- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Are you loyal to a fault?
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like this comes up for a lot of high achievers.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're associating like loyalty with strength.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so like I need to stick this out.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a loyal person.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want like approval.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do what I'm saying I'm going to do.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: But it might just be that it's time to recalibrate.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the Beat till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm also Logan, Ply's instructor, and fit this business coach.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_03]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, be it babe.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, this is amazing.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: This interview is amazing.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_03]: Get your pen and paper out.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: You're also going to absolutely want something that she is offering you at the end.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I mean it in like those who like a journal, you're going to like this, like a like a like a planner, Molly asked when is our guest and she is an incredible coach for high achieving women, which is very different.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: We talk about them over achieving.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: We talk about burnout.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: We talk about prioritization of self.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: I really loved how she presented burnout and pires in yourself and like ways to do it.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: It's different than I know we talk about a lot here, but it's different than we've ever talked about it.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I really am excited for you to hear this.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: I absolutely think you're going to share it with a friend.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: There are some definite signs your friend is going to need this.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: And so I'm just going to let us get into it.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_03]: Here's Molly Asplan.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, be it babe.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: I am super excited for today's combo because when I was looking over like, well, we could talk about I was like, oh, yeah, preventing burnout.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm well, we're all in.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, I just had literally had someone ask me how do you know you need to rest and I was like,
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: If you were waiting till you need to rest to dig a rest, we have a problem.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: But our guest today is Molly Asflin.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_03]: And she is amazing.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: Molly, can you tell when who you are and what you rock at?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy to be here, Leslie.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a high performance coach.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I, too, am a recovering perfectionist, workaholic.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I have beat burnout a few different times.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so I very much connect with what you're what your friend just asked you.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: feel like there could be something more or something different in their life.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: I spent 10 years in corporate finance and was sort of driving to work every morning feeling like is this really it and I feel like there's something different for me and I was getting promoted and moving up in the company and stuff, but I'm like this.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't feel like me and so I had to make some hard decisions that sort of felt guilty for me at the time because I'm like, this is what I'm supposed to be doing.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is what looks really good on paper.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's responsible.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: But then I pivoted and created my own coaching business and now I really help women just find what they're good at and what they really feel like they have a strength in and either pivot in that direction.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: or like do something fulfilling on the side that brings more of that into their life.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: It might be a career transition or it might just be stepping into more alignment with who they are.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: I love this journey because I feel it feels very familiar.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: I also want to just like a couple things I want to put on.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: There's a very different to an over-cheaver and a high-achiever, right?
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like high-achiebing is not this thing that you have to stop being or you should feel bad about over-chiebing is kind of like when we do a little we don't know when enough is enough.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: like overcompensating, right?
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: I also, I also really liked, you know, like we all go on kind of a journey and you talked about like burnout.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: Like, can you maybe share like what burnout looked like for you?
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because I think it's a little, I think it's actually very similar for a lot of people.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's just different clothes, but maybe
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I was not having like panic attacks or anything like that.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: I started to feel very restless And I started to feel like my days were very monotonous and boring I'll even say and I started to feel like I was losing my edge and I'm like am I just like not?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: ambitious anymore or like what's going on here.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, you hear like the rat race or the hamster wheel, like that all felt very real to me.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just like, yeah, is this really it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so for me, it came in the form of like very mundane, like, I don't think I can do this my whole life.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then it led me to like question my ambition when really I just needed a change.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think you, because I do think people are expecting the burnout to be a panic attack, they're in bed, they can't do anything, and it can actually be that you could be showing up every day to work, but bored and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: I guess like so how do you go from like recognizing that you're burnt out to knowing like what pools to help you know because like do think it's a real question people like how like what how do you prioritize how do you not burn out and it's like some of the obvious questions are like well get sleep and drink some water but also like where do you start because once you're in the ditch it's kind of hard to know where to how to like climb out of it.