- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to crave-worthy street food.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Freshly made with Reburger. Don't fight it. It's time to
- 0:11Speaker 1: go up a size. This is the biggest.
- 0:13Speaker 3: The biggest. The biggest.
- 0:14Speaker 1: This is the biggest. Our biggest show.
- 0:16Speaker 3: The Hodaki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Big Show.
- 0:21Speaker 3: G'day, you absolute weapons. It's the Hauraki Big Show. You're
- 0:24Speaker 3: here with Pugs and Old Mogi, but no matter who's
- 0:27Speaker 3: in this room, it's always brought to you by our
- 0:29Speaker 3: good mates at Reburger. So if you're having good times
- 0:32Speaker 3: and good food, dine in or take away Reburger today.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Oh, yummy.
- 0:36Speaker 3: How you going there, Pugs-san, man?
- 0:40Speaker 1: Hey. You good, man?
- 0:41Speaker 3: I'm good, man.
- 0:42Speaker 1: How are you? How long were you working on that
- 0:44Speaker 1: little intro there?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Well, I've actually used that one before, so I pulled
- 0:47Speaker 3: out a goodie.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Well, at least I thought. You pulled out
- 0:49Speaker 1: a goodie.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I pulled out a goodie.
- 0:51Speaker 1: A tried and true one. Yeah, man. How are you?
- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm good as gold. I'm happy as. Yeah? Yeah, Keezy
- 0:58Speaker 1: and Hoity J not here for a couple of weeks,
- 1:01Speaker 1: both away on their own holidays, which means we get
- 1:03Speaker 1: an opportunity to fill in.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, man. And we're still working on names.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We're going to keep those coming in, 3483, on what
- 1:11Speaker 3: you think the Mogi and Pugs duo should be. You
- 1:14Speaker 3: been up to much?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Great question, Pugs. Great question. Thinking about our name, pretty much.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's an opportunity for the people out there to have
- 1:22Speaker 1: some fun with us, probably. Tofu Boy is a popular
- 1:25Speaker 1: one for you.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I feel like it's popular for you.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean, it's coming through a lot. There
- 1:32Speaker 1: seems to be an infusion of jizz, no matter where
- 1:35Speaker 1: you turn.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Aye, there is a lot of jizz. You've had Dr. Durry,
- 1:38Speaker 3: but you didn't like that one.
- 1:39Speaker 1: No, it's the doctor part of it. I like the
- 1:42Speaker 1: Durry part of it. But if you've got an idea
- 1:44Speaker 1: around that, flick it through, 3483, and we will choose
- 1:47Speaker 1: somebody every single day to win a Reburger voucher, and
- 1:52Speaker 1: some of the best ones we'll keep it aside and
- 1:54Speaker 1: turn it into stings, and ultimately we'll come up with
- 1:56Speaker 1: a winner.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That's absolutely right. And we've got a hell of a
- 2:00Speaker 3: lot coming up on the show today. Should we run
- 2:01Speaker 3: through it?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Well, we're talking to G Lane, who's fresh off a boys'
- 2:12Speaker 1: trip to Sydney where he went to the races in
- 2:14Speaker 1: the Bucba League NRL Grand Final there. A shell of
- 2:18Speaker 1: a man, a shell of a human, I'm anticipating. He's
- 2:20Speaker 1: not a man to do things by halves. He got
- 2:24Speaker 1: back yesterday after about three hours sleep total across three days.
- 2:28Speaker 1: straight back into school holidays. A wife, and I think
- 2:31Speaker 1: he's running three kids.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And put it this way, he didn't want to hang
- 2:33Speaker 3: around to come and have a chat in studio.
- 2:35Speaker 1: No, that's right.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He wanted to get the hell out of here.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's a nightmare situation. Also, my wife and daughter have
- 2:40Speaker 1: gone away, so we're going to have a little bit
- 2:41Speaker 1: of a chat about what people do when their partners,
- 2:44Speaker 1: when their families go away. I've got a few things
- 2:47Speaker 1: that I always do when they're gone because I can't
- 2:50Speaker 1: be told not to do them. And coming up next, Parkside,
- 2:53Speaker 1: you're staying at Horty J's place.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I am for one more night. And the last time
- 2:59Speaker 3: I house sat for him, I left something behind and
- 3:01Speaker 3: he didn't find it. So I'm looking for a way
- 3:03Speaker 3: to kind of screw with him a little bit. Something
- 3:06Speaker 3: that's subtle, not like leaving a steamer in the shower
- 3:08Speaker 3: or anything. So if you have any ideas on how
- 3:10Speaker 3: to subtly mess with someone when they get back to
- 3:12Speaker 3: their house, 3483 is the text number. As always, re-burger
- 3:16Speaker 3: vouchers flying out the door. Plus we've got our $ 250
- 3:18Speaker 3: for Gigalittle on the way today as well.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Get it in ya. We kick off with a break, right?
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi,
- 3:35Speaker 3: Hori J and Keezy, away on holiday. And while Jase
- 3:39Speaker 3: is away, Mogi, I've been house-sitting for him.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You have, yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Since Sunday, and tonight is my last night. And one
- 3:46Speaker 3: thing that I never actually shared on radio is.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Can I just talk, before you get into that, can
- 3:50Speaker 1: you talk me through how it's a three-day house-sitting? What's
- 3:53Speaker 1: the guts there?
- 3:53Speaker 3: I'll be honest, I don't really remember the details there.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I think maybe his daughter or another family member could
- 4:01Speaker 3: only make it tomorrow. So they needed someone just for
- 4:05Speaker 3: a couple of days to pad it out. Feed the cat.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Feed the cat. And also they knew that I had
- 4:09Speaker 3: been house-sitting for his father-in-law for the last month.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 3: And so they wanted to maybe not have me do
- 4:14Speaker 3: a massive stint.
- 4:15Speaker 1: You're getting a real business going here, aren't you?
- 4:17Speaker 3: It's kind of a fun change of environment, I suppose.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And I'll be honest, I'm really enjoying staying at his place,
- 4:22Speaker 3: particularly because of the cat and because it's so central.
- 4:26Speaker 3: So my partner and I have been out and about.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The cat central?
- 4:27Speaker 3: The cat central, yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah, good.
- 4:30Speaker 3: But one thing I never shared on air, last time
- 4:32Speaker 3: I stayed there, I left something at his house, which
- 4:35Speaker 3: I won't say here in case he listens. for him
- 4:38Speaker 3: to find at a later date. And it's not something
- 4:41Speaker 3: that he would easily be able to discern was something
- 4:43Speaker 3: that I left.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:45Speaker 3: So now I'm looking for another way that maybe I
- 4:47Speaker 3: can screw with him just a little bit in a
- 4:51Speaker 3: way that's not necessarily harmful. Like I know, obviously, I
- 4:54Speaker 3: don't want to impact his partner too much because she
- 4:56Speaker 3: lives there too and their daughter. So nothing out the gate.
- 4:59Speaker 3: So I'm looking for suggestions on $ 348, $ 350 Reburger vouchers.
- 5:03Speaker 3: to give away. Have you ever done any sort of
- 5:06Speaker 3: like little.
- 5:07Speaker 1: What about sulfuric acid in the shampoo bottle?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I did consider the sulfuric acid. I just thought,
- 5:15Speaker 3: maybe not this time. You know what I mean?
- 5:17Speaker 1: You could ease your way into it. I mean, there's
- 5:19Speaker 1: sort of similar texts that have come through here, but
- 5:21Speaker 1: what occurred to me was.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You just want him to doubt himself. The ideal kind
- 5:31Speaker 1: of prank is you really want it to lead to
- 5:34Speaker 1: some kind of a psychotic break.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, just over time, breaking down more and more, he
- 5:38Speaker 3: gets titchy with his partner, and then slowly the marriage dissolves.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah, the thing that leaves to mind is the Roald
- 5:44Speaker 1: Dahl book, The Twit, where they're constantly playing pranks on
- 5:48Speaker 1: each other.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 1: One thing I think you could do is, and it'll
- 5:50Speaker 1: be difficult, but that's what makes it so good, is
- 5:53Speaker 1: you just add some length to the table and chairs
- 5:57Speaker 1: that he's got there, right? Yeah. Let's say you put
- 6:00Speaker 1: two inches of wood on all the legs and on
- 6:02Speaker 1: all the chairs. So he goes out and he's like,
- 6:05Speaker 1: oh my God, am I getting shorter?
- 6:06Speaker 3: I'm shrinking with age.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be great?
- 6:08Speaker 3: That would be great. I also thought about... You know,
- 6:12Speaker 3: maybe putting my face on a couple of the family photos.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Dilly came in before and suggested that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Just mine, like, beautifully photoshopped.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
- 6:20Speaker 3: And just match it perfectly and stick it under the
- 6:22Speaker 3: frame there.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's really good. A shirtless sort of... And just, like,
- 6:25Speaker 1: somebody looking and then goes closer. Because the thing is,
- 6:27Speaker 1: when they're your photos on the wall, you don't even
- 6:29Speaker 1: look at them anymore. No, you never do. They're wallpaper.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So it'll be visitors. They'll move them. They'll move them
- 6:34Speaker 1: into new houses. That's really good. There's another one that's
- 6:36Speaker 1: come through on here, 3483. A text which says... putting
- 6:42Speaker 1: up a smaller TV. So you replace the existing TV
- 6:46Speaker 1: with a TV that's like two or three inches smaller.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That would throw him off. That would absolutely, he would
- 6:54Speaker 1: be questioned. I'm sure the TV was bigger than that.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But you would never think that somebody would... No. It
- 6:59Speaker 1: would never occur to you.
