- 0:12Hello friends. Sean, here it is Thursday, It is
- 0:16the 23rd of November and this year this date is also
- 0:21Thanksgiving. If you are not American, well,
- 0:24you probably don't really celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
- 0:27But if you are a person who does celebrate Thanksgiving, happy
- 0:30Thanksgiving to you. What a wonderful day to stop and
- 0:35to pause. What are all the beautiful,
- 0:38wonderful things in our lives that we can be just so grateful
- 0:42for? Let's have a moment.
- 0:46What are you grateful for right now?
- 0:50I am grateful for a dog who just never seems to get sick of my
- 0:55attention, even when but don't give much attention to her.
- 0:59She's continually just a fountain of appreciation and ego
- 1:04building love. Not to say my family doesn't do
- 1:07that too, but boy, dogs are just pretty good at that.
- 1:10What is it that you are grateful for in this moment?
- 1:14Thank you, God, for the wonderful things that we have in
- 1:18our lives that just make them a joy to live.
- 1:25And today in our reading, we continue on the theme of God's
- 1:29faithfulness that God will deliver not just His people, but
- 1:33He will deliver them back to their land and He will deliver
- 1:36Jerusalem and it will once again be His promised land where His
- 1:41people will live and prosper under the love and provision of
- 1:45their God. How wonderful.
- 1:47Let us read together on this Thanksgiving Day, Isaiah Chapter
- 1:5352. Wake up.
- 2:05Wake up, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength.
- 2:10Put on your beautiful clothes of holy city of Jerusalem, for
- 2:15unclean and godless people will enter your gates no longer rise
- 2:20from the dust. O Jerusalem, sit in a place of
- 2:24honour. Remove the chains of slavery
- 2:27from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion, for this is
- 2:31what the Lord says. When I sold you into exile, I
- 2:36received no payment. Now I can redeem you without
- 2:40having to pay for you. This is what the Sovereign Lord
- 2:44says. Long ago my people chose to live
- 2:48in Egypt. Now they are oppressed by
- 2:51Assyria. What is this?
- 2:54Asked the Lord. Why are my people enslaved
- 2:56again? Those who rule them shout in
- 3:00exaltation. My name is blasphemed all day
- 3:03long, but I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come
- 3:10to know its power. Then at last they will recognize
- 3:14that I am the one who speaks to them.
- 3:18How beautiful. On the mountains are the feet of
- 3:20the Messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and
- 3:25salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns.
- 3:30The Watchmen shout and sing with joy.
- 3:32For before their very eyes they see the Lord returning to
- 3:36Jerusalem. Let the ruins of Jerusalem break
- 3:40into joyful song, For the Lord has comforted His people.
- 3:45He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has demonstrated His
- 3:49holy power before. The eyes of all the nations, all
- 3:54the ends of the earth will see the victory of our God.
- 3:58Get out. Get out and leave your captivity
- 4:02where everything you touch is unclean.
- 4:04Get out of there and purify yourselves.
- 4:07You who carry home the sacred objects of the Lord.
- 4:11You will not leave in a hurry, running for your lives, for the
- 4:14Lord will go ahead of you. Yes.
- 4:17The God of Israel will protect you from behind.
- 4:22See, My servant will prosper. He will be highly exalted, but
- 4:28many were amazed when they saw him.
- 4:31His face was so disfigured. He seemed hardly human, and from
- 4:36his appearance one would scarcely know he was a man.
- 4:41And he may startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in
- 4:45his presence, for they will see what they had not been told.
- 4:51They will understand what they had not heard about.
- 5:05Thank you God that you are a God of restoration.
- 5:08You are a God who rebuilds. You are not a throwaway.
- 5:14Replace and move on God, but you are a God who holds tight and
- 5:21remembers the bonds of long ago. Thank you that when we feel like
- 5:27a basket case, a lost cause, surely something that's
- 5:31disposable and not worthy of your attention or your kindness
- 5:35and energy. Here we see that that's how you
- 5:40roll. That is who you are.
- 5:43You are a God who invests for the long term.
- 5:47And thank you that we are on your long term list of assets,
- 5:52the things that you hold dear and will continue to hold dear.
- 5:55And that's us. That's us.
- 5:57And we don't understand it at all, but we'll take it.
- 6:01We are so grateful that you pour your love and attention and
- 6:05kindness into us and our lives today and every day.
- 6:11Help us always remember that we are your beloved and blessed
- 6:15children, even if it doesn't feel like it in the moment.
- 6:19You are not going anywhere or leaving our side.
- 6:22And we pray all of this in the name of Jesus.
- 6:27I'm in.
