Speaker 1: Hi, Catherine, Hi Chelsea, how are you? And well, how's
• 0:03
Speaker 1: your new abode? Catherine and Brad moved into a new house,
• 0:07
Speaker 1: you guys, we did. We bought a house. You guys
• 0:10
Speaker 1: heard about it here when we had put in an
• 0:12
Speaker 1: offer on the house. But it's going great. There's so
• 0:15
Speaker 1: many projects, but we're really enjoying doing the projects so well.
• 0:19
Speaker 1: Isn't that just a happy homemaking story. What a success story.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: And you sent me a beautiful picture of the sunset
• 0:24
Speaker 1: from your house the other night that I was blown
• 0:26
Speaker 1: away by. Yes, it it's gorgeous out there because we're
• 0:30
Speaker 1: right at the base of the mountains and so every
• 0:32
Speaker 1: night the sunset lights them up, all orange and salmon,
• 0:35
Speaker 1: and then we just had this incredible from pinks to
• 0:38
Speaker 1: oranges to purple's. It was just it was just gorgeous. Well,
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: that's great, and I mean there's also a red blood
• 0:45
Speaker 1: moon coming tonight. We are recording this on Tuesday, November eight,
• 0:49
Speaker 1: which is election day, to air on Thursday, November ten,
• 0:51
Speaker 1: where we will know the results unless there are fifty
• 0:53
Speaker 1: thousand lawsuits still happening at that time, which is a possibility. Yes,
• 0:58
Speaker 1: but there's a blood red moon Hopefully it's not like
• 1:01
Speaker 1: a port end of doom. It is. I after I
• 1:04
Speaker 1: spoke to that astrologist, Jade Luna. He's on Instagram as
• 1:08
Speaker 1: Jade Saluna. I did my annual forecast with him actually
• 1:12
Speaker 1: last night, well go back, I did. I had some
• 1:14
Speaker 1: shows this weekend, and uh, I did another reading with him,
• 1:18
Speaker 1: and he was explaining to me how all the planets,
• 1:21
Speaker 1: whether they're in your sign or not, can dictate what's
• 1:24
Speaker 1: happening now. And I'm and I believe that. And he said,
• 1:27
Speaker 1: if Donald Trump is able to run in, Jupiter is
• 1:30
Speaker 1: through his sign, is moving through his sign that year,
• 1:33
Speaker 1: which is almost unstoppable, which means he will have so
• 1:36
Speaker 1: much good career fortune that he will be unbeatable if
• 1:39
Speaker 1: he runs in. So hopefully he'll be arrested or put
• 1:43
Speaker 1: down before then. I mean, I UM have some shows
• 1:47
Speaker 1: coming up this weekend Rockford, Illinois. My sister in law
• 1:51
Speaker 1: is going to a friend, Julie, who loves this podcast. Friday,
• 1:56
Speaker 1: November eleven, I'm in Rockford, Illinois. Saturday night I'm in
• 2:00
Speaker 1: in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and then Sunday night i am in Rosemont, Illinois.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: And then Thursday the following Thursday, I have two shows
• 2:09
Speaker 1: in Tampa, Florida at the Hard Rock Casino, So what
• 2:12
Speaker 1: else was I going to say? Oh? Yes, I got
• 2:15
Speaker 1: very intoxicated this weekend and it was really hard to
• 2:17
Speaker 1: shake it. Where were you partying, Tucson? Surprisingly, yes, we
• 2:23
Speaker 1: unexpectedly went out after the Tucson show. We all got
• 2:26
Speaker 1: very Actually, no, I think I was the one who
• 2:28
Speaker 1: got the most intoxicated, and then we got up. I
• 2:31
Speaker 1: went to the gym in the morning because I like
• 2:33
Speaker 1: to do the gym no matter what happens. But I
• 2:35
Speaker 1: quickly turned around and realized that I had no business
• 2:39
Speaker 1: being inside the gym because I just did not feel right.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: Some people can, like they swear, by sweating out your hangover.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: That was my intention, and I can't do it. No.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: I did about fifteen minutes of an ABS class and
• 2:50
Speaker 1: then I gave up my exercise. With a hangover is
• 2:54
Speaker 1: like going to the bathroom and throwing up and then
• 2:56
Speaker 1: going back to bed. That's all I can do. So
• 2:59
Speaker 1: so anyway, I finally recovered, but it took a minute. Yeah.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: We went to a lot of Republican areas this weekend,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: Colorado Springs and Tucson, and they were both awesome. Shows.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: So it's just nice to have my people everywhere I go. Yeah,
• 3:12
Speaker 1: I mean Phoenix and Tucson, like those areas. They're such
• 3:15
Speaker 1: like fun foodie towns actually, and they've got cute places
• 3:19
Speaker 1: to go out. It's kind of lovely. Well, the airport
• 3:22
Speaker 1: in Tucson is a little bit like a correctional facility.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: There's no one there, and the people who are working
• 3:27
Speaker 1: there look like armed guards and are like and there's there,
• 3:29
Speaker 1: and there may as well be cageous in the airport
• 3:31
Speaker 1: because that's how it feels. My security guy was like,
• 3:33
Speaker 1: you stay in the car, will be check you into
• 3:35
Speaker 1: the flight. And I was like, okay, And usually that's
• 3:37
Speaker 1: like five or ten minutes, and then it was thirty minutes.
• 3:40
Speaker 1: I texted my sister and I was like, Hey, what's up.
• 3:42
Speaker 1: And she's like, you don't want to see what's going
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: on in here. And she's like, there's a woman. There's
• 3:46
Speaker 1: one woman working ticket counter for the entire airline and
• 3:50
Speaker 1: she's never never done this before. Clearly than well, yes,
• 3:58
Speaker 1: of course, of course, what else could I possibly do?
• 4:03
Speaker 1: I just read a good book. If anyone's looking for
• 4:05
Speaker 1: a good book. Signifiers, Okay, I just finished that over
• 4:11
Speaker 1: the weekend and then I gave it right away to
• 4:13
Speaker 1: a friend whose birthday it was. Yeah, that was a
• 4:14
Speaker 1: really good book. So that's it's about life. It's about
• 4:18
Speaker 1: all these different characters living on the street and like
• 4:21
Speaker 1: different times in their lives, and it just kind of
• 4:23
Speaker 1: connects everybody. And it's a lot about the stars and
• 4:25
Speaker 1: the galaxy and how everybody's connected and how you know,
• 4:29
Speaker 1: life is like how time is a continuum, and it's cool.
• 4:32
Speaker 1: It was like I was open to that. You know,
• 4:35
Speaker 1: I'm much more open to all of that stuff now,
• 4:37
Speaker 1: so when I read it, I like it. I feel
• 4:38
Speaker 1: like they're speaking to me. Yeah, it's it's fun. And
• 4:40
Speaker 1: we've got actually some very fun sort of woo woo
• 4:43
Speaker 1: guests coming coming up. Oh yeah, we do. We've booked
• 4:46
Speaker 1: a lot of fun guests like that. I think recently
• 4:50
Speaker 1: sort of found out that a lot of listeners to
• 4:52
Speaker 1: show are into that stuff, which we are too, so
• 4:54
Speaker 1: it works out. Yeah, we have Laura Lynn Jackson coming
• 4:57
Speaker 1: on the show was one of my favorites, and then
• 5:01
Speaker 1: the media, Yeah, we're going to book him. I do
• 5:04
Speaker 1: have to say I'm a little bit of a skeptic
• 5:06
Speaker 1: of his stuff in particular because I'm like, can't you
• 5:08
Speaker 1: google that? But I don't know. Everybody gets really blown away.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: Well maybe we can just have callers call in and
• 5:15
Speaker 1: then he has no prior knowledge of them. I love
• 5:18
Speaker 1: that because he can't do me or you because that's
• 5:20
Speaker 1: easily researchable. Right, Okay, I like this. I kind of
• 5:24
Speaker 1: want him to prove himself to me. I want to believe.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: I want to believe. Yeah, I want to believe to Yeah.
• 5:31
Speaker 1: I like to believe in that stuff because it just
• 5:32
Speaker 1: makes everything more tolerable and it's more fun, especially when
• 5:35
Speaker 1: people die. It's like there's nothing comforting you could say
• 5:37
Speaker 1: to anybody wants somebody's dead, except for the fact that
• 5:40
Speaker 1: they're not really gone and that they're always around you
• 5:42
Speaker 1: and nobody's energy will ever really die. I fully believe that,
• 5:46
Speaker 1: but it's also like proven by quantum physics. I'm pretty
• 5:48
Speaker 1: sure yes it is. Whatever that is. Where where did
• 5:51
Speaker 1: your other thermisco? You're one that you've haven't been able
• 5:54
Speaker 1: to let go since ma Orca. I have to tell you,
• 5:57
Speaker 1: I lost it. I went to Disneyland. Oh god, well
• 6:00
Speaker 1: that was the first mistake. Catherine with your hard boiled eggs.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: Did you take your hard boiled eggs to Disneyland. I didn't,
• 6:06
Speaker 1: but I didn't have a smoothie in the car. But listen,
• 6:08
Speaker 1: I was like, they're gonna have Christmas stuff up. I'm
• 6:11
Speaker 1: not into it yet. Halloween just happened. I went ham
• 6:15
Speaker 1: on all of the Christmas merch. I currently have a
• 6:18
Speaker 1: Mickey tumbler for my coffee. He is dressed in a
• 6:22
Speaker 1: Santa hat. Oh, I just I bought it all. Catherine
• 6:26
Speaker 1: and I couldn't be more different. Would Brad take you
• 6:29
Speaker 1: to Disneyland? No, I go with one of my girlfriends.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: We do a podcast called Driving to Disneyland. Brad are
• 6:36
Speaker 1: you there? Are you on board with this or what? Brad?
• 6:42
Speaker 1: Men aren't allowed to talk on this podcast, muted him. Yeah,
• 6:46
Speaker 1: never gone. Well we do, man. We have a straight man,
• 6:48
Speaker 1: you guys as our guest today on the podcast. Is
• 6:50
Speaker 1: that the first time, no, Mike Berbiglia, we've had some
• 6:53
Speaker 1: straight yeah. Justin Long Oh yeah, Justin. I love him.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: I ran into him and his girlfriend keep on with
• 7:00
Speaker 1: at the airport. They're so cute. I love watching people
• 7:02
Speaker 1: and young love. Yeah. They seem so happy. I know, yeah,
• 7:07
Speaker 1: everyone's happy in the beginning. Okay, Oh yeah, our guest today.
• 7:10
Speaker 1: You're gonna love him well, you know him because he's
• 7:13
Speaker 1: He's one hot mess and I respect it. Our next
• 7:16
Speaker 1: guest has the I Am Rappaport Stereo podcast. He's on
• 7:20
Speaker 1: tour doing live shows. All tickets and dates are at
• 7:22
  Speaker 1: Michael Rappaport Comedy dot com. That's r A P A
• 7:26
Speaker 1: p O r T. Please welcome the very disruptive Michael Rappaport. Hi, Michael,
• 7:32
Speaker 1: you hello, what's up? Hoem? Skillet are better now that
• 7:37
Speaker 1: Adidas dropped Kanye You look dashing as always, Michael. Ha ha.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: This is my co host, Catherine. I'm good, I'm good, Michael.
