- 0:00Hello friends! Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. Last time, we heard
- 0:09how Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah when
- 0:11he really wanted to marry Rachel. Jacob eventually
- 0:15married Rachel as well, but with so many people
- 0:19in one family, things didn't always go smoothly.
- 0:24Today, We'll hear about how Jacob's family grew
- 0:28and the trouble that came when jealousy took
- 0:31over. Today's lesson is from Genesis 29 and 30.
- 0:36Are you ready? Let's begin! Jacob stayed in Haran
- 0:53with his new family. and over time, God blessed
- 0:57him with many children. But his home was not
- 1:00a peaceful one. Jacob loved Rachel more than
- 1:04Leah, which made Leah feel sad and left out.
- 1:10But God saw Leah's sorrow, and he gave her children
- 1:14first. Leah had a son named Reuben, then Simeon,
- 1:20then Levi, and Judah. Each time she hoped that
- 1:25Jacob would love her more, but he still cared
- 1:29more for Rachel. Rachel, however, had no children,
- 1:33and this made her very jealous of Leah. One day,
- 1:38she said to Jacob, Give me children, or I will
- 1:43die. But Jacob reminded her that only God could
- 1:48give children. Rachel watched as more sons were
- 1:52born into the family, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher,
- 1:57Issachar, and Zebulun. She must have wondered,
- 2:02Will God ever give me a child? Then one day,
- 2:07after many years of longing, God answered her
- 2:10prayers, and she had a son. She named him Joseph.
- 2:15and he would grow up to be a very important part
- 2:19of God's plan. She also said, May the Lord add
- 2:24to me another son. God answered this prayer and
- 2:29Rachel later had another son called Benjamin,
- 2:32but we will talk more about him another time.
- 2:41Wow! What a big family! But did you notice how
- 2:46jealousy caused a lot of problems? Even in the
- 2:50midst of these family challenges, God continued
- 2:53to work in Jacob's life. This story reminds us
- 2:57that his blessings are given in his own time
- 3:00and that every person is precious. Though the
- 3:04family sometimes struggled with jealousy and
- 3:07misunderstandings, God's promise remained true
- 3:11for Jacob's household. Let's think about a few
- 3:15things together. Have you ever felt left out
- 3:20or wished you were treated more fairly? What
- 3:26can you do when you feel jealous or hurt? How
- 3:32can we show kindness to others even when we're
- 3:35upset? we can trust God to take care of us and
- 3:46to work all things out for our good. God's love
- 3:50is greater than our mistakes and feelings. Thank
- 3:55you for joining me today as we learned about
- 3:57the challenges in Jacob's growing family. Next
- 4:01time, we'll see what happens when Jacob decides
- 4:04it's time to leave Haran, and how his next journey
- 4:08brings even more surprises and lessons from God.
- 4:12Until then, remember, you are wonderfully made.
- 4:16Bye for now.
