Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, so welcome. You're part of king Ultramega, which is
- 0:06Speaker 1: such an amazing thing for us music lovers. So tell
- 0:10Speaker 1: the Do you want to start off with telling the
- 0:12Speaker 1: good people here at Heavy mag a little bit about
- 0:14Speaker 1: how king Oultramega came to be and how long it's
- 0:18Speaker 1: been going for, and we'll get into the nitty gritty
- 0:20Speaker 1: from there.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Sure. Well, it kind of started during the pandemic back
- 0:26Speaker 2: in twenty twenty Bill kellaher from Masterdon, myself, William Duval,
- 0:31Speaker 2: and Charlie Binanti. It just jammed and really rusty cage,
- 0:38Speaker 2: just for fun, nothing more. And then Kim heard it,
- 0:42Speaker 2: Kim Thale, Yeah, and with him and I used to
- 0:45Speaker 2: started talking and you know, just normal normal talk, nothing,
- 0:50Speaker 2: nothing crazy. And then one day I asked him, Hey, man,
- 0:53Speaker 2: you want to jam his song together? That's so cool,
- 0:56Speaker 2: and he agreed and we did today. I tried to
- 1:00Speaker 2: live and Charlie played drums on that. And then those
- 1:04Speaker 2: songs sat for a few years and they are We
- 1:07Speaker 2: sat from twenty twenty one until late twenty twenty five.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And that's more so on me because I didn't know
- 1:16Speaker 2: if I wanted to go down that rabbit hole of
- 1:20Speaker 2: the Chris cornel Va stratosphere of music. Yeah, everything that
- 1:25Speaker 2: goes into it, because again that's a it's a daunting task.
- 1:31Speaker 2: You're opening yourself up for a mass criticism, especially.
- 1:36Speaker 1: With that you've got corightfully so.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And and again they really needed to be a reason
- 1:44Speaker 2: why would I do this and why would I put
- 1:47Speaker 2: myself through that? And then one day was you know,
- 1:50Speaker 2: the light bulb went off, We're going to donate all
- 1:53Speaker 2: the money to charity, you know when and that's what
- 1:58Speaker 2: we signed up with Music Errors and one hundred percent
- 2:01Speaker 2: of the proceeds goes to music heres. So that and
- 2:05Speaker 2: that was the why. That was the reason, why why
- 2:08Speaker 2: are we doing this? And that right there?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's such an amazing cause. And I'm sure
- 2:15Speaker 1: Querra Chris is he would be looking down and giving
- 2:17Speaker 1: it the big tick of approval, I have no doubt.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So yeah, it's you say, it's such a big thing
- 2:25Speaker 1: to come into. You know. Chris was such an incredible
- 2:28Speaker 1: artist and just a musical genius, you know, and certainly
- 2:32Speaker 1: one of my longtime faves, you know it was Audio
- 2:36Speaker 1: Slave Dog sound Garden. He just was He didn't have
- 2:39Speaker 1: a didn't have a bad run. He didn't fail, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I don't think you know, it's funny and I've been
- 2:47Speaker 2: doing a lot of press to that, especially between New
- 2:50Speaker 2: Zealand and Australia and can.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I just quickly say a Quicksilver hat, nice touch for
- 2:55Speaker 1: the Ausie.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And it's funny. I realize during this that, you know,
- 3:03Speaker 2: Chris's music has really been one musical constant in my
- 3:07Speaker 2: life from a very young age.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, And I.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Never realized that until very very recent going you know,
- 3:16Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of people. You go through
- 3:18Speaker 2: moods through music. You know, one month you're heavy into
- 3:22Speaker 2: this band or that genre. You know, maybe a few
- 3:26Speaker 2: you know, you get older, you don't listen to certain
- 3:29Speaker 2: things that you listen to when you're younger, or whatever
- 3:31Speaker 2: it might be. I realized that from a very young
- 3:36Speaker 2: age until now. Ye know, Chris has always been that constant.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I've never not to anything he's ever done.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I can't name any other band or musician that I
