- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello everybody, and happy hump day. You are watching Fowl Territory.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I am a Wana Rizzo, your host for the next
- 0:08Speaker 1: couple of hours, alongside Ajo Krazinski, Eric Kratz, the mainstays
- 0:13Speaker 1: of this fair program. Great to be with you boys
- 0:15Speaker 1: on this afternoon. Don't forget everybody hashtag FT live. You
- 0:19Speaker 1: can buy our merch support the show and style Foul
- 0:22Speaker 1: Territory shop dot com. All right, boys, let's get to it.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Let's charge the mounds, charge.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Of about.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna just go with it. I'm just gonna go
- 0:32Speaker 1: with it. Let's talk about Cal Rawley, can we? I mean,
- 0:35Speaker 1: the man is just breaking records, setting records. I love
- 0:38Speaker 1: the fact that he's a switch hitting catcher doing it.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Pretty a nice company there in terms of besting Mickey
- 0:46Speaker 1: Mantle as far as the most home runs gentlemen in
- 0:48Speaker 1: a season from a switch hitter. Andy happens to be
- 0:51Speaker 1: a backstop like the two of you. AJ, what's your
- 0:53Speaker 1: take on mister Rawley.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I've been saying it for months. He's still my MVP.
- 0:57Speaker 3: He won't win because there's a bias, you like, because
- 1:00Speaker 3: Aaron Judge. But I think that maybe hopefully some voters
- 1:04Speaker 3: will get fatigued to Aaron Judge, but he's my MVP
- 1:06Speaker 3: in the American League, not only because of the way
- 1:08Speaker 3: he's hit home runs the all time. He's going to
- 1:10Speaker 3: set the all time record in Seattle. He's done switch
- 1:13Speaker 3: hitters record, he's done the catching record, and next is
- 1:17Speaker 3: the Mariners record if he gets the sixty home runs.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I'm sorry, there's no way he should not be MVP
- 1:21Speaker 3: because everyone on here believes.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I think that the Mariners are going to win.
- 1:25Speaker 3: The AL West, which is a big accomplishment, so I
- 1:27Speaker 3: think he should be the AL MVP.
- 1:29Speaker 2: There's not enough we can say about cal Rawlely.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Platinum Glove, home run record, switch hitter, he does it
- 1:34Speaker 3: all so and he plays every day.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So yeah, Kratz, does it matter? I know it sounds
- 1:39Speaker 1: silly asking a catcher this question, but the fact that
- 1:42Speaker 1: he's doing it, what he's doing as a backstop with
- 1:46Speaker 1: all of the responsibilities that go along with that premier
- 1:49Speaker 1: position in this game, does it mean even more that
- 1:53Speaker 1: he's doing this as a catcher.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Yes, how much more? I have no idea like there is.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Nobody would deny that it's the hardest position on the field.
- 2:04Speaker 3: It is the position that just looking at sheer numbers, offensively,
- 2:09Speaker 3: numbers are way down. This is why guys like aj
- 2:13Speaker 3: Perzinski are not in the Hall of Fame because they
- 2:15Speaker 3: try to compare catcher numbers to other positions. You need
- 2:20Speaker 3: to compare catchers to catchers. This season he is having
- 2:24Speaker 3: is historic. It will possibly in my generate in my lifetime,
- 2:30Speaker 3: it will not be passed, and it needs to be celebrated.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And yes, what he's doing is ridiculous. Just on a
- 2:38Speaker 3: if you show Hay's numbers were better than this last year,
- 2:42Speaker 3: but I mean he didn't have as many home runs
- 2:43Speaker 3: is as Cow has this year, and you saw he
- 2:46Speaker 3: won the MVP at DH He's doing it behind the dish.
- 2:51Speaker 2: This is a ridiculous.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It's probably one of the top five seasons that I've
- 2:56Speaker 3: ever seen in my lifetime, and yet he is.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Not your MVP. Kratz, explain yourself.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Because in that top five, Aaron Judge is putting himself
- 3:07Speaker 3: above there. It's unfair. It's unfair for Cal and as
- 3:12Speaker 3: a catcher, I should vote for Cal as a If
- 3:17Speaker 3: I was a voter, I would have to vote the
- 3:20Speaker 3: most valuable player, and I think both guys their team
- 3:26Speaker 3: doesn't make the playoffs without them. I think equally Aaron
- 3:30Speaker 3: Judge without Aaron Judge. The Yankees do not make it
- 3:32Speaker 3: without Cal Raley. The Mariners do not make it.
- 3:36Speaker 1: A je Let me ask you this because I just
- 3:38Speaker 1: asked Ek if it mattered more because Cal is doing
- 3:41Speaker 1: it as a catcher? Does it matter more in terms
- 3:43Speaker 1: of the numbers that he's putting up because he's passing
- 3:46Speaker 1: the likes of guys like Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffy Junior.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I mean when you think about those names, and Cal
- 3:51Speaker 1: himself postgame yesterday says he doesn't belong a j in
- 3:55Speaker 1: the conversation of a Mickey Mantle of a Griffy Junior,
- 3:59Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty unbelievable company. Does it mean more
- 4:03Speaker 1: because he's elevated himself even past those greats?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Well, it means more because it's a historical year. That's
- 4:10Speaker 3: the biggest thing. And will he do this again? We
- 4:12Speaker 3: don't know that, but this is an all time history
- 4:15Speaker 3: making year, like when Ronald Acuna went forty and seventy
- 4:18Speaker 3: and he beat out show Hey for the what was
- 4:20Speaker 3: it the players award the Player of the Year, hit
- 4:23Speaker 3: or of the.
- 4:23Speaker 2: War or whatever it was.
- 4:25Speaker 3: We had a whole argument about that because of a
- 4:27Speaker 3: historical year. This is a historical year, a possible once
- 4:31Speaker 3: in a lifetime thing. We're seeing something that no one
- 4:34Speaker 3: has ever done in the history of baseball. So that's
- 4:37Speaker 3: why he should be rewarded with it. And also I
- 4:40Speaker 3: just think he's so valuable to the Mariners because of
- 4:43Speaker 3: his catching and to be passing guys Mickey man O, King,
- 4:46Speaker 3: Griffy Junior, these are icons of the game of all time.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Kyle Rowly deserves a little more credit, and I don't
- 4:52Speaker 3: know why he's not getting it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Unfortunately.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I think it's he's going to be in the conversation
- 4:57Speaker 3: for the home runs are looking at like Mickey Mantle's
- 5:01Speaker 3: season that the year that he had the fifty four
- 5:06Speaker 3: home runs and the years that Ken Griffy had fifty
- 5:10Speaker 3: six home runs, the two milestones that he's tied and
- 5:13Speaker 3: just passed. Like you're talking about, does it had I
- 5:18Speaker 3: had it pulled up and now I don't like Griffy
- 5:21Speaker 3: had a thousand ops, he had a three. He was
- 5:27Speaker 3: hitting three hundred. He was hit almost four hundred on
- 5:30Speaker 3: base percentage like the other numbers were as equally dominant
- 5:36Speaker 3: as the fifty six home runs. Mickey Mantle as the
- 5:40Speaker 3: fifty four home runs, so he will be in that conversation.
- 5:44Speaker 2: He will be.
