- 0:12What's up everybody, beautiful people around the world.
- 0:15It is your host Simone and your Co host Lala and welcome back to
- 0:20I was thinking, yeah, I always say that it's it's been a
- 0:26minute, but it has truly been a minute.
- 0:28So this was supposed to come out like technically last.
- 0:32Week. Yeah, it's supposed to come out
- 0:34this current week. We were supposed to record it
- 0:36last week. Yes, time.
- 0:39Time is weird, especially since I will put this out, end up a
- 0:42week later. Yes, whatever, Lala said.
- 0:45Yes, but we're back real quick. How are you?
- 0:51Pretty good, nothing too crazy. Getting used to a new job so my
- 0:57schedule is a little, I don't want to say wonky, but I'm
- 1:01exhausted by the end of it. I mean, that's understandable.
- 1:04You got to get used to the work culture there.
- 1:06New coworkers. And now it's like a job to the
- 1:09office. Yeah, the traveling to the
- 1:12office, getting, it takes an hour for me to get home after
- 1:16work because of traffic. So by the time I get home, I'm
- 1:21just exhausted. I'm like, I just want to eat and
- 1:22I just want to go to sleep because I got to wake up the
- 1:24next day and do it all over again.
- 1:26So understandable. I mean, hopefully it won't take
- 1:28you too long. I would say like maybe a month
- 1:30or two. You should be fully adjusted so.
- 1:34Yeah, hopefully. How have you've been?
- 1:37Same old, same old, trying to get my health in order, working,
- 1:42all that good stuff. I have started the jaw punt
- 1:46again, even though I'm not fully healed.
- 1:48But I'm low key tired of remote work.
- 1:52I need to find something to Get Me Out of this apartment.
- 1:55So whether it's hybrid, yeah, whether it's hybrid or fully
- 1:59back in office, I'm fine. But I kind of need to.
- 2:02I need to go back outside is what I'm saying.
- 2:05I think US earth signs are not meant to stay indoors for very
- 2:10long because I, I'm feeling a lot better now that I've started
- 2:14this like hybrid job. So I think a hybrid would even
- 2:18be a really good one for you. That makes sense because I can
- 2:22tell my mental has take because if I'm in this house I'm not
- 2:26leaving unless I'm forced out of this house which is sad to say
- 2:31but it is what it is. Yeah.
- 2:33But also, it's been extremely hot.
- 2:35So it's like, why do I want to leave, you know, global boiling,
- 2:38all that, all that great stuff. But that's not what we're here
- 2:41to talk about today. The world ends.
- 2:44We have a very long episode today, as you can see by the
- 2:47title. So we'll go ahead and jump into
- 2:50it. But real quick, we do have a BTS
- 2:53corner. You know, again, we're both
- 2:56armies. So we got to, we got to
- 2:58celebrate our men, starting with Jen, who had officially started
- 3:01his tour, kicking off the first two shows in Seoul.
- 3:05And then he was in, I believe this is pronounced Chiba, which
- 3:09is in Japan. And then I think the weekend
- 3:12that we're recording now, he's in Osaka before he comes over to
- 3:16the States. Are you excited?
- 3:19I am very excited. I'm just excited to have a
- 3:22member finally come to Florida and I hope they like it enough
- 3:25to where he's like, Oh yeah, we got to go there for the group.
- 3:28Please come here for the group. I missed my chance.
- 3:31It's 2020 because of COVID. OK, let's keep going.
- 3:35We don't need to. I know, I know.
- 3:38But yes, we will talk about Jed's tour, but it will be after
- 3:41I see him so and hopefully we can get Gina on here because
- 3:44she's going with me. It's me, her and her daughter
- 3:47Emma. So I'm very excited.
- 3:48I'm going to be her kids for the first time.
- 3:51Yay. Yes, pray for me because I'm
- 3:53very awkward around children. Oh, you'll be.
- 3:56Fine, I know and they're they're like they're older pre teen, but
- 4:01still that's. What I mean, they'll be fine
- 4:03because I'm pretty sure they're just going to be chill back so
- 4:06it'll be fine. You'll be fine.
- 4:07Yes. And then we also do have Hobie
- 4:09doing Hobie Palooza in Berlin this this Sunday while we
- 4:14record. But obviously, again, it'll be
- 4:16over once this episode's out, so.
- 4:18He's going to do amazing, though.
- 4:20I mean, listen, I went to Hobie Palooza in Chicago.
- 4:23That was such an amazing show. So I'm I'm sure he's going to
- 4:28kill it. They are live streaming it,
- 4:30aren't they? I think so, yeah.
- 4:31I think they're live streaming it on the actual Bonkton like TV
- 4:34YouTube channel so. OK.
- 4:36Yeah. I might have to make sure to
- 4:38catch that. We need to find out the time,
- 4:40OK? But then also we're only really
- 4:43breaking them up because on July 1st we finally got our post
- 4:49military OT 7 and I'm so happy. It wasn't like in the middle of
- 4:55the night where I missed it because I was so scared that was
- 4:58going to happen. And I just happened to be
- 4:59sitting at work and I saw it said BTS started their live.
- 5:03And I was like, OK, is this a promotional thing that I forgot
- 5:06about or is this actually them? And then when I clicked on it
- 5:09and saw those seven faces, I was like, oh, I'm gonna start
- 5:12crying. Well, I have to answer these
- 5:13phones to try to not sound like I've been crying.
- 5:16Fine, it's fine. Listen, you got lucky.
- 5:20I was at work so I couldn't even click on to like see it.
- 5:24I was, I like I saw the thumbnail and I was like, oh,
- 5:26they're doing their live, they're back together.
- 5:28I'm like, OK, I'll have to like watch the replay of it later.
- 5:31Yeah, but it was so nice to see their faces and seeing them
- 5:35together. Obviously I've already watched
- 5:37the live so they're chaotic. So everybody, welcome back to OT
- 5:427. Nothing has changed when they're
- 5:45all together we got we'll be throwing himself again as
- 5:48laughter going off gym with his dad jokes.
- 5:51Yep, Mockney line flirting with each other non June rambling.
- 5:56It's great. It's great.
- 5:57And you, you know the old man. Yes, being an old man and
- 6:01whispering and making fun of Jimin.
- 6:04The the moment that the I think it was German, yeah.
- 6:08Jimin was bringing up some of like the slang words.
- 6:10I like focused in on young. And you can see Yungi like kind
- 6:13of like these young kids. Like you could see the facial
- 6:17expression in him. I'm like, oh, there's my old
- 6:19man. It was so.
- 6:23Great, it was so great and I really love that live too
- 6:27because again, it just shows how much they're in control of their
- 6:30own work because we did get a confirmation from them
- 6:32themselves. They're going to start working
- 6:34on a group album with plans to release it next spring, so in
- 6:39spring 2026. So get ready, all money ready
- 6:43for everything, OK? Especially with the maybe
- 6:47tariffs being put on Japan and South Korea.
- 6:51But yeah, we're not even going to touch that.
- 6:54OK, no, we're not acknowledge that.
- 6:56But but, but, but along with the album announcement, they also
- 7:01did announce a tour for come spring of next year.
- 7:05So really, get your pockets ready.
- 7:09And it's interesting that they're, well, they're right
- 7:12there now except for like Jen and Hobie, that they're
- 7:14recording this in the States. I found that interesting when
- 7:17they said that. I have my theories on why
- 7:20they're doing it in the States, but I kind of I want to look
- 7:25more into it before I say anything.
- 7:29We can talk about it later. Yes.
- 7:31Well, we kind of did. We kind of did.
- 7:34I think I've already told you like my theory privately.
- 7:37Yeah. You're.
- 7:37Going to have to tell me again later I forgot but it's it's
- 7:40fine. It's fine, don't worry.
- 7:42Yes, so they'll. Be in LA approximately about two
- 7:46months it seems like. I think they're going to be
- 7:49longer because they're waiting for Jen to finish his tour.
- 7:52Yes and Jen doesn't finish his tour until August.
- 7:55So I think that's the reason why they said July to September.
- 7:59I think they were saying. So we'll have to wait and see.
- 8:04I do understand Yungis comment though, of it being like, this
- 8:08is going to be something different.
- 8:11And I think it's because like now that everyone had their
- 8:14solos, everyone's going to have their own inputs on like the
- 8:19range that they're comfortable in being in or what type of
- 8:23things they want to challenge themselves into.
- 8:25So like all of that has to be incorporated into this new
- 8:28album. And it's just like RM said in
- 8:31the live, they haven't had an actual full group album since
- 8:352020. So, yeah, by the time they, you
- 8:39know, it's already been five years.
- 8:41And hope we had mentioned that too, you know, they got to get
- 8:43back together and like the groove of being a unit again at
- 8:477, incorporate all the different sounds from their solos into the
- 8:51group, probably find new sounds to keep up like what we were
- 8:55talking about. I think off like recording like
- 8:58with the trends, with the new trends and everything.
- 9:01So, yeah, yeah. Because even you brought that up
- 9:03on how, like, the interest, the industry has changed since, you
- 9:06know, they've been on the military and everything like
- 9:08that. And you know, we can take, for
- 9:10example, with Gin doing, country doing rope it and then Holby
- 9:15doing killing a girl. Like it's completely different
- 9:18than what you would imagine like BTS as a group to do, but it's
- 9:22also a lot of artists is what they're doing.
- 9:25They're testing things out, they're trying different genres
- 9:28that they've wanted to try and challenging themselves, which is
- 9:32great because like that's how growth happened.
- 9:34So now to bring 7 individuals into one group all over again
- 9:40and trying to figure out what everyone is comfortable in
- 9:43challenging or what they want to change or the sound that they
- 9:46want to make together as a group, like, yeah, that's going
- 9:49to be hard. But they'll do it.
- 9:51I believe them. Yeah.
- 9:53And again, they're taking their time, which I'm great because
- 9:56remember, we had all these rumors like they were going to
- 9:58make the album and put it out the end of this year and then go
- 10:01on tour. And it's like, I'm glad from
- 10:03them themselves. They're like, we need time, give
- 10:06us time. And they gave us a set date, so
- 10:09I'm excited and we are here. Part was Nam June singing soda
- 10:15pop at the end of that life? Yes, because it goes into our
- 10:19topic today of hey pop demon hunters that's taken over it's
- 10:26world appropriate pretty much it over the K pop scene.
- 10:30It's taken over the Americans, like people who aren't into K
- 10:34pop. It's all over my like Twitter
- 10:37slash X, whatever you want to call it all over my TikTok.
- 10:40Seeing so much like fan theory, so much merch, so much fan art.
- 10:46I think this is a sleep a sleep hitter.
- 10:48If that's correct, Like this is a movie.
- 10:50I don't think anyone, even the creators expected to like like
- 10:54obviously they wanted it to do well.