- 3:51Speaker 2: could say I've done that with, you know which is
- 3:56Speaker 2: and that kind of just you know, just hit of
- 3:58Speaker 2: recent uh yeah, and I was like, wow, I never
- 4:02Speaker 2: put never really put those together.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And it sort of makes sense now you look at
- 4:06Speaker 1: you had that realization why everything just works and melts
- 4:10Speaker 1: together so well, and that.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Was after the fact of doing all these songs. That's right.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a reason for everything. The world works in
- 4:17Speaker 1: mysterious ways sometimes. But I mean, like you say, you've
- 4:20Speaker 1: you've got some pretty good support or him being part
- 4:24Speaker 1: of it as well. And I believe there's another couple
- 4:27Speaker 1: of other tracks. Obviously you've got in the culture Mega
- 4:32Speaker 1: cast collaboration. You've got some MiG nose like Joe Satriani
- 4:35Speaker 1: for example, that I've come together too on a Chris
- 4:38Speaker 1: as well. Tell us a little bit how you managed
- 4:40Speaker 1: to get all that happening or do they did you
- 4:43Speaker 1: approach them or do they approach yourself?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Joe, Joe's a great example, because I
- 4:49Speaker 2: mean I just I went on tour with Joe playing
- 4:53Speaker 2: bass for him, and we just got off the road
- 4:56Speaker 2: and I was listening to knowing that I was doing
- 4:59Speaker 2: this project and that song audio sways version of that
- 5:02Speaker 2: song came on my headphones as I was I was
- 5:05Speaker 2: going through a jog or a run, and I kept
- 5:08Speaker 2: hearing Joe's guitar doing doing the vocal melody, and I
- 5:14Speaker 2: went man, that would be interesting turning this song into
- 5:18Speaker 2: an instrumental. That's fucking crazy And what am I thinking?
- 5:22Speaker 2: And uh, but what you hear is what was happening
- 5:26Speaker 2: in my head on that that I remember. I'll never
- 5:29Speaker 2: forget that afternoon. I was hearing what you're hearing. But
- 5:33Speaker 2: trying to relay that to Joe was a difficult task
- 5:36Speaker 2: because he thought I was crazy. He's like, what you know,
- 5:42Speaker 2: but he was. He was awesome. I mean, he killed it.
- 5:46Speaker 2: You know, Lizzie Hall singing on two songs, she was,
- 5:49Speaker 2: She's unbelievable. Having Matt Cameron and Kim Thale, you know,
- 5:55Speaker 2: to have their support with this project and their backing
- 5:58Speaker 2: is huge, and SAMs Management support, you know, the Cornella
- 6:02Speaker 2: State support. It's it's it's been. It's been pretty awesome
- 6:06Speaker 2: and it's definitely humbling, and I'm definitely grateful and I
- 6:10Speaker 2: do not take it for granted. Every day, you know,
- 6:13Speaker 2: every day the phone rings or my phone goes off,
- 6:16Speaker 2: whether it's a different musician or whomever. It is just
- 6:19Speaker 2: talking about Chris and you know, what we can do
- 6:21Speaker 2: on the next track or this and that, and it's
- 6:24Speaker 2: it's definitely it's pretty cool.
- 6:27Speaker 1: It is, and he say he was so so wanted
- 6:30Speaker 1: and so well loved and so well respected, you know,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and more so now. And to be treating it with,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know, such respect and in the way that you
- 6:37Speaker 1: have that you've got these people come on board and
- 6:39Speaker 1: supporting a project really speaks for itself. So you've certainly
- 6:43Speaker 1: done it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I have a note, so I'm in my studio right now.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I have a note that I'm there at right here,
- 6:48Speaker 2: and it says, do it's best for the song?
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yes?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Basically that's been my mantra of don't just put anything.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You know, I could pick up the phone and call
- 6:58Speaker 2: somebody to play if I need somebody to play something,
- 7:01Speaker 2: I could fill it. Yeah, But will will it be right?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Will it be right for the song? Is it going
- 7:06Speaker 2: to justify the song? Do they have what I'm looking for?