- 5:44Speaker 3: But if you ranked him against those seasons, he would
- 5:47Speaker 3: be second place behind those seasons also. And that's what
- 5:51Speaker 3: we're comparing, like golden apples to golden apples here, Like
- 5:54Speaker 3: it's not nobody's hating on I watched some of the
- 5:57Speaker 3: responses to some of the guys, the things that you
- 6:00Speaker 3: guys said yesterday about the MVP debate, and nobody's hating
- 6:04Speaker 3: on Cal Raley and people that pick Cal Ray, nobody's
- 6:07Speaker 3: hating on Aaron Judge. You have to compare two guys
- 6:10Speaker 3: that have been historically dominant in one season. Unfortunately, it'd
- 6:16Speaker 3: be better if they did it in separate seasons.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, and I do think Aaron Judge has more of
- 6:21Speaker 1: an opportunity to perhaps repeat this type of season than
- 6:25Speaker 1: Cal Rawley does. I think this is a name once
- 6:27Speaker 1: in a lifetime season for Cal. Let me ask you this, though, guys,
- 6:30Speaker 1: he hit fifty five and fifty six last night. Only
- 6:33Speaker 1: nine other players in this great Game of ours have
- 6:35Speaker 1: hit the sixty home run mark. There's still what ten
- 6:39Speaker 1: eleven games left to go? AJ does Cal hit sixty
- 6:42Speaker 1: this year.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I said he was going to hit sixty a long
- 6:45Speaker 3: time ago, so I think he's going to get there.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I think he figures out a way to get to sixty.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I don't know if he gets to. Aaron Judge's American
- 6:51Speaker 3: League record was at sixty two, but I think he
- 6:54Speaker 3: can figure out a way to hit four more because
- 6:56Speaker 3: these games mean something, their independent raise, and he's going
- 6:59Speaker 3: to have to play. He's not going to get days
- 7:00Speaker 3: off because they're one game ahead for the AOS. So
- 7:04Speaker 3: I think he's gonna have to play and he's gonna
- 7:06Speaker 3: have to perform, and I think he'll do it. The
- 7:09Speaker 3: last week at home he hit sixty and win the MVP.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Hey, if you're a card collector or you're looking to collect, buy, sell, trade,
- 7:18Speaker 4: Arena clubs the spot, and I'm going to tell you why.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Because the old process AJA was very clunky. Buy a box,
- 7:25Speaker 4: rip the pack, tons of comments, send it in for grading,
- 7:27Speaker 4: and then finally you get everything back. This is weeks
- 7:30Speaker 4: and weeks and you can start to try and sell
- 7:33Speaker 4: the card. We have eliminated that with Arena club or
- 7:36Speaker 4: they have I act like I'm part of it, but
- 7:37Speaker 4: in really one step.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Arena's your one stop shop for everything. You get a card,
- 7:42Speaker 3: you open a slap pack, the card is there, it's graded,
- 7:45Speaker 3: It spins around. Cooley shows you three D the front,
- 7:48Speaker 3: the back, you can look at the corners, you can
- 7:50Speaker 3: look at everything, and then you get a decision. Do
- 7:52Speaker 3: I want to keep it? Do I want to sell it?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Do I want to trade it? Gives you an instant offer.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You can buy it back and re rip another slap
- 7:58Speaker 3: back and try for someone else, or you can keep
- 8:00Speaker 3: it and hope the value goes up and sell it
- 8:02Speaker 3: a later day. It is truly the best spot to
- 8:04Speaker 3: get cards.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Twenty percent off your first lab pack or card purchase
- 8:08Speaker 4: can be had right now at arenaclub dot com. Slash
- 8:10Speaker 4: foul and use code foul.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I thought he had no shot at hitting sixty unless
- 8:17Speaker 3: he goes into Kansas City and the series because it's
- 8:19Speaker 3: a large stadium team, the pitchers don't give up a
- 8:22Speaker 3: ton of home runs at home there. I thought if
- 8:25Speaker 3: he hit two this series he could get there. He
- 8:28Speaker 3: freaking hits two in his first three at bats last night,
- 8:31Speaker 3: So yeah, I think he's going to get to sixty.
- 8:34Speaker 3: That is such a crazy number to think about it.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Is crazy to think about it, especially from a catcher. Guys,
- 8:39Speaker 1: what is crazier though?
- 8:41Speaker 2: That fact?
- 8:41Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with my headroom here.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I don't know if that's crazier sixty home runs from
- 8:45Speaker 1: a catcher or the fact that look at the Mariners
- 8:49Speaker 1: making it difficult for the Houston Astros. Did we see
- 8:52Speaker 1: that coming?
- 8:53Speaker 3: But they've won ten games in a row, not as
- 8:55Speaker 3: bad as they played on the road. But now they've
- 8:57Speaker 3: come home and they've won ten games in a row
- 8:59Speaker 3: and they went east on a game. So the Mariners
- 9:01Speaker 3: are doing it right now. And listen, the Astros are
- 9:04Speaker 3: doing everything in their power to stay in the in
- 9:06Speaker 3: this fight and winning the first two against the Rangers.
- 9:09Speaker 3: But wow, I mean ten in a row at this
- 9:11Speaker 3: time of year. The only question I asked is are
- 9:13Speaker 3: you peaking too early? Are you peaking too early? Because
- 9:16Speaker 3: in baseball you're always do a little down. Are you
- 9:19Speaker 3: peaking too early?
- 9:22Speaker 1: Well, that's just it, right, It's whenever you're playing the
- 9:24Speaker 1: best at the right time. That's the difficulty of this game,
- 9:28Speaker 1: you guys. That's why in football it seems like, oh,
- 9:30Speaker 1: if you have seventeen eighteen games, it's a lot easier
- 9:32Speaker 1: than if you have one hundred and sixty two. Doesn't
- 9:34Speaker 1: really matter what you're doing in the middle of May.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I mean it does at the end of the day
- 9:38Speaker 1: in terms of record and standings and stuff. But you
- 9:41Speaker 1: got to be playing good baseball at the right time,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and the Mariners kind of seem to be doing that.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Got to be healthy too, You got to be healthy.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I mean, we we talked about the last two weeks.
- 9:52Speaker 3: To me, it's about like guys like last night Michael
- 9:54Speaker 3: King pitching, Like, how does he do in these last
- 9:57Speaker 3: two weeks? How do guys coming off the IL. We
- 10:00Speaker 3: talked about Kyle Tucker coming off the IL. So if
- 10:03Speaker 3: your team is healthy, then it kind of matters how
- 10:07Speaker 3: you're going into Like if you win fifteen straight games
- 10:11Speaker 3: to finish out the regular season. Yeah, I mean history
- 10:15Speaker 3: says those teams rarely go in and go up two
- 10:19Speaker 3: and q out in the first round. No, they're like,
- 10:21Speaker 3: no off days. We'll play somebody on the off day.
- 10:24Speaker 3: We don't want anything like we are. We're pushing it
- 10:27Speaker 3: and that's that's how that's how you make a run.
- 10:31Speaker 3: I remember we made a run like that with the
- 10:33Speaker 3: with the Royals. We made a run like that with
- 10:35Speaker 3: the Brewers. But all that doesn't happen unless you win
- 10:39Speaker 3: that one close game here and there to make yourself
- 10:43Speaker 3: get that momentum and just ride that ally into the postseason.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I would love it to see the Mariners obviously win
- 10:48Speaker 1: the division, but more over, guys go deep into the postseason. Right,
- 10:53Speaker 1: it's one thing for the Mariners to make the postseason.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's another thing entirely to show them that this year
- 10:59Speaker 1: they're actually a complete Mariners team, more so than we've
- 11:02Speaker 1: seen in years past.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Right, they've never been to a World Series. They got
- 11:08Speaker 3: to get to the World Series. That's it. I mean,
- 11:11Speaker 3: they've been to the LCS, they've lost. They they've been,
- 11:13Speaker 3: they've been to the playoffs recently they've lost. They got
- 11:16Speaker 3: to make a deep run and get to the World
- 11:18Speaker 3: Series because they've never been there, so we don't know,
- 11:21Speaker 3: but we've never seen it. They're more complete, they're more complete,
- 11:24Speaker 3: like you said, but they do have to hit. Yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 3: and because the pitching isn't what it was last year.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Last year, everybody if they knew if the Mariners got
- 11:34Speaker 3: in whoa, they might win every game one nothing and
- 11:38Speaker 3: it might be a twelve or thirteen inning game because
- 11:41Speaker 3: their pitching was lockdown nails this year.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They're just a little bit more human guys.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Trevor story, he is a thief. He is thirty for
- 11:50Speaker 1: thirty now in stolen bases on the year. It's pretty good.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Not a single caught stealing. He ties the record for
- 11:57Speaker 1: most stolen bags in the season without being And this
- 12:00Speaker 1: is a guy that posts plays every day. What's the
- 12:03Speaker 1: most impressive thing about that to you?
- 12:05Speaker 3: Aj Not getting caught, not getting picked off, not trying
- 12:09Speaker 3: to get a big jump, none of this, no one,
- 12:11Speaker 3: no catcher making a really perfect throw, Like right there,
- 12:14Speaker 3: Langeleers makes a really good throw and he's still safe.
- 12:16Speaker 3: So this is not only a credit to Trevor's story.
- 12:19Speaker 3: This is also a credit to the first base coach.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And I'm not forget who the first base coach is
- 12:23Speaker 3: in Boston at this point, but they've got something. They
- 12:26Speaker 3: know when to go. They picked the right pitches. So
- 12:28Speaker 3: this is not only on Trevor story. This is also
- 12:30Speaker 3: on whoever their base running slash first base coaches and
- 12:33Speaker 3: not right there was luck because if he tags his ankle,
- 12:35Speaker 3: he's out. So I mean there's also a lot of
- 12:38Speaker 3: luck involved there too.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Part of it. Part of it.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Jose Flores is the first base coach and Kyle Hudson
- 12:45Speaker 3: Huddy the third base coach. Both those dudes they know
- 12:49Speaker 3: stolen bases. Stolen bases. Yes, it happens by speed, but
- 12:53Speaker 3: it happens because you're picking something up, whether the catcher
- 12:57Speaker 3: sets up differently. A pitcher is a a lean guy,
- 13:01Speaker 3: where you know he leans back. He might be a
- 13:03Speaker 3: one to two on the gun, on the on the
- 13:07Speaker 3: stopwatch to the plate, but when he leans now, all
- 13:10Speaker 3: of a sudden, he's a one to five and you
- 13:12Speaker 3: can pick that up. And that's how you get thirty
- 13:14Speaker 3: for thirty.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Good drop t sen Aja. You said it before that
- 13:30Speaker 1: the fact that Houston kind of superseded, or maybe it
- 13:34Speaker 1: was Eric, I can't remember. I'm sorry, but Houston's in
- 13:36Speaker 1: that second wild card spot now, is my point. That's
- 13:38Speaker 1: a pretty big deal. Why do you think this is
- 13:40Speaker 1: a big deal?
