  Speaker 1: This topic's been on my list for a little while and, true to form, I haven't felt the desire to record this until after I had a recent run in at a mediumship demonstration.

  Speaker 1: That really changed my thinking or, at least I don't know, gave me additional thoughts on this topic.

  Speaker 1: So I'm actually really excited that this recently happened, like all everything that happens in perfect timing, and I'm really excited to chat about this with all of you today.

  Speaker 1: Now, and so when we're talking about going direct, I want to talk about the pros, the cons, what I've seen, how I kind of approach it Because, just for the record, there is no right answer to this today.

  Speaker 1: So this is more informative again for you to be able to walk away with what's the best choice for me, and I don't even know if the choice that you'd pick today is going to be the choice that you'd pick in a year from now, if you're practicing or professional medium, because to me this changes as well.

  Speaker 1: And so let me talk about it, because there's a lot of varying opinions and I actually love all of the different perspectives and value all the different perspectives on this.

  Speaker 1: Going direct essentially means that we are going to connect with a very specific spirit that our client has asked for.

  Speaker 1: So we're going to identify them by name, by relationship, et cetera, and pull that specific spirit through for a reading because the client wants to continue.

  Speaker 1: The conversation has closure that they need with this person, whatever reason, whatever have you, and they want to hear from a specific person.

  Speaker 1: I mean, don't we all want that really Like?

  Speaker 1: Don't we all hope for the text from that one person that we love in our life?

  Speaker 1: Don't we all hope for that one phone call, that one run-in of somebody that just like, blows your socks off you're so excited to hear?

  Speaker 1: So it's only natural that our clients, our sitters, want a specific person to come through and for a lot of mediums this can be a total like mindfuck in terms of trying to pull a specific spirit through, because it's hard enough.

  Speaker 1: I have to be honest with you to connect with departed loved ones, dead people and trust what's coming through.

  Speaker 1: But when a client comes this was my experience personally, if it's not your experience it's freaking amazing.

  Speaker 1: But when I was starting to go direct, I would have heart palpitations and I would get so in my head that, oh shit, now it's not just like give me any of your loved ones, which feels hard enough as it is, now I have to give you one specific loved one, and so that always made me so nervous, it lowered my vibration so much and then I like for the first few times few times, let's say like 40 times, right it, it was a shot in the dark and it never went well.

  Speaker 1: So going direct for me was was a really, really big challenge.

  Speaker 1: For a long time I didn't like it.

  Speaker 1: I used to get in my head, I used to come with biases because if someone said you know a son that came through, I might see them as I don't know a 20 something person, but maybe they died at birth, right, and so I never felt super confident when I started my mediumship journey.

  Speaker 1: Going direct it just wasn't for me.

  Speaker 1: For a lot of mediums I see a ton of success in being able to go direct and pull a spirit through and it almost gives them this breath of release.

  Speaker 1: And I think some people are just more apt to be able to connect with specific souls through the vibration of their name, through the vibration of the relationship and it's like piece of cake for them.

  Speaker 1: I love that, I love that.

  Speaker 1: And so if going direct so here's, I guess, pause for a second.

  Speaker 1: Here is the real thing.

  Speaker 1: Almost every client wants to hear from a specific loved one.

  Speaker 1: So if going direct feels good for you, go direct.

  Speaker 1: Ask your client who they want to hear from.

  Speaker 1: Give them the chance at the beginning of the room to say do you have a specific name or relationship that you you know, whatever you prefer that you would like to hear from?

  Speaker 1: Now let's go to the other side of the house, because I think a lot of people might hear that and think that doesn't sound very ethical to me.

  Speaker 1: Because now, if your client says I'm looking for my departed husband, right Now, you know she has a departed husband and now you can probably assume a lot of things that probably around the same age, right, they probably have similar interests, right.

  Speaker 1: So it makes it a lot easier to do the reading sometimes if you hear that information, I know.

  Speaker 1: And so for those of you that maybe are less apt, less confident in going direct, you can do what I call spiritual roulette and just see who wants to come through, and so I think this is a much safer start for a lot of mediums because you're leaving the gate wide open and there's quite a few benefits to leaving the gate wide open and I'm going to say the benefits are typically on the medium side of the house and not the sitter side of the house, but I'm going to hopefully get to that.

  Speaker 1: So the benefits for you as the medium on playing spiritual roulette is you are essentially calling in the strongest vibration that is likely going to be the easiest for you to read, and so I hope this answers a lot of people's questions about, like, who tends to come through in these readings.

  Speaker 1: The soul that matches the vibration of the mediums are going to be the vibrations that are most clear, easy to understand and the connections that the medium is the most likely going to pull through.