- 7:00Speaker 3: No, not at all. And he's got one of those
- 7:01Speaker 3: frame ones that looks like a painting.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 7:04Speaker 3: So he would believe it even more.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Oh, it's very good.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Keep them coming on 3483. We'll probably come back to
- 7:09Speaker 3: this next and read out some suggestions. Or give us
- 7:12Speaker 3: a call on 0800 Hauraki if you've done anything like
- 7:14Speaker 3: this before and it's succeeded. And in the meantime, we'll
- 7:19Speaker 3: spin you some She-Hart on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 7:24Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:27Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:30Speaker 3: That's Nirvana on the Hauraki Big Show. You're here with
- 7:32Speaker 3: Pugs and Mogi and I'm house-sitting for Jason Hoyt while
- 7:37Speaker 3: he's on leave. And I'm looking for a way to
- 7:40Speaker 3: subtly prank him. The main criteria is... It's got to
- 7:44Speaker 3: be easy for me to do because this is my
- 7:45Speaker 3: last night in the house. It's got to be something
- 7:48Speaker 3: that isn't too hearty because I'm not trying to screw
- 7:53Speaker 3: over his wife as well.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Put it this way. We've had a lot of texts
- 7:56Speaker 1: here that are sort of saying, you know, take a
- 7:58Speaker 1: dump in– what do they call it? A top deck.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Take a dump in the system of his toilet.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You know– We're going for something a bit more psychological
- 8:06Speaker 1: than that. That's right.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Something that just eats away at him.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That's right. You want something that's going to make him
- 8:13Speaker 1: doubt himself, question himself, maybe to the point he doesn't
- 8:16Speaker 1: even bring it up, but it's just something there. And
- 8:18Speaker 1: at some point. You know, he has a full mental breakdown.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Because this is Jason Hoyt, right? He barely pays attention
- 8:25Speaker 3: to anything in his daily life. I have left something
- 8:28Speaker 3: in his house that does not belong there.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Which I'd like to know about off air, actually.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And he has not found it nor said anything. And
- 8:34Speaker 3: I told him I left something in his house. So
- 8:36Speaker 3: he hasn't even looked through it.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 8:37Speaker 3: He does not give a shit. So we're looking for
- 8:40Speaker 3: texts on 3483 or calls on 0800 Hauraki. Every one
- 8:43Speaker 3: of these in the drawer for 50 bucks worth of re-burger. So,
- 8:46Speaker 3: for example, one that we liked was swapping the fridge door.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Swapping the fridge doors over is absolutely brilliant because it's
- 8:55Speaker 1: just one of those things that you would just question immediately. Yes.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I'm sure it opened the other way.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Like it's always the other way.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Straight away you'd ask me, Mrs. Ed, didn't this open
- 9:03Speaker 1: the other way? And then just absolute doubt. And the
- 9:07Speaker 1: beauty of it is, is you've got 10 days of
- 9:10Speaker 1: this other person coming into the house and the house
- 9:12Speaker 1: sitting who probably doesn't know which way this door opens.
- 9:16Speaker 1: They're going to get the blame.
- 9:17Speaker 3: True, I didn't even think about that, is that somebody
- 9:19Speaker 3: else is going to be in the house.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's right.
- 9:21Speaker 3: So they will probably think it's normal, whatever we do,
- 9:24Speaker 3: and just leave it.
- 9:26Speaker 1: No, I think that's an absolute belter. Another one that's
- 9:29Speaker 1: on here as well is, there's a couple that are
- 9:32Speaker 1: sort of along similar lines. Sign into Jase's streaming services
- 9:35Speaker 1: as your own. So I think you just do one.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Change the names so they mimic his existing profile names.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And then also change the profile pictures so that everything
- 9:45Speaker 1: looks the same. But then you put password locks on it.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Like a child lock. Like a child lock. What that...
- 9:52Speaker 1: Can you imagine the effing and jeffing that would go on?
- 9:55Speaker 3: We wouldn't even hear about it until what's on the
- 9:57Speaker 3: tv when he gets back from holiday because he's as
- 9:59Speaker 3: apple one's already.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Oh my god and and there's another one here that's
- 10:03Speaker 1: similar that says sign him out of his disabled hoity
- 10:06Speaker 1: samsung samsung account that'll have him busy and the fact
- 10:11Speaker 1: that it would have him busy is 100% correct.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it's mornings before he gets in here, eh?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Do you know, another thing that has just occurred to
- 10:18Speaker 1: me is, you know, he's got quite a fractious relationship
- 10:21Speaker 1: with his neighbours.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yes, it's tense because it's sort of like everybody kind
- 10:25Speaker 3: of keeps to themselves and everybody's a little bit weird.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And they're quite, you know, look, they've got a bit
- 10:30Speaker 1: of money there. They seem to be older. There's an
- 10:33Speaker 1: issue with noise. There's all of these sorts of things.
- 10:35Speaker 1: When you live in an apartment building, there's all of
- 10:37Speaker 1: these people you have to deal with and normally you don't.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I would, what about you write a letter... Apparently from
- 10:45Speaker 1: one of the neighbours and you're not happy about something
- 10:49Speaker 1: that's been taking place. Let's say, for example... You've got
- 10:53Speaker 1: people house sitting there. I'm not happy with the sound
- 10:56Speaker 1: of love, mate. You know, something along those lines.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Oh, that's so good.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And then he has to unpack that. Now, immediately he's
- 11:04Speaker 1: coming in to attack you with it.
- 11:06Speaker 3: 100%.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And that makes one of the greatest clips for social
- 11:09Speaker 1: we've ever done.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I actually love that so much. That's come from you.
- 11:14Speaker 3: That's not a text, eh?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 3: That is brilliant. I will think about that. Some other
- 11:17Speaker 3: ones that people said, plant. Like potatoes so that they
- 11:21Speaker 3: start sprouting in random places around the house.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But that's kind of like the prawn thing, you know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: putting prawns in there. It becomes immediately apparent, although maybe
- 11:30Speaker 1: not to Jase.
- 11:31Speaker 3: A real one that somebody sent through that happened to them.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Some friends left an erotic magazine under the main bed
- 11:36Speaker 3: when they visited. And then it wasn't until three months
- 11:38Speaker 3: later that they found the magazine and it caused problems
- 11:40Speaker 3: in the relationship.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 3: That's quite good as well.
- 11:42Speaker 1: That's not bad.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Keep them coming on 3483. We may revisit this because.
- 11:47Speaker 1: They are just flying in. We have got thousands of
- 11:49Speaker 1: texts about this. We normally get eight a show and
- 11:52Speaker 1: they are flying in. People really want to mess with
- 11:55Speaker 1: Woody J.
- 11:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 12:01Speaker 3: It's Living Colour on the Hauraki Big Show. You're here
- 12:04Speaker 3: with Pugs and Mogi.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I've got an interesting thing that's come across my desk, Pugsan,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and this is around, I don't know if you've heard
- 12:14Speaker 1: of elections, man, but it's when we vote. Now, generally, obviously,
- 12:18Speaker 1: we don't talk about politics on the show, but this
- 12:20Speaker 1: is kind of apolitical, and that means it's straight. It's
- 12:22Speaker 1: like asexual.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Right, thank you for that.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Just so now you can understand it. And so I've
- 12:29Speaker 1: had this thing come to me, and it's called honoroll.nz.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And the idea is that all the young people out
- 12:35Speaker 1: there that sit on the bones of their ass, that
- 12:38Speaker 1: don't engage with the community and the political system, they
- 12:42Speaker 1: can jump on the enroll. It takes less than two minutes.
- 12:45Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It is pretty good. And apparently there's 170,000 in this
- 12:47Speaker 1: age group of 18 to 24 who are not enrolled. Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And that's a massive voting block where you can get
- 12:57Speaker 1: whatever you want. So if you come together as a
- 13:00Speaker 1: voting block like that, you can just be like compulsory vaping. Oh. Compulsory,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you know, leather shoes with tassels on them, that sort
- 13:11Speaker 1: of shit that you're into and all the youth's into.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And so you can go to honoroll.nz, and I encourage
- 13:18Speaker 1: you to do this. I don't care who you vote for.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Get out there. You can make, and this is just
- 13:24Speaker 1: an example, you can make Winston Peters your bitch. Right. Okay,
- 13:28Speaker 1: by voting for somebody else and getting rid of him.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Or David Seymour or Chloe Swarbrick. Whoever you want. Yes.
- 13:34Speaker 1: You can ruin their lives. And that's a great opportunity.
- 13:37Speaker 1: You could also do it with a more positive attitude
- 13:40Speaker 1: if you wanted to. But my sort of vibe is
- 13:43Speaker 1: that this is great, but I don't think it goes
- 13:45Speaker 1: far enough. So I'm going to start something where, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: you encourage your mates to vote. Let's say, Pugsan, well,
- 13:53Speaker 1: have you enrolled to vote?
- 13:54Speaker 3: Me, personally?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yes, you have.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I haven't yet.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And that's the truth, isn't it? You haven't enrolled.
- 13:59Speaker 3: That is 100% the truth. I 100% am going to.
- 14:02Speaker 3: It is really important to me.
- 14:03Speaker 1: What's stopping you, man?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Being lazy.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. Being lazy. Probably being lazy. Putting it off,
- 14:10Speaker 1: if you will. I think people need a motivation, because
- 14:11Speaker 1: otherwise you're going to put it off. Because it used
- 14:13Speaker 1: to be you could vote. I used to enrol, and
- 14:15Speaker 1: I've only been enrolled a couple of weeks, I used
- 14:16Speaker 1: to enrol on the day and vote on the day.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Because it means I can do it all at once.
