- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schreger is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. Welcome everybody. It's now week
- 0:25Speaker 1: sixteen of the NFL season. My name is Peter Schreger.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm the host of this podcast. We call it The
- 0:30Speaker 1: Season with Peter Schrager. I'm joined by my producer, Aaron
- 0:35Speaker 1: wang Kaufman, who is out in the boondocks of Maine. Aaron,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm looking at you in a log cabin. I know
- 0:44Speaker 1: it's holiday time, but there's like weird lights going on.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Are you where? What is your situation right now?
- 0:51Speaker 2: So I'm up at my parents' place for the holidays
- 0:54Speaker 2: and I am in like my dad's workshop, his wood shop,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and we have no power because there were huge storms
- 1:02Speaker 2: last night, so we're running off generators. Yeah, I'm I
- 1:06Speaker 2: know New York got hit too with a bunch of stuff,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and like.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, York dude.
- 1:11Speaker 1: First of all, thank you. I love the fact that
- 1:13Speaker 1: you still found a way to get on us the
- 1:16Speaker 1: generator Thoughts and prayers. Obviously, we always give thoughts in
- 1:20Speaker 1: prayers what we do, but this is cool, Aaron. A
- 1:24Speaker 1: week ago at this time, we had Shawn Stillado on
- 1:26Speaker 1: our podcast, It was the first time a lot of
- 1:30Speaker 1: people had ever heard of Shawn Stolato. It was fresh
- 1:33Speaker 1: off his Monday Night appearance. What a difference a week makes.
- 1:36Speaker 1: In the week that followed our clip of Shawn Stillado
- 1:40Speaker 1: being interviewed on the season with Peter Schrager not only
- 1:42Speaker 1: ran on The Today Show, then also ran on NBC
- 1:47Speaker 1: with Willie Geist on their Sunday show. He did a
- 1:50Speaker 1: whole thing on it. But more importantly, Seawan star was
- 1:54Speaker 1: like a what would you even call like in the
- 1:56Speaker 1: the superva? A super Nova's perfect all right because it burst.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Let me explained super nova in that. After doing our show,
- 2:06Speaker 1: he did Pat McAfee show, which of course got big love.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I think he did part of my interruption with the
- 2:13Speaker 1: with with Wilbond and Court. Maybe he didn't do that,
- 2:15Speaker 1: Maybe he was on another ESPN show. I'm sorry. Then
- 2:18Speaker 1: he did Barstool in Chicago. I saw them taking photos
- 2:21Speaker 1: with them, the PMT guys who I love. Then Jimmy
- 2:25Speaker 1: Fallon on Friday Night did an entire spoof not on
- 2:32Speaker 1: de veto on Stillato, like Stilado got so big that
- 2:36Speaker 1: Fallon wasn't even like here's the eight here, here's Tommy,
- 2:39Speaker 1: here's this quarterback new York. He's like, no, here's the
- 2:41Speaker 1: agent of the quarterback in New York. So then Stellato
- 2:45Speaker 1: on Friday, Adam Schefter tweeted out, we knew it from
- 2:49Speaker 1: the podcast last week. Stellato is the UH inductee this
- 2:53Speaker 1: year and one of many in a very distinguished class
- 2:57Speaker 1: to the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. Now
- 3:05Speaker 1: he goes in into Chicago, go he has a whole
- 3:07Speaker 1: induction Friday. The Schefter posts the news. Everyone has their
- 3:12Speaker 1: their jokes or their kudos. All that. I think Stillado
- 3:16Speaker 1: warmed up. A lot of people warmed up to Stillado
- 3:18Speaker 1: over these interviews. They're like, all right, this guy, he's
- 3:20Speaker 1: got two clients in the NFL right now. One of
- 3:22Speaker 1: them is is time of de Vito. You got to
- 3:24Speaker 1: respect it, the Veto and him. It's a family thing.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's great Sunday rolls around and I'll give you a
- 3:32Speaker 1: little behind the curtain. I've got to give a I've
- 3:37Speaker 1: done millions of interviews where people ask me what's the
- 3:40Speaker 1: differentiator between your Good Morning Football work and your Fox
- 3:43Speaker 1: NFL kickoff work? So on Good Morning Football Monday to Friday,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I look at myself more as host, analyst, entertainer, content insider.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So when it comes to draft and like coaching hires,
- 3:56Speaker 1: like I'll put on the insider hat first. But day
- 4:00Speaker 1: to day we have the services of Ian Rappaport and
- 4:02Speaker 1: Tom Pelsaro and Mike Rafo. They're gonna be the ones
- 4:04Speaker 1: who we're gonna tell you if Allen Hurts is going
- 4:08Speaker 1: through a sickness. They're gonna be the ones to tell
- 4:09Speaker 1: you that Shaq Leonard might actually sign with the Eagles
- 4:12Speaker 1: or the Cowboys. Like that's there on the weekends, I
- 4:16Speaker 1: am insider. That is my role. Inside around Fox, We've
- 4:19Speaker 1: got a show and it's Carissa Thompson, the Lovely, amazing CHRISA. Thompson,
- 4:24Speaker 1: with Julian Edelman, Charles Woodson, Michael Vick and myself. It
- 4:29Speaker 1: is us. It is not the four of them and
- 4:31Speaker 1: then Shrieker you know, come in. I am in every
- 4:34Speaker 1: segment and my job is to give you little info
- 4:36Speaker 1: as we lead up to kickoff. There's a very specific
- 4:39Speaker 1: role and I love it, but it's here's the stuff
- 4:42Speaker 1: that you don't know yet. And I've done millions of
- 4:44Speaker 1: interviews where I explain in that role, my sole purpose
- 4:47Speaker 1: is in that a block from seven am, or in
- 4:50Speaker 1: this case it's it's eleven am Eastern till about eleven ten.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The first six minutes are going to be those guys
- 4:56Speaker 1: talking about the headlines and they're going to toss to
- 4:58Speaker 1: me and for four minutes, I want to give you
- 5:01Speaker 1: the viewers three things you don't know yet. And you've
- 5:05Speaker 1: already been watching NFL work for five hours, a new
- 5:08Speaker 1: pregame getting ready. We've everve been watching schefter. He's already
- 5:10Speaker 1: had three hits. What can I give that no one
- 5:13Speaker 1: else has? And sometimes it's like the Kingsbury nugget from
- 5:16Speaker 1: last year where I'm like, you know, Kingsbury brought a
- 5:19Speaker 1: one way ticket to Thailand and boom, there's my scoop.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Another example would be Trevor Lawrence last week in their
- 5:26Speaker 1: game against Cleveland. Everyone's hedging their bets. Everyone's riding the fence.
- 5:29Speaker 1: He might play, he might not. We're gonna see it's
- 5:31Speaker 1: a game time decision. Well an actives are out at
- 5:33Speaker 1: eleven thirty. I have no problem, you know, boasting and
- 5:36Speaker 1: tooting my horns saying at eleven am, I come on Fox,
- 5:38Speaker 1: like Lawrence is gonna play? Why Because someone there in
- 5:42Speaker 1: the team told me Lawren's gonna play. He's gonna play,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and he played this week. Come out there. I do
- 5:48Speaker 1: a little couple, couple easy ones and say, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: here's the day. It's on Rodgers. I give some nuggets
- 5:53Speaker 1: and no one has on Rodgers about how the week
- 5:55Speaker 1: went and the conversations that are having. Okay, fine, check
- 5:57Speaker 1: the box, all right, next thing, Tyreek, we actually don't
- 6:02Speaker 1: know yet. And I know that doesn't sound like news,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but let me explain to you this is truly as
- 6:06Speaker 1: I'm speaking to you on TV at eleven oh five,
- 6:09Speaker 1: he is working out as we speak. He'll give a
- 6:11Speaker 1: thumbs up our thumbs down at about seven minutes. Come
- 6:13Speaker 1: to me after commercial, which we did, and I said,
- 6:14Speaker 1: he's not gonna play. Houston Texans, no Stroud, no Nico.
- 6:18Speaker 1: They're up against it, but they love case Keenum. Here's
- 6:21Speaker 1: what case Keenum did this week for you. But my scoop,
- 6:25Speaker 1: my scoop of the week, if you will, if you
- 6:28Speaker 1: want to get into the punts, my scoop de jure.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I had shown Stillado's outfit before anyone else had it.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I texted Stilado Sunday morning. I said I know this
- 6:39Speaker 1: sounds crazy. Send me whatever you're wearing. I want it.
- 6:42Speaker 1: He's like, what, send me whatever you're wearing on the
- 6:45Speaker 1: field today. I want to be the first one to
- 6:47Speaker 1: tweet it out. I want to be the first one
- 6:49Speaker 1: to share with the audience. Stillado, the mensch that he is,
- 6:53Speaker 1: sends me this beautiful green suit, green pants, Jordan's all
- 7:03Speaker 1: laid out and on the green turtle little neck. On
- 7:08Speaker 1: the green suit, there is a patch. And the patch
- 7:11Speaker 1: is the official patch that you receive once you are
- 7:14Speaker 1: an inducted member to the National Italian American Sports Hall
- 7:21Speaker 1: of Fame. Now I show this picture, ninety five percent
- 7:26Speaker 1: of the audience on Twitter loving it, like yes, this
- 7:29Speaker 1: guy's five percent of them hating it, like this is
- 7:33Speaker 1: enough for done the craziest thing. And I have not
- 7:38Speaker 1: followed up with Sean because I will tell you we'll
- 7:40Speaker 1: close the loop on Sean in a bit. Someone told
- 7:43Speaker 1: me they don't give out jackets there. What do you mean,
- 7:46Speaker 1: no one? They Okay, they give out patches, they don't
- 7:50Speaker 1: give out jackets on.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So Friday morning he takes the patch and gets a
- 7:57Speaker 2: custom made jacket for it.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Sounds like there was a sewing on situation. Whether he
- 8:04Speaker 1: already had the custom suit or it was a custom
- 8:08Speaker 1: suit that was made specifically for the patch, I cannot confirm.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I had not heard from Sean, but someone and there
- 8:14Speaker 1: are a lot of let me tell you something, the
- 8:16Speaker 1: agent community. If you think high school is a caddy community,
- 8:22Speaker 1: wait till you talk to some agents. And the love
- 8:24Speaker 1: that I've been giving Sean Stillado and the fact that
- 8:26Speaker 1: I had Shaun Stellato an agent on this podcast, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: have heard from no less than twenty agents calling me
- 8:31Speaker 1: a clown for having that guy on the podcast but
- 8:34Speaker 1: not highlighting the great work that I do with my clients.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And I've got this guy who was undrafted and then Yo,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I went to Villanovo, but then from Villanova had to
- 8:42Speaker 1: walk onto the CFL and I've been with them three
- 8:44Speaker 1: have me on the pocket. Stellato Stillado stirs up a
- 8:48Speaker 1: lot of feelings for people. Some people like it, some
- 8:52Speaker 1: people don't. I didn't watch the Manning cast. I don't
- 8:56Speaker 1: typically watch the Manning cast. I usually have Joe Buck
- 8:58Speaker 1: and Troy Aikman and I get really dialed in on
- 9:01Speaker 1: the down and distance and all that stuff. Someone texted
- 9:03Speaker 1: me that Peyton or Eli or both actually apologize for
- 9:08Speaker 1: the way they talked to us, talked down to Tolatto
- 9:10Speaker 1: last week, which I appreciate. So then the game starts
- 9:14Speaker 1: and the Saints sacks you know, Tommy DeVito seven times.