- 13:42Speaker 3: Well, because if you're Boston, you don't want to have
- 13:44Speaker 3: to go to Seattle. If you're in Boston, you have
- 13:47Speaker 3: to go to Seattle now, and that's a long flight.
- 13:51Speaker 3: So at the end of the season, you're packing up
- 13:53Speaker 3: and you're going to Seattle. And then you're possibly going
- 13:55Speaker 3: wherever the next wherever, the next round if you win
- 13:59Speaker 3: that round makes you which would be Detroit, so you're
- 14:02Speaker 3: you're leaving again for another week plus. So I think
- 14:05Speaker 3: this is a bigger deal for them. Houston's used to
- 14:07Speaker 3: going to Seattle. If they have to play Seattle, they
- 14:09Speaker 3: know Seattle well. But for Boston, listen, Yankee Stadium is
- 14:12Speaker 3: right there. They can take the train or fly however
- 14:14Speaker 3: they want to do it. It's just an easier thing
- 14:16Speaker 3: for everybody. You just don't want to have a lot
- 14:18Speaker 3: of people we talk about the Seattle travel all the time.
- 14:21Speaker 3: A lot of people don't want to have to go
- 14:22Speaker 3: to Seattle.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It's just far. It's really far. It's beautiful city, but
- 14:26Speaker 2: it's so far it is.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And the greatest sushi restaurant Japanessa. If you know, you
- 14:31Speaker 1: know Eric Kratz. The winner of Wednesday's game between the
- 14:34Speaker 1: Astros and the Rangers takes the season series. They will
- 14:38Speaker 1: hold any tiebreakers if the club's finish with the same record.
- 14:41Speaker 1: There's a lot riding on today's game.
- 14:44Speaker 3: There is a lot if we want to continue that storyline.
- 14:47Speaker 3: But if the Rangers don't win, I don't care if
- 14:50Speaker 3: they would have had the season series after that, anyway
- 14:54Speaker 3: they would have been, they would be out. This is
- 14:56Speaker 3: a must win, have to have it. Everybody talks about
- 14:59Speaker 3: mine wins. This is the must win.
- 15:03Speaker 1: The Astros held off a three run eighth inning. Brian
- 15:05Speaker 1: A bray You gets the four out saved despite letting
- 15:08Speaker 1: up three hits. It's touch and go though every time.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Though.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I feel with the Astros when it comes to that bullpen,
- 15:14Speaker 1: obviously you're only as good as your bullpen is in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the postseason. I feel it's pitching, it's defense. You guys
- 15:20Speaker 1: know that better than anybody. Josh haters on the il
- 15:22Speaker 1: that's problematic, is it not?
- 15:25Speaker 3: Their whole team seems like it has been banged up the
- 15:27Speaker 3: whole year. Everything is problematic. And last night they were
- 15:30Speaker 3: up six nothing, six to one, and then all of
- 15:32Speaker 3: a sudden, Dale Santos has been really good for him,
- 15:35Speaker 3: gives up a bunch of runs and they had to
- 15:36Speaker 3: get a bray You in there to close it down
- 15:38Speaker 3: after giving up some knocks. But it was not an
- 15:41Speaker 3: easy save. It's a four out save. It'd be interesting
- 15:42Speaker 3: to see who they have available for today's game, and
- 15:45Speaker 3: they're facing too. Graham today. So listen, give give credit
- 15:48Speaker 3: to Alexander the first game and Gordon last night. They
- 15:51Speaker 3: pitched really well, unherlded guys that have done a great
- 15:54Speaker 3: job for the Astros this whole season, really so they
- 15:58Speaker 3: deserve a lot of credit. Hobby pitch today, He's been
- 16:01Speaker 3: better lately. But de gram against Lavier, that seems like
- 16:05Speaker 3: there should be the Rangers game to take and they
- 16:06Speaker 3: have to win this or their season's over.
- 16:08Speaker 1: You would you would think that Astro's GM Dana Brown
- 16:11Speaker 1: guys said that the team received good news on Jordne
- 16:13Speaker 1: Alvarez is MRI. No fracture. That's a positive. They will
- 16:17Speaker 1: know more in a couple of days. I mean in
- 16:20Speaker 1: a couple of days, Like I mean, we're running out
- 16:21Speaker 1: of time here, so I guess that's good news, no fracture,
- 16:24Speaker 1: But I mean it's still got to be I would
- 16:26Speaker 1: imagine quite sore. I mean, is this something you just
- 16:28Speaker 1: shoot the guy up and say, get out their kid,
- 16:30Speaker 1: go get him Russ.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Not for not for an entire postseason. No, look at
- 16:36Speaker 3: what they had, look at what the Dodgers had to
- 16:37Speaker 3: do with Freddy last year. Yeah, I saw a side
- 16:40Speaker 3: by side of Freddy's road ankle and Jordan's road ankle.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It almost looks identical. Obviously different. I think it's different foot,
- 16:48Speaker 3: but like the depth of that role, like the high
- 16:51Speaker 3: ankle sprain. I guess they're calling it he's gonna be
- 16:54Speaker 3: in pain. He's gonna be in pain shooting it up, though.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:00Speaker 3: The Astros are very, very cautious about any injuries. We'll
- 17:06Speaker 3: see how they are, how cautious they are, especially if
- 17:08Speaker 3: Estoc Paradis comes back. You can't be like, hey, you're done,
- 17:11Speaker 3: You're gonna DH and Paradis You're gonna da uhh. So
- 17:17Speaker 3: that's that's the issue that they're gonna run into. And
- 17:20Speaker 3: they need the offense. They need a left handed batan there.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I think you're done. It's fine, just coming back out
- 17:26Speaker 3: off injuries, not needing to rehab. I think his game
- 17:29Speaker 3: or swing is that good. But man, you can't have
- 17:33Speaker 3: two guys that have to both DH and then you
- 17:35Speaker 3: gotta plug one in if they're gonna play. So this
- 17:37Speaker 3: is concerning for the Astros.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Crats.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I'm gonna steal a line right from the top here
- 17:44Speaker 4: about Meyundi's a cut for every butt. I took a
- 17:49Speaker 4: line that I feel like you would enjoy, but then
- 17:51Speaker 4: you stole my thunder with show and tell. What do
- 17:54Speaker 4: you have there.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Besides a huge Baduka dunk. This is my pair of
- 18:00Speaker 3: me Undies that I got. I'm not going to show
- 18:02Speaker 3: you the other pair right now because I got them on,
- 18:04Speaker 3: but it doesn't even feel like you have them on,
- 18:06Speaker 3: super soft, flexible and yet holding everything together.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I love the twenty different styles, one hundred different colors
- 18:15Speaker 4: and prints, and the micro modal fabric is what you're
- 18:19Speaker 4: talking about. Breathable, stretchy, unbelievably cozy and right now, as
- 18:24Speaker 4: a listener of FT, you can get cozy and spooky
- 18:27Speaker 4: for less with deals up to fifty percent off at
- 18:29Speaker 4: meundies dot com slash foul and enter promo code foul.
- 18:33Speaker 4: That's me undies dot Com slash foul promo code foul
- 18:36Speaker 4: for up to fifty percent off me Undie's comfort that's
- 18:40Speaker 4: made for fall and.
