- 1:00Speaker 1: Larry Horde, passed away two nights before the Super Bowl
- 1:03Speaker 1: at the age of eighty five. I wrote about my
- 1:05Speaker 1: dad on Facebook and I hope you don't mind if
- 1:08Speaker 1: I read part of that post to begin this podcast
- 1:10Speaker 1: as a tribute to a great role model. My parents
- 1:14Speaker 1: divorced when I was young, so I don't remember living
- 1:16Speaker 1: with my dad. But fortunately my folks did a wonderful
- 1:19Speaker 1: job of remaining civil for the sake of me and
- 1:22Speaker 1: my sisters. I never heard either of them say a
- 1:25Speaker 1: bad word about the other. And although we lived with
- 1:28Speaker 1: my mom, we spent a lot of time with my
- 1:30Speaker 1: dad Sunday afternoons at my grandmother's house, camping trips in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the old school bus that he converted into an RV,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and summer vacations to historical places like Washington, d c.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And Plymouth Rock. My very first memory of my dad
- 1:47Speaker 1: is calling him at work and asking for stuff. It
- 1:50Speaker 1: was basically, Hi, Daddy, can you bring me whatever. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: was probably four or five years old, and what I
- 1:57Speaker 1: remember is that he always came through. Now, maybe he
- 2:02Speaker 1: didn't bring me the thing that I asked for, but
- 2:05Speaker 1: if I made that phone call, he would come by
- 2:07Speaker 1: the house after work to see me. In retrospect, I
- 2:11Speaker 1: suppose that's really why I made the call. Anybody that
- 2:14Speaker 1: knew my dad can relate to that story because he
- 2:17Speaker 1: loved to help people. Maybe it was a ride to
- 2:20Speaker 1: or from church, maybe it was help with a handyman
- 2:24Speaker 1: project where he showed up with his toolbox and fixed
- 2:27Speaker 1: what needed to be fixed. Maybe it was just being
- 2:31Speaker 1: there in a time of need when a friend needed
- 2:34Speaker 1: a shoulder to lean on. If he was able to,
- 2:38Speaker 1: my dad always came through. Another early memory of my
- 2:43Speaker 1: dad involved a ship in a glass bottle. He had
- 2:47Speaker 1: a very detailed and elaborate version of one of those.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I don't know if he built it or bought it,
- 2:52Speaker 1: but I remember thinking it was the most amazing thing
- 2:55Speaker 1: I had ever seen until I dropped it and broke
- 2:59Speaker 1: it into a billion pieces. The guilt was overwhelming, and
- 3:04Speaker 1: I was terrified by how mad my dad would be.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But he wasn't, or at least he didn't let it show.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Instead of being angry, he comforted me, assured me that
- 3:16Speaker 1: it was an accident and that he could easily get
- 3:18Speaker 1: another one. Anybody that knew my dad can relate to
- 3:22Speaker 1: that story too. My dad was kind, My dad was caring.
- 3:28Speaker 1: My dad was forgiving. The best job I ever had
- 3:32Speaker 1: was working for my dad after my freshman year of
- 3:34Speaker 1: college when he owned the upholsters of Jamestown. My job
- 3:39Speaker 1: that summer, along with my friend Jim, was to remove
- 3:41Speaker 1: car seats so that the upholstery could be redone. Once
- 3:45Speaker 1: the work was finished, Jim and I had to put
- 3:48Speaker 1: the seats back into the car. The job itself kind
- 3:52Speaker 1: of sucked, but I loved it because I got to
- 3:55Speaker 1: be around my dad every day that summer. I got
- 3:58Speaker 1: to see him at work, interacting with employees and customers,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and I got to observe his craftsmanship first hand. There
- 4:07Speaker 1: are two things I clearly did not get from my dad,
- 4:11Speaker 1: his hair or his ability to fix and build things.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He was a very skilled man who paid tremendous attention
- 4:19Speaker 1: to detail to the things he worked on, and built furniture,
- 4:24Speaker 1: antique cars, model trainsets, model airplanes. As I mentioned earlier,
- 4:30Speaker 1: the man actually turned an old school bus into an
- 4:33Speaker 1: r V. My dad was especially proud of two things,
- 4:38Speaker 1: his service in the Marine Corps and his family. He
- 4:42Speaker 1: loved God, he loved his country, and he loved his
- 4:45Speaker 1: friends and family. One of the most meaningful things he
- 4:48Speaker 1: ever said to me occurred when my son was born.
- 4:51Speaker 1: He said, now you'll truly know how much you mean
- 4:56Speaker 1: to me. My dad was a very loving man. A
- 5:00Speaker 1: few weeks ago, there was a story about me in
- 5:02Speaker 1: my hometown newspaper describing how I would have the opportunity
- 5:05Speaker 1: to broadcast the Super Bowl as the radio voice of
- 5:08Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals. A few days before he died, my
- 5:12Speaker 1: step sister read that story to my dad, and he
- 5:15Speaker 1: was smiling and responsive. I'd like to think it was
- 5:19Speaker 1: a final happy moment before he passed away. I do
- 5:22Speaker 1: know this, he didn't need a radio or the Internet
- 5:26Speaker 1: to listen to my broadcast. He caught every word. I
- 5:30Speaker 1: cherished those memories, and I'm grateful to have had as
- 5:33Speaker 1: many years with my dad as we did. He was
- 5:37Speaker 1: a wonderful man. Now time for my conversation with Dave
- 5:41Speaker 1: Lapham and Jeff Butch Hobson. Well, we can't say it
- 5:46Speaker 1: was the best team enfranchise history, since the eighty one
- 5:49Speaker 1: and eighty eight teams also made it that far, but
- 5:52Speaker 1: it might be the most remarkable team in franchise history,
- 5:56Speaker 1: considering six twenty five and won the previous two years
- 5:59Speaker 1: and a quarterback coming act from major surgery. Lap what
- 6:02Speaker 1: will you remember most about the twenty twenty one Bengals.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I think their resiliency and never give up attitude. You know,
- 6:13Speaker 1: they were behind double digit scores in multiple games, big games,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you know, against good teams that clinched the division title,
- 6:22Speaker 1: clinched the conference championship. I mean, that's that's some pretty
- 6:26Speaker 1: powerful stuff, you know. And when you feel like, no
- 6:29Speaker 1: matter what, no matter what the circumstance, we have confidence
- 6:32Speaker 1: we can come back, you know, get things right, square
- 6:35Speaker 1: it away and win this football game. And it became
- 6:40Speaker 1: like a self fulfilling prophecy, you know. I mean, once
- 6:42Speaker 1: they did it once, it was like, we're gonna do
- 6:44Speaker 1: it again. We're gonna do it again, and it just
- 6:48Speaker 1: I mean that that stuff becomes powerful, you know. I mean,
- 6:51Speaker 1: it's just it's almost like, don't even question it. It's
- 6:55Speaker 1: it's it's part of our makeup. It's part of our DNA.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That's what this football team was all about. It. It
- 7:01Speaker 1: was very impressive. There's there's no two ways about it.
- 7:03Speaker 1: And I agree. I think I think this team might
- 7:06Speaker 1: have been as as impressive a turnaround deserves in franchise history,
- 7:11Speaker 1: never mind our NFL history, I should say, never mind
- 7:15Speaker 1: franchise history. I mean, it was crazy. How about you,
- 7:18Speaker 1: But I was thinking I wasn't thinking about me when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you floated that question out, Hardy. I was thinking about
- 7:24Speaker 1: the kids who are eight nine, ten years old now
- 7:29Speaker 1: because I think this team, this will be their team
- 7:32Speaker 1: for all time, just for all the things that lap
- 7:35Speaker 1: Lap talked about, all the comebacks, how surprising it was,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and the Bengals will be their team. I you know.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And maybe it's because kind of a romantic lush when
- 7:46Speaker 1: it comes to the sixty seven Red Sox, but to me,
- 7:48Speaker 1: there's some there's some similarities. Finished a game and a
- 7:52Speaker 1: half out of last place in sixty six, nobody gave
- 7:55Speaker 1: him a shot. They came out of nowhere in sixty seven,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and that's the year I started. I was eight years old.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I didn't know who the Red Sox were in sixty six,
- 8:03Speaker 1: but I sure did in sixty seven, and that's why
- 8:07Speaker 1: I fell in love with a Red Sox. And the
- 8:08Speaker 1: sixty seven team will always be my team. So there's
- 8:12Speaker 1: eight nine year old kids and Anderson and Cheviot and Covington,
- 8:17Speaker 1: this is going to be their team. This is going
- 8:19Speaker 1: to be their sixty seven Red Sox, the twenty one Bengals,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and when they go to their grave and eighty five,
- 8:25Speaker 1: when they're eighty five, you know they'll be they'll they'll
- 8:30Speaker 1: probably be the kids will be talking about that twenty
- 8:33Speaker 1: one Bengals team. It's it was that I think. I
- 8:36Speaker 1: don't think I'm overdoing it to say it was that
- 8:38Speaker 1: kind of team. Yeah, I'm with you there. I think
- 8:42Speaker 1: the energy created by the team of the fan base
- 8:44Speaker 1: really stands out to me as well. We always hear
- 8:47Speaker 1: coaches and executives at various points refer to their fans
- 8:51Speaker 1: as we've got the greatest fans in the world. And
- 8:54Speaker 1: I remember Rick Minter doing that when the UC football
- 8:57Speaker 1: team played in the Humanitarian Ball, the first Bowl game
- 9:00Speaker 1: in more than forty years, and he's on that blue
- 9:03Speaker 1: turf in Boise, Idaho, after they beat Utah State. Let's
- 9:07Speaker 1: go BEARCAF fans. We got the greatest fans in the world.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And at that point it was a very small I mean,
- 9:12Speaker 1: there might have been twenty Cincinnati fans that made the
- 9:15Speaker 1: trip out to Boise, and the UC football fan base
- 9:19Speaker 1: was just growing at that point. It's awesome now, but
- 9:21Speaker 1: back then it was small but loyal. But people always
- 9:25Speaker 1: say that. But I really do think the Bengals might
- 9:29Speaker 1: have the greatest fans in the world. I mean, the
- 9:32Speaker 1: way that this city rallied around this team this year,
- 9:35Speaker 1: the scene when they got back from the Super Bowl,
- 9:38Speaker 1: the fans channing who Day in Tennessee and at Kansas
- 9:43Speaker 1: City and big numbers. It was incredible to me. And
- 9:47Speaker 1: as we do this podcast, I'm recording it from Orlando.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I went for a run this morning in a Bengal
- 9:53Speaker 1: shirt and I'm getting stopped on the UCF campus by
- 9:57Speaker 1: people just going like, hey, Bengals are you Bengals fan?
