- 1:45Speaker 2: wanted to touch base a little bit about the viewership
- 1:47Speaker 2: of the.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Debut of The Way Home. Yes, Hallmark Media put out
- 1:52Speaker 1: a press release at the Way Home earn two point
- 1:55Speaker 1: four million viewers for its debut night. Let's hear asynopsis
- 2:00Speaker 1: or episode two. Episode two entitled Scar Tissue. Kat is
- 2:04Speaker 1: presented with a book deal that asks her to dredge
- 2:07Speaker 1: up terrible memories. Dale wants to say goodbye to the past,
- 2:11Speaker 1: while Alice yearns to return. There stars Annie McDow, Kyler,
- 2:16Speaker 1: Lee Evan Williams, Sadie La Flame Snow.
- 2:19Speaker 2: This episode opens right where episode one left off, and
- 2:24Speaker 2: we know that Alice is still not home because Kat
- 2:26Speaker 2: is trying to reach Alice via voicemail.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the same, It's basically the same scene we
- 2:30Speaker 1: got last week. Right, she's leaving the same message we
- 2:33Speaker 1: heard in the episode. She's frantic, and we cut to
- 2:36Speaker 1: these scenes of the house is a complete disaster, which
- 2:39Speaker 1: is no time has passed? How all this time to
- 2:43Speaker 1: make all this mess as if she's been gone for weeks? Yes, yes,
- 2:47Speaker 1: that's my biggest problem with this episode, and we'll talk
- 2:50Speaker 1: about it in a little bit, but okay, yes, it's
- 2:53Speaker 1: like she had just like the house is in such
- 2:56Speaker 1: disarray all of a sudden, It's like, why is there
- 2:58Speaker 1: a rotisse chicken on the counter? Like you know what
- 3:02Speaker 1: I mean? It just was like, wasn't she was plucked
- 3:04Speaker 1: out of like the house in the middle of dinner?
- 3:07Speaker 1: It was weird. I thought that was kind of weird.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I thought so too. And we see that kats things
- 3:12Speaker 1: are still on the banks of the pond, letting us
- 3:14Speaker 1: know that she has not returned. That's right. And then
- 3:17Speaker 1: in the next scene we see Alice and Elliott. They
- 3:19Speaker 1: are in the barn. We are in nineteen ninety nine.
- 3:23Speaker 1: She wakes up and she's like, mom, so and this
- 3:27Speaker 1: is all the while while the voicemail is playing, m So,
- 3:32Speaker 1: is she dreaming about this or she just yeah? Wakes
- 3:37Speaker 1: up In connection oh maybe, or does she just realize like,
- 3:41Speaker 1: oh crap, oh crap, I'm still here in nineteen ninety nine. Yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 1: she's gonna be freaked out, like you know when yes,
- 3:50Speaker 1: fall asleep somewhere where you're not supposed to and then
- 3:52Speaker 1: you wake up and you're like, oh crap, I gotta
- 3:54Speaker 1: get home. I gotta get that out of here. It
- 3:56Speaker 1: was minutes ago, yes, exact exactly.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We cut back to the present day. Kat is driving,
- 4:03Speaker 2: she's talking to Brady, and she's essentially having a panic attack.
- 4:08Speaker 2: She's obviously, appears to me anyway, dredging up memories of Jacob,
- 4:14Speaker 2: Jacob going missing and now Alice is missing. Obviously, things
- 4:18Speaker 2: with Jacob going missing did not end well, so she's
- 4:22Speaker 2: jumping to a lot of conclusions here.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And in this scene is the first time that we
- 4:28Speaker 1: hear that Jacob went missing, because she's like, I can't
- 4:31Speaker 1: do this again. So prior to this, we didn't know
- 4:36Speaker 1: what happened to Jacob.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yes, we find a lot more about about Jacob's disappearance
- 4:43Speaker 2: as it.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Were in this episode, right, And I don't know if
- 4:46Speaker 1: you noticed, but when Kat was driving, she stops and
- 4:49Speaker 1: out the driver's side window is the White Cross Memorial
- 4:54Speaker 1: that is later visited by Dell and Alice. I did
- 4:58Speaker 1: not Yes, I did watch this twice, so I'm I'm
- 5:03Speaker 1: the first time I watch. I watched for enjoyment and
- 5:06Speaker 1: then I go back and I really like scour the scenes. Now.
- 5:11Speaker 2: My question here at this point, though, is why is
- 5:14Speaker 2: nobody looking in the pond? If you have a body
- 5:16Speaker 2: of water on your property, it seems to me that
- 5:18Speaker 2: would be the first place that someone would go, if
- 5:21Speaker 2: you're you talking about Jacob or Alice.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Well, Alice, at this point, they can't find her, obviously,
- 5:27Speaker 1: no one has been there because they would see her
- 5:30Speaker 1: things on the bank of the pond. Oh, that's true.
- 5:32Speaker 1: They're not like looking through the woods for her yet.
- 5:35Speaker 2: No, if I had a body of water and a
- 5:37Speaker 2: missing child, that's where I would go.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I will say that.
- 5:43Speaker 2: In the scene, I do believe Kyler Lee's crying face,
- 5:47Speaker 2: but when there's they close up on her, there are
- 5:49Speaker 2: no tears.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Well, but she's doing a nice job. I am worried
- 5:54Speaker 1: along with her. I am definitely worried along with her,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and later on like she puts me up an emotional
- 6:00Speaker 1: Berlla Coocter, Kyler Leidas as Cat. She's so angry all
- 6:05Speaker 1: the time, all the time. I'm hoping there's resolution to
- 6:09Speaker 1: the next day. See Dell is standing at a body
- 6:12Speaker 1: of water. It's not pond. It doesn't look like pond
- 6:15Speaker 1: that we are used to scene. No, she's a pocket
- 6:18Speaker 1: cliff over an ocean, right, and she's on the phone
- 6:21Speaker 1: to like a sheriff or something. And she has pained expression.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And for me, this is the first time I see
- 6:28Speaker 1: Dell show any kind of like emotion or expression or
- 6:32Speaker 1: emoting any feeling other than kind of gruff Dale, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 1: one hundred percent agree.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And in the previous scene, right before it cut to
- 6:41Speaker 2: this scene, Brady said, how's Dell, and Kat says, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 2: she's convinced everything's going to be just fine.
- 6:47Speaker 1: But we kind of get this.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Peak behind the curtain when we get to this scene
- 6:50Speaker 2: that she might be putting on a brave face to Cat,
- 6:53Speaker 2: but is in fact pretty worried about this, to the
- 6:55Speaker 2: point that she's called the police chief because she does
- 6:58Speaker 2: say thanks Chief.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yes exactly.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Cut back to nineteen ninety nine, we have young Elliott
- 7:03Speaker 2: and Alice walking through the woods. Alice isn't quite sure
- 7:06Speaker 2: to get back at this point. I was wondering why
- 7:08Speaker 2: she didn't just jump into the pond the night before.
- 7:11Speaker 2: If the pond got you here, it would stand to
- 7:13Speaker 2: reason that the pond is going to get you back home.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But now they've waited an entire night to figure this out.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I don't know, are you fifteen?
- 7:19Speaker 1: Are you going to jump into like a dark pond
- 7:22Speaker 1: hoping that you get transported back to the present day.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Oh that's a good point. I just don't know. The
- 7:28Speaker 1: pond got you there? Jump back in the pond? Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 1: on top time machine man.
- 7:32Speaker 2: This is the comedic highlight of this episode for me,
- 7:35Speaker 2: because Alice is trying to convince Elliott that she is
- 7:38Speaker 2: from the future and that he will help her and
- 7:40Speaker 2: they will know each other in the future and she
- 7:43Speaker 2: just has to get him on board now, and he says, fine,
- 7:46Speaker 2: why don't you tell me something about the future, and
- 7:49Speaker 2: his next line is there's no way that guy becomes president.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah. That was funny, right, well done. I was like, hmmm,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I like you writers. That was really funny. And then
- 7:59Speaker 1: basically right after that, he asks Alice like, basically if
- 8:05Speaker 1: he is her dad in the future, and Alice is mortified.
