- 0:53Speaker 3: And Andrew, we're talking.
- 0:54Speaker 2: About near the challenges of this offensive coordinator job.
- 0:58Speaker 3: We outlined.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Just about everything hurts healthy offensive line. AJ Brown, free agents.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Can you run your scheme? We've also talked about Jeff
- 1:08Speaker 2: and I have talk about our own show. Stout's got
- 1:10Speaker 2: to be the guest. Jeff Stantley, a line coach and
- 1:13Speaker 2: run game Coordinator's got to be in concert with the
- 1:15Speaker 2: new OC.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Sure, because you got to be able.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Whatever runs can we want to run, you've got to
- 1:21Speaker 2: get Stout on board with it.
- 1:22Speaker 3: So that's a challenge.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Show that there's a lot of there's a lot going
- 1:25Speaker 2: on here, Andrew, And again it plays into free agency.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Who's going to be a good fit with a new coordinator?
- 1:31Speaker 3: Who does he want back? Well? For instance, Okay, we
- 1:34Speaker 3: talked about quarterback A J. Jillen. Forget it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: They already have enough running backs. Let's get to let's
- 1:38Speaker 2: get to we talked about AJ Brown. But let's get
- 1:41Speaker 2: to ted end where they're they're barren. You've got A J.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Jenkins who just resigned, and they also have Jahan Bell
- 1:46Speaker 2: and Jahem Bell who's an extreme long shot. Yeah, but
- 1:50Speaker 2: and Kim lat To our guy who's story who showed
- 1:54Speaker 2: he can block.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I wish they'd use him correctly though.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Well, hopefully they maybe revert him back to tight end.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I'm curious to see what they do because they did
- 2:00Speaker 4: sign Carson Steel and we'll see about Van sumerin.
- 2:04Speaker 2: You know, it would be interesting now Steele could play
- 2:07Speaker 2: full back, he could play running back.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Will the new OC want to use a full back.
- 2:11Speaker 2: You never know, because the Eagles did remember here when
- 2:13Speaker 2: Carrie Blasting game was year.
- 2:14Speaker 4: That's right, you know Harry Blasting game.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, who was blocked for Darrik Henry with the Titans
- 2:19Speaker 2: and he came here.
- 2:20Speaker 4: He was teammates with Oaren Burks at Vanderbilt.
- 2:22Speaker 3: There you go, good call by you so big.
- 2:25Speaker 2: The big one is Dallas Godder had a career year
- 2:27Speaker 2: in terms of touchdowns. Just incredible. They finally used him
- 2:30Speaker 2: in the red zone area. This is funny, all of
- 2:32Speaker 2: a sudden they do that. I understand he's thirty one
- 2:36Speaker 2: next week. I get that. But the fact of matter
- 2:39Speaker 2: is he had a great year, relatively injury free. I
- 2:43Speaker 2: think he missed one game doing.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Need yeah, the Chiefs game, yea, yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But overall had a good season as a blocker. It
- 2:50Speaker 2: wasn't quite as good as you usually find from him,
- 2:52Speaker 2: but he's always been a good, very good blocker.
- 2:54Speaker 3: As matter of fact. What are your thoughts about bringing
- 2:57Speaker 3: them back?
- 2:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think because he's thirty one years old, Adam,
- 3:00Speaker 4: and then this is just the way that I'm viewing it.
- 3:02Speaker 4: It would seem like it would play into the Eagles
- 3:03Speaker 4: favor if they want to get him back because I'm
- 3:05Speaker 4: not sure what he would command on the open market,
- 3:08Speaker 4: knowing he does have the injury history, knowing that he
- 3:11Speaker 4: is thirty one years old. Yes, he broke an Eagles
- 3:13Speaker 4: record for most receiving in most touchdowns by a tight end.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Pete Retz laugh, he beat his record. But I think
- 3:20Speaker 4: you also have to take into account his rapport with
- 3:22Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts. That's something that I've talked about for the
- 3:26Speaker 4: past couple of years. Now it's evident in training camp
- 3:28Speaker 4: because he catches more passes from Hurts than any other
- 3:31Speaker 4: player during the summer.