- 10:00Speaker 1: We love the Bengals. So for whatever reason, uh, this
- 10:04Speaker 1: team has really captured the imagination not only of Cincinnati
- 10:08Speaker 1: but football fans all over the country. It's incredible. That's
- 10:11Speaker 1: what I was gonna say, Dan h Joe Barrow is
- 10:15Speaker 1: maybe I don't know, if you do the Q what
- 10:18Speaker 1: do they call it, the Q rating or the Q
- 10:20Speaker 1: score or whatever on Joe Barrow, he may be as
- 10:22Speaker 1: high as her as in the world. I mean, I'm
- 10:24Speaker 1: not kidding you. This this this Uh. You know, everybody
- 10:27Speaker 1: loves the underdog, and the Bengals were the underdog. I
- 10:29Speaker 1: mean they were the team, like you said, six twenty
- 10:31Speaker 1: five and one the last two seasons, and then they
- 10:33Speaker 1: go to the super Bowl. There's that's not There's not
- 10:36Speaker 1: any bigger underdog than that. I mean, that's that's just
- 10:38Speaker 1: an incredible, h incredible situation. And I mean we all
- 10:44Speaker 1: have friends all over the all over the country, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: I'm telling you everybody that I've reached out to me
- 10:49Speaker 1: and I've reached out to it's like, man, everybody loves
- 10:53Speaker 1: this Cincinnati Bengal football team. I mean, it's it's a
- 10:55Speaker 1: story that that all human beings want to relate to.
- 10:59Speaker 1: You know. It mays there, whatever their goals and dreams
- 11:02Speaker 1: are in life, it makes them more plausible, more more achievable,
- 11:06Speaker 1: you know. I mean, it's it's something everybody just can
- 11:08Speaker 1: jump on and grab a hold of, and I can
- 11:11Speaker 1: go for a ride with and and and it's it's
- 11:13Speaker 1: amazing how it's it's caught fire. I think on a
- 11:16Speaker 1: and like you say, on an international basis, because uh
- 11:20Speaker 1: you know, I'm doing NFL Europe games for a few years.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I mean, the NFL is bigger than people realize, particularly
- 11:27Speaker 1: in Germany and play certain certain hotspots in Europe. It's
- 11:30Speaker 1: it's pretty it's big now. And uh so internationally it's
- 11:35Speaker 1: the NFL is a powerful, powerful machine. I'm telling you
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's a it's a nine hundred pound gorilla. And there's
- 11:42Speaker 1: no doubt and the Bengals have the modern Joe names. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: he's not the playboy the Joe Namath was, but he
- 11:51Speaker 1: is the most effortlessly cool star athlete out there right now.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And it's a wonderful thing when you add a great
- 11:58Speaker 1: of a player that he is all right. Next topic,
- 12:02Speaker 1: what was your favorite game and or moment this season?
- 12:06Speaker 1: But you go first. I think it had to be
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Well, there were two of them, the playoff game
- 12:12Speaker 1: at home, and I was thinking, I'm thinking of my
- 12:16Speaker 1: daughter Carrie, who was no doubt going to listen to
- 12:19Speaker 1: this podcast because she listened to them all big fans
- 12:23Speaker 1: of Hording and Lap. But I know she was in
- 12:25Speaker 1: the stands. I knew while she was there, and I
- 12:29Speaker 1: saw her before the game, and I know that she
- 12:31Speaker 1: was probably like everybody else in the building, she was
- 12:34Speaker 1: crying when Jermaine Pratt picked that ball off. I mean
- 12:37Speaker 1: you it was you know what you talked about this
- 12:41Speaker 1: the moment when Ted picked the ball off in fifteen. Well,
- 12:45Speaker 1: Pratt picked the ball off, and Carry and Kevin were
- 12:48Speaker 1: in the stands. They were crying, and it would perfect
- 12:51Speaker 1: this time. They were able to keep crying because the
- 12:54Speaker 1: interception held up and the other moment I remember was
- 12:56Speaker 1: just being on the field in Kansas City after they
- 12:59Speaker 1: won the a C Championship and the day's look on
- 13:03Speaker 1: a couple of NFL radio reporters and producers and watching
- 13:07Speaker 1: Boomer's size and getting pictures taken with some of his
- 13:10Speaker 1: old teammates Ikey Woods, Joe Kelly, and Bob Boomer, the
- 13:16Speaker 1: poster boy of that eighty eight team, reveling in it,
- 13:20Speaker 1: loving the moment. I was. That was great, too, Lap.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I think that the first game that really impressed me
- 13:31Speaker 1: about this football team was when they went to Baltimore
- 13:34Speaker 1: and took him apart, you know, and Harbaugh's worst defeat
- 13:38Speaker 1: in Baltimore as a head coach came at the hands
- 13:41Speaker 1: of the Cincinnati Bengals football team, and I'm like, you
- 13:43Speaker 1: know what, man, this might be a better team. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: thought it was going to be, and that that was
- 13:48Speaker 1: kind of the with me. It was like, well, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: they to come from behind. Stuff started right away. I mean,
- 13:53Speaker 1: even the opener, you know against Minnesota, they they touched
- 13:57Speaker 1: the from the jaws of defeat. You know, they clutched
- 14:00Speaker 1: his victory on a very amazing in a very amazing way.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But but I'd have to say, having played in an
- 14:09Speaker 1: ASC championship game and understanding the pressures of that to
- 14:12Speaker 1: be down by fourteen points three different times and keep
- 14:18Speaker 1: coming back and then ultimately win the football game. To me,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you know, you get down early, and you know now
- 14:25Speaker 1: you're starting to try to mount to come back, and
- 14:26Speaker 1: they still the kind of okay, I'm gonna, I'm answering,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm keeping that fourteen point lead, and you don't. You
- 14:32Speaker 1: don't say, huneez, well we gave it a shot. Man.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You keep rolling, man, you keep slugging and punching. And
- 14:38Speaker 1: then to do what they did to an offense, an
- 14:42Speaker 1: offense of structure like Kansas City has coordinated and put
- 14:47Speaker 1: together by Andy Reid, one of the best all time,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and executed by a quarterback that's amongst the greatest. And
- 14:53Speaker 1: for the Bengals defensively to do what they did in
- 14:56Speaker 1: the second half to that that triumvirate there, that trio
- 15:00Speaker 1: unbelievable to me. Unbelievable. I mean they shut Hill out,
- 15:04Speaker 1: they hold the homes to fifty yards passing. I mean
- 15:07Speaker 1: they made they made it look like a Pop Warner
- 15:09Speaker 1: football team, like they didn't know what they were looking at.
- 15:12Speaker 1: It just totally was mind boggling to see what that
- 15:16Speaker 1: defense did in the second half of the Kansas City
- 15:17Speaker 1: Chiefs in such a big game on the road. I
- 15:20Speaker 1: mean that fan base was stunned, stunned, you know. And
- 15:24Speaker 1: uh that that was that was memorable to me. I
- 15:27Speaker 1: mean that had an impact on me because in those
- 15:30Speaker 1: in those big games, to be able to pull that
- 15:32Speaker 1: off the way they pulled it off, I was like, whoa,
- 15:35Speaker 1: that's that's that's strong right there. The game for me
- 15:38Speaker 1: was the home playoff win over the Raiders just because
- 15:41Speaker 1: it was so cathartic. We don't have to hear about
- 15:43Speaker 1: the playoff droute again now for the next hopefully you know, right,
- 15:48Speaker 1: long long time. Uh. And then moment it was Kansas
- 15:53Speaker 1: City getting stopped on the past to Tyree Hill just
- 15:56Speaker 1: before halftime of that AFC Championship game. Those are the
- 16:00Speaker 1: types of moments, unfortunately, that have gone against the Bengals
- 16:04Speaker 1: in recent history, over the last ten, twenty years, whatever
- 16:06Speaker 1: it might be. It was about time that one of
- 16:09Speaker 1: those signature moments went their way to help them get
- 16:13Speaker 1: over the hump and win a game of that magnitude.