- 10:56I don't think they expected it to like take off like this, you
- 10:59know, like explode. I have not seen a media piece,
- 11:03especially a movie, have a quick cult following like this in a
- 11:07very, very long time. I I don't even know when the
- 11:09last movie I've truly seen take off like this.
- 11:14And I'm not counting like sinners from earlier because
- 11:17that also, you know, did take off pretty quickly when it came
- 11:20out. It did, but obviously, like I
- 11:22feel because of the fact that this was released on Netflix and
- 11:27so it it was able to be more accessible to a lot of different
- 11:31people in a lot of other countries because obviously they
- 11:34have this movie in a lot of different languages as well.
- 11:37I think it was easier for it to have like the cult like all of a
- 11:42sudden bring all these people together, you know?
- 11:44So yeah, I don't, I don't think, I really don't know.
- 11:48I don't know. I think the only other one that
- 11:49I can I can kind of see only because like I've seen so many
- 11:53people talk about it a lot was probably Moana.
- 11:58But I don't first one obviously first because even the second
- 12:02one everyone was very excited for.
- 12:04So I feel but to like this gravity, this type of level.
- 12:10That the it's been a long time. Yeah.
- 12:15I want to say like the close, maybe third to get close to that
- 12:18would be Moana, OK? Because I, I, I've seen both of
- 12:21them and I do remember there was mixed reviews on the second one,
- 12:25especially with the music too. I don't know, I feel like
- 12:29there's another one aside from Moana, but I'm trying to think.
- 12:32I can't put anything together. And I feel like all the ones I'm
- 12:34thinking of are like super old like I'm trying to think in
- 12:37recent times. You know what the other one that
- 12:40could potentially be is fucking Avengers.
- 12:42I don't know why that blink. Yes, like old school Avengers,
- 12:47the original Avenger movies. That's like with Tony, like, not
- 12:51Tony Stark with Robert Downey Junior and like, yeah, Scarlet,
- 12:55yes. Johansson Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 12:57yeah, yes. So like I think before and game
- 13:01because I know they've been kind of on a.
- 13:04Downhill, yeah, I want to say like the end game, the end game
- 13:08was like the biggest one and then after that it just kind of
- 13:11fell through. But I mean the off like the
- 13:15actors are, you know, they're everyone's getting older.
- 13:17So I understand why they want to like move on on other projects.
- 13:20So yeah, But yes, like Lala has said, we had our Dear Leader Dom
- 13:27June singing soda pop. And it was funny because like
- 13:29when he started thinking, JK got so excited.
- 13:31He's like you seen it too. I'm not surprised by that.
- 13:36I am not. Surprised.
- 13:38Either he's seen it. I would have actually expected
- 13:40JK to be the one who started singing it.
- 13:42Yes, Jude. Yes, that was literally my
- 13:45thought process. When I saw that happening, I was
- 13:47all like, oh, OK, and I'm June, like hurry, get it, get it.
- 13:52So what you're telling me is your soul also would have been
- 13:54snatched by the Soulja boys? OK, I get it.
- 13:57Listen. Yes, yes, yeah.
- 14:04So clearly Nam, June and JK are right there in that same boat
- 14:09with me, getting our souls snatched by soda pop.
- 14:12Yes, it made such headlines of him singing it that even the
- 14:16official Netflix like Twitter account had changed their bio to
- 14:20BTS, noted Saja Boys 7125 right after that live.
- 14:27As they should. I mean, that's as they should.
- 14:29It's an exciting. It's an exciting moment.
- 14:32I do feel though, that JK is more like with Huntrix.
- 14:37Oh yeah, it's. You know the guy who keeps
- 14:39ripping off his hoodie? No matter, Tim, that is.
- 14:42I think that's JK, actually. Where, like the saja boys are
- 14:46on. He's like, yeah, Saja boys.
- 14:48And then the Huntrix comes on. He rips it off and it says
- 14:50Huntrix. He's like, I love you Huntrix.
- 14:52That is JK. Yeah, totally, completely.
- 14:58Because don't get it confused, he loves his girl groups down.
- 15:00Always has. Yeah, got to give it up for JK.
- 15:08Yes, I need someone to ask them later on who their biases are,
- 15:11but we'll get to that later. So is there anything you want to
- 15:13say about this movie before we deep dive?
- 15:17We haven't done like a review like this in a minute.
- 15:21So just remember guys, what we review like any documentaries or
- 15:25TV shows or movies, we spoil everything before that I will
- 15:29get into like the creation of the movie, people who are
- 15:33involved of it and like the cast and crew.
- 15:35And then after that, when we start doing the actual review is
- 15:39when we spoil it. So we'll let you know if you
- 15:41don't want to know any spoilers, when I let you know when we get
- 15:44into the movie review, you can stop this and actually go watch
- 15:47the movie. Like go support the movie and
- 15:48then come back. If you don't care.
- 15:51You can listen to this, learn about everything, and still go
- 15:54watch the movie. Go and take your own, take in
- 15:57your own what you would take out of it from watching it because I
- 16:00feel like this movie has such good deep meanings and
- 16:08connections in it. No matter what, you will get
- 16:13something out of it. It doesn't matter how old you
- 16:15are honestly. Like I know that this is such an
- 16:18animated movie and so many people are still like, Oh well,
- 16:21it's animated, it's a cartoon, it's for kids and everything.
- 16:24But the meaning behind it, like honestly I think it hits more of
- 16:27the adults. And I miss movies like that.
- 16:30We used to get so many movies like that.
- 16:31Like my all time favorite is Shrek and I feel like,
- 16:36especially as a person who loves animation, actually used to want
- 16:39to work in the animated like industry when I was younger.
- 16:42It's like this is the thing that's missing from yes, it's
- 16:46labeled a kids show or kids movie, but it's enjoyable for
- 16:51everyone. And the parents actually enjoy
- 16:52it too. Can get, you know, like if
- 16:54there's like some dirty jokes, they can understand The Dirty
- 16:56jokes or just like the deeper meaning that the kids may not
- 17:00understand too. Because obviously look who's
- 17:02putting in the money for the merch and things like that.
- 17:05It's the adults. It's the adults.
- 17:07So. You know, the other thing that I
- 17:09just realized because of you saying and bringing up like
- 17:12Shrek and everything. Have you ever seen Littlefoot?
- 17:15The dinosaurs? No.
- 17:17Oh no, I've never seen that. OK, well, this is just showing
- 17:22my age. That's fine.
- 17:23It's fine. Anyways, for anyone that's
- 17:27listening, if you ever remember like Bambi Littlefoot and like
- 17:32it was so it was such good movies, but like you do end up
- 17:36crying because there's certain things that happen.
- 17:38This movie does that. I think now I realize why I I'm
- 17:42so obsessed with this movie. I will say I've lost count how
- 17:45many times I've seen this movie already.
- 17:47I'll say I watched it last night, just before, you know,
- 17:52this morning too. I'm pretty sure I've watched it
- 17:53at least once this week. It's it's that bad.
- 17:55And there's not really anything that I watched that much before.
- 17:59And don't get like bored of watching it repeatedly.
- 18:02Yeah, I think the last time the only other thing that show, I
- 18:06guess I should say show. The only other show that I can
- 18:09go back and it doesn't matter and I can pick up from any
- 18:12season anywhere is Supernatural, Supernatural and Criminal Mind.
- 18:16I used to like Supernatural but then I fell off and I didn't
- 18:19watch the last two seasons I think.
- 18:21But to your point the show only show I do that with also is the
- 18:25anime fairy tale so. Have you ever seen Fruits
- 18:29Basket? I know we're going a little bit
- 18:30off topic, but just because. We're in.
- 18:32It's very fine. Yeah, no, I have not.
- 18:35I am familiar with it, I hear some mixed reviews on that
- 18:39anime, but no. I've never watched it, but I
- 18:41know of it. I can understand the mixed
- 18:43reviews. I could actually understand that
- 18:45because yeah, yeah. But it's good.
- 18:49I enjoyed it if you disregard certain things.
- 18:53That's why there's mixed reviews.
- 18:54So I maybe, maybe I'll take a gander and watch it and see.
- 18:59Yes. Back to K Pop.
- 19:01Yes, Demon Hunters. And this is also going to be
- 19:05shade. You know, maybe if the Disney
- 19:09CEO wasn't so focused of making shows or movies just for kids
- 19:13because he says animation is only enjoyable for kids, maybe
- 19:16your movies would do a little better, Sir, I'm just saying.
- 19:19But also treat your workers better.
- 19:22Yeah. Like, there's a difference
- 19:25between making things just for money and making things that if
- 19:29you're passionate about and it comes through, that makes it
- 19:32more enjoyable for audiences. I'm just saying, you know, maybe
- 19:36you can learn from this even though you already make tons of
- 19:39money, but from nostalgia, there's going to become a point
- 19:42where people get tired of nostalgia.
- 19:44Oh hell yeah. Plus on top of that, it's it's
- 19:46nothing like the original, you know what I mean?
- 19:49It's almost like all the the remakes of like bringing them
- 19:54into live actions because they think, oh, this is what's going
- 19:58to get the adults. Like, no.
- 20:00We can watch animation and get hooked to them.
- 20:02You just need actual authentic stories.
- 20:06Disney while also not actually promoting the movies you do put
- 20:10out with authentic and new stories.
- 20:13Like I know there's one that just came out for Pixar and I
- 20:15heard nothing about it until like the week it was supposed to
- 20:18be released. And the look you're giving me,
- 20:20you probably don't know about it either.
- 20:21The Elios 1. Exactly, exactly.
- 20:25That's what I'm saying. You just proved my point right.
- 20:29There no nothing, girl, nothing came out.
- 20:35Yep. Sonic Animation movies, you're
- 20:38where it's at because the last movie that they basically had
- 20:41done animation was back in 2023 and it was for the Spider Man.
- 20:46And it's one of the favorite ones too.
- 20:47It's the Spider Man across the spider verse.
- 20:52So it's funny you mention that because I was actually going to
- 20:54mention Spider Man when I started talking about movie, but
- 20:58how Bilal wasn't ahead of me. So we will just go ahead.
- 21:01Sorry, yeah, I just. Thought to see.
- 21:03Because like, my thought process was like, wait, when was the
- 21:06last time that's on the animations?
- 21:08Because from what I know of, they make really good animation
- 21:11movies. So I want to they're about.
- 21:12To be ahead of the game so they know what.
- 21:15They're and they take their time.
- 21:17That's the thing too is they take their time to do the
- 21:19creative work of it. So again, like you said, if
- 21:24you're passionate with something, you're always going
- 21:26to kill it. Yes, exactly.
- 21:29So getting into the movie, so K Pop Demon Hunter, as we keep
- 21:34saying is animated movie created by Sony Animation Pictures and
- 21:37it's been distributed through Netflix, which became available
- 21:41for streaming on June 20th, 2025 and it is rated PG, which again
- 21:48y'all PG just means parental guidance.
- 21:51So there's still some things where, you know, it may be more
- 21:54suitable for the older kids or make sure a parent's there.
