- 0:40I'm going to say if you haven't already, make sure it's download
- 0:42my free Autism Life Hacks PDF book available at
- 0:45autismhacks.net right now. Boom.
- 0:49Improving lives, one PDF download at a time.
- 0:52Super awesome guys. So hope you guys are doing
- 0:55awesome, doing great and having a fantastic day.
- 0:57I wanted to make this video because I don't talk about
- 0:59children on the spectrum all that much.
- 1:01But I decided this was a cool opportunity, a cool chance for
- 1:03me to talk to you about 3 strategies about helping people
- 1:09with an autism special condition who are children or mums and
- 1:12dads of people on special. So here we go guys.
- 1:15Without further ado, we're going to get into it right now guys.
- 1:19The first one I'm talking about here is multiple plans.
- 1:22Now an autistic person will have issues with change in their
- 1:26plans, right? And this is key.
- 1:28So when you have multiple areas of potential meltdowns, right?
- 1:34We all know what meltdowns are, and we all know autistic people
- 1:36love routine. So if you've got a routine and
- 1:38you're sticking to your team, but something happens in that
- 1:40routine, like you know you're going to go out to get ice
- 1:42cream, then you're going to come back and watch Star Wars or
- 1:44something. But on your way to get ice
- 1:46cream, something happens. Flat tire in the car or I don't
- 1:48know something happens right Then that routine is knocked and
- 1:52the person on the spectrum will feel it almost like a pain.
- 1:55It's kind of like you're stopping them in the tracks and
- 1:57it's like ah, you know it's difficult.
- 1:59So I create fail safes. Now this is basically creating
- 2:04two other plans as backup plans so and you can do this with with
- 2:09the child as well. So you make this, the plan is
- 2:11that we're going to go out and get ice cream.
- 2:12Go back what Star Wars. But if something happens, we're
- 2:16going to have a different plan. Like we're, you know, so I don't
- 2:19know, you could whatever it is that you know, that you can do
- 2:21within your capacity, make two of the backup plans.
- 2:24Because basically when this one fails, you have two others boom.
- 2:28Just like that. You're saving the day.
- 2:30You're rocking it. Mum and dad come out like
- 2:31superheroes rocking it. And I salute you guys for doing
- 2:34an excellent job. OK, so two, This is positive
- 2:39aftermath, right? So if there is a change
- 2:41happening that causes a child on the Austin Spectrum to have some
- 2:46issues, right as soon as that change happens and they start to
- 2:50panic, introduce something that is hyper positive to them,
- 2:53right? So this could be, say they have
- 2:55a topic of special interest and they like looking at Penguins.
- 2:59Then if something happens and you start freaking out, get your
- 3:01phone out, show pictures of Penguins and start talking about
- 3:04Penguins and their topic of interest.
- 3:05It could be a game, it could be like Pokémon, it could be
- 3:08anything. But what you're doing is that
- 3:10you're replacing all this negative charge with positive
- 3:13influx and that that exchange will start training the brain to
- 3:17kind of realize that there is like at the end of the tunnel,
- 3:20it's not going to be, you know, devastating.
- 3:22Yes, it's difficult to deal with on the communication aspect of
- 3:25it. It's very hard to understand at
- 3:26that moment in time. But in in relation to life,
- 3:30you're going to get over it because something positive can
- 3:32come out of it and you being the carriers and the caregivers,
- 3:34you're going to be able to understand that and help them
- 3:36out. This is super key, guys.
- 3:38You do this and you got you just nailing it guys, I hope you're
- 3:43writing all this stuff down, dudes.
- 3:44I hope you're writing it all down.
- 3:45And if you're not forgetting about it, then you can always
- 3:47pop over to my membership website, which is level of
- 3:49autism.net and be a part of my membership world first.
- 3:52And you get actual monthly coaching from me live on video
- 3:55chat. Super dub, right?
- 3:58The last one here #3 is change the situation.
- 4:02So if change is happening in the current plan, switch to
- 4:06something completely different and explain the difference so
- 4:09you control the difference. Let me put this way.
- 4:12If you are going to go somewhere and you're you're in the store
- 4:17with your kid and then something happens in that store in that
- 4:19environment and your child on the spectrum starts kind of like
- 4:23getting really panicked, worked up and about to melt down.
- 4:26Then quickly pick them up, run outside, go into the car and
- 4:30turn your kind of AC on your your your actual climate
- 4:34control. So you can control the climate,
- 4:36you can control the noise because you're inside your car,
- 4:39it's quieter, you can control how much light or how much light
- 4:41you don't want. And then explain the situation,
- 4:43say, hey, it's OK we'll come to the car to calm down, to relax,
- 4:47to just chill for a minute because that situation was very
- 4:49difficult and we had some issues there, didn't we?
- 4:51But now we're in this situation and control it, own it.
- 4:55Because when you control the difference, you begin to show
- 4:58that there is power in retracting from something that
- 5:01is giving you negative impulse. And this is really key to to
- 5:05making sure that you're not suffering long term.
- 5:09Like, you don't say like, Oh well, we're just going to deal
- 5:11with it and walk around the store and you're just going to
- 5:12be upset. You're just going to be upset
- 5:14and unhappy the whole time because that's not good for
- 5:16anybody and no one's going to, no one's going to learn anything
- 5:19from this. But if you plan appropriately
- 5:22and you, you kind of make that effort to to move them out the
- 5:25situation and control the new situation, you're winning every
- 5:28single time. Guys, if you want to talk to me
- 5:30about this, drop me a comment down below.
- 5:31I read every single one and I'd love to read and have a