- 16:16Speaker 1: All right, let's move to the Super Bowl when your
- 16:19Speaker 1: team loses. Everybody's second guesses, decisions that didn't work out, fans, media,
- 16:25Speaker 1: even the coaches that made those decisions. That's just the
- 16:28Speaker 1: way it goes. So here's the question. If you could
- 16:31Speaker 1: put yourself in Zach Taylor's shoes and do one thing
- 16:34Speaker 1: differently in the Super Bowl, what would that thing be?
- 16:38Speaker 1: Lap you go first, I would have blocked with as
- 16:41Speaker 1: many people as it took to protect Joe Burrow a
- 16:43Speaker 1: little bit longer. I mean, I would have gone with
- 16:46Speaker 1: seven man protections if I had to, you know, to
- 16:50Speaker 1: get that done on an every snap basis. I would
- 16:52Speaker 1: have tripled team Daron Donald if I had to, because
- 16:56Speaker 1: you know, when you look at it, it's like, okay,
- 16:58Speaker 1: well it's a numbers game. Lead more than five people
- 17:01Speaker 1: block in you know they've got they're only rushing four.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You have five block and four. Or you know a
- 17:07Speaker 1: scenario where they won five on five and got one
- 17:09Speaker 1: on ones, which was a big factor. They want five
- 17:11Speaker 1: man rush and got their one on one matchups, and
- 17:13Speaker 1: things couldn't hold up one on one. So in that case,
- 17:17Speaker 1: put more guys in there to help them, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 1: go with six, go with seven man protections. Whatever the
- 17:22Speaker 1: case may be you were running it well enough, you
- 17:25Speaker 1: would established Joe Mixon a little bit where the trickeration
- 17:29Speaker 1: play the half back touchdown pass work because they had
- 17:33Speaker 1: respected the run well enough. Where guys get sucked up
- 17:36Speaker 1: trying to stop the run. So play acts nets max protection.
- 17:40Speaker 1: A play action game is extra blockers to me. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: it's like, all right, well, you only have two or
- 17:46Speaker 1: three guys on out in a route, and you get
- 17:48Speaker 1: all these guys in coverage. Well, you only attack with
- 17:51Speaker 1: the passwords they have. You only attack one area of
- 17:53Speaker 1: the field anyway. Quarterback doesn't stand back there and survey
- 17:56Speaker 1: the whole field and oh yeah, well, I think I'll
- 17:58Speaker 1: take this one against that pass rush. All you're doing
- 18:02Speaker 1: is hoping to get enough where you can scheme something
- 18:04Speaker 1: up on one area of the field where you can
- 18:07Speaker 1: beat them, you know, and forget the other areas. They
- 18:10Speaker 1: know they don't have anybody even carb or worry about.
- 18:12Speaker 1: But if you don't have time to survey the whole
- 18:15Speaker 1: field and scan, I would have concentrated more on protecting
- 18:18Speaker 1: Burrow because you know, there were there were multiple instances
- 18:22Speaker 1: of if he had a little bit more time, just
- 18:25Speaker 1: another half a beat, including the last play of the game.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I mean, Jamar Chase, Jalen Ramsey falls down, Jamar Chase
- 18:35Speaker 1: has a stand up touchdown. If Joe Burrow has time
- 18:39Speaker 1: to look, look at him, look for him. But again,
- 18:43Speaker 1: that's what I would have done. I would have made
- 18:45Speaker 1: particularly in the second half when they were overwhelmed by
- 18:49Speaker 1: that pass rush, I would have taken. I would have
- 18:52Speaker 1: kept as many bodies as I possibly could end to
- 18:55Speaker 1: give Joe Burrow a puncher's chance to at least look
- 18:59Speaker 1: for a couple of vers, you know, not the whole field,
- 19:01Speaker 1: but just two looks, you know, and if it's not there,
- 19:05Speaker 1: broad away. If it's not there, if you have an
- 19:07Speaker 1: area that scram will get back to the line of
- 19:09Speaker 1: spermag or whatever, go ahead. But I mean to just
- 19:14Speaker 1: to take the beating at beating after beating they took
- 19:17Speaker 1: in the pass rush like that, I would have tried
- 19:19Speaker 1: to change that a little bit. What y how about you? Yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I just would have taken the last drive of overtime
- 19:25Speaker 1: in Kansas City and just try to replicate that every
- 19:28Speaker 1: time out in so far, would not have left the
- 19:33Speaker 1: would have made a vow not to leave the building
- 19:35Speaker 1: without giving you know, Joe Moore, Joe Mixing twenty three,
- 19:39Speaker 1: four twenty five, carries um and gone under center. You know,
- 19:44Speaker 1: just kind of try to take the playbook from Las
- 19:47Speaker 1: Vegas and Denver and try to muddy it up a
- 19:49Speaker 1: little bit. But that said, that's easy. The second guess
- 19:54Speaker 1: is the big brother of hindsight. Uh. And I sent
- 19:58Speaker 1: my hat to Zach Taylor. I know he's getting grilled.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I still think you ought to be Coach of the Year.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He did a hell of a job. I mean, we
- 20:05Speaker 1: can all sit back there and do it. And of
- 20:06Speaker 1: course I'll be the first one to rave about the
- 20:09Speaker 1: running game, but I thought, you know, I think Zach
- 20:12Speaker 1: should still be Coach of the Year. I'm sure Zach
- 20:15Speaker 1: is second guessing all of this stuff, just like we are.
- 20:17Speaker 1: That's what happens when you lose a game of this magnitude,
- 20:22Speaker 1: and lose it in a close fashion, with a game
- 20:24Speaker 1: winning touchdown being scored with less than a minute and
- 20:26Speaker 1: a half to go. I will zone in on a
- 20:29Speaker 1: very specific thing, final drive of the game. I'm not running.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm going to put it in Joe Burrow's hands, and
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm going to let him try to pass his way
- 20:38Speaker 1: down the field. That's me. Now, they only ran one
- 20:42Speaker 1: so I'm only really talking about one snap, But even
- 20:45Speaker 1: that one snap, when you run the ball, clock's going
- 20:49Speaker 1: to run. If you don't get it, makes it that
- 20:52Speaker 1: much more difficult. So for me, very minor thing. I
- 20:56Speaker 1: don't even have an issue with some JP Ryan being
- 20:59Speaker 1: out there. To me, I'm just I'm letting Burrow try
- 21:02Speaker 1: to get you far enough to get within the range
- 21:05Speaker 1: of Evan McPherson to tie it or possibly to take
- 21:07Speaker 1: you all the way down the field to win it. All. Right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: next topic, after the game, I think I've seen approximately
- 21:16Speaker 1: eight thousand, seven hundred and twenty six stories that have
- 21:20Speaker 1: basically followed this theme. Sure, Joe Burrow is great, but
- 21:25Speaker 1: Dan Marino never got back to a super Bowl after
- 21:27Speaker 1: going in his second year. Aaron Rodgers has only been once,
- 21:30Speaker 1: Drew Brees has only been once. It's going to be
- 21:33Speaker 1: very hard for the Bengals to make it back. And
- 21:35Speaker 1: all of that stuff is true. But here's my counter.
- 21:39Speaker 1: The Bengals were ahead of schedule. The roster should get better.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They've got cap space, they've got all of their draft picks,
- 21:47Speaker 1: most of their best young players are signed for several
- 21:50Speaker 1: more years. Now, getting better doesn't mean that you make
- 21:53Speaker 1: it back to the Super Bowl next year. You need
- 21:56Speaker 1: injury luck, you need luck in general. But am I
- 21:59Speaker 1: crazy z to be confident that the Bengals are going
- 22:03Speaker 1: to make it back to a Super Bowl sometime in
- 22:06Speaker 1: the next three or four years, assuming that Joe Burrows healthy. Yeah,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I mean, I think you know, when Marino didn't make
- 22:16Speaker 1: it back, that was that was before free agency, you know,
- 22:19Speaker 1: so you got more ways to help yourself right away
- 22:22Speaker 1: than you did back in the day. And I you know, uh,
- 22:27Speaker 1: look at how young they are. I don't know how
- 22:29Speaker 1: you know. I mean, that's that's the thing that is
- 22:31Speaker 1: striking to me. I don't think any of their key
- 22:33Speaker 1: players were are over twenty seven years old and they're
- 22:36Speaker 1: under contract, you know. So yeah, I'm with you, Dan,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I mean, and I mean, you know, either of the
- 22:45Speaker 1: head I mean, the two things you have to avoid.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It seems like a penalties and injuries. They were the
- 22:50Speaker 1: least penalized team in the league. And really their injuries
- 22:55Speaker 1: they didn't you know, compared to the last couple of years,
- 22:57Speaker 1: they had really no significant injuries. So I mean, I
- 23:01Speaker 1: I can they do that again? And I just think
- 23:06Speaker 1: I don't know what the standards gonna be, but they're
- 23:08Speaker 1: gonna have a shot every year. To mean, that's all
- 23:10Speaker 1: you want with a guy like Borrow. When they're gonna
- 23:13Speaker 1: have a shot, and if you get if you get
- 23:14Speaker 1: beat in like the first round because of a flag
- 23:18Speaker 1: or if you get beat in the second round because
- 23:21Speaker 1: you know you're maybe down to guys, I don't think
- 23:24Speaker 1: I mean just suck. I mean, I think that's part
- 23:25Speaker 1: of living. I mean, I think you're in it. So
- 23:27Speaker 1: I think they can go back to the Super Bowl
- 23:29Speaker 1: just because of Burrow. But if they don't, I don't
- 23:32Speaker 1: think that means that we'll get the Hindenburg here lap. Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I mean I think I think they can as well.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I think they have a special guy at quarterback. Even
- 23:45Speaker 1: even the pressure that he was under in the second
- 23:49Speaker 1: half of that Super Bowl, they could have won that
- 23:51Speaker 1: football game. I mean, the guy is he's a He's
- 23:55Speaker 1: a special player. There's no question about it. But you
- 23:59Speaker 1: look at the teams. I mean New England Patriots the
- 24:02Speaker 1: most obvious example of it. They go a million times
- 24:05Speaker 1: with Brady and Belichick because the rest of the division sucked.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I mean, they didn't even have to get out of
- 24:11Speaker 1: bed to win the NFC East. No competition, so you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: all year long, I mean, they're sweeping their division and
- 24:18Speaker 1: they got a leg up on it, and they're gonna
- 24:20Speaker 1: get They're gonna get a high seed. You know. They
- 24:22Speaker 1: they're gonna be Provision winners. They're gonna be one of
- 24:24Speaker 1: the four. They never were gonna be a wild card.
