Transcript
- 0:00They're two girly pops, they can't possibly be attracted to
- 0:03each other. Welcome back, my dear Gaspers to
- 0:16Gasp, the pod, the podcast for the gays, the girls, and
- 0:20especially the gay girls. Per usual, we're talking about
- 0:23some gay girls, and today we're going to be talking about
- 0:26Victorious Sapphic Little Secret, AKA the theory that
- 0:32Victoria's Secret, the lingerie company, is extremely lesbian
- 0:37and I feel like no ones talking about it.
- 0:40Victoria has a little secret, you guys.
- 0:43She's a Sapphic. For five decades, Victoria's
- 0:46Secret has set the standard for beauty and sexuality in popular
- 0:50culture, and that standard is obviously mostly white, skinny
- 0:54and straight. The brand has held the role of
- 0:57the arbiters of sexuality, or rather the fantasy of female
- 1:01sexuality, showing girls and women what they should look like
- 1:05to be deemed sexy by the male gaze.
- 1:07Victoria's Secret, although a women's lingerie brand,
- 1:10ultimately reflects our patriarchal and heterosexual
- 1:13society's ideas of what desirability looks like.
- 1:17Can you tell that I majored in gender studies?
- 1:20Because it's giving thesis, right?
- 1:23At first look, Victoria's Secret seems like a company for
- 1:26straights by straights. But with a closer look, with
- 1:29this sapphic look, we can see the Secret held so dearly by
- 1:33Victoria herself. She's a sapphic.
- 1:37This episode we're unearthing that secret and diving into the
- 1:40camouflaged lesbian subtext of the brand of Victoria's Secret,
- 1:45the hyper femme angels and the VS cruising culture that is
- 1:50hidden in plain sight. So Victoria's Secret is actually
- 1:53named after Queen Victoria, apparently to evoke the
- 1:57refinement and respectability of the Victorian era.
- 2:01And I guess, like, the reason why Secret is put in this name
- 2:04is to like, allude to the hidden like sexuality and lingerie
- 2:09behind Victoria. But I also feel like it's super
- 2:13ironic the fact that it's called Victoria's Secret.
- 2:16And you know, this brand is this like straight brand all about
- 2:22like what men like find sexy. Meanwhile, it's filled with so
- 2:28much lesbianism. Let's talk about that.
- 2:32It's just super fucking ironic that the name of the brand is
- 2:34called Victoria's Secret. It's actually hilarious.
- 2:38So this episode I'm going to be talking about like 3 major
- 2:41categories. First, the Victoria's Secret
- 2:43fantasy and how it's actually like hyper femme queer culture.
- 2:47Then I'll be talking about specifically sapphic Victoria's
- 2:50Secret Angels and like rumored relationships between the angels
- 2:55because it's actually crazy. It this is pretty much like the
- 2:59modern sewing circle. And then I will talk about the
- 3:02Victoria's Secret Fashion show and that whole spectacle and how
- 3:06like it's pretty much like lesbian cruising that we all
- 3:09witness on TV, but like no one notices it because like of this
- 3:14context that we're supposed to think it's about men.
- 3:17Meanwhile, these girls look gay for each other and are gay for
- 3:20each other. Just like, housekeeping wise,
- 3:23this episode is not going to dig into like, homophobia, racism,
- 3:26sexism, fat phobia of the Victoria's Secret brand.
- 3:30Like, there are so many controversies for the Victoria's
- 3:32Secret brand. And like, the conversation of
- 3:34Victoria's Secret is, you know, expansive.
- 3:37And we can have a lot of conversations.
- 3:39But I didn't want to distract from, like, the main juice of
- 3:42the episode. And also, I'm going to be
- 3:45talking about, like, the hidden queerness of the brand.
- 3:49But I'm not like, trying to argue that Victoria's Secret is
- 3:53actually, like, super good for queer people.
- 3:56That's not my theory. If you go what I mean, I think
- 3:58you what I mean anyways, before we continue on my Patreon and I
- 4:02think at this point when I release this, it should also be
- 4:05on my Spotify as well. I have a bonus episode digging
- 4:08into the Easter eggs of the fate of Ophelia music video.
- 4:11I haven't actually made a video before this about the fate of
- 4:13Ophelia music video and really getting into like the theories
- 4:17about that video. So there's that for you if you
- 4:20want bonus content and also I'm going to be going live for the
- 4:24Taylor Swift like docu series. I think at least for the first
- 4:28episode, because I'm extremely excited and it comes out the
- 4:32night before her birthday. And so that's why I'm like
- 4:34something might be happening. Additionally, you've heard me
- 4:37say before, you'll hear me say it again.
- 4:39Go subscribe to my YouTube if you're listening on audio and
- 4:43rate me 5 stars guys. You know, like come on.
- 4:46OK, that's it, let's get into it.
- 4:48So the Victoria's Secret fantasy that we hear everyone talking
- 4:52about, the brand is like curating this fantasy and
- 4:57perfection of the woman form format, which is super ironic
- 5:01because the company mostly makes lingerie for women, not for men.
