 for
- 25:57twos and the that's a great way of putting it.
- 25:59Or if you want to stick with positions, I think if you do
- 26:01Kadri plus someone for strong plus someone, I think the second
- 26:05person that trade be a huge upgrade for you because the
- 26:07person getting that trade is gonna be like Strom is like
- 26:09country is way better than Strome and country is has been.
- 26:12I mean, he he's a good shot volume guy and all that like so,
- 26:15but if you make that second part of the trade a big upgrade for
- 26:17you, then that's a great trade. Would you do Chantilly for
- 26:20Strom? That's tough.
- 26:24That's tough. I'm pretty high on Chantilly
- 26:25with the new, with the deployment, and I feel like he's
- 26:27also kind of a Bilo with how bad Columbus has been.
- 26:31But yeah, the tough thing, like I'm trying to put really kind of
- 26:35like bottom. Not bad advice, but like.
- 26:38You don't wanna pay that much for.
- 26:39Him. That's it exactly.
- 26:41Maybe like it's not that I don't for him.
- 26:43Yeah, I would love that if you can pull that off.
- 26:45It's not that I don't believe in the turn around.
- 26:47I obviously do, which is why I put him here.
- 26:48It's more that his value is so low right now.
- 26:50I don't think you should have to pay more than more than some of
- 26:54these guys. What about London?
- 26:56Yeah, I would take strum. This is one of our would you
- 26:58rather is that we were discussing that you guys
- 27:01disagreed with me a few weeks ago, but I'm definitely taking
- 27:03Stroma for. London, Elias Lindholm.
- 27:05That's the last one also, that's tough.
- 27:09Dodge has allies Lindholm on his team.
- 27:11So the playoff schedule is a big a big aspect of it, but, and
- 27:16honestly, Boston's power play is kind of unreal.
- 27:18So I think you can get strong Plus and I wouldn't hate that.
- 27:23Maybe you can look into that, making the two for two, I don't
- 27:26know. Who I could look into that?
- 27:28It is the first place team, OK. So yeah, maybe they won't be he.
- 27:32Doesn't want to make any trades like these days, unfortunately,
- 27:35because I'm trying to flip McDavid for McKinnon.
- 27:38But yeah, yeah, all right. That should be our bylaws.
- 27:42Let's get into our cell highs. I'm not happy about this one.
- 27:46Josh, this one is. Look, do I like poking the bear
- 27:50sometimes and antagonizing? My.
- 27:51Cohost. What do we do our our cell high
- 27:55segment? Josh goes straight to my team
- 27:56and he's like, who could I pick up Devin team first?
- 27:58I already know his process. No, no, not.
- 28:00Not like this time it was more like I really wanted a a
- 28:03defenseman. So I was just I sorted by
- 28:04defenseman to see who was like performing like crazy.
- 28:07I don't disagree. This name, this name just jumped
- 28:09out at me. So it's just a bonus that it
- 28:11that it gets to get on under Kevin skin a little bit by
- 28:13picking someone on his team. But yeah, so my cell high for
- 28:16this week is Eric Carlson of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
- 28:20Listen in on these past months stats.
- 28:23This is unreal. The past month, Carlson's
- 28:25averaging .86 points per game, .5 power play points per game,
- 28:30and 2.8 shots. To give you some comparison,
- 28:33last year he was at .65 points per game, .18 power play points,
- 28:37and 2.3 shots. Look, he's been solid all year,
- 28:40but he's been on an absolute tear lately and you have the
- 28:43opportunity to tear up big here. Pittsburgh power play is
- 28:45currently ranked third in the league, and they were 6th last
- 28:47year, so this is where they belong.
- 28:48This is not an outlier in terms of how their power play should
- 28:50perform. Carlson is also the undisputed
- 28:53PowerPoint 1 defenseman on this team.
- 28:55Probably wondering why I'm recommending the solid guy who
- 28:57has amazing deployment and is taking full advantage of it.
- 29:00Firstly, he's averaging .5 power play points, which is just
- 29:03completely unsustainable. We've talked about this a lot,
- 29:06but McDavid and McKinnon usually on the season around .4 or five
- 29:09power play points, so I'm never betting anyone's finishing
- 29:11higher than that. Best case, Carlson should end
- 29:13the season around .3 power play points, which is still amazing,
- 29:16but that's a .2 points per and PowerPoints dip right there.