- 8:09Speaker 1: She's like, no, dude, you're my science teacher. Yeah, she's
- 8:13Speaker 1: you know, so, up until this point, I didn't really
- 8:18Speaker 1: realize that, like Elliott and Kat as teenagers had like
- 8:24Speaker 1: a thing with each other, or like a one sided crush. Maybe.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I think you're right about that second part. I think
- 8:31Speaker 2: it's one sided, and I think later in this episode
- 8:34Speaker 2: we get more hints that it's one sided. My feeling
- 8:37Speaker 2: about this relationship is that to Kat he was her
- 8:39Speaker 2: best friend, and to Elliott, Kat was the one who
- 8:44Speaker 2: got away.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Mm hmm, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. So Alice jumps
- 8:48Speaker 1: back into the pond, hoping to return to the present,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and Elliott jumps in after her, and he's keen out,
- 8:56Speaker 1: where are you at? Where did you know? I think
- 8:58Speaker 1: this is where he realized, like, hey, this is some
- 9:00Speaker 1: portal to the future. Yeah, which must be super freaky
- 9:05Speaker 1: mm hmm.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And we cut back to adult Elliott overlooking the farm.
- 9:08Speaker 2: He sees Alice running home in her borrowed baby doll dress,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and he's calm about it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's cool. He's like, well, this is going the way
- 9:17Speaker 1: that I imagine it's supposed to do, and now he's seeing
- 9:21Speaker 1: the beginnings.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Of it from the future, right that was weird. It's
- 9:25Speaker 2: hard to wrap my brain around the timeline.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Of how all this works. I agree, I agree. Sometimes
- 9:31Speaker 1: I just have to like put it aside, like don't
- 9:34Speaker 1: ask too many questions. Yeah, exactly, exactly. So here we
- 9:38Speaker 1: get the opening child the Way Home, but we have
- 9:40Speaker 1: no opening music like we had last week. No, I'm
- 9:43Speaker 1: kind of disappointed by that. I know, I was hoping
- 9:46Speaker 1: for that little you know that song to come back.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And a Cat returns home to a house that still
- 9:51Speaker 2: appears empty, and I gotta say that, like slightly swinging
- 9:55Speaker 2: porch swing, it just has like an eerie vibe to it.
- 9:58Speaker 1: When she's coming back home.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And then we get a flashback to Kat and her
- 10:02Speaker 2: dad sitting on the porch saying her dad telling him
- 10:05Speaker 2: will find Jacob and that a landry doesn't give up hope,
- 10:08Speaker 2: a line that will carry some weight later in this episode,
- 10:11Speaker 2: right right right, So Kat heads back inside, she sees
- 10:15Speaker 2: wet footprints on the floor.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Alice and Kat are reunited, and Alice truly is like
- 10:21Speaker 1: excited to see her mom. She's hoping like, just don't
- 10:24Speaker 1: ask a million questions, It's okay, I'm back, and Kat
- 10:28Speaker 1: is pissed. She you know she wants an explanation, She
- 10:33Speaker 1: wants to know where her kid was at. And now
- 10:36Speaker 1: she basically assumes that Alice was trying to get back
- 10:40Speaker 1: home to her dad. Right, But Alice doesn't have like
- 10:44Speaker 1: a real explanation of where she's at. So so Kat's
- 10:47Speaker 1: just smoke is coming out of her ears. Basically, Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 1: So Alice says, I'm so sorry, I was trying to
- 10:55Speaker 1: get back home, and Kat misinterprets that. Now, there was
- 11:00Speaker 1: a brief moment where Kat was more relieved than angry,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and then once that passes and she realizes that Alice
- 11:07Speaker 1: is whole in front of her, and she loses it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I gotta say, I could, I can, I can relate
- 11:11Speaker 1: to that. Sure, glad you're here. Now, don't ever do
- 11:15Speaker 1: that again, right Exactly the next thing, we see Dell
- 11:19Speaker 1: at the table and she's relieved, she's relieved that Alice
- 11:24Speaker 1: is home. She can hear Cat and Alice fighting in
- 11:26Speaker 1: the background, and you can see like the relief on
- 11:29Speaker 1: her face. But as soon as Kat walks in, Dell
- 11:32Speaker 1: fronts and is like, I told you everything will be okay. Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 1: The acting there is impeccable because you see her take
- 11:39Speaker 1: this steadying breath, She's okay, and now she's like, oh no,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I gotta be tough guy again. Yeah, I'm like, is
- 11:46Speaker 1: it too soon to talk about Emmy nominations for Amy mcdowells.
- 11:51Speaker 1: My goodness, what if that be such a win for
- 11:55Speaker 1: Hallmark that he's so cool, wouldn't it? I love it.
- 11:58Speaker 1: In the previous scene, Alice was grounded and she's told
- 12:01Speaker 1: she's only going.
- 12:01Speaker 2: To school and that's it. So we cut to Alice
- 12:05Speaker 2: at school. She's going to school even though she was
- 12:07Speaker 2: missing all night, and the kids are staring because not
- 12:10Speaker 2: only is she the girl who pulled the fire alarm
- 12:12Speaker 2: and apparently is rumored to have been an arsivist, but
- 12:14Speaker 2: she's also the girl who ran away. Now, I mean,
- 12:18Speaker 2: good news travels fast in that town. Bad news travels fast.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Seriously, I mean, because I feel like we're only like
- 12:25Speaker 1: one day the next day after she started school the
- 12:29Speaker 1: day before. Yes, it's been two days, and this poor
- 12:32Speaker 1: girl is yeah, okay in good news. Though at school
- 12:37Speaker 1: she does appear to have two friends, Spencer and Zoe,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and I am looking forward to the role these two
- 12:46Speaker 1: are going to play in her life. That's good. I
- 12:49Speaker 1: think that's gonna round out her character, like, as a
- 12:53Speaker 1: fifteen year old, you need other peers in her life.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So yeah, not just your mom and your grandma. Yeah, exactly.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So that's going to be interesting how they incorporate them
- 13:04Speaker 1: into the story. And I think we already, yeah, here
- 13:07Speaker 1: it is. I think we're already seeing a little bit
- 13:09Speaker 1: of that because he shows Alice that picture of his
- 13:14Speaker 1: of his mom and her mom as teenagers. Yeah, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: you kind of see a softening in Alice's face. She's
- 13:21Speaker 1: happy to see this. And I think in the earlier
- 13:24Speaker 1: scene when she saw her mom and her mom was yelling,
- 13:27Speaker 1: she said, what happened to you? Because she's seen this bright,
- 13:30Speaker 1: happy teenager who was her peer in the past, and
- 13:34Speaker 1: now her mom is angry and scared and tough, right exactly.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Cut back to the farm, Dell is talking with her
- 13:43Speaker 1: friend Rita. They're canning honey, packaging honey from.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Dell's bees, and Rita's pissed. She's mad that Alice ran away,
- 13:51Speaker 2: and she thinks Della is ignoring her feelings. And I
- 13:54Speaker 2: gotta say, Rita, she's going to have to earn my love.
- 13:59Speaker 1: She doesn't take any share basically, right, She tells Dell,
- 14:04Speaker 1: like if your kid is gonna mess up all the
- 14:08Speaker 1: good work like you've done to yourself, Like she's gonna
- 14:11Speaker 1: have to answer to me, you know. Yeah, And I
- 14:15Speaker 1: wonder Okay, According to Rita, Dell has done some healing.