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it's interesting Leslie because as a high achiever and probably some of your listeners can relate to this, I was like, oh, well, I just need to get the next promotion or like I just need a different job like I start I just like looked outside of myself and I did some of those things, but then nothing was fixing the problem.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like a few months later, I was like back in the same cycle and so I realized like I need to go inward on this and I need to figure out like what's really important to Molly.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's really when I'm when I'm my own journey of like self discovery and I started getting more into personal development.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: I started taking care of myself a lot better.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, sleep, water, working out.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: I like started carving out time for myself in the morning, journaling.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: And those things sound cliche, but like when you, I think there is a compound effect with them.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: And for me, it was probably like after six months of doing that.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like,
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I, I'm going to make a transition of some sort and like I'm going to do thing something that's like way more aligned with my strengths and skills that I really want to use.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, I am getting to like taking that time to like who is whistlessly who is Molly like I don't I'm sure most of us haven't taken the time to do that since we were like a child and even then when did you have the time except when like you're a little kid and they're like okay what colors you're hair like you're practicing
- 6:52[SPEAKER_03]: He mentioned like all the singing of their promotion.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have to say no like I'm so I'm so Yeah, such a high achiever.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like they're going to offer me this gig and I'm not going to I don't know how to say no, so I'm just going to quit
- 7:07[SPEAKER_03]: That's hilarious.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: But well, in high achievers, that does come up.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, I wish I would just get laid off.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them will tell that to me, because they're like, I don't want to do this anymore, but like, I'm not going to decide to do it.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they wish they would kind of be forced out.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's, here's a sign.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a big sign.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big one.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so then now that you have gone to the burn out, you've gone to the other side.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: You obviously help people with this.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: looking back like what are some things that maybe we could see as like orange flags before the red flag of board or you know for some people panic attacks like what are some signs that like we're a little bit getting close to the tank is empty.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is a big one and usually once I name it, people are like, oh, yeah, I'm doing that or I have done that and it's, are you loyal to a fault, like this comes up for a lot of high achievers, they're associating like loyalty with strength and so like I need to stick this out, I'm a loyal person, I want like approval, I do what I'm saying I'm going to do.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: But it might just be that it's time to recalibrate.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was a big one for me, like loyalty to a fault fault.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you find yourself defending what you're doing more than you're enjoying it.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: But like defending me and like you're complaining about it a lot and you're like, but it's really flexible.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: But your life is.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I'm by the way, this is not your jobs.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: Just two ladies, like sometimes this is your friends or your family members or your boyfriend or your partner.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's so true.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're kind of like now that I'm saying it, hopefully it brings awareness to it, but you'll notice like, wow, I'm really like kind of complaining about this, but then I'm justifying it.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's just time to take the facts for the facts and change.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, oh, that's a good one.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I see that in so many people.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I definitely can remember when I was doing it with the job that like, I was good at.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I probably had I taken that promotion would still be there and I'd make good money and have a very secure In air quotes, ish job, but I would I think I would have been bored, but I I remember defending oh, but like they have really good health insurance or oh But I get to work around these people.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I'm learning a lot.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's like yeah at the all at the same time I'm also not sleeping because I'm so stressed out all the time
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like it's flexible, but you're not sleeping.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a problem.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not really flexible.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I love those, those are some good orange or in just flags.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_03]: Or just some reflection, things to be thinking about.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess like when you were on your journey, was it because you were hired to you for a new had success, what you were doing it just was not exactly, it was like all there, is this all there is?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: What was it like to make the switch?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_03]: Was there uncertainty, how did you like,
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because I feel like a lot of people, the biggest problem with switching to something new is that like, well, now I'm a beginner.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: But over here, I'm an advanced expert.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's hard to be a beginner again.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I'm a pretty risk of our person.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like my background is accounting.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm very analytical.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so I didn't like make big changes by like blowing
