- 0:27Speaker 3: news media and we hope to see you at Breakingpoints
- 0:29Speaker 3: dot com.
- 0:33Speaker 4: All right, good morning, and welcome to Breaking Points family.
- 0:35Speaker 4: We have an incredible show today in the sense that
- 0:37Speaker 4: you're not going to believe about half of what we're
- 0:39Speaker 4: going to tell you, and that's because you're sensible and
- 0:42Speaker 4: you probably shouldn't. But we're going to tell you what
- 0:44Speaker 4: people are claiming is going on between Iran, Israel and
- 0:48Speaker 4: the United States anyway.
- 0:49Speaker 5: And when you say people, you mean the President of
- 0:51Speaker 5: the United SLA, I do mean that. So just called
- 0:52Speaker 5: Fox News, we're juggling some breaking news here right now
- 0:55Speaker 5: this morning. He just called in a Fox News as
- 0:58Speaker 5: we are recording this, so we're going to bring you
- 1:01Speaker 5: the audio of what Fox News the video of what
- 1:03Speaker 5: Fox News says the President conveyed about the down Apache
- 1:07Speaker 5: helicopter on Monday night. He's also been posting all morning
- 1:09Speaker 5: on True Social about Iran. So we have tons of
- 1:13Speaker 5: updates to get to in the Middle East. We are
- 1:17Speaker 5: we're going to have CPI numbers, so inflation numbers coming
- 1:20Speaker 5: out this morning. There's a lot to talk about, especially
- 1:22Speaker 5: as the stock market took a real hit yesterday.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Ryan, it was pretty interesting to watch that.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it's going to be much better today.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Likely not.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I think reality may be finally catching up. We've got
- 1:33Speaker 4: election results South Carolina Governor Nancy Mace will tell you
- 1:35Speaker 4: how she did. Graham Platner will tell you how he did.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Janet Mills and Nancy Mace who did better out of
- 1:43Speaker 4: the two of them, and Mills was at like nineteen percent.
- 1:46Speaker 4: What did Mace come in it?
- 1:48Speaker 5: It's a good question, but it's also sort of where's
- 1:50Speaker 5: the bar right, Like Janet Mills is the sitting governor
- 1:53Speaker 5: of Nancy Mace's Nancy Bace.
- 1:56Speaker 4: We're going to look at a really crazy story that
- 2:01Speaker 4: has not gotten the attention that it deserved, and that
- 2:04Speaker 4: is the Ukrainian effort to assassinate Vladimir Putin at the
- 2:08Speaker 4: end of last year. And we're going to go through
- 2:11Speaker 4: the evidence that has been presented as to whether or
- 2:14Speaker 4: not that happened, and which includes apparently a Zelenski just
- 2:17Speaker 4: kind of admitting it recently, and talk about what the
- 2:20Speaker 4: potential implications that could be when it comes to nuclear war.
- 2:25Speaker 5: And as this war is, the war in Ukraine not
- 2:28Speaker 5: getting as much attension since Epic Fury started, but that
- 2:32Speaker 5: war was an incredibly intense period right now as well,
- 2:35Speaker 5: so super important story to get to.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and we'll also be joined toward the back end
- 2:39Speaker 4: of the show by Jane Kim. This is an attempt
- 2:42Speaker 4: to rectify our East Coast chauvinism. Big important things happen
- 2:46Speaker 4: all the time, and on the West coast.
- 2:49Speaker 1: We got Randy Veegis.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yes, we're going to talk about Randy Vegas, he won.
- 2:53Speaker 4: We're going to talk about Maybang, she won. But Jane
- 2:56Speaker 4: Kim on a Insurance for All platform, won the California
- 3:02Speaker 4: insurance race with the backing of Bernie Sanders. It is
- 3:06Speaker 4: not often that a statewide candidate wins on a populist
- 3:12Speaker 4: message without corporate support in California, And so we're gonna
- 3:15Speaker 4: ask her how the heck she did that and what
- 3:17Speaker 4: she's going to do with this very important but overlooked
- 3:21Speaker 4: position that she'll have in California state government. And then
- 3:25Speaker 4: a friend of the show wanted to beat Rojas is
- 3:28Speaker 4: going to be on to talk about a president that
- 3:30Speaker 4: actually does seem to be doing stuff for the people
- 3:35Speaker 4: that have elected her. That's Claudia Shinbaum in Mexico.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You're such a shine bomb fanboy.
- 3:39Speaker 5: We are, we are here, right, We've generally been pro
- 3:42Speaker 5: shine Bomb here.
- 3:44Speaker 4: But she's Mexico first. I mean, you know, I love.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Truly Mexico first.
- 3:48Speaker 5: World Cup obviously beginning with games in Mexico on Thursday.
- 3:53Speaker 5: And Pete Heseth is in Guantanamo today, So I want
- 3:56Speaker 5: to feed Rojas is very covers all of that very closely.
- 4:01Speaker 5: So we have a lot of questions to get to
- 4:03Speaker 5: with him. Speaking of questions, Ryan, so many questions raised
- 4:07Speaker 5: by President Donald Trump's interview with Fox News this morning.
- 4:12Speaker 5: He apparently called Trey Yanst and Trey Yanks reported live
- 4:15Speaker 5: on Fox what he heard from the President about that
- 4:17Speaker 5: down to Pache helicopter on Monday.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 4:21Speaker 6: I want to start with a story the President told
- 4:23Speaker 6: me new details about the downing of this US Army
- 4:27Speaker 6: Apache helicopter. President Trump tells Fox News that the Iranian
- 4:32Speaker 6: drone lodged in between the two pilots in this helicopter.
- 4:36Speaker 6: They were flying very low and at that point the
- 4:40Speaker 6: drone didn't explode as it had intended to, and so
- 4:43Speaker 6: these pilots were trying to take down the helicopter with
- 4:47Speaker 6: the drone lodged into this gunship without it exploding, and
- 4:52Speaker 6: at any moment it could have exploded, the President told me,
- 4:56Speaker 6: and he said it was on fire. There was a
- 4:57Speaker 6: lot of heat inside the cockpit of this helicopter, and
- 5:01Speaker 6: ultimately these two pilots were able to take it down
- 5:04Speaker 6: into the sea, where ultimately they were rescued for the
- 5:07Speaker 6: first time in US military history by an unmanned sea drone. Now,
- 5:12Speaker 6: President Trump also talked about the US strikes last night
- 5:16Speaker 6: against Iranian radar systems and air defense sites. He said
- 5:20Speaker 6: the Iranians had tried to rebuild during the seasfire their
- 5:24Speaker 6: defensive capabilities, but they were unable to stop these US
- 5:27Speaker 6: strikes overnight and they were hammered by US fighter jets. Now, interestingly,
- 5:32Speaker 6: President Trump told me that he is getting close to
- 5:36Speaker 6: ordering new strikes against Iranian power plants and.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Bridges, and so another friend of the show aside, Muhammed Marandi,
- 5:46Speaker 4: posted on Twitter in response to this. Trump has just
- 5:49Speaker 4: announced on Fox News the death sentence of the Saudi, Katari, Bahraini, Yue,
- 5:55Speaker 4: and Kuwaiti regimes, as well as the global economy soup.
- 6:01Speaker 4: When this Patche helicopter first went down, it was reported
- 6:04Speaker 4: as we don't know why it just went down. Then
- 6:08Speaker 4: it was reported that it was hit by a shot
- 6:11Speaker 4: head drone and people were like, that's very odd because
- 6:15Speaker 4: these things like you'd have to be drunk or asleep
- 6:19Speaker 4: to get hit by one, Like, how does this happen?
- 6:22Speaker 4: Like these are not designed to hit Apache helicopters. Yeah, Now,
- 6:26Speaker 4: maybe there's just so many Apache helicopters and so many
- 6:29Speaker 4: Shahad drones flying over the strait of hermoves that one
- 6:34Speaker 4: of them accidentally collided. Then other people said, well, maybe
- 6:37Speaker 4: it was one of these loitering missiles that Iran has
- 6:40Speaker 4: that operates similar to drones that are intended to hit
- 6:45Speaker 4: aircraft like that, or it just went down, or none
- 6:48Speaker 4: of this ever happened, Like there are all of these
- 6:49Speaker 4: different ideas. And then Trump started to say, well, maybe
- 6:53Speaker 4: it happened, maybe it didn't, like maybe it was an accident,
- 6:56Speaker 4: and it looked like he was trying to find a
- 6:58Speaker 4: way out. We went all the way with this claim
- 7:04Speaker 4: from Trump. We didn't have the drone is lodged in
- 7:07Speaker 4: between the two guys.
- 7:08Speaker 5: We didn't have a lot of information for the last
- 7:10Speaker 5: couple of days until this bit of information on fish.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Can we call it information, I don't know what.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I don't know what we call it.
- 7:19Speaker 4: It's a collection of words coming from the President of
- 7:21Speaker 4: the United States.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So the we did know.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Part of the information we did have is that the
- 7:26Speaker 5: pilots were apparently safe, and we don't know how that happened.
- 7:31Speaker 5: But now we're told they were rescued for the first
- 7:33Speaker 5: time in American history. I believe yings said by a
- 7:36Speaker 5: seed droneous to the president.
- 7:39Speaker 4: So this is like some of the rescue boat that's
- 7:44Speaker 4: drone powered, that went out and so according to this,
- 7:49Speaker 4: they safely landed the helicopter.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Because you can't eject from this patche So you have
- 7:54Speaker 5: to land.
- 7:55Speaker 4: There are blades as far as I understand, yes, yes,
- 7:57Speaker 4: that would complicate the objection of that.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Yes, that would be a tough one. So you have
- 8:01Speaker 5: to land it either on the land or in the water.
- 8:03Speaker 5: And they were the water and you got the autonomous
- 8:08Speaker 5: sy drones coming for you.
- 8:09Speaker 4: So they landed in the water. Uh the drone has
- 8:13Speaker 4: not blown up yet, but it's on fire. Okay, Then
- 8:17Speaker 4: they they both get out of the apache, assuming I
- 8:20Speaker 4: guess different doors, because there's a drone in between them.