- 3:33Speaker 2: By the way, it's what interests saying it's so funny
- 3:35Speaker 2: because we've been tricked so badly no time working together.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Because what we've used the example of many times of
- 3:41Speaker 2: DeAndre Swift catching like fifty balls in a practice.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Yeah, Will Shipley on the Wills Shipley.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And Will route, Yeah, seeing his quickness in and out
- 3:48Speaker 2: of in and out, but they would never get him
- 3:51Speaker 2: the ball. And then now now this past summer, we
- 3:55Speaker 2: both saw it, God heard and even more than twenty
- 3:58Speaker 2: fourth training camp, Yeah and Hurts hooked up big time.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We're like, all right, we'll just see what happens. We're
- 4:03Speaker 2: culturally optimistic, just that our eyes were right. But it's funny.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It wasn't so much in the pass game, passing game
- 4:09Speaker 2: from the twenty to the twenty. It's inside the twenty
- 4:13Speaker 2: to the point where why didn't they use him in
- 4:14Speaker 2: years passing the red zone like that?
- 4:16Speaker 4: Well, I would say this for all of the vitrol
- 4:20Speaker 4: that Kevin Patulo took this season, some of it warranted,
- 4:23Speaker 4: some that I thought was extreme. He was the only
- 4:25Speaker 4: offensive coordinator that Dallas Goddar had had in his time
- 4:28Speaker 4: here that utilized.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Him in the red zone regularly. Funny how things work out. Also,
- 4:34Speaker 2: Grant Calcaterra free agent, I don't see it. I mean,
- 4:37Speaker 2: he's what what bothered me is too more often they
- 4:40Speaker 2: would use him over Camlot too. And we know Calcaterra,
- 4:43Speaker 2: I know he's gotten a little bit better at it.
- 4:45Speaker 2: He's just Lats is a better blocker. Yeah, I didn't
- 4:48Speaker 2: understand the role that they used him, man Kylin. Grantson
- 4:50Speaker 2: was relegated basically to special teams. He wasn't that movable
- 4:55Speaker 2: tight end, that that f tight end that I think
- 4:56Speaker 2: they thought they were getting. For whatever reason, don't know,
- 4:59Speaker 2: they just didn't use him as that guy I was
- 5:01Speaker 2: hoping they will.
- 5:02Speaker 3: But he's a demon on special teams. He's so fair.
- 5:04Speaker 4: He was actually among the NFL leaders in special teams tackles.
- 5:07Speaker 4: But that's that surely wasn't why they signed him.
- 5:10Speaker 2: No, it was second. I mean, it was part of it,
- 5:12Speaker 2: but it wasn't the main reason. Now the big when
- 5:15Speaker 2: I say this, I'm actually fairly serious about this, a
- 5:18Speaker 2: big free agent, Fred Johnson.
- 5:19Speaker 3: He did a good job.
- 5:21Speaker 2: He showed me because we knew he could play both right,
- 5:23Speaker 2: starting left right and left tackle.
- 5:24Speaker 3: He did. He's a quality backup tackle.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually group Fred Johnson and Brett Toth as
- 5:30Speaker 4: two free agents that they provide depth there. They're probably
- 5:35Speaker 4: going to be I would imagine that it's not going
- 5:38Speaker 4: to be cost prohibitive to to retain them. Was certainly
- 5:41Speaker 4: Brett Toath. But for Fred Johnson, even though he did
- 5:43Speaker 4: start what nine games, I thought he did a solid
- 5:46Speaker 4: job and that you can make an argument that that
- 5:48Speaker 4: was Howie Roseman's best addition. It was over the offseason
- 5:52Speaker 4: because he stepped in and he was pressed into service
- 5:54Speaker 4: for for half the season. So I think you have
- 5:56Speaker 4: to find a way to keep both of those guys
- 5:59Speaker 4: on the you know in house.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So Brett Toath prior to that one start was the Giants.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Second game, Giants was his first game that he started.
- 6:06Speaker 4: The Packers game.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Okay, the good okay, but the oh so it was
- 6:10Speaker 3: the Packers.
- 6:10Speaker 4: He actually started both Giants games. The first Giants game
- 6:13Speaker 4: was left guard, second Giants game was center, and then
- 6:15Speaker 4: that was it. That Packers game was center.
