- 0:02Hey, welcome to the City Point Church podcast.
- 0:04Thanks for joining us. Every day is an opportunity to
- 0:07take hold of. So we hope this message inspires
- 0:10you and build your faith, but it helps you have more of a God
- 0:13perspective for your day. Enjoy.
- 0:17If you've got faith to receive today from from heaven, would
- 0:20you declare out loud today? My heart is open, my ears are
- 0:26alert to grow and change and never be the same.
- 0:35Amen. Amen.
- 0:36Please be seated. Unity in diversity.
- 0:43Unity in diversity. That's the title of my message
- 0:47today. Unity in diversity.
- 0:50Now from a non Christian or a non biblical viewpoint, unity in
- 0:56diversity is communities of many cultures living side by side,
- 1:02bound by this, bound by shared values of respect, justice and
- 1:09belonging. That's a non biblical idea of
- 1:14what unity in diversity is. This view of unity and diversity
- 1:19that the world tries to follow is absolutely impossible to
- 1:24uphold. It's an impossible concept that
- 1:29they are putting on media, that they're putting in, in papers
- 1:32and in articles for us as a world to have some sense of
- 1:37unity. And it's a unity in diversity
- 1:41across cultures that we actually can't uphold as humans without
- 1:46God, nation to nation, race to race, person to person will
- 1:52never completely uphold the same values or understanding of
- 1:58belonging. However, you may get small
- 2:01groupings of people to harmonize by dropping parts of their
- 2:06identity to obtain momentary peace, and this is what the
- 2:12world calls good. But who knows?
- 2:15In the Church, as Saints with Jesus Christ, there is an
- 2:20everlasting peace that we can obtain in our lives right now,
- 2:25and it's found through Jesus Christ.
- 2:29Amen. So they've got the right idea.
- 2:32They just don't know how to get there without God.
- 2:36You know, the book of Acts in our Bible have been doing, we've
- 2:39been going through the book of Acts over the last month,
- 2:42whether you've seen that or not, we've been preaching out of the
- 2:45book of Acts and it holds keys demonstrating the power of and
- 2:51the call to unity in diversity. So you find it in your Holy
- 2:57Bible in the book of Acts. Now this is a celebration point
- 3:02and it's unique to the to Christianity, to us as a church.
- 3:06It separates Christianity from all other religions and world
- 3:11views because through Jesus it can actually be fulfilled as
- 3:17every Christian from every nation embraces our new Kingdom
- 3:22of God culture, Kingdom of God culture.
- 3:27As an Aussie growing up in, in Australia or in Townsville, one
- 3:31of the hottest parts of Australia.
- 3:33But it's where the crocodiles live.
- 3:35It's a good place. Crocodile Hunter must have come
- 3:39from there. And man, we've got real knives
- 3:43in Townsville. You know, I feel like I'm
- 3:45getting dad jokes. It's not Father's Day yet and I
- 3:50don't even know why I said that. That's amazing.
- 3:58That's why I said that. You know why?
- 4:00I realized that as I grew up in Australia.
- 4:05And this would be the same for anyone in any country where you
- 4:08grow up in your, in your homeland, you go to church, you
- 4:13become a Christian in your homeland and you, you can have
- 4:18this sense that our way is the way.
- 4:21And I've learned as I've matured in my Christian walk that my way
- 4:26isn't the way, Heaven's way is the way.
- 4:30And as when as we start to if we are willing to apply ourselves
- 4:37to a heavenly way of thinking and under and grass hold of
- 4:44throughout all my years. I still need to mature in the
- 4:47things of God. That's a healthy way to live.
- 4:51And if we could all do this. What we come to realize is as we
- 4:56as we allow the heavenly culture over shadow our earthly cultures
- 5:02from any country. What happens is that unity in
- 5:05the body of Christ starts to form and This is why we call it
- 5:09a body of Christ. See, my finger doesn't quite
- 5:13understand the importance of my toe, but in the body of Christ,
- 5:18when we come, when we come in unity, that we we both belong
- 5:22and have an equal level of importance in the body of
- 5:27Graham, we then play our part and Graham is fulfilled and more
- 5:32powerful in who he is. So you just take my toe away and
- 5:35I lose balance and I'm taking my finger away and I can't point.