- 9:19Speaker 1: As they're doing it. The Saints players are doing the
- 9:23Speaker 1: whole fingers thing, and you could feel that kind of
- 9:25Speaker 1: the balloon, you know, the air coming out of and
- 9:30Speaker 1: then Darren Rvel takes if we're gonna live in that world?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Takes an absolute club to the knees to Stellato and
- 9:38Speaker 1: too tweets out the news that that Tommy had agreed
- 9:42Speaker 1: upon pizza shop appearance for ten grand, then backed out
- 9:46Speaker 1: they needed more after the Packers win. And then it
- 9:49Speaker 1: all feels like it's kind of wheezing on air right now.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And I'll be honest, I haven't heard from Sean Stillado
- 9:54Speaker 1: over the last twenty four hours. I just texted him, Hey,
- 9:56Speaker 1: checking in on you, So I'm sure he's dealing with
- 9:58Speaker 1: a lot of that. Moreover, the Giants announced they go
- 10:03Speaker 1: they're going back to the Veto for Christmas Day, So
- 10:06Speaker 1: here was my thing. I know, it feels like it
- 10:10Speaker 1: might have hit its peak and now we're on the
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know we're going down. I'm not quite done with
- 10:16Speaker 1: the tummy de Vito story. If if you take what
- 10:19Speaker 1: happened to the Eagles over the last month, three straight losses,
- 10:23Speaker 1: firing a defensive coordinator or reassigning a defensive coordinator, world
- 10:27Speaker 1: is melting in Philly. And the history that the Eagles
- 10:30Speaker 1: and Giants have had of the last few years, where
- 10:32Speaker 1: the Eagles who just dominated the Giants in these games.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I believe there is still some legs left in this
- 10:39Speaker 1: de Vito story. If the Veto goes in to Philly
- 10:42Speaker 1: on Christmas beats the Eagles, it's a huge deal. But
- 10:48Speaker 1: then they play the Rams who are fighting for a
- 10:50Speaker 1: playoff spot on New Year's Eve. If the Vito can
- 10:52Speaker 1: do that, then they get the Eagles again the final
- 10:55Speaker 1: week of the season. So as we thought that this
- 10:58Speaker 1: thing might have died in New Orleans or it might
- 11:01Speaker 1: be done and okay it's time for Tyrod Taylor, I
- 11:04Speaker 1: am not done with DeVito. I still think there's a
- 11:06Speaker 1: little bit more to the de Vito story and there
- 11:08Speaker 1: could be a silver lining to all this thing where
- 11:10Speaker 1: he plays spoiler now and the Giants have these wild
- 11:14Speaker 1: three weeks where the Veto rides off into the sunset
- 11:16Speaker 1: into the offseason, gets a legitimate contract from the team.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Is the backup going forward, or at the very least
- 11:22Speaker 1: can compete for that starting job moving forward. But a wild,
- 11:26Speaker 1: wild seven days. You know, last Thursday, Tommy DeVito was
- 11:30Speaker 1: on the front cover and the back cover of the
- 11:32Speaker 1: New York Post. As much as we love the Davito
- 11:35Speaker 1: story and shown Stillano not if we're doing the season
- 11:38Speaker 1: with Peter Schrager. That was a last week story. I
- 11:41Speaker 1: think this week it's it's teams that are ascending and
- 11:45Speaker 1: then teams that are melting down. And it's amazing to
- 11:48Speaker 1: me the difference what a couple of weeks make. You know,
- 11:52Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles have now lost three straight games. They
- 11:56Speaker 1: have reassigned their defensive coordinator, Sean de Side to some
- 11:59Speaker 1: box upstairs and I don't even know what his title is.
- 12:01Speaker 1: They showed him on the ESPN broadcast. But the Eagles
- 12:05Speaker 1: now have that Patricia defensive coordinator their offense teams in Nimick.
- 12:09Speaker 1: They've lost three straight games. They are suddenly this team
- 12:11Speaker 1: in a crosshairs. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills, when they lost
- 12:15Speaker 1: to the Eagles just three weeks ago, we were ready
- 12:17Speaker 1: to write them off. They were done. They were in
- 12:19Speaker 1: thirteenth place. I think in the AFC they are now
- 12:22Speaker 1: the team that no one wants to see. We kind
- 12:24Speaker 1: of laid it out on the podcast couple of weeks ago,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and Aaron, as a Bills fan, I said to you,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'm like, they're the team I don't want to face,
- 12:32Speaker 1: even after the loss against the Eagles. I'm like, they
- 12:34Speaker 1: played well against the Eagles, and they still have a
- 12:36Speaker 1: window to do this, and they get the buy at
- 12:38Speaker 1: the perfect time, and they just fired Ken Dorsey and
- 12:40Speaker 1: let's see Chiefs win, Cowboys win. They play the Chargers
- 12:45Speaker 1: this weekend in a game that they cannot lose, they
- 12:47Speaker 1: play the Patriots. That would be four straight wins. They'd
- 12:50Speaker 1: be knocking on the door. They'd be playing Miami in
- 12:52Speaker 1: the final week of the season, which who knows what
- 12:54Speaker 1: that could be. I just want to lay this out
- 12:58Speaker 1: some of the games coming up in the next few weeks.
- 13:01Speaker 1: This weekend, you have a Dolphins Cowboys game on Sunday.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Circle that huge, so big. On Monday night, you have
- 13:09Speaker 1: Ravens at forty nine Ers huge Circle that all right.
- 13:13Speaker 1: The following week, you have Dolphins Ravens circle it. You
- 13:18Speaker 1: also have Bengals Chiefs circle it, and then you have
- 13:21Speaker 1: the week eighteen stuff where it's just absolute pandemonium as
- 13:25Speaker 1: far as into divisional games. I'm just saying this, The
- 13:29Speaker 1: eighteen week season is so freaking long and yet the
- 13:33Speaker 1: thinnest of margins, and it changes week to week to week.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Slap me next year, Aaron. If a team in week
- 13:39Speaker 1: eleven or week twelve has a losing record, and I'm like,
- 13:43Speaker 1: they're done, they stink whatever, because I've learned it now
- 13:47Speaker 1: with a the Bengals, b the Buffalo Bills, and see
- 13:55Speaker 1: my dear brother Sean McVay and is Los Angeles Rams.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Those are three teams I don't want to see in
- 14:00Speaker 1: the playoffs. And I even mentioned the Browns and Flaco.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So if we're doing the season, I have to be
- 14:06Speaker 1: true to the season. It isn't decided in October. It's
- 14:09Speaker 1: not even decided Thanksgiving. The season is decided in these weeks,
- 14:14Speaker 1: the final five weeks of the season. And here we
- 14:17Speaker 1: are and every game matters, and thirty teams are still alive.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Only two have been eliminated, actually three, I think the
- 14:24Speaker 1: Jets were eliminated now, but it's that wide open. It
- 14:28Speaker 1: is that wild, and that's why we do this thing.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Speaking of the schedule, I love our guests today. If
- 14:34Speaker 1: you're a football wonk, you love this. If you are
- 14:38Speaker 1: curious about where to find your teams and where you're
- 14:40Speaker 1: gonna be watching football over the holiday weekend, you're gonna
- 14:42Speaker 1: love this. With no further ado, It's one of our
- 14:44Speaker 1: favorite guests on the podcast. He comes on time to time,
- 14:47Speaker 1: especially during the scheduling part of the season where we
- 14:50Speaker 1: get that schedule announcement, usually the week leading up to
- 14:53Speaker 1: and then we do a little PostScript afterwards. He's one
- 14:55Speaker 1: of my favorite guys who works for the league. He
- 14:57Speaker 1: is the VP of scheduling and planning and broadcasting and
- 15:02Speaker 1: I messed that all up, but you get the point.
- 15:04Speaker 1: He's our guy. Mike Northwell them back to the season
- 15:07Speaker 1: with Peter Schreger.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Morning, buddy, how are you doing today?
- 15:10Speaker 1: I'm good? Is it insulting with some of his botches?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Your title like that? Or is it like, oh, we're
- 15:13Speaker 1: all friend, let's just keep titles.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Are titles are silly? Right? We're all in, all of
- 15:19Speaker 3: us on everything, and there are days when my job
- 15:22Speaker 3: is nothing but scheduling, and there are days when the
- 15:25Speaker 3: job really has nothing to do with scheduling, and we're
- 15:27Speaker 3: all about interacting with the clubs or a stadium manager,
- 15:30Speaker 3: a field operator, or the officiating department or a million
- 15:35Speaker 3: other things going on. So it depends on the day,
- 15:37Speaker 3: but basically we're all in this together and we're all
- 15:40Speaker 3: just hoping for good outcomes every weekend.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I thought this would be a great week to have
- 15:44Speaker 1: you because we have this really interesting back to back
- 15:47Speaker 1: weeks of unorthodox scheduling where there's games that are on Saturdays,
- 15:53Speaker 1: but also you know, Monday night games are still in play,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and then we head to the Christmas holiday where, gosh,
- 15:59Speaker 1: it's hard to get my head. All right, we do
- 16:01Speaker 1: have a Thursday night game as we record this, you
- 16:02Speaker 1: have a really good one. Saints at Rams take us
- 16:06Speaker 1: through the rest of the Christmas weekend. A lot of
- 16:08Speaker 1: listeners are still in their week fifteen brains as they
- 16:12Speaker 1: listening on this on Tuesday and Wednesday. What is up
- 16:15Speaker 1: ahead and how you guys sort of saw this from
- 16:17Speaker 1: a thirty foot thirty thousand foot lens.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you talk about unorthodox windows, If that's
- 16:24Speaker 3: the right word for it, I think these unorthodox windows
- 16:27Speaker 3: are becoming orthodox. You know, the nine thirty am games
- 16:33Speaker 3: at one point, where what are you guys doing? The
- 16:36Speaker 3: Thursday night schedule was new to everybody. It wasn't that
- 16:39Speaker 3: long ago, right, Most of our games were Sundays at
- 16:42Speaker 3: one and four o'clock. So always looking to spread out
- 16:45Speaker 3: the quality inventory, always looking to have football on television
- 16:49Speaker 3: for our fans to watch, particularly as you get down
- 16:51Speaker 3: the stretch here, like you were just I think alluding
- 16:53Speaker 3: to it is the most wonderful time of the year, right,
- 16:57Speaker 3: All these games matter, you know, best laid plans in May,
- 17:00Speaker 3: some things we got right. Some things the crystal ball
- 17:02Speaker 3: was a little cloudy, But all these games matter down
- 17:05Speaker 3: the stretch. So having an opportunity to kind of spread
- 17:08Speaker 3: them out across the weekend instead of all of them
- 17:09Speaker 3: concentrated at one o'clock and four o'clock Eastern time on Sunday,
- 17:12Speaker 3: where it's still a great experience for the fan to
- 17:14Speaker 3: be flipping around and trying to follow everything, whether it's
- 17:17Speaker 3: for your fantasy football playoffs or your favorite team making
- 17:19Speaker 3: a playoff run. But if we can kind of spread
- 17:22Speaker 3: them out a little bit, get them into more national windows,
- 17:25Speaker 3: we can almost kind of reintroduce some of these teams
- 17:28Speaker 3: to the fans as we head into the playoffs. There
- 17:30Speaker 3: are teams obviously, you know Dallas, Kansas City. Those guys
- 17:33Speaker 3: are on national television quite a bit. So I don't
- 17:36Speaker 3: think fans don't know who the quarterbacks of those teams are.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But some of these other teams, as you come down
- 17:41Speaker 3: the stretch here, are going to get a chance to
- 17:43Speaker 3: play in national windows and almost kind of reintroduce themselves
- 17:46Speaker 3: to the fans as we head into January because some
- 17:48Speaker 3: of these guys might be making pretty deep playoff runs.
- 17:51Speaker 3: So you mentioned it starts on Thursday. This week, Saints
- 17:53Speaker 3: rams big one in the NFC. We head into the
- 17:58Speaker 3: weekend with Saturday games. Look the Saturdays we play on
- 18:04Speaker 3: Saturdays late in the season, right, we always I always have.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I remember going back to when I was a kid
- 18:08Speaker 1: loving those Saturday games once the college season ended.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's great, Like we said, those are games
- 18:13Speaker 3: that are otherwise going to get lost on a Sunday afternoon.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Last weekend was a what I would call a traditional
- 18:19Speaker 3: Saturday afternoon where we played the NFL Network tripleheader. Got
- 18:23Speaker 3: some serendipitous breaks for us to have all six of
- 18:26Speaker 3: those teams playoff relevant, all three of those games being
- 18:29Speaker 3: pretty impactful. This weekend a little bit different because the
- 18:35Speaker 3: Sunday night window is Christmas Eve. NBC approached us and
- 18:39Speaker 3: asked if they could look at moving to Saturday, something
- 18:43Speaker 3: we were considering, and then the conversations really kind of
- 18:47Speaker 3: solidified around Peacock and Peacock joining in the family now
- 18:51Speaker 3: as a Wildcard site as a host of a Wildcard game.