- 6:17Speaker 2: The second Giant game. He was phenomenal. It was one
- 6:21Speaker 2: of these things where where the heck did this come from?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Like Brett Toath, Greg Cosell. I remember Greg, when we
- 6:27Speaker 2: be prior to doing that that week's show, the inside
- 6:30Speaker 2: of the Tavy said, hey, we gotta get tape of
- 6:33Speaker 2: Brett Toaf.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You won't believe this.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He was like, he couldn't believe it what he was
- 6:38Speaker 2: watching because remember he was a tackle by trading. He's
- 6:40Speaker 2: very tall, right, and most tall centers aren't very good
- 6:43Speaker 2: because it's hard from the crouch. He was so athletic
- 6:47Speaker 2: it was insane, Like we he looked like a guy
- 6:50Speaker 2: started there for ten years. Andrew so not that you
- 6:52Speaker 2: want to say guys a a priority.
- 6:55Speaker 3: But I was like, dude, you got to bring this
- 6:57Speaker 3: guy back absolutely.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And Brett is somebody that I've talked to a lot
- 7:02Speaker 4: this season. He puts a lot of pressure on himself
- 7:05Speaker 4: and he recognizes that where his deficiencies lie. But I
- 7:09Speaker 4: think when you look at a story of development entering
- 7:12Speaker 4: year seven, Jeff Stotlin thinks the world of him. He
- 7:14Speaker 4: went out there, he was very technically sound, the pin
- 7:17Speaker 4: and pull blocks against the Giants, where he's getting to
- 7:19Speaker 4: the second level, believable moving well. I just was really
- 7:22Speaker 4: happy for him because he's he's had to overcome a
- 7:24Speaker 4: lot in his career and and I think he answered
- 7:27Speaker 4: a lot of the a lot of the skeptics out
- 7:29Speaker 4: there that he can at least, at the at bare minimum,
- 7:31Speaker 4: be a high quality backup that they can rely.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Remember he can play guard, center and tackle. That that's like.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Who can get That's that's invaluable and good.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Give him credit for stick because we know how many
- 7:41Speaker 2: staffs he would put over hurts his head over the years.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He got it.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Look, I would I have no idea why Staltlin stood
- 7:48Speaker 2: by him this long.
- 7:49Speaker 3: You got to give style credit.
- 7:50Speaker 4: That that's like and I know for highly intelligently.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I I know that they they I think I believe
- 7:56Speaker 2: they might have known each other for some reason. I
- 7:57Speaker 2: know Stout had an insight on Brette, maybe scouted him.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I don't know, but I know for a fact that
- 8:02Speaker 2: there's a part of why Toad signed with the Eagles
- 8:05Speaker 2: is because of Stout and not just an incredible stick
- 8:09Speaker 2: tun us by this guy.
- 8:10Speaker 3: I mean, he could have been out of the league.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I mean he's around twenty nine to thirty, right.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I think he's twenty nine. Yeah, But everybody that I've
- 8:16Speaker 4: talked to, Jordan Mailatta primarily has just lauded Brett Toath
- 8:20Speaker 4: for his intelligence, calling him one of the smartest guys.
- 8:24Speaker 4: He called him like big brain bread or something like that.
- 8:27Speaker 4: And so I joy.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Listened to his interviews. Yeah, Tooth's pretty good.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think he did a nice job really
- 8:32Speaker 4: starting to settle in there and and take on a
- 8:35Speaker 4: much more prominent role.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And then Matt Prior Matt Pryor when they signed and
- 8:39Speaker 2: people kind of rolled their us. But he did start
- 8:41Speaker 2: a bunch of games over the years for the Bears
- 8:42Speaker 2: and Bengals.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Yeah, he played over a thousand snaps last season at
- 8:45Speaker 4: guard for the Bears, I believe, and it.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Just he didn't look great. Also, offensively is our guy?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Would now we say offensively he actual me special teams,
- 8:54Speaker 2: Braidon Man, who what what a what an acquisition? And
- 8:58Speaker 2: Braida on our show sitting sitting at Chickis and Roosevelt Boulevard,
- 9:02Speaker 2: that story about how the Jets kind of held him hostage,
- 9:05Speaker 2: they wouldn't tell him kind of what they were going
- 9:07Speaker 2: to do with them. And then of course he went
- 9:09Speaker 2: to the Steelers. The Steelers had to make a decision
- 9:11Speaker 2: or they going to cut him. They to keep him
- 9:13Speaker 2: and give Howie Roseman credit. This is a guy that
- 9:15Speaker 2: he wanted. Braid Man's been a great story.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, unbelievable season from Brayden. I thought he was snubbed
- 9:21Speaker 4: from either an All Pro or a Pro Bowl list.