- 18:41Speaker 1: What the astors are doing without the services of Kyle
- 18:45Speaker 1: Tucker and Alex Bregman is stupid. It's still amazing to
- 18:48Speaker 1: me that they're always where they are. This team just
- 18:50Speaker 1: reloads every single year. There is a Kyle Tucker update
- 18:53Speaker 1: a Chicago Cub Kyle Tucker update. He is traveling to
- 18:57Speaker 1: Tampa this morning with a member of Chicago's medical staff.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Manager Craig Council has said to seek additional outside treatment
- 19:04Speaker 1: for a calf injury that has plateaued. Tucker is expected
- 19:08Speaker 1: to rejoin the team next week in Chicago. Guys, Obviously,
- 19:11Speaker 1: the Cubs have a stronghold on the wild card spot,
- 19:15Speaker 1: that top spot there behind the NL Central winning Milwaukee Brewers.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But if it's plateaued, I guess you can't hurt it
- 19:23Speaker 1: any further. It doesn't get any better. I mean, AJ,
- 19:27Speaker 1: what do you take away from this update on Tucker.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I've never heard of an injury plateauinguse. I mean, it's
- 19:32Speaker 3: at the top and then it's going to go down
- 19:34Speaker 3: or I don't know, it's going to stay the same
- 19:37Speaker 3: never I don't know. But a cals are like hamstrings
- 19:40Speaker 3: for me. When you heard a calf, everyone comes back
- 19:43Speaker 3: from it and then they're like, oh, I'm good, and
- 19:45Speaker 3: then they always heard it like the first game or
- 19:47Speaker 3: two back, and then they're out longer. So you got
- 19:49Speaker 3: to be careful with these hamstrings are the same way.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Every guy seemed like they pulled a hamstring. They Oh,
- 19:54Speaker 3: they go to rehab and they run their little cone
- 19:56Speaker 3: drills out there and then the game starts in boom.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Then the first game or two the same thing. It
- 20:00Speaker 3: always seemed like they repulled it. Now that's not every time,
- 20:02Speaker 3: but it just seemed like it. Okay, and the Calves
- 20:05Speaker 3: are the same way.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Guys. I saw the pulled Calves eventually heard it again
- 20:08Speaker 2: for some reason.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I don't know why. I don't know what this means.
- 20:11Speaker 3: But if he's supposed to be back next week, good
- 20:13Speaker 3: on Kyle Tucker.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Because the Cubs are gonna need him in the postseason.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't have you can't. You can't have success
- 20:22Speaker 3: for the Cubs if you don't have Kyle Tucker.
- 20:24Speaker 2: That's it.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I mean, Cubs fans might get at me for that,
- 20:28Speaker 3: but they are offensively. They are not the Apex offensive
- 20:35Speaker 3: club that they were earlier this year. They're just not
- 20:38Speaker 3: and they need Kyle Tucker to be that guy for them.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I know they scored four runs this morning today in
- 20:45Speaker 3: their first inning, but look, you have to that is
- 20:48Speaker 3: what will carry this team because I don't think they're
- 20:50Speaker 3: pitching has enough depth.
- 20:53Speaker 1: What do you think is more problematic? And this might
- 20:57Speaker 1: seem silly, but the Chicago Cut without the services of
- 21:01Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker moving forward, or the Houston Astros without the
- 21:05Speaker 1: services of your Don Alvarez moving forward the.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Cubs because Alva has been out basically the whole year.
- 21:11Speaker 3: So the Astros have done this, been they've done this.
- 21:14Speaker 3: And also I think the American League is easier than
- 21:16Speaker 3: the National League, so I'll say it too. And the Astros.
- 21:21Speaker 3: You can ask. We've asked people all day, how are
- 21:23Speaker 3: the Astros doing it? Everyone keeps not giving them credit,
- 21:26Speaker 3: but they're getting it done somehow. Someway, they don't score
- 21:28Speaker 3: enough runs. They're pitching isn't good enough, their bullpen isn't
- 21:30Speaker 3: good enough. But here they are going to get to
- 21:32Speaker 3: the postseason again somehouse away and I wouldn't bet against
- 21:34Speaker 3: him in the postseason with all their experience. So I think,
- 21:36Speaker 3: to me, it's Tucker because Alvarez has been out pretty
- 21:40Speaker 3: much the whole year.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, I agree.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Well partly, you guys are probably right. I mean, he's
- 21:47Speaker 1: been he has been gone. They've been there, done this,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but they're still battling for a wildcard spot. Guys at
- 21:53Speaker 1: the end of the season, where I guess they did
- 21:56Speaker 1: it a little bit, you know in years past where
- 21:58Speaker 1: they were kind of battling for a user or winning
- 22:01Speaker 1: the division. Yeah, was it three years.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Ago, two years ago when they had to win when
- 22:05Speaker 3: the Seattle that was the Alex Bragman will never know
- 22:09Speaker 3: the Rangers. Rangers got in because the Astros, I mean,
- 22:12Speaker 3: they were battling for their life.
- 22:13Speaker 2: They've been through this before.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Remember in twenty twenty in COVID they were thirty and
- 22:18Speaker 3: thirty and got to the and and almost came back
- 22:20Speaker 3: from down three to zero against the Rays and the
- 22:23Speaker 3: Alcs and out in San Diego.
- 22:25Speaker 2: So the Astros have had their backs again.
- 22:27Speaker 3: So well, that's the one thing about the Astros I
- 22:28Speaker 3: don't feel like we that we don't need to worry about,
- 22:30Speaker 3: is like they figured out. Like they went into this series,
- 22:33Speaker 3: remember against the Rangers. Everyone's like, oh, the Rangers. And
- 22:36Speaker 3: they go out win the first two games and you're like, oh,
- 22:38Speaker 3: all right, everyone take a deep breath here for a minute,
- 22:40Speaker 3: because they listen, they have a two game lead over
- 22:43Speaker 3: the Guardians right now. I don't know who has the
- 22:46Speaker 3: wild car or the the tiebreaker, but yeah, I don't
- 22:49Speaker 3: know who has that, but I feel like they're gonna
- 22:52Speaker 3: get in. They just know how to win, and nobody
- 22:56Speaker 3: can Nobody can argue with that. They can argue with
- 22:59Speaker 3: how you win. But that organization in the minor leagues,
- 23:04Speaker 3: they promote, yes, all the metrics and being the best,
- 23:07Speaker 3: hard hitting, don't strike out, zone control hitters, but they
- 23:12Speaker 3: also put an ownership on winning in the minor leagues,
- 23:15Speaker 3: and they expect their teams to win to a certain
- 23:18Speaker 3: to a certain extent, and I think that just permeates
- 23:21Speaker 3: through the organization. Like there's a expectation that when Correa left,
- 23:26Speaker 3: Paynya was going to step in to be the leader
- 23:29Speaker 3: of this team. Oh now they got Correa back after
- 23:33Speaker 3: they lost one of their biggest leaders, and now Alex Bregman. Like,
- 23:37Speaker 3: there's just an expectation of winning there. And I think
- 23:39Speaker 3: when you raise that level of expectation like some organizations don't,
- 23:44Speaker 3: and you have good players, that's how you're always in
- 23:47Speaker 3: it and you always you can't be counted out.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about the New York and Metropolitans,
- 23:52Speaker 1: shall we, because goodness knows we don't talk about the
- 23:54Speaker 1: Mets enough. So Ken release a column that's Ken Rosenthal.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Of course, releasing a column this morning, the Mets kept
- 24:00Speaker 1: a passing lane open in the race for the National
- 24:03Speaker 1: League's final wildcard spot. Will any team take it? Kratz,
- 24:06Speaker 1: I ask you that AJ says they're in.
- 24:11Speaker 2: No.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I mean we would have to have a We would
- 24:13Speaker 3: have to have a Lona Rizzos, Rockies Typo No.
- 24:16Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no no no.
- 24:18Speaker 3: End of the season. You need another home you need
- 24:21Speaker 3: another homer team.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But I the Red Sox for my homer team.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Now okay, okay, from the from the Diamondbacks, you'd have
- 24:28Speaker 3: to have a historic of the what of the Rockies
- 24:31Speaker 3: went nineteen of twenty one to get in and then
- 24:33Speaker 3: they run two. See I knew my Homer would thank you,
- 24:38Speaker 3: thank you, Homer, but you're welcome. That is what that
- 24:42Speaker 3: is what they're going to need, because I think the
- 24:44Speaker 3: Mets have started to figure out how to score runs again,
- 24:48Speaker 3: and they're going to play some seven to five games,
- 24:53Speaker 3: some eight to six games. But it's just so much
- 24:57Speaker 3: to make up. I get it's a game and a
- 24:59Speaker 3: half that Diamondbacks have to The Diamonbacks can't lose more
- 25:03Speaker 3: than three games for the rest of the season, which
- 25:07Speaker 3: is a really, really tall task. I don't care who
- 25:10Speaker 3: they're playing when they're playing them, but AJ look at this.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Look no further to the poor play of the Mets
- 25:15Speaker 1: for the past three months. They're thirty three and forty nine.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Since they're forty five and twenty four start, that is
- 25:20Speaker 1: the worst record over that span, even worse than the
- 25:23Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Pirates, the Chicago White Sox, who you know intimately,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and all but three other clubs. That's the only reason
- 25:30Speaker 1: these three pursuers are even getting a sniff. They had
- 25:33Speaker 1: lost eight straight before winning the last of their three
- 25:36Speaker 1: game series against the Rangers. I mean, they've got a
- 25:39Speaker 1: lot of there's a lot of reason that they're in
- 25:42Speaker 1: this position right now. They had a.