• 7:50
Speaker 1: Tell me the morning that we're recording is is the
• 7:52
Speaker 1: morning I woke up and saw that Adidas finally dropped
• 7:54
Speaker 1: Kanye West. What do you think took Adidas two and
• 7:57
Speaker 1: a half weeks to drop Kanye West? I mean, as
• 8:00
Speaker 1: far as Adidas dropping Kanye West, I'm sure his business,
• 8:06
  Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure it's business. I'm sure he's deep
• 8:08
Speaker 1: in that company. Yeah, because him calling them out and
• 8:12
Speaker 1: saying there there's no way that they can fire me,
• 8:14
Speaker 1: There's no way they can fire me almost led me
• 8:15
Speaker 1: to believe that he had some stipulation in his contract
• 8:18
Speaker 1: that like allowed for either freedom of speech or something about,
• 8:22
Speaker 1: you know, being able to voice his opinions or something.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: Because he was so confident. I mean, not that anything
• 8:27
Speaker 1: he says is that reliable, since he's clearly off of
• 8:30
Speaker 1: his meds. But I was like, does he have something
• 8:33
Speaker 1: going with Adidas where they're not allowed to fire him
• 8:35
Speaker 1: for being racist and anti Semitic. It seemed like that.
• 8:39
Speaker 1: That's that seems like why it took so long to me.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: But you know, as far as Adidas in all these
• 8:46
Speaker 1: places severing ties with him, and because I've been thinking
• 8:49
Speaker 1: a lot about it and talking a lot about it.
• 8:51
Speaker 1: The whole thing is he didn't invent anti Semitism. But
• 8:55
Speaker 1: but what he did do in the last two weeks
• 8:58
Speaker 1: with talking on these platforms and these platforms continuing to
• 9:02
Speaker 1: let him speak, even down to this Lex Friedman, fucking
• 9:04
Speaker 1: guy who put him on a two and a half
• 9:06
Speaker 1: hour podcast just last night which I listened to. And
• 9:10
Speaker 1: he's Jewish and he allegedly has family members that were
• 9:17
Speaker 1: killed in the Holocaust And to sit there and you know,
• 9:20
Speaker 1: be belittled and try to sort of massage this guy
• 9:23
Speaker 1: office points and you know, and then those people at
• 9:26
Speaker 1: the four or five freeway. That's the ramifications of him
• 9:31
Speaker 1: talking that way. It's the same thing with Trump when
• 9:34
Speaker 1: you sort of embolden these people. And you the thing
• 9:37
Speaker 1: about Trump that's smarter than Kanye s that Trump is
• 9:40
Speaker 1: the the king. He has the art of implication, implicative
• 9:46
Speaker 1: speaking down to a t. He he does it better
• 9:49
Speaker 1: than anyone I've ever heard. He'll say everything without saying it.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: That's why he's never in trouble because he'll skirt around it.
• 9:56
Speaker 1: Kanye's just sucking saying all the ship. And it's just
• 9:59
Speaker 1: like to the point where Trump even said, this guy's
• 10:02
Speaker 1: fucking nuts and he needs help. And you know, if
• 10:05
Speaker 1: Trump is saying this guy's nuts and you need to help,
• 10:08
Speaker 1: you're you're in bad shape. But may mean just the
• 10:11
Speaker 1: whole thing is it's not good, you know, and you
• 10:14
Speaker 1: have to do soul searching because if you won't accept
• 10:18
Speaker 1: the anti Jewish talk, then you have to really be
• 10:21
Speaker 1: down not to accept it across the board. It can't
• 10:24
Speaker 1: be you pick and choose the people that you're gonna
• 10:27
Speaker 1: stand by and defend or stand up for. I don't know,
• 10:30
Speaker 1: it's been an interesting time because you never would have
• 10:32
Speaker 1: thought Kanye West would have been sort of the spokesperson
• 10:35
Speaker 1: for anti Semitism. Two. It's just a sort of a
• 10:39
Speaker 1: far like a far out thing. It's gonna be one
• 10:41
Speaker 1: of those things when you look back at the year two.
• 10:43
Speaker 1: This will be like a highlighted part twenty years sort
• 10:46
Speaker 1: of like, oh ship. Remember when Kanye West was saying
• 10:49
Speaker 1: the wildest ship that I've ever heard about Jewish people
• 10:52
Speaker 1: publicly from a successful person, Like he's saying everything. But
• 10:56
Speaker 1: you know, then you think, like will he be back?
• 10:58
Speaker 1: Will he is? They're coming back from him? Because mel
• 11:01
Speaker 1: Gibson is is. I don't think mel Gibson ever publicly apologized.
• 11:04
Speaker 1: I don't know if he did. I think he wrote
• 11:06
Speaker 1: wrote a statement, but I don't know for sure if
• 11:09
Speaker 1: you ever publicly apologized for his stuff. And you know,
• 11:12
Speaker 1: I'm sure it's excuse to me he was on drugs
• 11:14
Speaker 1: where he was drinking and and and you know, Kanye
• 11:17
Speaker 1: probably said this, he was in a mental breakdown and
• 11:18
Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah, and and whether you accept
• 11:21
Speaker 1: those apologies is up teaching individual. I guess. So what
• 11:25
Speaker 1: it was the podcast of the Freedman podcast, what what
• 11:27
Speaker 1: kind of conversation. I mean, how did that go well?
• 11:30
Speaker 1: The Freeman podcast. He's an engineer, he's one of these
• 11:33
Speaker 1: smart guys, got a popular podcast. You know, he's one
• 11:37
Speaker 1: of these sort of Joe Rogan has had him on.
• 11:39
Speaker 1: He's one of these guys and their friends, and he's Jewish,
• 11:43
Speaker 1: and he was trying to sort of explain to him
• 11:45
Speaker 1: why he was doing a fair job. And he was
• 11:47
Speaker 1: attempting to articulate why saying the Jewish media and why
• 11:53
Speaker 1: saying these broad stroke statements are are not right, They're
• 11:56
Speaker 1: not good, they're not acceptable. Why don't you just name names?
• 12:00
Speaker 1: You get more done if you just say Jim, Alex,
• 12:04
Speaker 1: Frank and Tommy. Are these people from these companies have
• 12:07
Speaker 1: sucked me over? And this manager has fucked me over,
• 12:10
Speaker 1: like instead of making these broad sweeping shows, and he
• 12:13
Speaker 1: was trying to do that. The thing that frustrated me
• 12:16
Speaker 1: is that it was going nowhere to the point where
• 12:19
Speaker 1: he convinced him you shouldn't say Jewish media. And then
• 12:21
Speaker 1: Kanye West was like, Okay, I'll just say jam and
• 12:25
Speaker 1: that's where you go. Suck my dick the interviews over,
• 12:28
Speaker 1: Get the funk off my show. As far as I'm
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: concerned as far as I'm because they're because you're we're
• 12:33
Speaker 1: handling this guy with kick clubs, because he makes good
• 12:35
Speaker 1: songs and he makes good sneakers, and inevitably you should
• 12:38
Speaker 1: just be told, just like everybody else, to suck my dick.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: Interviews over. That's it, that's how he needs to be treated.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: But because he's famous, I think people are like tiptoe
• 12:48
Speaker 1: around it. This guy seemed like he was tiptoe around it. Yeah,
• 12:51
Speaker 1: I mean, even to give him a platform at this
• 12:53
Speaker 1: point just seems stupid, Like it's not like he's going
• 12:55
Speaker 1: to be convinced. You're not dealing with a rational person.
• 12:57
Speaker 1: You're dealing with like a terrorist, you know what I mean.
• 12:59
Speaker 1: And if say, if that's your friend, take him to dinner.
• 13:02
Speaker 1: If you if you care about him, take him to
• 13:04
Speaker 1: dinner and don't fill me like you know, like if
• 13:06
Speaker 1: you want to explain to him your point of view
• 13:08
Speaker 1: and that really is your friend, go I have a
• 13:10
Speaker 1: private dinner somewhere. Take him to get a lobotomy, do
• 13:14
Speaker 1: something you just can't rationalize with someone who's in their
• 13:17
Speaker 1: mental illness choosing to not get treatment totally not rational
• 13:21
Speaker 1: and having a manic episode. But we don't know, you know,
• 13:25
Speaker 1: this idea of in their mental illness having a manic episode.
• 13:29
  Speaker 1: I haven't seen his paperwork, have you. I haven't seen
• 13:32
Speaker 1: his diagnosis. Of course he's said he has bipolar disorder,
• 13:36
Speaker 1: but we don't really know. It's not an excuse, it's
• 13:39
Speaker 1: it's when I'm not on my lexa pro when not
• 13:42
Speaker 1: when when I'm not hopped up on my twenty MILEXI pro.
• 13:45
Speaker 1: I was just about to ask what kind of medication
• 13:47
Speaker 1: you're on. I'm just on twenty mgs of a little lexepro.
• 13:50
Speaker 1: That's all a little more stabilizing, just keeps me, you know,
• 13:54
Speaker 1: keep in the pocket. I had to learn what that
• 13:58
Speaker 1: me and that phrase Matt and keep you in the pocket.
• 14:00
Speaker 1: Somebody said that. They were like, oh, you were so
• 14:02
Speaker 1: in the pocket? I go, what does that mean? I
• 14:04
Speaker 1: didn't even know what that phrase was. You didn't know.
• 14:07
  Speaker 1: I don't know how I missed that one. It's a
• 14:08
Speaker 1: pretty big one. Is a music it's a music well
• 14:12
Speaker 1: I think it's from a music thing. But you you say,
• 14:14
Speaker 1: probably as a would somebody say to you in regard
• 14:16
Speaker 1: to a performance. Yeah, yeah, it means like, yeah, you're
• 14:19
Speaker 1: in the podcast, you're in this week Okay, copy that
• 14:22
Speaker 1: you're in the flow. Michael, tell me about what you
• 14:25
Speaker 1: think your best qualities are. What I think my best
• 14:28
Speaker 1: qualities are. I think that probably one of my best
• 14:32
Speaker 1: qualities is I have a dog like instinct to sniff
• 14:36
  Speaker 1: out bullshit. I think I'm generous. I think that I
• 14:42
Speaker 1: am what babe, my wife is over here telling me. Yeah,
• 14:51
Speaker 1: for better for words, I think I'm authentic. I think,
• 14:54
Speaker 1: generally speaking, I think I'm I'm authentic. Wait, can you
• 14:57
Speaker 1: bring your wife over? I want to say hi, Bige.
• 15:00
Speaker 1: They want to say hi. Do you in the podcast? Hi? Hey?
• 15:04
Speaker 1: How are you hi? Chelsea? I was sitting row when
• 15:08
Speaker 1: you did busiest podcasts and I just wanted to be like,
• 15:11
Speaker 1: I fucking love you. I mean her show that busy tonight. Yeah. Yeah.
• 15:17
  Speaker 1: When I say when I said he's authentic, I didn't
• 15:20
Speaker 1: mean in that new fangled hippie dippy like I'm authentic.