- 24:26Speaker 1: They're gonna get a high seat and potentially home field
- 24:30Speaker 1: advantage through the playoffs because the rest of the division
- 24:32Speaker 1: just did not compete. This division who this division is brutal.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Winning the AFC North there's a much different dynamic. I mean,
- 24:41Speaker 1: that's the first goal, and that's as tough a goal
- 24:43Speaker 1: as there is in my opinion. I mean, I really
- 24:45Speaker 1: think the Bengals from one to fifty three were about
- 24:49Speaker 1: as solid football team as there was around the league.
- 24:52Speaker 1: You know. I mean, now, the La Rams, they had
- 24:55Speaker 1: their Hollywood superstars, and they obviously made plays and won
- 24:58Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, but they're I take the Bengals roster
- 25:01Speaker 1: one to fifty three depth wise over the over the Rams,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and I'll tell you. I'll tell you another team that
- 25:06Speaker 1: has a hell of a roster one to fifty three
- 25:08Speaker 1: is to Cleveland Browns. You know, they had some injuries,
- 25:10Speaker 1: particularly a quarterback. What's the common denominator? They both they
- 25:13Speaker 1: both quarterbacks were in their rookie contracts. So you know
- 25:16Speaker 1: they can they can really build a roster, you know.
- 25:18Speaker 1: And so there's a window there for the Bengals and uh,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you know Baltimore, the Baltimore Ravens finis the year with
- 25:26Speaker 1: twenty four guys on injury reserve, ten starters on injury reserve.
- 25:31Speaker 1: That football team. If they come back healthy and stay healthy,
- 25:34Speaker 1: that's the son of a gun too. I mean, you're
- 25:36Speaker 1: and if Pittsburgh gets a quarterback, we know what they
- 25:39Speaker 1: have defensively, we know they got a running game. They're
- 25:42Speaker 1: gonna have to work on their offensive line like the Bengals,
- 25:44Speaker 1: but I mean they've got some pieces now. So I mean,
- 25:48Speaker 1: the AFC North is top a tough division. You know,
- 25:53Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, you know, Cake walks through the regular season
- 25:56Speaker 1: in the NFC, just Cake walks through it, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 1: when he was been with Green Bay. That's why one
- 26:02Speaker 1: reason I think he might consider it is, man, I
- 26:05Speaker 1: go somewhere else. I go to Denver in the SEU
- 26:07Speaker 1: West as opposed to staying competing in the NSC North.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I mean, man, so I think I think those are
- 26:15Speaker 1: all all big factors. But yeah, I mean can they
- 26:18Speaker 1: can they compete and can they win the division? Eh? Yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 1: but they have to. This was the perfect storm. They
- 26:25Speaker 1: stayed relatively healthy, other teams didn't in the division, and
- 26:29Speaker 1: they took full advantage of it, and then they started
- 26:31Speaker 1: playing their best football at the most opportune time in
- 26:35Speaker 1: the playoffs, particularly defensively. I mean they peaked defensively at
- 26:39Speaker 1: the absolute best time. So you know when you have it,
- 26:42Speaker 1: when you have a magical season like this one, and
- 26:45Speaker 1: it was right there for the grab and you just
- 26:46Speaker 1: couldn't quite grab hold of it. Man, that's top. That's
- 26:49Speaker 1: what's frustrating, because man, they got so close to finishing
- 26:53Speaker 1: it off and it was just they could. They could
- 26:55Speaker 1: have finished the perfect storm with it with a big ride. Man,
- 26:58Speaker 1: there's no question about it. But can it be repeated? Yeah,
- 27:02Speaker 1: it can be. Is it gonna be easy? Hell no,
- 27:05Speaker 1: not North. It ain't gonna be easy, There's no doubt
- 27:08Speaker 1: about it. So I assume Joe Burrow would be the
- 27:10Speaker 1: team MVP if all of us had to vote on that.
- 27:14Speaker 1: So here's my next question, who are your top three? None,
- 27:19Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, Team MVPs LAP you go first. You know,
- 27:25Speaker 1: I'd have to say, Um, Joe Mixon for for what
- 27:30Speaker 1: he what he provides, not just from a physicality standpoint,
- 27:34Speaker 1: in terms of you know, when Joe Mixon gets it gone,
- 27:37Speaker 1: When Joe Mixon makes a big play, he lifts the
- 27:40Speaker 1: entire football team, he lifts the entire you know, fan base.
- 27:44Speaker 1: When he's at home. Um, he's he's kind of a
- 27:48Speaker 1: lightning rod that way, you know, So I'd have to
- 27:51Speaker 1: I'd have to say that, you know that Joe's up there.
- 27:55Speaker 1: You know, obviously it's so so much easier to pick
- 27:59Speaker 1: other guys offensively. Um, you know, the obvious connection between
- 28:04Speaker 1: you know, Burrow and Chase is you know, that's MVP
- 28:07Speaker 1: A like two. But I mean, I think Joe gives, uh,
- 28:11Speaker 1: you know what, what he provides his teammates in the
- 28:14Speaker 1: locker room and the intangibles, the leadership part of it.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I'd uh, I'd have to. I'd have to lean on
- 28:21Speaker 1: on Joe as being an extremely important player to the
- 28:24Speaker 1: success of the Cincinnati Bengals, Let's put it that way,
- 28:26Speaker 1: on and off the field, which I couldn't couldn't agree
- 28:32Speaker 1: more about mixing lap I endorse everything you say about
- 28:36Speaker 1: that he's on and off the field. I think I
- 28:40Speaker 1: circled over time against Kansas City. He was just absolutely huge,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and he was huge in key parts. Uh, you know,
- 28:47Speaker 1: they didn't give him the ball enough to string together
- 28:50Speaker 1: some dominant performances that you would think of. But you know,
- 28:53Speaker 1: big red zone touchdown in Tennessee, you know, um and
- 28:57Speaker 1: and and and carrying him on their back. And Vegas
- 29:00Speaker 1: and to me, the biggest game, the biggest regular season
- 29:02Speaker 1: game of the year, that win in Vegas coming out
- 29:05Speaker 1: of the bye. You know, it was huge. So yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm with you. I'm mixing all the way the other two.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think what Jodie gave us three I would I
- 29:12Speaker 1: would obviously go with Chase, and I think I go
- 29:14Speaker 1: with Hendrickson on defense. I think Hendrickson was You just can't,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I mean, well, fourteen sacks, I mean that's just you know,
- 29:24Speaker 1: that's t J watsh. You know, you just can't. You
- 29:28Speaker 1: can't write that off how important that is. I would
- 29:32Speaker 1: go Chase. It's hard to go against mixing. He's the
- 29:35Speaker 1: heart and soul in many ways of the entire roster.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But Chase just transformed the offense so much. I mean
- 29:44Speaker 1: NFL networked at a top ten Bengals Plays of the
- 29:47Speaker 1: Year kind of thing a week or two ago, and
- 29:49Speaker 1: like the first six were Chase and they were just
- 29:52Speaker 1: such big momentum swinging plays. Those plays early in the year,
- 29:56Speaker 1: at the end of the half and every game that
- 29:58Speaker 1: just swung the game in the Bengals favor. So I'd
- 30:01Speaker 1: have to say Chase. Defensively, I kind of fall on
- 30:04Speaker 1: Mike Hilton, another heart and soul kind of guy. I
- 30:06Speaker 1: thought his leadership was off the charts. The kind of
- 30:11Speaker 1: accountability he brought to that position group I thought was incredible.
