Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right. Well, at the end of today there was
- 0:03Speaker 1: no deal reached, but the proper parties were called, and
- 0:09Speaker 1: we might be on our way to an even more
- 0:11Speaker 1: historic moment with a trilateral meeting between Trump, Putin and Zelenski.
- 0:18Speaker 1: But I gotta come in Zelensky. He was very well
- 0:20Speaker 1: behaved today, and why are you talking down to him? Well,
- 0:23Speaker 1: he did kind of act petulant the last time he
- 0:26Speaker 1: was in the White House, and I thought he was
- 0:29Speaker 1: getting beat up on unnecessarily by JD. Vance, who was
- 0:33Speaker 1: nowhere near to be found, by the way, it was
- 0:35Speaker 1: just Trump and him. And then I thought the leaders
- 0:39Speaker 1: of NATO and the European nations that were there, France, Macron, Italy, Maloney, Germany, Finland,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I mean, all these different nations, and of course the
- 0:53Speaker 1: NATO Secretary General, who normally, when we're seeing all them
- 0:58Speaker 1: together at different summits, make fun of Trump. They got
- 1:01Speaker 1: down to business today and they were very serious. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: I got to commend all parties for being united. I
- 1:09Speaker 1: got to commend all parties for being heads down and
- 1:18Speaker 1: just getting to it because we've seen over the years
- 1:27Speaker 1: the international community look at Trump as a joke. We've
- 1:31Speaker 1: seen over the years Zelensky and Trump be intertangled on
- 1:36Speaker 1: phone calls and many other things that have been odd.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But today, for the first time in a Trump presidency
- 1:46Speaker 1: either one, there was this need, the sense of unity
- 1:51Speaker 1: and more importantly, the sense of unity against Vladimir Putin
- 1:55Speaker 1: and Russia. I have not sensed a sense of coming
- 1:59Speaker 1: to to gather a sense of thanking Trump in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: last what nine ten years, But in his second term
- 2:11Speaker 1: he has commanded this and taken the lead and in
- 2:15Speaker 1: not in a talking down, disparaging way this time. But really,
- 2:22Speaker 1: we're going to get this done for you, Vladimir Zelensky.
- 2:24Speaker 1: We are. The sense of hope from today should not
- 2:28Speaker 1: leave us. The sense of unity today should not leave us.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Our allies and the United States are on a united front,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and I think that is beautiful. But I have to
- 2:44Speaker 1: leave you with this today. President Trump did make this
- 2:49Speaker 1: speculation and joke which you might have heard already, if
- 2:53Speaker 1: not here, it.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Is too quickly upon peace, God willing me get peace.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Are you open to holding an election? In your head
- 3:00Speaker 2: at yes, of course we're open for an election. Yes,
- 3:03Speaker 2: we have to do safety circumstances and a little bit
- 3:08Speaker 2: we need to work in the parliament because during the
- 3:11Speaker 2: war you can't have elections, but we can. We can't
- 3:15Speaker 2: do security.
- 3:16Speaker 3: We need maybe how to say, we need a truth
- 3:19Speaker 3: yes everywhere in the battlefield, in the sky and to
- 3:22Speaker 3: see yeah, to make it possible for people to to
- 3:26Speaker 3: do democratic, open, liberal, liberal elections.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So you say, during.
- 3:33Speaker 3: The war you can't have elections.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So let me just say three and a half years
- 3:37Speaker 2: from now.
- 3:38Speaker 3: So you mean, if we happen to be in a
- 3:40Speaker 3: war with somebody, no more elections.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So I wonder what the paws I got a question
- 3:51Speaker 2: for you.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, you don't say that, you
- 3:55Speaker 1: don't say that, and I know's gonna be like, what
- 3:58Speaker 1: do you mean you don't say that, You don't say that,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you don't make that joke. Because if three years later,
- 4:03Speaker 1: here we are on August eighteenth, twenty twenty eight, and
- 4:06Speaker 1: we're in a war, we getting pinpoint to this moment
- 4:10Speaker 1: when Zelensky planted a seed. And I've been thinking about
- 4:16Speaker 1: this today because Zelenski did postpone the election. But but
- 4:30Speaker 1: I have to say, because Ukraine's smaller, I can understand
- 4:37Speaker 1: why they would have to cancel an election, But twenty
- 4:48Speaker 1: twenty did happen, and Trump didn't cancel the election then,
- 4:55Speaker 1: so I want to believe that was all a joke.
- 5:02Speaker 1: But just in bookmarking that clip in case things go
- 5:07Speaker 1: chaotic in twenty twenty eight, which we pray not, that's
- 5:10Speaker 1: it for today. A deal was not reached, but progress
- 5:14Speaker 1: was made. And I hope you've enjoyed this coverage of
- 5:19Speaker 1: the Alaska summit, now the White House Summit, and next
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Trilateral summit. How about that
