- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:42session all about preparing for exams and I was working with a
- 0:49client in the medical. Field.
- 0:51Already very successful, but they.
- 0:54Wanted to complete a. Particular set of exams that
- 0:58would enable them to take their career onwards and upwards.
- 1:02And they tried this exam a few times before and I could see the
- 1:06conflict where they were looking at it as a means to an end.
- 1:10They had to study a lot of information, but they didn't
- 1:13really see the point. Other than just.
- 1:16Passing the exam and that becomes circular because it's
- 1:19much easier to retain information if you are
- 1:23interested in the subject matter.
- 1:26You probably know someone that is really into a particular
- 1:29sport. Maybe that's football or
- 1:32basketball or baseball, and they can recall complex statistics
- 1:38names effortlessly because they're passionate and
- 1:41enthusiastic about that topic, and someone else that isn't
- 1:45interested in that sport could spend weeks memorizing those
- 1:50same statistics and same names and same details and their
- 1:54recall would be. Atrocious.
- 1:57Because. Emotion is 1.
- 1:58Of the key things that helps with memory and also utility if
- 2:03you are being taught something that you can't see the point,
- 2:07you're not going to recall it in the same way that if you feel
- 2:10it's going to be beneficial or useful.
- 2:12So a lot of what's happening in this hypnosis session is this
- 2:16idea that they are tapping into, this ability to prepare to do it
- 2:23easily, that it's effortless to learn mainly by activating
- 2:27enthusiasm, fascination, curiosity, because the more
- 2:31curious you are and fascinated you are in a topic.
- 2:35Then. It's easier.
- 2:36To recall that, and I did pretty good at school and uni because I
- 2:41thought I was smart. But where I really did well
- 2:44academically and I don't consider myself an academic
- 2:47person is when I did my postgraduate qualifications in
- 2:50clinical hypnotherapy because I was so interested in hypnosis.
- 2:55I went from someone doing pretty good to getting very, very good
- 2:59grades, like distinctions and everything that I did.
- 3:02Not because I was any smarter than I used to be, but because I
- 3:04was very, very interested in what I was learning.
- 3:08That makes the difference. There were people doing the same
- 3:11course that I did that they were just doing it and they weren't
- 3:14really interested in it. And for them it was much more
- 3:17difficult. It was much more of a struggle
- 3:20for them to get the same level of grades.
- 3:22So if you're listening to this and you want to kind of level up
- 3:25academically or take your career to the next level, but it
- 3:28requires preparation or revision to do that.
- 3:32This might be useful because even though it was medical stuff
- 3:35for the client and it might be something else for you, this
- 3:39idea of. Feeling that even.
- 3:40If you don't know why, it could be really useful and beneficial
- 3:43to learn this stuff. Is going to help.
- 3:46You to actually. Get the outcome.
- 3:49That you want. Of course.
- 3:51It was created for an individual.
- 3:52Some of the references might be very relevant to the.
- 3:55Client and not. At all relevant to you in which
- 3:59case in the description is going to be a link where you can
- 4:01schedule a completely free consultation call we'll have a
- 4:04chat over Zoom and it might be that I end up being your
- 4:07hypnotherapist rather than just a podcast that you listen to and
- 4:11that might be something beneficial for you so consider
- 4:15that but for now find a quiet comfortable place the kind of
- 4:19place where you're not going to be distracted or disturbed relax
- 4:22and. Enjoy the session,
- 4:38take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:47resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:51And as you exhale, just feel a wonderful feeling of release, as
- 5:01if any tension, any stress, any worries are starting to leave
- 5:09your body in your outward breath, breathing and relaxation
- 5:18and exhaling tension. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 5:29deeper, relaxed. In fact, the deeper you breathe,
- 5:36the more relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 5:43the deeper you breathe as you really activate that diaphragm.
- 5:53And you can do that just by breathing out for longer than
- 5:56you normally would, so when there's nothing left in your
- 6:00lungs. It forces a deeper.
- 6:03Breath in from the diaphragm. Effortless deeper breathing
- 6:11creates effortless deeper relaxation, and as your body
- 6:18relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 6:24And just imagine floating back maybe 3 or 4 years ago to a time
- 6:34when you were studying in a curious, calm, interested way.
- 6:44Just float back to that time and see how you looked back then,
- 6:52see the level of confidence, see almost how there was then
- 7:00projection and knowing kind of like a superstar, a rock star in
- 7:10the world of that area. And I want you to imagine
- 7:16breathing, how you brought back then mimic the facial
- 7:22expressions. And I want you to think of a
- 7:26time when you were learning a lot, preparing well back then.
- 7:33Maybe a time when you were walking in a park in between
- 7:38study under blue skies and sunshine.
- 7:44And if you can recall a time like that out in nature, but at
- 7:49the very time where your brain and your mind was absorbing lots
- 7:53of new information, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 7:58And then just imagine floating into that version of you feel
- 8:06how it would feel to have unshakable confidence that what
- 8:10you're learning will enable you to progress.
