  Like what's going on in our lives? Like what's what are we doing?

  I'm going to school and everything like that and like going to basketball practice like that stuff

  I don't know what you do. So you're a typical teenager. You have school you got church you have basketball practice

  We have a

  Busy week we have practice two days a week. And so I actually am Gia's basketball coach
• 0:48
  How is it having a basketball coach for a mom? I'm frustrating
• 0:54
  Why?
• 0:56
  Because you pick on me
• 0:58
  Yeah, do you?

  You think that happens often to coaches kids they get picked on yeah in practice
• 1:06
  yeah, do you think it's you try to push the line of

  How far you can get in practice

  Think that you give me 110%

  Do you think that you?

  Do that you give me the same effort. Yeah. Yeah

  Okay, so maybe my expectations are just different

  Of me. Yeah, I just mean here's your mind

  And I can't pick on other people's kids

  I just maybe have different expectations

  For you because I know your potential

  So I've seen us practice in the driveway for hours and hours and hours

  I know and to see like how much you've improved

  Over just the summer as much as you've practiced. So I think I just expect more on the court from you

  So have you been doing?

  Work teach

  Sunday school
• 2:26
  and so I get to teach youth at our local church City Hope and I
• 2:32
  Work out I work

  Repeat repeat Monday through

  Yeah, but I love it I love what I do I mean I don't go to work I get to go hang out with 30 people a day

  I get to make people feel better. I get to spread the gospel

  I get to work out two to three times a day now since we get to add that
• 2:56
  Practice in on Tuesdays and Thursdays and so I get to add that third practice in for me
• 3:01
  So I just another chance for me to work out and run with you guys and sweat and I love it
• 3:08
  Come home and be mom and wife and
• 3:13
  Repeat it the next day. So I love it. I just I don't know. So what are we talking about today mom?

  Um, I think we were talking about integrity
• 3:23
  because as we are faced with a lot of
• 3:27
  Things in that's going on in society and you know, just I think that integrity is a pretty important topic
• 3:35
  What is integrity to you?
• 3:38
  It's amazing basically practicing what you preach and everything like that like doing what you say like to other people what?
• 3:46
  Like I have to do basically
• 3:49
  So why would it be important to have integrity from a youth standpoint?
• 3:53
  So like all of us can do like the same thing and sadly saying
• 3:58
  Hey, you should come to church and then they go to church and you're not there and then they kind of feel like oh
• 4:05
  Since Gia's not going to church. I don't have to go to church. So yeah, I do
• 4:12
  Whenever someone like I tell people I invite people to church every day and
• 4:17
  Then they they come and I'm at the door. I'm greeting him and I hug him. They're like, I well
• 4:23
  I didn't know if you were actually gonna be here
• 4:27
  Like why would I tell you to come if I'm not gonna be here like and having
• 4:32
  integrity like
• 4:34
  Doing what you say you're gonna do
• 4:36
  Why would that be important?
• 4:39
  Because it's like good for practicing
• 4:41
  Like practicing on what to do
• 4:47
  Do you feel like that is an important like
• 4:50
  Attribute to having a friend is to have someone that has like integrity
• 4:54
  Yeah, I feel like that'll be
• 4:58
  Would you want to hang out with somebody that doesn't have integrity

  Not really cuz if they tell you something but they don't do it
• 5:06
  It's kind of like
• 5:08
  awkward I feel like I'd be
• 5:12
  Do we feel like Jesus had integrity? Yeah
• 5:15
  He was basically the perfect like thing for integrity. Yeah, so he was
• 5:21
  The perfect model of integrity
• 5:23
  Even if we go into like the temptations in wilderness like he he chose God's will over his own personal gain
• 5:30
  And so I think that whenever we are in the same place
• 5:34
  I think that's the best thing to do is to have integrity
• 5:38
  Because I think that's the best thing to do is to have integrity

  And so I think that whenever we are
• 5:45
  having
• 5:47
  Moments even behind closed doors. Is it important to have integrity? Yeah, it is why
• 5:55
  Because like there's someone always watching you even though you don't think there is
• 6:00
  Integrity outside the door. I think that whenever you know, you're doing
• 6:06
  The right thing whenever you feel like no one's watching
• 6:10
  Who's watching God? Yes, and if you're doing things behind closed doors, I think that's practice
• 6:18
  For whenever people are watching and what is he doing to us as we are doing the right thing?
• 6:26
  when
• 6:27
  The public is not watching he's growing
• 6:31
  Character in us. He's growing that foundation
• 6:35
  In us and I think that we can even turn to scripture
• 6:39
  What are some scriptures that talk about integrity? Um
• 6:44
  Proverbs 11 3 I have down it's the integrity of the upright guide them
• 6:50
  But the unfaithful are destroyed by their
• 6:53
  Duplicity the plus ID and
• 6:56
  Even in job. I mean look at him. I mean he was in the midst of horrible things and
• 7:02
  He just had trial after trial and he remained
• 7:07
  To have integrity and it even says in Job 2 3 it says God refers to Job as a man of integrity in the midst of his trials
• 7:16
  And then you have you know, the book of wisdom you have Psalms and it has 25 21
• 7:21
  It says may integrity and uprightness protect me because my hope my lord is in you
• 7:30
  and so
• 7:31
  living with integrity
• 7:33
  Protects us and builds a foundation of trust in relationships with others
• 7:39
  and with God
• 7:41
  Because we are trying to emulate who who are we trying to be reflective reflection of?
• 7:46
  Jesus and God and so we're are we ever gonna match what Jesus is never
• 7:54
  Are we ever gonna be perfect? No, no, we miss the mark every day
• 7:58
  But we can have like some practical tips
• 8:02
  To be more Christ like every day, right? Yeah
• 8:06
  What are some areas? What are some tips that people can do?
• 8:09
  Be honest in all areas. Um
• 8:13
  Follow through on like promises and like
• 8:17
  Um confess when you fall short, I feel like are real big ones
• 8:22
  And I mean even just you speak the truth in love and so you have Ephesians 4 15
• 8:28
  Whenever it's in a personal relationship work or whenever no one is watching
• 8:33
  You're honest because there is there any point in lying?
• 8:37
  No, no
• 8:39
  And then you following through with your promises is that important to kids? Yeah
• 8:44
  Why would that be important?
• 8:47
  Because following through like with our promises like build our friendships
• 8:51
  Do you think it's important for adults to keep?
• 8:54
  Their promises to their kids. Oh, yeah for sure. Why?
• 8:58
  Because if they're not um, keeping promises, why should we keep our promises?
• 9:03
  And because integrity means that you're reliable that you're trustworthy because if you break a promise you say that you're going to be somewhere or do something
• 9:13
  Then you do it
• 9:14
  Like you don't like you say, okay, i'm gonna go to that party on friday
• 9:18
  And then you're like friday comes man, man, you're tired
• 9:21
  And like you have you got a busy day on saturday. And so you have all these excuses not to go and then you don't go
• 9:27
  How does that?
• 9:28
  What does that kind of make you feel like you're not going to go?
• 9:30
  How does that what does that kind of what's that?
• 9:34
  How does that help that relationship or hurt that relationship with that friend?
• 9:39
  Because
• 9:40
  If you don't show up to their party, it's like
• 9:44
  They're waiting for you to come but then you don't just show up
• 9:48
  But also too you said that you were going to come
• 9:51
  Oh, yeah
• 9:52
  And so I mean as a house rule here the fosters if you say you're going to do something
• 9:57
  You have to do it. You have to do it. Absolutely

