- 0:00What's going on, everybody, and what's going on, folks?
- 0:03And welcome to the legendary, legendary podcast of the Deconstructing Topic
- 0:09Podcast, where today, you know what I would normally say, wait a minute,
- 0:13we got a little bit of that jazz going on in the background,
- 0:17because in this episode, and rightfully so, and suited for the occasion,
- 0:24in my podcast, and my name is David, by the way, nice to meet you.
- 0:28But anyways, we're doing a nice little podcast now In my podcast,
- 0:32we tend to grab a topic and we just,
- 0:35But today we got like a little sort of a little gumbo going on A little bit of,
- 0:40how can I say, a little bit of everything And the fact that on this past weekend,
- 0:46and I'm the boy deconstructing topics It's trying to do one of those things
- 0:50that I've been wanting to do And it's kind of sightseeing, especially in New
- 0:54York City and certain parts.
- 0:56We kind of tend to forget. And this weekend, I decided to, hey,
- 1:01why not link up with my sister in arms, Nisi, from her podcast on Filter.
- 1:06I will put the links in the description.
- 1:09My sister, my podcast sister in arms.
- 1:12And I think we're going to be sightseeing buddies, you know,
- 1:14now that she's, you know, and just to give you a little bit background,
- 1:17she's actually from the South, from the DMV area. If you saw all the episodes
- 1:22and the little episode that we did, she's from the Washington, D.C.
- 1:27Area, North Virginia, all that good stuff, Maryland.
- 1:30So the fact that she's been living here for a few years, she's,
- 1:33hey, listen, what New York City is all about?
- 1:36And, you know, what one better place?
- 1:39And there's a lot of great places that one could go to in New York City.
- 1:43But what better place than Harlem?
- 1:46And in this case, West Harlem, the fact that, you know, I did an episode in
- 1:51regards to Arturo Alfonso Schomburg,
- 1:54the Puerto Rican gentleman who is into the African or the Black,
- 2:00how can I say, studies and so on.
- 2:02And he is one of the grandfather of Black History Month.
- 2:06Shout out to Alfonso Arturo Schomburg. Let's go.
- 2:11So the fact that we was on a mission to, yo, let's make it happen.
- 2:15West Harlem and then we know we kind of before we
- 2:18went to West Harlem it's not like we went there without a
- 2:21plan we had a plan but the beautiful thing about doing
- 2:25these sightseeing is that sometimes you have a plan and you go along with the
- 2:29plan and the plan works but sometimes hey you got a little detour so in my podcast
- 2:34we kind of talk about my uh ventures here in regards to West Harlem places that
- 2:39I recommend places that I visited and I you know I want to say to people out there,
- 2:44especially whether you're living in New York City, especially if you're living in New York City.
- 2:49But if you're not living in New York City, you're listening to this and you want to head here.
- 2:54West Harlem is an interesting place.
- 2:56It's definitely an interesting place, not too crowded for those people out there,
- 3:00like, you know, want to go to Times Square, obviously, if you're a tourist or
- 3:04outside of New York City.
- 3:05But if you want to eat and you still want to enjoy something cultural,
- 3:09then what better way than to West Harlem?
- 3:12And we was on a mission to go to the Schaumburg Center for Research,
- 3:16you know, up there on 131st Street.
- 3:18And the fact that when we took the the two
- 3:21train there once you get off voila the library's
- 3:25like right smacking you and we was like
- 3:27you know what we looking at each other like you know what the game plan is
- 3:30to do that thing but we was starving
- 3:33and we was like you know what we already had
- 3:36a place going you know a place in mind if
- 3:40you're if you're feeling this conversation already hit that
- 3:43like share comment feel free if you've
- 3:46been to harlem let me know where in harlem you've been again harlem
- 3:49got the west harlem where we was at and you got
- 3:52the east harlem where it's more of the spanish harlem which is would be let's
- 3:56say lexington line or so on which is the sixth train west harlem would be markham
- 4:00x boulevard and so on both beautiful places but the landmarks and the historical
- 4:06places would be in west harlem so once again hit up the hit up the kid with all that good stuff.
