- 0:24Hey guys, sneak from fake News here just to join you for a few
- 0:27words. Talk about a new EP called Time and Place. It's just been
- 0:31released. It's pretty bloody good. If you haven't had a listened to it
- 0:35yet, you probably should because you will enjoy it. Promise me. Thanks
- 0:40for join us, IVAD, and I'm going to reiterate at that point and
- 0:42saying you're not full of shit, because I've heard it and it is pretty
- 0:45bloody good. Thank you, bores. It Also News released the new EP,
- 0:51Time and Place a couple of days ago. Now, mate, So
- 0:54how does it feeled. I finally have it out there for the world to
- 0:57judge. Oh, it's great. Yeah, we've been hanging on to it
- 1:00for too long. You know, it's been sitting there, wait and just
- 1:03getting all the pieces in place. You know that you've got to have to
- 1:06release the music. And you know, we had a couple of singles come
- 1:08out and the lead up to it, and yeah, that was all good.
- 1:11But it's great to get the EP out there and just this is it.
- 1:15This is what we've been working on, you know, like and just
- 1:17to see people's reactions to it and you know, like it. It's been
- 1:21going pretty well, and that's what we expected. Like, we haven't changed
- 1:23our style much in a way, Like we've just stuck with the tried and
- 1:27true formula that that we love and that other people love. So yeah,
- 1:32you can't go wrong with that. Well, you mentioned that process that you
- 1:34go through before releasing it, you know, like the time to take the
- 1:38singles and all this other crap. But what's that period like for you,
- 1:41mate, Like do you sort of sit back and listen to it and hear
- 1:42things and go, fuck, maybe I should have done that, or do
- 1:46you put it to bed and just move on because you know there's nothing you
- 1:49can do about it. Uh, yeah, it's not that there's nothing you
- 1:52can do about it. You can do something about it if you really want.
- 1:55But once we've recorded like that and it's done and everything's set, it's
- 2:00don't want to go back on it. You know, there's always something that
- 2:02you're going to say, Oh Jesus, wish i'd have done that there.
- 2:06We could have done that there, But in the grand scheme of things,
- 2:08it doesn't really make that much a difference. And most of the time we're
- 2:12the only people that will ever know that, you know, we're the ones
- 2:15that scrutinize it probably more than anyone else. No, we're definitely happy with
- 2:20the overall product. You know, like we recorded it over twelve months ago
- 2:23now, like the start of the guitars and drums and stuff anyway, So
- 2:29you know, it's been a long, long process in the make and I
- 2:30forgot how to play the song has been that long if it's something to do
- 2:35in his spare time. So tell us a bit more about the EP from
- 2:39a musical point of view, Abandon and what you were going for with it.
- 2:43Yeah, Look, we're just trying to continue on what we started,
- 2:46you know, like we've had a couple of releases Previous and Double Gone well,
- 2:52and you know, I've been getting great acclaim all over the place for
- 2:54it, and you know, we're just trying to do what we do,
- 2:58what we enjoy, you know, the things that come naturally to us.
- 3:00And yeah, we're not trying to step outside the box and write some completely
- 3:07different, weird, strange album just to do something different. You know,
- 3:09We're just we're out just to make good music that we enjoy and that other
- 3:15people enjoy. And you know, I think we've we've sort of hit it
- 3:19with that you know, like it's it's right along the lines of what we've
- 3:23done previously without being the same songs. You know, we obviously don't want
- 3:27to release the same album over and over again, but we want to stay
- 3:30true to to what we're doing, which, yeah, I think we have
- 3:34along those lines. Bro, Like, how what sort of difference is it?
- 3:38They might be subtle, but what sort of differences are there musically between
- 3:40this CP and last year's Take Me Away? Yeah, subtleties. I guess
- 3:46they're not that far removed from each other, like even time wise, probably
- 3:52a little bit differently vocally, like you know, Tim sort of took his
- 3:57time with getting the vocals down and just just changed your things. We wrote
- 4:00a couple of ones just to make it that little bit edgy, you stand
- 4:03out a bit more, And I think that's that's kind of come through,
- 4:06Like there's a couple of songs on there that certainly are you know, a
- 4:11little bit different to what we've done before in that way with the vocal wise,
- 4:15But yeah, it's just with the production, you know, the recording.
- 4:18We take our time to get it right, you know, like we're
- 4:23thinking about what we're doing when we're going in to do it, So we're
- 4:27just try and try and make our mark in that way, you know,
- 4:30like we get it right the first time sort of thing and just let it
- 4:34go from there. But yeah, look, really it's it's what comes naturally.
