- 0:17Speaker 1: Return to Glory podcast October twenty third, uns Abreky Austin
- 0:22Speaker 1: Rose to Coda Free Tag. Have State Week in a
- 0:25Speaker 1: little bit better mood than a couple of days ago.
- 0:30Speaker 1: But we might just be back where we were last Saturday,
- 0:32Speaker 1: depending how the game goes.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Are you not back where you were on Monday night?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Outside in the rain?
- 0:42Speaker 3: You chose a spooky background.
- 0:45Speaker 4: It's not a background. I'm in a haunted house right now.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Oh do you guys believe in haunted houses? Let's listen.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Do you believe in ghosts?
- 0:53Speaker 5: No? Yeah, no, definitely yes, very scared.
- 1:02Speaker 1: So that's what happens at twelve thirty am at the bar,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and Dak is not coherent.
- 1:07Speaker 4: He's just like seeing ghosts everywhere. Arnold, Ohio State Week.
- 1:18Speaker 1: The one game that I don't think anybody thought we
- 1:20Speaker 1: had a chance to win going into the year.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Definitely, everyone thinks the same thing coming out of the year.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Correct where we're at now? I don't think we're there?
- 1:30Speaker 1: But what fun is it to be a fan and
- 1:35Speaker 1: have zero hope to win a game?
- 1:40Speaker 3: It's not. That's why we pretend every year we're gonna
- 1:42Speaker 3: win the championship.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So we're going to pretend or sell ourselves today on
- 1:49Speaker 1: how we are going to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The one thing that I saw while I was studying
- 1:58Speaker 1: for the podcast, uh is we have a three point
- 2:03Speaker 1: five chance of winning. And I don't know, I don't
- 2:06Speaker 1: think it was a FPI, but it was some metric.
- 2:09Speaker 4: So it's out there. You're saying, there's a chance.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Out out there. Yeah, you're right, there is a chance
- 2:17Speaker 3: at least this game. We're gonna go. If we get
- 2:19Speaker 3: blown out this game, you're you kind of expect it.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The Indiana game hurt just because he thought we had
- 2:25Speaker 3: a chance, a real chance. We're projected to lose by
- 2:28Speaker 3: like twenty five points. So Indiana, we were projected to
- 2:33Speaker 3: lose by six seven.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Ohio State's got to be the only team last couple
- 2:40Speaker 2: of years of the games you've been going into with
- 2:43Speaker 2: zero hope.
- 2:43Speaker 5: I don't know, babe.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Did you got the vineo last year against Michigan going
- 2:47Speaker 2: into that one?
- 2:49Speaker 5: No? No, okay?
- 2:51Speaker 2: And then that Michigan game and then the High State won.
- 2:54Speaker 2: But what what has been the combined score of hose
- 3:00Speaker 2: they Nebraska since they joined the Big Ten?
- 3:02Speaker 5: Anyone? No?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Do you?
- 3:04Speaker 5: I have no idea it was like, you.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Guys did I'm like he really did his research for
- 3:11Speaker 1: the pot I thought he had the stat ready to go.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Nope, no idea, give me second. I'll keep talking, but
- 3:16Speaker 5: give me a second.
- 3:18Speaker 4: You will. This will be impressive if you can come
- 3:21Speaker 4: up with this soon. Let's see. Let's think of the
- 3:25Speaker 4: games we can remember.
- 3:27Speaker 3: We won one twenty seven, twenty three, right.
- 3:29Speaker 4: The Rexburg head game. I think it was thirty four
- 3:32Speaker 4: to twenty seven, that's my THO.
- 3:34Speaker 5: And they came back. They were down by a lot
- 3:36Speaker 5: in yeah, first half.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Right, big comeback game there.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I know we lost at their place, like early, like
- 3:44Speaker 1: while we were in high school. Maybe twenty eleven, twenty twelve,
- 3:47Speaker 1: like sixty two to thirty six or something like that.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Right here, I got it right here, Ok hereteen fifty five. Well,
- 3:55Speaker 3: I don't have our exact numbers, so we're gonna have
- 3:57Speaker 3: to do the math in your head.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Well, it's a big ten. I would niel since the
- 4:00Speaker 4: big ten.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Which would have been twenty eleven, correct his name.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We don't do the I don't really care about the
- 4:06Speaker 1: exact numbers.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I don't know the scores of every.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Game, all right, So twenty eleven first game against them
- 4:11Speaker 3: in the Big Ten at Memorial Stadium, we won thirty
- 4:15Speaker 3: four to twenty seven. The next year at Ohio we
- 4:18Speaker 3: lost thirty eight sixty three. In twenty sixteen, you remember
- 4:24Speaker 3: the twenty sixteen game. I remember the twenty sixteen game.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Was that game day?
- 4:28Speaker 3: We lost sixty two to three.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Yep, wasn't quite game day yet.
- 4:32Speaker 5: No, that was later on.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Twenty seventeen at Memorial Stadium we lost fourteen to fifty six.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Twenty eighteen we lost thirty six to thirty one, so
- 4:45Speaker 3: pretty close. Twenty nineteen we lost seven to forty eight.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Twenty twenty we lost seventeen to fifty two, and in
- 4:56Speaker 3: twenty twenty one we had the close game where we
- 4:57Speaker 3: lost seventeen twenty six.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Some reason, I don't remember that one. I the one
- 5:04Speaker 1: that just think remember eighteen one. Dak remembers the game
- 5:08Speaker 1: Day one. I remember the game, the COVID game, because
- 5:16Speaker 1: it was the first game of the year and we
- 5:19Speaker 1: went down and ran a option that first drive like
- 5:25Speaker 1: the old sculptriple option all the way down the field
- 5:27Speaker 1: scored when I'm seven to nothing, and then I think
- 5:30Speaker 1: that touch down they might have scored quick and then
- 5:32Speaker 1: we scored again and we're up fourteen seven and then
- 5:35Speaker 1: we didn't score like the rest of the game. But
- 5:37Speaker 1: I remember that like how excited it was because it
- 5:39Speaker 1: was football's back.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Events are back and then yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So yeah, So out of our eight times we've played,
- 5:45Speaker 3: they have scored forty eight or more points on two, three, four,
- 5:51Speaker 3: five times, so we can hold Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Good, And when we talk about the closer, I think
- 6:03Speaker 5: you guys are the winning.
- 6:06Speaker 3: If it makes you feel better. Before we joined the
- 6:08Speaker 3: Big Ten, we lost to them seven to thirty four
- 6:11Speaker 3: in nineteen fifty six and twenty eight to twenty in
- 6:14Speaker 3: nineteen fifty five.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Well there you go. So we still haven't been good
- 6:19Speaker 4: against them.
- 6:22Speaker 1: What I want to do here to start and then
- 6:25Speaker 1: we'll get him to our highow State preview. I just
- 6:28Speaker 1: want to give us the idea, and yes we're going
- 6:31Speaker 1: to try to do it. It's not we can be
- 6:32Speaker 1: funny with it, but like, what do we have to
- 6:36Speaker 1: do specifically in this game? How does the game have
- 6:39Speaker 1: to go for us to pull the upset that nobody
- 6:44Speaker 1: ever would be expecting, which we've never done. It feels
- 6:47Speaker 1: like ever in our lifetime, Dak the honor is yours
- 6:52Speaker 1: to kick us off because I am intrigued to hear
- 6:54Speaker 1: all of your different things.
- 6:57Speaker 2: All right, so pregame is what you do? Fire sacker
- 7:01Speaker 2: going in the state. Actually, before you leave, you fire
- 7:03Speaker 2: him right away. We'll get into that later. I think
- 7:05Speaker 2: you fire him. You should have fired him to day
- 7:08Speaker 2: for many reasons. But if you listen to press conference,
- 7:12Speaker 2: he should have been fired.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Like that's okay, let's let's do this now and then
- 7:17Speaker 1: you can keep going.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, let's just get maybe put him in jail
- 7:20Speaker 2: for that. That's the worst thing ever her Mont, Okay,
- 7:23Speaker 2: we can get into it.
- 7:24Speaker 3: No, no, yeah, let's do it right now.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Go ahead, Yeah, you tell, you tell, you tell the
- 7:30Speaker 4: people what they want to hear.
- 7:32Speaker 2: After you put up the shitties offense performance you've had,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'd say that was the worst one you've had. Even
- 7:42Speaker 2: last year you had every every offensive game is better
- 7:45Speaker 2: than that one. And he comes out and says, yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 2: we want to average four yards of play.
- 7:51Speaker 5: And what do you say about the Big ten?
- 7:55Speaker 2: Oh, he now wants to figure out or once the
- 7:58Speaker 2: team to play like a Big ten offense.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Did you just figure out they joined the Big ten?
- 8:03Speaker 4: Like?
- 8:03Speaker 5: What's he been trying to do.
- 8:07Speaker 4: So four things. Was the quote the line four to six.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yards which puts you at the bottom of the college
- 8:13Speaker 2: football if you average that four.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Yes, still still.
- 8:21Speaker 4: So I'm gonna do this.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna defend him a little bit because I do
- 8:25Speaker 1: think it's funny. And he got slammed by barstool. He's
- 8:31Speaker 1: getting slammed by dak. I guess I will say this.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I would have had no idea how to answer that
- 8:37Speaker 1: question either. But I'm also not the offensive coordinator of
- 8:42Speaker 1: a Big Ten football team and that's not my job.