- 5:06The idea is almost in a weird backwards way to attract men to
- 5:11want to see their wives like that in order to buy presents
- 5:15for their wives. Even though the company again is
- 5:18mostly women's lingerie. I think that they did have at
- 5:22one point a collection for men and then like it went out of
- 5:24business or something. But like, it's not for men.
- 5:27So that's why it's so funny that they care about creating a
- 5:29fantasy for men because if anything, they should create a
- 5:31fantasy for women. Like they should want women to
- 5:35feel good about themselves. And when you feel good about
- 5:37yourself, you want to buy lingerie.
- 5:39So that's why the whole like idea of it is kind of like
- 5:42interesting, because it's not actually marketing anything
- 5:46really towards what women want. And again, there's a shift,
- 5:49there's been a shift the last few years in like terms of
- 5:52diversity and like body diversity, et cetera.
- 5:55But the general vibe of of Victoria's Secret is making
- 5:59women want to look good and be sexually attractive for men.
- 6:03When you watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, the idea is
- 6:06for you to say I want to look like her so that a man can think
- 6:11I'm as attractive as she is. That's the idea, right?
- 6:15Brand is a sexual fantasy, a straight fantasy and how men
- 6:19view women sexually. The aesthetic is like pink,
- 6:23sexual, flirty, seductive. That's kind of like the
- 6:27aesthetic of Victoria's Secret. It's not really supposed to make
- 6:30women feel super empowered And again, there's kind of been a
- 6:33shift, but like it's to look hot.
- 6:36It's not to feel like empowered. You know what I mean?
- 6:39People could argue that it is to feel empowered, but that's not
- 6:42really how they they branded Victoria's Secret, right?
- 6:45It's pillow fights, doing each other's makeup, etcetera.
- 6:49Like what men think girls sleepovers are like is what the
- 6:54Victoria's Secret runways are like, what the photo shoots are
- 6:57like, what the visuals are like, etcetera, right?
- 7:00And that's the fantasy. All of these beautiful, hot,
- 7:04skinny white women being perfect for men, but it doesn't actually
- 7:09really exist for men. What's ironic and funny about
- 7:12this is like, this is kind of what actual lesbian sleepover is
- 7:16like in Victoria's Secret ads. Like you can scroll through like
- 7:20decades of different ads, videos, like, you know,
- 7:24billboards, photo shoots, etcetera.
- 7:26And what's funny about it, because the whole idea of
- 7:30Victoria's Secret is like being attractive in terms of the male
- 7:33gaze, is that there's mostly just women there.
- 7:37There's not like a man around usually.
- 7:39It's usually a bunch of these models together touching each
- 7:42other, pressing each other, like looking at each other
- 7:45seductively. And this is supposed to be for
- 7:48men, which makes it so fucking queer.
- 7:50Like without the cultural context of knowing that
- 7:53Victoria's Secret is like supposed to be straight, right?
- 7:56Like it's like the epitome of straight sexuality and like what
- 8:00men find attractive in women, right?
- 8:03Or that's the idea without the cultural awareness of that and
- 8:07the context of like knowing that if you were like an alien that
- 8:13was sent down to earth and you saw these girls touching each
- 8:16other and like, or maybe like even ChatGPT and ChatGPT was
- 8:21told about lesbians. If you saw these ads, you would
- 8:26think this is a lesbian cult or this is a group of lesbian
- 8:31models because there's no men insight and they're just doing
- 8:35pillow fights and doing each other's makeup in these photo
- 8:38shoots. It's like Barbie's Dream House,
- 8:41but lesbian Victoria's Secret. And that's why it's so funny.
- 8:44Like inherently, Victoria's Secret is so sapphic and queer
- 8:50because there's rarely any men. It's like the experience of
- 8:53being a queer girl in high school where you're making out
- 8:56with your friends or college, you're making out with your
- 8:58girlfriends. And the idea is to like, you
- 9:00know, get men to think you're attractive, but actually you're
- 9:04just enjoying it. And you get to hide and be able
- 9:08to make out with girls without the homophobia that comes with
- 9:12that. Because men happen to be turned
- 9:14on by that. That's the irony of queerness in
- 9:17popular media, especially when it comes with femmes.
- 9:20Because you can hide in plain sight.
- 9:22Because men don't care about being homophobic if they are
- 9:25turned on, which is so dark. It's also like lesbian porn as
- 9:29well. And how like what is catered
- 9:32towards men in terms of like, being attractive for them is
- 9:36also inherently gay. And just because men are turned
- 9:40on by it doesn't mean it's not gay.
- 9:43And that's really the crucial thing here.
- 9:45Queer women also experience, like, lingerie brands,
- 9:47specifically Victoria's Secret, differently than straight girls.