- 18:54Speaker 3: So wanted to think about with NBC the right way
- 18:58Speaker 3: to kind of introduce two fans that this is here
- 19:01Speaker 3: to stay. And so what we're doing this Saturday is
- 19:03Speaker 3: sort of a dry run for Wildcard weekend. We're going
- 19:05Speaker 3: to do Big NBC Saturday afternoon four thirty, and it's
- 19:08Speaker 3: gonna lead in drive in promote into a Peacock game
- 19:12Speaker 3: on Saturday night, and obviously Wildcard. We're gonna know the
- 19:15Speaker 3: six wild Card games. We're gonna dole them out strategically
- 19:18Speaker 3: across the weekend and across the partners. But this one
- 19:21Speaker 3: was a little tougher. We had to pick a game
- 19:23Speaker 3: in May that we thought was gonna make sense for
- 19:25Speaker 3: Big NBC on Saturday afternoon, and then it was gonna
- 19:28Speaker 3: lead into a Peacock game Saturday night. First time we're
- 19:32Speaker 3: having a regular season game on Peacock and looked for that,
- 19:36Speaker 3: you know, typical Sunday night football late in the season.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Steelers Bengals just sounded right, We're there. It's obviously a
- 19:43Speaker 3: little different than what we thought it was gonna look
- 19:44Speaker 3: like with a couple of backup quarterbacks, but both teams
- 19:47Speaker 3: still squarely in it. So that Steelers Bengals late season,
- 19:51Speaker 3: you know, decide playoff positioning feels good. Yeah for NBC,
- 19:56Speaker 3: Big NBC Saturday, and then that leads into the Peacock
- 19:59Speaker 3: game back in May, kind of took a flyer on
- 20:01Speaker 3: a game like Bill's Chargers. Felt like those were two
- 20:04Speaker 3: teams that might be there down the stretch, big exciting storylines,
- 20:08Speaker 3: quarterbacks and like we said, hopefully playoff implications. Obviously losing
- 20:12Speaker 3: justin Herbert Hurtz, but heck, the Bills might be the
- 20:15Speaker 3: most exciting team in the league right now. So yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 3: Big NBC leading into wildcard I'm sorry, leading into Peacock
- 20:23Speaker 3: this Saturday coming up, and then we're gonna run it
- 20:25Speaker 3: back on wild Card weekend. Big NBC leading in the Peace.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Interesting, So this is all new to me, so good
- 20:29Speaker 1: questions here from your man Schreker. The broadcast teams though,
- 20:34Speaker 1: I saw we had Melissa Stark on and I've been
- 20:35Speaker 1: talking to Tarrico. They're on the Peacock call this week
- 20:39Speaker 1: on on the Peacock app and you can find it
- 20:42Speaker 1: streaming obviously everywhere on the NBC call. Do you guys
- 20:44Speaker 1: know the announcers yet for that Steelers Bengals game?
- 20:47Speaker 3: I think it's the Notre Dame crew. Okay, okay, that's
- 20:51Speaker 3: on it.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's an NBC question, it's an HONY question, but interesting
- 20:54Speaker 1: to note. You're not gonna get your familiar Collins Worth
- 20:57Speaker 1: in Tarrico on big NBC. You're gonna get them on Peacock.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But when we go to the playoffs, it's also going
- 21:03Speaker 1: to be back to back Peacock into NBC the same thing,
- 21:05Speaker 1: or we don't know.
- 21:06Speaker 3: It's definitely going to be from a scheduling standpoint, it's
- 21:08Speaker 3: definitely going to be a big NBC in the afternoon
- 21:10Speaker 3: leading into Peacock. I think we're all going to see
- 21:12Speaker 3: how this weekend goes before we determine, you know, the
- 21:15Speaker 3: right sequencing of the games. Do you want the bigger
- 21:17Speaker 3: game in the afternoon on broadcast, leading into driving promoting
- 21:22Speaker 3: into the streaming game. Or if you really want to
- 21:25Speaker 3: get people excited about the streaming product, do you put
- 21:27Speaker 3: the better game there? I mean, that will certainly get
- 21:30Speaker 3: a lot of attention. These are the same kind of
- 21:32Speaker 3: conversations we have all the time, as you know, trying
- 21:34Speaker 3: to find the best use of each of these games. Yeah, look,
- 21:38Speaker 3: Turco Rico's a machine. That guy is a legend.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Just find a way to do the Peacock game.
- 21:47Speaker 3: It's a better question for you if you talk to
- 21:48Speaker 3: somebody from NBC. But but I think you know, it
- 21:50Speaker 3: just shows NBC's commitment to the Peacock experience that they're
- 21:55Speaker 3: going to put the regular Sunday Night crew, including the talent,
- 21:58Speaker 3: on the Peacock game.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And we've kind of had a dry run with the
- 22:00Speaker 1: Amazon and we've had ESPN Plus with the Jaguars Falcons
- 22:05Speaker 1: over in London earlier this year, so well, we're kind
- 22:07Speaker 1: of getting more and more used to the streaming. You know,
- 22:10Speaker 1: for a fact, this is going to be one where
- 22:11Speaker 1: everyone is going to be tweeting and asking where the
- 22:13Speaker 1: hell do I find this game? It's it's an interesting discussion. Now,
- 22:19Speaker 1: with the Bills still having a lot of relevance and
- 22:22Speaker 1: the Chargers being down, was there any discussion of flipping
- 22:24Speaker 1: those two and saying maybe putting Bill's Chargers on the
- 22:28Speaker 1: four thirty window and maybe flopping Steelers Bengals the later one.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I'm sure there was. I don't think it was really
- 22:36Speaker 3: that serious. I think the idea all along was the
- 22:40Speaker 3: you know, call it traditional if you will, like the
- 22:42Speaker 3: more traditional late season divisional battle sounds like the broadcast
- 22:47Speaker 3: television offering. And then, like you said, we've been dipping
- 22:51Speaker 3: our toe into the water on streaming for years. Certainly
- 22:54Speaker 3: Amazon has demonstrated the ability to deliver you know, broadcast
- 22:58Speaker 3: level numbers on Thursday nights. So the streaming is obviously strategic,
- 23:02Speaker 3: obviously important, but also here to stay. I think this
- 23:05Speaker 3: is the new normal. And like you said, what used
- 23:08Speaker 3: to be non traditional windows, non traditional broadcast partners. I
- 23:11Speaker 3: think these things are going to become more traditional down
- 23:13Speaker 3: the road. And I think, like we said, Bill's Chargers
- 23:15Speaker 3: in May sounded fun, felt fun, still relevant, It's still good.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Obviously didn't necessarily see East and Stick in our crystal ball,
- 23:23Speaker 3: but you know, the Bills still have everything to play
- 23:25Speaker 3: for and playing really good. So I think it's it's
- 23:28Speaker 3: still gonna be fun for the fans to find. And
- 23:30Speaker 3: you're right. If fans are still wondering at eight o'clock
- 23:33Speaker 3: on Saturday night, where's this game, we haven't done a
- 23:36Speaker 3: good job promoting it and explaining it's part.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Of the reason why we have you on today. Is
- 23:40Speaker 1: kind of helped, you know, spread the word.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Always happy to do it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So that's Saturday. Then we go to Christmas Eve, which
- 23:52Speaker 1: is this real interesting kind of mesh of traditional Sunday
- 23:57Speaker 1: but then interesting wrinkle at night. Am I wrong?
- 24:00Speaker 3: No? No, you got a one hundred percent right. Once
- 24:01Speaker 3: NBC kind of approached us with, hey, is there a
- 24:04Speaker 3: way to move off of Sunday night football that we
- 24:07Speaker 3: and they've played on Christmas Eve before, they've played on
- 24:09Speaker 3: Christmas Day before, like sometimes the calendar just falls where
- 24:12Speaker 3: it falls on NFL days. But once we started thinking
- 24:15Speaker 3: about moving NBC Big NBC to Saturday to use it
- 24:19Speaker 3: as to drive into peacock, we had a Sunday night
- 24:22Speaker 3: window where you know, like you said, most Sundays we
- 24:25Speaker 3: play on Sunday night after a usual CBS and Fox
- 24:28Speaker 3: afternoon slate and that's where an NFL network opportunity comes in.
- 24:32Speaker 3: You talk about unorthodox windows. Think about all the different
- 24:34Speaker 3: places NFL network's been this year with the nine thirty
- 24:37Speaker 3: ams and then the triple header on Saturday. Now we've
- 24:40Speaker 3: got Christmas Eve. There's sort of the glue that kind
- 24:44Speaker 3: of holds it all together. When there's a window that
- 24:46Speaker 3: is appropriate for NFL football on NFL Network, you know,
- 24:51Speaker 3: broadcast crew and talent, it sounds like football, it feels
- 24:55Speaker 3: like football. Obviously, Patriots Broncos isn't everything. We hope it
- 24:58Speaker 3: would be back in May, but the Broncos are still
- 25:00Speaker 3: squarely on these things. So you know, lucky enough to
- 25:03Speaker 3: have all these windows with at least one, if not
- 25:05Speaker 3: two teams still in playoff contention, and then all that
- 25:09Speaker 3: will still then leave another triple header for Monday for Christmas.
- 25:13Speaker 3: We had phenomenal success last year. I think you and
- 25:16Speaker 3: I talked about this in May. We always talked about
- 25:18Speaker 3: the incredible viewership and ratings for NFL games. Whatever it is,
- 25:23Speaker 3: forty eight of the top fifty, ninety seven of the
- 25:25Speaker 3: top one hundred. Maybe the most impressive rating from last
- 25:28Speaker 3: year might have been that Broncos Rams Christmas game.
- 25:30Speaker 1: We talked about it. It was kind of.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Playing out the string and still twenty three twenty five
- 25:35Speaker 3: million people watching. So this year the triple header shaping
- 25:39Speaker 3: up to be pretty sexy. Really excited about this again.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I think we talked about this and may kind of
- 25:44Speaker 3: go out to the clubs and ask who'd be interested.
- 25:48Speaker 3: How do you think your fans would react to coming
- 25:49Speaker 3: out on Christmas? And Kansas City and Philly both kind
- 25:52Speaker 3: of put their hands up. San Francisco as well, And
- 25:54Speaker 3: then you try to slot in the right opponents, and yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 3: you got three games that are pretty relevant for just
- 26:00Speaker 3: about everybody and culminating with maybe Game of the Year
- 26:04Speaker 3: type stuff. When you're thinking about Ravens Niners on Monday.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Night, think about that Ravens at Niners Monday Night, Christmas Day,
- 26:11Speaker 1: Christmas evening. But like I'm gonna go backwards. You got
- 26:16Speaker 1: Cowboys Dolphins on Sunday, and that's good point. There's a
- 26:20Speaker 1: Monster game also in the middle of the sandwich that
- 26:25Speaker 1: day is but three days? Was that? So? Is that
- 26:27Speaker 1: moving forward or is it just because well, obviously because
- 26:30Speaker 1: Christmas falls on a Monday, But are we gonna always
- 26:32Speaker 1: do a Christmas Day triple header.