- 8:45Speaker 4: But I would have never guessed.
- 8:48Speaker 1: That the spread between the worst and the best is
- 8:52Speaker 1: this marginal, Like the best teams are in the sevens, right,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and the worst teams are like four would be the
- 9:01Speaker 1: worst in the Big Ten. And he guesses what Ohio
- 9:04Speaker 1: State averages.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Five? Just guess?
- 9:14Speaker 4: So guess what?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, if you want to look at the fore end, yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: it's a bad comment. But he did say six, which
- 9:21Speaker 1: is the high end.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Uh.
- 9:23Speaker 1: He basically just covered the whole range when he made
- 9:26Speaker 1: the comment, So I guess if you want to read
- 9:29Speaker 1: into it. He also responded to it, though, like he
- 9:33Speaker 1: really didn't know or didn't care. He just kind of
- 9:35Speaker 1: said better than what it is now, which I mean
- 9:38Speaker 1: it's air.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Uh.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Here's the thing with Sadderfield, he's not in a lead
- 9:46Speaker 1: offensive coordinator.
- 9:48Speaker 4: We've all known that our offense.
- 9:52Speaker 1: There's a whole other discussion here in a little bit
- 9:55Speaker 1: on what's going on with them and what the idea is.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think Rule has a lot of control over him,
- 10:03Speaker 1: which I think is good. I think that was the
- 10:04Speaker 1: opposite of how it was with Whipple and Frost. I
- 10:07Speaker 1: think Whipple kind of did his own thing. Well, Frost
- 10:09Speaker 1: did his own thing, and Whipple kind of his own thing.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I just think I think Rule has the ability and
- 10:16Speaker 1: the power I guess over him. But Saturfield did come
- 10:20Speaker 1: out and say, yeah, we would have run a big
- 10:21Speaker 1: ten offense and it's my fault took the blame. I
- 10:23Speaker 1: mean it kind of sounded like, again, Rule's kid or
- 10:25Speaker 1: rules subordinate, which it is what it is. I think, yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 1: he's probably up there if you're going to say, let's
- 10:32Speaker 1: make some coaching changes at the end of the year,
- 10:34Speaker 1: or if Dak says, as we're walking out of the tunnel,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I say, now, he'd right be up there towards the top,
- 10:42Speaker 1: if you know, maybe behind d fully, but I will
- 10:45Speaker 1: defend him a little bit.
- 10:46Speaker 4: I think got pulled out of proportion.
- 10:47Speaker 1: It is funny to think about, like when he's made
- 10:50Speaker 1: the comment that's my pig on all.
- 10:53Speaker 3: It's not great to hear, and it's like, yeah, what
- 10:55Speaker 3: do you think your yards per play should be? And
- 10:57Speaker 3: it's like, I don't know. I mean you think you
- 10:59Speaker 3: should at least have some canned answer of like, yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 3: we you know, we don't operate under a yards per play.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It's really depending on the matchup or something other than that.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I don't know, like that's that's not after a game
- 11:13Speaker 3: that you look like that, you can't say that you
- 11:17Speaker 3: have to at least sound competent. It wasn't. It wasn't
- 11:22Speaker 3: a great look. I don't agree with you, Hunter, It's
- 11:24Speaker 3: not as bad as it was realistic. I agree. It's
- 11:27Speaker 3: probably just like a yeah, whatever, you're gonna keep grilling me,
- 11:32Speaker 3: like here's an answer. I don't really care. But also,
- 11:37Speaker 3: when everyone wants your head, don't make it easy to
- 11:40Speaker 3: be like this guy doesn't have any freaking clue what
- 11:42Speaker 3: he's doing. When everyone's already questioning that.
- 11:46Speaker 5: I guess, I guess I'll defend him a little bit.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Here.
- 11:49Speaker 2: If you do, if you have every player that goes
- 11:52Speaker 2: four yards, you're spore touchdown every drive.
- 11:56Speaker 4: So so maybe look, you Dak coming around.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Maybe just out smart us, I mean.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Coaching.
- 12:05Speaker 5: But he can the press conference.
- 12:07Speaker 3: One eighty yard play and twenty or nineteen zero yard plays.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I mean we can if we go back last year.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure since when I was saying Jeff sim
- 12:20Speaker 2: sucks the same podcast, I was saying Mark Sadfield sucks,
- 12:23Speaker 2: and he I hadn't done anything that. I don't know
- 12:26Speaker 2: why they brought him back your offensive offul last year.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You can play in the quarterback position.
- 12:31Speaker 3: But that got two things right in his entire career.
- 12:34Speaker 3: On this podcasting, boy is he hanging his head?
- 12:36Speaker 5: And then right up the jump.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 4: The first episode so on the topic of firing coaches
- 12:43Speaker 4: because I didn't want to discuss this as well, because
- 12:46Speaker 4: that's the talk this week amongst a lot of people.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That and the quote unquote identity word. So most people
- 12:55Speaker 1: are in consensus do nothing now, which I don't think
- 12:58Speaker 1: you should either. End of the year talk people are
- 13:01Speaker 1: saying there might be changes. It brings in the conversation
- 13:05Speaker 1: in college football, well in any sport really of the
- 13:09Speaker 1: process versus bringing in someone that can get stuff going
- 13:14Speaker 1: right away. And I feel like Nebraska fans have hardly
- 13:20Speaker 1: leaned on the process for the last several years to
- 13:23Speaker 1: get things rebuilt. And then you play teams like we
- 13:26Speaker 1: mentioned before, Well, Indiana, your Minnesota is with PJ Fleck,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm blanking that. There's so many other teams. Oh, last
- 13:37Speaker 1: year with Michigan State with melt Tucker coming in.
- 13:42Speaker 3: You see.
- 13:45Speaker 1: A couple of years ago, you see these first year
- 13:47Speaker 1: coaches coming in and beating us, and it just makes
- 13:49Speaker 1: you question the process. So, yeah, with the head coach,
- 13:52Speaker 1: it's one thing, But then when you go with the coordinator,
- 13:54Speaker 1: how much of that applies to a coordinator position? How
- 13:57Speaker 1: interchangeable are they with their system, with their schematics, with
- 14:01Speaker 1: the belief and control they have over their players that
- 14:05Speaker 1: are underneath them. I think that college football is moving
- 14:09Speaker 1: with coordinator especially, They're becoming more and more interchangeable every year,
- 14:15Speaker 1: where all right, this isn't working, scrap, let's try something new.
- 14:19Speaker 1: The problem with that is, though you're not getting any
- 14:22Speaker 1: consistency or chance to recruit the type of players that
- 14:26Speaker 1: you want to fit into the system that you're running.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And I think that's a big part of the process.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So there's given take there both ways. With the transfer portal,
- 14:37Speaker 1: it allows you to be a little more interchangeable and
- 14:40Speaker 1: do that because you can grab people. But it's how
- 14:43Speaker 1: you can identify those players that fit well into our system.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Isaiah and Mayor Jamal Banks praised, they were praise early
- 14:52Speaker 1: on Now last two weeks, three weeks, they're.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Like horrible And do they fit in the type of
- 15:00Speaker 4: offense for running? I don't know.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Dante Daldell, does he fit with what we want to run?
- 15:04Speaker 1: I don't know what do we want to run?
- 15:06Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So that's where all of the questions come into firing
- 15:10Speaker 1: a coach and thinking about the process.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I don't know if they know what they want to run?
- 15:15Speaker 4: Problem?
- 15:18Speaker 3: So what do you?
- 15:18Speaker 1: I mean, what are you guys thoughts on firing coaches.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I mean, dak it sounds like you're like, you're ready,
- 15:23Speaker 1: You're ready to get you want, you want? Will Venable's
- 15:25Speaker 1: gone at Oklahoma. I mean, you're you're.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I mean, I don't I kind of agree with rule
- 15:34Speaker 3: though you know, it's like, hey, it's gonna take time,
- 15:37Speaker 3: And part of it is is how are you rebuilding
- 15:40Speaker 3: the program. I mean rules approaches. We're gonna get young guys.
- 15:44Speaker 3: We're gonna get a bunch of freshmen, and we're gonna
- 15:47Speaker 3: develop them into good players. They're not necessarily good players
- 15:49Speaker 3: out of high school, but in three years are gonna
- 15:51Speaker 3: be good. When you're starting with where you're starting, there's
- 15:55Speaker 3: gonna be a learning curve. And I'm fine with the
- 15:58Speaker 3: idea of like, hey, ringing a guy three years, you
- 16:02Speaker 3: get three years here, guys are going to be We've
- 16:05Speaker 3: got the three year development. This is the year they
- 16:07Speaker 3: need to be hit in the ground if it doesn't
- 16:09Speaker 3: work in year three.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And you think that applies to assistant coaches too, Yes,
- 16:19Speaker 1: they're cheaper to fire.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I think.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I think if you know, like there's nothing that coach
- 16:27Speaker 2: can do to not get fired in the year, why
- 16:30Speaker 2: not just fire him now? Like it's if he knows
- 16:33Speaker 2: he canna get fired. If what's he's definitely not coaching
- 16:36Speaker 2: that hard, like he's pretty prised, sly epen not like
- 16:41Speaker 2: I don't know, but I.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Got you gotta think for the rest of the year though,
- 16:46Speaker 1: right now, Okay, you said you say middle of the
- 16:49Speaker 1: year that you want you want him fired.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I mean what what what's the alternative here? Who's running
- 16:54Speaker 4: the offense? What are we doing? Well?
