- 0:19Speaker 2: Big ten Preview Week Hunters are Nikki, Austin Rose, Dakota
- 0:26Speaker 2: Free Tag. We are still up on YouTube. Get in
- 0:31Speaker 2: a couple of views. I'll just leave it out a
- 0:33Speaker 2: couple but it's interesting finding out that some people still
- 0:39Speaker 2: dislike to listen to podcasts. But yeah, if you want
- 0:43Speaker 2: to watch us, we are on YouTube. We also can
- 0:47Speaker 2: be found in same places as always Big ten Preview Today,
- 0:52Speaker 2: we'll have a little Husker talk, but we really want
- 0:56Speaker 2: to dive through the opponents so we can see who
- 0:59Speaker 2: we're beaten in the Big ten title game ten titles.
- 1:05Speaker 3: So optimistic of you Hunter pay tape titled yeah You're right, Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 3: you're You're always known to be the optimistic one, and
- 1:17Speaker 3: I should I should follow as soon you do your lead.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I'm already assuming we all got into risking number one.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Well, yeah, we could just write that off.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Here's how we're gonna do this. It's gonna be a
- 1:34Speaker 1: little bit.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Of a longer episode, well not time wise, but a
- 1:38Speaker 2: lot of content to get through. So there's eighteen teams.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I was doing research. It took a while to get
- 1:46Speaker 2: through them all, and it makes it more fun. I think,
- 1:50Speaker 2: but the same time, there's gonna be a lot to
- 1:53Speaker 2: dive into. So just high level overview. Eighteen teams, four newcomers.
- 2:01Speaker 2: There's quite a few first year head coaches. You got
- 2:05Speaker 2: Jed Fish at Washington, Jonathan Smith coming from Oregon State
- 2:11Speaker 2: to Michigan State, to Sean Foster first year head coach
- 2:14Speaker 2: at U C. L. A.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Signetti at Indiana.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Who else, Oh, David Braun taken over head coach at Northwestern,
- 2:27Speaker 2: So yeah, wasn't David Braun the interim last year? He
- 2:31Speaker 2: was the interim, so this is an official first year.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So a lot of new coaches there for teams that
- 2:38Speaker 2: I guess for me when we get to our rankings
- 2:40Speaker 2: that are kind of all in one big group, there's
- 2:43Speaker 2: some there's some teams here that I think, I mean,
- 2:46Speaker 2: we're one of them that have a chance to potentially have.
- 2:50Speaker 1: A breakout year.
- 2:52Speaker 2: We have a little more continuity than some of these
- 2:55Speaker 2: other teams. But for the most part, it's there's a lot.
- 2:58Speaker 2: There's a couple at the top we'll get to. I
- 3:01Speaker 2: assume we're all pretty similar in that aspect, but a lot,
- 3:05Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of interesting moving parts here
- 3:09Speaker 2: in Big ten media days, were a few weeks ago,
- 3:12Speaker 2: heard a lot hurd some interesting comments from a couple
- 3:15Speaker 2: of the coaches.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So, yeah, how this is gonna work?
- 3:19Speaker 2: We are instead of each going through like our eighteen
- 3:23Speaker 2: or seventeen, we're just gonna let one person just go
- 3:27Speaker 2: and they'll have some time to go through all their rankings,
- 3:31Speaker 2: give some commentary, almost like a little segment.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We should put some music behind it. But but you
- 3:38Speaker 1: get you.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You'll get some time to explain your rankings, justify him.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We'll have some time for some back and forth, and
- 3:45Speaker 2: then we'll move on. So I'm curious. This was hard.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It was so hard for me to do. So as
- 3:54Speaker 2: leave it there, I'm gonna go last to Austin. I
- 3:56Speaker 2: think you're gonna go first, act second, So Austin, the
- 3:59Speaker 2: floor is yours for the people.
- 4:02Speaker 3: All right now, I will say, as far as my
- 4:06Speaker 3: depth of how I looked at this, I pretty much
- 4:08Speaker 3: looked at a couple key returning players who they lost schedule.
- 4:13Speaker 3: That's pretty much all the further I went. I didn't
- 4:16Speaker 3: think too hard about it, So I'll justify a couple
- 4:19Speaker 3: bike you said, really probably got five at the top,
- 4:22Speaker 3: a big group in the middle, and maybe two or
- 4:24Speaker 3: three at the bottom that are I think I think
- 4:27Speaker 3: we'll all agree on but I don't know for fact.
- 4:29Speaker 3: So we're gonna try to start from the bottom, work
- 4:31Speaker 3: our way up. I pulled my list here U c
- 4:35Speaker 3: l A. It's gonna have the worst year in the
- 4:38Speaker 3: Big ten.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Sorry, I said, I wasn't gonna interrupt you. And then
- 4:43Speaker 2: I made a fun little graphic that I want to
- 4:47Speaker 2: share while we're doing this, I can figure out how
- 4:49Speaker 2: to do it. Share screen.
- 4:54Speaker 1: There it is.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It is.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Look at that. Wow, you little graphic.
- 5:00Speaker 4: You I like.