- 14:19Speaker 1: From an outsider's perspective, it feels like Dell's healing is
- 14:23Speaker 1: ignoring the past. Now we come to find out she
- 14:26Speaker 1: has taken some concrete steps to provide herself closure. But
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of healing that still needs
- 14:32Speaker 1: to be done, based on certain things at the house,
- 14:35Speaker 1: the way Jacob and Colton have been erased from the house.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But also doesn't Dell need to do some healing of
- 14:45Speaker 1: her relationship with her daughter because m hmmm, Kat experienced
- 14:49Speaker 1: this too. I don't think they can heal in like
- 14:52Speaker 1: two parallel lines. At some point those two things need
- 14:55Speaker 1: to cross. Yeah, I agree. This was a little this
- 14:59Speaker 1: whole scene here with the friend talking about the healing
- 15:04Speaker 1: that Dale has already done. It was different than what
- 15:08Speaker 1: we saw in episode one, And I feel like the
- 15:13Speaker 1: Dell that we got in episode one was like real
- 15:15Speaker 1: tough end, you know what I mean. And so now
- 15:17Speaker 1: we have Adele who's on her path of healing from
- 15:22Speaker 1: you know, the timing is like weird for me, But I.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Think the difference here is that the Dell we saw
- 15:29Speaker 2: in episode one, we really only saw her in relationship
- 15:33Speaker 2: to Cat and Alice, who she has this wall up
- 15:37Speaker 2: to protect herself from the past and those feelings. And
- 15:41Speaker 2: this Dell is with her friend who has experienced the
- 15:46Speaker 2: past twenty years with her and knows more.
- 15:48Speaker 1: And I think this is more the real Dell in
- 15:51Speaker 1: this moment, okay, And at the end, Rita alludes to
- 15:54Speaker 1: something happening this weekend. We don't know what it is
- 15:56Speaker 1: going to be yet.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Right last week, I think it was assumed that it
- 16:02Speaker 2: was a foregone conclusion that Elliott had sent the letter,
- 16:04Speaker 2: but I think this scene cements that it is still
- 16:07Speaker 2: a mystery that remains to be solved.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Because Dele accuses Rita up sending the letter, Rita insists
- 16:12Speaker 1: she doesn't. They bring up the letter multiple times throughout
- 16:14Speaker 1: the episode, and no one has claimed ownership for the
- 16:17Speaker 1: sending up the letter at this point. Right. I have
- 16:20Speaker 1: some comments on that later on. Okay, Okay. The next
- 16:23Speaker 1: scene we have Kat in her bedroom looking at an
- 16:27Speaker 1: old photo of her in nineteen ninety nine. Alice it's
- 16:29Speaker 1: that polaroid that her brother had taken. And her ex
- 16:34Speaker 1: calls and he wants to know, like what the status
- 16:37Speaker 1: of Alice is, and she's like, oh shit, I forgot
- 16:39Speaker 1: to call you. Yeah, wow, she's back at school. It's
- 16:42Speaker 1: all good, Like we're all good here. You know. I
- 16:46Speaker 1: thought that was kind of funny. I thought it was
- 16:48Speaker 1: funny too, But I think Brady handles this better than
- 16:50Speaker 1: I would. Yeah, see me in the loop if she's missing,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm over here freaking out. You need to agree. But
- 16:58Speaker 1: he's kind of an idiot me a little bit. So
- 17:02Speaker 1: he deserved it. I don't want to say he deserved it,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but like, I don't know, if he's so concerned, he
- 17:09Speaker 1: needs to come out there and start looking for Alice himself,
- 17:11Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Yeah, good point.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Yes, he's still sitting in his office, so he's not
- 17:15Speaker 2: that worried about it. Kat does offer to come home
- 17:17Speaker 2: because it's not working. And again, I remind you, it's
- 17:20Speaker 2: been two days. Change takes time.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I wrote that to quote it's not working. It's been
- 17:25Speaker 1: two days, right, Like it's gonna take a minute, jeez, Louise. People,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and Brady has an idea. He has a proposition.
- 17:33Speaker 2: There's a publishing house that wants Kat to write her
- 17:35Speaker 2: family story, and I already know Dell is not going
- 17:39Speaker 2: to like this information.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Right, And this is funny? He says, like the publisher's
- 17:44Speaker 1: looking or likes cold cases, True crime, family saga, and
- 17:48Speaker 1: I'm like cold cases true crime? What are we getting
- 17:52Speaker 1: into here with Jacob? You know?
- 17:56Speaker 2: And Cat seems to think there's some sort of ulterior
- 17:59Speaker 2: motive here. She's not really into Brady helping her out.
- 18:02Speaker 2: She says, you're with Rachel. I can find my own
- 18:04Speaker 2: book Deal's Cat, clearly you cannot take the help where
- 18:07Speaker 2: you can get it.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It has only been less than twenty four hours that
- 18:11Speaker 1: she started looking for a book deal though, So this
- 18:14Speaker 1: is true, This is true what I did? Right? How's
- 18:16Speaker 1: that working out for you? Kat?
- 18:17Speaker 2: I mean, keep your options open exactly. Fade out on
- 18:21Speaker 2: the ceiling with the glow and the dark stars.
- 18:24Speaker 1: The next scene is maybe one of my favorite scenes. Yes,
- 18:28Speaker 1: Alice barges into the teacher's lounge and she says, we
- 18:31Speaker 1: need to talk about last night, and Elliott turns around,
- 18:34Speaker 1: and the expression on his face and the teachers behind
- 18:37Speaker 1: him was so awesome.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that was great comedic timing, and then cut to
- 18:43Speaker 2: a commercial break.
- 18:44Speaker 1: We come back and he's like, do you know what
- 18:47Speaker 1: that looked like? And then says, let's talk but with
- 18:50Speaker 1: this door very wide open. That was so funny. It
- 18:55Speaker 1: was I get that, like a teacher student relationship is
- 18:59Speaker 1: not funny, but I just thought that it was funny.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I yes, knowing that it's all innocent, it is funny
- 19:05Speaker 2: and hot damn. In this scene, I gotta say, Elliott
- 19:08Speaker 2: also a wowie's awie.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh, welcome to the Club's his what's his name? His
- 19:14Speaker 1: name is Evan Williams.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Okay, welcome to the club Evan. And they danced around
- 19:21Speaker 2: her recent time travel.
- 19:22Speaker 1: There's a do you know what I know that you know?
- 19:24Speaker 1: And they finally realize that she knows, and then she goes.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Alice has a realization that the her mom's childhood friend
- 19:34Speaker 2: Alice is who Alice is named after, and she's like,
- 19:36Speaker 2: she named me after me?
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's funny. And this is where my brain twists again,
- 19:42Speaker 1: me too, same too, because Ellie continues to tell like, oh, well,
- 19:46Speaker 1: memories and it was kind of confusing, like the explanation
- 19:51Speaker 1: that he told her on why cat can't remember Alice.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, he says, memories are mercurial. Brain remembers what it
- 20:01Speaker 2: needs to remember. Or this is just a convenient way
- 20:04Speaker 2: to explain away time travel and the fact that she
- 20:07Speaker 2: is visiting her own mother.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And during this whole conversation he says to her, time
- 20:12Speaker 1: travel only works for you, but he doesn't know why.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So is this a clue that Dell is not the
- 20:19Speaker 1: woman in the opening scene of last week's Remember where
- 20:22Speaker 1: there was some theories that maybe Dell was the time
- 20:25Speaker 1: travel or two. But I think it had to have
- 20:29Speaker 1: been Alice in that opening scene back in eighteen whatever.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I originally speculated that it was Alice. Yes, further thinking,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I thought it could be Dell. Some one of these
- 20:42Speaker 2: women is potentially the White Witch. But we also know
- 20:46Speaker 2: that when he says time travel only works for you,
- 20:49Speaker 2: we know that he hasn't tested it with everybody, but
- 20:51Speaker 2: he knows that it doesn't work for him. True, So
- 20:55Speaker 2: it's possible that Dell time traveled and just hasn't shared
- 20:57Speaker 2: this information with mister Augustine. That's true. I don't think
- 21:00Speaker 2: we know everything, but we do know that time while
- 21:03Speaker 2: she's gone and time when she is away. They move
- 21:07Speaker 2: at the same pace. So if she's gone for eight hours,
- 21:10Speaker 2: she is gone for eight hours, so she needs to
- 21:12Speaker 2: be smart about when she time travels.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gonna be interesting, right, or she I'm in
- 21:18Speaker 1: the library for the next six hours, I'll see you later. Like,
- 21:22Speaker 1: how is she gonna explain away her where she's at
- 21:26Speaker 1: in present day? Right? And she's she.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Only going to time pravel at night when she should
- 21:30Speaker 2: be sleeping. This is going to be complicated. And then
- 21:33Speaker 2: she tells Elliott that she met Jacob and you can
- 21:35Speaker 2: see in Elliott's face that this affects him.
