- 0:00Hello there, it's Most things Kenobi.
- 0:04This is the podcast you're looking for.
- 0:18Hi everyone, Welcome to another episode of Most Things Kenobi, A
- 0:21podcast about Obi Wan, Kenobi and all things Star Wars.
- 0:25I'm your host, Leanne. And I'm your host Lauren, and
- 0:30this week we are going to discuss the finale of Asoka and
- 0:34the previous two episodes. So episode 6-7 and the finale,
- 0:37which is 8. Yes.
- 0:39And our thoughts. Our thoughts, our thoughts.
- 0:46I gotta say, I'll just, I'll say right off the jump I thought it
- 0:49fell flat. I was, yeah.
- 0:52I didn't really care for it. I don't think it's stuck the
- 0:55landing. I don't either.
- 0:59Every. OK, so I'm hearing 2 camps of
- 1:02thought. There's a lot of people who are,
- 1:04like, sobbing, crying. This is the greatest thing I've
- 1:07ever seen in my life, OK? And then there's a whole another
- 1:11camp of people who are, like, afraid to speak up, which I find
- 1:14quite funny that we're like, what the hell was that?
- 1:18Yeah. And I'm kind of right there with
- 1:21those people, so just say yes. Look, look, we're not here to
- 1:26dull anyone's shine, right? Not at all.
- 1:29There were plenty. There's plenty about it that's
- 1:31beautiful and there's lots to like totally agree.
- 1:38I just thought it was a week ending.
- 1:41And now with all things considered, with the passing of
- 1:44Ray Stevens and and where his character goes from here, it's
- 1:47just a fucking shame because his character was easily the most
- 1:53intriguing of the series. I know he's a new character, so
- 1:58they're always a little bit more interesting because we're
- 2:01getting to know them and we don't know the whole story.
- 2:03But his performance right up to to the end was fantastic, Nailed
- 2:09it. And I wish he was here to know
- 2:11how much he is beloved in just his small amount of time in the
- 2:16world of Star Wars. It's one of those examples of a
- 2:19character coming on and just. Captivating people.
- 2:23Hondo was supposed to be a one time character and he was so
- 2:26good. People loved him.
- 2:28I mean, mall was only on screen for like how many total minutes
- 2:32and people were obsessed with that character back when Phantom
- 2:36Menace came out. So it goes to show how story and
- 2:41an interesting bad plotline can really draw on our audience's
- 2:46attention. So I am also really sad that
- 2:50he's passed away. It's so much.
- 2:52Like what are they going to do? I I don't know.
- 2:55And it was such a beautiful parting shot of the, you know,
- 3:01and. I think that shot is the most
- 3:05interesting one in. All of this show, yeah.
- 3:09So let's talk about it, because obviously it's the father, the
- 3:14daughter and the son. Was the daughter there?
- 3:17I didn't see. No, no.
- 3:20It was like her head was not there.
- 3:22Right. Someone said that she was there,
- 3:23but crumbled. I didn't see her at all.
- 3:26So I got to say that's that is very intriguing because
- 3:31obviously Asoka is tied to the sister.
- 3:34Right. The sister was crumbled, which
- 3:37means, I mean she gave her life force, if you will.
- 3:41Right. And the more I was there,
- 3:44exactly. I I was, I was happy to see all
- 3:49those things. Obviously, I got a big old Lord
- 3:51of the Rings moment because it looked like the the statue of
- 3:55Arganath, Arganath, however you want to pronounce it right.
- 3:59It was great. But I find this planet to be a
- 4:03hodgepodge of all the things that are mystical.
- 4:07It's like, it's like the theme park of Star Wars mysticalness,
- 4:11you know? Go here to find the whales, go
- 4:16here to find the witches, go here to find the father.
- 4:18Like, you're right. What the hell there, Okay.
- 4:23So there's there's a lot there. The father, and then there's
- 4:28this son who are They're all dead, right?
- 4:32Yeah, they've all died now, including the daughter.
- 4:35So. I feel like the symbolism of the
- 4:38daughter being crumbled is because Asoka is the daughter,
- 4:41so she is there, so she doesn't need to be represented in the
- 4:44pillars. Some people were wondering if
- 4:46Balin knew about Mortis somehow and was trying to replace the
- 4:52father with himself, which is why he's standing on that statue
- 4:55particularly. Yes, I I also think that that's
- 5:00that is that's the theory I'm going with.
- 5:03Yeah. There's also a theory that
- 5:05Mother Talzin is the mother of the father, son and daughter.
- 5:11She's the missing mother that had been banished from Mortis,
- 5:17which I would give no credence to, except now they're on this
- 5:21planet that's all about Night Sisters.
- 5:23So now I feel like that is much more possible, didn't they?
- 5:28Isn't the sword that what's her name had halls and sword?
- 5:32Did I hear that properly? You did?
- 5:34Yeah. OK, all right.
- 5:36So there are connections here. And then what was he looking at?