- 30:15Speaker 1: And I got to throw an Evan McPherson. I know
- 30:17Speaker 1: he's a kicker, it's hard to include him in an
- 30:19Speaker 1: MVP discussion, but the fact that the Bengals needed to
- 30:23Speaker 1: gain ten fewer yards on every drive to get points
- 30:27Speaker 1: because of his range, and then you throw in the
- 30:30Speaker 1: clutch factor with five walk offs during the course of
- 30:32Speaker 1: the year. If a kicker can be mentioned, is one
- 30:35Speaker 1: of your top three most valuable players, then he deserved
- 30:38Speaker 1: being mentioned. Yeah, I agree, and I'll tell you Jill
- 30:42Speaker 1: Mixon and Jamar Chase are the perfect example of all right,
- 30:46Speaker 1: a running back that's going to pound and do the
- 30:49Speaker 1: blue collar dirty be physical, pound you make you load
- 30:52Speaker 1: the box up, and then Chase kills you all can't
- 30:55Speaker 1: load the box up. Gotta go defend Chase. Now, Joe
- 30:58Speaker 1: Hurtschie and it's like pick your always. Do you want
- 31:00Speaker 1: to die quickly? Do you want to die slowly? You're
- 31:02Speaker 1: gonna die somehow? Which way do you want to die?
- 31:04Speaker 1: You know? It's one of those kinds of things. So
- 31:08Speaker 1: those guys are like the perfect cop kill of that
- 31:11Speaker 1: type thing. And you know, obviously Chase is the guy
- 31:14Speaker 1: that's going to make the big explosives. But if it's
- 31:16Speaker 1: not for Joe Mixon pounding away, you know, and making
- 31:20Speaker 1: that front step, that making defensive coordinators change the box,
- 31:25Speaker 1: and then now that trickles down to coverage changes and
- 31:28Speaker 1: more holes in the secondary. The Chase to take example
- 31:31Speaker 1: advantage of. I mean, that's a one two punch that's
- 31:34Speaker 1: as good as the original league in that regard. There's
- 31:36Speaker 1: no question. I remember when they took a Chase. I
- 31:38Speaker 1: talked to Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator, and he said,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, we just helped our running game and our
- 31:43Speaker 1: offensive line because now they can't put they can't put
- 31:47Speaker 1: eight or seven guys in the box, you know, so
- 31:50Speaker 1: we just you know, now these guys are gonna have
- 31:52Speaker 1: to you guys are gonna have to back up, you know.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So I thought that was kind of interesting that they
- 31:56Speaker 1: felt like they were, you know, they were helping mixing
- 31:59Speaker 1: by drafting a left tackle, but by drafting an explosive
- 32:02Speaker 1: wide receiver. And guys, I'll tell you what the Chase
- 32:06Speaker 1: Ramsey battle, Chase landslide, no context, Chase overpowered and physically
- 32:12Speaker 1: the big physical Jalen Ramsey who intimidates wide receivers. Chase
- 32:17Speaker 1: treated him like his little brother, throwing t Higgins, tossing
- 32:21Speaker 1: him aside like a rag doll as well. Yeah, by
- 32:23Speaker 1: the face mask detail details exactly. We're not going to
- 32:30Speaker 1: let the facts get in the way of a good story.
- 32:33Speaker 1: So I pointed the Lap signal into the Cincinnati sky.
- 32:36Speaker 1: This week, we have a bunch of asked Lap questions,
- 32:39Speaker 1: or in this case, ask Lap, Butch and Dan questions.
- 32:43Speaker 1: So I'm going to specifically start with one that was
- 32:48Speaker 1: intended for Lap. And these are actually two separate questions,
- 32:51Speaker 1: one from somebody named John, another question from a guy
- 32:53Speaker 1: named Brian. John asked should the Bengals consider playing Jonah
- 32:58Speaker 1: Williams at a different position? Brian asked, Lap, do you
- 33:02Speaker 1: still think Jonah williams best spot might be center? So
- 33:06Speaker 1: what do you think on that topic in general, the
- 33:09Speaker 1: notion of moving Jonah Williams from left tackle and possibly
- 33:12Speaker 1: even having him wind up some day at center. Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 1: I mean I think he could be a good center.
- 33:17Speaker 1: You know. I thought that from jump Street. I thought
- 33:19Speaker 1: that he had all the all the physical and mental
- 33:23Speaker 1: qualities and capabilities that are necessary to play that position.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You know really well. But I do want to I
- 33:29Speaker 1: do want to take a second here to say, Trey
- 33:32Speaker 1: Hopkins hell of a job, man. I mean, you talk
- 33:35Speaker 1: about coming back in a short period of time from
- 33:39Speaker 1: a reconstructed ACL are you kidding me? And to play
- 33:43Speaker 1: suck it up and play like you played. That's not
- 33:45Speaker 1: easy to do. It's not easy to do, believe me.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And uh, and he did it, and he's a grinder, man.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I got a lot of respect for what Trey Hopkins
- 33:55Speaker 1: did and how he did it. It's and that is
- 33:57Speaker 1: not an easy accomplishment. And he pulled it off and
- 34:02Speaker 1: tap tip my cap to him. But my mindset on
- 34:06Speaker 1: this is depending on what they get in free agency
- 34:09Speaker 1: and in the draft, and you don't have to go
- 34:11Speaker 1: very far to find a model. Last year, the Kansas
- 34:14Speaker 1: City Chiefs, their offensive line get taken apart in the
- 34:16Speaker 1: Super Bowl, and Patrick Mahomes was serpentine and backwards the
- 34:20Speaker 1: whole day, running around, you know, like a chicken with
- 34:23Speaker 1: his head cut off, and having to make fifty yard
- 34:25Speaker 1: throws just to get the ball back to the line
- 34:27Speaker 1: of scrimmages. Seemed like m and so they said, all right,
- 34:31Speaker 1: we're going to rebuild. They signed to in free agency,
- 34:33Speaker 1: and they drafted too, and all of them end up starting.
- 34:36Speaker 1: You know, they got they got Orlando Brown and Tuning
- 34:40Speaker 1: at garden tackle, and they got Humphrey and they got
- 34:42Speaker 1: another guard and as rookies, and that was four out
- 34:45Speaker 1: of their five guys. In my mind, with the offensive
- 34:48Speaker 1: line right now, depending on what happens in free agency
- 34:52Speaker 1: and the draft, I just I put everybody in a
- 34:56Speaker 1: bag and I say, all right, who am my five
- 34:58Speaker 1: best blindmen and where can I put them? To get
- 35:01Speaker 1: my five best lineman on the football field. Identity in
- 35:05Speaker 1: my opinion is still he's a better tackle. Than a
- 35:07Speaker 1: guard because he has athleticism, he's got feet. He didn't
- 35:11Speaker 1: have enough leading his ass in my opinion to play guard.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I mean he got he got overpowered by bull rushers. Inside.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I think he's a little bit better on the edge potentially,
- 35:20Speaker 1: So you know, and Joe, okay, maybe take a look
- 35:23Speaker 1: at Joan at center depending on what you yet, who
- 35:26Speaker 1: you're going to get in free agency, if you can
- 35:28Speaker 1: get a guarden tackling free agency like they did Kansas
- 35:30Speaker 1: City did, and then draft a center and a guard
- 35:33Speaker 1: or you know, draft to guard whatever it is, you know,
- 35:36Speaker 1: and say, Okay, it's a it's a competition. Nobody has
- 35:41Speaker 1: a job, and nobody should come back after this offseason
- 35:44Speaker 1: thinking they have a starting job. You got to come
- 35:47Speaker 1: back fighting your tail off just to get a starting
- 35:51Speaker 1: position with the Cincinnati Bengals offensive line. And may the
- 35:55Speaker 1: best man win. And guys may be tried in different positions,
- 35:59Speaker 1: you know. Whoever, my five best guys are that I see,
- 36:03Speaker 1: you know, kind of percolat and formulating out of that competition,
- 36:07Speaker 1: find spots from to play. And there may be guys
- 36:11Speaker 1: playing different positions than they played last year. There maybe
- 36:15Speaker 1: four out of the five guys, maybe new guys, just
- 36:18Speaker 1: like what happened with the Kansas City Chiefs. Don't know.
- 36:21Speaker 1: All I know is it's got to be open season.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Competition wise, get as many bodies as you can, good
- 36:28Speaker 1: bodies in there to compete as you possibly can. The
- 36:32Speaker 1: best man wins our Next question comes from Stephen. But
- 36:37Speaker 1: you can tackle this. Do the Bengals need to draft
- 36:41Speaker 1: another receiver with real speed? I like Tred Taylor, but
- 36:45Speaker 1: assuming Odd and Tape moves on, there is no real depth.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Am I right? That's Steven's question. Yeah, he's right. I
- 36:53Speaker 1: mean they were lucky this year. There are three guys
- 36:56Speaker 1: didn't get hurt. I mean, I think they only lost
- 36:58Speaker 1: out of three guys. Out of a potential fifty one games,
- 37:02Speaker 1: they got forty nine. They only lost two Higgins for two.
- 37:04Speaker 1: They're lucky. So yeah, they got to finger takes gone.