• 15:23
Speaker 1: I mean truly, he is one of the most what
• 15:26
Speaker 1: you see is really what you get, and and truly
• 15:29
Speaker 1: for better for worse, for better for worse. She can
• 15:32
Speaker 1: tell you that he is not. We I've known him
• 15:35
Speaker 1: for thirty years. He is not. There's no phony Bologney bullshit.
• 15:39
Speaker 1: He does not. He gives zero fox. He is who
• 15:42
Speaker 1: he is, he doesn't change he's he is totally generous,
• 15:46
Speaker 1: he is authentic. And you know what, Alexa pro is
• 15:48
Speaker 1: not a mood stabilizer the press. Bye. That's how she
• 15:59
Speaker 1: deals with you every day. She's like, listen, this is
• 16:02
Speaker 1: what actually happened. She has to deal with every day.
• 16:04
Speaker 1: I know, I can't even imagine. She must be cool
• 16:07
Speaker 1: as fuck. Yeah, she's She's cool, impatient, and you know,
• 16:11
Speaker 1: we we have known each other for such a long time,
• 16:13
Speaker 1: so there is a good understanding of each other, and
• 16:16
Speaker 1: we've grown, We've grown with each other. Yeah, yeah, well
• 16:19
Speaker 1: you've been Have you been dating for thirty years or
• 16:21
Speaker 1: you've just known each other for the No? No, no,
• 16:23
Speaker 1: well we dated ship. Hell no, we dated when we
• 16:27
Speaker 1: were young. We met when we were young, twenty one
• 16:29
Speaker 1: years old, and we dated for about four or five years,
• 16:33
Speaker 1: and then we went our separate ways and then I
• 16:36
Speaker 1: wind up getting married, I had two kids, got divorced,
• 16:39
Speaker 1: and then twelve years ago we got back together again
• 16:43
Speaker 1: and we got married. Five years ago. I think, oh wow,
• 16:47
  Speaker 1: that's a love story. It's it's a good love story.
• 16:50
Speaker 1: It's a good love story. I mean, you know, we
• 16:51
Speaker 1: know each other very well. Yeah, yeah, she must bring
• 16:55
Speaker 1: out the best in you. Do you think that's true.
• 16:57
Speaker 1: She definitely brings out the best of me. She pushes
• 17:00
Speaker 1: me to be the best I could be. I hope,
• 17:02
Speaker 1: hopefully I pushed her to be the best I could be.
• 17:04
Speaker 1: You know, she's a good you know, I I need boundaries,
• 17:07
Speaker 1: So she's good at keeping boundaries but also letting me
• 17:10
Speaker 1: be myself. And I think I do the same thing
• 17:13
Speaker 1: for her. And I think we support each other and
• 17:15
Speaker 1: and our patient with each other and continue to get
• 17:19
Speaker 1: to know each other. You know, sometimes I say that
• 17:21
Speaker 1: to her and she's like, what do you mean? I say, like,
• 17:22
Speaker 1: our relationship is continue to evolve. I think once if
• 17:26
Speaker 1: you stop evolving in a relationship, whether it's a boy
• 17:30
Speaker 1: girl romantic relationship or boy boy or girl girl romantically,
• 17:34
Speaker 1: I don't want to get canceled here, any sort of
• 17:37
Speaker 1: romantic relationship or even just a relationship with you know,
• 17:40
Speaker 1: with your parents, or relationship with friends. Relationships need to evolve.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: They need to evolve, and when when they don't, I
• 17:46
Speaker 1: think you could get into a slippery slope. Yeah, well,
• 17:48
Speaker 1: that's a very important thing for men to understand. Actually,
• 17:51
Speaker 1: you know, there is an evolution. And also it's important
• 17:55
Speaker 1: to grow as a person, to not remain fixed in
• 17:58
Speaker 1: your line of thinking or your opinions or your viewpoints.
• 18:01
Speaker 1: Because every phase of our lives or personality traits, it's
• 18:07
Speaker 1: not a state of being. It's a state of mind.
• 18:09
Speaker 1: And your states of mind can change over time and
• 18:11
Speaker 1: when you learn new things. Yeah, and I find that
• 18:14
Speaker 1: to be a very recurring theme with a lot of guys.
• 18:17
Speaker 1: I guess guys are different now, you know, there's and
• 18:20
Speaker 1: definitely younger guys are more open to understanding that things
• 18:23
Speaker 1: are not fixed, Like you don't have just a personality
• 18:27
Speaker 1: trait and like that's just the way I am. Where
• 18:29
Speaker 1: there should be a desire to grow and move and improve.
• 18:33
Speaker 1: You know, if you're a jealous person, you should know
• 18:36
Speaker 1: that that's not you don't have to be that way.
• 18:38
Speaker 1: You don't have to live your life like that way.
• 18:40
Speaker 1: If you're if you have no self esteem, or if
• 18:41
  Speaker 1: you're insecure, that's also a state of mind, not a
• 18:44
Speaker 1: state of being. I agree, And for me age, you know,
• 18:48
Speaker 1: I'm fifty two now. Relationships not just romantic, whether it
• 18:53
Speaker 1: be business, whether it be on set relationships or personal
• 18:58
Speaker 1: relationships or even relationships with my family. Athletes talk about
• 19:01
Speaker 1: the games slowing down, and that's when they get to
• 19:05
Speaker 1: get into the pocket easier where the game slows down.
• 19:08
Speaker 1: For me, relationships in life have slowed down a little
• 19:11
Speaker 1: bit so I could see things better and not just react.
• 19:13
Speaker 1: Because I'm a very reactive person, as you could imagine. Yeah,
• 19:17
Speaker 1: I used to be really reactive as well, and then
• 19:19
Speaker 1: I went to therapy and realized I don't have to
• 19:21
  Speaker 1: live like that. And it's a it's a load off
• 19:24
Speaker 1: my shoulders because it's like, oh, I don't need to
• 19:26
  Speaker 1: react to everything. I agree. I agree, And there's a
• 19:29
Speaker 1: real power and feeling when you don't react. You know,
• 19:32
Speaker 1: there's a real power to it, to going okay, I
• 19:34
Speaker 1: didn't react to that, or not inserting yourself where it's unnecessary.
• 19:38
Speaker 1: It's a great hub to have gotten past. And anytime
• 19:41
Speaker 1: I am reactive, I catch myself I'm like, wait a second,
• 19:44
Speaker 1: you're not even thinking about what you're saying right now?
• 19:46
Speaker 1: Do you want to say it? I'm like, oh no, no, no,
• 19:48
Speaker 1: So just the awareness of it is even, you know,
• 19:50
Speaker 1: like it's a whole thing of like a new way
• 19:52
Speaker 1: of thinking, So I appreciate that a lot. All right,
• 19:55
Speaker 1: So retake callers people calling for advice, so then you
• 19:58
Speaker 1: you have to tell them what yeah, and you're going
• 20:00
Speaker 1: to give them. Some of them are summer letters and
• 20:03
Speaker 1: Summer Live on Zoom. So get ready, all right, I'm ready. Okay,
• 20:07
Speaker 1: We're gonna take a quick break and then Michael, I
• 20:09
Speaker 1: need you to put your pants back on and we're back. Great. Oh,
• 20:17
  Speaker 1: because I actually don't have on pain I know, I
• 20:20
Speaker 1: didn't expect for you too, and actually did you request
• 20:22
Speaker 1: that he didn't wear? Okay, we want to bring this
• 20:24
Speaker 1: look back for men. Okay, it's such a flattering look,
• 20:28
Speaker 1: a sweater with no pants on. I was like, how
• 20:31
Speaker 1: the fund did she know I don't have pants on?
• 20:34
Speaker 1: You started sitting, you kept sitting. I do have to
• 20:36
Speaker 1: say I was excited for you to come on the show, Michael,
• 20:39
Speaker 1: because when I was talking to Chelsea about like various
• 20:41
Speaker 1: people that we might have upcoming, and your folks had
• 20:44
Speaker 1: reached out to us and said, you know how about
• 20:45
Speaker 1: Michael rap report and Chelsea just started laughing and then
• 20:49
Speaker 1: continued laughing for like forty five seconds. I was like,
• 20:52
  Speaker 1: I think that's a yes. I love you funny because
• 20:56
Speaker 1: I never met you, Chelsea, I've never met you in person. No,
• 21:00
Speaker 1: that's so funny because I was going to say the
• 21:02
Speaker 1: same thing. But any time I say that, everyone's like
• 21:03
Speaker 1: we met three times. So I don't say that anymore
• 21:06
Speaker 1: or they'll be like I was on your show. Uh No,
• 21:09
Speaker 1: I didn't realize that we hadn't mad. It feels like
• 21:11
Speaker 1: we have never like I've never I've never seen you
• 21:13
Speaker 1: in real life, like I've never seen you before. Oh
• 21:16
Speaker 1: that's weird, gust fix it. Yeah, Well, we'll run into
• 21:18
Speaker 1: each other at some point, I'm sure for sure. Well,
• 21:22
Speaker 1: our first question is an email, and this comes from
• 21:27
Speaker 1: l Hi Chelsea. I'm a woman in my early forties,
• 21:31
Speaker 1: and unfortunately I'm sleeping with a Republican. We've been seeing
• 21:35
Speaker 1: one another for about four plus years. I know we
• 21:38
Speaker 1: don't usually do a lot of political questions, but I
• 21:41
Speaker 1: felt like, you know, this is a kind of a
• 21:43
Speaker 1: good one. We've been seeing each other for four plus
• 21:45
Speaker 1: years and love one another. The sex is ridiculously amazing.
• 21:49
Speaker 1: He's my favorite person, and we get along great as
• 21:52
Speaker 1: long as we don't discuss any sort of social or
• 21:54
Speaker 1: political issues. We're both divorced, and have children, so we
• 21:58
Speaker 1: have zero rush to live together or the serious future
• 22:01
Speaker 1: right now, since our priorities are our children. I love him,
• 22:04
Speaker 1: but lately our differences are becoming increasingly apparent, and I'm
• 22:07
Speaker 1: irritated and angry. He's a cop and former marine. I'm
• 22:12
Speaker 1: a doctor who works primarily with kids and teens, many
• 22:15
Speaker 1: of them being transgender or lgbt Q. I've seen firsthand
• 22:19
Speaker 1: the effects discrimination and marginalization can have on people and
• 22:22
Speaker 1: how traumatizing it can be, and I care deeply about
• 22:25
Speaker 1: how others are treated and their emotional well being. My
• 22:28
Speaker 1: partner mocks pronoun usage and frankly seems transphobic and homophobic.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: I'm pretty passionate about equality and give as much as
• 22:35
Speaker 1: I can to support causes I believe in that make
• 22:37
Speaker 1: a difference, whether through volunteer work or donations. I'm from
• 22:41
Speaker 1: an affluent family. I'm educated and relatively well off, yet
• 22:44
Speaker 1: I don't mind having to pay my share in taxes
• 22:47
Speaker 1: if it means bettering the lives of others who have less.