- 16:56Speaker 5: That's that's the thing is. And you're not like like
- 17:00Speaker 5: an NFL team.
- 17:01Speaker 2: You don't have offensive coaches just sitting in in the
- 17:04Speaker 2: wing behind them, So that's another thing.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Might you might laugh at this, but the optimistic view is,
- 17:10Speaker 1: besides this week, our last four games are games that
- 17:15Speaker 1: we can win. I'm not saying we will win all
- 17:19Speaker 1: four of them, but there are games that we can
- 17:21Speaker 1: win because all these teams have looked really good and
- 17:25Speaker 1: really bad, including Nebraska at times throughout the year. So
- 17:30Speaker 1: you do you make a change like that, I mean,
- 17:32Speaker 1: what does that say for the rest of the year.
- 17:34Speaker 4: You're giving up on the year? I mean, I don't
- 17:36Speaker 4: know what that what that message is to your team.
- 17:40Speaker 4: So that again, I don't think any changes now for sure.
- 17:44Speaker 4: End of the year.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I think that's when you evaluate and you say, what
- 17:46Speaker 1: are we trying to do? The problem is I don't
- 17:50Speaker 1: know that there anybody knows the answer to that, especially
- 17:53Speaker 1: from a fan base perspective. I want to jump into
- 17:56Speaker 1: that here a while, But Dak, I want you to
- 17:58Speaker 1: keep going on your ways to beat Ohio State because
- 18:01Speaker 1: we got off track.
- 18:01Speaker 3: There also update Fantasy Survivor just Just.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Got Killed, not the one I even'ld expect.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Liberty five and OH twenty four point favorites dedroyed by
- 18:19Speaker 3: the OH and six kenesas State. I don't even know
- 18:22Speaker 3: what they're mascot the owls.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Honestly, honestly, Liberty, I thought it'd be really good this year.
- 18:29Speaker 2: They were finding out, but they didn't look as good
- 18:31Speaker 2: as I thought they would. But anyway, okay, here we go.
- 18:37Speaker 2: So here's here's another pre game. You think you do,
- 18:40Speaker 2: you for you act like you forget the time of
- 18:42Speaker 2: the game. You show up at one o'clock. You say, ship,
- 18:46Speaker 2: we missed the game. Never play him again. That's just
- 18:49Speaker 2: the end of that. You just don't play the game.
- 18:52Speaker 3: He's a genius. Hold on what you can't lose a
- 18:55Speaker 3: game you don't play.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Exactly, you forget.
- 19:00Speaker 1: That's not the question. The question is how do we
- 19:02Speaker 1: beat Ohio State? That does not accomplish us beating Ohio State?
- 19:06Speaker 5: Okay, okay, so then here we go.
- 19:10Speaker 4: You can't just out there just say nope, that was bad,
- 19:13Speaker 4: Like what? No?
- 19:17Speaker 5: All right?
- 19:17Speaker 3: The main.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I think one of the main goals is you want
- 19:22Speaker 2: the ball first, you go down and score. If you
- 19:24Speaker 2: give a High State the ball first, they score, I
- 19:26Speaker 2: think you lose all the manim at all, and it's
- 19:28Speaker 2: just gonna be a slaughter from there. You have the
- 19:30Speaker 2: ball first, you want at least move the ball keep
- 19:33Speaker 2: you score a field goal, that's fine. You'd love to
- 19:35Speaker 2: score touchdown on the first drive. Even if you get
- 19:37Speaker 2: to like the forty and you pun it to him,
- 19:39Speaker 2: at least you have a little momentium. I I think
- 19:42Speaker 2: that's the first step you gotta do.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Be them.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Next one is you gotta run the ball. Find a
- 19:46Speaker 2: way to run the ball. Maybe he's a little bit
- 19:48Speaker 2: of motion Sadurfield. For the love of God, don't don't
- 19:54Speaker 2: just line up an affirmation, do the same thing over
- 19:56Speaker 2: and over.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Full emotion.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Pos This is my next question.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That is the message this week, and I think that's
- 20:06Speaker 1: a really good answer to a way to beat Ohio
- 20:11Speaker 1: of State is our run game has to be effective,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and it has not been all year.
- 20:16Speaker 4: It hasn't been last game. When you can't run it
- 20:21Speaker 4: up the middle.
- 20:22Speaker 1: We tried to get our quote unquote run game going
- 20:24Speaker 1: on the perimeter with some bubble screen, some running back flares,
- 20:30Speaker 1: motion like jet sweep type of stuff. Well, guess what,
- 20:33Speaker 1: our perimeter blocking wasn't very good, so we can't do that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I think the key to what I think we're trying
- 20:43Speaker 1: to do on offense is being able to establish the run.
- 20:47Speaker 1: That's what rule says, That's what centerfield now says, even
- 20:50Speaker 1: though we kind of knew that's what they wanted to do.
- 20:53Speaker 4: The question is how because you.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Have to be creative in your run design. I mean,
- 20:59Speaker 3: we're not going.
- 20:59Speaker 1: To don't man them and that that's that's the question
- 21:05Speaker 1: is how much of that can you tweak? And I
- 21:07Speaker 1: mean the motion thing is is a huge topic of conversation.
- 21:11Speaker 4: But then I heard something funny.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It's like, just watch the first time we send the
- 21:15Speaker 1: guy in motion and we try to snap it in
- 21:17Speaker 1: time and all snap it right into him, just like
- 21:19Speaker 1: we did.
- 21:19Speaker 4: With just since.
- 21:21Speaker 1: So we we just we we do we need to
- 21:26Speaker 1: be more creative with our with our run approach. But
- 21:31Speaker 1: it still does a little bit come down to the
- 21:33Speaker 1: players and.
- 21:34Speaker 4: The guys that we have. I just I didn't like,
- 21:36Speaker 4: what other specifics do you guys think that needs to
- 21:39Speaker 4: happen for the run game to go?
- 21:40Speaker 6: Well?
- 21:41Speaker 1: I mean it's hard because We've said this this year
- 21:44Speaker 1: for a long time. And the struggling part about it
- 21:47Speaker 1: is last year our run game was I'm not going
- 21:50Speaker 1: to say it was effective, but it seemed to be
- 21:52Speaker 1: better than it has been this year so far, and
- 21:55Speaker 1: people knew that was the case last year.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I mean, we feel better about our offensive line this
- 22:05Speaker 3: year than we do last year. But I don't know.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I don't know if it's we're just very predictable and
- 22:14Speaker 3: when we're going to run the ball and how we're
- 22:16Speaker 3: going to run the ball, and that is how you
- 22:17Speaker 3: do not establish the run when you are not more
- 22:22Speaker 3: physical than the other team. So you just have to
- 22:25Speaker 3: change one of those two things. You either need to
- 22:28Speaker 3: surprise them when you run the ball, whether that be
- 22:30Speaker 3: like a run pass option or you know you aren't
- 22:34Speaker 3: running on first down every literally every four downs. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 3: more emotions, and it's harder to see where they're running
- 22:44Speaker 3: or who's gonna run the ball and where they're going
- 22:46Speaker 3: to run it.
- 22:47Speaker 5: I don't I don't think it's your own lines fall.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I think I don't either.
- 22:52Speaker 2: The game will play calling is this just name that
- 22:55Speaker 2: the podcast, but it's play calling if the team knows
- 22:58Speaker 2: where you're going to run the ball, winning on the ball.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Their defense is set up for it. Like you've got
- 23:03Speaker 2: to switch it up and like you said, run past option.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I know you don't want to run run all up,
- 23:08Speaker 2: but at least make it a threat like.
- 23:11Speaker 3: That would be wild. If they came out and their
- 23:13Speaker 3: ship up like Heyrichs starting today, we're just gonna freaking you're.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Talking about ruining a team.
- 23:20Speaker 3: I mean, if you want to beat Ohio State, that's
- 23:22Speaker 3: what you do. You throw a freaking curveball. I mean,
- 23:26Speaker 3: you guys.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Got don't I forgot about run more with him?
- 23:32Speaker 4: You wait, but you just said that ruin our team.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Don't don't have to start the game.
- 23:37Speaker 2: But but but scree yeah, run run more with them.
- 23:44Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Maybe maybe speaking a toss, running back toss every now
- 23:49Speaker 2: and then run do something.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Jesus, it's the same run play over and over.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But my so, you guys got where my head went
- 24:00Speaker 1: to answer this question.