- 8:16But if you prepare well, you will do well.
- 8:21And just imagine finding a place to relax.
- 8:24Maybe imagine lying on the grass or sitting on a bench.
- 8:33Just imagine what it would feel like to have the sunshine on
- 8:35your skin. Imagine your breathing slows
- 8:40down and just imagine what it would be like to close your eyes
- 8:49within a thought, taking you even deeper, relaxed.
- 8:57Imagine the breeze, the sunshine with eyes closed at a time when
- 9:03your brain was learning things effortlessly.
- 9:08And back then you required so much discipline and willpower,
- 9:16but more high standards. High standards and a desire, a
- 9:23motivation to learn something that would enhance the quality
- 9:29of your life. And as you reconnect with that
- 9:34version of you breathing in and breathing out in that quiet
- 9:42place where you can think clearly, feel deeply, and choose
- 9:47powerfully, I want you to get a sense that right now, you're not
- 9:55trying to change who you are. What if you're uncovering who
- 10:01you've always been in that dream, within a dream?
- 10:07Imagine a library, and imagine standing at the doorway of a
- 10:12library that belongs only to you, where every shelf is filled
- 10:19with your skills, your memories. Your capabilities.
- 10:27And as you step inside your own library, the lights brighten
- 10:33just enough for clarity and the air feels calm enough for focus.
- 10:40Then just imagine you're in a dialogue, in a very fascinated,
- 10:45curious, and yet confident way. Says I am ready.
- 10:54Ready to prepare, Ready to grow. And what if you're finally ready
- 11:00to move forward? Some Stoics believe that
- 11:07whatever the block or the barrier is, is exactly the way
- 11:15you need to be moving forward. The barrier becomes the way, The
- 11:21blocks, the hesitations, the setbacks are the way.
- 11:27And as you start to feel that, imagine finding a desk or a
- 11:34table there in that library, and just imagine whatever's in front
- 11:41of you is things that would be useful to learn, recall, and
- 11:47understand. And as you stare into that
- 11:50information with each breath, your focus deepens and you're
- 11:57not drifting. You're honing and sharpening
- 12:03that cognitive resource called learning, and I want you to feel
- 12:11that in this space you notice a simple truth forming that the
- 12:19more curious, relaxed, confident and enthusiastic you are as you
- 12:24prepare, the easier the recall becomes later.
- 12:32But also the opposite belief is also true, that if you're
- 12:37learning something just for the sake of it that isn't useful,
- 12:42your unconscious mind will take the view that it isn't
- 12:45important, making it harder to recall.
- 12:50So just accept that curiosity opens the mind, relaxation opens
- 12:59memory, confidence locks it in and enthusiasm connects
- 13:06everything and your unconscious begins accepting a core
- 13:14identity. You are a fast learner and when
- 13:22you understand something, you recall it effortlessly.
- 13:29Doesn't need to be forced and it's not pretending this is
- 13:35believing it until you achieve it and you have so much evidence
- 13:43that this belief is already true.
- 13:47How many things have you learnt that other people couldn't or
- 13:52didn't? You are a fast learner, but you
- 13:58learn better when what you're learning about feels like it
- 14:02matters and is useful. And when that identity takes
- 14:08hold, a lot of emotions, concentration, and preparation
- 14:15automatically change. As you sit at that desk in your
- 14:23own library, get a sense that your unconscious is beginning to
- 14:29install new patterns. There is the Fast learner
- 14:35identity, where you learn quickly, understand rapidly.
- 14:42And when you understand, recalling becomes automatic.
- 14:51I want you to get a feeling that another belief is also true that
- 14:56exam preparation becomes easy. It might have felt hard in the
- 15:02past, but what if that is because what you were learning
- 15:08didn't feel important or useful? So when you prepare with focus,
- 15:15interest, and clarity, exam preparation becomes easier and
- 15:22more enjoyable. And the calmer you study, the
- 15:27more the information sticks. When you revise relaxed, you
- 15:34retrieve relaxed, meaning both the preparation and the exam
- 15:41brings down any anxiety to a level optimized for doing well.
- 15:51Curiosity makes everything easier.
- 15:58The mind might start to ask you what is interesting about this?
- 16:05What can I use this for? Some people study general
- 16:10knowledge just because they like to learn.
- 16:14And because the mind loves questions, it starts finding
- 16:18answers automatically. Why is this important?
- 16:26What needs to happen for me to care about this?
- 16:33And we need to get a sense that learning doesn't have to happen
- 16:35at a desk. You will start to see new
- 16:38opportunities to learn everywhere.
- 16:44Podcasts while walking or at the gym.
- 16:48Mental rehearsal while cooking or travelling.
- 16:52Summaries while resting the mind.
- 16:59Love stories. What if there's a way of asking
- 17:04some artificial intelligence tool to take all of this
- 17:10knowledge you're trying to remember and recall and weave it
- 17:14into a story so that learning blends into life?
- 17:20Effortless, continuous, and natural.
