- 0:34Speaker 1: back to Hawk Talk to Live Preview edition. Season twenty
- 0:38Speaker 1: twenty one is here. Week one. Me and nass back together.
- 0:42Speaker 1: We gotta talk about these cults. Man, I'm excited. It
- 0:45Speaker 1: feels like it's been longer than whatever the off season is.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It just feels longer than that Nasa Choby. The off
- 0:51Speaker 1: season feels like, man, it feels like it's two years man.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I mean it feels like, honestly feels like three years
- 0:56Speaker 1: ago that we were talking about that last RAM game
- 0:59Speaker 1: and then the draft, and then you got rookie camp,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Mini camp, and you got mandatory mini camp. Then training
- 1:04Speaker 1: camp was here and it's weird. Training camp feels like
- 1:07Speaker 1: the dog days of summer, like it goes on forever.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Everything's the same at the same time. It went by
- 1:11Speaker 1: like that. And we're back out of baby week one.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Football that counts in the standings. Let's go. Let's go
- 1:17Speaker 1: football that accounts, and the Hawks are going on the road.
- 1:20Speaker 1: They're going to Indianapolis to take on these Colts. Colts
- 1:22Speaker 1: have a lot of questions to be answered, but apparently
- 1:25Speaker 1: we do too. You know, we've been looking through the media.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The Colts have their views on what we look like.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We have our views what they look like. Let's jump
- 1:32Speaker 1: into the roster. First of all, we got to talk
- 1:34Speaker 1: about because we know it's the most secure spot on
- 1:37Speaker 1: the roster is a quarterback position. Mister Russell Wilson leaves
- 1:40Speaker 1: the charge there, Geno Smith will back him up. And
- 1:43Speaker 1: then we got a local kid, local kid who's on
- 1:46Speaker 1: the roster right now, Jake Lutton. Am I saying his
- 1:48Speaker 1: name right, Jake Utton? That's Luton Luton. Okay, See, I
- 1:52Speaker 1: gotta get it out now so when we go on
- 1:54Speaker 1: there on Sundays, I don't jack this thing up. Russell
- 1:57Speaker 1: Wilson had himself a year last year. We know it
- 1:59Speaker 1: didn't end the way that we'd like it to, but
- 2:01Speaker 1: he had sixty eight percent completion rape, forty two hundred yards,
- 2:04Speaker 1: forty touchdowns, twelve interceptions. I think the only knock you
- 2:07Speaker 1: can say is that he started off hot and kind
- 2:09Speaker 1: of fizzled out. But that's just the NFL. You have
- 2:11Speaker 1: to figure some things out. There were some changes at
- 2:14Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator position, so hopefully that will help him out. Man,
- 2:18Speaker 1: we're deep at running back though, nas yes, we are
- 2:21Speaker 1: deep at running back. My goodness. Six running backs on
- 2:24Speaker 1: the roster currently. We got Chris Carson, Rashad Penny, Travis Homer,
- 2:28Speaker 1: DJ Dallas, Alex Collins, and Nick Bolore and really no
- 2:32Speaker 1: surprises in this position group. You know, some teams would
- 2:35Speaker 1: look at this and be like, you guys are really
- 2:37Speaker 1: keeping six running backs, And yeah, that's not completely accurate
- 2:40Speaker 1: in the sense of six because Nick Belore right now,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we'll get to a little bit later, is really kind
- 2:45Speaker 1: of filling in as a linebacker right now because of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the depth at that position. But you look at all
- 2:49Speaker 1: these guys in the rosters, I mean, you had to
- 2:50Speaker 1: keep all of him. Chris Carson, is one of the
- 2:52Speaker 1: best running backs in the NFL. When healthy, he's a
- 2:54Speaker 1: perennial one thousand yard rusher. Rashad Penny is a guy
- 2:58Speaker 1: that has unbelievable chel We're just waiting to see it.
- 3:01Speaker 1: If he can get through a season completely healthy, we
- 3:03Speaker 1: know what he can do there. Travis Homer is another
- 3:05Speaker 1: guy that came in as a rookie. Second year guy,
- 3:08Speaker 1: kind of got his feet wet a little bit last year.
- 3:10Speaker 1: We know it's really good in pass pro and pass protecting.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's kind of his strength. And then Dj Dallas Man,
- 3:14Speaker 1: he flashed in the preseason. He was one of the
- 3:17Speaker 1: bright spots even though our starters weren't playing. Alex Collins
- 3:20Speaker 1: is another guy who stepped in last year when Carson
- 3:22Speaker 1: and Penny were banged up. So it's a really deep room.
- 3:25Speaker 1: And the thing about running backs is you can never
- 3:27Speaker 1: have enough because it's such a physical position. Guys get
- 3:30Speaker 1: hurt a lot. So the Seahawks are really deep there.
- 3:33Speaker 1: You do need a stable there. And I want to
- 3:34Speaker 1: say man Dj Dallas won the preseason for me in
- 3:37Speaker 1: my opinion, he had the best preseason on this roster
- 3:40Speaker 1: at a couple carries, two big returns, got his hands
- 3:43Speaker 1: on a punt. I mean, he did everything he could
- 3:46Speaker 1: to not only make this team, but say like, look
- 3:48Speaker 1: I'm here, let me get the rock Lets go. So
- 3:51Speaker 1: now we're gonna move on to receivers, my favorite position.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We all know that Dk metcalf is coming back for
- 3:57Speaker 1: his third year bona fide superstar, Gatorade commercials, going to
- 4:01Speaker 1: All Star games, kicking it with the who's who. Like
- 4:04Speaker 1: DK's on another level right now, and then I expect
- 4:07Speaker 1: him to take his game to another level. I know
- 4:09Speaker 1: that's hard to say because he did set a franchise
- 4:12Speaker 1: record as far as yards for a season, but there's
- 4:15Speaker 1: still some things he can get better. App I'm looking
- 4:17Speaker 1: forward to that. Tyler Lockett, the most humble superstar of
- 4:21Speaker 1: all time on his football team. He comes back after
- 4:23Speaker 1: a thousand yards season. We got Freddie Swain who was
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the battle for that third position spot. D Escrit
- 4:29Speaker 1: is here as well. Now that Freddie Swayin and d
- 4:31Speaker 1: Escers battle was interesting to me because Freddie had an
- 4:34Speaker 1: opportunity and he took it. We saw him running with
- 4:36Speaker 1: the ones, we saw him returning punts, we saw him
- 4:38Speaker 1: returning kickoffs as well. Freddie Swain is on this roster
- 4:42Speaker 1: because he's reliable, he can get the job done. And
- 4:44Speaker 1: then Penny Hard, I'm glad this dude got picked up.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I know they tried to move into the practice squad early.
- 4:50Speaker 1: He was banged up during camp, had some days where
- 4:53Speaker 1: he couldn't go. But that last preseason game, he had
- 4:56Speaker 1: a couple of catches that reminded you why he is here.
- 4:59Speaker 1: So you have you look at this this receiving corps. Man,
- 5:02Speaker 1: you got the big old Megatron type dude, and you
- 5:04Speaker 1: got like three smaller fast dudes, and then Freddie Swain's
- 5:07Speaker 1: kind of the in between. You got a little bit
- 5:09Speaker 1: of everything when it comes to this receiving corps. That's
- 5:12Speaker 1: what I liked. Unfortunately, my guy John Ursua towards a clum.
- 5:18Speaker 1: We don't know if he was gonna make the team
- 5:20Speaker 1: or not, but when he did tears ACL, he was
- 5:22Speaker 1: having a good game. He was making a case to
- 5:24Speaker 1: at least be on practice squad. So that's gonna hurt.
- 5:26Speaker 1: But I look at this receiving corps and I'm okay
- 5:29Speaker 1: with you. Oh, without question, I think you got depth
- 5:31Speaker 1: at every position or at every position X Y inside outside,
- 5:34Speaker 1: and the other thing about it too. You mentioned ds
- 5:36Speaker 1: rich Child to Bump for those you remember, Bump called
- 5:39Speaker 1: that the seafs raft Dskridge And we didn't get to
- 5:42Speaker 1: see a ton of him training camp, but when we did,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you saw that speed. You saw that fly sweep action
- 5:47Speaker 1: that we see with the Rams. You saw him get
- 5:50Speaker 1: vertical and get in the slot and go up and
- 5:51Speaker 1: make a big cat show. I'm really excited to see
- 5:53Speaker 1: what we have there and if there's anything, God forbid,
- 5:55Speaker 1: any kind of injuries you had guys like Aaron Fuller
- 5:58Speaker 1: and Cody Thompson, you know, get to the practice scuds
- 6:01Speaker 1: because there's depth everywhere at the receiver position. So definitely
- 6:04Speaker 1: be in for another record setting year. I think in
- 6:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. Another position group that has some new
- 6:10Speaker 1: faces tight end. So Gerald Everett, Will Distiley and Tyler
- 6:15Speaker 1: Maybury are on the fifty three roster to start this week.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know Everett and Distilly, there was no surprise there.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You bringing Gerald of it from the Rams was in
- 6:23Speaker 1: Shane Waldron's offense last year. For the last couple of
- 6:26Speaker 1: years have been really successful in the league. We know
- 6:28Speaker 1: it Will Disiley can do when you're throwing the ball.