- 24:01Speaker 4: And I think we probably will see more.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I think we will if if we're trying to beat them,
- 24:06Speaker 1: which you have to write as a team. You can't
- 24:08Speaker 1: just go to the team and say, well, we're.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Probably not gonna win today, like you're you're putting.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Together a game plan to beat Ohio State to make
- 24:16Speaker 1: them believe that. And I think Heinrich Harberg at the
- 24:20Speaker 1: quarterback running it more even though everybody knows he's gonna
- 24:23Speaker 1: run it when he's in, but then also getting it,
- 24:25Speaker 1: getting in the ability to throw. And the other side
- 24:28Speaker 1: of that is can we get Dylan to run? And
- 24:32Speaker 1: I don't know the answer. Can if Dylan quote unquote
- 24:34Speaker 1: can't run, like, is he literally immobile and cannot move?
- 24:42Speaker 4: I don't.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I just I feel like every human being can move
- 24:46Speaker 1: at some point a little bit.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Especially a zerold athlete now.
- 24:51Speaker 4: And are we protecting from injury? I don't know. So
- 24:54Speaker 4: there's there's a and I don't agree with that. That's
- 24:58Speaker 4: what we're doing.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So the quarterback we're game last year was what kept
- 25:02Speaker 1: teams a little bit guessing and a little more unpredictable,
- 25:06Speaker 1: even though they knew we were running the ball how
- 25:07Speaker 1: we are running the ball, there were more options. Right now,
- 25:11Speaker 1: we can't get anything going on the edge. The best
- 25:13Speaker 1: plays have been with your Corey Barney, but now those
- 25:16Speaker 1: are just you can call it a mile away.
- 25:20Speaker 3: You know when they're gonna sweep it too.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Our running backs are, like you guys said, are mediocre
- 25:27Speaker 1: at best. Like again, I go back to five to
- 25:29Speaker 1: six out of ten, like they're all about there. None
- 25:33Speaker 1: of them are making guys miss. We've been preaching that
- 25:36Speaker 1: and hoping that happens. It's not happening. So the next
- 25:40Speaker 1: option I guess to change is to go to the
- 25:42Speaker 1: more quarterback run game and try it out. And I'm
- 25:45Speaker 1: not saying it's gonna work, but that's what you have
- 25:47Speaker 1: to give a shot if that's what your identity and mos.
- 25:51Speaker 4: This is kind of funny.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Because I I just been listening to a whole bunch
- 25:55Speaker 1: of stuff and listening to people getting people's s thoughts.
- 25:58Speaker 4: This is kind of funny.
- 25:59Speaker 1: These are all things I heard, not like maybe word
- 26:01Speaker 1: for word, but just get this. For people say we
- 26:06Speaker 1: can't run the ball because we have no pass game.
- 26:10Speaker 1: For people say we can't pass the ball because because.
- 26:12Speaker 4: We have no run game.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So again completely opposites, but people basically saying this is
- 26:17Speaker 1: why we can't do that. We have to stop trying
- 26:20Speaker 1: to set up the run with the pass, and then
- 26:23Speaker 1: we have to stop trying to set up the pass
- 26:25Speaker 1: with the run. So it's like nobody knows exactly why
- 26:31Speaker 1: or what the problem is.
- 26:34Speaker 4: With the run game.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And I get a lot of those things that are
- 26:37Speaker 1: probably true, but you think that this coaching staff aren't
- 26:40Speaker 1: having some of the same thoughts, like what the hell?
- 26:43Speaker 1: And then you want to go and do we just
- 26:45Speaker 1: don't have the players to run the ball versus we're
- 26:48Speaker 1: not Like that's saying we were not scheming, we're not
- 26:52Speaker 1: play calling correctly. We don't our players are too complex
- 26:55Speaker 1: or not complex enough. We're all over the place. That's
- 26:59Speaker 1: what's fascinating as a fan is there's not a consensus
- 27:03Speaker 1: on what's wrong. And guess what, the coaching staff is
- 27:06Speaker 1: probably in the same boat too, And that's where it
- 27:08Speaker 1: comes down to the quote unquote word identity on what
- 27:11Speaker 1: in the world are we trying to do?
- 27:13Speaker 4: You want to run the ball?
- 27:14Speaker 3: Great, I think this week that's and that's what rules like,
- 27:17Speaker 3: we're gonna we're gonna establish the run. And then he
- 27:19Speaker 3: told Satnfield, Hey, we're going to establish the run, and
- 27:22Speaker 3: so I think this week they're like, all right, this
- 27:24Speaker 3: is what we're gonna do. We're gonna run the ball.
- 27:26Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm as upset about the five
- 27:28Speaker 3: to six ranked four running backs we have because I
- 27:33Speaker 3: I mean, obviously the NFL is different, but you see,
- 27:36Speaker 3: not great running backs do well mm hmm, Like you
- 27:40Speaker 3: don't have to be a great running back to do like,
- 27:44Speaker 3: you know, serviceable running to get.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You know, line, which do we We just said we did,
- 27:52Speaker 1: we thought we did.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I know, that's what I'm saying.
- 27:55Speaker 5: I'm not saying it's great. It's you have a good
- 27:57Speaker 5: offensive line.
- 27:57Speaker 3: It's not great. But you see, like in the NFL,
- 27:59Speaker 3: I mean Kyle Shanahan could bring the fifth string running
- 28:02Speaker 3: back in.
- 28:05Speaker 4: One of the better offensive lines in the NFL.
- 28:07Speaker 3: What about Miami? I mean, any running back you put
- 28:10Speaker 3: in Miami, they don't have a great offensive line.
- 28:14Speaker 1: That so then that goes down to play calling what
- 28:17Speaker 1: you're saying, And I think it.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Is pretty heavily play calling for running I really do. Obviously,
- 28:26Speaker 3: you do have to have a decent offensive line, you
- 28:27Speaker 3: have to have decent running backs. But I think we
- 28:29Speaker 3: have both. An elite offensive line allows you to be
- 28:33Speaker 3: an elite offensive running team. But I don't think we're
- 28:37Speaker 3: I don't think we need that. We just need a
- 28:39Speaker 3: decent running team and we don't even have a decent
- 28:41Speaker 3: running game.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, like I said about people respecting your pass
- 28:48Speaker 2: and respect your run. There's no White people are stacking
- 28:50Speaker 2: the box because they have they have to expect them
- 28:53Speaker 2: aunt a little bit. There's no way that putting nine
- 28:55Speaker 2: in the box against you. And I think, man, maybe
- 29:00Speaker 2: your running back isn't good enough to miss make people
- 29:03Speaker 2: missing stuff that they need huge holes and you men
- 29:06Speaker 2: coaches see that practice that they are elusive enough, so
- 29:09Speaker 2: they just run out the middle.
- 29:10Speaker 5: I guess and say, deaf it. I don't know.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I don't need to be elite to get two yards
- 29:17Speaker 3: three yards on a carry. They're not even getting that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: They're getting like zero and one.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Man, maybe these are running backs aren't good enough.
- 29:25Speaker 1: So I think that here comes this question when it
- 29:27Speaker 1: comes to play calling, because I think there are fans
- 29:29Speaker 1: out there. I'm not there, but some people are that say, yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: if we can get three yards of carry, four urge
- 29:36Speaker 1: to carry, then run it every time, like just mono imano.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Let's physically destroy them and run it every So that's
- 29:47Speaker 1: one option. I don't think I'll have states and team
- 29:50Speaker 1: to try that out on, but it might need to
- 29:52Speaker 1: be to potentially win the so like, yeah, like let's
- 29:58Speaker 1: go through second and seven what are we doing? You know,
- 30:01Speaker 1: let's say you run it, get three yards, I'd be great.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Are we passing at second and seven? Are we running
- 30:06Speaker 1: at second and seven?
- 30:08Speaker 4: Like?
- 30:09Speaker 1: People go through those scenarios and some want and then
- 30:12Speaker 1: if you and then if you pass it, and then
- 30:13Speaker 1: you say, oh, third seven, third and long, and we
- 30:15Speaker 1: gotta pass it again.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Oh.
- 30:17Speaker 1: So you just go down this rabbit hole of of
- 30:19Speaker 1: what's right and what's wrong is play calling. I really
- 30:23Speaker 1: hope that the coaching staff has the right idea. But
- 30:27Speaker 1: what we're saying is that the coaching staff is the
- 30:29Speaker 1: problem and the scheming is the problem, then maybe they
- 30:32Speaker 1: don't have the right mindset. The problem. The thing is
- 30:35Speaker 1: with the fans. Everyone's got their own vision. I guess
- 30:38Speaker 1: we're with fans. We're just we're just media or whatever
- 30:41Speaker 1: we are.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I'm also confused. We've moved away from our high to
- 30:45Speaker 3: state thing, but we'll come back. I'm also confused because
- 30:47Speaker 3: the whole thing is said Field is like again, like
- 30:50Speaker 3: I said on Sunday, he has this massive playbook. What
- 30:53Speaker 3: the hell is in this freaking playbook? Or don't see
- 30:56Speaker 3: it on the passing game? We don't see in the
- 30:57Speaker 3: running game. Why is it so big, and why is
- 31:01Speaker 3: it so complicated? And supposedly we're seeing the whole thing.
- 31:05Speaker 1: It's the funny thing is complicated because I've heard that.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I remember who it was.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Was it?
- 31:11Speaker 4: Uh? I think Danny Kalin said the PA and.
- 31:14Speaker 3: The players of South Carolina said, it is a big
- 31:16Speaker 3: complicated playbook.
