- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Now, another thing that I just want to briefly mention before I dive into um today's episode is that I have launched finally my brand new private Facebook group called Online Courses with Karen.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: So if you are a budding course creator or perhaps you are creating your course but you need a little bit of help, then I want you to join me over in Facebook in my private Facebook group because this is where I'm hanging out and this is where I'm going to give so much value.

- 4:37SPEAKER_00: So come over, join me, be a part of the community, and let's have some fun building out our courses.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's get started with today's episode.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And as I said, today's episode is all about visibility, and for the next few weeks, I'm actually going to be creating a visibility series.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to be focusing heavily on how to become visible in your business, how to become visible online, because I work with clients all the time, and this is something that comes up over and over again.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: The whole idea of marketing and how to reach your audiences and to get your message in front of the right people, and it can be really overwhelming, especially if you are not in the marketing world, if you're an entrepreneur, business owner, you're a coach, creative, whatever it is you do, and your world is not marketing.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: So, what I want to do is break this down for you so that hopefully it makes more sense and you can take intentional steps to start increasing your visibility.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to be sharing seven tips to help you increase your visibility online.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Now, it doesn't matter what kind of business you have, really, if you are looking to either create an online business, sell products online, or even promote your business, then it's vital that you focus on creating a strong online presence.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: In today's world, there's no getting away from it.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: If you want to reach audiences online, you need to create a presence.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Now, since the pandemic, the truth is that people's buying habits have changed, and the digital world has become more integral in people's everyday lives.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So many more people are going online, they're seeking out what it is that they want to buy, what it is they're interested in, and they are connecting online now.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And so if you are not online or have some online presence, then the truth is you're going to miss out, and your business will most likely come to a standstill at some point.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So you really do need to be thinking at least on how you're going to develop an online presence so that you can reach online audiences.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Now, standing out and being seen online can be really difficult because there is so much noise.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: So, how do you create a presence that is so strong and so viable that you stand out in amongst all the competition?
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Because the online space is so saturated now.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: It's whilst the since the pandemic, especially the digital space is now booming, there is so many businesses now that actually operate within the online space.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: And so if we want to capture the attention of our ideal audience, then we have to build a solid online presence, which is why in today's episode, this is what I want to talk about, and I want to look at ways in which you can start building your visibility online so that you can reach audiences that are engaged with you and interested in what you have to say and in what you have to offer.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: In order to really establish yourself and your business in your field and become that go-to expert, which as course creators, we do need to do.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: So there are some things that we need to get right in order for it to really work for us.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: By working through each of those things, you can have the potential to skyrocket your business.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Creating a presence online can actually be so powerful for your business, it can help take your business to that next level.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Now, it doesn't matter if you're creating an online course or you're selling a service or you're running a program, you can create the most brilliant course, the most brilliant service, the most brilliant program.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: However, if people don't know you exist or it exists, then you're not going to make any sales.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: So it's really important that you spend time focusing on how you're going to build that visibility.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Now, when it comes to marketing your business, of course, it can feel really daunting because marketing can be really confusing and it's such a big area, and often people don't know where to start.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Because you know, when we think about marketing, there are so many activities that fall underneath that sphere.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: How on earth do you know where to get to where do you start?
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: But the reality is that when it comes to marketing, there's a lot of different variables that need to be taken into account, such as knowing the type of business you have, your idle audience, their specific challenges, the services and the offers that you provide, and of course where you shows up, where your audience shows up, etc.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: So there's not one rule to fit everybody.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: You can't use a cookie-cutter approach to marketing because of all the different variables.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: So we need to get really clear on what our business is, what our business does, who we want to work with, what we want to offer, and how we want to show up.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: And we need to get really clear about our message.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: And when we have those in place, then it becomes easier to know what marketing to adopt to your business.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: You know, there are so many businesses, business books out there on the market, and they will tell you more or less how to create a successful business.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: But the truth is, what might work for one person might not necessarily work for someone else.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And so, whilst the principles may guide you forward, there is still an element of unknown because there's no guarantee that what will work for for one person will equally work for you, and that's exactly the same when it comes to marketing.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: And so it's really important to equally adopt a mindset where you are prepared to trial things, to give things a go, to see if they work, to see you know the messaging that you have, to put it out and see how that does, to try different approaches and see what results you generate from that.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Now, one of the things that I will say before you do any type of marketing, and before you spend time building your visibility online, is getting the foundations in place first.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Now, what I mean by this is we need to can really connect with what our business does and what our brand is about before we can really invest in marketing.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: So understand what your purpose is, know your vision, define your mission, what are your core values, and who do you want to work with?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Now, by getting all of these components in place first, it will really help you when it comes to you investing in your marketing to help you to become visible.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's talk about what visibility actually means.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Now, visibility is about making sure that your business is seen by the right people at the right time, and those people are interested in what you have to say and what you have to offer so that you can build an audience that is engaged and interested in you.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: And how we do this, of course, is through using marketing.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Now, you don't have to have a big budget when it comes to marketing because it's not necessarily about the money that you have to spend.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: The thing that's really important, and the thing that that helps you to generate results is the planning.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Creating a strategic plan is what is important, and then executing it on a consistent basis, it's what is what's going to generate you results.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to share with you seven tips to help you increase your visibility online and grow your business.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's start with tip one: defining your brand.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Now, it's really important for you to define what your brand means before you show up online.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: You want to understand what makes your business unique, what sets you apart from your competition, and what your business stands for.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: And this involves identifying your target audience and creating a really strong and compelling visual identity that communicates exactly what your business is, what it does, and what you're about.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: You also need to establish a clear message that is going to communicate the value of what you offer to your customers.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: So by defining your brand at the very beginning, everything that you create thereafter will support your brand and it will help to communicate exactly what your business is about.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, so my second tip is about creating a strategic plan.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Now, this is important because this is going to help you get to that end destination.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: So you want to have a goal.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: So the goal is to increase your visibility, but you equally need to understand why you're wanting to increase your visibility, what is that for?
