- 0:04Speaker 2: not seen on TV, go to buy at toyota dot com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: It's Toyota's official website for deals from the official vehicle
- 0:11Speaker 2: of the New England Patriots, Toyota. Let's go win the
- 0:14Speaker 2: picks contest.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:18Speaker 3: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.
- 0:23Speaker 4: The world's a biget pok.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I do have a theory though, first theory at twelve
- 0:36Speaker 1: oh six. Yeah, well, Evan's trying to stay humble even
- 0:39Speaker 1: though he's not really being humble. That's my favorite thing here.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Everybody will be rooting against Mahomes because he's not as
- 0:45Speaker 1: good as Tom.
- 0:45Speaker 6: Oh.
- 0:46Speaker 1: We got to keep him from being the go correct right.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But it's so transparent, you know the difference between you
- 0:51Speaker 1: in most what you don't say that Mahomes sucks.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Oh No, I like fabricating reasons to root against teams.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The problem is sharks. Later the mat.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Paul, do you have a vantage point to see if
- 1:03Speaker 2: Fred's food stains and his Emerson shirt are still there?
- 1:05Speaker 1: For last week Fred did jewash. It screwed, and there
- 1:10Speaker 1: was still so much time left. And I looked at Pat.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I said, that's got to be wrong. It's got to
- 1:14Speaker 1: only be second. They're not going to call time out.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We still got to wait till one second in the
- 1:18Speaker 1: play clock. They could force us to have to run
- 1:20Speaker 1: a fourth found play, but if they do, let's make
- 1:22Speaker 1: sure it's with less than five seconds left.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That was about coaching an NFL coach. May I recommend
- 1:27Speaker 2: the Paul Parrello school of clock fred management.
- 1:30Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:32Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:34Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:39Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:43Speaker 2: at Jillette.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Stadium, and we're how many days into the Girodmeo regime?
- 1:49Speaker 1: I think about eight eight days. There'd be no math
- 1:52Speaker 1: eight days. So things are.
- 1:55Speaker 2: We're still waiting on Hire's. Interviews are happening, the wheels
- 1:59Speaker 2: are two earning, but no smoke out of the chimney yet.
- 2:03Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 2:04Speaker 8: Uh.
- 2:05Speaker 5: The Chargers took that one last night when they hired Harba.
- 2:07Speaker 1: They hired Harbor. That was big, yeah, a big one.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Whole uh barrel full of social media posts just ready
- 2:13Speaker 5: to go, and so yeah, congratulations that what did they
- 2:17Speaker 5: what did they say? They have one that was like
- 2:19Speaker 5: the Pope Paul, this is not stuff that is that interesting.
- 2:24Speaker 5: It's like, you know, it's no.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I was just curious what they like a did anybody
- 2:28Speaker 1: do any puff girl or.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Some kind of cartoon character with like a bunch of
- 2:32Speaker 5: pictures of Harbor And I don't know they had a
- 2:33Speaker 5: whole they had a bunch of They.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Really do love themselves. I used to think Fred like
- 2:37Speaker 1: the smell of his own farts, but no one likes
- 2:40Speaker 1: to smell of their own farts, like the Chargers content.
- 2:43Speaker 5: And they're all pitching ideas like great, we'll do that one, Great,
- 2:46Speaker 5: we'll do that one. Like everybody, we're doing all of them.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But they're a little overrated.
- 2:51Speaker 9: I'm not gonna lie.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Okay, speaking of content, though, I do need to clear
- 2:55Speaker 2: the air on behalf of behalf, behalf of our own
- 2:58Speaker 2: content team.
- 2:59Speaker 8: Uh.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Brett from Lemonster writes in I have a friend who
- 3:02Speaker 2: listens to the worst reporters on patriot stuff. Every bad
- 3:04Speaker 2: Trader move they say the Patriots should do. He runs
- 3:07Speaker 2: by our group one of these morons slagged off the
- 3:10Speaker 2: promo for Deuce's new podcast two thousand and three, The
- 3:14Speaker 2: Super Sequel, because they didn't show Belichick. He thinks it's
- 3:16Speaker 2: because Kraft made it. So I searched for a promo
- 3:19Speaker 2: for the one podcast and only found an audio one
- 3:22Speaker 2: which didn't mention Kraft either while he was the coach,
- 3:25Speaker 2: but didn't find a video. What can I tell my friends,
- 3:27Speaker 2: because I know Kraft did not tell Deuce to scrub
- 3:29Speaker 2: Belichick on the promo.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Well think again, Pilm.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Not only did he not only did not tell Deuce,
- 3:35Speaker 2: he didn't tell the person who did the promo. I
- 3:39Speaker 2: thought she did a great job. I because I heard
- 3:42Speaker 2: all this thing. You know, I didn't even know it.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I didn't even see it before went out, but I
- 3:45Speaker 2: heard you didn't put Belichick in this. When I went
- 3:47Speaker 2: to her, I said, did you do that on purchase?
- 3:50Speaker 8: Like?
- 3:50Speaker 1: No, it's like you know, I had. It was really long.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I cut it down and he just didn't wasn't in there.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It was.
- 3:57Speaker 5: It was a weird genesis of that because it was
- 4:00Speaker 5: initially just an audio trailer that Matt had made, and
- 4:03Speaker 5: then we just put video onto it. So people were
- 4:07Speaker 5: losing their mind yesterday. I mean, I'm having.
- 4:09Speaker 1: People Shaughnessy was tweeting about it today. They're they not
- 4:12Speaker 1: have a coach back then.
- 4:14Speaker 5: People, Yeah, they're dming me because of the cover we do.
- 4:18Speaker 5: The people I interviewed, and they're like, why why would
- 4:20Speaker 5: you have Peoli and not Bill? I interviewed Poli, Like
- 4:23Speaker 5: I don't, people are just losing their mind.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Probably would have interviewed Bill if you would have done it.
- 4:28Speaker 5: No, no, just no, just the important people. Paul, Sorry,
- 4:31Speaker 5: we can't.
- 4:34Speaker 1: My clock man.
- 4:35Speaker 2: So like when we post this thing and Bill's not
- 4:38Speaker 2: my interview, are we going to get a wrap for that?
- 4:41Speaker 5: I don't know? And people were I mean, it's like
- 4:43Speaker 5: I can't even really engage with it because it's like
- 4:45Speaker 5: when do you start to like explain and like, dude,
- 4:48Speaker 5: I mean, look, I'm the hoodie guy. You think that
- 4:49Speaker 5: I'm going to go and like it was now, I
- 4:53Speaker 5: will say that.
- 4:56Speaker 2: There were a couple of cuts where if I was
- 4:58Speaker 2: doing it like the safety maybe you know you cut
- 5:02Speaker 2: to Bill on the sideline, you know, that would have
- 5:04Speaker 2: been a good edit.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But again, it was just a teaser for a podcast.
- 5:09Speaker 5: I'm glad you brought this.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Which, by the way, the podcast is just audio, you
- 5:13Speaker 1: know it's not.
- 5:13Speaker 5: And I didn't talk to Bill in it either. There
- 5:15Speaker 5: was nothing against Bill. There is a Bill cutting it,
- 5:18Speaker 5: and I do mention his name a few times, and
- 5:19Speaker 5: we do talk about that he was the coach, and
- 5:21Speaker 5: people can stop before anybody wants to do on this road.
- 5:24Speaker 1: The invitation for Belichick to be included in these pieces
- 5:28Speaker 1: of content that we do is there is always there, right, Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 1: we asked all the time. I'm sorry, we ask all
- 5:34Speaker 1: the time and generally do not get.
- 5:38Speaker 2: So if anyone's listening that it's part of the cabal
- 5:41Speaker 2: yesterday of conspiracy.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And I blame a lot of your people, Paul, this
- 5:46Speaker 1: was this predated my people yesterday. I guess my people
- 5:50Speaker 1: will be upset about that today. On Twitter. These are
- 5:53Speaker 1: the people this was on Twitter.
- 5:56Speaker 4: These are the people commenting on my community articles. As
- 5:59Speaker 4: if we didn't have a months long well what like
- 6:02Speaker 4: three months we started planning the thirtieth anniversary of Robert
- 6:06Speaker 4: Kraft buying the team, right, we weren't gonna do that.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But there is a group of people who literally thought
- 6:11Speaker 2: that Belichick like proof read our stuff before got published.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Now that's my people. Yeah, I mean like, no, he
- 6:18Speaker 1: has nothing to do with it, and no, we didn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: leave him out on purpose.
- 6:22Speaker 5: You know, I was a one minute trailer.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I couldn't. I couldn't believe it. And it's still like
- 6:26Speaker 5: continuing in today, like and people are so angry about Oh,
- 6:28Speaker 5: I'm like, it's a bad look. Why are you look
- 6:31Speaker 5: like this is getting you angry? Pet like I wrote
- 6:34Speaker 5: that the absence of Bill, I mean, and especially just
- 6:40Speaker 5: because it's me, like, because it's me, the Bill Belicher
- 6:42Speaker 5: coodie guy that did it.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Like Brian Morey was texting me all night. You know,
- 6:46Speaker 2: I said, what are you gunning for the Falcons job?
- 6:48Speaker 1: Like, what do you you know? He's he's he's lost
- 6:51Speaker 1: his mind, Yeah I was.
- 6:52Speaker 5: How was he doing? Yeah?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Not well? Ye, not coping well? Like I jabbed him.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I said, listen, when we do the Hernandez biopic, Bill
- 7:00Speaker 2: will be front and center.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You didn't like that he made me snuff my diapepie.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's good. Texted that's good, that's good.
- 7:08Speaker 2: But like you know, like I don't know how many
- 7:09Speaker 2: times I can like, if you don't want to believe it,
- 7:11Speaker 2: that's fine.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You don't want to believe me. That's up to you.
- 7:14Speaker 1: It's your prerogative. But I'm just telling you.
- 7:16Speaker 5: No, you know, and people like, like, seriously, just just
- 7:19Speaker 5: tell me, did you guys?
- 7:20Speaker 9: Purposely, Yeah, we just we're in a we're in a
- 7:24Speaker 9: lose lose situation when it comes to these things though,
- 7:27Speaker 9: because like us responding to it, and I do I
- 7:31Speaker 9: find myself of course, I get like, you know, defensive.
- 7:34Speaker 9: It's our brand, you know, it's our our content, so
- 7:36Speaker 9: like I want to defend the wall and everything, but
- 7:38Speaker 9: like there's no use for it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Like if it was true, I would just keep my
- 7:42Speaker 1: mouth shut and take it.
- 7:44Speaker 6: You know.
- 7:44Speaker 5: That's that's what I do.
- 7:45Speaker 1: How many times people have accused me of doing that?
- 7:49Speaker 1: Oh like, oh, you're write what they want you to, right,
- 7:51Speaker 1: just like I mean, right, what are you gonna do?
- 7:53Speaker 2: But people have been here for twenty four years and
- 7:56Speaker 2: that's and we've said it before. That is one thing
- 7:58Speaker 2: that I love about the Crafts. It's from the day
- 8:01Speaker 2: I started. We did the newspaper they said, when it
- 8:04Speaker 2: comes to football, you be objective, just don't take any
- 8:08Speaker 2: cheap shots or but you know, Evan, the the guys
- 8:13Speaker 2: from the NFL when we're Germany said, yeah, we use
- 8:15Speaker 2: your stuff to get to prep you know, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 2: your analysis because we're objective about it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Because they're Germany, they don't know anything about NFL peoples. Well,
- 8:25Speaker 1: it just you know, give because you're not helping. You're
- 8:32Speaker 1: not helping. Well, yeah, just because you just have to
- 8:35Speaker 1: embrace it. Like, yeah, it's not you know what you do. Yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 1: if you thought you did it on purpose, then it's
- 8:41Speaker 1: worth talking about.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I'll agree, Like there were a couple of
- 8:44Speaker 2: cuts where okay, you could have used Bill there.
- 8:46Speaker 4: But like sure, yeah Charlie White could engagement what good engagement?
- 8:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's how the way I looked at it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: By the way, I thought it was a great trailer trailer,
- 8:57Speaker 1: but it was. It was well done, and I think
- 9:01Speaker 1: Alex is right, it probably got more eyeballs on it.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Miss you missed, Well, it's not what you missed, it's
- 9:10Speaker 5: what they missed.
- 9:10Speaker 1: They didn't put Bill in it. It's a.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Disagree with leaving Bill out of the trailer on purpose.
- 9:19Speaker 9: They they are these people are so obsessed with the
- 9:23Speaker 9: Boston media, whether it's US or in house media or
- 9:27Speaker 9: external media, and they think we're worthless. They think that
- 9:30Speaker 9: they're you know, like that our jobs are worthless, but
- 9:32Speaker 9: they spend more time talking about how our jobs are worthless,
- 9:36Speaker 9: and we spend doing our jobs.
- 9:38Speaker 5: So like like who's the one that's who's the one
- 9:40Speaker 5: not getting paid.
- 9:42Speaker 9: It's like you sit on Twitter every single day and
- 9:45Speaker 9: if somebody tweets out something, you have notifications on for
- 9:49Speaker 9: all of us, and it's immediate, you know, Keyboard Warrior,
- 9:53Speaker 9: and it's just it's just get a life, honestly, up emotion.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Today they have their bots that crawling everything that we do.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I just had to get that. It's like, no, but
- 10:05Speaker 1: out of the way. For Evan, this is like, you know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you're not really used to being in the spot where
- 10:09Speaker 1: this happens. This is stuf. I'm telling you. It happens
- 10:11Speaker 1: all the time. That happens all the time. I almost
- 10:14Speaker 1: I was like I was circling the wagons, but I
- 10:16Speaker 1: was like, I better not. And Fred's Fred's only slightly
- 10:20Speaker 1: exaggerating when he says that, you know, like like Mike
- 10:22Speaker 1: and Tony of Mike used to come in here and
- 10:25Speaker 1: argue with Fred Felger. Mike Felger all the time, back
- 10:29Speaker 1: when he had his old show at the old ESPN,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and they legitimately thought that, like we have to get
- 10:36Speaker 1: things proof read or checked out by football, Like you
- 10:41Speaker 1: can't write that. They wouldn't write that if they didn't
- 10:44Speaker 1: get the okay, like that Bill was like going over
- 10:48Speaker 1: to copy with a fine toothed comb, you know, like
- 10:52Speaker 1: this is stuff we've been dealing with, Matt, Matt, I
- 10:56Speaker 1: love you, Fred, but there's no way anyone is gonna
- 10:59Speaker 1: believe Bill was left out as an oversight, please stop see.
- 11:03Speaker 1: But because it wasn't an oversight, it wasn't necessarily part
- 11:08Speaker 1: of like you're just putting together a real highlights to
- 11:11Speaker 1: promote from the super Bowl, like and I made this
- 11:15Speaker 1: audio thing. She's putting pictures to the audio I made,
- 11:18Speaker 1: and you're using highlights right, like highlights generally, don't you know?
- 11:22Speaker 4: I just want if they could talk to her three minutes,
- 11:25Speaker 4: they would know it wasn't at all planned like that
- 11:29Speaker 4: for crying, Oh there you go, all right, but like that,
- 11:32Speaker 4: like her identity.
- 11:34Speaker 5: It's like that two seconds shot of Bill like on
- 11:36Speaker 5: the sidelines, like that would have done it for oh there,
- 11:38Speaker 5: it is great, all right.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I feel battery and.
- 11:41Speaker 5: I mean and and in fairness, like like you said,
- 11:43Speaker 5: we showed then the safety snap, which like in the
- 11:46Speaker 5: thing we talked about so now and like where people
- 11:48Speaker 5: are going to listen to and be like, oh, you
- 11:50Speaker 5: only had like forty seven seconds of mentioning Bill Belichick.
- 11:53Speaker 1: You might want to that's not enough. You need more,
- 11:55Speaker 1: like otherwise you were scrubbing it like Mike, you might
- 11:57Speaker 1: want to do it again, just go back through and
- 11:59Speaker 1: like it since Bill back to the drawing.
- 12:00Speaker 5: But I wouldn't given what I wouldn't have given to
- 12:02Speaker 5: have Bill Belichick sit down and do it with me, like.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Come on, you know, let's let's do another podcast all
- 12:08Speaker 1: Belichick the early years.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Bill, oh man, I'm excited to see how people
- 12:13Speaker 5: are going to react to this because it seems like
- 12:15Speaker 5: they're not going to accept any of it.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So that's the trailer. We go back to the first
- 12:18Speaker 1: time Bill Belichick gave gave Paul that look.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Because like when you do these things, you know, for example, Peoli,
- 12:25Speaker 2: he's one of many.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That you it's an extensive interview.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah, like you're trying to cover while you have them
- 12:30Speaker 2: on the phone, a lot of stuff so that you
- 12:32Speaker 2: don't have to have multiple phone calls.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Bill wasn't going to do that in a way.
