- 0:05Speaker 1: The problems.
- 0:07Speaker 2: We got an email from one of our listeners asking
- 0:10Speaker 2: for some help with an issue she's having with her
- 0:13Speaker 2: boyfriend's mom.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, guys, not quite her mom in law? Really?
- 0:17Speaker 3: No, not yet?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Not quite or maybe never?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hey, guys, if you could keep me anonymous so we
- 0:23Speaker 2: will call her a nanny.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'd really appreciate it.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'll let you know that I live in more Head
- 0:29Speaker 2: and I'm hoping you could use this email for your
- 0:31Speaker 2: show and let me know. Am I the problem? I
- 0:33Speaker 2: love my boyfriend and I really think he could be
- 0:35Speaker 2: the one. He's super close with his family, and I've
- 0:38Speaker 2: been trying to build a good relationship with them too,
- 0:40Speaker 2: especially his mom. But now she's texting me every single day,
- 0:45Speaker 2: commenting on everything I post, and basically filling up my
- 0:48Speaker 2: weekends with quote unquote family time. It's starting to feel
- 0:52Speaker 2: like I'm dating her too. I know she means well,
- 0:55Speaker 2: but it's all getting to be a lot. If this
- 0:58Speaker 2: is what life looks like with him long term, I'm
- 1:01Speaker 2: not sure I'm ready for it. How do I set
- 1:03Speaker 2: boundaries with her without hurting our relationship or making things
- 1:07Speaker 2: awkward for Everyoneikes?
- 1:10Speaker 3: I feel so bad for a nani? Do you yes?
- 1:14Speaker 4: Because I think I'm missing part of this story, A nanni,
- 1:18Speaker 4: what do.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You think is the issue game? I would like your
- 1:21Speaker 2: team before I give mine. What what do you think
- 1:26Speaker 2: I feel like the issued Normally you feel better about,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, putting up hard boundaries when it's like my
- 1:34Speaker 2: boyfriend's mom is so rude. She's always like in our business,
- 1:38Speaker 2: she's a meddler.
- 1:39Speaker 3: She hates me.
- 1:41Speaker 2: That is like, okay, well you just you know, muster
- 1:44Speaker 2: up the courage and you're like, no, this stops here.
- 1:47Speaker 1: We've heard that story a thousands yeah times yet, but this.
- 1:49Speaker 2: One, I get that it's annoying, but it's like she
- 1:53Speaker 2: loves you, a nani, like, that's kind of major. If
- 1:57Speaker 2: I would have looked into my mother in law situation
- 2:00Speaker 2: early on, my life could have been a lot.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Different because my mother in law didn't like me for
- 2:07Speaker 3: a long time.
- 2:08Speaker 2: In fact, now that me and her son have split,
- 2:10Speaker 2: she likes me a lot better. And so here's the thing, Like,
- 2:14Speaker 2: I feel for you, a nanny, but.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I feel like this is a good problem to have.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I would agree with that. You'd must rather have
- 2:22Speaker 4: mom in law like you too much? Then yeah, I'd
- 2:25Speaker 4: much rather have that problem, right, now what.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Is she texting her?
- 2:29Speaker 4: Though?
- 2:29Speaker 3: That's I want That's.
- 2:31Speaker 4: What I want to know, all right, Anonymous? Are you
- 2:35Speaker 4: constantly responding? Do you know how easy it is to
- 2:39Speaker 4: kind of slow out someone who texts you too much?
- 2:42Speaker 4: You just sort of ignore it for a couple hours
- 2:45Speaker 4: and then respond, and then the next day you ignore
- 2:48Speaker 4: it a little bit longer and then respond.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's like training a dog.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Okay, first you respond, you wait an hour, and then
- 2:56Speaker 4: you respond, and then you wait two hours the next day,
- 2:59Speaker 4: and then six hours and then you know, it's really
- 3:02Speaker 4: not that hard. So I've painted this image that Anani
- 3:06Speaker 4: finds the finds it that she needs to respond to
- 3:09Speaker 4: everything all the time.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You know, sometimes you just don't respond. Just pretend you
- 3:14Speaker 1: didn't see.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It, like semi ghost exactly.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Just ghost your own mother in law. You'll see her
- 3:20Speaker 1: at Christmas.
