- 1:14Ray Comfort: Thanks, ZZ.
- 1:17Emeal Zwayne: Did you?
- 1:17Ray Comfort: really totally.
- 1:18Ray Comfort: Yeah, I lost it.
- 1:19Ray Comfort: I just lost that train of thought.
- 1:20Emeal Zwayne: Thanks, Mark.
- 1:21Ray Comfort: Yeah, thank you very much.
- 1:22Ray Comfort: I was thinking of cats.
- 1:22Ray Comfort: You are what you eat.
- 1:24Ray Comfort: Yeah, you are what you eat, yeah, and you are what you are.
- 1:26Ray Comfort: Oh, people that watch horror movies yeah, just absolutely ghastly murderous slashes and blood everywhere.
- 1:34Ray Comfort: How do they not dream about things like that?
- 1:36Ray Comfort: Because what you take in, even years later, you're going to work out within your own psyche, because we're so complex.
- 1:47Emeal Zwayne: Do you guys remember the movie from back in the day?
- 1:49Emeal Zwayne: Throw Mama from the Train.
- 1:51Emeal Zwayne: What?
- 1:52Mark Spence: Yes, I didn't see it, though.
- 1:53Mark Spence: Was it Danny DeVito?
- 1:55Ray Comfort: Yes, mark, that was a kid's movie.
- 1:57Emeal Zwayne: No, a kid's movie.
- 1:58Emeal Zwayne: That sounds like it.
- 1:59Emeal Zwayne: It was Danny DeVito and he was going to try to throw his mom from a train.
- 2:04Emeal Zwayne: I think I'm going to produce a new movie called uh, throw your Arab son-in-law uh into a ditch and let him die.
- 2:11Emeal Zwayne: Cause Ray, recently you almost killed me I did yeah Again when yeah.
- 2:16Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, Um, in our lounge he wasn't even there, but I know you set a trap for me.
- 2:21Emeal Zwayne: You guys remember the little thingies that we used for the ping pong tables that held the little balls on the sides.
- 2:28Ray Comfort: Oh, the magnet, yeah, the very powerful magnet.
- 2:30Ray Comfort: Yeah, yeah, they're called idiot magnets, People that don't know how to handle them.
- 2:34Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, you set those idiot magnets up on the shelf in the lounge and I'm like, oh, it's just almost killed me.
- 2:44Ray Comfort: Wait, I'm missing something.
- 2:45Mark Spence: How did the magnet almost kill you?
- 2:46Mark Spence: Because they were separated.
- 2:48Emeal Zwayne: Wait, I'm missing something.
- 2:49Emeal Zwayne: How did the magnet almost kill you?
- 2:50Emeal Zwayne: Because they were separated.
- 2:51Emeal Zwayne: They were like in two spots and I move one or something, and they came together.
- 2:53Ray Comfort: These aren't ordinary magnets.
- 2:55Emeal Zwayne: They're dangerous magnets, but you used to do stuff with the Were.
- 2:58Emeal Zwayne: You doing stuff with magnets.
- 2:59Ray Comfort: We made a thousand little magnet boxes and we learned to handle them with great care, otherwise you're in great pain.
- 3:04Ray Comfort: Did you ever hurt yourself?
- 3:05Ray Comfort: Yes, many times.
- 3:07Emeal Zwayne: Is that what happened to?
- 3:08Ray Comfort: your face.
- 3:08Ray Comfort: Yeah, I just came two magnets, one each side.
- 3:11Emeal Zwayne: They are seriously dangerous.
- 3:13Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, you know these things like they come together and they clash like Like teenagers at a youth camp.
- 3:22Emeal Zwayne: They're loud, they're crazy.
- 3:25Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, ray, why?
- 3:26Emeal Zwayne: Why do you play with magnets and stuff?
- 3:28Emeal Zwayne: I'm always attracted to them.
- 3:30Emeal Zwayne: Remember those ones that were the little square ones, yes, or no.
- 3:37Emeal Zwayne: The round ones.
- 3:38Emeal Zwayne: Yes, you could mold and shape.
- 3:40Emeal Zwayne: Oh, really, you've been having dreams or something.
- 3:43Ray Comfort: Yeah, You've been dreaming Easy yeah.
- 3:45Ray Comfort: My magnetism there was a big magnet in the store that's about 100 times stronger than the ones you've got In the store.
- 3:53Ray Comfort: Yeah, the one that you've got to point the wand at it and it repulses, oh yeah.
- 3:58Emeal Zwayne: That's very, very powerful.
- 3:59Emeal Zwayne: Ray, you like making people feel stupid when they come out with that.
- 4:01Ray Comfort: Well, I don't have to try with you, it's natural.
- 4:10Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, so you love doing that with the kids that come in.
- 4:12Emeal Zwayne: Try to put what.
- 4:13Emeal Zwayne: Is it A good?
- 4:15Ray Comfort: test Hit the spot.
- 4:16Ray Comfort: Yeah, you've got a wand and you have to touch the red dot if you think you're a good person, and the powerful magnet repulses the wand.
- 4:23Ray Comfort: Yeah, and it really is fun.
- 4:25Ray Comfort: Do you guys know how magnets work?
- 4:26Ray Comfort: Yes, they attract or they repulse.
- 4:29Ray Comfort: I don't understand it, but atheists don't believe in it because you can't see it.
- 4:33Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, there's no such thing as magnetic force.
- 4:35Ray Comfort: Yes.
- 4:36Emeal Zwayne: One of my favorite things we ever produced was the box the.
- 4:41Emeal Zwayne: Are you a Good Person?
- 4:43Ray Comfort: That's the one that I made.
- 4:44Ray Comfort: Over a thousand of those.
- 4:45Ray Comfort: I made them at home because we're not allowed to manufacture on the premises, so we did them at home.
- 4:50Emeal Zwayne: Oh, those were the best.
- 4:51Emeal Zwayne: Yes, I used to carry one with me when I did evangelism.
- 4:54Ray Comfort: Oh really, yeah, yeah, we loved doing it until one day we just thought we don't like doing this anymore.
- 4:59Emeal Zwayne: Like the penny machine.
- 5:01Oscar Navarro: Oh, that was disgusting, did you hear about the magnetic train they're building to take you from LA to Las Vegas.
- 5:05Oscar Navarro: No, it's a train in a vacuum-sealed tube that's propelled by magnets.
- 5:11Oscar Navarro: Seriously, it's supposed to be one of the fastest trains in the world, and how much does it cost?
- 5:14Oscar Navarro: Him Like $15.
- 5:17Ray Comfort: It's insanely like billions and they can't raise money for it and they've wasted money.
- 5:22Oscar Navarro: Yeah, the thing was like.
- 5:23Oscar Navarro: Actually I don't even want to guess.
- 5:29Emeal Zwayne: It was billions of dollars.
- 5:29Emeal Zwayne: That's amazing when you think about the things that man discovers that God had created.
- 5:31Emeal Zwayne: When was the first time that man experienced magnetic force like that?
- 5:38Ray Comfort: Yeah, someone found those two things that I left in there.
- 5:43Emeal Zwayne: And they got killed.
- 5:45Emeal Zwayne: Sparks, that's how fire was discovered.
- 5:48Emeal Zwayne: All right friends.

- 6:14Emeal Zwayne: I praise the Lord because it was both convicting and encouraging.
- 6:18Emeal Zwayne: By God's grace, he used it to convict me of not pursuing him faithfully, of apathy and walking in personal holiness, as I ought to.