• 22:50
Speaker 1: He had a very different upbringing than I did, and
• 22:52
Speaker 1: has had to work hard to be in the financial
• 22:54
Speaker 1: position he's in now. He makes two K year or
• 22:57
Speaker 1: so so he's not exactly underpaid. He gets up set
• 23:00
Speaker 1: every time a law is passed that provides more social
• 23:02
Speaker 1: or financial support to others. I won't get into our
• 23:05
Speaker 1: differences with vaccines and mask use, but I'm pretty sure
• 23:08
Speaker 1: you can guess where each of us stands on those issues.
• 23:11
Speaker 1: I was previously able to ignore our differences and just
• 23:14
Speaker 1: not discuss them, but as someone who has only become
• 23:17
Speaker 1: increasingly passionate about social justice issues and politics, it's now
• 23:21
Speaker 1: impossible to bite my tongue. What's more, his social media
• 23:24
Speaker 1: is a ton of let's go Brandon, anti vax or
• 23:27
Speaker 1: yea guns stuff that I find disgusting and immature. He's
• 23:31
Speaker 1: made all of his accounts private because I got upset
• 23:34
Speaker 1: over his content and reposting of some very discriminatory posts
• 23:37
Speaker 1: and tweets. I've overheard him use terms like stupid vaxers
• 23:41
Speaker 1: and lib tards to describe people who are well, just
• 23:44
Speaker 1: like me. It feels like he has zero respect for
• 23:47
Speaker 1: the work I do with LGBTQ youth, anyone who isn't
• 23:50
Speaker 1: a white male, and sadly me, I'm angry. I'm hurt,
• 23:54
Speaker 1: but worse, I'm conflicted about staying in this relationship. I
• 23:57
Speaker 1: know I can't change his views, but I think we
• 23:59
Speaker 1: may be too different and have too many conflicting values
• 24:02
Speaker 1: for this to work. Our chemistry and sex life are
• 24:04
Speaker 1: out of this world hot, but I'm wondering if maybe
• 24:07
Speaker 1: that's all there is, and we're just too different to
• 24:09
Speaker 1: stay together much longer. I should add he isn't bothered
• 24:12
Speaker 1: by any of this. Any advice on how to handle
• 24:15
Speaker 1: having someone in my life whose world views are so
• 24:17
Speaker 1: contrary to my own, or is this a lost cause?
• 24:20
  Speaker 1: L I mean it sounds like it's a lost cause
• 24:23
Speaker 1: quite frankly, because he's so aggressive. I mean, it's one
• 24:27
Speaker 1: thing to be a Republican, but it's another thing to
• 24:30
Speaker 1: actively be against trans children, or be homophobic or throwing
• 24:36
Speaker 1: around phrases like let's go Brandon and libtard doesn't invoke
• 24:40
Speaker 1: any sort of healthy state of mind in my opinion.
• 24:44
Speaker 1: And yes, sex is great, but guess what, you can
• 24:46
Speaker 1: suck a bunch of other people and have great sex also,
• 24:49
Speaker 1: like who gives a ship? If the sex is great,
• 24:50
Speaker 1: that is not enough of a reason to stay in
• 24:52
Speaker 1: a relationship. If it was just like a fly by night,
• 24:54
Speaker 1: I would say, sure, Yeah, I keep having sex with him,
• 24:56
Speaker 1: But clearly you're getting aggravated and the value system is
• 25:00
Speaker 1: on opposing ends of the spectrum. So there's no point
• 25:03
Speaker 1: in continuing that because you're just going to enervate yourself
• 25:06
Speaker 1: by even being in the same relationship with him. And
• 25:09
Speaker 1: and yeah, blocking I mean not being able to follo
• 25:12
Speaker 1: him on social media because his supposts are so upsetting,
• 25:14
Speaker 1: Like that's kind of a deal breaker. I mean, it
• 25:17
Speaker 1: is a value it's a value issue. Your values are
• 25:19
Speaker 1: different than his. Michael, what do you think I agree?
• 25:22
Speaker 1: I mean at first, I was, you know, at the
• 25:24
Speaker 1: beginning of the letter, I was going to be like,
• 25:27
Speaker 1: you know, just seemed to just so, I I agree
• 25:31
Speaker 1: with what everything you're saying. When you're funny, you funk
• 25:34
Speaker 1: the sex whatever, what do you I mean, what do
• 25:36
Speaker 1: you like? There's plenty of people you could have good
• 25:38
Speaker 1: sex with, So you gotta shut down. What's this lady's name?
• 25:41
Speaker 1: L got to shut it down? Okay, shut it down
• 25:46
Speaker 1: now and listen. It was just like a light thing,
• 25:49
Speaker 1: But it sounds like it's not a light thing because
• 25:50
Speaker 1: that would be kind of kinky, like, oh, you know,
• 25:53
Speaker 1: while you're having sex with him, he's like, you dumb,
• 25:55
Speaker 1: fucking lived toward let's go Brandon, and that could be
• 25:58
Speaker 1: like a kinky kind of sex old thing, but it's
• 26:00
Speaker 1: this seems like a more interpersonal relationship. So I feel
• 26:03
Speaker 1: like the relationship, you need to shut it down. You
• 26:05
Speaker 1: guys are adults, so you need to shut it down. Also,
• 26:08
Speaker 1: you know, I would love to say, sure, you could
• 26:10
Speaker 1: date somebody who's a Republican. I would like that to
• 26:13
Speaker 1: be true. But in this stage that we're in, it's
• 26:15
Speaker 1: pretty being a Republican represents restricting women's rights, it represents
• 26:20
Speaker 1: restricting gay rights, trans rights, any marginalized group, like, it
• 26:24
Speaker 1: stands for a lot more than it used to in
• 26:26
Speaker 1: terms of oppression and and contraction of human rights. So
• 26:32
Speaker 1: it's not really feasible that, I mean, everything is so divisive.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: I wish it weren't this way, but it is. And like, unfortunately,
• 26:39
Speaker 1: you're living in a time where Republicans do represent all
• 26:42
Speaker 1: of those things. If you're voting for a Republican candidate,
• 26:45
Speaker 1: especially because of your like what's coming out of your pocketbook,
• 26:48
Speaker 1: I mean, that's just the lamest excuse ever for voting
• 26:51
Speaker 1: for anybody at the cost of everyone else's rights. The
• 26:53
Speaker 1: world is never gonna be white again. Okay, so just
• 26:56
Speaker 1: fucking shut up about it already. It's never gonna be
• 26:58
Speaker 1: like that. There's two much of a population of people
• 27:02
Speaker 1: who are brown and black, and that is going to
• 27:04
Speaker 1: be the majority, which is what scares the funk out
• 27:06
Speaker 1: of Republicans. But it's like, just be loving. Don't you
• 27:10
Speaker 1: want to live in a loving, nice place where people
• 27:12
Speaker 1: are friendly and not screaming at each other and yelling
• 27:15
Speaker 1: about guns. Fuck off? So yeah, leave him? Okay. I agree.
• 27:20
Speaker 1: It's one thing to have different political beliefs than someone.
• 27:24
Speaker 1: It's a different thing to have a varying degree of
• 27:26
Speaker 1: value on human life. And this seems to extreme. This
• 27:30
Speaker 1: is not even political, This is like values and and
• 27:33
Speaker 1: he's blocking you on social media because he's posting wild ship.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: That's crazy. These are how old is? How old is?
• 27:40
Speaker 1: Mid forties? Come? Yeah? And especially there are kids involved.
• 27:44
Speaker 1: If you do want a long term relationship with this guy,
• 27:47
Speaker 1: you are eventually going to have him around your kids.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: So like, is that someone you want instilling their values
• 27:51
Speaker 1: and your kids? Probably not? No, definitely not. And you
• 27:54
Speaker 1: know what, having sex with somebody who values women's rights
• 27:57
Speaker 1: is going to be a lot hotter than having sex
• 27:59
Speaker 1: with this guy up all right, now solved. They'll be
• 28:02
Speaker 1: able to tell by the way he touches your hair. Well.
• 28:10
Speaker 1: Our next question is a coller. This is Jackie. Dear Chelsea.
• 28:15
Speaker 1: I'm in love with two different men, and what's worse
• 28:17
Speaker 1: sins they're both in love with me like this story. Yeah,
• 28:21
  Speaker 1: eventually I have to break someone's heart, and I can't
• 28:24
Speaker 1: imagine doing that to anyone. These men are both polar
• 28:27
Speaker 1: opposites of each other. I relate to them in different
• 28:29
Speaker 1: areas of life. The chemical connection is insane with each guy.
• 28:34
Speaker 1: Both of them tell me they're so in love with
• 28:36
Speaker 1: me and that I'm the love of their lives, and
• 28:38
Speaker 1: I truly believe both of them. It's incredible and yet
• 28:41
Speaker 1: incredibly painful at the same time. I just want you
• 28:43
Speaker 1: to know while we're reading this, Michael is licking his lips. Well,
• 28:47
Speaker 1: that's because they're dry. Somebody just popped. Yeah, that's the call.
• 28:51
Speaker 1: She's gonna be two and two together, Michael, I got it,
• 28:58
Speaker 1: I got I don't know what the is going on here, obviously,
• 29:01
Speaker 1: she says, I don't know how to choose. One guy
• 29:04
Speaker 1: is my boyfriend of two years and the other is
• 29:06
Speaker 1: my ex boyfriend that has come back into my life.
• 29:08
Speaker 1: My current boyfriend has been very difficult lately, and my
• 29:11
Speaker 1: ex boyfriend has really done the work to figure himself out.
• 29:15
Speaker 1: The sex is also amazing with both, but a little
• 29:17
Speaker 1: better with my current boyfriend, and that area of the
• 29:19
Speaker 1: relationship is very important to me. I need someone who's
• 29:23
Speaker 1: not afraid to tell me like it is. Help Jackie,
• 29:26
Speaker 1: and I should clarify she's not sleeping with both of
• 29:29
Speaker 1: them currently. She just remembers the ex from before, right, Jackie. Yes, okay,
• 29:35
Speaker 1: Hi Jackie, Right Jackie. You sure you're not sleeping with
• 29:39
Speaker 1: them both? Not currently? Okay? So you're still in love
• 29:45
Speaker 1: with your ex boyfriend and you're in love with your
• 29:46
Speaker 1: new boyfriend and you're only sleeping with your new boyfriend. Yes, okay.
• 29:50
Speaker 1: I was hoping that you were sleeping with both of
• 29:52
Speaker 1: them at the same time, just because I love drama,
• 29:54
Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I mean, yeah, that would
• 29:57
Speaker 1: be nice, but now that's not my Okay. Well, that's
• 29:59
Speaker 1: nice of you not to do that, because that's, yeah,
• 30:01
Speaker 1: cheating isn't nice. So how long were you with your
• 30:05
Speaker 1: ex boyfriend? Not that long, like six months and then
• 30:09
Speaker 1: you guys broke up because why, Well, I was divorced
• 30:14
Speaker 1: for about a year when I met him, and he
• 30:17
Speaker 1: was my first boyfriend's sense of divorce and so I
• 30:21
Speaker 1: was kind of crazy and so he ended it. Uh huh.
• 30:25
Speaker 1: And so when you say he came back now that
• 30:28
Speaker 1: he's done the work, what does that mean. Oh, he
• 30:31
Speaker 1: went to therapy, he did a lot of work on himself.