- 26:33Speaker 3: And now I think I don't know about always. I mean,
- 26:36Speaker 3: I think Christmas is a Wednesday next year, So I'm
- 26:38Speaker 3: not sure we're gonna I'm not sure we're gonna get
- 26:40Speaker 3: in there. But there's gonna be days when Christmas falls on,
- 26:44Speaker 3: you know, normal NFL days quote unquote, like on a
- 26:46Speaker 3: Thursday in a couple of years, like Amazon will be
- 26:49Speaker 3: there would there be room for another game in the
- 26:51Speaker 3: afternoon maybe, But when it falls on like this Saturday, Sunday,
- 26:55Speaker 3: Monday kind of in our traditional wheelhouse, Yeah, we've got
- 26:59Speaker 3: the inventory if we feel like we can still make
- 27:01Speaker 3: decent Sunday afternoon schedules like you hinted at, you know,
- 27:04Speaker 3: you take all the best inventory off of Sunday and
- 27:07Speaker 3: you put it on Thursday or Saturday or Monday. What's
- 27:10Speaker 3: left for Sunday afternoon. That's still the lifeblood of this league.
- 27:13Speaker 3: That's still where most fans, you know, watch their home
- 27:16Speaker 3: team at one o'clock and then a big doubleheader like
- 27:18Speaker 3: you said, a Cowboys Dolphins game this Sunday at four thirty.
- 27:22Speaker 3: You don't want to take all the inventory off of
- 27:24Speaker 3: Sunday just as you're trying to populate these other windows.
- 27:26Speaker 3: You got to leave some good stuff behind still for
- 27:29Speaker 3: like you said, the traditional, the orthodox windows. So it's
- 27:32Speaker 3: all one big dance, one big sort of accordion, a
- 27:35Speaker 3: little more, a little less, a little more flexibility, and
- 27:38Speaker 3: just trying to hopefully hit on the right games and
- 27:41Speaker 3: the right windows when you finally get to them. Here
- 27:43Speaker 3: six months, eight months, seven months after you know, the
- 27:45Speaker 3: schedule came out.
- 27:46Speaker 1: All right, So you know, I'm fascinated by this stuff.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Maybe we're fascinating the broadcasting and scheduling than the actual
- 27:51Speaker 1: football themselves. You and I always are talking on this podcast,
- 27:54Speaker 1: but I also try to like text you one off
- 27:56Speaker 1: questions I have so to explain why you wouldn't get
- 27:59Speaker 1: a flex out of Christmas Eve. You know, Broncos Patriots
- 28:04Speaker 1: that came to an NFL network. It's not NBC. See,
- 28:06Speaker 1: it's not Fox, it's not Amazon's Monday Night Football. NFL
- 28:10Speaker 1: network isn't gonna be able to flex out of anything.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So we take what we get and it's Patriots Broncos.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It's still Belichick on Christmas Eve, and it's still Russell
- 28:18Speaker 1: Wilson and Sean Payton, which now becomes a little saucier
- 28:20Speaker 1: after what we saw on the sideline last weekend.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, fascinating storylines all around. And we talked, you know,
- 28:26Speaker 3: or I talked a week or two ago with Peter King,
- 28:30Speaker 3: Jimmy train Or we were talking about flexing out of
- 28:32Speaker 3: that Patriots Monday night game, which we did, which was
- 28:34Speaker 3: Eagle Seahawks last night. You know, anybody still wanting to
- 28:38Speaker 3: follow the Patriots are going to have their opportunity. They
- 28:40Speaker 3: were on Thursday night last week. They're on Sunday night
- 28:42Speaker 3: this week and still playing hard, right, held the Chargers
- 28:45Speaker 3: to you know, six points or whatever it was, went
- 28:49Speaker 3: and gave the Chiefs all they could handle. I mean,
- 28:51Speaker 3: they're still playing hard, and anybody who doubts that, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 3: to tune in to watch they are playing hard. And
- 28:56Speaker 3: like you said, Denver, after that start, still in this thing.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Definitely an interesting.
- 29:05Speaker 1: And it's funny loss I talked about on Good Morning
- 29:07Speaker 1: Football today. If they win, they're into playoffs right now.
- 29:10Speaker 1: If they had one against Detroit, right they're in. Yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 1: The loss knocks them all the way down to eleventh
- 29:14Speaker 1: in the AFC and they're four and five in the conference,
- 29:17Speaker 1: behind even Pittsburgh.
- 29:18Speaker 3: It just shows that's marges how everybody's bunched up so tight.
- 29:22Speaker 3: One game makes all the difference, so crazy, but still
- 29:25Speaker 3: a chance to get healthy. And just to go back
- 29:26Speaker 3: on one thing you said, you know, correct, we don't
- 29:29Speaker 3: have flexible scheduling for Sunday Night. But when you say,
- 29:32Speaker 3: I know you're half joking, but NFL Network we get
- 29:34Speaker 3: what we get. Don't forget you guys have a form
- 29:36Speaker 3: of flexible schedule talking.
- 29:37Speaker 1: About we don't have.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Yes, that is true, but even the TVD stuff on Saturday,
- 29:44Speaker 3: you know, like we said, allowed us to pick three
- 29:45Speaker 3: of five get three good games on for NFL Network.
- 29:48Speaker 3: And I think our fans, our clubs, our stadium operators,
- 29:51Speaker 3: and our broadcasters are kind of getting used to this
- 29:54Speaker 3: concept of TBD. You have to be a little bit flexible.
- 29:57Speaker 3: We all do. Everything's written in pencil, and we're guessing,
- 29:59Speaker 3: you know, six months ago, which of these games are
- 30:01Speaker 3: going to matter, and then we haven't gotten there yet.
- 30:04Speaker 3: But as we look ahead to Week eighteen, literally really
- 30:06Speaker 3: every game is TBD, all sixteen games Week eighteen could
- 30:10Speaker 3: be Saturday, could be Sunday, could be Sunday Night. I
- 30:13Speaker 3: think this TBD flexibility decide when we get closer shorter
- 30:16Speaker 3: runway obviously helps us put the right games in the
- 30:19Speaker 3: right window.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Okay, this is interesting. So we're in week sixteen now,
- 30:21Speaker 1: we just went through the slate. Are there Saturday games
- 30:24Speaker 1: on Week seventeen?
- 30:25Speaker 3: Are there Saturday games in Week seventeen? There are again
- 30:29Speaker 3: a little non traditional. We're not playing the NFL Network
- 30:33Speaker 3: triple header, Okay, but we're playing ESPN Monday Night Football
- 30:37Speaker 3: on Saturday on Saturday Night Monday, January one. Traditional Bowl
- 30:42Speaker 3: games they've got I think the two CFP semifinals, y
- 30:45Speaker 3: So we're gonna move the Monday Night Football game from
- 30:49Speaker 3: Week seventeen to Saturday night December, and again talk about
- 30:52Speaker 3: rolling the dice. That's December thirtieth, and that's Detroit Dallas,
- 30:56Speaker 3: and so again in May you know, Lions Cowboys. You
- 31:00Speaker 3: hoped was going to be pretty relevant down the stretch.
- 31:02Speaker 3: It's probably bigger than we could have expected. Game could
- 31:05Speaker 3: have two teams playing for the one seed, depending on
- 31:07Speaker 3: what happens on Christmas out in San France. So yeah,
- 31:10Speaker 3: that'll be a Saturday game. Week seventeen, it'll be Saturday
- 31:13Speaker 3: night only, and then a full slate of Sunday including
- 31:16Speaker 3: Sunday Night on NBC no NFL game on Monday of seventeen.
- 31:21Speaker 3: The good news is that I'll allow us to set
- 31:22Speaker 3: the week eighteen schedule Sunday night instead of Monday night,
- 31:26Speaker 3: so everybody gets a twenty four hour head start on
- 31:28Speaker 3: planning and charters, hotels, tickets, traveling.
- 31:32Speaker 1: You call it an accordion. I think it's a beautiful puzzle.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Like it's cool to watch it un fould. I love
- 31:37Speaker 1: dissecting it. That game, That Saturday night game is a
- 31:40Speaker 1: huge one. Lions, Cowboys. Did you say that's on ESPN
- 31:43Speaker 1: or ESPN plus? What's the is it streaming? Is it not?
- 31:45Speaker 1: I just want to get it all on my head.
- 31:47Speaker 3: That one's on ESPN and ABC, that one simulcast on
- 31:50Speaker 3: both like they've done for most of the Monday nights
- 31:53Speaker 3: this year.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It's a monster game, dude.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Monster game, Monster game. They've had some big ones. Obviously,
- 31:59Speaker 3: Philly case was awesome. I do think Christmas Night is
- 32:03Speaker 3: going to be great with balth San Fran and to
- 32:04Speaker 3: finish it up with Detroit Dallas, a pretty good run
- 32:07Speaker 3: for our friends from.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Oh my god, Disney doing flips right now. Okay, not
- 32:11Speaker 1: to get too ahead of ourselves. Playoffs, we now have
- 32:15Speaker 1: the seven teams in the AFC, the seven teams in
- 32:17Speaker 1: the NFC, you have the one seed getting buys, meaning
- 32:20Speaker 1: that Wildcard round is an absolute beauty. And I love
- 32:25Speaker 1: the fact there's so much football. What are the days
- 32:27Speaker 1: in the windows for the playoffs this year?
- 32:29Speaker 3: Yeah, A couple of years ago when we expanded the
- 32:31Speaker 3: playoffs and expanded the regular season, we locked into a
- 32:34Speaker 3: wild card weekend of two games on Saturday four point
- 32:39Speaker 3: thirty and eight, three games on Sunday one o'clock, four thirty,
- 32:42Speaker 3: eight o'clock, the usual, and then a Monday night wild
- 32:45Speaker 3: card game. We've had a couple of good ones there.
- 32:47Speaker 3: It was Rams Cardinals. I think last year in the
- 32:51Speaker 3: Dallas Tampa last year could be heading straight back for
- 32:54Speaker 3: Dallas Tampa. No, maybe let's see a philiate. Also, thank you.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I think you even texted me, right, I think you
- 32:59Speaker 3: texted me we might be heading for Rams Lions.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Jared Matthew Stafford.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Come on, how interesting would that be on wildcard weekend?
- 33:09Speaker 3: And plus you think about some of these brands. Now,
- 33:12Speaker 3: you know, with only one buy as you mentioned, you
- 33:14Speaker 3: know you're probably looking at a wild card weekend that's
- 33:16Speaker 3: going to include the Cowboys the Eagles, the Chiefs. I mean,
- 33:20Speaker 3: these are gonna be really good hopefully, and a lot
- 33:25Speaker 3: of team, a lot of fan interest. So as you
- 33:27Speaker 3: dole those out across the weekend, like we talked about,
- 33:30Speaker 3: we'll learn a little bit from NBC this weekend, coming
- 33:33Speaker 3: up with Big NBC in the afternoon leading into Peacock.
- 33:35Speaker 3: We'll do that again Wildcard Saturday.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Try to sequence so no matter what, there's no games
- 33:39Speaker 1: on CBS, NBC or Fox wild Card Saturday.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Not on Saturday, it's Big NBC and Peacock, Okay. Then
- 33:46Speaker 3: on Sunday is gonna be CBS, Fox, and NBC in
- 33:50Speaker 3: some order usual Sunday if you will, CBS, Fox, and NBC,
- 33:53Speaker 3: and then of course the ESPN, ABC has the Monday
- 33:56Speaker 3: wild Card. And then as you project ahead to Divisional,
- 33:59Speaker 3: everybody's got one. CBS has one, Fox has one, NBC
- 34:03Speaker 3: has won, and for the first time, ESPN and ABC
- 34:05Speaker 3: are going to join the divisional weekends.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And it'll be two games on Saturday, two games.
- 34:09Speaker 3: To Saturday, two Sunday on Saturday, three and six thirty
- 34:14Speaker 3: on Sunday, and then come back Championship Sunday.
- 34:17Speaker 1: We already know Championships Sunday, CBS has the early game.
- 34:21Speaker 1: The AFC, Fox says, the NFC they alternate every year, So.
- 34:25Speaker 3: You guys alternate every year, yep, and then Pro Bowl
- 34:28Speaker 3: games and then Super Bowl in Vegas.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Dude, this is good.
- 34:32Speaker 3: The blur man. It went fast this season flew by.