- 21:38Speaker 1: This is this is more than just traveling back to
- 21:41Speaker 1: meet your mother to understand her who as she is
- 21:44Speaker 1: as a human, which I think is a really compelling story.
- 21:46Speaker 1: This is you have an uncle who didn't live past
- 21:50Speaker 1: age nine, and you have a grandfather, and nobody talks
- 21:53Speaker 1: about what happened to Jacob, and nobody talks about what
- 21:55Speaker 1: happened to Coulton, and there's a lot of grief wrapped
- 21:59Speaker 1: up in those two so kind of getting into the
- 22:01Speaker 1: thick of it. Cut back to Cat going through the
- 22:03Speaker 1: Jacob box and she finds a notebook with what is
- 22:07Speaker 1: their superhero logo? Essentially right. I mean, basically she's just
- 22:13Speaker 1: having these memories of Jacob and their life together. But
- 22:17Speaker 1: Dell walks in and Delle doesn't want anything to do
- 22:19Speaker 1: with it, and she tells Kat again she's basically kind
- 22:23Speaker 1: of accusatory to Cat, I believe, which makes me wonder
- 22:27Speaker 1: like at this point, I'm like, did Cat have something
- 22:30Speaker 1: to do with him going missing? Or like, what is
- 22:34Speaker 1: the anger with Cat?
- 22:37Speaker 2: Well, in doubt, we do know something a little bit
- 22:39Speaker 2: more about that a little bit later than this episode, right,
- 22:41Speaker 2: But you know, Delle just wants to spend it right
- 22:43Speaker 2: back on Cat. She wants to talk about Cat. She
- 22:45Speaker 2: does not want to talk about Jacob. She doesn't think
- 22:47Speaker 2: Cat is meeting her halfway again. It has been two days,
- 22:49Speaker 2: she doesn't have her life back together, she doesn't have
- 22:51Speaker 2: a job, give her a minute. Everybody needs to just chill.
- 22:55Speaker 1: But Delle says, if you're gonna be here, might as
- 22:57Speaker 1: well make yourself useful, and then Dell feeds her to
- 22:59Speaker 1: the wolves. Okay, so yes, we see Kat goes to
- 23:03Speaker 1: the point, I believe, and she walks in and she
- 23:06Speaker 1: sees Monica, who is her school rival, basically lost. There
- 23:11Speaker 1: are we to believe that Monica, the school rival at
- 23:14Speaker 1: the point, is the mom of Spencer at school, Alice's friend,
- 23:19Speaker 1: so I.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Don't think this is fully made clear in the episode. However,
- 23:24Speaker 2: on imb, their character's last names are both Hill, so
- 23:27Speaker 2: I believe the answer to that question is yes, Monica
- 23:29Speaker 2: is friend Spencer's mother, and Okay, I have a question.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Though they were friends at one point, right, they were
- 23:37Speaker 1: friends at one point. Now, in that conversation with Kat,
- 23:41Speaker 1: she says that she married like some dude they used
- 23:44Speaker 1: to make fun of. Right, do you remember that guy's name,
- 23:47Speaker 1: Trevor Hill? Okay, and Kat calls him Spilsky and she's
- 23:51Speaker 1: making fun of him, only to find out, in the
- 23:54Speaker 1: probably most overused comedic troupe of all time, the guy
- 23:57Speaker 1: she's making fun of is Monica's husband. Yeah, I married him, Okay,
- 24:01Speaker 1: all right, So Monica's super bitchy. And basically it looks
- 24:06Speaker 1: like Delle had set up this interview and Kat had
- 24:09Speaker 1: walked into it and did not realize that she was
- 24:11Speaker 1: interviewing for a job at the point, and once she
- 24:14Speaker 1: does realize that, she's like, oh no, I don't need
- 24:16Speaker 1: a job, I got a book deal. She's obviously lying
- 24:20Speaker 1: about because she didn't want to take that from her ex,
- 24:22Speaker 1: so you know, she just wants to get this chick
- 24:24Speaker 1: off her Jock basically said, I have a book deal
- 24:28Speaker 1: get away.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It struck me because Monica makes a snydermark about Cat
- 24:32Speaker 2: being in a rush to get out of Port Haven,
- 24:34Speaker 2: and it feels like, as is often the case, those
- 24:36Speaker 2: who are left behind in a small town. Made me
- 24:39Speaker 2: feel like those who left felt like they weren't good
- 24:42Speaker 2: enough for them. And I think Monica is getting a
- 24:44Speaker 2: little bit revenge because no, Cat's back and the big
- 24:46Speaker 2: city did not.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Work out so well for her. Yeah, but this is
- 24:49Speaker 1: what's so funny, is like, if you came across somebody
- 24:52Speaker 1: that you were high school friends with, would you be
- 24:55Speaker 1: like a super bitch to them? I'd be like, oh,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I guess your life didn't work out. No, you're like
- 24:58Speaker 1: an adult now. You would be empathetic and like, oh, well,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it's nice that you're back, and like, I hope everything's
- 25:04Speaker 1: working out for you. Great bye, you know, let's yeah
- 25:07Speaker 1: put it behind us. So the next THINGE we have,
- 25:09Speaker 1: we're at dinner at the dinner table at the Landry House,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and to me, Della is a bit softer to Alice, Hmm,
- 25:18Speaker 1: Kat is angry, and I wrote, she's so angry. If
- 25:22Speaker 1: you guys watch Bravo and I'm sure you've seen this
- 25:24Speaker 1: scene where Lisa Renna is yelling so angry, You're so angry.
- 25:30Speaker 1: This is what I hear in my head when I'm
- 25:32Speaker 1: watching Cat. I'm like, why is she so angry? The
- 25:35Speaker 1: woman is piss off at everything, every scenario that's happening,
- 25:41Speaker 1: like so unhappy.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Well, Delle thinks Cat is being too hard on Alice,
- 25:45Speaker 2: grounding her. I am sorry, the girl ran away. Kat
- 25:48Speaker 2: does not know that.
- 25:49Speaker 1: She time traveled. She just thinks she ran away. So
- 25:51Speaker 1: she's pissed and she's grounded. That's reasonable to me. Could
- 25:54Speaker 1: you support me a little bit here, mom, instead of
- 25:57Speaker 1: being like, come on, kid, need to get out and
- 25:59Speaker 1: do things right right. So at the table, Kat tells
- 26:03Speaker 1: the family about the potential book deal. She has to
- 26:07Speaker 1: write her family story about Jacob and Dell. I'm not
- 26:10Speaker 1: so happy about it, not happy about it at all.
- 26:13Speaker 1: And this is the point.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Alice wants to know what happened to Jacob, and Kat
- 26:18Speaker 2: says it's not the right time, and Alice shoots back.
