- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30If you hear some lots of baying from goats in the background and
- 0:35some banging, that is because my neighbor's farm, his goats are
- 0:40out very early this morning and they apparently are having a
- 0:43quite a little squabble among themselves.
- 0:45So if you're banging, it's just male goats arguing anyway.
- 0:49OK, so let's talk about darker thoughts.
- 0:52I've had lots of conversations recently with clients who have
- 0:56brought up being around people or themselves having what they
- 1:01would describe as darker thoughts.
- 1:03And how do I describe a darker thought?
- 1:06Well, I think it's just when we're not being on the positive,
- 1:09we're being towards the negative.
- 1:10We can call it a darker thought. But if you're having really dark
- 1:14thoughts and they're extended for a really period, longer
- 1:17period of time, you really do need to go talk to somebody and
- 1:20get help for that. Because darker thoughts are part
- 1:23of our process. Yes, we all have them, myself
- 1:26included. But keeping them hanging on to
- 1:29them and letting them become part of my normal philosophy and
- 1:35headspace is not never a good idea.
- 1:38Letting them take up residency in my head is never a good idea,
- 1:42Never a good idea. It will drive you to a place
- 1:45where you will not become healthy.
- 1:46And that's why I'm saying if you're having those, then go do
- 1:49something about it quickly because that is definitely
- 1:53something to think about. Now I'm talking about normal.
- 1:56Everyday these things just pop up.
- 1:59I don't hang on to them for most of the day.
- 2:01They go. They might pop up over time.
- 2:03Over the course of a week or so. You might have them a few times
- 2:06or you might be in a situation where you're dealing with one
- 2:09person and over the course of a month those thoughts keep coming
- 2:12up with that person. Over the course of a lifetime,
- 2:15sometimes when you're around some people, thoughts come up.
- 2:19Is this normal? Yes, it's very normal.
- 2:23Our minds are not linear. Our minds are very circular, and
- 2:27things will rotate through our minds.
- 2:29We have to remember that. So it's incredibly important to
- 2:33realize that your mind has the ability to heal itself, torture
- 2:40itself. It's an amazing, amazing tool
- 2:44and it can make us wonder, well, why do I keep looping back to
- 2:48this? The real, the reality is it
- 2:50comes back because we're trying to solve a problem.
- 2:53We're trying to figure something out.
- 2:55Problem solving is a huge part of what our brains do all day
- 2:59long. And I mean, they keep us alive
- 3:01for sure because they're running all the other functions in our
- 3:03body that we don't think about. Breathing, you know, heart rate,
- 3:07all of this. It all happens from that point
- 3:10and what we have to recognize is that it's trying to give us
- 3:15information when we are trying to solve a problem and it will
- 3:18keep bringing us back to the emotion because the emotion is
- 3:21part of the guidance system. So when you feel it, when you
- 3:25are feeling that pull, when you are feeling that tug, when you
- 3:28are feeling the negative source coming up, always, always,
- 3:34always debrief yourself and say, where do I project this is
- 3:38coming from? What is this trying to tell me?
- 3:40What information is it sharing with me?
- 3:43And once you get that portion out of your head on paper
- 3:48somewhere, record it. I don't care what you do with
- 3:51it. But once you get it out, then
- 3:53you can actually sit and ask yourself, is this real or
- 3:56perceived? Is this something that I need to
- 3:58pay attention to or am I making this up?
- 4:01And sometimes we do need to have other people tell us, no, you're
- 4:05not making it up. That's not normal.
- 4:07I've had more than one client over my course of, you know, 26
- 4:12years of doing this, 27 years of doing this now that are very
- 4:17clear on the fact that I gave them the freedom by telling
- 4:21them, no, that's not normal. That's not a normal thing to
- 4:24experience When they have, you know, a person in their life
- 4:29that's doing something to them or providing them with, you
- 4:33know, information about them themselves, saying, oh, well,
- 4:36you're this and you're this and you're this.
- 4:38But you know that that's not what that person is doing.
- 4:40And I've said, no, that's not normal.
- 4:42That's manipulation. And then they go, oh, OK, But if
- 4:45they hadn't told me about it this whole time, they would have
- 4:48thought that they were the person that was, you know, in
- 4:52the wrong. And sometimes just talking about
- 4:55it to somebody relieves the pressure, gives you the
- 4:57information. I know for me that is freeing
- 5:00that that's why I have a coach because I can go out and I can
- 5:03speak to him and I can tell him. And he says to me, well, I don't
- 5:09I don't find that that to be in line.
- 5:11He's very, you know, as am I not right and wrong, but it's is it
- 5:17in line? And sometimes you just have to
- 5:19say, no, this is not in line. This is not normal.
- 5:21And he will say that and he will say that needs to be looked at.
- 5:24That needs to be course corrected as do I tell my
- 5:27clients that? So the beginning of handling
- 5:31these thoughts is recognizing where they're coming from.
- 5:34They're normal unless they're overbearing.
- 5:36And then you need to go get help outside of here listening to
- 5:40this, you should seek other help.
- 5:43But for the most of us, we can do this by debriefing it and
- 5:47potentially, you know, talking to somebody else.
- 5:50That's a neutral source for yourself.
- 5:52But get it out of your head. Don't let it sit in there
- 5:54because that's never helpful. OK, my friends, I hope you have
- 5:57a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:59Bye.