- 9:50Like, you don't just want to feel hot, but also you have,
- 9:54like, a unique relationship with, like, stepping into
- 9:57Victoria's Secret store. Like, we hear this all the time
- 9:59about growing up. Queer girls have this experience
- 10:02where you're like, walking in the mall and you're trying not
- 10:05to make eye contact with the posters because it feels like
- 10:07you're going to get, like, caught by like, almost feeling
- 10:10like attracted. And that's what's so interesting
- 10:14about the Victoria's Secret experience for queer girls.
- 10:17It's a very different experience.
- 10:19It's not just about yourself. It's also feeling attracted to
- 10:23the idea of female sexuality that's branded for men, yet it
- 10:29traps up so many queer girls. And like, just because it's
- 10:32supposed to be straight doesn't mean it inherently is hot women
- 10:37together in lingerie will always be queer.
- 10:40Even if the idea and the marketability is for men, that
- 10:44doesn't strip away the fact that that's gay as hell.
- 10:47When women in bras are like touching each other in a photo
- 10:50shoot, like, I don't care, you know, it's gay.
- 10:54And the other thing is like, what does queer look like?
- 10:55I feel like that's another reason why we don't brand femmes
- 10:59or you know, feminine girly pop pink women that are scantily
- 11:04clad as queer. We see that for men, but what
- 11:09does queer look like? Queer doesn't actually have a
- 11:10look. However, there are subcultures
- 11:14within the LGBTQ community that is very represented in
- 11:17Victoria's Secret. For example, hyper femininity
- 11:20hype. Being hyper femme or being a
- 11:22femme in general. This is the definition of hyper
- 11:24femme. An exaggerated or intense
- 11:26expression of femininity, going beyond and conventional
- 11:28stereotypes to create a deliberately constructed and
- 11:31often stylized identity. This can include a strong focus
- 11:34on details and makeup, mannerisms, clothing often worn
- 11:37as an act of self-expression and defiance against the male gaze
- 11:40as seen in online communities and queer culture.
- 11:43And don't own femininity. We need to stop like giving them
- 11:46credit. Kind of like the American flag
- 11:48doesn't mean Trump right? Like America is inherently
- 11:51diversity. Like we can't let them own these
- 11:54things for us. Hyper fem pink, flirty vibes,
- 11:57right is not not necessarily straight.
- 11:59It's actually you could argue more queer because that's been a
- 12:05specific way of representation within the queer community.
- 12:09And I see this a lot of like, you know, femme, like lesbians
- 12:11are femme queer girls like talk about this online where like
- 12:15being with a girl and being gay sometimes feels like the most
- 12:18feminine thing you can do. I feel most girly pop like with
- 12:23my girlfriend. And that's why it's ironic when
- 12:25there's kind of an erasure of, like, them queers, at least in
- 12:29like, picking up who could be gay and who could not be gay
- 12:32because that feels so gay. Like, if femininity equals
- 12:36womanhood and two women are together, that is like hypermax
- 12:41womanhood, in my opinion. Like doing your girlfriend's
- 12:45makeup, like getting ready together, like slumber parties.
- 12:48The Victoria's Secret fantasy is a lesbian relationship.
- 12:52And again, it's just so funny that like in all these photo
- 12:55shoots, you know, besides sometimes when there's like male
- 12:58singers, the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, like all of this
- 13:02is for women at the end of the day.
- 13:04OK, let's talk about specific Victoria's Secret Fashion models
- 13:07that are gay or rumored to be queer in some way because it's
- 13:12actually a never ending list. And of course, a lot of these
- 13:15people, you know, might come out later, like there's people that
- 13:18are not even on this list that I was like in terms of time.
- 13:21I can't talk about it all. But if you guys want me to like
- 13:25do a deep dive into any of these, like, you know,
- 13:27relationships that occurred and you know what is alleged, let me
- 13:31know because there's kind of a lot here pretty much Victoria's
- 13:35Secret. Besides the fact that it's like
- 13:38gay because it's like hot women touching each other in bras and
- 13:42underwear on posters. Besides that fact and you know,
- 13:46the subculture of it and hyper femininity and all of that,
- 13:50there are so many VS angels and models that are actually out as
- 13:56queer that have all dated each other.
- 13:58And if you think about it, it kind of makes sense.
- 14:00And it's the perfect way if you were trying to not be explicitly
- 14:05out to hide that queerness because no one expects these
- 14:09Victoria's Secret angels to be gay because they're so fun,
- 14:12which is so ironic because they're around naked women all
- 14:15the time. It's like the perfect breeding
- 14:17ground. It's like a sorority.
- 14:19It's the homo social behavior of a sorority, yet more naked.
- 14:24And we're like, wait, they're gay.