- 5:03Speaker 3: You lost it knows Obahan, the Exarban Curling Board president
- 5:06Speaker 3: Cort directors pictures on your shows. That's funny, all right.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I got UCLA number eighteen. They have a really tough
- 5:16Speaker 3: schedule and I'll I mean, it's absolutely brutal. They travel
- 5:21Speaker 3: the most mileage in the FBS over the seasons, like
- 5:23Speaker 3: twenty two thousand miles or something like that. They play LSU, Oregon,
- 5:27Speaker 3: Penn State, Minnesota, Rutgers, Nebraska, Iowa, Washington, USC Sandwich between
- 5:33Speaker 3: Indiana and President and Iowa Hawaiian so easily. I think
- 5:36Speaker 3: they're gonna have the worst record in the Big ten.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So working our way up from there, we're gonna go
- 5:43Speaker 3: probably the Indiana Hoosiers do first year head coach, they
- 5:50Speaker 3: haven't been very good ever since Michael Pennix was there. Basically,
- 5:55Speaker 3: don't really need to justify that too much. Following it
- 5:58Speaker 3: up another Indiana, the Native the Purdue boiler Makers. Although
- 6:02Speaker 3: I think they're gonna be improved from last year, they
- 6:07Speaker 3: have a tough schedule for the most part. Again, we're
- 6:11Speaker 3: starting to get to that bat pack of I think
- 6:13Speaker 3: there's gonna be a lot of teams that are gonna
- 6:15Speaker 3: be sitting around at seven to five, eight, four and
- 6:18Speaker 3: six and six. I think Ford is gonna be on
- 6:21Speaker 3: the edge of that, probably like a five and seven.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But I just think they don't really have a whole lot.
- 6:30Speaker 3: They're still kind of turning over with their defensive coach
- 6:32Speaker 3: from what their offense was. Up next from them, I'm
- 6:37Speaker 3: gonna go with Michigan State, another new head coach. Had
- 6:41Speaker 3: a rough year last year, but they were they were
- 6:43Speaker 3: still kind of feistys are towards the end. I do
- 6:48Speaker 3: think I can't remember what's the Oregon State head coach.
- 6:54Speaker 3: What's his name? Yes, I think he's a good head coach.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I think he's gonna be or a lot of talent
- 7:00Speaker 3: from Oregon State. I don't know how well that talent's
- 7:03Speaker 3: gonna translate from the Pac twelve into the Big Ten.
- 7:08Speaker 3: From there, I'm probably gonna throw in Illinois. I think, honestly,
- 7:17Speaker 3: Illinois Northwestern are pretty close for me. I think Illinois
- 7:22Speaker 3: with Brett Bleema could easily turn around and have a
- 7:25Speaker 3: DC year. But I also don't know if they really
- 7:28Speaker 3: showed that they got that much talent in the off season,
- 7:32Speaker 3: and then I'd have Northwestern be next, basically for the
- 7:41Speaker 3: same thing. I think they lost their quarterback, They're going
- 7:45Speaker 3: to have a transfer quarterback, They're gonna have a pretty
- 7:49Speaker 3: decent defense, They'll have an okay offense. I just think
- 7:52Speaker 3: the middle of the Big ten's just going to cannibalize
- 7:54Speaker 3: itself up after that, I'd probably go with Minnesota over
- 8:02Speaker 3: the Terrapins. They also have no Tanner Morgan, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 3: so at that point I think that's a positive. So
- 8:12Speaker 3: they should be better than last year. Maybe I can't.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I don't. I'll just letting you know. This middle of
- 8:20Speaker 3: the Big Ten was so freaking hard to rank. Ah,
- 8:27Speaker 3: they have a decent schedule. I don't think it's that tough.
- 8:29Speaker 3: They put by Michigan, Iowa, and USC and then Penn
- 8:33Speaker 3: State at the end of the year. Better than that,
- 8:34Speaker 3: I think they go win the rest of it. So
- 8:36Speaker 3: now you're looking at that eight and four mark. Yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 3: then you have Maryland up next. I was gonna pull
- 8:44Speaker 3: up their schedule. Actually I just closed it, though. I
- 8:48Speaker 3: think they're actually returning a decent amount of talent. I
- 8:52Speaker 3: think they have a pretty favorable schedule as far as
- 8:55Speaker 3: Maryland goes. Their toughest game is going to be against Oregon.
- 8:58Speaker 3: They have Oregon, Penn State, Iowa, and the USC. I
- 9:03Speaker 3: think they could win the rest of them. Honestly, again, Minnesota,
- 9:07Speaker 3: Northwestern Indiana, Villanova, Yukon all very winnable games. Put them
- 9:13Speaker 3: up there. Where's my list? And then here's where it
- 9:20Speaker 3: kind of gets a little tricky. I think I'm gonna
- 9:22Speaker 3: put Washington. They lost their head coach, he went to Alabama.
- 9:27Speaker 3: They lost a lot of their talent that transferred out.
- 9:29Speaker 3: They lost a lot of talent they graduated, lost their
- 9:31Speaker 3: starting quarterback, lost their starting wide receiver, lost their other
- 9:34Speaker 3: starting wide receiver. Made the national title last year. I
- 9:38Speaker 3: think it's gonna be a little reminiscent of TCU from
- 9:40Speaker 3: last year, where they just totally dip off Big Ten's tough.
- 9:44Speaker 3: They kind of have a tough schedule. So I have
- 9:47Speaker 3: them right in the middle of the pack at ten.