- 9:23Speaker 4: That was just me my thoughts. But had a career
- 9:27Speaker 4: high in average ars per punt, tied a career a
- 9:30Speaker 4: career along with the seventy yard punt, had twenty punts
- 9:32Speaker 4: inside the twenty, and he bailed out an offense that
- 9:36Speaker 4: was static for most of the season and really helped
- 9:38Speaker 4: control the field position battle. So I think if you're
- 9:41Speaker 4: the Eagles, you have to find a way to bring
- 9:43Speaker 4: him back, and he wants to be back. Because I
- 9:44Speaker 4: spoke to him during locker clean out. So we'll see
- 9:47Speaker 4: if they're able to make it work.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And contract extension eligible. The one on offensive, Tyler Steen. Now,
- 9:52Speaker 2: the question now for him is not extending his contract,
- 9:55Speaker 2: is even going to start a right guard going forward?
- 9:57Speaker 3: He was very up and down.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought he was okay. I didn't think he
- 10:01Speaker 4: was a detriment. I didn't think he was stellar, but
- 10:05Speaker 4: he's passable. I think you can get by with someone
- 10:07Speaker 4: like that. So I don't know that I would I
- 10:09Speaker 4: would extend him right now, but he's somebody that I
- 10:11Speaker 4: do believe can be a starting caliber lineman if you
- 10:14Speaker 4: surround him with a healthier supporting cast.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I would try to resign Goddard even even if they
- 10:21Speaker 2: get him back.
- 10:23Speaker 3: It shouldn't.
- 10:23Speaker 2: It's not going to preclude them from drafting the tight
- 10:25Speaker 2: end earlier because Goddard to me, is on a one
- 10:27Speaker 2: year deal with it at thirty one years old. With
- 10:29Speaker 2: his injury history, you just can't. You can't commit to
- 10:33Speaker 2: him past one season. But I absolutely would look to
- 10:35Speaker 2: bring him back. They have nothing at the ted end
- 10:37Speaker 2: position in terms of starting. No one's ready to start.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Latsu should have been used way more as their why
- 10:43Speaker 2: tend these and more as an offset fullback, which was
- 10:45Speaker 2: a mistake. That's part of the that was as small
- 10:48Speaker 2: as that seems as a mistake to me that hurt
- 10:50Speaker 2: their run game. That was Stout's got to get together
- 10:54Speaker 2: with Jason Michael and whoever and say, listen, this is
- 10:59Speaker 2: this is like they have to do their own self, Scout,
- 11:02Speaker 2: that's something have to be better with. It's a small
- 11:04Speaker 2: thing that could have been a big thing, because look,
- 11:05Speaker 2: Barkley's numbers were way down last season.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I think looking back, two injuries that we probably
- 11:10Speaker 4: didn't talk enough about were Ben Vansumer, who got hurt
- 11:14Speaker 4: on the first play of the season on the opening kickoff,
- 11:16Speaker 4: and Johnny Wilson got rolled up on in training camp.
- 11:19Speaker 4: He did the dirty, grimy work blocking, freeing up teammates
- 11:22Speaker 4: and things like that, and then they had big plans
- 11:24Speaker 4: for Ben van Sumer and both players were out before
- 11:27Speaker 4: the season really got underway, so that that may have helped,
- 11:30Speaker 4: you know, initiate a better run game in hindsight.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Now on the other side, we're going to go over
- 11:35Speaker 2: their free agent lists on defense, which is very extensive
- 11:38Speaker 2: kind of where we think this could be headed and
- 11:40Speaker 2: also guys who could have their contract extended. The second

- 15:28Speaker 1: Football Report presented by BCWSA. Once again, here are your
- 15:34Speaker 1: hosts from Inside the Birds Adam Kaplan and Andrew did
- 15:38Speaker 1: check O.
- 15:40Speaker 2: All right, everyone, welcome back to the Pro Football Report
- 15:43Speaker 2: presented by bcw essay on fourteen ninety WBCB and one
- 15:47Speaker 2: oh seven three FM and also seen live at w
- 15:50Speaker 2: bcbsports dot com. It's Adam Kaplan Andrew de Checko. I'm
- 15:54Speaker 2: inside the Bird, so Andrew. So we went over the
- 15:56Speaker 2: Eagles fragent list. Offensively, let's get let's get to defense.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Jalen Phillips did a nice job. I know people who
- 16:03Speaker 2: get obsessed with sacks. Yes, he didn't have a big
- 16:06Speaker 2: sack number, pressure rate, really really good outstanding versus run.