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: I did it in a more thoughtful way, which I think a lot of people do relate with.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so what I recommend is starting to take some bold moves like while you're in the mundane, the stock, the orange flags, or the red flags, but you can start to make some bold moves and usually you know what those are.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, usually everyone kind of knows like, oh, yeah, I should probably start like networking or talking with Leslie about something or talking with my, you know, friend who is another high achiever or I should make a phone call or I should update my resume or I should start doing Pilates or like you usually kind of.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: to know that like next bold move.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not usually like I'm going to quit my job tomorrow for most people.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can get in the habit of making one bold courageous move at a day, I do think it like keeps the stock away.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, and also, like, if you think about that in 30 and a month of 30 days, that's 30 bold moves.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of amazing.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think we have to do 5 or 10 and that's impossible and keep the stuck away.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I hope you make a sticker of that.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_03]: So this kind of brings me to something that you're like really known for, which is like being her now, which is obviously a very be it, tell you see it kind of a thing, right?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Some of the people I know they're like, they just want, they want to just like cut it and go all the way over.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: They don't want it.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: You know, but I'm always of the, I'm, I'm also risk a burst because I didn't, I'm not an accountant by any means and I'm sure I've ever listened or already knows that, but
- 11:55[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather have a runway and like, you know, it's like a slowly like, yeah, a little bit of a plan and also like, okay, as I have this over here, I can like go over this over here and as this over here, I can like go and then I can make a leap right like I don't have to have the bridge fully built, but just enough that I can jump off of it and land on my own two feet would be really great.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm a big fan of a lot of people have a hard time because they're like,
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I, I don't want to do this anymore.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: I want to do this over here.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: So to me, the being her now would kind of help with that like this, I don't know what it 100%.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you need to like practice and start acting as if and walking into that right away, you don't need.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Likely, another degree, you don't need more credentials, you don't need more proof, you don't need more time.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you really do have to start embodying that and showing up at it.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: As it, and I've had to do that in every big transition or pivot, it's like, well, I got to just step into it and start acting like that, showing up like that.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then, it's kind of weird, Leslie, you've experienced, I'm sure, and then all the sudden it, like, matches.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, oh, I'm living out what I kind of wanted to live out.
- 13:08[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's really, I mean, it's really true.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, if you're someone who's like, well, when I have this, then I'll be less busy.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, well, if you were less busy, what is something like, where the things you would do at that time?
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: And then like, how can you, oh, I would go for a walk around my neighborhood with my dog.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_03]: Well, how can you just walk up to the sidewalk and back?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: like how can you just start to put that in place and all of a sudden you know is that kind of it like it's like doing some of the things that that person would be doing some of the things like all have women say like well I would really like to start a podcast someday and I'm like well why don't you just start the podcast
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I guess I could.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like we're waiting for something to arrive when you literally can start it now.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: And if that scares you, you're like, I don't have editor.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_03]: You could just go live on something.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you could just, you could even like make it smart.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_03]: Just go live, start going live and then save the recording so that you have a push.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: So when you're ready, you know, here's another great tactical example, Leslie, I have a high performance client just got a great corporate job and she's like, I really want to get into the self development space and speak and train and I'm like,
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you practice doing that in said corporate job now?
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, she's always like leading meetings and things.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, oh yeah, I guess I guess I could.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's like practice the skill and just like elevating yourself in whatever environment you can right now.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: Because you're going to need that practice for the big stage later anyway.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_03]: Well, because I mean like, and I love this and it's going to sound like common sense to bit when we say that lab, but also I think we all need to hear it.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_03]: When you see someone speak on stage, that's not the first stage they spoke on.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: They spoke on stages that were much smaller.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_03]: They spoke on stage with one person.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: They, you know, they did, they did the thing before they got invited to the big stage.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: So you definitely don't want your first invite to be the biggest stage you've ever been on.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_03]: So starting with the audience or the pond you have is a great way to be in her now and getting that experience.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_03]: 100%.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_03]: So okay, other ways that you, because if you are busy as an accountant, you're high cheaper and promoted all these things, what are some of the ways that you actually made time for being her now to what that like merge into what you're doing now?
- 15:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like, was there some sort of, did you have a whole day to work on this thing?
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: Or did you do pockets of time?