- 5:40I have to use my left hand. And it's a nunco hand, which is
- 5:43a talisal word and which means just not very good hand.
- 5:48And so there is, there is, there is purpose for everyone from
- 5:54every nation, from every culture, and there is purpose
- 5:58within your culture. And when we unify in the body of
- 6:02the Christ, the body of Christ becomes beautiful, it comes
- 6:06powerful, it becomes unified together.
- 6:10And in that unity, the power and the splendor of God, the glory
- 6:15of God can flow like like humanity has never experienced
- 6:20before. Let me tell you, it's a mistake
- 6:23to think that there is going to be division in the body of
- 6:26Christ and the presence of God is going to move like ever
- 6:29before. Miracles are going to move.
- 6:31That's a mistake. God is going to unify His body.
- 6:35And I love what Pastor Mark says.
- 6:36As the world gets darker, the light gets brighter.
- 6:39God is bringing unity into His body and as His body across the
- 6:43globe unifies like never before, we will see the power and the
- 6:48wonder and the glory of God manifest like we have never seen
- 6:52before. To be really honest and rule
- 6:55with you, I believe that this is part of what is happening in the
- 6:59life of this church as the more unity in the things and the
- 7:02purpose and the the missio day, the mission of God that is
- 7:06coming in into yours and my souls.
- 7:09And we are unifying with this and we're saying I don't want to
- 7:12live for myself. What's the purpose?
- 7:15And we're finding that in the church with God's people, we are
- 7:19seeing miracles and the glory of God move like we've never seen
- 7:23before. And isn't that amazing church
- 7:26love being part of them? This is the unity concept that
- 7:31the world longs for but can't grasp without Jesus being the
- 7:35Lord of every nation and being the Lord of people.
- 7:40Take a break. This is what a church body is,
- 7:47to look like Jesus at the centre in heaven's culture as our new
- 7:53governance as set out in Scripture and understand,
- 7:57understood through relationship, unity and diversity, means that
- 8:03God through Jesus Christ brings together people of every nation,
- 8:10culture and background and gives them different giftings, roles
- 8:16and callings, but makes them one family, one body and one church
- 8:21in the Holy Spirit. That's awesome, isn't it?
- 8:25And powerful. This is heavenly culture.
- 8:29This is Christian, our new culture, this is my new this is
- 8:36what I'm part of. You aren't part of my culture
- 8:40and you have to just do whatever we do as a church in the
- 8:44Australian way. We together collectively are
- 8:49part of heaven's culture and we do things and we move and have
- 8:54our being in a heavenly way, in one accord, under one God.
- 8:59Amen. So today I want to hone in on
- 9:03the Bible book of Acts and in Chapter 11, and this is what I'm
- 9:07going to do. I'm going to jump from verse to
- 9:09verse in this one chapter to exemplify the theme and bring
- 9:14forward points as we look at unit unity in diversity
- 9:19together. Are we ready for this Acts 11
- 9:24verse one? It says Now the apostles and
- 9:27brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also
- 9:33received the word of God. Now this is a breakthrough
- 9:39moment. See, the gospel is no longer
- 9:42just for Jews, but also for Gentiles.
- 9:48We jump to verse 17 and 18. If therefore God gave them the
- 9:53same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus
- 9:58Christ, who who was I that I could withstand God?
- 10:03Verse 18 When they heard these things, they became silence and
- 10:08they glorified God, saying, then God has also granted to the
- 10:14Gentiles repentance to life. This is what this means.
- 10:19Peter recognizes that God makes no distinction between Jew and
- 10:26Gentile. Unity is God's doing here on
- 10:31planet earth. It also says that the Jewish
- 10:35believers accepted God's inclusion now of Gentiles,
- 10:40praising Him for His grace to all people.