- 4:12Hit that comment section. Let me know what place in Harlem that you've been
- 4:16or have not gone and share that information.
- 4:19And what we decided to do, because
- 4:21he's from the South, is to get a little bit of that biscuit action.
- 4:26Let's go. So we hit up the Harlem Biscuit Company up there.
- 4:32And it's, you know, how can I say it? I was starving.
- 4:35But the Harlem Biscuit Company that's in the Adam Clayton Power.
- 4:39Again, I'm going to put all the information on my description so that those people can visit.
- 4:44You know, if you're like a biscuit person with the gravies, and I'm a biscuit person.
- 4:49You know, the gravy's, hey, wonderful. But I ordered myself a little bit of
- 4:54the egg chicken with gravy biscuit going on, and it was very hearty. It was very good.
- 5:00The service was wonderful. I mean, extremely, extremely wonderful.
- 5:06The fact that you go to a place and get a good food and still manage to kind
- 5:10of be surrounded by individuals that, you know, you feel like you knew them, you know what I mean?
- 5:15Just that fact because a lot of them was, you know, from the local shop or the local areas or whatnot.
- 5:20So they were just going in and out and different people from all different backgrounds
- 5:25just going in and into that biscuit.
- 5:28And then again, the Harlem Biscuit Company, Nisi had a biscuit and gravy.
- 5:33You know what I mean? She was kind of like looking at me like,
- 5:35damn, man, I should have added some chicken. I'm like, come on, sister.
- 5:39Come on, come on. You're from the South. You should know better, but I get it.
- 5:43If you specifically grew up with something And I want to say,
- 5:48as one from Puerto Rico, hey, listen, if you want to go to a place that you
- 5:52are so accustomed, let's say with me, with the rice and beans,
- 5:54then my natural nature, okay, if this place that's a little bit different has
- 5:59the good rice and beans or the arroz con gandule,
- 6:02I'm going to order that without, you know, without anything else.
- 6:05I just want to taste that.
- 6:07But in hindsight, it was one of those situations.
- 6:10Hey, listen, I had to get down pack. Like, let's go.
- 6:13Had to throw in that extra crispy chicken because I'm a big crispy chicken guy
- 6:17in the morning, in the night, in the evening, whatever the case, 24-7.
- 6:22Great place. I suggest that people go to the Harlem Biscuit Company.
- 6:26And then again, the information is going to go there, in my information.
- 6:30But the fact that when you get out from 135th.
- 6:34A historical, very historical, you got the YMCA building.
- 6:40So, you know, the Young Christian YMCA, Young Men Christian Association,
- 6:45for those people out there.
- 6:47And the YMCA in Harlem, it's a thing.
- 6:49It's a big thing. It's very historical.
- 6:52And they still have the awning from, like, God knows.
- 6:55So that's one of the first things that kind of hits you is the YMCA in Harlem.
- 7:00And, you know, the YMCA in Harlem.
- 7:01Again, it has been a staple in West Harlem for quite a while.
- 7:05So just to see that, like, wow, like, you're looking at history.
- 7:10So we over here doing our thing. You know, we got our bellies full and whatnot.
- 7:14So we, you know, our next kind of, hey, listen, let me kind of take you a little
- 7:21bit, set up the mood a little bit with the jazz.
- 7:26So as we walk in to West 129th Street, we're actually going to the Jazz Museum,
- 7:32which is the Harlem Jazz Museum.
- 7:35And, you know, now my understanding is that it's free to enter,
- 7:38but you make a little donation.
- 7:40There was a beautiful young lady there looking at me like, hey,
- 7:43listen, I made a donation and just looking at me like.
- 7:46Okay, you know, another donation would have hurt. So, you know,
- 7:51sometimes, hey, listen, you want to keep places like that open.
- 7:53It is a small space. Again, if you just want to kill a little bit of 30 minutes
- 7:58of your time, then that place, I mean, it might not have a lot of exhibition,
- 8:02but it does have little things here and there.
- 8:05And I think the time would be that if you read the signs, and then,
- 8:10you know, we had Duke Ellington in there, what is it, Maggie Mayo,
- 8:14something to that effect.