- 6:26Emeal Zwayne: He has rekindled me to sincerely pursue him, to walk in personal holiness and walk faithfully to his glory, as Psalm 119 says.
- 6:35Emeal Zwayne: How can a man keep his way pure?
- 6:37Emeal Zwayne: By keeping it according to your word.

- 6:45Emeal Zwayne: I too, like Josiah, am the first believer in my generation and praise the Lord for it.
- 6:50Emeal Zwayne: Thank you all once more.
- 6:52Emeal Zwayne: May God bless and keep you all and strengthen you in all your efforts.

- 7:52Emeal Zwayne: Didn't you watch it?
- 7:53Emeal Zwayne: Was that about South Africa and the All Blacks?
- 7:55Emeal Zwayne: Be careful what you say.
- 7:57Ray Comfort: Why the whole controversy was that South Africans gave poisonous food to the All Blacks and they got sick before the World Game and they lost because they were all weak.
- 8:07Ray Comfort: Did South Africa admit it?
- 8:09Ray Comfort: That was the whole premise of the movie, if I remember correctly.
- 8:13Ray Comfort: What's the name of the movie?
- 8:17Emeal Zwayne: Ray, why didn't you play rugby?
- 8:18Emeal Zwayne: You did Use the ball I'm around.

- 8:52Emeal Zwayne: It's easy reading.
- 8:53Emeal Zwayne: Every once in a while, someone will send me a picture from the airport.
- 8:57Oscar Navarro: I've seen them on airport racks.
- 9:01Emeal Zwayne: It's not a big, thick book, but it's packed with good stuff.
- 9:04Emeal Zwayne: What's cool, Ray, is how you're not going to write any more books yeah, you said that ray yeah, right.
- 9:10Ray Comfort: And then he, I was I was wrong, let your I apologize and ask your forgiveness, so you've got to forget it are you writing any books right now?
- 9:18Emeal Zwayne: I found out from the text you just sent me before the podcast I'm writing a book.
- 9:22Emeal Zwayne: What are you writing?
- 9:25Ray Comfort: right, it's called jesus amplified and it's from the Amplified Bible.
- 9:29Ray Comfort: All the words Jesus said in the Amplified Bible and if you look at what he said in the normal versions that we read, it says things like blessed are the meek, which means highly favored or happy are the meek.
- 9:41Ray Comfort: But the Amplified Bible expands to the original Greek and it's so fascinating.
- 9:45Ray Comfort: I was reading Jesus Wept this morning in the Amplified Bible.
- 9:48Ray Comfort: It Greek and it's so fascinating.
- 9:49Emeal Zwayne: I was reading Jesus Wept this morning in the Amplified Bible it was 15 chapters.
- 9:54Emeal Zwayne: That wouldn't surprise me at all.
- 9:56Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, so yeah, ray, keep writing books.
- 10:04Mark Spence: You know, I just read, macarthur has written 400.
- 10:05Emeal Zwayne: What 400.
- 10:06Emeal Zwayne: But he also said he's never written a book.
- 10:07Emeal Zwayne: That's true.
- 10:07Ray Comfort: They're all taken from his sermons.
- 10:08Emeal Zwayne: Oh, yeah, yeah, that's kind of.
- 10:09Emeal Zwayne: I mean, how resourceful, though you know because you read the books and you can't really tell because they, you know they modify them.
- 10:16Emeal Zwayne: But how cool that he studies for his sermons, preaches them.
- 10:20Emeal Zwayne: They're so good that they can take them and turn them into books.
- 10:22Emeal Zwayne: It's pretty cool.
- 10:23Emeal Zwayne: All right, friends.
- 10:26Emeal Zwayne: Oh yeah, don't forget the Living Waters mug, the Evidence Study Bible, all at livingwaterscom.

- 10:38Emeal Zwayne: Yip right mugs, oh yeah.
- 10:40Oscar Navarro: Oh, the yip right mugs Yip right.
- 10:42Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, they might be out by now, friends, so get the mug, so get them out.
- 10:44Emeal Zwayne: They have to say yeah, brian, what's that one?
- 10:46Emeal Zwayne: Mark, yeah, oh yeah, the ultimate cure for insomnia with the Z's.
- 10:50Emeal Zwayne: All right, friends, Today we are talking about what does the Bible say about dreams?
- 10:58Emeal Zwayne: Here's my song.
- 10:59Emeal Zwayne: I dreamed a dream.
- 11:01Emeal Zwayne: I dreamed a dream.
- 11:03Emeal Zwayne: I dreamed a dream.
- 11:04Emeal Zwayne: The dream I dreamed was a dream.
- 11:07Oscar Navarro: I am so impressed with our listeners that will listen after that Well.
- 11:13Ray Comfort: I'm so impressed with Easy's humility.
- 11:15Ray Comfort: If I sung like that, I'd just be so proud.
- 11:17Ray Comfort: I'd never want to face anyone again, but it doesn't worry.
- 11:20Emeal Zwayne: Easy, because it's good.
- 11:21Emeal Zwayne: Many keep pleading that I keep singing, I must, I must.
- 11:25Ray Comfort: In the deaf society.
- 11:26Mark Spence: My kids say that they love it when you sing.
- 11:28Mark Spence: They, I must, and the deaf society?
- 11:29Mark Spence: My kids say that they love it when you sing.
- 11:31Emeal Zwayne: They're wise.
- 11:31Emeal Zwayne: No, no, they make fun of it.
- 11:31Emeal Zwayne: They laugh all the time they're insightful.
- 11:36Oscar Navarro: Yes, have you guys ever dreamt that you were an inanimate object?
- 11:40Oscar Navarro: Tell us.
- 11:41Oscar Navarro: I had a dream that I was a muffler.
- 11:47Ray Comfort: Oh, I had that when you felt exhausted.
- 11:48Emeal Zwayne: when you woke up, you knew that one right.
- 11:50Ray Comfort: Yes, yes.
- 11:52Emeal Zwayne: Oh, that's a good one.
- 11:52Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, dreams man.
- 11:57Emeal Zwayne: It really is strange, you know you go into this world of insanity.
- 12:00Emeal Zwayne: We've talked about it before.
- 12:04Ray Comfort: And these things happen.
- 12:05Ray Comfort: No, you go into the world of insanity.
- 12:06Ray Comfort: We have dreams.
- 12:07Ray Comfort: I'm always in the world of insanity.
- 12:08Mark Spence: You really do more than anybody I've ever seen.
- 12:10Mark Spence: That's why we never share a hotel room anymore.
- 12:12Mark Spence: You ever wake up and Easy's over you with his eyes as big as saucers just staring at you.
- 12:18Ray Comfort: Yeah, it's frightening.
- 12:19Ray Comfort: You can make a movie of it.
- 12:21Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:22Emeal Zwayne: But yeah, I mean, you go into the state of like, where you can't control what's happening, and you go into these realms of just crazy.
- 12:32Ray Comfort: And you don't know who's doing the programming.
- 12:34Emeal Zwayne: That's just you by the way that's just me so seriously.
- 12:37Emeal Zwayne: You guys ever have like reoccurring dreams that just like keep going?
- 12:42Oscar Navarro: I do have reoccurring dreams about once a year.
- 12:43Oscar Navarro: I've had a few over the course of my life and there's one that I've had since I can remember I have it once a year.
- 12:49Oscar Navarro: It's really weird.
- 12:51Oscar Navarro: Like once a year, like once-ish a year, maybe twice a year Is it on your birthday.
- 12:56Oscar Navarro: No, I have this dream.