- 34:35Speaker 1: It did. But like you know, here we are before
- 34:38Speaker 1: the season, You're like, all right, we're gonna just put
- 34:41Speaker 1: this out out there. We'll help. I gotta say, Detroit,
- 34:43Speaker 1: Kansas City, a lot of people rolled their eyes, like,
- 34:45Speaker 1: awesome game, right, Uh, it was good, and the Detroit
- 34:49Speaker 1: Lions kind of made a statement early on Thanksgiving Day.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Games were great, like they all they all were relevant
- 34:56Speaker 1: teams and delivered. And then we had the big upset
- 34:58Speaker 1: in the early window and then this we're in for
- 35:02Speaker 1: a stretch run right now, where I thought weren't for
- 35:03Speaker 1: a great stretch right It's unbelievable.
- 35:05Speaker 3: This is gonna be on. All the games are gonna matter.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Look to your point earlier about having everybody bunched up
- 35:11Speaker 3: the way they are. You know, there's a couple of really, really,
- 35:14Speaker 3: really good teams, and there's obviously a couple of teams
- 35:16Speaker 3: that have looking ahead to next year everybody else is
- 35:19Speaker 3: right there in the middle, right twenty twenty two teams
- 35:21Speaker 3: throw a blanket over them. Every weekends like a playoff game.
- 35:24Speaker 3: And like you said, you could be the five seed
- 35:26Speaker 3: one day and the eleven the next. Look at Philly
- 35:28Speaker 3: and Dallas flipping around between the two and the five.
- 35:31Speaker 3: I mean, every game really matters, really impactful, and having
- 35:35Speaker 3: more of them in windows where fans can watch them
- 35:38Speaker 3: think is a good thing. Right. If they're all massed
- 35:39Speaker 3: up on a Sunday at one o'clock, it's just hard
- 35:42Speaker 3: to follow them all. It's hard to give them all
- 35:43Speaker 3: the exposure they deserve. So kind of picking out the
- 35:46Speaker 3: ones that we thought in may might be relevant, putting
- 35:49Speaker 3: them in national windows. You know, it didn't bat one hundred,
- 35:51Speaker 3: but a lot of good ones still to come.
- 35:53Speaker 1: And this might be more of a Hans or Brian
- 35:56Speaker 1: Rolapp question, but this was the first year of the
- 35:58Speaker 1: Sunday Ticket on YouTube. There's been this universal praise for it.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I fly on Jet Blue back from LA to New York.
- 36:05Speaker 1: If you want to get into it, and they have
- 36:08Speaker 1: Sunday Ticket and they have red Zone, I don't miss
- 36:10Speaker 1: an action at all. How has that partnership been in
- 36:12Speaker 1: year one because from the viewer side and the fan
- 36:14Speaker 1: engagement side, I think it's been pretty flawless. Yeah.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Look, which at the end of the day is what
- 36:18Speaker 3: matters most, Right, It's all about the fans who want
- 36:21Speaker 3: to pay for this product being able to experience it
- 36:24Speaker 3: the way they want. I've heard, you know, every day
- 36:27Speaker 3: we talk about the tiling where they let you kind
- 36:30Speaker 3: of watch whatever it is for or eight games at
- 36:32Speaker 3: a time. I know some folks are still wanting to
- 36:34Speaker 3: set their own tiles, but that's probably coming someday. But yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 3: to the best of my knowledge, you know, they're learning
- 36:40Speaker 3: as they go. It's been fifteen weeks down and still
- 36:43Speaker 3: a couple more big ones to go. But for the
- 36:44Speaker 3: most part, it sounds like technologically for anybody who was
- 36:47Speaker 3: concerned about, you know, them being able to handle the
- 36:49Speaker 3: traffic and handle the product, I haven't really heard a
- 36:53Speaker 3: lot of you know, buffering issues or unable to find
- 36:55Speaker 3: my game or any of that kind of stuff. And
- 36:57Speaker 3: you know, like we started this conversation, you know, the streamers,
- 37:01Speaker 3: the digital partners, they're here to stay there. They're nothing new,
- 37:05Speaker 3: They're not going away, and they're going to become you know,
- 37:09Speaker 3: viable homes for big NFL games. Are we going to
- 37:12Speaker 3: put a you know, an Eagles Chiefs. Are we gonna
- 37:15Speaker 3: put a really big one like that on a streaming
- 37:17Speaker 3: platform and just kind of test where the ceiling is?
- 37:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:21Speaker 3: Probably at some point. I mean, we talked a little
- 37:23Speaker 3: bit about NFL network, right, you talked about all those
- 37:25Speaker 3: nine thirty am games. You know, that Miami Kansas City
- 37:28Speaker 3: game the best games of the year and really kind
- 37:32Speaker 3: of showed you that there is broadcast level viewership out
- 37:35Speaker 3: there for streaming partners, and that one's nine thirty in
- 37:38Speaker 3: the morning and we still got to ten eleven million
- 37:40Speaker 3: get hut factor in the local Yeah, by far. I
- 37:44Speaker 3: think the most watched NFL nine thirty AM game not
- 37:48Speaker 3: the most watched NFL network game, because you guys have
- 37:50Speaker 3: you know, you guys have wandered into Christmas Day here
- 37:52Speaker 3: and there and every now and then, you know, you
- 37:54Speaker 3: stumble into something big and fun and sexy on a
- 37:57Speaker 3: big window like that. So there's been bigger NFL network games,
- 38:01Speaker 3: but there haven't been bigger nine thirty a m. Eastern
- 38:03Speaker 3: time games. So that kind of shows you, you know,
- 38:06Speaker 3: for years it was, oh, let's make sure we don't
- 38:07Speaker 3: deploy our best assets in that window because maybe you're
- 38:10Speaker 3: not getting maximum viewership. I'm not sure that's true anymore. Again,
- 38:13Speaker 3: you're approaching broadcast level viewership for streaming services for the NFL.
- 38:20Speaker 3: That's something none of us probably could have seen coming
- 38:23Speaker 3: five years ago. And who knows what the world's going
- 38:25Speaker 3: to look like five years from now.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Right, there's a lot of hand ringing and a lot
- 38:28Speaker 1: of debate, and it made for good offseason. You know,
- 38:31Speaker 1: angry calls on radio about Amazon being able to flex
- 38:35Speaker 1: their Thursday night games. You guys did not do that
- 38:38Speaker 1: this year. He didn't exercise it that year. We thought
- 38:40Speaker 1: there was going to be some difficulties with a twenty
- 38:42Speaker 1: eight day window to actually decide how to do it.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Brown's Jets is coming up. Was there any discussion? Now
- 38:49Speaker 1: you look at this, I know that Jets aren't aren't there,
- 38:51Speaker 1: But maybe Rogers and the Browns are a story.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Talk to your boy man, have Aaron play half? Why not, right?
- 38:57Speaker 3: Show us? He show us, dude, what everybody's whistled for,
- 39:00Speaker 3: what everybody whistled for. Next year him may look even
- 39:04Speaker 3: if Rogers doesn't play, Even if if you know Zach
- 39:07Speaker 3: doesn't play. You know, when we talk about primetime windows,
- 39:12Speaker 3: you know, we always said if this game is truly,
- 39:15Speaker 3: you know, no longer relevant from a playoffs standpoint, that's
- 39:17Speaker 3: really where you start thinking about flexible scheduling. If one,
- 39:20Speaker 3: hopefully both teams are still playing for something, you know,
- 39:23Speaker 3: that game still feels like it's worthy of a national window.
- 39:25Speaker 3: And for those who haven't watched Joe Flacco quarterback to
- 39:28Speaker 3: Cleveland Browns this last month, the guy looks like he
- 39:31Speaker 3: looked when he was taking the Ravens to Super Bowls.
- 39:33Speaker 3: He looks the same, you know, big, tall, strong in
- 39:36Speaker 3: the pocket, throwing dimes. And Cleveland's been good all year.
- 39:40Speaker 3: They really have think of what they've been through with
- 39:41Speaker 3: all their injuries.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Forty nine ers in the rain, like they've done it.
- 39:45Speaker 3: They are with aj Walker, Yeah, they are legit. Miles
- 39:48Speaker 3: Garrett might be, you know, best player in the league.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I don't know, but we'll say anyway, to your point,
- 39:53Speaker 3: that game is still gonna matter on Thursday. And here
- 39:56Speaker 3: we were just talking a minute ago about Hey, every weekend,
- 39:59Speaker 3: the league turns upside down. So to make a flexible
- 40:01Speaker 3: scheduling decision four weeks out is tough it's always going
- 40:05Speaker 3: to be a challenge, and I I think Roger Commissioner
- 40:08Speaker 3: Goodell excuse me, was pretty clear with ownership when we
- 40:10Speaker 3: got the vote. This is a you know, only in
- 40:14Speaker 3: case of emergency. We flexed Sunday nights once or twice
- 40:17Speaker 3: a year. We've now flexed a Monday night Thursday nights.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I think the bars is significantly higher in part because of,
- 40:24Speaker 3: you know, the days that you have to adjust for everybody.
- 40:26Speaker 3: It's not just one day or a couple hours on
- 40:27Speaker 3: a Sunday, but also it's guessing four weeks from now,
- 40:31Speaker 3: which of these games are gonna be relevant. There's as
- 40:34Speaker 3: good a chances as any that you know, Jet's Cleveland
- 40:37Speaker 3: is as good as we're gonna get. So that didn't
- 40:40Speaker 3: rise to the level of needing the flex. Cleveland's been
- 40:42Speaker 3: playing really well. They deserve the national window. And like
- 40:45Speaker 3: you said, this Ram Saints game, maybe earlier in the
- 40:47Speaker 3: season was one that people were looking at like, hey,
- 40:49Speaker 3: that might be trouble, and now it's pretty damn important
- 40:52Speaker 3: in the NFC Wild Chart chase. Not quite an elimination game,
- 40:54Speaker 3: but the winner of that game is in a great spot.
- 40:57Speaker 1: That one was always going to be hard. And this
- 40:58Speaker 1: is really in the weeds because you already had committed
- 41:01Speaker 1: LA was playing at home Saturday night with the Chargers,
- 41:04Speaker 1: so if you were to flex that Rams game to Sunday,
- 41:07Speaker 1: it would be literally hours after. But that's just me
- 41:09Speaker 1: being one of the point zero zero one percent who
- 41:12Speaker 1: looks at schedules.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Also the point zero zero one percent who are worried
- 41:17Speaker 3: about things like that. But the Chargers and Rams play
- 41:21Speaker 3: on consecutive days that Jets and Giants play on consecutive days.
- 41:25Speaker 3: We knew full well that you know, a flex that week.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Having the Chargers not at home on Sunday at least
- 41:31Speaker 3: allowed for the possibility of the Rams flex to Sunday
- 41:34Speaker 3: if we wanted to. But again, four weeks ago when
- 41:37Speaker 3: we had to make the decision, we were hopeful that
- 41:39Speaker 3: Saints Rams was still gonna be pretty impactful, probably more
- 41:42Speaker 3: than we even could have thought. I mean, the Rams
- 41:44Speaker 3: have been playing great, winning a lot of games. They
- 41:45Speaker 3: gave Baltimore all he can handle in overtime. They're playing
- 41:49Speaker 3: as well as anybody right now, did.
- 41:51Speaker 1: You guys flex anything beyond last night's Monday night game?
- 41:53Speaker 1: Has ever been any other flexes this season?
- 41:55Speaker 3: We've done some stuff on Sunday afternoons that's not technically.
- 41:58Speaker 1: The Sunday trimetime or Monday.