- 14:26It's like, yes, guys. So started off, we're going to
- 14:29start with Carly Kloss. Carly Kloss obviously, as you
- 14:33guys know, has had a rumored off and on relationship with Taylor
- 14:37Swift and there have been other muses that she's been linked to
- 14:40as well that are women. You know, a lot of people think
- 14:43that she's in a bearded relationship with her husband
- 14:46and there's just so I mean, I can't get into all of the Kaylor
- 14:50stuff right now, but like Karlie Kloss is definitely part of
- 14:53this, right? Also for contacts, when I
- 14:55mention like the sewing circle, that is like an informal group
- 14:59that happened in Old Hollywood of these actresses that like
- 15:02kind of slept all together. So pretty much this whole group
- 15:06is like Taylor Swift's squad from like 2013 to like 2017,
- 15:12right? All of her friends that were
- 15:15like all gay and all Victoria's Secret models.
- 15:18It's hilarious. So Cara Delevingne, Cara
- 15:21Delevingne is known as like that girl that like if another
- 15:25celebrity is spotted with her alone or at dinner, it's their
- 15:28unofficial coming out because Cara Delevingne has gotten
- 15:32around and it's not even funny. Cara Delevingne is out as queer.
- 15:37She has been linked to, and I say linked to because it's not
- 15:39like confirmed that they dated, but like they kind of did
- 15:43though, like they pretty much did.
- 15:45And what is confirmed even mean in pop culture?
- 15:48She's been linked to Paris, Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora,
- 15:53Ashley Benson has been confirmed like they were in a long term
- 15:56relationship. She was also in a relationship
- 15:59with Saint Vincent. Cara Delevingne was also linked
- 16:02to Selena Gomez. There's a theory that they dated
- 16:05and also linked to Taylor Swift. There's a rumor that they, like,
- 16:08you know, had maybe a friendship benefits situation.
- 16:12And listen, if you're hanging with Cara Delevingne all the
- 16:14time and you're Taylor Swift and you're single and bisexual, it's
- 16:18not the craziest thing. Stella Maxwell.
- 16:20Stella Maxwell is one of my favorite BS models that I feel
- 16:23like no one talks about because she love her.
- 16:27She's so hot and she's just so unapologetically gay.
- 16:30She was never really ever in the closet.
- 16:33She just like started talking about the girls she dated in
- 16:36LGBTQ activism and never said like oh this is my exact
- 16:40identity. At least I didn't see that in my
- 16:43research. But she is openly LGBTQ and I
- 16:47think that's so important to remember when we talked about
- 16:50queerness and pop culture is that like way more people openly
- 16:54LGBTQ without saying their exact identity.
- 16:58When Stella Maxwell just started dating women, she's LGBTQ.
- 17:01That's her coming out. Like you in order to come out,
- 17:04you don't have to state like why and when you found out and like
- 17:07what your identity is, etcetera. I think she's a very good
- 17:10example of like a femme that just started dating girls,
- 17:14openly dating girls, and then was like, yeah, duh, I'm queer.
- 17:18Just like she's not talked about enough.
- 17:19But she's been linked to many, many VS Angels and other women
- 17:25in general. She's just like such an icon.
- 17:27She had a relationship with Kristen Stewart.
- 17:30Fucking iconic. She had a relationship with
- 17:32Miley Cyrus, which was extremely iconic.
- 17:35I'm going to put up this picture that, like, I think about all
- 17:38the time of them, like, next to Miley Cyrus's tour bus, like
- 17:41making out in a pop shot. She also has been linked to
- 17:47Barbara Pelvin, who was a model and now is a Victoria's Secret
- 17:51Angel. I'm pretty sure they've been
- 17:53linked to each other. So yeah, Like, guys, when you're
- 17:56hanging around all these hot lesbians having sleepovers with
- 18:00and, like, going out and on the job and like getting close with
- 18:03and working with all of these hot queer women, you're probably
- 18:07going to at least experiment. And that's what I really don't
- 18:11like about how we talk about queerness.
- 18:13We act like it's this binary that like you are straight and
- 18:16you have not ever been with a a person of the same sex or you
- 18:22are like gay and if you have not come out, that means you are in
- 18:25the closet. And if you are out, that means
- 18:27you are out and proud. It's like so many people are
- 18:31like, are in general queer and aren't making special little
- 18:35statements to you, the fans that are operatingly not like as
- 18:39closeted people, but just acting as they would in real life.
- 18:43And that's kind of what Victoria's Secret is like.
- 18:45It's not necessarily like intentionally hidden, but it's
- 18:49so easily hidden by the context of Victoria's Secret and the
- 18:55fact that it's like for the male gaze that no one thinks about
- 19:00these hot femmes touching each other because they don't view it
- 19:02as serious. And that maybe is a whole other
- 19:04conversation about like how historically lesbian sex has not
- 19:08been criminalized in the same way that like gay men sex has
- 19:12been criminalized before throughout history.
- 19:16And it's because it's not viewed as legit or like threatening to
- 19:19men because there is no penis involved.
- 19:21And that's like a whole other conversation.
- 19:24But I think that that's the reason why men aren't threatened
- 19:28by the idea of like, oh, their girlfriends having hooking up
- 19:31with a girl on the side. Or that's why when they see the
- 19:34Victoria's Secret models, like, you know, playing with each
- 19:36other's hair, they're like, oh, that's for us.