- 9:49Speaker 3: From there, I'm gonna go with Wisconsin. I think Luke
- 9:56Speaker 3: Fickle is a good head coach. I think they're in
- 10:00Speaker 3: the right path. I don't remember what the record was
- 10:03Speaker 3: last year. I had it written down somewhere.
- 10:08Speaker 4: You know, I've had seven and five.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Is that right? I can't remember there were six and
- 10:15Speaker 3: six or seven and five. But I think they'll improve.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I think they'll make a bowl this year. You know,
- 10:21Speaker 3: you look at their schedule, it's kind of the same
- 10:23Speaker 3: as everyone else. They have Penn State, Iowa, USC. They
- 10:26Speaker 3: do play Alabama, probably gonna lose that one. But I
- 10:31Speaker 3: think they'll probably make a bowl at seven and five,
- 10:33Speaker 3: just like the rest of these guys, are gonna be
- 10:35Speaker 3: right there at the middle of the pack. Number you're
- 10:39Speaker 3: Nebraska corn Huskers. I know you thought they're gonna be
- 10:41Speaker 3: number one. They're not. I think we also have a
- 10:45Speaker 3: favorable schedule. We'll talk a lot more about the Huskers.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I don't even spend too much time while they're number eight.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Did you then? I have Rutgers number seven. Spicy little
- 10:58Speaker 3: year for Rutgers. We've talked about this again. Favorable schedule,
- 11:02Speaker 3: they return a lot of talent. Gray Gianna's still there.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It's really just their schedule that's kind of tasty to
- 11:10Speaker 3: look at. It's they play USC as their only preseason
- 11:15Speaker 3: ranked opponent, Howard Aker in Virginia Tech, Washington, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ucla, Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois,
- 11:22Speaker 3: with Michigan State. They could win all of those games
- 11:26Speaker 3: except for no. They could win all those games straight up. Could.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I don't think they will, but it's such a nice
- 11:34Speaker 5: schedule it's tough not to put them in the top seven.
- 11:36Speaker 5: I almost wanted to bump them up to the top five,
- 11:39Speaker 5: but I didn't know if we were going totally based
- 11:40Speaker 5: off where we expect them to end or based off talent.
- 11:43Speaker 5: So I threw them at number seven. Number six. I
- 11:50Speaker 5: have you Iowa, I will said USC. I think they'll
- 11:54Speaker 5: be improved from last year. They'll still bring a great defense,
- 11:58Speaker 5: offense can't be any worse, and they were really.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Good last year with the shitty offense. So there you
- 12:05Speaker 3: have it. Six. I got USC number five. I think
- 12:13Speaker 3: a lot of people are down on them just because
- 12:15Speaker 3: of their defense. I think Whencoln Riley's a good offensive coach,
- 12:19Speaker 3: dak you can't say anything yet, but I do think
- 12:23Speaker 3: they're gonna have a really good offense. They have a
- 12:25Speaker 3: great wide receiver of good skill positions. I think it
- 12:28Speaker 3: slightly improved defense will go a long ways. Obviously, the
- 12:32Speaker 3: Big ten's a little bit tougher, but I do think
- 12:35Speaker 3: they're top five in the Big Ten. Number four I
- 12:38Speaker 3: have Michigan lost their head coach, lost their starting quarterbacks,
- 12:42Speaker 3: still returning quite a few key players from their championship
- 12:46Speaker 3: team last year. I think part of their championship team
- 12:51Speaker 3: last year was a little bit of a I want
- 12:54Speaker 3: to say, a fluke, but they didn't blow anyone out offensively,
- 12:58Speaker 3: and I think they're gonna take a step back offensively,
- 13:00Speaker 3: so they're probably gonna lose a couple more of those
- 13:02Speaker 3: defensive battles, all right. Number three Penn State. They have
- 13:11Speaker 3: an arguab one of the best quarterbacks that Franklin's had
- 13:15Speaker 3: coaching at Penn State. They got a new offensive coordinator.
- 13:19Speaker 3: They're trying to spruce up. They've always had a good defense.
- 13:21Speaker 3: They usually have great linebackers. I really think that they
- 13:27Speaker 3: are in position that they're gonna They're actually gonna do
- 13:30Speaker 3: something this year. I think their schedule is not too
- 13:33Speaker 3: much of a gauntlet.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Where it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: When you look at their schedule, they don't have to
- 13:43Speaker 3: play Michigan this year. They play Ohio State and USC,
- 13:48Speaker 3: but the rest of their schedule very winnable, and they
- 13:52Speaker 3: could even win USC, and they could win Ohio State.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Number one and two, I'm gonna go with number two,
- 14:03Speaker 3: the Ohio State Buckeyes. I really think Oregon's really freaking good. Obviously,
- 14:09Speaker 3: the Buckeys are really good. They got Chip Kelly at
- 14:10Speaker 3: the offensive, Will Howard coming in a transfer quarterback. They
- 14:15Speaker 3: returned to a ton of their starters last year. Still
- 14:18Speaker 3: upset that they lost to Michigan. But Morgan's really freaking good,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and I think that they're the best team at the conference.