- 12:36Speaker 7: You know, I spent forty five to fifty minutes with
- 12:38Speaker 7: each of these people, right, yeah, yeah, I.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Mean we and then we did pull you know, this year,
- 12:42Speaker 5: Bill just happened to mention in one of his pressers,
- 12:44Speaker 5: how Brady and O three he felt like really arrived,
- 12:47Speaker 5: and you know, it was like pull that, like, you know,
- 12:49Speaker 5: anything we can get of Bill, we did in the
- 12:51Speaker 5: first one too, you know, so we can't get him directly,
- 12:53Speaker 5: but anytime we had sounded yeah he had said that,
- 12:56Speaker 5: we thought worked. We you know, of course, try to
- 12:57Speaker 5: put it in so I don't know people are.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So we apologize for, you know, the people who were
- 13:03Speaker 1: because obviously there were a lot of you, because I
- 13:05Speaker 1: did hear from a lot of you yesterday. Yeah, same
- 13:07Speaker 1: type of people. All right, let's get back to more
- 13:12Speaker 1: pertinent issues.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I mean, what's the latest, Evan, I know
- 13:18Speaker 2: you're you're keeping track on.
- 13:21Speaker 1: O C or DC interviews.
- 13:23Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, me and Deuce. Yeah, you know, we're
- 13:25Speaker 9: a tag team in this one to stay up a
- 13:27Speaker 9: little date. And right now, it's honestly very quiet. There's
- 13:32Speaker 9: not a whole lot of of interviews leaking at the moment,
- 13:36Speaker 9: So the only available offense, he'll tell you, yeah, right,
- 13:40Speaker 9: maybe I should just go down the hallidiad. The only
- 13:43Speaker 9: available offensive coordinator candidates that we know they've interviewed, or
- 13:48Speaker 9: Zach Robinson and Nick Kayley, because they did interview Shannon Waldron,
- 13:52Speaker 9: but he took the Bears job, and they were going
- 13:56Speaker 9: to interview Dan Pitcher, but he got promoted internally with
- 13:59Speaker 9: with the Bengals. So those are the only two guys
- 14:01Speaker 9: as of right now that are we know for a
- 14:03Speaker 9: fact that they're interested in. Obviously, Josh McDaniels is kind
- 14:06Speaker 9: of lurking, you know, in the in the background, depending
- 14:08Speaker 9: on what Bill does.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Maybe there was a.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Rumor today, I think Schefter it was speculation. He made
- 14:14Speaker 2: it clear it's speculation, it's not based on anything. But
- 14:17Speaker 2: when he speculates, it's kind of, you know, like when
- 14:20Speaker 2: Ree speculates, there's probably something there that Bill and maybe
- 14:25Speaker 2: others might be waiting for the chiefs to see what happens,
- 14:29Speaker 2: because Reid might, you know, retire if they win it.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Really yeah, well I didn't see that.
- 14:36Speaker 9: So he thinks that Bill would want to take a
- 14:38Speaker 9: run at the chief's job if it comes.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Available, if it became available. I didn't, and the chiefs
- 14:43Speaker 2: would obviously it would have to be mutual.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But yeah, I didn't see that rumor. That's a schefter speculation.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I imagine taking Patrick Mahomes and seeing, do you think
- 14:52Speaker 1: you can get seventeen points for us.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Handed off. I do think though this bill thing is
- 14:59Speaker 5: maybe holding up some of the Patriots staff stuff. I mean,
- 15:01Speaker 5: I know, oh, there are some guys who maybe you're
- 15:03Speaker 5: in limbo belchick kids being probably at the forefront.
- 15:05Speaker 2: But if I was the head coach of the New
- 15:07Speaker 2: England Patriots, I would say I need a decision now.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I think those are the only two as well.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That's it, you know, I can't wait. I need to
- 15:15Speaker 2: start filling my staff. You're either with me or you're out,
- 15:18Speaker 2: and that's it. I wouldn't wait.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I wouldn't give them.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I know he's probably being a good guy giving letting them,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you know, wait, but I wouldn't allow them to.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And I do think there's no one answer. You know,
- 15:29Speaker 1: Evan and I talked about this on Tuesday that you know,
- 15:32Speaker 1: if it's Covington, there's less urgency for those guys on
- 15:35Speaker 1: defense because I think you feel like it's going to
- 15:37Speaker 1: be Covington, and if Steve and Brian, you probably have
- 15:41Speaker 1: ideas of how they're going to factor in, so then
- 15:44Speaker 1: you know, and I think reeseaid the thing about the
- 15:46Speaker 1: assistant head coach advisor kind of thing for Steve. So
- 15:50Speaker 1: the more urgency to me is is offensively. And I
- 15:53Speaker 1: am a little concerned, now, do we know. I know
- 15:57Speaker 1: I've read a couple of places that Waldron did in
- 16:00Speaker 1: fact interview. Yeah, and I also I also saw someone
- 16:03Speaker 1: that said that he canceled his interview because he had
- 16:07Speaker 1: gone and I think that's what happened with the pitcher.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Pitcher canceled. Yeah, So and I've also read I think
- 16:14Speaker 1: I read the Herald this morning that said that they
- 16:16Speaker 1: both interviewed, and I didn't think that that was accurate.
- 16:19Speaker 1: But one of them did interview and one of them didn't.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I was under the impression that that the first one
- 16:24Speaker 5: did had interview a bit but got through the cracks.
- 16:26Speaker 5: We didn't really have it reported initially, and so I don't.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Know, I'm a little I'm a little concerned about the
- 16:32Speaker 1: offensive side of things because I feel like there are
- 16:36Speaker 1: a lot there's a lot of movement around the league
- 16:39Speaker 1: offensive coordinator wise, and I feel like, I mean, I'm
- 16:42Speaker 1: not trying to be overly negative, but this isn't really
- 16:46Speaker 1: an overly attractive job.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Did Zach Robinson He's still out there, He's still out there.
- 16:51Speaker 1: He supposedly he did come in. He well, I don't
- 16:54Speaker 1: know if he came in or if he was zuomed,
- 16:56Speaker 1: but he interviewed.
- 16:57Speaker 2: But I'm wondering if they're waiting to hire the OC
- 17:00Speaker 2: and the let have the OC have latitude in hiring
- 17:03Speaker 2: his own staff.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know, I would hope.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I think that I think there's a
- 17:08Speaker 1: chance that it could be Robinson and Kaylee. Yeah, if
- 17:10Speaker 1: you if you want that direct Yeah, I mean, I'm
- 17:12Speaker 1: with Paul on this. I just how we started Catch
- 17:14Speaker 1: twenty two. I don't want to be alarmist, but like
- 17:17Speaker 1: I am.
- 17:18Speaker 9: Worried about the offensive coordinator position because it's not an
- 17:21Speaker 9: attractive job. Like you are building from the studs on
- 17:24Speaker 9: that side of it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But in that way, you can't lose. You can only
- 17:27Speaker 1: go up. So but you lose, you can lose because
- 17:31Speaker 1: if it goes belly up, then it's you and you're
- 17:33Speaker 1: not getting another no.
- 17:34Speaker 2: But it can't get worse than it was. You were
- 17:36Speaker 2: the lowest team in terms of points score.
- 17:38Speaker 1: No, I understand that. But if you, like, if you
- 17:41Speaker 1: take that job, it's high risk, Hyrie Ward like if
- 17:44Speaker 1: you if it were if you go in and you
- 17:45Speaker 1: take the thirty second ranked offense with a rookie quarterback
- 17:48Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, you Bobby slowick it right,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and you you're going to be in line for head
- 17:53Speaker 1: coaching jobs. But I think, but if it's really bad
- 17:58Speaker 1: and you're out of a job in two years, you're
- 17:59Speaker 1: not gon be.
- 18:00Speaker 2: It's got to be really bad because let's let's face it,
- 18:04Speaker 2: he's starting at the bottom.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You've got a top three pick. All you have to
- 18:08Speaker 1: do is show improvement.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But what if you don't, I I can't find I
- 18:13Speaker 2: think that even if Bill O'Brien stayed, he would have
- 18:16Speaker 2: it would be improved, right.
- 18:18Speaker 9: I think Bill O'Brien felt that this last year was
- 18:24Speaker 9: a blemish on his I think he felt like it
- 18:26Speaker 9: was hurting his stock.
- 18:27Speaker 1: It might this, Yeah, that's not why he left.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Why he left I think he I think he might
- 18:33Speaker 2: have also thought maybe he should have been considered for head.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Coach, and I well, that might be he didn't want
- 18:39Speaker 1: any part of it.
- 18:40Speaker 2: And I don't And again I don't know anything you know,
- 18:45Speaker 2: But like the whole leaking, you know, Gerard had a
- 18:49Speaker 2: felt he had to, you know, clear the air and
- 18:51Speaker 2: go on and explain what's what If Gerard thinks that
- 18:55Speaker 2: was Bill O'Brien, that ain't gonna work anymore.
- 18:58Speaker 1: If you want to say it was mutual, I wouldn't
- 19:00Speaker 1: necessarily disagree with that. I'm just telling you that I'm
- 19:03Speaker 1: pretty certain that Billy wanted out.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, sometimes you know you want out when you.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Know he wanted out long before the change was made.
- 19:11Speaker 9: Okay, I just I look at this job, and yes,
- 19:14Speaker 9: you can make the blank canvas argument it's yours, it's your,
- 19:18Speaker 9: it's your oyster, and make it happen, right, But at
- 19:20Speaker 9: the same time, you're you're really hitching your wagon to
- 19:22Speaker 9: a rookie quarterback and that quarterback.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Being good one that you had input in selecting.
- 19:27Speaker 9: Sure, but if it goes good, like if you're Zach Robinson,
- 19:31Speaker 9: Zach Robinson is on the track to be a head
- 19:33Speaker 9: coach in the NFL. If he comes to the Patriots
- 19:36Speaker 9: and they have a terrible season on offense, Now, all
- 19:38Speaker 9: of a sudden, his whole career.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Just what happened about betting on yourself and being confident
- 19:43Speaker 2: in your own.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Ability That some guys do it, Yeah, some guys.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Those are the guys I want. Some guys you're afraid
- 19:48Speaker 1: of this job. I don't want you anyway. Well, that's
- 19:50Speaker 1: the type of guy that they don't find.
- 19:51Speaker 5: That's great.
- 19:51Speaker 8: You can.
- 19:52Speaker 1: You can hitch up your breeches and be all mister
- 19:55Speaker 1: and you're looking for. They were a handful of guys
- 20:00Speaker 1: around the league that we're afraid of trying to build
- 20:02Speaker 1: this offense. And I would give the one example. I
- 20:06Speaker 1: know you hate the Bengals. Yeah, but I'm speculating with
- 20:08Speaker 1: fact like Brian Callahan going from an offensive coordinator where
- 20:13Speaker 1: he doesn't call the plays in Cincinnati and getting a
- 20:16Speaker 1: head coaching job. Told what's the guy's name, Dan, Dan Pitcher,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Dan Pitcher, that I can stay right here and be
- 20:23Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator with with talent, and I will be
- 20:26Speaker 1: in line for a head coaching job a couple of
- 20:29Speaker 1: years down the road. I don't need to call the job,
- 20:32Speaker 1: or I can go to the Patriots and inherit the
- 20:35Speaker 1: thirty second ranked offense under the guise of it has
- 20:38Speaker 1: to get better when it just got worse after twenty two,
- 20:42Speaker 1: when everybody said it has to get better, including me.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you're gonna you're gonna come in. You're gonna be
- 20:47Speaker 2: able to build it in the way we all know
- 20:49Speaker 2: why curious answered with it because of the quarterback and
- 20:55Speaker 2: because of the talent. Right, But now you're gonna be
- 21:00Speaker 2: involved in building it from scratch.
- 21:02Speaker 1: So let's go. You believe in yourself? Do you believe
- 21:05Speaker 1: in your judgment? I don't know. Do you believe in
- 21:08Speaker 1: any one of these quarterbacks? I think Bill O'Brien knows
- 21:11Speaker 1: what he's doing. Yeah. Do you think he believes in himself? Yep?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Like you could be the best coach in the world
- 21:18Speaker 1: if if it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but it's
- 21:21Speaker 1: gonna be a reflection on you. But why didn't it work?
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think there were a myriad of why didn't work?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Why why it didn't work? Because they didn't have a
- 21:29Speaker 1: good staff? Number one? Okay, you know around Billy O'Brien,
- 21:33Speaker 1: they didn't have a good quarterback you're gonna build. They
- 21:34Speaker 1: don't have good players. You got all things that are
- 21:36Speaker 1: existing right now, I don't have any of.
- 21:38Speaker 2: You're gonna build your own staff. You're gonna have the
- 21:40Speaker 2: top three pick, and you're gonna have input in the
- 21:43Speaker 2: draft for for your players.
- 21:45Speaker 1: How do you know you're getting build your own And
- 21:47Speaker 1: you're like, why are you making assumption? And the head
- 21:50Speaker 1: coach just said they got money to burn. Gerard Mayo
- 21:54Speaker 1: is gonna be building his own Okay, how do you
- 21:56Speaker 1: know that the head coach, Zach Robinson is the head
- 21:58Speaker 1: coach just said we got money to burn.
- 22:00Speaker 2: We're going to be bringing in talent, so you know, Okay,
- 22:04Speaker 2: So like twenty twenty one, I want a guy who
- 22:08Speaker 2: believes in himself and wants to build an offense because
- 22:12Speaker 2: all the pieces are gonna be there.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It sounds great on a little like slogan. Yeah, I
- 22:18Speaker 1: want a guy who wants to bet on himself. That's great,
- 22:21Speaker 1: But what if you can't get a guy like that? Well,
- 22:23Speaker 1: who's not like that in the NFL? Really, I just
- 22:26Speaker 1: gave you two examples, and and you ken Waldron and yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and you just remember a position you played. I can't
- 22:35Speaker 1: remember his first name, just like he forgetting his first
- 22:38Speaker 1: year name, like you know, you know you've had a
- 22:39Speaker 1: few of those. I think all the elements will be
- 22:41Speaker 1: here to succeed. I think that's a crazy assumption. Why
- 22:46Speaker 1: because they haven't had all the elements to succeed in
- 22:48Speaker 1: like five years, but all of a sudden, this is
- 22:51Speaker 1: the year they're going to now they have the other
- 22:53Speaker 1: So this gets back to why. Why is because Bill
- 22:56Speaker 1: Belichick is gone? All right, So in your case, so
- 22:59Speaker 1: no team can ever get better. In offense, of course
- 23:02Speaker 1: you can get better. But if I have my choice
- 23:04Speaker 1: between the five or six other openings in this one,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna take one of the five or six others.
- 23:09Speaker 1: They're better, That's all I'm saying.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Because you're saying they're more ready made, they're more ready
- 23:13Speaker 2: to succeed.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Right, I'm not telling you that nobody will take this,
- 23:17Speaker 1: just not someone. You're saying it's not as much work
- 23:20Speaker 1: involved at these other places. No, they have better They
- 23:24Speaker 1: have better scenarios for you to succeed. Why because they
- 23:27Speaker 1: have better players.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I just said they have, they're more ready made. It's
- 23:31Speaker 2: it's they're closer to the top than this team is
- 23:34Speaker 2: right now.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Right, Well, yeah, every team is.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Okay, that's exactly my point.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know why, But I don't know why you
- 23:42Speaker 1: hold that against the person I don't want that guy.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I don't want that guy who looks at yeah, I
- 23:47Speaker 1: don't see and wants to be the head coach there
- 23:49Speaker 1: instead of Patriots.
- 23:51Speaker 2: And I don't want, understand, I don't want anyone that
- 23:53Speaker 2: looks at this job and piece down their leg.
- 23:55Speaker 1: So you know, okay, well that's what you're gonna get
- 23:59Speaker 1: stuck with. Went on is Evan and I have're gonna
- 24:02Speaker 1: get stuck with the guy you're gonna get stuck with
- 24:06Speaker 1: whoever doesn't get the other jobs. That's what the fear
- 24:08Speaker 1: for ever, I use, we'll see ords like McDaniels or well, yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: which would be I think the worst of all of these.
- 24:16Speaker 9: Are guy like Kellen Moore, who could you like, isn't
- 24:19Speaker 9: exactly the hottest candidate no more.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I would take just because it's different. But McDaniels, to me,
- 24:23Speaker 1: would be the worst possible right you're going to get.
- 24:26Speaker 9: You know, it's a game of musical chairs, and you're
- 24:28Speaker 9: gonna be left with whatever the scraps are. That's what
- 24:32Speaker 9: I'm worried about.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Like I I would hope that you end up being right,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and whoever ends up taking the job does do what
- 24:38Speaker 1: Bobby Sloe it takes over a terrible offense, he maybe
- 24:41Speaker 1: didn't have any other options with his Richie Cunningham looks
- 24:45Speaker 1: and he knocks it out of the park with CJ. Strill.
- 24:48Speaker 1: I hope that's what I would hope for. I hope
- 24:50Speaker 1: that whoever they want, they really want and when they
- 24:53Speaker 1: they don't let him out of the building, they make
- 24:55Speaker 1: him an offer that he can't refuse.
