- 1:52[SPEAKER_04]: You guys can follow them over at Brownstown USA on X. Eric, thanks for joining me today on the show.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_04]: How are you doing?
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing well.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's an honor to be here.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: So how are you today?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: Very good.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: We've had a lot of great conversations in the past on social media and things like that.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_04]: So it just made sense that it's about time we connect on the podcast here and actually do a little collaboration, especially since this is the time we've all been waiting for.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_04]: It seems like since the draft, yes, OTAs and many camp are fun and exciting and all that kind of stuff.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_04]: But it's a lot of that installation phase and everything and a lot of things are getting blown out of proportion.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_04]: But now it's training camp.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_04]: It's been the long, this is the longest five week stretch I think of the entire NFL season.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_04]: If you're like an NFL fan or diehard Browns fan, this five week summer break sucks.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_04]: Does it not?
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like, yeah, that's pretty much what it is because there's nothing going on.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, every week, we just hear the same talking points, regurgitated, spun a different way.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, as someone that's been paying attention to this, it just gets boring.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I mean, the only thing that we had to go off of happened what two weeks ago now.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: And, yeah, I don't think anybody wants to talk about that.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_04]: No, it's not the news that we would like to get during this month.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately, this has got to be like a GM's nightmare period of the NFL season because you've got all these guys in-house for the most part and they're going through training and weightlifting and conditioning and some practices during the spring.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_04]: And then you hit that summer break period.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_04]: There's a complete separation there, not with you for five weeks.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_04]: They're left to their own devices.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_04]: And unfortunately, this is when guys get in trouble.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: It always is.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, last year we had Michael Hall happened.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: It happened to Michael Hall rather this year.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's a judge.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's honestly the one downside, but, you know, hopefully now that everybody's come back to Bavaria, things can get normal.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have to wait and see on that one.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_04]: We will have to wait and see.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_04]: And really, what is normal for the Browns?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like every year there's something, there's no consistency with this team.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, as much as I like to say, there's way they got consistency with the front office and the coaching staff and all that kind of stuff.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_04]: The on-field product is up and down.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_04]: It is a roller coaster ride.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_04]: It seems like this entire regime's history.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds just this regime and you can go all the way back to really to probably two thousand two when it looked like we were actually getting ready to get on the right path and then Butch Davis fails Eric Manjini fails and it only will put out socks
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: here, Jackson, we don't want to talk about that.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: Why didn't we keep Greg Williams even though we just flamed out of New York and somehow flamed out of the XFL?
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, now it's it's I see a little bit consistency with this team, but the product needs to get more consistent, but at the same time I'll take it because at least we're not the Jets.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, there are definitely other franchises that we're so close to it as Browns fans.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously we're so close to the team that it, I say this whole time.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: It's easy to get caught up in the negativity and feel like, oh, man, whoa, is us.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_04]: Our team always has these issues and these ups and downs and all these other teams have it figured out they do not.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: They do not.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: There are other teams that, you know, while in turmoil as much as we do, the jets is one of them.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_04]: The cardinals, I know, like, come on, do you really want to be a cardinal span?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_04]: There are other teams in the league that struggle a lot.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, exactly.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, yes, there's a lot of doom and gloom at this time.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, but I feel like a lot of it's also kind of fan made as well.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we were doing gloom during the baker may field years and I feel like a lot of people love to do or just dig that up because of how well he's doing when there's no guarantee we're done the same thing here, but it's what we do.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: We like to manufacture this doom and gloom.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: From what I remember, we had how many people still in doom and gloom phases during the, uh, twenty, twenty playoff run that we had or even just two years ago, how many people were saying, well, they were good, but they didn't win.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: So we were terrible.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: They need to fire Kevin Stefansky for that.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: What are we talking about here?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_04]: I know it's it's crazy and it we talk all the time about you know you listen to dealers fans every year and they say well we need to fire Tom one that never been below five hundred now I understand that it's getting frustrating for them not being able to win a playoff game or go any further than you know round one for the last what decade that's that's got to be tough especially team that is so used to winning but
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, right.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's kind of funny also because I remember people were genuinely excited for when Andrew Barry signed his extension.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: A few steel historians I know are already saying when we're going to get bit of all more con at this point.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what it is.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, it's that level of people expecting something which believe me.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think all of us would trade that in for that immediately at this point, but at the same time, it's just like, guys, count your blessings at this point.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: You guys have had a playoff team consistently.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to hear it from it and about it.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: You guys can go phrase your ugly uniforms that you really want to.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: Man, let's talk about that real quick.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_04]: How terrible are those?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not just trying to be, you know, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a,
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, they look like soccer.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, they do.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I was actually talking with my dad last night.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: And the first thing I asked him was, hey, did you see the new uniforms with the viewers?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's just looking at me like, no, why?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: I showed him.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, so they went from bumblebee ugly to prison ugly.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Literally.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: That was the first thing I have is now.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just scrolling through Twitter and Steelers Facebook at the time.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's crazy.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like, are you guys looking at the same thing?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, okay, I'll admit, the current Steelers is classic.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: It hasn't changed in the seventies.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: I hate the bumblebees, but I can respect the hell out of the current Steelers uniforms.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: They're clean, they're crisp.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: And the logo on one side, the helmets weird, but whatever.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: But these things just look like a failed Call of Duty outfit.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like something you would see on Call of Duty while some kid that's playing mad and NFL decided, you know what?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Black helmets, let's make them yellow.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's rough, man.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: It really is.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_04]: I saw the pictures when they first came out.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_04]: No, and I was like, oh, these don't look good.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's busy.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, I think a graphic design, like I do a lot of graphic design work and stuff like that.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: And my eye instantly goes to super busy.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_04]: And then you've got like these white numbers smashed over these black verticals on the front, and then everything on the back is black.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_04]: kind of weird and I thought these look pretty rough and then as soon as I saw the merch store where it's just the jersey like there's no helmet.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_04]: There's no pants.