New Bedford Honors Melville with Statue | Providence News
New Bedford is set to unveil an eight-foot bronze statue of Herman Melville, titled “Melville and Jonah’s Journey,” sculpted by Stefanie Rocknack, right outside Seaman’s Bethel — the very chapel where Melville prayed before his whaling voyage that birthed Moby-Dick. The ceremony, happening Friday at 11 AM, will feature Emmy-winning actor Sam Waterston reading Father Mapple’s iconic sermon from chapter nine.