- 10:44This is a beautiful gospel. This is a gospel for all of
- 10:51Caboolture, for every person in Caboolture, not just the ones
- 10:57driving nice cars with nicer for everyone.
- 11:01This is the same gospel for people who just come out of
- 11:04Woodford Prison. This is the same gospel for the
- 11:08people living in in the canals and big houses.
- 11:12It's the same gospel for the Australians as it is for the non
- 11:17Australians that are living in Australia.
- 11:19It's the same gospel no matter your upbringing, your education
- 11:24or your understanding. It's the same gospel for those
- 11:28who can read and can't read the word of God.
- 11:31It's the same gospel for those who believe in miracles or don't
- 11:35believe in miracles miracles. It's the same gospel for
- 11:39Christians and non Christians. It's the same gospel for those
- 11:44who are rejecting Jesus and those who are receiving Jesus.
- 11:49It's the same gospel because we are all everyone on planet earth
- 11:54from every nation and every people and every generation are
- 11:59still all children of God. Amen.
- 12:06It's a mistake to categorize children of God as Christians.
- 12:13I don't think the church has ever done this wrong.
- 12:17I just don't think they've just gone deep enough and it's just
- 12:20left us wondering sometimes. So no, I love, I don't ever talk
- 12:26negative about the church, but sometimes when you leave things
- 12:30out, it creates and understand that might not be false.
- 12:33Let me true, that may be false. But let me tell you, every
- 12:38person, Christian or not, are children of God.
- 12:41And if we can see them through that lens, we will not separate
- 12:45ourselves in some sort sort of hierarchy, but we would see that
- 12:50the heart of God pumps for them just as much as it pumps for us.
- 12:54And that is what will drive you and I.
- 12:58This is what drives us because they are children of God that
- 13:02are yet to come back into their identity of sons and daughters
- 13:06of God. Does this make sense?
- 13:08And when we view people like this, it will drive you and I to
- 13:12share this wonderful gospel that that that crosses all boundaries
- 13:19and brings all people in. And when it brings all people
- 13:24in, it brings them all into a new heavenly culture, a new
- 13:30heavenly way of living, a new heavenly understanding, Amen.
- 13:36This is good for all of us. It brings everyone into the
- 13:40Kingdom of God, as what we will discover in a moment is a
- 13:44Christian, Amen. So verse 20, now it says, but
- 13:50some of them were men from Cyprus and Serene, who when they
- 13:55had come to Antioch spoke to the Hellenist.
- 13:59There's lots of words here preaching the Lord Jesus.
- 14:04Verse 21 and the hand of the Lord was with them and a great
- 14:08number of believers and turned to the Lord.
- 14:12Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene went to
- 14:16Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also telling them the
- 14:21good news about the Lord Jesus. Can you see what's happening?
- 14:25And the Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of
- 14:30people believed and turned to the Lord.
- 14:33Let me just show you what we just read.
- 14:38Antioch was a cultural crossroads of Greek
- 14:41sophisticated sophistication. Sophistication.
- 14:45That's obviously I'm not sophisticated enough for that
- 14:49word. For Roman power, Jewish
- 14:54religion, sorry, Assyrian tradition and international
- 15:01trade. This is the place of the
- 15:03Antioch. It was the perfect place for the
- 15:07gospel to demonstrate that Christ unites people from every
- 15:14culture into one family. This is in the book of Acts.
- 15:20Antioch becomes the first multi ethnic church showing the gospel
- 15:27flourishing in diversity. Let me tell you church, if we
- 15:34want to flourish, we need to embrace each other and our
- 15:37differences. That's how we fly.
- 15:40We learn from each other. You know, cross today in the and
- 15:44when you go out into the cafe, sit on a different table than
- 15:48what you normally sit on. And weren't some people around
- 15:52us. There is so much diversity and
- 15:55so many culture cultures represented in this wonderful
- 15:59church that we are in that your life can just be enlightened.
- 16:03So much more unity can come into your your world and so much more
- 16:07joy as we learn each other, our cultures and we learn from each
- 16:12other. Amen.