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: There's no person wearing it.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_04]: It's just a jersey.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: I've instantly said, Oh, soccer.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's a soccer jersey.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_04]: That's what it is.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, the t-shirts even make it look just like a soccer jersey.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it sort of likely had the a few years ago.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, is it when the Browns release the special color rush t-shirts?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh, these actually look crisp.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: You look at this.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh, Pittsburgh's getting a soccer stadium soccer team.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, the best comment.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: What is someone saying?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: It goes to the jerseys that Heinz-Word was wearing in the dark night races.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'd have to go look that up to see if that's how it looks.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't remember because I just remember everything blowing up in that one scene.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, yeah.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: So does that mean that they're going to blow Pittsburgh because okay, whatever.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, crazy.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_04]: Um, not not to, okay.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: So whenever this podcast comes out for everybody to be listening to and watching, it'll be Wednesday.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: We're recording this on Tuesday.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_04]: So, right.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_04]: Just to kind of get people an idea of the timeline, but today, when you're watching listening to this for the first time, we'll be the day that the Browns finally released their new alternate helmet.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_04]: So we're talking about the Steelers just released their, and it's getting crapped on like this.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_04]: And I, I even seen Steelers fans in our comments saying, yeah, these, these are bad.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, I respect you for being honest because if the Browns helmet comes out tomorrow and I don't like it, I will say I don't like it.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to be shy about it.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't blame you.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Um, in all honesty, I don't know how I'm going to feel about this new helmet to be honest.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we've seen you guys have posted the rumor about what's supposed to be.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: We've posted the rumor of what's supposed to be.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I've seen a lot of mixed signals on this one, like a lot of mixed feelings and I don't know how to feel about it.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: honest.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_04]: No, I'm with you.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_04]: I'm with you.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_04]: Whenever I see like the brown and I know what's rumored, which talking about is like the brown helmet with either the white or orange face mask, I've seen it both ways.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: Um, not a big fan of it just because I think the brown helmet on top of the brown jersey is going to look kind of blah, especially if it's like mat now if they make it look like the bowling green helmets those are sweet.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_04]: I really like how bowling green has those brown right real shiny helmets and everything almost like metallic but
- 12:08[SPEAKER_04]: If the Browns were to throw out an orange jersey to go with it, I'd be a little more on board.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_04]: I've been a big, you know, orange jersey's back, but I don't think they're going to do that yet.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I wouldn't necessarily say never to that to be honest.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have a scoop or anything, but I'm just looking at how this regime has opera, not this regime has in the front office, but in ownership has done things.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: And it always seems like they've released the helmet first and then the next year that some kind of jersey, uh, release.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, let's go back to a couple years ago.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about the throwback jerseys with the, what is it?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: was in the nineteen forty five jerseys I believe they were nineteen forty six was not forty right the forty six jerseys and they were they had basically the same helmet but they put the numbers on it and when they released those I couldn't help but think right afterwards there is no way they're not going to announce a white helmet within the next year or two sure enough it was back
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you're right.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling that this could be the precursor to maybe an orange jersey next year or two years, but we'll have to wait and see at this point.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: I like you would love to see a return to the orange jersey, but I would like it if they went back to like the early two thousands and orange jerseys.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like those were good.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: The ones that people have been trying to do that were modern.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: And God forbid, please do not bring back the orange jerseys that we had like ten years ago.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: Please keep those at a time capsule and burn it because I nobody needs to see those jerseys ever again.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_04]: those.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_04]: Those were got awful.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_04]: Thank God we got rid of those and went back to our more traditional.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_04]: And look, but yes, so that'll be sometime today.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_04]: You guys will be seeing, you know, the release of the new helmets and we'll talk about that on the next episode of the podcast and everything.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_04]: So that'll be exciting.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_04]: I guess unless they turn out to be absolute garbage, which whatever, we'll just have fun clowning on it.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_04]: But
- 14:24[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about this quarterback battle heading into training camp because again, we're recording this on Tuesday the twenty second.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_04]: That's when all the veterans and everybody will have reported everybody except for Quenchon.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_04]: Judkins will have reported to Berea for training camp and then today on Wednesday the twenty third.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_04]: What four twenty five correct is the first practice.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, sir.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: You got it.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's do this.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_04]: So let's get training camp underway that the main headline all training camp tonight.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: I see people from time to time in the comments and all social media say, I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the quarterback stuff.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_04]: And yet those are the posts and the things and the videos that we put out that get the most traction.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_04]: So clearly people want to they want to talk about it.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_04]: They want to hear about it.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_04]: They want to know what's going on with this quarterback battle and
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: I kind of just want to get your perspective.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_04]: First of all, how do you feel like the current order is set for this court?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: We've got Mary K. Cabot still just this week saying she's sticking with her belief that Kenny Pickett has the edge to begin training camp as QB one.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's the most likely to start the season as QB one.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_04]: And honestly, there's a lot of speculation that QB one is between Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_04]: So I kind of want to get your perspective on that.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm just gonna say this.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's a part of me that feels like the whole Kenny Pickett narrative that we're seeing.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: And just as we were coming on to record this, I believe the Browns posted a picture of year four, Kenny Pickett loading.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: I have a weird feeling.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: Can he pick it's a red herring a little bit?
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what it is, but I feel like this is starting to get into the realm of early or in the off season with the number two overall pick when people were talking about, oh, it's for sure going to Travis Hunter.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's for sure going to Travis Hunter.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way they're going to trade it.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then an hour before everything happened, and the trade went down.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, unofficially it went down.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: unofficially like we heard the reports that this was happening for weeks, but it wasn't confirmed until probably the nine a couple minutes beforehand.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't weird feeling that Kenny Pickett and all of this might be a red herring sort of like what Josh Dobbs was a few years ago, or Travis or not Travis songs.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: I had Tyler Huntley was last year because in all honesty,
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how much there actually is for Joe, or not, or for Kenny Pake of this point.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's a lie he's got to prove.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: He's probably, he probably has more to prove than any of the other quarterbacks because it's year four and we still have no idea who he is.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we see as much as we love to talk about the low touchdown percentage, he still helped the stealers win football games as much as we hate to say that.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's not like we're sitting here talking about how he was the reason why the seal is finished under five hundred.

- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: He would have to have a Sam Darnold year and even with that, I don't even think Sam Darnold is going to be as great as he was and see either.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like Sam Darnold had that one and done year, like what Blake Bordle's had for one year or
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: this one's gonna suck to say kind of what a lot of people think Joe Flacco had here in Cleveland, but that one I'm gonna wait to see what happens first, but U.S.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: order before I have a feeling Flacco is gonna be number one just because they're already saying that he's part of not gonna take as many reps at number one just because they already know who he is.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: He knows the system
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like he's going to be that number one guy.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that's number one.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: Number two, I think it's going to be Dylan Gabriel to be completely honest with you.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people are overlooking Dylan in.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying that because I like the pick.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I did not like Gabriel on the draft process.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: It only took until like about a month ago before I started realizing
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he's actually a smart guy.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he's not bad.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we need to see how you adjust with the size as well as if you can go to the deep ball at the NFL level, but honestly, he wouldn't roll out to be honest at this point.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: And good.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: No good, keep going.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: And then number three should wear sanders like
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to sit here and say, I think that there's two routes with Shidorah.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: The first one being, I think they're going to try to develop them and see how it goes during the season.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: And then, ultimately, depending on where they're drafting next year, they could make the call to go with somebody else, because if we have a top five pick, they're not going to pass on a linoire cellars or a
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Clate, cake, guobnik, or drunosmire.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's later, I could see them, maybe, making a pass on somebody like a drew hour or somebody like that.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so the whole, the whole Gabriel thing.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_04]: So I saw a post.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was on X and I apologize.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_04]: I forget who posted it.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_04]: But the overall notion of the post was that really nobody in the pre draft process was very high on Dylan Gabriel.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: He wasn't one of the quarterbacks that anybody was ever talking about.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_04]: No one had him higher than really like maybe a fourth round pick at the same time.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody in the pre draft process had should or Sanders as a first round pick.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe early second round pick at the lowest, but
- 22:00[SPEAKER_04]: at least among respected analysts and you know, not just some trolls here and they're trying to be all he's not he's undraftable or or whatever.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_04]: Shoulder Sanders was by all accounts of first round talent.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_04]: Not to say that Dylan Gabriel can't defy the odds the way a guy like, you know, Brock Perty did and stuff like that, but I mean, nobody had Perty ranked high either, but Gabriel, he's also got this size working against him.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_04]: It historically does not work well in the NFL.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_04]: Now I've been on record saying doesn't mean it can't work.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_04]: No, but I've also now seen several beat reporters from many camp in OTAs that have all said the same thing that he is smaller than what they anticipated with him being listed at five eleven like two or five that they were kind of blown away in a bad way by how small he is.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_04]: I just
- 22:46[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_04]: I know the, it does feel like the Browns.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to say they have an agenda, but I can't think of a better way to award it that it is, we picked this guy third, you know, in the third round.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_04]: He was our guy and we're going to give him every opportunity to be the guy.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of how I feel a little bit there.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know, I'm contradicting myself with that, but at the same time, like, a lot of people that were saying this, and these are some of the people I do remember, we're kind of saying the same thing about Baker Mayfield and first a little bit.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we have the infamous clip of Tony Grossy, that guy, him suspended from his job.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: If you remember that.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not to say that, you know, I think Dylan Gabriel is going to be this next great quarterback.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he's going to become Brady.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: Let's make that point clear.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think Shidorah Sanders has better chance of being that Tom Brady.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: But probably the one thing that I think a lot of people are also just counting is that when you talk about how small, when you talk about it,
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly do think that Gabriel might actually be a better fit for the system that makes sense.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like, a lot of people were talking about how great and how he wasn't great at times and fair play.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't great.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: He was small.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin's fan ski's offense, though, doesn't really play that.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the long lines of, can you play smart with the football?
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: Think about the quarterbacks that we have had.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: He had a hell of a college career.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: He was in the NFL, like, head moments, but he was never like the guy anywhere.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: except for maybe a season of Houston, but even then they didn't really believe in them that much.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: But he played smart and knew when that's what we'll check down, knew that, you know, the best way to get down the field was to just take your time with it, rather than bomb, bomb, bomb.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like the Dillon Gabriel picked beyond us with you, like, it took a lot of thinking about this, but this is, in my opinion, just them trying to get back to the normalcy that this team had, because the Sean Watson, or if we, I don't know if that's a band word on the show at all.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, because I know people that will, what do we say, acts or,
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: I named redacted if I remember that was a chain was the departure from what Kevin Stephansky was used to.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we knew it was a quarterback coach for case kingdom and Minnesota.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: You go in the next year.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's your offensive coordinator for Kirk Cousins who fits that smart role and that smart role that still takes chances.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: But in all honesty, does no one to take the check down and knows when to be smart with it.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Baker Mayfield, he tried to get him to fit that mold.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_02]: Not that it didn't work, but
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: same time like there was a little bit of uneasiness and there were always rumors about what was really going on in there.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: Um, keen on again.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Do you probably the best example was Jacobi preset like Jacobi preset was
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: The type of quarterback that worked extremely well with the Kevin's defense.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: He had some had decent legs, new when to throw D. I did not do it.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: New when let's roll short and medium, but didn't always have to push the deep ball, but
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: It worked that and but it worked out and you know the team didn't make the playoffs that my opinion says less about Kevin Stephanski or Jacobie per set and says more about the guy that came in after him and then yeah, yeah, I mean you're right.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_04]: The history of Kevin Stephanski is winning games with non-athletic quarterbacks really does very I don't want yeah, I'll say very simple
- 27:19[SPEAKER_04]: structured quarterbacks that are very smart high processors and that's what has been going around that the you know decision is going to be made by who can process the best who can make the best decisions.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_04]: I do I do understand a lot of fears from fans that are saying well a lot of the clips from Dylan Gabriel have been like more check down and short passes.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_04]: And it goes does go back to I know Kevin wasn't running the offense so much last year's Ken Dorsey.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: but you went from a time period where the Sean Watson was taking throws down field.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, remember, I mean, he had some big plays with a Mario Cooper downfield and stuff.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_04]: Some nice throws.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_04]: And then it came in the last year.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think he, how many balls did he even throw that were past twenty yards?