- 6:30Speaker 1: He comes down with it, incredibly physical and a good
- 6:33Speaker 1: run blocker. Tyler Maybury is the guy that was on
- 6:36Speaker 1: our practice squad all last year and was brought up
- 6:38Speaker 1: to fifty three because you guys are probably thinking about
- 6:41Speaker 1: aren't you forgetting somebody And that's Kobe Parkinson, who we
- 6:44Speaker 1: drafted last year, who man was tearing it up to
- 6:48Speaker 1: start training. This man. Every time I looked up, he
- 6:50Speaker 1: was catching ball, coming down with it, making plays in
- 6:52Speaker 1: the red zone, going up getting touchdowns. So it was
- 6:55Speaker 1: really disappointing to see him come down with a foot injury,
- 6:57Speaker 1: the same foot injury that he had last season. We
- 7:00Speaker 1: had a screw put in his foot. The good thing
- 7:02Speaker 1: was is that it wasn't something that's going to keep
- 7:05Speaker 1: him out a really long time. The Cityoks kind of
- 7:07Speaker 1: did with a lot of teams do when it comes
- 7:08Speaker 1: to roster construction, where you make a guy, put a
- 7:11Speaker 1: guy in the initial fifty three, because if you put
- 7:14Speaker 1: them on IR coming out of camp, that means he's
- 7:16Speaker 1: got to be on IR the whole year. If he
- 7:18Speaker 1: initially makes the fifty three, then when you put him
- 7:21Speaker 1: on IR after that point, you when we had to
- 7:22Speaker 1: sit out three weeks so Kobe Parkinson. I'm telling you
- 7:25Speaker 1: he's gonna make a ton of place for this position
- 7:27Speaker 1: group when he's given the chance. Tyler Mabey's gonna step
- 7:30Speaker 1: up for now, but Bump, I'm really excited about these
- 7:31Speaker 1: tight ends and how Shane Rawdon's gonna use them. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm extremely excited, especially Gerald Ever he comes over from
- 7:37Speaker 1: the Rams. Him and Shane have a relationship. Shane was
- 7:40Speaker 1: actually a tight ends coach to start, so he knows
- 7:43Speaker 1: how to use these guys. You look at the way
- 7:44Speaker 1: he's used the tight ends in the RAM system. They
- 7:47Speaker 1: just flourish and Gerald every can do everything inside outside,
- 7:49Speaker 1: blocking whatever you need. Uncle Will is there to hold
- 7:51Speaker 1: it down. And again Colby. When Colby is back, you
- 7:55Speaker 1: guys are gonna see what NASA's just talking about. This
- 7:57Speaker 1: dude especial. He can get the rock all right, let's
- 7:59Speaker 1: moved the offensive line. I just want to say thank
- 8:02Speaker 1: you to the football guys and everyone that made this possible.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Dwayne Brown is suited up, he's been practicing, He's ready
- 8:10Speaker 1: to go. No worries that left side is going to
- 8:12Speaker 1: be secure, but one of the best left tackles in
- 8:14Speaker 1: the game. Thank you, Dwayne Brown. And the Seahawks for
- 8:17Speaker 1: getting that done. Now. Other than Dwayne Brown, you have
- 8:19Speaker 1: Brandon Shell, Jamarco Jones's Stone Forsyth, Gabe Jackson, Damian Lewis,
- 8:24Speaker 1: eaton post at, Kyle Fuller, and Jake Krank. This is like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: this is my kind of preseason right now. I got
- 8:32Speaker 1: lean on Nass to get these pronounced pronounciations right and
- 8:35Speaker 1: all that stuff. But yeah, they're carrying nine lineman on
- 8:38Speaker 1: the active roster this year, and we know that you
- 8:40Speaker 1: have to be deep on old line. You just have
- 8:42Speaker 1: to be deep, especially when you have an older guy
- 8:45Speaker 1: and Dwayne Brown and left tackle. He's gonna have some
- 8:47Speaker 1: veteran days and take a week or two. All we
- 8:49Speaker 1: know that this preservation, he'll be good to go. You
- 8:52Speaker 1: got some young guys. You got Damian Lewis coming back
- 8:55Speaker 1: for a second year. I was really encouraged with what
- 8:57Speaker 1: he showed us last year. He played guard, he played
- 9:00Speaker 1: center for the first time in his career in the NFL.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I don't think you guys understand how difficult that is.
- 9:06Speaker 1: The center is the guy who's supposed to get everybody
- 9:09Speaker 1: lined up. Call out the box, identified the mic, communicated
- 9:12Speaker 1: with the quarterback, he did this for the first time
- 9:14Speaker 1: as a rookie. Kyle Fuller is a guy that a
- 9:17Speaker 1: lot of our colleagues really like. They thought he was
- 9:19Speaker 1: gonna push and compete for that center spot. He's making
- 9:21Speaker 1: noise as well. Forsythe was the draft pig looked like
- 9:25Speaker 1: a rookie in preseason, but you can see the potential there.
- 9:28Speaker 1: The guy is long, he's tall, has big reach. Now
- 9:32Speaker 1: he just has to perfect the craft. And no better
- 9:35Speaker 1: person to learn from then Dwayne Brown, no question about it.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And I think I think they're like you mentioned when
- 9:42Speaker 1: you started this was thank god we have Dwayne Brown back.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He's one of the best left tackles in the National
- 9:46Speaker 1: Football League bar nun And let me tell you something.
- 9:49Speaker 1: No one takes better care of their bodies than Dwayne Brown.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Dwayne Brown is a weight room warrior, number one and
- 9:56Speaker 1: just as the most when it comes to preserving his body.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And the other thing too about it we bring in
- 10:00Speaker 1: Gabe Jackson. There was a lot of talk about the
- 10:02Speaker 1: offensive line and what it was gonna look like in
- 10:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. All this strife about whether the quarterback
- 10:08Speaker 1: was happy, this and that a lot more was made
- 10:10Speaker 1: up of that than what it really was. But here's
- 10:12Speaker 1: the thing. You moved Damian Lewis over the left guard,
- 10:15Speaker 1: Gabe Jackson on the right side. I think you have
- 10:17Speaker 1: a good foundation in the middle. Kyle Fuller, he was healthy.
- 10:20Speaker 1: He was supposed to be a big battle between Kyle
- 10:22Speaker 1: Fuller and Ethan posted Kyle Fuller was healthy, Ethan was
- 10:25Speaker 1: not in training camp, so Kyle Fuller kind of stepped
- 10:27Speaker 1: into that starting role. What we saw him play against
- 10:29Speaker 1: the Rams last year, we know he's physical. So I'm
- 10:31Speaker 1: really excited about this unit and just the depth too,
- 10:34Speaker 1: because you know we have other guys. Jamarco Jones is
- 10:37Speaker 1: filled in and played well. You know, you have depth
- 10:41Speaker 1: of the center position, and on the practice squad Phil
- 10:43Speaker 1: Haynes and Jordan Simmons, who were initially on the team
- 10:45Speaker 1: last year. You sneak them back onto the practice squad,
- 10:47Speaker 1: so if anything happens, those are guys that you can
- 10:49Speaker 1: bring up whenever. So I'm really excited about where this
- 10:51Speaker 1: group can go, and I think it can be one
- 10:54Speaker 1: of the strength and build on what they did in
- 10:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty. And then moving on defensive line though bump
- 11:00Speaker 1: d line. You know, it's funny when we talk about
- 11:02Speaker 1: the defensive line. You know, for the last couple of years,
- 11:04Speaker 1: every year everyone's been like big question mark, big question markup.
- 11:08Speaker 1: They didn't get enough sacks. Is this unit good enough?
- 11:10Speaker 1: They're hurting them team, blah blah blah. We had a
- 11:12Speaker 1: rough defensive start last year. That's not the case this year. Boy,
- 11:15Speaker 1: this defensive line is stacked. I'll just read off. We
- 11:18Speaker 1: got ten this year starting off from fifty three. Carlos
- 11:21Speaker 1: Dunlap the second, Carrie Hyder Junior, Darryl Taylor, L J. Collier,
- 11:26Speaker 1: Rashime Green, Benson, Mayo, Alton Robinson, Poona Ford, Alwoods, and
- 11:30Speaker 1: Brian Money. And the great thing about that is every
- 11:33Speaker 1: single name I've said, with the exception of Darryl Taylor,
- 11:37Speaker 1: has played significant time in the National Football League, at
- 11:39Speaker 1: least in terms of starts. Alton Robinson was rookie last year.