- 29:20Last year he was at .18, probably points while having the
- 29:23exact same deployment as to this year.
- 29:25Pittsburgh is also an interesting spot in the
- 29:27standings right now. There are three points out of
- 29:29being the bottom team in the East while also being 2 points
- 29:31out of a playoff spot. I think they'll be in the wild
- 29:33card mix for most of the season, but I don't expect them to make
- 29:35the playoffs. If they ever hit a point where
- 29:37they don't think they can make the playoffs, you can expect
- 29:39them to start selling guys like Ricardo Raquel, Brian Rust and
- 29:42possibly even Eric Carlson. If those other guys go, the team
- 29:46in power play will definitely get worse and so will Carlson.
- 29:48If Carlson goes, it can only be a downgrade on his current
- 29:51deployment, so he will get worse as well.
- 29:53Why worry about this when you can tear up and turn him into a
- 29:55guaranteed stud for the rest of the year?
- 29:57So some targets I'm looking at Josh Morrissey, Adam Fox, Quinn
- 30:02Hughes, you'd have to do plus, but he's been really bad and I
- 30:04know the trade shake things up a bit, but he's been really bad
- 30:06over the past month .38 points per game, Roman Yosi, most
- 30:10slider. These are all guys who are like
- 30:12like the one here that like you might think is a bit sketchy
- 30:14might be Yoshi because like the injury worry and he's also like
- 30:18a Bilo. But I'm still taking all of
- 30:20these guys over Carlson and for some of them, maybe even you can
- 30:23get get that person. Plus like Morris Heisman garbage
- 30:26lately and he's a great buy low. So yeah, I'm curious to think
- 30:30what what the Carlson owner in our league has to say about
- 30:33this. I mean, listen, as the Carlson
- 30:37owner in our league, I, I mean, I love all these targets.
- 30:40I agree. I'm not eating low.
- 30:42I'm not. I'm not understanding.
- 30:43What he's doing. Yeah, I know.
- 30:44I I honestly think you're aiming too high because really I've
- 30:48done my due diligence and I've tried to trade Eric Carlson for
- 30:51a lot of these names and I don't wanna see doesn't have to pull
- 30:55that we think he has or that he should have or that it's just
- 30:58people are not willing to give up these guys for Carlson.
- 31:02Quinn Hughes is a stretch. You definitely have to do a big
- 31:04a decent plus to make what happened.
- 31:06He just has been so bad but I think the trade height might
- 31:08make him. Out of I think the trade
- 31:09completely take some more years by.
- 31:10Law. I think that's fair.
- 31:12Cider is just such a Unicorn of the Bangor cats that I could see
- 31:15people not wanting to part with him.
- 31:16For his points to his points have been really like not there.
- 31:21So, yeah, so that's why I like window.
- 31:23There's a window. So but those ones, I could see
- 31:26you being like, OK, that's a bit of a stretch, but I mean,
- 31:28Morrissey's been really bad. You'll see has so many question
- 31:31marks around him and Fox is on LTIR.
- 31:33I think these are all achievable.
- 31:34I tried for Fox. The owner just didn't want to
- 31:37make the swap. I guess he's not in a desperate,
- 31:39desperate enough situation that that won't happen.
- 31:41But that's not to say that the Fox owner in your league is not
- 31:44as desperate. You know what I mean?
- 31:45I think that's very fair and I think it's very feasible given
- 31:48do we know that Fox is missing at least another month?
- 31:51You'll see is the one that scares me Josh Morrissey.
- 31:53I think also because I do think Eric Carlson is going to be
- 31:56better than he was last season. Penguins were a bleep show last
- 32:00season and this year it looks like they're, you know, they're
- 32:03going into a negative run of form now and it's kind of bad.
- 32:07But Carlson still producing, I do think he'll be better than he
- 32:10was last year, but I still think it's to sell high.