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And then once you establish what that goal is, then you can create a strategic marketing plan that's going to help you to get there.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Now, as part of this marketing plan, you're going to include your target audience because it's really important that you know exactly who it is you want to work with.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: So you need to define your target audience.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: So who are they?
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: What are their needs, and what challenges are they experiencing?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Now, by answering this, this will give you a really good indication as to your value proposition.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: So, what you can do for those customers and why they need to work with you.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: As I mentioned, you need to set goals, you need to understand what it is you're looking to achieve from your marketing efforts.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: So, if it's to increase leads to your website or to you know increase pro um prospects that who could convert into paying customers, you need to really define what that looks like.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: So setting goals is essential.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Now, when it comes to creating a street strategic marketing plan, you need to decide on the right channels to be visible on.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Because by identifying who your ideal customer is, you'll then be able to work out where it is they hang out online.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Now, you don't want to be showing up in places where your ideal customer is not showing up.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: You want to get really strategic as to where you show up on social media because you want to be connecting with the right audience.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: So you need to understand where your target audience spends their time online.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Now, you also need to think about developing a content strategy because content helps us to communicate and connect with our audience.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: So that also needs to be included in your plan.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, you need to look at whether you have a budget to invest in your marketing.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: So this is about looking at whether you will be spending on paid advertising like Facebook ads or Google Ads, or whether you'll just be spending your time creating content to share online.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: So it when it comes to a budget, also think about the time element as well as the cost.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, you want to identify how you're going to monitor your results, you know, because that's where you're going to make decisions around whether you're going to need to adjust your strategy or keep it as is.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: So that's where you're going to see whether what you do is working or not.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Now, just by doing these simple steps, you can create a really powerful and strategic marketing plan that's going to help you increase it, increase your visibility online and reach your target audience effectively.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Okay, so my third tip is about developing compelling content online because this is what's really going to help you build your visibility.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Now you need to understand your audience first and foremost.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: You need to know what your target audience is interested in and what kind of content they're going to respond to.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: Now, by knowing this, you can then develop really compelling content that connects with your audience.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Now, the content you create needs to be informative, it needs to serve a purpose, so it needs to offer a tremendous amount of value that's really going to support your audience and what they need.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Now, you can do this in many ways that is going to be engaging, but ultimately your content needs to connect.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Now, another thing when you're creating compelling content is that you need to be consistent with your publishing schedule.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So, what I mean by that is that creating content once and only once is not going to move the needle.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: However, if you create content on a regular basis and you show up and you provide valuable information that's going to help your audience to move forward, then it's going to be you that stands out and that's going to be remembered.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: And that's going to help you to build your visibility.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: So being consistent when it comes to content marketing is paramount because that's what's going to make a difference.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: Now, just something else to bear in mind when you're creating content is that you're going to be using keywords in the content that you're creating.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Now, these keywords are what is going to help you be found.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: So you need to make sure that you are writing content for your audience, but you're optimizing your content for search as well.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: So you need to be really mindful of the keywords that you're including in your content.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: Now, I wouldn't want you to write content for search engines, but I would just encourage you to be really conscious about the words that you're using in your content so that you're using words that are searchable.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: So think about your topic, think about what your audience is struggling with, think about what your audience is interested in.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: In and then consider the keywords that are going to be used around those, and that will help you to build your visibility because those keywords are going to be what helps you to get found online.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, so tip four is leveraging social media.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: Now, social media is a powerful tool for increasing your visibility online.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: We have so many platforms at our fingertips that we can use to enhance our visibility.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Now, first and foremost, as I've said previously, you need to understand exactly who your ideal audience are because they're not going to show up everywhere online.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: And so you need to make sure that when you're using social media, you are showing up on the right platforms.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: So you're going to need to identify which social media platforms your target audience is most active on, and then focus solely on those platforms.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Now, when you're on social media, a great way to really build visibility is by engaging with your audience.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Remember, social media is all about being social, it's not about broadcasting your message and then standing back and not doing anything else.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: You need to get out there and you need to get engaging with your audience.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: What I mean by that is it's about responding to comments and messages and being an active participant in relevant online communities.