- 24:57Speaker 9: Yeah, and I'm not saying that this is not necessarily
- 24:59Speaker 9: the case, but but when when uh Deamiko Ryans got
- 25:03Speaker 9: the job in Houston, he knew who like the guys
- 25:06Speaker 9: he was taken with him were right now, he came
- 25:09Speaker 9: from someplace else, so it's different, right, But he knew
- 25:11Speaker 9: that he was taking Bobby Slowik with him from San Francisco,
- 25:14Speaker 9: and they were, you know, Bobby slow is gonna be
- 25:16Speaker 9: the offensive coordinator, so on and so forth. He was gonna,
- 25:18Speaker 9: you know, Demika Ryans calls the plays and runs the
- 25:20Speaker 9: defense himself. So he knew all like, the one thing
- 25:23Speaker 9: that I with the weight here that we have that's
- 25:27Speaker 9: going on, is what was the plan? Like who who
- 25:30Speaker 9: is Girard Mayo's number one offensive coordinator target? And if
- 25:34Speaker 9: it was maybe it was Shane Waldron, and and and
- 25:37Speaker 9: he ends up taking the Bears job. Like, to your point,
- 25:41Speaker 9: why why you know, why why did we not aggressively
- 25:46Speaker 9: if they if they really liked him, right, Shane Waldron,
- 25:48Speaker 9: Zach Robinson, whoever it is. But my my, my fear
- 25:53Speaker 9: is that it's taking so long because they might not
- 25:56Speaker 9: necessarily have had their ducks completely in a row, because
- 25:59Speaker 9: a lot of these guys take jobs and immediately know
- 26:02Speaker 9: who their first call is to run whichever side of
- 26:05Speaker 9: the ball is not their side of the ball. And
- 26:07Speaker 9: right now I look at it and I say, I
- 26:09Speaker 9: don't I don't know if he knew who his first
- 26:11Speaker 9: call was.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that could be true.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Maybe it was Josh, But I mean that's I think
- 26:15Speaker 5: speaks to what Mayo, what his disadvantage is. He hasn't
- 26:18Speaker 5: been in a lot of places. He doesn't know a
- 26:20Speaker 5: lot of people. Robinson was here, Nick Kay.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You see that Josh leaves.
- 26:24Speaker 2: He brings a bunch of people with him. When anybody
- 26:26Speaker 2: leaves that that's exact.
- 26:28Speaker 1: People with him.
- 26:28Speaker 9: And that's why I feel like Josh it might have
- 26:30Speaker 9: been his guy. Because Josh is a head coach of
- 26:33Speaker 9: the offense. That's somebody that can come in and run
- 26:37Speaker 9: that side of the ball, hire his own people, do
- 26:39Speaker 9: the whole thing.
- 26:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 26:40Speaker 9: Josh McDaniels comes back, So does Nick Kaylee, So does
- 26:44Speaker 9: Bohart agree. So you know, all of a sudden you
- 26:46Speaker 9: have a staff. Yeah, on that side of the ball.
- 26:50Speaker 9: You know, carn Barscilla already took the Giants job, so
- 26:52Speaker 9: he's not available, but I'm sure he has somebody else,
- 26:55Speaker 9: you know, maybe Cole Popovich comes back.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Does that excite people? The only one that's no, It
- 26:59Speaker 1: doesn't excite wanting that to happen. Josh No.
- 27:02Speaker 5: I think what was exciting to me was the Rams
- 27:05Speaker 5: guys and you know, starting to just like, let's let's
- 27:07Speaker 5: get a new offense in here. We've had two offensive
- 27:09Speaker 5: coordinators over the last you know, not counting the Mat
- 27:11Speaker 5: Pacerci year, I mean over the last twenty years, you
- 27:12Speaker 5: have two guys basically running the same offense for the
- 27:15Speaker 5: most part.
- 27:16Speaker 2: You know what I think, I think Evan's question is
- 27:18Speaker 2: a goo, who is your main guy? If it was
- 27:20Speaker 2: Shane Waldron, why didn't she get them? You know, was
- 27:24Speaker 2: it a money thing or was it just a strictly
- 27:26Speaker 2: an opportunity He saw that one as better than this one.
- 27:30Speaker 2: And if that's the case, then you should have hupped
- 27:32Speaker 2: your ante.
- 27:33Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 27:33Speaker 5: I mean, it could be as simple, or is it?
- 27:35Speaker 2: You know, like, is there someone out there that they
- 27:37Speaker 2: just haven't got to yet because there's four teams still
- 27:40Speaker 2: left in and there's something they want to pluck, somebody
- 27:43Speaker 2: they want to pluck from one of those four teams,
- 27:45Speaker 2: and all everything else is just a charade right now.
- 27:48Speaker 2: They're just gathering information, but the guy they really want
- 27:52Speaker 2: exists on a team that's still in the playoffs.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I hope you're right.
- 27:54Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the optimistic line.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I hope that that's the case. I just I am.
- 27:59Speaker 9: My fear is that the guys like Zach Robinson, who's
- 28:02Speaker 9: probably the one of the hottest offensive coordinator names on
- 28:05Speaker 9: the market right now, is probably looking at the Patriots
- 28:08Speaker 9: job and saying no thanks, because there's just better jobs.
- 28:12Speaker 1: There's just better jobs.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I mean, just look at Walter and I mean he's
- 28:14Speaker 5: he's going to a team.
- 28:15Speaker 1: That has the first overall.
- 28:16Speaker 2: We have Patriot Place, you got Tavolino, you got skip Jack's, Davio's,
- 28:20Speaker 2: you got all those restaurants up.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Top five guys, yea top calls toop golf down the road.
- 28:26Speaker 10: What's wrong with that?
- 28:27Speaker 1: I was also getting some some recent feedback that you
- 28:30Speaker 1: and I haven't been arguing enough lately there. So we
- 28:34Speaker 1: gave we gave you what. By the way, we were
- 28:36Speaker 1: told to do that. Bill Belichi called us instead, Hill said,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I want want more turmoil. Yeah, we were told to
- 28:44Speaker 1: do that. No, but I think that like sort of
- 28:50Speaker 1: and I know that you're being tongue in cheek a
- 28:52Speaker 1: little bit. Like I don't hold it against Zach Robinson
- 28:56Speaker 1: if he feels the way Evan just said, like I
- 28:57Speaker 1: have a choice between, you know, just saying, for argument's sake,
- 29:03Speaker 1: going with Jim Harbaugh and being the Chargers offensive coordinator
- 29:07Speaker 1: or going to the Patriots. I don't hold it against
- 29:08Speaker 1: the guy who says, right, I think I can work
- 29:11Speaker 1: with Justin Herbert. Yeah. Right, that's my point to me,
- 29:13Speaker 1: that's not a sign of weakness.
- 29:14Speaker 9: It's just better jobs. Like there's just better jobs. And
- 29:18Speaker 9: I know one it's Fred's pitch, right, it's let's say
- 29:21Speaker 9: that Zach Robinson just to use him as the example,
- 29:24Speaker 9: Zach Robinson has an affinity for Jayden Daniels, Like he's
- 29:27Speaker 9: just he's getting ready for the draft, and he looks
- 29:29Speaker 9: at Jayden Daniels and he's like, that's that guy's going
- 29:31Speaker 9: to be a star. That's what you have to hope for.
- 29:33Speaker 9: That's what you have to hope for. And I think
- 29:35Speaker 9: that in Chicago, either Shane Waldron is sold on Justin
- 29:38Speaker 9: Fields or so on Caleb Williams. I will find out
- 29:41Speaker 9: in three months which one it is, but one of
- 29:43Speaker 9: those two guys is he's He's like, I can do.
- 29:46Speaker 1: It with this guy. Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 2: I wonder, like, you know, it's complicated, but I wonder
- 29:50Speaker 2: like if either Matt Growe or Elliott Wolf already know
- 29:53Speaker 2: the quarterback they're gonna take at three, and you bring
- 29:56Speaker 2: in the prospective OC and you say, you know, who
- 29:58Speaker 2: do you like? And he doesn't like who you know
- 30:00Speaker 2: you're gonna pick, and it's like.
- 30:01Speaker 1: You're across him off the list. Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I don't know that that's plausible that they talk about.
- 30:08Speaker 5: That they already know that kind of stuff, though at
- 30:10Speaker 5: this point, I don't know.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I just a quarterback, just a specific quarterback, I do.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I would hope so, not whether or not they're taking
- 30:17Speaker 1: him at three. But I think that Fred's right. I
- 30:19Speaker 1: think out of the quarterback class, they have to know
- 30:23Speaker 1: which one they like the best.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I guess the combine combine is important.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I think I think Drake May is going to play
- 30:31Speaker 2: in the Senior Bowl.
- 30:32Speaker 1: He's not. And Pens and boat. Yeah, so what are
- 30:36Speaker 1: you waiting for?
- 30:37Speaker 2: You know, I think you've got you know, I guess
- 30:40Speaker 2: there might be some medicals that you want to talk
- 30:42Speaker 2: about with the guy.
- 30:44Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, you got in the one on one interview.
- 30:48Speaker 5: In hand size, hand size risk, big receivers.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That's why I didn't make it.
- 30:55Speaker 9: You can't have small gloves, ask Rob Perty you know,
- 30:59Speaker 9: small hands, Yeah, can't play in the rain.
- 31:00Speaker 10: I would have been the darling of the combine.
- 31:04Speaker 5: Really, Alex gripping the basketball.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Almost Wow, I could palm a basketball. You know what
- 31:13Speaker 1: they say about you know, you know what they say
- 31:15Speaker 1: about I could?
- 31:17Speaker 2: You know what they say about women with big hands,
- 31:19Speaker 2: big big feet?
- 31:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what they said.
- 31:24Speaker 5: Big something that could get you in trouble.
- 31:26Speaker 1: All right, moving on to break up the hand talk.
- 31:29Speaker 2: A five five pats five hundred A taken outline web
- 31:32Speaker 2: radio at pages dot com. It's an email address. We'll
- 31:35Speaker 2: do picks later.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so you kind of have to hurry, even
- 31:39Speaker 1: though there's only two games. Fred's very excited to do
- 31:42Speaker 1: the picks. If you noticed, Alex pretended she was in
- 31:44Speaker 1: a traffic jam today. I did not pretend to avoids.
- 31:49Speaker 4: I sat with my car off on the mass Turnpike
- 31:51Speaker 4: today for.
- 31:52Speaker 1: A full hour.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Dude said, hey, if you gotta if you got to
- 31:56Speaker 4: pull you, we do what you gotta do. But then
- 31:57Speaker 4: Paul tweeted at me and I said, I'm gonna push.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Through the It was a big accident, so jack knipe
- 32:06Speaker 1: on the Santa Anna tractor.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Trailer truck jack knife carrying lumber, so it was just
- 32:13Speaker 4: two by fours. They shut down the whole pike today
- 32:15Speaker 4: and I was like ten minutes into my commute.
- 32:17Speaker 5: Tour and you know the pike because there's like ten
- 32:19Speaker 5: miles between some of those exits. So yeah, yeah, you
- 32:22Speaker 5: got nowhere to go.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I told you someone was expecting a delivery to build
- 32:26Speaker 4: their house today and they're going to be significantly.
- 32:28Speaker 1: To fifty degree weather. Perfect.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that's thanks, all right, Thanks, everyone's okay.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Thanks for toughing it out, Alex. We appreciate that. Thanks
- 32:38Speaker 1: for allowing me to shame. You should we go to
- 32:42Speaker 1: the calls, start getting the listeners and mix it up
- 32:46Speaker 1: a little bit like, oh, we didn't even get to
- 32:50Speaker 1: the news. What's the news? What is signed Michael Jordan? Oh? Yeah, yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 1: you did?
- 32:57Speaker 9: You know that people made you know, there was some
- 32:58Speaker 9: memes that were going around about this. How many memes
- 33:01Speaker 9: are we and.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I don't know going on because I know we created one.
- 33:08Speaker 2: And I got emails that why isn't billing that meme.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Right? Phil Jackson would have quote? So why wasn't it
- 33:16Speaker 1: just right? Phil Jackson would have been there?
- 33:19Speaker 4: All the comments were like, Wow, the new social team's
- 33:21Speaker 4: popping off.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, yeah, so I'm making fun of you. Anyone
- 33:27Speaker 2: that yeah is you know on us, I'm making funny
- 33:30Speaker 2: all right, So let's start with Josh and Dallas.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Hey, Josh, Hey, everyone.
- 33:36Speaker 6: I don't want to be nitpicky, but on Tuesday, when
- 33:39Speaker 6: you were referring to the Girardo quote, you you guys
- 33:42Speaker 6: were just talking about how he said that they were
- 33:45Speaker 6: going to draft at the most important position, but the
- 33:48Speaker 6: actual quote was that they're going to draft the best
- 33:50Speaker 6: player for a position that's very important. And I feel
- 33:54Speaker 6: like that still leans quarterback. But to me, it could
- 33:56Speaker 6: also just be like a tongue in cheek way of saying,
- 33:59Speaker 6: they are obvious quarterback, receiver, and tackle, and so whoever
- 34:03Speaker 6: the best player at one of those important positions is there,
- 34:07Speaker 6: that's who we're going to take.
- 34:08Speaker 1: You're right, you're right, You're right about what he said,
- 34:10Speaker 1: But I would disagree about your characterization of those three
- 34:13Speaker 1: positions like wide receiver ascends anywhere near the like to.
- 34:18Speaker 2: But like Josh said, he could have been doing a
- 34:20Speaker 2: tongue in sheep.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Oh I totally think he did. Yeah, because I totally
- 34:22Speaker 1: I totally agree with Josh. Yeah, yeah, prepared to like
- 34:26Speaker 1: maybe guard or no, you know right, I think so.
- 34:29Speaker 9: They're not going to draft a guard from Chattanooga again
- 34:32Speaker 9: in the first round.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Is that what you're telling them?
- 34:33Speaker 5: That's that's not hopefully not.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so he did.
- 34:37Speaker 9: He has mentioned quarterback, receiver, tackle a couple times in
- 34:41Speaker 9: some of these interviews. So whether he feels that way,
- 34:45Speaker 9: the front office feels someone's feeling that way in the organization,
- 34:49Speaker 9: that's you know, on girod Mayo's side that uh, those
- 34:52Speaker 9: are the three biggest needs, which I don't think anybody.
- 34:54Speaker 5: Would argue with So look at the death chart, it's obvious.
- 34:56Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, you know not the tight end is
- 34:58Speaker 5: the third overall need.
- 34:59Speaker 1: But that's a that's I would say tight end is
- 35:01Speaker 1: every bit as big of a need, except for you
- 35:03Speaker 1: don't take a tight end. Thanks for the call, Josh.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Unless he's a you know, generational talent like Kyle Pitts. No, no,
- 35:12Speaker 1: that's what he was. There was there just not that important, right,
- 35:16Speaker 1: there's a better one in the rocks. Yeah, cop Pits.
- 35:20Speaker 9: Copits is a really good, we're really good receiver prospect.
- 35:23Speaker 9: But he was always like a jumbo receiver. You know,
- 35:25Speaker 9: he wasn't like a hand in the dirt block.
- 35:26Speaker 1: And I know we got hurt. I got yelled at
- 35:28Speaker 1: for making fun of him yesterday.
- 35:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yeah, well you like you'd like to give you some
- 35:32Speaker 5: Kyle Pitts that I wonder, what's one of your favorites.
- 35:35Speaker 9: Cop Pits is one of those players that, like, if
- 35:37Speaker 9: he gets with the right in the right system, with
- 35:39Speaker 9: the right coordinator and all.
- 35:40Speaker 12: Like.
- 35:40Speaker 9: I think that his issues are not talent. I think
- 35:42Speaker 9: his issues were that Arthur Smith was not using him.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I would agree with that, even though it was critical yesterday.
- 35:49Speaker 1: How about I've had him on my fantasy team.
- 35:51Speaker 2: There he is Eldred in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Hey? Another one? Every time she had any time he
- 36:00Speaker 1: calls him, he talks to the women because you know,
- 36:02Speaker 1: everybody says, he says the rest.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Of us that you're saying, lady sounds weird, Alex, I
- 36:10Speaker 2: appreciate it.
- 36:13Speaker 13: Addressed the lady in the room first in the fellows
- 36:15Speaker 13: a gentleman, I wouldn't.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't know about class gentleman right there? What's up, biggie?
- 36:23Speaker 1: Yeah we're here?
- 36:25Speaker 13: Okay, okay, yet the car up?
- 36:27Speaker 14: Okay?
- 36:28Speaker 13: But my question about to office for it? I feel
- 36:31Speaker 13: like y'all do him kind of hantsy. But it could
- 36:33Speaker 13: also be that he's a rookie coach to and a
- 36:36Speaker 13: lot maybe some people don't want to becides to cover.
- 36:38Speaker 13: Uh you know, it's bear here, you know, so you
- 36:42Speaker 13: think that might be at all I could be.
- 36:44Speaker 2: But I think that's an advantage because I think the
- 36:46Speaker 2: o C is going to have more autonomy because he's
- 36:49Speaker 2: a rookie coach. The rookie coach is going to have
- 36:51Speaker 2: to lean or should be leaning on his coordinators.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You know.
- 36:55Speaker 9: And I think that's part of the appeal. If there's
- 36:58Speaker 9: any appeal for Josh, it's the experience factor. Yeah right,
- 37:01Speaker 9: Like he's coordinated an offense before, he's head coached teams before,
- 37:05Speaker 9: so he knows, you know, how to do that those
- 37:08Speaker 9: types of things. I think, you know, Kellen Moore is
- 37:09Speaker 9: now starting the Eagles, the Browns, other teams are starting
- 37:12Speaker 9: to interview Kellen Moore. Now that Harbaugh's and the charge
- 37:15Speaker 9: of another guy that's coordinated in offense before, that's called
- 37:18Speaker 9: plays before, we're not doing all new everywhere. And I
- 37:21Speaker 9: think that that is a factor.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Plus Josh can fix.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Mac Marvin says that ESPN just said that the Panthers
- 37:26Speaker 2: hire Buccaneers Dave Canally's that's correct.