- 21:59That's what PG means. It doesn't mean it's just for
- 22:01kids. Now, I wrote down to
- 22:03descriptions of the movie just because Netflix's 1 is so vague.
- 22:09And then I like the one on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 22:11It just sounds better. So like, if you don't know
- 22:14anything about this movie like the one Rotten Tomatoes gives
- 22:17you is when they aren't selling out stadiums, K Pop superstars
- 22:20Rumi, Mira and Zoe use their secret identities as bad as
- 22:24demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever present
- 22:27supernatural supernatural threat.
- 22:30Together they must face their biggest enemy yet, an
- 22:33irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise.
- 22:36Isn't that a great description? Without really giving too much
- 22:40away, because then here's Netflix's description.
- 22:44Wobbling up ramen one minute, taking down demons the next.
- 22:49He's K, pop it, girls can do it all.
- 22:51Now it's time to slay and save the world.
- 22:55What does that mean? I'll take the rotten tomato once
- 22:59over the Netflix one. I'm just saying because it comes
- 23:01off really cheesy. Yeah, like the Rotten Tomatoes
- 23:06would actually grab the attention of like adults more
- 23:09than the Netflix one. The Netflix 1 is literally like
- 23:12more gathered towards like children watching it.
- 23:16Yes, it's just funny, but. OK, so Speaking of Rotten
- 23:21Tomatoes on there, the critics have rated this movie a 94%
- 23:26fresh tomatoes and an 89% audience rating.
- 23:31Now, that was when I originally took these notes because we were
- 23:34supposed to record this previously as we talked about at
- 23:36the beginning of this episode. So the update from this morning
- 23:41as we're recording this now, it is at a 96 fresh tomatoes and a
- 23:4690% audience rating. And like even the audience
- 23:50rating, like it has like 10,000 like ratings of people like, you
- 23:55know, commenting or like giving reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 23:59That's a lot. You know what?
- 24:01I need to go be one of them. Put my first rating on a movie
- 24:06on Rotten Tomatoes because I've never done that, so hell yeah.
- 24:09Oh my God. So yes, this movie does have,
- 24:16you know, one of the intricate things about it is the music and
- 24:20the soundtrack, obviously. So the soundtracks original
- 24:24songs were written by now let me say this also, I apologize in
- 24:28advance for any names I may mispronounce.
- 24:31I'm going off reading them. I usually need to hear like,
- 24:34what's the what's the word fanatically?
- 24:37No sonically, what is the word where you have to hear it on how
- 24:40it's pronounced? What is that?
- 24:42Is too early, don't know. OK.
- 24:45I have to hear what it sounds like to get the pronunciation,
- 24:50so I apologize. And that even goes for later on
- 24:53when I say Korean words because if y'all been listening to us
- 24:57for a while, I go on and off on my study trying to pick it back
- 25:00up again. Yes, because BTS is returned.
- 25:02So I apologize for mispronouncing and butchering
- 25:07any Korean words I say. Let's get back to these names.
- 25:10So the soundtrack was written by Danny Chung.
- 25:14Believe this is Ito, Vince Kush. Yes.
- 25:21Kush. EJ, Jenna Andrews, Stephen Kirk.
- 25:26I think this is like, German or something.
- 25:28Lind Lindgren. Lindgren.
- 25:32Lindgren. Yeah, I think so.
- 25:34Mark Sonan, Blick. Blick and Daniel.
- 25:41I don't know if this is Spanish. Is it like Rojas?
- 25:43Yeah. Daniel Rojas.
- 25:45OK. Spanish.
- 25:46Yeah. OK It is also produced by Teddy
- 25:49Park, 24 Ito Doman Shook. I believe that's Korean.
- 25:56Jenna Andrews, Stephen Kirk, Lynn Grin and Ian Eisendrath and
- 26:04one of the songs on there I said lid lead single but I don't
- 26:07think it's technically the lead single in this movie.
- 26:10But one of the songs, Takedown also has a version that is
- 26:13performed by Jung Yong Jiho and Cheong from the group Twice and
- 26:19learning about all the behind the scenes things.
- 26:21I had saw the creator had said when they got Twice on board for
- 26:25this, they actually asked the girls like what song they wanted
- 26:27to cover and they all chose Takedown.
- 26:29So that's why they do their own version of it.
- 26:33And also too, since they brought them on there, they added the
- 26:36group song strategy onto the soundtrack.
- 26:38And strategy was the comeback for Twice before this recent one
- 26:42that came out on July 11th. So the version that's on there
- 26:46is the version with just the group, not the one with Megan
- 26:49the stallion, because there is a version with Megan featuring on
- 26:52the song strategy. Just to let people know if
- 26:55they're not into Twice like that, so and +2, like they
- 26:59actually do incorporate twice a lot in the movie, which I
- 27:02thought was interesting. Like I'm getting ahead of
- 27:05myself. But there is a scene where like
- 27:06they're looking at the charts and it shows the song you see
- 27:09twice on there. Yes, you see twice like the only
- 27:12actual group in real life not made-up.
- 27:16And like there is pictures of them throughout the movie as
- 27:19well. Like it's really cute.
- 27:21So now I'm pretty sure Lala already knows this, but I have a
- 27:26question for you. Do the names Teddy Park 24 and
- 27:29the other one that we couldn't pronounce, Dominic sound
- 27:33familiar? Because they all have something
- 27:35in common. Don't they all like work for
- 27:38Black Label and like are? Correct.
- 27:41Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding. So yes.
- 27:43And Teddy Park is the well, he's the CEO of it now.
- 27:46Oh. Oh oh, OK, that part I didn't
- 27:50know. So obviously he came from like a
- 27:52group back in the day. I don't know if he did any solo
- 27:55work. I'm assuming he did.
- 27:56And then for the longest time he was like one of the main
- 27:58producers on under YG Entertainment.
- 28:02So like he worked with, you know, like 21.
- 28:04That was also one of his big groups.
- 28:05And then like Black Pink and then he ended up taking over for
- 28:08the Black Label, which I still get confused if it's technically
- 28:12a subsidiary under YG Entertainment or if like they
- 28:16bought enough shares to separate from YG.
- 28:19But I think YG still has shares in the Black Label.
- 28:22It's very confusing. But yes, he's basically in
- 28:26charge of Black Label. Wouldn't YG also be kind of like
- 28:29Hive? Like distributes their merch and
- 28:33all that stuff and then the black label just does the music?
- 28:36Or is YG also like a music label?
- 28:39Well, they're a music label hive its own beast, so think of like
- 28:44if YG was under high, but they're still their own music
- 28:47label. Yeah gotcha.
- 28:48OK, I don't know much about the business side, that shit gets
- 28:51confusing for me, but they're their own music label, Yes,
- 28:55although I'll. Have to take a look at that
- 28:57stuff, but yeah, yes, that makes more sense.
- 29:00And there was a station head that some of the creators did do
- 29:04like I think sometime last week. I didn't catch all of it.
- 29:07I did only caught like a few snippets because I was doing
- 29:09things. But they always and they also
- 29:12like emphasize that they wanted a very K pop sounding song to
- 29:16introduce the movie. So like the Black Label at Teddy
- 29:20Park, they were the ones that created the song.
- 29:21How it's done? OK, I have some.
- 29:26Oh, I mean, I can say it out loud.
- 29:28Like, why aren't you guys creating music like this for
- 29:31your own groups? But we'll just keep it at that.
- 29:34Yes, yes. You read it?
- 29:37Yeah. It's when I when I thought that
- 29:39out, I was like Teddy Park because the way he gets
- 29:42criticized so much for a lot of the Black Pink songs he's in
- 29:46charge of and they all sounding the same.
- 29:48But you're able to make something like this.
- 29:51I'll say it, I don't. Care I'm shocked by that because
- 29:54like what do you mean? And even do you mean that you're
- 29:58going to help like? When he used to work for 21,
- 30:03like he there's a lot of songs I didn't realize he worked on.
- 30:06But the difference is they sound so different from each other.
- 30:10Unless you looked at the credits, you wouldn't know.
- 30:12Compared to whatever was happening with Blackpink.
- 30:14It's like every time you heard a song, everyone's so quick to be
- 30:17like, Oh well, there goes Teddy. And that's the crazy part
- 30:20because there's certain songs that he's done like with the
- 30:23girls from BLACKPINK, like separately on like their like
- 30:26solo project that have killed it.
- 30:29So like one of my favorite songs from Bros is on the ground and
- 30:33he was part of the production of it and the lyrics.
- 30:37So it's kind of like, dude, you can do it.
- 30:39How are we not doing this for the group itself for Black
- 30:42Paint? I don't know.
- 30:44I don't know any Well, since he's now part of the Black
- 30:47label, I don't know if he really works with them like that
- 30:50anymore, but he, you know, he has his own groups now like the
- 30:53Meow group, the all day Project, which we're not going to talk
- 30:56about. I.
- 30:56Know that Black Pink just released a song too, so I have
- 30:59to go look at the credits to see if he's in it because they just
- 31:03dropped the song and I don't know if like they're who's on
- 31:09it, like who's the names are all on it.
- 31:11So that'd be interesting to see, which obviously clearly is what
- 31:15you're doing right now. He is.
- 31:22I see Teddy right there. Also Diplo.
- 31:25Did not know Diplo was part of this song.
- 31:28I haven't listened to it, so I'm going to have to take a listen
- 31:32to it after we're done recording.
- 31:33It makes sense now that I see his name, but yeah, even the 24
- 31:37person that I'm 24 is on there. He's on here, Yeah.
- 31:42Damn, they have a lot of people part of the credits for writing
- 31:46the song. But yes, and these songs are
- 31:50clearly being beloved all over. So on July 2nd, it was revealed
- 31:55that the soundtrack for K Pop Demon Hunters debuted at #8 on
- 32:00the Billboard 200 music charts. And I believe that is globally.
- 32:04Yeah, I think the 200 charts, they separated from like US only
- 32:07and globally. So this one was for globally and
- 32:10on the Billboard Hot 100 for the States, Your Idol by the Saja
- 32:14Boys debuted at 77 and Golden was at 81.
- 32:19On July 3rd, Saja Boys reached number one on the US Spotify
- 32:23chart with Your Idol and Golden reached #2 And it's there's a
- 32:27lot of arguments going on right now that we don't have time to
- 32:30talk about. But it's interesting how like
- 32:32they keep referring to them like as an actual K pop group.
- 32:35And there's a lot of emphasis being on like they're the 1st K
- 32:38pop boy and girl group to do this and like surpassing BTS and
- 32:42Black Pink, which is like, I get it.
- 32:44But like they're also not like a real group just because this is
- 32:47for a movie. I feel like that's kind of
- 32:49taking away from like the actual singers playing these
- 32:52characters, like their credits. And you're only crediting like,
- 32:56you know, Huntrix or Saja Boys. Does that make sense?