- 12:57Oscar Navarro: This is so ridiculous, guys, I can't believe I'm sharing this.
- 12:59Oscar Navarro: I have this dream that I am not a person.
- 13:08Oscar Navarro: I'm like this giant bubble, but like I'm a conscience bubble and I'm at the bottom of a screen.
- 13:13Oscar Navarro: Conscience or conscience like I.
- 13:14Oscar Navarro: I have, like I can, I know, I have self-awareness.
- 13:15Oscar Navarro: Conscious, you're a conscious, that's what I said, but I have a mexican accent you could use that with anything couldn't you?
- 13:23Oscar Navarro: and my goal is to get like up.
- 13:25Oscar Navarro: But there's all these other gigantic bubbles around and I have to maneuver through them and if I bump into them they'll absorb me and I'll lose my like, I'll lose self.
- 13:36Ray Comfort: That's just the podcast.
- 13:37Ray Comfort: That's all that happens on the podcast.
- 13:39Oscar Navarro: I do.
- 13:40Oscar Navarro: I have this dream like once a year and I you know what it was too.
- 13:43Oscar Navarro: Is that I?
- 13:43Oscar Navarro: The scariest movie ever watched when I was a kid was Dumbo.
- 13:47Oscar Navarro: Do you remember the bubbles in that movie?
- 13:52Emeal Zwayne: No, we don't watch dumb movies.
- 13:55Oscar Navarro: My parents wouldn't allow me to watch that.
- 13:56Oscar Navarro: I don't know what, I can't even remember because I haven't seen this movie in forever, but the Disney movie Dumbo.
- 14:01Oscar Navarro: There's this scene where there's these bubbles floating around and he's floating through them and it scared me when I was a kid and ever since then I have this reoccurring dream of bubbles.
- 14:08Oscar Navarro: I was a kid and ever since then I have this reoccurring dream of bubbles.
- 14:11Emeal Zwayne: Oscar, I don't mean to pop your bubble, but it's weird, that's impossible.
- 14:16Ray Comfort: Yeah, you have one, I have one.
- 14:18Emeal Zwayne: What is it?
- 14:18Ray Comfort: Ray, I think you dream your fears and for years, probably for 30 years, I've had this dream that reoccurs not every year, but every now and then that I'm in a pulpit, thousands of people and I cannot find my place in my Bible in my big fat Bible.
- 14:32Ray Comfort: I'm going like this and it's just horrifying me and it's like just goes on and on and on until it ends.
- 14:38Ray Comfort: I don't know how it ends, but you dream your fears.
- 14:42Emeal Zwayne: No, you do.
- 14:43Emeal Zwayne: I had one recently where I was supposed to be in a play Is this going to be a long story, very and I had a part in a play, in a play and it was like you know, they were going through the play.
- 14:55Emeal Zwayne: I'm like, oh, I have time.
- 14:56Emeal Zwayne: And then I was late for it and I showed up.
- 14:59Emeal Zwayne: Oh, that's the nightmare.
- 15:00Emeal Zwayne: The worst, the worst was I did it a second time in my dream and I'm like, no, no, no, that's not my MO, I don't normally do that.
- 15:07Emeal Zwayne: They're like this was a second time.
- 15:09Oscar Navarro: You were late.
- 15:10Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, I was late Hi.
- 15:12Ray Comfort: Mark Good, what?
- 15:14Ray Comfort: What's your horrifying dream?
- 15:16Mark Spence: Well, I don't have horrifying dreams.
- 15:17Mark Spence: I do have a superpower in my dreams where I can just jump really high and far.
- 15:21Ray Comfort: Oh yeah, All the time, oh yeah, where you fly and you wake up and you're it for the podcast.
- 15:28Ray Comfort: Have you forgotten Potato bugs?
- 15:30Mark Spence: Yeah, tell us about potato bugs.
- 15:31Mark Spence: What am I going to say about potato bugs?
- 15:33Ray Comfort: You had something interesting to say about potato bugs.
- 15:35Emeal Zwayne: I don't remember why I was going to say it.
- 15:36Emeal Zwayne: They were really ugly Talk about nightmare.
- 15:38Ray Comfort: We were talking about bugs, Hoo-hoo grubs from New Zealand that the natives ate, and you said they're like potato bugs and you had come across any potato bugs, this specific potato bug.
- 15:58Mark Spence: send me pictures of that potato bug, because we don't have them here and I'm so fascinated by them.
- 16:02Mark Spence: I'd go in my backyard and just dig up something, find a potato bug, take a picture, send it up to him and he'd get so excited.
- 16:08Mark Spence: I'm like, wow, I go in and he goes how do they taste?
- 16:13Ray Comfort: No, he didn't say that, was he hungry or something?
- 16:18Emeal Zwayne: I have to say potato bugs are the grossest bug.
- 16:21Ray Comfort: Are they localized?
- 16:21Ray Comfort: Are they just America?
- 16:23Emeal Zwayne: They're big but they look like they have real human faces.
- 16:27Mark Spence: They're pretty good once you bake them Not with the carnivore diet I do.
- 16:33Oscar Navarro: My other reoccurring dream, by the way, is I'm swimming in a pool, but the water is like orange soda.
- 16:40Oscar Navarro: It's my fantasy.
- 16:46Emeal Zwayne: Did you just look that up, oscar, I may have had it.
- 16:49Oscar Navarro: Yeah, I'm reserved.
- 16:50Emeal Zwayne: Oscar came ready with dream jokes, oh yeah.
- 16:54Emeal Zwayne: But you know, I think, in light of the topic we're talking about today, that a lot of people are radically impacted by their dreams.
- 17:03Emeal Zwayne: I mean, I'll wake up sometimes having had a dream and it can really affect me for a good part of my day.
- 17:08Emeal Zwayne: And I think that's the question before us today.
- 17:12Emeal Zwayne: Right, as believers, we'll look at some of the different dreams in scripture and kind of the tone and tenor of dreams.
- 17:17Emeal Zwayne: But where are we today in God's economy in terms of dreams?
- 17:25Emeal Zwayne: Right, we know, in the Old Testament, even in the New Testament, dreams were used by God for different reasons.
- 17:30Emeal Zwayne: But how does that apply today?
- 17:33Emeal Zwayne: Can God direct us through a dream?
- 17:35Emeal Zwayne: Should we be looking for direction through dreams?
- 17:41Ray Comfort: I often seek God for a dream, do you Old men?
- 17:44Ray Comfort: No, they're called snooze.
- 17:46Oscar Navarro: Old men will dream dreams.
- 17:48Ray Comfort: No, no, no, no, no.
- 17:49Ray Comfort: In the last days I'll pour out my spirit in all flesh and young men will see visions.
- 17:53Ray Comfort: Old men dream dreams.
- 17:54Ray Comfort: I have visions in my sleep.
- 17:55Ray Comfort: Oh they're not dreams.
- 17:57Emeal Zwayne: So you're a young man, mm-hmm, that's what it is.
- 17:59Emeal Zwayne: Mm-hmm.
- 18:00Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, let's open that up and start talking about it guys Dreams, it guys dreams.
- 18:07Emeal Zwayne: So Old Testament, mark, I think you were talking about some different Old Testament.
- 18:13Mark Spence: I think everybody's kind of got those, the maybe the top ones, right.
- 18:16Mark Spence: We have Jacob's ladder, joseph's dreams and Pharaoh's dreams.
- 18:20Mark Spence: Those are the kind of top three where we'd see that God would actually communicate divinely through dreams and he would accomplish what he would want to do.