- 37:29Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Oh he's got the head coaching jobs with Carolina.
- 37:32Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah, as they said in Rocky, I wish him well, Yes, sir.
- 37:40Speaker 13: From the guys, from from the people up here in
- 37:42Speaker 13: Panthers Stadium and my friends up in North Carolina. They
- 37:45Speaker 13: also taheel. They say, if you draft Drake May, it's
- 37:49Speaker 13: gonna be started at you have ade. Oh but he's
- 37:52Speaker 13: they've been watching him and like I said, we watch him.
- 37:55Speaker 13: You watch a cup of filmstrip.
- 37:57Speaker 17: We watch him here and like I said, death will okay, alright, alright, Eldred, alright,
- 38:06Speaker 17: we'll see Eldred down on Drake.
- 38:08Speaker 1: May you have film strips of the guys like remember
- 38:12Speaker 1: but here he is no way you had.
- 38:14Speaker 15: Films and school.
- 38:17Speaker 9: Projectors. Maybe, But I did tell you about my my
- 38:20Speaker 9: storage problem on my computer, that I have so many
- 38:24Speaker 9: clips of film that like I am, I need an
- 38:28Speaker 9: external hard.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Drink the cloud. That's what you need, a storage, cloud storage,
- 38:34Speaker 1: you need to clean out some of that cloud. To
- 38:37Speaker 1: him in his parm.
- 38:40Speaker 9: You mean Joe pancaking people, right, that's what you mean.
- 38:43Speaker 1: To each his own whatever, whatever, Just just just get
- 38:46Speaker 1: in here, Joe. Did you did you see this? Watch
- 38:50Speaker 1: the hand placement? God, they're right all right, he's done
- 38:53Speaker 1: with Joe takes a shower kick post.
- 38:57Speaker 4: He probably doesn't want just to see how.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Kicks the Kickstu.
- 39:02Speaker 9: Yeah, I know when I watched Joel, I did take
- 39:04Speaker 9: a shower after.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Inst uh.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Nick is an Australia. Hey, niek, Hey, guys, really upset
- 39:16Speaker 2: Cocoa glos this morning.
- 39:19Speaker 14: Quickly that Evan, I really appreciate your film studying and breakdown.
- 39:25Speaker 14: You've really made it easy for someone like me to
- 39:27Speaker 14: understand a little bit more. I think the job you
- 39:29Speaker 14: do is is phenomenal, so great, higher by Fred, but
- 39:34Speaker 14: yes we do get Josh McDaniels, which hopefully we don't.
- 39:38Speaker 14: Which quarterbacks skiing the best out of the three? Is
- 39:41Speaker 14: it one in particular, all three.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Of them, McDaniels, it's McDaniels.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I mean, this is the reason why by bringing back,
- 39:48Speaker 1: this is the reason why.
- 39:49Speaker 9: I've been talking myself into Drake may Is, because I
- 39:51Speaker 9: think if you're if you're gonna go with the more
- 39:54Speaker 9: of that like traditional, like we need somebody that's going
- 39:57Speaker 9: to be in structure that that's a that's him. You
- 40:01Speaker 9: know that Drake may Is is, in my opinion, the
- 40:03Speaker 9: best instructure quarterback in this class, like mac Jones was yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 9: but with bigger, taller, better arm strengths, you know, like
- 40:11Speaker 9: a guy that more toolsy mac Jones.
- 40:15Speaker 11: And if that's good, does these systems still is it
- 40:19Speaker 11: be outdated Josh McDaniels system or is it still something
- 40:23Speaker 11: that holds up because I don't know, I didn't watch
- 40:25Speaker 11: a lot of UH Raiders games, but I don't know
- 40:28Speaker 11: if the offense is down this year, but it was.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Down until the new guy came then they started playing.
- 40:36Speaker 9: I think that, you know, there's a good deeper conversation
- 40:39Speaker 9: about like the difference between like system and scheme, right,
- 40:43Speaker 9: Like scheme is like your play designs. And I think
- 40:45Speaker 9: that what the Patriots used to do offensively schematically is
- 40:49Speaker 9: still sound. It can still work in the NFL. My
- 40:52Speaker 9: concerns are more about the system side of things, of
- 40:54Speaker 9: how they're getting in and out of plays, the control
- 40:57Speaker 9: out the line of scrimmage, on the quarterback, the adjustments
- 41:00Speaker 9: on the routes. I think there's a lot of information
- 41:03Speaker 9: that gets thrown at players in this offense, and I
- 41:05Speaker 9: think it can be difficult for players that are coming
- 41:09Speaker 9: from these college systems, especially that are nowhere near as complex,
- 41:13Speaker 9: and now they're getting put into these NFL systems like
- 41:15Speaker 9: the McDaniels offense, and then all of a sudden, quarterback especially,
- 41:19Speaker 9: there's just so much on your plate, and I feel
- 41:22Speaker 9: like some for some of those guys, that's that's a
- 41:24Speaker 9: difficult adjustment to make.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Thanks Dake, appreciate the call. L from Wisconsin writes, and
- 41:30Speaker 2: when talking about having a head coach of the offense,
- 41:33Speaker 2: Evan said that Josh McDaniels might be someone they're looking
- 41:36Speaker 2: at because he quote would have a staff and knows
- 41:39Speaker 2: how to be a head coach, so we could run
- 41:41Speaker 2: that side of the ball. I would just argue that
- 41:43Speaker 2: Josh in fact, does not know how to be a
- 41:45Speaker 2: head coach.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Well, but he's not the actual head, right, he's just
- 41:48Speaker 1: just the offense he knows.
- 41:49Speaker 5: But I just, I mean, I think most of us
- 41:51Speaker 5: are on the same page of like just running it
- 41:53Speaker 5: back with that same old offense.
- 41:54Speaker 1: And you know, concern me and in fairness, I know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: like the Raiders stuff, like they didn't have any offense.
- 42:03Speaker 1: With or without the Raiders' lack of offense. It's not
- 42:06Speaker 1: like they started lighting it up with Aidan O'Connell down
- 42:08Speaker 1: the stretch. They won some games, but it wasn't because
- 42:11Speaker 1: they were suddenly putting, you know, forty points on the
- 42:14Speaker 1: board every game. You know, they won some low scoring
- 42:17Speaker 1: games too. And I don't think it was all mcdaniels's fault.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Their defense order food. I told you I was right there.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I mean, I haven't got up and when got himself something,
- 42:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna pass out. Yeah you want to do something,
- 42:36Speaker 1: we can do that, all right.
- 42:38Speaker 2: We got to take a break because Paul's foods here.

- 43:01Speaker 7: As I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 43:04Speaker 7: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories, I realize
- 43:10Speaker 7: it was all thanks to my teammate, Toastitos.
- 43:14Speaker 15: It was always you, Toastitos.
- 43:18Speaker 7: Team up with Toastitos, the official chip and dip of
- 43:21Speaker 7: the New England Patriots.

- 43:57Speaker 18: And we are back with another edition of the Time Show,
- 44:01Speaker 18: as always joined by Faith Borrel and we are going
- 44:04Speaker 18: to start so with some trivia like we always do,
- 44:06Speaker 18: of course. So question one. In a win over Buffalo
- 44:10Speaker 18: the Buffalo Bills in twenty twelve, which Patriots wide receiver
- 44:14Speaker 18: caught a touchdown pass where there is an iconic photo
- 44:17Speaker 18: of him smiling while making the catch.
- 44:19Speaker 10: Smiling?
- 44:20Speaker 18: I believe it was a touchdown? Do you know that
- 44:21Speaker 18: one that was twelve? You've definitely seen the picture. That's
- 44:24Speaker 18: a different story, all right. These two questions are faith questions,
- 44:28Speaker 18: so I hope they're correct. In a twenty ten game
- 44:31Speaker 18: against the Dolphins, the Patriots had a new league record
- 44:33Speaker 18: by coming by becoming the first team to accomplish which
- 44:37Speaker 18: feet All right, Wow, that's a that's a good one.
- 44:40Speaker 18: That's a hard one and number Patriot website. Okay, there
- 44:44Speaker 18: you go. And question three, Julian Edelman became the second
- 44:48Speaker 18: Patriots wide receiver to win a Super Bowl MVP honors
- 44:50Speaker 18: in Super Bowl fifty three. How many receiving yards did
- 44:53Speaker 18: Edelman have in the Super Bowl? All Right? What A
- 44:56Speaker 18: asked that before? Well, that might have that's a deep
- 44:59Speaker 18: cut appear.
- 44:59Speaker 10: You have to see if anyone remembers.
- 45:02Speaker 18: All right, So we're gonna run it back like we
- 45:03Speaker 18: did the other day. We're gonna do some start bench
- 45:06Speaker 18: cuts and so first faith, start bench cut, Arrowhead Stadium,
- 45:11Speaker 18: MB ANDT Bank Stadium in ford Field.
- 45:15Speaker 10: So I'm gonna approach this question like playoff scenario. Okay,
- 45:19Speaker 10: they're hosting a playoff game. What atmosphere you want to
- 45:22Speaker 10: be in?
- 45:22Speaker 8: First of all, I think all three of these stadiums
- 45:24Speaker 8: do they do home field advantage right?
- 45:27Speaker 17: Like?
- 45:27Speaker 10: They make it hard for opposing teams.
- 45:32Speaker 8: I feel like I like, in terms of this season,
- 45:35Speaker 8: I feel like I should start ford Field simply because
- 45:38Speaker 8: of how much has like gone into this all right,
- 45:41Speaker 8: Like if you're talking about like this season, I just
- 45:44Speaker 8: feel like there's so much passion and excitement around it.
- 45:46Speaker 8: Like I'm bought in on the Lions story. So I'm
- 45:49Speaker 8: gonna start ford Field, which is I think in other
- 45:53Speaker 8: years probably not would have been the case, but we're
- 45:55Speaker 8: gonna start ford Field. Arrowhead is like I've been told
- 46:00Speaker 8: I've never been to Arrowhead. I've been told it's like
- 46:03Speaker 8: should be the top of everyone's bucket list. But also
- 46:06Speaker 8: MB and T Bank Stadium. They've got like the marching band,
- 46:09Speaker 8: Like it's like a college football environment. So I'm gonna
- 46:14Speaker 8: have probably a hot take and put the Raven Stadium
- 46:17Speaker 8: as my bench, and then I'm gonna cut Arrowhead.
- 46:19Speaker 18: Okay, interesting, So I like what you did with ford Field. Yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 18: but you can't start him because everybody in that stadium
- 46:27Speaker 18: has never been has the playoff game more or less,
- 46:29Speaker 18: that's true. So I'm going I'm actually going in the
- 46:31Speaker 18: order is Arrowhead, the Raven Stadium and in ford Field,
- 46:35Speaker 18: And honestly, Ford ford Field just reminds me of the
- 46:38Speaker 18: lines losing on Thanksgiving. That's all I could think of that.
- 46:40Speaker 18: So maybe they'll become a juggernaut for a couple of years,
- 46:42Speaker 18: but that's fair. That's how I'm gonna do it, all right.
- 46:45Speaker 18: Number two Ceedee Lamb A. J. Brown.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill.
- 46:52Speaker 8: I feel like you'd be a little crazy to not
- 46:55Speaker 8: start Tyreek Hill in this situation just because of how
- 46:58Speaker 8: versatile he is.
- 46:59Speaker 18: I think he's one of the most dangerous players in
- 47:01Speaker 18: the league.
- 47:01Speaker 1: YEP.
- 47:04Speaker 8: I think CD is unfortunately a product of his environment
- 47:07Speaker 8: to some extent, like you can only hit such a
- 47:09Speaker 8: ceiling because the rest of the team can't seem to
- 47:11Speaker 8: get further. Like he's an outstanding player, but I think
- 47:14Speaker 8: he's one of those like stars that's kind of stuck
- 47:16Speaker 8: in the Cowboys curse.
- 47:18Speaker 10: So I'm gonna go benching AJ Brown.
- 47:21Speaker 18: I'm gonna do the same thing AJ Brown did it
- 47:23Speaker 18: in the Super Bowl. Yeah, should have been Patriot. That's
- 47:26Speaker 18: a different story. Well, all right, we're gonna we're gonna
- 47:28Speaker 18: leave football, all right, crazy, all right, FaceTime, phone call
- 47:33Speaker 18: or text.
- 47:34Speaker 10: I'm such a fan of FaceTime, all right.
- 47:37Speaker 8: I even if it's just like like my best friend
- 47:39Speaker 8: from a home she'll FaceTime me in the morning and
- 47:41Speaker 8: we'll just be like getting ready together talking about our
- 47:43Speaker 8: day FaceTime. But then I'm gonna go text and I'm
- 47:47Speaker 8: gonna bench phone calls.
- 47:48Speaker 10: Reason. Phone calls are like stressful to me.
- 47:50Speaker 18: I can never do sales because I don't even like
- 47:52Speaker 18: talking to my friends. Now it's awful. I get my desk,
- 47:55Speaker 18: phone goes off and I don't even like, don't touch that.
- 47:58Speaker 18: I'm a big person. If somebody calls me and I like,
- 48:01Speaker 18: I send it to voicemail and then.
- 48:02Speaker 10: I'll text them yes, and the idea flag for me.
- 48:04Speaker 18: But it is what it is, all right, Marvel, Star Wars,
- 48:09Speaker 18: Harry Potter a good one, and recent bias.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 8: True, I'm such a Marvel fan, so I have to
- 48:16Speaker 8: start Marvel. I actually, as of recently, watched all of
- 48:19Speaker 8: the Harry Potter movies. I had only seen like basically
- 48:23Speaker 8: like those moments you would see like on TikTok or
- 48:25Speaker 8: Instagram like from Harry Potter movies. I really hadn't watched
- 48:28Speaker 8: them so recentcy bias and the fact that I really
- 48:31Speaker 8: enjoyed them. I'm gonna bench Harry Potter and I am
- 48:33Speaker 8: gonna cut Star Wars because I haven't made it through.
- 48:36Speaker 18: That's that's faith. That's tough. I'm starting Star Wars. I'm
- 48:39Speaker 18: a bench in Marvel and cutting Harry Potter. But Marvel
- 48:42Speaker 18: is on my my list right now because it's been awful. Oh,
- 48:46Speaker 18: I have not been watching so and I know Matt's
- 48:49Speaker 18: gonna hate that for me, But he's gonna hate me
- 48:52Speaker 18: for cut Wars, that's true. But and then we'll finish
- 48:56Speaker 18: off with this one. It's it's it's supposed to be winter.
- 49:00Speaker 18: It's even though it's fifty five degrees today skiing, snowboarding,
- 49:05Speaker 18: ice skating.
- 49:06Speaker 8: So I have never skied or snowboarded, but I put
- 49:11Speaker 8: this question in here for you because I knew you
- 49:12Speaker 8: would have opinion. But I think let's just gonna We're
- 49:17Speaker 8: gonna go on the premise that if I was to
- 49:18Speaker 8: try those other two activities i've ice skated before, I
- 49:22Speaker 8: think I would start skiing. I'd probably bench ice skating
- 49:27Speaker 8: and probably cut snowboarding only because I'm really bad at
- 49:30Speaker 8: like wakeboarding, and I'm assuming to some extent maybe those
- 49:34Speaker 8: skills are just not going to translate.
- 49:35Speaker 18: So all right, I'm starting snowboarding obviously benching ice skating,
- 49:42Speaker 18: and I'm cutting skiing.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I don't like skating.
- 49:44Speaker 18: I'll think they're better than you, and I might get
- 49:47Speaker 18: crucified for this. You look like a herb if you're skiing.
- 49:50Speaker 18: There's like very it's very hard to look cool while skating. Fair,
- 49:54Speaker 18: And I'll leave my DMS off so I don't get
- 49:57Speaker 18: attacked by that turning off social media exactly. All right,
- 50:01Speaker 18: that was a fun one, Faith, Thanks for these these
- 50:03Speaker 18: start bench cuts, and let's get back to the half
- 50:07Speaker 18: times the regular.
- 50:11Speaker 19: When someone accidentally threw the school play costumes. Oh, no
- 50:16Speaker 19: replacements were shipped with FedEx, and with picture proof of delivery,
- 50:19Speaker 19: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx. Where
- 50:23Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Only and now great moments in history. I'm really embarrassed
- 50:34Speaker 1: about this. It's an embarrassing moment, very embarrassing. So I'm
- 50:38Speaker 1: that's a funny story.
- 50:39Speaker 2: I'm at the party with my wife and this is
- 50:40Speaker 2: before everybody got their ring, so it's still early.
- 50:43Speaker 1: People are still arriving, and I'm.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Standing kind of in a middle area where you know,
- 50:47Speaker 2: as people go by, and tought Jonathan Kraft and people
- 50:50Speaker 2: we work with, and Tom comes in with Giselle.
- 50:55Speaker 1: That would be Tom Brady, Tom Brady. Okay, well with Giselle.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Kind is the giveaway. But anyway, so I said, hey, Tom,
- 51:02Speaker 1: how you doing? And I stuck my hand out for
- 51:04Speaker 1: a handshake, and.