- 8:24Speaker 4: According to Trump, the drone smashed through the window and
- 8:27Speaker 4: it's sitting between them. Also, these shot head drones are massive, Like,
- 8:34Speaker 4: these are not the Hesbala FPV drones. These are not
- 8:38Speaker 4: the ones that you got for Christmas and took to
- 8:40Speaker 4: the park and used one time.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Uh, they don't get drone for Christmas, That's what I.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Just These things are huge. So how a shot had drone?
- 8:53Speaker 4: A huge shot drone landed in between the pilots. Has
- 8:58Speaker 4: Trump ever seen one? I don't know if he would
- 9:00Speaker 4: tell this story if he had seen one.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I know it's a jump it.
- 9:03Speaker 5: At this point, I don't think it's even makes sense
- 9:06Speaker 5: for us to try and piece the logic together.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Maybe post we can show up a picture, like a
- 9:12Speaker 4: scaled picture of a shot compared to an apatche Actually
- 9:15Speaker 4: like they're huge anyway, Okay, so we so let's put
- 9:20Speaker 4: up a zero zero. Trump has launched a wave after
- 9:23Speaker 4: wave of strikes on Iran. Iran has responded, and now
- 9:26Speaker 4: we're supposed to be getting more. But so here's what
- 9:29Speaker 4: Trump has said after he launched several waves of these attacks.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Uh Ron's military. Iran's military is a complete and total mess.
- 9:40Speaker 4: How's your Trump? Much of it, like their navy and
- 9:42Speaker 4: air force doesn't even exist anymore. They have been completely defeated.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Iran is all talk and no action. The bully of
- 9:50Speaker 4: the Middle East is dead. They've taken too long to
- 9:53Speaker 4: negotiate a deal that would have been great for them.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Now they will have to pay the price.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Your commitment, waned about midway.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Through, Trump is like starting to actually bore me. Yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 4: it's well, even with all this spectacle.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Because under normal circumstances, him saying what he said this morning,
- 10:13Speaker 5: and even to say that they will have to pay
- 10:15Speaker 5: the price, obviously it's huge news. It is still what
- 10:19Speaker 5: we're leading the show with because it's huge news, but
- 10:21Speaker 5: he's done this so many times that what it actually
- 10:25Speaker 5: means remains in question. Unusual for the President of the
- 10:29Speaker 5: United States to speak with such strong language historically and
- 10:32Speaker 5: us be at an impasse for what actually is happening
- 10:35Speaker 5: right now.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Yeah, and he even went back to a a new
- 10:40Speaker 4: like his all Praise Be to Allah he posted this morning,
- 10:47Speaker 4: whereas the all Praise to a Lah, I'm not finding it.
- 10:50Speaker 4: But he did another one. If he's on a complete
- 10:53Speaker 4: and total rampage on truth.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Social quesionly about Joe Scarborough and he's.
- 10:58Speaker 4: And he did it. He again, he did his Praise
- 11:01Speaker 4: be to Allah, which is boomer posting, which is to
- 11:04Speaker 4: try to try to put some rationality to it. I
- 11:08Speaker 4: think when he does his praise be to a law
- 11:10Speaker 4: nonsense his he's trying to say I'm crazy. He's trying
- 11:16Speaker 4: to do the Nixon like, I'm so crazy that you
- 11:20Speaker 4: better make a deal with me because I'm so crazy.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I'm just throwing out random praise be to allahs.
- 11:25Speaker 5: But do you think it's an it's a concerted effort,
- 11:27Speaker 5: or do you think it is just crazy.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I think it's I think it's concerned. I think he's
- 11:31Speaker 4: I think it's him trying to.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But not to be meta. That's kind of crazy in
- 11:34Speaker 1: and of itself.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it'll work. It's it's silly.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Trying to be that crazy and sounding that crazy. Because
- 11:43Speaker 5: you were trying to be that crazy, I think reflects
- 11:45Speaker 5: a genuine crazy.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yes, so that in that sense, Yes, it's a put on,
- 11:49Speaker 4: but it's not so Oriyan Foreign Minister A Ragchi posted
- 11:54Speaker 4: and we can put up this next element. This was
- 11:57Speaker 4: his response to the Apache going down. He said, foreign
- 12:00Speaker 4: forces in proximity to our territory are at constant risk
- 12:03Speaker 4: on account of their own human errors, plane accidents, or
- 12:07Speaker 4: potentially being caught in crossfire. To reduce risk, best solution
- 12:11Speaker 4: is for them to leave. We prefer language of diplomacy,
- 12:15Speaker 4: but speak other languages too. And so here he was
- 12:20Speaker 4: he's being a tough guy, but also leaving kind of
- 12:23Speaker 4: an opening for Trump at this point to say, okay,
- 12:25Speaker 4: this was an accident, like and what he's saying is like,
- 12:29Speaker 4: if you don't like these accidents, if you don't want
- 12:31Speaker 4: your Apache helicopters crashing into drones and landing in the
- 12:36Speaker 4: strait of hermoves and then getting picked up by an
- 12:39Speaker 4: autonomous sea drone, then don't have your Apache helicopters flying
- 12:43Speaker 4: over the sea of hormones, a strait of hormones, like
- 12:45Speaker 4: leave go somewhere else, which there's actually no flaws in
- 12:51Speaker 4: that logic, like if you don't have your helicopters in Iran,
- 12:55Speaker 4: they won't be crashing. They won't be crashing in Iran.
- 12:58Speaker 5: So the question for Trump is obviously what it has been.
- 13:04Speaker 5: How much longer is it worth the straight offom moves
- 13:07Speaker 5: being closed? Do you escalate or do you de escalate
- 13:12Speaker 5: and look like you're taking an l something worse than
- 13:15Speaker 5: the JCPOA risk everybody covering it as being worse than
- 13:18Speaker 5: the jcpoa risk, Mark Levin breaking off your beautiful budding friendship.
- 13:24Speaker 5: That's where he finds himself to the point that you're
- 13:26Speaker 5: making about, well, if there are no Apache helicopters in
- 13:28Speaker 5: the straight ofform moves, then you won't have any problems
- 13:30Speaker 5: in the straight UPOM moves.
- 13:31Speaker 1: So part of what Trump has been trying.
- 13:33Speaker 5: To avoid is exactly escalatory potential like this, If those
- 13:38Speaker 5: pilots had died, what would have come from this week?
- 13:43Speaker 5: The week ahead would be very different, of course, would
- 13:45Speaker 5: be very different.
- 13:46Speaker 1: It sounds like, according to the President's story, that was
- 13:48Speaker 1: a rather close call. According to the president's story, we should.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Say, although as Mirandi is pointing out, Trump and as
- 13:55Speaker 4: old Professor Papal always points out, Trump is not actually
- 13:58Speaker 4: totally in control of this, keeps wanting to toggle up
- 14:01Speaker 4: and down and back and forth the level of hostility here.
- 14:05Speaker 4: But he also doesn't have the ability to control what's
- 14:08Speaker 4: going on. And so as Mirandi is saying, Iran is
- 14:12Speaker 4: planning a massive regional retaliation for what happened overnight. Now
- 14:17Speaker 4: on the point of the naval blockade, and I found this,
- 14:20Speaker 4: I can send this to mac Trump says, the fake
- 14:24Speaker 4: news media refuses to report how effective the US naval
- 14:27Speaker 4: blockade is, the most successful blockade in the history of
- 14:30Speaker 4: naval warfare. Nothing gets through unless we want it to.
- 14:34Speaker 4: It is a steel wall. Iran is doing zero business,
- 14:37Speaker 4: not paying their military or any of their bills, and
- 14:40Speaker 4: quickly becoming a failed nation. Lots of oil. Is getting
- 14:43Speaker 4: out praise be to allah President Donald J. Trump, And
- 14:47Speaker 4: so that's him again celebrating his successes and then adding
- 14:55Speaker 4: in a little twist of adding in a little twist
- 14:57Speaker 4: of crazy. So the the attacks themselves. Actually you want
- 15:02Speaker 4: to talk about a one while I send this to.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Uh yeah, well yeah, so actually we're starting with breaking
- 15:09Speaker 5: news this morning on the President's comments, but of course
- 15:12Speaker 5: what we'd planned to start with is the strikes yesterday,
- 15:15Speaker 5: so we can put a one up on the screen.
- 15:17Speaker 5: This is from Scentcom posted at five pm last night.
- 15:21Speaker 5: US Central Command Forces began launching self defense strikes against
- 15:25Speaker 5: Iran at five pm Eastern today at the Commander in
- 15:27Speaker 5: Chief's direction, no quote self defense strikes the language there.
- 15:31Speaker 5: In response, Com went on to say to yesterday's downing
- 15:34Speaker 5: of a US Army Apache helicopter, the mission is a
- 15:37Speaker 5: proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression. And Ryan that language
- 15:43Speaker 5: in the last sentence. You've covered this much closer than
- 15:46Speaker 5: I have over the years. That's unusual language from Centcom.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Is it not to say this is a proportional response
- 15:53Speaker 5: to unjustified Iranian aggression? It's very It sort of rereaks
- 15:57Speaker 5: of desperation. You're in announcing strikes. You are, as Sentcom,
- 16:02Speaker 5: not the president, not a political group, but Sankcom telling
- 16:06Speaker 5: you that it is proportional in response to unjustified attacks.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Right, which they're right it's it's it's following. It's flowing
- 16:14Speaker 4: directly from Trump, where Trump is trying to say, I'm
- 16:18Speaker 4: going to hit you. A shot had lodged in between
- 16:22Speaker 4: my pilots, and so I'm going to hit you back.