- 14:26Speaker 3: That's it. That's what I got. How's my time, I
- 14:29Speaker 3: don't know.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I didn't time yet, Dak. I'll let you unload on
- 14:32Speaker 1: the Lincoln Riley.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I'll say it for my, uh my rankings, it'll kind
- 14:41Speaker 4: of tie in there.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Interesting is it's interesting? I think you highlighted a lot
- 14:47Speaker 2: of similar thoughts, but we definitely have some differences when
- 14:53Speaker 2: I get to mine, I do agree like there's a
- 14:57Speaker 2: lot of jumble teams here that as I met before,
- 15:01Speaker 2: there's six.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Through fifteen could honestly.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Go the middle could go anyway.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Well, I should say seven through fifteen could really go anyway,
- 15:09Speaker 3: and even you might be able through it for doing there.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just there's a lot of variability and a
- 15:15Speaker 2: lot of it's going to come down to I think
- 15:17Speaker 2: quarterback play. A couple of things, like when I get
- 15:21Speaker 2: to my rankings too, that I am trying to score
- 15:26Speaker 2: a little higher, is returning production and just consistency from
- 15:33Speaker 2: the year before. I think the transfer portal obviously is
- 15:36Speaker 2: everywhere now, but a lot of these teams there's just
- 15:41Speaker 2: so many newcomers.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And the transfer portal is good.
- 15:44Speaker 2: But I think teams that are able to retain and
- 15:46Speaker 2: return people, I think are going to have a little
- 15:50Speaker 2: bit of an edge. Dak any other comments on Austin's
- 15:53Speaker 2: ratings or you just want to.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Jump in.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I think I think a lot of this has to
- 15:58Speaker 4: do with schedule. Yes, it's a lot of teams either
- 16:06Speaker 4: got really screwlized schedule or got really easy schedules. You
- 16:09Speaker 4: just want to miss those top four to five teams.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and I will say this too, like I didn't
- 16:15Speaker 2: factor schedule into mine. There's two ways of doing rankings, right,
- 16:19Speaker 2: finishing order based on record and play, which it sounds
- 16:22Speaker 2: like since you're factoring in the schedule, it's kind of
- 16:25Speaker 2: where you landed.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I was just doing more power ranks and teams and
- 16:30Speaker 1: where I have them.
- 16:30Speaker 2: So that's why we differ a little bit. But that's
- 16:33Speaker 2: the beauty of rankings. It's all someone's opinion. There's a
- 16:36Speaker 2: reason why they have them where they have them.
- 16:38Speaker 4: So how does I would never play any of those
- 16:40Speaker 4: top teams?
- 16:41Speaker 1: They get a lucky ass schedule every year.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Every I guess they played Penn State and they got
- 16:46Speaker 4: their doors kicked off.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But oh man, all right, Dak floors yours?
- 16:54Speaker 4: All right? I told I told Hans earlier. Most it's
- 16:58Speaker 4: just off field a lot, not a whole lot of research.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I'm just gonna do it off the top here, all right.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Number eighteen Indiana. I think similar to you I saw, Okay,
- 17:12Speaker 4: I did this three tiered here. This bottom tier is
- 17:15Speaker 4: eighteen through twelve. It's the ass tier. I think all
- 17:18Speaker 4: these teams are gonna suck. I think these all there's
- 17:23Speaker 4: I don't think anyone makes a bowl game on these
- 17:26Speaker 4: up to twelve. Okay, so Indiana's gonna be awful. I
- 17:29Speaker 4: like you said, they haven't had done anything since Michael
- 17:32Speaker 4: Pennix got a brand new coach. I don't. I think
- 17:36Speaker 4: it's to be a long time to leave me sniff
- 17:38Speaker 4: a ball game next one Michigan State. When you were talking,
- 17:43Speaker 4: I thought about I probably surely put them higher because
- 17:46Speaker 4: they did fight hard at the end for that new coach.
- 17:48Speaker 4: I think they were just dumb mel Tucker, But I
- 17:53Speaker 4: still don't think they have the talent yet.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Bill.
- 17:56Speaker 4: They're only come up though a little bit U se La.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Now they're terrible team. He's spawn a three. Might might
- 18:07Speaker 4: not even win more than three games next to Northwestern
- 18:11Speaker 4: new coach. Their team that always could sneak up on people,
- 18:17Speaker 4: I guess, but I don't see it this year. They
- 18:21Speaker 4: The thing with them is their max is always seven
- 18:23Speaker 4: to eight wins, and I guess they didn't make a
- 18:26Speaker 4: big than championship a couple of years ago. But I
- 18:29Speaker 4: don't know. I don't think they're gonna be very good Maryland,
- 18:32Speaker 4: all right, I gotta ask you guys, is to Layo
- 18:35Speaker 4: whatever his name is, he back.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Nope, he's not.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, that's why I thought he So he's gone.
- 18:44Speaker 4: He was basically the only reason why they were even
- 18:46Speaker 4: decent last year. So he's gone. I don't know, I
- 18:52Speaker 4: don't I don't see them really doing anything without him.
- 18:54Speaker 4: He carried their team to six seven wins last year.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Nexcellent Illinois Beilima. They always have and he's always sneaky.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I just think that they have the talent to compete.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Who knows, though, he could always pull something that was
- 19:11Speaker 4: ass and put put a good team together, and then
- 19:14Speaker 4: we got Purdue. I actually think they're gonna be decent
- 19:17Speaker 4: this year. I like cuttson cards quite a bit. Their
- 19:21Speaker 4: defense was not off or it was better last year
- 19:25Speaker 4: than the year before, So that's getting better. I don't know.