- 37:08Speaker 1: They're gonna have to draft somebody. I've looked, probably the
- 37:11Speaker 1: middle of the draft. Probably, I think. I don't think
- 37:14Speaker 1: I can't see him going out in free agency, but
- 37:16Speaker 1: I could see them spend an earth a third or
- 37:19Speaker 1: a fourth for a guy they think they can come
- 37:21Speaker 1: in and play. Next question, this is a combined question.
- 37:26Speaker 1: From our friend Austin Elmore and also somebody named Chris Lap.
- 37:30Speaker 1: You can tackle this. Why do you think the Bengals
- 37:32Speaker 1: have struggled with the draft and the development of offensive linemen. Yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I can say that they haven't for the entire history
- 37:42Speaker 1: of the franchise. They got the best left tackle that
- 37:45Speaker 1: has ever played, and he's in the Hall of Fame,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and the best right tackle amongst the best ever in
- 37:52Speaker 1: the history of the National Football League, and he'll be
- 37:55Speaker 1: in the Hall of Fame shortly Williamerson. It's not like
- 37:58Speaker 1: they've never been able to uncover and develop, you know,
- 38:02Speaker 1: talent Max Montoya the guard position. I mean, there's there's
- 38:07Speaker 1: a lot of instances that you can you can go
- 38:09Speaker 1: back to, but that's going back aways obviously, and we're
- 38:12Speaker 1: talking about this football team. I know, people gonna throw
- 38:16Speaker 1: Cedric away. He you know out there. Billy Price obviously
- 38:21Speaker 1: didn't work out, and at least they got some value
- 38:23Speaker 1: there with b J Hill with the Billy Price saying
- 38:26Speaker 1: they have a seventh round draft pick from the New
- 38:28Speaker 1: York Giants in this year's draft at eight picks and
- 38:31Speaker 1: the extra pick is as a result of that trade.
- 38:34Speaker 1: So it's kind of the gift that keeps on given.
- 38:36Speaker 1: But um yeah, hopefully they they identify the people they
- 38:41Speaker 1: identify in the draft, pan out and produce. But you know,
- 38:46Speaker 1: you look, you look at it. It's not like they
- 38:48Speaker 1: didn't try last year, second fourth and sixth round. And
- 38:52Speaker 1: I would not give up on any of them in
- 38:55Speaker 1: the second, fourth and sixth round right now. It's you know, you,
- 38:59Speaker 1: I remember what it's like to be a rookie offensive
- 39:01Speaker 1: lineman and man, you don't know what you don't know.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You're going against grown men. You're twenty two, twenty three
- 39:08Speaker 1: years old, and you're playing against guys you know, in
- 39:10Speaker 1: a lot of cases ten years older than you, that
- 39:12Speaker 1: have old man strength and old man knowledge, and sometimes
- 39:16Speaker 1: it takes a little a little bit to make an adjustment.
- 39:18Speaker 1: And you know, I really I think I think Deante
- 39:23Speaker 1: Smith would have made some noise this year if he
- 39:25Speaker 1: stayed healthy. I think I think that kid has has
- 39:29Speaker 1: some some something to him, some fiber to him, and
- 39:33Speaker 1: I think, you know, work with him Hill. It was
- 39:36Speaker 1: a lot of times it was too big for him
- 39:38Speaker 1: as a rookie lineman. That doesn't mean it's always going
- 39:40Speaker 1: to be too big for him. From a mental standpoint,
- 39:43Speaker 1: you get overwhelmed mentally a little bit. But he's got
- 39:46Speaker 1: some physical traits. Now, so the guy the guys they
- 39:49Speaker 1: drafted in those three rounds, and then Jackson Carmen just
- 39:52Speaker 1: has to, you know, make football his number one priority
- 39:56Speaker 1: and trust his technique more than he does. He won
- 39:59Speaker 1: one player he'll show like, wow, that's that's impressive, and
- 40:02Speaker 1: then the next place, what the hell was that? You know,
- 40:05Speaker 1: So he's he's all over the board. Um, he needs
- 40:08Speaker 1: to be more consistent trusting his technique and football has
- 40:12Speaker 1: to become, you know, his one and only. He's got
- 40:14Speaker 1: a lot of interest. Football has to be the paramount interest.
- 40:18Speaker 1: So I wouldn't you know, I wouldn't give up on
- 40:22Speaker 1: developing those three guys. I was, okay if by asking stuff,
- 40:26Speaker 1: I mean needing to ask you this for for a
- 40:28Speaker 1: while and I'm just now this discussion has spurred it.
- 40:32Speaker 1: But do you think it's hotter in the last three,
- 40:35Speaker 1: four or five years? Is it hot to for an
- 40:38Speaker 1: offensive lineman? They come into the league now, maybe more
- 40:42Speaker 1: so than earlier than maybe ten years ago, just because
- 40:45Speaker 1: of the style they play in college. They're playing seven
- 40:48Speaker 1: on seven in college, and it just seems like the lineman.
- 40:51Speaker 1: It's just it's just seems like a different game now
- 40:53Speaker 1: when they come up here. I was wondering about that.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Do you think it takes longer now to get entrenched? Yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I mean I don't think that, uh necessarily in um
- 41:03Speaker 1: in college football that they teach great pass protection technique,
- 41:07Speaker 1: you know. I mean it's it's I look at a
- 41:10Speaker 1: lot of offensive linemen and the way they they're past protecting,
- 41:13Speaker 1: what they're doing, it's it's it's not going to translate
- 41:16Speaker 1: very well in the National Football League. But I'll tell
- 41:19Speaker 1: you haven't played in an era where you couldn't use
- 41:23Speaker 1: your hands and then you know, you have to keep
- 41:25Speaker 1: your hands under your chest, and you were just a
- 41:27Speaker 1: punching bag. I mean they could head slap that, they
- 41:29Speaker 1: could do anything they wanted to you, and you couldn't
- 41:31Speaker 1: even defend yourself. Pass protection past protection was like miserable.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I mean that's why you only threw a twenty twenty
- 41:38Speaker 1: five times a game, because it was like you couldn't
- 41:42Speaker 1: you couldn't keep these great athletes away from your quarterback
- 41:45Speaker 1: long enough. I mean, you are a human punching bag,
- 41:47Speaker 1: you know, for treating give the ground grudgingly and just
- 41:49Speaker 1: getting smacked around, and all you wanted to do is run,
- 41:52Speaker 1: block and knock people off the line of scrimmage. And
- 41:54Speaker 1: if you've gotten third and eight, it was like, oh god,
- 41:57Speaker 1: you know, here we go. It's going to be a
- 41:59Speaker 1: double head slap. Both my ears are going to be ringing,
- 42:01Speaker 1: you know, and everything else. So it's it's much it's
- 42:05Speaker 1: a much different game now. And when they liberalized, it
- 42:08Speaker 1: was like, oh my gosh. I mean, it's like you
- 42:10Speaker 1: let out of prison when I was able to extend
- 42:13Speaker 1: your hands and arms and was like, oh man, this
- 42:14Speaker 1: is unbelievable. So I mean, there's there's yin and yang,
- 42:18Speaker 1: there's given take to it. But I mean, obviously the
- 42:20Speaker 1: athletes are getting bigger, faster, better or stronger all that stuff.
- 42:25Speaker 1: But I think it's just all I'm not sure at
- 42:29Speaker 1: the collegiate level that the technique that's being taught the
- 42:34Speaker 1: offensive linement from a past protection standpoint, and I don't
- 42:37Speaker 1: think they necessarily. All they say is, you know, keep them,
- 42:39Speaker 1: keep them occupied for a couple of seconds. Guys, that's
- 42:41Speaker 1: all we need. And I know you need a little
- 42:43Speaker 1: bit more than that. In the National Football League, you know, um,
- 42:46Speaker 1: so yeah, I think, uh, there's still an adjustment, still
- 42:52Speaker 1: a big time adjustment coming from college football and National
- 42:54Speaker 1: Football League. For that reason, I think our next question
- 42:58Speaker 1: comes from a Woogie the Goats. How likely is it
- 43:02Speaker 1: that the Bengals extend Eli Apple? What do you think?
- 43:05Speaker 1: But I think it's I think it's a possibility. I
- 43:09Speaker 1: think they gotta make some Hay in some other places first.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I think they you know, I think they like what
- 43:15Speaker 1: he did. I mean, I I know he's getting h
- 43:19Speaker 1: he's getting grilled for what happened in the super Bowl.
- 43:21Speaker 1: But I mean, Giez, you know, I mean, I I
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know, just think if you didn't have him, you know,
- 43:26Speaker 1: I mean, I think he was a guy that really
- 43:28Speaker 1: really helped them. Clearly corners a position that they that
- 43:32Speaker 1: they have to look at. But yeah, I think they'll
- 43:35Speaker 1: take a look at bringing him back. But you know,
- 43:39Speaker 1: I think they gotta make I think they got to
- 43:40Speaker 1: make Hay in some other places first, and then they'll
- 43:42Speaker 1: look at that safe to assume that Trey Waynes as
- 43:45Speaker 1: a cap casualty, yeah, you'd have to think. So, I
- 43:47Speaker 1: don't know, Lapp, what do you think I'm I'm I'm
- 43:49Speaker 1: thinking that that's that's a big number for a guy
- 43:52Speaker 1: that I think what he played. How many snaps did
- 43:54Speaker 1: he play in his two years? Two hundred and fifty? Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: I mean the there's a lot, as the old saying goes,
- 44:01Speaker 1: a lot of abilities are necessary in the biggest availability,
- 44:04Speaker 1: and he certainly wasn't, you know. So Uh the fact
- 44:08Speaker 1: that that he didn't, it just didn't pan out for
- 44:11Speaker 1: him physically. Uh. And it's sad because I think I
- 44:14Speaker 1: think if he'd stayed healthy, he could have contributed. He
- 44:18Speaker 1: could have contributed pretty darn well. I mean, they paid
- 44:20Speaker 1: him that money for a reason, and it was a
- 44:22Speaker 1: good reason. I agree with you with respect to Apple,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think I think it's going to be.