- 51:06Speaker 10: He came in for the hug.
- 51:07Speaker 1: He came in hot, hot, wow, so hot that I
- 51:12Speaker 1: kissed him on the chief.
- 51:15Speaker 9: Wow.
- 51:17Speaker 1: So he went in for the hug and Fred did
- 51:19Speaker 1: the Cassandra inappropriate a moment.
- 51:22Speaker 5: I did it.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, what did I just do?
- 51:25Speaker 4: Did he react to it?
- 51:27Speaker 1: He's so tall, I don't know that's another great moment from.
- 51:33Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriot's Unfiltered eight five five
- 51:36Speaker 2: Pats five hundred.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Is the ACE ticket hotline.

- 52:27Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, gotta get that delivered. Yeah they do,
- 52:30Speaker 9: good job.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yep.
- 52:32Speaker 2: All right, h eight five five Pass five hundred is
- 52:34Speaker 2: the ACE ticket outline. We did have trivia Paul oh next,
- 52:37Speaker 2: don't look, I don't look. We had trivia at halftime
- 52:41Speaker 2: in a win over the Buffalo Bills in twenty twelve,
- 52:43Speaker 2: which Patriots wide receiver caught a touchdown pass where there
- 52:47Speaker 2: is an iconic photo of him smiling making the catch.
- 52:51Speaker 1: And I remember that photo, well, Brandon Lloyd.
- 52:54Speaker 2: That's correct, Brandon Lloyd. The winner is Adrian Lopez.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Congratulations. I believe that was a picture that we nominated
- 53:02Speaker 1: for the NFL's Best Pitchers of the Year. And now
- 53:05Speaker 1: my food comes.
- 53:06Speaker 2: In a twenty ten game against the Dolphins, enough, the
- 53:10Speaker 2: Patriots set a new league record by becoming the first
- 53:13Speaker 2: team to accomplish which feet twenty ten game against the Dolphins.
- 53:20Speaker 1: They returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown, a
- 53:23Speaker 1: block punt for a touchdown, you're for a touchdown.
- 53:28Speaker 2: The same game, they scored five different ways.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 53:33Speaker 2: They scored a rushing touchdown ben Jarvis green Ellis, a
- 53:37Speaker 2: receiving touchdown, Danny Woodhead, a kickoff return for a touchdown
- 53:40Speaker 2: Brandon Tate, a block field goal returned for a touchdown
- 53:43Speaker 2: Kyle Arrington, and an interception return.
- 53:46Speaker 1: For a touchdown. Who did that?
- 53:48Speaker 8: No?
- 53:48Speaker 1: Patrick Chung Patrick Chung is correct, Paul no winner. Nobody
- 53:53Speaker 1: got that one. Tough.
- 53:54Speaker 2: And finally, Julian Edelman became the second Patriots receiver to
- 53:57Speaker 2: win a Super Bowl MVP honors and Super Bowl fifty three.
- 54:02Speaker 2: How many receiving yards did Edelman have.
- 54:04Speaker 6: In that game?
- 54:05Speaker 1: One and thirty seven? Close?
- 54:08Speaker 2: But no cigar, No, I knew it was Okawayan got
- 54:16Speaker 2: that one, So congratulations there.
- 54:19Speaker 1: I would have been eliminated in that because I would
- 54:20Speaker 1: have answered Dan Branch, yeah right, based on the way
- 54:24Speaker 1: the question started, he was the second wide receiver to
- 54:28Speaker 1: win Super Bowl MVP. I thought who was the first
- 54:31Speaker 1: was going to be the question, so I would have
- 54:34Speaker 1: been out.
- 54:35Speaker 9: Who do you think I had a better Super Bowl?
- 54:37Speaker 9: Deon Branch.
- 54:40Speaker 5: Comparable?
- 54:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd say Edelman because it came harder. No, I
- 54:49Speaker 2: mean it was a tougher game. Like what he did
- 54:51Speaker 2: came he had.
- 54:52Speaker 1: To work harder for it. I just please don't do
- 54:54Speaker 1: that time.
- 54:54Speaker 5: I always felt like some of those catches that Dion
- 54:57Speaker 5: Branch made, I don't know how he held on to them,
- 54:59Speaker 5: like he was just yeah, oh sure handed and absorbing contact.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I could make an argument either way. I just feel
- 55:05Speaker 1: like there was more offense in the and I thought
- 55:09Speaker 1: Branch could have won the m v P in Carolina
- 55:12Speaker 1: one as well. I think they got it right. I
- 55:16Speaker 1: think I would have gone Brady too, because you know me,
- 55:18Speaker 1: I have a biased you know, for the for the quarterback.
- 55:21Speaker 1: But that's a that's a good question. I think Branch
- 55:26Speaker 1: was more more impressive, but definitely make an argument either way.
- 55:30Speaker 9: I think the catches were tougher, but Julian Edelman was
- 55:33Speaker 9: uncoverable and like the routes that he was running, just
- 55:36Speaker 9: the separation and.
- 55:37Speaker 1: You could give him more points for really being the
- 55:41Speaker 1: entirety of the offense until until the fourth quarter when
- 55:44Speaker 1: Gronk took over. Yeah.
- 55:46Speaker 9: I remember when they were celebrating and Matthew Slater came
- 55:49Speaker 9: up to him and was like, did you win m
- 55:51Speaker 9: v P? And he was like yeah, and like Matthew's
- 55:53Speaker 9: like everybody kind of knew that. He was like, you know,
- 55:58Speaker 9: you're kind you were kind of air offense today, so
- 56:01Speaker 9: I imagine you probably want to be.
- 56:02Speaker 1: The Slater was upset because he didn't have any like
- 56:05Speaker 1: proper name to call Julian, like Julian's name Julian, you
- 56:09Speaker 1: know how he just refused to anybody by the name
- 56:12Speaker 1: they go by.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Maybe he added his middle name or something.
- 56:16Speaker 1: It was like with the J. C. Jackson, you called
- 56:18Speaker 1: Gerald this year.
- 56:19Speaker 4: I think called Hoyer Axel.
- 56:22Speaker 5: Yeah, got for everybody. Hey, did you see the Gronk
- 56:26Speaker 5: stole your joke?
- 56:27Speaker 1: My joke?
- 56:27Speaker 5: Yeah, they did it the social media thing. It was
- 56:30Speaker 5: we're professional athletes, and one of Gronk's was, we're a
- 56:32Speaker 5: professional athlete for what is it retired? We're former professional athletes.
- 56:35Speaker 5: Of course we're going to make a joke about c
- 56:37Speaker 5: c TE when we can't remember something. I was like, Hey,
- 56:39Speaker 5: that's that's Ball's joke.
- 56:41Speaker 1: That is true.
- 56:41Speaker 5: They were good. They're funny.
- 56:42Speaker 4: That was funny. Part two. They could put some clothes
- 56:45Speaker 4: on like their their thirst trap in hardcore to maintain
- 56:48Speaker 4: some relevancy.
- 56:48Speaker 1: But all right, obviously worked on you. I was thinking,
- 56:57Speaker 1: the phone lines are lit up like a Christmas So
- 57:01Speaker 1: let's get to that. We'll start with Nathan in Ohio.
- 57:05Speaker 1: What's up, Nathan?
- 57:07Speaker 20: Hey, how's it going?
- 57:08Speaker 6: Guys?
- 57:10Speaker 20: I just want to say thank you to Evan because
- 57:12Speaker 20: he's the one who got me into a podcast listening
- 57:15Speaker 20: in the first place, along with Alex bart On, Patriots beat,
- 57:18Speaker 20: so I would have never discovered you guys without him.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you a lot of compliments today I'm flattered.
- 57:24Speaker 20: And for my question, I want to say, would you
- 57:27Speaker 20: guys entertain the Patriots doing something like taking a quarterback
- 57:30Speaker 20: at three and then moving up like the Texas into
- 57:33Speaker 20: like five or six, giving up future capital to get
- 57:36Speaker 20: a tackle. That way, you get two positions solidified for
- 57:39Speaker 20: the future.
- 57:40Speaker 9: Well, so the Texans had the twelfth overall pick in
- 57:43Speaker 9: the draft from a previous trade. So when these things
- 57:47Speaker 9: have like get thrown out there, we have to remember
- 57:49Speaker 9: the Texas did in trade up from thirty four to five.
- 57:53Speaker 9: They traded up from twelve to five, so it's it's
- 57:56Speaker 9: a much different different situation.
- 58:00Speaker 1: All right, Does that answer your question? Yeah?
- 58:04Speaker 5: All right, thanks Nathan. I mean I just say generally,
- 58:07Speaker 5: and I think this will be like a topic we
- 58:08Speaker 5: talk about it, like like pushing all the chips into
- 58:11Speaker 5: the middle of the table this year. It doesn't really
- 58:12Speaker 5: silly the year to do that, Like you need your picks,
- 58:15Speaker 5: you need to hit them, you need to you know,
- 58:16Speaker 5: not just like let's just get you guys and we'll
- 58:19Speaker 5: be back on track. Like I I think you need
- 58:21Speaker 5: all these draft picks and if anything, and.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I am intrigued by that, you know, and I hate
- 58:25Speaker 1: trading down, but I think in a year like this
- 58:27Speaker 1: it might make some sense. But I think Evan did
- 58:29Speaker 1: a good job of sort of explaining. I think there's
- 58:32Speaker 1: this notion that if you trade down from three, that's
- 58:37Speaker 1: gonna let you take like three guys in the first round.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Like you know, you're gonna switch spots with whoever you
- 58:41Speaker 1: trade with and probably add like depending on how far
- 58:45Speaker 1: the team goes, you know, you'll probably add like a
- 58:48Speaker 1: future one or future too, you know, if you if
- 58:51Speaker 1: it's just a little move, you know you're going from
- 58:53Speaker 1: three to six, you're probably adding a second round pick
- 58:56Speaker 1: and maybe a future second round pick or something like that.
- 58:58Speaker 5: Yeah, which is which sounds great to me.
- 59:00Speaker 1: No, no, no, I'm not telling you I wouldn't do it.
- 59:02Speaker 1: But I think that people think, well, that way you
- 59:04Speaker 1: can get instead of getting Jade and Daniels, you can
- 59:07Speaker 1: get Marvin Harrison Junior and Joe Walt. Like, it's not
- 59:10Speaker 1: gonna work that way. You're not gonna get two top
- 59:12Speaker 1: ten picks out right, because I not to pick on
- 59:15Speaker 1: the collar, but now I'm not picking on the caller.
- 59:17Speaker 9: I think people for the Texans had the Browns pick
- 59:20Speaker 9: last year because of the Deshaun Watson trade, so they
- 59:23Speaker 9: had the twelfth, They had the second overall pick and
- 59:26Speaker 9: the twelfth overall pick, so they traded up from twelve,
- 59:30Speaker 9: which is a much different conversation than trading up from
- 59:33Speaker 9: thirty four. So, like Paul is saying, you can't do
- 59:35Speaker 9: You're not gonna get both of those, but.
- 59:37Speaker 1: You can still make a good trade. I'm not telling
- 59:39Speaker 1: you like forget the trade down.
- 59:41Speaker 9: No, you could still make a good trade if you're
- 59:43Speaker 9: not sold on one of these quarterbacks. And it actually
- 59:45Speaker 9: makes sense to trade down.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And I talked about this a little on Tuesday. Yeah,
- 59:50Speaker 1: the further you go down the quarterback tree, the less
- 59:54Speaker 1: the quarterback generally is. But there that's not necessarily the
- 59:57Speaker 1: case at tackle, and it's definitely not the case a
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: wide receiver. Now, you might have a special one in
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Harrison this year, and I'll grant you that he might
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: be a little bit different, but there are a lot
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: of good wide receivers taken as you go down the list,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Like the third, fourth, fifth wide receiver is a lot
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: better than the third, fourth or fifth quarterback.
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: Especially a lot better. Yeah, and this class is loaded.
- 1:00:20Speaker 9: And we were talking about this on Catch twenty two.
- 1:00:22Speaker 9: And you look really around the playoffs this year, and
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: this is one of those years where the diva bona
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: fide number one wide receiver really wasn't what carried teams.
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: You know.
- 1:00:34Speaker 9: You look at teams like Detroit that those guys are
- 1:00:36Speaker 9: all Day two picks, the Porta Monroe, Saint Brown. You
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: look at the Niners like Brandon Ayuka is their highest
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: drafted pick in house and he was like late first round,
- 1:00:46Speaker 9: not not a top ten type of guy. So there's
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: definitely a lot of evidence right now that you can
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: build it a different way without you know, being Joe
- 1:00:55Speaker 9: Burrow and Jamar Chase or Patrick Mahomes and Tyree Kill.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: The poster boy for oh, you can't draft a you know,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: receiver without having you know, the pieces around him is
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson. But the Jets thought they were going to
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: have Aaron Rodgers throwing to him.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: That's who I know Wilson.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: But if they had, if if Rogers had been the quarterback,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: that would have been a great pick when they picked him.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: You know, like what I'm saying is they picked him
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: with Zack Wilson. I understand that. But they thought Zack
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Wilson was going to be good. It wasn't.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Then they got Aaron Rodgers. We wouldn't be talking about
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Garrett Wilson being a bad pick if Aaron.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I don't think Garret Wilson was a bad pick. I'm
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: saying that's an example of you knocked it out of
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: the park and it doesn't help you win unless you
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: have a correct guy to throw to it.
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I'm not telling you no, don't take, but I'm saying,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: if you take Marvin Harrison now and you don't get
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: the quarterback till next year, all of a sudden, Marvin
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Harrison becomes a good pick, you know, Yeah, And then
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: the argument against it is if you waste a year
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: of that, then you end up getting into the high
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: price category if he hit like I don't think you
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: could do any better with a pick as Garrett Wilson.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I think he had two really really good years offensive
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: the year. So now if you're the Jets and you
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: get Rogers next year, and so now you have your quarterbacks, right,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: So now that's three years in he continues to be
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: really good. Now do you have one hundred and twenty
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: million to pay him? Well, because that's coming right, like
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: you're gonna pick up his fifty year option. That's only
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: gonna piss him off. You know how the receivers are.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: You know how those receivers are Mike, especially right you
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: watched him drop that bomb the other day. I didn't
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: know who was more excited. I told you you.
- 1:02:41Speaker 9: That's a real thing, is trying to get his one
- 1:02:44Speaker 9: way ticket it down.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: But I do think that that that's like part of
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: the at that position, that's got to be part of
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: your thinking. Those guys are high priced, Yeah, they try
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to clean it up. They measure themselves against other receivers
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: by the the check, the paycheck. That's what that's respect
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: for that position is how much you're paying me.
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: I would also say, though, that there is an the
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: flip side of that is that it's cost control to draft, right,
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: So I get you know, but if I have.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: A great if I have a great quarterback, I'm fine
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: with the cost control for the same reason. Like they
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: took Burrow and Higgins at the same time, Yeah, and
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Chase no, But like the first the same draft was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Burrow one. Higgins was the first pick of the second round. Yeah,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: and then they took so I have these two guys
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: and then they double up by getting Jamar Chase. Yeah,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: like that that works, but now you've got to figure
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: out how to pay him. But at least you got
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: five years of production, right, not two? And Garret Wilson's case.
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: And Garret Wilson's a great example, because that's always been
- 1:03:44Speaker 9: my thing is like, all right, so if you take
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: Marvin Harrison Junior this year and then let's just for
- 1:03:49Speaker 9: argument's sake, you got Schador in here next year, Chador
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: Chador is ready to like take the continue to the
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: promised land? What in two years? Three years after they
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: draft him. So now you're in your four of Marvin
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: Harrison junior and now you're hitting your window, which is
- 1:04:05Speaker 9: when Marvin Harrison Junior starts to get expensive.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Right, And that's my point, yeah, Fred, And and like,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I don't think that we'll look at it if they
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: took Marvin Harrison this year at three, I don't think
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: that we would look at and say, Wow, what a bust. No,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I don't think that. I think he's good and I
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: think he would be a good player. The question I
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: would have is how much does he help you if
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: you don't have the The other part answered, Dylan's a Maine.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: What's up, Dylan? Hello?
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: Hello, Hello, Jerry, Hey, I'm here.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right, all right.
- 1:04:39Speaker 21: So what's the deal with the International Player Pathway Program?
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: What do you mean? Like, how does it work?
- 1:04:47Speaker 21: Yeah, there's a player.
- 1:04:48Speaker 22: From Wales that just declared for it, and he's a
- 1:04:51Speaker 22: he'd be a very good wide receiver.
- 1:04:53Speaker 14: Okay, I think we should.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I don't know how.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So I mean I think they they go, they
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: go to the Combine and you know, any team that
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: takes that person from Wales, it's an exemption on their roster.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Uh so that but they have to keep them on
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: the roster for I think two years. But yeah, he
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: won't count against the fifty three for whichever team takes.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: That's not true. No, he doesn't count against the ninety man.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: It doesn't count. Okay, it doesn't count against the ninety. Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 9: If he's on, like Yakob Johnson counted against the fifty
- 1:05:26Speaker 9: three man rocks.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: You keep them, then he counts. Yeah, but you get
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: an extra guy at training camp if if you go
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: through that.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Pro and then once you I think you have to
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: keep them for two years, Is that right?