- 33:00Yeah, I mean, I get it, but as as I also see it as they're
- 33:04picking fun at the fact that it had to be a movie setting
- 33:08soundtrack that beats quotation marks, beats BTS on their number
- 33:15one spot compared to being like all the other K pop groups that
- 33:18we have. That's messy because no, no
- 33:22other it is. It is, but that's literally what
- 33:26they're going at. That's literally what they're
- 33:28going at though. At least that's the way that I
- 33:30take it, that they're just poking fun at all the other
- 33:33groups. Like how is it that an animation
- 33:35movie, you know an animation fake K pop groups are the ones
- 33:41to surpass BTS but the rest of you guys can't type of thing.
- 33:46Yeah, I have nothing to comment on that because I feel like no
- 33:48matter what I say, that comes off very shady.
- 33:50But yes. So would you look it up because
- 33:52I know it the stands, they're always fighting, but they've
- 33:55definitely been fighting for this.
- 33:57So I've just been watching it all.
- 33:58I have. No, this is one of the things
- 34:00where I'm just like, I have no opinion on this.
- 34:03Yeah, as I also just continue with the streams.
- 34:06Like I'm. Obviously contributing.
- 34:08Exactly, which is why I said like obviously in Discord
- 34:12yesterday, I ended up saying like, it's funny how this movie
- 34:16will be the introduction for a lot of people into K Pop because
- 34:19again, you know, this was distributed through Netflix,
- 34:23which honestly, Sonic animations, man, you did it
- 34:26'cause like that was a smart move.
- 34:28One, is it Sonic, Sony, Sony, Sony.
- 34:33It sounds like you're saying Sonic.
- 34:34That's why I. Did say Sonic?
- 34:36I think I do accidentally say Sonic for some reason.
- 34:39Anyways, did I do Sonic? The hedgehog now that you said
- 34:42the word Sonic. They did.
- 34:45I think they did. I don't know.
- 34:47Because that one is like animation meets, you know, like
- 34:52real life. One of those type of movies.
- 34:56No, that's done by Paramount. Paramount.
- 34:58OK, anyway. They did a very smart move
- 35:02though by distributing this on Netflix because it did get
- 35:07access to everyone. So like now everyone's like
- 35:09listening to the music and it's like people that don't even
- 35:12listen to K pop are also listening to the soundtrack.
- 35:16Right I've I've sold that these songs using so many TikTok edits
- 35:20now, not even K pop ones like I've seen it's like were used
- 35:24for Avengers this morning for like anime like jiu jitsu
- 35:28Kaizen. What else was the big one I saw
- 35:31for the spider verse? Like yeah.
- 35:35It's being used everywhere and even like the day-to-day, some
- 35:38people just like jamming it while they're doing their
- 35:41day-to-day like stuff. So it's like a lot of people are
- 35:45listening to it, which is the reason why they're charting the
- 35:48way they're charting. Yes, because an update from that
- 35:52that I also looked up this morning.
- 35:54So like this week of charting bolded has hit #1 on Spotify's
- 35:59Daily Top Songs Global chart on this past Thursday and your idol
- 36:04is at #2 on the US Spotify chart.
- 36:08So we've we save, we save the Han Moon guys, we did it. 100 X
- 36:14is above the Saja boys. Han Moon is safe for now and
- 36:19then on Billboard hot 1 hundreds.
- 36:21Golden is at 23, your idol is at 31, how it's done is at 42, Soda
- 36:28pop is at 48, what it sounds like is at 55, Free is at 58,
- 36:34and Takedown is at 60. 4 I'm just actually surprised that
- 36:38almost almost every song on that soundtrack is in the 100.
- 36:43I mean, it pretty much is, except for like the three songs
- 36:45that are used for like I don't see background music, but.
- 36:48I know, but that it's technically what it is.
- 36:51Yeah, so besides those 3 songs, it pretty much is all the
- 36:55soundtrack. Yeah, crazy, crazy.
- 37:00OK, so let us get into the creators behind this film,
- 37:06starting with our main creator who came up with this idea for
- 37:10the story about 7 years ago. I believe she said almost a
- 37:14decade, but I know I think I saw her say seven years ago, Maggie.
- 37:19Now I think it depends how you pronounce it.
- 37:22And I know she's she's a Korean American or she's Korean
- 37:25Canadian. She's one of those two Korean
- 37:27Canadian. It's either Matt, is it
- 37:29Canadian? OK so I'm not sure if she
- 37:33pronounces Maggie Kang, which I've heard in the interviews, or
- 37:38if it's like Maggie Kong which is how you actually pronounce it
- 37:42in Korean. So either 1.
- 37:45I don't know. I'm sure with her growing up she
- 37:49is used to the way like people in the West pronounce it so.
- 37:54But anyway, she wanted to make a film set in Korean culture, so
- 37:59she delved into the mythology and demonology for something
- 38:02that could be visually unique and compared to other mainstream
- 38:05media. She also calls this film her
- 38:08love letter to K Pop and her Korean brutes.
- 38:11I also do want to point out, because I don't think I've
- 38:13written this down, she has said multiple times the K Pop is
- 38:17actually the last element that they put into this movie.
- 38:19The whole point really was to just like find a way to like
- 38:23show off Korean culture as well as like uplift women through
- 38:26Korean culture and in some way of just like, you know, like
- 38:29making them badass, but also, you know, like women that are
- 38:31relatable in like real life and things like that.
- 38:33And then I guess, and you know, in the modern day, a good way to
- 38:36like tie that in together is through K pop.
- 38:38So the main thing wasn't K pop initially, but that was just
- 38:42added last to like make everything come come together.
- 38:46Her influence was actually from the famous Korean director Bong
- 38:51Joon Hold, which I'm sure many people, especially in the West,
- 38:56are familiar with. His work Paradise, that came out
- 38:58in 2019. That's the one at least we are
- 39:01the most familiar with. But he's been a director
- 39:02forever, so he's done a lot of, he's also done a lot of Western
- 39:05movies too, like I know that one with Chris, one of the Chris's.
- 39:09Which Chris is it? Chris Evans, that movie
- 39:11Snowpiercer. I don't know if you know about
- 39:13that movie or not. Yeah.
- 39:14So he directed that as well. OK.
- 39:18She was inspired by how he juggles so many different tones
- 39:21in his film so that they felt very animated.
- 39:23And then for the animation style, Kong and Chris Applehans,
- 39:28which we'll talk about in a second.
- 39:30We're also inspired by Sony's Spider Verse films, which
- 39:33featured a hybrid of 2D and 3D styles.
- 39:36Like how you brought that up earlier, Lala.
- 39:38The way for them to animate this film was inspired by the spider
- 39:41verse, and then they decided to pull away from the typical 2D
- 39:44elements and go for a style with the aim of ACG version of anime.
- 39:48And then for the character design, Kong wanted to get away
- 39:52from the stereotypical Marvel female superheroes that were
- 39:55just sexy and cool and badass. She wanted to have like girls
- 39:59who were fun, you know, had pot bellies even though they didn't
- 40:02have pot bellies. But it's fine.
- 40:04Burp the recrass silly and fun. She also explained.
- 40:09When it came to the history of Demon Hunters, they decided to
- 40:12play into the shaman women from Korean culture as historically
- 40:15these women would sing and dance to protect their village and
- 40:18their communities. Hold on to that because I'm
- 40:21going to talk about that a lot towards the end of this.
- 40:24And I do want to bring this up because this was also,
- 40:26especially at the K Pop community, especially when
- 40:28people were really getting into it, huge debates on.
- 40:32And I just need to say this to clear all this up.
- 40:35So on her actual Twitter and X page, because I started
- 40:39following her, she had quoted a tweet from one of those, you
- 40:43know, like news pages or whatever.
- 40:45And they had said like, I think they had specifically said like
- 40:49specifically Jenny from Blackpink was the inspiration of
- 40:53Rumi. And of course, from her quote
- 40:55tweet, tweet fans got upset. However, Rumi's not the only one
- 40:59where people are like oh this character was based on this
- 41:03specific idol and then like there's people saying like Cha
- 41:06Unu was the inspiration for Jinu.
- 41:10So this is a direct quote from her where she says Rumi was
- 41:15inspired by many leading ladies. Some not even K pop names are
- 41:19going around individual idols and groups because we only said
- 41:23yes as they were mentioned by the interviewers to us.
- 41:26But a list of inspo for both Huntrix and Saja boys is
- 41:30endless. And then this has been clarified
- 41:32by us to press and also since we're recording this later to
- 41:37back it up. I'm not sure if you know of the
- 41:40solo artists who used to be called Alexa.
- 41:44I know she's going through a lot of things with her label and I
- 41:47don't know if she goes by that name anymore.
- 41:48I think her real name is Alex. But anyway, just like how Kehoe
- 41:52from P1 Harmony had revealed in a live that like he actually did
- 41:56audition for this movie, so did she.
- 42:00And it was to the point where she was like actually getting
- 42:03like callbacks and stuff. I don't know if she auditioned
- 42:05to sing or actually be the voice actress, but she had even said
- 42:10in the live I saw a clip of where when she went to a
- 42:13boarding room to like meet the creators, they had like on their
- 42:17storyboard like a bunch of K pop, you know, idols and like
- 42:21styles. They may have wore war and eras
- 42:23and like her pictures were up there from her era because she
- 42:26used to do like this. I don't know what you would
- 42:29consider it like sci-fi theme and her music when she first
- 42:33came out like futuristic and like how she I think she was
- 42:36technically supposed to be like a robot warrior or something
- 42:39like that. I don't remember fully, but yes.
- 42:42So just to let everybody know, the inspiration can be many,
- 42:47many idols that they're pulled from.
- 42:49So whoever you think you see in them, that's all to you.
- 42:52But there's no one specific idol that any of these characters are
- 42:57based off of. And I really want to clarify
- 42:59this too. For a lot of people that are
- 43:01watching this movie, like you take what you can from this
- 43:05movie, you interpret it the way that it sits with you and that's
- 43:10including the characters. Like if you see certain idols or
- 43:14certain actors or actresses, however, in this movie, then
- 43:19that's how that's your interpretation.
- 43:20And you have the right for that interpretation.
- 43:23But it doesn't mean that you need to go online and say, no,
- 43:25this is what this character was based.
- 43:27No, it wasn't. And we got the clarification
- 43:30from the maker itself. Like respect that please.
- 43:34So, and it's all supposed to be fun.
- 43:36This is all supposed to be fun in games of being like, oh, they
- 43:39remind me of this idol. Like, let's go back to having
- 43:42fun, guys. Don't make it so serious.
- 43:44Yeah, like if you're just having fun with it and it's reminding
- 43:48you of an idol and obviously there's like a specific, like
- 43:52there's two specific scenes where I get reminded of an idol
- 43:55of mine with one of the characters.
- 43:57Like I do it as just for fun where it's all like, oh, and
- 44:01like I it just makes me remember of an idol, but then that's it.