- 7:10Speaker 2: Not just musically? Are they going to deliver that soul
- 7:13Speaker 2: or whatever that particular track needs?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Absolutely, And I believe that's why these songs are coming
- 7:20Speaker 2: out the way they're coming out is because I've I've
- 7:23Speaker 2: been relentless on making sure that we do what's best
- 7:28Speaker 2: for the song, not only the musicianship, but the artwork,
- 7:33Speaker 2: the supporting art the pr the way things read, the
- 7:37Speaker 2: way things are presented. And it's the second part of
- 7:41Speaker 2: that is what would Chris thinking is Yeah, Chris like it.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You know anytime I question anything or my gut is
- 7:49Speaker 2: like I don't know, then it's the answers. No, that's
- 7:52Speaker 2: really what I've been doing.
- 7:54Speaker 1: In a way, it's like he's still talking to you.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You know, he's directing you, God in you in that sense,
- 7:58Speaker 1: which is really cool. I know, I'm a firm believer
- 8:00Speaker 1: that these things are are possible and do happen. And
- 8:03Speaker 1: if you follow your instinct and don't have a doubt,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you got judgment. You know, if that's what's telling you
- 8:08Speaker 1: to or not to do, don't follow it.
- 8:11Speaker 2: This project is definitely making me neurotic.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'll tell you that, because he's probably having a giggle
- 8:18Speaker 1: as well. It's I'm welcome, you know, I'm nitpicking everything,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and it's you know, that's what you have to do sometimes,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I think you know what you say, you know, doing
- 8:29Speaker 1: your rights right for the song. It's also about you
- 8:31Speaker 1: know the person that's performing it as well. I mean,
- 8:33Speaker 1: anyone can sound like a photocopy and reproduce something, but
- 8:35Speaker 1: if you're genuinely invested in you know, you're being in
- 8:38Speaker 1: your whole mindset and that it shows, you know, like
- 8:42Speaker 1: when someone's performing and.
- 8:44Speaker 2: It's amazing, you know, especially his solo work, when you
- 8:48Speaker 2: really peel back the ways of those songs, Yeah, not
- 8:54Speaker 2: only lyrically, but vocally and instrumentally. There's a lot going on,
- 9:00Speaker 2: and more so than the solo stuff.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Definitely, he was very that the complex.
- 9:06Speaker 2: You know, there's a lot going on there. And yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 2: my first foray into that when we were recording Preaching
- 9:14Speaker 2: the End of the World, the solo song off of
- 9:16Speaker 2: You four in the Morning. Yeah, it was like, Wow,
- 9:19Speaker 2: there's there's a walk going on in there. How do
- 9:22Speaker 2: I make that different?
- 9:24Speaker 1: You know, how do I still make it sound good?
- 9:27Speaker 1: But obviously yeah, yeah, yeah, And.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's really when I started going a little bit crazy.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We got we need not only one synth player, I
- 9:38Speaker 2: want a piano player.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, all those layers that go into it and then
- 9:42Speaker 1: pulling out synth.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, And then I would call my engineer and go,
- 9:47Speaker 2: do you own a sway bell? And he's like, and
- 9:51Speaker 2: I'm like, hear this one section. You'll hear it. You
- 9:54Speaker 2: listen to the one section that has a sway bell. Yeh,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm sitting in there just kind of I mean, these
- 10:00Speaker 2: are and it's not in the original, so there's a
- 10:02Speaker 2: lot of these things, you know. And then just thinking
- 10:06Speaker 2: about the Beatles for a minute, and no One Chris
- 10:08Speaker 2: was a huge Beetle fan. This song would be cool
- 10:11Speaker 2: to get mellotron and and a lot of the later
- 10:14Speaker 2: Beatle recordings would used. And the mellotron is just has
- 10:19Speaker 2: this distinctive sound.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And I love that when you can hear
- 10:24Speaker 1: those bits and pieces, you know, amazing production of work
- 10:28Speaker 1: that you hearing your stuff every time you listen to it,
- 10:31Speaker 1: which is great. I love those little samples, and that's
- 10:34Speaker 1: the thing.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I was adding things that weren't on the original, so
- 10:37Speaker 2: I already took a complex piece of piece of music
- 10:41Speaker 2: and made it even more complex. And then that followed
