- 0:53Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:55Speaker 3: I am doing good, and like you and like everybody,
- 0:58Speaker 3: I'm just excited to have some football. We had, I
- 1:01Speaker 3: don't know if it was an appetizer last week. It's
- 1:05Speaker 3: just maybe some stale chips and salsa that was a
- 1:09Speaker 3: little bit left over. There's a little bit, but I'm
- 1:12Speaker 3: ready for a big week this week in college football.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Chris, before we get to the games, we have to
- 1:17Speaker 1: discuss the SEC as they will go to court on Thursday.
- 1:22Speaker 1: over this NFL player rolling. It looks like the courts
- 1:26Speaker 1: and the judges have said, no, you've got to let
- 1:27Speaker 1: them play. There's real discussion, or at least it looks like,
- 1:31Speaker 1: on what to do with LSU. Lane Kiffin has said
- 1:34Speaker 1: earlier today his player leadership committee, which I didn't know
- 1:37Speaker 1: that they had these, gave him their blessing to bring
- 1:40Speaker 1: in players with NFL experience. Quote, everyone was emphatic that
- 1:44Speaker 1: if they can help us win, let's bring them on. LSU,
- 1:48Speaker 1: why are they dying on this hill, Chris?
- 1:53Speaker 3: There's a few theories. One of them, it's coming from
- 1:55Speaker 3: the governor, who's trying to push the big Trump guy.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And he's trying to push Trump's agenda of save the
- 2:03Speaker 3: College Sports Act. That's great chaos. We're all for it.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So he sees that as a window. How much is
- 2:12Speaker 3: there to that? I think there's something to it. Two,
- 2:16Speaker 3: I mean, when does Lane not like the spotlight on him?
- 2:20Speaker 3: I mean, he's about, look at me. You know, look,
- 2:28Speaker 3: I think in the end, it's going to be very interesting.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm not going to give legal renderings of what might
- 2:37Speaker 3: or might not happen. But people that I do talk
- 2:42Speaker 3: to in that profession believe that they're going to rule
- 2:46Speaker 3: against the SEC on this. Then it's going to get interesting.
- 2:51Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of fodder and talk. I
- 2:55Speaker 3: know a reporter reported anonymously, of course, isn't it always
- 3:00Speaker 3: that we'll, we'll find somebody else. I mean, they're not
- 3:03Speaker 3: going to kick LSU out of the SEC. LSU is
- 3:05Speaker 3: not going anywhere. They're not going to be able to,
- 3:09Speaker 3: even if they wanted to pull, that's just kind of posturing.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And it's just, to me, it's, I think it's a,
- 3:18Speaker 3: it's a hypocritical and all the way around. I mean, it's,
- 3:21Speaker 3: It's like in Louisiana, they're all for this, it's for LSU,
- 3:26Speaker 3: and I say, well, let's say Lane Kiffin had taken
- 3:29Speaker 3: the Florida job and he was doing all this. You'd
- 3:31Speaker 3: like that, and then there's Stone Silence, of course. You'd
- 3:34Speaker 3: hate it. And Florida fans who are now hating it
- 3:37Speaker 3: would love it. The bottom line is, I think you
- 3:41Speaker 3: have to look at, is this the right thing to do?
- 3:45Speaker 3: And the answer is no. I think you've probably explained
- 3:49Speaker 3: to your audience, knowing you, that this is unique circumstance.
- 3:53Speaker 3: These players forget about the, you know, two or three
- 3:57Speaker 3: that LSU might be interested in. There are 33 players
- 4:00Speaker 3: that were told their eligibility was up only to declare
- 4:04Speaker 3: for the draft. And, uh, only to, and even the
- 4:07Speaker 3: NBA guys sound the same thing, only be told that
- 4:10Speaker 3: the new rule took place after they decided that they
- 4:13Speaker 3: were told that they had no eligibility left. So this
- 4:16Speaker 3: is not an ongoing thing. This is a one-year thing. And, and,
- 4:21Speaker 3: Like I have said before, you look at the lawsuit,
- 4:25Speaker 3: the lawsuit is not by, get this today, why is
- 4:30Speaker 3: LSU suing them? LSU has nothing to do with this.
- 4:33Speaker 3: It's the 33 or so players that are suing, and
- 4:37Speaker 3: I don't know, a lot of lawyers think that they've
- 4:41Speaker 3: got every right, and if you think about it from
- 4:45Speaker 3: a logical standpoint, they do. Now, the question is, just
- 4:49Speaker 3: because they have a right to come back and play,
- 4:54Speaker 3: does the SEC or the Big Ten or the Big
- 4:58Speaker 3: 12 or the ACC at all have the right to say,
- 5:02Speaker 3: as a conference, we don't want our institutions to go
- 5:05Speaker 3: after a player that has been in the NFL for
- 5:10Speaker 3: any period of time or declared for the draft for
- 5:13Speaker 3: the NBA or whatever. In the end, the SEC has
- 5:16Speaker 3: already come out and said, we don't want that. And
- 5:18Speaker 3: We voted 16-0 that you're not going to do that. And,
- 5:25Speaker 3: you know, it looks like, well, the lawsuit is, I mean,
- 5:30Speaker 3: they're going to sue that. Hey, you're denying us a
- 5:33Speaker 3: chance to go play at that school or the Big
- 5:36Speaker 3: Ten or wherever, and we're going to sue you. I
- 5:39Speaker 3: don't know where it's going to end up legally. I
- 5:41Speaker 3: think we're not going to get it resolved on Thursday,
- 5:44Speaker 3: but we're going to at least know. by Thursday, whether
- 5:50Speaker 3: they're going to be active for the ones that are
- 5:53Speaker 3: involved at LSU or any other school, whether they're going
- 5:56Speaker 3: to be active this week or not, but I expect
- 5:58Speaker 3: that this is going to go into some appeals process. Um,
- 6:03Speaker 3: don't you on, on most things do. I don't know.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I mean, I can have an opinion on, no, I
- 6:10Speaker 3: don't like anything that's gone on in college athletics for
- 6:14Speaker 3: years and years. Um, I don't like it, and I
- 6:18Speaker 3: don't like what LSU's doing. I don't like their stance.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I only think they're going to create enemies within the SEC.