- 14:20Speaker 1: But they don't let you do that anymore. You can
- 14:21Speaker 1: only enrol up until a couple of weeks before or something,
- 14:24Speaker 1: for some reason. So I think we need to inspire people.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So you jump in your chat with your mates, like
- 14:30Speaker 1: you've got a group chat, any kind of group chat
- 14:31Speaker 1: with your mates, and you ask, who's enrolled? And whoever
- 14:36Speaker 1: hasn't enrolled, you ostracise them. You kick them out of
- 14:40Speaker 1: the group chat and then you just talk shit about them.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Right, and then eventually, even if they do get enrolled
- 14:45Speaker 3: and then they get let back into the group.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Chat, it's just a whole bunch of shit talking about them. Yeah, well,
- 14:49Speaker 1: they can't see. That's the beauty of it. Right. But
- 14:51Speaker 1: you start spreading rumours about them.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Just character assassination.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Absolutely. Laying complaints about them at their workplace. Oh. You know,
- 14:59Speaker 1: that sort of stuff.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah, ruin their life sort of thing.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Well, no, no. Look, all they have to do is
- 15:03Speaker 1: enroll to vote. It's an easy thing.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Isn't it? To fix it. If there's a problem, if
- 15:06Speaker 1: you don't like this, if you don't like me shit-talking
- 15:09Speaker 1: you in the group chat, enroll to vote. That's fair.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying?
- 15:13Speaker 3: That's totally fair.
- 15:13Speaker 1: If you don't like me ringing up the boss and
- 15:15Speaker 1: saying that you've got a problem with alcohol, enroll to vote.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Right, and so where are people doing that?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well, you can do it anywhere. If you're a young bugger,
- 15:23Speaker 1: you can jump on oneroll.nz or just generally any backbone
- 15:27Speaker 1: out there that hasn't enrolled, just jump on to vote.nz.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'm going to be banging on about this for the
- 15:33Speaker 1: next two weeks.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Absolutely banging on. And so I want to know who
- 15:38Speaker 1: is enrolled and who's not. 3483, let us know because
- 15:42Speaker 1: I don't care who you vote for. Just vote, for
- 15:45Speaker 1: God's sake. It's a piece of piss. Get involved at
- 15:47Speaker 1: honoroll.nz or vote.nz. Takes two minutes.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So if I do that now, while Bush Glissaron is playing.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm telling you, the next break is me and Dilly
- 15:58Speaker 1: shit-talking you live on air. So you've got two minutes
- 16:01Speaker 1: now to enroll. I'm going to do it. We're going
- 16:03Speaker 1: to do this live right now.
- 16:05Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 16:09Speaker 3: You're going to love a bit of Bush. That's Glissaron
- 16:11Speaker 3: on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi. And
- 16:14Speaker 3: if you're just joining us, in the break before, we
- 16:17Speaker 3: were encouraging people to get around voting, weren't we, Mogi?
- 16:19Speaker 1: Well, yeah, essentially, especially enrolling to vote, because there's about
- 16:23Speaker 1: 170,000 18 to 24-year-olds that aren't even enrolled. Massive voting
- 16:28Speaker 1: bloc could really make a huge difference. So you can
- 16:31Speaker 1: head along to honoroll.nz or vote.nz for just general... People
- 16:36Speaker 1: like you pokes on. It's just come out that you
- 16:38Speaker 1: weren't even enrolled to vote. So my idea is if
- 16:42Speaker 1: your mates aren't enrolled to vote, you ostracise them or
- 16:44Speaker 1: you put pressure on them you know, a shaming, some
- 16:48Speaker 1: kind of shaming that you burn their house down, something
- 16:50Speaker 1: like that, just to encourage them to enroll to vote
- 16:53Speaker 1: and then vote. So I said to you, Pugs, have
- 16:57Speaker 1: you enrolled to vote? You haven't.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I had not.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Which is amazing. It was great for us. And I said, well,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you've got the duration of glycerine. to enrol, otherwise Dilly
- 17:08Speaker 1: and I are going to humiliate you live on air.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Yes, and I wasn't really prepared to deal with that.
- 17:14Speaker 3: So I went to vote.nz and I checked my details.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Turns out I was enrolled, even though I'd taken no
- 17:19Speaker 3: action really recently in this period.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And that's part of it. You can just check your details.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I just checked my details.
- 17:25Speaker 3: It was that easy. So you can do that now,
- 17:27Speaker 3: vote.nz or onaroll.nz. In the meantime, should we have some
- 17:31Speaker 3: TV chat?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yes, please. What's on the telly? with mike minogue um
- 18:00Speaker 1: that's the only change i'd make to the show It's
- 18:02Speaker 1: that and maybe a little bit of other singing. I
- 18:04Speaker 1: like that. On Netflix, I've been watching, amongst other things,
- 18:07Speaker 1: The Widower.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Not familiar.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Till death do us part. Now, this is a documentary.
- 18:15Speaker 1: It doesn't really say what it's about, but here's the quote.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I've never met anybody who had six wives and four
- 18:20Speaker 1: of them are dead. So this guy, there's a little
- 18:24Speaker 1: bit of a suspicion around him because he's been married
- 18:27Speaker 1: six times, taken life insurance out on all of his wife,
- 18:31Speaker 1: all of his wives, and then four of them died
- 18:32Speaker 1: under suspicious circumstances.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Nobody wanted to catch on after two or anything?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Well, yeah, they sort of worked it out, and then
- 18:41Speaker 1: for various reasons. Anyway, we don't know if he did
- 18:44Speaker 1: it or not. Oh, okay. But I've certainly got a suspicion.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm really enjoying it because it's one 90-minute episode instead
- 18:52Speaker 1: of four two-hour episodes, which could have been squeezed into
- 18:55Speaker 1: half an hour. It's on Netflix. I'll give it three
- 18:57Speaker 1: and a half buzzies at the moment. I've got about
- 18:59Speaker 1: half an hour to go. um yeah he's a real
- 19:02Speaker 1: he's a really unlikable fella who's playing him no this
- 19:07Speaker 1: is a documentary oh my yeah and the documentary they've
- 19:11Speaker 1: also got um there's a show over in america called
- 19:14Speaker 1: dateline so it's like a current affairs thing and then
- 19:17Speaker 1: a crime will happen and then they try and embed
- 19:19Speaker 1: themselves with the investigating homicide detectives as it's happening So
- 19:25Speaker 1: the journalists are there as the investigation unfolds over a
- 19:28Speaker 1: period of, in this case, about 15 or 20 years. Oh,
- 19:31Speaker 1: my God. So, yeah, so it's a really, I mean,
- 19:33Speaker 1: it's a weird way to run an investigation, but that's
- 19:36Speaker 1: America for you.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Fantastic, and that's on Netflix.
- 19:38Speaker 2: It is.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Absolutely. Now, I'm continuing with East of Eden, which we
- 19:42Speaker 3: spoke about yesterday pretty much at length, so I won't
- 19:44Speaker 3: get too far into it, but I'm up to the
- 19:47Speaker 3: third episode, and as I said to you off-air, it
- 19:49Speaker 3: was super... good, I literally thought it was the end
- 19:51Speaker 3: of the show.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And it was three episodes. And I was like, hang on,
- 19:54Speaker 3: am I like five in and this is the end
- 19:55Speaker 3: of it? Because I, to put it simply, I was
- 19:58Speaker 3: in tears. It is so high impact. There's no fluff.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Everything has so much meaning and every shot is unbelievable.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I've never seen anyone zoom out like that or take
- 20:09Speaker 3: a shot from so far away and the Aotearoa landscape
- 20:11Speaker 3: is just unbelievable. So that's East of Eden on Netflix.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Get around it. At the moment I'm giving it.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I'm giving it 4.9 buzzies.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Absolutely. Out of a possible five. It's a masterpiece.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Now, coming up after five, your wife and daughter are away, Muggy.
- 20:24Speaker 1: They are.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So we're going to be chatting what you do when
- 20:28Speaker 3: your family's away and you're home alone. Yeah. I imagine
- 20:30Speaker 3: that won't invite any filth. 3483 is the text number,
- 20:33Speaker 3: and we'll get into that.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Plus, gig a little.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Your chance to win $ 250 cash to go to a
- 20:38Speaker 3: gig of your choice. It's the Hauraki Big Show.
- 20:43Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 20:46Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. It is the Hauraki Big
- 20:51Speaker 3: Show with Pugs and Mogi. Keezy and Jase are away
- 20:55Speaker 3: on holiday. But nonetheless, it's brought to you by ReBurger.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 21:01Speaker 3: away ReBurger today. The name's burger. Dish, dish, dish.
- 21:05Speaker 4: ReBurger.
- 21:09Speaker 1: One of the greats, that one. That one and the
- 21:10Speaker 1: Jaws one.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah, those are the most recent ones. So
- 21:14Speaker 3: that means a lot. And if you are just joining us,
- 21:18Speaker 3: we were talking about enrolling to vote, and you can
- 21:20Speaker 3: see how easy it was for me right now on
- 21:22Speaker 3: the Hauraki Big Show Instagram story.
- 21:25Speaker 1: That's right. I literally, I mean, I'd like to say
- 21:28Speaker 1: encourage you. You were saying off-air bullied. But whatever it takes,
- 21:31Speaker 1: whatever it takes to get people enrolled to vote, if
- 21:33Speaker 1: you haven't done it, get into it. Mad not to,
- 21:36Speaker 1: I just had a text from Bogsy, the CEO of NZME. Really?
- 21:40Speaker 1: He said he was listening. He said he's just enrolled
- 21:42Speaker 1: to vote. He's never voted before in his life, and
- 21:44Speaker 1: we've inspired him. So well done, Bugs. You're doing great
- 21:47Speaker 1: work out here, brother.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Thank you, Mogi. I really appreciate that. Now, coming up
- 21:50Speaker 3: this hour, I've heard the cue to call for gig
- 21:52Speaker 3: a little is going to go off, so you can
- 21:55Speaker 3: win yourself $ 250 to go to any gig of your choosing.