- 25:44Speaker 2: They've done it to themselves. They've done it.
- 25:46Speaker 3: But also listen, you know we're like, ooh, we're number
- 25:50Speaker 3: with the Diamondbacks. They're seventy seven and seventy five. Okay,
- 25:52Speaker 3: the Mets have done this to themselves. They're three games up.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Jim Boden tried to correct me. They're one and a half. Actually,
- 25:59Speaker 3: there're two. I always look at the they're two bad.
- 26:01Speaker 3: You can't make the losses up. Okay, so they're two
- 26:04Speaker 3: back in the lost column plus the tiebreaker, that's three.
- 26:06Speaker 3: And by the way, the Guardians have the tiebreaker over
- 26:08Speaker 3: the Astros, which is a big deal because if they
- 26:10Speaker 3: end up tied, the Guardians get in over them, So
- 26:12Speaker 3: that actually is a big deal. But the Mets are in.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I'm sorry, unless something absolutely has unless they lose eight
- 26:18Speaker 3: games in a row, the Mets are going to get in. Yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 3: that's what he said.
- 26:21Speaker 2: That's what he said. That's what he said.
- 26:25Speaker 1: That's what he said. Well, you guessed it. It's time
- 26:30Speaker 1: for that's what he said. Doug McClain, who does stuff
- 26:34Speaker 1: on for DMAC Underscore LA of course covering the Dodgers
- 26:37Speaker 1: in Los Angeles show, Hey Otani said that he'd be
- 26:40Speaker 1: willing to play outfield in the postseason. What I've been
- 26:45Speaker 1: having conversations with different people, and that topic has come
- 26:48Speaker 1: up as well. That applies to the mound and possibly
- 26:50Speaker 1: even the outfield if I end up going as a reliever,
- 26:54Speaker 1: and there could be situations where I also need to
- 26:56Speaker 1: play defense in the outfield. Obviously, shoe O Tani was
- 26:59Speaker 1: talked with Japanese media. This is all through interpreters as well,
- 27:04Speaker 1: but the fact of the matter is he's obviously having
- 27:06Speaker 1: these conversations gentlemen, if he himself was the one who's
- 27:09Speaker 1: bringing it up. Show Hey pitched five no hit innings
- 27:12Speaker 1: last night. Also got his fiftieth home run of the year.
- 27:15Speaker 1: He's the first player with fifty home runs in back
- 27:17Speaker 1: to back season since Alex Rodriguez whatever in two thousand
- 27:21Speaker 1: and one, two thousand and two. So, I don't know
- 27:27Speaker 1: what what are we doing, la.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Are you gonna practice? Are we gonna practice in the outfit?
- 27:32Speaker 3: Are we just gonna throw him out there in the playoffs?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Aster not ever practicing in a game.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I mean, it's like.
- 27:38Speaker 3: It's almost like show Hey does whatever he wants. Oh,
- 27:40Speaker 3: I'm gonna start today.
- 27:42Speaker 1: He definitely, he definitely does whatever he wants.
- 27:44Speaker 3: But it's like, don't you want to practice a little
- 27:48Speaker 3: bit out there? I would think you'd want to practice,
- 27:49Speaker 3: and maybe, Hey, if you're gonna pitch out of the bullpen,
- 27:52Speaker 3: show Hey, we have ten games left, you might want
- 27:55Speaker 3: to practice it before you do it, because your warm
- 27:57Speaker 3: up routine is really long. Oh yeah, And also if
- 27:59Speaker 3: you're gonna the often, we might like to see you
- 28:01Speaker 3: catch a fly ball or two before.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I don't know, He's never done either. By the way,
- 28:07Speaker 2: they were talking about this last night. Uh.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I was watching the Dodger game last night and they
- 28:13Speaker 3: were talking about this this rule, and they're like, Oh,
- 28:16Speaker 3: they need to change the rule before the playoffs so
- 28:18Speaker 3: that that that show Hay gets to pitch in the
- 28:20Speaker 3: playoffs as a reliever. I'm like, we just can't change
- 28:23Speaker 3: rules all the time because Show they already made one
- 28:25Speaker 3: rule for him. We can't just change rules of baseball
- 28:28Speaker 3: for one guy forever, like the rules stick with it.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I don't know who said it. I don't know what.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I don't know if it was on the bro it
- 28:38Speaker 3: was on some broadcast, but they were like, Andrew Friedman
- 28:41Speaker 3: came out and said they need to change this rule
- 28:43Speaker 3: because show Hey might not be able to pitch in
- 28:45Speaker 3: the postseason. I'm sure, Andrew Freeman, there's a lot of
- 28:48Speaker 3: rules you'd like to change it help your team win.
- 28:50Speaker 1: And did Andrew really say that, We don't know.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:54Speaker 3: That's what somebody quoted him and saying it was on
- 28:56Speaker 3: a broadcast. I don't know what prodcast I was watching.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I don't know it done.
- 29:01Speaker 3: He's never done either. Sorry, Alana, what has to be
- 29:04Speaker 3: reiterated he's never come out of the bullpen. Clayton Kershall
- 29:08Speaker 3: has come out of the bullpen in the postseason in
- 29:11Speaker 3: big games. So Clayton Kershall is a future Locke Hall
- 29:15Speaker 3: of Famer and he has done it. He may be
- 29:20Speaker 3: more comfortable doing it, like to say the show, he's
- 29:23Speaker 3: just gonna all of a sudden come out of the bullpen,
- 29:24Speaker 3: all of a sudden, go chase down fly balls. Is
- 29:27Speaker 3: there anybody in the game that I would say could
- 29:30Speaker 3: do it without any practice?
- 29:32Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Absolutely, But I feel like maybe this is the time
- 29:37Speaker 3: when you're not going to catch the phillies. Now, I
- 29:39Speaker 3: feel like this is the time if you're going to
- 29:41Speaker 3: do that. But when do they do that? He just
- 29:43Speaker 3: pitched yesterday. He's fatigued. When you're fatigued, that's the best
- 29:47Speaker 3: chance of having a small muscle tear, which you cannot
- 29:51Speaker 3: afford for him to have.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So how would they get that done?
- 29:56Speaker 1: What's the like, what's the likely yer of the two
- 29:58Speaker 1: to happen? Show Kotani plays in the outfield in the postseason,
- 30:02Speaker 1: comes out of the bullpen, or rookie Sosaki makes the
- 30:05Speaker 1: postseason roster?
- 30:10Speaker 2: Can I say neither, because neither one of us, so
- 30:14Speaker 2: the bullpen.
- 30:14Speaker 1: He's not playing in the outfield, and Sosaki is not
- 30:17Speaker 1: making the postseason roster.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Rookieaki is gonna make the roster.
- 30:20Speaker 3: He can't even exactly, so it's neither either because he
- 30:24Speaker 3: can't afford show Hey, in a big situation if they
- 30:27Speaker 3: bring him out of the bullpen unless he goes the
- 30:29Speaker 3: outfield and you're gonna have to practice in the outfield
- 30:32Speaker 3: and he hasn't.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Done it, and he has a pitch out of the bullpen,
- 30:34Speaker 2: they don't.
- 30:35Speaker 3: They can't afford him getting hurt because he hasn't warmed
- 30:37Speaker 3: up in the bullpen, you know, to warm up and pitch.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Like everyone's like, oh, make him the closer.
- 30:41Speaker 2: He's never done that. He can't just.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but you want Trey you Savage on a bullpen
- 30:47Speaker 1: roster in the postseason, He's never done that either. Why
- 30:50Speaker 1: is it different for you Savage to be in there?
- 30:52Speaker 3: But he hasn't had two of these zippers on his arm,
- 30:54Speaker 3: because he zippers on his arm where they go, That's why.
- 31:00Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 31:01Speaker 3: He hasn't had two Tommy Johns, like like, show Hey,
- 31:04Speaker 3: I mean one Tommy John and one Nobody will tell
- 31:06Speaker 3: us what he had the second time because they don't
- 31:07Speaker 3: want to just say it.
- 31:08Speaker 2: But that's why.
- 31:09Speaker 3: And also Show Hayes listen, Trey Savage, they would they
- 31:12Speaker 3: would be careful with them, and they would use them
- 31:14Speaker 3: as a bulk guy to piggyback somebody.
- 31:16Speaker 2: That's what they would do. They wouldn't.
- 31:18Speaker 3: They wouldn't just say, hey, go throw three days in
- 31:21Speaker 3: a row. Some closers have to throw three days in
- 31:23Speaker 3: a row. And they're not gonna do that with Show Hey.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Until roll it out.