- 16:10Speaker 3: He's so long and he stayed healthy with the Eagle.
- 16:13Speaker 4: He's very physical, and he sets the edge with violence
- 16:17Speaker 4: and authority, and I think there's no coincidence that his
- 16:19Speaker 4: arrival coincided with Jayalox's hunt really starting to turn the
- 16:22Speaker 4: corner and reap the benefits of playing alongside someone who
- 16:26Speaker 4: can be a headliner. I think that's really the important
- 16:28Speaker 4: distinction here, Adham, is that Jalen Phillips is the There's
- 16:32Speaker 4: no question that he is the frontline player of that group,
- 16:35Speaker 4: and I think everything that he said suggests that he
- 16:38Speaker 4: wants to be here. He seemed really happy to be
- 16:40Speaker 4: in Philadelphia. But now it's going to be up to
- 16:42Speaker 4: the decision makers to try and make that happen. But
- 16:45Speaker 4: I think that he should be a priority for sure.
- 16:47Speaker 3: I would agree with you, josh Uche. I know you
- 16:49Speaker 3: got to know him.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I like josh Uche Selfishly, I'd love for him
- 16:52Speaker 4: to come back because I enjoy talking to him. But
- 16:54Speaker 4: I think for his career it would make a lot
- 16:57Speaker 4: more sense for him to go to a place where
- 16:58Speaker 4: he's going to be more value and be more or
- 17:00Speaker 4: of a have more of a role as a pass rusher,
- 17:02Speaker 4: because that's openly what he wants to do. Get back
- 17:04Speaker 4: to rushing quarterbacks.
- 17:06Speaker 3: He did a good job. We forget like he did
- 17:08Speaker 3: a really good job.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I thought he did it really good job for.
- 17:10Speaker 2: The little they let him play, and then he just
- 17:11Speaker 2: became special teams player and then that was it pretty
- 17:14Speaker 2: much it for him. So Josh Uche obviously probably would
- 17:17Speaker 2: be somewhere else about Conker got hurt.
- 17:20Speaker 3: He did, he didn't really.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I saw him a Was he wearing a brace or
- 17:24Speaker 4: is he no? No, no, he said he He said
- 17:26Speaker 4: he was back to full streight.
- 17:27Speaker 2: For him, man, good for free, it's good for good
- 17:29Speaker 2: for him. Now here's a question. Beg showed he could.
- 17:32Speaker 2: He played a little bit more than we expected.
- 17:34Speaker 3: He looked good.
- 17:35Speaker 2: You know, it was kind of hard for him mid
- 17:36Speaker 2: season to do this. He hasn't he hasn't fully retired again,
- 17:40Speaker 2: he's not sure what he's going to do.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Would you take him back?
- 17:43Speaker 4: Because I think it's I think it's time to move forward.
- 17:47Speaker 4: And also, if you're Brandon Graham, do you really want
- 17:48Speaker 4: to go through the grind of training camp and all
- 17:50Speaker 4: that over and over.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Yeah, he doesn't have to make decision now, but I'm
- 17:53Speaker 2: just saying overall, yeah, yeah, I there's at this point
- 17:58Speaker 2: settle down man, stay hell had it. You're gonna be
- 18:01Speaker 2: an Eagles Hall of Fame, no question about it. What
- 18:03Speaker 2: a great all time Eagle.
- 18:03Speaker 4: And a great story coming back and making an impact,
- 18:06Speaker 4: a good job transitioning inside, playing some some interior interior
- 18:11Speaker 4: defensive line.
- 18:12Speaker 2: In fact, it wasn't because he was actually literally lining
- 18:15Speaker 2: up a tackle. Wasn't just because when he did it
- 18:18Speaker 2: in years pastor with Jim Schwartz, it wasn't really as
- 18:21Speaker 2: a tackle. So he was actually lining up more inside.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Is that really interesting? Because remember he's really he's listed
- 18:28Speaker 2: six to two, he's more like six foot one half
- 18:30Speaker 2: inch or six to one. Yeah, he doesn't have the
- 18:31Speaker 2: long starms in the world, but he's super strong and physical.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Dizzo Julari didn't have a great train of camp. Showed
- 18:37Speaker 2: a little bit before he got hurt. Then they put
- 18:39Speaker 2: him on desidation for return late. Don't see him returning.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It was a lot of money for one year. It
- 18:44Speaker 2: was just under five million.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Didn't quite get there, didn't quite get there.