- 32:12Obviously, like nobody's averaging .5 points per game for
- 32:14the rest of the season, especially on a defenseman like
- 32:15this. Yeah, so I do understand the
- 32:18sell high more so I feel like is the most achievable out of all
- 32:21of these. So I would listen, I'm going to
- 32:24send an offer right now after this so and see if I can make.
- 32:27Something you know, I like pushing your buttons, but I also
- 32:29give you good ideas sometimes and it's like I'm probably not
- 32:32the best to give my competition some good ideas.
- 32:34And we talked about it, how it seems scary in the moment, but
- 32:38it usually pays dividends. Like I'm scared right now.
- 32:40I'm like, yeah. Is Josh Morrissey actually gonna
- 32:42be better than Eric Carlson? Look like what he's been doing
- 32:43for the last month, You know what I mean?
- 32:45Like his shooting. It's Eric Carlson, right?
- 32:46Like he's got. I remember Josh had Eric Carlson
- 32:49and roster like 2 years ago when he was able to keep them for.
- 32:51What do you feel like Drysol idle?
- 32:53Like, yeah, I mean, it was a big like it was like it was before
- 32:55trade, but. He won the Norris like that
- 32:57year, too. Right.
- 32:58So I drafted in this exact same as this year.
- 33:01I drafted Carlson right around where you drafted him this year,
- 33:03which is super late in the draft.
- 33:04Yeah. And then he started popping off
- 33:06and I'm like, I have to sell. I have to sell.
- 33:08No one would take him and telling me this big blockbuster
- 33:10trade that ended up being a big win for me.
- 33:12But Carlson then just kept being good all season.
- 33:14So. But that's the idea, right?
- 33:16Is like, I'm not saying that he's going to be bad, but why
- 33:18not? Why take the worry of him, you
- 33:21know, dropping off when you could just convert him into a
- 33:24guaranteed stud? Yeah.
- 33:26So yeah, I'm going to try to make trades for Josh Morrissey,
- 33:28Adam Fox myself and see what happens.
- 33:30Roman Yosi Thing is just personally, I'm just I just
- 33:32don't want. To, I mean, just talked about it
- 33:34in the offseason and stuff that like Yoshi has a lot of question
- 33:36Marks and we're kind of not. Schedule.
- 33:39And is he even gonna be healthy when the playoff schedule
- 33:41happens? Like National is on the bottom
- 33:42of the Ross? They might just shut him down.
- 33:44And upstairs, I think in terms of pure value, I'd rather YOC.
- 33:47But I think with all the question marks, then I don't
- 33:48blame you for not wanting to send that.
- 33:50I think the two best, the targets are the first ones that
- 33:52I put, which was Mercy and Fox. And then Carlson, like, if he's
- 33:55still on the Penguins by the playoffs, you have to have a
- 33:58really good schedule. But Fox, I prefer the 444 over a
- 34:01435 just yeah, I like the consistency.
- 34:03So yeah. So yeah.
- 34:06But yeah, great, great choice. And I think there's, I think as
- 34:09of right now all the defensemen like he's one of the guys that I
- 34:12think is the most overperforming out.
- 34:14Of I just I I literally like I wanted to pick a defenseman for
- 34:17this episode. So I go start by defenseman and
- 34:19then I start by points average over the past month.
- 34:21And I'm just like, and I look for the first name that pops out
- 34:23that I'm like with this guy doesn't belong this high up on
- 34:25this list, you know? And so and then I saw the power
- 34:27play points and just no brainer. But alright, Kevin, who do you
- 34:29got for? Us all right, well, we're trying
- 34:32to highlight all the positions here to give you guys optimal
- 34:34content and so I'm going to highlight bully and it might not
- 34:38be the goalie that you're expecting, but it is the goalie
- 34:41that you deserve. I'm talking about as my sell
- 34:46high candidate for Week 12, Thatcher Demko of the Vancouver
- 34:50Canucks. Who we kind of trashed on our
- 34:53one, I forget which episode. It was a recent episode.
- 34:56Yeah, and then he just and then he shot out the Rangers.
- 34:58So against against a lot of our listeners.
- 35:01I know people were pissed about that in the Discord.
- 35:03So yeah, alas, we're here talking about him as a Sahai.