- 31:17Speaker 1: What's what's hilarious is and you watch his play and
- 31:19Speaker 1: everyone just says, Wow, we're running such a simple offense. Yes,
- 31:24Speaker 1: it's so funny because it's like nothing, it's not adding
- 31:27Speaker 1: up as.
- 31:27Speaker 3: The ones happening. Like I said on Sunday, they said
- 31:30Speaker 3: that it's open, they're not holding anything back. So like,
- 31:33Speaker 3: this is it. This is the big complicated playbook. Alex
- 31:37Speaker 3: Bulock's gonna block on the Jets sweep with Barney and
- 31:40Speaker 3: we're gonna run it up the middle and first down
- 31:42Speaker 3: every time. I just don't get it.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Okay, that keep going because I I have some thoughts
- 31:49Speaker 1: on our offense and what we gotta do, but I
- 31:50Speaker 1: want to see if you hit on him, let's see
- 31:52Speaker 1: how good of a.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Coach you are.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Well, my next one was you gotta run some trick plays,
- 31:59Speaker 2: which I guess we kind of.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Your favorite trick play. What's your favorite trick play.
- 32:06Speaker 5: I've been calling it for the last year on this podcast.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Run a flea flicker.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Flu flickers are great.
- 32:12Speaker 5: That is my favorite.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Alto that at running back pass, although that that go
- 32:16Speaker 2: south quick if the running back just decides to throw anyway,
- 32:19Speaker 2: but easily.
- 32:20Speaker 5: The flee flicker I've been calling for. I think you.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Ran it week one.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I think we're in a week one this year, which
- 32:29Speaker 5: that's just a waste. Come on against you, tib I
- 32:32Speaker 5: don't care running again. Who cares? You're gonna get smoked
- 32:36Speaker 5: either way? Just run any.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I don't run a trick play for the love of guy,
- 32:41Speaker 2: but I don't think so Field has that in his
- 32:43Speaker 2: bible of a freaking playbook.
- 32:46Speaker 5: All Right, next one, I think you gotta play dirty. Wow,
- 32:52Speaker 5: you got to show up with some edge on you.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I don't care if people get I don't can get
- 32:57Speaker 2: ejected to play dirty as you guys just got a
- 33:00Speaker 2: bliterated last week. Should imagine you play chippy? Maybe throw
- 33:05Speaker 2: a little knee shot at Will Howard and here and there. Yep,
- 33:08Speaker 2: you know what happens when you when you hit a
- 33:10Speaker 2: quarterback a low and stuff makes him back off, scares
- 33:13Speaker 2: him a little bit.
- 33:15Speaker 1: All of a sudden, will Howard to go out for
- 33:18Speaker 1: the year and Dack's gonna be getting arrested.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Uh so do that? Okay, get what you're saying. You
- 33:27Speaker 4: went extreme.
- 33:30Speaker 5: I'm not saying blow his knees out.
- 33:31Speaker 4: But basically what you just said.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Uh, it's kind of the same concept that we talked
- 33:41Speaker 1: about before Colorado was the word being edgy, have a
- 33:46Speaker 1: chip on your shoulder. Austin noticed in the Indiana game
- 33:49Speaker 1: how we had zero of that on TV. We need
- 33:52Speaker 1: to have some of that, even though at the team
- 33:54Speaker 1: that we as fans think that we're probably not gonna win,
- 33:59Speaker 1: the players should them out with a and yeah, you
- 34:02Speaker 1: might get laughed at if we do get me bad,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but that's the mindset you have to have. You have
- 34:06Speaker 1: to come out fired up and play with an edge.
- 34:09Speaker 4: On your shoulder.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I'm not saying play dirty, but I did say it
- 34:14Speaker 1: would be fun to get in some guys faces early
- 34:17Speaker 1: on and make them go look at you guys, just
- 34:19Speaker 1: to show them you know what, No, like, we're not
- 34:20Speaker 1: backing down. I think you should do that every game, though, Like,
- 34:24Speaker 1: I don't think that's just for a really good team,
- 34:27Speaker 1: because we didn't you know you don't do that against Indiana.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I guess what, you get your ass kicked. So I
- 34:32Speaker 1: like that one deck, just maybe not as extreme as you.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Went next one.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Ah, there's more it's going to It's gonna contradict what
- 34:44Speaker 2: I said about the run game, but let let Yola
- 34:48Speaker 2: air it out. What I don't I don't mean throw
- 34:54Speaker 2: four times a game. I mean throw the ball deep.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'll say about this, when was the last time Jayalen
- 34:59Speaker 2: Lloyd has had a deep ball.
- 34:59Speaker 3: For on him thrown to him and caught her. Two
- 35:03Speaker 3: different things.
- 35:05Speaker 4: Just straight up thrown kind of Both of them are zero.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Yeah, throw deep and you know what.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I get get any going to that. I like that
- 35:17Speaker 2: last week. That that, like I said's really bright spot.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Get him going to use him one past game even
- 35:22Speaker 2: though he's he has no listeners to me either.
- 35:26Speaker 5: I don't know what he's what he does for juke
- 35:29Speaker 5: moves or anything, but he's run straight like like you're running.
- 35:32Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 35:33Speaker 3: He's just a big tight end of solid hands.
- 35:36Speaker 1: You know, I'm glad you elaborated because if you'd have
- 35:40Speaker 1: left it at established the wrong game and let Dylan
- 35:43Speaker 1: Royola air it out, uh, I agree, And I'm gonna
- 35:49Speaker 1: throw this in here too.
- 35:52Speaker 4: And nobody's talked about it. I haven't heard a word
- 35:54Speaker 4: about it. Who is our other deep threat on this team?
- 35:59Speaker 1: Mayor Carter Nelson, maybe no Arnie Barnie, maybe Malachi Malachi Coleman.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Maybe we made the decision not to play him this year,
- 36:17Speaker 1: right or play him in select games. I think Malachi
- 36:21Speaker 1: is coming out this game. He got he's got four games.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I think he's coming out to play. I don't agree
- 36:27Speaker 1: with a guy like that. Why we Why we said, hey,
- 36:31Speaker 1: we're gonna retcherd him this year? They're thinking process? I
- 36:36Speaker 1: get it, I just disagree with it. Why if we
- 36:39Speaker 1: have a guy that has that deep threat and clearly
- 36:43Speaker 1: we're lacking that, why we Why is it?
- 36:46Speaker 4: Why is a freshman not playing in every game?
- 36:48Speaker 1: Now?
- 36:48Speaker 4: Maybe they thought that.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Mayor Banks, Jaylen Lloyd, those guys were gonna be those
- 36:55Speaker 1: deep threats, But like Daxson, we're not even trying it,
- 36:58Speaker 1: which is what's fascinating. Again, even if it's incomplete, there
- 37:04Speaker 1: has to be that threat right of doing it so
- 37:07Speaker 1: that they can't just load the box up. And how
- 37:09Speaker 1: are Keams defending us right now? They're playing Mandom man
- 37:13Speaker 1: press coverage on the outside because they know that we're
- 37:15Speaker 1: faster and quicker than them.
- 37:16Speaker 4: We're not gonna throw it, so they're gonna play man
- 37:19Speaker 4: on the outside and then on the inside you're gonna
- 37:21Speaker 4: bring more guys in the box and stop the run.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Like That's how teams are defending us. It's pretty simple
- 37:26Speaker 1: what they're doing.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Then it shows, I mean, Reola has a bad QBR
- 37:30Speaker 3: against Manda Man.
- 37:32Speaker 1: So now the question is if we do that because
- 37:36Speaker 1: that guy agree, that's in my little game plan here,
- 37:39Speaker 1: when is the time to do that? Because if we
- 37:43Speaker 1: do that on first and ten, oh boy, that is
- 37:45Speaker 1: gonna I mean, that's that is contradicting establishing the run.
- 37:50Speaker 1: The best time to do that are win second, two, right,
- 37:53Speaker 1: second and three. How many second and two and threes
- 37:55Speaker 1: if we had all year?
- 37:56Speaker 5: None?
- 37:58Speaker 1: So or the question is when now you're gonna do
- 38:02Speaker 1: it on third and eleven at shocker. Now, maybe that
- 38:06Speaker 1: is an option on third and eleven because we.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Don't do that. We I don't even know what we
- 38:10Speaker 4: do on third and eleven.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Half the time, you also gotta have time for those
- 38:14Speaker 1: guys get down there to throw the pass, which I
- 38:16Speaker 1: think we did a decent job of So, yeah, there
- 38:18Speaker 1: is that point of it, But I agree that threat
- 38:21Speaker 1: needs to show up somehow, some way with anyone, even
- 38:25Speaker 1: if it's looks horrible a couple of times.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Throw it twice a game, three times a game, and
- 38:30Speaker 4: guess what.
- 38:31Speaker 1: To win this game, maybe we'll just have to get
- 38:34Speaker 1: a tipped ball or a bounce off a guy's helmet
- 38:36Speaker 1: into one of those guys hand for a touch.
- 38:38Speaker 4: And that's gonna have to happen plays like that for
- 38:40Speaker 4: us to win. We're gonna have to get a couple
- 38:41Speaker 4: of those.