- 16:14And this is what this church in Antioch was experiencing, and
- 16:18God was adding to the church all the time.
- 16:21Verse 25. Then Barnabas departed for
- 16:26Tarsus to seek Saul, and when he had found him, he bought him to
- 16:31Antioch. So it was that for a whole year
- 16:35they assembled with the church and taught a great many people
- 16:40and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
- 16:45That's where the name comes from.
- 16:48This shows the diverse community in Antioch is where believers
- 16:53are first called Christians and a new identity that transcends
- 16:59ethnic and cultural divisions. See, when you become a
- 17:04Christian, I love this. When you call me a Christian,
- 17:09you're not calling me Australian.
- 17:16I love it's it's an identity. When you call me a Christian,
- 17:23you're calling me a child of the living God, the author of all
- 17:28things. You are shifting The Who I am
- 17:34and re identifying who whose I am and within that when I call
- 17:41you a Christian, I'm calling you by the call of heaven of the
- 17:46purpose on your life. I'm not seeing you by your past.
- 17:52I'm seeing you through the blood of Jesus.
- 17:55How the Father does see when he sees you, he calls you child and
- 18:00he says I'm your father. That's an identity moment.
- 18:04He's he's saying I have transformed you from darkness
- 18:09and into lights. He, he doesn't say when you give
- 18:14your life to Christ that you are darkness, but you can now see
- 18:18lights. He doesn't say that.
- 18:21He doesn't say you are still Graham, but I'm doing a good
- 18:25work in you. But he says I have transformed
- 18:30you. You are now born again as though
- 18:34you never were, because your old Jew was into the sinful world,
- 18:39but the new you is into the heavenly world, A heavenly
- 18:43culture, a heavenly rule, a heavenly mandate, a heavenly
- 18:48calling, a heavenly purpose, and with a heavenly Father.
- 18:52Amen. This is why Christianity is life
- 18:55to the soul. When you and I become
- 18:58Christians, we aren't joining cults or gangs or clubs.
- 19:02We are joining a heavenly purpose and call that is divine,
- 19:07that is eternal. And the eternal, the eternal
- 19:10purpose starts now in our human, human experience.
- 19:16This is the power of the gospel. And when we understand that this
- 19:20should drive you and I to get out of these walls, man, I'm
- 19:25excited to get home. Are you excited to get home
- 19:27today? Please say no because this
- 19:29message is awesome. But you get stirred, right?
- 19:35And you just want to get out into the world and tell people
- 19:39about this. God.
- 19:41See, we want to see people not just come out of drugs.
- 19:45We want that, but we don't just want to see people come out of
- 19:49prostitution. We want that.
- 19:51We don't just want to see people come out of poverty.
- 19:55We we do want that, but we want to see people come into the
- 19:59family of gods. This is what no other religion
- 20:02can offer. No other God can offer this.
- 20:06In fact, there is no other God. Just just settle that deal.
- 20:10There's no such thing. They're just all deceptions of
- 20:12the devil. There is one God.
- 20:15There is one heavenly family and everyone is welcome.
- 20:19But when we all come into this heavenly family, we come into a
- 20:23new culture, a new way of living, a new way of breathing,
- 20:28a new way of thinking. Behold, all things become new
- 20:33for you and I Amen. This is good, good, good stuff.
- 20:42Gentiles are defined as non Jews, anyone not belonging to
- 20:48the ethnic or religious community of Israel.
- 20:53And in the modern world, from a biblical perspective, Gentiles
- 20:58encompass all people groups who are not ethnically or
- 21:04religiously Jew. So when the Bible is talking
- 21:07about Gentiles and the message has now moved into the world of
- 21:12the Gentiles, he's talking about most people in this room today,
- 21:17non Jews, you and I isn't this good?
- 21:20The, the, the early disciples took it that way.