- 18:48Speaker 4: But the cupboard is really barren at Edge Rusher.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's a big part.
- 18:51Speaker 4: If the price is right, you would think that you
- 18:53Speaker 4: want to at least bring somebody back to absorb reps
- 18:55Speaker 4: in training camp, someone who has some experience and and
- 18:58Speaker 4: maybe a little bit of upside if if you if
- 19:00Speaker 4: you're comparing that to maybe a Day three pick or something.
- 19:03Speaker 2: So let the edge Russ group, Okay, after we just
- 19:06Speaker 2: got this done so under contract, not very much. It's
- 19:09Speaker 2: it's Nolan Smith who had a disappointing season, It's Jayson
- 19:12Speaker 2: who had a breakout season. And other than that, I
- 19:18Speaker 2: mean they didn't they really did not use Johaan Kimpbell
- 19:21Speaker 2: as an edge rusher. They use him as an added
- 19:23Speaker 2: in defender against the run. The tape show he really
- 19:26Speaker 2: was not an edgrusher. They have a lot of work.
- 19:28Speaker 2: They need to add three guys.
- 19:29Speaker 4: There, three easily, and Johi Campbell's going to be out
- 19:32Speaker 4: of the equation for that, especially if they don't bring
- 19:33Speaker 4: back the Kobe Dean. Yeah, because he'll be plying alongside
- 19:37Speaker 4: Zach Bond.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And Kobe Deane as we get the linebacker, he's the
- 19:41Speaker 2: one who's up. I know the fans are obsessed with Dean.
- 19:45Speaker 2: They love him, and we get it. He's a great
- 19:47Speaker 2: what an unbelievable medical story.
- 19:49Speaker 4: And and a great tremendous person.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Super Super high Football IQ, great story development, two major
- 19:56Speaker 2: injuries back to back the list Frank rupture, then the
- 19:59Speaker 2: term of tell A ten and back to back seasons
- 20:01Speaker 2: medical marvel. But joh Hot Campbell they traded up for
- 20:04Speaker 2: in the first round, He's got to be the guy.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I'm just sorry they don't play got folks. They're not
- 20:09Speaker 2: playing a forty three where you play three linebackers. They
- 20:10Speaker 2: didn't play two.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, and Nikobe deane tone setter. I viewed him
- 20:14Speaker 4: as the heartbeat of the defense. He's gonna provide a
- 20:17Speaker 4: lot of value elsewhere, I would imagine. I have a
- 20:19Speaker 4: hard time envisioning it would be here in Philadelphia. It's
- 20:21Speaker 4: a luxury to have three starting caliber off ball linebackers,
- 20:24Speaker 4: not a necessity. And they drafted Jahi Campbell in the
- 20:26Speaker 4: first round. Will ja High Campbell be able to set
- 20:29Speaker 4: the tone like the Kobe and attack downhill and all that.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 20:32Speaker 4: We're gonna find out, but I don't. I don't think
- 20:34Speaker 4: that they have a player quite like Nikobe on the roster.
- 20:37Speaker 3: All right, at cornerback. Let's go to the secondary.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Dorty Jackson did a yeoman's job, got off to the
- 20:41Speaker 2: rough start against Dallas. Eventually the teams weren't thrown to
- 20:44Speaker 2: him Adam for two months. Then he kind of held
- 20:47Speaker 2: up and then it got a little dicey late.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Nice story.
- 20:52Speaker 2: If he wants to come as a backup for like
- 20:56Speaker 2: he got just over a million the season, I give
- 20:59Speaker 2: him million million and a half be a backup. But
- 21:00Speaker 2: I'm drafting. I'm drafting another starter, or I'm moving Cooper
- 21:04Speaker 2: to Gina corner. I know fans don't want to do that.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I'm just saying what the options could be.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yeah, selfishly kind of along the lines of Josh Uche,
- 21:10Speaker 4: I would bring a Dori Jackson back if for no
- 21:12Speaker 4: other reason to be maybe that Isaiah Rodgers third corner
- 21:15Speaker 4: roll third outside corner provides some veteran depth and maybe
- 21:18Speaker 4: mentor younger players. Should they draft one in April.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And then with Red blanket Ship when we go to safety,
- 21:25Speaker 2: it's him and Marcus EPs are up Blanketship. He's the
- 21:29Speaker 2: leader of the secondary in terms of setting everything up.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Not a great athlete, it does show up at times. Andrew,
- 21:34Speaker 2: what are your thoughts in him?