- 26:21Speaker 1: But it's the right time to write a tell all,
- 26:23Speaker 1: like you can tell the world, but you can't tell me. Yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 1: this is so weird to me because like I feel
- 26:29Speaker 1: if I grew up and had a younger sibling who
- 26:34Speaker 1: died tragically or went missing, I think my teenage child
- 26:38Speaker 1: would probably know about it. Like I feel like I
- 26:42Speaker 1: wouldn't want to keep a secret like that for so long.
- 26:45Speaker 2: No, and she knows he's gone. So the point at
- 26:47Speaker 2: which she's asking about it is the point you say, yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 2: this is the.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Hard conversation we need to have. Ooh, it's a secret.
- 26:54Speaker 1: So Alice, you know, she's fed up with Dell and
- 26:58Speaker 1: Kat like not getting the and she criticized them, and
- 27:02Speaker 1: she says, what happened to you too? Because you know,
- 27:05Speaker 1: obviously Alice has seen Cat and Dell in nineteen ninety
- 27:10Speaker 1: nine and saw that they got along and it was
- 27:12Speaker 1: a happy family. And she's now asking, like what happened
- 27:15Speaker 1: between you two? And Dell says that's a damn good question,
- 27:19Speaker 1: and Kat responds, well, I think we know why we
- 27:22Speaker 1: don't get along, and Dell then fires back, but we
- 27:26Speaker 1: don't want the world to know, so don't write that book,
- 27:29Speaker 1: which is weird, Like it is weird what is all
- 27:33Speaker 1: that about.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Also, I feel like Dell's not taking any ownership for
- 27:37Speaker 2: her part in this because we don't know yet, ya,
- 27:42Speaker 2: exactly why Dell is angry at Cat, although I have
- 27:45Speaker 2: my suspicions later in this episode, But Dell was the
- 27:49Speaker 2: parent in the situation and Cat was also a child
- 27:53Speaker 2: in that situation. Yeah, so at some point Dell needs
- 27:57Speaker 2: to take some responsibility exactly.
- 28:01Speaker 1: We cut to.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Elliott and Kat having a glass of wine in the barn,
- 28:05Speaker 2: and there's a little moment that Elliott wants to mean
- 28:08Speaker 2: something and Kat is just trying to.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Find some comfort in her old friend.
- 28:13Speaker 2: She rests her head on his shoulder and Elliott's face
- 28:16Speaker 2: is clearly like oh. But she tells Elliott she found
- 28:20Speaker 2: a photo of her friend Alice, and she says she
- 28:23Speaker 2: now seems more like an energy than a person to her.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Mm hmm, yeah, because of course her brain's not going
- 28:28Speaker 2: to allow her to remember that this person is exactly
- 28:31Speaker 2: like her own daughter, right right. She also says during
- 28:34Speaker 2: this conversation she's like, Alice was there all summer and
- 28:39Speaker 2: into the fall, and so it gives us a little
- 28:43Speaker 2: bit of like time frame that we're working with before
- 28:47Speaker 2: Jacob goes missing.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yes, you know, good point. The next thing, we see
- 28:53Speaker 1: Alice googling Jacob Landry, but we do not get the
- 28:57Speaker 1: results of that Google search. You know that internet doesn't
- 29:00Speaker 1: work at their house. It does not, and that works
- 29:03Speaker 1: in Dell's favor, I think. And Alice gets a phone
- 29:05Speaker 1: call and she's still mad. She's still mad that he
- 29:08Speaker 1: hasn't asked her to come home, and he says she's
- 29:10Speaker 1: welcome anytime. And this is kind.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Of confusing to me because what is the custody arrangement here,
- 29:15Speaker 2: Like she's just going to take off. We haven't set
- 29:17Speaker 2: up a plan for when she's going to come home
- 29:19Speaker 2: and visit. Alice doesn't seem to want to be in
- 29:21Speaker 2: the same house as girlfriend Rachel, and she rushes them.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Off the phone. It makes me wonder about Rachel. Like
- 29:27Speaker 1: Rachel is mentioned so much. Hope, like Rachel was a
- 29:30Speaker 1: friend of Kat or something. I mean, I mean, that's
- 29:34Speaker 1: obviously a terrible storyline for Cat, but she's just mentioned
- 29:39Speaker 1: so often for a character we've never seen or know
- 29:42Speaker 1: anything about.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Well, I will tell you there is no character named
- 29:46Speaker 2: Rachel listed on the IMDb page for this show, and
- 29:50Speaker 2: there are characters who we have not met yet on
- 29:53Speaker 2: this IMDb page, so leads.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Me to believe we may not ever meet her. All right, well,
- 30:00Speaker 1: Alice takes off, She runs back down to the pond,
- 30:03Speaker 1: jumps in, and nothing happens. And I wrote, could you
- 30:07Speaker 1: please wait until your mother is asleep this time? Learn
- 30:09Speaker 1: from your mistakes, you know, because Katoul didn't kat be
- 30:12Speaker 1: Like where's she go again? Yeah? Like come on, yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 1: think ahead, you got a plan ahead, Alice.
- 30:19Speaker 2: We have Alice knocking on the door of Elliott's pretty
- 30:21Speaker 2: stone house to ask him.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Why didn't work? And we find out the pond.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Works in mysterious ways. So it's not just whenever you
- 30:29Speaker 2: want to time travel, the pond has to want it too.
- 30:32Speaker 1: So here is my notice in the nineties and Megan,
- 30:35Speaker 1: I don't know if you if you caught it or not. Okay, okay.
- 30:39Speaker 1: So Elliott and Alice they're talking, right, and he's she's
- 30:43Speaker 1: asking him all the questions, like well, tell me why
- 30:45Speaker 1: the pond doesn't work, and like you're supposed to be
- 30:47Speaker 1: my guru or something. Give a guy a little time
- 30:50Speaker 1: to be the Giles to your Buffy. All right, Oh,
- 30:54Speaker 1: nice catch? And Alice goes the who to my what
- 30:58Speaker 1: and Elliott respond I cry for gen Z. And this
- 31:03Speaker 1: is the best line in the entire show for me,
- 31:07Speaker 1: because I was a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and Giles was like he was the know all, like
- 31:15Speaker 1: that's who she went to for all the information, just
- 31:18Speaker 1: like Alice is going to Elliott for all the information.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I just thought that was so awesome. And that's a
- 31:24Speaker 1: great catch because we don't really spend any time in
- 31:27Speaker 1: the nineties in this episode, so there's not a lot
- 31:29Speaker 1: else to go on, so that is impressive. Thank you
- 31:33Speaker 1: so much. I gotta say I laughed out loud when
- 31:36Speaker 1: I heard it. I'm so glad.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Well, we cut to the next morning in this episode
- 31:41Speaker 2: and Dell hands Alice a box of jars of honey,
- 31:44Speaker 2: and I'm like, well, she was supposed to do with that.
- 31:46Speaker 2: But then we see in the next scene they're in
- 31:48Speaker 2: a farmer's market, and I had to tell you, Dell
- 31:51Speaker 2: at the farmers market is not the picture I had
- 31:54Speaker 2: of this woman who so far has been angry and crabby.
- 31:57Speaker 1: M hmm. Totally a different person, right, totally different person.
- 32:01Speaker 1: We see her friend Rita sells beechy Chotchki's Wooden Beach
- 32:04Speaker 1: signs like beach this way and Sandy To's full Heart.
- 32:08Speaker 2: All you need to know is Wooden Beach signs. And
- 32:09Speaker 2: I think everybody can conjure up in their mind what.
- 32:12Speaker 1: She sells, and honestly, it's the perfect characterization for her
- 32:16Speaker 1: in my mind, like who she is. I love it.