- 8:15And we had so many Billy Holidays You know,
- 8:18La Fania All-Star, Ray Barreto There was these good displays Tito Puente,
- 8:23you already know El Machito from Cuba I mean,
- 8:26it was just so much information To one kind of, you know Get a sense of,
- 8:34you know, something that's there So,
- 8:37you know, as we walk in now This is my thing What's happened, crazy Something,
- 8:41some crazy events happened Some random events that were just crazy One of the
- 8:46things prior to going to the museum there on West 129,
- 8:52we were passing by this coffee shop, and the coffee shop is called 787 Coffee. Shout out to 787 Coffee.
- 9:00For those people out there, there was a couple of Puerto Ricans.
- 9:04787 would be the Puerto Rican Harakot, just in case. Heads up. Let's go.
- 9:10So hence, it's a Puerto Rican coffee shop, and there was a sign that says.
- 9:15Rum r-u-a-m r-u-m yes rum
- 9:18infused espresso the sister
- 9:22nissi look at that uh sign and she said well let's go look at that and you know
- 9:27me being uh um you know a spirit guy you know an adult beverage drinker that
- 9:32got me hyped so i was like you know what let's do the jazz thing matter of fact
- 9:36if it's 30 minutes there let's do 28 minutes there let's go let's go to this uh coffee shop but.
- 9:42Lo and behold, the rum-infused coffee, it's not liquor-based or it's not an espresso with rum.
- 9:51My understanding, I believe the gentleman said something that some of the beans
- 9:56were infused with, you know, in the Don Quo barrel. Something to that effect.
- 10:01Don Quo or Don Quo being a Puerto Rican rum and the number one rum in Puerto
- 10:07Rico. for those people out there
- 10:09that for some reason get it mixed up with Bacardi. Hello, don't cool.
- 10:14That's more Puerto Rican as official as it is. So hence 787.
- 10:20There was a nice menu with lattes and one of them was the Coquito latte.
- 10:26And I just say it's this, for some reason, for some reason, it's like we are looking at the menu.
- 10:31We did order the rum espresso, but we also did the, we did a horchata latte.
- 10:38For some reason, I guess we were just looking at the menu thinking in my mind or in our minds.
- 10:43We'll come back again another time. So we're going to knock that latte thing.
- 10:48And let me tell you something. So the latte, the horchata latte,
- 10:53you know, it's a Mexican drink. But let me tell you something.
- 10:57Wow. That's all I can say. Both coffee was wow. I'm like, oh my goodness.
- 11:04Nice. I like the fact that they actually want to say that regular milk,
- 11:07it doesn't do the body good, nor my belly good.
- 11:10So we did the old thing going on.
- 11:13And the young sister also kind of opted to like, yeah, yeah,
- 11:16I'm not doing regular milk as well.
- 11:17But let me tell you something. Delicioso.
- 11:20Delicioso. ese cafecito and you know me
- 11:24for some reason uh i'm not gonna go crazy
- 11:27i just kind of went outside and spiked up the rest of that uh oh chat the ice
- 11:31cold that was yummy i think i i was taking the bad bunny song a cafecito con
- 11:37ron to the extent of the next level of the next level but we made it happen
- 11:42seven eight seven coffee let me tell you something wonderful what's interesting And again,
- 11:47us, as we're hitting these doors, as we're in this shop, we see different people
- 11:53from all walk of life, wonderful people, all walk of life.
- 11:58As a matter of fact, there was a couple of gentlemen there. I'll get to that story in a few.
- 12:04But the fact is that, as I Google, 787 is actually a very popular viral coffee
- 12:12shop to go to when it comes to those in the coffee world there.
- 12:16That loves the cafecito, ya tu sabe.
- 12:19So I just didn't know. My bad.
- 12:22Again, I'm not a coffee lover. I'm trying to gain, I'm wanting to hunt more
- 12:26of a beer places, beer garden, you know, let's go.
- 12:29But the fact is that we were there in a place that, again, we kind of enjoy the whole environment.
- 12:35Now, interestingly enough, once again, 787 Coffee, I'll put the links in the description.
- 12:41There was these two, there was a gentleman, but, you know, then it was two.