• 30:33
Speaker 1: He's very like emotionally available and everything like that. So yeah,
• 30:40
Speaker 1: the ex boyfriends, Yes, how do you know that now?
• 30:44
Speaker 1: Because you were in a relationship with the new boyfriend,
• 30:46
Speaker 1: Like he might be presenting himself that way, but you
• 30:49
Speaker 1: can only really tell from being in the trenches with somebody. Yeah,
• 30:54
Speaker 1: I understand that, but I've known him for a long
• 30:57
Speaker 1: time and I know his family, like they all surround
• 31:00
Speaker 1: me in this neighborhood that I live in, so I'm
• 31:03
Speaker 1: surrounded by his entire family, so they are like well
• 31:07
Speaker 1: known to me. So how long have you guys been
• 31:11
Speaker 1: broken up? Three years? And how long have you been
• 31:14
Speaker 1: with the new guy two and a half? Okay, and
• 31:19
Speaker 1: so your ex boyfriend is actively trying to get you back? Yes? Interesting, Yeah,
• 31:25
Speaker 1: that is they both tell me the same thing like
• 31:29
Speaker 1: all the time. And does your current boyfriend know that
• 31:31
Speaker 1: your ex boyfriend is trying to get you back. Oh no, okay, okay,
• 31:37
Speaker 1: this is juicy. It is crazy. I feel like it's
• 31:40
Speaker 1: a very embarrassing problem. Why because it sounds like a
• 31:45
Speaker 1: soap opera and that is not my life. Yeah, but
• 31:49
Speaker 1: some people, some people have this stuff going on. That's
• 31:52
Speaker 1: nothing to be embarrassed about. It's cute. You have two
• 31:54
Speaker 1: guys that love you and you have to choose. That's
• 31:57
Speaker 1: a horrible it's horrible. It's agony. Do you feel like
• 32:00
Speaker 1: you're in love with both of them? Yes? Absolutely, And
• 32:04
Speaker 1: you're having an emotional affair with your ex boyfriend while
• 32:08
Speaker 1: you're with your boyfriend sort of yes, So are you
• 32:12
Speaker 1: going out and like seeing the ax? Have you guys
• 32:15
Speaker 1: been in contact in person and letters? Like what's the
• 32:18
Speaker 1: vibe there? Well, it's crazy because he has a ton
• 32:20
Speaker 1: of siblings and they all have children, and so we
• 32:22
Speaker 1: see each other like sports games and stuff like that,
• 32:25
Speaker 1: and like we you know, we do we see each other.
• 32:27
Speaker 1: So it's kind of is there lingering hugs and ship
• 32:30
Speaker 1: like that? No, nothing like that. But he's just more
• 32:34
Speaker 1: emotionally available than like my current boyfriend. So like the
• 32:37
Speaker 1: lacking and my current boyfriend is not helping anything. The
• 32:42
Speaker 1: grass is always greener on the other side, absolutely, and
• 32:45
Speaker 1: that's I'm very self aware, Like I'm not going to
• 32:48
Speaker 1: go move to an ex boyfriend just because of the
• 32:50
Speaker 1: lacking and my current boyfriend. That's not going to happen.
• 32:54
Speaker 1: So what do you like about your current boyfriend? Tell
• 32:56
Speaker 1: us all the good things about him. I mean, he's
• 32:58
Speaker 1: pretty amazing. A lot there are polar opposites. My current
• 33:01
Speaker 1: boyfriend is like type A. He played rugby in college.
• 33:05
Speaker 1: He's a business guy. He's very like active, he did
• 33:08
Speaker 1: half iron Man's like all that type of stuff, and
• 33:11
Speaker 1: he's very very fun. We have the best time together
• 33:14
Speaker 1: doing absolutely nothing, which is the best. But my ex
• 33:17
Speaker 1: boyfriend was We had fun doing nothing as well. He's
• 33:20
Speaker 1: just more relaxed, easy going things like that. So I
• 33:24
Speaker 1: don't know, I'm kind of leaning towards your ex boyfriend.
• 33:28
Speaker 1: I like, like, I like a like a story like that,
• 33:31
Speaker 1: like where you break up and then the person goes
• 33:33
Speaker 1: and takes care of their ship and then they come back.
• 33:35
Speaker 1: Like I find that to be very romantic. But I
• 33:38
Speaker 1: can't really decide for you who you like more. I mean,
• 33:41
Speaker 1: that is a tough situation to be in. You have
• 33:44
Speaker 1: to sit and like literally meditate on it and close
• 33:47
Speaker 1: your eyes and figure out what the feeling that comes
• 33:50
Speaker 1: to you is. Well right, And not only that, but
• 33:52
Speaker 1: I'm very aware that it could be no one I
• 33:54
Speaker 1: could end up with neither of them, Like, none of
• 33:57
Speaker 1: them could work out. So I don't know, it's very
• 33:59
Speaker 1: hard to tell, like what outweighs what? You know? What
• 34:03
Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah, So what are the conversations around him
• 34:06
Speaker 1: pursuing you while you're in a relationship. Are you allowing
• 34:09
Speaker 1: that to keep going? Or did you say, hey, like
• 34:11
Speaker 1: this is disrespectful to a degree, because if your current
• 34:14
Speaker 1: boyfriend found that out, he'd be fucking pissed. Oh yeah,
• 34:17
Speaker 1: he's doing that to me, I'd be fucking pissed. So yeah,
• 34:19
Speaker 1: I completely understand when I put that in perspective, But um,
• 34:23
Speaker 1: I hate to hurt anyone's feelings. And that's the biggest
• 34:27
Speaker 1: problem I have. Whatever I choose, someone is going to
• 34:31
Speaker 1: be heartbroken, and I don't want to do that to
• 34:33
Speaker 1: either of them. Yeah, but if your ex boyfriend is heartbroken, like,
• 34:36
Speaker 1: that's not your responsibility his heartbreak, right, You're not with him,
• 34:40
Speaker 1: So and you guys have been broken up for a
• 34:41
Speaker 1: period of time and you're in another relationship. Yeah, and
• 34:44
Speaker 1: he broke up with me first, so that's right. Yeah,
• 34:50
Speaker 1: what are some of the you said there's some complications
• 34:52
Speaker 1: with your current boyfriend? What what's going on there? The
• 34:56
Speaker 1: time limit that we have together is not enough for me.
• 34:58
Speaker 1: We've been together for two a half years, so I mean,
• 35:01
Speaker 1: I would like to move in together soon. He says
• 35:03
Speaker 1: that we will. I know he wants to get married,
• 35:05
Speaker 1: but it's just not moving quick enough for me. And
• 35:08
Speaker 1: we live a half hour apart, and he doesn't really
• 35:10
Speaker 1: come here that often. I usually go there a lot,
• 35:13
Speaker 1: So that's a problem, just the availability. Okay, well wait,
• 35:17
Speaker 1: you just said something that leads me to believe that.
• 35:19
Speaker 1: You say you want to move in with him, and
• 35:23
Speaker 1: the only reason you're hesitant about that is or he
• 35:26
Speaker 1: seems to be putting it off for whatever reason or
• 35:28
Speaker 1: not doing it in your timeline, But that is that
• 35:31
Speaker 1: implies that you want to be with him, that you
• 35:33
Speaker 1: want to spend the rest of your life with him,
• 35:35
Speaker 1: if you want to move in with him. So I
• 35:37
Speaker 1: feel like the other guys irrelevant in that situation. If
• 35:40
Speaker 1: those circumstances changed right. Well, it just feel like, you know,
• 35:44
Speaker 1: if my current boyfriend wanted to be with me really bad,
• 35:47
Speaker 1: he would show me the effort and like moving forward,
• 35:50
Speaker 1: and that's not happening. So it's like, if you wanted
• 35:52
Speaker 1: to be with me, I would know, you know what
• 35:54
Speaker 1: I mean? Do you ask him for like a more
• 35:58
Speaker 1: concrete timeline I have. We've had like a zillion conversations
• 36:02
Speaker 1: about it until I'm blue in the face and I'm
• 36:04
Speaker 1: kind of like over it by now. What is his response?
• 36:07
Speaker 1: What does he say? Oh? He just says like, yeah,
• 36:10
Speaker 1: I do want to live with you, I do want
• 36:11
Speaker 1: to get married, and I believe him he does. It's
• 36:14
Speaker 1: just to get him to move like in any sort
• 36:18
Speaker 1: of way, any sort of action. He is not a
• 36:20
Speaker 1: planner by any means, so for him to do anything
• 36:24
Speaker 1: is like pulling teeth. Well, you could kill two birds
• 36:26
Speaker 1: with one stone. You can just break up with your
• 36:28
Speaker 1: current boyfriend and get back together with your AX, and
• 36:30
Speaker 1: I bet you the current boyfriend will be ready to
• 36:32
Speaker 1: move in as that would be the case. I probed
• 36:39
Speaker 1: my boyfriend today, he would text me in or call
• 36:43
Speaker 1: me in like a month or two in crying or
• 36:45
Speaker 1: something like. That's the way it works. Yeah, always, always, Michael,
• 36:48
Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on having to pending relationships one
• 36:51
Speaker 1: relationship and one x lever. It's just seems confusing, And
• 36:56
Speaker 1: I think that essentially, Jackie, I think having an emotional
• 37:01
Speaker 1: affair with your ex boyfriend and you know that your
• 37:04
Speaker 1: current boyfriend wouldn't like that, you might have to kick
• 37:07
Speaker 1: both these dudes to the curb. You might have to
• 37:09
Speaker 1: start from scratch because neither one of them might not
• 37:11
Speaker 1: be the guy for you for a long term thing. Well,
• 37:14
  Speaker 1: that's what I'm thinking. I feel like they're lacking. They
• 37:17
Speaker 1: pick up what each other lacks. They both Yeah, may
• 37:19
Speaker 1: not work out, that's a real reality. Or you could
• 37:22
Speaker 1: just be honest with your real current boyfriend and tell
• 37:25
Speaker 1: him that you're having an emotional affair with your ex
• 37:27
Speaker 1: boyfriend because of what's lacking in your relationship today. Yeah,
• 37:31
Speaker 1: you got options because if he breaks up with you,
• 37:33
Speaker 1: you could just go back with that other gie. Just
• 37:37
Speaker 1: make him make the decision for me. Well, yeah, I mean,
• 37:39
Speaker 1: why not just be honest about it. I mean that
• 37:42
Speaker 1: is the best form of communication, is like laying it
• 37:45
Speaker 1: out there, and that way you don't have anything to
• 37:47
Speaker 1: feel guilty about. Be like listen, this is lacking. I'm
• 37:49
Speaker 1: a little bit bummed about how slowly this is moving
• 37:52
Speaker 1: and I want to be living together. You don't want this.
• 37:54
Speaker 1: So I've started talking to my ex boyfriend, and guess what,
• 37:56
Speaker 1: he's really in love with me, and I feel like
• 37:58
Speaker 1: I get something from him that I'm not get from
• 38:00
Speaker 1: this relationship. This is worth discussing if we're going to
• 38:02
Speaker 1: move forward or not. You know. Yeah, and I haven't
• 38:05
Speaker 1: told him about my ex boyfriend, but I have kind
• 38:07
Speaker 1: of like shut things down with him a little bit.