- 31:29Speaker 1: But he hasn't had any time in the outfield.
- 31:31Speaker 3: So right, and I can't wait to see what Dave
- 31:34Speaker 3: Dave Roberts has to say about it when he's pressed
- 31:37Speaker 3: more than just like questioned about it, and until show
- 31:42Speaker 3: Hay says, yes, I had internal bracing. It's a myth.
- 31:46Speaker 3: In my opinion, based on Show Hey, it's probably duct tape.
- 31:49Speaker 3: They probably duct tape part of his elbow together, and
- 31:51Speaker 3: he's like, I can play in this league with just
- 31:53Speaker 3: duct tape on my OLB.
- 31:56Speaker 1: They're sticking to the script, though, gentlemen, another five innings
- 31:59Speaker 1: last night from Show Hey. I mean that's about all
- 32:01Speaker 1: they're letting him go. I mean, you like that do
- 32:03Speaker 1: you like that they're sticking to the script? I mean,
- 32:05Speaker 1: is he is he throwing Game four?
- 32:08Speaker 2: Is he?
- 32:08Speaker 1: What is he doing? What is sho Hay's role in
- 32:10Speaker 1: the postseason for these Los Angeles Dodgers.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Go hit homers unless somebody gets hurt. And by the way,
- 32:15Speaker 3: I'm only going five killed my lock last night. I'm
- 32:17Speaker 3: just saying, oh, sorry, no, it's fine, but.
- 32:20Speaker 1: You should know better. I mean, that's all he's been doing.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I know, but he I thought last night he had
- 32:25Speaker 3: five no hit innings. I thought he could have at
- 32:26Speaker 3: least gone off to six. I mean, he was pretty
- 32:28Speaker 3: much cruising through that lineup, so they should have maybe
- 32:31Speaker 3: stuck with him a little bit longer. But what do
- 32:32Speaker 3: the Dodgers do in big games? They take their starters
- 32:36Speaker 3: out too early sometimes and then they cost them like
- 32:38Speaker 3: he did last night.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but to be fair, so did Kevin Cash and
- 32:43Speaker 1: the Dodgers won the World Series.
- 32:45Speaker 2: And they think people would have learned their lesson by now.
- 32:47Speaker 1: But they have, you would think, so, is that is
- 32:50Speaker 1: that the role? I mean, if somebody gets hurt, that's
- 32:53Speaker 1: the only time we're gonna see show Hay pitch or
- 32:55Speaker 1: we're just gonna wait until it's a five game series, Like,
- 32:58Speaker 1: what are we doing?
- 32:59Speaker 3: I disagree. I think he's starting. I think he's gonna
- 33:02Speaker 3: start because what game the game four? Okay, I think
- 33:08Speaker 3: he's Game four, and I think Kershaw's Game five. You're
- 33:11Speaker 3: not rolling it back around. You're having a five man rotation.
- 33:15Speaker 2: You can't.
- 33:16Speaker 3: You can't having a five man rotation. Okay, the first
- 33:22Speaker 3: team in history to have five five man rotation in
- 33:24Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 33:25Speaker 2: No chance, Alana, back me up here.
- 33:27Speaker 3: They're not doing that now, lost Yamamoto and Otani or
- 33:31Speaker 3: Kershaw maybe piggyback each other. That's the way it's gonna go.
- 33:34Speaker 3: There's no way that they're not gonna have a five
- 33:36Speaker 3: man rotation of five.
- 33:37Speaker 1: They're gonna carry thirty if.
- 33:39Speaker 2: They get to the five game series. If the Mets don't.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Beat them, thirteen pitchers, they're carrying thirteen pitchers.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Okay, fourteen fourteen technically because doesn't count, doesn't count.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 33:52Speaker 3: But but you can't. But you can't bring Yamamoto back.
- 33:56Speaker 3: That first series is gonna hamps never pick the nationally
- 34:00Speaker 3: has an extra off day. You can bring Yamamoto back.
- 34:02Speaker 3: You got plenty of time in the DS they got
- 34:05Speaker 3: the extra off day. I didn't know that. Well, first
- 34:09Speaker 3: of all, they got to get to the DS because
- 34:10Speaker 3: they're gonna have to play a wildcard series against the Mets, okay,
- 34:13Speaker 3: and then their.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Second series is probably gonna be against the Phillies.
- 34:17Speaker 3: So I'm thinking, are they gonna go if they're gonna
- 34:20Speaker 3: go five man rotation in a five in a five well,
- 34:23Speaker 3: first of all, Yamamo, it's gonna be interesting to see
- 34:25Speaker 3: who they start games one and two, because if if
- 34:27Speaker 3: they have to go three games in the division series.
- 34:30Speaker 3: I didn't know about the extra off day for them,
- 34:32Speaker 3: because then then it would then it would play out
- 34:35Speaker 3: for them. They would go Yamamoto in the wild card
- 34:38Speaker 3: first game, and he'd be able to throw. He'd be
- 34:40Speaker 3: able to throw Game two or maybe game three of
- 34:43Speaker 3: the National Legue Division Series, which then would mean show,
- 34:48Speaker 3: depending on how the Wildcard series go, show, Hey may
- 34:51Speaker 3: star game one in Philadelphia.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Hm.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I mean yeah, because if well, if you only are
- 35:01Speaker 1: you expecting all your starters to only give? I mean,
- 35:03Speaker 1: of course you would love them to go the distance,
- 35:05Speaker 1: but are you okay with five if each of your
- 35:08Speaker 1: starter can give you?
- 35:09Speaker 3: I think it's different this year. I know I'm going
- 35:11Speaker 3: against the trend of what the Dodgers have done, But
- 35:15Speaker 3: in the past few years, I've seen Dave Roberts and
- 35:19Speaker 3: more so their lineup make the changes to what they
- 35:23Speaker 3: need to do in the playoffs. Are they going to
- 35:25Speaker 3: go back to the age old third time through like
- 35:29Speaker 3: you're you're going to get cooked. Maybe, But I think
- 35:33Speaker 3: this year, because of the struggles recently down the stretch
- 35:37Speaker 3: of the bullpen, I think they may give some of
- 35:40Speaker 3: these guys a little bit of a longer leash the
- 35:45Speaker 3: third time through the lineup. So I don't think they're
- 35:47Speaker 3: going to go five and dive.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I think I hope you're right. I pray that you are.
- 35:53Speaker 2: In my opinion, I pray you that to.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Me is baseball go as deep, as long as you can,
- 35:58Speaker 1: as far as you can, as deep as you can.
- 36:00Speaker 1: And this bullpen is not good.
- 36:03Speaker 3: And Blake Snell is one of the best third time through.
- 36:06Speaker 3: He has one of the best batting average against or
- 36:09Speaker 3: batting average on balls and play against in.
- 36:13Speaker 2: All of baseball.
- 36:14Speaker 3: And I feel like the Dodgers can see that and
- 36:17Speaker 3: they see that value because right now they don't have
- 36:21Speaker 3: ken Lee Jansen coming out of the bullpen. They don't
- 36:24Speaker 3: have Eric Gania coming out of the bullpen. Their guys
- 36:27Speaker 3: are a little bit beaten up, and so you can't
- 36:29Speaker 3: get five or six innings out of them.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they've ridden them hard all season long, until you
- 36:36Speaker 1: got Glasnow back, until you got Snell back, until Yamamoto
- 36:39Speaker 1: could give you something until I mean, it's been it's
- 36:41Speaker 1: been a rough road for not just the Dodgers. I
- 36:43Speaker 1: understand there's been a lot of bullpens that have been
- 36:45Speaker 1: ridden really hard. But even you know, when these guys
- 36:49Speaker 1: that you've paid a lot of money to, the Tanner, Scott's,
- 36:51Speaker 1: the Kurby Eates, all the things, and they're not having
- 36:53Speaker 1: good years. I mean, Tanner's really really, really struggling this year.
- 36:56Speaker 1: So I hope to goodness that they let them these
- 36:59Speaker 1: guys see the third time through the lineup. I really do.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I really they won't. They won't. They have it. They
- 37:08Speaker 2: have it for years, so they won't.
- 37:11Speaker 3: And I can't really argue with a aj Is in
- 37:13Speaker 3: there on those manager meetings. He watches these games more
- 37:16Speaker 3: closely than anybody because he calls these games. It's hard
- 37:20Speaker 3: to say that they they won't pull them after five.
- 37:23Speaker 3: They won't pull them after six?
- 37:26Speaker 1: No, OK, so what if doing things what he did
- 37:29Speaker 1: last night? To your point of what you just said,
- 37:32Speaker 1: want to let.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Him go last night? It means less. You let him
- 37:35Speaker 2: go last night, it means less than in the playoff.