- 12:46And they had an accent. And I asked, I'll take it back, because the gentleman,
- 12:51we were talking, and he asked me if I know where Cap USA is at.
- 12:56Keep in mind, it's that. But Cap USA, for those there locally,
- 13:00and for those there who are in the hat, sports hat game, Cap USA is a place
- 13:06to go up in Harlem, West 125th.
- 13:10And the fact that this gentleman, and he's up there in age, has a little accent, right?
- 13:16And for me, he looked a little bit, how can I say it to you?
- 13:20Because he said he's from England. I did ask that question because I was curious
- 13:24because for some reason he sounded a little bit...
- 13:27Not from England, more like New Zealand, but then he had that kind of Maori
- 13:32people, kind of Polynesian kind of look.
- 13:35And the fact that he's asking me for Cap USA, it tells you how popular this
- 13:42place is when it comes to certain things.
- 13:45So the fact that he reminded me and I reminded my sister-in-arms,
- 13:49there's a popular, popular, viral hat shop that has.
- 13:55I don't know how many hat collections that's there Thousands And if you're a
- 13:59sports fan and you're a hat fan And you love jackets That's definitely the place
- 14:04to go So we headed to Cap USA And lo and behold, the couple of gentlemen They
- 14:08saw us and hey, okay, you're here too,
- 14:11And my niece picked up a hat Nice hat Shout out to the D.C.
- 14:15Area Once again, she had to pick up a Washington Wizard Hearts with the D.C.
- 14:20Thing going on I'm like, okay I'm already wearing a hat, Notre Dame,
- 14:24let's go So we made that way.
- 14:26Once again, if you are from the area or whatever the case might be,
- 14:31or if you're listening to this and you'd be like, you know what?
- 14:33I'm a hats person. I love collecting hats.
- 14:36Perhaps not wearing them. Then I'm going to say that CAP USA would be a place to go.
- 14:42So as we're doing this, we're doing that, we walk in, kind of,
- 14:46you know, we kind of was full. Like, okay.
- 14:48Like, you know, and then the weather started good. And one of those things is
- 14:52like, okay, now is that time.
- 14:54To hit the place that we wanted to hit, which is the Schomburg Research Center.
- 15:01And the Schomburg Research Center is on West 135th, and it has the goods of the goods of the goods.
- 15:07But the fact is that the Schomburg Research Center, it's a library.
- 15:12And let me just tell you something. When you go in there, you know you're in a special spot.
- 15:18And I mean, I'm going to say this. So sadly, there was parts of the center that
- 15:23was closed for renovation and that would be the gallery.
- 15:26So that's fine. But we did kind of work ourselves down to the library, did the code check in.
- 15:32But the fact that because it is the 100th centennial celebration of the Schomburg
- 15:40Center for Research in Black Culture, we got a special library card.
- 15:45Let's go, please, everybody from New York City, get a library card.
- 15:49They'll come in handy. Going to a library, to be honest with you,
- 15:52it is a staple of humanity that one can go to a place and relax and just enjoy
- 15:58and just be able to kind of pick a book and just...
- 16:02And the fact that we made it to these research center library,
- 16:06there was a couple of people there doing the research.
- 16:09A couple of gentlemen having a conversation.
- 16:12Little low, obviously, one of the library clerks kind of had to remind them,
- 16:18can you keep it a little bit low, you know, and whatnot.
- 16:21But the fact that it was just beautiful, I kind of was kind of like in that
- 16:26little kind of feeling a little bit, man, the research center.
- 16:29But the fact that in a month, as this recording takes place,
- 16:33there will be reopening and they're going to be, well, what they're doing now
- 16:38is actually expanding. In a sense, they're a research gallery center,
- 16:42so I can't wait to go back.
- 16:44But the fact that being on the Scharmburg Center for Research in Black Culture
- 16:49was wonderful. It felt good.
- 16:52I took a lot of pictures, you know, Jay's Baldwin portrait there. We head to the shop.
- 16:58A lot of goodies. I suggest people to go there.
- 17:01Now, I believe that they had an event going on there, and then they also got an auditorium.