- 19:39That's not them just inherently liking each other because they
- 19:41don't see it as literally legit. They don't think that that's a
- 19:47thing. They think it's like, for fun.
- 19:50Like, it's actually fucked up. Anyways, Stella Maxwell has also
- 19:53been linked to Lily Rose Depp before she started dating
- 19:57Timothy Chalamet. And she's also been linked and
- 20:00rumoured to be with Taylor Hill, who's also Victoria's Secret
- 20:04model. So at this point, you guys,
- 20:07Taylor Hill, Barbara, Stella, Kara Harley, like we're already
- 20:13at 5 Victoria's Secret angels that like have been publicly
- 20:18probably, you know, dating women and these are the most famous
- 20:22ones and I'm not even done. That's crazy.
- 20:27And I just feel like no one talks about it and the fact that
- 20:29the common denominator is Victoria's Secret.
- 20:32OK, finally with Ella Maxwell, she was also linked to Bella
- 20:35Hadid. Now there are leaked pictures
- 20:39like they're not fully nude of this like home photo shoot of
- 20:43them, like making out that I'm obviously not going to post
- 20:47here. But like those were released
- 20:49that like it's very clear they were together.
- 20:53And like this is not like a constructed photo shoot for a
- 20:56brand. It's like, you know, for their
- 20:59own fun. They also there were reports of
- 21:03them making out in public, like at a party in between Bella
- 21:06Hadid's like getting back together with the weekend.
- 21:09But Bella Hadid has also been rumored to be queer.
- 21:12Every family has one. Gigi Hadid has also been rumored
- 21:15to be queer. I think at the end of the day, a
- 21:17lot of these bitches are gay. And just because they haven't
- 21:20like told you their sexuality doesn't mean it's not happening
- 21:23and doesn't mean that they're closeted, right?
- 21:26Stella's gotten a lot of bitches.
- 21:27Love that for her. Then we move on to Lily
- 21:29Donaldson. Lily Donaldson is someone that
- 21:32has been rumored to have dated Taylor Swift and you know, is
- 21:35also rumored to be dating Taylor Swift right now.
- 21:38I need to get into the the Tilly lore.
- 21:41Like I haven't made an episode about it.
- 21:43I'm not as hip to it, but I am absolutely going to make an
- 21:46episode about it because I think it could make sense if like
- 21:49Taylor has been using Carly as like a fake muse.
- 21:53Meanwhile she has her actual wife over here and it's Lily
- 21:56Donaldson, Lily Donaldson, Victoria's Secret Angel, rumored
- 22:00relationship with Taylor Swift. There's a lot there and we will
- 22:03dig into the lore together on this podcast at some point.
- 22:08Then we have Kendall Jenner, who at this point, it's so publicly
- 22:11rumoured to be queer, like it's not even funny.
- 22:14She was linked to her good friend Lauren Perez, also linked
- 22:19to Haley Bieber. You know, Haley and Kendall and
- 22:21Justin. That may be a love triangle.
- 22:24And like, it absolutely is a love triangle.
- 22:27Kendall has also been linked to Bella Hadid.
- 22:29Like, they had pictures kissing on the mouth.
- 22:31So these are like all of Victoria's Secret models, guys.
- 22:35A lot of them have publicly dated women in like long term
- 22:38relationships. And I feel like no one talks
- 22:40about it. And then the others have been
- 22:43linked to the girls that have had public long term
- 22:46relationships with other women or like, have pictures kissing
- 22:49on the mouth. And everyone's like, oh,
- 22:51Victoria's Secret, you know, it's all for men.
- 22:53These are straight girls. And I feel like I'm going crazy.
- 22:57They're fem, doesn't mean they're not gay.
- 22:59Sometimes it means you're more likely to be gay.
- 23:02Guys. That was so crazy because I
- 23:05literally just got a notification my camera turned
- 23:07off and it was like storage full and then I had to turn the
- 23:10camera off, turn the audio off, restart everything, go delete
- 23:14files, come back here crazy. Anyway, what I was saying begs
- 23:19the question, why are there so many sapphics in the Victoria's
- 23:23Secret franchise? Why are there so many in this
- 23:27industry that like promotes heterosexuality?
- 23:30You know, it's not like they have overt on purpose gay
- 23:34themes, right? The idea is very much like men
- 23:37go buy these things for your wives.
- 23:40Some of the argument is just like that there's a lot of gay
- 23:42people in general. And I feel like people don't
- 23:43know that. But because all the stats are
- 23:46like 10% of the population bitch I hate stats because I feel like
- 23:51it's never fucking accurate. I haven't been polled on my
- 23:54sexuality have you? So like where are these coming
- 23:57from? Also these are people that are
- 23:58publicly out me will state their sexuality C not afraid of
- 24:03homophobia. The amount of people that are
- 24:05out that just like haven't actually said that to a person
- 24:08asking them if they're gay, you know what I mean?