- 38:42Speaker 1: We're not gonna be able to put fourteen play drives
- 38:44Speaker 1: together and score twenty one points that way.
- 38:46Speaker 4: It's not gonna happen.
- 38:50Speaker 2: What also happens on deep balls all the time? Past
- 38:52Speaker 2: interference yep, yep, Like that's pass. It happens all time
- 38:58Speaker 2: with deep balls.
- 38:59Speaker 5: Just throw it up there. Something some terrible could easily happen.
- 39:02Speaker 5: But it's a lot.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Harder for an interception. I mean, because the usually the
- 39:08Speaker 3: defensive backs their heads away from the ball, So I
- 39:10Speaker 3: mean it's it's probably less of a likelihood if you're
- 39:13Speaker 3: throwing a deep one to the outside, like outside the numbers,
- 39:16Speaker 3: you're it's probably less likely for an interception, I feel
- 39:19Speaker 3: than if you're doing inside the numbers.
- 39:21Speaker 4: And I'd rather on a forty yard pass than ten
- 39:24Speaker 4: yard pass. It's like more like a something terrible is
- 39:28Speaker 4: going to happen.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I mean, it can't get much worse, right, Like, it's
- 39:33Speaker 1: not it's not like anything's.
- 39:34Speaker 4: Worked real well. So that that that, to me offensively,
- 39:38Speaker 4: was the most disappointing thing in the Indiana game is
- 39:41Speaker 4: that it just looked like we continue to do the
- 39:43Speaker 4: same stuff that we did coming off even when it
- 39:47Speaker 4: wasn't working, We're still We're still doing It was not
- 39:50Speaker 4: like our offense was good against Ruggers or Purdue either,
- 39:52Speaker 4: So that was a frustrating part.
- 39:54Speaker 1: You hope you see some different things after what happened
- 39:57Speaker 1: any other ones.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Dak.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Last one, you just got to help this come back
- 40:04Speaker 2: to his case State days he had that Will Howard
- 40:07Speaker 2: has one of his off games, even as time in
- 40:10Speaker 2: K State. Every season you have one or two games
- 40:12Speaker 2: where he was just awful and he was great, but
- 40:15Speaker 2: he's got to hope it's one of those games. I
- 40:17Speaker 2: think back to the Iowa Stick game last year. He
- 40:19Speaker 2: was terrible in that game. He's that's zul career. He said,
- 40:22Speaker 2: one bad game, one or two for a season. He's
- 40:24Speaker 2: got to help that this week.
- 40:28Speaker 4: You were they're gonna have to make some mistakes.
- 40:29Speaker 3: I agree.
- 40:30Speaker 1: If Bio State just comes out and plays average, it's
- 40:33Speaker 1: gonna be hard to beat him what we have. Yeah,
- 40:35Speaker 1: Will Howard's been pretty damn good this year for him.
- 40:39Speaker 1: He's not that a Heisman type number put upper, but
- 40:43Speaker 1: he's thrown fourteen touchdowns, three picks, and thrown from about
- 40:47Speaker 1: eighty percent completed percentage pretty dang close to it. So
- 40:51Speaker 1: like he is now, he's got a lot of pieces
- 40:55Speaker 1: around him. When you talk about the running backs, two
- 40:59Speaker 1: of them with Udkins and Henderson, I mean they're both
- 41:02Speaker 1: they both have over four hundred yards, six touchdowns, four touchdowns.
- 41:06Speaker 1: We mentioned the five point nine yards per Carrie first
- 41:09Speaker 1: in the Big Ten. And then these are receivers who
- 41:14Speaker 1: I mean, Jeremih Smith, number one overall recruit in the
- 41:18Speaker 1: country last year, came in and just over the top
- 41:23Speaker 1: spot pretty much. I mean you could argue that maybe
- 41:26Speaker 1: a Mecca think Buka is like still they're number one,
- 41:30Speaker 1: but I mean Jeremiah Smith is damn good and they
- 41:32Speaker 1: still got Cardinal Tatan And who's a really outstanding freshman
- 41:37Speaker 1: last year, and they brought another freshman, Brandon Ennis this year.
- 41:39Speaker 1: So they just they have so many, so many pieces
- 41:43Speaker 1: around them that we're not We're not anywhere close to that.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And you don't want to use the word never you
- 41:48Speaker 1: would say that to a team. We just got to
- 41:49Speaker 1: hope they mess up. But a little bit of it is,
- 41:53Speaker 1: you know, we got nice to have a little luck
- 41:56Speaker 1: or the ball bounce in our way, if you know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: we do get to Will Howard and we can get
- 42:01Speaker 1: a strip sack and the ball just bounces into one
- 42:04Speaker 1: of our d linemen and maybe instead of we're just
- 42:07Speaker 1: falling on it, we are able to scoop it and
- 42:08Speaker 1: scoop and score.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Type of play like that. Like I think that stuff
- 42:11Speaker 4: needs to happen for us to win. I just don't
- 42:13Speaker 4: think we're gonna be able to put enoughing in a
- 42:16Speaker 4: week to score to beat have State.
- 42:19Speaker 3: No, don't forget they're coming off of bye week after
- 42:22Speaker 3: losing to Organ. I mean, you know, we're coming off
- 42:26Speaker 3: of well, you know, an ash whooping. So he's like, oh,
- 42:28Speaker 3: we're gonna have a little extra edge to us. They're
- 42:30Speaker 3: gonna be freaking pissed, and they've had a whole week
- 42:34Speaker 3: to stew on it and prep.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Now, how much of Ohio save Agans watch this year
- 42:41Speaker 2: because I've only watched half a quarter, so I don't
- 42:43Speaker 2: know how good they really are.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I watched the Organ game and they look pretty competitive
- 42:49Speaker 3: against the team that I think pretty highly of.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's I mean, I haven't watched them a
- 42:55Speaker 4: whole lot.
- 42:56Speaker 5: I haven't played anybody besides Organ.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they're I've been one. They are still
- 43:01Speaker 1: right number four in the country.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Uh. Chip Kelly's r O C two.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I think you see a lot of his creativity, which
- 43:12Speaker 1: I would say he's one of the more creative offensive
- 43:14Speaker 1: coaches in college football that they've had this century.
- 43:18Speaker 4: So I think that that poachs well for him. Then
- 43:22Speaker 4: they're in a third year, uh season for with Jim
- 43:26Speaker 4: Knowles run that four two five, and guys, Ryan Day.
- 43:30Speaker 4: This is just crazy to me. Okay, before I say
- 43:34Speaker 4: the Ryan Day stat, you guys think grand.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Is a good coach?
- 43:38Speaker 4: No, yes, I do too, Dak says no, But Dak,
- 43:43Speaker 4: you're not. You're not wrong with that.
- 43:45Speaker 1: It's so funny how that Michigan gamings so much to
- 43:48Speaker 1: them that they're they're calling first head like if they
- 43:54Speaker 1: can't turn things around. And I get the expectations are
- 43:58Speaker 1: a little bit different, but he's sixty one to nine
- 44:02Speaker 1: that he's lost nine games in like six years years
- 44:05Speaker 1: at Ohio State, nine total games. So you want to
- 44:10Speaker 1: say what you want about their performance. I guess in
- 44:12Speaker 1: the postseason, their expectations are maybe a little different. But
- 44:16Speaker 1: the guy's a good coach, and this is a statement
- 44:18Speaker 1: game for them, Like coming off a bye week, they want, like,
- 44:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry if it's thirty five to seven, they're not
- 44:30Speaker 1: just our block out. They they want a statement game
- 44:32Speaker 1: to show the country that no, we're still legit and
- 44:36Speaker 1: Indiana beating Nebraska fifty nine or fifty six to seven,
- 44:38Speaker 1: we can do it too.
- 44:40Speaker 4: That's what's scary if it starts going south.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Now, the flip side is if we can keep it close,
- 44:45Speaker 1: it's gonna look a lot better.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I just they're going not going.
- 44:49Speaker 1: They're they they're gonna be fired up, Like we're talking
- 44:53Speaker 1: a lot about us, and we should be talking a
- 44:55Speaker 1: lot about us, but look at their situation, look at
- 44:58Speaker 1: their spot.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Yeah, they're gonna kill us. Just it's gonna be bad.
- 45:04Speaker 3: I they are dak if I told you who, who
- 45:07Speaker 3: do you think is last? And the big ten and
- 45:09Speaker 3: field goals made in twenty twenty four Minnesota, No, it's
- 45:18Speaker 3: freaking Ohio State.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Okay, they haven't kicked one.
- 45:22Speaker 3: They've kicked three this year, but they have one hundred
- 45:26Speaker 3: red zone success so you do the math there and
- 45:31Speaker 3: then a number of points they've scored. All they do
- 45:33Speaker 3: is score breaking touchdowns.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I can't I can house Nebraska made more than three.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I can't remember a single one they made.
- 45:44Speaker 5: They Yeah, I'm gonna.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Say in the UTEB game that all that.
- 45:50Speaker 5: That was one of my last points. Do make your kicks.
- 45:52Speaker 5: I mean that's pretty obvious. But first first you gotta
- 45:55Speaker 5: get down to the spot where you can kick it.
