- 0:00Welcome back to Spy Trader , I'm your host , Barry 'The Bull ' Bucks , and it is 5 am on Tuesday , November 4th , 2025 , Pacific time .
- 0:11We are diving into a market that has enjoyed a massive winning streak , but futures are showing some shortterm caution this morning .
- 0:18The core story is still AI driving a narrow but powerful rally , and we need to talk about how sustainable this momentum really is .
- 0:27The technologyheavy Nasdaq Composite has led the charge , up 4.7% last month , but today , futures across the board are signaling a pullback , with the S&P 500 futures down nearly one percent .
- 0:43The biggest headline remains AI infrastructure spending .
- 0:48Amazon jumped significantly after reporting stellar Q3 revenue of 180.2 billion and announcing a reported 38 billion multiyear deal with OpenAI , leveraging Amazon Web Services .
- 1:03This momentum is clearly driving the chip sector as well , with Nvidia continuing to push higher and AMD seeing a massive 58% gain in October .
- 1:14However , the valuation watch is critical .
- 1:17Palantir reported strong Q3 earnings , raising its fullyear guidance to 4.4 billion , but its stock still fell afterhours due to investor anxiety over its extremely high valuation , specifically that PricetoSales ratio of 85 .
- 1:34We are seeing major M&A volatility too , particularly in defensives , where KimberlyClark dropped 14.6% after announcing its 48.7 billion acquisition of Kenvue .
- 1:48Our analysis points to a highly concentrated market risk .
- 1:52The strong performance of the S&P 500 is not matched by the broader S&P 500 Equal Weight Index , meaning a small handful of megacaps are doing all the heavy lifting .
- 2:04While Q3 earnings season has been resilient , with 63% of companies beating estimates and showing 13.8% earnings growth , the macroeconomic backdrop is deteriorating .
- 2:18The October ISM US Manufacturing PMI dropped sharply to 48.7 , signaling contraction , and we are seeing slower job growth and large layoffs reported by companies like Amazon and UPS .
- 2:33This is complicated by the ongoing Federal Government Shutdown , which is delaying the release of key economic data and adding to investor uncertainty .
- 2:44Despite the Fed's recent 25 basispoint rate cut , the 10Year Treasury Yield remains elevated between 4.08% and 4.11% , keeping longterm borrowing costs high .
- 2:58Given this environment of latecycle exuberance against deteriorating breadth , we need to be selective .
- 3:05First , you must maintain exposure to the core trend : the Invesco QQQ Trust ( QQQ ) or the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) remains the best way to capture the continued dominance of companies like Nvidia and Amazon .
- 3:22Second , to hedge against that narrow S&P 500 risk , diversify by adding to the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF ( VTI ) , which offers broader exposure to mid and smallcaps that can benefit if rate cuts accelerate .
- 3:38Finally , favor cyclicals like financials ; the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLF ) is benefiting from strong bank earnings and the current rate environment .
- 3:48In fixed income , avoid longduration exposure and focus on broad stability using the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF ( BND ) .
- 3:58That’s it for this hour of Spy Trader .
- 4:01Trade safely , folks , and we’ll catch you next time .
