  Speaker 1: It is time right now for today's word. Choose joy

  Speaker 1: no matter what. Choose joy no matter what. 1 Thessalonians 5.16 says,

  Speaker 1: Be happy in your faith and rejoice and be glad-hearted

  Speaker 1: continually always. Have you ever noticed how two people can
• 0:26
  Speaker 1: experience the exact same situation, but they respond completely differently?

  Speaker 1: One person sees a problem and immediately becomes discouraged. Another
• 0:35
  Speaker 1: person sees the same problem and says, I'll figure this out.
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: God is going to help me. See, the difference is
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: often perspective. There's a humorous story about a woman who
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and noticed
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: she had only three hairs on her head. Instead of
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: becoming upset, she smiled and said, I think I'll braid
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: my hair today. And she went on to have a
• 1:00
  Speaker 1: great day. The next morning, she only had two hairs.

  Speaker 1: She said, I think I'll part my hair down the
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: middle today. And she had another wonderful day. The next morning,

  Speaker 1: there was only one hair left. She smiled and said,
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: today I'm going to wear a ponytail. And she had
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: a fun, fun day. Then came the morning when she
• 1:19
  Speaker 1: looked in the mirror and realized she didn't have a
• 1:23
  Speaker 1: single hair on her head. Her response, yay, I don't
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: have to fix my hair today. See, now that's a
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: perspective for you. She couldn't control how many hairs were
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: on her head, but she could control how she responded
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: to what she saw. Baby, there's a lesson for all
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: of us in that. You may not be able to
• 1:45
  Speaker 1: control everything that happens in your life, but you can
• 1:48
  Speaker 1: choose how you look at it. You can wake up
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: focusing on everything that's wrong, or you can thank God
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: for what's still right. You can complain about what you lost,
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: or you can celebrate what remains. You can focus on
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: the closed doors, or you can trust God for the
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: doors that he's open and he's preparing to open. This
• 2:10
  Speaker 1: doesn't mean you can pretend that life isn't difficult. Faith
• 2:13
  Speaker 1: doesn't deny reality. Faith simply refuses to believe that the
• 2:17
  Speaker 1: difficulty isn't the end of the story. 1 Thessalonians 5.16
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: tells us to rejoice continually. That doesn't mean we'll always
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: be happy. It means we can choose joy because our
• 2:29
  Speaker 1: hope is not based on circumstances. It's rooted in God.

  Speaker 1: So today, change your perspective. Look for something to be
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: grateful for. Find a reason to smile. Celebrate the small victories.

  Speaker 1: Encourage somebody. Thank God for another day. And when something
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: doesn't go according to plan, remind yourself God is still God.

  Speaker 1: He's still good. And God is still with me. I
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: still have a reason to rejoice. See, your outlook can
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: shape your day. So choose one filled with faith, gratitude,
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: and joy. Lord Jesus, help us to choose joy regardless
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: of what today brings. When circumstances are frustrating or disappointing,
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: remind us that you're still in control. Teach us to
• 3:13
  Speaker 1: look for blessings instead of constantly focusing on our problems.
• 3:16
  Speaker 1: Give us grateful hearts and hopeful spirits and the wisdom
• 3:20
  Speaker 1: to see every day through the eyes of faith. Help us, God,
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: to remember that even when life doesn't go as planned,
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: You're still working for good. Come on, Jesus. Today we
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: choose joy in Jesus' name. That's your word for today.

  Speaker 1: Take it, apply it to your everyday life, and you
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: continue to be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning
• 3:40