- 5:40Right, it's like a it was light shooting up, right?
- 5:43Is it like an entry to mortise? Is it an entry to the world
- 5:47Between worlds? Is it the same light that Asoka
- 5:52was looking at? Because there was a very
- 5:53distinct, dare I say it has a scientific term.
- 5:57It's called crepuscular ray. If I like that if we want to go
- 6:01to it, but the light that was shining out of those clouds in
- 6:05such a way was that also like was the Soca looking at the same
- 6:09point? I think so that Ray Baylin was
- 6:12looking at. Sorry.
- 6:14I think so, yeah. OK, I think that's interesting.
- 6:19Yeah, like it's all very interesting and makes me very
- 6:21nervous. Like what?
- 6:23Are they gonna fuck up next season?
- 6:25I like, like, I really like not knowing anything about mortis.
- 6:30I like that mortis is a question mark.
- 6:32I don't. I don't really want them to
- 6:35answer too many questions. No, no, it's it's like Yoda and
- 6:39his species. Please don't fuck around and
- 6:41find out. We don't want to find out and we
- 6:44don't want to fuck around with it.
- 6:45It's just mystery ads, intrigue, and honestly, I'm bias mortis
- 6:53belongs to Obi Wan, Anakin and a soca and story period.
- 6:59That's it. Like.
- 7:01They're the only ones who have been there.
- 7:03It was like Wizard of Oz where they came back and everyone was
- 7:06like, yeah, where have you been? We've been here all along, you
- 7:10know. No time has passed.
- 7:13What a strange thing like I leave it alone.
- 7:21I know. Leave it alone.
- 7:25So this also might tie into this, right?
- 7:28You you sent me something, I think, saying that Balin has
- 7:33Arabesh right? Like up his Yep.
- 7:35Garnets. Yep.
- 7:38And it's certain Nuclear Han Chewy 3PO R2-D2 with like casual
- 7:45names, not formal titles, which is like Chewy.
- 7:50Chewy is the name on the thing. I I don't know.
- 7:52Maybe Chewbacca was too long for that small gauntlet.
- 7:56But like Han, instead of like Han, Han Solo.
- 7:59And yeah, I don't know, it's just all very familiar to me.
- 8:02And there's there's another theory because there's so many
- 8:08things that like, are kind of overlapping here.
- 8:11So bear with me. People are complaining that
- 8:15Thron is not like he is in the new Timothy Zahn.
- 8:20Trilogy that he's more like he was in the original Thron
- 8:25trilogy, where he's pretty ruthless.
- 8:27I guess of the the new ones, he doesn't, you know, sacrifice
- 8:32life unless necessary. Like he really doesn't want to
- 8:35kill people necessarily, but he doesn't care about that so much
- 8:39in the old trilogy and in the old trilogy.
- 8:43Spoilers if you haven't read it. There is a crazy guy who I
- 8:48cannot remember his name. You couldn't remember his name
- 8:53in the last episode? I can't.
- 8:55It's weird. I still don't remember.
- 8:56It's like something Jorith or something like that.
- 8:59It's not like a normal name. I can look it up, really have
- 9:02the book like right. I have the books over here.
- 9:04I know I do what you do. Joris C buff bowth.
- 9:09I can't even pronounce it. It's not a real word.
- 9:12OK, OK. But some people are saying that.
- 9:16That could have been Balin. Like, they're like this Jedi
- 9:21becomes a Dark Jedi. Or like, kills a Dark Jedi.
- 9:25So maybe Juris kills Balin and that's how he knows about Luke.
- 9:31I don't know. It's just like, this is all so
- 9:34fucking bizarre. And now that Ray Stevenson is
- 9:37dead, I don't know what they're going to do.
- 9:39I look one way or another. If you're going all the way with
- 9:44this, Luke has to show up. Yeah, and that is something one
- 9:49of our patrons pointed out. And ever since he pointed it
- 9:52out, I've been just as angry as he is.
- 9:56Everyone seems like no one is mentioning Luke Skywalker
- 10:01anywhere. I know, I know.
- 10:04Leia gets a mention, and so if it's OK to mention her when
- 10:08Sabine is telling Ezra what happened.
- 10:11No one mentions the the hero that fucking saved the Galaxy.
- 10:16I'm so angry and confused I don't even know what to do with
- 10:20myself. He is the beginning and the end,
- 10:24and he gets so little credit for it, honestly.
- 10:28Yeah, I don't know why. I honestly, if I sit around and
- 10:33think about it, it makes me angry because he's due some
- 10:37credit. He's due some mentioning he's a
- 10:39big fucking deal. OK?
- 10:41Like we get it. Lay as in the Senate or like was
- 10:46or is involved in the New Republic.
- 10:48You know she's she's part of the politics.
- 10:53Her brother saved the Galaxy like.
- 10:57Twice like. By the way, twice his name
- 11:02should be known should be uttered.
- 11:04It seems like he would be a household name.