• 38:09
Speaker 1: Like we're not completely broken up or anything, but I'm
• 38:11
Speaker 1: saying I can't wait one more day for him to
• 38:14
Speaker 1: make a move on anything. So we're kind of we're
• 38:18
Speaker 1: not not together, but we're not together either. I know
• 38:20
Speaker 1: that's messy, but like that's kind of the city we're
• 38:23
Speaker 1: in right now. Yeah, it sounds like, yeah, you're in
• 38:25
Speaker 1: a messy part of your life a little bit, which
• 38:27
Speaker 1: is fine because then you know around the corner is
• 38:30
Speaker 1: like normal adulthood or healthy, healthier circumstances. Well, then great,
• 38:35
Speaker 1: you have the opportunity. You guys are separated sort of
• 38:37
Speaker 1: like go and just tell him this now, Like, Okay,
• 38:39
Speaker 1: if you want to do something. This is the time
• 38:41
Speaker 1: frame I needed to happen, otherwise I may start dating
• 38:43
Speaker 1: my ex boyfriend. I think if you do, like actually
• 38:47
Speaker 1: break up with the current boyfriend ish situation, you have
• 38:51
Speaker 1: to bang the X like you have to even if
• 38:53
Speaker 1: you don't date them, just like at least once. Oh yeah,
• 38:56
Speaker 1: for sure. I've wanted to be like a ho ho
• 39:00
Speaker 1: girl summer forever and I've never got because I'm always
• 39:03
Speaker 1: in a relationship. So maybe I'll just done both of
• 39:06
Speaker 1: them and by summer I can go out with anyone
• 39:08
Speaker 1: I want. Yeah, So that's a long lead until summer. Yeah. Yeah,
• 39:12
Speaker 1: but I have to get in shape too. So that's
• 39:14
Speaker 1: because just take some those epic you'll be fine. You
• 39:17
Speaker 1: don't have to get in shape. Everyone's on ozempic now. So, Michael,
• 39:21
Speaker 1: do you have any thoughts about like getting back with
• 39:23
Speaker 1: an X because Michael was telling us his wife they
• 39:25
Speaker 1: had data when they were in the early twenties and
• 39:27
Speaker 1: then they you know, went their separate ways and came
• 39:30
Speaker 1: back together and are married. Or did you always love
• 39:32
Speaker 1: your current wife now even when you were with your
• 39:35
Speaker 1: other wife, not in any sort of I mean in
• 39:38
Speaker 1: a broad picture, we were like we didn't my wife, Kibi.
• 39:41
  Speaker 1: Now you know, I'm a I'm a burn the building
• 39:45
Speaker 1: and the street and the city down type of person.
• 39:47
Speaker 1: A lot of times when I end relationships. This is
• 39:49
Speaker 1: the only relationship where it kind of ended in a
• 39:52
Speaker 1: even though didn't relationships ends always sad, but it was
• 39:55
Speaker 1: always like we always stayed in in good graces and
• 39:57
Speaker 1: we were always like loving to each other. But that
• 40:00
Speaker 1: being said, I mean it was just timing, you know,
• 40:02
Speaker 1: it's you know this, it was years. It was years
• 40:05
Speaker 1: and years and years that we that we weren't together. So,
• 40:08
Speaker 1: I mean, each situation is different. I mean I have
• 40:10
Speaker 1: no problem, you know with getting back with people. Each
• 40:14
Speaker 1: situation so specific and different. So when you were with
• 40:17
Speaker 1: your one wife and if you saw your other wife,
• 40:20
Speaker 1: did you feel any certain way loving, very loving, but
• 40:24
Speaker 1: not not anything to be ashamed of or like I'm
• 40:28
Speaker 1: talking like chemistry wise, like you don't feel that like buzz. Honestly,
• 40:32
Speaker 1: it's hard to answer that because it's such a long
• 40:34
Speaker 1: time ago. But it doesn't. It wasn't. It wasn't as complicated.
• 40:38
Speaker 1: You're in conundrum. Yeah, no, ship, you're in You're in conundrum, Jackie, Jackie,
• 40:44
Speaker 1: tell me this, if you never saw either one of them. Again,
• 40:48
Speaker 1: is there one that you would feel like he's the
• 40:50
Speaker 1: one that got away? Yes, my current boyfriend for sure.
• 40:55
Speaker 1: Well I think that's your answer that I think you
• 40:57
Speaker 1: owe it to him to just be really honest and
• 40:59
Speaker 1: put it all out there, like you have nothing to lose. Well, yeah, absolutely,
• 41:02
Speaker 1: but I feel like I deserve more than what he's
• 41:04
Speaker 1: giving me. If you going to give me anymore, then
• 41:07
Speaker 1: that's that anyways. Yes, even if even if my ex
• 41:11
Speaker 1: boyfriend didn't show up, like this still isn't enough for
• 41:14
Speaker 1: me anyway, So it would probably you know what I mean,
• 41:17
Speaker 1: And that's what needs Yeah, you've got to communicate that
• 41:19
Speaker 1: to him, like if you want to keep me, this
• 41:22
Speaker 1: moves to the next level and if not, cool like
• 41:24
Speaker 1: I gotta. It's so weird that women always have to
• 41:27
Speaker 1: give men ultimatums like I just it's so annoying to
• 41:31
Speaker 1: have to even do that. Like I understand your frustration
• 41:34
Speaker 1: because you wanted to be a mutual affection, Like you
• 41:36
Speaker 1: shouldn't have to worry about whether somebody's gonna want you
• 41:39
Speaker 1: to move in. It should be like you both are
• 41:41
Speaker 1: like yeah, we're doing that, we're moving in together. We're
• 41:43
Speaker 1: in love, So I can understand why you're not feeling that,
• 41:46
Speaker 1: you know, respect or the other person should want it
• 41:49
Speaker 1: just as much as me. And if he doesn't, then
• 41:51
Speaker 1: I feel like that's a sign. How old are you? Okay,
• 41:56
  Speaker 1: So you're yeah, you're a grown up. Yeah, I mean
• 41:59
Speaker 1: I've been married, divorced, gone through relationships, therapy, the whole thing.
• 42:04
Speaker 1: So I'm very like, I'm very self aware of what's
• 42:06
Speaker 1: going on. That's why this messy situation is not like
• 42:09
Speaker 1: suiting me. Yeah, Like I think the advice would be
• 42:13
Speaker 1: different if you were you know. And also I'm not
• 42:17
Speaker 1: telling like anyone about this. You're the first people I've
• 42:20
Speaker 1: ever talk The whole world's gonna know now. Oh, I'm
• 42:24
Speaker 1: not telling anyone. We're keeping her video private private share
• 42:29
Speaker 1: A video won't go up. They'll just hear her voice.
• 42:32
Speaker 1: So what are we leaving with? What am I telling
• 42:34
Speaker 1: your what to do? I don't fucking know. Tell me answers?
• 42:39
  Speaker 1: I know, I know, I mean, I I just well,
• 42:42
Speaker 1: I think first things first, you have to have the
• 42:44
Speaker 1: conversation with your ex, I mean with your current boyfriend.
• 42:47
Speaker 1: You have to have a conversation and go listen, forget
• 42:49
Speaker 1: about this little area you're in this gray area. You're
• 42:52
Speaker 1: you want black and white, like are you guys going
• 42:55
Speaker 1: to move in together or not? And if you're not,
• 42:57
Speaker 1: that's fine, You're going to move on and just let
• 42:58
Speaker 1: him know that. You don't have to men and the
• 43:00
Speaker 1: ex boyfriend, you don't have to threaten him with whom.
• 43:02
Speaker 1: Just say I'm good, I'm ready to move on. If
• 43:04
Speaker 1: you're not going to do this and get that out
• 43:06
Speaker 1: of the way, then see what he says. If the
• 43:08
Speaker 1: answer is no, I'm not ready, then go great, and
• 43:10
Speaker 1: then you can go. You have every right to go
• 43:12
Speaker 1: date your ex boyfriend and see if that is something
• 43:14
Speaker 1: that you want. And then I guarantee you this guy
• 43:17
Speaker 1: is going to come around. And once he loses you,
• 43:19
Speaker 1: that's what happens in every single relationship. One person leaves
• 43:22
Speaker 1: and then the other person is like, what can I do?
• 43:26
Speaker 1: I know my ex husband's the same way, Like he
• 43:28
Speaker 1: still wants to get back together. Everybody wants to get
• 43:30
Speaker 1: back together with you. Yeah, after they're done, sure, but yeah,
• 43:36
  Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a really hard thing and I
• 43:38
Speaker 1: don't want to hurt anybody that's don't worry about that.
• 43:40
Speaker 1: You can't control that. Do what you want to do
• 43:42
Speaker 1: what's best for you, don't worry about hurting anybody. Have
• 43:44
Speaker 1: that conversation. Are you gonna do this? You're gonna have
• 43:47
Speaker 1: the conversation with your current guy and an honest already
• 43:50
Speaker 1: have like we're on like a not talking basis for
• 43:53
Speaker 1: a couple of days now, okay, so when you can
• 43:55
Speaker 1: talk again, have this conversation. Yeah, okay, And like if
• 44:00
Speaker 1: you need to go be a hobiah and tell us
• 44:02
Speaker 1: about it, Yeah, totally don't feel bad about being a
• 44:04
Speaker 1: hoe either for me. Who knows. Yeah, Michael still licking
• 44:08
  Speaker 1: his lips. Yeah, well, it's also it's also I didn't
• 44:14
Speaker 1: sleep when you guys said go be a hobo. You know.
• 44:16
  Speaker 1: I think that's I think that's you know, I think
• 44:19
Speaker 1: women these days this is kind of like talked about.
• 44:22
  Speaker 1: But I think it's a lot harder to do. It's
• 44:26
Speaker 1: a lot easier to say than actually do for women
• 44:29
Speaker 1: to actually go be go be hoes. I don't care
• 44:32
Speaker 1: to do it. It might be the easiest thing rather
• 44:39
Speaker 1: than Yeah, it's definitely fun to like have a bunch
• 44:43
Speaker 1: of guys that you're juggling. That's fun. I've done that
• 44:46
Speaker 1: in my life before, and I like that feeling because
• 44:48
Speaker 1: there's no ties to anyone and you're just like you
• 44:51
Speaker 1: can let people know you're not available for anything more
• 44:53
Speaker 1: serious and most guys are totally downe with that anyway.
• 44:56
Speaker 1: So oh yeah, yeah, for sure. Well Jackie, let us
• 45:03
Speaker 1: know what you posted. When you make your fucking decision
• 45:05
Speaker 1: and make some and take some action and let us
• 45:08
Speaker 1: know what happens. I will thank you so much, all right, Jackie.