- 21:26So what does this mean? Unity and diversity means we
- 21:29prioritize God's Kingdom values. Listen, lean into this over our
- 21:37cultural customs and traditions. I'm going to say that again
- 21:44because if you struggle in this area, I want to help you in this
- 21:48area this morning. And this will bring a new, a new
- 21:52level of life and unity in the Kingdom of God that you've never
- 21:56experienced. Unity in God means we prioritize
- 22:04God's Kingdom values over our cultural customs and traditions.
- 22:11And if we all do this, it unifies us together.
- 22:17The Scriptures teach that Christians must place God's
- 22:21Kingdom culture over personal, national culture, learning to
- 22:27live out heaven's values even when they clash with earthly
- 22:32traditions. This is tough stuff.
- 22:36This is really tough sometimes for us to do.
- 22:40And the reason why it can be tough is let's say you give your
- 22:43life to Jesus at 20 years old. You've had 20 years of living
- 22:49with a perspective that has been shaped by your culture, by where
- 22:54you have been brought up. And when you come into the
- 22:57Kingdom of God, there is a a new way of thinking.
- 23:02And This is why I love calling it a journey is because the, the
- 23:07wonderful grace of God and the beauty of God is he doesn't
- 23:12expect anyone to just flick and just go, Oh, I don't do that
- 23:18anymore. I now do this.
- 23:19We're all growing, learning, doing what we call getting it
- 23:23wrong. You know what I mean?
- 23:25Which just means we're expanding and we're, we're learning new
- 23:29things. It's good.
- 23:30It's good for us. It's good for our minds.
- 23:33It's good for our souls and our bodies to be in learning new
- 23:37things like this, just like in schools or diversities or Bible
- 23:41college. Man, we got a lot of Bible
- 23:43college students in the house this morning, which is just
- 23:46awesome. But when we learn, we grow.
- 23:49And when you come into the Kingdom of God, it's a, it's a
- 23:53journey that we walk together. This is why it's so, so
- 23:57important that we don't judge each other, but rather we
- 24:02sharpen each other. Now you can't sharpen a person
- 24:06if you don't understand a person and you won't sharpen or
- 24:10understand a person if you don't go deeper.
- 24:13Then hello, where do you live? Oh, we all live in Caboolture.
- 24:16So we all have Australian culture.
- 24:19We're missing a few things, right?
- 24:21And so we have our after church coffees together and you shout
- 24:25someone and you, you start asking some real questions.
- 24:29Where were you brought up? What was that like?
- 24:31Where was your family? And you find out that they were
- 24:34brought up in a place and their family was up on the hills and
- 24:37you're like, wow. So what was the community was a
- 24:39small community. Oh wow, that must have been a
- 24:41strong community. And we learn each other.
- 24:44But in that talking and that communion together, we are both
- 24:49focused on the heavenly culture. And so iron can sharpen iron.
- 24:53Oh, well, I love that about your, your upbringing.
- 24:56But you know, the thing of heaven and the way God thinks
- 24:59that we find through his word is this.
- 25:01We go, wow, that is so awesome. And so we we move each other
- 25:06together towards the ways of heaven.
- 25:09Amen. It's beautiful, beautiful stuff.
- 25:15Philippians 320 says this for our citizen.
- 25:20I'm struggling with words though.
- 25:21Our citizenship is in heaven from which we also eagerly wait
- 25:29for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 25:33I like that because there's there's two ways of looking at
- 25:38those few words. One is, is we're eagerly waiting
- 25:42for such a thing, but we already have the citizenship off.
- 25:50And so it's kind of to me, it's like I grew up in in Townsville.
- 25:56And so sometimes I might eagerly wait to go and visit Townsville.
- 26:02Now that's very rare, but it might happen.
- 26:06And so I'm eagerly waiting to go back, but I already understand
- 26:11what I'm going to find. Does this make sense?
- 26:16And so if you can identify yourself Christian as as a
- 26:21citizen of heaven, although we're waiting for that great
- 26:27wonderful day, our citizenship does this ready.
- 26:32It draws heaven to earth. And see, sometimes we cry out,
- 26:41God, would you pour heaven out on earth?
- 26:45And God's God must be saying to himself with the angels
- 26:48sometimes, do they not realize they're citizens?