- 11:06I yes, I I've been saying this since the first season of Mando.
- 11:11Yes. Yes, yeah.
- 11:12He even goes back to Tatowine and there's no mention of Luke
- 11:16Skywalker on Tatowine. Are you kidding?
- 11:18Fucked up shit. That would make no sense.
- 11:21Like, he's a hometown hero, so to speak.
- 11:23Whether or not people liked him there, it doesn't matter.
- 11:26You think that people wouldn't be using every ounce of credit
- 11:29they could to like, yeah. It just really grinds my gears
- 11:35as they say on. We don't really grinds my we
- 11:39should have a segment. We should have a segment for
- 11:42that. Yeah, I know we try to say
- 11:47positive, but yeah, there's stuff that really bothers me
- 11:49about this about a lot of the current shows, like they, yes,
- 11:54Luke was in those shows. But like, for a fraction of a
- 11:58second. And then no one mentions him
- 12:00ever again, like he's some sort of mysterious mystery.
- 12:04Like everyone would know who he was.
- 12:06Ray knew who he was. He was a legend to her.
- 12:09So. Yeah, she's pretty isolated.
- 12:13I mean, she's basically, yes, isolated.
- 12:15She's heard of him. So I would expect in these other
- 12:18shows leading up to the sequels that other people would know
- 12:21about him. I don't know, just me, just me.
- 12:23Yeah. I'm with you on it.
- 12:26I have a real, real big problem with zombie troopers.
- 12:31Yeah, they lost me. There's going to be a lot more
- 12:36next season. I I just I'm it's lazy.
- 12:43Yeah, it's and I can't do it. It's been done.
- 12:46Do it also on Tinosha. I know, but it's just, I don't
- 12:53even have anything to say about it.
- 12:55I I saw that and I was just like, Oh my God, no, just no.
- 13:01I'm not a zombie person anyway. I know that zombies are a big
- 13:05deal to people. Lot of people love the zombie
- 13:09idea. And I'm I'm do it, love it all
- 13:12you want. I I don't.
- 13:14I'm just like, what the fuck? And they still defeated them.
- 13:18Like that's the other thing. Well.
- 13:23God, all of the like, night sister stuff.
- 13:25So like Thrawn is a warlord of zombies and witches.
- 13:28Awesome. Just in time for Halloween,
- 13:32yeah. Yes.
- 13:38But like why? Why bother doing the ceremony
- 13:44with Morgan Elspeth where they give her the sword and like,
- 13:48burn the markings into her face just to have her fucking die
- 13:51like a punk? Like what her character deserve
- 13:56more? She really did like the fight
- 13:59was cool and she is such such a badass like she really.
- 14:04That actress is so talented. But yeah, I I hands down round
- 14:08of applause for for her. I found myself watching her
- 14:12instead of a soca. Oh yeah, no, her all.
- 14:15I was wondering if they had stunt double s, to be honest,
- 14:18but I couldn't tell. It was so good.
- 14:21It was so good. I don't care who did it.
- 14:23It was it was really well done. The fighting was.
- 14:25That was a good bat. That was a good fight.
- 14:27It was fun, but. Like she just died like nothing.
- 14:35And she didn't even like, I don't know.
- 14:36Well, here's I think. I think they're going to bring
- 14:39her back because you can bring a bunch of fucking Stormtroopers
- 14:42back with duct tape. Like, here's my problem.
- 14:45If you can bring the actual Stormtrooper back, why can't you
- 14:51seal the suit with something other than electrical tape?
- 14:59Can't you wave your hand around and seal that crack in that cuz?
- 15:03It's supposed to look Knight's history.
- 15:06It's an aesthetic okay. And I'm sorry, but the gold face
- 15:13What was that? And it was Game of Thrones for
- 15:17anyone who. Yes, it was reminiscent of
- 15:21something in Game of Thrones, which also didn't lead anywhere.
- 15:24Yeah, I I can't believe that it literally was like pointless.
- 15:28Well, I'm assuming it will do something next season, but
- 15:33here's the thing. Every one of these warlords have
- 15:36like a right hand Storm Trooper. Yeah, like we had.
- 15:42What's her name? She was in Game of Thrones.
- 15:44Gwendolyn Christian was. That her name.
- 15:46She was, she was the the. She was in platinum.
- 15:50Yeah, that. About she She fell in a hole and
- 15:53didn't do anything. Yep.
- 15:55Yeah. Bye.
- 15:57Yeah. So I mean like there's always
- 15:58like the side, like you know the the the commander of whatever
- 16:05who takes the orders from the he.
- 16:06Didn't do anything though. Like he I just, I'm sorry.
- 16:12I don't want to be that person who has nothing nice to say, but
- 16:15I I really felt like it was very weak.
- 16:17It was very weak. I'll tell you what wasn't.
- 16:20Here's something I really liked. I had to play it back four times
- 16:23to make sure I heard it, and I think I heard it correctly.