- 27:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like one or two?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, everything was a check down.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_04]: It was checked down to the running back, checked down to the tight end.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_04]: It was, and that's why we weren't converting third downs.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_04]: We had low, you know, offensive outputs.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_04]: It was terrible to watch.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_04]: And I do fear that they're
- 28:11[SPEAKER_04]: There is more of an emphasis on this dinking dunk game.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't know how well it's going to work.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_04]: Especially if we were going to try to rely heavily on the run game.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_04]: Well, if Juddkins was a big part of that, we're going to big part of that plan.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, things are getting a little bit foiled already.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, right.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: And that's honestly a very good point to bring up.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the dinking dunk part of the problem also that I do feel I know this is a very underrated point.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: But not underrated, but a very overlook point.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Ken Dorsey's offense did not mesh with Kevin Stefansky's offense.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: And we always talk about, and everyone that talks about it knows this is exactly what one of the bigger issues was.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: And probably the reason why Kevin's probably going to get this year and then more than likely next year, like, I'm going to be honest with you, everyone's talking about how this is the last year of Kevin Stefansky.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, don't think it is because
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: Next year, if they get a high pick, they're going to let him pick his quarterback.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: We know this by now.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically been implied by every single beat reporter.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's been said.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: The only people that aren't saying it are the fans that have been saying that, you know, we shouldn't have hired Stephanski in the first place.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: We shouldn't.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: And we should have hired Josh McDaniel.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, how did that turn out?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: where we should have hired Robert Salah.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: How did that turn out?
- 29:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, but, you know, back to the point, like, you know, yeah.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling that, you know, this year, falling would have been the year if the quarterback class was actually decent.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_02]: The problem is, we look at this quarterback class and it was trash.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: So of course that's how we get stuck with it.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: There was nobody in free agency.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_02]: They weren't going to trade for somebody because
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: How often have we seen the quarterback trade work out very well?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: How did Aaron Rogers do with the jets?
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: How's Russell Wilson do one right now?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: How do I do?
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: Do I even need to bring up his name again?
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: I already did it once.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, even like, that's the problem.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you get your quarterback nowadays from the NFL draft.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's what's going to hit.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's why Kevin I think gets one more year because
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: You're not getting like there were no first round quarterbacks that were worth a damn this year.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Cam Ward was a bait.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was a huge fan of, but it was made no secret early on.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: That intensity tightens one of them.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: And Chador, we know what happened with him.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: He fell for some reason.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe it's going to set to be the free draft process, but we don't know.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: Again, you need to get an extra will be the guy that I feel like will fit to fancy system.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: But the only thing that's going to, that could derail that and this is something I think is a possibility.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's not as much as I think people want to, it's not as much as people are talking about.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: Only thing I would derail on is a zero to two wing season.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_04]: true, that would also guarantee you that top pick for your quarterback.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, one.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_04]: So you're talking, you've referred to a lot about Kevin Peking is quarterback and next year's draft, the quarterback next year and all this kind of stuff.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: So are you, are you no chance for Shidorah Sanders?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think Shidorah will get a chance, but
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: honest with you.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's less of a chance than people think.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what do you mean by chance?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: Do you mean like based on his talent or based on what the Browns are going to be willing to give him?
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to be more so based on what the Brown actually more of a combination of the two of them going to be honest just because realistically the way I'm looking at the quarterback room as we speak.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking can he pick it's going to be trade bait because we're already starting to see quarterbacks go down as well as the fact is I don't buy that the Saints are fully comfortable with Tyler shook at this point.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I think someone will make a I'm trying to make an offer for can he pick it.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a case of if the Browns actually do it or not.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just going to leave.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not going to include him in this.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm probably, as I say this, I will fully admit I'm probably going to be wrong now and we're starting week one and I'm going to be drinking a few.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be pounding too many too much beat too many beers at this point, but
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's just one thing.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: I do think that, like I said, Flacco is probably going to get most of the shots at the gig just because Kevin knows what he is and knows that he can fit the offense.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think Gabriel unless he loses out to Shouldower, which is possible, but I put it in unlikely at this point.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: like, just because they took them earlier than shouldor, then that's usually an indication.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think that realistically, shouldor is either going to be someone that's brought in later in the season, sort of like, and I don't, I'm not using this for the hype reasons, but
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna just say it, it would be like what we saw with a Patrick Mahomes, for example.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm not saying he's gonna be Patrick Mahomes.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: There's nobody that's gonna be like Patrick Mahomes, but if you remember, they drafted him, he sat out almost all this first season, maybe played one week and then they just won with him the next year.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: I could see that situation unless they get that, what I ain't get that,
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: early draft pick.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's just too good not to pass up like that golden ticket if you will.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the reason I'd push back a little bit on that those because, you know, the chiefs, example, the way they went about their quarterback position was they traded up in the first round to get Patrick Holmes to get their quarterback of the future.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: They knew that.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: They knew he was going to be a guy moving forward.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_04]: At least he was going to be the guy gifted that opportunity to be the guy.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: And it made sense for them.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: There was no doubt that the following season, that was the plan.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_04]: There is total doubt right now because even if the Browns were to roll with veterans, the entire season, and it was like Joe Black, oh, can you pick it?
- 34:46[SPEAKER_04]: And then we're just going to let Shoulddoor learn and then give him a couple starts the end of the season.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_04]: And then next year, we'll probably let him be the guy.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_04]: That's not the case with Shoulddoor Sanders because they
- 34:55[SPEAKER_04]: They didn't want him.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_04]: They they passed on him six times.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_04]: They were perfectly fine with some other team taking him and just got to the fifth round to a point where it's like, well, the value here.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_04]: We could take somebody else where we could take this highly talented quarterback and just see what happens.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_04]: So they rolled the dice there, but the investment is so minimal.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_04]: the interest obviously was super low and the two first round picks next year to allocate to the quarterback position.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: I just I feel like if Shador does not get ample opportunity during the season to showcase what he can do.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_04]: He's never going to get that at least not here.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: No, and that very well could also be the case as well.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: Let's be honest, if I and we weren't the only ones that did this, I and that did this.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, literally, you had to do one of the teams that did it, but you could also say the same thing about as we've brought up Brock Perty as well as Tom Brady.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: Again, there was no guarantee, and you're also talking about two different styles of course, actually technically three different styles of quarterback play right there.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I also am just curious, though, what the leash is actually going to be for the situation.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, realistically, we're talking about this right now.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: Back a bit of word.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know Jack about what's going on.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh, we know they could have just said, you know what?