- 32:20Speaker 1: We also meet Byron at this point and Delle's quite
- 32:23Speaker 1: flirty with him, and Alice recognizes it. Byron is the
- 32:28Speaker 1: local newspaper archive guy. Yeah, and that's all we have
- 32:34Speaker 1: about Byron so far, so far.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I said, Byron's a little bit of a silver fox.
- 32:39Speaker 2: And we get a flashback. We see Delle kind of
- 32:43Speaker 2: touching her hair and Alice has a flashback of Dell
- 32:46Speaker 2: in that moment doing the same thing at the dinner
- 32:48Speaker 2: table looking at Colton. So in case we weren't totally
- 32:52Speaker 2: clear that this man might be a potential love interest
- 32:54Speaker 2: of Dell's.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Now we know.
- 32:57Speaker 2: And we also find out something a little bit about
- 32:58Speaker 2: the community here. Rita teases a Byron that he's a
- 33:02Speaker 2: newcomer and he's like, I've lived here for six years,
- 33:05Speaker 2: So this is a community that is rooted in its roots.
- 33:09Speaker 1: You're still a newbie, even though you've lived there almost
- 33:11Speaker 1: a decade. Yes, right, right, right.
- 33:15Speaker 2: We have Kat going into Alice's bedroom. Dell has left
- 33:18Speaker 2: her a note, but you know, Cat's kind of having
- 33:22Speaker 2: a moment. She opens up the Alice in Wonderland book.
- 33:24Speaker 2: There's a line that's a little reminiscent of time travel
- 33:27Speaker 2: in there, and you know, I Cat just seems a
- 33:31Speaker 2: little bit lost, Like what am I supposed to do
- 33:33Speaker 2: with this kid? She sees the note from Dell, and
- 33:35Speaker 2: now she's off to the races and pissed again.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Okay, so let me stop you there. The note. I
- 33:41Speaker 1: don't know if you noticed, but it is on the
- 33:43Speaker 1: same paper and has the same handwriting as the letter
- 33:47Speaker 1: that Kat received. Well, Dell says she wrote the letter.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Later on we get that she just didn't send it. Okay, well,
- 33:56Speaker 1: this is like a continuity issue for me, Like that
- 33:59Speaker 1: does not look like something a fifteen year old would
- 34:02Speaker 1: have written. No, I thought the note was signed from Dell.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I know, I think it was from Alice. Oh, you're right,
- 34:10Speaker 1: it's signed Alice. Okay, I take it back, But I
- 34:13Speaker 1: feel like the whole the writing and everything looks like
- 34:16Speaker 1: the the letter that was sent to Cat, but maybe
- 34:20Speaker 1: it doesn't. They needed to have two separate PA's write
- 34:22Speaker 1: these letters.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Perhaps perhaps Okay, again, Cat's pissed that Alice is in
- 34:29Speaker 2: this park because we have flashbacks to Kat and her
- 34:33Speaker 2: father handing out flyers looking for Jacob in this very
- 34:36Speaker 2: same park.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Now, Cat, you came home.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Are you going to avoid every place that has a
- 34:40Speaker 2: memory of your missing brother for you? I'm not really
- 34:43Speaker 2: sure that this farmer's market in broad daylight is a
- 34:46Speaker 2: terrible place to.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Take her right now, it's so weird to me because
- 34:50Speaker 1: like she's pissed about certain things. Dell's pissed about certain things,
- 34:54Speaker 1: like can you too, please get into a therapist's office asap?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Because right everybody it is to work out. Yeah, like
- 35:01Speaker 1: Alice is the most well adjusted of all of you. Seriously,
- 35:05Speaker 1: Rita says they all need closure. Alice asked what happens?
- 35:07Speaker 1: Rita won't tell her. Then shut up, Rita like, don't
- 35:11Speaker 1: stop stepping in, Rita. Yeah, nobody needs me, Rita. You yeah, agree,
- 35:19Speaker 1: And we are still arguing about the origins of the
- 35:21Speaker 1: letter here. Yeah, exactly, all right. So in the next scene,
- 35:25Speaker 1: Alice takes off and she's got she has this bright
- 35:29Speaker 1: idea that she's gonna look in the newspaper archive. And
- 35:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you, my fifteen year old would not
- 35:35Speaker 1: know how to work a microfiche. I don't know how
- 35:38Speaker 1: Alice figures it out to look through all these newspapers totally.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Also like, we haven't digitized our nineteen ninety nine newspaper,
- 35:47Speaker 2: Like they're.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Still on microfiche. I don't know.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Is that still how newspapers are archived? I don't know,
- 35:52Speaker 2: but I agree my fifteen year old will be.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Like, is not on Google? Doesn't exist exactly? And then
- 35:57Speaker 1: like kind of at the same time, we see Cash
- 36:00Speaker 1: up at the cemetery and she sees Danny, who's a groundskeeper,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and I'm like, who's Danny? Like, why are we introducing
- 36:09Speaker 1: Danny here? She knows Danny from her past, but we
- 36:13Speaker 1: don't know anything about him.
- 36:15Speaker 2: We don't find anything out about Danny. But I will
- 36:17Speaker 2: tell you he's played by Pace and Rock And there
- 36:19Speaker 2: is an actor named Bathan Hoffman on IMDb who plays
- 36:23Speaker 2: young Danny. So we apparently are going to beet Danny
- 36:25Speaker 2: in the past as well.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Awesome. I thought Danny might be a friend of Jacob's.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Oh interesting speculation. Oh, interesting because I think I thought
- 36:39Speaker 1: Danny looked like the groundskeeper. But was Danny putting the
- 36:41Speaker 1: flowers on the grave? Well, he was certainly having a
- 36:45Speaker 1: moment at the grave. It seemed like what we find
- 36:48Speaker 1: out later in this scene. And the age of the
- 36:51Speaker 1: actor who plays young Danny again, all of this leads
- 36:54Speaker 1: me to believe we're dealing with a childhood friend of Jacobs.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Got it, got it, good catch, m good catch. Yes.
- 37:01Speaker 1: In this scene, Kat's talking to her her dad's gravesite,
- 37:05Speaker 1: but then like moves the flowers and sees that now
- 37:07Speaker 1: her brother's name is on the tombstone with her dad's name,
- 37:12Speaker 1: and she realizes that her mom has legally declared Jacob dead. Okay,
- 37:19Speaker 1: I have a question for you. Yeah, she's pissed. It's
- 37:23Speaker 1: been twenty years. Is it reasonable to bring some closure
- 37:27Speaker 1: to this moment? I feel like it is. I agree
- 37:31Speaker 1: with you.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I agree with you, And that's not the healthy move
- 37:34Speaker 2: on Dell's part. And it's not saying I've given up
- 37:37Speaker 2: hope for my son, but at some point we need
- 37:39Speaker 2: to celebrate his life.
- 37:41Speaker 1: H exactly exactly, Okay, ex Okay.
- 37:45Speaker 2: We cut back to Alice looking at the MICROFISI and
- 37:48Speaker 2: there's a newspaper article that says, basically, the kat was
- 37:52Speaker 2: there with Jacob.
- 37:54Speaker 1: He was there one minute and gone the next. Now
- 37:58Speaker 1: I tell you, I pause my TV and read the
- 38:02Speaker 1: entire article. I took a photo of it as well,
- 38:06Speaker 1: because the first the first newspaper article she's looking at,
- 38:09Speaker 1: it's a photo of Jacob and a Ferris wheel and
- 38:12Speaker 1: it says, you know, like local bowl boy goes missing,
- 38:15Speaker 1: Please have no leads. And then the next image she
- 38:18Speaker 1: goes to you, it's like a full article. Now did
- 38:21Speaker 1: you read the article just that line that I read
- 38:25Speaker 1: to you? No? I didn't, Okay. So it goes on
- 38:28Speaker 1: to talk about two twins. Now I'm like, was this
- 38:32Speaker 1: just filler in this article? Like for TV purposes to look?