- 16:26Did Thron call Asoka a rodent? Oh, I don't know.
- 16:31I didn't notice that. Oh yeah, I had to play it back.
- 16:34He's like, he says something to the effect.
- 16:36That's when they were about to jump, make the jump.
- 16:39And he's talking to her like his final words.
- 16:42And he's like, perhaps this is the place that a rodent like
- 16:45yourself should remain. And then it was like his mic
- 16:49drop and then they shot off in the hyperspace.
- 16:52Is that what he? Really.
- 16:53I know. He called her a rodent.
- 16:55Oh my goodness. I thought that was savage.
- 16:58I thought it was savage as fuck. That's amazing.
- 17:02Honestly, I did like, I also liked that Asoka was riding that
- 17:08rat horse. I don't know what you want to
- 17:11call it, dog. Yeah thing.
- 17:13Yeah. Made me sad.
- 17:15I'm not what? We're not even talking about it.
- 17:16It made me. Sad, but it's the drawing that
- 17:18Filoni did. It's a famous drawing that's on
- 17:21the Asoka shirts. We finally got to see it, but at
- 17:25least they're being treated nicely.
- 17:26Unlike in Mando, where all the animals are killed because
- 17:31they're animals. Yeah, I you know what?
- 17:36I I was shocked. I'll admit this.
- 17:39I liked Ezra for the first time ever.
- 17:43Ezra wasn't. Bad I I kind of flipped because
- 17:46like in Rebels, I'm I'm not that invested in Rebels.
- 17:49But I liked Sabine. Fine.
- 17:52I could not stand Ezra. I could not stand Sabine in
- 17:55Asoka and I actually quite liked Ezra.
- 17:57That actor was very good. So I don't know what that tells
- 18:00you. Well, the power of live action
- 18:05versus animation. I mean, we all love Hara more in
- 18:09animation. Although I did get a little, I
- 18:13did get a little emotional when her and Ezra final.
- 18:18I was really hoping Jason would show up and he'd be like, whoa,
- 18:21you had a kid with my master, like, hey, But I'm sure that
- 18:25talk is going to come at some point later, I'm assuming.
- 18:29Yeah, because I'm sure Ezra will train Jason if if anything.
- 18:34But. I just like I did.
- 18:38Ezra grew up. That's what we all needed.
- 18:40We needed Ezra to like. Mature and stop being a pain in
- 18:43the ass. Sorry yeah but Sabine however
- 18:48look. The flattest character for me in
- 18:50the entire series was Shin. Sorry shin lovers I I just She
- 18:54looks like a deer in the headlight.
- 18:55Didn't do. Anything.
- 18:58She didn't say anything. And also, and Sabine, I just,
- 19:02I'm like whatever, you know who is more intriguing?
- 19:06The dude who was given lip to Hara in the throne room there
- 19:12with Yes, with our girl. Who's her name?
- 19:15What's her name? Thank you, man.
- 19:17Ma, that guy's a bitch. You know him.
- 19:20And man Masma's husbands are drinking.
- 19:22Oh my God. Yeah, apparently he, you know,
- 19:25those two talks, she's. Apparently somebody very
- 19:27important from something else, but I don't know what that Yeah,
- 19:30yeah, he is, he is. He's the father of one of the of
- 19:34the characters from the resistance animation show.
- 19:36That's right. I never watched that, so I
- 19:38can't, I can't comment further. But he is somebody.
- 19:41He's somebody in a long line of somebody that I don't know.
- 19:45You know what struck me watching that scene is that I was just so
- 19:51grateful that Mon Mothma story is being told in and or and not
- 19:55by these other people. All right.
- 19:58Yeah, no, she's just she's a lovely fixture.
- 20:01We love her. I'm glad that Leo and 3PO got a
- 20:04moment in the sun that was fun and unexpected.
- 20:06And Oh my gosh, Leia saves the day again.
- 20:10Coming in, coming in hot for her sisters in the in the Republic.
- 20:15And I love Chopper. Chopper, chopper.
- 20:20He's swinging his arms and shit and this guy had to be like, yo,
- 20:23calm down, man. I love her.
- 20:27I love him, so it was a great moment.
- 20:28Yeah, Chopper was great. I enjoyed seeing him in live
- 20:31action. That was delightful.
- 20:33Not enough, but delightful. Not enough.
- 20:37And of course, I mean episode six, we got another Anakin
- 20:42moment of him training. He recorded his training.
- 20:46Yeah, that. Doesn't seem like a very Anakin
- 20:48thing to do, but it's in, isn't it?
- 20:52In Tales of the Jedi rebels. Or is it in Rebels?
- 20:57I don't know. I thought we had seen.
- 20:58Oh you're right, it is Rebels. Cuz Ezra finds it.
- 21:02Yeah, in a holocron. Or was it holocron or just
- 21:06something, I think? Or remember, it's not a
- 21:09holocron. Cuz that would be secret, yeah,
- 21:12but he trains her in Tales of the Jedi and we see that.