- 3:22Speaker 4: You can catch up then, okay, and then you respond
- 3:24Speaker 4: the next day. Oh sorry, thought I responded to this,
- 3:28Speaker 4: but I accidentally hit the letter P, which is what
- 3:30Speaker 4: happens to me a lot. I'll hit pee instead of
- 3:32Speaker 4: send on the iPhone. Oh my god, I do that
- 3:34Speaker 4: all the time. So that's my excuse when I don't
- 3:36Speaker 4: respond to a text fastest.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Okay, well, now I know why you never answer my
- 3:39Speaker 2: text messages.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I'm kidding.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So Gabe's advice to Anonymous is not to really set
- 3:48Speaker 2: a boundary, yeah, rather train her boyfriend's mom like a dog.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So we need your help because I think maybe your
- 3:56Speaker 2: advice is gonna help Anonymous more seven oh one two
- 3:59Speaker 2: eight seven call us or text us let us know?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Is Anonymous the problem for not loving? How in love
- 4:07Speaker 2: with her her boyfriend's mom is? And what would you
- 4:10Speaker 2: do in this situation?
- 4:12Speaker 4: This is a perfect example of Angie and I neither
- 4:15Speaker 4: us are mother in laws. So if you are a
- 4:18Speaker 4: mother in law, maybe you have some good advice. Oh yeah, well,
- 4:21Speaker 4: Angie's not a mom in law. I'm not a mom
- 4:23Speaker 4: in law. What would what would you give advice to
- 4:26Speaker 4: this young lady? How would you want your daughter in
- 4:28Speaker 4: law to approach this situation? At seven oh one two
- 4:31Speaker 4: eight zero one nine.
- 4:38Speaker 2: The problem Anonymous in more Head reached out to us
- 4:41Speaker 2: asking for some advice. She has a boyfriend and she
- 4:45Speaker 2: was trying to make a good relationship with his mom,
- 4:50Speaker 2: but now it's gone too far. The mom is texting
- 4:52Speaker 2: her all day every day and she doesn't know how
- 4:55Speaker 2: to set the boundary because she just doesn't want to
- 4:58Speaker 2: be that involved with her boyfriend.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Mom.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So we asked you if you could give us some advice,
- 5:03Speaker 2: and we had an actual mother in law text mom
- 5:07Speaker 2: in law in the wild yes, so she would know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: She said, tell that girl to lie.
- 5:12Speaker 3: What we don't know won't hurt us.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Advice?
- 5:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean a mom in law or what would
- 5:20Speaker 4: it be like a fom in law, fake mom in law,
- 5:24Speaker 4: a fom in law.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'm busy this weekend, exactly right.
- 5:28Speaker 3: They don't have to know the truth. Yeah, fails.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Lie.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, you're not busy. You're eating cheese. It's on a
- 5:34Speaker 4: big bean bag watching Gilmore Girls.
- 5:39Speaker 3: You know too much about what girls do.
- 5:47Speaker 4: We like starting to show off with some positivity and
- 5:49Speaker 4: give you a reason to smile. Whether they're goofy, fun
- 5:52Speaker 4: little things or big, giant, massive things. Either way, we
- 5:56Speaker 4: just like starting to show off on a positive note.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Do you have a little victory today, Angie?
- 6:00Speaker 2: I made it to work on time. I woke up
- 6:02Speaker 2: late yesterday. Yesterday I was like, the melatonin is helping
- 6:08Speaker 2: me sleep ya.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Okay, it worked a little too well.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Now you're just knocked out completely.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But I got it together. I pulled it together. I
- 6:16Speaker 3: made it. I'm here with live. I feel good.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go, I think. Yeah, I don't even know.
- 6:21Speaker 4: If i'd count that as a little victory, I'd say
- 6:23Speaker 4: that's downright a pause, a massive victory.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Do you an.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Interesting show here? Just solo captain in this thing?
- 6:30Speaker 2: What would your impression of me be like if you
- 6:33Speaker 2: had to play both parts?
- 6:35Speaker 4: Oh, it'd be like today's riety big ninety eight point seven.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It's gave an angie hey or something like that is
- 6:41Speaker 4: probably how I do.
- 6:43Speaker 1: No, I don't know.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I like it.