- 37:38Speaker 1: If it means more, wouldn't you let him stay?
- 37:41Speaker 3: No, he hasn't done it, Elana, he hasn't done it.
- 37:45Speaker 3: That's you don't understand. The Dodgers don't do this. Rich
- 37:48Speaker 3: Hill was throwing a no hitter and guess what they
- 37:49Speaker 3: did in the playoffs.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Against That was against the pirates and who cares the race.
- 37:54Speaker 2: They didn't win that year, but they didn't win the.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Middle of the season. Who cares? It was against the
- 37:59Speaker 1: no in the play How.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Else is that one? You're richell was dominating and they
- 38:02Speaker 2: took them out.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I think we were talking about against the Buckos and
- 38:06Speaker 1: it went into ten innings and the Dodgers couldn't score
- 38:08Speaker 1: a run to save his life. In case you missed it,
- 38:10Speaker 1: yesterday's fight and fills. The victory over the Los Angeles
- 38:14Speaker 1: Dodgers gave him a six and a half game lead
- 38:16Speaker 1: over LA. That's the number two seed in the NL Playoff,
- 38:18Speaker 1: which includes a first round by we know how difficult
- 38:22Speaker 1: it is to play at Citizens Bank, We know how
- 38:25Speaker 1: difficult the fight and Phills are. Are they the best team?
- 38:28Speaker 1: Are you still going with Dodgers AJ and that rotation
- 38:31Speaker 1: is better than the Phillies overall?
- 38:34Speaker 3: Yeah, until someone beats the Dodgers, there's still number one
- 38:36Speaker 3: of my power rankings, and they'll never move even if
- 38:39Speaker 3: they you know what, even after they lose, I might
- 38:41Speaker 3: keep them number one of my power rankings just for fun.
- 38:44Speaker 3: But no, listen, I've said this, there's no bigger there's
- 38:48Speaker 3: no bigger thing going right now than the Phillies and
- 38:50Speaker 3: Brewers for the one seed in the National League and
- 38:53Speaker 3: who gets home field advantage because of the Bank and
- 38:57Speaker 3: what it means Citizens Bank, and also what American family
- 38:59Speaker 3: feel means to the to the Brewers. The Brews have
- 39:02Speaker 3: been better on the road than the Phillies, but going
- 39:04Speaker 3: to going to Philadelphia is a different animal, especially in
- 39:07Speaker 3: the postseason. It's one of my favorite atmosphers I've ever
- 39:10Speaker 3: been to for postseason games. So listen, it means it
- 39:13Speaker 3: means a lot if they can catch the Brewers for that. Plus,
- 39:16Speaker 3: it'll make Murph's letter look bad because because he's in
- 39:22Speaker 3: the letter, You guys got the best record in baseball.
- 39:25Speaker 3: If they don't end up with that, then I don't know.
- 39:27Speaker 1: You know, well, that letter had a lot of different
- 39:31Speaker 1: interesting things. Phillies also series against the Dodgers, guys, giving
- 39:36Speaker 1: them the tiebreaker. The Phillies are one and a half
- 39:38Speaker 1: games behind the brew Crew, as you just mentioned, AJ
- 39:40Speaker 1: for that number one seed. Who's more dangerous? Though season
- 39:44Speaker 1: and today, game starts tomorrow. I'm more worried about the
- 39:47Speaker 1: Phillies than I am the Brewers.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I think the ceilings the ceilings higher for the Phillies
- 39:53Speaker 3: for sure. But keep keep batting against the Brewers. Keep
- 39:58Speaker 3: batting against the Brewers. See how see how that's worked
- 40:00Speaker 3: out for everybody. They figure out how to win.
- 40:04Speaker 2: And I think yes.
- 40:06Speaker 1: In the regular season, postseason.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Absolutely, But I think Freddy Peralta, this is the best
- 40:10Speaker 3: Freddy Peralta that we've seen.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Okay, why what do you like.
- 40:15Speaker 3: The fact that he's getting more strikeouts with his secondary
- 40:19Speaker 3: pitches and he actually throws He's now going into that
- 40:22Speaker 3: like status where he'll kind of throw his fastball, yes, yes, curveball, yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 3: guy gets on base. You're seeing a different pitch, You're
- 40:31Speaker 3: seeing a lockdown heater. You're seeing him elevate that pitch
- 40:35Speaker 3: a little bit more, with a little bit more ride.
- 40:37Speaker 3: He like he has another gear, and I think that
- 40:40Speaker 3: is the difference. That's like the next step for when
- 40:42Speaker 3: pitchers really take it to the next level.
- 40:45Speaker 2: And I think it.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Looks like he's there when I watch one of his starts.
- 40:48Speaker 1: All right, So this is an interesting thing. I know
- 40:52Speaker 1: we continue to look at the NL wild Card standings,
- 40:54Speaker 1: but that's why this type of time of year is
- 40:56Speaker 1: such a blast, because if you look at the schedule.
- 40:59Speaker 1: After today's game versus San Francisco guys, it gets harder.
- 41:03Speaker 1: They have three versus the Philadelphia Phillies, three versus the
- 41:05Speaker 1: Los Angeles Daughters three at San Diego. So listen, it's
- 41:11Speaker 1: it's not going to be that easy, a j. You
- 41:14Speaker 1: don't care what you guys are done with this, Like
- 41:17Speaker 1: Mets are in diamond.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Can I say the Mets are in? The Mets have
- 41:20Speaker 3: a three game lead, they're in. I can't say it anymore. Alana,
- 41:24Speaker 3: I don't know why we keep bringing up repeatedly.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Because it's not story.
- 41:31Speaker 3: There are two games over five hundred, Okay, if they
- 41:34Speaker 3: if they had Suarez and Merrill Kelly and Josh Naylor
- 41:37Speaker 3: and everyone else they could have had would be thinking
- 41:40Speaker 3: about it might be seven games over and be in
- 41:42Speaker 3: the playoffs, but they traded everybody away. Listen, Corbyn Carrol
- 41:46Speaker 3: deserves a ton of credit, could tell Martes having a
- 41:48Speaker 3: nice year for missing a bunch of time.
- 41:50Speaker 2: But they're not getting in. It's gonna be like last year.
- 41:53Speaker 2: They might win, well, they're not gonna get to eighty nine,
- 41:55Speaker 2: but they might win.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Eighty six games and not get in because they started
- 41:59Speaker 3: too little, too late. I mean, the story there, the
- 42:03Speaker 3: story there, and I'll watch Diamondbacks games for the story
- 42:08Speaker 3: of Corbyn Carroll, what he's doing this year and really
- 42:12Speaker 3: what he's like doing as of late. I mean, you're
- 42:15Speaker 3: talking about a guy of thirty homers. He's gonna get
- 42:17Speaker 3: two more bags. He's gonna be a thirty to thirty
- 42:19Speaker 3: guy probably now an outside chance because he hasn't had
- 42:22Speaker 3: triple in a minute to be like the last twenty
- 42:26Speaker 3: twenty twenty twenty twenty guy. Since Curtis Granderson and Jimmy
- 42:30Speaker 3: Rollins both did it like that's a feat. So the
- 42:34Speaker 3: diamond Backs story is exactly what the Diamondbacks as a
- 42:38Speaker 3: team wrote at the trade deadline, you know what all
- 42:42Speaker 3: we really got left is Corbyn Carroll. They didn't get
- 42:45Speaker 3: rid of Gallon because they he wasn't pitching very well
- 42:47Speaker 3: at the time. Now he's been nails since the trade deadline.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Maybe there was a little bit of pressure there. Maybe
- 42:53Speaker 3: he was, you know, feeling that like, Okay, I gotta perform.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Now it's like, oh, I'm not getting traded, and he's
- 42:59Speaker 3: settled in very nicely. But they just they don't They
- 43:03Speaker 3: don't have enough. It's like the Guardians in the other side.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I feel like they just don't have enough to catch
- 43:09Speaker 3: them and have their awful stretch.
- 43:14Speaker 1: One hundred percent agree with you, because I don't want
- 43:16Speaker 1: the Diamondbacks to get in just to poop it out
- 43:20Speaker 1: in the first round, you know what I mean, Like,
- 43:22Speaker 1: if you don't have enough to like go the distance,
- 43:25Speaker 1: then don't get in.
- 43:27Speaker 3: And they have they have they have lost some key pieces,
- 43:30Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Yeah, justin Martinez, Corbyn Burns,
- 43:35Speaker 3: I mean Jordan Montgomery, you know, I guess he's been
- 43:37Speaker 3: out the whole year from Montgomery was in Milwaukee the
- 43:40Speaker 3: other day, by the way, I saw him, and I
- 43:43Speaker 3: was like, why is he here, Oh, the Brewers. I
- 43:47Speaker 3: completely forgot that. But he's he's traded to the Brewers.