- 11:42Speaker 1: He had four sacks contributed. Unafford's been doing it for
- 11:45Speaker 1: a couple of years. Al Woods is an og holding
- 11:47Speaker 1: it down in the middle. Brian Money has gotten his
- 11:49Speaker 1: feet way, Carlos Dunlap is a proven veteran, and this unit,
- 11:53Speaker 1: man Sky's the limit. I don't want to put the
- 11:56Speaker 1: expectation that some people have put on comparing them to
- 11:59Speaker 1: that two thousand and third defensive line with all that
- 12:02Speaker 1: NASCAR pack of stuff they ran. With that being said, though,
- 12:05Speaker 1: this is the deepest the defensive line has ever been
- 12:08Speaker 1: since that time, and I think they can do a
- 12:09Speaker 1: lot of good things this year. Yeah, I like this room.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Cholby Rashim Green, another guy who stole the show in
- 12:16Speaker 1: preseason for me, had two really good game. Started the
- 12:18Speaker 1: preseason off with two sacks and then had one in
- 12:21Speaker 1: the second game. This was a guy who needed to
- 12:24Speaker 1: show that he is progressing and his position. Coach. Coach
- 12:27Speaker 1: Hurd said, look, the light came on for this young man.
- 12:31Speaker 1: We can't forget he was twenty years old when he
- 12:33Speaker 1: was drafted. He was just a baby. Couldn't even go
- 12:35Speaker 1: to Joey's and have a cocktail, you know, I mean,
- 12:38Speaker 1: it was young. So now he's selling game, he's developing.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I think this is gonna be a big year for
- 12:42Speaker 1: this guy. One guy I'm anxious to see how he does.
- 12:44Speaker 1: As carry Hyder comes over from the forty nine ers
- 12:47Speaker 1: at eight and a half sacks. For those guys can
- 12:49Speaker 1: play inside and can play outside. If anyone is going
- 12:52Speaker 1: to learn from this guy. I think LJ. Collier can
- 12:54Speaker 1: learn from this guy because they're gonna use carry Hyder
- 12:56Speaker 1: and LJ. Conn of the same way, move them outside,
- 12:58Speaker 1: moving inside depending on the situation. And then I think
- 13:01Speaker 1: Dunlight leaves away. There's just so much depth at this position.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You got ten guys and they're gonna rotate in, keep
- 13:07Speaker 1: guys fresh. I'm excited. This unit have forty six sacks
- 13:11Speaker 1: last year. Let's see what they do this year. All right,
- 13:14Speaker 1: now we're going to the second level linebacker squad. We've
- 13:17Speaker 1: got Bobby Wagner, Jordan Brooks, Tody Barton, and I'm gonna
- 13:20Speaker 1: throw in Nick Bolore in there as well because we've
- 13:22Speaker 1: seen what he does at the linebacker spot. Now it
- 13:24Speaker 1: all starts with Bobby Wagner. Didn't see Bobby Wagner this preseason,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and now I am mad at him. I didn't need
- 13:29Speaker 1: to see Bobby Wagoner this preseason. You know what, You're
- 13:31Speaker 1: gonna get a phild general who's gonna line guys up,
- 13:34Speaker 1: make sure you're in a good position. He's gonna fill
- 13:36Speaker 1: the gaps. He's gonna be dependable, gonna have over one
- 13:38Speaker 1: hundred sacks. He's gonna be an All Pro mister consistent
- 13:41Speaker 1: the past eight to nine years. Bobby Wagner, you can
- 13:43Speaker 1: depend on him. It's all about the guys behind him. Now,
- 13:45Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, I've seen flash. There's no denying how athletic
- 13:49Speaker 1: this dude is. He might be the most he is
- 13:52Speaker 1: the most athletic linebacker. Now. Bobby has him in smarts
- 13:55Speaker 1: and wits and getting in position and all that. But
- 13:58Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks has a twitch that I just don't see
- 14:01Speaker 1: in these other linebackers. And this is gonna be a
- 14:03Speaker 1: big year for him. Cody Barton as well. Time for
- 14:06Speaker 1: him to shine. Third year. This is for this kid. Yep,
- 14:09Speaker 1: this third year out of Utah knows every position got
- 14:12Speaker 1: significant time during the preseason. Let me give a big
- 14:15Speaker 1: shout out to ben Burg Curvin, who was a linebacker
- 14:18Speaker 1: that we lost during preseason towards ACL on the very
- 14:21Speaker 1: first play of the third preseason game. That's why you
- 14:24Speaker 1: didn't see a lot of starters this preseason because you
- 14:27Speaker 1: never know when it if something can happen. But I
- 14:31Speaker 1: feel good about this linebacker corps. A little thin, Yetta
- 14:33Speaker 1: throw Nick Bolauren there, a little thin, but I feel
- 14:35Speaker 1: good about it. Oh, no question about it. Bobby Wagner
- 14:38Speaker 1: is a first ballot Hall of Famer, no question about it.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, like you mentioned, has flashed a lot, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: you know, I mean, he can do it all. He's quick,
- 14:45Speaker 1: he can cover guys, and when he goes, he goes
- 14:48Speaker 1: downhill right away. And that's a cool thing there. And
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'd be remiss if we didn't talk about Darryl Taylor
- 14:53Speaker 1: because Darrell Tayor is playing a lot of that Sam roll.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So Daryl's gonna be kind of a hybrid. He's gonna
- 14:59Speaker 1: he's gonna be playing Sam and then he's gonna be
- 15:01Speaker 1: rushing the pass room on passing downs. And we're really
- 15:04Speaker 1: excited to see what he can bring. You know. It
- 15:06Speaker 1: was great to finally see him get out there, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: the first two preseason games, who's right there, almost got
- 15:11Speaker 1: a sack, almost got a sack. It was great to
- 15:13Speaker 1: see in that third preseason game him finally get home
- 15:15Speaker 1: and finished plays off. So I'm really excited about this unit.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And before we finished out, my linebackers got to give
- 15:21Speaker 1: a shout out to our guy kJ Wright Kja. It
- 15:25Speaker 1: was a sad day at the vMac when we knew
- 15:27Speaker 1: officially you were not coming back to the Seahawks organization.
- 15:30Speaker 1: kJ Wright had ten amazing years in a Seahawks uniform.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Wish him nothing but the best of luck in Oakland.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm happy you don't got to play. Oh you got me.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I gotta put five dollars in the jar. I got
- 15:41Speaker 1: a put five dollars in the jar. But no shout
- 15:43Speaker 1: out to kJ right man, Kju, You're a great teammate.
- 15:46Speaker 1: You were great to everyone in this organization, me specifically,
- 15:49Speaker 1: so big shout out to kJ Wright, Sir corners, Bump corners.
- 15:54Speaker 1: We talked about this position more than arguably any other
- 15:57Speaker 1: position this year going into camp because of position battles.
- 16:00Speaker 1: You lose Shaquille Griffin in the offseason. Quintin Dunbar was here,
- 16:03Speaker 1: he was hurt most year. That didn't really work out
- 16:05Speaker 1: there last year. DJ Reid comes from the San Francisco
- 16:08Speaker 1: for nine ers about midway through the year. It makes
- 16:10Speaker 1: an immediate impact. Right then we got Trey Flowers, who's
- 16:13Speaker 1: been here for a couple of years, has been a
- 16:15Speaker 1: multiple year starter. So I'll go through the list of
- 16:18Speaker 1: corners that we have now starting this first week on
- 16:21Speaker 1: the active fifty three because there's a lot of things
- 16:22Speaker 1: that happen over this last week. So on Sunday or
- 16:25Speaker 1: at least shooting up going into the game, you'll have
- 16:27Speaker 1: Trey Flowers, DJ Reid, Sidney Jones, you guys will remember
- 16:31Speaker 1: from dub standout who's played in Philly, inn in Jacksonville.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Then you have John Reid who came over from the Texans,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and then Blissan Austin who was a six round pick
- 16:40Speaker 1: from the Jets in twenty nineteen and started a lot
- 16:42Speaker 1: of games over there. He came in after we made
- 16:45Speaker 1: the initial fifty three. Those are the guys that are
- 16:47Speaker 1: playing this week because Trey Brown, who we drafted this year,
- 16:51Speaker 1: one of our three draft picks, will begin the season
- 16:53Speaker 1: on ir because of a knee injury, the very similar
- 16:56Speaker 1: Colby Parkinson. It's not something that's going to be super
- 16:59Speaker 1: long term. They're going to bring Hi back when he's ready.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Don't want to rush the rookie, so he'll be out
- 17:03Speaker 1: for the first three games, so bump. The crazy thing here, man,
- 17:06Speaker 1: is when we started camp Man, we were talking about
- 17:09Speaker 1: a Kelly Witherspoon. A lot of people and myself included
- 17:12Speaker 1: thought what I saw at the beginning camp, like this
- 17:14Speaker 1: man's gonna start. This man has done was doing a
- 17:17Speaker 1: lot of good things in practice. But here's the deal, man,
- 17:19Speaker 1: if you're gonna trust anybody when it comes to defensive backs,
- 17:22Speaker 1: it's Pete, Carroll and John Snyder. They know what they're doing.