- 26:53They already carry heaven within them.
- 26:57And we realize this the more we unify together, because the more
- 27:03we unify, there's a freedom in the atmosphere.
- 27:08Signs and wonders start to happen.
- 27:10Did you know that every time a miracle happens, that is heaven
- 27:15on earth? It's not a visitation of God's
- 27:20power. It's not a momentary thing of
- 27:25God's power. God's power is flowing through
- 27:29His Saints. Anyone that wants this God's
- 27:33power is flowing. Why?
- 27:35Because we are citizens. I often use the term conduits,
- 27:41which just means no glory to me, but all glory to God.
- 27:44I'm just a conduit, OK, But I understand that I can be a
- 27:49conduit, and I stand in the place of a conduit, wherever
- 27:54that is. But I stand in that place and I
- 27:57say God use me. Why do I do that?
- 28:01Because I understand I am a citizen of heaven.
- 28:05I belong to heaven, and heaven belongs in me.
- 28:08Amen. So we are citizens, Christian.
- 28:12You are a citizen of heaven. When we hold tight to earthly
- 28:17cultural traditions, values, language and behaviours, our
- 28:21relationship with the rest of God's people becomes under
- 28:26immense tension. When you or I hold on to our
- 28:32past, our traditions, our cultures over the graces of God
- 28:39for people around us, we just formulate tensions, not freedom,
- 28:46but through our cultural understanding.
- 28:49When we were in communion or talking with people, if we're
- 28:52our gaze is on the heavenly, well, God, what does your word
- 28:56say? God, would you flow through me?
- 28:58Not through me and my cultural filters, but God, would you use
- 29:01me as a conduit because I'm a citizen of heaven?
- 29:05Heaven, would you flow through me?
- 29:06In this conversation, you'll find unity comes into that
- 29:10moment, and liberty and freedom, not divide.
- 29:19The transformative work of what Jesus has done in US becomes
- 29:24watered down because our witness of God's Kingdom and our
- 29:28behaviours don't line up. You can't witness the freedom
- 29:35that we find in Jesus Christ and then hold on to behaviours and
- 29:41traditions that bring disunity or division.
- 29:45Does this make sense? Sometimes we speak about the
- 29:49love of God and the gospel, and we speak about Jesus, but then
- 29:54we hold so true to a traditional fact that it's secluding the
- 30:01same person. Does this make sense?
- 30:05It would be like God without grace.
- 30:11God without grace He gives us the Word and without grace it
- 30:16would become law. But because of the grace of God,
- 30:24I just exampled this. I became a Christian and then
- 30:28God had the grace for of me to be on my journey of learning how
- 30:32to transform my life, my mind, my behaviors, to walk in the
- 30:37ways or the culture of heaven. And I'm still till the day I die
- 30:41or go to heaven or Jesus comes back, which should have been
- 30:44last week but it wasn't. But so don't worry about that.
- 30:48Depends how much YouTube you watch.
- 30:50But until that day I am always being transformed and that is a
- 30:58beautiful process. And so this, without the grace
- 31:03of God becomes law. But the grace of God we see
- 31:08exercise through the life of Jesus Christ.
- 31:10Amen, became our Saviour. People need to see that there is
- 31:22a transfer of culture and traditional grounding and that
- 31:29there is a transformation in you and I when we give our lives to
- 31:35Jesus. People need to see that there is
- 31:37a transfer, a transaction that happens in our lives because
- 31:42it's no longer I who live, but Christ who lives through me.
- 31:47Amen. So this is insane.
- 31:50Have no cultural traditions, values, language or behavior,
- 31:53but rather all of us from every culture.
- 31:56Now as citizens of one heaven under the lordship of one God,
- 32:01and save through the one person, Jesus Christ, we allow the Word
- 32:06of God, the Holy Bible, reshape our beautiful cultural cultural
- 32:12life foundations so that our differences become our unifying
- 32:17strengths. CS Lewis said Christianity does
- 32:23not replace or abolish our natural lives, but it must
- 32:28subordinate them to something higher, the culture of heaven
- 32:33breaking into earth. What that word means Subordinate
- 32:38is means come under or be redefined or be realigned by the
- 32:44new culture of heaven. In this church we exist to see
- 32:50spiritual and social transformation of our city.