- 6:27Speaker 3: But that's what Lane does. And this governor has, again,
- 6:33Speaker 3: got his own agenda, and I think LSU's just kind
- 6:36Speaker 3: of caught him. You don't hear Wade Ruth, the president
- 6:39Speaker 3: of LSU, saying to Pete, he can't. The governor's going
- 6:43Speaker 3: to tell him. He's going to do what the blank
- 6:45Speaker 3: I tell you to do because that's how he got
- 6:47Speaker 3: the job. And the governor appointed the board. So I
- 6:51Speaker 3: hope that gives a little bit of understanding to your audience.
- 6:54Speaker 3: This is the governor trying to push his agenda up
- 6:58Speaker 3: the national ladder. Maybe he can take a trip to Greenland,
- 7:03Speaker 3: which is also part of his new assignment. And maybe
- 7:06Speaker 3: he'll get out of this. I doubt it. And then
- 7:09Speaker 3: you got Lane. You know, when does Lane not like
- 7:12Speaker 3: chaos or attention? That's my best explanation of where we are.
- 7:18Speaker 3: The other stuff, I don't know. We'll see where it
- 7:20Speaker 3: plays out.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if we've ever seen a governor
- 7:24Speaker 1: so involved in any state. Maybe I'm missing one. In
- 7:27Speaker 1: the state of their college athletics inside their state like
- 7:30Speaker 1: this one is.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Well, let me take you back to one. This is
- 7:35Speaker 3: a great story. The great Huey P. Long, who many
- 7:38Speaker 3: stories and movies have been written about, was once... as
- 7:43Speaker 3: the governor, he would lead the band on the tiger stadium.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And what do you call the person up front? That's the,
- 7:51Speaker 3: that's the, with the little baton thing, whatever you got. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 3: He did that. And he wants, wanted to build a
- 8:01Speaker 3: huge stadium called tiger stadium. And the state legislator said, no. So,
- 8:07Speaker 3: you know what he did? You know what he didn't think?
- 8:09Speaker 3: He said, I need the funding to build dormitories for
- 8:16Speaker 3: ROTC athletes, for ROTC students. And guess where those dorms
- 8:22Speaker 3: were located?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Tiger Stadium.
- 8:24Speaker 3: In the stadium. That's how Tiger Stadium was initially built.
- 8:28Speaker 3: This was like the 30,000 view. This was before money
- 8:32Speaker 3: was spent. So I would say UEP Long was probably
- 8:35Speaker 3: more involved. But in the modern era, I know your point.
- 8:38Speaker 3: He's very, very involved. There's no question about it.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Speaking of involvement, we're talking with Chris Landry, college football
- 8:44Speaker 1: and the NFL. Go to LandryFootball.com. Chris, let's get a
- 8:47Speaker 1: game in, then we'll hit the games all the way
- 8:49Speaker 1: through the second segment. Auburn versus Baylor in Atlanta coming
- 8:53Speaker 1: up this weekend. 2.30 Central kick on ABC. Tigers are
- 8:56Speaker 1: a touchdown and a hook favorite. Not asking you for
- 8:59Speaker 1: gaming advice, but for the game itself. Alex Golish, game
- 9:02Speaker 1: number one. He's got a really good quarterback. A lot
- 9:05Speaker 1: of players in from South Florida. Baylor, Dave Aranda, DJ Lagway,
- 9:11Speaker 1: his first trip back to the SEC or against an
- 9:15Speaker 1: SEC foe. Can Baylor keep this close? Can they upset
- 9:18Speaker 1: Auburn this weekend?
- 9:19Speaker 3: I think they can keep it close. Yeah, I mean,
- 9:21Speaker 3: I think it'd be an upset. You know, it's just
- 9:23Speaker 3: so much unknown with these new coaches in these places.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I do like Auburn in the game. I think they've
- 9:29Speaker 3: got a little bit more balance. I do think there's
- 9:31Speaker 3: some talent on Auburn, Steve, more than Baylor. And I
- 9:35Speaker 3: do like their chances at home. I really do. do
- 9:38Speaker 3: like this game as this game in Ole Miss Louisville
- 9:43Speaker 3: or I mean to me that's the most intriguing where
- 9:47Speaker 3: there's potentially good matchup I could see both teams winning
- 9:51Speaker 3: but I definitely like Auburn's chances here let's.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Take a time out we come back we'll visit with
- 9:56Speaker 1: Chris we'll get his take on several of these games

- 11:28Speaker 1: the SEC. Mississippi State. Louisiana Monroe. Alabama ECU. Oklahoma UTEP.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Texas versus, I guess that's North Texas. or Texas State, rather,
- 11:41Speaker 1: excuse me, and then Florida FAU, South Carolina Kent State.
- 11:45Speaker 1: This should be blowouts. What do you look for in
- 11:47Speaker 1: games like these? Other than, I mean, you see an
- 11:50Speaker 1: Alabama score that comes across and they're up 40-10. What
- 11:53Speaker 1: do you look for in those games?