- 21:59Speaker 1: That's right. And next up, we're going to be talking
- 22:02Speaker 1: about the fact that my wife and daughter have gone away.
- 22:03Speaker 1: They've gone on holiday, and so while they're away, I've
- 22:06Speaker 1: got a tradition of things that I do when they're
- 22:09Speaker 1: not there. things that I feel like I can get
- 22:11Speaker 1: done around the house. So I'd really like to know
- 22:15Speaker 1: what other people are doing when their families go away. 3483,
- 22:18Speaker 1: flick us a text or call us on 0800 Hauraki.
- 22:20Speaker 1: There are Reburger vouchers up for grabs.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Absolutely. And we're going to catch up with G Lane
- 22:25Speaker 3: a little bit later on. He's feeling a bit sore
- 22:28Speaker 3: after the grand final, the massive trip we did with
- 22:30Speaker 3: Boys Trip.
- 22:34Speaker 1: What about the fillies, man?
- 22:37Speaker 3: It's the Hauraki Big Show.
- 22:39Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:42Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 22:45Speaker 3: It's back on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and
- 22:48Speaker 3: Mogi who's living the bachelor life at the moment, aren't
- 22:51Speaker 3: you Mogi?
- 22:51Speaker 1: I am mate. The wife and the daughter have gone
- 22:54Speaker 1: away for a week and left me on my lonesome.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It happens a couple of times a year and sure
- 23:01Speaker 1: I could get all sad about it and sort of
- 23:02Speaker 1: start drinking and smoking darts and sort of lose my
- 23:06Speaker 1: memory for a week but There's other things to do.
- 23:08Speaker 1: And one of those things is, well, there's a couple
- 23:10Speaker 1: of things that I love to do. Number one is,
- 23:13Speaker 1: and you've got to do the things that you can't
- 23:15Speaker 1: do when the family's around. Everybody's home. That's right, because
- 23:18Speaker 1: everyone's got a say. Everyone wants some input on these things.
- 23:21Speaker 1: So best that they not be there and you can
- 23:24Speaker 1: plough ahead doing whatever you want and pay the consequences
- 23:26Speaker 1: when they get home. Number one is I clean my
- 23:28Speaker 1: daughter's bedroom. Right. So she's seven years old. I go
- 23:32Speaker 1: in there and I just... I just bin everything. Not everything,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but certainly I will make a judgment call on every
- 23:40Speaker 1: single thing in that room because for the last four
- 23:44Speaker 1: or five months, I will go into that room and
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm just going, man, I'm telling you, if you don't
- 23:49Speaker 1: tidy this room, I'm chucking it in the bin. It
- 23:52Speaker 1: drives me nuts, man. It's just the amount of crap
- 23:57Speaker 1: people have got. And she's my person. Yes. So I
- 23:59Speaker 1: can't blame her.
- 24:00Speaker 2: No.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And I can't, well, I can blame some people.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Who's the other person involved?
- 24:07Speaker 1: No, no, no. I'm kidding. No, no, no. Not specifically
- 24:10Speaker 1: my wife.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And so I just go through. And what I do
- 24:14Speaker 1: is I do it in stages. So I know there's
- 24:16Speaker 1: things in there that she won't even notice they're gone.
- 24:19Speaker 1: So I pack all that stuff. That goes. That goes
- 24:22Speaker 1: now to the Sally's or to charity. That's gone. Then
- 24:25Speaker 1: there's other stuff where I'm not sure about it and
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm scared. I'm scared. Can I give this away? Is
- 24:31Speaker 1: there going to be a kickback? So I take all
- 24:32Speaker 1: that stuff, I put it in bags, like 1,000 bags,
- 24:36Speaker 1: and I put that in the storage down under our house.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Now, if over the next month, if she says, where's
- 24:41Speaker 1: my ABC, whatever it is, then I can get it out.
- 24:45Speaker 1: But if nothing is said, after a month, all of
- 24:47Speaker 1: that stuff's gone as well.
- 24:49Speaker 3: And how often, when you do get the chance to
- 24:51Speaker 3: do this, how often has something been brought up that
- 24:54Speaker 3: you've had to go and get?
- 24:57Speaker 1: Probably twice. Yeah. Not often at all. Yeah. And the
- 25:01Speaker 1: funny thing is my daughter is always happy when I
- 25:03Speaker 1: do it. Never wants me to do it, but when
- 25:05Speaker 1: I've done it is always stoked.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Right.
- 25:08Speaker 1: So that is one of the things I do. The
- 25:10Speaker 1: other thing that I do, this time I'm doing, is
- 25:12Speaker 1: I'm clearing out all of the kitchen cupboards.
- 25:15Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm cleaning out all of the kitchen cupboards, the pantry, everything.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm clearing it out. If it's an open packet of pasta,
- 25:23Speaker 1: it's going in the bin.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yep.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'm rearranging the cans. I'm putting the plate. How do
- 25:30Speaker 1: you end up with 19 different types of coffee cup?
- 25:35Speaker 1: They're going in the bin. I love coffee cups. As
- 25:37Speaker 1: do I, but you just don't need them for a
- 25:39Speaker 1: family of three. So rearranging all of those, I'm getting
- 25:43Speaker 1: little containers that you can put all your pastas in,
- 25:45Speaker 1: another container for all the teas because everything ends up
- 25:49Speaker 1: migrating across all of the other cupboards.
- 25:51Speaker 3: It's always that shit that's like corn flour that you
- 25:54Speaker 3: get for one dish and then you never use it
- 25:56Speaker 3: again and then you forget and then you buy it
- 25:58Speaker 3: again the next time.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You've got two packets. We've got a whole bunch of
- 26:01Speaker 1: jars that we store all that stuff in. And I
- 26:04Speaker 1: know that stuff's been in there for upwards of nine years. Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But I don't care as long as it's tidy. So
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm just going through, tidying the whole thing up so
- 26:13Speaker 1: when they get home, this is how it's going to
- 26:16Speaker 1: stay for the next three hours.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Right, and so you only get the chance to do
- 26:20Speaker 3: that when you're home alone, wife and child are away,
- 26:23Speaker 3: and so you want other people to let you know
- 26:25Speaker 3: what kind of stuff they're getting up to when the
- 26:27Speaker 3: family's away?
- 26:27Speaker 1: We've spoken to Kate out in the office here. She
- 26:29Speaker 1: does exactly the same thing. One of the women I
- 26:31Speaker 1: work with, her husband, does what I do every single time.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And so it's a funny thing. It's a funny thing
- 26:40Speaker 1: to be doing in the absence of your family, but
- 26:42Speaker 1: I think there'll be dozens of thousands of people out
- 26:45Speaker 1: there who do something similar.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Well, give him some inspo for while the family's away
- 26:50Speaker 3: and what else he can actually get up to productively
- 26:52Speaker 3: on 3483. We'll read some of these next. It's so
- 26:57Speaker 3: interesting hearing that from you because when my partner's away,
- 27:00Speaker 3: I do absolutely earful.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Like I'll sit on the couch and I'll fart and
- 27:03Speaker 3: I'll play PlayStation.
- 27:05Speaker 1: What will you do?
- 27:06Speaker 3: I'll fart and I'll play PlayStation. And here's Linkin Park.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Fart boy emoji.
- 27:12Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 27:18Speaker 3: It's Jane's Addiction on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs
- 27:21Speaker 3: and Mogi. And it's the final week of your chance
- 27:24Speaker 3: to win $ 2, 500 worth of Trade Tester products. Check out tradetester.co.nz.

- 27:41Speaker 3: make sure you have your phone on this Friday, Arvo,
- 27:43Speaker 3: as well. Make your debt great with Trade Tested.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so we were just talking about the fact that
- 27:48Speaker 1: my wife and daughter have gone away, and when they
- 27:50Speaker 1: go away, I use it as an opportunity to rearrange
- 27:54Speaker 1: the house in a style, in a fashion that suits me.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So I clean my daughter's bedroom, I throw things out,
- 28:02Speaker 1: I rearrange all the cupboards in the kitchen. As much
- 28:05Speaker 1: as I can possibly get done in that time, that's
- 28:07Speaker 1: what I do. So that's what I'm doing with my
- 28:08Speaker 1: evenings at the moment.
- 28:09Speaker 3: That's a great productive way to spend your time. I
- 28:11Speaker 3: did have the burning question, how long does it take
- 28:14Speaker 3: before things kind of go back? And you have to
- 28:17Speaker 3: do it again the next time it rolls around?
- 28:18Speaker 1: Well, you have to do it the next time regardless. Right, okay.
- 28:21Speaker 1: No matter what.
- 28:21Speaker 3: So it's an ongoing thing.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But, you know, look, there's an argument that what I'm
- 28:25Speaker 1: doing is selfish because I'm not taking into account the
- 28:28Speaker 1: preferences and the wishes. Of the other two people I
- 28:31Speaker 1: live with.
- 28:32Speaker 3: I would disagree. You are taking it into account, and
- 28:34Speaker 3: that's why you're doing it while they're away.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I'm taking it into account, and I'm ignoring it, and
- 28:37Speaker 1: I'm doing what I want regardless. Exactly. So if I
- 28:39Speaker 1: get to enjoy the state of the house for a
- 28:41Speaker 1: few weeks, hours, I think it's worth it. And I
- 28:46Speaker 1: think they'll be happy initially.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Absolutely, they will. I mean, and as you said in
- 28:50Speaker 3: the last break, your daughter actually loves it. She does.
- 28:53Speaker 3: You know, she's not happy at first, but then she
- 28:55Speaker 3: really gets around the fact that there's more room for
- 28:57Speaker 3: more stuff.