- 35:06But this one may be tricky because he's only recently been
- 35:08back from injury. Like he's only played four games
- 35:10since he's been back from injury.
- 35:12He's won three out of four of them and you shot out the
- 35:14Rangers, so already you're like, OK, Like is he's been blamed,
- 35:17really. Well, everyone shuts out the
- 35:18Rangers. This.
- 35:18Year, I feel like everybody has to get one shot against the
- 35:21Rangers for the season. Yeah, but the other team that he
- 35:24played, like he played New Jersey, that's very bad right
- 35:26now. He played the Islanders and he
- 35:27played Buffalo. So I'm not saying that all of
- 35:30these teams are, you know, the worst teams in the league, but
- 35:33it's definitely not like the most intimidating competition.
- 35:35Let's say they did lose against Buffalo was first came back.
- 35:38But all that to say, over this stretch of four games he's at
- 35:421.35 goals against average .93 needs safe percentage and if
- 35:48anything I'm just putting it out there.
- 35:49Sell them before he gets hurt again.
- 35:51It's like we never want to say we're baking in too much injury
- 35:55risk with a player. We talk about guys being
- 35:57squishy. You can never predict injuries.
- 35:58It can happen to anybody. But some guys feels like they
- 36:01have a higher likelihood too. We've already seen it with them
- 36:03code this year and in recent years.
- 36:05He's not the same guy that he was before.
- 36:07You're not that cool. If anything, just trade him
- 36:10before he gets hurt again. But besides that, looking at the
- 36:13numbers, he's still a cell high. And to me, I think that, you
- 36:17know, after this huge trade, it feels like Vancouver has no star
- 36:21talent left. It's like Elias Pettersson, and
- 36:23he's not even the same guy that he was as always, right?
- 36:26So this team is no headed in the wrong direction.
- 36:30They're trading for future assets or getting young guys.
- 36:32Like this is a team that's committed to not winning this
- 36:34year pretty much. And in this last stretch of four
- 36:37games, they're winning. And you're holding the goalie on
- 36:40a team that is not going to win many games, going to finish in
- 36:43the bottom of the table. And he always gets hurt.
- 36:46So just feels like a recipe for disaster.
- 36:48And you have a brief window right now, guys, a brief window.
- 36:51Thatcher Demko still has the name poll.
- 36:53It's like when he's doing well, people remember the best days of
- 36:56Thatcher Demko of life when he was a top three fantasy pick for
- 36:58goalies and you have money roster and he was killing it for
- 37:01you. Right now, I feel like he's this
- 37:03is the most positive sentiment people have had over him for the
- 37:06whole year, it feels like. And this is when you capitalize
- 37:09on it and try to trade him because the window is small.
- 37:12I think the window is small and as soon as it's shut, it's going
- 37:14to be shut. I'm gonna I don't wanna slam on
- 37:17my desk, but slam on the desk and it's shut.
- 37:21He's he's the type of goalie that I really don't want to own.
- 37:23He's like au Cyros where it's just like a guy that like, you
- 37:26know, users at least has health on his side.
- 37:28But I just want them off my roster and I'm not even aiming
- 37:32too high. Guys, I don't know if you can
- 37:33aim for the best guys in the league.
- 37:34Even with these numbers, the sample size is still too small.
- 37:37But you could get a dust style who just got lit up last night
- 37:41and had a abysmal safe percentage.
- 37:43You could probably flip Thatcher Demko for the style one for one,
- 37:46potentially a lot of leagues you could get Velka, who I know has
- 37:51had his own tumultuous season where people have asked if they
- 37:54could drop him. But I do think there's better
- 37:56days ahead for for Utah. And he's a very average goalie.
- 37:59I think ask her off too. I think ask her of he's he's
- 38:01just missed a couple games with illnesses and whatnot.
- 38:04And I think San Jose is a team that's going to be competing for
- 38:07the playoffs. I think they're in that mist
- 38:09right now. Celebrity is on fire.
- 38:12I think there's a lot of good with, you know, the San Jose
- 38:15situation asked of me, the main guy there, but he's not
- 38:18performing like he was early in the season where he was so high.
- 38:20He still kind of like just a slightly above average goalie.