- 38:37Speaker 1: Because I'm like, well, how did these two things go together?
- 38:41Speaker 1: I don't understand, but they have. They also have an
- 38:46Speaker 1: interview with the police detective who talks about how nobody
- 38:50Speaker 1: has gone missing in Port Haven since the sixties. And yeah,
- 38:55Speaker 1: it's very interesting. It brings up lots of questions. So
- 38:58Speaker 1: I say, if you are looking for a rewatch, pause
- 39:02Speaker 1: your big ass TV on this scene here and read
- 39:06Speaker 1: this article and let's talk about it, okay.
- 39:09Speaker 2: And this is the moment that leads me to believe
- 39:12Speaker 2: that all of Dell's anger at Cat is a perhaps
- 39:16Speaker 2: placing blame on Cat.
- 39:17Speaker 1: For Jacob's disappearance. Whether she's doing it intentionally or not,
- 39:21Speaker 1: She's blamed Cat, yes, and think about the guilt that
- 39:25Speaker 1: Cat has been carrying around for twenty years about this,
- 39:28Speaker 1: you know, and then to have Dell pile it on
- 39:30Speaker 1: even more is like whoa. And this is why I
- 39:33Speaker 1: think Dell needs to take some responsibility here, because again,
- 39:36Speaker 1: Kat was a child. Yes, she was fifteen years old.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yes she was perhaps responsible for Jacob in that moment,
- 39:41Speaker 2: we don't know, But again she was a child and
- 39:45Speaker 2: is carrying the weight of that herself, as you said,
- 39:48Speaker 2: And somebody needs to relieve her of this weight and
- 39:51Speaker 2: this burden because there's a lot we don't know, but
- 39:55Speaker 2: I think we do know that Cat wasn't directly responsible
- 39:58Speaker 2: for the disappearance of her Ba. Dell then shows up
- 40:01Speaker 2: at the newspaper and she says that it's time to go,
- 40:04Speaker 2: and Dell is not going to be doing the hair
- 40:06Speaker 2: touch for Byron anytime soon.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I well, why, I think Byron did her a solid
- 40:11Speaker 1: to tell her that she was there, that Alice was
- 40:13Speaker 1: there looking at that way, you think that he was
- 40:15Speaker 1: the one who told her. Oh yeah, I think so. Ah, Okay,
- 40:19Speaker 1: I definitely think so. But again, it's like, what is
- 40:22Speaker 1: the big freakin secret, right, Let Alice discover what the
- 40:26Speaker 1: hell happened? Like, why are we keeping her in the dark?
- 40:30Speaker 2: Yeah, she's fifteen years old. Geez, let's please somebody act
- 40:33Speaker 2: like an adult here.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I'm I'm finding myself a little frustrated with that part
- 40:38Speaker 1: of the storyline. Well, yeah, it is frustrating.
- 40:40Speaker 2: It is silly to think that you're going to bring
- 40:43Speaker 2: this girl back home and not have her ask questions
- 40:46Speaker 2: and think you can put off her questions for eternity.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, it's weird.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Dell and Alice drive home. Alice apologizes, and Dell pulls
- 40:57Speaker 2: up alongside the previously mentioned white cross that marks where
- 41:02Speaker 2: Colton died in a car accident. We come to find
- 41:05Speaker 2: out three months after Jacob disappeared, and here comes another
- 41:10Speaker 2: win of a line from Alice for me. Delle says
- 41:14Speaker 2: she lost her whole world in that moment, and Alice says,
- 41:16Speaker 2: your whole world except for my mom.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Again, get your shit together. Dell, you have another child. Yeah. Yeah,
- 41:26Speaker 1: it's complicated, man, That's what this show should have been called.
- 41:29Speaker 1: It's complicated. So now we have Alice at home. Dell
- 41:32Speaker 1: and Cat are arguing about Dell declaring Jacob dead, and
- 41:38Speaker 1: Delle says that finally she wrote the letter. That was
- 41:43Speaker 1: never unclear to me. I always knew she wrote it,
- 41:45Speaker 1: she just claimed she didn't send it. Okay, So who
- 41:47Speaker 1: sent the freaking letter? Then we don't know. It's a
- 41:50Speaker 1: buttery another another storyline that to me could have been
- 41:54Speaker 1: buttoned up by now unless there's bigger rapifications right, exactly exactly.
- 42:00Speaker 1: But am I to believe that she wrote the letter
- 42:03Speaker 1: because there was an upcoming memorial for Jacob and she
- 42:07Speaker 1: wanted Cat to be there. She says, this is why
- 42:10Speaker 1: I wrote the letter to you, So yes, I believe
- 42:14Speaker 1: that is what we are to believe in that moment,
- 42:16Speaker 1: And that's when she tells Kat that there is a
- 42:19Speaker 1: memorial for Jacob tomorrow, and Cat's pissed about the memorial
- 42:24Speaker 1: because it will come on celebrate your brother's life. I know.
- 42:27Speaker 1: There's just so many like weird things here because at
- 42:31Speaker 1: some point Delli's very much like does not want to
- 42:34Speaker 1: open the book to talking about Jacob, but I want
- 42:39Speaker 1: to have a memorial for him, which is counter to
- 42:45Speaker 1: what it is. Yeah, it's just is sad. What's happening? Yeah,
- 42:49Speaker 1: Dell's mad that Cat hasn't been there, but Kat says
- 42:51Speaker 1: Dell wouldn't let her be there. Look, Dell, you again,
- 42:55Speaker 1: everybody needs therapy here. Why would Cat come home when
- 42:59Speaker 1: this is what she be coming home too? Yeah, exactly,
- 43:03Speaker 1: and she begs Kat leave it alone and let her
- 43:06Speaker 1: close the book. Y'all we need some resolution in the show. Yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 1: at least with this part, right. Yes, Elliott finds Kat
- 43:16Speaker 1: in the barn that apparently has killer cell signal, which okay,
- 43:19Speaker 1: and they talk about Jacob's memorial and Elliott is the
- 43:24Speaker 1: voice of reason here, saying, you know you got your
- 43:26Speaker 1: fresh start. Doesn't your mom deserve one? Right? However, so
- 43:31Speaker 1: Kat got her fresh start because she bounced. Yeah, and
- 43:37Speaker 1: in here we found out that Elliott was once married
- 43:40Speaker 1: as well. Well we knew that in the first episode.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Oh because Dell's divorce. Yeah, that's right, that's right. He
- 43:49Speaker 1: like he started back over. He has his fresh start
- 43:52Speaker 1: coming back to Porthhaven. Is that right? I thought, that's
- 43:55Speaker 1: that's what was mentioned. He said, like, my I had
- 43:57Speaker 1: never really left, I had one foot whatever. I was
- 44:01Speaker 1: always coming back. Yeah, exactly, Well, he was always coming
- 44:04Speaker 1: back because he knew Alice was going to be coming back,
- 44:06Speaker 1: right indeed.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And that's a great point. That's a great point. He
- 44:10Speaker 2: knew we had to come back. But you know, this
- 44:13Speaker 2: is where it all gets kind of muddy, because we
- 44:15Speaker 2: flashed back to the first episode where Elliott sees adult
- 44:20Speaker 2: Elliott sees teenage Alice for the first time, and he
- 44:22Speaker 2: has kind of a reaction. And I wonder if he
- 44:25Speaker 2: didn't know obviously because it hadn't happened yet when he
- 44:29Speaker 2: was going to meet her for the first time. So
- 44:31Speaker 2: was he always trying to get back knowing that at
- 44:34Speaker 2: some point in the future he was going to be needed,
- 44:38Speaker 2: or did Alice clue him in at some point to
- 44:42Speaker 2: when he would be needed, see what I'm saying, Like.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I did see what you're saying. I gotta get
- 44:46Speaker 1: back because Alice is coming, But I don't know when
- 44:48Speaker 1: Alice is coming or did he kind of know, Okay,
- 44:51Speaker 1: well she's fifteen, so it's got to be happening soon.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, A lot of good questions, and we learned that,
- 44:58Speaker 2: which we kind of already knew. Kat is most upset
- 45:00Speaker 2: because she wasn't able to protect Jacob. It was not
- 45:03Speaker 2: just about his disappearance because but she feels responsible. She
- 45:06Speaker 2: tells us, Yeah, right. Cat finds Alice in the kitchen.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Alice knows about the memorial, and Alice says.