• 45:12
Speaker 1: Sorry Jackie By, that's a stumper that was all over
• 45:17
Speaker 1: the shop. I was like, wait, what and then they're
• 45:20
  Speaker 1: not together. It's like, wait, I don't understand. I was
• 45:22
Speaker 1: excited when I thought she was having an affair. I
• 45:25
Speaker 1: love to listen. This is I love listening to people
• 45:30
Speaker 1: talk about affairs like I love on shows when there's affairs,
• 45:32
Speaker 1: I love it. I don't know why I wanted that too,
• 45:36
Speaker 1: I rued it. Sorry, guys, I wanted I wanted it.
• 45:39
Speaker 1: I wanted it more messy. I want some Jerry Spring
• 45:43
Speaker 1: your ship coming at us with your messy staff. Guys, Well,
• 45:47
Speaker 1: our next color is lucky. Lucky says. I'm not sure
• 45:52
Speaker 1: if you'll ever read this, but what the hell? Three
• 45:54
Speaker 1: months ago I started doing stand up after I graduated
• 45:57
Speaker 1: from college and film. A lot of my professor has
• 46:00
Speaker 1: told me to go into grad school or some sort
• 46:02
Speaker 1: of writing program for comedy, so I went with the
• 46:04
Speaker 1: free option of stand up. Apparently I'm very good, which
• 46:07
Speaker 1: is still surprising to me since a lot of my
• 46:09
Speaker 1: material is me being a lesbian and non binary and
• 46:12
Speaker 1: I live in the close thing to a city in Montana.
• 46:15
Speaker 1: A lot of comics in my area I've looked up
• 46:17
Speaker 1: to have praised and supported me these past three months,
• 46:20
Speaker 1: and I'm forever grateful. Recently want to even help me
• 46:23
Speaker 1: get my first paid guest spot for an upcoming show.
• 46:26
Speaker 1: The one thing that all the comedians have told me
• 46:28
Speaker 1: that I should work on is my confidence. Like a
• 46:31
Speaker 1: lot of comedians, I'm a byproduct of trauma, autism, and
• 46:34
Speaker 1: Catholic shame, so I can sometimes crumble with my confidence
• 46:37
Speaker 1: waivers and always have the cadence of someone who's unsure
• 46:40
Speaker 1: what they're saying. Even though I'm only going to be
• 46:42
Speaker 1: on the stage for five minutes, i still want to
• 46:44
Speaker 1: do really well since there's a guy there who books
• 46:47
Speaker 1: you more gigs if he likes your stuff. Plus, I
• 46:49
Speaker 1: want to be good for all the comedians that have
• 46:51
Speaker 1: supported me and believed in me? How do I gain
• 46:53
Speaker 1: more confidence in the next two weeks, or at least
• 46:56
Speaker 1: learn how to fake it? Lucky and Lucky's twenty three
• 46:59
Speaker 1: and Lucky here with us as well. Hi Lucky, Hello, Hi,
• 47:05
Speaker 1: this is Michael, our special guest today. Are you doing, Lucky?
• 47:08
Speaker 1: I'm I'm the special guest. Actually head into my contract
• 47:12
Speaker 1: Chelsea to refer to me as a very special guest.
• 47:14
Speaker 1: I ripped up you. I ripped up your contract before
• 47:17
Speaker 1: the podcast. All right, anyway, Lucky, I'm supposed to be
• 47:20
Speaker 1: referred to as the very special guest. But that's all right,
• 47:25
Speaker 1: sounds good. I'm just ship right now, Lucky. So you
• 47:31
Speaker 1: want to build your confidence in two weeks? Yeah, what's
• 47:35
Speaker 1: the two weeks? Is that a showcase or something? Yeah,
• 47:38
Speaker 1: it's I'm opening for another comedian who is coming into
• 47:42
Speaker 1: the only really comedy place we have in Montana. So well,
• 47:48
Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of exercises you can do,
• 47:50
Speaker 1: Like if you just do ship that scares you for
• 47:52
Speaker 1: the next two weeks, or you go and just start
• 47:53
Speaker 1: doing stand up in front of stores or where people
• 47:56
Speaker 1: aren't gathered to do stand up that was That's gonna
• 47:59
Speaker 1: be a way to build your offidence, extreme situations that
• 48:02
Speaker 1: you're not comfortable in and putting yourself out there, like
• 48:05
Speaker 1: standing outside of a grocery store asking people if they
• 48:08
Speaker 1: want to hear your material. That would probably build a
• 48:10
Speaker 1: lot of confidence because there's gonna be a lot of rejection,
• 48:13
Speaker 1: and that's also confidence building. It doesn't seem like it
• 48:16
Speaker 1: works that way, but over time and over like hits
• 48:19
Speaker 1: and misses, you do that is how you build confidence.
• 48:22
Speaker 1: The only way you're gonna build confidence is with more
• 48:24
Speaker 1: stage time. So I would create that stage time in
• 48:27
Speaker 1: places where no one's expecting to see comedy, so you
• 48:29
Speaker 1: can have the worst possible scenarios and that way, when
• 48:33
Speaker 1: you're in a comedy club it won't even compare to that.
• 48:36
Speaker 1: That definitely makes a lot of sense. I agree. I
• 48:39
  Speaker 1: think that's a really good advice. I always think it's
• 48:42
Speaker 1: good advice to to take a deep breath, but I
• 48:45
Speaker 1: think based on where you are and the limited amount
• 48:47
Speaker 1: of stage time you're gonna be able to get, I
• 48:49
Speaker 1: think that's really good advice that Chelsea game. Even though
• 48:51
Speaker 1: I'm the very special guests and I thought I was
• 48:54
Speaker 1: gonna be the person given great advice, I don't think
• 48:56
Speaker 1: I could top that, but just relax. I think the
• 48:59
Speaker 1: most important thing is just relax and to trust yourself
• 49:02
Speaker 1: and to trust your instincts. And I know that sounds generic,
• 49:05
Speaker 1: but that I mean, at the end of the day,
• 49:06
Speaker 1: that's all you could do and know your material and
• 49:09
Speaker 1: and and you know hopefully you'll love Just take a
• 49:12
Speaker 1: big deep breath before you get up there and have fun.
• 49:15
Speaker 1: It's comedy. You if you're not having fun, the crowd
• 49:18
Speaker 1: can have fun. Yeah, those things are generic, but they're true.
• 49:21
Speaker 1: The reason why that people say them so frequently is
• 49:24
Speaker 1: because all of those things are true. You want to
• 49:26
Speaker 1: be able to be present on stage and be like
• 49:29
Speaker 1: in the moment and actually enjoying yourself, right. You want
• 49:32
Speaker 1: to remember each moment and be like secure in that.
• 49:34
Speaker 1: And the more you remind yourself, I always feel like
• 49:37
Speaker 1: when you're present and not distracted, like nothing can go
• 49:41
Speaker 1: wrong because you're really in the moment and you're reacting
• 49:44
Speaker 1: in real time. And yeah, you have your jokes and
• 49:46
Speaker 1: your material set up, but you've got that. That's what
• 49:48
Speaker 1: you've got. The other things that you can't control are
• 49:51
Speaker 1: the things that you can just be present for and
• 49:53
Speaker 1: be aware of. And I feel like nothing can go
• 49:55
Speaker 1: wrong when you're really focused and honed in on something
• 49:58
Speaker 1: you know. And I would definitely do even go over
• 50:00
Speaker 1: to your friend's houses, go to your family's houses and
• 50:03
Speaker 1: fucking make them listen to you, do stand up. Just
• 50:05
Speaker 1: keep putting yourself in really awkward situations and I think
• 50:08
Speaker 1: it'll lend itself to giving you more confidence. Yeah, no, definitely.
• 50:11
Speaker 1: I will probably refrained from my parents because they might
• 50:14
Speaker 1: not like the jokes I have most of the things
• 50:16
Speaker 1: about them, But who cares. That's even more, that's even better.
• 50:20
Speaker 1: Let them be squirm and that way. You know, that's
• 50:22
Speaker 1: going to be awkward. Getting through awkward moments with confidence,
• 50:25
Speaker 1: you know that's what you want to do, and so
• 50:27
Speaker 1: that's okay. Yeah, I will say this is a very
• 50:30
Speaker 1: awkward moment for me, so I'm it's good exercise. Yeah.
• 50:34
Speaker 1: And by the way, not every comedian has to be
• 50:36
Speaker 1: the most confident. There's a lot of weird comics out
• 50:39
Speaker 1: there that have like a weird energy about them where
• 50:42
Speaker 1: they don't exude confidence. Michael, you would agree with me,
• 50:44
Speaker 1: wouldn't you. You don't have to exude confidence. But do
• 50:48
Speaker 1: you think, Chelsea that some comedians it's almost like a
• 50:51
Speaker 1: character that they're doing that because I always think like
• 50:54
Speaker 1: those kinds of comedians, whether it's the one that pops
• 50:57
Speaker 1: into my head I was thinking about recently and I
• 51:00
Speaker 1: used to see him all the time, Emo Phillips. You're like,
• 51:03
Speaker 1: this fucking guy seems like he's in pain walking down
• 51:05
Speaker 1: the street, but yet to have the balls to go
• 51:08
Speaker 1: on stage, there has to be a certain amount of confidence.
• 51:11
Speaker 1: I don't know that's the person that came in my head,
• 51:13
Speaker 1: but there's a lot of people that play that sort
• 51:15
Speaker 1: of role. But to me, it's sort of like it's
• 51:17
Speaker 1: a character. Do you think so, Chelsea, you're knowl Yeah,
• 51:19
Speaker 1: I agree. I think that a lot of people are
• 51:21
Speaker 1: playing up this kind of persona or character, if you will.
• 51:24
Speaker 1: But I do think there's a lot of people like
• 51:26
Speaker 1: there's a difference between stage presence and confidence. Also, I
• 51:30
Speaker 1: think what you really want is stage presence, right, because
• 51:33
Speaker 1: it might be part of your comedy that you're not
• 51:36
Speaker 1: that confident, you know, So I think that's more important
• 51:39
Speaker 1: to think about about, like commanding a stage and being
• 51:42
Speaker 1: out there and making sure that nobody's going to trample
• 51:45
Speaker 1: on you or nobody's gonna try and heckle you, like
• 51:47
Speaker 1: that's more of a stage presence where you're commanding the
• 51:50
Speaker 1: audience's attention, and I think that would probably be a
• 51:53
Speaker 1: better focus than trying to instill the confidence because that
• 51:57
Speaker 1: just comes with time and with time spent on stage age.
• 52:00
Speaker 1: I mean, I stand by doing those exercises still, but
• 52:04
Speaker 1: you know, just kind of a delineation of the two words. Luck.
• 52:07
Speaker 1: You're getting world class advice from Chelsea here. That's a
• 52:10
Speaker 1: good ship you're getting here. Yeah. No, this is a
• 52:13
Speaker 1: very surreal moment for me, considering I used to watch
• 52:15
Speaker 1: Chelsea Um as a kid and why I'm doing this now.
• 52:19
Speaker 1: So this is a good good Make sure you have fun, Lucky.
• 52:25
Speaker 1: Don't put too much pressure on yourself. You're not jumping
• 52:27
  Speaker 1: off a cliff. You ain't taking the s a t.
• 52:31
Speaker 1: You know, there's far more things that the ramifications are
• 52:34
Speaker 1: going to be worse. You've made people laugh before they're
• 52:37
Speaker 1: gonna laugh again. Just have a good time. Thank you.