- 17:26Speaker 1: They have a PhD In that everyone else, man, you're
- 17:29Speaker 1: just out there. You just graduated high school essentially in
- 17:31Speaker 1: the equivalent. So everything that they decide is obviously is
- 17:35Speaker 1: the right call. But it's promising in a sense that
- 17:39Speaker 1: DJ Read and Trey followers came out and competing. Pete
- 17:41Speaker 1: said all along that he had one of the best
- 17:43Speaker 1: camps he's ever had, and I know Trey people get
- 17:46Speaker 1: down on tray a lot for you know, almost kind
- 17:49Speaker 1: of unfairly. He had a tough gaming its Green Bay
- 17:51Speaker 1: two years ago, and that kind of just stuck in
- 17:52Speaker 1: everyone's mind and no one kind of could forget it.
- 17:55Speaker 1: There's definitely a place he can make. Sometimes he commits
- 17:57Speaker 1: too many penalties. I mean, that's he knows that, but
- 17:59Speaker 1: he had a really strong camp. I'm really excited to
- 18:01Speaker 1: see him go out there and compete, and then I'm
- 18:03Speaker 1: excited to see what Sidney Jones can bring to this
- 18:05Speaker 1: because they went out and got Sidney Jones, so they
- 18:07Speaker 1: know what they're getting from him and what they've seen.
- 18:09Speaker 1: They got to see him start at the University of
- 18:11Speaker 1: Washington for a long time, so I'm really excited to
- 18:13Speaker 1: see how this group competes as we start this season off.
- 18:17Speaker 1: We did talk a lot about this group during the
- 18:19Speaker 1: off season, and there has been a lot of turnover,
- 18:22Speaker 1: a lot of movement in this group, and I'm just
- 18:24Speaker 1: happy for Tray to get another opportunity. I think there
- 18:26Speaker 1: are a couple of guys who are in a situation
- 18:29Speaker 1: to where they have to perform this year, and I
- 18:31Speaker 1: think Trey has done good decent over the last few years.
- 18:34Speaker 1: He hasn't been a Pro Bowl or anything like that,
- 18:36Speaker 1: but good corners are so hard to find. And Trey
- 18:39Speaker 1: Flowers walk through the gauntlet and defending everybody. Dunbar defending
- 18:44Speaker 1: him off, and Kella Weatherspoon defending him off. He's like,
- 18:46Speaker 1: whoever you bring Trey, you got hurt, don't worry, I'm
- 18:49Speaker 1: ready to go. Trey Flowers has been resilient and I
- 18:51Speaker 1: think that's going to help him as he continues to
- 18:54Speaker 1: grow as a corner. All Right, now, we got to
- 18:56Speaker 1: go to probably the most secure spot on the defense
- 18:59Speaker 1: right now. It's a safety position. We know who he got.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Jamal Adams said a franchise record or excuse me, NFL
- 19:05Speaker 1: record for sacks buy a dB last year with nine
- 19:09Speaker 1: and a half ten sacks. Quandre nine and a half.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Quandre had five interceptions last year left the football club.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Marki's Blair got injured Week two. He is healthy now,
- 19:19Speaker 1: making plays, scored a touchdown in the last preseason game
- 19:22Speaker 1: against the Charters. Uguamati has just been sitedly consistent, right,
- 19:26Speaker 1: not a guy who you've seen just blow somebody up,
- 19:29Speaker 1: making interception, scoop and score. But he's always around the football,
- 19:32Speaker 1: sitedly consistent. And then Ryan Neil. All he does is
- 19:36Speaker 1: make big plays. Had an interception this preseason. Last year
- 19:39Speaker 1: had a couple of interceptions. Started its first start against
- 19:41Speaker 1: the Cowboys, had an interception. All he does is make plays.
- 19:44Speaker 1: He ended the preseason with an oblique injury. I assume
- 19:47Speaker 1: he's going to be fired from that. Didn't seem like
- 19:49Speaker 1: anything too crazy. But out of all these guys, the
- 19:53Speaker 1: two I'm looking at our Blair in the Matti and
- 19:55Speaker 1: the reason why I'm looking at them is because that
- 19:57Speaker 1: nickel spot just hasn't been the same since Coleman last
- 20:00Speaker 1: the hawkses haven't had a guy who's gonna lock down
- 20:03Speaker 1: the interior receiver and just do his thing. There's a
- 20:06Speaker 1: huge opportunity for these guys who solidify themselves on this
- 20:09Speaker 1: football team at that nickel spot. And even if they
- 20:11Speaker 1: do end up sharing the time or splitting it, I
- 20:14Speaker 1: think it's all good because these guys are the future.
- 20:16Speaker 1: If Blair can stay around, you know, Quandre's gonna get older,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Jamal is gonna get older. Maybe his his his style
- 20:22Speaker 1: of play changes, who knows. But you always need guys
- 20:25Speaker 1: in the wings ready to go, and how do you
- 20:27Speaker 1: develop them. You get them playing time. Marky's Blair in
- 20:30Speaker 1: Ugo Almighty are gonna have opportunities to do that. I'm
- 20:33Speaker 1: excited about this group. I'm really secure about this group
- 20:37Speaker 1: simply because of Jamal. Yeah, those are It's easily, in
- 20:41Speaker 1: my opinion, the best safety Tanam in the National Football League.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Jamal Adams is stuff other strong safeties cannot do. Quandre
- 20:47Speaker 1: Diggs is a great center field player. He'll come down,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'll hit you. Those two are the best safety Cannam
- 20:52Speaker 1: in the league, and I think markis Blair is gonna
- 20:55Speaker 1: put the league on notice. You talked about him while
- 20:57Speaker 1: you're looking at him, you're excited about him. I think
- 21:00Speaker 1: he is going to force Ken Norton to have him
- 21:02Speaker 1: on the field, doesn't matter what situation, how it is.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I think his play where we're gonna see from him
- 21:08Speaker 1: this year is he's going to force everybody's hand and say, hey,
- 21:11Speaker 1: twenty seven needs to be on the field because he
- 21:12Speaker 1: makes too many plays. And I'm really excited to see
- 21:15Speaker 1: how he goes. And Ugumadi's right there too. He can
- 21:17Speaker 1: back up any position. Stepped in last year, did a
- 21:20Speaker 1: phenomenal job at that spot. So we were incredibly deep
- 21:22Speaker 1: there at the safety position. And a specialist man, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 1: we already know about them, man, Jason Meyers holding down
- 21:29Speaker 1: franchise record and consecutive kicks made. Michael Dixon, I mean,
- 21:34Speaker 1: there was nothing to say about him. His last pun
- 21:36Speaker 1: against the Chargers all you need to say about him,
- 21:38Speaker 1: seventy five yards in the air, puts the ball at
- 21:40Speaker 1: the one yard line down easily, Tyler. And he's got
- 21:44Speaker 1: a sleeve. Now sleeve tis got that sleeve tent. Let's
- 21:47Speaker 1: go oh yeah, No, Honestly, I think we got one
- 21:50Speaker 1: of the most assured specialist units as well as a
- 21:52Speaker 1: great special team unit underhead special team's coach Larry Izzo.