- 4:39Like we're not forcing anything, We're not trying to be something we're not.
- 4:42We're just doing what we do, playing punk rock and having a bloody
- 4:46good time doing it. Oh yeah, right now, there's only six tracks
- 4:48on the EP, mate, so I want to run through them all one
- 4:51by one with you and just tell us a bit more about this song and
- 4:55how it represents fake news in twenty twenty four. So you start off with
- 4:59moving On. Yeah, moving On, Well, that was obviously the first
- 5:02single we did. The main clip for that was kind of the the title
- 5:08track in a way, you know, like when we had all the tracks
- 5:11there, we figured, oh, this is this is the first single,
- 5:13I think, you know, it just had that that catching us to it,
- 5:15that popping us to it. You know, it's got nice driving guitars
- 5:20and drums. You know, it's not like it's overly soft or poppy,
- 5:24but you know, the lyrics are positive also uplifting, which is what we
- 5:29always try and do you know, like try and send a positive message out
- 5:31and just yeah, just just get that out. People spread it, spread
- 5:34it around. But you know it's again, it's just it just falls into
- 5:40place, like what we do just just work. So I don't know,
- 5:43it's just always been that way ever since we've been in the band. You
- 5:46know, like we're just do what comes and actually do what feels good,
- 5:49and it comes out on the songs. It shines through. You know,
- 5:54like every song is independently a little bit different to each other, but they're
- 5:59all collectively sort of in the same basket, you know. Yeah, okay,
- 6:05second track is no weakness, sounds like it could be off a Cobra
- 6:09Kai. Yeah, that was our inspiration. Now, yeah, this one,
- 6:15that song's ballt area. You know, like we've had that song in
- 6:17the wings for a while and never really did anything with it, and yeah,
- 6:23we kind of put it, resurrected it again and put it out to
- 6:26Tim and said, hey, you know, let's let's get something going for
- 6:29this because this is high energy, high output song. Like from the second
- 6:33it starts to the second it finishes, it's it's a go it gets you
- 6:36movement, it's it's a mosh put moshpit monster that one, you know,
- 6:40so yeah, like it's it can be classed as a hardcore song in some
- 6:45ways, but the vocals obviously we don't do necessarily hardcore per se, but
- 6:50it's still along those sort of lines, you know, like it's the very
- 6:56differing tracks, you know, when you come from the first track of of
- 7:00radio to then the second track with no weakness. It's really smashing the faces,
- 7:04like whoa Wand I wasn't expecting that one. This is off, you
- 7:06know, it's off like a rocketl Well, speaking of radiote, that one's
- 7:13up next, So I tell us a bit about that one. Yeah,
- 7:15yeah, Radio. That's that's again. Another one we sort of had waiting
- 7:17in the wings and it's just just too good to not use, you know,
- 7:21so we yeah, we've got Timmy to sit down, let's put some
- 7:26vocals to this fella. And you know, it was just well the opposite
- 7:30vocals had come out with We're like, whoa, that is super poppy,
- 7:33you know, that is something that could be on the radio, you know,
- 7:36and that's kind of what he was going for. Like when when he
- 7:40heard the song, he's like, oh yeah, okay, I've got an
- 7:42idea for this, and it's let him do his thing and yeah, come
- 7:46back with it. And it's like, oh yeah, you've kind of captured
- 7:47that. It's it's definitely kind of the epitome of pop punk, I think
- 7:54that song. But yeah, there's still some some pretty chunky wrists in it
- 7:57and stuff, but it's got that really popp feel to it and people love
- 8:01it. You know. It's made to made to make people sing along,
- 8:03you know. That's that's the idea of it. It's to sing a long
- 8:05song. Wait there you got not giving up? Yeah, not giving up.