- 28:58Speaker 1: That's right. Right. To fill it up again. We've had
- 29:01Speaker 1: a whole bunch of texts come in. This guy, I
- 29:03Speaker 1: don't think he's quite nailed it, but he is fuming.
- 29:06Speaker 1: When we go away with the kids, we mainly fight.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Then we'll get some brunch, followed by another domestic. Afternoon tea, domestic. Dinner, domestic. Bed. Bed.
- 29:17Speaker 1: This continues for however many days we're away.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Doesn't quite fit the brief, but we appreciate it nonetheless.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you're having a good time, man.
- 29:25Speaker 3: In the draw for the $ 50 e-burger voucher, regardless, somebody said,
- 29:30Speaker 3: my hubby went away the other week and I stripped
- 29:31Speaker 3: the kids' room, repainted and totally redesigned it. He would
- 29:34Speaker 3: have taken years to get it done, so I cracked
- 29:35Speaker 3: into it ASAP. I fear that I would be the
- 29:38Speaker 3: hubby in that scenario and leave it late.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, look, it's different people. We've got Kate in the office.
- 29:43Speaker 1: She does the same thing when her husband's away. So
- 29:45Speaker 1: this isn't by any means a gender-based activity. Yes. I think.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Anytime that you've got a little bit of free time,
- 29:54Speaker 1: this is the stuff that you end up doing because
- 29:56Speaker 1: otherwise you're just preoccupied with the general day-to-day tasks that
- 30:00Speaker 1: fill up your life.
- 30:02Speaker 3: There's a shocking amount of people on 3483 whose task
- 30:06Speaker 3: that they choose to do when their family's away is
- 30:09Speaker 3: something that they would usually do privately in their bedroom.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah, pants around the ankles stuff.
- 30:13Speaker 3: They choose to do that in the lounge. There's maybe
- 30:15Speaker 3: half of the techs are relating to lounge activities.
- 30:18Speaker 1: And I think that's probably age-related. I can see a
- 30:21Speaker 1: couple of fellas here, 28, 25. You know, I'm staring
- 30:25Speaker 1: down the barrel of 50. Well, Dilly's eyes lit up.
- 30:28Speaker 3: So that tells you everything you need to know. And mine.
- 30:30Speaker 3: And mine too. What else is there? I prefer to
- 30:35Speaker 3: do the OCD clean while the family are home so
- 30:37Speaker 3: they can hear me tut and sigh passive aggressively about
- 30:39Speaker 3: the filth and laziness of some of the other people
- 30:42Speaker 3: in this house.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, look, I do that as well. But that is
- 30:47Speaker 1: a treacherous path. Because sometimes I'll inadvertently go, oh, for
- 30:50Speaker 1: F's sake.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Under my breath, oh, for F's sake. And my wife
- 30:55Speaker 1: will hear that. It's like a dog. You can hear
- 30:58Speaker 1: that from kilometres away. No matter where you are in
- 31:00Speaker 1: the house. Sorry, what was that?
- 31:02Speaker 5: Oh, no, nothing.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Oh, I thought I heard you. Nah, nah. Nah, nah.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Just listening to something come.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Yes. So it's probably best for your relationship that you
- 31:11Speaker 3: do wait.
- 31:12Speaker 1: 100%. 100%. And look, apparently there's things about me that
- 31:17Speaker 1: annoy her. You're joking. You're joking.
- 31:23Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 31:26Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 31:28Speaker 3: News on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Hori J and Keezy off on holiday at the moment,
- 31:37Speaker 3: but it was a big weekend, wasn't it, Mogi, with
- 31:39Speaker 3: the NRL Grand Final?
- 31:40Speaker 1: It was. It was an absolutely humongous weekend for the
- 31:43Speaker 1: NRL Grand Final. And not only that, it was a
- 31:46Speaker 1: humongous weekend for Manaia and Jerry on breakfast, as well
- 31:50Speaker 1: as G Lane, who went over to Sydney with Boys Trip,
- 31:55Speaker 1: the great Boys Trip. It always feels good when you're
- 31:58Speaker 1: sort of hanging around on the Thursday and Friday, you're
- 32:00Speaker 1: getting out to the airport, the old Mike Lane is
- 32:04Speaker 1: with us now, and he'll be able to tell you
- 32:05Speaker 1: of the highs and lows of these trips. Brother, you
- 32:08Speaker 1: got back yesterday, a huge trip. How are you feeling
- 32:10Speaker 1: today about yourself?
- 32:12Speaker 5: Oh, look, someone asked me how the mind, body and
- 32:15Speaker 5: soul was. The body is here, the soul is just
- 32:19Speaker 5: holding on. The mind is not great. They took everything.
- 32:23Speaker 5: I left everything on the park, Minogi. I left everything
- 32:25Speaker 5: on the park, left it all out there in Sydney,
- 32:28Speaker 5: and I got nothing to give.
- 32:30Speaker 1: It is a monster, isn't it? Because you get excited.
- 32:32Speaker 1: You forget your age, all of the history, all of
- 32:35Speaker 1: your experience, the days after. They don't exist when you're
- 32:40Speaker 1: on the verge of greatness. When you're sitting in that
- 32:42Speaker 1: airport bar, beers are flowing in the AM. The dreams
- 32:47Speaker 1: are big. Talk me through that. Talk me through day one.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Well, look, I mean, first night fever, I've just come
- 32:55Speaker 5: to live with the fact that I'm always going to
- 32:57Speaker 5: suffer first night fever.
- 32:59Speaker 3: 100%.
- 33:00Speaker 5: There's no point in talking about it and going, oh, yeah,
- 33:01Speaker 5: I need to pump the brakes on night one. Everyone's excited.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Everyone's pumped. So you just lean into that first night fever. Obviously,
- 33:08Speaker 5: when you get to an airport, there are no rules.
- 33:10Speaker 5: There is no time zone. It's like going out in
- 33:12Speaker 5: a boat. You can crack a beer at 7 a.m.,
- 33:15Speaker 5: no judgment. So that's how it began. And that's pretty
- 33:20Speaker 5: much how it ended as well. But we had a
- 33:23Speaker 5: hell of a weekend, as you mentioned. But we went
- 33:25Speaker 5: to the Randwick races on Saturday as well. So we
- 33:28Speaker 5: had all day. And Boystrip guys, Dave and Boystrip, had
- 33:32Speaker 5: organized their own lounge, which 220 lizards with the drinks
- 33:38Speaker 5: package open from 11 till 6, which was a fill-your-boot situation,
- 33:43Speaker 5: which we certainly did. and then had the carvery on
- 33:46Speaker 5: there as well. We even had our own bookie in
- 33:49Speaker 5: the back there. She was putting on her own odds.
- 33:51Speaker 5: You could go out there and bargain with her, or
- 33:53Speaker 5: you could jump on the tab machines. That was a
- 33:55Speaker 5: great day, but probably something that put us severely on
- 33:59Speaker 5: the back foot for Sunday.
- 34:00Speaker 1: So able to lose in multiple different ways. You can
- 34:02Speaker 1: either lose through the tote, or you can lose through
- 34:06Speaker 1: your very own bookie.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Well, look, I hung out the back of the Pantsman,
- 34:11Speaker 5: Joel Harrison, and I was $ 300 up by the end
- 34:13Speaker 5: of the day, so it was a pretty good day
- 34:15Speaker 5: for me.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You know, when Pantsman woke up on Sunday, how far
- 34:18Speaker 1: up do you reckon he was?
- 34:20Speaker 5: Not too far off, I don't think. He was working
- 34:25Speaker 5: sideline on Sunday, working for Triple M, so he had
- 34:28Speaker 5: a hell of a day ahead of him on then.
- 34:30Speaker 5: But my one highlight of Saturday was we were hosted
- 34:33Speaker 5: by the Wiz, Gary Freeman.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah, one of the greats.
- 34:36Speaker 5: One of the greats was the Wiz. At one stage,
- 34:39Speaker 5: there was a tropical thunderstorm at the end of the races,
- 34:42Speaker 5: and it flooded the streets. The only way we'd get
- 34:44Speaker 5: to our bus was by me removing my dress shoes
- 34:47Speaker 5: and rolling up my suit pants to my thigh, waiting
- 34:50Speaker 5: to the bus. And I tried to convince the whiz
- 34:53Speaker 5: to get on my back, and I was going to
- 34:55Speaker 5: give them a lift over the floodwaters like some sort
- 34:58Speaker 5: of hero. He told me to go east myself, and
- 35:01Speaker 5: we just walked off. So I obviously didn't trust him.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if it's a lack of trust.
- 35:07Speaker 1: You set him up for an absolute humiliator there. You know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: he's probably all of 5'3, the former halfback for the Kiwis.
- 35:16Speaker 1: A bit of Sydney City in there, a bit of
- 35:17Speaker 1: Balmain from memory.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Yeah, look, I mean, I was going to offer him
- 35:21Speaker 5: a piggyback. I wasn't going to fire him and carry him.
- 35:23Speaker 5: I wasn't going to, like, hit him over my shoulders
- 35:25Speaker 5: like a humiliator.
- 35:26Speaker 1: He probably thought you were going to pick him up
- 35:28Speaker 1: like a toddler and you'd be hanging on to his
- 35:31Speaker 1: front and you'd be whispering into his ear, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, brother.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Shush, shush, Wizzy.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Wizzy it'll be okay now we've we've got it we've
- 35:40Speaker 1: got to go but quickly summarize the state of affairs
- 35:43Speaker 1: um yesterday at the airport and.
- 35:46Speaker 5: That flight oh my god the flight home uh look
- 35:49Speaker 5: there were a lot of soulless people on that flight
- 35:52Speaker 5: including myself mania joe jury but also loads of soulless
- 35:56Speaker 5: uh warriors fans as well still in their warriors kit
- 35:59Speaker 5: yeah bless them the warriors Warriors fans, they wear their
- 36:02Speaker 5: heart on their sleeve. They wear their merchandise 24-7. In
- 36:05Speaker 5: the face of adversity, they still wore their Warriors gears.