- 15:32[SPEAKER_03]: How did you make this work?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think if you can, I mean, my accounting job was like, you know, nine to five typically and I started like book ending my day with more of the things that I wanted like for for me that was my coaching business and so I would definitely get up before corporate job and start kind of doing some of these things that I've building my social media and like growing my network that kind of thing and then same thing like in the evening and I still I still do this now with like
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: sort of extracurriculars that I want to pursue, but yeah, I think you've got to look at what what you need to do in that season to like pay the bills or, you know, keep the job or whatever, you can still do a good job at that while you start to create something else.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I kind of I also like the idea of bookending it because.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_03]: Then you get to start your day with something you want and then you go to work yeah you go to work and you aren't thinking about oh I got to that thing on my lunch break I did that thing and like you've already done some stuff you've like kicked the ball into another court or move the needle a little bit and then you get to end your day with that which makes you get out of said job on time so that you can go to the
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: I got a lot more effective at my full-time job during that season because I was like, let's do what I need to do at work so that I can get home and build the other thing that I'm excited to build.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: And then I would always rocket like Saturday morning, Sunday mornings.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like, when something is yours and it's your baby or you're wanting to develop it or try something new, I really think you are excited to do it.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's like, oh, it's other obligation.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: pivot or this change like let's see what I can do.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think like if you're going to do something else, we're going to add one more thing to your plate.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_03]: You really have to, it does need to be energizing, so that's a sign to me, but like it's definitely something you're wanting to do if it's actually bringing you energy versus like if it is, it's like another thing that feels boring, you're probably doing some that sounds good versus something you want to be doing.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: We know that the recovery and overchievers, the higher achievers, the perfectionists, there's this whole busy badge of honor or like I'm so burnt out.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's this mentality almost of like bragging, you know, like for a long time it used to be that the there's a
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: the tech bros and the sea of bros like I only do two hours of sleep like this is like bragging of like how little they took care of themselves but I actually think I'm like on the other set is like a lot of people with weight like bragging about burnout as if like they've achieved something and and then we all go oh I know and like we don't go wow that is probably not great what's going on so how do you know where that we do that isn't yeah like we don't bad and I were like oh yeah same business yes I guess like almost like cheering it on
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: What is wrong?
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: How do you prevent that?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: I know, it's really weird.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if it's like that in other countries.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I feel like I have friends in Europe and they're like, y'all.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you Americans are kind of weird.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why are you all celebrating that?
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: But it is the problem, Leslie, and I think when you actually look at the research,
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: A higher performance is driven by like a similar cadence doesn't athlete, like you can sprint and you can run and you can train hard, but then you better have a recovery day to like reset recalibrate get your creativity back.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and so there's like very much the research is there on like you've got to take like a on a weekly basis a weekly break and on a monthly basis another break and on a you know on yearly basis the annual vacation like periods of recharge are really important for a high performer and you can probably think of people in your life who do that really well and you will start to notice their energy.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, yeah, she's not talking about burnout and she's like crushing it and getting her stuff done and going to bed and appears to be a great mom, you know, like you can kind of start to notice it on people and I started to observe that and I'm like that's the edge I want I don't want like the tired depleted bags under my eyes like I want a vibrant awesome life and that means like I need a rest and take care of myself and recharge and I can also pick ass on Monday.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: One of the calls I had today that Carl asked, like, how do you know you need a rest?
- 20:05[SPEAKER_03]: We can be talked about this meeting.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like,
- 20:08[SPEAKER_03]: I do things for myself every single day.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't have to wait until my body shuts down to rest.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's actually like, that's like your car, like if you go all the way down to zero, all the time, you're actually going to ruin some tubes and other things like that, right?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_03]: So you had a before it's empty, you got to fill it back up.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_03]: And someone goes every day.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's what they unmuted today.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_03]: Every time I'm like, yeah, every day.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think that I'm crazy.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_03]: Now,
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: I can, I might be more luxurious with my time because I don't have certain responsibilities that other people have, but every single day, I'm doing something so that I'm actually before I need a rest, taking care of myself.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that that goes to that preventing that burnout badge is like,
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think we actually need to stop going, oh, yeah, you're burnt out.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: Me too.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_03]: And start going, whoa, what are you doing for yourself?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what if we all, all as friends, start going, oh, what are you going to do to keep that from happening tomorrow?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's another way to say that is like, how are you sustaining?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I had a client who's just like, my goal is to like, she was a realtor and kicking butt and she's like, I want to sustain my energy through all the seasons.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: and I don't want to get to the end of the busy season and feel like I didn't take care of myself and now my health took a back burner.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I've seen people like Leslie, you have a crap ton of responsibilities.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of response.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: I have three young kids like I just don't think it's selfish to like carve out the time that I need to then be a better mom and a better business owner.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's not.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I also just heard a gentleman say this.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, Oh, that's fascinating.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: He was saying he's like some some business owner very successful.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, when people tell me that they're so busy.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: And immediately makes me not want to give opportunities to them because it's showing me they can't handle what they have in their life.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why would I give them more?