- 45:57Speaker 3: So ideally, we were not anything. We're just scoring. I remember,
- 46:01Speaker 3: we have to score touchdowns like we're not. Hey that
- 46:05Speaker 3: this game is not a twenty one seventeen grinder. I
- 46:10Speaker 3: mean this is gonna be. If we win, it's gonna
- 46:12Speaker 3: be forty two to thirty five, two to thirty eight.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Like I mean, I disagree because I I'm the opposite.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I can't see us winning that because I still no
- 46:23Speaker 1: matter what can't see us scoring that. What I can
- 46:25Speaker 1: see happening is if we do if we if Ohio State,
- 46:28Speaker 1: like if Will Howard throws three picks, or if word
- 46:33Speaker 1: gets out and we injure his knee and he goes
- 46:36Speaker 1: out the first drive of the game.
- 46:39Speaker 4: I'm sure.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I'm sure they'll bring in Julian say say it, and
- 46:41Speaker 1: he'll be stefinitely to be fine.
- 46:45Speaker 4: But you're probably right that prob would be how we win.
- 46:48Speaker 1: And then and then we get a pick six, so
- 46:49Speaker 1: we get a kick off return, we get a fumble recovery.
- 46:51Speaker 1: That's how we get twenty one. And then i'll they
- 46:54Speaker 1: just mess up enough to score seventeen. It's we're talking
- 46:57Speaker 1: about how we're gonna win.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Right if we were taking in score, But that's not
- 47:04Speaker 3: happening because Ohio State is.
- 47:07Speaker 4: Going to just kill us. Okay, so let me go
- 47:13Speaker 4: through Dak.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I think you got through a lot of your things
- 47:15Speaker 1: specifics in the game here.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I'm like, last point too, there was actually one more point.
- 47:20Speaker 2: You gotta take the crowd out of it. That's the
- 47:25Speaker 2: last point too.
- 47:26Speaker 5: You there you go.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I think I think all those things, if you do
- 47:29Speaker 1: those things, the crowd will be out of it.
- 47:31Speaker 5: So yeah, that's the end of my list.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Not ah, I agree.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I do think again, things gotta be different, right. If
- 47:42Speaker 1: you try to do the same thing we did against Indiana,
- 47:45Speaker 1: the score is probably not gonna look much different, So
- 47:47Speaker 1: why not try something different? It might look catastrophic at times.
- 47:50Speaker 1: This is the game to say, you know what, screw it,
- 47:52Speaker 1: let's do it. I do like taking the ball first.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I do like seeing if we can go down score first.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I like that you do that, you go, huh, the momentum,
- 48:00Speaker 1: the the edgy neus, the you're feeling good by doing that.
- 48:06Speaker 4: We're going to need to bring off a couple of runs.
- 48:08Speaker 1: You know, we haven't done that, and we're gonna have
- 48:10Speaker 1: to hit a deep ball here or there. I don't
- 48:12Speaker 1: think it's the game to try to say, okay, second
- 48:14Speaker 1: and all of our time, you know, try to throw
- 48:17Speaker 1: passes across the middle.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Yes, get Fidoni going when we can.
- 48:19Speaker 1: But it's I think it's run the clock down to
- 48:22Speaker 1: two seconds every time and snap it, run it, and
- 48:27Speaker 1: then on third down you take a deep shot. You
- 48:29Speaker 1: hope you hit one. If you don't, Bochini, you better
- 48:31Speaker 1: be good. The kicking game better be good. So like,
- 48:35Speaker 1: that's to me kind of the strategy the whole game.
- 48:37Speaker 4: And then you got to just.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Play the clock really really well around halftime and at
- 48:42Speaker 1: the end of the game, like you just have to.
- 48:44Speaker 4: And I know, do you guys remember how Northern Iowa
- 48:46Speaker 4: played us?
- 48:47Speaker 3: We are Northern Iowa.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Yeah there you go that. Yeah, yeah, And.
- 48:55Speaker 1: In the second half when their athletes are starting to
- 48:57Speaker 1: maybe dominate us, you gotta hope that, you know, a
- 49:01Speaker 1: couple of weird things happen where they mess up, where
- 49:04Speaker 1: they throw a bad pass, We get a tip pass
- 49:06Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage, it popped up and it falls
- 49:08Speaker 1: into someone's hands. We block the punt, but why not, Like,
- 49:12Speaker 1: what is there to lose this game? Try some different things, right,
- 49:16Speaker 1: especially on offense, but try some different things and see
- 49:19Speaker 1: what works, what sticks, and what Some things are gonna
- 49:22Speaker 1: be just catastrophic and you're gonna say, we're never doing
- 49:24Speaker 1: that again.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Heck.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I like the idea of coming out and running the
- 49:28Speaker 1: triple option like we did back in twenty twenty with Frost,
- 49:33Speaker 1: go down and do that for a drive. If we
- 49:35Speaker 1: can put that in in a week, and that might
- 49:36Speaker 1: be hard to do because it's completely different, but yeah,
- 49:39Speaker 1: I think that's the that's the formula to give us
- 49:43Speaker 1: a shot, which is what you're selling to your team.
- 49:45Speaker 1: If you go into the locker room this week and
- 49:47Speaker 1: you say, all right, here's the small tweaks that we're
- 49:49Speaker 1: making from last week to try to beat Ohio State,
- 49:51Speaker 1: They're gonna look at you and they're gonna go, kid.
- 49:55Speaker 4: You're your joking.
- 49:57Speaker 1: So I think that's what you have to instill in
- 50:00Speaker 1: in the guy's minds. You cannot just tell them out
- 50:02Speaker 1: we're gonna we're just gonna make a couple of things
- 50:04Speaker 1: here and try it out now after what happened last week,
- 50:07Speaker 1: there's some major changes need to happen. It's gonna be
- 50:09Speaker 1: a tough game to see those actually play out, but
- 50:12Speaker 1: that's what you need to do at this point for
- 50:14Speaker 1: this game.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Yep, I agree. I liked a lot of I like
- 50:18Speaker 3: what I want to see a lot of Heinrich and
- 50:22Speaker 3: that's yeah. Every I mean, I agree with everything else
- 50:24Speaker 3: we kind of talked about as we're going through it.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Zero chance it works, But you're right, Dak.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Number of trick plays over under, give me, give me
- 50:34Speaker 1: a line.
- 50:37Speaker 2: If I was that one's coordinator or the guy the idiot,
- 50:39Speaker 2: You got.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Both what what what is actually gonna happen?
- 50:44Speaker 3: Then?
- 50:44Speaker 4: What would you do if you were the OC?
- 50:47Speaker 5: What's actually happened one the half? If I was OLC six.
- 50:51Speaker 1: So I want to hear I want before we end here,
- 50:54Speaker 1: I want to hear you go through like all the
- 50:56Speaker 1: trick plays you can think of that you would run.
- 50:58Speaker 1: You mentioned the half back pass, you mentioned in the
- 51:00Speaker 1: fleet flicker. Would you run the fleet flicker six times?
- 51:03Speaker 5: I have no joke? Run it three times?
- 51:05Speaker 4: Okay? What else? What else are we thrown at him?
- 51:11Speaker 2: Do you call Rayola running a trick play?
- 51:16Speaker 4: Maybe the fake punt.
- 51:20Speaker 3: The yeah, ultiple offensive lineman running back, the toss running back,
- 51:30Speaker 3: throw it or run it?
- 51:33Speaker 5: Tell him even I it's covered, throw it, it's screw it.
- 51:36Speaker 5: Next one fake punt for sure, fake because you ain't
- 51:41Speaker 5: making the kick either way, So for sure you run
- 51:43Speaker 5: one of those. They probably know it's counting. But there's
- 51:47Speaker 5: something that's.
- 51:51Speaker 4: What's your favorite? What's what's the fake field goal play
- 51:54Speaker 4: that's worked the most in your in your experience?
- 51:58Speaker 5: Next question, I know exactly a drastic.
- 52:03Speaker 4: What would you run if you're running a fake field goal?
- 52:06Speaker 2: Maybe tossed back to the kicker roll out to the right,
- 52:09Speaker 2: and someone's gonna be wind up the back and the
- 52:11Speaker 2: end zone.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Austin for for inside, Joe Clarity and everybody else. I've
- 52:18Speaker 1: I think I've scored on that extra point on Dak
- 52:21Speaker 1: like over fifteen times when I played him in college football,
- 52:24Speaker 1: and he's still the fall sport every time.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Dag.
- 52:32Speaker 5: What was your record last year? Hunter?
- 52:36Speaker 4: I did lose one game and it was the U.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Uh all right, yeah, Austin Survivor pools out, So.
- 52:49Speaker 3: The one I didn't think it was gonna be an issue.
- 52:51Speaker 5: What was the score?
- 52:52Speaker 3: Final score that twenty seven to twenty four, all sudden
- 52:56Speaker 3: they got the ball back with six seconds left, Liberty did.
- 53:00Speaker 5: That's actually a massive upset. What the hell happened?
- 53:06Speaker 1: What we're gonna do on starting on Sunday, and we're
- 53:10Speaker 1: gonna do a new Survivor pool, but we're switching the NBA.
- 53:13Speaker 1: NBA started last night.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Today.