- 45:13Speaker 1: I want to stay. Thanks for being willing to leave, mom,
- 45:17Speaker 1: but let's try this for more than forty eight hours. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 45:22Speaker 1: So we next see Dall's putting on her wedding ring.
- 45:25Speaker 1: She's remembering moments with Jacob. She's obviously pained. She looks
- 45:31Speaker 1: very unhappy, I mean, not unhappy, but she's grieving.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Right, So we have Alice on the couch. The next morning,
- 45:39Speaker 2: Cat approaches and it's clear that they're dressed for memorial,
- 45:42Speaker 2: heading out for that, and Alice has found the Landry
- 45:46Speaker 2: Family Almanac. Cat tells her, you know, that's where our
- 45:50Speaker 2: history is recorded, which is kind of cool.
- 45:54Speaker 1: It is cool. I don't have anything like that. That's
- 45:56Speaker 1: kind of neat, and you know, considering how old it is,
- 45:59Speaker 1: it's just sitting there on the table. It's like, that's
- 46:03Speaker 1: what I was gonna say. It's like the veil that
- 46:06Speaker 1: doesn't crumble. Yeah. Yeah, it's in remarkably good condition for
- 46:10Speaker 1: being hundreds of years old. Mm hmmm. So we get
- 46:14Speaker 1: to Jacob's memorial. There's just five of them. I was
- 46:17Speaker 1: expecting more townspeople, I guess, or something. And we get
- 46:21Speaker 1: some background actors. These people have lived here forever something.
- 46:24Speaker 1: It's Rita and the Elliott and the Yeah, I'm a
- 46:29Speaker 1: blue balloon and a balloon And I thought, listener to
- 46:33Speaker 1: Michelle is losing her damn mind if they're going to
- 46:35Speaker 1: put this balloon into the sky, right, yeah, the environmental
- 46:38Speaker 1: implications of a balloon release are no good. But we
- 46:42Speaker 1: never really it did go up, but like we never
- 46:44Speaker 1: did see it like fly away like far, so hopefully
- 46:47Speaker 1: it was just a stunt, you know. And it's rating
- 46:50Speaker 1: because of course, oh sorry, and that was That's the
- 46:53Speaker 1: other thing. Do balloons Will they fly away if it's raining?
- 46:57Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think they hover around the
- 46:59Speaker 1: ground because the brain is coming down on them. Right,
- 47:02Speaker 1: great question, great question. I don't know. This whole scene
- 47:06Speaker 1: was like really emotional. I thought, like Dell talking about
- 47:11Speaker 1: her boy and how he was just full of love,
- 47:13Speaker 1: and I thought that I was very sad for her.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I was very sad for her too, and I had
- 47:18Speaker 2: another shut up Rita moment, like this.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Was not her time to speak. What did Rita say?
- 47:23Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't even remember. But the only
- 47:26Speaker 1: two people who speak at the memorial are Dell and Rita.
- 47:29Speaker 1: It's not your turn, Rita, Rita. That's funny. No.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Delle says she wants to remember Jacob in love rather
- 47:37Speaker 2: than in fear. But Dell, you cannot remember your son
- 47:40Speaker 2: in love if you refuse to talk about him right right.
- 47:45Speaker 2: This episode really had me frustrated at some things, very frustrated.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Next thing, we have Kat telling Brady she can't do
- 47:52Speaker 2: the book deal, it's not the time. It's a sweet moment.
- 47:55Speaker 2: They have had a little bit of a breakthrough with
- 47:58Speaker 2: Cat and Alice. Alice is having a childhood moment running
- 48:01Speaker 2: around with the dog.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Everyone's doing all right, and.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Then Alice goes back to the pond and Elliott's there
- 48:08Speaker 2: and she wants to go back, specifically to see Jacob.
- 48:11Speaker 1: She realizes she doesn't have a lot of time and
- 48:13Speaker 1: she needs to see him right, so she jumps on
- 48:16Speaker 1: in and this time the pond accepts her, and we
- 48:21Speaker 1: cut to Cat and Dell in the Driftwood in Shells
- 48:23Speaker 1: living room, Driftwood in Shells, the airbn b, the Airbnb
- 48:28Speaker 1: of Port Haven.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Dell can't bring herself to put Jacob's death in the almanac,
- 48:33Speaker 2: and Kat offers to do it for her, dating it
- 48:36Speaker 2: October twenty ninth, nineteen ninety nine.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Right, which I assumes the date of his disappearance. Right.
- 48:43Speaker 1: And this is the only scene between Cat and Dell
- 48:48Speaker 1: where they are tender with each other. Yeah, finally, Yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 1: I hope, I hope we're headed towards that way, but
- 48:57Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, some of the previews seem like
- 48:59Speaker 1: we are not that way. Yeah, But we do get
- 49:02Speaker 1: a little bit more of a peek into Dell's true
- 49:04Speaker 1: persona because in her bedroom she pulls Jacob's Teddy Bear
- 49:08Speaker 1: out from under her pillow. So as frustrated as she
- 49:11Speaker 1: is with Kat for revisiting those memories, she's got some
- 49:14Speaker 1: of her own. Mm hmmm. That was kind of a
- 49:17Speaker 1: heartbreaking scene.
- 49:18Speaker 2: And the episode closes with Alice finding young Cat and Jacob,
- 49:22Speaker 2: and of course she's wet again.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Did you fall in the pond again? How we got
- 49:27Speaker 1: to figure something out here? How are we gonna make it.
- 49:29Speaker 1: That's gonna raise too many questions. She gets invited to
- 49:33Speaker 1: dinner and scene yes, that was sweet that they're like
- 49:37Speaker 1: running through the thing with Jacob and Cat. And the
- 49:41Speaker 1: show ends with a song called Flyaway by Distant Cousins,
- 49:46Speaker 1: and we do get a preview of next week's and
- 49:48Speaker 1: we see Cat seeing Alice jump in and freaking out.
- 49:52Speaker 1: So it was kind of figure out what's going on
- 49:54Speaker 1: because she's not going to resurface. So who's the homie
- 49:56Speaker 1: of the week.
- 49:57Speaker 2: I think the homie of the week this week goes
- 49:59Speaker 2: to Alice because she calls everyone on their shit. She
- 50:02Speaker 2: is tired of her mom and Dell what happened to you?
- 50:04Speaker 2: She's angry at Dele when she suggests she lost her
- 50:08Speaker 2: whole world when she lost her husband and son, while
- 50:12Speaker 2: essentially cutting off her relationship with her daughter. They won't
- 50:17Speaker 2: give her answers. She's gonna find answers, Alice. Alice is
- 50:20Speaker 2: my homie of the week. You go, Alice, You go Alice?
- 50:23Speaker 1: All right? Everybody, thank you for listening to our episode
- 50:26Speaker 1: to recap before you go. We love it if you
- 50:28Speaker 1: take a quick second and leave this podcast. A five
- 50:31Speaker 1: star reading and a review and tell your friends. Tell

- 50:36Speaker 1: out there. We appreciate it. You can always share us
- 50:39Speaker 1: on social media. Have a great week and happy listening.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Goodbye ye