- 11:56Speaker 3: You want to look at execution. You want assignments. I mean,
- 11:59Speaker 3: you want to look at how the team is playing
- 12:02Speaker 3: from a coaching standpoint. If you look at it as
- 12:05Speaker 3: a fan and you see blowout and it looks good,
- 12:08Speaker 3: it sounds good, but Or are you making a lot
- 12:11Speaker 3: of fundamental errors and mistakes? It's a game in which
- 12:15Speaker 3: you can learn and grow from without the threat of
- 12:19Speaker 3: losing it. And so to me, you've got to put
- 12:22Speaker 3: a lot of pressure on your team to play against themselves,
- 12:27Speaker 3: to play to a standard, to play towards perfection. I'm
- 12:31Speaker 3: talking everything from coaches, how you call things, getting the
- 12:35Speaker 3: right personnel groupings on the field in time. make not
- 12:39Speaker 3: making mental errors. And then the things that you do
- 12:41Speaker 3: make that you can, you can correct it before you
- 12:45Speaker 3: play a team that if you make those mistakes, it'll
- 12:48Speaker 3: cost you the game. That's what I look for. I
- 12:51Speaker 3: wouldn't worry so much about margin of victory style point.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Oh my goodness. This happened. This and that.
- 12:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It's really more of what you learn from the game
- 13:02Speaker 3: and how you get better from that game. Um, And
- 13:06Speaker 3: I think a lot of times you will work on
- 13:08Speaker 3: things not to impress, but to work on things that
- 13:13Speaker 3: maybe you're not that comfortable doing because it'll really test
- 13:18Speaker 3: you on, can I do this? And I think what
- 13:21Speaker 3: you get out of it as a coach is, all right, look,
- 13:24Speaker 3: we're not going to be able to run as much
- 13:27Speaker 3: of this as we want to because they're just not
- 13:30Speaker 3: running it well. Or we think we can, but we're
- 13:33Speaker 3: going to have to utilize this package. versus another for
- 13:37Speaker 3: it to be successful going forward. So you can learn
- 13:40Speaker 3: a lot, but not by the school board necessarily. You know,
- 13:44Speaker 3: it goes without saying you can't lose one game like this.
- 13:48Speaker 3: This is a colossal blow to your season if you
- 13:50Speaker 3: were to blow a game like this, if you're one
- 13:52Speaker 3: of the big-time favorites.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Speaking of LSU, they host Clemson coming up at 6.30
- 13:58Speaker 1: on Saturday night, Tiger Stadium. Dabo Sweeney and Clemson, a
- 14:02Speaker 1: big underdog in this one, 10.5 points. What do you
- 14:04Speaker 1: expect to see? And can Clemson keep this thing close
- 14:06Speaker 1: this weekend?
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess they can. Yes, they can. I was,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you know, I don't follow this part as much as
- 14:17Speaker 3: maybe some others. Did I write 10 and a half points? Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Is that right? Is that close?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Is that what it is? Yeah, it's just under two touchdowns.
- 14:27Speaker 3: That's a lot. That's a lot. I mean, I would
- 14:29Speaker 3: have guessed like seven, seven and a half, seven and
- 14:33Speaker 3: a half because You know, first of all, let's start here.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Could you imagine Lane Kiffin blowing this game?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Oh, mercy.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Can you imagine that? Let's just start there as a storyline.
- 14:46Speaker 3: The storyline is going to be what it is, and
- 14:48Speaker 3: then it's going to be about the game and how
- 14:50Speaker 3: well they play. I think Clemson's in a good place.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Low expectations. They're cautioned to the win. They're going on
- 14:58Speaker 3: the road. No one expects them to win. They're in
- 15:02Speaker 3: a good spot. Yeah, they can have a fight, but
- 15:04Speaker 3: if they still got athletes, they can still play. This
- 15:07Speaker 3: game will be about LSU. And how smooth will their
- 15:12Speaker 3: offense be or will they make mistakes? Will they turn
- 15:15Speaker 3: the ball over? Will Lane make some calls on fourth
- 15:18Speaker 3: down because he's trying to prove something with his offense
- 15:22Speaker 3: that he gives Clemson a couple of short fields? Will
- 15:26Speaker 3: they make turnovers that will cost them? LSU is the
- 15:30Speaker 3: better team. Will they play better? Will they play smarter
- 15:34Speaker 3: and prove that? And maybe when going away, will they
- 15:37Speaker 3: maybe have a harder time of it? All the things
- 15:40Speaker 3: that I just mentioned about first game are true. But
- 15:43Speaker 3: this is the type of game where if you come
- 15:45Speaker 3: out of it with double-digit penalties, you know, three or
- 15:50Speaker 3: four turnovers, you know, crucial mental errors, this is a
- 15:55Speaker 3: game you lose. This is the type of game that
- 15:57Speaker 3: you can't play poorly anymore. and still win. Just like
- 16:01Speaker 3: we were talking about Auburn-Baylor, that's the same thing. I mean,
- 16:04Speaker 3: you play poorly, you don't get beat by the other team.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Chris, Ole Miss versus Louisville and Nashville. The Rebs are
- 16:10Speaker 1: a six-and-a-half-point favorite right out of a touchdown favorite. Louisville
- 16:14Speaker 1: has a really good running back. They've got an established
- 16:17Speaker 1: coaching staff. They've got a quarterback that can play. I mean,
- 16:20Speaker 1: Ole Miss, obviously, the favorite here. But how close a
- 16:22Speaker 1: ballgame is this? And did we put Ole Miss on
- 16:24Speaker 1: somewhat of an upset alert here?
