- 0:01Speaker 1: Hannah, good morning. You're on the air. Thanks for holding.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hi.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 0:07Speaker 2: So I will tell you guys that I worked at
- 0:09Speaker 2: a funeral home before. And one of the biggest open secrets,
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm doing air quotes, was that families don't always get
- 0:18Speaker 2: the ashes they think they're getting.
- 0:19Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 0:22Speaker 4: So we have these huge dents of ashes from cremations.
- 0:27Speaker 4: And everything had to be labeled and There was this
- 0:32Speaker 4: one guy that was, like, so careless with the paperwork
- 0:34Speaker 4: that we just, like, we had this whole system of
- 0:36Speaker 4: double-checking his work because I.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Thought it was important, you know? And then this one time,
- 0:40Speaker 2: I swear, he just hands a family an urn. And
- 0:44Speaker 2: then I recognized the name on the paperwork as someone
- 0:46Speaker 2: who had been created, like, sorry, keep saying created.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Created?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Like, yeah, the opposite of created.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Like, days earlier. And we asked him about it, and
- 0:57Speaker 2: he was just like, they're all ashes and shrugs. Um,
- 1:02Speaker 2: and yeah, I quit, you know, not too long after
- 1:05Speaker 2: that because I just couldn't stop thinking about, like, families
- 1:09Speaker 2: going home thinking they had grandma when they might have had, like, Bob.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, it's not like anybody's going to DNA
- 1:17Speaker 5: test the ashes.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:18Speaker 3: How could you? And what's disturbing about that, like, wasn't
- 1:21Speaker 3: it just Suge Knight was talking about how when Tupac
- 1:24Speaker 3: passed away that they all smoked his ashes? So imagine
- 1:27Speaker 3: you think you're smoking your homeboy, but really you're smoking
- 1:29Speaker 3: some rando. Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 4: For sure.
- 1:32Speaker 5: It's so funny you bring this up because I actually
- 1:34Speaker 5: saw this like Reddit thread about this and some of
- 1:36Speaker 5: them were pretty shocking.
- 1:38Speaker 1: They were like just asking what.
- 1:40Speaker 5: The industry secrets are that that people probably should know
- 1:44Speaker 5: or wouldn't want to know about your job. And it
- 1:46Speaker 5: was like a former hotel cleaner just wrote the way
- 1:49Speaker 5: the rooms are cleaned.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Boy, oh boy.
- 1:51Speaker 5: And I'm like, no, no, no, no. You think they
- 1:56Speaker 5: are clean, but they're not really clean.
- 1:58Speaker 3: They kind of already give you the heebie-jeebies as it is.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah, and then someone at a thrift store, which kind
- 2:03Speaker 5: of goes along with the eerie vibes of what you said,
- 2:07Speaker 5: someone at a thrift store said a surprisingly large portion
- 2:10Speaker 5: of their inventory comes from.
- 2:11Speaker 1: People who have died.
- 2:12Speaker 5: They're like dead people's clothes. People don't really think about
- 2:16Speaker 5: that when you go in there.
- 2:17Speaker 6: I want to follow up something. Oh, I think about it. Hannah,
- 2:21Speaker 6: let me re-say what I think you said. You said
- 2:22Speaker 6: you worked at a funeral home, and a lot of
- 2:24Speaker 6: times the ashes get all screwed up. That's what you're.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Saying, right?
- 2:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but here's the thing. I also chatted with some
- 2:31Speaker 2: other people in the industry, and apparently this is not uncommon.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Okay, well, here's what I would get at.
- 2:38Speaker 6: On the line is our former John Jane Rich employee,
- 2:41Speaker 6: Grant Inman, who grew up in the funeral business.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And I've got to get his opinion on this. Grant.
- 2:49Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 2:50Speaker 7: Are you okay?
- 2:52Speaker 3: Are you making.
- 2:52Speaker 7: Love right now? The only time I use my phone
- 2:56Speaker 7: is to talk to John Shane Rich, so I apologize.
- 2:59Speaker 3: What's going on, fellas?