- 44:05Like the movie continues on and I take from the movie, you know,
- 44:09like I'm not going to be like, oh, this is exactly this, this
- 44:12person. Like no, it's an animation ship
- 44:15for crying out loud. Just enjoy it.
- 44:17Exactly, exactly. All right.
- 44:20So the directors of the movie is Maggie Kong herself and Chris
- 44:24Applehans. I believe I'm saying that
- 44:26correctly from what I've heard. And he had also worked
- 44:29previously on 20/20 animated 2021 animated film called The
- 44:35Wish Dragon, which is also on Netflix.
- 44:37I actually watched it. It's pretty cute.
- 44:39So if you have time to watch it, I would also highly recommend
- 44:43that. Because when he finished doing
- 44:45that, he was actually apparently supposed to like go on a break
- 44:48until Maggie contacted her or contacted him.
- 44:51Excuse me to see if he wanted to work on K Pop Demon Hunters.
- 44:56And he was immediately like, yes, because, you know, he's
- 44:58interested. He seems like because I believe
- 45:00he's white. He seems like a guy who's
- 45:02interested in like, you know, Asian cultures and things of
- 45:05that nature. And he said like, he's really
- 45:08also into K Pop. So he was like an immediate yes.
- 45:11And it'd be a good challenge for him.
- 45:13And then the screenplay writers is Maggie Kong, Chris Applehans,
- 45:19Danya Menes and Hannah Make Mechon make con.
- 45:27Yeah, you, yeah, you're on your own on that one.
- 45:29OK, I apologize. Listen all all all of my
- 45:35references and notes, all the links are in the description box
- 45:39so y'all can see what they're spelled.
- 45:41OK, I'm trying my best. All right, so let us get into
- 45:45the cast, starting with the leading ladies of Huntrig.
- 45:48So first we have our lead vocalist and leader of
- 45:52Huntrig's, Rumi, and her sword in the movie is a Cyan Gom
- 45:58sword, which I'll talk about in a minute.
- 46:01She's voiced by Art and Cho, and the singing voice for Brumi is
- 46:06EJ. So her weapon, a Cyan Gom sword
- 46:11is the 4 Tigers Sword, a ritual blade used during the Jones
- 46:15dynasty. 4 cardinal directions are guided by 4 Mystic tigers
- 46:20and the sword symbolizes their protective strength.
- 46:23And the sword was not just used as like a battle prop, but it
- 46:26also has spiritual significance and was used in shamanic rituals
- 46:30to ward off evil. So we have art and Cho who is an
- 46:34actress. She's been in the game for a
- 46:36while. If you're like my age and
- 46:39generation, we best we know her best from Kira from Teen Wolf,
- 46:43Justin justice for Kira. OK, I am so happy every time I
- 46:47see art and Cho thrive because they did her so dirty and I'm a
- 46:51say it love seeing her. I love me some art and Cho OK,
- 46:56And I was also surprised aside from Teen Wolf that you didn't
- 47:00recognize her because she also plays June in the recent live
- 47:03action remake of Avatar the last airbender.
- 47:06That's her. You actually like it.
- 47:08I don't which we've. Done.
- 47:10No, No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 47:13I don't mind it. I prefer the animation Chris
- 47:17does. The one that likes the live
- 47:19shit. What I got.
- 47:21Don't you? Don't you?
- 47:22I'm sorry, Nick. Girl memory was.
- 47:27Misconstrued. Misconstrued.
- 47:28OK, I apologize, but yes, I'm correct.
- 47:33And the live action remake she plays Jude, which is, you know,
- 47:36the hunter how they find Ang and all them they changed it in the
- 47:40live action. But yeah.
- 47:42And then we have EJ, who real name is Kim UN Jay.
- 47:47So she is South Korean and she's a South Korean American
- 47:51singer-songwriter and record producer.
- 47:54She was born in Korea though and then like was going back and
- 47:57forth from like the states to Korea for her education.
- 48:00Fun fact, she actually trained at SM Entertainment for 10 years
- 48:04and was supposed to debut in a group but the debut actually
- 48:08failed with the group and I guess as a solo artist too.
- 48:13And unfortunately they this is what I'm getting for my
- 48:17research. So allegedly they had considered
- 48:21her too old to debut. Now I've complained about the
- 48:26ages and K pop for a while. I want to know what they
- 48:30consider too old because she's currently only 33 years old.
- 48:34So how old was she back then to where they considered her too
- 48:38old to debut? It's my question because I was
- 48:41seeing people say if she did debut in a group, it would have
- 48:45been in a group Like she would have been the seniors for Girls'
- 48:48Generation. And I know they were all around
- 48:50like 1617 I think at the time they debuted.
- 48:53So how how old was she when they considered her too old?
- 48:57SM my many problems with you already.
- 49:00But anyway, this letter moving to the US full time.
- 49:04And thankfully that didn't stop her from being in the music
- 49:08industry in general. So she has tons of credits in
- 49:11writing, producing, and also providing backup vocals.
- 49:14So there's some K pop songs where like if you pay attention
- 49:18to the backup vocals, it is actually her singing.
- 49:20And some songs listed were Red Velvet Cycle, which is like the
- 49:24biggest one because it was a very popular song when it came
- 49:26out in 2019, and a song Birthday, Twice as Last Waltz,
- 49:31Aspa Drama and Armageddon and Mixes Debut 00 and their song
- 49:36Dice and Cards Breakdown and Icky just to name a few.
- 49:41There's a full list on Wikipedia.
- 49:43I also like how they broke it down to where like they
- 49:45highlighted which songs like she just produced and wrote for
- 49:49which ones she actually provided her vocals on.
- 49:52Going Wikipedia for that, but I'm happy for her.
- 49:55OK, she's finally getting her shine.
- 49:57OK, so now we're moving on to Mira, who is the visual and main
- 50:02dancer of Huntriggs, and her weapon is a Oldo.
- 50:07I should have found the Korean writing for this because I know
- 50:10I'm mispronouncing it. However, she is voiced by Mei
- 50:13Hong and her singing voice is by Audrey.
- 50:16Nuna Waldo literally means Moonblade, a Korean pole arm
- 50:21that closely resembles the Chinese.
- 50:24I know I'm going to mispronounce this Guando, but it's
- 50:28proportionally smaller. It was also typically used by
- 50:32the medieval Celia Warriors class.
- 50:35The Wadong. The Wadong, now Lala.
- 50:38Does the name Wadong sound familiar to you As an army?
- 50:45That should be the big hit as an army.
- 50:47No, no. So they were real work warriors
- 50:52back then, but they made a drama out of it there.
- 50:55I think they were considered like the pretty boy warriors, if
- 50:58I remember incorrectly. And I mentioned ARMY because
- 51:01that's the drama that Tay was in with other idols.
- 51:04And that's how he, you know, OK, found the Wuga squad.
- 51:07Yeah. OK, OK.
- 51:09Yeah. See my my whole drama going
- 51:11somewhere else but OK, OK. There's a whole drama on that if
- 51:14y'all want to know more about that.
- 51:16So the actress and voice may honk.
- 51:19Her most recent projects before Demon Hunters was a TV show
- 51:23called Phantasmus and Full Circle.
- 51:27Now when I looked on IMDb I always mispronounced that.
- 51:31I think those are all the letters.
- 51:32There are small roles so. But those are things she's
- 51:35credited for. And then Audrey Nuna, who is a
- 51:38musician, which I've heard of her before.
- 51:41And I believe it was actually John Cook when he used to have
- 51:44an Instagram that he had shared her most popular song at that
- 51:48time. Damn right.
- 51:49Because I know like obviously Nam June shares a lot of music,
- 51:52but I I do believe it was actually John Cook.
- 51:55He either shared it on when he used to have an Instagram or he
- 51:58mentioned it in a live. My memory is a playing it was
- 52:02Instagram. Instagram because there was a
- 52:04point in time where he was sharing some of his music
- 52:07because I discovered a couple artists through him as well.
- 52:11So OK. And so that was when he used to
- 52:14have an Instagram, which by the way, JK, can you like make a new
- 52:18Instagram? Anyways, keep going.
- 52:21OK, I won't comment on that. So her last Apple came out in
- 52:262024 called Trench, which I did listen to recommend.
- 52:30I think you would like it Lala. There's a lot of songs with The
- 52:34songs are very short, just to let you know.
- 52:36I don't like, can I just say that?
- 52:38I don't like how that's happening to certain, how
- 52:42certain artists are deciding to make shorter music.
- 52:44Like can we not? I know.
- 52:47I think that's the reason also why I've been kind of sticking
- 52:50with 17 because even like their newest album that they released,
- 52:56it's still like almost close to 3 minutes long songs.
- 53:01So I'm grateful for that. Don't change that please.
- 53:04And this is also for like our BTS people and you know, our
- 53:10beat test group. Please don't shorten your music.
- 53:13I hope not. I really hope not all right, but
- 53:17last and. Certainly not least we have Zoe,
- 53:21who is the main rapper in Magne of Huntrig's.
- 53:26She is Korean American from Burbank and Wheels Throwing
- 53:30Knives or Shin Kao, voiced by Jiang Yu.
- 53:34And the singing voice is Ray AMI.
- 53:38And can I mention I'm just going to mention it now.
- 53:40It's funny because when I was watching this, like they say in
- 53:43the movie, she's the mockney of the group.
- 53:44And I'm like, do the American audience know what a mockney is?
- 53:48Because they don't explain it in the movie.
- 53:50They're just like she's the mockney of the group.
- 53:53Time to look it up again. It it's a really smart way of
- 53:57like having people look into the culture and whether it's the
- 54:01culture, whether it's in K pop. Because if you're getting
- 54:04introduced to K pop, you very quickly Start learning that you
- 54:07have the hyungs and then you have the magnet lines.
- 54:10You know what I mean? So you Start learning a lot of
- 54:12things. So no, it shouldn't be given to
- 54:15you. Because it was funny too.
- 54:17I actually, I came across a tweet when they were like saying
- 54:21like we don't actually know these characters last name.
- 54:23And like people were saying Rumi's last name is Nim from
- 54:26when she went to the doctor's office.
- 54:28And like, I'm glad people were in their comments like
- 54:31correcting them. They're like Nim isn't
- 54:33honorific. That's not actually her last
- 54:35name. So it's just you know, little
- 54:37things like that's where I didn't even know when I first
- 54:39got into K Pop that I end up learning later on.
- 54:41So it's just like a way of highly polite way of like
- 54:45referring to her as like, you know, either Mr. or Misses so.
- 54:48Yeah, again, we all had to learn one way or another getting into
- 54:53the world of K pop. OK, so everybody else has to
- 54:55too. So not saying that it needs to
- 54:58be difficult for them to learn, but if you want to do the
- 55:00research, you can do the research.
- 55:03That's all. Also, Zoe's my favorite.
- 55:07Zoe's very cute. Zoe's actually the one where if
- 55:10Alexa did get this part, I can see her playing her in some way.