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, look, this game could go either way.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'm excited to see Jeff Brum's offense. And you mentioned,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I think, some of the personnel on offense that can
- 16:38Speaker 3: be challenging against Pete's defense and how they're going to
- 16:42Speaker 3: play it defensively. And then how's Ole Miss going to
- 16:45Speaker 3: perform and play to that defense? Are they going to
- 16:48Speaker 3: run the football more? Is it going to be more
- 16:50Speaker 3: of a low scoring game? If Louisville gets up, I mean,
- 16:53Speaker 3: I think Ole Miss offensively this year is going to
- 16:56Speaker 3: put the ball in the hands of the quarterback. I mean,
- 17:00Speaker 3: it'd be crazy not to. I think he can bail
- 17:02Speaker 3: them out and play good defense, and we'll see where
- 17:06Speaker 3: it goes. So I do like Ole Miss because I
- 17:09Speaker 3: like the advantage at quarterback and the playmaking ability, but
- 17:12Speaker 3: this is a really good test. This may be the
- 17:15Speaker 3: most intriguing matchup of the weekend in terms of good
- 17:18Speaker 3: versus good. I mean, in terms of evenly matched teams.
- 17:21Speaker 3: This game could truly go either way, and I think
- 17:26Speaker 3: the others are more upset. This might be an upset
- 17:29Speaker 3: in a lot of people's minds, my point spread-wise, if
- 17:31Speaker 3: Louisville wins, but to me, this game could go either way.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I do like the Rebels to win, though.
- 17:37Speaker 1: SMU, Florida State, this is basically a pick-em game. Florida State,
- 17:42Speaker 1: Mike Norvell, they've got, you know, obviously there's a lot
- 17:45Speaker 1: riding on the line for Florida State. Can SMU go
- 17:47Speaker 1: in there and win this weekend?
- 17:50Speaker 3: A game under their belt. FSU. SMU, I think, has
- 17:55Speaker 3: been a really good program. Rhett's done a great job there. Absolutely,
- 18:00Speaker 3: they can come in and win. I was not overly
- 18:02Speaker 3: impressed with how Florida State played. It was week one
- 18:06Speaker 3: for them or week zero for them, whatever, their first game. Yeah, no,
- 18:10Speaker 3: this is a game at home that they need to win.
- 18:14Speaker 3: The noise, even in the win, the chatter started this weekend.
- 18:22Speaker 3: You lose this week, and the noise will get louder
- 18:26Speaker 3: and louder, and you got a chance to start losing
- 18:28Speaker 3: your team before we get out of September, I'm afraid. So, yeah,
- 18:32Speaker 3: this is big for Florida State, and I would put
- 18:34Speaker 3: this in the intrigue. So, look, I think Sunday night
- 18:39Speaker 3: and Monday night are really good matchups, not in terms
- 18:43Speaker 3: of teams that are capable of maybe competing for a
- 18:46Speaker 3: national title, But games that are intriguing in terms of
- 18:51Speaker 3: competitive matchups that may say a lot about the four
- 18:54Speaker 3: teams that are playing them.
- 18:57Speaker 1: What about Notre Dame taking on Wisconsin? Luke Fickle, boy,
- 19:00Speaker 1: he is another one that's on the hot seat. Can
- 19:02Speaker 1: they stay in this ballgame at all against Notre Dame?
- 19:05Speaker 3: It's going to be tough. That Notre Dame defense is
- 19:07Speaker 3: really good. Quarterback C.J. Carr is good. Notre Dame is
- 19:11Speaker 3: a team kind of on a mission. playoff-type run, they've
- 19:15Speaker 3: got the goods. They are absolutely good enough to get
- 19:19Speaker 3: to the playoffs and win a national championship. If they
- 19:21Speaker 3: stay healthy, they've got the defense, they've got the quarterback.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Do they have enough playmakers to win against an Ohio
- 19:29Speaker 3: State or somebody like that in the playoffs? We'll have
- 19:32Speaker 3: that discussion in January if it happens. But this is
- 19:35Speaker 3: a really good team that's going to be very tough
- 19:38Speaker 3: to beat in their regular season. I don't see Wisconsin
- 19:41Speaker 3: getting it done.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Chris, any other matchups that you'll be keying on this weekend?
- 19:47Speaker 3: Well, I'm not keying on it, but can I? I
- 19:50Speaker 3: just vent on, yeah, we get the Apple Cup on Sunday,
- 19:54Speaker 3: September 6th. I mean, hot times have changed because, you know,
- 19:57Speaker 3: the old packed up, you know, that used to be
- 19:59Speaker 3: and was a great game at the end of the
- 20:03Speaker 3: year and Thanksgiving weekend. But no, you mentioned the key
- 20:07Speaker 3: ones to me that are intriguing. I do think, I'm
- 20:11Speaker 3: curious to see how Miami, Stanford, I'm curious to see
- 20:14Speaker 3: USC against Fresno State. Now, we'll give you one on
- 20:17Speaker 3: Thursday night. Georgia Tech, pretty good team. Colorado is going
- 20:23Speaker 3: to be fun to watch. So I kind of like that.