- 10:46Speaker 2: up with Dead Wishes, which is another solo song, and
- 10:49Speaker 2: you know when Bron delivered his vocals, Yeah, it was great.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I'm listening. We mixed it and I go, man, I
- 10:56Speaker 2: hear violins and cellos, yes, And it was like, who
- 10:59Speaker 2: do I I know that plays violins and cells and
- 11:03Speaker 2: these are the things that you know. It's just again
- 11:07Speaker 2: it's making me norotic because I'm trying to just one
- 11:10Speaker 2: up the next and make it the best I possibly can.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it certainly it sounds like you've definitely done that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: It sounds it's amazing to hear you know, and and
- 11:19Speaker 1: to know talking to the effort and this is the
- 11:21Speaker 1: labor that's gone into it, which you know when you
- 11:25Speaker 1: when you've dedicated and you focus it, it's I mean,
- 11:28Speaker 1: can go wrong, but you've certainly managed to pull it off,
- 11:30Speaker 1: which is just incredible.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Hopefully myself, I'm doing the absolute best I can to
- 11:37Speaker 2: my ability.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that's the post important too. I mean,
- 11:41Speaker 1: like I don't mind, you know, I'm there's a lot
- 11:44Speaker 1: of controversy public bands, tribute bands, but I think that
- 11:47Speaker 1: they certainly have their place and you know their position
- 11:50Speaker 1: in music, especially if it's done well and you know
- 11:53Speaker 1: yourself coming from your own group.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Where right, I write all the music for that. So yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 2: you going from writing for all these musicians to now
- 12:04Speaker 2: try to cover and trying to make something your own.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But you're not trying to make it your own. You're
- 12:11Speaker 2: trying to at least make it somewhat.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Different compliment it, which is a different way of it together.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Anyone, especially with technology today, anyone can make a carbon
- 12:20Speaker 2: copy or something.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. It'sploring and it's there's no passion in it,
- 12:23Speaker 1: there's no character.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yeah that's not for me.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree, not what I do. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: when you bring that different edge in the flat to
- 12:32Speaker 1: it and you know, it can be done really well.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Earlier in the year I seen from the UK. They
- 12:37Speaker 1: were a slipknot, you know, a cover band, and what
- 12:40Speaker 1: they brought to it. It was the same group of
- 12:42Speaker 1: guys and they had like I think three or four
- 12:44Speaker 1: different groups and it was just awesome. It was so cool.
- 12:47Speaker 1: It was done really well and I just up the
- 12:49Speaker 1: top of my head, I can't recall the name right now,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but you know, seeing that done was just excellent, Like
- 12:54Speaker 1: that was brilliant. That was you know, the kind of
- 12:56Speaker 1: stuff you want to see. And it wasn't like you say,
- 13:00Speaker 1: have a copy, but it brought that different edge and
- 13:02Speaker 1: that engagement, you know.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And yeah, you try. Especially that no one's playing this
- 13:09Speaker 2: music right now, you can't hear it anywhere, you know.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I know sound Darn's working on that last record right
- 13:17Speaker 2: there will be that it's going to come at some point,
- 13:20Speaker 2: but there is no there's no promotion that there's nothing
- 13:25Speaker 2: going on for and not only Sound Darn, but Chris
- 13:27Speaker 2: solo works, you know, or Audio Swave, Temple a Dog.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And the fact that people are discovering this music is great.
- 13:35Speaker 2: You know, I've actually read a bunch of comments online
- 13:38Speaker 2: that people thought Dead Wishes was a King Al Chamega
- 13:41Speaker 2: original song. And this is why we're here. You know,
- 13:47Speaker 2: you need to the greatest of all, go listen to
- 13:51Speaker 2: this record that that songs on everything. So it's cool
- 13:55Speaker 2: that people are discovering Chris's music and hearing it for
- 13:58Speaker 2: the first time, which.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Is on Yeah, and it just brings that new life
- 14:01Speaker 1: into it. And it I mean, his music was timeless anyway.