- 38:23And I think if you can flip a guy that you know, might not
- 38:26even be healthy for a guy like ask her of, I think you'll be
- 38:29happy with that. So these kind of seems
- 38:30potentially like deeper league trade moves because they're not
- 38:35the the highest level of goals. Like I'm not saying trade for
- 38:38baseless or whatnot, but I still think this improves your
- 38:40situation. I absolutely love and agree with
- 38:44everything you said here. Um, I think that you guys have
- 38:47to remember with Vancouver, they traded away Quinn Hughes, right?
- 38:50They're not done selling key for Sherwood is as good as gone.
- 38:53He just got a hat trick last night.
- 38:54That hat trick every month is going to be gone from the team.
- 38:57I wouldn't be surprised if you know, Evander Kane could
- 39:00probably be gone. I'm not that's the, you know,
- 39:02biggest loss, but like, like anyone of value on that team is
- 39:07up for grabs essentially. And they're going to be doing a
- 39:10fire sale like like the Quinn Hughes trade is like the green
- 39:13light. We are tanking, We're rebuilding
- 39:15that. That is the biggest indicator
- 39:18ever that this is what's going to happen.
- 39:19So this is going to be a team that should finish bottom five
- 39:21in the league. Demco probably I don't know, I
- 39:25don't know how often on with health he's gonna be, but he's
- 39:28not going to be healthy for the rest of the season.
- 39:29I'm willing to bet my house on it.
- 39:30I'm about to close on the new house.
- 39:32I'm very excited. My first my first ever house.
- 39:33I'm going to I would put it on Zillow to to say that Thatcher
- 39:37Demko will not play the rest of the season healthy.
- 39:40OK, so he's a guy that I don't want on my roster at all.
- 39:42So I know that yes, like Kevin's targets don't seem like the
- 39:45biggest, you know, stars in the game.
- 39:47But we like I mean, we got a comment on one of our YouTube
- 39:51videos that actually like I really loved and I'm glad that
- 39:54people feel this way. But they were saying how we
- 39:56don't put unrealistic targets that like, obviously it's a win
- 39:59for you, but it's a fleece and it'll just never happen.
- 40:00We put guys that you can actually get that are still
- 40:02going to be wins for you. So I like all of these.
- 40:05And honestly, like with how Demko has been and how those
- 40:07guys have been, you can maybe throw in a little plus for you
- 40:09on the return, you know, make it a 2 for two.
- 40:11And look, it has to be a small plus, but like you can get like
- 40:14a little upgrade as well. So I think I love these very
- 40:16much. I wanted to, I really wanted to
- 40:19try to find the line of like who are like the best goals you can
- 40:21target right now that you would rather over them because
- 40:23honestly, there's a lot of goals I'd rather over.
- 40:25Demco doesn't change the fact that he does have quality in him
- 40:29to have games where he'll shut out the range for sure.
- 40:31Yeah. But those are just so small
- 40:33compared to like the big sample size of like the situation in
- 40:36Vancouver and also like his own health.
- 40:39Here's 1. I don't know if you'll agree
- 40:40with this, but he's on my team. I would take Dan Valdaro over
- 40:43them. Go rest of season and I think
- 40:44you can get like you can. Higher than floor, I feel like
- 40:48the type of guy on waivers in most leagues.
- 40:51Well that's what I'm saying. I'm saying that like perceived
- 40:53value welder is so much lower than tempo that if you make that
- 40:56A2 for two, you can get a decent upgrade on the other part of the
- 40:59trade. And I'm still happier with the
- 41:00goal you ended up with. I really wanted to put all
- 41:02markers at Target, but he recently got a shout out.
- 41:05So I feel like that, just like the gates negates the
- 41:07opportunity to buy Hallmark. But if that's still possible in
- 41:09your lead because Demco also got a shout out, so maybe negates it
- 41:12and the conversation is actually possible.
- 41:14I would much rather have all Mark.
- 41:16I think Bob 2, same situation like we've been talking about,
- 41:19Bob's been good. He just got a shout out as well
- 41:21with like a 14 safe shot or something.
- 41:23So it's like so small, but if you can make that because maybe
- 41:26he's been less good over the last month, then maybe that's
- 41:29still possible. Where do we draw the line
- 41:31though? Do you think temper is
- 41:32achievable because Kemper is hurt right now so.