- 20:29Speaker 3: You know, I'm curious to see what Oklahoma State does
- 20:31Speaker 3: under the new coach against Tulsa. UCLA Cal is kind
- 20:36Speaker 3: of intriguing to me. Those are some others that we
- 20:40Speaker 3: didn't get to, but that I'm kind of intrigued by
- 20:43Speaker 3: to see what happens. Tulane Duke would be another one. Yeah,
- 20:47Speaker 3: that's about it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Make sure to get him at LandryFootball.com. Make sure to

- 22:48Speaker 1: A lot of big games coming up this weekend. Now,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you said you're going to casually watch... So what games
- 22:56Speaker 1: are you going to casually watch this weekend? Like, will
- 23:00Speaker 1: you watch Ole Miss? Will you watch Mississippi State? I
- 23:03Speaker 1: know you're dying to see that Dynamite Southern Miss game
- 23:05Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 23:07Speaker 4: I'll check in on pieces of everything. It's not so
- 23:12Speaker 4: much casual. I'll look at. I love saying that to you.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Because the first time I remember the first time I
- 23:19Speaker 4: said that to you, I was like, what does that mean?
- 23:21Speaker 4: You're going to look at it. Literally, I'll look at it.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I'll get multiples. I'm going to see what's going on,
- 23:28Speaker 4: but I'm not going to devote myself to full games
- 23:32Speaker 4: here because then I won't be able to see everything
- 23:34Speaker 4: that's going on. So you'll just kind of like red
- 23:38Speaker 4: zone it, but in your own way.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Very good. All right, let's see here. I'm looking at
- 23:43Speaker 1: more depth charts. We've got a lot more oars. Kansas
- 23:48Speaker 1: is doing the oar game. Bam Crouch at linebacker or
- 23:54Speaker 1: Malachi Kirby or Jabril Al-Amin at linebacker.
- 24:01Speaker 4: All the ors.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Hawk position or. Corner or. Can we just do away
- 24:06Speaker 1: with depth charts?
- 24:07Speaker 4: You might as well.
- 24:09Speaker 1: These things are pointless. These things are pointless. A lot
- 24:12Speaker 1: of high school coaches do that now. Sam Williams was
- 24:15Speaker 1: notorious for that.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Or, or, or.
- 24:17Speaker 1: He might have just sent a big old sheet with
- 24:18Speaker 1: an or on it. Why don't they just do that?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Just one big piece of paper that says or.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Or.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Just show up. And if you want to watch the game,
- 24:28Speaker 4: just show up and watch the game. This is, you know,
- 24:30Speaker 4: this is for the, the gamblers who need to know.
- 24:34Speaker 4: You need to know who's the quarterback before the game. Well,
- 24:37Speaker 4: don't be a degenerate, you know, gambler. Just, just watch
- 24:42Speaker 4: the game.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So do you like Mississippi state to win big Saturday? Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Louisiana Monroe's it's, I know State's bad, the last thing
- 24:52Speaker 4: we saw, but Louisiana Monroe is a whole new level
- 24:55Speaker 4: of bad.
- 24:56Speaker 1: No, I agree with you. Texas, 601-885-3776. That is the
- 25:00Speaker 1: Cowboy Maloney's text line. Call us on the Mississippi Sports
- 25:02Speaker 1: Medicine call line, 601-897-1059. Ole Miss, it feels like they
- 25:11Speaker 1: could be in for a four-quarter ball game against Louisville.
- 25:13Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 25:18Speaker 4: For some reason, I still don't think so. This entire offseason,
- 25:21Speaker 4: I've just been assuming the whole time, which we know,
- 25:26Speaker 4: danger in assuming stuff. I've just had Ole Miss penciled
- 25:30Speaker 4: in for a W the entire time. I don't know why.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Louisville just doesn't. They had a pretty good season last year,
- 25:38Speaker 4: but I don't know. Just something about them, they don't
- 25:42Speaker 4: really scare me. When I see so-and-so against Louisville, I
- 25:47Speaker 4: don't think, oh, Louisville's really going to do something this week.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Or Louisville, this is their year. I never feel like
- 25:55Speaker 4: that about them.
- 25:58Speaker 1: They lost four games last year. They lost a three-point
- 26:01Speaker 1: ballgame to Virginia. They lost a three-point ballgame to Cal.
- 26:07Speaker 1: A one-point loss to Clemson. And SMU beat them mightily.
- 26:12Speaker 1: That was after two straight wins. They had a week
- 26:16Speaker 1: where they lost three. Three weeks, they lost three in
- 26:18Speaker 1: a row. The 8th of November all the way through
- 26:21Speaker 1: the 22nd of November, they kind of cradled down the stretch.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Lost two and then got blown out in the third one.
- 26:29Speaker 1: This is a team that averaged right at 30 points
- 26:31Speaker 1: a game, gave up 21 a game. I like Ole
- 26:34Speaker 1: Miss in this game. I think it could get a
- 26:36Speaker 1: little squirrely. What if Clemson stays in that game? What
- 26:40Speaker 1: if Clemson, you go into the fourth quarter and Clemson's
- 26:43Speaker 1: down by three? You think that's must watch TV?
- 26:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 1: That's must watch TV. I'm kind of pulling for that.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Are we pulling for that?
- 26:53Speaker 4: I'd like to see an awesome game.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I just, I would love to see Clemson hang around.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Let me ask you this. How obnoxious would Dabo Swinney
- 27:03Speaker 1: be in the press conference post game if they won
- 27:05Speaker 1: that game?