- 19:30Speaker 4: I could see them sneaking up higher than what we think. Actually.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Next one, Iowa, do you see me hook the horns?
- 19:38Speaker 1: No huts in card Iowa?
- 19:42Speaker 4: At eleven he went to Texas. Yeah, he was the backup.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Remember he played against Alabama.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Though, I sadly I think he's actually decent
- 19:53Speaker 4: for Purdue, all right. Next one Iowa. This is solely
- 19:58Speaker 4: off of did you guys see Cade McNamara's stat line
- 20:01Speaker 4: in the scrimmage gam No. Seven to twenty one, no
- 20:06Speaker 4: touchdowns in a pick in the scrimmage last Saturday. So
- 20:12Speaker 4: maybe Deacon Hill's the option there. Who knows. I hope
- 20:15Speaker 4: that they get dead last than Big ten and they
- 20:17Speaker 4: shut down the program. The worst team ever to watch,
- 20:19Speaker 4: all right, that's in Minnesota. They're gonna be totally different
- 20:25Speaker 4: offense they had. They had AK four to seven last
- 20:28Speaker 4: year and then Tanner Morgan year before, just two drop
- 20:31Speaker 4: back passers. Now they have a running quarterback, so it'll
- 20:33Speaker 4: be completely different. It'll be good change up. I guess
- 20:36Speaker 4: yah they're doing. They're always good at wide receiver, their
- 20:39Speaker 4: defense always saw. I think they're pretty much guaranteed six
- 20:42Speaker 4: seven wins with PJ Fleck every year. Next one Rutgers,
- 20:46Speaker 4: which I thought about putting higher too. They their schedule
- 20:50Speaker 4: is so easy, like you said, I and I actually
- 20:55Speaker 4: I like their quarterback lot I cannot think what his
- 20:57Speaker 4: name is. God damn it, Yeah, you.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Just says name with mint Oh gallig manis no. AK
- 21:11Speaker 2: forty seven transfer.
- 21:14Speaker 4: He's not starting over with smidt.
- 21:16Speaker 1: They said they don't know yet.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Wow. Okay, well that'd be a mistake anyway. Okay, I'm
- 21:23Speaker 4: doing this off with mint start. I think it can
- 21:25Speaker 4: force even sucks. But their schedule is so easy. I
- 21:29Speaker 4: don't think you got to be that good a team
- 21:31Speaker 4: to win eight games last schedule next one USC not
- 21:38Speaker 4: much explaining here. I don't think Lincoln was gond coach Washington.
- 21:43Speaker 4: After that, they lost a lot. I still think their talents.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I think they have enough talent to be good this year.
- 21:54Speaker 4: I don't know. I probably I probably should have put
- 21:58Speaker 4: washed it a little bit lower, but they lost so much.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Screw it all right, Nebraska number six. I think that's
- 22:06Speaker 4: another thing. Their schedules so easy. This all depends on
- 22:09Speaker 4: Ryola two. If he's super good, he could you could
- 22:12Speaker 4: easily move him in the top five. If he sucks, you
- 22:14Speaker 4: could drop down around that. Illinois, Maryland, Northwestern Point. It's
- 22:19Speaker 4: all about that. I think your defense still gonna be solid.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I don't. I think your offensive line is a big
- 22:27Speaker 4: thing too. I don't think it's gonna be as bad
- 22:28Speaker 4: as what everyone says. It's awful in the cultural ball game,
- 22:32Speaker 4: but way, okay, Wisconsin number five, I think I'm big
- 22:37Speaker 4: on Tyler Van Dyke. I know he sucked last year
- 22:39Speaker 4: in Miami. Before that, though, he was super good. I
- 22:43Speaker 4: think he just got intoed last year. And I think
- 22:46Speaker 4: Luke Fickle is gonna bring it out in him. I
- 22:50Speaker 4: don't know he felt he fell part of Miami. I
- 22:53Speaker 4: think he is the third best quarterback in Big Ten.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Next one, Penn State. I'm not as high on Sean
- 23:02Speaker 4: Clifford as everybody else is. Oh my God, not Sean Clifford.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Jesus Lord, Drew Allard. Okay, Sean, that's about two years ago.
- 23:17Speaker 4: I'm not big. I'm not as big on him. I
- 23:18Speaker 4: don't think. I don't think he's that good of a
- 23:23Speaker 4: quarterback like pastor everybody so high on him. He reminds
- 23:26Speaker 4: me of God, damn it, who was the guy that
- 23:28Speaker 4: had a couple of years ago, Christian Hackenberg. Sean Clifford.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Shaan Cliffer is better than I think Sean Cliffer is
- 23:35Speaker 4: better than these two. I And then you got James Franklin.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Can't win a big game save his life. So that's
- 23:41Speaker 4: that's about their max is four every year. Next toll
- 23:44Speaker 4: Ohio State. I don't I don't think Ryan Day is
- 23:50Speaker 4: a good coach either. That dude got handed everything, he
- 23:53Speaker 4: has nothing anything with it. I think Michigan still owns
- 23:56Speaker 4: them and will continue on them. Then we got shegain
- 24:00Speaker 4: number two. I don't think they're I don't think people
- 24:07Speaker 4: think they're me bad. But I think they're gonna be
- 24:09Speaker 4: better than people are saying because they still got Donovan Edwards.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I know they lot JJ McCarthy a lot on defense
- 24:18Speaker 4: and their coach, but but how that interim coach came
- 24:21Speaker 4: in bid ohoose date, So I don't think the coaching
- 24:23Speaker 4: is that big of a deal. Losing Harbob excell Oregon.