- 36:10Speaker 5: But I must admit, whether you're a Warriors fan or not,
- 36:14Speaker 5: Hell of a weekend. Gee, the NRL know how to
- 36:16Speaker 5: put on a show. Holy moly.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Yeah, they're no fools, mate. Give it a couple of
- 36:19Speaker 1: days and you'll be thinking to yourself, we'll see you
- 36:21Speaker 1: next year.
- 36:24Speaker 5: I'm ready for a beer already.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Good on you, G-Lane. Thanks so much for that, mate.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Have a great rest of your night. Hopefully the serotonin
- 36:30Speaker 3: comes back to him pretty quick, eh?
- 36:33Speaker 1: Grim.
- 36:34Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 36:38Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. It's right, $ 250
- 36:44Speaker 2: to put towards a gig of your choice. It's all
- 36:46Speaker 2: thanks to our mates at Super Liquor. Whenever you hear
- 36:49Speaker 2: that roar of the encore.
- 37:00Speaker 3: You've got to give us a buzz on 0800 Hauraki,
- 37:02Speaker 3: and that cash could be yours. $ 250 could get you.
- 37:06Speaker 3: I feel like if I won $ 250, it would go
- 37:08Speaker 3: towards several smaller gigs. A lot of the gigs that
- 37:12Speaker 3: I tend to go to around Tamaki Makoto, they're at
- 37:15Speaker 3: little bars, and I feel like I could crank out
- 37:17Speaker 3: a good $ 10.
- 37:19Speaker 1: $ 10, $ 25 gigs.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Yeah, because that would just fund my lifestyle. You know
- 37:24Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 37:25Speaker 1: Yeah, what gigs are you seeing for $ 25?
- 37:27Speaker 3: There's places like Double Whammy up here, smaller bands, local bands. Yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 3: usually around $ 25. I think I bought a ticket the
- 37:37Speaker 3: other day for like $ 15.
- 37:38Speaker 1: There we go.
- 37:39Speaker 3: For a local band, and they were bloody sick. It
- 37:41Speaker 3: was like surf rock. But let's go to the phone
- 37:43Speaker 3: lines and see what you guys want to go and
- 37:46Speaker 3: see with $ 250. G'day, is that Siobhan? Hello, it is. G'day, Siobhan.
- 37:52Speaker 3: It's Pugs and Mogi. How are you going?
- 37:54Speaker 1: Good, how are you?
- 37:55Speaker 3: Oh, good, good.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Pretty bloody grousey, Siobhan. Tell us, before we go any further,
- 37:59Speaker 1: what do you do for a crust? I work in administration. Oh, bad.
- 38:05Speaker 1: For a school. For a what?
- 38:09Speaker 5: For a school.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Oh, how good.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Massive bad.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Did you ever think that you'd be back at school, Siobhan?
- 38:14Speaker 5: Oh, honestly, sometimes I think I need to go back
- 38:17Speaker 5: to school.
- 38:17Speaker 1: To learn how to do your job. Behind the scenes
- 38:22Speaker 1: at the school. Fantastic.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Don't have to sell anything.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Oh, just make it up, man. The kids won't know
- 38:27Speaker 1: the difference. Don't worry about it.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Absolutely not. Good on you, mate. Now, Siobhan, if you
- 38:32Speaker 3: won this cash, who would you be going to see?
- 38:34Speaker 5: System of a Down, for sure.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 1: That's a great shout. Have you had a geezer there?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Have you looked at the prices on those tickets? Yes,
- 38:43Speaker 1: and I'll.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Probably go seated.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Because me back can't handle it anymore, and.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Those are cheaper. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they are a bit
- 38:52Speaker 1: too great. $ 220.
- 38:53Speaker 4: $ 220 I saw.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Oh, is that right? Well, I might have a look
- 38:55Speaker 1: at it then because, yeah, I thought the cheapest one
- 38:57Speaker 1: I could find was like $ 270 or something insane. But
- 39:00Speaker 1: having them as well as Faith No More, it is
- 39:03Speaker 1: a pretty good line-up.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Well, and then you've got $ 30. You've got $ 30. You
- 39:07Speaker 3: can buy two drinks.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Perfect, mate.
- 39:09Speaker 5: That's one.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Well, well done, Siobhan.
- 39:11Speaker 1: $ 250 is all yours, mate.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Tony, thank you so much, guys.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Congratulations. Enjoy that gig, and I'll hand you over to
- 39:19Speaker 3: Big Dilly, and he'll hand you that cash personally. Now,
- 39:22Speaker 3: plenty on the way after six, including how you can
- 39:26Speaker 3: win a flyweight at Chasing the Fox up here in
- 39:28Speaker 3: Auckland Plus. We've got our new segment, Songs from Bands
- 39:31Speaker 3: That I Like, and we're going to go back in
- 39:33Speaker 3: the Hauraki Big Show archives.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Hang around.
- 39:37Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 39:41Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. It is the Hauraki Big
- 39:45Speaker 3: Show with Pugs and Mogi. And as always, the big
- 39:48Speaker 3: show brought to you by our good mates over at Reburger. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
- 39:53Speaker 3: You got dinner plans tonight, bro?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Mate, I've just had, I made a whole bunch today
- 39:58Speaker 1: of red Thai curries. A mix of chicken and tofu.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Yum.
- 40:03Speaker 1: So different ones, so I split it up for different days.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I go veggie one day and then I have meat
- 40:07Speaker 1: on another. And so I made up a big batch
- 40:10Speaker 1: and they're all in individual little jars. Okay. It's all
- 40:13Speaker 1: in there and then you just add boiling water. Yeah.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And then you're off to the races.
- 40:17Speaker 3: That's great meal prep.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I didn't take you for a meal prepper.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Oh, well, when I was hard into the gym, I
- 40:22Speaker 1: was a massive meal prepper.
- 40:23Speaker 3: True, you would have the same desiccated chicken. It's nice
- 40:25Speaker 3: to know you've got some flavouring in.
- 40:26Speaker 1: There this time. I thought I'd add a little bit
- 40:28Speaker 1: of flavour in there, which is quite easy to do, actually.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Have you finished your lasagne yet?
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah, a kilo of lasagna.
- 40:34Speaker 3: In how many days?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Well, I mean, 24 hours, really. I had it for dinner.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Then I had it for lunch.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Then I had it for my meal here. Yes, I remember, yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 1: And then I finished it off when I got home.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 40:51Speaker 1: It's a lot, isn't it? It's a kilo.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Yeah, but also if you would be eating a kilo
- 40:55Speaker 3: of the same kind of, or macros in the same
- 40:58Speaker 3: amount of time. It doesn't matter.
- 41:00Speaker 1: It feels like a lot. My wife was shocked. Really? Yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 1: she was.
- 41:04Speaker 3: How good.
- 41:05Speaker 1: But that's the trouble with a lasagna. It can be
- 41:08Speaker 1: quite Moorish. Absolutely, it can be Moorish. What are you eating?
- 41:11Speaker 3: I think tonight we're going to do some form of
- 41:14Speaker 3: egg salad, which I really love. I love eggs. I
- 41:17Speaker 3: could eat eggs all day long. I think it's a
- 41:18Speaker 3: known thing on this show that I like to season
- 41:20Speaker 3: eggs or do eggs because they're great protein.
- 41:22Speaker 1: An egg salad?
- 41:23Speaker 3: Egg salad.
- 41:24Speaker 1: What else is in it?
- 41:26Speaker 3: I don't know. My partner's in charge of it.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Generally, that would be probably a mayonnaise. Would it be
- 41:33Speaker 1: a hard-boiled situation?
- 41:35Speaker 3: I think it'll be... Semi-hard. Semi-hard boiled, diced, some cottage cheese,
- 41:41Speaker 3: maybe some celery or parsley, stuff like that.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Stuff to bulk it out. Chives are good in something
- 41:47Speaker 1: like that.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Yeah, stuff to bulk it out.
- 41:48Speaker 1: You need to fill it out. Let me know tomorrow
- 41:49Speaker 1: what the recipe was, and I'll tell you how much
- 41:52Speaker 1: I'd hate it. Fantastic.
- 41:53Speaker 3: That's all I would ask. Now, later on this hour,
- 41:56Speaker 3: we're going to have a new segment, songs from bands
- 42:00Speaker 3: that we like, and it's my turn today, so I'll
- 42:02Speaker 3: bring a tune that I think should be played more
- 42:03Speaker 3: on Hauraki. Plus, we'll have a bit of Big Show
- 42:06Speaker 3: history for you. And I think this one is, I
- 42:10Speaker 3: think it's about you and the massive night you had
- 42:12Speaker 3: after Matt Heath left Hauraki, which was a great chat,
- 42:16Speaker 3: but Jase somehow decided to make it all about him. Anyway,
- 42:19Speaker 3: here's some slither on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 42:22Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 42:25Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 42:27Speaker 3: That's the red hot chilli peppers on the Hauraki Big
- 42:31Speaker 3: Show with Pugs and Mogi. Mogi, how's your golf game
- 42:35Speaker 3: these days?
- 42:35Speaker 1: It's non-existent.
- 42:36Speaker 3: I didn't think so. We kind of got into it
- 42:38Speaker 3: for a while there when we had like the golf
- 42:40Speaker 3: comp with breakfast. We had Fiji where we played over
- 42:44Speaker 3: on Natandola, wasn't it? Or something like that?
- 42:46Speaker 1: No idea. Yeah, yeah. Fiji.
- 42:48Speaker 3: So it clearly lives well.