- 22:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I do think that that's really interesting.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I have I had someone go, Oh, I know you're really busy.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, Oh, who told you that?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: And they're like, what?
- 22:12[SPEAKER_03]: Just seems like you're really busy.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: Just seems like you're really busy.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_03]: I said, oh, I have a lot going on.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_03]: But I feel great.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: And then we'll get made.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, look at my two heads.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, I'm like, intentional about bringing that up.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm like, one, we make assumptions about a lot of people.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: And then two,
- 22:29[SPEAKER_03]: We, you know, I have a full schedule, but it's full of things that I've chosen to you.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: And also, there's, of course, things I don't want to do in my schedule.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_03]: It happens to all of us.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I hate a meeting, but like, I got to do them sometimes.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: But then there's things I do to make sure that I can enjoy the other things I have to do.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like, we all have things we have to do.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_03]: So, but I love that guy said, and I think it's important for us to go, well, how are you sustaining yourself?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_03]: Like, oh, how are you doing that?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_03]: And also,
- 22:57[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you can talk a little bit like how how do you know what you need to do to recharge or to prioritize yourself or to have self care because I think some people think it's going to the spot each week and I actually think it's like, you know, water sleep.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: used I think as you practice this, you start to know what's going to make you feel really good.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like after this podcast, I'm going to go for a run.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's like I'm ending my day.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in central time.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Then I got to go get my kids and I'm like, I know that if I go for like a 20 minute run after this podcast, I will like reset myself.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: for the evening and it's kind of like a good like reset or you know, to go into parenthood.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but I've learned that because I've practiced it, right?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I know like that actually makes me feel really good and you know, for Leslie it might be meditating or something like I think you've got to try some of this on.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's usually easy, accessible.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not usually expensive.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's usually going to the spot.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe on a monthly basis if that's your thing or whatever, but I think for a lot of people, it's so much easier than they're making it.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think so.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_03]: I love that you, I love that you brought up that you are going to go for on in the middle of the day, like as almost like a switch gear is to parenthood, I, you know, like I, I'm known for having a pretty awesome morning routine, but some like I don't have the time in the morning.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have the time at lunch?
- 24:18[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have the time before can you ask the neighbors parents, hey, can you do two seasons and there's all new Monday's and Wednesday's like I think like.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: We're so consumed with like, I've got to do all of it without that we're not realizing that there's resources around us that we could be using to go back to that gentleman's point.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_03]: If people say they're so busy, it means they're not able to handle it.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_03]: Also means they're not able to understand what I want to say yes, no, and also, hey, can you do this so I can do this over here?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: I can help you here if you do this here.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we've resources around us.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, 100%.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we kind of covered a little bit but also like how do you honor your time because I actually am quite impressed that you can go for a run the middle of the day the reason I have a morning routine is because I can't be trusted with like the afternoon routine so how do you protect that time like what did you have to do you think of yourself a pep talk is it just because you know you're going to feel so good like what does that look like because I think some people go all do it tomorrow this call this came in oh my mom needs me like you know.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is such a good question.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, I think, genuinely, generally, high achievers are pretty good at like, time blocking their day and like getting their stuff done.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if that's what we want to call it, but what I don't think we're always naturally good at is like the energy management of that.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so, yeah, in the mornings, I have a morning routine as well, Leslie, and like that gets me in the state of mind.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: to like crush it at work or to bring the energy and then I always know like I'm going to hit kind of a low around like noon in my work day.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know that if I can do certain activities in the morning, my energy is like better.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's when I can do like deep work strategy.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Most high achievers are not using their first hour of the work day effectively.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're like input overload,
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: like social media, Zoom calls.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: When you really do want to be spending that first hour of your work day doing something more strategic, something more creative, something that you're like I need to like move the needle on this and I can't just like squeeze it in the cracks of the day.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just started to notice like all these trends about my own like energy management throughout the day and I've worked really hard to like set up my calendar around that and I know not everyone has that luxury, but I also work with a lot of corporate clients that I have and they.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: They'll start blocking out like nine to 10 a.m. in the morning and they're like, I'm not no meetings during that time.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, to the best of their ability.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think this is like an edge to almost getting more time back in your schedule because you do become a lot more effective.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I see I like that you brought up that it like at the input I can I feel that because sometimes I will make the mistake of like let me go into slack before I go do this project like we've all done it and then you're immediately like what now I do that on this
- 27:18[SPEAKER_03]: All this I do in because now my head is over here when I need to be on doing this and I don't actually don't have the creative energy to do this and so I also want to just say like it sounds a bit like you got to give yourself time to carry this and be an experiment mode which is where it's hard for the perfectionist because like you're gonna it's gonna take some time to figure out the right schedule for you.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: It will because everyone's like responsibilities do look a little bit different if you can't focus or you're just distracted constantly like you do really want to be thinking about these things because that means like yeah you're spending time doing stuff, but it doesn't sound like it's effective time.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just got I got sick of having days like that like that's because that's why I've gotten good at this because I was tired of like.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Letting my days pass by and being like, what did I even do?