  Speaker 1: So let me give you a really good example is I can pull through grumpy ass grandmothers like nobody's fucking business.

  Speaker 1: Why?

  Speaker 1: Because I grew up in a family full of grumpy ass grandmothers, grumpy ass old women.

  Speaker 1: So those grumpy ass old women to me are a really, really strong vibration because I'm used to that energy and so they're the ones who tend to come through first if I just open up to spirit, because the spirits that I am most comfortable with are going to be the ones that are the strongest in my vibration.

  Speaker 1: So if you have a grumpy grandma and you're getting a reading by me and you tell me, I don't care who comes through, fantastic, here comes your grumpy grandma, because that's just naturally how it's going to go right, because that's the easiest for me to read.

  Speaker 1: So that's kind of how it benefits the medium right off the bat.

  Speaker 1: Is you're going to get a spirit in quickly that is going to build your power and build your vibration faster and make the spiritual connection stronger to begin with.

  Speaker 1: Now, that's a benefit for the medium because you're not going on the struggle bus trying to pull a departed person through that maybe you're less familiar with, less comfortable with, and instead you're going to build that power really fast and then, if they want to hear from somebody else or if you want to pull in another spirit after your power is already there, you're riding that wave, and so that's a huge, huge plus from a medium's perspective is you're picking those cherries off that cherry tree and you're going to ride it into the next spirit.

  Speaker 1: So another benefit from a medium's perspective is your team will pull through spirits that this is a little controversial.

  Speaker 1: My team is saying spirits that are going to be the best spirits for you to learn from.

  Speaker 1: So in this instance I would say, particularly with practice sitters and practice circles, working and pulling in whatever spirit comes through gives your team a chance to shove through the types of spirits you need to work on.

  Speaker 1: So maybe you're really really good, like me, at grandparents and you're not so good at sons, daughters, children, and maybe spirit is just like, finally, she's finally wide open to receiving it.

  Speaker 1: I'm literally going to send a whole bunch of children through, right, I'm going to send them through so that you start getting used to the vibration of children, even though you're a little more averse to it and you don't like it.

  Speaker 1: So it gives you a chance to trust your team on expanding your mediumship skill set, your horizons, the types of people and souls that you're reading, so that you're building your spiritual vocabulary, signs and symbols, vocabulary that allows you to obviously become a better medium with more practice.

  Speaker 1: So that is benefit number two.

  Speaker 1: I'm not sure what benefit number three is, but we at least got through two Now.

  Speaker 1: Well, I guess there's.

  Speaker 1: It was like one A and one B.

  Speaker 1: One A is it's easier for you, one B is that you can use that energy to ride, ride it through to the next spirit.

  Speaker 1: So all right, so we got, we got like three there.

  Speaker 1: Now, when we're talking about the, the cons of going, of doing spiritual roulette.

  Speaker 1: The cons of spiritual roulette are you inherently have your biases as a medium and I kind of walked around this just for a second before because if you don't have a basis for someone that overdose maybe you don't have anyone in your life that you knew had an overdose you are going to be less likely to pull in people that have overdoses just because it's not in your energy field.

  Speaker 1: It's not because you're not right, it's not personal for these spirits, it's not like you're purposely trying to avoid them, it's just that it's a lot harder to get through your energy.

  Speaker 1: It's not as easy as the things that you're familiar with and so inherently, you end up having these biases towards the spirits that are going to come through easily for you.

  Speaker 1: So, again, if you are somebody who does not like to work with young people that have died, if you do not like to, if you have a toxic relationship with your family and you don't have a good relationship with your dad.

  Speaker 1: Maybe you don't like pulling dads through, maybe you don't like pulling narcissistic people through, because it triggers you, and so you're naturally going to resist certain connections, certain spirits, energetically, subconsciously, because it makes you uncomfortable.

  Speaker 1: And so when you're opening up to spirit roulette, you may be blocking the connection that your client needs and it sucks, right, it really sucks, because the people who are going to come through are going to be the ones you're comfortable with, but not necessarily the one the sitter needs the most, and so that is a huge con of spiritual roulette.

  Speaker 1: Another one other pro sorry, I knew there was one more.

  Speaker 1: I want to say with spiritual roulette is well, hang on, it goes with the con.

  Speaker 1: Okay, so it goes with.

  Speaker 1: What I just said is that you might pull spirits through that your sitter doesn't necessarily care about nor want to hear from.

  Speaker 1: Okay, that's a con for the sitter, but a lot of times, as the medium, this is going way down the rabbit hole.

  Speaker 1: I hope you're enjoying this A lot of times as the medium, there is always purpose to who you are pulling through, because even if you're pulling through a distant cousin that maybe you met once or twice at a party, a family party, and you really don't know anything about them, but you are able to validate that this person is coming through.