- 55:13I was actually envisioning her as Zoe.
- 55:16So back to Zoe's weapon. The Shin Kao or Spirit knife is
- 55:23used in a good to fight evil spirits.
- 55:27I will come back once again to good later on in the film.
- 55:32It's a summonable dagger, echoing the real life ritual
- 55:36where shamans cast a knife towards evil, then reclaim it to
- 55:39restore spiritual balance. The actress Yong Yu most recent
- 55:44projects before the film were Until Dawn and ATV miniseries
- 55:48called Expat. And then Ray AMI is a musician
- 55:53under the indie pop category. Her latest EP is called Shush
- 55:57that came out in 2023 and I actually shared one of her songs
- 56:02on our new thing we're trying on social media, the Music Monday
- 56:05thing. So I like her EP Hopefully this
- 56:08gives her enough like attention to make more music.
- 56:11I actually really enjoy her music.
- 56:13It's like a grungier pop version if you like someone like BB.
- 56:17So if people know who BB is just a more like grungier version of
- 56:22pop. I think this will be a really
- 56:24good thing for not only the the actors, the voice actors, but
- 56:30also for like the musicians that are in here.
- 56:33I guess we'll help them out. So I agree and then each member
- 56:39are wearing a traditional Korean pendant on their clothes called
- 56:43a naughty gay which is usually worn by Korean woman on their
- 56:46humbug to represent good luck, prosperity and or protection
- 56:50depending on the pendants design.
- 56:53All righty so let's get on to the demon boys our Saja boys.
- 56:58So Saja boy's name actually comes from the Korean word Jong
- 57:02Sung Saja which are Koreans versions of the Grim Reaper also
- 57:07known as messenger of death or death angels.
- 57:11They escort souls both good and bad, from the physical world to
- 57:14the netherworld, enforce the law, and maintain order for the
- 57:20deceased. Unlike the single Grim Reaper
- 57:23and Western lore, the Jong Sung Saja are class of a spectacle
- 57:28bureaucrats responsible for this task.
- 57:31They embody cultural beliefs about death and the transition
- 57:34to the afterlife. They are traditionally depicted
- 57:38as imposing figures dressed entirely in black, adored in
- 57:41Hunbook with a wide brimmed Black Hat known as a got to add
- 57:47their authoritative presence. The Jung Sung Saja is also
- 57:53commonly depicted as a male figure with pale complexion and
- 57:57sunken eyes. And saja also means lion, so
- 58:01that's why their representative animal in the show is a lion,
- 58:05which is on their light stick, and why their fandom is called
- 58:07the Pride. And did it take me like maybe
- 58:10two or three more watches to realize that?
- 58:13Yeah. Cuz I kept wondering like, why
- 58:15are they called the pride? Like why do they keep saying
- 58:17join the pride? And what does like a lion have
- 58:20to do with them being grim reapers?
- 58:22But yeah, it was supposed to be a play on play on word for those
- 58:25two meetings. Yeah, I meant to move this up.
- 58:28So she is not part of the Saja boys, but I have Celine here in
- 58:33here as well. I should have put her with
- 58:35talking about the girls, but it's fine.
- 58:37So I guess she's considered Rumi's foster with her.
- 58:41Like I don't know if she officially adopted her, but she
- 58:43raised her and she's a former Demon Hunter and K pop star with
- 58:47Rumi's mother for the group Sunlight Sisters and she's
- 58:50voiced by Eugene Kim just to mention her because she's also
- 58:53plays a role. But back to the actual Saja
- 58:55boys. We have our leader and
- 58:58everyone's favorite who's been hard eyes all over my timeline
- 59:03is Jinu. He's also a demon with the past
- 59:06that haunts him. He has befriended a demon tiger
- 59:09and a magpie who normally follows him around and acts as a
- 59:13messenger for him. And his voice actor is Audio
- 59:16Soap and his singing voice is Andrew.
- 59:22Either Choi or Che because I've heard it pronounced Che as well.
- 59:27Daniel Soap is a Korean actor whose latest projects were a
- 59:31time called You and Business Proposal, which I didn't know he
- 59:34was in Business Proposal when I first saw that.
- 59:37I'm like, wait, who did he play? And then when I saw he was the
- 59:40lead. I was like, yes, that's.
- 59:42Why I liked you so much? Yes, yes, yes.
- 59:46Oh my God, when I found out that he was the voice, I was like,
- 59:49OK, now I get it because I love business proposal.
- 59:54That is my absolute favorite drama and it's just, yeah, I
- 59:59can. That's another one that I can
- 1:00:01watch at any point. And it's funny because I came
- 1:00:04across an interview that I sent you last night, Maggie talking.
- 1:00:08I think she said the same thing. She said she was watching
- 1:00:10Business Proposal and saw him and she was like, oh that has to
- 1:00:13be or she. Got the inspiration so she was
- 1:00:17very happy that he accepted to like or that he that he.
- 1:00:23What's the word that I'm looking for decided that he wanted to be
- 1:00:26a part of it and actually like and accepted the role kind of
- 1:00:31slinking out it's it's. Fine, it's it's early for us.
- 1:00:34It's OK because I also led me to find out he's Korean Canadian as
- 1:00:40well. I guess he moved to Canada when
- 1:00:41he was younger, then moved back to Korea around like 17 or so
- 1:00:45because fun fact again, allegedly.
- 1:00:47I'm going off what I found there.
- 1:00:50Apparently he was supposed to be.
- 1:00:53He has trained to be AK Pop Idol as well is what I found out and
- 1:00:58allegedly didn't debut on the account of being too tall
- 1:01:02allegedly. That's what I said.
- 1:01:04He's 63 apparently because guess what group he would have been in
- 1:01:08that I was seeing online? What group got 7?
- 1:01:13He was one of the contestants apparently.
- 1:01:15Again, I I need to do more research to make sure this is
- 1:01:19true, but apparently. That's what I.
- 1:01:21Said. Over like.
- 1:01:23Why does that? Matter.
- 1:01:24I'm like isn't Yugi up like 6 + 6 one and so is Bam Bale.
- 1:01:29Yeah, I was going to say like, what do you mean?
- 1:01:32I don't know, yeah. Have we not seen how tall some
- 1:01:36of these fucking younger ones are?
- 1:01:38Anyways, you know what it's. Stupid is like from TXT to I'm
- 1:01:43like why? Nikki Tall and hyphen.
- 1:01:48He's the tallest one and he's the youngest one.
- 1:01:50He's only what, 2120212020 and he's like 6263.
- 1:02:00But I know, is it Nikki Japanese though, right?
- 1:02:03He's not Korean. Is he OK?
- 1:02:05No, But still, it's just funny because I do remember, yeah, I
- 1:02:08remember coming off like Tik toks of like, you know, Korean
- 1:02:10Americans. I followed even they were saying
- 1:02:13like how this newer generation for some reason Koreans are
- 1:02:15getting like taller. OK I'm corrected.
- 1:02:18Nikki is 6 foot still. He's still in the six foot like
- 1:02:23range though. Exactly.
- 1:02:25Like what is the difference between how tall is he what 63?
- 1:02:30How tall is like I don't understand why, why?
- 1:02:35Why does that matter? Or was it because you were so
- 1:02:37tall at a young age? Anyways, whatever.
- 1:02:39This is a different era, OK? Remember, if he debuted, he
- 1:02:43would have debuted around like 2000 because Goth 7 debuted in
- 1:02:462014. So times have changed in that
- 1:02:51aspect. Thankfully.
- 1:02:54You know what? We've been doing a lot of
- 1:02:58research during this. Hang on, he's 30/19/95.
- 1:03:06He was. He's 6/2.
- 1:03:08I guess it depends on how how tall he was when he was young.
- 1:03:12Maybe that's why. I don't, I don't know.
- 1:03:15Because you have to remember to, and I hate that this is going to
- 1:03:19come out of my mouth right now, but the boyish looks is what
- 1:03:26every record label was looking for when it came to debuting.
- 1:03:31So obviously, like if you're super tall at a young age, like,
- 1:03:34OK, I, I see where they're coming from.
- 1:03:37I don't agree with it, but whatever.
- 1:03:40Anyways. Like I said, Lala, this is about
- 1:03:44like 10 plus years ago. So anyway, he found a career in
- 1:03:50acting. That's all that matters.
- 1:03:53Drew. Yes Boy.
- 1:03:54Andrew. Andrew Che, which I guess is his
- 1:03:59American name because I also came across the name Che Soong
- 1:04:03Kyun. So he's a Korean singer and
- 1:04:06composer signed under SM and he's a soloist.
- 1:04:09So like his first and really only album came Outback in 2013
- 1:04:13called Love Was Enough. But he has songwriting credits
- 1:04:17on songs like NCTS, Whiplash, Tamens, Guess Who, and Monsta X
- 1:04:21Disaster. And I know there was other songs
- 1:04:24too, but those are just the ones I wrote down.
- 1:04:26And then also his companions Tiger and the Magpie, which the
- 1:04:32Tiger's name is Derpy and I don't know how to pronounce the
- 1:04:36is it's sussy. I think they were saying sussy.
- 1:04:40That's how you pronounce the bird's name.
- 1:04:42I think that's how he was pronounced.
- 1:04:43I think that's how it was being pronounced in the movie too.
- 1:04:46OK, I just wanted to make sure. But they're both based off of
- 1:04:51minwa, which is the style of Korean folk art like popular
- 1:04:55during the Jones dynasty with the hojachto genres specializing
- 1:05:01in images of tigers, Magpies, and pine trees.
- 1:05:04And I know again, I've linked everything, but I believe that
- 1:05:07era was special because it was the first time like regular
- 1:05:11common folks was able to get into like the arts and not just
- 1:05:16like higher Lords. It's it's more political than I
- 1:05:19really realized it was. So again, I have a bunch of
- 1:05:22links y'all can look into if you're really interested.
- 1:05:24But and there's a famous like picture you'll see in one of the
- 1:05:28links that like you can tell looks like derpy and sussy.
- 1:05:32So derpies bright blue hue also was like to give him a more
- 1:05:37magical feel. And so he didn't come off as a
- 1:05:40sidekick. That's why they gave him the
- 1:05:42role of like being sort of like a mailbox between the two
- 1:05:45characters to communicate and the bird just follows him
- 1:05:48around. All right.
- 1:05:49And then the rest of the members we have romance Saja, who was
- 1:05:53voiced by Joel Kim Booster and and sung by Samuel Lee.
- 1:06:00Mystery Saja was voiced by Alan Lee and sung by Kevin Wu, who we
- 1:06:06also have someone who used to be in the K pop industry.
- 1:06:09He used to be in a boy group called You Kiss ABS or Abby's
- 1:06:13Voice by Songun Cho. And the singing voice is neck
- 1:06:18wave baby Saja, because I didn't realize he don't talk at all.
- 1:06:22But his, you know, singing slash rapping voice is by Danny, I
- 1:06:27think. Spell check.