- 42:49Speaker 1: It does. Well, I mean, look, I think Jason and Keezy,
- 42:54Speaker 1: they played against the Breakfast Boys. I didn't participate in that.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I just walked around. And then when we went to Fiji,
- 43:00Speaker 1: I played nine holes because I played pretty well, but
- 43:02Speaker 1: I knew it was going to fall apart in the
- 43:03Speaker 1: back nine. That was a fun day. So it was.
- 43:05Speaker 1: It was great. And then I went back to the
- 43:06Speaker 1: hotel and got in the pool and had a few beers.
- 43:09Speaker 3: I vividly remember your joy when I think you got,
- 43:13Speaker 3: it wasn't a birdie.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I got a birdie. I got a birdie. Yeah. I
- 43:16Speaker 1: was over the moon.
- 43:17Speaker 3: We were sharing a golf cart. It was a great day.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Did you play at Chasing the Fox, that course with
- 43:22Speaker 3: the rest of the show?
- 43:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. None of us were particularly good that day.
- 43:25Speaker 3: No, that was like our last day of the year
- 43:27Speaker 3: or one of our last days of the year. Chasing
- 43:28Speaker 3: the Fox is back. Ryan Fox is coming home after
- 43:31Speaker 3: the biggest win of his career, and we're going to
- 43:32Speaker 3: give you and another backbone the chance to see him
- 43:35Speaker 3: at Kiwi Bank Chasing the Fox. Chasing the Fox.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Hey.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Hey, there's a promo on that. That's happening on December 11th,
- 43:43Speaker 3: so you can fly from anywhere in New Zealand, we'll
- 43:45Speaker 3: pay for your flights, up to Auckland with a hotel
- 43:48Speaker 3: and tickets to the event. You can enter now at hodaki.co.nz.
- 43:53Speaker 3: If we get another chance, would you do it? Give
- 43:56Speaker 3: it another crack?
- 43:57Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. I've got to get into it. I'll have
- 44:00Speaker 1: a bit more free time available to me, so I'm
- 44:03Speaker 1: going to start hitting driving ranges. I've just got to
- 44:05Speaker 1: get lessons.
- 44:06Speaker 3: That's what it is for me, is the driving range.
- 44:08Speaker 3: I could have all day at the driving range, but
- 44:10Speaker 3: I feel like an absolute tool when I'm playing golf
- 44:13Speaker 3: on an actual course because I have no experience. And
- 44:15Speaker 3: unless I have Keezy there, he honestly is a great guide.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Solves all your problems?
- 44:19Speaker 3: He does. He does. He tells me what club to use.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that helps.
- 44:21Speaker 3: So if I don't have that, whereas it's very easy
- 44:23Speaker 3: for me to just have a driver and punt it
- 44:25Speaker 3: as far as I possibly can.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Which isn't fair. What? I've played with you. Oh. Cheers.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Enter now at horaki.co.nz and let Radio Horaki fly you
- 44:34Speaker 3: to the Fox.
- 44:35Speaker 2: The Horaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Horaki.
- 44:39Speaker 3: It's live on the Horaki Big Show with Pugs and
- 44:43Speaker 3: Mogi and it's time for a brand new segment just
- 44:45Speaker 3: introduced yesterday on the show with Mogi, a brand new sting.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Some of the bands that I like. That is not
- 44:58Speaker 1: clear messaging at all.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Is it?
- 44:59Speaker 3: So that is how we said it yesterday.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Songs from bands that I like.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Yeah, so we said it at the same time, and
- 45:04Speaker 3: I thought, you know what, that's great.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Can you go to that again?
- 45:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I can do that. Here we go.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Songs from bands that I like. Sure.
- 45:12Speaker 3: I think once you hear it once, it kind of
- 45:14Speaker 3: catches on.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, we'll get there eventually. Because you're sort of.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Listening out for it.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 3: So this is a segment that we're introducing just for
- 45:19Speaker 3: the time that we're doing the show where we want
- 45:21Speaker 3: to play songs from bands that we like. So it's
- 45:24Speaker 3: a song each day. We each take turns... We may
- 45:26Speaker 3: introduce more than one at one point, but it's just
- 45:28Speaker 3: songs from bands that we like that maybe we would
- 45:30Speaker 3: love to hear more from on Hauraki. And, of course,
- 45:32Speaker 3: we want to hear what you think on 3483, the
- 45:35Speaker 3: text number. Now, yesterday, Mogi, yours was Diesel Power.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Diesel Power from The Prodigy off their, I thought it
- 45:41Speaker 1: might have been their second album, but I got a
- 45:43Speaker 1: text through. Third album.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Third album.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Third album.
- 45:45Speaker 3: There's always an audio file down the line.
- 45:48Speaker 1: But then followed up with a banger, though.
- 45:50Speaker 3: It is an absolute banger. I've been listening to it
- 45:53Speaker 3: all day. You said The Gym?
- 45:54Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 45:55Speaker 3: At the gym.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's an absolute gem of a.
- 45:57Speaker 3: I've put it on my running playlist as well.
- 45:59Speaker 1: It's a gem of a track. I'm interested to see
- 46:01Speaker 1: what you've gone with both because this is the thing,
- 46:04Speaker 1: you're putting yourself out there with these choices.
- 46:06Speaker 3: I am putting myself out there. Now, this is a
- 46:09Speaker 3: band that is probably top three bands for me. In
- 46:12Speaker 3: terms of my daily listening, my favourite of all time,
- 46:15Speaker 3: this is Fontaine's DC.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Now, I've probably talked to you about them before. I
- 46:19Speaker 3: don't know if you've had much.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I listen to Fontaines.
- 46:21Speaker 3: You listen to Fontaines? Not a ton, but I have.
- 46:24Speaker 3: They are a fantastic band. They're on the, I thought
- 46:28Speaker 3: you would appreciate, they're on the right side of history
- 46:30Speaker 3: with certain things.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Yeah, great.
- 46:32Speaker 3: And I saw them play live at Spakarena last year,
- 46:36Speaker 3: I think, or the year before for my birthday. One
- 46:38Speaker 3: of the best gigs I've ever seen live. They are
- 46:39Speaker 3: just absolutely epic. They're also headlining Laneway this year. And
- 46:43Speaker 3: this tune that I picked from them is off their
- 46:45Speaker 3: album Skinty Fear. I think it's their third album. And
- 46:48Speaker 3: it's a bit of a moody one. They can be
- 46:50Speaker 3: quite moody, but I like the beat on this. This
- 46:52Speaker 3: is Fontaine's DC, a song from a band that I like.
- 46:55Speaker 3: This is Jackie Down the Line. Do you know this one?
- 46:59Speaker 6: No. Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I don't really know names, you know?
- 47:02Speaker 3: Yeah, fair. Give us a text, 3403, what you think
- 47:06Speaker 3: of the tune, and it'll be back to Mogi's tune tomorrow.
- 47:08Speaker 3: It's the Hodoki Big Show. Here's Fontaine's.
- 47:11Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 47:14Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 47:17Speaker 3: It's the tarts on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got
- 47:19Speaker 3: Mogi and Pugs with you. And it's not too late
- 47:22Speaker 3: to name the beautiful mascot that is a recent addition
- 47:25Speaker 3: to the Hauraki team. It's a beautiful, slightly chodish cricket
- 47:29Speaker 3: bat with two cricket balls at its base. But we
- 47:32Speaker 3: want a unique name that really stands out as we
- 47:35Speaker 3: roll it out to all of our summer events and stuff.
- 47:37Speaker 3: You can chuck your suggestion in at hodaki.co.nz or just
- 47:42Speaker 3: text mascot to 3483 and I'll send you back a link.
- 47:46Speaker 3: And all the name suggestions are in the draw for
- 47:48Speaker 3: a double pass to the now sold out ACC Export
- 47:51Speaker 3: Ultra Party Zone at the Hot Spring T20 Black Clash
- 47:53Speaker 3: in association with GWM. You can get tickets for the
- 47:57Speaker 3: actual event without the ACC area now at blackclash.co.nz.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Mogi. Yes.
- 48:03Speaker 3: We've got a best bit.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:05Speaker 3: We've gone, I've gone back in the archives and this
- 48:08Speaker 3: was one of my most notable nights or events with
- 48:12Speaker 3: the Hauraki team. This was when Matt Heath had to
- 48:17Speaker 3: leave the breakfast show. He didn't have to leave. He
- 48:18Speaker 3: chose to leave the breakfast show after an incredible tenure.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:22Speaker 3: And we had, A bloody great night.
- 48:24Speaker 1: We did. We did, that's right. We went to a
- 48:26Speaker 1: local restaurant. A very nice one. Very nice.
- 48:30Speaker 3: The nicest one I've been to.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Bullied by brass into each of us making a speech.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Yes.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Which I was absolutely loving. I was hiding out on
- 48:38Speaker 1: the footpath smoking darts for as much of that as
- 48:40Speaker 1: possible so I could try and avoid it while also
- 48:42Speaker 1: hearing the speeches.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and sort of cringing a little bit.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Well, not nearly. I mean, just like being forced.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:50Speaker 1: The foreseen. But it was actually entertaining enough.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Yes, and it was a lovely night, but there was
- 48:54Speaker 3: one member of the show, and you can probably guess
- 48:56Speaker 3: who it was from the big show that didn't make
- 48:57Speaker 3: it to the event, so somehow I had to make
- 48:59Speaker 3: it all about him.
- 49:01Speaker 4: As most of you will know out there in the
- 49:02Speaker 4: listening world, it was a big day here at Radio
- 49:05Speaker 4: Hodaki on Friday. The big send-off of Matty Heath leaving
- 49:09Speaker 4: the breakfast show, and a good time, it would seem,
- 49:13Speaker 4: was had by all mogi.