- 8:11Yeah, that's another one that's that's probably i'd say a Darren Crowe special,
- 8:15that one he's that's that's cut from his lines. But yeah, it's
- 8:20it's another song that we just started writing and it just come together. So
- 8:26we crazy like bust busted the rift down and it was done to set off
- 8:33to Timmy and Timmy's got vocals to it in no time at all, you
- 8:37know, and it just again it just just fits, just works doing what
- 8:41we do. But he's got that some powerhouse vocals in there, you know,
- 8:46like really really good chance to exercise his vocal range and and that through
- 8:52that song and you know, he's busting it out, and we've been playing
- 8:54that song live a couple of times, and it is it's just so fun,
- 8:58like really really sort of hits home. I think resonates with a lot
- 9:01of people, just with the message that it's sending to, you know,
- 9:05sweet okay. Second last is Rewind Rewind. Yeah, well this was this
- 9:11song is a bit of a dark horse, you know, like we sort
- 9:13of had it. They're sitting there and it's probably different the most different,
- 9:18I guess, to all the other songs. It doesn't sort of fall along
- 9:22your normal three or four bar called punk song and that and Tim with the
- 9:28lyrics, he did something completely different to what we're initially expecting because again,
- 9:31he had some lyrics there to start, and he wasn't quite happy with him,
- 9:35and he went away and rewrote him and we sort of didn't really hear
- 9:39it properly until he was laying down the vocals and we got it back and
- 9:43I was like, oh, okay, that's different. And it took me
- 9:46a few goes for it really sunk in. I was like, man,
- 9:50this is good, Like it really is one of those songs that grows on
- 9:52you, you know, now it's one of my favorites. You know,
- 9:56like there was just so left field when we first did it, I was
- 10:00like, oh, okay, is this this is different? Right, I
- 10:01hope. But then, like I say, as you listen to it a
- 10:03couple of times, like, man, this is a good song. Hey,
- 10:07I think it's going to be another one of those sort of under underdog
- 10:11creat favorites. Yeah. You finish up with even Destruction, which I'm hoping
- 10:16isn't a cover of a Screaming Jets cover for Destruction it is, it is
- 10:20certainly a cover. Yeah. There we we were just playing around with a
- 10:24few things and thought, oh, this is this is fun, Like you
- 10:26know, it's it was a song that was written fifty years ago, you
- 10:31know, about things that's happened in the world and what's going on, and
- 10:35how you look at it and listen to the lyrics and it's so relevant with
- 10:39what's going on nowadays still. You know, it was written in a completely
- 10:41different time, completely different era, but yet the things that that's going on
- 10:46and happened and it just seems to come back around. And it was just
- 10:50there were like, all right, man, this is cool, let's chuck
- 10:52it on there why not, right right? I didn't notice that there's no
- 10:56song on there called Time and Place, which means the titles got to have
- 11:00a little bit more Significance's what's the what's the meaning there? Well, I
- 11:05guess it's just it's for us, Like this was the album we did this
- 11:09time, this Place. It's about where you are here, you are at
- 11:13that time, at that place. You know, wherever you are, whoever
- 11:16you are, whatever you're doing. You know, everyone has their own their
- 11:20own feel for things, things, what they're doing, things they're going through,
- 11:22you know, and this was just a time and place for for I
- 11:26guess what we were right and going through. And you know it's it's just
- 11:31a bit of a play on the with the album cover, you know,
- 11:33obviously the time travel thing and the Dolorean and what's cool everything go back and
- 11:39obviously you know it's got the even Destruction song on a song from fifty years
- 11:43ago that's kind of coming there and reborn with a bunch of punk songs that
- 11:48you wouldn't necessarily expect to see it with. But yeah, that's right,
- 11:52and everything's got a timer's place, and you know, this was our time
- 11:54and place for this EP and it just just we're throwing names out there and
- 12:00it kind of stuck and it sort of works in well, So yeah,
- 12:03we are. We're quite happy with it and that's what that's what ended up
- 12:05on the cover. If you're happy, I'm happy. Brother. So you've
- 12:09got any shows coming up to promote the eph Actually we played show on Saturday
- 12:15at a festival up the coast, but we're doing next shows not till July.
- 12:20We're doing boat cruise in Brisbane. It's yeah, New Farm, at
- 12:26least from New Farm. Some paddle steamer there. That should be pretty cool.
- 12:30Yeah, it's called Swell like yeah boat show you that should be should
- 12:35be a bit of fun, just cruising around the river, playing some drinking,
- 12:37some beers, trying not to fall off. Yeah, that's yeah.
- 12:43We'll hope, we'll see, we'll see. I'm sure that they have people
- 12:46go overboard on this. There's always the first time in there. If anyone's
- 12:52going to do it, it will probably be there on you already. Brother.
- 12:56All right, man, Well thanks very much for your time. Time
- 12:58and place is out now and where caon people get themselves hold of a copy
- 13:01of it anywhere you look. That's where we are. Spotify, Apple Music
- 13:07iTunes. We haven't done any physical copies of this one. We thought CDs
- 13:13not. People aren't really into that anymore. Vinyls just not so much.
- 13:16You're probably going to save that for the next full length. But we'll wait
- 13:20and see. But you type in fake news time and place and guarantee you
- 13:24you'll be having to listen to it. Srida's brother, Right, will not