- 14:04Speaker 1: You know, we're fortunate to be of the generation that
- 14:07Speaker 1: we you know, we the original. We knew and loved
- 14:10Speaker 1: it for what it was and what it is. But
- 14:12Speaker 1: when timeless music that has life breathed into it continuously
- 14:15Speaker 1: and it becomes like that work of art that's continuous
- 14:19Speaker 1: is really such. That's you know, when you know you've
- 14:22Speaker 1: you've peaked and you know, Beatles class example of that,
- 14:25Speaker 1: you know, and to know that that's Chris his inspiration
- 14:28Speaker 1: as well, which he loved. I think a lot of
- 14:30Speaker 1: us have as well, but they all, you know, bring
- 14:32Speaker 1: to it something different. And some of the you know,
- 14:35Speaker 1: artists that you speak to, what their inspiration is is
- 14:38Speaker 1: often something that you wouldn't you know, pick, which is again,
- 14:42Speaker 1: good music is good music regardless of what.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Well, if you if you listen to Sound Gardens down
- 14:47Speaker 2: on the off side record and then you immediately you
- 14:49Speaker 2: immediately listen to his first solo record before your morning,
- 14:54Speaker 2: right after that you could hear what Chris was going
- 14:57Speaker 2: as a songwriter and as a musician. Here you hear
- 15:01Speaker 2: bits and pieces that in Sound Garden on that record,
- 15:03Speaker 2: and you know that's probably why they wed to creative
- 15:07Speaker 2: differences and why he went solo at that time.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Of course.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and you listen to to EUPHOORI your morning and
- 15:14Speaker 2: then covering a song off your four in the morning,
- 15:18Speaker 2: I go, man, he was really into the Beatles because
- 15:20Speaker 2: you're hearing, you know, I'm learning these songs and dissecting them.
- 15:26Speaker 2: And there's these like George Harrison guitar structures on certain things.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Literally use a star in some of those, like you know, yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 1: like there so many different instruments. Yeah, my favorite melodica,
- 15:39Speaker 1: which is the piano that you blow into it's going
- 15:42Speaker 1: to and it's coool, you know, and it's a lot
- 15:45Speaker 1: of And that's the way you can have fun with
- 15:47Speaker 1: it too, you know, when you get to sample all
- 15:49Speaker 1: that there's different types of sounds and noises and and
- 15:52Speaker 1: like you say, when you hear something and you hear oh,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I hear violins or what have you, and you bring
- 15:56Speaker 1: that to that, it just makes it that it's music
- 16:00Speaker 1: that unique sound and I.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Have I have, I have no business and I'm the
- 16:08Speaker 2: least credential person to do that, but uh, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 2: whether it's a blessing or a curse, it all lives
- 16:15Speaker 2: in here.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So it's just here so described as a snapshot to
- 16:20Speaker 1: your mindset right about.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I mean, it's funny my family calls this my pet
- 16:26Speaker 2: sounds this record because I'm just experimenting with all these
- 16:31Speaker 2: different instruments. And what's cool is I'm learning a lot
- 16:34Speaker 2: about myself as a musician too. What I can do,
- 16:38Speaker 2: what I can't do, what I can do well, what
- 16:41Speaker 2: I'm terrible at. And it's been awesome. It's been enlightening
- 16:46Speaker 2: knowing that there and I'm pushing I'm pushing my own limits.
- 16:50Speaker 1: What I can't do, which is yeah, you know, getting
- 16:54Speaker 1: stepping outside your square of a new comfort zone and
- 16:57Speaker 1: finding and discovering new things. And you say new book
- 17:01Speaker 1: talents and maybe not so talents that you can maybe
- 17:03Speaker 1: you can prove and work on down the track. But
- 17:05Speaker 1: it's I always say, you know that the day that
- 17:08Speaker 1: you stopped learning something new every day and new knowledge
- 17:11Speaker 1: and information is you know, that's how you keep brain alive,
- 17:14Speaker 1: you know, to the day I die. I want to
- 17:16Speaker 1: realize something you every day.
- 17:18Speaker 2: If you were have asked me, a younger version of
- 17:21Speaker 2: me that if I would be on a song with
- 17:23Speaker 2: an orchestra.