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he's just a little bit too limited
- 21:38Speaker 4: from a coverage standpoint. A great story vic Vangio loves him.
- 21:42Speaker 4: He's sort of that traffic cop back there. Ensures everybody's
- 21:44Speaker 4: being assignment sound. But I think you need to improve
- 21:48Speaker 4: a little bit more athletically there and pair somebody like
- 21:51Speaker 4: that with Drew mccoop.
- 21:52Speaker 2: So m Drew mcoop will be one of the starters.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And then the question is Apps's contract is up. He's
- 21:58Speaker 2: a backup. He did a good job, he had a start,
- 21:59Speaker 2: but he more of a backup. Sydney Brown is not
- 22:01Speaker 2: a starter. Well, he is is a special teams player.
- 22:03Speaker 2: That one was a miss. Now this is another thing
- 22:06Speaker 2: to watch out with Cooper Degene If fic Fangio decides,
- 22:11Speaker 2: you know his future is not at Nickel. Safety is
- 22:14Speaker 2: in the is in the books there, and that will
- 22:16Speaker 2: actually play in because this is a conversation how he's
- 22:18Speaker 2: got to be having with vict end the season. Okay,
- 22:20Speaker 2: where are we lining them up? Because this this impacts
- 22:22Speaker 2: our roster. I got to know whether I'm going to
- 22:25Speaker 2: approach reblanket ship with with a contract or if I'm not,
- 22:29Speaker 2: what is our plan?
- 22:30Speaker 4: Right? You have to have a plan because we talked
- 22:32Speaker 4: about Edge Rusher. Well, they don't have a lot there
- 22:34Speaker 4: as safety either, nope.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Now contract extension eligible. These are bit It's a lot
- 22:40Speaker 2: of them. On defense. Moro Jomo, He's now played three seasons,
- 22:44Speaker 2: really good season, solid football player, completely different Milton. Milton's
- 22:49Speaker 2: is more of a power player, which almost a speed
- 22:51Speaker 2: up upfield, great first step win rate, very very good,
- 22:56Speaker 2: good football player. He's eligible. Jalen Carter. That one's going
- 23:00Speaker 2: to be big.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Now.
- 23:01Speaker 2: The thing is with Drew Rosenhaus, his agent, and Howie,
- 23:06Speaker 2: they've done a ton of deals together.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Eagles. No, his medical history.
- 23:10Speaker 2: He's kept the off the field stuff in check, but
- 23:13Speaker 2: he's got a medical history now.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Jalen Carter, That one will be interesting.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Jordan Davis major breakout season, Beagles smartly how he did.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I didn't agree with it at the time, but I
- 23:23Speaker 2: get why they did it. It was actually smart because
- 23:26Speaker 2: this is why they did it. If he had a
- 23:27Speaker 2: breakout season, which he did and they can't get extension done,
- 23:31Speaker 2: they got him for twenty seven and they don't have
- 23:33Speaker 2: to worry about it.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Yeah, well this I think that Jomo should be a priority.
- 23:37Speaker 4: To answer your question, oh you would get O Jobo?
- 23:39Speaker 3: Now, who would? Okay?
- 23:41Speaker 2: When you look at Carter, Ojomo and Davis how would
- 23:45Speaker 2: you because.
- 23:45Speaker 4: You don't have to do Yeah, you don't. I guess
- 23:48Speaker 4: I would do Carter first. But you also have questions
- 23:50Speaker 4: about the shoulders right right, right, right, something he's probably
- 23:54Speaker 4: gonna have to revisit in the off season. He admitted
- 23:56Speaker 4: as much when he was returning from the shoulders injury.
- 24:00Speaker 2: It's true, Davis, this will be his fifth year. This
- 24:03Speaker 2: is coming up his fifth year, option year. Carter this
- 24:05Speaker 2: will be his fourth year. Boy, I cannot believe Jordan
- 24:08Speaker 2: Davis will be in his fifth year. So Jeff and
- 24:10Speaker 2: I in twenty twenty two we were at the Maxwell
- 24:13Speaker 2: Club Awards in Atlantic City. I mean, I'm not saying
- 24:17Speaker 2: you wait for I would know. But he looked about
- 24:19Speaker 2: three seventy five, three eighty when we saw him. When
- 24:21Speaker 2: I saw him this year's training campbell Like, where did
- 24:23Speaker 2: his stomach go? It was crazy. He could have found
- 24:27Speaker 2: his jersey. He lost so much weight.