- 6:45Speaker 4: My little victory yesterday. Once again, I'm kind of cheating
- 6:48Speaker 4: as I've done this now. I did this yesterday as well,
- 6:51Speaker 4: but I completed another seven mile bike ride yesterday, So
- 6:55Speaker 4: I did back to back days of going seven miles.
- 6:58Speaker 4: And I do think at some point by next week
- 7:01Speaker 4: I'm gonna try to do this big giant loop I do,
- 7:04Speaker 4: which is down twenty fifth over to University, back up
- 7:07Speaker 4: going south on University towards my neck of the woods
- 7:10Speaker 4: in South Fargo. And I think by next week I'm
- 7:13Speaker 4: gonna try to do this big giant loop twice and
- 7:17Speaker 4: we'll see how long it takes. And then I'm gonna
- 7:19Speaker 4: really try to narrow that down that it'd be around
- 7:23Speaker 4: like thirteen ish miles, and I want to see if
- 7:25Speaker 4: I can.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Maybe do it in under like forty minutes. We'll see.
- 7:28Speaker 4: It just gets really tough when you're going on fifty
- 7:30Speaker 4: second right, you're on twenty fifth going down or going
- 7:33Speaker 4: north on twenty fifth to fifty second from where we
- 7:36Speaker 4: live in South Fargo. When I take the right to
- 7:39Speaker 4: go to university, it's just weird on fifty second with
- 7:42Speaker 4: the lights, and like, I don't want to be that
- 7:45Speaker 4: guy riding like his bike in this street where there's
- 7:48Speaker 4: just a not a ton of room and a bunch
- 7:50Speaker 4: of cars and there's people who have to turn right
- 7:53Speaker 4: off of fifties and it's hard to really just kind
- 7:56Speaker 4: of fly. Yeah, I get that, So I want to
- 8:00Speaker 4: if I can do it in under forty to forty
- 8:01Speaker 4: five minutes.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Next week, we'll see.
- 8:03Speaker 4: But back to back days of riding six miles or
- 8:06Speaker 4: six ish miles, seven miles felt pretty good.
- 8:09Speaker 3: What are these caves of you? Is looking like maw Gabe.
- 8:12Speaker 4: The lungs felt great. I was fine, the cardio is good,
- 8:15Speaker 4: but I will say my legs were tired on the
- 8:18Speaker 4: last like quarter mile yesterday. I was, oh, man, I
- 8:20Speaker 4: can definitely tell I've done this.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So, you know what, I wish I knew any other
- 8:24Speaker 2: cyclist besides Lance Armstrong because he turned out to be
- 8:27Speaker 2: a cheater, cheater.
- 8:36Speaker 1: What.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I just didn't accept this.
- 8:40Speaker 2: You throw surprises at me sometimes, Gabe that I'm like, oh, okay,
- 8:44Speaker 2: but this is very fitting because.
- 8:48Speaker 3: We're going to talk about bedroom time.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And specifically specifically parents.
- 8:56Speaker 3: How do you sneak in bedroom time?
- 9:00Speaker 2: And you've got these kiddles that are just always you know,
- 9:03Speaker 2: in the way.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Exactly, I'm trying to My boyfriend is moving here in
- 9:10Speaker 2: this summer. It's just a few weeks away, and I
- 9:14Speaker 2: was thinking, wait a minute, when are we ever gonna
- 9:17Speaker 2: find time to do anything like go bowling?
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah? Like go bowling?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And so I just I asked on our Instagram and
- 9:27Speaker 2: on our Facebook, what are your hacks for sneaking in
- 9:32Speaker 2: bedroom time when you've got the kids.
- 9:34Speaker 3: And so we got some good ones. We got a
- 9:36Speaker 3: lot of dms.
- 9:37Speaker 2: On Instagram versus on Facebook.
- 9:40Speaker 4: They can't give away the secrets their kids on Instagram.
- 9:44Speaker 1: There we go.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah, so Kara said, ever have to do laundry.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Throw some chicken nuggets at the kids, turn on the TV,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and then go do laundry.
- 9:54Speaker 3: It might only be a few minutes, but it can work.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Yeah. You know, at my house, if we got a
- 9:59Speaker 4: sneak in bedroom time. Now I don't have kids, what
- 10:03Speaker 4: I normally will do. Our process is we just shut
- 10:07Speaker 4: the door.
