- 3:01Sunny mornings send you. In local news, with
- 3:07a spring nor 'easter approaching, residents are
- 3:09preparing for the worst. Meanwhile, Massachusetts'
- 3:13Executive Office of Energy and Environmental
- 3:15Affairs has introduced a new draft Coastal Resiliency
- 3:19Plan. This plan aims to create a home buyout
- 3:23program for those in flood -prone areas, responding
- 3:26to a study predicting over $1 billion in annual
- 3:30coastal storm damage by 2070. Joe Cristo, Chief
- 3:35Resilience Officer for Boston Harbor Now. emphasized
- 3:39the importance of addressing the challenges posed
- 3:42by sea -level rise and storm surge. Now on to
- 3:50sports. In Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals,
- 3:54the Oklahoma City Thunder overcame a strong first
- 3:58half from the Minnesota Timberwolves, securing
- 4:01a decisive 114 -88 victory. Shy Gilgis Alexander
- 4:07initially struggled but finished with a game
- 4:10-high 31 points, along with nine assists and
- 4:13five rebounds. Tensions rose between him and
- 4:17Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, resulting
- 4:20in a technical foul for Edwards. Julius Randle
- 4:24led Minnesota with 28 points but faded in the
- 4:27second half as the Thunder dominated. Oklahoma
- 4:31City's bench proved superior, contributing to
- 4:34a 70 -40 scoring advantage in the second half.
- 4:38Game two is set for Thursday night. In local
- 4:42sports. Yesterday afternoon at Fenway, the Sox
- 4:46shut out the Mets 2 -0. Narvaez and Devers each
- 4:51blasted solo homers, leading to a Sox victory.
- 4:56Whitlock earned the win. The Sox bullpen, capped
- 5:00by a Chapman save, kept the Mets at bay with
- 5:03five hits and no errors, bringing the Sox to
- 5:05a record of 25 -25 with a much -needed win in
- 5:09the back bay. Tonight, the Sox face the Mets
- 5:13again at Fenway for the final game of this three
- 5:16-game series looking for the sweep. Garrett Crochet,
- 5:20with a 2 .06 CRA, squares off against Tyler Megill.
- 5:26First pitch is at 645, with clear skies and a
- 5:30crisp 50 degrees in Boston. In top news, Medicaid
- 5:36may not hold the same political weight as Social
- 5:39Security, but it is a crucial issue akin to a
- 5:43Costco hot dog. Covering nearly 80 million Americans,
- 5:47mostly with low incomes, Medicaid and the Children's
- 5:51Health Insurance Program account for about one
- 5:53-tenth of the annual United States budget and
- 5:5618 % of total health care spending, totaling
- 6:00nearly $800 billion per year. Amid discussions
- 6:04about a tax and spending package, President Donald
- 6:07Trump urged Republican lawmakers not to cut Medicaid,
- 6:11but instead to target tremendous waste, fraud,
- 6:14and abuse within the program. He emphasized,
- 6:18we're not changing Medicaid. and we're not changing
- 6:21Medicare. In business news, stock trading appears
- 6:27to be relatively healthy, yet a recent rise in
- 6:31options hedging strategies suggests that challenging
- 6:34times may lie ahead for investors. As earnings
- 6:38season concludes, attention shifts to various
- 6:41market -moving factors, including tariff negotiations
- 6:44and economic reports. The recent uptick in hedging
- 6:49activity particularly ahead of anticipated interest
- 6:52rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, signals a potential
- 6:55shift in market dynamics. Aggressive investors
- 6:59might explore a ratio spread hedge strategy,
- 7:02which could maximize profits while navigating
- 7:05the complexities of market volatility. This approach
- 7:09aims to leverage potential stock movements and
- 7:12the influence of sophisticated traders. In crypto
- 7:16movement, Bitcoin is up 1 % to about $108 ,000.
- 7:23Ethereum is up 1 % to just under $2 ,600. And
- 7:29Goatsies Maximus is down 2 % to $0 .16. Moving