- 17:26Speaker 1: No, yeah, but what a beautiful thing. You know those
- 17:30Speaker 1: And there's a band I'm actually going to send them
- 17:32Speaker 1: tonight later in the year, you am. I It was
- 17:34Speaker 1: a great straying band. They've just announced they're coming with
- 17:37Speaker 1: a string quartet later in the year, which is I
- 17:39Speaker 1: love beautiful.
- 17:40Speaker 2: And I love the strings now, I love it. I
- 17:42Speaker 2: love hearing them. And again I went to go see
- 17:46Speaker 2: this this beetle. It was a stringed quartet doing beetle
- 17:51Speaker 2: covers just about a year ago. A year and a
- 17:54Speaker 2: half ago. Wasn't it this old church in Brooklyn beautiful?
- 17:59Speaker 2: It was just all church with candles? What up? And
- 18:02Speaker 2: it was it was a stand up bass player, two
- 18:05Speaker 2: cellos and two violin playing and I was like, oh,
- 18:09Speaker 2: this is amazing, this is And that was kind of
- 18:13Speaker 2: probably what kickstarted my The song needs violin.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's almost it's like, you know, it's it's
- 18:19Speaker 1: a hauntingly beautiful sound when you get that, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 1: just for me, I goos just thinking about it, because
- 18:25Speaker 1: it's just that it's encompassing. It's it's amazing in.
- 18:29Speaker 2: All words were back to the Beatles, right, So.
- 18:33Speaker 1: It's all three chords and a lie. It's so true,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you know, And and the best stuff is that, you know,
- 18:40Speaker 1: it can be often some of the most simple as well.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Obviously you know, having that complex and those layers and
- 18:45Speaker 1: those samples that make some a piece, you know, that's
- 18:48Speaker 1: often that's done in the after production and what at
- 18:51Speaker 1: that time. But you know, the core roots of what
- 18:54Speaker 1: makes a good song a good song is yeah, a
- 18:57Speaker 1: good riff, a good hook, sorry, good some good rifts
- 19:00Speaker 1: and some you know, often simple lyrics that people remember
- 19:03Speaker 1: and then look back to. It's I get into that
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know, allows for I think creatively, you know, to
- 19:10Speaker 1: be expanded on and to be reworked. So it's you know,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you've put all that effort into going through all the
- 19:17Speaker 1: define of details of finding what you can do and
- 19:20Speaker 1: what fits and what makes it sound good. Is it's
- 19:22Speaker 1: no mean feat That's for sure. If anyone being in
- 19:24Speaker 1: their recording studio and know what goes into a production
- 19:28Speaker 1: of just one song is yeah, it's hours and hours
- 19:31Speaker 1: and sixty odd versions of one track.
- 19:33Speaker 2: And not only that you're release we're releasing each song
- 19:37Speaker 2: as a single.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yeah wow, that's cool.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, most records, you you know, you release one, two,
- 19:43Speaker 2: maybe three singles, yeah, and then a full length record
- 19:47Speaker 2: and you do promotion around a record. We're treating each
- 19:50Speaker 2: song like it's its own record.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I guess because you've got different artists on
- 19:54Speaker 1: each song as well too soon.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Only that it's in my opinion, when I signed this Deer,
- 20:00Speaker 2: it was it was all about each song. You can't
- 20:03Speaker 2: just release one, two or three songs, put out a
- 20:06Speaker 2: record and forget about the.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Rest, you know, I know, so much more goes into it,
- 20:09Speaker 1: like you know, promotion.
- 20:11Speaker 2: These songs need to be highlighted they need their own
- 20:14Speaker 2: time to just fester and sit and and bang the
- 20:20Speaker 2: drum with each song. Yeah, and in the label has
- 20:23Speaker 2: been great, I mean they've been awesome. Our publicity publicity
- 20:27Speaker 2: team has been phenomenal from the States and then John
- 20:30Speaker 2: down there.