- 1:06:28I believe it's Chong Chong. Yeah, yes.
- 1:06:33And Bobby was voiced by Bobby is not part of the Saja boys after
- 1:06:38baby Saja, that's all the Saja boys.
- 1:06:40Bobby, who was the manager of the Huntrix, is voiced by Ken
- 1:06:45Jeong. Yes, it's very, very famous.
- 1:06:47When you actually see him, he's been in a lot of things, feel
- 1:06:51like most famously maybe the Hungo, The Hangover.
- 1:06:54Yes, The Hangover and then obviously the biggest like I
- 1:06:58don't want to call it reality show, but like music competition
- 1:07:02would be mask singer. I think that's what it's.
- 1:07:05Also derived from the Korean reality show Mask Singer where
- 1:07:10they got it from. So yes.
- 1:07:13And I know that one TV show I think it's called like Community
- 1:07:16or something like that. He's been in a lot of things.
- 1:07:19He he and he'll also disappear in movies and stuff, so I'm sure
- 1:07:22y'all have seen him. Yes, yeah, yes.
- 1:07:25He comes in also whenever. He wants, yeah, pretty much.
- 1:07:28But he makes so much money, so it's fine.
- 1:07:30Yeah. And then last but certainly not
- 1:07:33least, we have our main villain, who is Guimao, the demon King.
- 1:07:38The big fire corrupts humanity. He's voiced by a Byong Kyun, who
- 1:07:43is a well known Korean actor. Currently right now, he's
- 1:07:47featured in Squid Games as the front man listed Mr. Sunshine
- 1:07:51and many more Korean and American films.
- 1:07:54Because I believe I saw credits of some Marvel films as well
- 1:07:57that he was in that I didn't realize.
- 1:07:59But then, fun fact too, he also voices Guima in the Korean
- 1:08:01version of this movie. Nice.
- 1:08:04Okay, yeah, so he does both, all right, y'all.
- 1:08:07So that is basically like I was gonna say history.
- 1:08:11Reduction to the characters and basically the background of the
- 1:08:15creation of the movie. Thank you, Lala.
- 1:08:19So this is when we're going to actually get into the movie
- 1:08:22movie. So if again, if you have not
- 1:08:24seen it, turn us off now. Go watch this movie and then
- 1:08:28come back or if you just want to listen to us and listen to our
- 1:08:33opinions and plot points, you can.
- 1:08:36But also go still watch this movie.
- 1:08:38Such a. Good movie so please do watch it
- 1:08:41you will enjoy it. I mean, honestly, yeah, it's
- 1:08:45just your basic people that just hate everything when they're
- 1:08:47talking about like, oh, this is just cheesy because it's for
- 1:08:49kids, the music sucks. And then like they're saying
- 1:08:52like it's a bad representation of like K pop blah blah blah.
- 1:08:55And my only opinion is it's just those people that just hate fun.
- 1:09:00Yeah, pretty much. But at the same time, like some
- 1:09:02people might be hesitant because I think you said you were
- 1:09:04hesitant to watch it. Yes, and that's just because,
- 1:09:07you know, especially in the West.
- 1:09:09And how has K pop gotten so popular?
- 1:09:11Anything labeled K Pop as AK pop listener in the West where it's
- 1:09:15still people know about it, but it's still stigmatized and we're
- 1:09:19not going to pretend it's not. So anything that has AK pop
- 1:09:22label, we automatically assume like it's just people making fun
- 1:09:26of it or like doing the most stereotypical like satire of K
- 1:09:31pop in the world. So I was hesitant and it's look
- 1:09:35like you. I think it took Gina and it took
- 1:09:38my friend Brianna to finally text me be like, have you seen K
- 1:09:41Pop Demon Hunter? I was like, Oh my God, I'll
- 1:09:43finally watch this. Fine.
- 1:09:46It's the same thing with Sen cuz Sen like went into the group
- 1:09:49chat, into the group chat that I have and she's all like, OK,
- 1:09:53what the hell is this? Like is it good?
- 1:09:56I literally I was like, girl, you need to watch it.
- 1:09:58Like you need to watch it right now.
- 1:10:01Like it's so good. Like it's not the cheesy shit
- 1:10:05that you think it would be. Like watch it, you're going to
- 1:10:08enjoy it. I'm like the message and the
- 1:10:10meaning behind it is really good.
- 1:10:12I'm like, and the music is a bop.
- 1:10:14Like you will walk away like wanting to jam out to the music
- 1:10:19so. All right, so we're going to go
- 1:10:21ahead and open up the movie with a crowd and a ginormous stadium
- 1:10:25chanting the name Huntrix. During this we also get a
- 1:10:29voiceover of a woman that we later will learn is Celine,
- 1:10:33giving a brief history about how the Huntrix came to be and their
- 1:10:36secret identity. So I have a direct quote from
- 1:10:41the movie. So she says.
- 1:10:42Demons have always haunted our world, stealing our souls and
- 1:10:46channeling strength back to the King Guima until heroes rose to
- 1:10:50defeat to defend us. Born with voices that can drive
- 1:10:54back the darkness, singing songs of courage and hope, the Hunters
- 1:10:58are more than warriors. Our music ignites the soul and
- 1:11:00brings people together. With this connection, the first
- 1:11:03Hunters created a shield to protect our world, the Han Moon.
- 1:11:07Every generation, a new trio is chosen to fulfill our ultimate
- 1:11:12duty. A barrier so strong that is in
- 1:11:15impenchable. Yes, that's the word that will
- 1:11:19keep David Zincuima from our world forever.
- 1:11:22A golden honeymoon. And then after that, we switch
- 1:11:25over to Celine, telling them the story toward new trio Rumi, Mira
- 1:11:30and Zoe and how it's their turn to carry on this duty and it is
- 1:11:34their duty and voices that will create the Golden Hong Moon.
- 1:11:39And where Celine is telling the story to our new hunters and the
- 1:11:42audience is in front of a sacred tree or the Dangsan Namu.
- 1:11:47So there's actually many forms of like sticker shrines and
- 1:11:50places and Korea and therefore communities, periodic rituals
- 1:11:55for protection, prosperity and a good harvest.
- 1:11:57Now, I don't know if it's like that in today's time because of,
- 1:12:00you know, like modern day and all that.
- 1:12:02But back then it was not really sure about now, just because,
- 1:12:05you know, obviously don't live in Korea.
- 1:12:08The spirit trees are distinguished by having a left
- 1:12:11twisted straw rope, which is called a gum troll, and they
- 1:12:16signify sacred nature. Often festoon with straps or
- 1:12:20with stripes of white Mulberry paper, white cloth, or streamers
- 1:12:25of five colored cloth. Just also referenced as the old
- 1:12:30SEC tone. I have a feeling that they still
- 1:12:33have certain. Areas like this, yeah.
- 1:12:36Like, I've seen the dramas, Yeah.
- 1:12:38I've seen the dramas of, like, especially these trees, Like,
- 1:12:41they're still up, obviously, and I never knew what they were for,
- 1:12:45but now I do. So I just don't know if people
- 1:12:48still go to them to like, you know, do rituals or prey and
- 1:12:52things of that nature. I'm maybe in like, smaller
- 1:12:55towns. I wouldn't be surprised.
- 1:12:56Like, not big cities, you know? I think either people in like
- 1:13:00smaller towns or people that are still like the older generation,
- 1:13:06I can see that still doing that right and teaching or trying to
- 1:13:11teach like the younger generations to do that because
- 1:13:14it's something traditional. And I don't know if we want to
- 1:13:17say religious, but it's spiritual nonetheless.
- 1:13:21It's spiritual. Because there's a lot of, well,
- 1:13:24especially now because again, moderation, war, colonialism,
- 1:13:29all that. There's different religions in
- 1:13:31Korea. I do know a majority of them
- 1:13:35don't have a religion. Most of the charts I found says
- 1:13:38like 51%. Yeah I guess you considered
- 1:13:41atheist. So they don't really believe in
- 1:13:43any type of religion. I believe the second highest one
- 1:13:46is Christianity for the things I mentioned earlier.
- 1:13:49And then of course, like Buddhism is a big one, and I
- 1:13:52think Buddhism and Shamanism is separate and Confucianism, I
- 1:14:00always mispronounce that because confusion, confusionism was
- 1:14:04really big back in the Jones dynasty.
- 1:14:08So I mean that that whole thing could be a whole separate
- 1:14:11episode. But yeah, those are things I can
- 1:14:13remember off the top of my head from like previous research of
- 1:14:16like discussions we've had and things of that nature.
- 1:14:18And also just for looking this up as well when it came to like
- 1:14:21the religion and spirituality, because I'll bring that up too,
- 1:14:26just because some from talks online, you can tell we're
- 1:14:30looking at it at a Western lens and like our backgrounds of our
- 1:14:35specific religions, especially like Christianity compared to
- 1:14:39what the spirituality of this is based on due to like the Korean
- 1:14:44history. So all right, so we are back to
- 1:14:47the stadium for the Huntrick's final show of the world Tour.
- 1:14:51We have fans, you know, introducing each member, talking
- 1:14:54about them, their roles in the group, why certain fans have a
- 1:14:57specific member as their favorite or you know what we
- 1:15:01call them in the K pop world, biases and how they're sad that
- 1:15:05this is the last concert before they take a three month break,
- 1:15:08but they're excited for them and they need the break.
- 1:15:12That's that's one part where I was like, oh, this is fantasy.
- 1:15:18Listen, I don't know how many people actually be like, Oh
- 1:15:22yeah, they need a break. They really needed to compare to
- 1:15:25were like they're demanding music every like 2 to three
- 1:15:28months. So that's why I was like, I, I
- 1:15:31So this is the first part where I was like, OK, so this is the
- 1:15:33fiction part. Got it.
- 1:15:37I mean. Can we really say that though?
- 1:15:39Because like, there's still like a really good amount like us and
- 1:15:44Discord and everything like that agree that certain groups need
- 1:15:47to like freaking take a break. Yes, but I don't know how that's
- 1:15:51like for the majority is what I'm saying.
- 1:15:53I also don't know what it's like for Korea and their mindset when
- 1:15:56it comes to comebacks like that either.
- 1:15:58So especially I see it on a Western side, Yeah, I don't know
- 1:16:02what it's like for the Korean side and hoop like the majority
- 1:16:05of minority when it comes to things like that.
- 1:16:08Yeah, I could see that. So that's why I make the joke of
- 1:16:12like, oh, so that's. That's the fiction part of
- 1:16:15saying like. Oh well, they're going on a
- 1:16:16three months break but they really deserve it and we're
- 1:16:18going to miss them because we think like that.
- 1:16:20I don't know how many other people think like that, but the
- 1:16:24show was about to start in literal minutes and their
- 1:16:26manager Bobby notices that the girls aren't there yet.