• 52:40
Speaker 1: I appreciate it so much, and you guys taking the
• 52:43
Speaker 1: time to tell me all this. Absolutely, honey, we're on
• 52:46
Speaker 1: your team. We're on team Lucky. Yes, and what a
• 52:50
Speaker 1: fantastic name. Also, thank you, I Joseph myself, I love
• 52:54
Speaker 1: that good for you, Good for you. All right, Lucky, Well,
• 52:58
Speaker 1: let us know how it goes, and you're gonna do great.
• 53:02
Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Okay, take care and try and
• 53:05
Speaker 1: get out of Wyoming as soon as you can. Okay,
• 53:09
Speaker 1: it is the same thing actually, By lucky God. I
• 53:15
Speaker 1: can't believe people even have stand up comedy clubs there.
• 53:17
  Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever performed in Montana. I mean
• 53:20
Speaker 1: it's just open spaces. Really. I think you just got
• 53:22
Speaker 1: into a field and started telling jokes to the wheat
• 53:25
Speaker 1: or what's in Montana? Yeah, there's a ski resort in Montana.
• 53:29
Speaker 1: That's all I know about Montana. We drove across Montana
• 53:33
Speaker 1: actually last year and it was the weirdest thing. It
• 53:35
Speaker 1: was super flat and they were just these like you
• 53:37
Speaker 1: could see storms in the distance, but you just see
• 53:39
Speaker 1: a column of rain coming from a cloud. It wasn't
• 53:42
Speaker 1: like the whole you know, distance was filled with rain.
• 53:46
Speaker 1: And we wound up driving through one It was just
• 53:48
Speaker 1: a downpour and we out the other side and like
• 53:50
Speaker 1: five minutes it was the most bonkers weather I've ever seen.
• 53:53
Speaker 1: It sounds like one of those rain do you know
• 53:54
Speaker 1: how you see those on social media now, those like twisters,
• 53:56
Speaker 1: but they have them over water where they pull up
• 53:59
Speaker 1: the water. I'm like, what the fund is that. I
• 54:02
Speaker 1: don't want to be have a fucking boat and run
• 54:03
Speaker 1: into one of those though. No, thank you. Well, let's
• 54:07
Speaker 1: take a quick break and we'll be right back to
• 54:09
Speaker 1: finish up with Michael and Chelsea. And we're back. Well,
• 54:17
Speaker 1: this is the part of the show, Michael where we
• 54:19
Speaker 1: would like to know if you would like any advice
• 54:21
Speaker 1: from Chelsea. What advice could I ask from Chelsea handler
• 54:27
Speaker 1: parenting advice? Well, my kids are twenty and twenty two,
• 54:32
Speaker 1: so they're boys. The fuck you got kids, Chelsea? No,
• 54:37
Speaker 1: you're gonna have kids. I'm seven. I can't have kids anymore.
• 54:40
Speaker 1: I hope you might. You never know. I'm not sucking
• 54:45
Speaker 1: pulling any ship like that. I don't like that. I
• 54:46
Speaker 1: don't like having babies at fifty. I'm not down for that.
• 54:50
Speaker 1: Do you want any kids? No? I did if I had.
• 54:52
Speaker 1: If I wanted kids, I would have had them. I
• 54:54
Speaker 1: don't have time for that. I'm too selfish. I like
• 54:56
Speaker 1: my life. I'm not interested in raising anybody or being responsible,
• 55:00
Speaker 1: you know, having to provide them with all the information
• 55:02
Speaker 1: that comes along with having to parent. First of all,
• 55:05
Speaker 1: they ask too many questions. That's annoying, you know, I mean,
• 55:08
Speaker 1: I can't even handle all the questions. And then I
• 55:12
Speaker 1: don't think insessantness is a word, but maybe it is.
• 55:14
  Speaker 1: I'll look it up. I'm sure it'll be a word
• 55:16
Speaker 1: by the end of the week. Here's a question I
• 55:19
  Speaker 1: have for you, Chelsea. You're a ship talker. I I
• 55:23
Speaker 1: consider myself a ship talker. I say that with all
• 55:25
Speaker 1: due respect. How do you maintain your ship talking superpowers
• 55:32
Speaker 1: in this delicate cancel culture, day and age without compromising
• 55:38
Speaker 1: your ship talking superpowers and your gut instinct to talk ship?
• 55:43
Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm saying? Well, I think the
• 55:45
Speaker 1: rules are very simple. We're we're not supposed to be
• 55:48
Speaker 1: racist and we're not supposed to be sexist. That's it.
• 55:51
Speaker 1: As long as you're not discriminating against a certain group
• 55:54
Speaker 1: of people within your ship talking as you say, then
• 55:58
Speaker 1: there is no problem. I don't feel like that's such
• 56:01
  Speaker 1: a tall order. I feel like if I don't have
• 56:03
Speaker 1: to be racist or sexist, that okay. Great. I like parameters.
• 56:06
Speaker 1: It makes you more clever, and you know, when you're
• 56:09
Speaker 1: picking fights with people, make sure you're picking them with
• 56:11
Speaker 1: the people that you disagree with on a value level,
• 56:14
Speaker 1: you know, if you're talking of I mean we're talking
• 56:16
Speaker 1: about like Republicans and Trump and and Kanye, like those
• 56:19
Speaker 1: are pretty big targets and and and rightfully so, you know,
• 56:24
Speaker 1: and deserving of it. So I just think about it
• 56:27
Speaker 1: in terms like that. It doesn't limit my personality or
• 56:30
Speaker 1: make me you know, I mean, we can all be
• 56:32
Speaker 1: kinder and gentler, but it's not going to take away
• 56:34
Speaker 1: my pizzaz or whatever the funk it is, you know,
• 56:36
Speaker 1: my ability to call somebody out when they're acting like
• 56:39
Speaker 1: an idiot, a or an asshole. And there are also
• 56:43
Speaker 1: a varying degrees of ways to say those things, you know,
• 56:47
Speaker 1: right right there, there definitely are varying ways to say things.
• 56:51
Speaker 1: You know, I choose my persona. It doesn't allow me.
• 56:55
Speaker 1: I'm not gonna play Kate and be delicate with these
• 56:57
Speaker 1: with these people, you know, especially when it's coming at
• 57:01
Speaker 1: the Jews. Because also I have such a um. I
• 57:04
Speaker 1: don't like the stereotypes, particularly in show business of Jewish men.
• 57:10
Speaker 1: You know, I do not like them. They're they're perpetuated.
• 57:13
Speaker 1: That's part of who I am, It's part of who
• 57:14
Speaker 1: my family is. But I feel like that's all we
• 57:17
Speaker 1: get to see for the most part with Jewish men,
• 57:20
  Speaker 1: and I don't like that. I don't like that. Well,
• 57:22
Speaker 1: I mean, I think those are two separate issues, you know.
• 57:25
Speaker 1: I mean, I think does yeah. I just think listen,
• 57:28
Speaker 1: nobody wants to be discriminated against, and nobody wants to be,
• 57:31
Speaker 1: you know, be told. That's just like human decency, like
• 57:34
Speaker 1: we should evolve, right, we should understand that that's not
• 57:37
Speaker 1: a pleasant feeling. And I think that, you know, real
• 57:39
Speaker 1: comedy comes from self deprecation, like when you're starting out
• 57:43
Speaker 1: with yourself, then you can have more leeway to go
• 57:45
Speaker 1: after other people, because you have to be an egalitarian
• 57:48
Speaker 1: about it, right, and we just can't just hand pick
• 57:52
Speaker 1: certain groups, or I mean the Jewish thing, the conversation,
• 57:55
Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about a couple of different things here,
• 57:57
Speaker 1: but people not standing up for Jewish people. I think
• 57:59
Speaker 1: you kind of touched upon which I think a lot
• 58:02
Speaker 1: of people assume that Jewish people can take care of themselves,
• 58:05
Speaker 1: which is not helpful and it's a falsehood. It's like,
• 58:08
Speaker 1: if you're gonna stand up for BLM. I also read
• 58:10
Speaker 1: this woman's post yesterday who was saying she was so
• 58:12
Speaker 1: pissed that all these white people were going up talking
• 58:15
Speaker 1: about standing up for Jews, yet where were they for BLM?
• 58:17
Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, wait a second, I was. We
• 58:19
Speaker 1: were all right there. What are you talking about? I mean,
• 58:21
Speaker 1: not all of us, but I know I was. I
• 58:23
Speaker 1: know you were. I know you were. So it's an
• 58:25
Speaker 1: unfortunate conversation to constantly have. But I don't think we're
• 58:30
Speaker 1: going to move past it until we just get it right.
• 58:32
Speaker 1: We keep rehashing it and rehashing it, and then then
• 58:35
Speaker 1: there's all this resistance to it, and it's like, cool,
• 58:38
Speaker 1: well this is limiting my behavior, like your personality or
• 58:41
Speaker 1: your persona, which I would argue is your personality. It's
• 58:43
  Speaker 1: not a persona, that's who you are. You're not a
• 58:47
Speaker 1: discriminatory guy. So I don't think that you have that
• 58:50
Speaker 1: much to worry about, you know what I mean, You're
• 58:51
Speaker 1: not coming from some nasty place. You're not on bright
• 58:54
Speaker 1: Bard if that's still up and running hopefully not. You know,
• 58:58
  Speaker 1: I don't I don't look at you like, oh, you're
• 59:00
Speaker 1: gonna have to watch what you say. And I don't
• 59:02
Speaker 1: think I have to watch what I say because I'm
• 59:04
Speaker 1: not a fucking idiot. You know, I know better, Like
• 59:07
Speaker 1: when you know better, you do better, as Oprah says.
• 59:10
Speaker 1: But it's true. It's like, oh, we're all educated on
• 59:13
Speaker 1: it now, you know, Like let's just behave in a
• 59:16
Speaker 1: little bit more mindful way, especially with the ship that's
• 59:19
Speaker 1: going on. I like to put out good vibes, but
• 59:21
Speaker 1: I'm not going to be soft ever. I'm always going
• 59:23
Speaker 1: to be a cunt, like that's part of my DNA, Right,
• 59:28
  Speaker 1: I got you. That's good. I like that. I mean,
• 59:30
Speaker 1: this whole episode was all over the shop. I think
• 59:33
Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We had calls that we're
• 59:35
Speaker 1: making sense, predicaments that aren't making sense, conversations that are circular,
• 59:39
Speaker 1: but whatever. I mean, it's a good fucking day at work.
• 59:42
Speaker 1: Then isn't it just to be more confused than when
• 59:44
Speaker 1: we started? We didn't solve anything today. This is a
• 59:49
Speaker 1: hot mess. But I love you, Michael Rappaport. I love you.
• 59:52
Speaker 1: You're entertaining. You entertaining. That's my booklyn accent. You're entertaining.

• 1:01:02
Speaker 1: I just shot my special and so yeah, now I'll
• 1:01:04
Speaker 1: use these dates to come up with new materials. So
• 1:01:06
Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck, I don't have time to be writing
• 1:01:08
Speaker 1: fucking material. I mean I do, but I'm not writing it.