- 18:29Mark Spence: We would see guidance through dreams with Joseph and Mary, pilate's wife.
- 18:34Mark Spence: You don't have nothing to do with this unjust man.
- 18:37Mark Spence: So we do see many different biblical examples.
- 18:40Mark Spence: We can expand on those if you'd like, ez, but many different examples how God would lead us, direct us, prophecy would take place.
- 18:47Mark Spence: We see that with Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar's dreams There'd be the symbolism of different future kingdoms that would take place.
- 18:56Mark Spence: And then general wisdom we would see.
- 18:59Mark Spence: In Ecclesiastes it says for in the multitude of dreams, many words, there are also device vanities.
- 19:05Mark Spence: I like a simple text there in Ecclesiastes, chapter 5, verse 3, where it says a dream comes through much activity.
- 19:15Mark Spence: And as I was kind of researching that a little bit, I didn't do a deep dive by any means, but I would see an overarching interpretation to that, being that we kind of dream about whatever activity is overloading inside of our hearts and our minds, inside of our daily life, things of that nature, sigmund Freud.
- 19:36Mark Spence: He proposed that dreams are a manifestation of our deepest desires and anxieties, often related to repressed childhood memories or unconscious thoughts.
- 19:45Mark Spence: You know, I believe you quoted Freud, a maniac in the central realm as he's really been known for.
- 19:54Mark Spence: Thanks, mark, and I did a little bit of a deep dive study on the science behind it, and there's several different ideas as to why we dream, and then there's the most common one.
- 20:06Mark Spence: We can discuss that later if you'd like.
- 20:08Emeal Zwayne: Yeah yeah, no, that's good, yeah.
- 20:11Emeal Zwayne: And again we see in the Old Testament a lot of different instances where dreams were used, and sometimes in kind of emergency-type situations.
- 20:22Emeal Zwayne: You have Abimelech, who had taken Sarah up because Abraham had said she was his sister and put her into his harem.
- 20:31Emeal Zwayne: And then God sends him a dream don't touch Sarah, because she's Abraham's wife.
- 20:35Ray Comfort: That was a nightmare.
- 20:36Ray Comfort: He freaked out.
- 20:37Emeal Zwayne: He's like what have?
- 20:38Emeal Zwayne: You done to me.
- 20:39Emeal Zwayne: You have, of course, joseph and his famous dreams, but talk about tact.
- 20:47Emeal Zwayne: I think about Joseph sharing that dream with his brothers.
- 20:50Emeal Zwayne: Some dreams ought not to be shared.
- 20:53Ray Comfort: Well, if you figured it out, you've got to share it with your wife and realize in the first sentence how dumb it was.
- 20:58Oscar Navarro: It seems good in your brain.
- 21:00Ray Comfort: I'm going to tell her there's this elephant that was pink and I was holding onto its trunk, floating across the sky, and then, hang on, forget it.
- 21:05Ray Comfort: I was eating sushi made out of cat.
- 21:09Mark Spence: She just falls off.
- 21:11Emeal Zwayne: And I've heard of people getting upset with other people for their dreams.
- 21:15Emeal Zwayne: Oh yeah, how dare you.
- 21:16Oscar Navarro: What do you mean?
- 21:17Oscar Navarro: Have you guys ever done that?
- 21:18Ray Comfort: Yeah, your wife gets upset.
- 21:20Ray Comfort: You had a dream about you.
- 21:21Oscar Navarro: You were horrible.
- 21:21Oscar Navarro: I've had to apologize for Dream Oscar.
- 21:24Oscar Navarro: He sounds like a real something.
- 21:27Oscar Navarro: Dream Oscar, yeah, she'll wake up.
- 21:29Oscar Navarro: She's like you were meeting me in my dream last night.
- 21:31Oscar Navarro: I'm like I am so sorry.
- 21:35Mark Spence: I elbowed my wife in my sleep one time.
- 21:36Mark Spence: It had nothing to do with the dream, but she was upset at me.
- 21:39Mark Spence: I told her I was awake.
- 21:43Emeal Zwayne: It was better for me.
- 21:44Emeal Zwayne: I do it on purpose.
- 21:46Ray Comfort: Anyway, you should never give up on your dreams.
- 21:48Ray Comfort: Stay in bed.
- 21:51Emeal Zwayne: No, but seriously, there have been times when I've gotten up real early and I was dreaming something.
- 21:55Emeal Zwayne: I'll intentionally go back to sleep to continue.
- 21:58Oscar Navarro: Yeah, I want to see what happens.
- 22:00Oscar Navarro: It's a good dream.
- 22:00Oscar Navarro: Yeah, like if you're dreaming that you're a superhero or you have a superpower, you don't want to wake up from that dream.
- 22:06Ray Comfort: Yeah, you dreamed that you're flying.
- 22:08Ray Comfort: I have, yeah, I have.
- 22:09Ray Comfort: It was just a wonderful experience.
- 22:11Ray Comfort: It was the best.
- 22:11Ray Comfort: Disappointed when I woke up.
- 22:13Emeal Zwayne: No, but what Mark mentioned earlier with the jumping and flying, like I run and I jump and as I kick my legs I go higher and higher.
- 22:23Mark Spence: Yeah, as I go, like this Flat my wings.
- 22:24Mark Spence: No, no, no, no, no, no no.
- 22:27Emeal Zwayne: What's crazy, though, is how you have the different people have similar types of dreams, yeah, you know.
- 22:32Emeal Zwayne: Or the, the falling one, oh, the worst one you're and then you wake yourself.
- 22:36Emeal Zwayne: Oh, that happens to me all the time.
- 22:37Emeal Zwayne: Oh, or you jump because something's coming at you or something.
- 22:40Mark Spence: Yeah I have dreams that I beat up easy all the time, every night, I'm just pummeling them.
- 22:44Mark Spence: Keep dreaming.
- 22:45Oscar Navarro: When I have dreams, that's all it is when I have dreams that I'm fighting, though I'm always it's like fighting underwater, like my punches are super slow and they don't make real strong contact.
- 22:55Emeal Zwayne: Or I'm trying to scream but my voice won't come out.
- 22:57Ray Comfort: I heard that the other night.
- 23:04Oscar Navarro: You know, I think there's at least three different kinds of dreams that we can experience, and I think it's important to just differentiate between those things, because I think we can assume that one kind of dream is these types of dreams that you're rightfully bringing up in the old Testament.
- 23:15Oscar Navarro: But first you alluded to the idea, the first kind of dream, mark Spence.
- 23:19Oscar Navarro: You alluded to this first kind, which is the subconscious processing of dreams, and that's the science behind dreaming, is that when we are asleep, our memories, our past events, repressed desires, unfulfilled hopes, all these things are starting to be processed, like our brains are kind of like computers in which they take the experience, memories, repressed hopes from the day and they start storing them in certain areas of our minds.
- 23:48Ray Comfort: And most of the-.
- 23:55Oscar Navarro: Can you give an example of repressed hope?
- 23:56Oscar Navarro: Certain areas of our minds and most of the example of repressed hope?
- 23:55Oscar Navarro: Um, you know, um, the desire for a relationship If you're a single person.
- 23:55Oscar Navarro: A repressed hope?
- 23:55Oscar Navarro: Uh, most of the mind we know is subconscious, which means it's not stuff that we regularly actively utilize.
- 24:03Oscar Navarro: Um, and when we dream, we know it comes from the back of our, our brains, our prefrontal cortex, which is the part of our mind that is the fact checker that's asleep, and instead the amygdala, which is the area of our brain that has fear, emotion, imagination, which also passes through memory, that's firing on all cylinders, which, side note, is the reason why creatives often have like a spark of excited ideas in the middle of the night, and authors will have a pen and paper by their bedside, musicians will do the same thing.