- 49:15Speaker 1: It was a bloody ripper, mate. Yeah, we popped down
- 49:17Speaker 1: to a local restaurant there in yeah well obviously we
- 49:22Speaker 1: got there quite late everyone else had been there since
- 49:25Speaker 1: around about midday but we didn't get there until after
- 49:28Speaker 1: our show was a bit of a shame but gee
- 49:29Speaker 1: she was all go And lovely evening sun it was, Keezy.
- 49:36Speaker 1: The sunscreen was out and the drinks were flowing. There's probably,
- 49:40Speaker 1: what do you reckon, 20 or 30 people down there?
- 49:42Speaker 6: There were 20 or 30 people, outdoor area, umbrellas up,
- 49:45Speaker 6: pizzas coming out, drinks responsibly. coming out um people just
- 49:49Speaker 6: bonding and happy and stoked and genuinely because it doesn't
- 49:52Speaker 6: often happen in our industry i've noticed this if someone
- 49:54Speaker 6: leaves it might be because they've gone to an opposition
- 49:57Speaker 6: or it might be because maybe they've disgraced themselves in
- 49:59Speaker 6: some way it's not often you get everyone around just
- 50:02Speaker 6: saying nice stuff about someone who's been an integral part
- 50:06Speaker 6: of our station yeah sure so that was really nice
- 50:08Speaker 6: vibes were high and then jerry just basically said all
- 50:10Speaker 6: right everyone back to my place it's just around the
- 50:12Speaker 6: corner yeah And we were there till the early hours.
- 50:15Speaker 6: So vibes were really high, Jason. I tell you what,
- 50:17Speaker 6: we missed you.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Yeah, man. It would have been great having you there because,
- 50:19Speaker 1: of course, you were tied up, weren't you? I was
- 50:21Speaker 1: tied up.
- 50:22Speaker 4: One of my girls going to live in Australia on Friday.
- 50:25Speaker 5: Duh.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It's pretty windy at the old airport there. It's a
- 50:31Speaker 1: positive a place now, I mean.
- 50:32Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys have been out there,
- 50:34Speaker 4: the international airport. I've changed it all up and I
- 50:39Speaker 4: got lost.
- 50:39Speaker 1: You should give Matt Heath a ring on Newstalk ZD
- 50:42Speaker 1: in the afternoon. I'm going to, Mikey, I'm going to.
- 50:44Speaker 1: That's good chat, yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 4: And so, yeah, we went there, my wife and I
- 50:48Speaker 4: and her and her partner, because they were flying off
- 50:51Speaker 4: and had a coffee and a bit of a chit-chat.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Going to miss her and... Actually, it was really great
- 50:59Speaker 1: when we were at Jerry's. That was good. Were you there, Mike?
- 51:01Speaker 6: Because obviously everyone came round and he got the cocktails out.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Yes. I saw the picture of Cocktail Mogi. Oh, Cocktail Mogi. Yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 1: I got the cocktails out. Yeah, that's right. We were
- 51:09Speaker 1: straight into it. It wasn't really a cocktail so much
- 51:11Speaker 1: as just gin and G & Ts. Oh, was it?
- 51:14Speaker 1: Pumping out the G & Ts there. I was over
- 51:16Speaker 1: the beers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When we were at the
- 51:18Speaker 1: previous place, I must have had about 32-y. and then
- 51:21Speaker 1: moved on to the... Responsibly, obviously. Responsibly, and then moved
- 51:23Speaker 1: on to the margarita. Did you do it in a shaker?
- 51:26Speaker 1: Was there shaker action going on? Oh, I didn't work
- 51:28Speaker 1: at the bar. I just sort of... It just came
- 51:30Speaker 1: out in the glass, so I just sort of drank
- 51:32Speaker 1: it like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:34Speaker 4: I've got to tell you, actually, while I was at
- 51:36Speaker 4: the airport, there was a party there that we're celebrating,
- 51:40Speaker 4: and the old shaker was going at the bar there, Murgie.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Reba!
- 51:45Speaker 4: I didn't feel hungry, though. I mean, my wife was like,
- 51:47Speaker 4: do you guys want to eat anything? And they were like,
- 51:50Speaker 4: I think we got some chips, squirt of sauce on there.
- 51:54Speaker 4: I wasn't feeling particularly hungry. Oh, I was feeling quite emotional.
- 51:58Speaker 1: You lost your appetite, had you?
- 51:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Because your daughter was leaving, eh?
- 52:01Speaker 4: Well, it was probably more because I was having a
- 52:02Speaker 4: coffee and that was probably my fourth of the day.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Actually, just on coffees, I had an espresso martini at
- 52:09Speaker 6: about 11 because I was getting quite sleepy.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Nice.
- 52:12Speaker 6: And then had that and then I was good to go.
- 52:13Speaker 6: And then Gerry ordered all this food. This food just
- 52:16Speaker 6: all turned up.
- 52:17Speaker 1: That's right.
- 52:17Speaker 6: So much food, like a banquet. And everyone was just
- 52:19Speaker 6: in great vibes. We all gathered around. He had a
- 52:21Speaker 6: fireplace going. He was playing 90s sort of techno music.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Yeah. God, it was a vibe. Everyone was just really
- 52:28Speaker 1: having a great time. It could not have been better. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 52:32Speaker 4: We just, my wife and I, just ended up getting
- 52:35Speaker 4: some KFC on the way home because we were feeling
- 52:37Speaker 4: pretty sad.
- 52:39Speaker 1: I mean, there were tears, obviously, and Oh, with the
- 52:44Speaker 1: tears where we were as well. Oh, my God. I've
- 52:45Speaker 1: laughed at it because it was so funny. God, it
- 52:47Speaker 1: was great. Jeez, man, some great personalities, I tell you what.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Far out. Jase, it sounded like you had a nice
- 52:52Speaker 1: evening too, though, man.
- 52:54Speaker 3: That is a very special memory from October 2024 on
- 52:57Speaker 3: the Hauraki Big Show. Great team night out, minus Jason Hoyt.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, they're the best nights.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Absolutely. And you can listen to all of our shows,
- 53:06Speaker 3: a full archive. This is where I'm finding all the
- 53:08Speaker 3: best bits. by searching Hauraki Big Show wherever you get
- 53:10Speaker 3: your podcasts from.
- 53:11Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 53:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 53:24Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 53:32Speaker 3: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 53:52Speaker 1: But I sort of feel like I should, because you're
- 53:53Speaker 1: watching it with your missus?
- 53:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm watching it with the missus. We're three episodes in.
- 53:57Speaker 3: So we're sort of doing this thing where we watch
- 53:59Speaker 3: something light with dinner and then we really get into
- 54:00Speaker 3: the deep stuff. Yeah.
- 54:02Speaker 1: So I sort of feel like I want to watch
- 54:04Speaker 1: it with someone. Oh, okay. Because I'm sitting there watching
- 54:07Speaker 1: it alone. But I think this one's such a treat
- 54:10Speaker 1: that you should watch it with somebody.
- 54:12Speaker 3: You need someone to be like, Look across from them
- 54:15Speaker 3: on the couch and go, oh, my God, that was fantastic.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 54:18Speaker 3: I agree.
- 54:18Speaker 1: So I'll probably, yeah, I've got some more covers to do.
- 54:21Speaker 1: That'll be a bit of me. Yeah, I think that's
- 54:26Speaker 1: going to be about as well.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's pretty chill, man.
- 54:28Speaker 1: What about you?
- 54:28Speaker 3: That's pretty chill. I'm going to go home and have
- 54:31Speaker 3: my egg salad. That'll come in and.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I'll reveal what that is.
- 54:35Speaker 3: It doesn't sound good, does it? I actually love the
- 54:37Speaker 3: sound of it.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Egg salad.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Yes, I love eggs. And I know my partner's a
- 54:41Speaker 3: fantastic chef, so I think.
- 54:43Speaker 1: She's a chef?
- 54:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Wow.
- 54:45Speaker 3: A home chef, my dear.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Wow. She's a cook.
- 54:53Speaker 3: And you can expect to see more of that great
- 54:54Speaker 3: chefing at our.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. I'll be marking accordingly. Don't worry about that.
- 54:58Speaker 3: In about a month's time. Really excited about that. But no,
- 55:00Speaker 3: I'll probably go home, eat some egg salad. pat jizz
- 55:04Speaker 3: the cat jace's cat and also i think i need
- 55:06Speaker 3: to print out some photos of myself to sneak into
- 55:08Speaker 3: some frames you do before i get out of here
- 55:10Speaker 3: i think that's kind of what i settled on because
- 55:11Speaker 3: that's really easy for me to do low touch um
- 55:14Speaker 3: and other than that oh i actually wanted to let
- 55:16Speaker 3: the people know there's a new video up now at
- 55:18Speaker 3: horaki big show on insta and it's of all the
- 55:21Speaker 3: original big show team so get around that also check
- 55:23Speaker 3: the story uh with how easy it is to get
- 55:26Speaker 3: on a roll to vote Yes. And otherwise, man, we'll
- 55:30Speaker 3: bloody do it again tomorrow from four.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, and on that note, I got hit up
- 55:33Speaker 1: by somebody who wasn't happy on the text messages that
- 55:38Speaker 1: I was pushing my political agenda. I am pushing no agenda.
- 55:42Speaker 1: I want people to enroll and then vote for whoever
- 55:45Speaker 1: you want to. I don't care. It's the enrolling and
- 55:47Speaker 1: the voting that's important. Get involved.
- 55:50Speaker 3: That's good stuff, Mogi. All right, well, we'll see you
- 55:52Speaker 3: tomorrow morning. We'll see you tomorrow. Arvo from 4. Have
- 55:55Speaker 3: yourself a beautiful night. It's been the Heineken Boat Show. Back, man.
- 55:58Speaker 1: See you.