- 10:09Speaker 3: You know, unhelpful game, get out of.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Your cats, get out of here dog. Usually we can
- 10:15Speaker 1: just shut the door.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Okay, well I can't just do that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Will bother the door and knock?
- 10:23Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. I can't stick my kids in a crate.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And then.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Well, well, and then this one. Listen, Lindsey, I love
- 10:39Speaker 2: a logical answer, but we're to pass far that this
- 10:42Speaker 2: is teach them privacy and boundaries at a young age.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It's too late.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They're sitting there knocking on the door.
- 10:50Speaker 4: They are being respectful and trying to give you privacy
- 10:53Speaker 4: with maybe needing your help for something.
- 10:57Speaker 3: That's true. Here's this last one. This is Greg.
- 11:01Speaker 2: My wife and I take showers at the same time
- 11:04Speaker 2: all the time. Save their screen time for advantageous moments.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I don't actually hate that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: That's true. You throw an iPad at the kid and
- 11:12Speaker 2: be like, I gotta take a shower. I gotta take
- 11:14Speaker 2: a shower.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Okay, I guess we have to take a shower.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I will say, though, if that is your strategy or
- 11:19Speaker 4: your strat as the kids say, make sure you get
- 11:22Speaker 4: one of those non slip surfaces.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Please please please don't prove them now.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I don't know if you saw this or not, Angie,
- 11:35Speaker 4: but Brad Pitt and Angelina and Joe Lee have both
- 11:39Speaker 4: talked about their divorce. Now, obviously it was heartbreaking, it
- 11:44Speaker 4: wasn't fun, it was a horrible time.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But you know, down the road now they have come out.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And both basically mentioned that really what the worst part
- 11:52Speaker 4: about it has been people just prying into their private lives.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and just a horrible and I this is
- 11:59Speaker 4: a quote a nagging time suck, which is a fabulous quote.
- 12:05Speaker 1: By the way, I'll be using that in my now vernacular.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's what I call my children. I'm just kidding.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I love them.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So today I wanted to know if you are someone
- 12:16Speaker 4: who has either a gone through a divorce or be
- 12:20Speaker 4: a tough breakup or something. I don't know, I just
- 12:23Speaker 4: want to know, how would you go about doing that
- 12:25Speaker 4: more smoothly so you don't end up in the same
- 12:27Speaker 4: situation as Brad Bitt and Angelina.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Jones their divorce because I followed along with it. It
- 12:33Speaker 2: was so contentious. There was so much going on, and
- 12:37Speaker 2: we all heard about it because they're celebrities, right, and
- 12:41Speaker 2: it was really rough. I personally, Gabe, I'm going through
- 12:45Speaker 2: a divorce now right, and it hasn't been the smoothest always.
- 12:52Speaker 2: But I think we finally got to a place where
- 12:55Speaker 2: it was like, listen, us being together was not sustainable,
- 12:58Speaker 2: like it just when we're out.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We were together for one hundred and fifty two years
- 13:03Speaker 2: and we grew apart.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Wow, Well, I think shifted for us.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I know so many good for you, I look great
- 13:11Speaker 2: for my age, But I think what shifted for us
- 13:17Speaker 2: is when we because we have kids involved, we have
- 13:19Speaker 2: two kids. I think the shift for us was when
- 13:22Speaker 2: we both decided, you know what, we need to put
- 13:26Speaker 2: the kids first, sure and just focus on making.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Sure that they're okay, that they're happy.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And by virtue of putting them first, it made us
- 13:37Speaker 2: be nicer to each other and get along better because
- 13:39Speaker 2: we didn't want our kids to see us fighting or angry. Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and so that's what has made it smoother for now,
- 13:49Speaker 2: Like you never know, Yeah, things change, but I think
- 13:52Speaker 2: for now we're good.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Yeah, let us know here this morning, do you have
- 13:55Speaker 4: any advice on how to make a divorce go more
- 13:58Speaker 4: more smoothly. There might be some listening right now who
- 14:01Speaker 4: hears this and goes, oh my god, that's a great idea.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Hey, we never thought of this or whatever. So let
- 14:06Speaker 1: us know.
