Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans, welcome in to Duval.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by Genjag.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Beluga, thanks so much for being here.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Monday, February 23rd, right now, talking about Travis CTN.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: And a really interesting report that came out on Friday, February 20th, 1953, PM from Pete Swaney, who covers the Kansas City Chiefs for the Kansas City Star.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Big newspaper there.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: tweeted out ahead of combine week.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hearing there's legitimate interest from Travis ETN to come to Kansas City.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: ETNs do to become a free agent on 3-11 and the chiefs need to run it back.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a pretty big bombshell of a statement.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot to get into with it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about it right here right now.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate you all being here.

- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Pick up some new dov all gear like the hat.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wearing right now.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Can also hit that hype button.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Helps out a ton of apparently.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So Pete Swaney saying Travis ETN has interest in going to Kansas City.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: Not that the chiefs have interest in Travis ETN, but I'm hearing there's legitimate interest
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Just thinking about Travis ETN, playing for the chief, I mean, I could understand why any offensive player would want to go play for Kansas City for one.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you get to play with Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Andy Reed is a great coach.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of appeal there, right?
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then the chiefs obviously that they've been missing a dynamic running back for a long time, really.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Just kind of haven't had that, you know, Karim has been there main back the last couple years.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: And they had a brief moment where Pacheco was looking like he could be a star back, but then he got injured and things just quite haven't quite been the same since then.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: the, the, some of the holes that they could probably potentially create for him and the ability to get him the ball in space.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: I can see it.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: I can absolutely see that.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I always think about when it comes to reports like this, like, why is this report coming out?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Who is this report potentially benefiting?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's something I always think about because when you get something like this, that means someone told someone,
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: something like that's just what it means.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think the most logical answer is that people from Travis H. T. N's camp want the Jag wars to know that he's not going to give them a hometown discount that he is willing to go elsewhere and that you know put the chiefs name out there
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Playoff opponent, a team that could be contending for the AFC crown, that do you want Travis CTM going to that football team?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, from the Jaguars perspective, I wouldn't let a report like this.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't let the gamesmanship of these contract negotiations impact me at all.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm James Gladstone in the Jaguars, do I want Travis CTM back and do I want him back at the number that it's going to take to get him back?
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's the question.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's an easy, it's an easy decision, really.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, do I want him back at that number or not?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: I lean towards the Jaguar is not bringing him back.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see him back personally.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I've talked about that all off season.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think that his value is,
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's huge because he's a three-way threat as a back for you as somebody who has improved as an interior runner can obviously get to the outside as well as an impact receiver and show that he can be a plus pass pro back this year as well.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So he did a lot for you, but overall it's like
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: isn't worth it for the Jack Wars to ink him to probably a three year deal, where he's making 12 million issue year.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's feeling like now.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: Somewhere in that range, I can understand why the Jack Wars wouldn't want to do it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Because they have basal tootin and liquid allen to backs they really like.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be cheaper running backs who can be effective in free agency and there's going to be obviously much cheaper running backs
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: four years, right?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can totally understand why the Jack Wars would move on.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Having the confidence that they can develop basal toton and Lee Quint Allen and whoever they bring into the building.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: And recent history with Liam Cohen and James Gladstone suggests that they can do just that.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: And let's not forget like even though Travis E. T. N. isn't incredibly talented back.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: He was coming off a down year, like the Jaguar is kind of rehabbed him this year, and got a lot out of him.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just the Jaguar, is that they're like he put in the work too, absolutely.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: He deserves a ton of credit for the way he played for the Jaguar this year, 100%.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: But he was coming off of a down year, worst year of his career.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: And this coaching staff is who got the most out of him.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: They've gotten a lot out of players like
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Rashad White, who is a free agent?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Players like Bucky Irving.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then you look at James Gladstone's history as well.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: What he's done in LA, they've had a ton of backs.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: That like, you find guys who have the traits, personality wise and tangible on the field traits that fit what you want to do.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And you bring him in and you get to work.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I believe the Jack Wars are gonna do.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's free agency or the draft, I think that Travis E.T.N.'
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: 's probably just gonna end up somewhere else.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: And if it's Kansas City, I think I'll have a fantastic season for the chiefs.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: I really do, I mean, I think that that's a match made in heaven.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can do some incredible things.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: But when you have players like Bachelorette and who,
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Tutan had injury this year, but I mean, he was the more efficient back for the jag wars.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't talked about that a lot this year, but he was the more efficient back on much fewer carries, right?
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: But like, Tutan, I mean, when you look at the numbers,
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: He had a much higher rushing efficiency, just like success rate running the ball.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: But he averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 2025.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Some of that was brought down by a couple of different games where the Jaguards just weren't running the ball well.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: And he also didn't bust off any huge, huge runs this year, which you would expect him to be able to with his speed in the future.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: But his rushing success, right?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe was higher than Travis E.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: T.N.'
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: 's this year.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: And you could just see the talent, the ability, the one thing I love about Basial Tutant, despite him being like an undersized back.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: He hits, like he plays powerful, and then you have Alon who is a really good pass pro back and a really good receiving back and a pretty good runner, and he plays with that dog mentality.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got two guys, if you're really good about, they also brought DJ Dallas back.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: I really do believe that was more of a special team's move, and it's not a move that guarantees anything I don't think with DJ Dallas.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's still going to have to fight to be part of this football team in 2026,
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you'll see, again, a cheap free agent or a rookie come in here and compete.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: If they go the veteran free agent route, I think it's because they want to have, again, that veteran in the room, you know, two in an Allen, as much as you might like them, they're both young guys that just only have one year of experience in this league and you could probably use a veteran back, but maybe you say, hey, we are confident in those two young guys.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if we get one more back who we feel excited about, we can have a group that is extremely productive this year.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I've always wanted to see ET and back in Jacksonville, but Again, I don't think that any posturing by
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: ETN's camp, which I believe that that's what this is.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: The piece when you report, I believe that they're trying to communicate that they're willing to go elsewhere and that they're not going to take a hometown discount.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Again, if I'm the jacks, that doesn't move me either way.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, negotiation tactics like this.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think James Gladstone and company are kind of above that in terms of that having some sort of influence on them.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it will.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think thinking about him potentially going to the chiefs is going to impact them either.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: When the Jaguars make these decisions, it's like, do we want this guy on our football team moving forward at the price point that it's going to cost?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: And for them, it's not about price point.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's about how this price point impacts the cap.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Because Chad Khan makes sure that the Jags they have as much money as they need.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: And at any point, they have the money to make them move.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's about,
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: being able to manage the salary cap to the best of their ability and does pay and running back, X amount, follow and line with that.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to find out very soon.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