- 24:11Anyways, the point is that there's two parts of Victoria's
- 24:15Secret, right? It's the marketing versus the
- 24:17actual industry. Victoria's Secret, it's a brand.
- 24:20It's almost like the making of a movie.
- 24:22It is a fantasy. And I think that's something we
- 24:25talk about a lot in this podcast is like pop culture and the
- 24:28reality of it and not what they want us to know about it.
- 24:32Because I love pop culture. I think it's really interesting.
- 24:34And messaging doesn't always mean evil.
- 24:37A lot of people want the fantasy, like Disney creates a
- 24:40fantasy of a movie movie, right? It doesn't mean that, I mean,
- 24:44there's a lot of Fair complaints about Disney, but it doesn't
- 24:47mean that creating something like in order to market
- 24:51something in some way is evil. But I think it's interesting to
- 24:54point out and talk about the realities of pop culture and
- 24:58what the industry is actually like beyond what they promote
- 25:02for people to publicly consume. A lot of people just don't want
- 25:06to hear that. A lot of people just want to buy
- 25:07into the street fantasy or whatever, something or a company
- 25:11or film or a celebrity tells us what they're supposed to be
- 25:15like. And if you don't want to
- 25:17actually dig deeper into things, that's fine, but it doesn't mean
- 25:20that there is nothing to peel back.
- 25:22The whole point of entertainment is to entertain us and to give
- 25:27us a very specific vision. That doesn't mean that those
- 25:31people are actually like the vision that they're creating and
- 25:34are scripted and they're playing a role of like a straight girl,
- 25:39right? Doesn't mean they are 1.
- 25:40The promotion is for the public, which is a much more straight
- 25:43and conservative vibe than the actual fashion industry, which
- 25:47is like taking place in New York, Milan, Los Angeles, you
- 25:50know, like they're creating products for women across around
- 25:54the world and across the country that are not all New York City
- 25:59living women. You know, they're women that
- 26:01might have husbands that are a conservative and stay at home.
- 26:04They're not going to reveal how lesbian the nature of this
- 26:09company is, right? And also there's a lot to be
- 26:11said for the fashion industry, like kind of being run by gay
- 26:14men and it's men in general. Like there should be a lot more
- 26:16women, like running shit and a lot more lesbian women too.
- 26:20But these industries are taking place in big liberal cities that
- 26:24are making entertainment and products and brands for the rest
- 26:30of the country. And that's where I think people
- 26:32forget that like marketing is so huge here.
- 26:35So Victoria's Secret, like I said before, is a homosocial and
- 26:40a homosexual sapphic environment.
- 26:42It is like a sorority where everyone is scantily clad and
- 26:48doing photo shoots together. They're spending a lot of time
- 26:51with other women that are all in lingerie doing these shoots that
- 26:57are like, touching each other and like caressing each other.
- 27:01That is a homosocial sexual environment that is bound to
- 27:05create homosexuality. It's kind of like how locker
- 27:08room culture is also kind of gay culture and that there's
- 27:12actually a lot of gay guys in sports and you can kind of like,
- 27:15get away with it because you're kind of like hitting each other
- 27:17in the locker room. I mean, I don't know what guys
- 27:19do, but like, homosocial environments that are like very
- 27:23almost supposed to be straight are perfect breeding ground.
- 27:27And I say breeding ground like it's a bad thing.
- 27:29It's a great thing of gayness. It creates a gay culture because
- 27:35you are not it's not out of the ordinary to touch someone or be
- 27:40around someone nudely. And you can kind of experiment
- 27:44safely without anyone thinking, Oh my God, that's gay of you.
- 27:48Why would you do that? Because you're a Victoria Zeker
- 27:50model. You're supposed to be like
- 27:52caressing the other girls and bras and underwear.
- 27:55And also might make you realize something about yourself.
- 27:58Like it just makes sense that this is the most saphic
- 28:01environment and why there are so many saphics actively hooking up
- 28:06and dating within fashion, but specifically with Victoria's
- 28:10Secret. And you know, the hyper femme
- 28:12aesthetic of Victoria's Secret is created for the male gaze.
- 28:18That aesthetic inherently involves saphic sexuality.
- 28:23So not only is like the saphicness hidden by the fact
- 28:26that it's supposed to be for the male gaze, but what men actually
- 28:30want is ironically already queer women.
- 28:35Those queer women probably don't want them, but the branding of
- 28:39what men want is multiple women with each other in a sapphic
- 28:44way, which is fucked up. But men interpret lesbianism as
- 28:48something for them, almost for their entertainment, for their
- 28:51amusement. These visuals that are catered
- 28:54towards men, ironically, are also catered towards lesbians
- 28:58because at the base of it, it is women being sexual with each
- 29:02other. And when I say like sexual with
- 29:04each other, I don't mean that they're obviously like, making
- 29:06out in these campaigns, but they're being close with each
- 29:09other. Like, I mean, I've had pictures
- 29:11throughout this episode. If you're watching on YouTube,
- 29:13that's gay. Guys, that is gay.