- 21:56Speaker 1: So not allowed to say about the specialist man because
- 21:59Speaker 1: we know what they do each and every week. So
- 22:01Speaker 1: bump this last thing on the roster construction. Nothing really
- 22:06Speaker 1: jumped out surprises, But what are your thoughts on the
- 22:08Speaker 1: overall all depth of this roster and what's the what's
- 22:11Speaker 1: the number one thing that jumps out to you? Man,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I look at this roster and I see a roster
- 22:15Speaker 1: that's good to go offensively. You got an old line
- 22:17Speaker 1: that's kind of been reconstructed. You're bringing in Gabe Jackson,
- 22:20Speaker 1: you move Damian Lewis to the other guard spotting, and
- 22:22Speaker 1: you signed Dwayne Brown called fuller wins the center spot.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I like the way the old line looks. In the backfield,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you have six running backs, all right, you got six
- 22:31Speaker 1: of them. You got the ground and Prown Bruiser, you
- 22:34Speaker 1: got the guy who's kind of shifty and can get
- 22:36Speaker 1: out the backfield, and DJ Dallas, you got the pass
- 22:39Speaker 1: protection guy. And Travis Homer Rashod Pinning was see what
- 22:41Speaker 1: he does. Alice Collins. I mean, there's so many ways
- 22:43Speaker 1: you can go there. Receiver wise, I don't even need
- 22:45Speaker 1: to say nothing. You know who's out there. You know
- 22:47Speaker 1: who we got a receiver gets to go defensively. I
- 22:49Speaker 1: look at the depth of that D line and I'm
- 22:51Speaker 1: encouraged because to calls turnovers, to disrupt things, your D
- 22:55Speaker 1: line has to be active and get after the quarterback.
- 22:58Speaker 1: You got guys who can do that. You can do
- 23:00Speaker 1: that secondary. We'll see what those corners look like. But
- 23:03Speaker 1: I feel good about DJ. I feel good about Trade Flowers.
- 23:05Speaker 1: If there was a question mark on defense, we'll see
- 23:07Speaker 1: what happens there. Overall, I feel good about this. Any surprises, No,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I think it happened exactly the way we thought it
- 23:14Speaker 1: was gonna happen. Guys were in position that we expected
- 23:17Speaker 1: to be there. The only guy that we're missing right now,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I feel like it's Kobe Parkinson's at that tight end spot.
- 23:21Speaker 1: He has a foot injury. But I look at this roster, nass,
- 23:24Speaker 1: no real surprises, except you know, there's one where this
- 23:27Speaker 1: spoon is gone. I thought where this spoon was gonna
- 23:29Speaker 1: be the starter at the corner spot for this football club.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Now gonna happen. Tred is another opportunity. I like the
- 23:35Speaker 1: death man. It's it's NFC Championship game or bus. That's why.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's how I feel about this roster. All Right, we've
- 23:41Speaker 1: heard about the roster construction, we've heard about the injuries.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Now it's finally time to shift our focus to who's next,
- 23:47Speaker 1: Who's next, Who's next, Who's next? The Indianapolis Colts. They
- 23:54Speaker 1: were eleven and five in second place finishers in the
- 23:57Speaker 1: AFC South in twenty twenty. They lost to the Buffalo
- 24:00Speaker 1: Bills in the wild card playoffs last year twenty four
- 24:02Speaker 1: to twenty seven. As you guys will remember, their starting
- 24:05Speaker 1: quarterback was Philip Rivers, who's not coaching high school football. Now.
- 24:10Speaker 1: The Colts, they had a great year, you know, reaches
- 24:12Speaker 1: in his third year. I believe now, and they've done
- 24:15Speaker 1: some really good things. Man. If you look at what
- 24:17Speaker 1: the years both teams had last year, the Seahawks were
- 24:20Speaker 1: twelve and four, Colts eleven and five. They're both high
- 24:23Speaker 1: ranking offenses. The Seahawks notoriously started really high last year,
- 24:27Speaker 1: came down. They finished seventeenth overall. The Colts finished ten.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Running the football, they're about neck and neck the Seahawks
- 24:32Speaker 1: finished twelfth that one hundred and twenty three yards per game.
- 24:35Speaker 1: The Colts were eleventh at one hundred and twenty four
- 24:37Speaker 1: yards per game. Pass offense, the Seahawks finish sixteenth at
- 24:40Speaker 1: two hundred and forty six yards per game and the
- 24:42Speaker 1: Colts had two hundred and fifty three yards per game.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And when it came to points, these teams were about
- 24:47Speaker 1: neck and neck. The Seahawks were eighth in the NFL
- 24:49Speaker 1: scoring twenty eight points a game and the Colts were
- 24:52Speaker 1: at ninth the NFL, scoring twenty eight points a game
- 24:54Speaker 1: as well. Seahawks twenty eight point seven, Colts twenty eight
- 24:56Speaker 1: point two. But here's the thing about this Colts team. Man,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I have a new quarterback which will get into a
- 25:01Speaker 1: lot in a little bit here. But they're Bolster bike
- 25:04Speaker 1: great online. Man. They're center Ryan Kelly AP second team
- 25:07Speaker 1: All Pro. They got a guard Quentin Nelson AP first
- 25:10Speaker 1: Team All Pro. So they have one of the best
- 25:13Speaker 1: old lines in the National Football League. And they're gonna
- 25:15Speaker 1: have a solid offense TBD on some of the weapons
- 25:18Speaker 1: they have because of injury and things like that. But
- 25:20Speaker 1: Bump is a pretty good football team if you just
- 25:22Speaker 1: look at the head to head comparison, you can make
- 25:26Speaker 1: an argument for the Colts to beat the Seattle Seahawks.
- 25:29Speaker 1: You just looked at all these numbers, their neck and
- 25:31Speaker 1: neck or the Colts lead, and a lot of categories.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But the differences I feel like is that we just
- 25:36Speaker 1: have Russell Wilson. They have Carson Wentz. At this point,
- 25:39Speaker 1: that's going to be the deciding factor. Now, they do
- 25:42Speaker 1: got some guys over there who can ball. Jonathan Taylor
- 25:44Speaker 1: eleven hundred and sixty nine yards last year. The kid
- 25:47Speaker 1: can move. If you go to us Seahawks dot com,
- 25:50Speaker 1: check out my film session I Broke them down. I
- 25:52Speaker 1: has great vision, has a great old line, and he's
- 25:55Speaker 1: patient with the ball in his hand. You expect these
- 25:58Speaker 1: guys to rely on him often and early. Now on
- 26:01Speaker 1: the Seahawks side, we got Chris Carson. We just haven't
- 26:03Speaker 1: seen a full season of Chris Carson. Last year, we
- 26:06Speaker 1: just didn't see him six hundred and eighty one yards.
- 26:08Speaker 1: If he can stay healthy, he's just as good, if
- 26:11Speaker 1: not better than Jonathan Taylor. He's gonna get his respect back.
- 26:14Speaker 1: People kind of are sleeping on Chris Carson because they
- 26:16Speaker 1: haven't seen him for a full year. He's gonna get
- 26:18Speaker 1: him back, all right. And also another to compare our
- 26:20Speaker 1: head head to head kind of sat locking locking a madcap.
- 26:24Speaker 1: They don't have anybody over there who can who can
- 26:27Speaker 1: offensively compare with them. Now you have Michael Pittman. You
- 26:31Speaker 1: got t Y Hilton. Pittman is a possession receiver. He's young.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Had five hundred yards last year. T Y Hilton had
- 26:36Speaker 1: I believe around six hundred yards last year. He's getting older,
- 26:39Speaker 1: he's getting up there. They don't have the same combo
- 26:41Speaker 1: that we have over here. So I expect the Seattle
- 26:44Speaker 1: Seahawks to outperform these dudes. But they are on the road.
- 26:47Speaker 1: It isn't early start. But Pete here has shown ten
- 26:50Speaker 1: am starts no longer face them. They are good to go.
- 26:55Speaker 1: All right, Next segment, No, your history, man, what's going
- 26:58Speaker 1: on between these two teams? Your history? All right? So
- 27:03Speaker 1: this all time matchup between the Seahawks and the Colts.
- 27:05Speaker 1: The Seahawks are five and seven against the Colts all time.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Last meeting, the Seahawks pound of the Colts forty six
- 27:11Speaker 1: to eighteen on Sunday Night Football back in twenty seventeen
- 27:14Speaker 1: at Loumin field. Now a couple of crazy things as
- 27:17Speaker 1: I was just looking through that game, man, which is
- 27:19Speaker 1: just so crazy how far this team has come from
- 27:21Speaker 1: the twenty seventeen season. Seahawks leading rusher of that tabump,
- 27:25Speaker 1: Eddie Lacy Eddie eleven carries for fifty two yards, two
- 27:31Speaker 1: defensive scores. Justin Coleman, who talked about earlier, had to
- 27:34Speaker 1: pick six. Bobby Wagner also picked up a fumble ran
- 27:36Speaker 1: it back for a touchdown. Our new friend Robert Turbin
- 27:39Speaker 1: who's joined us on the pre and post game show,
- 27:42Speaker 1: he had a touchdown for the Colts, so he was
- 27:45Speaker 1: on the receiving end of that beat down. We can
- 27:47Speaker 1: talk about that on Sunday and see him. And then
- 27:50Speaker 1: here's the other thing, man, My guy who was a
- 27:53Speaker 1: great locker room guy when he was here, JD me
- 27:56Speaker 1: Kissick scored this thirty yard touchdown. And I'll tell you
- 27:58Speaker 1: why in a second. This was so significant. Rush is
- 28:01Speaker 1: gonna hand him a kissing. He goes right time he
- 28:03Speaker 1: stepped the time of the tackle. Fuck touchdown, Shawks, are
- 28:09Speaker 1: you kidding me? Shut him? Shut him out? Man? Where
- 28:14Speaker 1: did he come from? He was in the backfield and
- 28:17Speaker 1: then all of a sudden he was in the insold
- 28:19Speaker 1: from dirty yards out. Goodness, gracious, the Teahawks on top
- 28:25Speaker 1: twenty four eighteen. Now, why was that run so significant? Bump?