- 24:28Speaker 4: They are absolutely stacked for sure on offense. Their defense
- 24:32Speaker 4: is okay, that's all They're gonna need that offense. And
- 24:35Speaker 4: you got my boy dg run the ship. He's won
- 24:36Speaker 4: of the best Quarterbacks Nation.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Well, I'm just gonna say this, it's so hard to
- 24:45Speaker 1: sit here and listen to DAK and not comment because
- 24:48Speaker 1: you just make some so many bold, just random comments,
- 24:51Speaker 1: and I'm just like, what the hell Tyler Van best
- 24:55Speaker 1: quarterback in the Big ten?
- 24:57Speaker 4: He is?
- 24:59Speaker 3: Well, you got Will Howard and Dylan Gabriel ahead of him. No,
- 25:03Speaker 3: who are the other two.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, it was Yeah, Will Howard and him.
- 25:07Speaker 3: What about USC's quarterback? I can't think of his.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Name, Nope, I mean that who else would you?
- 25:17Speaker 2: Gold Meyer, Hudson, car Dylan, Kate McNamara.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Kate mccamary, even gonna start, he'll start. I'm gonna go
- 25:30Speaker 4: back and watch the highlight tape tonight about scrimmage and
- 25:33Speaker 4: I'll report back to you guys, how that was.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Awesome either comments.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Gosh, I feel like you're really highing Purdue and I
- 25:46Speaker 3: think their schedule is not great.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you going off your gut, I think. I mean
- 25:57Speaker 2: it's not a bad thing, right. I mean, research can
- 25:59Speaker 2: do some for you. But with my research and.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Just a little little research, not much.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I got some different opinions here from you.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Do plays Notre Dame, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oregon, Northwestern, Ohio State,
- 26:14Speaker 3: Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, and based off your rankings,
- 26:19Speaker 3: they would be Indiana, Michigan State, and Northwestern.
- 26:23Speaker 4: I haven't run a ball game they could.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Oh, I think anyone in that basically eight seven to
- 26:33Speaker 3: seven to fifteen market play.
- 26:35Speaker 4: A ball game every tiving the bottom teams, because some
- 26:39Speaker 4: one of those teams could go winless.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I think those bottom three suck ass, Like there's nowhere
- 26:46Speaker 4: around that.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah, well we'll see all.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Yeah you go. I'm still digesting this.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I can't read my notes because my lightings like orange
- 27:05Speaker 2: in here. I wrote an orange pen, so that was
- 27:07Speaker 2: kind of dumb. Speaking of Purdue, I had them at
- 27:10Speaker 2: the bottom. I also part of my research was their
- 27:13Speaker 2: win totals. I didn't go solely off of that, but
- 27:17Speaker 2: I did look at that Purdue has the lowest win
- 27:18Speaker 2: total three and a half. So Dak he should be
- 27:21Speaker 2: going to the casino and hammer in the harbor. Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 2: Hudson card quarterback Makaby's back at running backs since like
- 27:31Speaker 2: he's been there forever. Walter's their head coach second year.
- 27:36Speaker 2: If he's a defensive guy from Illinois. That's why Illinois
- 27:41Speaker 2: defense is so good a couple of years ago. If
- 27:43Speaker 2: he can implement that here in year two, then Purdue
- 27:48Speaker 2: is gonna climb this list. Like all those teams you
- 27:50Speaker 2: just mentioned are all teams that they are gonna need
- 27:53Speaker 2: to win to be above this, and I think they can,
- 27:56Speaker 2: but I just don't know if they're great.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Right above them.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I had Indiana and I'm gonna laugh because we're probably
- 28:04Speaker 2: gonna go out to Bloomington and lose because I'm going
- 28:08Speaker 2: to the game. But here they are curse Signetti. I
- 28:15Speaker 2: think here's why I have him so low. I think
- 28:18Speaker 2: he did what Scott frosted at Big ten media Days
- 28:21Speaker 2: and just put a giant target on his back and
- 28:23Speaker 2: everyone's going to come out and beat the shit out
- 28:25Speaker 2: of them after. I can't remember the exact words, but
- 28:28Speaker 2: basically saying that don't judge based off last year, blah
- 28:32Speaker 2: blah blah, We're here to do our thing, and I
- 28:35Speaker 2: don't know, basically it was arrogant and trying to build
- 28:38Speaker 2: confidence in his team. But I think it's gonna come
- 28:39Speaker 2: back to backfire. That's why I kept them so low. Northwestern,
- 28:44Speaker 2: I have here at sixteen, don't know who their quarterback is.
- 28:47Speaker 2: They do return seven on defense, David Brown comes back.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I just think it's going to be a little longer
- 28:53Speaker 2: for them to if they even can rebuild their Fitzgerald
- 29:00Speaker 2: I think with a big.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Reason why they hung around and were so good.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I think I just I've always liked Fitzgerald as a
- 29:05Speaker 2: coach there went till this five and a half. I
- 29:08Speaker 2: think again, if things pieced together, well, I think they
- 29:12Speaker 2: could be better than that. But right now I have
- 29:14Speaker 2: them sixteen fifteen. I have the Bruins. Yes, I have
- 29:22Speaker 2: the Bruins similar reasons that you guys had. Charon Moore
- 29:26Speaker 2: has not been a head coach yet. I think that's
- 29:28Speaker 2: gonna be pretty evident, especially coming to the Big Ten,
- 29:32Speaker 2: where a lot of it is about game management, ball control.