- 29:15So vert sapphic sexual themes are hidden by the male gaze,
- 29:19which views female sexuality as something less real and more for
- 29:24the purpose of turning on men. So it really is like this
- 29:27strange irony going on that makes it profitable with men,
- 29:31but also like is in turn, at its core gay.
- 29:35OK, before we end the episode, I also just really wanted to talk
- 29:38about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
- 29:39It's been so big for pop culture.
- 29:41And they went away because of all this controversy, and they
- 29:44came back and tried to improve and diversity.
- 29:46And for the 2025 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, they
- 29:50definitely did improve for diversity.
- 29:52But the basis of the idea of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
- 29:55was still the same thing, right? It's almost like entertainment
- 29:58for like the world. Men get to see hot women, women
- 30:02get to be like, I want to look like that.
- 30:04I want to look like that. That's the idea of Victoria's
- 30:06Secret Fashion Show. And then we have these amazing
- 30:08performers. But what we see on stage, and
- 30:11I'm going to disregard the male performers that have been on
- 30:13stage because usually they like, you know, are gross and like,
- 30:17look at the women's butts. And it's like disgusting.
- 30:19And like, obviously that's kind of like the intention of
- 30:22Victoria's Secret. But what ends up happening is
- 30:24when we have these female performers on stage, we get the
- 30:27same sapphic Ness of the model together.
- 30:30When we have the photo shoots, right, we see women in heels and
- 30:36lingerie walking down a runway, holding eye contact and reaching
- 30:40out for these female performers. And when we have this culture
- 30:45where you know, these women are supposed to be desirable walking
- 30:48the runway, but then you put a woman musician, they're not like
- 30:53having fun, just like girly pops.
- 30:56It's giving gay cruising. It's giving that like they're
- 30:59make doing a show for the girl performer.
- 31:02And unintentionally, we see very lesbian moments of these female
- 31:07musicians and flirting with the lingerie clad models walking
- 31:14down the runway, almost like they're putting on a show for
- 31:16them. It's like these women musicians
- 31:19are playing the role of these men in the context of Victoria's
- 31:24Secret and how they're supposed to be desiring these girls
- 31:27walking down the runway for them.
- 31:28It's an amazing situation to watch.
- 31:31And the few that stand out to me, and I'll end with the most
- 31:36important one, obviously, are first up Lady Gaga when she
- 31:40performed for the VS Fashion show.
- 31:41You know, Lady Gaga is openly queer, obviously, and makes
- 31:44music for queer people. Like she's eyeing up and down
- 31:48the girls in kind of her alter ego way.
- 31:51She has another outfit change where she's wearing like more of
- 31:54like a black, kind of like more masculine outfit.
- 31:58And then there's another time where she's like wearing a
- 32:00dress, eyeing up and down the girls and like giving them
- 32:03double takes and giving them look up and downs.
- 32:05And I'm like, this is so important to see this like on
- 32:09like, I don't know where this was national television, right,
- 32:12of this gay performance of what is usually supposed to be a man
- 32:16looking up and down, women clad in lingerie.
- 32:19And again, let's remember these models walking down are all
- 32:23probably gay. So it's really fun to see.
- 32:26But then again, it's disguised as being for the male gays.
- 32:30And so that's not gay, you know, because this is Victoria's
- 32:33Secret, duh. They're femme.
- 32:34You know, we also see Ariana Grande the VS fashion show in
- 32:372014. And, you know, maybe I need to
- 32:40do an Ariana Grande episode because there's been a lot of
- 32:43query rumours with her. She's saying that song like I
- 32:46like women and men. She's saying this with Victoria
- 32:49Monet. It's called Monopoly.
- 32:50But like, she sings I like women and men.
- 32:53So I just think that's like pretty clear, like clearer than
- 32:57anything Taylor Swift has done. But of course people will still
- 33:00say she's just singing a song. And it's like, why?
- 33:02Why can't Ariana Grande be gay? Because she looks femme?
- 33:06Because that's usually like, the reasoning when it comes down to
- 33:08it. But she performed at the VS
- 33:10fashion show and we see her like, shimmying and like,
- 33:13looking up the girls too. And it's not in the most like,
- 33:16male way, in the way that Lady Gaga was almost like mimicking
- 33:19the way a man would do it. But that doesn't mean it's not
- 33:22gay. And how women are attracted to
- 33:24each other is inherently girly. Poppy, like, attraction between
- 33:29women doesn't have to replicate attraction between men and men
- 33:33and women. And so that's what's really
- 33:35interesting about Victoria's Secret, too, because we assume
- 33:38that, like, sexuality and the way we think about it with
- 33:42heterosexual attraction is very much like there's a power
- 33:45dynamic. Like the man is the one chasing
- 33:48and being like, you know, eyeing the girl up and down and she's
- 33:52like the deer prancing around being hot, right?
- 33:55That doesn't have to be how it is between two women.