- 41:34He's been too good all year. I know as the camper owner I
- 41:38wouldn't even like even if they told me it was out for like a
- 41:40month like I mean. You can get a 2 for two when
- 41:43you're giving another kind of lateral.
- 41:44Move. Look, you can't hurt to try, but
- 41:46I know as a camper owner I'm very happy with him.
- 41:48Obviously the injury sucks, like he's letting in like two goals a
- 41:51game, Max every game, so I just don't think it's achievable.
- 41:54Would you rather Dustin Wolf or or, you know, Spencer Night?
- 41:58Because what was the time in similar situation where he's a
- 42:00yeah Rick goalies on a bad team, but Calgary's winning more games
- 42:03in Vancouver. Look I take night over Demko for
- 42:07sure. Not that I think Chicago is that
- 42:09good of a team or anything, I see them as similar tier but
- 42:12Chicago actually had a few slightly better than Vancouver
- 42:14rest of season outlook and nights been good and he doesn't
- 42:17have the injury issues. So night I feel comfortable
- 42:18taking over Demko and Wolf. I mean, I think Calgary is like
- 42:22could be worse than Vancouver. They're also gonna sell like
- 42:26Kadri's gone like as Anderson's gone like so I mean the same.
- 42:29But again, you can use the health as like the scale of the
- 42:31tip. They're both skilled goalie.
- 42:33So I'll take Wolf over them. Go like really.
- 42:35Like I say, there's two categories of cell highs that we
- 42:37talk about. There's a category like the Eric
- 42:38Carlson where you're still gonna be happy having him on your team
- 42:41all year, but you can tear up so take advantage.
- 42:44And then there's a category of like when we mentioned like John
- 42:47Carlson or like we talked about Malcolm at the start of the
- 42:49year, we talked about, you know, some of these guys are so Demco
- 42:51is in that category. Like I want the Carver Hagee,
- 42:54like I want this guy off my team, you know?
- 42:55So, so that's why like, we're willing to aim, you know, if you
- 42:59get someone back that you're happy to hold all season, even
- 43:01if it's not the flashiest name, I'm viewing that as a win.
- 43:03Can I tempt you with joy Decord? I would take to court over
- 43:09Demko. So that's feasible right now
- 43:10without the courts, then you're not worried about the splitting
- 43:13starts the whole rest of the year.
- 43:14No, I mean, it sucks right now, but like his competition is
- 43:17Phillip Grubauer and Matt Murray like that.
- 43:21Like I as the Decor owner, it really sucks right now.
- 43:24But honestly, if it takes, if it takes them splitting starts for
- 43:27him to increase his quality and then get his game back and then
- 43:30they start bringing it back to him, then then yeah, I know.
- 43:32I'm not too worried about. It last name Jacob Markstrom.
- 43:35That's a great one. I'm still going Markstrom.
- 43:37Really. Look, it's not like.
- 43:38He doesn't like mushroom right now and like, listen, we
- 43:40understand it's been bad. Absolutely.
- 43:42I mean, there's a reason that I. Say is going to be better.
- 43:44Yeah, I didn't put him as a buy low because I'm not like iron.
- 43:47Like I know for a fact he's gonna be sick this year.
- 43:50Like I like being certain about these before I put them down.
- 43:53But he can't get worse. New Jersey has brighter days
- 43:55ahead. And and yeah, I would take him
- 43:57over Dumbo. Easy.
- 43:58My favorite target I think is the style.
- 43:59So I think he's one of the most most achievable, especially
- 44:02after he just got lit up. Guys like he literally just got
- 44:05lit up. I love training.
- 44:06All the reviews are lit. Up yeah, that's the best that's
- 44:09actually the best because like you know the the play like he
- 44:11probably in a lot of these the guy got him like negative points
- 44:13or whatever like that and then, you know, sitting there like why
- 44:15is this guy in my roster if he's gonna be negative points?
- 44:18Make it a 2. I think that's the perfect one
- 44:19to make it a 2 for two where you're getting an upgraded for
- 44:21the skater and you're like alright, listen, I'll help you.