- 16:25Speaker 4: But you shouldn't retaliate significantly. You can do a little bit,
- 16:29Speaker 4: go hit Kuwait a little bit, but don't. But let's
- 16:33Speaker 4: all move on and get back to the deal, get
- 16:35Speaker 4: back to the deal making. In fact, we have reports
- 16:37Speaker 4: that the Katari negotiators are like on our way right
- 16:40Speaker 4: now to Islamabad and maybe we'll get a deal today,
- 16:44Speaker 4: Like who knows. But Trump is trying, he's trying desperately
- 16:50Speaker 4: to be the madman but also remain in control. But
- 16:54Speaker 4: he didn't stop with that first wave of attax. We
- 16:56Speaker 4: can put up a one on they launched over night
- 17:00Speaker 4: a second and third wave of attacks on the jask
- 17:04Speaker 4: Port uh Kueim Obarik drop site reported fresh explosion sounds
- 17:09Speaker 4: also reported in syric syric, and we can talk about
- 17:13Speaker 4: the water tanks that were hit there. And Iraqi news
- 17:18Speaker 4: sources reported large numbers of US fighter jets flying over
- 17:21Speaker 4: Iraq near the Iranian border. Then a third wave of
- 17:26Speaker 4: strikes went through near Bandera, bas Uh, Kesh, Kesham Island.
- 17:34Speaker 4: So hitting all across the kind of western, southern and
- 17:38Speaker 4: even see central Iran and hitting hitting tape hitting appear
- 17:41Speaker 4: to hit Tehran US as well. We can put up
- 17:45Speaker 4: a two the uh in syric. It was reported that
- 17:49Speaker 4: two residential water reservoirs were struck. UH. You also you
- 17:55Speaker 4: also had in another region of Iran water water tanks,
- 18:01Speaker 4: water tanks hit as we just mentioned, so ten minimum
- 18:06Speaker 4: tens of thousands of people affected by this. It is
- 18:10Speaker 4: it is a war crime of the highest order to
- 18:12Speaker 4: hit water infrastructure for obvious reasons. Anybody who is smart
- 18:17Speaker 4: enough to have been able to click play on this
- 18:18Speaker 4: understands why why that is. And so if you put
- 18:22Speaker 4: up a three, Iran you know began retaliating by hitting.
- 18:27Speaker 4: So this is so strange, like what are they doing.
- 18:30Speaker 4: They're hitting military targets. I thought you're supposed to hit like,
- 18:33Speaker 4: you know, the water reservoirs. But strangely, Iran decides to
- 18:38Speaker 4: attack the US fifth Fleet base in Bahrain and on
- 18:43Speaker 4: other bases across the region. You had at tax reported
- 18:48Speaker 4: in Kuwait as well. The Running Armed Forces released in
- 18:54Speaker 4: their statement multiple US bases in the region were struck
- 18:57Speaker 4: by running army and energies forces. Quote, if the US
- 19:00Speaker 4: criminal army repeats its aggression against the Islamic Republic, massive
- 19:04Speaker 4: and wider strikes will be carried out against designated targets
- 19:07Speaker 4: across the region. That's that's kind of that's kind of
- 19:11Speaker 4: where we are with Trump threatening, you know, further further attacks.
- 19:18Speaker 4: We can, we can, we can put up a five
- 19:21Speaker 4: b actually, Trump threatening further attacks, and then the Iranians
- 19:24Speaker 4: saying if if they continue, like, we're prepared to expand
- 19:27Speaker 4: this war. Trump uh says, he tells ABC. Quote, somebody
- 19:33Speaker 4: is going to have to build all that infrastructure, new bridges,
- 19:36Speaker 4: new this, new that, new power plants. They're talking about
- 19:39Speaker 4: a trillion dollars as a run, probably more. That's why
- 19:42Speaker 4: we'll probably get involved in rebuilding. But we'll get half
- 19:47Speaker 4: their oil yep. Okay, so we're gonna get half their oil,
- 19:51Speaker 4: and then we're going to rebuild their country. Yep. First
- 19:54Speaker 4: we're going to destroy it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Well, Trump's friends are going to rebuild their Trump's friends.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Yeah, somehow American people just can't see the wisdom of
- 20:04Speaker 4: this and put up a six.
- 20:05Speaker 1: What's wrong with you guys?
- 20:07Speaker 4: Come on what's wrong with yes. Trump approval stays near
- 20:10Speaker 4: record low as Americans expect higher gas prices, and gas
- 20:14Speaker 4: prices have been taking down a little bit the last
- 20:18Speaker 4: few days, maybe weeks, slightly under for what it's you know,
- 20:23Speaker 4: it's I think people are bracing for much worse to come.
- 20:27Speaker 4: There we have been, you know, flooding the market with
- 20:32Speaker 4: the strategic reserves and drawing down inventories in order to
- 20:36Speaker 4: keep prices as low as possible. We can put up
- 20:38Speaker 4: a six B just to try to stave off the
- 20:43Speaker 4: very worst of this. This is from drop site as well.
- 20:46Speaker 4: US crewed inventories fell sharply last week for a combined
- 20:49Speaker 4: draw of about seventeen million barrels. According to American Patrollum
- 20:53Speaker 4: Institute data, commercial crew drew down nine point one barrels,
- 20:58Speaker 4: while the Trump administration released another seven zero point nine
- 21:00Speaker 4: million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This is way
- 21:05Speaker 4: ahead of the of the estimates that you know, the
- 21:10Speaker 4: oil analysts have been expecting the draw down to go
- 21:13Speaker 4: much much slower the last couple of weeks, and we're
- 21:17Speaker 4: drawing down much faster than they expected. You guys can
- 21:22Speaker 4: kind of be the judge of whether or not you
- 21:24Speaker 4: think that's a good thing or not well.
- 21:25Speaker 5: And one thing I wanted to highlight from this Reuter's pole,
- 21:28Speaker 5: the Reuter's rite up of a pole, This is a
- 21:31Speaker 5: sentence that Trump dreads. Americans are now more dissatisfied with
- 21:36Speaker 5: Trump's performance on the issue of cost of living than
- 21:41Speaker 5: they were of his Democratic predecessor in office, Joe Biden,
- 21:43Speaker 5: who closed out his term with twenty nine percent approval
- 21:46Speaker 5: on the cost of living and sixty three percent Trump's
- 21:50Speaker 5: Under that, Trump is at thirty five percent of respondents
- 21:53Speaker 5: saying they approve of Trump's performance in the White House overall. Now,
- 21:57Speaker 5: let's go back to cost of living in particular.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Are let's see where it is here.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Twenty two percent of Americans approve how Trump is managing
- 22:04Speaker 5: the cost of living for you as households, compared to
- 22:06Speaker 5: seventy percent disapproval. So again, Biden was at twenty nine
- 22:09Speaker 5: percent and sixty three percent disapproval.
- 22:12Speaker 1: We're not even in margin of very territory. That's a
- 22:14Speaker 1: that's a resounding the pictory for Biden.
- 22:18Speaker 4: The people yearn for Bidenomics. Yeah, they've given a dose,
- 22:22Speaker 4: given a dose of Trump's I.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Think we're still getting a little Bidenomics here, to be.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Honest, But which part of the Bidenomics are we getting.
- 22:29Speaker 5: I think we still have some inflation from overheated COVID spending,
- 22:32Speaker 5: and I think probably some greedflation too. And I think
- 22:35Speaker 5: actually what we're probably seeing now Trump nomics is even
- 22:37Speaker 5: more greedflation when the prices went up after epic fury.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Right, I think I don't know if that's well, none
- 22:44Speaker 4: of that is Bidenomics. Well, well, because the spending was
- 22:47Speaker 4: both split between Trump and Biden.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Yeah, but the Biden the two bills that Biden passed
- 22:52Speaker 5: were heavy spenders.
- 22:54Speaker 4: That's true, but Trump completely slashed the second one, so
- 22:58Speaker 4: Inflation Reduction Act, all of that spending was completely withdrawn.
- 23:03Speaker 1: The green energy spending.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Which was most of it, was bulk of it.
- 23:08Speaker 1: There was a lot of spending.
- 23:09Speaker 4: So though I'm going with the war, it's.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Clearly the war. To be fair, it's clearly the war.
- 23:16Speaker 5: But all I was saying is that there's still some
- 23:19Speaker 5: I think there's still some inflation from Biden spending, although
- 23:21Speaker 5: actually we'll have inflation data to talk about in the
- 23:24Speaker 5: next block. When Biden left office, inflation was lower than
- 23:31Speaker 5: it is now, so Trump gets elected again. We're going
- 23:33Speaker 5: to talk about this in a second, but just to
- 23:35Speaker 5: round this all out, Trump gets elected on a promise
- 23:37Speaker 5: to bring down inflation. Well, it had been going down
- 23:40Speaker 5: at a rate until the war that was now lower
- 23:44Speaker 5: than what it is post war. So there's no question
- 23:47Speaker 5: that it is primarily the war. But Ryan and I
- 23:50Speaker 5: just debated those stupid little quip that I made something.
- 23:52Speaker 5: You get a little extra in this block.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Let's move on to prices. Let's do it. So we
- 24:02Speaker 4: did want to get to this extraordinarily disturbing story emerging
- 24:06Speaker 4: out of Israelian occupied territories. You may recall that recently
- 24:15Speaker 4: a seven month old baby was killed by IDF soldiers.
- 24:20Speaker 4: And actually, let's start with so that people have the
- 24:24Speaker 4: IDF's context. Let's start with their statement. That would be
- 24:29Speaker 4: a eight, because then we're going we now have video
- 24:32Speaker 4: of what actually happened. So here's what the IDF had
- 24:34Speaker 4: said on June fifth, earlier today, during operational activity in
- 24:38Speaker 4: the area of Hebron, IDF soldiers perceived a vehicle accelerating
- 24:43Speaker 4: toward them. Got that an IDF soldier responded with single shots.
- 24:48Speaker 4: We're inventing new phrases here. Single shots toward the vehicle.
- 24:53Speaker 4: As a result, three Palestinians were injured and evacuated for
- 24:57Speaker 4: medical treatment. Strongly suggests that the Israeli soldiers had something
- 25:04Speaker 4: to do with this evacuation. By the way, an initial
- 25:07Speaker 4: inquiry inquiry is an interesting word. Found that those injured
- 25:12Speaker 4: were uninvolved civilians. The incident is under review and the
- 25:17Speaker 4: findings will be submitted for review by the relevant authorities.