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I feel that I had a little extra time yesterday.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, wow, this one, what's week is really nice, like I have extra time.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_03]: And then I like looked ahead and I was like, oh, you know what, the next two days are a little full.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_03]: what else is on the schedule for the rest of this week that I could just like do with this I have energy right now.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_03]: I've got energy of creativity.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to do that.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I could check the email one more time, but that's annoying.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm going to do that.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: And then I'm going to just take time to give myself something because I know the next couple of days are me full and it took me a long time to get there.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_03]: I used to have a very, I mean, I used to take, I used to have clients hour by hour by hour.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_03]: And then okay, I could only do this during this
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: but at one point I was like, okay, when I am her and I get to be more in charge of my schedule here so I want to do with these times.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: And so then when I had like a client late council I was like, oh, during that time, I really wanted to be doing this.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: So I can go do that now, because I had a plan for it.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's you, it takes time to get you to know yourself and then also the seasons, because I imagine where you are, the winter changes, how you prioritize yourself, the need of the summer.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it does.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: The seasons and like everyone has work seasons too, right?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like work seasonality, you know, like it's a little bit of a slower work season for me right now.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's June.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so I have the ability to go for run at 4 p.m. that's cool.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not always the season.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think you just have to kind of honor what it looks like for you.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: But like leverage it when you can.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_03]: And just like, how did you kind of get over the feeling, like, did you ever feel selfish as you were doing these things?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: Did you ever feel guilty?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: Cause like, I'm not a mom.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't have mom guilt.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: But like, every one of my mom friends, it's like, the guilt is real.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm always like, going, yeah.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there's like, I think you're not alone, but also can we like ask someone for help?
- 29:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what are we doing here?
- 29:56[SPEAKER_03]: How did you totally get there?
- 29:58[SPEAKER_03]: Aside from like, just like, you felt better when you did it.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: I started noticing like how much more patient I was with my kids like I learned this very early on.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: I have three kids now six, four and two and I was like, you know, when I work out or when I get up an hour before them, ideally in the morning, which is what I do most mornings, I'm like, I'm ready when they wake up.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: And when I don't and they're like my alarm,
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, there's this thing, like you can't pour from an empty cup, like I feel like that's all over with motherhood, but it is, it is true.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: And like the moment I work with moms on this, they start like carving out this time for themselves, they're like, wow, I'm like such a better mom.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, I told you.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's it is really real and listen there's seasons like postpartum and where you just you can't like you're It's you know physically and sleep sometimes it's just you got to honor those seasons But once my kids are sleeping through the night mostly.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I don't have any issue being selfish with my time Yeah, yeah, well, I also thank you for sharing that and also their ages.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate that because I think
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: so many people will just make excuses.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, you know, they're probably older.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: Or oh, they're the six four and two.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's a tight schedule there.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's not always pretty, but even even 30 minutes, right?
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's like start small.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes such a difference when I can hear myself think ideally move my body before they are up.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I appreciate you sharing that so much.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_03]: I just I have this.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_03]: I want to take away as many excuses from people putting up one more obstacle.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_03]: Why they have to wait or they can't have time in their day for themselves.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_03]: And it's true.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you know, I was just like, we visited her and I was like, I was like, don't even look at me.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: Just like whatever you need to do, like do you want me to like do I just look at the kid?