- 24:29Speaker 4: He lost a lot of weight. He put that help
- 24:30Speaker 4: seriously and you could see the motor that he had. Now,
- 24:33Speaker 4: there is one player who I wouldn't extend that's on
- 24:35Speaker 4: your list there, and that would be Nolan Smith.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I wouldn't do. You can't.
- 24:39Speaker 2: It's about cast justification. There's nothing to justify extending this contract.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Why would you do it? He hasn't done enough to
- 24:47Speaker 2: warrant that, where clearly Davis has, Ojomo has, and Carter has.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Now the next question is, let's say Vic FANGI over
- 24:55Speaker 2: the next couple of years, Joe Casper got promoted to
- 24:57Speaker 2: DB'ST coach, which is what we expected. A are they
- 25:02Speaker 2: gonna still run vic scheme in two or three years,
- 25:04Speaker 2: Because if you're going to extend Ojomo and Carter and
- 25:07Speaker 2: Davis over the next two years are probably almost certain
- 25:09Speaker 2: to both get all three get extended, whether yes to
- 25:12Speaker 2: this year, one, next year, or vice versa, Are you
- 25:15Speaker 2: gonna run that scheme in the future, because that that
- 25:17Speaker 2: doesn't matter because in Green Bay they have to make
- 25:22Speaker 2: a decision what scheme they're gonna run. Well, that impacts
- 25:25Speaker 2: Lucas van Ness. Van Ness was drafted for the thirty four.
- 25:28Speaker 2: They ran it one year, and then Joe Barry is fired,
- 25:32Speaker 2: and then Jeff Haffley runs at forty three. He doesn't
- 25:34Speaker 2: have a home there. He doesn't fit their scheme right,
- 25:36Speaker 2: and we have that's important. You bring up a really
- 25:38Speaker 2: good point.
- 25:39Speaker 4: We have no way of knowing but all we can
- 25:40Speaker 4: go off of is that they had an infatuation with
- 25:42Speaker 4: the Fangio style before they got the real deal.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and Howie and Nick were aligned with that.
- 25:48Speaker 2: They both liked it and that was a heck of
- 25:51Speaker 2: a get and their relationship with Vic Andrew absolutely played
- 25:55Speaker 2: a part into it. So to me, I would look
- 25:58Speaker 2: hard at Jalen Phillips if his agency is willing to
- 26:02Speaker 2: be reasonable.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Now, if he wants multiple years, Let's say he wants.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Like three years, well, well let's say.
- 26:08Speaker 2: He wants three years, but two years fully guaranteed it,
- 26:11Speaker 2: let's say twenty million year.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I'm going to say, thank.
- 26:13Speaker 4: You, seea yeah, thanks all the memories.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the second year I'm worried about. It's the
- 26:18Speaker 2: second year with it. He's had Achilles and acl That
- 26:21Speaker 2: does worry me. But I'm absolutely looking at him. And again,
- 26:25Speaker 2: Nakobe Dean, if Campbell wasn't here, that's not even a question.
- 26:29Speaker 3: You're gonna do everything you can. Now.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Nakobe Dean change agencies this past summer. I believe he
- 26:34Speaker 2: went with Mike McCartney, former Eagles Pro personnel director. That's right, right,
- 26:38Speaker 2: He's got Kirk Cousins. Of note and several veteran players,
- 26:43Speaker 2: but that and Howie and Mike have known each other forever,
- 26:47Speaker 2: so that will be an interesting negotiation.
- 26:49Speaker 3: But it's hard for him. I just very hard for folks.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You can't pay everybody and you got to justify that
- 26:55Speaker 2: jahat Campbell Pick. So that'll be very very interesting. By
- 26:57Speaker 2: the way, next week we will be a chicky het
- 27:00Speaker 2: at Parks Casino and Ben Salem PA. This has been
- 27:04Speaker 2: the Pro Football Report, presented by BCWSA right here at
- 27:07Speaker 2: fourteen ninety WBCB and one of seven three.
- 27:10Speaker 3: FM, and also seen live.
- 27:11Speaker 2: At wbcbsports dot com. It's Andrew Checko, It's Adam Kaplan,
- 27:17Speaker 2: and we'll see you next week.