- 42:00Speaker 3: We haven't flexed a Sunday night game yet. We did
- 42:02Speaker 3: one Monday night, haven't flexed a Thursday. It would be
- 42:05Speaker 3: ironic in a season with all the uncertainty, all the
- 42:08Speaker 3: quarterback injuries, all the upheaval, to only have one primetime
- 42:12Speaker 3: flex this year. But again, I think that's indicative of
- 42:15Speaker 3: you know where the bar is. We're not flexing to
- 42:17Speaker 3: try to get an extra twenty five thousand or fifty
- 42:19Speaker 3: thousand viewers. We're not flexing to get out of a
- 42:22Speaker 3: game with playoff implications into a game with better or
- 42:25Speaker 3: more or bigger playoff implications. It's about, here's a game
- 42:28Speaker 3: in the primetime window that was put here in May,
- 42:30Speaker 3: and by the time we're going to get there, both
- 42:32Speaker 3: teams are eliminated from playoff contention. That's the one that
- 42:35Speaker 3: we're not doing anybody any favors by leaving it in prime.
- 42:38Speaker 3: It's not good for the home fans, it's not good
- 42:40Speaker 3: for those two teams, certainly not good for the television
- 42:42Speaker 3: viewers are broadcast partners. So I haven't really had that
- 42:46Speaker 3: one yet. Where the primetime game is quote unquote irrelevant
- 42:50Speaker 3: and I'm not even sure there is such a thing
- 42:51Speaker 3: in this league. Every game matters while everybody's playing for something,
- 42:56Speaker 3: and it's going to be a fun stretch run down here.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Two part question. Now we're rapping soon, but two part question.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Last night, as Drew Locke with less than two minutes
- 43:04Speaker 1: left is leading the Seahawks on a ninety two yard
- 43:07Speaker 1: incredible game winning drive to knock off the Eagles, Well,
- 43:10Speaker 1: a day earlier Chiefs Patriots is kind of a dud
- 43:12Speaker 1: of a game. Do you smoke a cigar kick back
- 43:16Speaker 1: and say, correct, flex we did it, like we nailed it?
- 43:19Speaker 1: Is that the thing like do you look for a
- 43:21Speaker 1: pat in the back because you're not going to get one.
- 43:22Speaker 1: But that was the right move and a lot of
- 43:24Speaker 1: people were like, how could you move my homes out
- 43:26Speaker 1: of primetime? Well, the better game was actually Monday night.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not in the business of patting ourselves on
- 43:31Speaker 3: the back. We're in the business of looking ahead and
- 43:33Speaker 3: trying to figure out what we could do right, what
- 43:35Speaker 3: we could do better. Look, the game was competitive. That
- 43:39Speaker 3: was great coming down to the wire or any fourth
- 43:41Speaker 3: quarter game within one scorer is all any of us
- 43:43Speaker 3: can ask for as viewers, and that was a pretty
- 43:46Speaker 3: exciting ending. I'm not sure the answer to was the
- 43:49Speaker 3: Monday night flex successful will be available until we really
- 43:54Speaker 3: do a little more accounting with the Chiefs, the Patriots,
- 43:59Speaker 3: the Eagles, the Seahawks. What was it like to change
- 44:03Speaker 3: like you did? How was fan reaction? Was the building
- 44:06Speaker 3: still full? Where there are a lot of tickets on
- 44:08Speaker 3: the secondary market? You know, don't want to be reckless
- 44:13Speaker 3: and haphazard with these flexes. But you know, on the
- 44:16Speaker 3: one hand, like you said, I think we got the
- 44:17Speaker 3: better game into the bigger window season, but there's a
- 44:22Speaker 3: lot more that comes into it. I'm not sure we're done,
- 44:24Speaker 3: you know, doing all the calculously until we talked to
- 44:27Speaker 3: the Patriots, talked to the Seahawks. Look, last night looked full,
- 44:32Speaker 3: sounded loud even in bad weather. That was part of
- 44:35Speaker 3: what we were thinking, though, you know, just the same
- 44:38Speaker 3: you play a Seahawks game on Tuesday at noon and
- 44:40Speaker 3: I assume the place is going to be full and loud.
- 44:42Speaker 3: So that all goes into what we're thinking. And again,
- 44:45Speaker 3: you know, it's not just about the Monday night flex,
- 44:48Speaker 3: but as you go back to the Sunday. That Chief's
- 44:51Speaker 3: Patriots game ended up going into Sunday at one o'clock,
- 44:54Speaker 3: which was a big game for Fox. They don't get
- 44:57Speaker 3: a lot of Chiefs games obviously from the AFC, so
- 44:59Speaker 3: that game still went to seventy percent of the country.
- 45:01Speaker 3: It was a lead into Dallas Buffalo, which wasn't as
- 45:04Speaker 3: competitive as we'd hope, but still probably got like family
- 45:07Speaker 3: people watching. And then you still got the green Bay
- 45:09Speaker 3: Tampa game sliding over to CBS. Some more fans could
- 45:12Speaker 3: watch that one. And how about Baker Mayfield going in
- 45:14Speaker 3: the Lambo and putting up a one fifty eight. They're
- 45:17Speaker 3: gonna be right there down the stretch as well. So
- 45:20Speaker 3: that one week worked out really well for everybody, but
- 45:22Speaker 3: not done until we really talked to the Patriots and
- 45:24Speaker 3: the Seahawks and find out how the fans are.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Isn't it funny you just wrote usn't aside like Tampa
- 45:29Speaker 1: green Bay, no one circled that game might have been
- 45:30Speaker 1: the game of the week. Now you have Tampa Jacksonville
- 45:32Speaker 1: this weekend, and it's like huge implications. If you were
- 45:35Speaker 1: going back and drawing up the schedule and may you
- 45:36Speaker 1: might you know, be kind and say it might have
- 45:39Speaker 1: a major game Tampa Jacksonville Week sixteen, and it's like,
- 45:43Speaker 1: that's why you can't write this. It's not scripted. You
- 45:45Speaker 1: can't write this stuff.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Nobody knows anything in this league. But like we said,
- 45:50Speaker 3: I think this is the new normal, right. All the
- 45:51Speaker 3: games are close, which is why, unfortunately sometimes the officiating
- 45:55Speaker 3: gets a little more scrutiny because one call feels like
- 45:58Speaker 3: can really impact the game. Every game's close, every team's good,
- 46:02Speaker 3: and nobody knows anything. It's the beauty of the sport.
- 46:05Speaker 3: So anytime you turn on the television, your bound to
- 46:07Speaker 3: see something you haven't seen before, haven't seen Drew Locke
- 46:09Speaker 3: lead a game winning drive.
- 46:11Speaker 1: In what three years, thousand days?
- 46:12Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw it, but his postgame
- 46:14Speaker 3: interview with Lisa Assaults.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Was amazing and Lisa did a great job on it.
- 46:18Speaker 3: She did, she did, She was one quick question.
- 46:20Speaker 1: She waited, listened, which is good. The other part to
- 46:25Speaker 1: that question is we had a dog of a Bears
- 46:27Speaker 1: Chargers game on Sunday Night earlier this season that was
- 46:30Speaker 1: you know, it felt like a stadium was mostly Bears fans.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Tyson pagent wins or did he win. I don't even
- 46:36Speaker 1: know who won. It was in hindsight now he did not.
- 46:38Speaker 1: He did not win. The Chargers won. Do you guys,
- 46:42Speaker 1: I know you're vulnerable, and you guys say we make
- 46:43Speaker 1: mistakes sometimes. Do you guys look at that and say, Okay,
- 46:45Speaker 1: that was when we should have or it's not like that.
- 46:48Speaker 1: It's just like, hey, move on, We're not going to
- 46:49Speaker 1: beat ourselves up week to week as far as flexing goes.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, don't forget that was week eight.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Right, nobody a part getting interview here?
- 46:57Speaker 3: No, I understand. Look when I say it was week eight,
- 46:59Speaker 3: I don't mean like, hey, that was eight weeks ago.
- 47:01Speaker 3: While you bring it up, I mean like it was
- 47:02Speaker 3: week eight, Like do you really need to flex and
- 47:04Speaker 3: we eight? Is anybody dead and buried? You think about
- 47:07Speaker 3: the Lions last year with their start, You think about
- 47:09Speaker 3: the Broncos this year, right, I think the Broncos were
- 47:12Speaker 3: Sunday Night a week or two later after Bears Chargers.
- 47:15Speaker 3: You know again, flexes for when the game has truly
- 47:19Speaker 3: no longer as playoff implications. Look, Tyson bagent became a
- 47:23Speaker 3: story there for a minute, and it was kind of
- 47:24Speaker 3: fun and interesting. That's been one of the weird things
- 47:27Speaker 3: about this season, right, some of these backup quarterbacks, like
- 47:29Speaker 3: Tommy d here in New York, like, some of these
- 47:32Speaker 3: guys kind of either you know, us being introduced to
- 47:35Speaker 3: them for a first time, or us remembering, Oh I
- 47:36Speaker 3: knew that guy from college. It's been fun to see
- 47:40Speaker 3: these guys. Come on. Yeah, I don't know that any
- 47:42Speaker 3: primetime window is rooting for, you know, backup quarterbacks. And
- 47:46Speaker 3: again in May, Justin Fields and Justin Herbert, what do
- 47:53Speaker 3: any of us know? And then when you as soon
- 47:55Speaker 3: as you're right off the Bears, look at what they're
- 47:56Speaker 3: doing down the stretch here, playing hard and playing as
- 47:58Speaker 3: well the lion anybody in the NFC. They're gonna have
- 48:01Speaker 3: an impact on the wildcard race too. They're not even
- 48:02Speaker 3: out of it yet. So yeah, do we look back
- 48:05Speaker 3: on every decision we made as a scheduling team. Absolutely? Yes.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Is there time really to beat yourself up about it?
- 48:12Speaker 2: No?
- 48:13Speaker 3: But does a factor in your thinking going forward? Maybe
- 48:16Speaker 3: a little bit. You know, if NBC, you know, kind
- 48:18Speaker 3: of has their hand out and say, hey, don't forget
- 48:21Speaker 3: you know, we we have Bears Chargers, we'd sure like
- 48:23Speaker 3: that Cowboys game on wildcard weekend or whatever. Those are
- 48:26Speaker 3: the kind of conversations that we're gonna have over the
- 48:27Speaker 3: next couple of weeks.
- 48:28Speaker 1: So interesting, like that's one of them they put in
- 48:30Speaker 1: their back pocket and say, we ate it. We did that,
- 48:32Speaker 1: we we you know. And then hey, Cowboys play the
- 48:35Speaker 1: Lions in the Divisional. We'd love to have that one
- 48:37Speaker 1: as opposed to Tampa versus San Francisco. I get it.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I think that's interesting. How do you feed all those
- 48:43Speaker 1: different mouths because I feel like everyone's got like the Fox,
- 48:48Speaker 1: the Fox A crew. I'm biased to Fox there, my guys.
- 48:50Speaker 1: They have had so many blowouts this season, yep. And
- 48:53Speaker 1: it's just it's by chance. It's just what it is.
- 48:56Speaker 1: These games are good matchups, and then you get out
- 48:58Speaker 1: there and it's San Francisco Dallas and it's well, that
- 49:00Speaker 1: might have been on MBC, but you know what I mean,
- 49:02Speaker 1: it's just one after another. Do you start getting stuff
- 49:06Speaker 1: from the networks now saying, hey, playoffs, we want Cowboys,
- 49:09Speaker 1: or hey we would love to have a little Chiefs
- 49:12Speaker 1: action if there's a wildcard r.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Yeah, love, Like we talked about, We're heading for a
- 49:15Speaker 3: wild card weekend with some pretty pretty big brands. And
- 49:18Speaker 3: some pretty big stars. So I think we're going to
- 49:20Speaker 3: have would.
- 49:21Speaker 1: You put AFC on Fox now that it's kind of
- 49:24Speaker 1: wide open, and we did that a couple of years ago, right.
- 49:26Speaker 3: We do in a year where they've got multiple wild
- 49:29Speaker 3: card games. The way it works for CBS and Fox
- 49:31Speaker 3: is if you only have one in a weekend, it's
- 49:33Speaker 3: going to be in your conference. If you have two
- 49:35Speaker 3: in a weekend, one in your conference, the other one
- 49:37Speaker 3: could be the opposite. So for this particular season, with
- 49:40Speaker 3: CBS and Fox each only having one on Sunday after,
- 49:43Speaker 3: they're going to be conference affiliated. Same thing on divisional weekend.