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see how far it goes if kick the can because
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and from why I heard, I thought there was some, there was also a room going around that Philadelphia was actually about to take Shidorah if we didn't trade up for them.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I saw that too.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, mind you, they're not going to, they're not going to bench Jalen hurts for Shidorah unless Jalen just got too expensive, but it's Eagles.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: They don't do that.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're not, it's Eagles.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the bangles.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_04]: No, right.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_04]: The Eagles have the very same mindset with how they handle the cap and they're roster and everything personnel player personnel the way we do.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's right.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_04]: They're very similar in that regard.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_04]: The Bengals are not.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_04]: They are.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_04]: They have no idea basically how to handle the cap whenever you're putting the two side by side.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_04]: So it's a completely different.

- 39:08[SPEAKER_04]: There's a reality where the Browns host the Bengals week one and the Bengals do not have tray Hendrickson or Shamar Stewart on the defensive side of the boy.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_04]: It could be, I mean, if our defense can put a clamp down on the Bengals in Jover, which they start out the season, they always start out season slow, out the gate.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_04]: You ready?
- 39:28[SPEAKER_04]: I could be an interesting week one.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_04]: If we get, I mean, just depending on who's playing quarterback for us.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: Right, I mean, in a honesty, it's just, I mean, while we talk about a lot, I do think that, you know, as much as fans want to talk about how bad an owner Jimmy has him is, at least he's willing to pay.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_04]: He, like, drown out the cash.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: go show out the cash.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, show out the cash.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: You get rid of you with your worst case.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, bangles.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: And they literally hide and kept Marvin Lewis as a head coach for over a decade and have absolutely nothing to show for it.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: Don't even play off when with Marvin Lewis.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's that's for sure.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_04]: So going back then to the record of back stuff and I feel like whether it's warranted or not by the time we get through training camp preseason, we actually get to see these quarterbacks in game situations and that kind of stuff.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_04]: if if we've got somebody out there on the on the field that is not Shador Sanders and they're struggling I feel like the fan base is going to be in an uproar or at least the majority of the fan base because I think there's a very strong interest from Browns fans in Shador Sanders hey we got this guy who was everybody say it was the first round talent got him in the fifth round if he's just sitting on the bench and we've got Dylan Gabriel out there struggling or something right I don't know if I don't know if the patience is going to be low
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, right.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I actually remember a similar situation back in, one was it.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: It was the year that we had Josh McCown as quarterback.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: And if you remember, as we remember, it was the first year of those god awful jerseys that we were talking about and before.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember being at Drowns Raiders and just sitting in the stand, it was a close game.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: Josh was actually having decent game from what I remember.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: Every fan was disinterested though because of who was on the bench.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what I did.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, nobody, it was somebody big.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: It was the same guy that just, it's not the trash us for no reason last week.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_04]: That was that Johnny, the Johnny year.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: That was a Johnny year.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was a semi-close-ish game.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_02]: And nobody cared.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: They were too busy chanting, we want Johnny and booing Josh on every play because of that.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: And this was after I believe a win in Tennessee.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: So they were one and one.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: It gets to that point.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like unless Joe Flacco or Shidorah is out there, that you might see the same reaction.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I think there's going to be a storm to be weathered regardless.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: Unless you go on some miraculous winning streak like they did with PJ Walker last year.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: But not last year, sorry, two years ago.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_04]: which we had no business winning games with PJ Walker and DTR.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we definitely had things break our way a lot in twenty twenty three to the point where Joe Flackle was.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: And even things with when he was playing things broke our way.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_04]: The bears game.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_04]: We play a competent football team in that situation.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_04]: We lose because we gifted the fourteen of their seventeen points on turnovers.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_04]: If they had any bit of a competent offense,
- 42:53[SPEAKER_04]: We lost that game.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_04]: And even then it came down to a hell of a merry pass.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_04]: I remember everybody was crap in their pants like, oh my gosh don't catch this.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: And no, I mean, you know, shout to the Anthony Bell for making a play, but at the same time, I just remember we had that situation.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that was the, that was the theme of the season.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, if you had the, if you had the dozen Hopkins that we had last year, we'd win those games.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and that's honestly why, you know, I don't fully buy that, you know, Hopkins is even gonna be the kicker this year.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_04]: You know what we've talked about here a lot about quarterbacks and maybe we can, you know, maybe we'll touch on it some more as we go, but that's a great point to bring up.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_04]: We haven't talked enough, I think, about the kicker situation.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_04]: We brought it up a few times, but it's worth going into because of how critical getting those three points and really getting that extra point after a touchdown.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that is critical in a football game NFL because the average margin of victories like three and a half points or something like that.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_04]: Close games, one score games, kicks make all the difference.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's YPJ Walker was able to lead the Browns to a win over the Forty Niners because Jake Moody missed an easy field goal to end that game.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise, we lose that one.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: If I were anything too field goal though, and that whole game, so literally we were gifted twice.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: And this was someone that was used to playing that type.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're because he can't finish again.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: But it's crazy.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: But like it's important.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_02]: And you know last year, I think a lot of people saw exactly why Dustin Hopkins has bounced around from so many teams.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I love DeHop.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: He was great in his first year.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: However, I don't know if it was the injury shaking as confidence.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he was getting gunshot after the injury.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's just his history repeating.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_02]: They were points in the soft season that I thought that Andre Schmidt or however you pronounce it might actually be more of a competition kicker than people actually want to realize.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then I just remember reading a post somewhere about the fact that the bears have this kicking competition and it just reminded me immediately of what we saw in Los Angeles a couple years ago.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm who was it.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: I believe was Kyrim Fairburn is competing with Kyro Santos.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: So tell me that and both of them have kicked and Cleveland before or whether like Cleveland.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: Kyro's been in Chicago for a while.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_02]: Fairburn has kicked in other places other than Houston.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: I would not be shocked if Cleveland's looking at this and saying, you know,
- 45:44[SPEAKER_02]: That one of these guys is going to be our guy.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: We just have to wait because we have Dustin Hopkins who it's contracts and very easy to get rid of.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_04]: Is it because I, okay, I have to look it up real quick.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_04]: So I was thinking it was like they they paid them.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_04]: They extended them probably a little too soon.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah, well, they did this year where we're good to go on that.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: I thought you signed a two or three year deal, but from what I thought a lot, I thought the money was more upfront.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: I could be wrong on that one, but at the same time, it wasn't like, and what was a large one for a kicker?
