- 0:00Friday morning, everybody. Every once in a while I dream
- 0:05about the man in black, Dale Earnhardt, senior.
- 0:11I will never forget going to the Waldorf Astoria in New York
- 0:16City, downtown Manhattan for the NASCAR banquet awards ceremony.
- 0:22Those were the glory days. Those were, those were epic
- 0:28award ceremonies. They were really good.
- 0:32The Waldorf Astoria, one of the most famous hotels in the world,
- 0:38dating way back to, you know, 100 years ago.
- 0:44Did you know that during one of the wars, they opened the
- 0:47Waldorf Astoria for people to live in?
- 0:51I think when people came off the ships, they put them up there.
- 0:55The Waldorf Astoria has a lot of history.
- 0:58It's a lot more than just a hotel.
- 1:00It's almost like a mini city. Earnhardt Dale Earnhardt senior
- 1:06was so powerful. But you know, you just when
- 1:09you're around and it was like bigger than life.
- 1:12So I'll never forget when Earnhardt said, come on, come
- 1:15on, Wallace, let's go. So Rusty and his wife, Patty,
- 1:20Kim, my wife and myself, we follow Earnhardt.
- 1:25We go down one of the streets not far from the Waldorf, and we
- 1:28walk through these doors. I'm like, where are we going?
- 1:32We go in this little room, just a small setting.
- 1:37And I'll be damned if Brooks and Dunn, the country group, I mean,
- 1:42this real small setting there, there's Brooks and Dunn.
- 1:47That's how close Earnhardt was to them.
- 1:52Never forget it as long as I live because it was so
- 1:55unbelievable. Most people would pay hundreds
- 1:57of dollars to go to arenas or, you know, stadiums, to see
- 2:03Brooks and Dunn. When the sun goes down on my
- 2:10side of town, a lonesome feeling comes through the room and the
- 2:19whole world turns blue. I spend most every night beneath
- 2:28the light of a neon moon. Oh, if you lose your one and
- 2:36only, go ahead and finish it, man.
- 2:42I'll tell you what, those days were awesome.
- 2:46I have so many memories of it, Dale Earnhardt senior One time,
- 2:51Rusty said. Hey, Herman, get Kim and get the
- 2:55kids together. We're going to take my plane and
- 2:59we're going with Earnhardt. We went up to the Northeast and
- 3:03we went to the toy company Hasbro.
- 3:06I'm like what? Sure enough, I don't know where
- 3:13it was up in the Northeast. We landed and we went to the toy
- 3:17company Hasbro and they we toured and then after that they
- 3:25took us into this other like building and it was like a fake
- 3:33toy store and they gave us fake money, but the toys were real.
- 3:38So in other words, it was, you know, I guess when they just did
- 3:41things, you know, like entertainment.
- 3:45So sure enough, we had like Monopoly money or whatever the
- 3:48hell it was, and with our children, you know, we went
- 3:53Christmas shopping and I'll never forget it.
- 3:58We took all those toys back home, all because of what
- 4:02Earnhardt did, and he invited Rusty Patty.
- 4:09Maybe Greg was with us. Rusty's oldest boy.
- 4:14My kids never forget those days. Tell me your Earnhardt story.
- 4:24All right, everybody remember November 8th?
- 4:29November 8th, 9:00 AM, That's a Saturday.
- 4:34Kim's craft show starts right up here.
- 4:36We're going to have waffles and they're going to make them the
- 4:39way you want them. Whipped cream, bananas, nuts,
- 4:44whatever. Kim's got some drinks and all
- 4:48types of things. We're going to do some more
- 4:50videos and show you what we got going up there.
- 4:52But remember that Saturday, November 8th, Kim's craft show.
- 4:56All right, everybody, it's Friday.
- 4:59Have a great weekend.