- 25:21Speaker 4: The last line is how you know when you're reading
- 25:23Speaker 4: these statements, that's something very dark happened. The IDF expresses
- 25:28Speaker 4: deep sorrow for any harm caused to uninvolved individuals. Immediately,
- 25:33Speaker 4: the reports were that they had shot and killed a
- 25:35Speaker 4: seven month old baby. Bets Alem, the Israeli Human Rights
- 25:39Speaker 4: organization has since obtained two videos of this attack. And
- 25:46Speaker 4: so let's take a look at the footage that Betsalem
- 25:49Speaker 4: has obtained. And so there you see the car that
- 25:52Speaker 4: was quote unquote perceived to be accelerating toward them. It's
- 25:56Speaker 4: nowhere near them when you see the soldier opened fire
- 26:01Speaker 4: on it. And there you can see the father holding
- 26:08Speaker 4: his murdered son in the street and then in the hospital.
- 26:12Speaker 4: And here is Sam, this is this is young, this
- 26:16Speaker 4: is young Sammy before he was he was killed. The
- 26:21Speaker 4: id F has since told Israeli media that these were
- 26:25Speaker 4: young Israeli soldiers. Another thing, as if that that somehow
- 26:31Speaker 4: exonerates the what's going on. Another thing you noticed in
- 26:35Speaker 4: that video is the complete lack of assistance. What you
- 26:42Speaker 4: immediately notice, of course, is a soldier opening fire into
- 26:48Speaker 4: a car with a family, a mom, a dad, and
- 26:52Speaker 4: a baby and killing the baby, which has to reflect
- 26:57Speaker 4: an extraordinary amount of dehumanization going on between the people
- 27:01Speaker 4: on either side of that wall. The fact that there
- 27:06Speaker 4: was no attempt to help them immediately, like you don't.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Did you see any Israeli paramedics, Israeli soldiers anywhere near
- 27:16Speaker 4: the baby? Is his life bled out of him? No,
- 27:19Speaker 4: you did not. They just kept it moving. There have
- 27:26Speaker 4: been no arrests made here for up to me, everyone
- 27:29Speaker 4: in the chain of command would be under arrest and
- 27:33Speaker 4: held without bond, top to bottom involved with this. This
- 27:37Speaker 4: is five days ago, they knew this happened. I made
- 27:42Speaker 4: the point also that Israeli American police forces, I don't
- 27:49Speaker 4: know that they've killed a seven month old baby and forever,
- 27:54Speaker 4: but when they kill when American police officers were ice
- 28:00Speaker 4: officials or deep or CVP. If they kill an American citizen,
- 28:05Speaker 4: there are enormous protests in the streets. Twenty twenty saw
- 28:10Speaker 4: riots across the country or the killing of a grown
- 28:15Speaker 4: man is Israeli forces kill a baby and there are
- 28:25Speaker 4: a handful of people that you'll see protests, perhaps one
- 28:30Speaker 4: or two maybe was standing together. But where's the outcry,
- 28:37Speaker 4: like your country does this and you're okay with it.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Your country does this and doesn't arrest the people involved
- 28:45Speaker 4: and you're okay with that.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I think that's actually the critical point, as
- 28:48Speaker 5: you can make the argument that tragic mistakes happen.
- 28:54Speaker 1: That's they could be making.
- 28:55Speaker 4: That argument, and let them make it in court, right.
- 28:59Speaker 5: Exactly right, and again, like you can make the argument
- 29:02Speaker 5: that we took all the precautions, we followed all of
- 29:05Speaker 5: the relevant salient, relevant statutes, and just this tragic, tragic
- 29:11Speaker 5: error happened. And what did they say after Shrinabu Akla
- 29:16Speaker 5: was killed. Well, but eventually, after it took a long
- 29:19Speaker 5: long time, eventually I think they.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Said something like they.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Were conciliatory in one way or another, but nobody's actually
- 29:27Speaker 5: being and actually somewhat similar in that case, but here.
- 29:32Speaker 5: It looks like no disciplinary proceedings so.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Far, no, no nothing. And Hebron is that this is
- 29:39Speaker 4: the famous town where Americans go there all the time
- 29:43Speaker 4: and come back deeply radicalized by what they've seen. It's
- 29:47Speaker 4: one of because there are checkpoints everywhere, and Jewish Israelis
- 29:52Speaker 4: are allowed to move around to different areas that Palestinians
- 29:54Speaker 4: are not allowed to move around to. There are homes
- 29:57Speaker 4: where you're only allowed to enter from one direction, you know,
- 30:00Speaker 4: the doors are barred on the other side. They're homes
- 30:04Speaker 4: where their entire streets where the Jewish Israeli homes are
- 30:09Speaker 4: on top. And the Palestinians have had to put netting
- 30:13Speaker 4: up along all of their alleys because to stop to
- 30:17Speaker 4: catch the trash that just they're just constantly throwing trash.
- 30:23Speaker 4: It's it's this deeply militarized occupied area and so these
- 30:29Speaker 4: soldiers are not remotely at risk at anyway, because like
- 30:32Speaker 4: the place is so thoroughly locked down in such a
- 30:36Speaker 4: dystopian way that they was saying people go there and
- 30:39Speaker 4: going there is the thing. That's where Tanahasi Coats went
- 30:43Speaker 4: and described like having the bailifted before this is completely insane.
- 30:48Speaker 4: So that's that's where this was. They're not at risk
- 30:51Speaker 4: from anybody there, let alone from a seven month old
- 30:53Speaker 4: baby and his parents driving slowly in the street. These
- 31:01Speaker 4: soldiers clearly felt they could do this and get away
- 31:05Speaker 4: with it.
- 31:05Speaker 1: And we'll see so far looking like that's possible.
- 31:11Speaker 5: In more bad news, we should take a look care
- 31:13Speaker 5: at the economy because CPI number just dropped, Ryan, the
- 31:18Speaker 5: much awaited CPI inflation number just dropped.
- 31:22Speaker 1: We have it for you here. We could put the
- 31:23Speaker 1: new element up on the screen.
- 31:24Speaker 5: Inflation, according to CNBC, accelerated in May as rising energy
- 31:28Speaker 5: costs contributed to pain for consumers, though underlying pressures were
- 31:33Speaker 5: less intense. The Consumer Price Index, which as CNBC is
- 31:36Speaker 5: describing here as a broad gauge of goods and services
- 31:38Speaker 5: costs across the US economy, rose at a seasonally adjusted
- 31:41Speaker 5: point five percent for the month, putting the annual inflation
- 31:43Speaker 5: rate at four point two percent. According to the BLS
- 31:49Speaker 5: report that was released this morning, both numbers were in
- 31:52Speaker 5: line with the Dow Drones consensus. CNBC ads inflation climbed
- 31:55Speaker 5: above four percent for the first time in three years.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Where does that put us right back in the pandemic era?
- 32:01Speaker 5: Ryan and CNBC says the increased met expectations amid concerns
- 32:05Speaker 5: over how much the surge and energy prices would impact
- 32:08Speaker 5: the economy. The level was the highest since April twenty
- 32:11Speaker 5: twenty three, and above the three point eight percent level
- 32:14Speaker 5: from April.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I just can't put into words the depth of my
- 32:19Speaker 4: hatred for Trump at this point. He did this one
- 32:23Speaker 4: hundred and fifty percent on his own, Like he inherited
- 32:26Speaker 4: an economy that was improving.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, he.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Inherited inflation that was coming down. He interest rates were
- 32:36Speaker 4: coming down, mortgage rates were coming down. Stock market doing well,
- 32:41Speaker 4: stock market is still doing well. It won't be great today, probably,
- 32:46Speaker 4: And he just did this for no reason or for
- 32:50Speaker 4: Nenyahu whatever.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Yeah, the future sliding as we speak.
- 32:57Speaker 4: And so the times right up of this has some
- 33:00Speaker 4: other like it's bad at the top line is bad,
- 33:03Speaker 4: you go even, you go second, the third line, four line,
- 33:06Speaker 4: they're all bad. They finish their kind of blog posts
- 33:10Speaker 4: update the main factor keeping a lid on prices, So
- 33:12Speaker 4: it would be much worse consumers who have by now
- 33:17Speaker 4: spent their tax refunds and have lately seen smaller increases
- 33:20Speaker 4: in their paychecks. So just to explain what they mean
- 33:23Speaker 4: by that the main thing keeping prices down from where
- 33:29Speaker 4: they would otherwise be is that you don't have any money.
- 33:33Speaker 4: And because you don't have any money, you can't pay
- 33:37Speaker 4: these high prices. So businesses can't charge the prices that
- 33:42Speaker 4: they need or want to keep up with the pressures
- 33:46Speaker 4: that they're under. So a bunch of them are just
- 33:48Speaker 4: going to go under. Some of them won't be able
- 33:51Speaker 4: to do their greedflation as much as they would like
- 33:53Speaker 4: to otherwise. But this is what's known in economics as
- 33:57Speaker 4: quote demand destruction by saying, one way to keep inflation
- 34:03Speaker 4: down is to make sure that there are more poor people.
- 34:06Speaker 4: And because if there's more poor people, there's fewer people
- 34:08Speaker 4: in line at the shop, Fewer people in line the shop,
- 34:11Speaker 4: shopkeeper can't raise their prices as much as they want.
- 34:14Speaker 5: So when Trump took office, CPI was at three percent,
- 34:19Speaker 5: so January twenty.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Twenty five, heading down.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Heading down, so it goes down.
- 34:24Speaker 5: It jumped a little bit after quote Liberation Day, but
- 34:27Speaker 5: really only back up to two point seven to two
- 34:29Speaker 5: point nine percent.
- 34:31Speaker 1: January twenty twenty.
- 34:32Speaker 5: Six, CPI is at two point four percent two point
- 34:37Speaker 5: four percent.
- 34:38Speaker 4: What happened in February. What did Trump do in February. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 4: oh yeah, that's right, he bombed a run.