- 17:07So I took a little peek of the auditorium and there was, you know,
- 17:11about close to 100 people in the auditorium as this speaker person was reading a book.
- 17:18So they had kind of like a reading book session thing going on there.
- 17:21But I, listen, I can't wait. Let's go. It felt good.
- 17:25But actually, we, and I say we as my podcasting crime sister,
- 17:31Nisi, we basically kind of was revolving the whole idea of the center.
- 17:37And because of the gallery place was temporarily closed, we was unable to kind
- 17:42of reap the full benefits.
- 17:44But again, we had so much fun in regards to that situation.
- 17:48So as we're doing our thing or whatever the case might be, we make a couple of stops.
- 17:52And there's another historical place, I believe, West 138, and it would be the
- 18:01Abomination Baptist Church up there in Harlem.
- 18:05Shout out. Beautiful, beautiful.
- 18:08Just the whole gives you that scene.
- 18:12I mean, I believe that the church was built somewhere in the 1800s,
- 18:16if I'm not mistaken, founded in 1801. So look at that.
- 18:19I mean, it just gave you a good vibe, a old school vibe located right in 138th
- 18:25Street between Adam Clayton Power and Lenox Avenue.
- 18:29And once again, it's a wonderful just to pass by. Wonderful place.
- 18:34You know, it just gave you some good vibe.
- 18:36And, you know, it's very famous for once again Just having so many events and so on and so forth,
- 18:43And, you know, I definitely enjoy I definitely kind of felt good Took a couple
- 18:47of pictures We took a couple of pictures And I'm like, okay You know,
- 18:51this is cool Okay, you know where we had it next And then somewhere.
- 18:58The beer person in me obviously got a kind of I cannot say it to you Before
- 19:04the beer, I'd like to mention We did hit a couple of shops and what they called,
- 19:08you know, a gift shop. There was a gift shop.
- 19:12And I'm going to use the word gift shop loosely. But again, nonetheless,
- 19:16it's what it is that you go there and they got these wonderful things.
- 19:20And this one's all it was called All Things Africa.
- 19:23And let me tell you something. The minute you walk in there now,
- 19:26first and foremost, as a gentleman playing a little bit of bongo going on.
- 19:31You already know, like, OK. And there was these beautiful ladies in there.
- 19:35And there was this beautiful coconut mango scent.
- 19:40And I'm like, and it was the incense. And I'm like, yo.
- 19:45What is that? You know, so you go in there and it's one of those things that
- 19:49you got these different little artifacts, these little things,
- 19:53intricates and all on that is Africa related.
- 19:57And let's just say there that, hey, listen, we went there empty handed.
- 20:01We left there with a couple of bags. The fact is that, once again,
- 20:05this is us and this is people.
- 20:07And I always suggest people, please support local businesses if you can.
- 20:12Even if you spend something for $5, $1, whatever the case might be, it does mean a lot.
- 20:18I always recommend people work with cash. Work with cash.
- 20:23A lot of these small business mom and pops, how can I say it?
- 20:27They still got their technology thing with credit cards or whatever it is now.
- 20:31But once again, you don't want them to be charged and you don't want them to
- 20:35charge you some type of fee just for using your credit or debit or anything.
- 20:39So I suggest that cash Unless they tell you otherwise But cash still rules Cash
- 20:45rules everything around me Let's go But in fact we went there a little bit Kind
- 20:50of happy and smelling like coconut mango And I'm saying to myself Let's make it happen Again,
- 20:55we did the Abanesian We did the YMCA And lo and behold Your boy Your boy Deconstructed
- 21:02Topic Podcast A big beer aficionado here.
- 21:09Carnavasaur Sometimes I'll be saying that word Sometimes I used
- 21:11to I think I say that word When I'm When I'm more like Drinking
- 21:15something So next time I say that word I'm just And
- 21:18you already know him The word I'm trying to say Is when you're an expert In
- 21:20something Especially in this case Either a beer expert Or someone who Have been
- 21:26around the world Let's go But As we walk in I'm like you know what I'm in the
- 21:30mood for a good beer There's a There was a restaurant That says crap beer But again It's not.