- 24:45Oscar Navarro: That's the time where our mind is storing things and it activates the imagination.
- 24:51Oscar Navarro: Now and I know, ray, you just pointed out, ray, mark, I think you've woke up in the middle of the night and wrote entire books right Almost Now.
- 25:01Oscar Navarro: The challenge with this is that we tend to take these dreams that come from our subconscious and we try to interpret them through biblical language, or we try to imagine that there's some divine dream given to us by God, but these dreams are separate.
- 25:19Oscar Navarro: Those do happen, and I think we can talk about those later.
- 25:21Oscar Navarro: I think the thing that's interesting about our subconscious dreams you just mentioned this is that they're actually influenced by culture you mentioned.
- 25:31Oscar Navarro: Isn't it weird that we often have similar dreams, dreams of teeth falling out of punches?
- 25:36Oscar Navarro: That's because we have inherited narratives from our culture and we share that narrative, and that affects our subconscious when we are dreaming, and so we can have these shared themes because we share cultural identity.
- 25:52Oscar Navarro: Now here's the thing that's important those dreams are not given to us by God in the same way that he gave dreams to the gentlemen and ladies that you just mentioned in the Old Testament.
- 26:05Oscar Navarro: However, it's also important to recognize that God, in his sovereignty, does bring about mundane events in our lives and he attends for us to use those events.
- 26:22Oscar Navarro: I'll give you an example.
- 26:23Oscar Navarro: I knew a guy at a church who, years after this event happened, but he was explaining this to us in a men's Bible study one time.
- 26:33Oscar Navarro: He said that he, in the early part of his marriage, started to enter into a flirtatious relationship with somebody not his wife, and that he had a dream at night that scared him, like, like it, just it scared him.
- 26:50Oscar Navarro: It scared him awake and he realized that he was headed towards a pattern that would ultimately lead to adultery.
- 26:57Oscar Navarro: Now he recognizes God didn't send him that dream, the same way that the Old Testament examples that you just gave easy Rather.
- 27:05Oscar Navarro: God used his subconscious, used his subconscious, his experience, his repressed desires, and he used the dream that he had to remind him of his law and compel him towards repentance.
- 27:22Oscar Navarro: So those subconscious dreams can still be used by God, but they are categorically different than the dreams that you just mentioned in the Old Testament, that's good, yeah, you know, and I think the key is striking balance.
- 27:36Emeal Zwayne: Right, you know there is a danger, mark, wouldn't you say, in searching things out through things like dreams or signs, or because God's given us his written revelation.
- 27:52Mark Spence: Yeah, you don't.
- 27:53Mark Spence: You don't need a dream when you have God's word.
- 27:55Mark Spence: Yeah, right, it's.
- 27:56Mark Spence: It's a perfect word, it's an inerrant, inspired, infallible word.
- 28:00Mark Spence: So when we go outside of God's word for anything dealing with truths concerning God and and direction for our lives that have already been laid out inside of God's word, you're you're in danger.
- 28:11Mark Spence: I mean, it's as if God didn't think about something you know.
- 28:15Mark Spence: He has your days laid out, he knows what's up.
- 28:18Mark Spence: Remember the Bible doesn't tell us everything we want to know, but it tells us everything we need to know.
- 28:23Mark Spence: There was a guy who wrote a book Several Minutes in Hell.
- 28:27Oscar Navarro: I forget what it was called but it was all based on a dream 23 minutes in hell.
- 28:29Mark Spence: 23 minutes in hell, all based upon a dream that he had.
- 28:31Mark Spence: Well, how do you fact check them right?
- 28:34Mark Spence: You had a dream, okay.
- 28:35Mark Spence: Well, I had a dream.
- 28:35Mark Spence: It's like somebody come up and said hey, I had a dream that you're supposed to.
- 28:38Mark Spence: In fact, I met with a couple recently and I asked them for their story on how they met, how, and this woman said no joke, I had a dream that he was going to be my husband.
- 28:53Mark Spence: They are having all kinds of marital problems right now and I go.
- 28:59Mark Spence: I just want to understand this correctly.
- 29:01Mark Spence: So you guys are together because you had a dream and inside the dream, you were told that he is supposed to be your husband.
- 29:09Mark Spence: Yeah, what did he say?
- 29:11Mark Spence: He just smiled.
- 29:13Mark Spence: I mean, he was happy with it.
- 29:14Mark Spence: He was happy, but he goes.
- 29:15Mark Spence: Look she.
- 29:15Mark Spence: And in fact, during the midst of that time, she said you know, he's nothing like anybody that I would ordinarily go for.
- 29:22Mark Spence: Right there in the midst I was like, wow, yeah, yeah.
- 29:24Mark Spence: So relying upon a dream is very dangerous.
- 29:27Mark Spence: That's case in point.
- 29:28Ray Comfort: Martin Luther King had a similar problem.
- 29:31Mark Spence: I have a dream.
- 29:33Mark Spence: He said it seven times.
- 29:40Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, no, that's so true.
- 29:41Emeal Zwayne: And, friends, that's why we're discussing this today, you know, because there are excesses in everything right, and I think Oscar and Mark struck the balance in this that the danger is in when we begin to lead our lives on the basis of things that are extra biblical, and we're looking for those things and we're making them our focus.
- 29:57Emeal Zwayne: Now, as Oscar mentioned, can God direct us in a way where we have a dream, just like if we have a thought that pops into our mind, right, and that leads us to do something right and righteous and holy, absolutely, you know?
- 30:15Emeal Zwayne: I mean, if you have a dream and it inspires you towards something good or righteous, that's great.
- 30:18Emeal Zwayne: The danger is when you start making that like an authoritative thing in your life.
- 30:22Emeal Zwayne: And God told me this, and this is, you know, this is gospel truth.
- 30:26Emeal Zwayne: Ray, you're going to say, oh, I was going to say.
- 30:29Ray Comfort: I know a dear Christian brother, who I see now and then, who keeps telling me he has dreams of me riding a white horse.
- 30:34Ray Comfort: And I've told him I don't have a white horse, leave me alone, I said, take no notice of it.
- 30:41Ray Comfort: Dreams in the Old Testament stayed in the realm of craziness.
- 30:44Ray Comfort: I mean, you think fat cows eating thin cows and thin cows eating more was the thin cows ate the fat cows?
- 30:49Ray Comfort: Yeah, you know.
- 30:49Ray Comfort: No wonder they needed to do that.
- 30:52Ray Comfort: You wouldn't even tell your wife about that.
- 30:53Ray Comfort: One, honey, I dream a cat ate the dog.
- 30:56Ray Comfort: What do you think of that?
- 30:57Ray Comfort: Is that the Lord?
- 30:58Ray Comfort: Also, dreams could be caused by too much Mexican food spicy.
- 31:04Ray Comfort: And also too many blankets on you can cause you to have dreams If you get too hot in bed.
- 31:08Ray Comfort: Holes in beds, hot.
- 31:10Ray Comfort: Holes in beds, hot, oh, holes in beds.
- 31:11Ray Comfort: If it gets too hot, I go down to the hole.
- 31:14Mark Spence: We used to have somebody that used to send in a handwritten letter as if he was in second grade, and he said here's the dream that I had, and God told me that you were going to interpret it and these letters would come in all the time.
- 31:26Oscar Navarro: Here at the ministry, at the ministry, at the ministry.