- 34:44Speaker 5: YEP, two point four percent in February twenty twenty six,
- 34:48Speaker 5: January twenty twenty six. By March, it's climbing to three
- 34:52Speaker 5: point three right now, four point two. As a reminder,
- 34:55Speaker 5: three percent is where it was when President Trump took
- 34:58Speaker 5: office in January of twenty twenty. This is SCNBC noted
- 35:01Speaker 5: the highest since April of twenty twenty three, which is
- 35:04Speaker 5: right as we were coming down from the pandemic high
- 35:07Speaker 5: in June of twenty twenty two, CPI was at nine
- 35:10Speaker 5: point one percent, so.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Climbing back up.
- 35:12Speaker 5: But actually, if you go historically without the pandemic, the
- 35:16Speaker 5: CPI hasn't been at four point two percent again, excluding
- 35:19Speaker 5: the pandemic, for a very eighty, very long time. I'm
- 35:23Speaker 5: going back here to post recession. It's looking like, yeah,
- 35:28Speaker 5: middle of the recession, we got up to five percent
- 35:30Speaker 5: June two eight.
- 35:32Speaker 4: The other thing that the report makes clear is that
- 35:34Speaker 4: Trump's other policy, which is to just flood money to AI,
- 35:39Speaker 4: is also driving up prices all over the place in
- 35:42Speaker 4: the obvious way, driving up your utility bills, your electric bills,
- 35:47Speaker 4: but also for decades, what we've experienced as consumers is
- 35:52Speaker 4: the cost of technology going down. Can you know your
- 35:55Speaker 4: TV's come out? Wow, that's cool. I can't afford it.
- 35:58Speaker 4: I'll wait a year or two, So the price of
- 36:00Speaker 4: that comes way down. That's been, it's been what's going on.
- 36:04Speaker 4: But because the AI build out is putting such pressure
- 36:08Speaker 4: on chips, the price of the chips that underline all
- 36:12Speaker 4: of these consumer products is going way up. And so
- 36:15Speaker 4: now according to this report, you're seeing that that one
- 36:20Speaker 4: thing we'd kind of come to say, all right, everything sucks,
- 36:23Speaker 4: and this is what you hear from like the Matty
- 36:25Speaker 4: Glacis Is of the world that yes, okay, a lot
- 36:27Speaker 4: of things are bad, but you've got like a fifty
- 36:30Speaker 4: five inch TV and you didn't pay much for it.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Isn't that cool? Even that is going away? Yeah, because
- 36:36Speaker 4: the price of the chips inside that fifty five inch
- 36:38Speaker 4: TV are driving up the price of that that TV.
- 36:40Speaker 4: So even the little treats they give you to try
- 36:43Speaker 4: to compensate for the collapse of everything else, those are
- 36:48Speaker 4: going up.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Yeah, And let's put up on the screen the Apple
- 36:52Speaker 5: dip yesterday. This is going to be B two so
- 36:55Speaker 5: Apple reveals actually an anthropical revealed fable. Yes, Apple reveals
- 37:01Speaker 5: its new serie AI, also much awaited, and Apple shares
- 37:06Speaker 5: were sliding. According to CNBC yesterday, it's sort of a dud,
- 37:10Speaker 5: people felt like, but it was a reminder Ryan that
- 37:13Speaker 5: some thirty percent of the S and P five hundred
- 37:15Speaker 5: is based on mag seven stocks. And we've had Jo
- 37:19Speaker 5: Braun to talk about this from a head of the CFPB.
- 37:22Speaker 5: This is a really, really, really shaky economy, and to
- 37:25Speaker 5: this question of the Trump administration's accelerationism on AI. I
- 37:30Speaker 5: was at a pen and pad with Senator Rick Scott
- 37:32Speaker 5: earlier this week and he was expressing if people were
- 37:35Speaker 5: asking him about AI. He was wearing a pin on
- 37:37Speaker 5: his lapel that said jobs. So he was getting asked
- 37:40Speaker 5: questions by the other journalists in the room about if
- 37:43Speaker 5: he's worried on that AI will cause a huge white
- 37:47Speaker 5: pot of jobs. He said he thinks that's all kind
- 37:49Speaker 5: of alarmist and that technology always creates jobs. It all
- 37:54Speaker 5: comes out in the wash, that sort of thing. And
- 37:56Speaker 5: so I then asked him, aren't we in a trap then,
- 38:00Speaker 5: So if this is such a huge part of the
- 38:02Speaker 5: market that's predicated on Dario Ammaday's basically promised to take
- 38:07Speaker 5: out fifty percent of white collar jobs in the next
- 38:09Speaker 5: several years. Are we either in for mass layoffs or
- 38:13Speaker 5: a stock market crash? And he said, quote unquote, there's
- 38:17Speaker 5: no logic to the explosion in AI stocks, So, I said,
- 38:21Speaker 5: is Trump putting us further into the bubble? He said, quote,
- 38:24Speaker 5: I think the difference is probably I wouldn't be talking.
- 38:27Speaker 1: About it in my life.
- 38:28Speaker 5: I can talk about jobs, right, I can talk about
- 38:30Speaker 5: schools and talk about something. I can measure the fact
- 38:31Speaker 5: that the market's trading at all time highs. I'm going
- 38:33Speaker 5: to say, man, I'm not doing that.
- 38:37Speaker 1: It did not make me feel any better whatsoever about
- 38:40Speaker 1: the state of the economy. He goes.
- 38:41Speaker 5: I ran a public company. Your stock is tied to
- 38:43Speaker 5: what people think it's worth, not necessarily what it's worth now.
- 38:45Speaker 5: As an investor, I can put a value on it
- 38:47Speaker 5: until comfortable. Over a period of time, I can make money.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I'm not buying something at fifty times earnings. How many
- 38:52Speaker 5: things really keep growing at fifty times earnings?
- 38:54Speaker 1: Not many. So SpaceX is going to be worth one
- 38:56Speaker 1: point eight trillion, right, I think the revenues are like
- 38:59Speaker 1: four or five billion dollars in revenues. And we could
- 39:01Speaker 1: get into.
- 39:02Speaker 4: That, but and who is this again, Rick Scott?
- 39:03Speaker 5: Rick Scott, Senator Scott who's been bringing in some of
- 39:06Speaker 5: these tech giants to talk to Republican Senators and get
- 39:10Speaker 5: them to ask questions back and forth with one another.
- 39:13Speaker 1: So has been studying the issue, we'll say.
- 39:16Speaker 4: And so, while while energy prices are surging, I wanted
- 39:20Speaker 4: to highlight one thing put up before here. This is
- 39:23Speaker 4: a new report out this morning from the Solar Energy
- 39:26Speaker 4: Industries Association, which is the trade group that represents the
- 39:31Speaker 4: solar industry. As you know, Biden put tons of money
- 39:36Speaker 4: into the clean energy market, kickstarted that thing. Trump ripped
- 39:43Speaker 4: it all out, saying no, like he doesn't like clean energy,
- 39:46Speaker 4: he wants he likes the dirty stuff. That's America's future
- 39:51Speaker 4: is in oil and gas. And that is going to
- 39:54Speaker 4: be our critical advantage against these other countries like China
- 39:59Speaker 4: that are run by ummies who have been fooled by
- 40:02Speaker 4: this clean energy thing. So ripped away all of the subsidies.
- 40:06Speaker 4: So it's a you know, straight up just market question
- 40:11Speaker 4: of how much you know, what is what is utility?
- 40:15Speaker 4: What is a resident what does a residential home. What
- 40:18Speaker 4: does what does a company want to do when it
- 40:19Speaker 4: comes to building out energy? So let's let's see if
- 40:24Speaker 4: the dummies were right or wrong. Well, we do see, indeed,
- 40:28Speaker 4: a twenty seven percent decline year over year in installation
- 40:33Speaker 4: of solar and a forty two decline compared with Q
- 40:39Speaker 4: four of twenty twenty five. Okay, so solar installation is
- 40:43Speaker 4: going down. But what do we see Ninety one percent
- 40:48Speaker 4: of all new electricity generating capacity added in the first
- 40:53Speaker 4: quarter was solar.
- 40:54Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 40:56Speaker 4: So people are getting we're saying here right. So they
- 41:01Speaker 4: stripped away all the subsidies. They succeeded in harming the
- 41:06Speaker 4: industry such that we are installing much less solar than
- 41:10Speaker 4: we would be otherwise, and that we were when it
- 41:12Speaker 4: was when there were credits and other incentives to do it.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Yet we're still not doing anything but solar because solar
- 41:21Speaker 4: is cheaper. And I don't know what part of this
- 41:26Speaker 4: Trump doesn't understand. This is the first quarter, by the way,
- 41:29Speaker 4: which you just you read the numbers off, inflation was low,
- 41:34Speaker 4: we were not at war with Iran. We entered war
- 41:37Speaker 4: with Iran in the the final month of the first quarter,
- 41:40Speaker 4: but for most of it. We were not at war
- 41:42Speaker 4: with Iran, we had not destroyed the fist Behinney. So
- 41:45Speaker 4: even then, ninety one percent of new electricity was solar
- 41:52Speaker 4: and that and that's solar and battery storage, so it's
- 41:57Speaker 4: not just soldar, but the battery storage is related either
- 41:59Speaker 4: to end or solar effectively. And so I would imagine
- 42:06Speaker 4: that the second quarter is going to see ninety eight percent.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Like who out there is like, you know what we
- 42:11Speaker 4: need to do. We need to invest deeply in building
- 42:14Speaker 4: out our fossil fuel infrastructure at this point.
- 42:16Speaker 5: So great job Trump, crazy bang up job creat I mean,
- 42:24Speaker 5: that's nobody is talking about that.
- 42:26Speaker 1: It's super interesting.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I ran into this solar person at the event I.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Was going to ask you to last night. Sounds like
- 42:32Speaker 1: something that someone was like, hey, you should look into this.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And indeed, Ryan.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Linkedn Emily and I were supposed to meet up at
- 42:38Speaker 4: a right wing substack event last night.
- 42:40Speaker 1: It was not a right wing No, it wasn't we
- 42:44Speaker 1: determined this we were.
- 42:45Speaker 4: It was right wings. They didn't invite me. I just
- 42:47Speaker 4: crashed and I was.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Like you can have Thomas Pain, yeah, but get your job.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Site crew was there, and I know I assumed.