- 21:36It was a restaurant. I'm aiming for a place that just sells beer,
- 21:40but you could just grab something.
- 21:41And lo and behold, I Google beer gardens or crap beer places in Harlem.
- 21:48And there's one right across the street looking at me like, I'm over here.
- 21:53And that place is called Harlem Hops. Over there, Harlem Hops.
- 21:58Let me tell you something about Harlem Hops.
- 22:00Harlem Hops is popping. And it's one of those things that,
- 22:07can I say, and I apologize for me taking a little bit of pause.
- 22:12I was just kind of Googling Harlan Hops. I just want to give the address to Adam Clayton Power.
- 22:18And it has a good selection, good vibe, very kind of rustic,
- 22:22nice, dark, you know, something where you like. You know what I mean?
- 22:26They do serve other things more than just, can I say, beer. I see that they
- 22:31do have a couple of mixes here and there for those people that do want to enjoy
- 22:36something different than just beer. But the beer selection was good.
- 22:40They do have a thing where you could grab some bites by all means.
- 22:45But I was there for the beers.
- 22:46And I'm going to say a lot of these beers were mostly, and if I'm not mistaken,
- 22:51all of them were black-owned. And I'm one to kind of...
- 22:56The issue when it comes to beer. Beer is a universal. Beer is a universal thing,
- 23:01especially for those people who enjoy the beers.
- 23:03But for the sake of that, the fact that this place just have the only,
- 23:08only selection and beautiful selection once again.
- 23:12I think we did the little press going on there and we had some black owned,
- 23:17not only black owned, but woman and black owned drinks.
- 23:21I have a lemon cake, pancake beer. I'm like, what?
- 23:26I think I tasted like six different beers that day.
- 23:29Shout out to Harlem Hops. It's very nice, very cozy.
- 23:33Again, if you are one to just want to lay back and throw a couple of drinks
- 23:36there, and I'm one to say that with beers, beers, it's more affordable than cocktails.
- 23:44And I'm one to say that, hey, listen, beers is that thing.
- 23:48Because beers, you know that you're going to have the beer. You see,
- 23:50when you go to places, in regards to cocktail, it's a hit or miss.
- 23:53Because how do you know they're actually doing the cocktail thing?
- 23:56You know what I mean? Wink, wink and charge you $15, $16, $17.
- 24:00The fact that you with a beer, hey, let me get this.
- 24:03The fact that there's different sizes of these beers because they are from the tap draft.
- 24:08So basically, if you want to have a small five ounce and spend a couple of dollars,
- 24:12by all means, do a little sampler set, by all means.
- 24:16Definitely, that's one of the crazy things there in regards to the Harlow hops.
- 24:20But before that, before I even forget, But there's an interesting story.
- 24:25So there's this building called Rennie. And it's a condo building right there in West Harlem.
- 24:30And it's interesting because Nisi likes to take pictures.
- 24:35And she's taking pictures of a sign of the rent because she likes to do the
- 24:37Google research because it's supposed to be a historical building,
- 24:41but it looks like they turn it into a condo.
- 24:45Affordable, quote unquote, you know what I mean? But anyways,
- 24:48and it was a black gentleman that was sitting or at least standing somewhere
- 24:52behind looking for a parking meter thing going on, getting that little ticket so he could park his car.
- 24:58And for some reason, and I'm not going to mention the person's name,
- 25:02but nonetheless, It was a former football player, and I kind of recognized that
- 25:08individual, a former football player legend at that end.
- 25:12I had to call his name, you know, or whatever the case, and he turned around
- 25:16and was like, yes, you better be embraced.
- 25:19And just how that day went, and DC was like, oh, my God, you met somebody that
- 25:25you grew up watching and so on and so forth.
- 25:28And I'm like, yes, that's so interesting. And just the fact that that came from
- 25:33a random thing, you know?
- 25:35So, shout out to the former football player, legendary, definitely legendary
- 25:41football player from the New York Giants.
- 25:43So, I kind of had that thing like, oh, that's you. Oh, my goodness.
- 25:49But it's just how that Saturday and our Saturday would go.