  And that way you don't over commit and you don't do
• 10:04
  Things that you say that you're going to do

  so

  It's about
• 10:10
  You do what you say you're going to do

  What are some other things that people can do um to live

  A life with integrity
• 10:24
  What do you mean and so like living consistently?

  Um, how can you how can you build integrity and impact the lives?

  Of people around you
• 10:35
  um
• 10:37
  integrity
• 10:38
  Like how to build it with people and like strengthens your relationships with people or everything like that
• 10:45
  Integrity strengthens your relationship with god too
• 10:49
  Uh when we live with integrity
• 10:51
  We reflect him right? Yeah, and what else does integrity do?

  What about non-believers how does how would integrity affect them
• 11:13
  Because
• 11:15
  Like when others are like
• 11:17
  Living a christian life and everything like that. They see that and they want to do it probably too
• 11:23
  That we live authentically
• 11:25
  That we can't practice like love jesus
• 11:29
  And then not act like what what scripture says
• 11:33
  I mean, so I think that's why a lot of people they don't go to church
• 11:37
  I think that's why a lot of non-believers. They have a lot of negative things to say
• 11:42
  about
• 11:44
  Christianity and
• 11:46
  Christianity and the followers
• 11:48
  And are we ever going to be perfect? No, are we walking and trying to be better every day?
• 11:54
  Yes, but churches are filled with what?
• 11:58
  Broken people people that don't we don't have it all figured out and where are we supposed to go the church is a hospital for
• 12:07
  the spiritually sick
• 12:09
  Right. Yeah, I mean so
• 12:11
  So while we don't have it all figured out we're trying to walk in that integrity
• 12:17
  And so I think it's important for us
• 12:20
  To have that integrity and to walk
• 12:24
  The best that we can and ask god to help us
• 12:28
  In in real life
• 12:32
  How can youth and how could they take this integrity
• 12:36
  To their real life to school to school
• 12:42
  Um by like
• 12:46
  Like
• 12:48
  Saying to like their friends like preaching to them about it and then like showing off how good they can be
• 12:55
  And that we're boasting not that we are being prideful but just taking
• 13:01
  Some in in relationships being truthful being transparent
• 13:05
  Um in everyday choices returning money or items that don't belong to you
• 13:11
  Like if you find five dollars, do you take it or do you turn it into the office?
• 13:15
  um turn it into the office
• 13:18
  if you had you know a
• 13:22
  Chance to cheat on a test
• 13:26
  And the teacher wasn't watching do you cheat? No
• 13:30
  Why?
• 13:32
  Why would I need to cheat? I studied
• 13:36
  But that's also integrity
• 13:38
  That's doing what was right when no one watched
• 13:42
  Or you know a chance to make fun of somebody
• 13:45
  But we don't do that as christians
• 13:48
  Right
• 13:50
  No, because we're not here to judge people
• 13:52
  right
• 13:53
  And so but doing that when no one's watching
• 13:57
  And so I think that's some valid
• 13:59
  Take homes
• 14:02
  And so even just for adults I think that it's so important for us to live integrous lives
• 14:08
  So our kids can see it in real action our kids can see how we
• 14:13
  Do what we say that we're going to do we keep our promises
• 14:17
  but we also
• 14:18
  We do with what we we were telling them and so I think it's really important that we practice what we are
• 14:26
  quote-unquote preaching
• 14:28
  And and that way they can really see us live out the life
• 14:32
  And so we say not don't be hateful use kind words and so therefore we need to not be hateful. We need to use kind words
• 14:39
  and so
• 14:41
  I think that we should maybe end the podcast with that and maybe ask them to challenge listeners to take practical steps
• 14:50
  into living an integrous life this week and and just to walk through
• 14:55
  And and use encouraging words posted on social media posted on you know
• 15:01
  Tick-tock and use the hashtag fostering faith

  Podcast and that way we can see what you guys are doing

  Wherever they go where they practice what they preach and they just showed you just throughout their whole life