- 20:31Speaker 1: And yeah, we love he's a a weapon.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Everyone's been everyone's been super supportive and awesome in helping
- 20:40Speaker 2: me just kind of bang bang this drum.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, it's an absolute credit to yourself. So crudeos,
- 20:47Speaker 1: well done. No, that's all. It's good. So with the
- 20:51Speaker 1: album that you've got to and you say there's no profit,
- 20:54Speaker 1: all the money is being donated to music here, do
- 20:57Speaker 1: you want to tell the listeners a bit about what
- 20:59Speaker 1: they do and in terms of support.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Sure, they're The Recording Academy is non for profit and
- 21:07Speaker 2: the Recording Academy is the Grammys. Basically, they help anyone
- 21:13Speaker 2: and everyone within the musical industry, whether it's you're a musician, songwriter,
- 21:18Speaker 2: guitar player, vocalist, drummer, guitar player, business manager, guitar technician.
- 21:26Speaker 2: With you know, they'll do disaster relief for them to
- 21:31Speaker 2: rehab to mental health awareness too. If you need help,
- 21:36Speaker 2: they're there. For you, and they're all Chris was a
- 21:40Speaker 2: big supporter of theirs when he was alive. You know,
- 21:43Speaker 2: Kim has been a long time big supporter. That's why
- 21:45Speaker 2: we chose them, because him and Chris both did a
- 21:50Speaker 2: lot with them and do a lot with them. And
- 21:53Speaker 2: it came at the suggestion of Kim, you know, when
- 21:55Speaker 2: we were trying to decide who who is the what
- 22:00Speaker 2: is it? You know what we I didn't nowhere to
- 22:02Speaker 2: go and then Kim is the want to suggest the
- 22:04Speaker 2: music here.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Oh that's even better. That's that's such a beautiful honor.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And as you say, no doubt Chris would be very
- 22:10Speaker 1: happy to know that that's happening. And yeah, music here,
- 22:13Speaker 1: that's what a great what a great non prefferit. That's
- 22:16Speaker 1: musicians everywhere that you know, it's it's a tough gig,
- 22:19Speaker 1: and you know, when you're doing it professionally and you
- 22:21Speaker 1: know it the peaks and troughs and you fall on
- 22:25Speaker 1: those hard times and so many things you know can
- 22:27Speaker 1: come in and effect in you. And being the creative type,
- 22:30Speaker 1: we're all I think a bit more susceptible to her.
- 22:32Speaker 1: You know, those everything's a bit more magnified and you're
- 22:34Speaker 1: emotionally wise, and you're coping when things aren't good, and
- 22:37Speaker 1: just to know that they've got that support is really
- 22:41Speaker 1: quite critical.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Everything.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yeah, everything, Yeah, So definitely more more power to them
- 22:47Speaker 1: and good people like yourselves being able to do that.
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's certainly very credible, which is again well done. So
- 22:55Speaker 1: get plans to bring it on tour or is that
- 22:58Speaker 1: still in there? They're still in there the pipeline. Oh,
- 23:01Speaker 1: asking exclusive questions that you gotta answer.
- 23:04Speaker 2: That's the million dollar question. I can't even if I
- 23:10Speaker 2: had a nickel for every time someone asked me when
- 23:13Speaker 2: we're gonna tour King Ultramega. There's a demand for it,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I just would I wouldn't know how to do it.
- 23:21Speaker 2: And it's not even logistics, it's you know, musically, oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 2: what's going on. It's not just Soundgarden, right works, it's
- 23:32Speaker 2: it's everything.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 2: You need to find the band willing to learn all
- 23:38Speaker 2: these types of music and to play them correctly, and
- 23:41Speaker 2: then you need and then you need one of those
- 23:43Speaker 2: singers or vocalists to step up, not just to sing one,
- 23:47Speaker 2: but a set worth of cornell. And that is not
- 23:49Speaker 2: an easy I never say never. Yeah, that's no we'll
- 23:58Speaker 2: see what happens and we'll transpire and yeah, I'm hoping
- 24:02Speaker 2: in a perfect world that there is a show or two. Yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 2: that would be awesome.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I just who knows when and where though, Yeah, And
- 24:11Speaker 1: in the meantime we'll just enjoy enjoy the music as
- 24:14Speaker 1: it is with the album, which is again congratulations.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Well done, thank you. I appreciate it.