- 21:15I don't know if it's being recorded.
- 21:16Maybe Obi Wan was the recorder. He's so off camera.
- 21:20Always. Adding footnotes where
- 21:25necessary, yeah. Obi Wan gets no mention of
- 21:30course, because, well, he gave no mention to Asoka and his
- 21:33show, so they're just bitch slapping back.
- 21:37Tit for tat. Fair enough.
- 21:41I was. I was happy to see Anakin all
- 21:43the Anakin was. Hayden Christensen stole the
- 21:46series, as he should. He was delightful.
- 21:49He's getting his day in the sun. How did you feel seeing him in
- 21:53the last shot? I was happy to see him as a
- 21:56force goes, but I don't know what any of it meant, yeah.
- 22:00I mean was that like because she she mentions, Asoka mentions
- 22:04like moving on, so is she moving on from her guilt associated
- 22:09with him and that's why he seemed proud at the end that he
- 22:11released her from the doubt and fear and guilt of what happened
- 22:17to him? I don't know.
- 22:19Was it part of his penance? What did Sabine see?
- 22:22Apparently forest ghost can go to other galaxies, so that's
- 22:25cool. Well, I mean, it's if the Mortis
- 22:29people are there, Anakin should show up there.
- 22:32Yes, he's taken his place as the father, like I.
- 22:35There's just OK. This, to me, is a sign of weak
- 22:39writing, because we have no answers.
- 22:42That's correct. And more questions, Yes, yes.
- 22:44And I was talking to somebody else about this and I really
- 22:48agree that it feels like there's a Mando verse now and this is
- 22:54becoming Marvel where everything you see is here's a teaser for
- 22:59what's coming next and we don't actually get a complete story
- 23:03and. It's the multiverse, yeah.
- 23:07And I'm not here for that. I really am not.
- 23:09I'm not a Marvel fan. Like, I'll watch it, but I'm not
- 23:12like a Marvel fanatic. And if that's what they're
- 23:14turning Star Wars into, that's not good storytelling.
- 23:18Like A New Hope. I didn't know it was going to
- 23:21get a sequel, so it had to stand on its own.
- 23:23And it did. And I feel like, honestly, all
- 23:26of the original trilogy you could take out of the trilogy
- 23:29and it could stand on its own. I feel like and or can stand on
- 23:33its own, even though there's like a bit of a cliffhanger for
- 23:36what's coming next. It could stand as a complete
- 23:38story, Like, I get where the character began and ended and
- 23:41how he would become Rogue One without you feeling in the
- 23:44details. But with this stuff, I feel like
- 23:48they're sprinkling little shit here and there but not, like,
- 23:52really explaining anything. And we're not stupid.
- 23:55You and I are smart women. We can fucking understand
- 23:58implication as opposed to downright exposition.
- 24:03And I don't fucking get it. And I'm not caring enough.
- 24:08God, I don't want to get this angry.
- 24:11Well, I'll tell you this, as a Marvel fan, I lost interest
- 24:13because they did too much of this.
- 24:15Yeah, the other person I was talking to is the same.
- 24:19It becomes too difficult. It feels like you're being led
- 24:22around by the nose, like a donkey with a carrot.
- 24:26Go this way. No.
- 24:28Now look over here. Now, now we'll look over here.
- 24:30And like, oh, don't forget about this over here.
- 24:32It gets exhausting. It really does.
- 24:35There's a coworker of mine, an original OG Star Wars person,
- 24:40who went and saw A New Hope in theater.
- 24:42Because he was a teenager, right?
- 24:47He was afraid it would go this direction, that it would turn
- 24:50into a multiverse. And he said he's out the minute
- 24:53it turns into a Marvel type. There's this thread over here
- 24:58and this thread over here and this thread over here.
- 24:59And maybe they'll tie together, but maybe they won't And
- 25:02everything, you know. And and actually I haven't
- 25:07talked to him a lot about the Asoka show just because I
- 25:09haven't seen him. But I will say that my other
- 25:11friend who wasn't a rebels. Watcher or a Clone Wars watcher
- 25:16who loved to soak a said it. It landed flat.
- 25:18Too many questions, too many questions.
- 25:21So this is a person who doesn't have the back story that we have
- 25:25and is still left like okay but like dot dot dot you know?
- 25:30And and and I like to hear the opinions of those individuals
- 25:33because we are brain, you and I, our brains are full of all these
- 25:36things, right? And we're thinking about it all
- 25:38the time. We're talking about it all the
- 25:39time. We're sharing emotions.
- 25:42And you know, and then there's the people who are more, more
- 25:45simplified, bless them, that they don't have to deal with all
- 25:48the details that we do. And if they come away saying
- 25:53what was that? And then you know something.
- 25:58Something got missed somewhere. People in both areas, people who
- 26:02are full of all the information are like, I don't get it.
- 26:05And then people who have none of the reference points are like, I
- 26:08don't get it. Then I would say not a success.