- 31:28Oscar Navarro: I was just trying to get your attention.
- 31:30Mark Spence: We knew it was you.
- 31:32Mark Spence: We know who it was.
- 31:34Oscar Navarro: Yeah we do.
- 31:35Oscar Navarro: One of the other things we haven't talked about is another kind of dream is spiritual attacks.
- 31:40Oscar Navarro: Yeah Right, some dreams are given to us by the enemy Jeremiah 23, 32,.
- 31:51Oscar Navarro: Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin, and so that's an important reality, too is that our sin nature and spiritual warfare can often give us a dream that will direct us in a direction that's harmful to ourselves and even sinful against the Lord.
- 32:07Emeal Zwayne: Oh, man, that's so important to remember that, you know, our fallen, sinful nature is capable of connecting with all sorts of ridiculous, wicked, sinful things.
- 32:18Emeal Zwayne: And yeah, there is that, that, that dynamic element, the spiritual dynamic element where, yeah, there could be things like that.
- 32:24Emeal Zwayne: I mean, there are times when I've woken up and I'm like, ok, that that felt like a demonic type of dream you guys have had.
- 32:31Mark Spence: Oh, I've had tons of these night terrors.
- 32:33Mark Spence: Right, Really, when you're being attacked, you know it's spiritual and you're just trying to say Jesus.
- 32:39Ray Comfort: Boy, you just stole my thunder.
- 32:40Ray Comfort: I had the exact words.
- 32:41Ray Comfort: Go ahead and say it yeah, well, I was just going to say do you guys ever had that experience where you know it's demonic and there's no noise coming from your mouth and you're trying to say the name Jesus?
- 32:51Mark Spence: That's horrific, it's horrible.
- 32:53Mark Spence: And then, finally, when you yell Jesus, when it finally comes out, it's like you wake up.
- 32:58Ray Comfort: Seriously, it's like the craziest thing, and then it takes about 10 minutes to recover from that feeling.
- 33:03Emeal Zwayne: Yeah for sure.
- 33:04Emeal Zwayne: And so I think it's important to keep all these things in their context.
- 33:08Emeal Zwayne: And, look, there are times when I think you can have a kind of dream that can really um set you on a course that can kind of manifest itself at different points in your life in a positive way.
- 33:21Emeal Zwayne: You know, I remember one time having a dream that, uh, all of our kids had died and but it was, you know, one of those where, like, you're like this is real and you're, you're, and even in your dream you're thinking I wish I was dreaming, because you're really thinking you're, you're in reality.
- 33:38Emeal Zwayne: You know, you're like I wish this was a dream, you know.
- 33:41Emeal Zwayne: But, yeah, one time all my kids had died and I had never experienced such deep grief.
- 33:45Emeal Zwayne: In fact, it woke Rachel up because I started to cry in real life, you know, because it was that deep and I just it was like, but that affected me in a way where I it makes me just value every moment with my children.
- 33:59Emeal Zwayne: You know the realization, like, yeah, life is fleeting.
- 34:02Emeal Zwayne: I need to make the most of every opportunity, the moments when you know I mean you hear those stories you get in an argument with one of your family members, your kids, your wife.
- 34:10Emeal Zwayne: They leave, they get in an accident, they die.
- 34:12Emeal Zwayne: You're left with that for the rest of your life.
- 34:16Mark Spence: You know, there's certain medications that affect the central nervous system where they will give you crazy, vivid dreams.
- 34:23Mark Spence: I remember in the late 90s I went to Uganda and I think you were part of that trip as well.
- 34:27Emeal Zwayne: I was about to share the same thing, oh yeah.
- 34:37Mark Spence: I was telling both of you guys's thunders and I know it's uh, it was to prevent, uh, malaria, yeah, this medicine that we were told to take.
- 34:40Mark Spence: And I remember telling robbie, uh douglas, say man, I just had the most vivid dreams.
- 34:41Mark Spence: He's all.
- 34:41Mark Spence: It's because you're taking this western medicine that you shouldn't take.
- 34:43Mark Spence: We don't take any of that medication over here.
- 34:45Mark Spence: Uh, and we're fine, says the guy who had like malaria six.
- 34:48Emeal Zwayne: Robbie robbie, robbie.
- 34:50Emeal Zwayne: Robbie has malaria.
- 34:51Emeal Zwayne: Give me the dream.
- 34:52Mark Spence: But as soon as we stopped the, as soon as I stopped taking that medication.
- 34:55Mark Spence: You know those very, very vivid dreams.
- 34:58Ray Comfort: Well, they go to a bad dreams.
- 35:00Mark Spence: Oh, they were just vivid and just crazy.
- 35:02Mark Spence: Yeah, I had this crazy dream that.
- 35:05Oscar Navarro: I was like I was at this campsite and somebody had like, had like like at this campsite and somebody had like, had like like tied me up and was like shoving this giant bag of marshmallows down my throat and when I woke up my pillow was gone.
- 35:22Mark Spence: You can't stop the smiling as you're telling the story.
- 35:25Ray Comfort: Raise nostrils flare when he's yeah it's not more than about two feet.
- 35:31Emeal Zwayne: Yeah.
- 35:32Emeal Zwayne: So let's talk a little bit about guilt from dreams, because you know there are times when you have unclean dreams.
- 35:41Emeal Zwayne: I'm not going to get into detail in that regard, but I think a lot of people struggle in that regard.
- 35:48Emeal Zwayne: It's like am I responsible for that?
- 35:50Emeal Zwayne: Am I not responsible for that?
- 35:51Emeal Zwayne: Do I repent over that?
- 35:51Emeal Zwayne: Am I not responsible for that?
- 35:52Emeal Zwayne: Do I repent over that, do I not?
- 35:53Emeal Zwayne: And I know there are some people that beat themselves up over it and it's like, man, I can't stop these dreams, and so I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on that.
- 36:03Ray Comfort: Well, your guys' thoughts.
- 36:05Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, you've never heard of that.
- 36:05Emeal Zwayne: Goises, goises, y'all, y'all, y'all's thoughts, your Y'all's thoughts, your guys's.
- 36:16Emeal Zwayne: It does sound weird, guys's, guys's, guys's, guys's, sorry.
- 36:18Mark Spence: Mac, you were saying no, I mean, I've had different guys come and talk to me, you know about this sort of thing, and I would say, listen, don't overthink it.
- 36:23Mark Spence: You know, confess it if you feel you need to confess something, but just move on, just move on from it.
- 36:29Mark Spence: And uh, dwelling long on something like that is is never a good idea.
- 36:35Mark Spence: Yeah, dwelling long on, fill in the blank, if it's not scriptural and biblical and beautiful and righteous and wholesome and pure and things from above, well then it's just not a good idea.
- 36:46Mark Spence: Yeah, right, so if somebody comes to me and they have an impaired dream, I say, yeah, well, acknowledge it before the Lord and just move on.
- 36:53Mark Spence: What point do you have here?
- 36:55Mark Spence: It's going to make you ineffective for the day.
- 36:57Mark Spence: I talked to guys way back when I had, like this guy's house and I'd say, hey, how are you doing?
- 37:02Mark Spence: How are you doing spiritually?
- 37:03Mark Spence: And they would tell me how they're doing physically or not doing physically.
- 37:09Mark Spence: You know what I mean, right?
- 37:10Mark Spence: And I said, no, listen, that's not what I'm asking.
- 37:12Mark Spence: I'm asking how are you doing spiritually?
- 37:13Mark Spence: How are you really doing?