- 25:53That we were just on a mission and we just came stumbling around whether it's
- 25:58787 Coffee Shop or the Harlem Hops or the football player. But the fact that
- 26:04we're just stumbling around that, and that's what you love about New York City.
- 26:08You know what I'm saying? A lot of times, a lot of people tend to break their head.
- 26:12And yes, New York City tends to be a little bit overwhelming if you don't have
- 26:15a plan, but it doesn't mean that you can.
- 26:19Sometimes I like to think that when you're doing the New York City thing,
- 26:23and again, for those people out there listening, whether you live in New York
- 26:26City or outside looking to visit.
- 26:29Just circle or at least mark certain things that you have an idea,
- 26:33what you want to eat, where you want to go, and always come up with a contingency plan.
- 26:38Because, again, in New York City, you're going to come across many places and
- 26:42you will stumble and you will be like, oh, my goodness, I wish I knew about this place.
- 26:47Because now let's say you want to say, OK, this place has this burger joint.
- 26:51But then to come and find out this place has a burger, a beer,
- 26:56a thing going on that is so special that you'd be like, damn it.
- 27:00But you see, that's what New York City is. So just keep that in mind.
- 27:04It is overwhelming. It is good to come with a plan. but nevertheless
- 27:07come with something so as we're
- 27:11doing our thing or whatever the case then we decided you
- 27:13know what it's time to kind of switch it up a little bit here and then we wind
- 27:18up going to the korean huff which is a korean restaurant and had a couple of
- 27:23drinks and so on and nice wings i don't know what to call these wings these
- 27:29are were like a sesame wings.
- 27:32And I want to say this, I'm a wing dude.
- 27:35You know, amen to that. And when you're eating wings, you always,
- 27:39you always want to feel like a satisfaction of something.
- 27:42There's those people that like the crunchy wings, the crispy wings,
- 27:46soft wings, barbecue wings, plain wings, the small wings so that you could dunk
- 27:52all type of Buffalo, you know, wings.
- 27:55And I'm a wing guy myself, you know what I mean? And, you know,
- 27:57when I say buffalo wings, again, it's not with the buffalo sauce,
- 28:01but just how the cut is, or let's say wingette.
- 28:05And the fact that these wings were very crispy on the outside with the sesame
- 28:10sauce there going on, little nice sweet sauce.
- 28:14It's like for those people out there that ate a sesame chicken,
- 28:17imagine a sesame wings, crispy on the outside, a little bit of that bread loaf,
- 28:23a little bit, and you bite off that crispiness and the flavors.
- 28:28But the fact that the wings and these wingettes, I'm going to say wingettes
- 28:32because they were cut. You already know what cut it is.
- 28:35But the fact that these wingettes had that a little bit of, and I'm not going
- 28:40to say a little bit, but tender meat inside, excuse me, and the fact that when
- 28:45you got this tender meat, that was a combination that you just put that wing.
- 28:49And these aren't all these wings that you're just going to put one in your mouth
- 28:52and just go, you know, just snap off the bone. No, no, no, no, no. No.
- 28:57Unless, you know, your teeth is made out of jaws or something to that effect
- 29:02because there's a lot of crispiness. But the fact is that when you took a bite,
- 29:07That bite, if you didn't have meat, don't worry about it. It has some sauce in that skin.
- 29:12And that's where that skin actually was coming in with the crispiness.
- 29:16Indeed, a beautiful, beautiful night and beautiful day.
- 29:20Because it's one of those things that, once again, I'm trying to implement some
- 29:23of these city sites here in New York City.
- 29:26I did one not so long ago, a few months ago, Puerto Rico.
- 29:29So keep this in touch. Because, once again, follow me, share.
- 29:34Because we want to kind of give you little places where you could just,
- 29:38wow, that's there. You know what I mean? That's New York City.
- 29:42Wow, like I did not know that. Oh, I did not know that. But you know what?
- 29:45Having fun and all while getting our education on in the Schomburg Center.
- 29:52The fact that we were rocking a Turo Schomburg's T-shirt with the Puerto Rican,
- 29:58with the African colors, the Pan-African colors, and the fact that people was
- 30:03just giving us shadow because of that shirt.