- 44:28Speaker 1: If he's looking to hit the lottery, think I'll resign him.
- 44:31Speaker 1: But if he's reasonable, you gotta have somebody. You got
- 44:34Speaker 1: have bodies back there who the hell they got, you know?
- 44:36Speaker 1: I mean, if if if one becomes a cap casually
- 44:39Speaker 1: you gotta you gotta sign the other one until at
- 44:41Speaker 1: least you go into um, you know, the draft, or
- 44:44Speaker 1: if you don't get anybody else in free agency, you
- 44:46Speaker 1: have to. But I think it has to be a
- 44:48Speaker 1: reasonable deal for him to be resigned. I don't think
- 44:51Speaker 1: you know, his his his agent, his people. Can you know,
- 44:55Speaker 1: can can go to the Bengals trying to break the bank.
- 44:57Speaker 1: So I agree, I think, you know, I I think
- 45:00Speaker 1: the Beans will approach free its just like they always have.
- 45:02Speaker 1: They're gonna sign the guys their own that they feel like,
- 45:06Speaker 1: you know, they need to bring back and keep the
- 45:08Speaker 1: continuity and all that sort of thing. That's what they're
- 45:10Speaker 1: going to attack first and foremost. And he's one of them.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Let me follow up with that lap what happens with
- 45:16Speaker 1: Jesse Bates in your opinion? You know, he may get
- 45:19Speaker 1: tagged initially, but that one's going to be interesting because
- 45:25Speaker 1: obviously during the regular season, I think you know, he'll
- 45:29Speaker 1: he'll he'll admit that he didn't play up to his standard,
- 45:33Speaker 1: you know, the standard the heat stats for himself. I
- 45:36Speaker 1: think he kind of got in his head a little bit.
- 45:39Speaker 1: But the playoffs, down the stretch, down the stretch when
- 45:44Speaker 1: they needed them, and in the playoffs he might have
- 45:46Speaker 1: been he might have been defensive MVP, you know, in
- 45:49Speaker 1: the playoffs and down the stretch of the regular season,
- 45:52Speaker 1: nobody played any better than him. And I'm hearing all
- 45:55Speaker 1: kinds of defensive backs, former safety's, former defensive back on
- 46:01Speaker 1: these shows, you know, doing wrap ups of the Super
- 46:03Speaker 1: Bowls and then the season in general. The playoffs all
- 46:07Speaker 1: raven about Justin Bates, you know, and how well he played.
- 46:10Speaker 1: So M yeah, I think I think eventually, hopefully they
- 46:16Speaker 1: can get it done. But it wouldn't be surprised. I
- 46:19Speaker 1: wouldn't be shocked to see him tagged. And you know,
- 46:22Speaker 1: you can always remove it to sign him and remove
- 46:24Speaker 1: it to allow him to become a free agent. But
- 46:27Speaker 1: I think wouldn't shock me to see him tag at
- 46:30Speaker 1: some point here. Next question comes from Jake. What you
- 46:34Speaker 1: can tackle this one? Who would be the number one
- 46:37Speaker 1: free agent you would sign if you were the GM.
- 46:40Speaker 1: We can all take a run at this question. Who
- 46:41Speaker 1: would be your number one free agent of choice? That's
- 46:44Speaker 1: a good one. I mean, I guess the kid from
- 46:47Speaker 1: the Orleans, but the left tackle from the Walleans. But
- 46:51Speaker 1: he's gonna be twenty million a year, so I don't know.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I thank him. I think I might go,
- 46:55Speaker 1: you know, give him the price. I don't think there's
- 46:58Speaker 1: you know, I think they're too best options are to
- 47:02Speaker 1: resign Hill and Hill and Ogan Joby, And if I
- 47:05Speaker 1: was gonna go, if I was going to get a
- 47:06Speaker 1: player in free agency, I might go like the Connor
- 47:08Speaker 1: Williams route from Dallas. A strong you know, a good
- 47:14Speaker 1: interior player that doesn't break the bank, that you know
- 47:16Speaker 1: that's going to come in and play still young, you know,
- 47:18Speaker 1: like twenty five until May, right right, you know, I
- 47:22Speaker 1: could you know Jank you know, uh, the center in Tampa.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Jensen is interesting, but he's gonna be thirty one years
- 47:29Speaker 1: you know, he's gonna be thirty one years old, right,
- 47:30Speaker 1: you know, I don't I don't know. Uh. I think
- 47:32Speaker 1: I'd rather go with a nice you know, kind of
- 47:34Speaker 1: what they did last year. They got those guys in
- 47:36Speaker 1: the second contracts, you know, fresh twenty five, twenty six.
- 47:40Speaker 1: If you get a guide like that, like Williams, I
- 47:43Speaker 1: think that's what I do. All right, Lap, you've got
- 47:46Speaker 1: the unlimited check book? Who are you signing? I'm limited
- 47:51Speaker 1: check book? An Armstead. I trought them all, but you
- 47:58Speaker 1: know I could see Connor Williams. The only thing about
- 48:02Speaker 1: him is helly at thirteen penalties. Last year, Dallas led
- 48:04Speaker 1: the National Football League and penalties he had thirteen of them.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Man that's that's a that's a that's a penalty machine
- 48:11Speaker 1: right there. He's got to, you know, do a better
- 48:13Speaker 1: job with keeping his hands inside the framework of a body.
- 48:16Speaker 1: And that's not the only thing. It wasn't just holding penalties.
- 48:19Speaker 1: He had some pre snap issues and things of that nature.
- 48:22Speaker 1: That so that one, you know, would be a little
- 48:24Speaker 1: bit of concern to me. But again, like you guys
- 48:28Speaker 1: are saying, he's in a price range that's reasonable. But
- 48:32Speaker 1: a guy who's he's not his spring chicken anymore either.
- 48:36Speaker 1: But this kid played at Anderson High School, he went
- 48:39Speaker 1: to Ohio State, and he was an undrafted player, going
- 48:43Speaker 1: to the National Football League to Carolina, made the Pro Bowl,
- 48:47Speaker 1: made All Pro. Now he's finishing up with the Jaguars.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Andrew Norwell is a guy that I think would be
- 48:54Speaker 1: in a situation, boy, you come back, you know, like
- 48:57Speaker 1: the State of Ohio deal Joe Joel Burrow, Sam Hubbard,
- 49:02Speaker 1: Andrew Norwell. Bring another guy that played his height, you know,
- 49:06Speaker 1: Kevin Hubert. Another guy that played his high school in
- 49:08Speaker 1: college football here in the state of Ohio and let
- 49:11Speaker 1: him have his last contract here. He's he's a guy
- 49:15Speaker 1: that could solidify, you know, helps solidify things inside. He
- 49:18Speaker 1: wouldn't cost a fortune. He got a big He got
- 49:20Speaker 1: a huge deal going from Carolina to Jacksonville. He was
- 49:24Speaker 1: the highest paid lineman you know if I think it
- 49:26Speaker 1: was five years, sixty six million bucks, something like that.
- 49:29Speaker 1: But you're not going to get any kind of deal
- 49:31Speaker 1: like that now. I think it would be a reasonable
- 49:33Speaker 1: situation if he's still playing at a high enough level.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I think there are a lot of a lot of
- 49:38Speaker 1: factors there. And I know, you know, my understanding is
- 49:41Speaker 1: his uh you know, his parents are a little bit
- 49:46Speaker 1: not in great health, and for him to be close
- 49:48Speaker 1: by would be a factor. But who knows, who knows
- 49:51Speaker 1: if all those things can be worked out, But that
- 49:54Speaker 1: that guy would be somebody that i'd uh, you know,
- 49:57Speaker 1: i'd potentially target. And I don't I don't know if
- 50:00Speaker 1: uh you know, if dolls make sense. I do know
- 50:03Speaker 1: that he's got an agent that can be tough to
- 50:06Speaker 1: deal with. Through Rosenhouse, There's no no doubt about that.
- 50:09Speaker 1: He can be difficult. Thing about Drew though, they'll make
- 50:12Speaker 1: a deal. They'll make a deal, you know. I kind
- 50:16Speaker 1: of the thing about Rosenhouses. You know, he's tough, But
- 50:22Speaker 1: if he sees the fit. If he sees the fit
- 50:25Speaker 1: with Cincinnati and Nowell in the club, they'll make it happen.