- 3:00Speaker 6: We had Hannah on the phone, and she was telling
- 3:02Speaker 6: us an industry trade secret, and she said that she
- 3:06Speaker 6: used to work at a funeral home, and a lot
- 3:08Speaker 6: of times the ashes get all mixed up, and I
- 3:10Speaker 6: feel that that's got to be against the law, and
- 3:12Speaker 6: you grew up in the funeral business, so can you
- 3:14Speaker 6: confirm that that happens or doesn't happen?
- 3:16Speaker 8: Brother, I may have mixed up a few set of ashes.
- 3:21Speaker 1: There you see? It's an industry statement.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Everyone in the industry knows.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Then I believe it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's a granted hand of faith. We miss you, Grant.
- 3:34Speaker 3: You're getting something. You're getting value for your dollar. You're
- 3:36Speaker 3: getting ashes.
- 3:37Speaker 1: What did you pay for?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Ashes.
- 3:40Speaker 7: And the other thing that people don't realize is a
- 3:42Speaker 7: lot of times, or a fair amount of times, people
- 3:45Speaker 7: will get cremated and then their family will just leave the,
- 3:49Speaker 7: the cremated remains at the funeral home. So there, there
- 3:54Speaker 7: is just in, in the funeral home I worked at,
- 3:55Speaker 7: we had a cabinet that went to the ceiling, Florida ceiling,
- 3:59Speaker 7: and it was just filled with cremains from, I mean, back,
- 4:03Speaker 7: we had some from back in the seventies where people
- 4:06Speaker 7: just left their, their family member at the funeral home.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Oh, you just kept them thinking they would come back
- 4:10Speaker 3: like a, like storage room.
- 4:13Speaker 7: Yeah, pretty much. Literally, you store your cremains.
- 4:16Speaker 3: If we ever ran into a position where we needed cremains,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I doubt we'd ever give them those.
- 4:29Speaker 1: All right.
- 4:29Speaker 6: Well, I knew that now that I just had to
- 4:31Speaker 6: have a verification from you because I knew you grew
- 4:33Speaker 6: up in the business.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Thank you, Grant Inman. Thank you for being on our program.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 4:37Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:38Speaker 7: And, you know, I'll listen offline now.
- 4:40Speaker 1: OK, thank you. All right. Hannah, how about that? Hannah,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you're not alone. Thanks for sharing that with us, Hannah.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Thank you, guys.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Kyle, you're saying there's other secrets. The house cleaner's got secrets.
- 4:55Speaker 6: The thrift store people have secrets. Let's hear some industry secrets.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Snitch them out. I used to hang out with a
- 5:02Speaker 3: friend who managed general manager of a very big chicken
- 5:06Speaker 3: place known for their wings. I'll say that. And they
- 5:09Speaker 3: would strip the breading off the wings at night, just
- 5:13Speaker 3: stick them back in the freezer.
- 5:13Speaker 4: 877-937-1047.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Your industry secrets next with John A. Rich.
- 5:32Speaker 6: So we found out earlier that for sure at a
- 5:35Speaker 6: funeral home, a lot of times ashes are mixed together
- 5:38Speaker 6: with different people.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So we wanted to hear some secrets from your industry. Clive,
- 5:43Speaker 1: good morning.
- 5:45Speaker 8: What's up, man?
- 5:45Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Good. What do you do for a living?
- 5:47Speaker 8: I'm a filmmaker.
- 5:49Speaker 1: A filmmaker? Okay. So you've got some secrets? Secrets of
- 5:53Speaker 1: the film business?
- 5:54Speaker 8: Well, you know, a lot of the movies that you see,
- 5:59Speaker 8: they'll say it's false and not real, but it actually does,
- 6:02Speaker 8: you know, come from a true place. One of them
- 6:04Speaker 8: that I could think of right off the bat is,
- 6:06Speaker 8: have you seen the movie National Treasure Book of Secrets? Yes.
- 6:10Speaker 3: What do you mean? That's crazy, Pence.
- 6:15Speaker 8: The story behind that is it's one city of gold
- 6:18Speaker 8: that's hidden and was covered up by Mount Rushmore. The
- 6:21Speaker 8: true story is it's actually seven of them. And they
- 6:24Speaker 8: are found, or some of them have been said to
- 6:27Speaker 8: have been here in Arizona and New Mexico.
- 6:29Speaker 3: The cities of gold?