- 49:46Speaker 3: So we're not going to get the Chiefs game over
- 49:49Speaker 3: to Fox, but they're going to end up with a
- 49:51Speaker 3: really good game. Just look at the NFC wildcard picture.
- 49:55Speaker 3: You look at the division winners. Now, you know, like
- 49:57Speaker 3: you said, everybody one through twelve is a great story
- 50:00Speaker 3: in the NFC. So we're going to end up with
- 50:02Speaker 3: some you know, pretty juicy apples I think on wildcard weekend,
- 50:05Speaker 3: and it it becomes easier to dole them out to
- 50:08Speaker 3: partners when they're all great. If you have a situation
- 50:11Speaker 3: where you're like, oh, that's the one that nobody wants
- 50:13Speaker 3: or that's the one that everybody wants, and if they
- 50:15Speaker 3: don't get it, they're disappointed. That one's a little tougher.
- 50:18Speaker 1: You know.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Moving Dallas Tampa on Monday Night last year was a
- 50:21Speaker 3: pretty big testament to the power of Monday night football,
- 50:25Speaker 3: to the strength of the simulcast ESPN and ABC together
- 50:28Speaker 3: and it did what thirty something million. It did a
- 50:30Speaker 3: monster number. Couldn't feel bad about it, But if you
- 50:34Speaker 3: were the other partners, you were like, oh, well, I
- 50:36Speaker 3: didn't get Dallas against Tom Brady. Whatever else you give
- 50:39Speaker 3: me isn't going to be good enough. That's frustrating and disappointing.
- 50:42Speaker 3: And we still had some great games on Wildcard weekend.
- 50:46Speaker 3: So look, more juicy apples means more happy partners. But
- 50:51Speaker 3: it's never about you know, just this weekend or just
- 50:54Speaker 3: you O US one or just this season. Right, these
- 50:56Speaker 3: are ten year broadcast deals. The goal here is for
- 50:59Speaker 3: everybody to be strong and healthy, you know, seven, eight, nine,
- 51:04Speaker 3: ten years from now, not just this season. And so
- 51:07Speaker 3: it moves around. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle.
- 51:10Speaker 3: This year seems like most of our partners are are
- 51:12Speaker 3: up year over year, which is a great position. To
- 51:14Speaker 3: be in for the schedule makers. Anybody who's down a
- 51:16Speaker 3: little bit, Hopefully they can make it up down the
- 51:18Speaker 3: stretch here and maybe they get you know, a little
- 51:22Speaker 3: you know, less of a lumpic coal in their Christmas
- 51:24Speaker 3: stocking when we get to playoffs.
- 51:25Speaker 1: And I'll say, you know, that whole thing about putting
- 51:27Speaker 1: the Cowboys on Monday Night, Bucket Akmen are really good
- 51:30Speaker 1: and that production crew is really good. It's it's it's
- 51:33Speaker 1: a great product. So it doesn't feel like it's, oh,
- 51:36Speaker 1: this is cable TV. No, it's on ABC, like it's
- 51:39Speaker 1: it's simulcasted now on It doesn't feel like it's less
- 51:43Speaker 1: than by any means. And truthfully, you know what they
- 51:47Speaker 1: did on that Monday night game with Eagles and Jeeves,
- 51:49Speaker 1: sending their whole pregame crew to Arrowhead and like having
- 51:52Speaker 1: it all felt like an event. Fox does that every week,
- 51:55Speaker 1: CBS does that every week, NBC does it every week. ESPN.
- 51:58Speaker 1: In the last couple of years with Bucket Aikman, it
- 52:00Speaker 1: feels like they they're they're fine getting any big game
- 52:03Speaker 1: as well.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Look, they've made a commitment right to their talent, to
- 52:06Speaker 3: their broadcast crews and to you know, when they roll
- 52:09Speaker 3: out the circus. They roll out the circus, right. They
- 52:12Speaker 3: bring radio, they bring internet, they bring a day of television.
- 52:15Speaker 3: We talk about this all the time. When you've got
- 52:17Speaker 3: like a big storyline game and you really want a
- 52:20Speaker 3: lot of attention to it, you know, you put it
- 52:22Speaker 3: on a Sunday afternoon at one o'clock, it's gonna get
- 52:24Speaker 3: lost a little bit. You put it Sunday at four thirty.
- 52:26Speaker 3: That's probably our most watched window. We're still getting twenty
- 52:29Speaker 3: five twenty eight million people there, but there's other games
- 52:31Speaker 3: going on and you can't really lead into it because
- 52:33Speaker 3: you're watching six or eight one o'clock games Sunday night.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Same thing. You got a whole day of football Sunday
- 52:39Speaker 3: afternoon leading into Sunday night. But you clear out a
- 52:42Speaker 3: Monday and you do an event like you said, like
- 52:45Speaker 3: Eagles Chiefs, You've got all day to build to it
- 52:48Speaker 3: and then have the game. Actually, you know, rise up
- 52:50Speaker 3: to that level was just perfect confluence, great set of
- 52:53Speaker 3: circumstances and really good result and really fun game.
- 52:57Speaker 1: The last question, I'm gonna let you go because this
- 52:59Speaker 1: is a holiday week and this is you know you
- 53:01Speaker 1: and I can do that. We could do this day.
- 53:02Speaker 3: Oh, we could go all day. Man, after I'm done
- 53:04Speaker 3: talking to you, I'm gonna have the same conversation with
- 53:05Speaker 3: the Commissioner'll see me.
- 53:07Speaker 1: I love it.
- 53:07Speaker 3: We got a lot of decisions still to make down
- 53:09Speaker 3: the stretch.
- 53:09Speaker 1: You know, I follow this stuff as much as the football.
- 53:13Speaker 1: The silver bullet is what thirty million is like an
- 53:16Speaker 1: amazing day? Like what's the number? You look and is
- 53:18Speaker 1: that still the metric? The Nielsen ratings? The next work
- 53:21Speaker 1: cause we put it out. I see the NFL will
- 53:23Speaker 1: put it out and be like, you know, thirty five
- 53:26Speaker 1: million watch the Thanksgiving nig games and like we puff
- 53:28Speaker 1: our chest. We'll like hell yeah. But like it's a
- 53:30Speaker 1: different time now, there's all different ways to watch the games.
- 53:33Speaker 1: What is the hallmark of like a great, great broadcast
- 53:37Speaker 1: and a great viewing audience these days?
- 53:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure there's a number. Right. There have
- 53:42Speaker 3: been really fantastic NFL games that happen to find themselves
- 53:46Speaker 3: at one o'clock in the afternoon and maybe only eight
- 53:48Speaker 3: or ten or fifteen percent of the country got to
- 53:50Speaker 3: see it. The beauty of this league, though, is how
- 53:53Speaker 3: quickly our guys, whether it's NFL films with things like
- 53:56Speaker 3: hard knocks or our social media guys are obviously NFL network.
- 53:59Speaker 3: Like if you didn't get to see a game within
- 54:02Speaker 3: minutes after the final gun, you can get a really
- 54:05Speaker 3: good so of what happened over the course of those
- 54:08Speaker 3: three hours. And you know, you ask what constitutes success.
- 54:12Speaker 3: You know, I would tell you a game that was
- 54:14Speaker 3: high scoring, a game that was close, a game that
- 54:17Speaker 3: didn't have you know, any bad injuries or any officiating
- 54:20Speaker 3: controversies played in like that nice tight three hour windows
- 54:23Speaker 3: so that we can get into the next window. And
- 54:27Speaker 3: you know, the commissioner always talks about, you know, the
- 54:29Speaker 3: team losing at halftime coming back in the second half,
- 54:31Speaker 3: or the team behind in the standings getting a win
- 54:33Speaker 3: to tighten up the standings. You know, there's a lot
- 54:37Speaker 3: of different descriptions of success, but you know, at the
- 54:41Speaker 3: end of the day, it's it's are people talking about it?
- 54:44Speaker 3: Do they care? Are they engaged? Are partners putting in
- 54:47Speaker 3: the time and effort, Are we promoting properly to make
- 54:49Speaker 3: sure our fans know where to find the games here
- 54:51Speaker 3: when they are in non traditional windows or on non
- 54:54Speaker 3: traditional broadcast partners successes making sure that everybody knows where
- 54:58Speaker 3: the game is and then hopefully they tune in, and
- 55:00Speaker 3: then hopefully once they get there, it's a really good
- 55:02Speaker 3: product and a really close game. Whether it did eighteen
- 55:05Speaker 3: million or twenty five million thirty five million people isn't
- 55:07Speaker 3: as important as you know, are we maximizing the opportunity
- 55:11Speaker 3: every time we kick off the game, and are we
- 55:14Speaker 3: as a scheduling team, you know, doling out these juicy
- 55:16Speaker 3: apples in a right way so that all the broadcast
- 55:18Speaker 3: partners and all the fans feel like, hey, that seemed right,
- 55:21Speaker 3: that seemed fair, and we're appreciated of the opportunity, and
- 55:25Speaker 3: give us another big game and we'll do our best
- 55:27Speaker 3: on that one too.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I'm ending with a pitch. Can I give you a pitch?
- 55:30Speaker 3: Hit me go? What do you got as our.
- 55:32Speaker 1: VP of Broadcasting and Scheduling and programming. Okay, So you
- 55:35Speaker 1: guys might not think in Park Avenue that we the
- 55:38Speaker 1: viewer or we the football nerd cares about who gets
- 55:43Speaker 1: what broadcast team in the playoff game or when that
- 55:47Speaker 1: playoff game is. You might just for years now it's
- 55:49Speaker 1: during the Sunday night second half, Collinsworth will roll out
- 55:53Speaker 1: a graphic with Tarrico or back in the day it
- 55:55Speaker 1: was Al Michael's be like, all right, well, we just
- 55:56Speaker 1: got this playoff schedule and looks like this. I think
- 56:00Speaker 1: this stuff has March Madness feelings to it of like that.
- 56:04Speaker 3: That's can we get out one at a time?
- 56:07Speaker 1: Let me tell you, Mike, hear me out. If we're
- 56:10Speaker 1: gonna make the schedule release and.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Now we're gonna do it, let's do it. Go ahead,
- 56:13Speaker 3: hit me, what's your.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Idea Sunday night after the Sunday night game that has
- 56:19Speaker 1: just been you know, wrapping up there.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Everybody stay up till one o'clock in the morning.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Everybody's up.
- 56:24Speaker 3: Okay, fine you West Coasters.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Okay, everybody's up. Or you do it at halftime. You
- 56:31Speaker 1: tossed to me, yes, because I am pitching it. Executive producer,
- 56:36Speaker 1: slash host you Annie Bo's Howard Katz, Roger Goodell in
- 56:45Speaker 1: a room okay, what's your scheduling room called? After the
- 56:49Speaker 1: schedule maker? What's it called?
- 56:50Speaker 3: Foul pinchback?
- 56:51Speaker 1: Amazing in that room with cameras then in zoom windows
- 56:56Speaker 1: like you have Michigan and Duke and Rhode Island. You've
- 56:59Speaker 1: got Eric Shanks and Brad Zaeger. In one box, you've
- 57:03Speaker 1: got mcmanuson Burston in the CBS execs and an there,
- 57:07Speaker 1: you've got all the NBC, Mark Lazareth and Rick Cordella
- 57:11Speaker 1: and and and Fred Godelli and you know Rob Hyland
- 57:14Speaker 1: and those guys in another box. And then you got
- 57:16Speaker 1: your Burke, Magnus, Norby Williams and Jimmy Pataro in another box.