- 50:30Speaker 1: These other guys will, you know, they'll go on vacation,
- 50:32Speaker 1: or they'll serve, or they'll he won't hear from him,
- 50:34Speaker 1: but you know, Drew's working the phones. So my free
- 50:36Speaker 1: agent of choice is Brandon Schurf and hear me out here,
- 50:40Speaker 1: hear me out here. So each of the last couple
- 50:43Speaker 1: of years, obviously the Bengals have spent a ton of
- 50:45Speaker 1: money in free agency, and they still, when possible, try
- 50:49Speaker 1: to find that guy who might be a little bit
- 50:52Speaker 1: less expensive, but they see something in that person that
- 50:56Speaker 1: they think, all right, we can get something out of
- 50:58Speaker 1: this guy that, for whatever reason and hasn't happened yet
- 51:01Speaker 1: should obey. A Woogier the perfect example of that. One
- 51:04Speaker 1: of the best corners in the NFL, and relatively speaking,
- 51:08Speaker 1: they got him at a bargain basement price. But they've
- 51:11Speaker 1: also spent big on a guy each of the last
- 51:14Speaker 1: two years. They made Dj Reader the highest paid nose
- 51:17Speaker 1: tackle in the NFL. When they got that deal done,
- 51:20Speaker 1: they made Trey Hendrickson one of the highest paid edge
- 51:23Speaker 1: rusher's not at the very top of the scale, but
- 51:26Speaker 1: obviously making a ton of money. So for me, Brandon
- 51:29Speaker 1: Shurf can be that guy this year. Now he's a guard,
- 51:33Speaker 1: he's not a tackle, so he's not going to make
- 51:35Speaker 1: twenty million dollars a year. He might make fifteen, sixteen, seventeen,
- 51:40Speaker 1: I don't know, something like that. But he's a five
- 51:42Speaker 1: time pro bowler, he's thirty years old, tremendous player. Let's
- 51:46Speaker 1: get one of the very best in the league into
- 51:49Speaker 1: the middle of that offensive line. And you know, I
- 51:52Speaker 1: hate to take up a big chunk of my available
- 51:55Speaker 1: cap dollars on one guy, but if he can make
- 51:58Speaker 1: that much of a difference, I'm willing to I'm willing
- 52:01Speaker 1: to pay it. Now that people, you probably prevent you
- 52:05Speaker 1: from keeping both Ogan joeb By and b J. Hill.
- 52:09Speaker 1: You probably have to pick one or the other or
- 52:12Speaker 1: moves like that. But that's that's where I'm feeling. As
- 52:15Speaker 1: of February the twenty third, I was gonna say he
- 52:19Speaker 1: didn't give up a sack last year. He didn't give
- 52:22Speaker 1: up one, So I mean, he's he's definitely the guy.
- 52:24Speaker 1: But you're right, Dan, he's going to be He'll be
- 52:27Speaker 1: a you know, fifty million dollars a year fifty five
- 52:30Speaker 1: million dollars, not a year fifty five million dollar package,
- 52:33Speaker 1: three years whatever. Yeah, and the one difference from this
- 52:37Speaker 1: year to those two other years when they paid a guy,
- 52:40Speaker 1: the guy they've already paid is going to be Bates
- 52:42Speaker 1: at thirteen million if they tag him. Yeah, right, that
- 52:45Speaker 1: might be the chunk. Yep, all true, all true, but
- 52:50Speaker 1: a man can dream, all right. Our next question. Our
- 52:53Speaker 1: next question comes from Greg. I'll send this one a
- 52:57Speaker 1: you Lap. Would you trade the angles number one draft
- 53:01Speaker 1: pick this year for Laramie Tunsil of the Texans? There
- 53:06Speaker 1: would there would be uh, I'd be I'd be intrigued potentially,
- 53:12Speaker 1: But you know, because it's it's obviously the thirty first
- 53:17Speaker 1: pick in the in the in the first round, I
- 53:19Speaker 1: wonder if they would accept the trade. It would probably
- 53:22Speaker 1: take more than that, quite honestly, that's what I'm thinking.
- 53:25Speaker 1: You know, I'm not sure that I would. That's basically
- 53:28Speaker 1: a high two, you know, late one, high two or whatever.
- 53:30Speaker 1: I mean. I think I think you'd have to sweeten
- 53:32Speaker 1: the pot a little bit. I mean, if if we're
- 53:34Speaker 1: just that, i'd you know, i'd have to be that'd
- 53:37Speaker 1: be pretty tempting to do. Yeah, but I just I
- 53:40Speaker 1: don't see that. Uh. You know, a trade has to
- 53:43Speaker 1: satisfy both parties, and I'm not sure that that would necessarily.
- 53:48Speaker 1: I think he makes you know, I think he makes
- 53:50Speaker 1: eighteen milk for two more years. Yeah, so you give
- 53:54Speaker 1: him eighteen milk per year. I mean it's like eighteen
- 53:57Speaker 1: milk per year, right, correct? Yeah? I mean so now
- 54:00Speaker 1: you're now you're knocking yourself out of Ogan Jovian Maybe Hill,
- 54:04Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, twenty seven years old, two time
- 54:08Speaker 1: pro bowler, one of the best at his position. I
- 54:10Speaker 1: think if if they only wanted the thirty first pick
- 54:14Speaker 1: in the draft, I would do it, even despite the money.
- 54:17Speaker 1: But I would think the Texans would want more than that.
- 54:20Speaker 1: They paid a lot more to get up than that,
- 54:23Speaker 1: so that's probably unlikely. All right, Let's get in a
- 54:26Speaker 1: couple more questions and then I'll let you go. Next
- 54:30Speaker 1: question comes from Raymond. Send this one you're way butch
- 54:35Speaker 1: forty eight seconds to go third down? And one why
- 54:39Speaker 1: not mixing? Probably asking the wrong guy, Raymond, did you
- 54:43Speaker 1: say did you send that in under the name Raymond?
- 54:49Speaker 1: You know, I can only you know what's your middle names?
- 54:55Speaker 1: Everybody does not love Raymond. But I think, but I
- 55:00Speaker 1: I think third and one, you know, I think you
- 55:02Speaker 1: just have to go by what Zach said. I mean,
- 55:04Speaker 1: I mean, he said he was faced with putting mixing
- 55:09Speaker 1: in the game. He didn't want to really screw with
- 55:11Speaker 1: the package, the two minute drill, and you know, I mean, yeah,
- 55:15Speaker 1: if it's me, I'm I'm you know, you know, you
- 55:17Speaker 1: know me, I'm I'm I got Borrow Wonders Center giving
- 55:20Speaker 1: it to mixing, and if not, on fourth one, I
- 55:22Speaker 1: got Borrow Wonders Center sneaking it. But you know, again,
- 55:27Speaker 1: Zach had his reasons. He was in a two minute mode.
- 55:29Speaker 1: He's trying to score, he's trying to win the game,
- 55:30Speaker 1: he's trying to win the Super Bowl. I can't fault
- 55:33Speaker 1: him by saying, Okay, I'm gonna stick with us. You know,
- 55:37Speaker 1: I think what they thought and in the reason he sound,
- 55:40Speaker 1: I think they thought with p right in the game,
- 55:43Speaker 1: they're thinking they're not going to run, right, and they didn't.
- 55:46Speaker 1: You know, they didn't. It didn't happen. So I think
- 55:50Speaker 1: that's I think that's the answer. They they figured they
- 55:53Speaker 1: weren't going to run in that look, and they tried
- 55:55Speaker 1: to run well. And I'll say as a former alignment that, um,
- 56:01Speaker 1: I wouldn't be happy with what I did at the
- 56:03Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. I'm not sure Jerry Brown with a
- 56:05Speaker 1: running back would have been a first down. I mean,
- 56:07Speaker 1: you've got to get a little bit better movement and
- 56:09Speaker 1: finish the block a little bit better than than took place.
- 56:12Speaker 1: You know, So I don't know. Um. You know, like
- 56:15Speaker 1: I say, I'm not gonna second guess the guy. The
- 56:17Speaker 1: guy got him. You know, I'm not gonna second guess
- 56:19Speaker 1: Zack because he got him into the super Bowl. So
- 56:21Speaker 1: who am I? You know, that's just what I would
- 56:23Speaker 1: have done, But I you know, who knows. Maybe you know,
- 56:25Speaker 1: like Lap said, maybe maybe mix and would have get
- 56:27Speaker 1: stopped too. You don't know, all right. Our final question
- 56:30Speaker 1: comes from Tyler. This is for you Lap. Tyler's question is,
- 56:35Speaker 1: please tell me that Lap is coming back next year.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Not to play. No, no, not to play. How much
- 56:49Speaker 1: do you want? I would just request that you two
- 56:52Speaker 1: guys speak at my funeral because if I came back,
- 56:56Speaker 1: it would be a quick death. So uh yeah, no.
- 57:02Speaker 1: My plan is to definitely uh join the Hall of
- 57:07Speaker 1: Famer in the UH the four time Ohio broadcast of
- 57:11Speaker 1: the year being Hoard in the Booth. That's your lap.
- 57:15Speaker 1: That's the best news I've heard all Day's exactly. My
- 57:18Speaker 1: day is made. My day is made, Fellas. This was fun.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Really appreciate your time. Look forward to doing more of
- 57:25Speaker 1: these as the as the months go on, before we
- 57:28Speaker 1: get back to training camp and can do it in person. Hey, Raymond,