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it was like impossible if that makes
- 46:24[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's definitely not impossible for a kicker.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's a large one.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_04]: So OTC over the cap is saying, right, if they were to cut him now, the dead cap would be to about two point one million dollars.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right, and which is still significantly less I believe than say when we cut Obole corank.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well,
- 46:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'd have to pull that up to see because we definitely have a lot of dead cap were paying out here.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: But the thing is, kicker as much as we don't want it as much as people will just look at it and say, oh, well, kicker can be anything.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: In this situation, I think last year and even the year before we really saw how important of a role this actually is.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'll honestly do.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: I do want K to work back here.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_04]: It's tough, man.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, all right.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_04]: So you're right, Hopkins in twenty three was like the best kicker in the NFL until he got hurt.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_04]: He was clutch.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was hundred percent from fifty plus only missed a couple of kicks.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_04]: I think the entire season is if the highest percentage of his career, all that kind of stuff, but you're right, his overall career has been that roller coach.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_04]: We talked about where I'll have a good season, bad season, mediocre season.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's kind of a mid level kicker.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_04]: overall because the highs and the lows balance out is pretty mid tier and we paid him as if an extended him as if that number one overall season was going to continue and that was the norm for him, which is kind of the think of the time looking back at the history because it's just not who he is.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_04]: And then last year we had an ultimate low like the worst kicker in the NFL.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm hoping it levels out at least somewhere in the middle, but it would be great to be on the upper half of that because we
- 48:17[SPEAKER_04]: We desperately need to make these kicks, especially with likely a rookie quarterback playing at most points during the season, a run game that now we're unsure if it's even going to work the way we had originally intended for it to work.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to need to be able to make our freaking kicks and get those points when we have them on the board.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: Right, and you know, I think something that is interesting still is, and some, this is a point that I don't think a lot of people realize.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: Ellison Smith did retire last week if I remember correctly, or he was placed under the retired, the reserve retired list.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: That does mean we have a spot open.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's not many kickers out there on the market that are very well known factors.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: I would keep an eye out though because with training camp, we know that they will try to make a trade for somebody because we saw a couple years ago when it was K you're working.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: And there was one other kick, right?
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: Thought that they brought in as well the time.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't, I was about to say Chase McLaughlin, but no Kate took his job on.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: There was a different kick that we brought in.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_02]: Neither one impressed.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that's one of the Dustin Hopkins trip because of the price of kickers nowadays.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be shocked that there was at least some monitoring.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what the other kicking situations are, but I have a weird feeling that there is a kicking situation that we have our eye on.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: And we're not the Baltimore Ravens, so it's not Justin Tucker.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and no, you make a good point about when they did trade for Hopkins because, you know, we said the entire free season where we're watching, first of all, K. York struggled, mightily as a rookie in, uh, twenty two.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_04]: And then we come into the preseason in twenty twenty three and we're going out there in these preseason games and he's missing kicks in the preseason games.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_04]: Like, God, we cannot roll with this kid.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_04]: If we have any serious, if we're serious about trying to win games this year, this isn't going to work.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_04]: And the Brown saw that, too, and they said, yep.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_04]: That's exactly how we feel.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_04]: They cut him.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_04]: They traded for dusk and hopkins and all that kind of stuff.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_04]: So I could see them doing something similar again because you're right.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: The dead cat money.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, while it's high for a kicker and it is actually more than Obobo was actually one point just a little million.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, which is crazy.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_04]: Um, but yeah, so let me just still in the grand scheme of things that's not a ton and they could move on from him if they choose to.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just a question of if there's somebody that they can get first.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're talking about all this, but Chicago Bears to say, you know what, we're going to keep two kickers because we have no idea what we're doing.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's Ryan toll.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's Ryan tolls or pace or whatever his name is.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really give it down.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's Paul's, but yeah.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think we don't know.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_02]: I need this so out of the depth and yet they extended the guy.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_02]: So who knows?
- 51:09[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you're right.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_04]: There are definitely kicker situations in competition and stuff to monitor as well.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's kind of where Dustin Hopkins became available because he lost his kicking battle out in L.A.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_04]: and became expendable.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_04]: So the Browns are able to trade for him.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_04]: Because obviously if the charges are like, now this is our kicker, they're not going to trade him because there's a team as well.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_04]: Good.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I was just saying, yeah, imagine a world where they kept Dustin Hopkins in like Cam and Dick.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: I would write.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: I would probably hurt somebody guess what that happened.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got to think are we just at a point where in Cleveland, we're not allowed to have nice things.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_04]: You know, we're we're not going to get we're not going to get a consistent kicker here.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_04]: The quarterback situation is always in flux.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's just it's wild.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_04]: This episode is sponsored by Southern New Hampshire University.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_04]: Browns fans, I can't tell you guys how many people I've known over the years who have missed out on job opportunities simply because they don't have the right degree or even have a degree at all.

- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: What do you think about like the wider receiver?