- 53:15Speaker 1: There's a bunch of games. We're gonna pick one game
- 53:21Speaker 1: for the week. I believe it now teams played multiple games,
- 53:24Speaker 1: but you're picking the game in the week that you
- 53:27Speaker 1: are picking a winner of. You can't use the same
- 53:29Speaker 1: NBA team twice never done something like this before at
- 53:32Speaker 1: the NBA, but I think it's kind of fun. All
- 53:34Speaker 1: three of us are NBA followers. Actually, I would say
- 53:37Speaker 1: you two probably a lot more than even I am.
- 53:40Speaker 1: So should be some fun. Another new survivor pool to
- 53:43Speaker 1: get into. But Austin, congrats on your victory.
- 53:46Speaker 3: It feels sad. I really thought I thought I was
- 53:48Speaker 3: gonna make it the whole way. I thought this week
- 53:50Speaker 3: was gonna be a lock, and then I had all
- 53:52Speaker 3: the top twenty five teams.
- 53:54Speaker 4: I think it'd be fun to go back and do
- 53:56Speaker 4: it again. And the approaches we you know, you change it.
- 53:58Speaker 4: I think it's good.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Four teams is pretty I mean, that's challenging enough to
- 54:01Speaker 1: get through a whole year. And I would say myself
- 54:04Speaker 1: included in Austin maybe too. We got a little conservative
- 54:07Speaker 1: on some of our picks, but I wouldn't even call
- 54:10Speaker 1: your pick conservative this week.
- 54:11Speaker 3: That was just it was a favorite.
- 54:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Your president for winning is you get to watch You
- 54:19Speaker 5: get to watch Ohio State, Nebraska.
- 54:21Speaker 4: There you go, Dak you went what was it for?
- 54:26Speaker 4: And six? Last week?
- 54:27Speaker 5: Four and six not great.
- 54:31Speaker 2: I've officially cut you from my betting locks or my
- 54:34Speaker 2: betting picks every week. It's I think it's first time
- 54:36Speaker 2: on podcasts. I've not add him on the list.
- 54:39Speaker 4: I would agree in like two years.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Speaking of coach, to get fired, get vendimals out of there.
- 54:43Speaker 2: He can't long start. We can talk about that another day.
- 54:46Speaker 2: He can't get fired. Sad sadly, but.
- 54:49Speaker 4: All right, give us your picks this week. All right.
- 54:55Speaker 4: You can give a little explanation too with him if
- 54:56Speaker 4: you want.
- 54:57Speaker 2: See, I forgot right down the ponds. But all if
- 55:01Speaker 2: I start ramblants because I'm trying to look up who they.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Just hey, slow down, tell me your pick. I have
- 55:06Speaker 1: a lot of games right now. I'll see if I
- 55:07Speaker 1: get you up on them. But slow down, you don't
- 55:09Speaker 1: bespeed it. Well, there's no timer on this.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Okay.
- 55:13Speaker 2: First off, you un w B plus three and a
- 55:15Speaker 2: half agins boy of the state. This this might be
- 55:18Speaker 2: the game of the week if basically for Whinner this
- 55:24Speaker 2: is most.
- 55:24Speaker 5: Likely is gonna make the playoff. It's at un LV
- 55:27Speaker 5: I like their backup quarterback. They have the first one
- 55:30Speaker 5: actually quit.
- 55:32Speaker 2: So give me a UNLB plus three and a half
- 55:34Speaker 2: at home excellent ruckers plus thing the thirteen halfkins USC
- 55:37Speaker 2: you have s sucks, and you know you guys are
- 55:41Speaker 2: talking about prediction. Man, the podcast coming true. There's one
- 55:44Speaker 2: time I'm gonna come to here prettycently. Cris Canna get
- 55:47Speaker 2: fired nexcellent, maybe plus thirteen against our name.
- 55:51Speaker 4: You're still going through it like one hundred miles an hour,
- 55:54Speaker 4: but hey keep hoping.
- 56:00Speaker 2: If he plus thirteen against Third Dame, Guys, Davy's really good.
- 56:04Speaker 5: I say that again. I watched a second of them, but.
- 56:09Speaker 2: But I don't think No Dame's that good. I have
- 56:12Speaker 2: watched some of them, and I think it's a it's
- 56:16Speaker 2: at Navy.
- 56:17Speaker 5: They're gonna cover that. They'll actually win that game.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Indiana minus six and a half against Washington game days
- 56:25Speaker 2: going there, I ho sprise. Washington's not better where Rogers
- 56:29Speaker 2: I thought it was a really good quarterback. What I
- 56:31Speaker 2: rank in Big Ten?
- 56:32Speaker 5: Top five? Maybe two?
- 56:34Speaker 2: Anyway, when I stopped at the last week, I think
- 56:38Speaker 2: they're for real. Illinois plus twenty one and a half
- 56:41Speaker 2: against Oregon. I think ILLINOI is actually really good. I'm
- 56:45Speaker 2: surprised just twenty one and a half. Again, Organ's a
- 56:47Speaker 2: top I think number one, Yeah they are number one, Okay,
- 56:53Speaker 2: I get the number one, But I think Illinois a
- 56:58Speaker 2: top twenty team in nation, Missouri or well, there's a
- 57:05Speaker 2: lot of misleading rankings out there. Minnesota mines four against Maryland.
- 57:12Speaker 2: I don't think Minnesota's gonna be get it out all
- 57:13Speaker 2: this year. PJ Flex actually turned them around and they're
- 57:15Speaker 2: a decent football team. Their quarterbacks playing better.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Now.
- 57:19Speaker 2: I don't know how good Maryland is. They beat USC
- 57:21Speaker 2: couldn't tell you about them. Next one, Missouri. It's plus
- 57:26Speaker 2: sixteen half megas Alabama. I think Alabama's awful, okay, now awful.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Their defense is awful. Their defense is really bad. And
- 57:35Speaker 2: Missouri has not been as good as I thought they
- 57:37Speaker 2: were gonna be.
- 57:37Speaker 4: I think.
- 57:40Speaker 5: I think Missouri actually wins that game too.
- 57:44Speaker 3: Oh.
- 57:44Speaker 4: Next one.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, Navy was my lock of the week.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Plus thirteen Vandy plus eighteen and a half. I have
- 57:52Speaker 2: zero clue what they're playing. Texas well, okay, explain yourself,
- 58:02Speaker 2: not explain there. Miami minus twenty one. I don't know
- 58:05Speaker 2: who they're playing. I think somebody ah.
- 58:07Speaker 5: Florist State or the state that explains off to Florist
- 58:10Speaker 5: State is terrible. Okay. There was a question today, do
- 58:13Speaker 5: you guys fire Mike novel norvel. No, I don't think
- 58:19Speaker 5: you do either.
- 58:19Speaker 3: But you can't give me one year. You have to
- 58:23Speaker 3: be at least two years removed from being six. And
- 58:25Speaker 3: oh he can be fired mitzi'son next year. You can't
- 58:28Speaker 3: fire him a year after.
- 58:29Speaker 5: I agree with that, but he wasn't good before that
- 58:32Speaker 5: year either.
- 58:32Speaker 4: I don't know. I think he will get fired though,
- 58:37Speaker 4: you think he will yep after this year yep.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Also, in case you guys were wondering, the Bulls Pelicans
- 58:47Speaker 3: NBA game eighty one to eighty Oh yeah.
- 58:52Speaker 6: We're back baby, and then yeah, I guess last NBA
- 58:58Speaker 6: note which out for those Blazers baby, the Aano band
- 59:00Speaker 6: and Pryce McGowan new back court.
- 59:04Speaker 5: I love, I love band.
- 59:07Speaker 3: I do too.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Did you have any other stackers at it?
- 59:12Speaker 5: Oh? Yeah, one more Wisconsin. See that's what I was
- 59:16Speaker 5: gonna say.
- 59:16Speaker 2: I don't know who they played plus six and a
- 59:17Speaker 2: Halfscompas's actionally been playing really good of late st Penn State.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I don't think Penn State's very you know. That's another one.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Another winner outright. But I got Wisconsin winning out right,
- 59:31Speaker 2: Davy wing out right, you and b winning out right,
- 59:34Speaker 2: Missouri winning out right.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Four dogs Hey, throw five dollars on that and let
- 59:39Speaker 1: the money ride.
- 59:40Speaker 3: You should.
- 59:41Speaker 5: That's a good idea.
- 59:41Speaker 2: That's that'd be good. Probably right there. I don't honestly
- 59:45Speaker 2: in Rutgers. The Rutgers in there too, I think they
- 59:47Speaker 2: could beat USC. USC's not very good and.
- 59:53Speaker 3: You win that that you you you're buying first round
- 59:57Speaker 3: at the Return Glory Podcast holiday party.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: You think I think Scott pators, Marcus Addlefield sucks, Lincoln
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Riley really sucks.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: I would take Lincoln Riley in a heartbeat.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: As your o C.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh yeah, Now the head coach, now.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Was he good at Oklahoma?
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: Just kidding?
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: I would take him back in a second.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: All yeah, all right, Well, good luck Oscars this week.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: Let's win the game. Oh it matters right back Sunday
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: go be gread CBR
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: Gold Go Viking Tomorrow night