- 42:52Speaker 1: It was was right wing too, but it was not anyway.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Anywhere you see a f founding father impersonator, you usually say, oh,
- 42:59Speaker 5: this has got to be right wing, but it was.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Actually it was kind of like a Georgetown set, unusual
- 43:02Speaker 1: scene for us.
- 43:04Speaker 4: So I met Jacob from TMZ. That was very cool.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I love that.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I'm so jealous. I'm so jealous.
- 43:10Speaker 4: But also met the Solar person who I had known before.
- 43:12Speaker 4: But she's like, hey, we have this report coming out
- 43:14Speaker 4: tonight if you want to see it. There you go like,
- 43:17Speaker 4: just wild.
- 43:17Speaker 1: This is why we go to these things.
- 43:18Speaker 4: That's right, and we do it for you. We do
- 43:20Speaker 4: it for you.
- 43:20Speaker 5: We drink the free beer for you. All right, let's
- 43:22Speaker 5: move on to the election results.
- 43:27Speaker 4: Oystermen in combat veteran Graham Platner trounced sitting Governor Janet
- 43:33Speaker 4: Mills in the main election last night, winning the Democratic primary.
- 43:37Speaker 4: With most of the votes counted at this point, Platner
- 43:41Speaker 4: is sitting at seventy two percent of the vote against
- 43:44Speaker 4: Mills with twenty percent, who had suspended her campaign and
- 43:49Speaker 4: also ran candidate picked up eight percent as well. Graham
- 43:53Speaker 4: Platner with a rather energetic speech last night, and I
- 43:58Speaker 4: think you could call it it's a banger.
- 43:59Speaker 7: It was.
- 44:00Speaker 4: It was filled with bars. Went hard at his Susan Collins,
- 44:04Speaker 4: who will be his Republican opponent and also address some
- 44:08Speaker 4: of his controversies. Let's listen to a little bit of
- 44:10Speaker 4: Plantner here last night.
- 44:11Speaker 7: I am a son of rural Maine. I was a
- 44:14Speaker 7: kid who picked blueberries under the July sun, and then
- 44:17Speaker 7: one day I was a kid who signed up and
- 44:20Speaker 7: left to fight for his country. And when I returned,
- 44:24Speaker 7: I carried with me the weight of forever wars and
- 44:28Speaker 7: the struggle and the alienation that came with it. But
- 44:32Speaker 7: I am also a lucky one who found his way back,
- 44:37Speaker 7: who found a living on the scene and a home
- 44:41Speaker 7: and the community that offered love and redemption. Redemption is
- 44:47Speaker 7: not just some simple or easy destination.
- 44:50Speaker 4: It's a journey.
- 44:52Speaker 7: I've made mistakes in my life, mistakes that I regret
- 44:55Speaker 7: that I live with and I continue to learn from.
- 44:59Speaker 7: And I'm still far from perfect. But every day I
- 45:03Speaker 7: wake up and I try to be a little bit
- 45:05Speaker 7: better and a little bit kinder than I was the
- 45:08Speaker 7: day before. And if you give me the chance, I
- 45:12Speaker 7: will be a senator for the people who cannot afford
- 45:15Speaker 7: to buy a senator, I will stand up for you
- 45:31Speaker 7: and against billionaires and greedy corporations. I will serve you
- 45:40Speaker 7: the people of May, not some lobbyist or party boss.
- 45:44Speaker 7: I will be the champion for your dreams as if
- 45:49Speaker 7: it were my own, no matter the challenge or the expense,
- 45:54Speaker 7: I will fight for you. I have been willing to
- 46:02Speaker 7: die for my country. There is nothing that I will
- 46:06Speaker 7: not do for the state of Maine.
- 46:13Speaker 4: And at another point, Emily, but first of all, how
- 46:15Speaker 4: has nobody used that line before? That is a bar
- 46:18Speaker 4: which one I am. I will be a senator for
- 46:21Speaker 4: people who cannot afford to buy one.
- 46:22Speaker 1: That was the I thought that was the best line too.
- 46:25Speaker 4: What a line.
- 46:25Speaker 1: It's fantastic.
- 46:28Speaker 4: He also talked a lot about Susan Collins, how her husband,
- 46:32Speaker 4: who's who was a lobbyists and she had gotten extraordinarily wealthy,
- 46:36Speaker 4: and then he had this refrain where he took he said,
- 46:39Speaker 4: he's it rhymes with what Trump has said on the
- 46:42Speaker 4: on the on the campaign trail, which is that the
- 46:46Speaker 4: mainstream media keeps looking for that one story, that one
- 46:50Speaker 4: headline that is going to take him out. But he
- 46:53Speaker 4: said they've spent so much time trying to figure me out.
- 46:57Speaker 4: What they don't understand is it's not about me. Yes,
- 46:59Speaker 4: it's about all.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Of which is Trumpian.
- 47:00Speaker 4: By the way, the Trumpian line version is they're not
- 47:03Speaker 4: coming after me, They're coming after you, but I'm standing
- 47:05Speaker 4: in the way.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 47:07Speaker 4: It's a similar but it's it's a little more US like. Interestingly,
- 47:11Speaker 4: it's like Trump is a little more right codeed to
- 47:13Speaker 4: me and the you, and he's a little more left
- 47:16Speaker 4: code with the US. But otherwise it's the same concept.
- 47:18Speaker 5: Yes, the point is you see me as a vehicle
- 47:21Speaker 5: to advance your interests, not corpuses.
- 47:24Speaker 4: So today, and that's why they're coming after.
- 47:25Speaker 5: Me exactly, that I'm essentially a pawn in the effort
- 47:29Speaker 5: to take you down, to undermine you. And so the
- 47:32Speaker 5: NC National Republican Senatorial Committee put out a memo that
- 47:36Speaker 5: looks like they gave it to Politico this morning, saying
- 47:39Speaker 5: that Maine is now the lynchpin. That is the quote
- 47:42Speaker 5: they used, Maine is the lynch pin. They say Democrats
- 47:45Speaker 5: cannot win the majority without it. That's not necessarily true.
- 47:48Speaker 5: They could potentially do Ohio, they could potentially do Texas.
- 47:53Speaker 1: When they could do Ohio, Texas North.
- 47:56Speaker 5: Carolina, which is not out of the question at all
- 47:59Speaker 5: in the Bras, but that would be unusual. So yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 5: they probably do need main not impossible without it. But again,
- 48:05Speaker 5: NERRC this morning saying that this race is the lynchpin quote.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Grand Platner is the most left wing Senate nominee Maine
- 48:11Speaker 5: has ever seen.
- 48:12Speaker 1: That might be true.
- 48:13Speaker 5: His platform aligns directly with national progressives, featuring Medicare for all,
- 48:17Speaker 5: green new Deal, universal basic income, government funded universal childcare,
- 48:20Speaker 5: free college, and a wide up and pathway to citizenship
- 48:22Speaker 5: for illegal immigrants. You can see what in this race
- 48:27Speaker 5: they're now pivoting to, which is not Nazi stuff. Now
- 48:32Speaker 5: they are talking about the kind of nuts.
- 48:34Speaker 1: And bolts which they were not before.
- 48:36Speaker 5: I think it signals that they're pretty scared of grand
- 48:38Speaker 5: Platner at this point.
- 48:39Speaker 4: I was always the most concerned when it came to
- 48:43Speaker 4: his chances of exactly that that he actually is like
- 48:48Speaker 4: super populist and progressive.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he is far left, it's fair to say.
- 48:53Speaker 4: But and so that would have been to me, the
- 48:56Speaker 4: smart line of attack from Mills and Mills, from Collins,
- 49:01Speaker 4: from Republicans. Instead, they've spent the last several months calling
- 49:06Speaker 4: him Uh an abuser, ah, a nazi, A like fake
- 49:16Speaker 4: working class guy like going after and and a lot
- 49:21Speaker 4: of the arguments, particularly calling him a nazi, cut against
- 49:25Speaker 4: that he's a left winger. So yeah, main voters like,
- 49:29Speaker 4: wait a minute, you spent the last several months telling
- 49:31Speaker 4: us he's a nazi. You're a bunch of your online
- 49:34Speaker 4: people are still calling him a nazi and are gonna
- 49:37Speaker 4: call him a Nazi for months to come. But he's
- 49:40Speaker 4: also too far left wing. You say he hates women,
- 49:44Speaker 4: but he's too far left wing right Like it's so
- 49:47Speaker 4: they're there, they're attacks, they're inconsistent, contradictory attacks, cut against
- 49:54Speaker 4: them being able to marshal uh straightforward message. Plus yes,
- 49:59Speaker 4: like he's backing that kind of list of Bernie Sanders things,
- 50:03Speaker 4: and Bernie Sanders backs him. When he talks, he talks
- 50:07Speaker 4: in economic populism. Yes, yes, he doesn't talk in cultural
- 50:11Speaker 4: like whatever you want to call it.
- 50:13Speaker 5: He pivots cultural issues, which will be I think, I
- 50:15Speaker 5: do think will be difficult for him because the trans
- 50:18Speaker 5: participation in sports has been a big issue in Maine.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think there's currently a bill in Maine on that.
- 50:24Speaker 5: So he's going to have to right because she took
- 50:28Speaker 5: on Trump over the issue as she saw it, and
- 50:30Speaker 5: so it's going to come up. I don't know that
- 50:32Speaker 5: Susan CON's necessarily wants to lean into it either.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Susan Conn's shies.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Away from those issues for the most part, but he'll
- 50:39Speaker 5: be asked about it, and he always pivots. He actually
- 50:42Speaker 5: has good lines that I disagree with, but I think
- 50:43Speaker 5: they're good lines, pivoting it back to the economy. Every
- 50:46Speaker 5: time culture comes up, he says, literally, billionaires are the
- 50:49Speaker 5: reason you're asking me this question right when reporters ask
- 50:52Speaker 5: him the question, which is a very good line of reflection.
- 50:55Speaker 5: Disagree with it, but it is very good. Let's take
- 50:57Speaker 5: a look at AOC and before that.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Before we get to that, let's get to the Mills Mafia.