- 26:11I know there are a lot of people who think it was amazing and.
- 26:15It was a beautiful show, the visuals, the the way that they
- 26:19blended in scenes and and the the the locations, and it didn't
- 26:26look cheap. For a lot of the big shots that
- 26:30we got, I actually felt like some of the smaller shots looked
- 26:33cheap. The.
- 26:34Smaller shots were cheap. I felt like watching Star Trek
- 26:38sometimes instead. Of a little bit.
- 26:41I had some. I had some feels in that
- 26:43direction. And I don't mean.
- 26:44I don't mean to shit on Star Trek.
- 26:45My mother's listening. No, it was a it was a very
- 26:48important show. It actually like I will not ever
- 26:52shit on Star Trek. The only thing is it has campy
- 26:55production on purpose. Like it's just how it is.
- 26:59And I felt like I was waiting for Captain Kirk to, like, fly
- 27:02through the background with like a rock monster.
- 27:08One of those little furry things, the I don't remember.
- 27:12Those were my favorites. And now the I want to say
- 27:16they're not Weebles. That's Weeble.
- 27:18And they wobble, but they don't fall down.
- 27:20It's they're like the little, they're like the little furry
- 27:23creatures and they make squeaks. They're my favorite.
- 27:25My mom's probably like shouting right now, like what the name is
- 27:28or, but people who know will will know.
- 27:31But yeah, yeah, I feel the middle of the season was the
- 27:35strongest. And then it was very intriguing
- 27:39and we got all these things going on.
- 27:41And then it just was like, I don't know.
- 27:43I don't know. Yeah, someone else described it
- 27:46as they felt like it was trying to be really deep but wasn't
- 27:51landing. It was like, I could see that,
- 27:55like they maybe they knew what they were talking about, but
- 27:57they weren't really giving it to the audience in a way where we
- 28:00could understand what was inside the writer's brain.
- 28:03I. Don't know.
- 28:04Well, guess what? We said we would revisit the
- 28:07Anakin episode when it was all said and done and now we don't
- 28:09have to because none of it was explained, none of it was
- 28:12answered, right? Yeah, it wasn't contextualized.
- 28:15It was basically some sort of threshold moment.
- 28:18But it I don't think it was. I don't think it achieved
- 28:23success personally. I don't know.
- 28:26I was very pleased with seeing all of it.
- 28:29I was too. That's that's about where it
- 28:32stops. And I hate to even say that.
- 28:34I think a lot of people, a lot of people feel that way.
- 28:37I think it was beautiful. We were really excited to see
- 28:40all the context and like all the Clone Wars stuff.
- 28:43That was fucking awesome. But a lot of people I've talked
- 28:46to have said like, yeah, it's kind of, like not quite clear on
- 28:51the message, like what was the live or die, like what?
- 28:57So I don't really know. I have such mixed feelings
- 29:02because I really want to like this show.
- 29:05And I will say that unlike Mando, which I actively like,
- 29:10dislike that show. Please don't strike me down this
- 29:15show. I enjoyed watching.
- 29:17Like the visuals were great and I enjoyed like there were so
- 29:21many moments was like, ooh, like nice sisters.
- 29:25What? And like you know that kind of
- 29:26yeah, yeah. But then, like you, I kind of
- 29:28feel like it just didn't stick. The landing, which, and there
- 29:31wasn't enough throughout the show for me to be like, that was
- 29:35great. You know, I'm kind of coming
- 29:37away feeling like I would watch it again.
- 29:39Maybe someday. Yeah, yeah, I it was.
- 29:44I like to. Whenever these shows come out, I
- 29:47try not to. I try to go into it and enjoy it
- 29:51as like Star Wars on TV. Yeah, we got something to watch.
- 29:56And then when they get me in it and I start thinking about it.
- 30:00And then like we talk about it, we dissect it.
- 30:02And then that's where it becomes a problem.
- 30:04It's fun to watch. It's great to see.
- 30:07It's good to see these characters loved seeing Hayden
- 30:11back. I mean, it was beautiful.
- 30:14We got new characters, new galaxies, no answers.
- 30:19And I have a major problem with that.
- 30:21And I know, I know, I know more seasons, whatever.
- 30:24But like you have to answer some so that the audience feels.
- 30:29Like they got something out of it.
- 30:33Like something was achieved, that something came to fruition.
- 30:37But I felt like there were so many loose ends as we're wrapped
- 30:42up pretty good. He got to go home.
- 30:45Boom. Still don't know how Sabine has
- 30:48the Force or why. Or we didn't even talk.
- 30:51This is a mess. It's a fucking mess.
- 30:53I hate it. We never got a clear answer with
- 30:55Anakin and Asoka. We have theories.
- 30:57We have ideas, no answers. Balin and and Shin and what
- 31:03Shin's goal is? Does she want power?
- 31:06Does she want to be accepted? I don't know.