  Speaker 1: There might be a reason that that specific well, there is a reason why that specific spirit is coming through, because that specific spirit is either coming through with a specific message that they want you to give to provide healing to other people, right, but also, at the same time, that spirit might be the best spirit to deliver a message or piece of advice that you need to hear.

  Speaker 1: So, case in point I had did I ever talk about this?

  Speaker 1: Did I talk about?

  Speaker 1: No, I'm not going to.

  Speaker 1: I'm going to give it a different example.

  Speaker 1: Hang on a second Cause.

  Speaker 1: I feel like I just gave this example, so let me see if spirit will bring up another one.

  Speaker 1: Um, for example, let's just talk about, like an ancestral healing event right now.

  Speaker 1: Okay, so I might pull through a great grandmother that you didn't know, that I'm trying to relate to you.

  Speaker 1: You don't know anything about her, but we're able to place who this is and she might be the exact energy and wisdom and strength that you need currently in your life.

  Speaker 1: And so if I pulled that from a different member of the family, that message wouldn't be as important or as strong or as relevant.

  Speaker 1: And I know that sounds like a weird reference.
• 13:37
  Speaker 1: I'm sure I could have done that better, apologies, but there is always purpose to who's coming through and what message comes with that.

  Speaker 1: So I do think that, even though the sitter may not be expecting it and it's not necessarily the best, most expected use of their time, not necessarily what they want, it tends to be what they need and it honors the purpose of delivering the highest and best intention for your client.

  Speaker 1: So that's like a negative that turns into a positive.

  Speaker 1: And so when you put all these together going direct, not going direct, playing spiritual or roulette I think inherently there's pluses and minuses, obviously to both of these, as we've discussed, but I think you get the best case scenario when you combine the two.

  Speaker 1: So if you are doing a multiple spirit reading or if you have a longer practice session or a longer client session, what can be so cool is starting with spiritual roulette.

  Speaker 1: Bring through who is going to help you build your power, who is going to help you make the connection feel good, someone that your energy, is friendly and open to and is able to receive.

  Speaker 1: Start there.

  Speaker 1: And then, once you wrap up that reading, ask the sitter who they want to hear from, because then you're getting the best of both worlds.

  Speaker 1: Then you are serving your own energy by optimizing your path to connection.

  Speaker 1: Then you are also serving spirit by allowing a spirit to come through that needs to deliver a message to the sitter that they need to hear, and then you're opening it up for a direct connection for who the sitter wants to hear.

  Speaker 1: And to me that sounds like the perfect blend, the perfect reading, where you're giving everybody exactly what they need I mean especially your sitter, but like you as well, everybody what they need I mean especially your sitter, but like you as well, everybody what they need to walk away feeling really good about this reading.

  Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that you should do spiritual roulette for you and your energy to build it right, but I am saying that your client is going to benefit if you can get a spirit that allows you to connect as soon as possible, instead of fumbling through and guessing if going direct is not as easy for you, going through and fumbling for 15 minutes trying to figure out who the spirit is, if you can open up your energy to someone that's familiar with you, get that spirit right away, land it in five to seven minutes, then you've saved yourself seven minutes more that you're going to have a killer reading with your client.

  Speaker 1: And so I like because I felt this like when I said it's going to benefit you as the medium, it's also going to benefit the sitter.

  Speaker 1: It is mutually beneficial, and so I'm going to challenge you to toy around with it.

  Speaker 1: What feels really good for you?

  Speaker 1: If you always go direct, try doing spiritual roulette and see what comes through.

  Speaker 1: If you always do spiritual roulette, try going direct and see how that feels and how that works for you, especially if you've gotten into a pattern.

  Speaker 1: Right, if you are getting into a pattern where you're always getting grandparents or you're always getting uncles, or you're always getting this, you can open it up to spiritual roulette and be like guides.

  Speaker 1: I need something new, I need something fresh, and they'll work with you on delivering something fresh, and you can let your team, like you can trust your team that they're going to bring in the spirits that are going to be most beneficial for you in practice readings.

  Speaker 1: So, in case you haven't heard, like I don't think there is a bad side to any of this.

  Speaker 1: I think, especially as you're developing, choose whatever path feels best for you to continue to develop your skills and once you start taking clients if you're taking clients, you know you'll now know how to navigate this, because if you go direct and you're finding it's not a great reading, you're having trouble, the connection's not great.

  Speaker 1: Just be like, all right, well, I'm just going to put Uncle Bob on the back burner and then I'm going to go and see who wants to come in first to help me build my power and then we'll go back to Uncle Bob like it's fine too.