- 53:29[SPEAKER_04]: I guess we'll get hit a couple more topics here before we wrap it up, but the wider receiver room largely unproven.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, really from top to bottom, Jerry Judy has now had a top ten season in the NFL, but it's one out of five.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_04]: I consider that
- 53:46[SPEAKER_04]: You know, one off in the grand scheme of his career to this point.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_04]: I'm expecting it to continue.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm hoping for it to.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_04]: That's the anticipation, but to guarantee it or to say, I'm confident.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if I'm there yet.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_02]: Here's a thing.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think Judy could get there.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see what he does with these quarterbacks.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: So first, I mean, last year where you were talking about Jerry Judy with James Winston, I would consider Flacco and upgrade over Winston.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_02]: I can't pick it, not at all.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_02]: And these rookies are just giant question marks at this point.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_02]: So, right.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see at least another year before saying that I'm feeling confident that he's going to be good.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_02]: Sandra Tillman, I think has the potential to be good.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's just the health and I know that.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know a song with a bunny line on Twitter who keeps saying you can't really say health.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: I just said he missed the last four or five games with a concussion six.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I thought it was sex, but I couldn't remember.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then he also had the swell start because of an injury in his rookie year.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_02]: So while I don't hate the idea that he could be good or consistent, I'm not ready to see him and say he's a sure fire answer there.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: Behind them, Jamari thrash, we need to see him more on the field to get any kind of sense of anything.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: I personally like this look for your kid.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I want to see him get the opportunities, but at the same time, he was also an undrafted rookie, so that's a scratch off ticket right there.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I feel like I'm missing somebody in that wider seat for room, but.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_04]: Deonte Johnson.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: Johnson, he's got, I mean, that's right.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I forgot about Johnson because you don't want to see, there was no fanfare with him other than, oh, he's going to drop the ball there.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is somebody that needs to go out and prove himself at this point.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to see here and say that if you're covering with him like,
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: and then the rest of the other undrafted free agents like uh... gauge will vary of the artists whatever the hell is name is like larvodane larvodane larvodane larvodane larvodane larvodane larvodane larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvodane, larvod
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't want to high school around Ohio or grew or went to like the University of Ohio, Miami, Ohio can't stay.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: But at the end of the day,
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what the expect from these guys.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like coming out and saying, you know, hey, we got these guys.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: Let me introduce you to Rashorid Higgins.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_02]: Let me introduce you to Jordan Payton, Jordan Payton, you know, we call it.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, it's like, you know, the card up.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: What God, what a bust he was.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, Carter was the guy that was literally hanging out with Baker, me, Phil, no Delbe Beckham, Jr.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: And, and George's laundry for a practice.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: One of these things is not like the other, but like, no, like, you don't feel confident in that.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you'd like to step out, but at the end of the day, they're
- 57:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's the way to put it is, and I'm going to quote a line that Dennis Eckersley, former Hall of Fame kit, Etcher for the Red Sox and Oakland Athletics, said about the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_02]: of nothing that's right now.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, once you get past Judy and Tim extent Kilman, we have no idea what these guys have right now.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not like an division there right now.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: We see someone like the bangles have, Jamar Chase and Teahagans.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_02]: with the ravens having baitmen who just got an extension.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_02]: You have deandry, you have deandry hopians now there, you have zaf flowers, and then the stealers who have DK Metcap and Jonah Smith.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: What do we have?
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I loved having a joke, but these are some high-powered off-rances that have the potential to be good, except for the sneakers, because they have, literally, they have a skeletal recorder back.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: So realistically, this wide receiver room is clearly the weakest in the whole, in all division.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's a bit nerve-racking.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_04]: for sure, and it's definitely the worst in the division.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_04]: And if it's not the worst wide receiver room, at least with proven production on paper in the entire NFL, it's got to be bottom three.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_04]: I can't even say very many.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, maybe Tennessee is a little weaker just because they've got like one guy who's thirty years old and Calvin Ridley and the rest are rookies and unproven guys.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_04]: And at least we've got
- 59:07[SPEAKER_04]: Judy and tellman who we've seen do it at the NFL level, but I mean, there aren't very many receiver as I can think of worse than us.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, exactly.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: And realistically, it feels like, in that instance, it kind of reminds me, and this is probably going to scar some people would want them back to say, it reminds me of the Sashi Brown era Browns.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_02]: Put the white receiver.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_02]: You're not wrong.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, and, you know,
- 59:37[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing I will give is I think the running-back room is slightly better than that era because no fans, um, there's West and I Can't remember the other one's name.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_04]: Is that I say for a while?
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm dead to her.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I say for a while and Terence West Not quite the level of drone Ford alone unfortunately, which
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen Jerome have good runs and good years, but still not ideal.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, I do think that Dylan Sambs and could at least be better than Karen's West.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_04]: One would certainly hope so being the reigning SEC offensive player of the year and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, that means nothing nowadays, unfortunately.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_04]: Man, it's true.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_04]: All right, before I get you out of here, give me your just quick hitter prediction for the Browns this season.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if you had to give sort of a record prediction where you think we're going to land, is it going to be good, bad?
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_04]: How do you feel like the season's going to go?
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly think it's going to be rough to mid the be honest.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we have one of the hardest schedules this year.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: And while it doesn't mean anything because of any given someday, just looking on it, looking at it on paper, not knowing who the quarterback is, not positive.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_02]: What the wide receiver room is going to be probably relying on the tight ends and the running backs more than anything.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's a scary situation.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_02]: The defense is probably what's going to keep us in games.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, there's honestly a chance that if they're good, it's going to be more similar to a two thousand twenty three where the defense carried the team and they get a bunch of lucky breaks.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anyone is going to get fired to be honest because I think that they're going to at least give it a year to try to get the system in as well as the fact that Kevin does have at least two awards that while everyone says aren't real awards.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: It does need something when you look at some of the other people that have one it, including one guy that everybody wanted to fire Kevin for to keep as head coach.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's now what the knowing one Patriots.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_02]: I also just, I'm gonna be honest, I think as bad as it is, I also think that realistically we could end up with two top ten texts because