- 32:04[SPEAKER_03]: Do I like patty cake?
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like what do we need?
- 32:06[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: How can I actually help you so that you can have some time for yourself?
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: You have to know that that's a very different time than when they're two and when they're four and then giving yourself greater, like, easier expectations of yourself is also just so important.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: But at some point you have to go, okay, if they're not infants, right?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: If they can tell you when they're hungry, what are you doing to make sure that you're, you want to be with them or with your friends or your co-workers or your family or anything like that?
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's almost like to be her now, like I just knew like if I could work on these things before kids and then if I can work on those things while my kids are little and yeah, it's crazy.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like well, that your habits transfer with you, you know, and then you can refine and tweak them in a just dumb, but I just think the faster you can step into the things you really want to be doing the better you can get on at it versus just continuing to kick the can down the road.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: What are you most excited about right now?
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, I'm excited about so I went through a career transition about six months ago and when I did it I was like, you know what, I'm going to make this season more enjoyable than my last.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think with every transition and pivot, we are smarter.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: And why is there?
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: And so I've just, I've been having a lot of fun in this season, like with girlfriends and I'm like traveling more and that fills my cup and yeah, my youngest is too now.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just excited about having more fun.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Because I feel like there was a few years there where I just wasn't bringing the joy, you know?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think like, especially when you had so then they'd been like two and zero, you know, how many or four tunes it was not fun.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I kind of, I really do love that and I love that, like, I love the reflection of like, okay, that was this and what I want to bring into this piece, I want to be more fun.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think we all can even do that with any part of our life, right?
- 34:04[SPEAKER_03]: What we're recording this, it's a beginning of summer, you know, summer solace 7 hasn't even happened yet, but like it's okay.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: So what I want the next thing to be, like how I want this to be, and then be her now, like what would that have to do?
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're doing our summer tour.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_03]: This will already have happened.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I literally said to the team, I said, okay, it can be a bigger tour.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: But here's what I need for that to happen so that I can have fun on it, too, and it's not just work.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: Or, oh, where do the places, you know, you just start to learn things about yourself.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: And so, okay, I want for Q4, like, okay, it's going to be a busy travel season.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: So what do I want to do in between?
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't feel like I'm just traveling for work all the time.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know, reflection and then planning ahead, you know, these are important.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_03]: These are things we have to do to things don't just happen to you.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and Leslie, that's so smart about planning ahead like that.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably why you do feel so like able to recharge on a daily basis because you've planned for it.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and that's, I mean, like, I learned a long time ago and I'm sure to say, like, if it's not in the schedule, doesn't get done, right?
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's, it's not a to do list thing to me.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't even make to do this anymore.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_03]: I have ADHD on that look at it again.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: So I already learned that about myself.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: But if it's not in actual schedule, then it won't get done.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_03]: And so,
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: I have to go, okay, if you want me to write blog posts, if you want me to write these things, there has to be a block of time in there.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, if I want to recharge, what does that look like?
- 35:27[SPEAKER_03]: And where can it put in the calendar?
- 35:29[SPEAKER_03]: And if it's not able to get in the calendar, I also have had to learn like, and this is the recovering people, please, or, you know, like, the recovering first-born daughter who does everything, right?
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: what can I actually go back and say I can't do that today?
- 35:42[SPEAKER_03]: Can I do it tomorrow?
- 35:43[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like, hey, in the boundary.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_03]: Because sometimes you commit to something and you're like, oh, wow, I could do that today, but it's talking to my best work or it's going to feel rushed.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: But if I had, if I could do it tomorrow, you know, and so it's sometimes I've, my husband is in person who gave me this permission, like, just ask or just say, well, do it, we have to do it next week.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: So sorry.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, just apologize.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, you can do that.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: You can
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: You're just like, change it.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: But I can do that.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes you can't, like sometimes there's deadlines and things are due.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: But a lot of times I've looked at things going, oh, we could actually move that to tomorrow.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: We really, really can't.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: If we're really honest with ourselves, that means we could do something.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_03]: So, well, I'm excited for you.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's something we really excited about.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to take a brief break and then find out how people can find you and learn more from you and your amazing podcast.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: Awesome.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Molly, where do you hang out?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: Where, what's your podcast?