- 43:52Speaker 2: He got traded them.
- 43:53Speaker 3: He was doing some award thing with his wife, which
- 43:56Speaker 3: is great, but I was like, I said, why is
- 43:58Speaker 3: Jordan Montgomery here? And they're like, oh, he's introducing himself
- 44:01Speaker 3: to all of his teammates and all of the people.
- 44:03Speaker 3: And I'm like, he's never even going to play here,
- 44:06Speaker 3: So I mean, does he consider is he considered part
- 44:08Speaker 3: of the Brewers?
- 44:09Speaker 2: If they win? Does he get a ring?
- 44:11Speaker 3: He gets a ring, he gets a playoff share. And
- 44:14Speaker 3: I found that out. I found that out because there
- 44:16Speaker 3: was a dude that milked the milk the DL in
- 44:20Speaker 3: il but it was a DL then in eighteen and
- 44:23Speaker 3: we didn't want to vote him a playoff share because
- 44:26Speaker 3: he was just sucking money. And they said, you can't
- 44:29Speaker 3: unvote somebody a playoff share that's injured but is technically
- 44:34Speaker 3: on their roster. So he's technically on their forty man roster.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Have you guys ever voted any portion of a playoff
- 44:42Speaker 1: share to a broadcaster of any type?
- 44:46Speaker 2: No, not a playoff share?
- 44:48Speaker 1: You guys suck so bad? What with you guys?
- 44:51Speaker 2: Because we're with you.
- 44:52Speaker 1: The whole time.
- 44:54Speaker 3: So hold on, I'm going to ask you a question
- 44:59Speaker 3: there during the playoff Slona, and that's all the matters.
- 45:01Speaker 2: So that's why playoffs share.
- 45:05Speaker 1: How dare you I was with you? I was with
- 45:06Speaker 1: the team every single day, even through the playoffs.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Well, I was really giving you a playoffs share.
- 45:14Speaker 3: This is gonna hurt your feelings. I'm still gonna say it.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Do you think the players look at Alana Rizzo on
- 45:22Speaker 3: the sideline and go, she helped us win this game?
- 45:27Speaker 2: No?
- 45:28Speaker 3: So I think that's where like we've voted, we've voted
- 45:33Speaker 3: massage therapists, we voted uh scouts that were never even
- 45:39Speaker 3: big lely scouts, like scouts in the minor leagues playoff shares.
- 45:44Speaker 3: One time, one time I was in the meeting the guy,
- 45:48Speaker 3: a guy's name got brought up. I won't say what
- 45:50Speaker 3: team it was, but he would pick. He would pick
- 45:54Speaker 3: like pictures tells Like that was one of his job
- 45:57Speaker 3: was picking pictures tells. Well, obviously the picture end of
- 46:00Speaker 3: the season, they're like one of the pictures put his
- 46:03Speaker 3: hand up and they were like, yeah, give him a
- 46:05Speaker 3: quarter share, give him a half share. Picture goes, who
- 46:08Speaker 3: the heck? Is that the guy have no idea who
- 46:11Speaker 3: that is. They're like, oh, it's the guy that sits
- 46:13Speaker 3: next to this guy. He's like, he's like, I'm not
- 46:15Speaker 3: giving him half a share, and all the hitters were like,
- 46:18Speaker 3: well he actually uh he found a lot of stuff.
- 46:21Speaker 2: We like this guy. They're like, well, then you give
- 46:23Speaker 2: him a bonus. Don't take it out of my bonus.
- 46:26Speaker 3: So sorry, never, never, never, Broadcasters don't matter.
- 46:32Speaker 2: You want to see fight being a playoff share meeting.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I can only imagine. I can only imagine how that gets.
- 46:40Speaker 3: And you forget people, oh man, and you forget people,
- 46:43Speaker 3: and then it's the work, and you feel terrible.
- 46:45Speaker 1: If it's a it's life changing for a lot of
- 46:49Speaker 1: like like a bullpen catcher or whatever. You know what
- 46:51Speaker 1: you know, there's like folks that it's absolutely life changing for.
- 46:54Speaker 1: So you got to do your due diligence. And sideline
- 46:57Speaker 1: reporters apparently not one of those folk. All right, coming back,
- 47:00Speaker 1: we're gonna get it.
- 47:02Speaker 3: I've done like, I've done a bunch. I've done some
- 47:04Speaker 3: Dodger games this year. If they win a World Series,
- 47:06Speaker 3: do I got a playoff share?
- 47:07Speaker 1: Because I did not with them every single day though,
- 47:11Speaker 1: you have to. I'm talking about like every single day
- 47:13Speaker 1: I was with them, like a sideline reporter, like a
- 47:15Speaker 1: Julia Morales of the Astros or a Sophia Minnert of
- 47:18Speaker 1: the Brewers, or you know, like people that are there
- 47:21Speaker 1: every single even even though National comes in and takes
- 47:24Speaker 1: over the postseason games, They're still they're doing their jobs
- 47:29Speaker 1: doing all those things. So I'm not talking about like
- 47:31Speaker 1: random folks that just come in and, you know, cover
- 47:33Speaker 1: four games of the season. Yes, I get a ring,
- 47:35Speaker 1: but I'd rather have the money.
- 47:38Speaker 2: No, that ring is that ring is? That ring is super.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Between between a ring that's in the safe because it's
- 47:47Speaker 1: too big for me to wear, or a playoff share.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I'm taking the playoff share. Guys, come on now, you.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Can't show off your money. You can show off your ring.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Oh you can show off money. You can show off.
- 47:59Speaker 2: A lot. I mean list all due respect. What was
- 48:01Speaker 2: that Kanye song? I ain't saying she a gold digger.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I just said you want the money. He just said
- 48:09Speaker 2: you want all the money.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I do want the money, and.
- 48:13Speaker 2: After eighteen years drives off with the kids. After eight If.
- 48:21Speaker 3: You ain't seeing a lot of that play Alta in
- 48:23Speaker 3: Sacramento Alta, Non Sacramento, Boston Halla.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Okay, Alana, time out of slap hands. And this is
- 48:42Speaker 1: where we're at in life. Tim Healy had this to say.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Alex Chorus said on W E E I that Roman
- 48:47Speaker 1: Anthony walked on the treadmill for twenty five minutes. His
- 48:50Speaker 1: oblique is still sore. Yesterday he told me it was
- 48:52Speaker 1: a great walk. Chorus said, this is where we're at,
- 48:56Speaker 1: you guys, I mean Anthony. Roman Anthony obviously was such
- 48:59Speaker 1: a jolt for that Red Sox team and now they
- 49:02Speaker 1: are behind the Houston Astros as far as that wild
- 49:05Speaker 1: card spot is concerned. This is not good. Aj Obliques
- 49:10Speaker 1: hamstrings are tricky calves. You mentioned it. The stinks, Yeah.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Toasted stinks for the Red Sox. They need them back.
- 49:16Speaker 3: They'd to be a nice piece to have to get
- 49:17Speaker 3: back and stinks. He went down, But get better. Hopefully
- 49:21Speaker 3: he get better quick. They can heal quick too, though,
- 49:24Speaker 3: I'll say that. But the problem is can you get
- 49:25Speaker 3: enough swings somehow because you got to get some game
- 49:28Speaker 3: like swings before you come back from this, because you
- 49:30Speaker 3: don't want to have it happen again.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Chris, did you have a bleak issues ever. Oh that's good.
- 49:36Speaker 3: I did something to my rib one time, and I
- 49:38Speaker 3: know that hurt, but that was like more like intercostal,
- 49:41Speaker 3: like upper oblique. I've just seen guys deal with it.
- 49:44Speaker 3: I just I don't know. Let's put it this way.
- 49:48Speaker 3: I think they're six and ten or five and nine
- 49:54Speaker 3: since he has gone on the eye.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they definitely have a losing record without him, There's
- 49:59Speaker 1: no question about it. And you're having you know, you
- 50:01Speaker 1: want your postseason chances hanging on the balance of a
- 50:03Speaker 1: twenty one year old. I mean that's not that's not enough.
- 50:05Speaker 1: All right, Kratz hats? What do you got? I'm going
- 50:07Speaker 1: with Tennessee Orange Tennessee volunteers.
- 50:11Speaker 2: If I had some college hats, I would wear them. Ah.
- 50:14Speaker 3: He used to astros need to they need to turn
- 50:17Speaker 3: it around. I'm not saying they're going to get caught,
- 50:19Speaker 3: but they need to turn it around. And what do
- 50:21Speaker 3: they always do turn it around?
- 50:24Speaker 1: They turn it around. All right, Well, it's been a
- 50:26Speaker 1: pleasure being with you both today. We appreciate it. We