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I don't think you don't think so? No, okay, I
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:05:38Speaker 9: I'm not sure about that detail. But it used to
- 1:05:41Speaker 9: I don't know if it's new now, because it used
- 1:05:43Speaker 9: to like almost get it. The player was like assigned
- 1:05:45Speaker 9: to you, right like it was like a group of.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: That's how I understood it, But I don't know that
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: it wasn't like.
- 1:05:50Speaker 9: The player had free agency to go and sign anywhere.
- 1:05:52Speaker 9: But I don't know if they've changed that rule.
- 1:05:55Speaker 16: Keep an eye he's one of the one of the
- 1:05:58Speaker 16: better wingers for Wells rugby and he just declared the
- 1:06:01Speaker 16: other week, So okay, keep an eye out for it.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: But all right, all right, sounds good. Thanks. The Bruins
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: can sign them. They need, they need secondary scoring. They
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: always okay, although they have been doing pretty well with
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: secondary scoring. I feel like I feel like is okay.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: I don't really think anything of the rest of them,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Like the Heinen is not going to have three pucks
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: to flect off his skates into.
- 1:06:28Speaker 9: I'm more worried about their frontline guys.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Honestly, yeah, like they Charlie Cole is the first talk
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: about hockey and your.
- 1:06:34Speaker 9: First line center, Charlie Coyle, he's probably I love Charlie
- 1:06:39Speaker 9: at cal Will you.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Get these people back on track. I need to take care,
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: take care of Paul and Evan. They want to talk
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: about hockey and this is the Patriots.
- 1:06:50Speaker 23: Oh okay, guys, even though I love hockey, you gotta off.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, Okay, I'm sorry, scolded.
- 1:06:59Speaker 23: You know out the reality here what we're talking about. Hey, guys,
- 1:07:06Speaker 23: I'm trying to get rid of the sambad owl on
- 1:07:09Speaker 23: my tree. He keeps hayd in my cow.
- 1:07:12Speaker 21: It is cool.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: I want to shoot him. Oh, you can't shoot an
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: owl in trouble.
- 1:07:19Speaker 20: He's obtaint in my butt.
- 1:07:22Speaker 23: Anyway, That was the cold leadway. But Christus, oh, sir,
- 1:07:33Speaker 23: have something to do with Mayo not wanting to make
- 1:07:40Speaker 23: decisions on the offensive side of the ball because he's
- 1:07:46Speaker 23: not used to doing it that way, and he doesn't
- 1:07:50Speaker 23: want to have to make the choice about keeping Mac.
- 1:07:57Speaker 20: Because Max was so well.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Spirit listen, if you want to, if you want to
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: take that burden of the Mac decision off your shoulders,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: hire an O C and let that person make the decision,
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: Or hire a general manager, which we're alerted to apparently.
- 1:08:12Speaker 9: I think that this is like a factor in the
- 1:08:14Speaker 9: fact that these OC candidates these who's making the personnel
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: decisions in this building right now? And do I trust
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: that guy that's.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: Doing who liked Michael Jordan's Who's like we got to
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: get Michael Jordan?
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: According to uh Girodd, he said he is.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: He's making the personnel decisions.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: He says he's in charge right all the like people.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: I think somebody asked some recently. It was in the EE,
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I like, with all these interviews and everything that's going on,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: who's making the decision?
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: He said, it's all me? I miss God, he said
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: something like that. Maybe, so I did not catch that somebody,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: but I didn't listen to the somebody can check me
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: on that. So it just then give me my Flowers.
- 1:08:52Speaker 23: Is going to let the OC bring in his own people?
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I would think so, because I think that's one of
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: the he's his wife Bill O'Brien didn't stay because he
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: wasn't allowed to.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: There's been some speculation on well, thanks Michelle. That's one
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: reason the speculation that I've seen on bringing in guys
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: is on defense that I that some of these guys
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: that they're interviewing for defensive coordinator might actually be more
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: position coach related. If Covington is the guy, there's one
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: guy that had some ties to Covington from college. Forget
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: which one dodges from the sounds sounds right, Yeah, the
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: linebackers coach from New Orleans. I think there's been some
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: speculation that that could be. Kind of like last year
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: when they had Adrian Kleman for ostensibly an offensive coordinator
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: spot and he wound up being I kind.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: Of felt that way about Kaylee's someone of the Klee
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: is he really ready to be an offensive coordinator with
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: the you know, the system he just came from with
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: with Sean McVay. I mean, it seems more like, let's
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: bring some familiarity. He's not probably ready yet, Like maybe
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: Zach Robbins is ready, but he maybe, you know, you
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: bring them as a package deal. Kind of.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:57Speaker 9: I think Christian Parker from the Broncos also is or
- 1:10:00Speaker 9: their secondary coach or dv's coach, and like I look
- 1:10:02Speaker 9: at that and he's like, all right, if you're gonna
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: lose Brian and Mike Pellegrino, because maybe they go with
- 1:10:06Speaker 9: Bill somewhere then now you have it. These are you
- 1:10:10Speaker 9: know him, Tim Lubica Hodges from the Saints. These guys
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: are all great candidates to be position coaches.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: On it, and I read Bert Breer earlier in the
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: week sort of speculated that that some of these might
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: be with a with an eye toward filling out the staff. Yeah,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: it makes sense defensively. I haven't heard any of that offensively,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: but Kaylee would be an example.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Chad in Atlanta writes in what are the Chances that
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: they don't actually hire a GM, and Mayo ends up
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: being the pseudo GM, kind of like how Bill was.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: He wasn't pseudo, he was the GM. Anyway.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Kraft did say in his solo press conference that he
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: didn't like the idea of having one person choose players
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: for someone else because he thought there may end up
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: being discoursed in finger pointing. However, he also said that
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Bill had earned that role. So I'm kind of confused
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: at this point. Growing wealth smells too much like Patricia
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: in Judge.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I don't like it. Well, I wouldn't say that.
- 1:11:01Speaker 9: I just think that there's nobody in charge right now
- 1:11:05Speaker 9: that we know of that it has final say on
- 1:11:07Speaker 9: personnel and like, I just think that there's a confidence
- 1:11:11Speaker 9: level of if you're getting hired as an offensive coordinator
- 1:11:15Speaker 9: and you're going to a staff that you know, the Eagles,
- 1:11:18Speaker 9: for example, like you're going to building with Howie Roseman
- 1:11:22Speaker 9: running personnel, that you can have a lot of confidence
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: in that Howie Roseman's going to draft good players and
- 1:11:27Speaker 9: that they're going to have good talent on the offensive
- 1:11:29Speaker 9: side of the ball.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I just did.
- 1:11:31Speaker 9: Patriots just don't have that right now in my opinion.
- 1:11:34Speaker 9: And I think that that when you have a GM,
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: it's like kind of having like one voice, right we
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: have one This is our message, this is what we're about,
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: this is what we're trying to build here, and right
- 1:11:42Speaker 9: now it feels like is that Gerrod Like I guess
- 1:11:44Speaker 9: like that's just Girod trying to relay that message to
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: these people.
- 1:11:48Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: DARPin in New York City says, great job as always,
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: particularly this weird for us younger spoiled Patriots fans four
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: to thirteen year four and thirteen year I could always
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: depend on the PU to say it as it is.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: One comment and one question comment. When you talked about
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: how ownership might have a hand in Josh and Grod.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Being exposed to more of Bill's work, he got me
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: thinking why Bill never actively did that with someone as
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: his successor, And then it occurred to me he did
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: do that with Matt Patricia. Patricia came back after his
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Lions stint and basically did Ernie Adams's job, which I'm
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: sure holds great importance for Bill. He even reportedly handed
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: out and even negotiated contracts. Then Bill puts him in
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: charge of the offense taking it all. It seems pretty
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: clear Patricia was and is Bill's chosen successor. Not relevant anymore,
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: but still interesting. It was that guy who was basically
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: a disaster most places he coached. I disagree. I don't
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: think Bill did that with the idea that he was
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: going to be a successor, because Bill knew that he
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: wasn't picking his successor.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: We've talked about it before. Whose decision was it?
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: The crafts right? So no, he just it was a
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: comfort level. I think he believed in Patricia. I think
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: he thought he was smart and he could do a
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: bunch of different things.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Patricia was down bad after the Lions.
- 1:13:07Speaker 10: To that stint.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Well, yeah, threats he's down. Yeah, I know.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: The question if Bill is left standing when the music stops.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: Should you consider hiring the people who reportedly left with him?
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: My instinct would be no, because I would question their
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: commitment to the Patriots. But I'm very interested to know
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: what the people reportedly left with him. Nobody left yet,
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: they're all in limbo.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, Now, I don't think that there's some of
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: some of those guys. I don't think we'll be back,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: but they're not going to be back no matter what,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: like Joe, Judge cam Accord. Yeah, like, I don't think
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: those guys are going to mean.
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: I like it in terms of taking Bill's guys back,
- 1:13:45Speaker 9: like I would take the Belichicks and Mike Pelagrino back,
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: Like I think that's that's different though, Like you look
- 1:13:52Speaker 9: at guys like Judge that that's a true Bill loyalist,
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: Like you can't you can't have him here.
- 1:13:57Speaker 17: Uh and uh.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: In terms of Aldred saying hello to uh, as Tony
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: from Virginia says, in the military customs and courtesy, it
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: dictates you always address the women or woman in the
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: room or formation first.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: So there you go. Okay, damn right, what about equality?
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: I'm a chivalry chivalry? Yeah, Poor Jess you know, I'll
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: take this chivalry.
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: I'm not watching joelt again tonight. I mean I'm not
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: doing that.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: I'm old school. I'll take that.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: Alex in Raleigh, North Carolina just want to say that
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: all the haters can suck a golf ball through a
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: garden hose. The one podcast was awesome and three will
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: also be even better. Being six years old for one,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: I don't remember where I was exactly for it, and
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: being eight for three of these podcasts are the best
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: way to explain it all again from a different perspective.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Haters will always be there f them agreed.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: I'm with Paul and Evan. Give us the new coordinator
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: on offense, and do not retread and OC. Please we
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: need the update of this to this decade of offenses.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Please don't say modern offense.
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: I'll get them all triggered to.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Weekend fighting with people on Twitter after this.
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: So why do you guys just have to stay off
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: it Just it feels so up in the air on
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: the offensive side of the ball, and it's like even
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: when the defense it's like Steve Bryan Pellegrino, they can calm,
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: they can go like you know, you think they'll be
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: all right. It seems like coming thing is going to stay.
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: But I just I have no idea on the offensive
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: side of the ball. I mean, Troy Brown is going
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: to be down there coaching at the Senior Bowl?
- 1:15:26Speaker 18: Is he back?
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: And you know what if they hire Zach Robinson to
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: come in, Like, is Troy Brown going to teach the
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: receivers how to you know what them?
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: They are?
- 1:15:34Speaker 8: Like?
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: There's a lot of movie parts.
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: Troy Brown at the Senior Bowl thing is kind of weird,
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: isn't it? Like is he going to be down there
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: like representing the Patriots.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Like I just.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Down there representing himself?
- 1:15:45Speaker 8: You know me?
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: How far ahead does that stuff get planned?
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Senior Bowl stuff? He's going to be the coaches like
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: after the season, I.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: Mean probably yeah, because so they know what teams are available.
- 1:15:54Speaker 21: Ye.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I'm not, by the way, against a retread off it's
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: a coordinator. I just don't want our retreads. I want
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: to change our offense and I don't want to much.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: You guys know that I have a great relationship with him.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: And if you told me that he has an extensive
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: background in that system, the Rams, you know, McVeigh or whatever.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: I don't know how. I don't know how he could.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: But if you told me that, I wouldn't be against
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: him running that offense. But I don't think he's running
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: that offense. There's other guys that are going to be
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: available that have coordinator experience that I wouldn't mind taking
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: a shot. Would you consider Nick Retread? Yeah? Pretty much. Yeah.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Now, so he made a lateral move to go.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: To because he wasn't considered offensive coordinator. How does he
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: look tight pants?
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Really good?
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Okay, so he could do it. Yeah, Now I wouldn't
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: be plays. I wouldn't be opposed to him, only because
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: at least he has like that full season of immersion
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: in that.
- 1:16:58Speaker 9: Because I heard Devin McCory Aready talking on one of
- 1:17:01Speaker 9: the million shows that Devin does nowadays, and he just
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: mentioned that he went out to LA for the playoff game,
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: you know, could talk to those guys, and he talked
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: to Kelly for a while, and Kelly said that, you know,
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: they do a lot of the same things fundamentally, like
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: they're coaching a lot of the same fundamentals with the RAMS,
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: but they just deliver it differently. And I think he
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: really enjoyed like the different experience of coaching.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Mike and Charlotte says, am I the only one who
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: thinks Grad is not ready for this job. I feel
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: like there was a two year succession plan in place
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: to get him ready and get Bill to retirement, but
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: when the season did not go as plan, Robert cave
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: to public pressure and replaced Bill with.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: A guy who's not ready.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: I just don't think handing the keys to a seven
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: billion dollar franchise to someone who's never even been a
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: coordinator is very good business.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: No, I mean, I think that's fair. I mean, I
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: think that's what we're all wondering, and it's it's coming
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: out now in these details of how he's putting the
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: staff together. And I think, you know, for me, I
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: was initially encouraged by some of the different people that
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: he's you know, interviewing it. So it shows that you know,
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: they're they're expanding out a little bit and breaking this
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: kind of cycle of just the same kind of thing.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: But look, there's no question no one's gonna sit here
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: and he's totally ready. Like I don't know, but that's like,
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: you know, part of what this is with Jira Mao
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: and clearly everything that the craft said about him, he's
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: earned this opportunity in their eyes and that's all the matters.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: So I don't know. I think when we were getting
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: into this like post bill stuff, it kind of feeled
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: to me like, no matter who it was, it's a
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: it's a few year guy and unless it's unless he's
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: really special, that that might be it. You know, like
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: you're gonna get on this cycle of what most teams
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: are and maybe Jiromeo's special, but you know, it's hard
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: to sit here and tell you yes, he definitely is.
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: I don't know. That's what we're gonna have to watch.
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: Yeah, Like I don't think he's ready for it, but
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: I don't think that it's because he's not capable of
- 1:18:50Speaker 9: doing it. I just in the I would just the
- 1:18:52Speaker 9: pushback that I keep having is like he has no
- 1:18:55Speaker 9: adults in the room with him. There's nobody in there
- 1:18:57Speaker 9: that has been a general manager, that's been aheat head
- 1:19:00Speaker 9: coach before. You know Antonio Pierce and with the Raiders,
- 1:19:03Speaker 9: he has Tom Coughlin as like a senior advisor to
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: the head coach. That's like holding his hand through all
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: of these things that he's doing for the first time,
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: Like who's doing that right now?
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: For jirod Mayo, And that's not on Girod Mayo. That's
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: that's on the organization.
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: Like we have plenty of people that have come through
- 1:19:22Speaker 9: this building that can do that for him, Like there's
- 1:19:24Speaker 9: plenty of Scott Pioli's and Thomas de Mittrov's and all
- 1:19:27Speaker 9: these different people, Like call up one of these people
- 1:19:30Speaker 9: and have them come back and help him through this,
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: because it's not fair to give a thirty seven year
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: old head coach. Now he's hiring coordinators, he's worried about
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: the draft, he's going down to the Senior Bowl next week,
- 1:19:42Speaker 9: Like what are we doing?
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: I think it would help I don't know if those
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: guys would help so much. But you know, like because Coauughlin,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: coach Pierce, like there's a connection there, you know, with
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: a former coach helping, you know, a former player. I
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: don't know if if a GM is not.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: The guy that was with the Falcons that work for
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: the league, oh, I forget his name.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Like he'd be good. But even if it's like a head.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: He understands like the whole ins and outs of the
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: business side plus the football side.
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: Even if it's a head coach, No, no type of
- 1:20:16Speaker 9: person like, even if it's not one of the GM
- 1:20:18Speaker 9: guys that have that have been around here, even if
- 1:20:20Speaker 9: it's a head coach, but I think a GM, it's
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: just John GM would help Mike Mike Lombardi, Like I'm
- 1:20:28Speaker 9: not a big fan of his either, but like these
- 1:20:30Speaker 9: types of people that have been around that have done
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: it before right now, Like I just feel like it's
- 1:20:35Speaker 9: all on a thirty seven year old first time head
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: coach to figure all this stuff.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Out, all the things that Evan says, I think it
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: would be valuable. I just would rather be a coach
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: than a GM now. I would like both, you know,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: and the whole thing with with Grow and Wolf like
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: people like I I understand these guys, you know, I
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: think people like, why are we sticking with these guys?
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: They're gonna they're going to continue to evaluate the ts.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: You need someone to evaluate the talent. I don't think
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: they're going to make the pick. I think that it
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: certainly sounds from what Fred said that Girod's going to
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: make the pick. I don't. I definitely missed that. But
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: you know, this whole collaborative process is going to be
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: interesting to see how it works out. I don't think
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: collaborative works. I really don't. I think at the end
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: of the day, someone has to be the adult in
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: the room and make a pick. I think point, I'm
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: not sure there are enough adults around Gid Mayo collaborate.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: Collaboration works in gathering the information and sharing ideas and opinions,
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: but at some point, somebody's going to make the final decision.