- 33:58And I think that disguises a lot of like, sapphic Ness for a lot,
- 34:04a lot of things in pop culture, but specifically with Victoria's
- 34:07Secret, because we think if they're two girly pops, they
- 34:10can't possibly be attracted to each other.
- 34:12But I feel like Ariana Grande's performance is kind of a good
- 34:14example of this is like, what is a woman being attracted to
- 34:17another woman? It can look like these are just
- 34:20two girly pops, like shimmying each other, but they're like
- 34:22dancing for each other. That's gay.
- 34:25OK, Finally we have the most iconic Victoria's Secret Fashion
- 34:29show performance of all time. And I mean, there were two
- 34:32performances, right? Or two years, Karlie Kloss and
- 34:35Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift specifically how
- 34:37she interacted with Karlie Kloss, the VS fashion shows of
- 34:402013 and 2014. And I was watching the 2014 one
- 34:45when I was like setting up for this episode.
- 34:47But they're one of the parts is literally called dream girls.
- 34:51And then she performs and it just makes me think of an
- 34:54argumentative antithetical dream girl.
- 34:57And of course her and Carly Kloss have meaningful glances
- 35:02and stairs and are holding hands.
- 35:04I mean, in 2014, Taylor actually walks holding hands with Carly
- 35:08Kloss down the runway. And watching other performances,
- 35:12you can realize that this is not common, that the performer is
- 35:15holding hands with one person, one Angel.
- 35:19Walking down the Vias runway. You can just see that there's
- 35:22something between Taylor and Carly and they're like kind of
- 35:25smirking about it, but also kind of nervous about it. 2013, you
- 35:29can see a little bit more nervousness, and 2014, you can
- 35:32see a lot more confidence and like, Oh my God, we're hiding
- 35:35something. It's just so clear.
- 35:37And it's just like the pinnacle of like what Victoria's Secret
- 35:40saphicness is, is that these two girls, like, are gay for each
- 35:44other. And no one knows because of the
- 35:47assumption that they're both straight because they're femme
- 35:51and walking the VS runway that is for men.
- 35:54And yet in the most ironic place to fall in love with another
- 35:57girl, they do. And it's just kind of beautiful.
- 36:00And they probably did allegedly fell in love.
- 36:02I don't know. Taylor is like literally
- 36:05touching, holding hands with, and gesturing towards half naked
- 36:08women the entire time. Like come on, multiple all of
- 36:13these models she is rumored to be dating or hooked up with
- 36:16right at the 2014 behind the scenes fashion show, Taylor says
- 36:22about like being behind the scenes and all these girls
- 36:25coming to her trailer. She says quote and they're all
- 36:29wearing these robes, by the way. It's like an actual fantasy for
- 36:32who bitch you like it's she was caught in 4K.
- 36:37She also has lyrics referencing the Victoria's Secret Fashion
- 36:40shows. A lot of references honestly and
- 36:43her music videos like Karlie Kloss before the Victoria's
- 36:45Secret Fashion show is doing a ballet dance kind of like ad in
- 36:50the theater that Taylor Swift uses for the set of the Fate of
- 36:54Ophelia music video. Like 100% like it's not doubted.
- 36:58She also has a lyric and you aren't in love.
- 37:00She says you 2 are dancing in a snow globe round and round.
- 37:03And there's performance on the VS fashion show where I think
- 37:06it's called snow angels and Taylor's performing and snow is
- 37:10falling down as she is dancing and gesturing towards Karlie
- 37:13Kloss. Right snow globe.
- 37:16We also have gold rush quote walk past quick brush.
- 37:20I don't like slow motion, double vision and a rose blush.
- 37:23That's, you know, could be a reference to both Taylor and
- 37:27Carly wearing rose blush outfits walking down the runway, slow
- 37:32motion, quick brush walk past her.
- 37:35Like shut up. Like it's unreal.
- 37:38We also have when she's walking down the runway with Karlie
- 37:41Kloss, they're on a checkerboard runway.
- 37:44And then, of course, we have the checkerboard call back during
- 37:46the Aeros tour where she is holding hands with her dancer
- 37:50and walking down the runway, a checkerboard runway.
- 37:54It's like, not even funny. Like, I don't know how anyone
- 37:56disputes this. So the point is that there's a
- 37:59lot of times where there's been some gay cruising on the
- 38:03Victoria's Secret runway. And I know that that's usually a
- 38:05term like for gay men. But I think that like, lesbians
- 38:08should like, maybe come up with their own or use it as well
- 38:11because it really is what it is. It's like these girls walking
- 38:14down, checking out other girls, trying to figure out who to
- 38:17date, and then they do date. So in conclusion, Victoria's
- 38:21Secret is that she is Saphic. The culture is Saphic.
- 38:25What it is inherently hides the Saphicness, the secret of the
- 38:31queerness behind the male gaze because men are so fucking dumb
- 38:35to realize how gay Victoria's Secret is.
- 38:37And at the end of the day, the models themselves are gay too.