- 51:02Speaker 1: The Mills mafia.
- 51:03Speaker 4: The Mills Mafia was out and forced at the Nathan
- 51:07Speaker 4: Bernard drops like correspondent went to two different polling locations,
- 51:11Speaker 4: one in Augusta one in Waterville. Actually, he talked to
- 51:14Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty one voters and just for fun,
- 51:17Speaker 4: we did an exit poll and he nailed it. It
- 51:22Speaker 4: was it's kind of wild. We didn't call it scientific
- 51:26Speaker 4: because it's only two different polling locations, and you got
- 51:28Speaker 4: to do the whole state, you got to do a
- 51:30Speaker 4: bigger sample. But his numbers were within like the margin
- 51:34Speaker 4: of error of what of what the actual voters across
- 51:39Speaker 4: the state did. Here's one of his interviews with a
- 51:42Speaker 4: He talked with a decent number of Janet Mills voters.
- 51:45Speaker 4: But here's here's one of them. And I think we
- 51:47Speaker 4: forget that this is how a decent number of Americans
- 51:50Speaker 4: kind of approach voting. Let's roll see five Senate.
- 51:59Speaker 8: That was Platner and oh okay, thank you, I need that.
- 52:05Speaker 9: Mills and Flatiner, Platiner.
- 52:10Speaker 8: So you ranked Mills first, yes, okay, and then for governor,
- 52:14Speaker 8: do you remember go with the lists again, that was
- 52:18Speaker 8: Narav Shaw. You had Troy Jackson, you had Chili Pingree,
- 52:22Speaker 8: I mean Hannah Pingree, Shanna Bellows.
- 52:25Speaker 10: Hannah Shaw and Troy laughed.
- 52:32Speaker 4: So when people look at the twenty percent that Mills
- 52:35Speaker 4: took home some yeah, you know, people who hate Platner
- 52:41Speaker 4: are going to look at that and you're like to see,
- 52:42Speaker 4: she dropped out and she still got twenty percent. Right,
- 52:45Speaker 4: she's the sitting governor, and like just through inertia, you're
- 52:49Speaker 4: going to get some set of people voting. And the
- 52:53Speaker 4: reason he named them both is that Maine has ranked
- 52:55Speaker 4: choice voting, so he ranked Mills first and then Platner,
- 53:00Speaker 4: and the platter doesn't vote doesn't count because he got
- 53:03Speaker 4: more than well, actually, I guess it in the rank
- 53:06Speaker 4: choice voting that will count because she finished under fifty percent.
- 53:09Speaker 1: It sucks.
- 53:10Speaker 5: Sorry, we should have that debate sometimes.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Interesting. Yeah, anyway, so you were saying.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Yeah, let's take a look care at AOC. This is
- 53:18Speaker 1: C three.
- 53:19Speaker 5: Here's how she reacted amidst all of the controversies of
- 53:23Speaker 5: the last several days.
- 53:24Speaker 4: C three.
- 53:25Speaker 9: When it comes to the substance of this reporting.
- 53:28Speaker 11: Obviously, there's a lot in that behavior that's really challenging.
- 53:32Speaker 9: It's hard to stomach, you know, in some of it.
- 53:35Speaker 1: But but.
- 53:38Speaker 9: At the end of the day, I think that this
- 53:41Speaker 9: is a choice.
- 53:42Speaker 11: If the choice on the ballance between that and a
- 53:45Speaker 11: centator who's voted to take health care away from millions
- 53:48Speaker 11: of Americans, that's the situation that we have to weigh.
- 53:52Speaker 4: What say you, Ryan, Well, the body language there is interesting.
- 53:55Speaker 4: She's she's sort of like physically recoiling it. The like
- 53:59Speaker 4: thought of Platinner.
- 54:00Speaker 5: It seems like, yeah, that was an interview with CNN outside.
- 54:03Speaker 4: The capitol, and you know, so she has not endorsed
- 54:08Speaker 4: and in this in this race. Yeah, and so I
- 54:12Speaker 4: guess she can't endorse in the primary. Clearly, what she's
- 54:15Speaker 4: saying there is she didn't even come out and say
- 54:17Speaker 4: she would support Platner against Collins. She would, she implied,
- 54:20Speaker 4: She implied that she would, and she's like, I guess
- 54:22Speaker 4: this is what we what we have to do. It's
- 54:25Speaker 4: a little reminiscent of the fascinating interview that Crystal did
- 54:29Speaker 4: with Chris rab the DSA Justice Democrats backed democrat who's
- 54:35Speaker 4: going to represent Philadelphia. If people haven't watched that, they
- 54:38Speaker 4: should go watch it. We don't like our candidate interviews.
- 54:41Speaker 4: If you go to YouTube, in particular, interviews with candidates
- 54:44Speaker 4: will get like seventy percent less.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Yeah, because it feels localized than typical.
- 54:51Speaker 4: So the algorithm probably didn't show that one to you,
- 54:54Speaker 4: So go find It's a really interesting and a lot
- 54:58Speaker 4: of people were dunking all over Chris Rab for I Actually,
- 55:01Speaker 4: I think this is an important and needed conversation to have.
- 55:06Speaker 4: That's one reason I'm glad that Platner's in the race
- 55:09Speaker 4: because he's forcing this conversation and you can't I don't
- 55:13Speaker 4: think you can kind of force people can't force it
- 55:17Speaker 4: back in. But what you can do is have that
- 55:19Speaker 4: conversation and talk to me like, why are people so
- 55:23Speaker 4: passionately supportive of platinir it out and then get from
- 55:26Speaker 4: people like why do you hate him so much? Like
- 55:29Speaker 4: what is it like? Because for Rabbit it and for
- 55:33Speaker 4: I think a lot of others, it's it's just esthetics.
- 55:36Speaker 4: It's like that he looks like somebody they don't like.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I think that's correct.
- 55:40Speaker 4: I mean, that's why I want that conversation because I
- 55:42Speaker 4: feel like we can maybe break through.
- 55:44Speaker 5: It's a great conversation for you in particular to have
- 55:47Speaker 5: because we've been talking about this for.
- 55:48Speaker 4: A long time and it's a flip side of Back
- 55:51Speaker 4: in the early twenty tens, Yeah, in two thousands, when
- 55:56Speaker 4: the gay rights movement was gaining steam, what the barnment,
- 56:02Speaker 4: What people discovered is that you've got a gay uncle.
- 56:06Speaker 4: You're like you actually, once people started coming out of
- 56:08Speaker 4: the closet and Andrew argument, Yeah, once people started coming
- 56:11Speaker 4: out of the class like, oh oh that guy's gay.
- 56:13Speaker 4: I love the guy. He's great. And my life is
- 56:15Speaker 4: fine around him. This is the reverse for liberals. It's like,
- 56:21Speaker 4: this is a white guy and he's actually pretty nice.
- 56:25Speaker 5: A big Burley combat vet, big Burley combat vet, someone
- 56:28Speaker 5: you can see with rogan, and he's fine.
- 56:30Speaker 4: Don't be afraid, don't be scared. Like the the current
- 56:34Speaker 4: cultural divorce between kind of progressives and white men is
- 56:39Speaker 4: so like stark that it is. It's just culturally, morally,
- 56:47Speaker 4: ethically wrong, but also just pragmatically from a political perspective,
- 56:52Speaker 4: you can't build a national party. Yeah, if you assume
- 56:56Speaker 4: every white guy or every white guy with a deep
- 56:59Speaker 4: voice is a combat bet or whatever is like out
- 57:01Speaker 4: to get.
- 57:02Speaker 5: You, or if you talk about him in a way
- 57:04Speaker 5: that implies he does have sort of built in problems, So.
- 57:09Speaker 4: Just inherent toxicity or something.
- 57:12Speaker 5: Yeah, whether or whether you're talking about racism or sexism.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Yes, and if you believe that, you can point to
- 57:18Speaker 4: a lot of things he said in the past, like them. Yeah,
- 57:21Speaker 4: I can't deal with that Rocanna though.
- 57:23Speaker 1: That's what I was just gonna say.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Yeah, because it's interesting to do the contrast with AOC
- 57:27Speaker 5: and Rocana, actually, because there's also a theory here that
- 57:31Speaker 5: maybe there's rumblings in DNC type circles that more is
- 57:36Speaker 5: coming out on Platner, or that he's going to be
- 57:38Speaker 5: used as an albatrass and other raceist, which I honestly doubt.
- 57:40Speaker 5: I think that might be true with Tallerico. I don't
- 57:42Speaker 5: think it's true with Platiner. But it's saying, you know,
- 57:44Speaker 5: just be careful because you don't want to have to
- 57:47Speaker 5: answer for him everywhere you go. Oh, you endorse Platner
- 57:50Speaker 5: or you like Platner, Okay, so tell me why you
- 57:52Speaker 5: like sexual assault constantly following you around the campaign.
- 57:56Speaker 4: He hasn't been accused of that, right right, but you.
- 57:58Speaker 5: Know that's how it's people are taking it, of course,
- 58:02Speaker 5: and so that's the question that'll follow if you endorse.
- 58:06Speaker 5: Here's Rokanna leaning all the way in C four.
- 58:10Speaker 7: If the Democratic Party is going to exist, it needs
- 58:13Speaker 7: to become the anti war Party. I fucking love this place.
- 58:18Speaker 10: I don't know why you want to go to the set.
- 58:19Speaker 7: I think a lot of people in this country would
- 58:21Speaker 7: like to see more regular people in politics. And most
- 58:24Speaker 7: people in this country have gone through some form of
- 58:26Speaker 7: transformation throughout their lives. They've not been living perfect lives.
- 58:29Speaker 10: Aone what do you say to someone that says, oh, roll,
- 58:31Speaker 10: I agree with Graham's policies. I'm glad You're going there,
- 58:35Speaker 10: but you know, after the stuff coming out, I just
- 58:37Speaker 10: my granddaughter. What do you say to someone like that.
- 58:39Speaker 7: If you believe in transformational politics, you need to believe
- 58:44Speaker 7: in the ability for people to transform. And I came
- 58:47Speaker 7: out of the infantry at a time where like you.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Sucked it up, where you're getting help or no.