- 29:36Speaker 2: I do think the Pac twelve teams are going to
- 29:38Speaker 2: bring a little bit of a different element to the
- 29:41Speaker 2: Big Ten. But this is one team that I think
- 29:43Speaker 2: it's going to take a long time to adapt and
- 29:46Speaker 2: I just don't see them being good. I mean, Austin
- 29:48Speaker 2: you had them last. I don't think that's out of
- 29:51Speaker 2: the realm of possibility. But again, Ucla I think could
- 29:55Speaker 2: be okay. They're gonna have California athletes, but they they
- 30:00Speaker 2: lost a lot, a lot of guys transferred out. And
- 30:02Speaker 2: also all the Big Ten teams are gonna want to
- 30:04Speaker 2: travel to LA and go to the Rose Bowl for
- 30:07Speaker 2: those games, so UCLA doesn't get any fans there to
- 30:09Speaker 2: begin with. They're really not gonna have many home games. Yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 2: that's enough on UCLA fourteen. This is a last minute
- 30:20Speaker 2: change right before the pod. It actually c lins up
- 30:23Speaker 2: with dak Is Maryland. I like Mike Loxley as a
- 30:27Speaker 2: head coach, but I do think their offense was sprung
- 30:31Speaker 2: by Tegavailoa. They have to get a new quarterback, they
- 30:34Speaker 2: have to get a new running back, they have to
- 30:35Speaker 2: replace four offensive linemen.
- 30:37Speaker 1: They did not have a great defense last year or
- 30:40Speaker 1: the year before that. They're known to score points. I
- 30:42Speaker 1: think there's that lack of continuity that's gonna hurt. So
- 30:46Speaker 1: I moved them down last minute.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Spartans are who I got next at thirteen. There's a
- 30:55Speaker 2: completely new offensive line there, so I don't love that
- 30:58Speaker 2: they did get a ton of transfers. I have them
- 31:01Speaker 2: ahead of some of these other first year coaches because
- 31:03Speaker 2: I do think Jonathan Smith has potential to be better
- 31:06Speaker 2: than them. I think what he did at Oregon State
- 31:08Speaker 2: was pretty impressive. He had a pretty decent offensive style
- 31:12Speaker 2: out there. But I think we'll bring a new twist
- 31:14Speaker 2: to the Big Ten. It's going to be kind of
- 31:16Speaker 2: a mix of run the ball, throw the ball, and
- 31:19Speaker 2: I think it'll be a little bit tough to prepare for.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So I have Michigan State a little higher than you
- 31:23Speaker 2: guys did. At twelve, here's where I got the Washington Huskies.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And I didn't realize this until I was listening doing research. Guys,
- 31:36Speaker 2: they lost everybody they have.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I think I.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Heard two returning starters from last year's team on both
- 31:44Speaker 2: sides of the ball. Combined, they a lot of guys transfer.
- 31:49Speaker 2: They did get guys to transfer, and Will Rogers will
- 31:51Speaker 2: be their quarterback. I think that's a positive for them.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Jed Fish coming from Arizona, I think they're also going
- 31:57Speaker 2: to just struggle coming over to the Big ten, just
- 31:59Speaker 2: like you cla As I mentioned. It's funny they make
- 32:03Speaker 2: the playoffs, but they're all gone. Everybody's gone everybody, so
- 32:08Speaker 2: it's gonna be a complete reset. I do think they
- 32:11Speaker 2: can still beat some of these teams here at the bottom,
- 32:13Speaker 2: but I don't.
- 32:14Speaker 1: They're still toss ups. Are a little bit of a
- 32:16Speaker 1: toss up for me. At eleven.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Is where I bring in Brett Bielima and Illinois. They
- 32:27Speaker 2: got to figure their defense out and get it back
- 32:29Speaker 2: to where it was a couple of years ago. Luke Altmeyer,
- 32:32Speaker 2: I think is they're gonna go on offenses.
- 32:34Speaker 1: He goes.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I think he's got some talent so I do think
- 32:39Speaker 2: they could be okay. They do run the ball a lot.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I do like Beilama as a coach. I think he
- 32:44Speaker 2: understands a big ten. I like them in games against Wisconer, Washington, Ucla,
- 32:48Speaker 2: even USC like.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I like them.
- 32:50Speaker 2: I don't even know if they play them, but I
- 32:53Speaker 2: like them in those spots. At ten, I got Minnesota PJ. Fleck,
- 33:05Speaker 2: I think could be on the hot seat getting there. Potentially,
- 33:09Speaker 2: we'll see, but I think they're gonna win seven games.
- 33:11Speaker 2: They do return eight guys on defense, Max brosmer Dak
- 33:15Speaker 2: you mentioned him coming run even quarterback. They are turned
- 33:18Speaker 2: four offensive lineman continuity. They're important for me at number nine.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Here's where I drop us. Here's the deal with us.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think we have better talent than a lot of
- 33:33Speaker 2: these teams. It's can we not turn the ball over?