- 27:05Speaker 4: Oh my God. Oh, think about, think about, We haven't
- 27:11Speaker 4: even looked at it in that regard. Think about then
- 27:14Speaker 4: the two coaches you have talking back and forth about
- 27:21Speaker 4: each other. You've either got to hear from Dabo Swinney
- 27:26Speaker 4: or you've got to hear from Lane Kiffin. That's a
- 27:29Speaker 4: losing battle.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Andrew says Louisville's quarterback has thrown 30 times. So he
- 27:37Speaker 1: is an inexperienced guy. Miller Moss graduated last year, so
- 27:42Speaker 1: they are breaking another guy. Matt from Brandon. Jake, was
- 27:45Speaker 1: it you that just about guaranteed a TCU win this
- 27:48Speaker 1: past weekend? I did.
- 27:50Speaker 4: No, Matt. He didn't just about guarantee anything. This man said,
- 27:56Speaker 4: I don't care what that line jumps up to. You
- 28:01Speaker 4: take TCU to cover it.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I did. You know, but Matt, have some grace. There's
- 28:09Speaker 1: times that the weathermen tell you it's going to rain
- 28:12Speaker 1: today and it doesn't rain. It happens occasionally. You can't
- 28:16Speaker 1: hit every free throw. You can't kick every extra point.
- 28:20Speaker 1: You're going to miss them every now and then. Let's
- 28:23Speaker 1: get on a run this week.
- 28:25Speaker 4: You've brought legendary NFL quarterbacks. You brought a Hall of
- 28:29Speaker 4: Fame kicker into it. Now you're bringing the meteorologists into this.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Let's have a good week this week. The past is
- 28:38Speaker 4: the past. We can't do anything about last week, right?
- 28:42Speaker 4: All we can focus on is this week and picking
- 28:45Speaker 4: really good winners this week. I mean, look, if we
- 28:47Speaker 4: have a good week this week, nobody even remembers the
- 28:49Speaker 4: TCU game, right? Isn't that the way that works? Yeah. Now,
- 28:54Speaker 4: what happens if you're, well, I guess you won't pick
- 28:56Speaker 4: 10 this week because usually you do that when NFL starts. Well,
- 29:01Speaker 4: let's say you do, though. Let's say you go four
- 29:03Speaker 4: and six, though. Well, then what do you do, Jake?
- 29:06Speaker 4: Are we finally going to rename? If you go four
- 29:08Speaker 4: and six, can we finally get a different name than
- 29:11Speaker 4: Wim's Winners? Can we finally rename it?
- 29:13Speaker 1: Well, let's go through the season first. Let's see how
- 29:16Speaker 1: the whole season goes. I'm thinking about doing like 15
- 29:18Speaker 1: games this week.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Really?
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's week one. Why not?
- 29:22Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 29:22Speaker 1: We'll just give you a lot of winners. Here's your
- 29:24Speaker 1: extra Thanksgiving money. Here's some Christmas money. Let's get money everywhere.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Let's just do like 15.
- 29:31Speaker 4: You know that gives you the very real chance to
- 29:33Speaker 4: be four and 11 then. It could get even worse.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Possum neck, Joe. Jake, give me your total yards for.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Camario this weekend. Rushing, passing, kicking, and punt returns. Super Camario.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Joe has named him Super Camario.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I like that.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I'm going to say a Camario-Taylor stat line. Let's go...
- 29:56Speaker 1: 275 yards passing. We'll go 75 rushing. I don't think
- 30:04Speaker 1: he's going to run it a whole lot. We'll go 50.
- 30:05Speaker 1: 50 yards rushing. So 325 total yards. He'll account for
- 30:11Speaker 1: four total touchdowns.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Okay.
- 30:15Speaker 4: That must have been you texting into the Matt Wyatt
- 30:17Speaker 4: show earlier.
- 30:18Speaker 3: No.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Because someone, I don't remember who it was. It was
- 30:22Speaker 4: either that or on his YouTube, someone just put, hey,
- 30:26Speaker 4: I predict that this week, and it's not like Matt
- 30:29Speaker 4: had asked for it or anything, just someone just popped
- 30:33Speaker 4: up and said, I predict Camario Taylor with 350 total
- 30:37Speaker 4: yards and four total touchdowns this week.
- 30:40Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 30:40Speaker 4: And you were, I mean, you just gave me four
- 30:43Speaker 4: touchdowns and you were only 25 off that.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't get a chance to listen to the
- 30:47Speaker 1: Astute Matt Wyatt show today, so whatever. I don't know,
- 30:50Speaker 1: maybe it's in the football ether, as they say. J-Rock,
- 30:53Speaker 1: did he just say occasionally?
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, occasionally.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's every now and then. Come on, J-Rock. Bama Bulldog,
- 31:01Speaker 1: I think as an SEC fan, unless you are an
- 31:03Speaker 1: LSU homer, I think we all want LSU to lose
- 31:06Speaker 1: five games at least. It's ridiculous what they are trying
- 31:10Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, I would say that LSU is not
- 31:12Speaker 1: picking up any just occasional fans. Like if you're an
- 31:17Speaker 1: SEC fan of Bama or let's just say you're a
- 31:21Speaker 1: fan of State or whoever, and you'd like to pick
- 31:24Speaker 1: another team to cheer for, LSU's not picking those fans up,
- 31:27Speaker 1: are they? No, not at all. So I would say
- 31:30Speaker 1: Clemson and Dabo is going to have a large group
- 31:34Speaker 1: of the United States rooting for them this weekend. 601-885-3776

- 33:26Speaker 1: do a show. We're not doing a Labor Day show.