- 37:16Mark Spence: How is the true you doing?
- 37:18Mark Spence: And the enemy would love to make us ineffective by having us dwell upon things that may or may not drive us closer to the Lord, and then the idea is just simply move on, just move on.
- 37:31Mark Spence: I think there's an obscure scripture in Job that says that God loves us too much to burden us down with the everyday monotonies of sin.
- 37:39Mark Spence: Right, we forget the fact that we're just sinners, right?
- 37:42Mark Spence: No, we're saints who occasionally sin.
- 37:43Mark Spence: I understand theologically, but we can be overburdened on each individual sin.
- 37:49Mark Spence: That we forget that, man, we're just a bunch of blow-its.
- 37:52Mark Spence: Move forward.
- 37:54Mark Spence: Maybe God is convicting you over certain things.
- 37:56Mark Spence: We'll acknowledge those things, but move on and be quick to move on.
- 38:00Mark Spence: Be quick to forget those things which lie behind and press onward and push upward towards the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
- 38:05Mark Spence: Yeah, that's good.
- 38:07Oscar Navarro: I would say something very similar, mark.
- 38:09Oscar Navarro: I would say something in the effect of like look at that, you know dream that you wish you didn't have is.
- 38:15Oscar Navarro: Is the Lord revealing some dark area of your heart, some deep desire of you that you that you feel like now would be a good time to just God, take this out of me, get this away from me, or is he showing you something that you realize I don't want, that, I don't want that thing?
- 38:31Oscar Navarro: And then to your point like, take a moment to reflect on the the, the way you can, um, consider the dark areas of your heart.
- 38:40Oscar Navarro: And then to your point, mark, move on.
- 38:42Oscar Navarro: It's okay to to just trust in the grace of God and to move forward from that point forward.
- 38:48Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, and we've talked before about the two sides of that coin.
- 38:50Emeal Zwayne: God knows your heart, right.
- 38:52Emeal Zwayne: For the unbeliever it's a terrifying thing.
- 38:54Emeal Zwayne: For the believer it's a refreshing thing because he knows, first of all, my desire and my spiritual man.
- 39:02Emeal Zwayne: Right, it's a Galatians 5 dynamic of the flesh lusts against the spirit, the spirit against the flesh.
- 39:08Emeal Zwayne: These are contrary to one another, so that you may not do that which you please.
- 39:11Emeal Zwayne: Who's the you there?
- 39:12Emeal Zwayne: The you is the regenerated spiritual man.
- 39:15Emeal Zwayne: So God knows that.
- 39:16Emeal Zwayne: He knows you don't desire that, and so there's that consolation in that, even in a dream that you had that wasn't pleasing to the Lord, the Lord knows you didn't want that.
- 39:26Emeal Zwayne: But you have, of course, the fallen nature and you have spiritual attacks, and then you have just the nature of things, right.
- 39:34Emeal Zwayne: In a fallen world, these things can pop into your mind.
- 39:36Emeal Zwayne: So, yeah, my encouragement is first of all, don't be condemned, because there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
- 39:43Emeal Zwayne: And if you feel compelled to say, lord, forgive me for whatever part I had in that, in my sinful nature, that's fine, um, but but don't, yeah, don't dwell on it, don't get worked up in it.
- 39:54Emeal Zwayne: I would say this, and Ray, I'd love you to touch on this a bit.
- 39:58Emeal Zwayne: Um go ahead.
- 40:02Ray Comfort: Yeah, you know, when you, um, you have a dream well, I do my conscience is always there.
- 40:08Ray Comfort: Yeah, in the dream, right, there's something's something there saying hold it, this isn't right.
- 40:13Ray Comfort: Yeah, and so that when we have those sort of dreams, yeah, so.
- 40:17Emeal Zwayne: So here's the thing I'd like you to comment on.
- 40:19Emeal Zwayne: Not that, but um sudden noise.
- 40:22Emeal Zwayne: Um, people would be wise to examine what they're dwelling on, though in their waking hours.
- 40:31Emeal Zwayne: That's good, because, because if someone is having unclean dreams, impure dreams, and they're looking at impure things and thinking on impure things, they're very culpable in that.
- 40:42Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, and not just unclean, impure things, but watching movies that have things in them that are dishonoring to the Lord, whether it's extreme violence or it's vulgarities or whatever.
- 40:54Ray Comfort: Yeah, you are what you eat and same spiritually what you take in.
- 40:58Ray Comfort: You become, and I often think I'm a cat yeah, you think about cats, yeah, you freak out.
- 41:05Ray Comfort: Yeah, so what I was talking about was great.
- 41:07Ray Comfort: Thanks, zz, you forgot.
- 41:09Ray Comfort: Yeah, so what I was talking about was great.
- 41:13Emeal Zwayne: Thanks ZZ, Did you really totally lose?
- 41:15Ray Comfort: it.
- 41:15Ray Comfort: Yeah, I lost it.
- 41:16Ray Comfort: I just lost that train of thought, thanks, Mark.
- 41:18Ray Comfort: Yeah, thank you very much.
- 41:19Ray Comfort: I was thinking of cats.
- 41:19Ray Comfort: What am I?
- 41:20Emeal Zwayne: going to say about cats, you are what you eat.
- 41:21Ray Comfort: Yeah, you are what you eat.
- 41:22Ray Comfort: Yeah, and you are what you are.
- 41:23Ray Comfort: Oh, people that watch horror movies yeah, murderous slashes and blood everywhere.
- 41:31Ray Comfort: How do they not dream about things like that?
- 41:33Ray Comfort: Because what you take in, even years later, you're going to work out within your own psyche, because we're so complex.
- 41:39Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, I mean right, cause and effect.
- 41:40Emeal Zwayne: Don't be the kind of person who's complaining that you're having horror dreams.
- 41:45Emeal Zwayne: When you're constantly watching horror movies, you're filling your heart and mind with that.
- 41:50Emeal Zwayne: You're giving your brain material to take and to do weird things with Right.
- 41:55Emeal Zwayne: Because I mean, in terms of weirdness we know, so often the dreams make no sense at all.
- 42:00Emeal Zwayne: It's like you're in a certain place that you know, but it's a totally different place.
- 42:05Emeal Zwayne: But in your mind you're thinking this is my house, but you're like in another building in another country.
- 42:10Emeal Zwayne: You know, and so your brain does weird things.
- 42:13Emeal Zwayne: You don't want to give it fodder.
- 42:15Ray Comfort: Where does deja vu come into it?
- 42:16Ray Comfort: Wait, didn't you just say that I did just before?
- 42:18Ray Comfort: But deja vu is kind of weird, where we think we've been somewhere before we imagine it.
- 42:24Ray Comfort: Sometimes you can go into a dream realm in a split second.
- 42:29Ray Comfort: I do that sometimes when I go to have a snooze.
- 42:31Ray Comfort: Dream realm in a split second.
- 42:35Ray Comfort: I do that sometimes when I go to have a snooze.
- 42:36Ray Comfort: I'm just watching TV and then suddenly I'm into a dream within like a second.
- 42:38Ray Comfort: That's how I get through these podcast recordings when I used to travel with Ray.
- 42:42Ray Comfort: No wonder I've watched you.
- 42:43Mark Spence: When Ray would have trouble falling asleep, Ray would go Mark, I'm having trouble falling asleep, Tell me your testimony.
- 42:50Ray Comfort: Start when you were two.
- 42:51Ray Comfort: Just talk to me Mark.
- 42:53Ray Comfort: It all began when I was two years old.