- 1:21:37Speaker 24: Right.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: I agree for it.
- 1:21:38Speaker 9: I just feel like the boss right now of this
- 1:21:41Speaker 9: football operations is a thirty seven year old who's never
- 1:21:44Speaker 9: been a head coach in the NFL before, who.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Has never coordinated a defense on his own before. He's
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: a leader of men. It's a fantastic coach.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: But by the way, job with the story on Patriot
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: dot com right now.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Evan, It's okay, what did I say? He said, Alex, Alex,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: good job. Evan interviewed some of the former linebackers on
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: the traits of uh Gerrod Mail, so you can read
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: down on Patriot dot com. Hey Tower, I did get
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: high Town, High Tower.
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: I read it in traffic.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: I got High Tower, and I don't know if you
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: guys know, Alex got caught in traffic this.
- 1:22:19Speaker 9: Morning after I did the interview with High Tower. I
- 1:22:21Speaker 9: was like, look, I got to ask you, you know,
- 1:22:24Speaker 9: do you want to come back and coach? Like are
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: you interested in coaching?
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: And uh?
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: And he was like yeah, you know, my wife like
- 1:22:31Speaker 9: has been on me about it, and you know, I'm
- 1:22:34Speaker 9: thinking about it, thinking about it.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: So I recruited him. I gave him my best pitch.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: I was like, it was tweeting eyeball emojis like.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Yeah last month.
- 1:22:42Speaker 9: I was like, this is what you should do it
- 1:22:44Speaker 9: like you'd be great at it. I know Gerard has
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: talked actually on the record about how he thinks High
- 1:22:48Speaker 9: Tower would be a great coach. They need a linebackers coach,
- 1:22:51Speaker 9: and you know it's a pretty good one.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: So okay.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Travis in West Virginia A little off topic here. Paul
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: seems to think that every time someone ashes Josh allenis
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: because of an ulterior motive, such as jealousy or hatred
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: of the Bills. I have no ulterior motive. My evaluation
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: is honest. When I watch him play, I feel there
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: is something missing from his game that leaves him far
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: short of the greatness you all think he possesses so far.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: I'm right, you're wrong. He hasn't accomplished, Didley Pooh. Also,
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I hate Coco Golf.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: He's right and you're wrong. I just would disagree that
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: he hasn't accomplished, Didley Pooh. I don't like. I'm not
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: one of these guys that just closes my eyes throughout
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: the whole year and then says, oh, by the way,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: who won the super Bowl? Yeah, oh, that's the one
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: that accomplished something. That's not how it works for me.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I watch games, I watch how games are won. I
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: watch how much a guy has to do with the
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: game that they won, and I give him credit for that.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: There's something some people don't unless it's a super Bowl,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: you give him credit for.
- 1:23:49Speaker 9: You know, there's one thing to say, this guy is
- 1:23:51Speaker 9: incredibly talented, and that's where I give him the credit. Right,
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: he's a incredibly talented player. But it is fair to
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: say that no, MVPs, he's never made a super Bowl,
- 1:24:02Speaker 9: he's never won a super Bowl. Like in terms of resume,
- 1:24:05Speaker 9: like he has an accomplished now, but watch it. Is
- 1:24:08Speaker 9: he a good quarterback?
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: That's what I just said. I said, just watch what
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: it takes for them to win games on a regular basis,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Not like you know, every single game, But on a
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: regular basis, he's watch the difference between winning and losing,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: and more often than not, when they win, he's the reason.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's there on a lot of games like
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: the Dallas game, where they just line up and run
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: it one hundred times and that's how they win the game.
- 1:24:29Speaker 9: And even their run game like it. In the second
- 1:24:32Speaker 9: half of the season, they started really running the ball well.
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: And it's because they let him runs because of him,
- 1:24:36Speaker 9: right Like, so all of a sudden, they're letting him
- 1:24:38Speaker 9: be a threat in the run game, and now the
- 1:24:40Speaker 9: run game works.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: People say the same stuff about Lamar Jackson. He's never
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: won anything. Just watch the games and see why the
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Ravens win consists.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: But the emailer is correct in his thought that whatever
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Patriots fans don't like it, Paul will take the opposite.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: No, that's why I change it to Lamar Jackson, who
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: doesn't really seem to get under anyone's skin. He will
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: this week if they happen to lose Brady. He like,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: this isn't about Brady, and it's always about Braid. See,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I'd like to think that our listeners are a little
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: bit more evolved than the average Patriot fan. I think
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: our listeners actually watch the games and don't just react
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: to what everything is written on Twitter.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: I just my question is, how do you fix Josh Allen?
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: Like that's like the question. I think he's fascinating because
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: you know it's you're right, like when they win, it's
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: because of him. And when he tries to do too
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: much sometimes though, like at the end of the game
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: last week, like you know, it's it doesn't happen, and
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: did you know it's not taking the underneath stuff like
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: you know, trying to force it down, being a little
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: bit moreggressed.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: But it's you know, when you're at least tied, that's situational.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: But it's the same stuff with them field goal range
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: make it, but he didn't even outside.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Of that specific game. Isn't the kind of the same
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: stuff with him? And when he loses, like that's.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: What it is him turnovers as a quarterback since twenty
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: twenty and played in the playoffs. Okay, but I'm saying
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: but but but but if you ask it, if you
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: ask everybody, the reason why Josh Allen is not quote
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: unquote that good, it's because he turns the ball over
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: too much. But he doesn't do that in the playoffs.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: But how would you fix them? Like, that's my question,
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: think be fixed point, But how would you put it
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: around him? Like he's got Stefan Diggs's wide receiver. They
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: went more to they went to a running game. They
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: said all last year, I got to be better about
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: my decision making.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: How much better could they played offensively in that game
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: than they did?
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: I know?
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: But every time they got the ball and then that's
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: what pass hands three times, and that's three times, it's
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: you're wrong, dudes, you're wrong. I'm not saying we're on
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: the same side, like that's what that's what I like.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I'm right. I'm just I'm giving
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: you my view. I don't think like you might be right.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: That might be the thing that's keeping them back. They
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: consistently getting shootouts with the best and I've never said
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: that Josh Allen's better than Patrick Mahomes. They consistently getting
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: shootouts with the best shootout quarterback who's ever done it.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: I think that they and they lose.
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: I think that McDermott's gotten them as far as he can.
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: I think McDermott has plateaued and he's not a big
- 1:27:12Speaker 9: game coach, and I think it's more.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Mostly on that that might think you can't get any redder.
- 1:27:17Speaker 9: I'm saying that he's you know, there's always the coach
- 1:27:20Speaker 9: before the coach for a lot of a lot of think.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I think that Sean McDermott I would much feel much
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: more comfortable questioning him, who's supposed to be a defensive
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: genius and yet cannot stop the other team in the playoffs,
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: yeah or ever or just like they don't even slow
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: them down.
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: The DeMar Hamblin fake punt on your own thirty yards.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: I mean, I think that one was a check which
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: wasn't his fault, but they didn't that's said after the game.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: They said after the game. I think he did exactly
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: what a good coach does, and he took responsibility for it,
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: much like Bill did with Patrick Chung back in twenty ten.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Maybe I think that's what good coaches do. I just
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: I look at that because I I think so. But
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I think it was an automatic check that happened on
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: the field that I think if McDermott had said, you
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: can't do that now, the impression that we only had
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: ten guys on the field I still.
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: Remember the clip of that of Bill talking a Chunk
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: as he came off the field, and it was just
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: like in one of those conversations we've all had with coaches,
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: like oh my god, he just walked away and you
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: can see Chunk kind of like palms up, Like I
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: think that, you know, with.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of truth to what Evan's
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: talking about with me. McDermott, Yeah, it reminds me.
- 1:28:28Speaker 9: And I hate saying this because as a as a
- 1:28:31Speaker 9: Green teamer, I hate saying this, but it reminds me
- 1:28:33Speaker 9: a lot of the Celtics right now, where it's like
- 1:28:36Speaker 9: either Jason Tatum is going to take them to the
- 1:28:38Speaker 9: Promised Land or he's not. And that's just like no
- 1:28:41Speaker 9: matter what you put around him, no matter what else
- 1:28:43Speaker 9: you do, and none of it's gonna matter unless he's ready.
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: To do it.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: He's gonna hit those shots at the end of Yeah.
- 1:28:48Speaker 9: H and Josh Allen the same way. When he's ready
- 1:28:51Speaker 9: to win a super Bowl, they'll win a Super Bowl.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:28:57Speaker 13: Hey, guys?
- 1:29:00Speaker 21: Loss of hearing a quick point? Are we putting Fred's
- 1:29:04Speaker 21: lips in the Patriot place once he sheds this mortal coil,
- 1:29:08Speaker 21: because I think we kind of, you know, need something
- 1:29:10Speaker 21: like that. My lips, but yeah, you kissed Brady dude.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Oh you you waited half an hour to say that.
- 1:29:20Speaker 21: I didn't think it'd be half an hour.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Fred, Oh, okay, you can just email that. I'll read it.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I'll read it with emphasis.
- 1:29:28Speaker 14: Anyway.
- 1:29:29Speaker 21: My question is it looks like we're gonna ask get
- 1:29:31Speaker 21: some new staff in. So are you going to be
- 1:29:34Speaker 21: more happy with a new like a brand a person
- 1:29:37Speaker 21: in the new to the role of GM, or a
- 1:29:40Speaker 21: person new to the role of offensive coordinator? Which one
- 1:29:42Speaker 21: do you think we should probably end up having?
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: I have to choose, like both, I have to choose. Yeah,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: I'd rather neither have.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: If you're gonna have a GM, I'd rather have somebody
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: new to the OC job than GM. You know, like, like,
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: am I really helping our thirty seven year old coach
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: by bringing in someone who's never been a GM before?
- 1:30:03Speaker 9: You know that's we already have two of those, like
- 1:30:05Speaker 9: we have Elliott Wolf and Macroe that can do that.
- 1:30:07Speaker 9: You don't like that, well, I don't. I just think
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: I need I need an adult. I need somebody that's
- 1:30:11Speaker 9: been and done it before.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: There's people here that have been like doing the work,
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: whereas there's just like no one on the offensive side
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: right now.
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: No, but like, would you rather have Elliott Wolf as
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: the GM and some new guys offensive coordinator? Yes? Or
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: a new GM who you love and Josh McDaniels is
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. I'd rather do the first one. Yeah, I
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: don't think it matters. I think they need both of them.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I think they're extremely important positions that need to play
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: in the game. You told me to choose, he did.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: I told you I think they're both. They're both. Really,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I'd rather have the I didn't yell at you know,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: see now you got them all wound up. I didn't
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: yell at them. This is all it's my fault. I
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: don't think either one is could all right, I know
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: it's the opposite. I think both of them are very important.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I know what you're saying. It just wasn't fair.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: I don't know there's something appealing about a young GM
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: who because I just think for these next couple of
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: years it's like, just find talent, identify talent, bring talent in,
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: build the talent on this team. I don't know where
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: they're going to go postseason, all that stuff in twenty
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: twenty four. But that that to me is like, you know,
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: and if Josh McDaniels is out there coordinating for a
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: little bit, fine, but you know, I just that's to me,
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: find the talent, like, get the guy who can find them.
- 1:31:28Speaker 9: The biggest issue with the team. The biggest issue with
- 1:31:30Speaker 9: the team is personnel. It's talent on the field, and
- 1:31:33Speaker 9: so they have to have the best possible people in
- 1:31:35Speaker 9: place to get the most talent.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: I would also say coaching was a problem last year too.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: It was, but I think that their roster talent was
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: the reason. Why give me I think give me a
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: good give me a good offensive line coach. Please, you know,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: I'll take stuff I never heard during the course of
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: the season. Please for two. Yeah, Raymond and Saint Louis.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: What's up, Raymond?
- 1:31:56Speaker 24: I was going I just had a quick question. I
- 1:31:59Speaker 24: know podcast is the biggest thing right now. How did
- 1:32:04Speaker 24: y'all pick a podcast back then? When you know podcast
- 1:32:07Speaker 24: wasn't you know? He looked at how did you pick
- 1:32:10Speaker 24: to get this idea across this?
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: Well, yes, mister Kersh, I'll tell you, Raymond, it's a
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: good question. You can take this class at Emerson.
- 1:32:18Speaker 8: No.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: I mean we were always you know, on the cutting
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: edge with the Patriots because of Jonathan Kraft and we
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: actually our first one was with the Revolution.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: We had the general manager of the team. We did
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: a call in.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: You know, back then, there was no iPods, so the
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: word podcast hadn't even been you know, labeled yet. So
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: this is back in like ninety nine, and we did uh.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: I forget what the name of it was, but it was,
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: you know, an ip.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: Based I think it was in the net or something
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:32:48Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: No, now that came after it was like GM's Corner
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: or something like that. So we would do that and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: then we would record it and then put it up
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: there for people to listen afterwards or download to. Well
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: they didn't really have downloads.
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: The Internet radio show.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Yeah, internet radio, they called it I P Radio, And
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: then we did the next year, we did the Patriots
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: in uh. We did two shows. We did the show
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: with Paul and me, but we also did one called
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Patriots Cyber uh Cyber Cafe, and our PR guy at
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: the time, Don Lowry, would sit in the lunch room
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: with the players and he would just pull players over
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: while they were eating their lunch and interview them. But great,
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: if we could do that now I do.
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: I can't even imagine, would be amazing if we.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Could set up.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: No, but that was you know, so we did that
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: back in the old stadium before the new stadium was
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: even then. We just we've been doing it ever since.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: And then of course, when you know, iPods came about,
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: then podcasts, then there was a way to download it
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: onto a device even before the even before the iPhone.
- 1:33:56Speaker 11: It was.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: That's why it was still the world's original broadcast.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: Right it was the eye pod that came before the
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: iPhone and you could download it and and all that stuff.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a good question, Raymond, thanks for asking.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: I'm always happy to back in the days when I
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: dropped my first F bomb the show. Yeah, yeah, that
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: was back. I was mad at We had an office
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: in Walpole because the stadium wasn't built yet.
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: Scott's Country, I heard.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: Yeah, no one gets under Paul skin like Brian.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: Moorey oh, even though even now he hasn't even been
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: here for like five years. Yeah, he's still mad at. Yeah. Uh,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Boston Cream is calling in. What's up? I want to
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: thank you Boston Cream that that honor was was really special.
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: What did he come what was the rating he came?
- 1:34:36Speaker 16: Paul came in with, uh, who knows you're perfect?
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Thank you, Boston Crean much appreciated.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: Fifty eight point three, he said. Paul came in as
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: like the highest ranked media member in Boston based on
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: his ranking.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Are you okay?
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: I'm fine. I'm not I'm not saying yeah.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Who was Uh? Who was polled in the was it Boston?
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: Extensive research I gather right Boston, he consulted with PF
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: all the donuts checked in.
- 1:35:08Speaker 22: Unfortunately, the analytics information isn't public at this point, but
- 1:35:13Speaker 22: it has been triple source.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: It's a proprietary all right, will be Will you be
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: presenting at the Sloan Sports Analytics Convention.
- 1:35:26Speaker 22: I don't really care to discuss the future of analytics here,
- 1:35:31Speaker 22: but I'm trying to spearheaded. Okay, the reason I called in, guys,
- 1:35:37Speaker 22: it's an off season show.
- 1:35:38Speaker 24: This is way too much football.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: There are some things happening here. It's not your typical
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: off season here with the Patriots.
- 1:35:47Speaker 22: I may allow for that.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Listen, Bill Belichick told us we have to talk about it.
- 1:35:54Speaker 22: Putting to a super Bowl party. The first round, pick
- 1:35:57Speaker 22: on the food. What's the first item.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: Hit in the at a super Bowl party?
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: Buffalo chicken chicken dip.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: We just did that, Buffalo chicken dip. We just became
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: best friends.
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: I could go taco dip, which isn't the same. Family,
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: got like a cream cheese based and some salt sense and.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: You're starting, you start, So you're all starting with the zips.
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: The chicken dip because it's a girl meal too.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: Though it's like the tenderloin sliders in Arizona. Wow, that's
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: very specific.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Now if it's if it's a might have had a dozen,
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: it's a toity toity party.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: Shrimp cocktail or bacon right bacon scullps solid choice, Yeah yeah, classy,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: first budget Bakon covers up the sculls.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: Good wings, mac and cheese, buffalo chicken.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: Wings wings questionable at that little mess standing. What about you?
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: What's hitting your plate? First?
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: Donuts?
- 1:36:56Speaker 22: Friends off guys, Okay, he speaks.
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: His own language.
- 1:37:03Speaker 9: Just makes a mean buffalo chicken dip though, real good.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: Well, it's about time compliments or something. You know. What
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: else is very good? Crab dip had crab good stuff.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: You're not, you're not, you don't know from the crab
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: crab cakes. I had crab cakes, and I'm not a
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: big seafood, but they were really good, really good crabs.
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Let's go to Matt and Virginia Beach.