- 28:31Speaker 1: That was the last touchdown that year that was scored
- 28:34Speaker 1: by a Seahawks running back. Okay, this Sunday night football
- 28:38Speaker 1: game was played in week four. Goodness, I remember that year. Yeah,
- 28:44Speaker 1: Russell all do everything type year man, Russell Dwarry. There
- 28:48Speaker 1: was a year he was gonna did they make the
- 28:49Speaker 1: playoffs that year? That was only year he did, not
- 28:52Speaker 1: only year we didn't. Ye, that was when you first
- 28:54Speaker 1: stopped on the PrePost and we had the little hiccup
- 28:56Speaker 1: against the Rams and then the loss at Jackson game
- 29:00Speaker 1: and we're right there at the end. Then we missed
- 29:02Speaker 1: the field goal against Arizona to end the season. But
- 29:06Speaker 1: I bring that up just to shed light on how
- 29:08Speaker 1: deep our running back room is. Now, how good Chris
- 29:11Speaker 1: Carson is, how good you know he's going to prove
- 29:13Speaker 1: to the rest of the league that he is at
- 29:15Speaker 1: one thousand yard rusher and he's gonna do amazing things.
- 29:17Speaker 1: He's in great shape. So have respect for your boy.
- 29:20Speaker 1: People need to put respect back on Chris Carson's name
- 29:23Speaker 1: and just a reminder where things have comes in twenty
- 29:26Speaker 1: and seventeen. With that being said, bump Man, we gotta
- 29:30Speaker 1: figure out what's what's the word? What's the word in
- 29:31Speaker 1: the West? And the Seahawks were the NFC West champs. Again,
- 29:40Speaker 1: what's the word in the West? On hot talk? What's
- 29:48Speaker 1: the word? I'll tell you what it is. Seahawks are
- 29:51Speaker 1: the defending NFC West champions, finishing twelve and four last year.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Ten and six were the Los Angeles Rams, aid Worth
- 30:00Speaker 1: the Cardinals six and ten worthy San Francisco forty nine
- 30:05Speaker 1: ers in it. It's a battle out West, Man. Nothing
- 30:07Speaker 1: comes easy out in the West. Now you add Matthew
- 30:09Speaker 1: Stafford to this division, you still got Kyler Murray with
- 30:15Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals. He gets a J. Greene San Francisco,
- 30:18Speaker 1: they drive Trey Lance. They get healthy on defense, they
- 30:21Speaker 1: get healthy on offense. Deebo, Samuel Randon, I youth. I mean,
- 30:25Speaker 1: it's a battle out here. You never know what's going
- 30:27Speaker 1: to happen. Now. Last year was the first time the
- 30:29Speaker 1: Seahawks won the NFCY West since twenty sixteen. And I
- 30:34Speaker 1: have to say, man, you know the rival Roberty has
- 30:37Speaker 1: been the forty nine ers, but it's shifting over to
- 30:39Speaker 1: the Rams. I mean you you beat the Rams in
- 30:41Speaker 1: the title game last year, and then the first round
- 30:43Speaker 1: you play them again and they beat you, and then
- 30:45Speaker 1: there's some trash talkers saying, look, you can have your
- 30:47Speaker 1: T shirts for going on to the next Ram. Sean
- 30:50Speaker 1: McVay has been the guru in the division for the
- 30:54Speaker 1: past four years, making the playoffs three out of four seasons.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Things can change, though. The sleeper in the West, the
- 31:01Speaker 1: sleeper in the West has to be the Arizona Cardinals. Man,
- 31:03Speaker 1: they haven't made the playoffs in five consecutive seasons. I
- 31:05Speaker 1: think Kingsbury is on a short leash now, but Kyla
- 31:08Speaker 1: Murray has a couple more weapons that he can use.
- 31:11Speaker 1: It can go anyway in the West. But I still
- 31:14Speaker 1: feel like the Seahawks are the favorites to win because
- 31:16Speaker 1: of consistency. He Carol's gonna be there, Snyder has been there, Locket, Russell, Bobby.
- 31:22Speaker 1: When you look at consistency in this division, you gotta
- 31:25Speaker 1: look at the Seattle Seahawks. Oh yeah, it's not even close.
- 31:27Speaker 1: When we talk about playoff appearances, ten wins seasons, the
- 31:31Speaker 1: lack of not having losing seasons for the Seahawks are
- 31:34Speaker 1: the only ones to not have a losing season in
- 31:36Speaker 1: the duration the Russell Wilson's been here. But as we know,
- 31:38Speaker 1: it's the toughest division in the National Football League. I
- 31:40Speaker 1: mean we say that each and every year. You look
- 31:42Speaker 1: at you mentioned the Rams. They got Matthew Stafford, who
- 31:45Speaker 1: that's who Sean McVay wanted. And it's gonna be a
- 31:47Speaker 1: really interesting year and almost a prove it type year,
- 31:50Speaker 1: which is weird to say for a coach who's already
- 31:52Speaker 1: gote to the super Bowl and made the playoffs three
- 31:54Speaker 1: out of four years, and for a guy like Matthew
- 31:55Speaker 1: Stafford has been in the league as long as he has.
- 31:57Speaker 1: But the reason I say that is because he's always
- 32:00Speaker 1: kind of had that. Well, he's in Detroit. He's really good,
- 32:03Speaker 1: but you only had Calvin Johnson. He's really good despite
- 32:07Speaker 1: bad coaching. He's really good despite all that's out man,
- 32:10Speaker 1: that's that's gone. Now you got Robert Woods, you got
- 32:12Speaker 1: Cooper Cup, you got you got who, you got Sean
- 32:15Speaker 1: mcvays your head coach. You got Aaron Donald on the
- 32:17Speaker 1: defensive side. So they're gonna have to do some things
- 32:19Speaker 1: this year, and it's gonna be hard because they lost
- 32:21Speaker 1: cam Akers. They got one of the best defenses in
- 32:24Speaker 1: the league. You lose cam Akers, you're bringing Sony Michelle,
- 32:28Speaker 1: you Stubb, Darryl Henderson, Deservance or did he go to LS.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I think he's still on the roster, but I think
- 32:32Speaker 1: he's banged up. He's banged up. You have your weapons,
- 32:36Speaker 1: you got you got Higbee at the tight end spot.
- 32:39Speaker 1: You got some weapons, So excuses are gone. Let's see
- 32:43Speaker 1: what Matthew Stafford does. I wish him well, just not
- 32:46Speaker 1: against the Seahawks. I always like to see athletes do
- 32:48Speaker 1: their thing, but I work for the Hawks. Man. I
- 32:51Speaker 1: live in Seattle. I live in the Northwest. I don't
- 32:53Speaker 1: want you to come up here and do anything. Okay,
- 32:55Speaker 1: that was nterc West. Now let's man up. Look at
- 32:58Speaker 1: some matchups. Is this miss this? Man up on Hawk talk?
- 33:10Speaker 1: Man up. We're gonna started right at the quarterback position.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You can't look much farther than Carson Wentz. When you're
- 33:17Speaker 1: talking about the Indianapolis Colts and we're looking at Carson
- 33:20Speaker 1: Wentz against the Seasks defense man. Carson Wentz is making
- 33:23Speaker 1: his Colts debut last year, for the Philadelphia Eagles in
- 33:27Speaker 1: twenty twenty. He was twenty five excuse me, two hundred
- 33:30Speaker 1: and fifty one for four and thirty seven two thousand,
- 33:32Speaker 1: six hundred and twenty yards sixteen touchdowns in fifteen interceptions.
- 33:36Speaker 1: This man was benched for the first time in his
- 33:38Speaker 1: sixty eight game NFL career for Jalen Hurtz. Michael Bambas
- 33:41Speaker 1: called that early in that season it wasn't on Carson Wentz.
- 33:46Speaker 1: O line was had a lot of injuries and they struggled.