- 14:06Speaker 4: It's seven oh one two eight zero one to nine
- 14:08Speaker 4: eight seven. I've never been divorced, but I have gone
- 14:11Speaker 4: through breakups or whatever. Some of them were great, some
- 14:14Speaker 4: of them not so great. So I can't, like one
- 14:16Speaker 4: hundred percent relate to the divorce thing necessarily, but I
- 14:19Speaker 4: know what it's like to, you know, have your heart
- 14:21Speaker 4: broken and be broken up with someone, and it's not
- 14:23Speaker 4: always the nicest or easiest of separations.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Right if you are gabees X, give us a call seven, No,
- 14:31Speaker 2: what do ain't one?
- 14:32Speaker 3: Nine eight seven? Let us know how he did during
- 14:34Speaker 3: the breakup.
- 14:35Speaker 4: We do have Joe on the phone, who did give
- 14:37Speaker 4: us a call here? Joe, what would you do for
- 14:39Speaker 4: a smooth divorce?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Man, you're getting divorced for a reason.
- 14:42Speaker 2: You're being some sort of disagreement that has gotten out
- 14:44Speaker 2: of control.
- 14:45Speaker 1: For a smooth divorce, you both.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Have to put those disagreements aside and just start working together.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it sucks, but that's the only way he's got
- 14:54Speaker 1: to be.
- 14:55Speaker 2: That's true that we put our disagreements aside once we
- 14:59Speaker 2: decided to work on the common goal of having our
- 15:02Speaker 2: children be happier.
- 15:03Speaker 1: We also have Myra on the phone. For me, it's
- 15:06Speaker 1: hanging with the girls.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm just staying distracted. Plus having a lawyer you can
- 15:10Speaker 3: trust to do all the work.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that pirate. This segment is brought to you by
- 15:15Speaker 4: Suits the USA. But what would your advice be seven
- 15:19Speaker 4: oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven anyone
- 15:23Speaker 4: who has gone through divorce and wishes they would have
- 15:25Speaker 4: done this to make it more smooth. Brad Pitt and
- 15:33Speaker 4: Angelina Joe Lee have both come out and talked about
- 15:36Speaker 4: the worst part of their divorce. Now obviously heartbreaking and
- 15:38Speaker 4: all of that, but they both had mentioned, and this
- 15:41Speaker 4: is a quote, that one of the worst parts is
- 15:44Speaker 4: just it's been a nagging time, suck and a ton
- 15:49Speaker 4: of people obviously kind of butting in on their personal lives.
- 15:52Speaker 4: So I could get why that would be horrible if
- 15:55Speaker 4: you're a celebrity. Now if you're like you and I
- 15:57Speaker 4: and just a regular old person.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Divorce still hard, Still nightmare.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still a nightmare. I'm going through a divorce.
- 16:04Speaker 2: And we were discussing ways to try and make the
- 16:07Speaker 2: divorce go smoother for me and my ex. Once we
- 16:12Speaker 2: decided to just put the kids first. That made it
- 16:16Speaker 2: a lot easier to put our personal stuff aside.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and there are two ways you could take this.
- 16:22Speaker 4: It could go smoother for both of you. But if
- 16:24Speaker 4: someone's not willing to play ball, right, you could just
- 16:27Speaker 4: make this go smoother for yourself. It does not, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 4: not always when there's a big giant separation. Yeah, is
- 16:34Speaker 4: everyone gonna be willing to play ball on equal playing field?
- 16:38Speaker 3: True story?
- 16:38Speaker 2: Man?
- 16:39Speaker 4: All right, well we do have Crystal on the phone. Crystal,
- 16:43Speaker 4: what would you do?
- 16:44Speaker 2: Don't knock me for this.
- 16:46Speaker 1: The best way to get over somebody old is to

- 19:23Speaker 2: not in front of you.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Well, like a nonchalant like he tried.
- 19:28Speaker 4: He tried to do the old like oh hip yeah, yeah, yeah,

- 19:43Speaker 2: said something that he kind of gave a chuckle to,
- 19:45Speaker 2: and I was like, well, thank you for having me
- 19:47Speaker 2: on the team, and you know, he's very kind, and
- 19:50Speaker 2: so then I thought like, great, excellent. That went fine
- 19:54Speaker 2: and dandy until I went back down the hall. I
- 19:58Speaker 2: stopped into the restroom to wash my hands, and I