- 17:28We need to get a feeling that even if you don't yet know how
- 17:34you use something, doesn't mean it won't be useful in the
- 17:38future. The moment whatever you're
- 17:43learning and preparing feels useful, helpful, and beneficial,
- 17:50then your unconscious will start to sort, organize, and store it
- 17:54because you trust that it will be useful one day.
- 18:01Most people have a cupboard, a cabinet or a drawer where they
- 18:06keep things that they don't need right now, but they keep them
- 18:12because. There is a belief.
- 18:16That at some point in the future they may be useful.
- 18:23I want you to get a feeling that what you're learning is like
- 18:25that. Even if it doesn't feel that
- 18:29helpful now, there could be a time in the future when it's
- 18:34really useful, and that's why your mind keeps it. want you to
- 18:46get a sense that you've been here before, preparing.
- 18:53Some people believe that the definition of insanity is doing
- 18:57the same things and. Expecting a different.
- 18:59Result. Which is why this preparation
- 19:05has differences. More curiosity, more
- 19:09fascination, but also taking real primal drives and turning
- 19:17them into rewards for meeting your standards.
- 19:21I want you to think of the thoughts that often come to
- 19:24mind, the kind of things that may feel distracting, but I want
- 19:31you to feel these could be the motivation, the cheerleading,
- 19:39the encouragement on the way. As what if in advance you decide
- 19:47that when you raise your standards for exam preparation,
- 19:52working out, or eating well, then you earn something
- 19:57indulgent because you deserve it.
- 20:02If you just do the indulgent thing, it loses its appeal.
- 20:08But when you've had to work hard, study hard, do something
- 20:13difficult to earn it, you win twice.
- 20:17Your life gets better by doing difficult things.
- 20:21And you enjoy the reward because you've earned it and deserve it.
- 20:30I want you to get a feeling that this preparation could very well
- 20:34be a symbolic final battle, a gateway you pass through so you
- 20:40can move forward with your life, your goals, your career.
- 20:49The more you're invested and interested in what you're
- 20:52learning, the easier it becomes to overcome this final symbolic
- 21:00battle. And you're not fighting against
- 21:04anything. You are fighting for something.
- 21:09And that thing is your future. And every time you take action,
- 21:15you are winning. Every time you prepare with
- 21:20curiosity, fascination and enthusiasm, you are winning.
- 21:26Every time you have a great work out, you are winning.
- 21:31And every time you turn down that snack or that processed
- 21:37foods, you are winning. So allow the mind to turn to
- 21:47your body, your habits and your standards and you begin feeling
- 21:53something vitally important. Hard, difficult things grow you,
- 22:01tough choices strengthen you, and effort teaches you who you
- 22:07really are. What if healthy eating becomes
- 22:12an act of self respect? The training in the gym becomes
- 22:17evidence of your. Identity and.
- 22:20Sticking to your plan becomes the main source of your
- 22:23dopamine, not shortcuts, not comfort and not laziness.
- 22:31What if you get your dopamine from consistency and not chaos,
- 22:36from standards and not moods, from progress and not
- 22:43procrastination, and with every healthy action you take you feel
- 22:51more confident? More capable.
- 22:55And more proud of yourself from now on.
- 23:02Motivation becomes momentum. Focus becomes your default
- 23:08state. Willpower becomes identity
- 23:13driven and discipline becomes something you are not, something
- 23:19you try to do. Preparation becomes empowering,
- 23:26Learning becomes enjoyable. And what if progress becomes
- 23:33addictive? You are someone who shows up.
- 23:38You are someone who follows through.
- 23:41You are someone who grows through challenge, and you are
- 23:45someone who wins by becoming better.
- 23:52Now back to that desk in that library.
- 23:55And just imagine seeing a screen there on the desk where you get
- 24:01to see yourself in the near future.
- 24:07Observe how you wake up with clarity, how you prepare with
- 24:12confidence. See how you revise with interest
- 24:17and curiosity. See yourself learning faster
- 24:21than ever. See yourself recalling easily,
- 24:27acting consistently. And there is a new posture, a
- 24:32new facial expression. You can see in your future that
- 24:35you are proud of your discipline, where you feel
- 24:39momentum building. And I want you to get a sense
- 24:44that what if right now is the turning point, the moment
- 24:50everything shifted, you believed in, you achieved in, and you
- 24:56moved forward. And just feel all of those
- 25:02future changes taking place within you now, when your
- 25:10unconscious has accepted these new beliefs, new standards, and
- 25:15taking a primal Dr. and turned it into a reward.
- 25:20Let me know by nodding your head.
- 25:24That's it. So imagine leaving the library,
- 25:30finding yourself back there in nature, sun on your skin.
- 25:34And then imagine floating all the way back to your present as
- 25:38you take a deep breath in through your nose and out
- 25:43through your nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 25:46your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 25:50here and the now, understanding that this has been a wonderful
- 25:56journey within your imagination. A journey of thoughts within
- 26:01thoughts, ideas within ideas, and dreams within dreams.
- 26:09Starting to count to awaken you 123 Waking up 456 More alert 7-8