- 31:08It's all these things where I don't feel like it came to a
- 31:13point that I'm satisfied with. And it's going to be two more
- 31:16fucking years before we get answers, because every TV show
- 31:19takes one to two years to do. And then there's a theory that
- 31:24it's all actually leading to a movie.
- 31:28So like. I don't have time, honestly.
- 31:32Like, who goes to the movies anymore?
- 31:35This is why I get annoyed, because what they're doing is
- 31:39taking advantage of their fans. Like they're natural.
- 31:42It's like and I this sounds so wrong because they just gave us
- 31:46a show and it's a soca and Hayden was in it.
- 31:49There was Clone Wars, and we got so much.
- 31:51But also like we did, where's the fucking story?
- 31:54Like, I don't want just big fucking fight scenes and
- 31:59lightsabers. Like I also want to feel
- 32:02engaged. And I'm not engaged just because
- 32:05you say so. You have to like, make me
- 32:10engaged with good storytelling, and that's not happening.
- 32:14And it's it's not happening with like everything they're putting
- 32:18out. And it's really starting to wear
- 32:20me down. I'm with you.
- 32:23I will watch these things. Yeah, but will I care about
- 32:27them? There's a difference?
- 32:28Yes, absolutely. Here's the thing.
- 32:32I care about all these fucking characters, because you made me
- 32:34like them at a different time. And by you, I mean like Felonian
- 32:39Company, Disney and Company, whatever.
- 32:41Whoever made what and what period.
- 32:44But like, I I grew to like these people at one point.
- 32:49Please don't make me dislike them, yeah.
- 32:53Because you're trying to get us to go to a movie or to buy a
- 32:56stuffed loft cat, which I still want.
- 33:00I'm not hating. I'm just saying, you know, we
- 33:05didn't even talk about the turtle creatures.
- 33:07They were adorable. They were cute.
- 33:09They were very, they were very cute.
- 33:11I liked that. I felt bad for him, of course,
- 33:13yes, because you know, George Lucas said.
- 33:15Don't be afraid to be cute. Don't be afraid to have fun
- 33:18right with the Ewoks and the whole thing.
- 33:20So. They took it that and ran with
- 33:22it. And I like the turtles.
- 33:23They were cute. They were self-sufficient.
- 33:25God bless them, they were, they were kind hearted.
- 33:28They even had a spot for the dog, wolf, rat thing in the.
- 33:34He dropped the window down, he got nervous and both of them
- 33:36were in there and I was like, oh God, you know, they're
- 33:39resilient. They're they're they're nomadic
- 33:42and I love that, you know, I really liked them.
- 33:45They were cute. They were cute.
- 33:46I felt they had little vests on. They were like they were like
- 33:50the. Colonial Like they were so
- 33:54adorable. They've reminded me so much of
- 33:56the Turtle people from Felucia that we talked about.
- 33:59Before, but without the the shell, yes.
- 34:02These these ones had shells like the Nomad had.
- 34:05It was very cute. I liked that a lot.
- 34:08The definition of a self-sufficient, well they were
- 34:12kind of in between like the lean the the what do they call the
- 34:15God? I never can the Luhrmann.
- 34:18Lermin. Me.
- 34:18I want to say lemurs, because that's what they are, but
- 34:21they're Lermin. They're like somewhere between
- 34:24the Felucia turtles and the lermin in like, their habitat
- 34:29and stuff. So it's totally Foloni shit.
- 34:31But like, I enjoyed them. That, like, Ezra's been hanging
- 34:34out with a bunch of turtles for a couple of years, 10 years.
- 34:39Yeah, he hasn't shaved. He's he's essentially a
- 34:43bohemian, you know? Yeah, if Obi Wan is Jesus, Ezra
- 34:51is Moses. And I don't mean that SAC
- 34:54religious. I just mean you.
- 34:55If you put two those two pictures up in a in a in a
- 34:58picture frame, yeah, Grandma's not gonna know.
- 35:00And no, I mean he his even his vestments look very similar to
- 35:04what Moses is wearing in his head commandments.
- 35:07So OK, so Speaking of Ezra, how did you like the scene where he
- 35:12builds the lightsaber? I thought it was fine.
- 35:16I liked the the the Ode to Kanan.
- 35:18Yeah, I thought that was neat. And I liked that it was no
- 35:23longer green, it was blue. His color changed.
- 35:25Yeah, that was kind of interesting.
- 35:27Yeah, I liked and I liked how Hu Yang was talking about Kanan.
- 35:32Well, Hu Yang has has parts from decades ago and knowledge from
- 35:38centuries ago. He's a very, he's helpful.
- 35:41I love that Troy Spot. He's awesome.
- 35:43I do too. I'm glad he survived the Purge.
- 35:46Yeah. David Tennant could be my Droid
- 35:47any day. No, I like.
- 35:51I like the Saber. It was nice.
- 35:54I was trying to figure out how they were going to market it.
- 35:57If it looks just like Canaan's, like is Canaan's.