- 33:49Speaker 1: They missed seven off hintive starters, five defensive starters. You know,
- 33:52Speaker 1: ten other key players missed time for them. With that
- 33:55Speaker 1: being said, it was easily the worst season miss career
- 33:58Speaker 1: in bump Man. I was doing some research and looking
- 34:01Speaker 1: into how things ended there in Philly, Man and I
- 34:03Speaker 1: was reading some stuff from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Man, and
- 34:07Speaker 1: people in Philly are just brutal, I mean brutal, killing him,
- 34:12Speaker 1: saying he quit on the team, he was done the
- 34:14Speaker 1: second he got bench, he wasn't a good teammate, he's selfish,
- 34:18Speaker 1: he took all the money because he got paid in
- 34:20Speaker 1: twenty twenty, and all kinds of stuff. They said his
- 34:23Speaker 1: pocket presence was bad, his accurate was bad. You know,
- 34:25Speaker 1: twenty seventeen was so long ago. He never got over
- 34:29Speaker 1: the getting hurt and Nick Foles leading him to a
- 34:32Speaker 1: super Bowl, and I was just like, my goodness, this
- 34:34Speaker 1: man was an m v peat candidate for you until
- 34:37Speaker 1: he got hurt. It's so crazy how this league is.
- 34:40Speaker 1: You can go from being at the top of the
- 34:41Speaker 1: game and everyone telling you how good you are to
- 34:43Speaker 1: one moment those same people saying you're the worst thing
- 34:46Speaker 1: that's ever happened to him. So Carson Wentz, he gets
- 34:49Speaker 1: a fresh start in Indianapolis. He was hurt coming in
- 34:52Speaker 1: training camp. He was a full participant today in practice,
- 34:55Speaker 1: so he will be a full go against the Seahawks.
- 34:57Speaker 1: And Bump man, what do you think? What do you
- 34:59Speaker 1: think about Carson Wentz. He's getting a new fresh start
- 35:01Speaker 1: with a coach he had success with him. Yeah, man,
- 35:03Speaker 1: he was Pro Bowler MVP candidate last time these two
- 35:08Speaker 1: hooked up. So you would think he's in his comfort zone.
- 35:11Speaker 1: He's out of Philly, one of the most ruthless fan
- 35:13Speaker 1: bases in all of football. He's out of there. He's
- 35:16Speaker 1: in Indianapolis' is a lot more welcoming in Indianapolis. You're
- 35:20Speaker 1: playing doors, you don't have to worry about the weather.
- 35:23Speaker 1: You're not gonna have one of your receivers t y
- 35:25Speaker 1: to start the season. He's banged up, but you have
- 35:27Speaker 1: an offensive line that's gonna protect you, and you have
- 35:30Speaker 1: a running game that's gonna get you going. And like
- 35:32Speaker 1: I said, you link back up with a coach that
- 35:34Speaker 1: last time you're with him, you had some of your
- 35:35Speaker 1: greatest years. So things look good for Carson Wentz. If
- 35:38Speaker 1: he doesn't get it done here, then I think he's
- 35:42Speaker 1: just a glorified number two quarterback who's looking for a
- 35:44Speaker 1: spot every single year. But you know again, I'm a
- 35:48Speaker 1: former athlete. I wish him well, just not Week one. Yeah, okay, wins.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I was one of the guys in his corner life.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I think this is gonna be a bounce back year
- 35:55Speaker 1: for him because there's no denying the talent this dude has.
- 35:58Speaker 1: It's there. Sometimes in a situation it's just not to
- 36:01Speaker 1: get fit anymore. You move on, you can flourish elsewhere.
- 36:05Speaker 1: All right, We'll see what he does this year. Another
- 36:07Speaker 1: matchup Seahawks dbs versus the Colts wide receivers now we
- 36:12Speaker 1: know that DJ and Trey Flowers are gonna hold it
- 36:15Speaker 1: down on the outside. I'm looking forward to seeing that
- 36:17Speaker 1: DJ has sixty two tackles, two interceptions and seven passes
- 36:21Speaker 1: defended last year. Now, Trey Flowers up and down, smiles
- 36:25Speaker 1: and frowns. Call it what you want, but there were
- 36:27Speaker 1: times where he was consistent in playing well. He started
- 36:29Speaker 1: seven games in twenty twenty forty seven tackles, two passes defended,
- 36:33Speaker 1: one force fumble, one tackle for loss. Now, this is
- 36:37Speaker 1: a good week for these guys to get their start.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Why is it a good week? Because the Colts are
- 36:41Speaker 1: low banged up at the receiver position. Ty is not
- 36:43Speaker 1: gonna be there. But Zach Pascal Am I saying that
- 36:46Speaker 1: right now? In fact, I heard pronunciation guy, But I
- 36:50Speaker 1: think that's right. I think it's Pascal all right now,
- 36:52Speaker 1: Michael Pittman are gonna be there, guys. Now, Pascal had
- 36:54Speaker 1: forty four reception six twenty nine yards and five touchdowns.
- 36:58Speaker 1: He's gonna be their number one guy this year, at
- 37:00Speaker 1: least until t Why gets back. Pittman Junior had forty receptions,
- 37:03Speaker 1: five hundred three yards in one touchdown. Pittman is a
- 37:05Speaker 1: possession receiver, big boy, He'll go across the middle, He'll
- 37:08Speaker 1: makings happen for you. It's just not the same without Tyhill.
- 37:12Speaker 1: So if there is a week that I feel confident
- 37:14Speaker 1: on the perimeter on the outside with these dbs, it
- 37:17Speaker 1: has to be this week just because of what they're
- 37:19Speaker 1: going up against. Yeah, no question about it. I think
- 37:22Speaker 1: we're gonna see some dogs at the receiver position as
- 37:24Speaker 1: this season goes on, and I think this is a
- 37:26Speaker 1: great way. And this is not throwing shade at the
- 37:28Speaker 1: receiving corps for Indianapolis. It's just this is a good
- 37:31Speaker 1: ease into the season to try to build some confidence
- 37:34Speaker 1: and make things happen. Another matchup on to look at
- 37:38Speaker 1: the og OJ Dwayne Brown against Quitty pay Now listen.
- 37:43Speaker 1: We've talked about Dwayne throughout the podcast today. Dwayne Brown
- 37:46Speaker 1: one of the best, if not the best, left tackle
- 37:48Speaker 1: in the National Football League. He's been well rested, but
- 37:51Speaker 1: he's been here the entire time. Call it a hold in,
- 37:54Speaker 1: whatever you want to call it. He's been here every
- 37:56Speaker 1: single day. He's been keeping his body in great shape.
- 37:58Speaker 1: He's been in every single meeting, he's tended every single walkthrough.
- 38:01Speaker 1: He's back at practice. Now, Dwayne Brown is ready to go,
- 38:04Speaker 1: ready to protect that blind side of Russell Wilson. So
- 38:07Speaker 1: we know that about Dwayne. But I'm listening to a
- 38:10Speaker 1: lot of chatter coming at Indianapolis. They really liked this
- 38:12Speaker 1: quitty pay dude man. He was dominant coming out of
- 38:14Speaker 1: University of Michigan. Ninety seven tackles, twenty three TFLs, eleven
- 38:18Speaker 1: and a half sacks in his career there, only played
- 38:20Speaker 1: in four games as a senior, didn't really play much
- 38:23Speaker 1: as a freshman, so he didn't have a full career there,
- 38:25Speaker 1: But what people saw it was a lot of potential.
- 38:27Speaker 1: People have gave him a lot of praise throughout the preseason,
- 38:30Speaker 1: got in a sack in each game he's played in.
- 38:32Speaker 1: So the thing that I'm looking here is, you know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: the rookie guy that was a first round pick for them,
- 38:36Speaker 1: someone that they put a lot of capital in that
- 38:38Speaker 1: hoping can play. Right now, Well, guess what, young man,
- 38:41Speaker 1: You're going up against one of the best to ever
- 38:43Speaker 1: do it, who's been doing it since you were probably
- 38:45Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, playing little league at this level,
- 38:49Speaker 1: So it'll be it'll be a fun match up to
- 38:50Speaker 1: watch Dwayne Brown and quite pay get it on. Yeah,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I'm excited to see that quitty. I love that name too.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I just when we broadcast on Sunday, I'm not going
- 38:59Speaker 1: to say his name at least three four times. Kay.