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: So you need to spend the time building up your presence online and becoming that go-to person simply by being consistent, being available, and being intentional with the way you use your platforms.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: Now, another great way to leverage social media is by using hashtags, developing a hashtag strategy that's going to help you to be seen.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: So, for example, if your main platform is Instagram, because your audience are on Instagram, then it's about thinking about your hashtag strategy and the hashtags that are being used with your ideal audience.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: So it may mean that you need to do a bit of research about around this, but you want your content to get discovered by the right people who are interested in your topic, and hashtags are a really great way to get discovered.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So, something else just to consider if you're looking to leverage social media to build your visibility is running paid ads.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: So paid advertising is a great way to build your audience, to widen your audience, and to get more eyeballs on your content.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: Now it's not for everyone, but it is an option and it's there to help you increase your visibility.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Now, the great thing about leveraging social media and doing it effectively is that you can build your brand online, you can engage it with your audience, and of course, you can increase your visibility as well.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: So, tip number five is optimizing your website because your website is a marketing tool and you have created it so that you can be found online, and so you just need to make sure that your website is being presented in a way that works on the search engines, meaning that it needs to have a really good SEO strategy behind it.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Now, what SEO is it's search engine optimization, and what that means is that the content that sits within your website needs to include relevant keywords that are searchable online, so it's making sure that your content provides a high level of value, and that within that content you're using the relevant keywords that you can be discovered by.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: So it's just making sure that you have the right content in place at the right time.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Now, another thing when it comes to your website is to really think about the design of your website.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: You need to make sure that you've got a responsive design, which means that your website can is is mobile friendly, it can be viewed on a on a mobile, on an iPad, on a desktop, and it looks great across all of the devices.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: Now, another thing to also consider when it comes to your website are your call to action buttons.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Now, you want to be encouraging visitors to take action by including clear call to action buttons throughout your site.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: So whether that's book an appointment with me, download a piece of content, or um email me at whatever your email address is.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: You want to tell your visitors what they need to do, don't leave it for them to guess because they won't do anything.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: So make sure you've got clear call-to actions within your site.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: And then also make sure that you've got Google Analytics set up as well so that you can track your site's performance because this way you can identify any areas that may need improvement.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, so my sixth tip is all about networking online because this is a great way to meet new people and to build relationships.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: So think about joining some online communities, join some groups and forums that are related to your industry so that you can participate in discussions.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: Also, think about attending virtual events.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: So look for webinars, conferences, and other virtual events that are relevant.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: Also, by doing this, you're going to meet other people that you can um connect with and build online relationships with, and then connect with the people that you meet through social media so you can connect with other professionals using platforms like LinkedIn, and then that's a great way to help them to see your content and to develop your network of people.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Now, by networking online, you can start to expand your reach and start building valuable relationships with other like-minded professionals, and that's going to help you build your visibility online.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, so my seventh and final tip is all about collaborating with partners who share similar audiences to you because this is another great way to increase your visibility online.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: So think about the people that you know in your network who create content to an audience similar to yours?
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Could they perhaps guess post on your blog?
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Or could you guess post on their blog?
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: Could you collaborate by creating other content such as ebooks, maybe deliver a webinar together, or even develop a podcast episode?
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Can you promote each other and share each other's content online or in your newsletters?
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: Now, the great thing about doing this is that you get to tap into their audience and they get to tap into your audience as well.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: But because your audiences are so similar, it means that you get to in widen your reach and increase your visibility.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: So think about who you have in your network and can you partner up with them?
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Can you cross-promote your products?
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: So maybe a discount could be offered on your partner's product to your audience, and vice versa.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Because by leveraging each other's audiences, you're just simply increasing your visibility and you're widening your reach.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Now, by collaborating with other partners, as I said, you get to tap into their audience and you get to expand your reach online, which is going to increase your visibility.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Now, there's no two ways about it.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Building visibility online is crucial because it's what's going to help you to stand out and be noticed in a crowded digital space.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Without visibility, even the best business idea or offer will go unnoticed, making it really difficult to grow and connect with your target audience.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Now, by building a strong online presence and creating a really strategic plan, you can increase your visibility and you can widen your customer base.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: Yes, building long-lasting visibility takes time and effort, but it is essential for establishing yourself as an expert in your field and growing your business.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, so before I finish today's episode, I just want to remind you to book your place on my free workshop called Kickstart Your Online Course, which is taking place on Wednesday, the 24th of May at 5 pm UK time.