- 36:03It was blue. OK, Yeah.
- 36:05So they're going to look the same.
- 36:07How will they sell it? I'm sure they'll find a way.
- 36:11Where there's a Disney, there's a way.
- 36:14Yes. So yeah, final thoughts on the
- 36:24show, we've come full circle. We saw the preview and all that
- 36:28in London at Celebration and now we're sitting here at the end of
- 36:34the first season. And yeah, final thoughts were
- 36:40the IT is good. Let's not talk about anymore.
- 36:47No, I'm just kidding. I mean, it was, it was good.
- 36:50I just don't want to, like say anything.
- 36:53Yeah, like I enjoyed it. I will say that in typical
- 36:56Felony fashion, the whole first season could have been like one
- 37:00episode and then they could have told the story.
- 37:04We did not get enough Thron. Thron should have entered the
- 37:07scene. The first two episodes of Asoka
- 37:09could have been one, and we could have gotten another
- 37:12episode. Of Thron and I would have been
- 37:15much happier, but as an Anakin fan I couldn't be more pleased
- 37:22and as as a Clone Wars Rebels watcher Asoka lover, it was
- 37:30fine. Nothing spectacular.
- 37:34I'm a little mad about to being having the force that changes.
- 37:38I don't like it, The whole definition of what the Force is
- 37:41and what a Jedi is, and I don't like that at all.
- 37:45Well, we we talked about she's too old to train.
- 37:48If you go off of the rules that were set very strictly for
- 37:51Anakin's case, yeah. And for any of the Jedi from the
- 37:54Republic era, yeah. So either like they're playing
- 37:58with fire, giving her the Force, or all that other stuff was just
- 38:03bullshit. So we'll see, I guess.
- 38:06I'm sure she's not gonna use the Force for bad.
- 38:09I'm sure she's gonna be a Jedi and all you have to do is
- 38:12practice and you'll be fine. If you are close to dying, you
- 38:17can use the force to save yourself, yeah?
- 38:21Like she was being choked out or something.
- 38:24And that's when the lightsaber came to her.
- 38:26Apparently that's all it takes. Is too easy, Too easy, Sorry.
- 38:30A lot of people said that about the show in general.
- 38:33Like, all of it was too easy. It all just kind of like up, up,
- 38:36up, up. There you go.
- 38:37No, no, real. The only obstacles were fighting
- 38:41people who were standing between you and the object you wanted,
- 38:44and you fought them and got the object and then the plot moved
- 38:47on. Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:50It was weak. I would say in general, the
- 38:52storytelling was very weak. The visuals were very beautiful.
- 38:56The music was fucking amazing. Wow.
- 39:00We haven't even talked about it. We gave it credit in previous
- 39:03episodes, but there's nothing bad to say about the music.
- 39:05Yeah, honestly, we could do an episode on Kevin Conner because
- 39:08he did all of Clone Wars. I don't know if he did rebels,
- 39:11but he did. Well, we, we should do an
- 39:14episode on him just because he deserves it.
- 39:17Yeah, because he's fucking incredible.
- 39:19And we saw him. We did.
- 39:21We did. Yay, Maybe we should talk.
- 39:24About what? Oh, if we do, Kevin Conner, we
- 39:27have to do. The OG?
- 39:30What's his name? John Williams.
- 39:32John Williams, Yeah. And I'd really, if we're going
- 39:35to do that, I'd like to do Nicholas Purcell also, who did
- 39:37and or cuz that. Means OK, we'll do a whole music
- 39:39episode. That'd be fun.
- 39:42OK, well, anyway, we'll leave you hanging just like the Asoka
- 39:46show did. See you next time.
- 39:50Just kidding. I didn't say that.
- 39:53Yeah, we can. That's where the music comes in.
- 39:56OK. Hear the music.
- 40:02So we gave you our thoughts. It's time for you to give us
- 40:05yours. What did you think of the finale
- 40:09of the first season of Asoka? Did you think it stuck the
- 40:11landing and it's okay if you did?
- 40:13We're here for all answers. We're here for Yes, Nos and
- 40:16everything in between. So let us know your thoughts.
- 40:18We'd love to hear it. Maybe you saw something we
- 40:20missed. Next week we're going back to
- 40:25Obi One. It's been far, too.
- 40:26Long. Far too long.
- 40:29We are going to pick our top three favorites.
- 40:31Snarky Obi One Moments from The Clone Wars.
- 40:34We're not going to tell each other we're right.
- 40:35We're just going to show up. No.
- 40:36OK, Yep. We're going to show up with
- 40:40three snarky bits. We'll probably have an overlap.
- 40:44How do you even pick three? Yeah, good point.
- 40:47Every line is a snarky comment. Seriously.
- 40:50Well, this will. This will be a challenge.
- 40:52A fun challenge, yes. So I'm looking forward to going
- 40:54back to Obi Wan and Clone Wars and join us back here.
- 40:57It should be pretty fun. Thank you so much for joining us