- 1:37:28Speaker 16: Hey, Matt, Hey, how y'all doing today? Okay, just that's
- 1:37:35Speaker 16: something I wanted to touch on real quick. Just reading
- 1:37:39Speaker 16: through fan blogs and whatnot, I noticed like a lot
- 1:37:42Speaker 16: of people getting their bridges all twisted up that we
- 1:37:44Speaker 16: haven't named a general manager yet. It's actually it's given
- 1:37:46Speaker 16: me a sense of comfort that the Patriots seemed to
- 1:37:49Speaker 16: be taking their time and really identifying who they want
- 1:37:53Speaker 16: as a part of this new regime. I really don't
- 1:37:57Speaker 16: care so much who is, just what their philosophy and
- 1:38:00Speaker 16: like making sure it aligns with Coach Mayo and what
- 1:38:03Speaker 16: he's trying to do and what he's trying to bring
- 1:38:05Speaker 16: to the table. One thing I love about Coach Mayo
- 1:38:09Speaker 16: what he said that the modern player they want to
- 1:38:12Speaker 16: know why they're asked to do things. It's so true.
- 1:38:16Speaker 16: Just for a little context, I'm in a leadership position
- 1:38:19Speaker 16: in the US Navy and you create service beyond true
- 1:38:23Speaker 16: that the new crop of kids coming in, they want
- 1:38:25Speaker 16: to know why they're asked to be doing things. In
- 1:38:28Speaker 16: the military, even in the military, is the thing you
- 1:38:31Speaker 16: wouldn't think. You think we would just follow orders and go.
- 1:38:34Speaker 16: And while that is definitely still a thing, you know,
- 1:38:36Speaker 16: good order and discipline is still a thing. A lot
- 1:38:39Speaker 16: of the kids they want to know why they're being
- 1:38:41Speaker 16: asked to do things, and I've had to adapt my
- 1:38:43Speaker 16: leadership style to that over the years. Where the whole
- 1:38:47Speaker 16: thing going back to collaboration, it works in the military
- 1:38:50Speaker 16: as well, where you can explain, Okay, this is the mission,
- 1:38:53Speaker 16: this is how we need to execute the mission. What
- 1:38:55Speaker 16: are the ways we can best execute this mission to
- 1:38:58Speaker 16: make sure that we have success. So it works for
- 1:39:02Speaker 16: us here in the military, and I think it could
- 1:39:04Speaker 16: work as well for the patriots as far as collaboration
- 1:39:06Speaker 16: is concerned. I like a lot of the things that
- 1:39:08Speaker 16: Coach Mayo is saying, Okay, so just hope whoever we
- 1:39:11Speaker 16: bring in like, I hope that aligns with what he's
- 1:39:14Speaker 16: trying to bring to the table. I think we kind
- 1:39:17Speaker 16: of get desensitized a little bit, especially us as fans.
- 1:39:21Speaker 16: You know, if you make it to the NFL level,
- 1:39:23Speaker 16: in any capacity, Like you're not just a dope sitting
- 1:39:27Speaker 16: in your office licking the windows, like you're a smart person. Yeah,
- 1:39:30Speaker 16: I'm just it's given me a sense of comfort that
- 1:39:32Speaker 16: they're taking their time and really trying to identify the
- 1:39:35Speaker 16: best people. And that's really all I got.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: So, Matt, Matt, hold on a sec hold on before
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: you go. I just what what brings you the confidence
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: that they're looking for somebody.
- 1:39:45Speaker 16: I think just the fact that they haven't jumped out
- 1:39:48Speaker 16: and named anybody yet, because I mean, that's.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: No I know, but what if that's what that that's
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: by design, this is the plan they're going to go forward,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: and like Elliot Wolf is going to be just the guy,
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: Like I don't, Yeah, I think they need a guy.
- 1:40:04Speaker 16: Elliott Wolf is the guy if he's going to be
- 1:40:07Speaker 16: the one, because ultimately there does I agree, there does
- 1:40:09Speaker 16: have to be a final decision maker. You can't just
- 1:40:11Speaker 16: go around the table over and over and over and
- 1:40:14Speaker 16: just spin your wheels. And if Elliott Wolf is that
- 1:40:17Speaker 16: guy and they deem him worthy of that position, I
- 1:40:20Speaker 16: mean I'm all for naming him general manager whatever you
- 1:40:23Speaker 16: want to call it.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they need to do better. But that's me.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: I think they need to find a guy. Thanks, Matt,
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: appreciate it. You're not looking. I don't think they're The
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: bigger question that I had for Matt was what makes
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: you think they're looking? Yeah, I don't think they're looking.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: I think that that this is what they're going to do,
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: this collaborative thing, this is what we're doing now. Well,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: what if they really like, let's just say it's wolf
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: and I think they would have said it. No, maybe they.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: Want to keep things going until after the draft, and
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: once the draft is over they will say it.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: But I don't have any doubt that that could happen.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: But I wanted to. I want to talk to people.
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: I don't understand why we're closing ourselves off to having
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: people that are only here Like, that's what I don't get. Yeah,
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: I also think I think the Navy they're the most
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: cutting edge branch. I couldn't agree with you more. That's
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: why I've heard.
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: I just imagine, like Millennial Army liked, we got to
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: take out that encampment out there.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Why I don't mind doing it? No, No, why they're
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: shooting right now?
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: But you need to be like I know, like firsthand
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: not that I was in the Navy, but what like
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: I have like a learning thing and like algebra, I
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: couldn't get it so like and not for a lack
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: of trying. But when I finally did get it and
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: I understood the what was behind it, I could teach
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: it because I thoroughly understood it. And I think there
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: is something to understanding that you know what we're doing.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: But why and how you want to help teach you? Yeah?
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: No, I'm serious and like and so I like to
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: this day, like I never I usually don't get things
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: the first time around.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: It takes me a little bit longer, but once I
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: get it, I really get it.
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: How did you push through that frustration as a kid,
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: because I'm experiencing that as a parent right now where
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: my you know, if it doesn't come easily to them
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: in a variety of things, sports, academics, it doesn't come easy.
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: I can't get it. I'm stupid. I'm not gonna do that.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: That's also our generation. I'm sorry.
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: Yeah, Like we like to do things that are easy
- 1:42:20Speaker 9: to us, right the second that you feel something that's
- 1:42:23Speaker 9: like super challenging to you. That's what I think a
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: lot of like younger players in the league struggle with
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: this because they've been so good at football their entire
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: lives that like, once they get to this point and
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: they actually start to struggle a little bit, it's like, Okay,
- 1:42:36Speaker 9: I give up, right, like, And you know, I think
- 1:42:39Speaker 9: that that's that's something that I've definitely noticed from.
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: More back to Jason Tatum en, come on, I wasn't.
- 1:42:45Speaker 8: No.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: It's a good question, and I think.
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: It's it's a kind of a question that I'm like
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: as a parent right now, just because you know, it's like, dude,
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: like you get so frustrated the second you don't get it,
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: and now you're just in this like spiral thing of
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: like I can't get it. I can't like it takes
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: a little bit of time, focus on it, work, you know.
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: It's just it's it's hard to get through push through
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: that initial frustration.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: It is all right, it's that time of the week.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Gotta hurry. How bad were you? I gotta find out
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: who's playing? You're terrible, Paul, what happened last week? Well
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: I told you that. You know, there is someone who
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: has a feel for the league, and that's really shining
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: through in these postseason giveings. He was matched by Evan
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: this week and the overall Evan and Fred four and O, Mike,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: Alex and Paul three and one. But where it really
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: separates is with the spread. Fred also went four and
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: oh with the spread.
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: He just turns it on in the postseason.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: Evan and Paul went two and two, and what happens
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Mike and alexh and four.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: Well, I'm not good with the spread, So here we are.
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. It's a overall. It's Fred at nine
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: and one, Wow, mister Evan and Paul seven and three,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Mike six and four, and miss traffic Jam at five
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: and five.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: It was Lumberer was lower everywhere.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Fred with the spread seven and three, followed by Paul
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: at six and four, Evan at five and five, Mike
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: and the Lumberyard at three and seven. The Lumberyard.
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: All right, Well, we've basically got three games left to
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: this weekend and he's one more after that, so let's
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: see what happens.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: We're not going to pick the Senior Bowl, Nah, I
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: think the West about the Pro Bowl.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: We'll bet on the skills part of the Pro Bowl.
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it's most accurate, all right.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: He wasn't even.
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: Three o'clock on Sunday on CBS and Paramount Plus Plus.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: The eleven and six Chiefs are at the thirteen and
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: four Ravens Baltimore by three and a half.
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: Baltimore. All right, I'm gonna do it. I think it's
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: Baltimore's time. I'm really kind of mad at myself that
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: I didn't pick Kansas City last week because I remember saying, you,
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: Paulner in the offseason. During the end of the regular season,
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: I'm like, I feel like this is kind of like
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: the six Patriots, where they don't really have it, but
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: they're gonna knock a good team off in the division.
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: I said it, and that I didn't. I didn't go
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: with it. I was wrong. AnyWho. That's a long way
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: of saying similar to two thousand and six when the
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Patriots ran out of gas because of you know, the flu.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: Of course, well they pumped it in.
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: They pumped it in and plus noise they pumped that
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: in too, so no one can overcome that. But I'm
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: taking Baltimore. I will lay the points. I think it's
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: their time to go to the Super Bowl of Lamar.
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: I was like, I'm gonna take Baltimore as well. By
- 1:45:50Speaker 9: three though, right, the spread is three and a half
- 1:45:52Speaker 9: is the spread. So I'm gonna take Kansas City to
- 1:45:54Speaker 9: cover the hook. But I really like Baltimore because now
- 1:45:59Speaker 9: they have a complete like it's not you know, they
- 1:46:01Speaker 9: have defense, they can run the ball, they can you know,
- 1:46:04Speaker 9: rely on Lamar obviously, but that defense is playing exceptionally well.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: Yeah. I made that comment to you last week about
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: their defense, and then I watched the game. I was like,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: I don't know, it shows up. I mean I kind
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: of felt like it was a little overrated, but it
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: was not overrated last week. Yeah, and they were missing
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: some key pieces too, like Marlon Humphrey.
- 1:46:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean their linebackers fly to the ball.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: That Smith was huge.
- 1:46:27Speaker 9: Kyle Hamilton is what we wish Kyle Duger was like,
- 1:46:30Speaker 9: that guy's just a freak. Yeah, they're they're really good.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with Evan. I want to take Baltimore to win.
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: I think they're at home. I think they get it done.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: But I think Kansas City is scrappy, proud enough to
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: keep it within.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean they're the Patriots. They're the modern
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: day Patriots.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: I mean, you can't ever count them Fred. They've won
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: two Patriots won six. But when it comes to talk
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: to me, when you talk to me, when you get.
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: The DVA of their opponents.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: They got Patrick mahone, so you can count them out.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: But I am going to go with the Ravens in
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: this game. I are you taking the points? I know,
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: what do you mean you're doing with the Ravens. Are
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: you taking the points or are you giving the points?
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: The Ravens will win by more than the points.
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: Okay, I can't wait for I'm losing to this guy
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: and I'm losing mister January over here before we.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Get losing by two games and both before we get
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: to the next one.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: I just want to tell you, whether you're in the

- 1:48:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: Now we get to the second game at six point
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: thirty on Fox and Fox Deportes. I think both these
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: games are good, but this one's.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: A toss up.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: I really do think it's the twelve and five Lions,
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: of course against the twelve and five forty nine.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: Ers Great Niners by seven football in this one gritty.
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: I you know, this might sound silly, but like I
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: really found myself hating Brock Purty last weekend, and I
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: really have been kind of neutral on him the whole time.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: I found myself laughing out loud at some of the
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: plays that he was making up. I was just sitting
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: there right now, like he's got a grin ear to ear.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: There's also a girl on TikTok. You've probably seen her name,
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: Anna Fry who looks exact like Brock Party, and that's
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: like why she's Internet famous. Right now is a girl
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: on TikTok who looks.
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: Like she's not famous for everything.
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: She's not famous, She's just a TikToker that looks like
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: Brock Party. Some people out there know what I'm talking about.
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: I wish I could throw you all do except for me.
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: I wish I could pick Detroit in this. I'm gonna
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: be rooting for them. I just think they're a good story.
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: But I'm gonna I'm gonna take San fran And but
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: I'm gonna get the points to Detroit. I think it'll
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: be close.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going the same way with Mike h If
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: it were my heart, it would be Detroit winning. But
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: it would be so fun to see.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: I mean a lot of points though it is a
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: lot of points I'm taking.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: That's why they're taking the.
- 1:49:35Speaker 9: I'm gonna do the same thing. But I think the
- 1:49:38Speaker 9: Niners in this game play a lot better. I think
- 1:49:40Speaker 9: the Packers it's a bad matchup. They know each other
- 1:49:43Speaker 9: really really well, with the two coaches having a relationship,
- 1:49:45Speaker 9: and the Packers always seem to play the Niners really tough.
- 1:49:48Speaker 9: I think the Niners are a little bit easier in
- 1:49:51Speaker 9: this one, maybe like a backdoor cover or something like that.
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: For the Lions. I take the I am I'm gonna
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: take San Francisco both ways. I think that outside. First
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: of all, Jared Goff is not the same. And I
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: feel like what Evan said about San Francisco. I think
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: they they got their mulligan last week. They should have
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: lost the game. Green bayle played them. They should have
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: they should have won the game. I think they get
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: that reprieve and they played much much better second time around.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: And I just to me, it's all about the defense
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: on Detroit. It's so bad. I think this could be
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: one of those games where Evan's like, I'm not gonna
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: listen to Paul on Tuesday because these guys just wide
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: open anybody can be. And I think he's gonna be
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: right this week. These guys are gonna be wide open,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: I think, and party's gonna look a lot different. I
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: think a lot.
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: You know, I don't know if Deebo Samuel is playing
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: what's the fifty it's like fifty fifty, he.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Probably's not gonna play.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: And if he doesn't play, I think it comes down
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: to brock party because I think the Lions are gonna
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: come in.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: I feel like they're gonna make your rockemen for I
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: think now we only had seven others ultimately, now I
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: think the Lions are going to come in keying on McCaffrey.
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: That's going to be mission one is limiting him, and
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: so Perty is gonna have to throw the ball in
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: this game, and that's gonna be a big question. But
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: despite that, I do think the forty nine Ers prevail.
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: But I think there's gonna be some turnovers involved, and
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: I think it's going to be closer than that spread.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: So give me the numbers. They have a chance, give
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: me the give me the have a chance to catch them.
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: Give me the numbers.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: But I do think we're going to see a rematch
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: of the Ravens and forty nine Ers Super Bowl, and
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: hopefully this time somebody reguards the electrical outlets and uh
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: they can keep the power.
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: Not a rematch? Why not? Why is it? Because there's
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: no such thing.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: If it's if the last game was in a super
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: Bowl and this game is in a super Bowl, it's
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: a rematch.
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: The last last game was in the super Bowl. It
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: wasn't earlier they played. No, No, I'm telling you. If
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: the game i'm comparing it to was also, I'm about yourself. Absolutely,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: it's a rematch. My book, this quantifies as a rematch. Right,
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: But the Book of Kurse generally rematch.
- 1:52:12Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: If we were talking about the regular season game and
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: somebody said, oh, this is a rematch of the super Bowl, No,
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: that's wrong, it's not. No, it's not.
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: Or if you're playing if you just played in the
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: super Bowl and then you meet in the first week
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: of the season, it's not a rematch because it's not
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: the same stakes.
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Super Bowl more qualifications for a rematch. But I'll tell
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: you when it's.
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: A forty six and rematch of forty two Super Bowl
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: forty six Giants Patriots, was that a rematch?
- 1:52:36Speaker 8: Yes?
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: You know what's funny about that. I think that might
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: be what started this whole Thing's it's not a rematch.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: The different players, different teams, That is a rematch.
- 1:52:46Speaker 9: By the way, same quarterback three and six thirty. This
- 1:52:50Speaker 9: is how it's done. College wonderful, learn a lesson perfect timing.
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: Love it.
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: It was even better.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: No, but it's still the network who's covering it can
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: have some show that will get ratings after the super Bowl.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: I'm just making that. I'm just saying that it's the
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: perfect it's the perfect time. Slots thirty A good time it.
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: Is because you're going to have a bigger audience throughout.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: You're not going to have people cashing out at eleven
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: o'clock because it's.
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: A half time.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to miss the whole first game. And
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: I think that the day after the super Bowl should
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: be a holiday. Don't you national holiday? So it's president
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: we don't have to come in, was Alex. That was
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: the absolute question that needed to be asked. Good job.
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: Once the once the league moves to eighth, Once the
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: move the league moves to eighteen, regularly, it's going to
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: be President's Day and it will be a holiday after this.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: The President's Day is the next week, so it's right there.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: So it's coming. It's coming. We're going to get that
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: holiday after the supermo we're all getting the Monday after.
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: But do we even get that off here? Probably not.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I don't know he's asking I don't pay attention to
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: the presidents. We found out all for years, like the
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: presidents weren't really presidents.
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: Now you have the power to grant us that day's work.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: You do have that content team, I have a power.
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: To do that should be a content team. Holiday.
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: I don't know. Did you check with Bill?
- 1:54:10Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: What did Bill say?
- 1:54:12Speaker 12: No?
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: Days off?
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:54:14Speaker 14: No?
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: And that did nothing but take them. We can say
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: that now, all right?
- 1:54:21Speaker 13: How dare you?
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: That's gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered,