- 42:57Emeal Zwayne: Yeah.
- 42:57Emeal Zwayne: And so, guys, I'd love to wrap up with maybe just some encouragement oh, do you?
- 43:03Emeal Zwayne: You're going to rap, I'm going to rap, I'm going to do it all the time.
- 43:07Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, but I'd like to wrap up with just thoughts on what we can do before we go to sleep to try to fill our minds, because I think that's key.
- 43:18Emeal Zwayne: Right, putting things into our minds that may help us in our dreams.
- 43:22Emeal Zwayne: Right, drink milk.
- 43:26Mark Spence: Dream about cows.
- 43:27Ray Comfort: Do you drink milk?
- 43:27Mark Spence: with your carnivore diet.
- 43:28Emeal Zwayne: Yeah yeah, I do, I had some last night before bed.
- 43:30Mark Spence: I love cold milk.
- 43:31Mark Spence: Did you sleep well?
- 43:32Mark Spence: I don't remember.
- 43:34Mark Spence: Laura put me on the couch.
- 43:35Mark Spence: No, she did not Is it.
- 43:37Mark Spence: I absolutely love cold, cold milk.
- 43:40Mark Spence: Easy doesn't understand people who just grab a cup of milk.
- 43:43Ray Comfort: It's a land flowing with milk.
- 43:45Ray Comfort: Wait, is it probably like?
- 43:46Emeal Zwayne: milk.
- 43:47Emeal Zwayne: I detest milk.
- 43:48Emeal Zwayne: Oh, I love milk.
- 43:49Oscar Navarro: By itself.
- 43:50Mark Spence: That's probably why your bones are so frail by itself I sneak away into the garage where we have a refrigerator with milk.
- 43:56Mark Spence: It's ice cold.
- 43:57Mark Spence: I love ice cold milk.
- 43:59Emeal Zwayne: I don't understand it.
- 44:01Emeal Zwayne: Milk with Easy if you hit Priya for this.
- 44:03Emeal Zwayne: Milk with chocolate syrup, Milk like chocolate milk.
- 44:06Emeal Zwayne: Milk with cookies?
- 44:08Emeal Zwayne: Give me a break.
- 44:08Emeal Zwayne: Milk in your tea, Cookies.
- 44:10Emeal Zwayne: Milk in your tea.
- 44:10Emeal Zwayne: You treat milk like you drink coffee.
- 44:11Emeal Zwayne: Milk by itself Delicious.
- 44:15Oscar Navarro: It's like coffee by itself.
- 44:17Oscar Navarro: Yeah, it doesn't say they come back with chocolate, milk and honey.
- 44:24Emeal Zwayne: Land flying with chocolate, milk and honey.
- 44:25Emeal Zwayne: No, actually in the original.
- 44:26Ray Comfort: Seriously, it's an old wife's tale, but it may be true that milk helps you sleep.
- 44:31Emeal Zwayne: Well, is it true, the whole warm milk thing?
- 44:33Emeal Zwayne: Drink warm milk.
- 44:34Ray Comfort: Lukewarm.
- 44:34Ray Comfort: No, no, not lukewarm, but hot milk's nice Right, cold milk's pretty warm.
- 44:39Emeal Zwayne: So, Mark, any ideas?
- 44:40Emeal Zwayne: What can our minds dwell on before we go to sleep?
- 44:42Emeal Zwayne: Easy.
- 44:43Mark Spence: Oh, steve Lawson dwells on one thing before he goes to bed, which is really a great idea he reads missionaries and the lives of missionaries, biographies, autobiographies.
- 44:55Mark Spence: Does that put him to sleep?
- 44:56Mark Spence: And he has written tons of books, biographies, on Puritans and people that have come before.
- 45:01Mark Spence: But he said it does wonders to his sleep and it lights a fire underneath them.
- 45:05Mark Spence: Wow, that's good.
- 45:07Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, yeah, you know, rachel and I typically end our evening with prayer and the word, and it's a delight to do that, you know, to end with God's Word in your heart, having talked to the Lord and then, especially as a couple, being able to come before the Lord together.
- 45:23Emeal Zwayne: But, yeah, I mean, there was someone recently that I heard who says, oh, I think it was John Piper.
- 45:30Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, he recites a verse to himself, that's right, I think before he goes to bed and and it it.
- 45:38Emeal Zwayne: I can't remember exactly what it was, but it's something powerful that impacts him in terms of, like, remembering who he is in the Lord and who God is.
- 45:44Emeal Zwayne: And and so we're all different.
- 45:47Emeal Zwayne: You know there are different things that we can come up with, but think about that, right, what are you, in general, filling your heart and mind and soul with?
- 45:55Emeal Zwayne: And that may be the thing that might show up in your dreams, so don't be surprised.
- 46:01Ray Comfort: Read books about dreams.
- 46:03Emeal Zwayne: Oh yeah, dreams.
- 46:04Oscar Navarro: I do want to praise the Lord for something, because he does, throughout the Old Testament and New use, dreams to advance his kingdom and he appears to still be doing that today.
- 46:13Oscar Navarro: But pause for a second.
- 46:14Oscar Navarro: In the book Gospel Trilogy, greamey Goldsworthy I'm probably mispronouncing, pronouncing missaying his first- name.
- 46:23Ray Comfort: You're not getting the word pronounced correct.
- 46:25Emeal Zwayne: I'm mispronouncing the word mispronouncing Oscar.
- 46:27Oscar Navarro: The irony you need an award for that.
- 46:30Oscar Navarro: That's meta.
- 46:30Oscar Navarro: He says this every case of special guidance given to individuals in the Bible has to do with that person's place in the outworking of God, gives special and specific guidance to the ordinary believing Israelite or Christian and their details of their personal experience.
- 46:57Oscar Navarro: In other words, what he's saying is that God works through the New and Old Testament, through dreams, to advance his kingdom.
- 47:06Oscar Navarro: Not to tell you who you're going to marry, not to tell you what to do next in a relationship, certainly never anything that contradicts scriptures.
- 47:13Oscar Navarro: And so here's where I want to praise the Lord.
- 47:15Oscar Navarro: There are so many testimonies that I've heard of coming out of places like the Middle East, the 1040 window, where preaching the gospel can get you killed, where people will have never heard the gospel before.
- 47:29Oscar Navarro: They will have a dream and, as they would describe, it's a dream about Jesus.
- 47:35Oscar Navarro: The gospel is preached, they repent and come to a saving faith.
- 47:38Oscar Navarro: And so my point is praise the Lord that he seems to still be working through dreams today, but recognize that it's always in the advancement of his kingdom, amen, amen.
- 47:53Emeal Zwayne: Yeah, I mean a dream that leads to salvation.
- 47:55Emeal Zwayne: That's amazing.
- 47:56Emeal Zwayne: That's a dream that I could put my seal of approval on and say, Lord, yeah, you, by your grace, just like you would through the word preached, you know, pierce someone's heart.
- 48:05Mark Spence: I found the scripture that John Piper oh, he did, yeah, I don't know if you want me to quote it or say the reference.
- 48:09Mark Spence: It's Habakkuk 3, verses 17 to 18.
- 48:12Mark Spence: He said, though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls yet, yet, yet I will rejoice in the Lord and I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
- 48:30Mark Spence: And it's just a reflection for him on the deep trust of God and in God's salvation.
- 48:36Emeal Zwayne: One of my favorite verses, actually so beautiful.
- 48:38Emeal Zwayne: You know that heart that says I trust you unconditionally, lord, and so well, friends, there you have it.