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: Where's your website?
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: Where can people learn more from you and work with you?
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so you can go to malletasplund.com.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: That is my website and shares a little bit of more about me there.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on Instagram, most days, Molly, that Asplund.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then I was gonna grab this.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: I, this is a really good for like morning routine.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: It is like, your ins and your outs for like the months, I feel, I feel it out on a monthly basis.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: called the momentum builder of like a free printable.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you like this kind of thing, oh, everyone likes this kind of thing.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's Molly Aslin dot com slash momentum.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, and you could just download it there and print it out, but that does kind of help me like, what am I focused on this month?
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what are the main like needle movers in the goals?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think that's helpful.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_03]: I promise you that our listeners love that because like first
- 37:26[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, that's that's by own letting us know he's he's here a little in the background.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: They are always like, what's your favorite planner and I'm like, well, I can't really read my own writing and I'm left handed to the binding is just not helpful, but that a printable like that I can work with.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then you can do a new one each month because it's like, okay, wait, fresh start, you know, and you can start in the middle of the month, too.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: You can start whenever.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_03]: Get started with ever that's for the perfection.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_03]: She can start with ever you can start on the full moon.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_03]: Get started a quarter moon.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_03]: I love that so much.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_03]: And your podcast is dream it do it, correct?
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, podcast dream it do it in Leslie was just on there.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll go listen to her interview.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that's we share a lot of high achieving tips, business tips, things like that productivity.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I love it so much.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: I know you all are listening to make sure you go check that out.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, you've actually given us a ton of great stuff, but I love to end the show on bold, executable intrinsic or targeted steps people can take to be it to they see it, what do you have for us?
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think think about the thing that you have said you wanted to do in the future and try to make a leap for it today.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that doesn't mean like writing it down or talking to your friend about it, it means like actually doing it, like sending the email,
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: hiring the coach, making the phone call, going for a run, like whatever it like take the actual action and don't let that get covered up and just like the plans and the thinking about it.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: I actually have a little recent story that will help people see that in on the way.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_03]: I had a year ago, I was like, I'm tired of making up my own gym workouts.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I have to do.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: I have to think about people's supplies workouts, all these things.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I'm tired of it.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_03]: And so I started like, thinking like, do I want to hire a trainer?
- 39:14[SPEAKER_03]: When I do and I found this person online that I really liked and I was like, okay, I could just hire them or I'm going to do their workouts.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_03]: that they've put it online.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_03]: And so I did that for a long time.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, oh, I'm getting great results with this.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so now I'm going to work on hiring them.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_03]: So I like, build up the application.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_03]: So like, you know, there's most of these things you want to do.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_03]: You've to fill it application or you have to do some sort of thing.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: And so I did that step.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_03]: And then she came back to me like, it was like two weeks later.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_03]: So it was not like everything happened tomorrow, but it allowed me to have some time and run away with
- 39:48[SPEAKER_03]: With doing the thing, being her with the potential trainer with her work and then taking an extra step and then she called me back and then she go, okay, we'll start on these two weeks that I was able to plan because it wasn't tomorrow.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, oh, it was going to be in two weeks.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_03]: So in two weeks or now I can set aside time.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: My calendar for this, I could set aside the money for this investment.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: I could do all this stuff.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: And so I think what a great idea.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_03]: Whatever the thing is you want to do, take an action today.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's really, I think it's a very bold and execute little thing.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: You guys could do
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: I love your example, Leslie, that's spot on.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was like, really like, okay, really proud of myself.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_03]: Because sometimes I'm a person's like, I'm just going to do it.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_03]: I like that, but it's like, sometimes I wonder, like, did I invite a person to get the right thing?
- 40:31[SPEAKER_03]: And so I kind of try to get a different way.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_03]: I like, well, what if I be, until I see it as a person who, like,
- 40:36[SPEAKER_03]: You know, interviews, the person a little bit longer and tries it out and see if, yeah, that's how I did it.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_03]: So you're amazing, Molly, you guys, how are you these tips in your life?