- 32:55This great church is made-up of people from diverse nations and
- 33:00different cultures. We are unified through Jesus
- 33:03Christ, our new heavenly culture that transcends every earthly
- 33:09culture and is to unify every earthly culture.
- 33:13Our new identity as children of God, all of us in the same
- 33:19heavenly family that work our differences for the one purpose,
- 33:25the mission of God, the vision of this church to see spiritual
- 33:30and social transformation of our city.
- 33:32This is our unmistakable influence as a church.
- 33:37Amen is when you and I have this mindset and understanding, we
- 33:42become a unified group of people, a unified ecclesia, a
- 33:47body of Christ in one accord, you working in one accord as
- 33:52your body does. And we bring the body and the
- 33:56message of Jesus Christ to our great city, the Morton City and
- 34:01the Bribie Island and everyone around us.
- 34:03And we exemplify the goodness of God across all the agricultures.
- 34:08Amen. That's amazing stuff.
- 34:12Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He said the church is the church
- 34:16only when it exists for others, not dominating, but helping and
- 34:22serving. It must tell men of every
- 34:25calling what it means to live for Christ and not for the
- 34:30nation. I do not live for Australia.
- 34:43I love Australia, I think we're in the great self land of the
- 34:46Holy Spirit, but I live for the Kingdom of God to shine the
- 34:52light that only heaven has, to bring the gospel that only Jesus
- 34:57is to bring the transformation that can only happen through the
- 35:02saving grace of our God. This is our purpose as a church.
- 35:09Listen, if you're in this church and you're part of this church,
- 35:12this is your purpose is to bring Jesus to the nations, not to
- 35:18uphold our family traditions or hold higher what we believe and
- 35:24think in our preferences and our understanding and and all of
- 35:28that stuff. But to get into the word of God
- 35:30and bring the life of the word of God that transcends anything
- 35:34that I could possibly make up or think or have learnt in my own
- 35:39experiences. Amen.
- 35:42Biblical unity and diversity is Christ centered truth or Bible
- 35:47governed and sacrificial. Our culture and heritage plays
- 35:53an important part in our mission for Jesus, our vision as a
- 35:58church and purposeful living where we do in this great city
- 36:02of ours and as citizens of heaven.
- 36:06We must submit who we are to God so that He can shape and
- 36:11redefined who we are so that we are unified as one people in one
- 36:18cause and that of Jesus Christ. Our differences are our
- 36:23strength. We are strengthened together.
- 36:27Trust me, you don't want a lot of Grimes going around.
- 36:31Unity and diversity is a dream for the world, yet a reality for
- 36:35God's Kingdom and for God's people in Christ.
- 36:39Many nations become one people, many cultures become one family,
- 36:44and many gifts become one mission.
- 36:48Here's our action point for today, and the band can come.
- 36:51If you're not already here with me, here's our action point from
- 36:56today's message. As we live out our heavenly
- 37:04citizenship, we are to choose Kingdom values over cultural
- 37:09divides so our city sees the unmistakable influence of Jesus
- 37:17in you. You received that today, Church.
- 37:22And as you go out into the cafe, can I encourage you to chat with
- 37:27someone new this morning to have a conversation that goes deeper
- 37:30than Hi and Hallows and where do you live?
- 37:34Why don't we just get deep with our brothers and our sisters?
- 37:37Who loves that? We're called brothers and
- 37:39sisters in Christ. You know, I've grown up always
- 37:43knowing that, but never really understanding that.
- 37:46And you can only really understand that we are brothers
- 37:50and sisters in Christ if you understand that we all have the
- 37:53same citizenship and that of heaven, Amen.
- 37:56And that of heaven only found through the 1 Lord and Savior
- 38:01Jesus Christ.