- 44:23I'll take the dust off your hands.
- 44:24You take Demco so. Absolutely.
- 44:26That's great. Alright, Kevin, take us to the
- 44:28bonus choice to round us out. So the bonus, the third cell
- 44:32hide this week for week 12 of the fantasy season is a guy that
- 44:35I feel that we highlighted earlier on in the season, you
- 44:38know, maybe the first three weeks, but it's a guy that I
- 44:40love. I picked him up in his rookie
- 44:42year and I rode that wave. But we're talking about Matt
- 44:46Boldy of the Minnesota Wild. Now listen, don't get me wrong,
- 44:50Matt Boldy is excellent fantasy hockey player and real life.
- 44:54Player of the two categories of selfies, yes.
- 44:58So listen, I'm not saying get him off your roster, I'm saying
- 45:02you have an opportunity to tear up.
- 45:04Once again. He's the type of player that I
- 45:07think is a perfect entry point into like that superstar elite
- 45:10stratosphere of fantasy talent that we talk about all the first
- 45:12round picks, the second round picks that are some there like
- 45:15some there that was not in English, but you know what I
- 45:17mean. But he's the perfect guy that
- 45:20like, I feel like he was drafted around 3/4 of most leagues and
- 45:22you can tear up to like the threshold of the tier break of
- 45:25like the round one round two guys because he's been nothing
- 45:29short of elite for your fantasy team.
- 45:31Right now, he's still hovering over 3.2 shots a game, which is
- 45:35elite in itself. And I expect that to be
- 45:36consistent rest of season. Like he's always a shooter.
- 45:39He will be a shooter, but over the last two weeks he's at 1.71
- 45:43points per game, almost 2 points per game and over the month is
- 45:47at 1.33. Now listen, last series at 0.9
- 45:50points per game. So I expect him this year to be
- 45:52better than last year. The situation is better.
- 45:54He's leveling up as a player. I can expect like a point per
- 45:57game or 1.1. That's still a far cry far from
- 46:001.7 that he's doing right now for the last two weeks and even
- 46:021.3. But I think you can really get a
- 46:08first round talent type of Blair because he has a name pull.
- 46:11He has a sample size of being excellent, and when people open
- 46:14the game log and they see what he's been doing, it's elite
- 46:16right now. So I think it's a perfect
- 46:18opportunity to sell. And I also think like, you know,
- 46:21Minnesota has a subpar playoff schedule, so as an extra bonus,
- 46:25you might be upgrading there. And I think that's always a win.
- 46:28And if you're doing like a 2 for two trade or targeting one of
- 46:33those elite guys, I think Matt Boldy, even if you have to like
- 46:36a 2 for one, I think Matt Body does most of the heavy lifting
- 46:38in that trade because it's like, OK, Bally's doing way better
- 46:41than the guy I'm offering, but I know he's like doing a little
- 46:44bit more. So how about I throw in a
- 46:46sweetener like a Rhino Riley or something and get that deal done
- 46:48type of thing. You know, I mean, I think right
- 46:50now you can talk like a Jack Eichel who is currently really
- 46:53sick. Like it's not an injury, he's
- 46:55just really sick and he's missing games.
- 46:57I think you can target Jack Hughes, who you know, is might
- 47:00not be available right after we publish this episode, but when
- 47:05he comes back, you're gonna you're gonna be laughing if you
- 47:07have Jacks on your and you can afford to lose Matt Boldy.
- 47:09Yeah, I think Matthew could. Chuck, listen, this is a brief
- 47:12window. So as you're listening to this
- 47:13and you have Matt Boley, try to go make this happen ASAP because
- 47:16Mantica check is going to be back late December.
- 47:18We're posting this on December 22nd.
- 47:21So you'll have maybe a week of, you know, a chance to do this
- 47:26boldly for Kashuk. And I think Austin Matthews I
- 47:28think is still attainable and you're not getting the playoff
- 47:30upgrade there with Austin Matthews.
- 47:32But I think you're getting more shots and you're getting just a
- 47:35more elite, well-rounded player that in bangers league as well.
- 47:38He's gonna get you a lot of blocks.