- 33:27Speaker 1: We don't ever do those. No Labor Day show. JC
- 33:31Speaker 1: on the Cowboy Melanies text line. One weekend of the season,
- 33:34Speaker 1: and Jake is already making– excuses for his picks one
- 33:39Speaker 1: thing is for sure they're not winners i started this
- 33:41Speaker 1: revolution and now everybody else is piling on we are
- 33:43Speaker 1: all seekers of the truth truth jake is propaganda long
- 33:46Speaker 1: live the revolution jc that was week zero we don't
- 33:49Speaker 1: even really count week zero no come on it's a
- 33:54Speaker 1: week zero pick it's a week zero pick oh jake
- 33:58Speaker 1: we got so many picks to get to this weekend i've.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Heard so many So many words today that you're trying
- 34:06Speaker 4: to get at to make up for this, to try
- 34:10Speaker 4: to convince me. It's a lot of parcel tongue is
- 34:13Speaker 4: what I'm hearing.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I mean, there's a ton of winners hidden out there. Like,
- 34:18Speaker 1: for instance, Miami-Stanford, the totals at 47.5 over feels like
- 34:23Speaker 1: a pretty easy play, 47.5. I mean, Derry-Minson in Miami
- 34:26Speaker 1: is probably going to hit somewhere around 35, 40 on Stanford.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Stanford will get a couple garbage touchdowns. You should be
- 34:31Speaker 1: able to get that one in there. you know, as
- 34:35Speaker 1: we get through the week and some more lines kind
- 34:37Speaker 1: of settle out. You know, like, for instance, I wouldn't
- 34:39Speaker 1: touch Texas versus Texas State. That Boise-Oregon game, that totals
- 34:47Speaker 1: at 51.5. You could probably feel fairly confident to play
- 34:52Speaker 1: the under, just because Boise's going to play fairly well.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That game will be a defensive ball game for a while.
- 34:59Speaker 1: So there's several games out here. LSU-Clemson. Totals at 51.5.
- 35:06Speaker 1: That game feels like an under game, doesn't it? Like
- 35:09Speaker 1: a 30-18 game or 30-17 game. So you feel real
- 35:15Speaker 1: good about that. So, JC, there's a lot of winners
- 35:17Speaker 1: out there this weekend. Let's see here. And I'm thinking
- 35:23Speaker 1: that Ole Miss-Louisville game, 55.5. That feels like an under game,
- 35:28Speaker 1: doesn't it? Like a 30-20 ballgame? Five and a half.
- 35:35Speaker 4: No, wait. In Trinidad, Chambliss, not Chambliss, is supposed to
- 35:41Speaker 4: light the world up. And that includes week one. Lighten
- 35:45Speaker 4: the scoreboard up. Give me over.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Over 55 and a half for that game?
- 35:50Speaker 4: That's what I've been told, at least.
- 35:53Speaker 1: So are you going to be watching DJ Lagway?
- 35:57Speaker 4: I haven't even thought about that. Who's Baylor playing?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Auburn.
- 36:00Speaker 4: Auburn, that's right, yeah. It might be one that I
- 36:04Speaker 4: look at.
- 36:06Speaker 3: You know what? Yes, I am.
- 36:08Speaker 4: I completely forgot about it, but now that you mention it,
- 36:10Speaker 4: I'm interested to see the beginning of DJ Lagway 2.0.
- 36:16Speaker 4: DJ Lagway 2.0, colon, the straight jacket is taken off.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Who was it that said he was in a straight
- 36:26Speaker 4: jacket last year? Who put that dumb quote out there?
- 36:29Speaker 1: Dave Aranda, his head coach.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Aranda, yeah.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Yeah, the head coach at Baylor.
- 36:32Speaker 4: That's right.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Said he was in a straitjacket. All right, so who
- 36:36Speaker 1: is the most hated team in the offseason? Is it
- 36:40Speaker 1: Texas Tech or LSU now? Texas Tech with the Brendan
- 36:43Speaker 1: Sorsby deal, or is it now officially LSU?
- 36:46Speaker 4: I think it's moved to LSU.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I think you're right. And Tom Mars, if you remember
- 36:51Speaker 1: Tom Mars, the astute attorney that was a part of
- 36:54Speaker 1: the Hugh Freeze deal and everything going on with Ole Miss,
- 36:56Speaker 1: and now he's been out here in several of these cases.
- 36:58Speaker 1: He says, quote, the SEC is going to win this case.
- 37:02Speaker 1: He feels like the SEC will win the case. Now,
- 37:04Speaker 1: we'll see what happens on Thursday. And I'm trying to
- 37:10Speaker 1: see if there's any other news on this. I think
- 37:13Speaker 1: at this point, everybody's just ready for games, and people
- 37:15Speaker 1: are tired of all the off-season news. It just continues
- 37:18Speaker 1: to keep getting in our face. All right, so any
- 37:22Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers news today?
- 37:24Speaker 4: No Rodgers news. Still quiet.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Did you see some of this footage of– Oh.
- 37:30Speaker 4: But now his, I'm sorry, now his number one receiver
- 37:34Speaker 4: is the one out there being a Janko.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Oh, what'd he do?
- 37:37Speaker 4: Oh, DK Metcalf. DK Metcalf. Apparently decided last week he
- 37:44Speaker 4: was going to go into, I think it was a
- 37:46Speaker 4: grocery store. And he took a picture of someone that
- 37:51Speaker 4: was working at the store. And it was a portly gentleman.
- 37:57Speaker 4: And DK put him up on his Instagram and made
- 38:00Speaker 4: some comment on there, making fun of this dude being fat.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sorry that you posted your super jacked,
- 38:12Speaker 4: likely steroid-riddled picture back when you were at Ole Miss.