- 58:51Speaker 7: No, God no, which is why I was self medicated, right,
- 58:53Speaker 7: And this is the point in my life where I
- 58:54Speaker 7: didn't believe that PTSD was real.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Do you ever have flashbacks?
- 58:57Speaker 7: It really just manifested us like deep depression and anxiety.
- 59:01Speaker 7: Intense combat sort of changes your brain.
- 59:05Speaker 10: Do you now see where you are? Say, hey, I
- 59:07Speaker 10: could have been a better person. And in terms of
- 59:09Speaker 10: how I was.
- 59:10Speaker 7: I had frankly witnessed the most awful things a person
- 59:14Speaker 7: could witness and see, and it was all done in
- 59:17Speaker 7: the service of seemingly or nothing.
- 59:20Speaker 5: My gosh, just hearing the boats bump up against the
- 59:23Speaker 5: dock and the wall, it's just that.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Was very well done. Fitny. It took you right to
- 59:28Speaker 1: Sorrento Main where it was.
- 59:29Speaker 4: Filmed it did so, And I said earlier like that
- 59:32Speaker 4: there's a particular problem that democratic liberals kind of have
- 59:36Speaker 4: with white guys. It's and it is particular two white guys,
- 59:39Speaker 4: it's also all guys.
- 59:40Speaker 5: Like yes, yes, black and Hispanic men went for Trump
- 59:44Speaker 5: and they made it. He made real inrods with black
- 59:46Speaker 5: and Hispanic men for a reason.
- 59:47Speaker 4: And I also think people don't fully internalize. They hear
- 59:52Speaker 4: him say that he did four combat tours, they hear
- 59:56Speaker 4: him say that, I don't think they internalize what that means,
- 59:59Speaker 4: and in particular what it means to have been a
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: marine in Ramadi in Fallujah. You could just go google
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: like Ramadi Marines two thousand and five, two thousand and six.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: There's the movies about it, but there's also lots of
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: like real time footage that has been captured of and it.
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: Ramadi in particular, at the time, the time that he
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: was there, in the unit that he was with, is
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: understood to be it was the most violent place on earth,
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: and his unit saw extraordinary numbers of casualties and on
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: a daily basis, his job was a machine gunner, like
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: his job was to put out this suppressing fire as
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: the unit is moving through, moving house to house and
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: block to block. And now I also understand people on
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: the left who are like, you know what, anybody who
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: did that? I don't I don't want to hear from you.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: I think that's idealistic and kept doing it the marks
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: at sense. It's it misunderstands. For the nineteen seventeen Bolshevik revolution,
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: you're going to get that without disaffected soldiers. You be
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: like heyd you that did you banonet somebody like I
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: don't want I don't want you out in the streets
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: like that. It was soldiers, peasants and workers that led
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: the revolution, like disaffected soldiers are are are critical to
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: any kind of workers movement.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: You're really arguing now in lenin Is terms, except well,
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: because you're arguing with you're making too far people.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: Far left too. But whatever, there's not a lot of
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: them in me, and they're against him. It's more of
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: that's more of the national conversation.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: But is that a real conversation in like DSA world?
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Absolutely, And I get it.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I've seen some of it.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: I get it. Like it, like I think it's very
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: hard for people to put themselves in in his frame
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: of mind where he wanted to go to war.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: And he's basically rebuked most of what he did, right,
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: And that's a really critical difference.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Right. But so, as a machine gunner, you are going
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: house to house every single day. If you mess up,
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: your comrades die. If you don't mess up, you kill
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: a bunch of people. So now it's combat. But to
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: then later come to terms with the fact that you
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: were fighting for nothing means that you killed those people
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: for nothing. You killed those people to save your own
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: men's lives and women's lives, but they shouldn't have been
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: there in the first place. You realize, and he has realized,
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: so to witness that, to take part in it, to
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: come to terms with what you did and that it
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: all being for nothing is is that that is the
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: thing that produces so much depression, anxiety and terror in
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: com veterans. Yeah, this this understanding that what what you
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: what you did was for nothing, what your friends died for.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: And reckoning with it on these these scattershot reddit posts
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: for years. It's actually kind of an interesting window into
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: the mindset.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: And I think, and I think just that's why I say.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: People hear him say he did two combat tours. I
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: think it's imp well, two combat tours in Iraq and
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: then four total. Yeah, but it's very hard to internalize
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: what that does to your soul. And to have somebody
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: who's processing that and then to come back and have
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: an opportunity to go to the United States Senate to
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: fight against sending more people to do that, Yeah, it's
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: just extraordinarily powerful. He said in one of our first
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: interviews that his hero is Smedley Butler, who committed far
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: more atrocities than Oh. Yeah, then maybe anybody good lord
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: like Nicaragua, Duran's Haiti.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Like China, Philippine, I feel, on and.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: On across the world. And then wrote war as a
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: Racket in the nineteen thirties, which really birthed a real
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: piece in an anti war movement. But he was a general.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: To have a grunt come to the Senate and talk
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: about that, I think would be extremely powerful. Also, I
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: would love to see him interrogating like the top brass
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: in the military, fascinating like they do not want to
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: hear that from a grunt. No, that's going to but
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: that would be That would be amazing to see. So
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I just think it's such an important voice to have,
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: whether it's Republican, Democrat, independent, whatever like. To have that
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: experience and to bring it to bear at the national
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: level is something that this country really needs, I think,
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: to reckon with what we've done and what we continue
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: to do.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: Seventy voters agree with Ryan in the main Democratic primary,
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: so now it comes down to Susan Collins. Honestly, I
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: could talk about this for the whole show because it's
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: such an interesting and I know we're gonna keep talking
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: about it. We should probably tick through some of the
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: other the other wins rand of Jegas.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: Ryan, Yes, so we can put up C six Democrats
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: in the House are absolutely livid at the d Triple
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: C for spending a bunch of money and teaming up
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: with d MFI Democratic Majority for Israel in trying to
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: elect jazz Mee Baines, trying to get her under the
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: top two instead. Yeah, this is a Jewish insider. Their
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: headline is anti Israel. Democrat Viegas declares victory in California
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: House primaries is Randy Vegas. You remember from his interview
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: he did here a couple of weeks ago, So he'll
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: he'll go on to take on the Republican incumbent, which
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: makes us a very important race for kind of the
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: left sidea that you can have populist policies. This is
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: a he's a community college professor and owns a or
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: like runs a garage in Bakersfield. To have somebody like
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: him running on a Bernie platform up against the Republican like.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: The left's argument has been that you can win with that,
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: and if you win with that, you will then deliver
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: for people and then people will reward you. Democrats have
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: really not gotten to try that basically since the New Deal.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: So it's the other attempt to do that. Well, it's
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: slightly different. Attempt to take on an incumbent seems to
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: be going quite well. Justice Democrats and WFP backed may Vang,
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: who's also remember she was on the program a week
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: or two ago put up C seven Doris Mattsoue a
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: long time in comment, she and her husband have held
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: this seat for forty plus years. She spent a fortune
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: trying to boost that guy down at the bottom, Zach Woods.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: He's a Republican college kid, and I kept saying she
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: better be careful. I's not guaranteed she's going to be
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: the number one seed here in this tournament and may
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: Vang has now overtaken her, and so Doris Mattsoue is
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: she will make the top two. But she almost kind
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: of right after her way out into the number three position,
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: which would be that would have been the funniest thing.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: You spend all this money and you boost this guy Woods,
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: It would have been pretty bunny past yourself.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: It would have been pretty funny.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: She's cooked though, because Sacramento, like news media, has turned
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: against her. I don't see how the Republicans who voted
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: for Woods are going to then shift to Matt Suey,
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: because if you're a Republican there, Matt Suey's been your
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: representative for decades, I think you probably just even if
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: the person's throw to the lefty project like to get
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: rid of her, we'll see. That'll be an interesting one.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: So tell us about oh so, yeah, tell us about
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: styr has conceded he's not going to make the top two.
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: Just a reminder, Tom Steyer spent about two hundred million dollars.
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: He didn't even make the top two two hundred million
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: dollars after about three hundred million dollars trying to run
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: for president. His net worth is estimated at about two
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: point four billions, so fabulously wealthy man. He's not Jeff
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: Bezos rich. And he spent now half a billion dollars
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: of a two point four billion estimated net worth trying
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: to be an elected official. Never trust anybody who wants
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: to be an elected official to the tune of half.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: A billion dollars.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: That's insane behavior, as like joker style behavior.
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: So he could he could have run for house somewhere
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: or something.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: Yes, exactly, he's consun a house C nine. Yeah, that
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: would have been that would have been fine. But yes,
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: he did concede. It looks like Steve Hilton is going
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: to make the run off.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: The other thing that happened last night is Lindsey Graham
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: took about fifty eight percent of the vote. It's looking
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: like right now he's always he always has a primary
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: challenger one time, including from a Southern charm you may
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: remember that season, but it did not work out well
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: for Lindsay Grahm's primary opponents. This time around, he ended
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: up over fifty percent easily. So Nancy Mayce goes down
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: in the gubernatorial primary five fifth fifth. She finished lower
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: than Ralph Norman Trump candidates were the favorites in that race,
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: but Nancy Mays couldn't even get top three, little one,
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: top two, let alone a win finishes at five twelve
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: percent of the vote. Yet twelve percent of the vote,
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: so really a brutal result there for Nancy Mace, who
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: definitely felt like she had momentum and wind at her
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: back for a while, and you know, maybe the momentum stalled. Listen,
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: I don't think Nancy Mayce was going to win this election.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: I do think probably she lost some momentum when Trump
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: got upset over push people pushing further further.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: For more and more Epstein disclosure. And Mace was certainly.
- 1:09:37Speaker 11: A part of that.
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: Yeah, so the number of casualties from Epstein. Certainly very
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: few men who were actually implicated in the Epstein ring,
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: but so far Marjorie Taylor, Green, Thomas Massey, Nancy Mace
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: casualties of it. Interesting how that works out.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: I wanted to put
