Medicare Part D Subsidy Ends This Year | Huntsville News
Medicare Part D drug plan premiums are about to change big time — the government’s $10 billion subsidy designed to keep costs from skyrocketing is ending this year. Since 2025, this program helped cap increases and kept monthly costs down, but now insurers can set their own prices for 2027. Without the subsidy, premiums could’ve nearly doubled in 2025. Starting in 2027, the base premium jumps to $41.33 — up from $38.99 — with annual increases capped at 6% through 2029.