- 38:17Speaker 4: And yeah, so now all of a sudden he feels
- 38:19Speaker 4: the need to make fun of fat people, I guess.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Because he did that classic thing where he took it
- 38:25Speaker 4: down an hour and a half later.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 38:27Speaker 4: But screenshots were taken.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Yeah, they live forever. So, yeah, there's no sense in
- 38:34Speaker 1: all that. All right, let's see here. If LSU was,
- 38:39Speaker 1: just humor me with this, kicked out of the SEC,
- 38:42Speaker 1: who would you want to see replaced with? Seriously. We're
- 38:48Speaker 1: going to go Texas Tech, Oklahoma State.
- 38:54Speaker 4: No, go over two. I just still feel like it
- 39:00Speaker 4: feels so lackluster these days. But anytime we've talked about
- 39:03Speaker 4: this conference expansion for the SEC, that is, I've always
- 39:10Speaker 4: just felt Florida State fits in there. I know they're down,
- 39:15Speaker 4: really down, really, really down. But it doesn't sound as
- 39:20Speaker 4: good now, but it's always just fit to me. I
- 39:23Speaker 4: know we don't live in a world where we know
- 39:26Speaker 4: we're supposed to go by fit anymore because geographical fit
- 39:30Speaker 4: that's not a thing but i'll stick with it.
- 39:33Speaker 1: As crazy as this uh deal is front office sports
- 39:39Speaker 1: reporting no one is backing down in the lsu scc
- 39:41Speaker 1: legal battle lsu still plans on to play nfl returnees
- 39:45Speaker 1: if they're eligible while the scc says it will defend
- 39:48Speaker 1: its ban on pro players Could you see LSU with
- 39:54Speaker 1: this governor? What's his name?
- 39:57Speaker 4: Landry.
- 39:59Speaker 1: What's his first name? Jeff. Jeff. Why don't I say Tom?
- 40:02Speaker 1: That's the coach. Jeff Landry. Saying, okay, fine. We're going
- 40:05Speaker 1: to be an independent. We're going to become the southern
- 40:08Speaker 1: version of Notre Dame. And we're going to pull out
- 40:10Speaker 1: of the SEC and we're going to just be Notre
- 40:13Speaker 1: Dame South. Is that believable at this point? No, I
- 40:21Speaker 1: don't think it works. I don't think it works the same.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Because then you're I think then you would have you
- 40:28Speaker 4: would have a situation pop up where people would refuse.
- 40:33Speaker 1: To schedule you. I think you'd run into some scheduling
- 40:36Speaker 1: problems that way. Churros is nothing like a man with
- 40:40Speaker 1: a nose ring body shaming somebody.
- 40:43Speaker 4: That's a good point. Also, still thinking about this LSU
- 40:46Speaker 4: thing and you don't have. You don't have an entire
- 40:50Speaker 4: church behind you like Notre Dame does.
- 40:53Speaker 1: True.
- 40:53Speaker 4: You don't have the Catholic church behind.
- 40:56Speaker 1: You and all that.
- 40:59Speaker 4: You are the exact opposite. They are allegedly Christian folk.
- 41:05Speaker 4: You're dealing with the church, and LSU, you steal money
- 41:07Speaker 4: from a children's hospital.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Allegedly.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Allegedly.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:11Speaker 4: All allegedly.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Let's see here. Nebraska's depth chart is out, and we
- 41:16Speaker 1: got a lot of oars. Let's just do away with
- 41:19Speaker 1: depth charts. Let's just do away with them. They're meaningless.
- 41:22Speaker 1: They're meaningless. I even say in high school football, do
- 41:25Speaker 1: away with them. Who cares? Just use the roster. Nebraska, linebacker,
- 41:32Speaker 1: Vincent Shavers or Dexter Foster or Derek Wacker or Derek Wacker.
- 41:38Speaker 1: That's a good linebacker name. That's a real good linebacker.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Let's see here real quickly. Dog Tire Florence. Good grief.
- 41:44Speaker 1: TCU costs the U.S. a bunch of money. Thanks, Sonny Dykes.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Memphis looks strong and fast. The ACC better be aware.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Or the AAC better be aware. And let's see. JC.
- 42:00Speaker 1: We also didn't count last season. Of course we did.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And we finished above the board, JC, on last season. KW.
- 42:07Speaker 1: North Carolina to the SEC Jordan money. What do you
- 42:10Speaker 1: think about North Carolina?
- 42:14Speaker 2: No.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Always overrated. To begin a season.
- 42:20Speaker 1: No, I think so. All right, listen, I'm trying to
- 42:22Speaker 1: see did I miss anything else? I don't think so.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I think we covered it all today. Any other news
- 42:27Speaker 1: we need to get out there? Are you going to
- 42:28Speaker 1: this Weird Al Yankovic still at the Brandon Amphitheater? We'll
- 42:33Speaker 1: have tickets for it.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Doubtful, but I'm kind of intrigued by it.
- 42:38Speaker 1: This is October 4th. We'll be giving away tickets for this.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I told you, I didn't even know he was still
- 42:44Speaker 1: a thing. How has this man lasted so long?
- 42:49Speaker 4: I don't know. Yeah, he's still out there.
- 42:52Speaker 1: He is still out there. So we will be giving
- 42:53Speaker 1: away tickets to this. Also, I want to remind you,

- 43:19Speaker 1: Chris Landry. Remember, ketchup is king. Bacon's a delicacy. Aloha
- 43:22Speaker 1: means goodbye. Be a man of increase. We have reached
- 43:25Speaker 1: the crescendo on a Monday. We will have a full
- 43:29Speaker 1: stack of winners for you this week. Good night.