- 33:35Speaker 2: It's can we game manage. I think we're better than
- 33:38Speaker 2: these teams talent wise, but in the past we have
- 33:40Speaker 2: not shown to consistently beat them. But I still think
- 33:43Speaker 2: it's deserving it to put us at nine, especially with Rayola,
- 33:45Speaker 2: who again, we can't get worse at quarterback. Eight Chiano
- 33:52Speaker 2: Scarlet Knights, Rutgers. We all had them pretty high. Maybe
- 33:56Speaker 2: that's something we should be looking at a little bit
- 33:58Speaker 2: at the casinos. But their win total, I forgot to
- 34:02Speaker 2: do this for the rest of the teams, but they're
- 34:03Speaker 2: six and a half win total. I like their over
- 34:05Speaker 2: big time. Their schedule's cake. I think if it plays
- 34:09Speaker 2: out right, they could have a chance to even making
- 34:11Speaker 2: the title game if they win some of their games.
- 34:15Speaker 1: At they're fifty to fifty end so and that's one
- 34:18Speaker 1: of those.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Being Nebraska seven. Let's see, I'm gonna go USC. I
- 34:28Speaker 2: think they're gonna have a little bit of a shock.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Like these other PAC twelve teams, I think physicality might
- 34:36Speaker 2: be an issue. I just see them going around seven
- 34:39Speaker 2: to five, eight and four. I think their win totals
- 34:41Speaker 2: YEP at seven and a half, right above them.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I have Wisconsin. I don't know.
- 34:51Speaker 2: For some reason, I always think Wisconsin's better than they
- 34:55Speaker 2: probably are probably another eight eight win team Luke Fickle.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I still think they just stuck to more of the
- 35:00Speaker 2: run game because they're known for they lose Braylan Allen,
- 35:04Speaker 2: but I think they have chess and the lucy back.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Van Dyke. We'll see experiment Dak.
- 35:11Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm as high as you are
- 35:13Speaker 2: on him at number five, visit the Iowahaw guys. Schedules cake.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Their offense cannot get worse. Defense is really solid. That's
- 35:27Speaker 2: why mcnamarow is seven for twenty one. DAC is because
- 35:29Speaker 2: they're playing against a damn good defense. So Iowa at five.
- 35:34Speaker 2: At four, Michigan lost a lot more than I think
- 35:41Speaker 2: everybody realizes. Donovan Edwards, yes is back. Can Orgy throw
- 35:47Speaker 2: the ball? Alex Orgy their quarterback and they don't even
- 35:50Speaker 2: know if he's starting. They're going to have to run
- 35:52Speaker 2: the ball a lot. They return zero zero zero offensive
- 35:56Speaker 2: lineman At three Penn State and Indie Lyons.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You mentioned it.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Drew Howler is a key for them. They're a ten
- 36:05Speaker 2: win team. I mean, that's just what they do every year.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I think they'll probably have a chance to squeaking in
- 36:09Speaker 2: the playoffs. Tom Allen's their new decordinator comes over from Indiana.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I think they have a solid running back. Their offensive
- 36:18Speaker 2: coordinator this year new coordinator came from Kansas. Here's where
- 36:21Speaker 2: I have different than you guys, and I feel pretty
- 36:24Speaker 2: good about it. I got Ohio State one, and the
- 36:30Speaker 2: only thing that scares me on that is. There might
- 36:33Speaker 2: be a little pressure for Ryan Day this year obviously
- 36:37Speaker 2: for not beating Michigan. I think they're gonna get that done.
- 36:39Speaker 2: They return a crap ton nine starters on defense, plus
- 36:44Speaker 2: added three starters in the portal their turn four offensive
- 36:47Speaker 2: line starters, Will Howard coming in quarterback. You guys know
- 36:51Speaker 2: I'm a big Will Howard fan. Their biggest transfer head
- 36:54Speaker 2: is the offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly, stealing them from UCLA.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I just think Ohio States prime to make a run.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Oregon I do think is gonna be solid. I think
- 37:04Speaker 2: they're just gonna I think they're gonna slip up in
- 37:06Speaker 2: a game to a traditional Big Ten team that they shouldn't.
- 37:10Speaker 2: I know I went over my time, but we got
- 37:13Speaker 2: a little bit of discussion.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Uh, we all have the same top half except for
- 37:21Speaker 3: dak who has USC and Iowa have Iowa out of
- 37:25Speaker 3: the top half and Washington.
- 37:31Speaker 4: But I take I might be higher and washing Now
- 37:35Speaker 4: I take back when I said about Van Dyke mean
- 37:37Speaker 4: top Will Rogers adopted the quarterback in LinkedIn great.
- 37:43Speaker 1: They lost every other player on their team from last year.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not great. We'll see. I guess.
- 37:54Speaker 1: That will be interesting.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I think just there's a lot of similarities, but I
- 37:59Speaker 2: think there's some different teams here, and we can highlight
- 38:01Speaker 2: that as we get in the Nebraska schedule. Next episode,
- 38:05Speaker 2: we will do a ranking of our twelve games of importance.
- 38:11Speaker 2: We had some very differing opinions from last year. Some
- 38:15Speaker 2: are right somewhere wrong, so we'll get to that next week.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Go Begret, CVR, remember sooner.