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: I gotta tell ya, I'm looking at the jag wars.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't trust them and I have a weird feeling.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_02]: They could actually be worse than us at times.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_04]: That would be interesting considering they've definitely got more talent than we do.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, count me.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_04]: That's an offense.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_04]: Now defense.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_04]: I would take our defense probably over there.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_04]: No, yeah.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_02]: But like that's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_02]: Like they literally destroyed that wide receiver room.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, they got Travis Hunter and he's this awesome player.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_02]: I have a weird feeling Travis is going to take at least a year to get going especially because he's going to try to do the dual thing and I pay way too much attention on social media.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think his wife is going to be a big down and take part of a possible downfall because literally the media is all over her for whatever reason.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_02]: I personally don't care.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: I would have accepted it if he was here.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_02]: I would have dealt with it because we literally have dealt with the Baker and Emily situation when he was at cheesecake factory.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_02]: We dealt with Odell Beckham Jr.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_02]: cheating on his girlfriend at the time on whatever and with whatever.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen the drama before, but at the end of the day, let's be completely real here as talented as he may be.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't trust Trevor Lawrence to be honest with you.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's showing that and he has shown me nothing to say he is an NFL level quarterback at this point.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a fair assessment.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_04]: I mean mid tier best.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_04]: I mean Trevor Lawrence is your as so far and it's been four four seasons now or whatever.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_04]: He's been through his rookie contract.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_04]: He's got his extension, but the production has been average NFL quarterback like take it leave it.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_04]: You could easily move on.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if he was not the number one overall picked out.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_04]: It is a generational prospect.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_04]: Best antenna.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_04]: Boba.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_04]: We hear it all.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_04]: He wouldn't be there.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_04]: He's not on these.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the thing.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's not even just a case of that.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to sound like a weird kind convert comparison here.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_02]: It reminds me of how people felt with Baker Mayfield after while here in Cleveland.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_02]: Jackson Jackson will gave him how many different targets.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like whether we're talking about Christian Kirk, if you remember the briefs then he had there.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_02]: He had Gabe Davis.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: Now he has Travis Hunter.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_02]: They would've built up the offensive line and he has done nothing with it.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, he had the one playoff game, big woop.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_02]: The reason that they won that playoff game was because of a box kick.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't like
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that strong defense that we had against the Steelers in twenty twenty where we literally put up six points out the offense stepping foot on the field.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah Jackson Jackson goes on nothing going on for them right now and I think a lot of it stems from the fact that you have a quarterback that's no bueno.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah or at least mid.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_04]: It's a, it's a good, a good first round pick to have next year.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but on a team to not really live up to some expectations or to really be all that great.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe bottom half of the league.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think Jacksonville.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_04]: Good pick to have definitely good.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_04]: Good for some picked on.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_02]: Before you let me go, let me ask you really quick, though.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_02]: So let's say that the brands do have a top five pit.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_02]: I can get two and two top ten picks.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say that Jacksonville is in the top ten.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like, let's say that they're third and let's say the Brown have the six pick.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they were bad, but not bad enough to be in the top five.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: Who want to, I know, is your early prediction for who you would want in those spots?
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_04]: To be honest with you, I have not really started looking at the draft class for twenty twenty six in any sort of depth.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, if we're that bad, we're probably going to need a quarterback.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_04]: And without having evaluated the quarterbacks, it's really hard for me to say, I know the names.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_04]: I know the players that people are hyped about.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm excited to watch college football this season for that specific reason to see how these guys develop and, you know, progress throughout the year.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_04]: I know club Nick from Clemson is a hot name.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_04]: I know a lot of local people.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_04]: especially like Drew Aller at Penn State, you know, Ohio guy and everything like that.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_04]: He's from what the Cleveland area.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_04]: I just when I watched Drew Aller, I haven't been overly impressed, but when I go and I just look at his role numbers and his statistics, they're impressive.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_04]: So there's there's definitely a disconnect from me between what he actually puts out and then what I see with my eyes when I watch the games.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe that changes this year.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_04]: Then you got a guy like Sellers.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just trying to figure out who, you know, which guy kind of fits in with the fanski?
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Nussmire from LSU?
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_04]: And then at the other pick, if that were the case, gosh, so much rides on what happens with like the one Jones at left tackle.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_04]: If he proves to be an adequate left tackle and a good starter, maybe we don't need to take a tackle that high in the draft and we can wait till the start around to get a guy.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_04]: I would take a receiver.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'd take the top receiver in the class if I could.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_04]: Whoever that guy.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's actually a scar away.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I do agree.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_02]: You go quarterback with one of them.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_02]: But again, if and like you said, with the one being depends a lot, it's going to ride on the Juan Jones if he's not good.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'd watch for the kid from Utah right now.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was a cut.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_02]: They were offensive line.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_02]: They have two studs.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_02]: I keep an eye on them.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_02]: Or, and this is probably going to I'd go back to the Ohio State.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, on defense.
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of people think that Caleb down.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I, I'm not in the house, Dave.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_02]: Spoiler, go ahead and go ahead and boom me, go ahead and shut me.
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I watch, I watch you con football as well as University of Miami, Florida.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_02]: So take from that way you will.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think Caleb downs and they found a way to snag in.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: Then you basically have the infinity gauntlet nearly complete for that defense.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's a very good point.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_04]: I forgot about Caleb Downs, but just silly, because I'm obviously in Ohio State guy.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_04]: I just, I am so hyper focused on how bad the offense is.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm all right.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_02]: I was bad.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_04]: I projected to be how bad it was last year historically bad.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_04]: It just, there's going to need some serious injection of talent in that.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_02]: Easily, but like we said, like I said, we've said the same thing back in twenty eighteen.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_02]: and somehow the shot pyramid somehow came out of nowhere and had a piece.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_02]: But realistically, I would expect like in no shorter, short order.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: The first three picks to be quarterback, wide receiver, safety, and just have it shuffled in some way, shape or form.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_02]: But it's way too early.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_02]: I was just curious and just want to add a little bit.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_04]: You know, training camps just kicking off, so there's no problem with talking about the future, but we are going to in future episodes here, coming up where we're dialing in, me and Justin are going to be up there for training camp on Saturday.
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_04]: It's supposed to rain the whole time.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll see how that goes.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_04]: I want to try to get a good evaluation with my own eyeballs of these quarterbacks, not if it's raining all day.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see all that goes.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_04]: Hopefully everything works out, but Eric, I really do appreciate you coming in here and then talking and we'll have to have you back on here at some point on the podcast and thanks again for breaking down the quarterbacks and just everything browns with us.

- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_02]: I try to stay away from politics, but it just gets impossible sometimes.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_04]: We live in a world.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's it's hard to avoid.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.

- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like he mentioned, go check out the Brown Sound USA podcast and let us know in the comments.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_04]: How do you guys feel about this quarterback competition as training camp kicks off this week?
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_04]: Are we moving somebody?
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_04]: You had Will Levis go down and he's going to be out for the entire season for the Titan.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_04]: So they're down a backup quarterback behind Cam Ward.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_04]: They could use a veteran behind him to just kind of solidify that position and help out.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_04]: Is that a potential trip partner for the Brown.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_04]: So let me know.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_04]: Let us know what you guys think in the comments.