- 39:01Speaker 1: I like that name, solid name. Big up to your
- 39:03Speaker 1: mom and dad. All right, next matchup, we got DK Metcalf,
- 39:07Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett versus Kitty Moore and Xavier Rhoads Now. Like
- 39:11Speaker 1: I mentioned before, Medcalf and Lockett one the two, if
- 39:14Speaker 1: not the best duo wide receiver tandems in the NFL. Now,
- 39:18Speaker 1: last year they both had over a thousand yards. That's
- 39:21Speaker 1: the second time en franchise history that has happened. Brian
- 39:24Speaker 1: Blaize Enjoy Galloway did it in nineteen ninety five. Also
- 39:27Speaker 1: became the first set of receivers to post eighty plus
- 39:29Speaker 1: receptions each in a season in club history. That's special, man,
- 39:34Speaker 1: And they duel without ego. If anyone has a bigger
- 39:37Speaker 1: personality is DK. But I think because DCA has the
- 39:39Speaker 1: big personality and Lockett is kind of low key, it
- 39:42Speaker 1: just works, all right. They also both had ten touchdowns
- 39:46Speaker 1: last year. All Right, that doesn't happen often, folks. Enjoy
- 39:48Speaker 1: that just like you gotta enjoy Bobby and Russell and
- 39:51Speaker 1: everybody else. You gotta take in this moment and enjoy
- 39:54Speaker 1: what we're seeing out of Tyler Lockett in DK Metcalf.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Now the guys are going up against more Rows. Nice
- 40:01Speaker 1: little challenge you got coming up. More has sixty eight tackles,
- 40:04Speaker 1: twelve passes defended, four interceptions in two sacks in twenty
- 40:07Speaker 1: twenty roads thirty five tackles told passes defended two interceptions
- 40:11Speaker 1: last year. Now, Rose struggled at times last year, but
- 40:13Speaker 1: there's no denying the talent that he has. And then again,
- 40:17Speaker 1: I like this matchup because it's not This isn't kind
- 40:20Speaker 1: of an ease and too it this is okay, you
- 40:22Speaker 1: guys are one of the best duels in the league.
- 40:24Speaker 1: We're gonna put you up against some guys who can
- 40:26Speaker 1: play this game and who can play it well. I
- 40:28Speaker 1: look for Locking in DK to establish themselves early a
- 40:32Speaker 1: couple of big plays, But I think we're all interested
- 40:36Speaker 1: to see how they really are incorporated in this new
- 40:38Speaker 1: offense with all those crossing routes, those sitting in space route.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Is this going to change their game? Is this going
- 40:43Speaker 1: too effective? Numbers? I don't care if it does, as
- 40:46Speaker 1: long as they are producing and winning football games. Without question,
- 40:50Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how More does because More plays
- 40:52Speaker 1: a lot in the slot, but he'll bounce around and
- 40:54Speaker 1: as we know in this offense, DK and Tyler, they're
- 40:56Speaker 1: gonna move all around until it's gonna be fun matchup
- 40:59Speaker 1: to start Week one. I think we know we're gonna
- 41:01Speaker 1: give the edge to lock it in Metcalf just because
- 41:03Speaker 1: they're different kind of dudes. But it'll be fun matchup
- 41:06Speaker 1: to watch there. And the last one I want to
- 41:07Speaker 1: look at, man the forced buckner Darius Leonard versus erbody, erbody,
- 41:13Speaker 1: erbody on the offensive side of the ball. And the
- 41:15Speaker 1: reason I say that, man is these dudes can flat
- 41:17Speaker 1: out play. I mean, you need to know where the
- 41:19Speaker 1: arm on every single play. And of course he would
- 41:21Speaker 1: with a mic linebacker and things like that, but just
- 41:24Speaker 1: Leonard has had an unreal starter's career man despite missing
- 41:27Speaker 1: two games last year, he had one hundred and thirty
- 41:28Speaker 1: two tackles, seven TFLs, three sacks, seven passes defended, three
- 41:33Speaker 1: forced bumbles, two fumble recoveries, finished eighth in the NFL
- 41:36Speaker 1: and tackles. With missing two games three years He's had
- 41:39Speaker 1: four hundred and sixteen tackles, been an All Pro every year. Man,
- 41:41Speaker 1: he is the truth. He's a really fun linebacker to watch.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And then the forced Buckler man, he's been doing it
- 41:47Speaker 1: for a while. He's been a force in the middle
- 41:49Speaker 1: for the Colts. At his defensive tackle position. He had
- 41:52Speaker 1: fifty eight tackles, nine and a half sacks, three passes defended.
- 41:55Speaker 1: You know, I mean, this guy when it comes to
- 41:57Speaker 1: defensive tackles is at the top of the league pretty
- 42:00Speaker 1: much every category. He was a first team All Pro
- 42:02Speaker 1: in twenty twenty. Those two make this defense go. So
- 42:05Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see how, you know, Kyle Fuller,
- 42:09Speaker 1: Gabe Jackson, Damian Lewis, how they kind of negotiate that,
- 42:12Speaker 1: you know, making sure they're right on all their calls,
- 42:14Speaker 1: and how they kind of defend those guys, because those
- 42:16Speaker 1: guys are what make these guys go. And if we're
- 42:18Speaker 1: gonna run the football and established run, we're gonna need
- 42:20Speaker 1: it from Kyle Fuller. They're gonna set the tone on
- 42:22Speaker 1: these guys and it'll be a fun matchup to watch
- 42:24Speaker 1: Buckner nine and a half sacks on the d tackle
- 42:28Speaker 1: spot that is impressive. All right for you guys who
- 42:31Speaker 1: don't understand. He has taken on double teams danger every
- 42:34Speaker 1: snap and for him to get nine and a half sacks,
- 42:37Speaker 1: that is impressive. All Right, we've gone through all the
- 42:40Speaker 1: matches we're looking for. How are these Hawks gonna win
- 42:43Speaker 1: the game. Here's your path to victory? After forty five
- 42:48Speaker 1: waits for the staff, Michael Vickson puts it down. That
- 42:51Speaker 1: kick is away. If that kick is gone, it's gun.
- 42:56Speaker 1: It's a pass to victory. On Hawk Talk, how's the
- 43:01Speaker 1: victory before we talk about that? Man, it's gonna be
- 43:02Speaker 1: so good to hear Raves calling the games again. It
- 43:04Speaker 1: just gets me excited when I hear Steve Rabel, I
- 43:06Speaker 1: know it's getting real. Okay, here's their path to victory.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Start fast. The Seahawks are nineteen and seven since twenty thirteen.
- 43:13Speaker 1: During ten am starts. When I was with the Hawks
- 43:16Speaker 1: and nast Man, we go to East Coast, We're like,
- 43:18Speaker 1: here we go. Here was an l I think we
- 43:20Speaker 1: lost to the Giants. I mean we lost to the
- 43:23Speaker 1: I want to say the Bucks. I mean we fly
- 43:25Speaker 1: across in Mississippi. It was a rap. These guys have
- 43:28Speaker 1: figured out a way to not let that hinder their performance,
- 43:31Speaker 1: no question about it. Start fast. I love that, and
- 43:33Speaker 1: take advantage of what you got going on offense, man,
- 43:36Speaker 1: new offensive coordinator. You know, there's film out there from
- 43:39Speaker 1: the preseason. There's some film from what the Rams did
- 43:41Speaker 1: last year, but no one has really seen what this
- 43:43Speaker 1: offense is. No one has seen it, you know, at
- 43:46Speaker 1: any level of football. It's really funny the first game.
- 43:49Speaker 1: You know, you do all this work, you go all
- 43:51Speaker 1: through camp, and you do once you start putting all
- 43:53Speaker 1: the game plan stuff. Man, you prep into that first series.
- 43:56Speaker 1: In that first series, you get out there and they
- 43:58Speaker 1: come out in something completely different that you have not
- 44:01Speaker 1: seen or practice against. And then you're like, oh, snap,
- 44:03Speaker 1: pre we go. We just gotta play football. So take
- 44:05Speaker 1: advantage of it. I think Shane Waldron's kind of show
- 44:07Speaker 1: off what this offense has been working on since he
- 44:09Speaker 1: got here. So take advantage of that and take it
- 44:11Speaker 1: to him offensively. Take advantage and take the ball away.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Carson will turn that ball over if you get pressure
- 44:19Speaker 1: on him, you hit him a couple of times from
- 44:21Speaker 1: QB hits, you make him rush from things, he will
- 44:23Speaker 1: turn the full ball over. And that's how you win games.
- 44:26Speaker 1: If you win the turnover battle. Most of the times
- 44:28Speaker 1: you win that football game. And this is gonna be
- 44:30Speaker 1: huge for this defensive line. You're going up again. It's
- 44:33Speaker 1: one of the best old lines in the league. Only
- 44:34Speaker 1: allowed like twenty sacks last year. All right, d line,
- 44:37Speaker 1: establish yourself, get to Carson Wins, make him make horrible decisions.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Take the ball away, go get it. And while we're