- 47:39So I think all of these guys are teared up and listen, I'm not
- 47:42talking about scrubs here. I'm talking about some of the
- 47:44best players in the whole league that are great for fantasy.
- 47:46So I love it like this. I love everything you're saying.
- 47:50This reminds me a lot of our Jason Robertson recommendation
- 47:53from 2 weeks ago. Exactly.
- 47:54It was like almost the exact same points per game.
- 47:55And look how that turned out so far, right?
- 47:57Like this is, this is not a guy you're desperate to get off your
- 48:00team, but this is a guy who's just performing so incredibly
- 48:02well that you have the chance to tear up.
- 48:03I love all the targets. I love these like Michael Hughes
- 48:07type of guy, you know, guys who are like right around the corner
- 48:09of injury but have been injured for a bit while.
- 48:11Not huge, but I mean, not like, but the other two and like, so
- 48:13like people like he's been out for so long.
- 48:15What has he done for me? You know, and even though right
- 48:17around the corner, you can still bank on that that perceived
- 48:20lower value. So I love that Matthews is still
- 48:22a huge buy low in terms of the playoff schedule.
- 48:24It may be the same number of games, but Toronto has three off
- 48:26nights, which are really important, like with how the
- 48:28schedule shakes out there. So it's still a win a playoff
- 48:31schedule. So yeah, no, I love all these
- 48:33targets. I wanted to add Nielander as a
- 48:34target as well. I wanted to know how you felt
- 48:36about that because you're not getting the upgrade and I think
- 48:38you can aim higher than Elander. So I wanna aim higher than the
- 48:41lender. But let's say these guys are not
- 48:42available in your league, are not possible.
- 48:44Like would you do that Yolanda for body?
- 48:47Honestly, I like like when we were recommending Robertson like
- 48:502 weeks ago and we're recommending body now.
- 48:52Like I need a top top top tier, pretty much no questions asked
- 48:57or questions asked, but they're like a top five pick like
- 48:59Matthews in return. So I'm actually not doing that
- 49:01for Nylander, not because I don't believe in him as a bylaw,
- 49:04but look, Nielander, let's say he tops out at like 1.2 points
- 49:10per game, three shots, something like that.
- 49:12Body I can easily see being 1.2 points per game and the power
- 49:16better, better power play. So, so yeah, no, I wouldn't do a
- 49:19body Freelander, but I like all the targets you put.
- 49:22Nice. All right, so that wraps up our
- 49:26Vilosell High, another absolute banger of an episode for Bangor
- 49:30management, if I do say so ourselves.
- 49:32This is just a great weekly episode.
- 49:34I think it's so valuable to people that that I love it.
- 49:38I love it so much. It's my favorite thing to
- 49:39record, like I always say, and I think it's one of the ones that
- 49:42probably gives the most value for people too, like.
- 49:44Yeah, I mean, literally, we record this and I immediately go
- 49:48on fantasy and started sending out offers based on who we
- 49:50talked. About I go straight to the disco
- 49:51and I'm just like, after the episode goes live on Monday,
- 49:55people listen to the episode. They come into this one just
- 49:58like, I heard your episode. I have this guy on my roster.
- 50:00I wanna make a trade. Like, who do you think I can
- 50:02target, like on this guy's team or whatever?
- 50:04Yeah, I love that. Listen.
- 50:05We make it happen. Yeah, exactly.
- 50:07We're listing a lot of targets here so we can do a lot of the
- 50:09heavy lifting. But sometimes, you know, you
- 50:10just want to target different guys that are part of a bigger
- 50:13trade and you want to share the guys are lower on the standings
- 50:16in your roster because you have more leverage there and it's
- 50:18just logical. It makes sense.
- 50:20So yeah, a lot of good trades to be done and I think I'm looking
- 50:23forward to the two week update in two weeks from now.
- 50:26Been looking back at these guys and seeing how they changed.
- 50:29I can guarantee my body is not gonna be 1.7 points per game at
- 50:32that point. So yeah, well, we might be
- 50:34looking back at being like I told you so again, so hopefully
- 50:36we're able to say that, but in a friendly way.
- 50:38Yeah. All right, so if you guys really
- 50:41made it this far, we sincerely appreciate it.