- 57:20Speaker 1: You've got four boxes, and you guys unveil who gets
- 57:25Speaker 1: what game to the broadcast teams and to their executives
- 57:30Speaker 1: in real time for the viewers to watch how that
- 57:33Speaker 1: news goes down.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Love it? Love it? You should? You should pitch it
- 57:36Speaker 3: to the boss man.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Oh, I'm gonna get my five minutes with Roger Goodell
- 57:40Speaker 1: and that's what I'll pitch it now.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Look, it's it's obviously an exciting time of year, and
- 57:47Speaker 3: everybody's excited for that information. We're more focused on just
- 57:50Speaker 3: getting it out as quickly as we can because it's
- 57:53Speaker 3: a short run way to get ready for the most
- 57:55Speaker 3: important game of the year. So I don't know that
- 57:56Speaker 3: we're gonna hold it till one am for your TV
- 57:59Speaker 3: show idea, But you know, if to the extent that
- 58:02Speaker 3: fans are interested in how the sausage gets made. I
- 58:05Speaker 3: think we've been a lot more honest, a lot more open,
- 58:08Speaker 3: a lot more transparent over recent years. I do think
- 58:12Speaker 3: that there's a healthy fan interest, a healthy appetite. I'm
- 58:15Speaker 3: not sure you want to see us at midnight after eight.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Hours is if you guys came out after the game.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Because I have a feeling this year, unlike other years,
- 58:23Speaker 1: that Week eighteen Sunday night game is gonna matter, like
- 58:26Speaker 1: six different permutations are gonna like change based on.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Look, We've been really lucky, right the week eighteen, now
- 58:32Speaker 3: Week eighteen, now Week seventeen, then the Sunday night football
- 58:35Speaker 3: game always seems to matter. After all these games, you
- 58:39Speaker 3: always still manage to find yourself into that win and
- 58:41Speaker 3: in game on Sunday Night. We've been very fortunate, and
- 58:44Speaker 3: you're right just looking at how it's shaping up right now.
- 58:48Speaker 3: You know, could be a Miami Buffalo, could be an
- 58:50Speaker 3: Indie Houston, could be a pit bullt. I mean, there's
- 58:52Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of stuff at stake. I think
- 58:54Speaker 3: Rams Niners is one of our Week eighteen games. There's
- 58:57Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of stuff still to play for
- 58:59Speaker 3: down the stretch and yeah, it'll be really interesting. And
- 59:02Speaker 3: you're right, you know you talk about hey, let's get
- 59:04Speaker 3: you know, Rob Hiland and Frankie Deeli up. You know
- 59:07Speaker 3: they're gonna be busy producing. I'm not sure they're going
- 59:10Speaker 3: to have the time and energy to look away and
- 59:13Speaker 3: argue on their behalf for wild card scheduling, but it'll
- 59:16Speaker 3: be it'll be a fun stretch run on. Hopefully we
- 59:19Speaker 3: has everybody still in it.
- 59:20Speaker 1: If you don't got to be the NFL Network show
- 59:22Speaker 1: to do it, or you don't give me, we'll throw
- 59:24Speaker 1: it on an NFL plus. What do you say there?
- 59:27Speaker 1: You got subscriptions?
- 59:29Speaker 3: Should be the face. You should be the face of
- 59:30Speaker 3: NFL plus two right right here? What about games man?
- 59:34Speaker 3: You've been doing sidelines forever. Do you want to you
- 59:37Speaker 3: want to get in the you want to get in
- 59:38Speaker 3: the big chair. You want to do play by play?
- 59:39Speaker 3: Do you want to do?
- 59:40Speaker 1: And I did preseason for the Rams and the Jets
- 59:43Speaker 1: as an analyst, and I was next to an ex
- 59:46Speaker 1: player in both those and I absolutely loved it. This year,
- 59:49Speaker 1: I was hoping to do a sideline game. I wasn't
- 59:51Speaker 1: assigned any of the NFL Network sideline games. So I
- 59:54Speaker 1: was kind of bummed out. I was thinking, maybe I
- 59:56Speaker 1: be spending my Christmas in Denver, but it's gonna be
- 59:58Speaker 1: James Palmer and Sherry Burrs on the sidelines. I hope
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I get back in there. I do love doing it.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Last year I did Buffalo Miami sidelines. I hit with
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a snowball. Yeah, that's like my highlight as a silas.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: I can't confirm. Let me hit you with a pitch
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: before I let you go, let me hit you with
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: a pitch. You've seen that we are going to Brazil, Yes,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: first time ever, South Paolo. Not sure when we're going
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: to play it yet, still working with the you know,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: international folks. I know some folks have written some things.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Nothing set yet. Don't know when that's game Gona, we've
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: seen it could be. It's absolutely a conversation. I'm not
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: sure it's as far down the line as some people
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: think it is. But we're playing in Brazil. If that
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: game ends up on NFL network, how about the Good
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Morning Football Crew goes to Brazil and calls that game
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: from the booth.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: All right, as you say that, I am already in
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: my head. Wheels in my head. Have an amazing idea.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I don't even know what that entails, but like the
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Good Morning Football crew in Brazil for a week leading
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: up to it, sounds of it.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: They do World Cups down there, they do Olympics down there.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Wait till the NFL rolls into town and you four
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: go in carnival. Let's go.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna clip this off. We're gonna roll this as
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: now we're in the depth of winter. We're all pale.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I'm twenty pounds, by the way. On NFL Network on Friday,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna get Kyle, Jamie and Jason's reaction to a
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: week in Brazil courtesy of the fine schedule makers and
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: your team over there, Mike, no further ado. We will
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: wrap this up with a thank you to all work
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: that you do and the dedication that you and your
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: team have. I know you, Charlotte Blake, obviously Annie, everyone
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: in that building. It's one of the most thankless jobs.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: But it is so so important and we value you
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: guys so much, and I love our friendship, but also
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: the amazing work you do and how candid you are
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: with me on when you come on the podcast.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Always happy to talk to you. I love talking to
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: people that want to know that really care and look,
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: we're all fans. That part's great. But when you learn
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: a little bit more about behind the scenes and how
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: the sausage gets made, and then it all culminates with
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: something big and fun, like that Philly Casey game we
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: talked to out or like hopefully Christmas coming up on Monday. Yeah, there's, uh,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: there's there's there's some pride, but it's fleeting and you
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: know what's next and it never ends, and it's uh,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: it's the best time of the year. Enjoying it. I
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: hope everybody else is enjoying it. And you certainly know
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: where to find me if you have any questions.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Awesome. Mike North one of our best guests, one of
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: our regular guests, a friend of the pod. If you
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: will have an awesome Christmas weekend, my friend, I know
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: you're a family man, but be sure to be watching
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: some football too.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: Please, no, we'll be watching take care of I'll good
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: seeing it. Awesome.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Mike North is one of my favorite guests. Aaron, before
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: we just recap it, I was talking about the Eagles
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: and him and the Cowboys in the playoffs. Listen to this.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: This is the headline I just got texted as we
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: do this on a Tuesday morning after the Eagles lost.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: If both the Cowboys and the Eagles each run the table,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: the NFC East will be determined by the fifth tiebreaker
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: strength of victory, and right now the Eagles hold the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: edge on that. That is the NFL season in a nutshell.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: If both teams just take care of their business from
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: here on out, the fifth tiebreaker the fifth tiebreaker and
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that will enforce. And the crazy part about it, that's
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: not just like an AFC South and the Cowboys don't
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: lose at home, So if they lose out in the
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: fifth tiebreaker, they have to go play three road playoff
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: games before the Super Bowl. If they win it, they
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: likely have two home playoff games and then a road
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: NFC Championship game at San Francisco. That's the season, dude,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: It's nuts. Mike North, so good. What was your big
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: takeaway on that interview?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I mean, as he was going through both the wild
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: card weekend games and even the things leading up to it,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: like he was talking about Week eighteam. Obviously, as a
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Bills fan, I'm focused on the Bills Dolphins game that week,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: but there are so many good games and that's not
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: even me, just like you know, drinking the kool aid,
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Like there are so many games in seventeen and eighteen
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: that really matter, and then all the wild card things,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: everything will be exciting. There's there's not a game in
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: there where I'm like, oh man.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: It's gonna be.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: I don't know, the Titans, you know, getting clobbered by
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: the Ravens or something like, it's they're all going to
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: be good.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I love the dynamics of the networks. So when you
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: start getting into who gets the Cowboys right, like it's
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: the biggest ticket, let's call it like it is, and like,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: how do you feed all those mouths? And then remember
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, Bucking Aikman were on Fox
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: and Aikman openly was bitching about you know, I made
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: a joke. He didn't bitch about it on there, but
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: you know I made a joke. As the Eagles were
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: blowing out the Buccaneers. He's like, oh, forty nine ers Cowboys,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: two NFC teams would have loved to have had that game.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: And it was on CBS, like all these things, and
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: there's all these different mouths to feed in billions of
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: dollars at play who gets what game and when is
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: that game? So that was cool and I I don't
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: think my pitch was that crazy, you know, just with
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: the NFL that's looking to monetize and broadcast every single
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: little thing, whether it be inside training camp or NFL
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Kickoff weekend or the schedule. You're telling me fans finding
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: out when their team and what network their playoff game
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: is going to be on doesn't matter. I don't know.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: I think it's pretty good, pretty sexy. And I also
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I'm here for the Brazil trip. I don't see it
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: happening yet, but I'm here for the Brazil trip. I
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: don't like to get myself too excited about things. I
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: like to say, say grounded, but Brazil sounds pretty good.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I'll be wearing a I'll wear a thong bikini that
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: whole week if we get to go to Brazil. How's
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: that for a statement.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Well, maybe I'm less excited for the Brazil trip now, yeah.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Or it's the podcast. The podcast will no video. On
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: that note, let's give our award away for the week.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: We're having fun with these. This is the season with
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Peter Schrager, and this is delivering results. Presented by Uber Eat,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: and the person I want to shout out who delivered
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: results this weekend was Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco, second straight win,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Flacco down ten in the fourth quarter, finds a way
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: to lead his team to a victory, and the Cleveland
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Browns find themselves nine to five on the season, comfortably
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: in a wild card spot, right there behind the Ravens
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: in the AFC North and the Joe Flacco led Browns.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Flacco thirty eight years old off the couch. How fitting.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: With Uber eats as the sponsor, I'm sure he experimented
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: and dabble little Uber eats over the past twelve months.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: We're gonna go with Joe Flacco as our guy who
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: has delivered results, and that is delivering results presented by
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Uber eats, where you can get almost almost anything, the
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: official on demand delivery partner of the NFL. Order now
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and I want to give a quick shout out to
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: one of the very important behind the scenes people at
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: this podcast, the season with Peter Schrager. Her name is Carly.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: She's from the iHeart team, and Carly's on the IR
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: right now. She had an injury and we know that
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: she's recovering. But I'm a huge fan of all the
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: folks at the iHeart Squad, and Carly has been a
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: big part of this show. I'm told she listens to
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: the program and she's making a very nice recovery. So
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: we hope to have her back on the field real soon.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: And Carly, you better believe it. We hope to have
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: you back up and running. And I'll tell you what,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: if you need some uber eats, I'm your guy. I
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: will order you some whatever you need. We need you
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: back on the field soon. But we're thinking about you, Carly.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: And on that note, another episode of the season with
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Peter schragerm many thanks to Mike North, who dedicated way
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: too much time to this silly little podcast. I know
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: he's a busy man, but we really enjoy it, and
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: I enjoy all the feedback from listeners. I'm not tooting
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: my own horn here when I'm saying that de veto
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Stillato stuff. Last week it was, oh, I know the agent,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: let's have him on. And I think it was the
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: first real window that we got to Sean Stillato and
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: then he was the story of the week. And we
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: like to set the agenda, like to set the tone
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: and we like to give you guys a peek inside.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I can assure you not everyone's talking to Mike North
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: this week on the eve of a very important three
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: week stretch for the NFL and then the playoff run.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Proud of this podcast, Proud of you Aaron, proud of
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Jason English here, and proud of all the people who
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: work on it, but also so grateful for the listeners.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: As we head to the holiday season, everyone please have
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: a great Christmas, great New Year, and as always, be
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: safe as we watch our football over the weekend. The
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the NFL
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: and partnership with iHeartRadio. For more podcasts from iHeartRadio, visit