- 6:31Speaker 8: The seven cities of gold, also known as Sibula Equivera.
- 6:34Speaker 8: They're actually, they were, I mean, that's why the Spanish
- 6:37Speaker 8: conquistadors came here in the first place. They were looking
- 6:40Speaker 8: for the seven cities of gold. And where Marcos Diniz's
- 6:43Speaker 8: high school is, it said that that is where he stood.
- 6:46Speaker 8: That is the exact location where he stood, where he
- 6:49Speaker 8: said he saw the seven cities of gold.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Interesting. Could it have been like heat stroke? Was he
- 6:54Speaker 1: here in the summertime?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Didn't they have scurvy and stuff coming over on those
- 6:57Speaker 3: boats too?
- 7:01Speaker 6: I had heard, I think it was when I was
- 7:02Speaker 6: a kid, and it's probably true, but it was in
- 7:04Speaker 6: Mexico City. Like that city was built of gold. There's
- 7:08Speaker 6: underneath that city, there's gold.
- 7:10Speaker 8: That's why they, once again, that's why they came over here.
- 7:14Speaker 8: Like if you're familiar with the Lost Dutchman, the Peralta Mines, hell,
- 7:19Speaker 8: you could even go to Brophy right there on Central
- 7:22Speaker 8: and Highlands. If you look at that church that's right
- 7:25Speaker 8: there on Highland, the three figures on top is St. Francis,
- 7:29Speaker 8: it's Father Rojos, and then Esteban Quino. Quino, Father Quino,
- 7:34Speaker 8: based out of Tucson, it said that he was the
- 7:38Speaker 8: last person that I could think of that was actually
- 7:40Speaker 8: shown one of the seven cities of gold that was
- 7:43Speaker 8: supposedly in the Superstition Mountains.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Why do I feel like, John Jay, your aunt used
- 7:47Speaker 3: to talk about Father Keto? Am I wrong?
- 7:49Speaker 1: There's a little town called Magdalena, which I've been to
- 7:52Speaker 1: many times.
- 7:52Speaker 6: And in Magdalena, you can go and you look through
- 7:55Speaker 6: this glass and you can see Father Keto's buried there.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And you see his bones. You see his skeleton.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Okay, so they have talked about it.
- 8:01Speaker 6: Father Kino, yeah, it's a big thing. Every time you
- 8:02Speaker 6: go to my family's from a little town called Santana,
- 8:05Speaker 6: and to get to Santana, you have to go through Magdalena,
- 8:07Speaker 6: where my sister was born in Magdalena. And you go there,
- 8:09Speaker 6: and you can see Father Kino's bones. So he was
- 8:11Speaker 6: a very famous priest back in the day.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Well, that's wild, eh?
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Also, apparently they're just putting schools on top of these
- 8:17Speaker 5: gold cities.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up with that? Is that why Brophy's so expensive?
- 8:22Speaker 8: If you ever heard of the Rico Mine, they built
- 8:25Speaker 8: the Rico Mine Elementary literally right above the mine in
- 8:29Speaker 8: that area where the 51 curves and goes North, they
- 8:33Speaker 8: built the 51 to cover up the mine because it
- 8:35Speaker 8: was so toxic. They couldn't cover it with anything else. So,
- 8:39Speaker 8: I mean, who knows what actually, you know, underneath, you know, our,
- 8:43Speaker 8: our feet right underneath our noses. I think that's why,
- 8:46Speaker 8: I think that's why the education system here, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 8: Arizona's ranked last because they don't want kids picking up
- 8:52Speaker 8: metal detectors and, you know, finding stuff out in the desert.
- 8:56Speaker 8: It kind of, I.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Never made that connection. And still don't, actually.
- 9:02Speaker 1: That's why, yeah, Riley.
- 9:04Speaker 6: California is number one in education because they let those
- 9:06Speaker 6: kids get those metal detectors.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And go out. They go out. That's the problem. All right, Clive.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Clive, that was a very interesting take on what we
- 9:16Speaker 6: were talking about, but the industry secrets, and you've got
- 9:18Speaker 6: the industry secrets of the film business.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So thank you very much, dude. Thanks for calling in.
- 9:22Speaker 8: You guys have a good day.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Thank you.