- 1:16:29Which another thing I was like so y'all are going to wear no
- 1:16:33dress rehearsal? No like OK we're going to start
- 1:16:37the show in a few minutes and the girls aren't even there.
- 1:16:40Cool. Never happened in real life.
- 1:16:43But he pulls out his phone. And also another thing, they
- 1:16:46have their own private jet. Like how rich are they?
- 1:16:50I mean, they've been doing it for three years at least from
- 1:16:53what it says in the movies, but to.
- 1:16:55Real groups don't even have private but you were their
- 1:16:59groups name. I know, I know, I'm blurring the
- 1:17:02lines between animation and real life.
- 1:17:04I'm just saying no. No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:17:06It's not even that. It's more or less like.
- 1:17:08You also have to remember that these three girls are demon
- 1:17:12hunters and it happens every generation, so I'm pretty sure
- 1:17:15there's a certain wealth that gets put into.
- 1:17:18Place It's just wild to me though how it's displayed the
- 1:17:22world because I've never seen anyone have like their own again
- 1:17:24private jet with literally the logo of the group on there.
- 1:17:28Yeah, yeah, yeah. So but he notices their jet is
- 1:17:33going in the opposite direction of the stadium.
- 1:17:36So then he Facetimes roomies to let them know that they're off
- 1:17:39course. And then obviously while they're
- 1:17:41having their pre show, what do they call it?
- 1:17:44Not the pre show ramen, but like they're just having their pre
- 1:17:46show snacking, indulging. They realize that the plane has
- 1:17:50been hijacked by demons and they're trying to eat their fans
- 1:17:54souls. So that's how we get our first
- 1:17:56song, how it's done during the fight scene with the demons on
- 1:17:59the plane destroying their custom made private jet.
- 1:18:02And that is one of my favorite scenes, like having them free
- 1:18:04fall into the stadium and then finish off there.
- 1:18:08And it's funny how like everyone believes like the debits and
- 1:18:11then free falling was like special effects.
- 1:18:13Yeah, Oh my gosh, yes. That girl who took a picture
- 1:18:19with the demon, she's like great costume but then like took a
- 1:18:21picture with him. So cute.
- 1:18:25And the creator always mentions his two in interviews.
- 1:18:28But it really was nice to like see women, especially women and
- 1:18:32K Pop as two people who have been aware of the industry for a
- 1:18:36while and just know how it is like just to see them again,
- 1:18:39like E indulge when the demons was like talking to them, they
- 1:18:44were like burping and stuff. So it's just like actually be
- 1:18:47human, human beings. One of them said like in order
- 1:18:51to do this dance, they have to indulge at least 10,000
- 1:18:54calories. I've never heard that before.
- 1:18:56It's usually the opposite of how many calories they have to lose.
- 1:18:59So it was just really nice to see that.
- 1:19:03And I don't know too if you notice on their pre show ramen
- 1:19:07obviously they each have their own like ramen for them.
- 1:19:11You notice Zoes had an American hat on it like Uncle Sam.
- 1:19:16She's American. Go back and watch it and look at
- 1:19:20the ramen cub like she has a very old fashioned those really
- 1:19:23high American flag hats on her because she's American.
- 1:19:28Oh my. God, but.
- 1:19:29They do shit like that. So I thought that was like a
- 1:19:32nice detail. Yeah.
- 1:19:34It was just funny to me, like how when they were introducing
- 1:19:37her, one of the fans was like, she's from some place called
- 1:19:41Burbank, CA. I don't even think they said
- 1:19:47California. You just say Burbank.
- 1:19:50It would be funny Burbank. Like some from some.
- 1:19:53Burbank. He's called Burbank so.
- 1:19:58Funny, they hit, they hit a lot of things like and I remember
- 1:20:03cuz when you were watching it, I had told you, I need your live
- 1:20:07reactions. You need to send me until you
- 1:20:09did. And they did.
- 1:20:11They really did their research. I'm like, how certain?
- 1:20:15Fans react. And I do think I saw somewhere
- 1:20:17that they did actually like go to Korea, especially for like
- 1:20:20the set, like to get certain places that they were in like
- 1:20:24accurate. But like I feel like they went
- 1:20:26beyond too to like get reactions, K pop reactions,
- 1:20:29things like that. So once again, they did their
- 1:20:32research. Yeah, they did.
- 1:20:33They really did. So the the demon that was
- 1:20:36disguised as a flight attendant ended up getting away and so she
- 1:20:40goes back to the underworld. She's terrified, but she lets
- 1:20:43Quema know that the hundreds got away and that they're just too
- 1:20:46strong, upsetting him and setting her on fire, which
- 1:20:50killed her. While the demons are in despair,
- 1:20:53we hear the strum of an instrument and the voice of a
- 1:20:55male basically giving like a rhyme and song tale about the
- 1:20:59king. Could we later find out his
- 1:21:00name? Gino.
- 1:21:01So this is where we first meet Gino.
- 1:21:04He proposes the idea to start a new strategy, the feeding the
- 1:21:07hunters by using the one thing that powers the Hong Moon, the
- 1:21:10fans. What or whatever that sound is.
- 1:21:15Man the people I see on TikTok recreating that is so funny.
- 1:21:20Oh God, you know that certain idols are doing it now too.
- 1:21:24Oh my God. I've seen so many boy groups do
- 1:21:28that, it's cute. It is.
- 1:21:31It's so funny though. At first, the demon king laughs
- 1:21:35at the idea of a demon boy band, but once, like, the other saja
- 1:21:38boys basically transform into beautiful men.
- 1:21:42And the other demons are like, oh, yeah, this could work.
- 1:21:44Yeah, this could totally work. And then he's like, OK, so maybe
- 1:21:47this could work. But he also acts as Gina What?
- 1:21:50He wants to return, claiming that he never does anything for
- 1:21:52free. And they make a deal that if
- 1:21:54this is successful, the demon king will remove Gina's memories
- 1:21:57of his regret when he was a human.
- 1:22:00And also I just wanted to point out because I don't know if you
- 1:22:02know this Lala, but that scene when he Gino was singing that
- 1:22:06actually is on. He also singing.
- 1:22:08That's the only time he actually, yeah, like sings in
- 1:22:10the movie. And the rest of the time it's
- 1:22:12Andrew Che. So plus who he.
- 1:22:16Yeah, you can tell. Yeah, you can tell.
- 1:22:19It's a different voice, Yeah. Cuz like it wasn't.
- 1:22:22And I think the second time that I watched it, or maybe even the
- 1:22:25first time I even noticed, I'm like, that's, that's a different
- 1:22:29voice that's singing right there.
- 1:22:30And that's for all of them, for all the characters, because
- 1:22:32obviously we know that it's different voices from the acting
- 1:22:35perspective, from the singing perspective.
- 1:22:37So. And I have it LinkedIn the
- 1:22:41description box too. But he actually did also do like
- 1:22:44a really short minute cover of Free, so he is a good singer.
- 1:22:47I do wish this part where he's singing about the Demon King.
- 1:22:50And there were some other songs too that I do wish were in the
- 1:22:53soundtrack. Me too, but I don't think they
- 1:22:55made them long enough which is why and they just didn't bother
- 1:22:59to like continue the song to put it onto the.
- 1:23:02Yeah. But I mean, I feel like there
- 1:23:03are some movie soundtracks where they still use just put them in
- 1:23:06there even if they're like 30 seconds long.
- 1:23:09I don't know. Yeah, it would have been nice
- 1:23:11though, because then you would have literally gotten the entire
- 1:23:14soundtrack from the entire movie.
- 1:23:16So then you can picture each scene as it's happening, because
- 1:23:19at least that's what I do with. Yeah, that's literally what I do
- 1:23:22with The Nightmare Before Christmas.
- 1:23:24I actually can listen to the entire soundtrack and I know
- 1:23:27exactly what scene it's at. Because I also wish that music
- 1:23:32that was used when the soundtrack boys were introduced
- 1:23:34was in the soundtrack. One of them is, but that one we
- 1:23:39first see the four boys. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:42I wish that song was in the soundtrack, whether if it was
- 1:23:45that short or if it was long term.
- 1:23:48So when the Huntrix comes down from the stage, they celebrate
- 1:23:51seeing the whole moon slightly turned golden, which while they
- 1:23:55were singing. And then, you know, they get
- 1:23:56excited about that but also get excited by their break, which
- 1:24:00they said a two week break, though I wrote down to week
- 1:24:04break and the girl said three months.
- 1:24:08Well, if you really think about it now, let's think of it
- 1:24:11logically. Yes, the group itself for fans
- 1:24:15can take a three month break, but the idols might only take a
- 1:24:19two week break and then having to start working again to have
- 1:24:23everything up and running within the three month window.
- 1:24:26So we might think the idols might be taking a three month
- 1:24:28break, but technically they might not be.
- 1:24:30And then you have also like the advertisement that do you know
- 1:24:36other things that they have to work on on like the side as
- 1:24:40well? Any promotions that they have to
- 1:24:42do? So you're right, you're right.
- 1:24:45I didn't think about that until after I asked that and then you
- 1:24:47started saying it. But we've been proofing time and
- 1:24:49time, especially in real life too, how that's the case.
- 1:24:51So also make sure you pay attention to when they do go
- 1:24:58backstage and they're in the elevator going down.
- 1:25:01I also want to know how big the stadium is.
- 1:25:03Roomie does have a short spat where she's coughing, so that's
- 1:25:08going to become very important later on.
- 1:25:12So then when we get back to their place, I also enjoy just a
- 1:25:15tad bit, not in the notes when Bobby was like, oh, I rented out
- 1:25:19this hotel for you guys to relax it.
- 1:25:21And she's like, oh, it's fine. We're just going to relax at
- 1:25:24home. But why don't you take the hotel
- 1:25:26room? Bobby?
- 1:25:26He's like, Oh no, I can never. I'm a 34 short in a robe.
- 1:25:32It's just like, it's just like little things like that that I
- 1:25:35really enjoy. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:38No, Bobby. Bobby.
- 1:25:40I love their relationship. Like everyone I've been seeing
- 1:25:43lately, everyone's been like, oh, Bobby's like their father
- 1:25:46figure in their life. And it really is because he
- 1:25:49loves and supports them. So, yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:53And also to the creators, I think a couple days ago had like
- 1:25:58AQ and A on Reddit. So I did see Maggie's say that
- 1:26:04she envisions Rumi and Mira to be between like 23 and 24, with
- 1:26:10Rumi being older by like 6 months.
- 1:26:12And then, you know, Zoe's the youngest, so probably at like
- 1:26:1422. So these are young girls, but
- 1:26:16they're like in their early 20s, which makes sense if again,
- 1:26:19they've been doing this for about 3 to five years, I
- 1:26:22believe. Three years publicly is the way
- 1:26:25that I see it. So again, Bobby's been in their
- 1:26:28life for a very long time, which is what normally happens with
- 1:26:31managers. Yeah.
- 1:26:33So all. Right.
- 1:26:34So then we get to them in their apartment, which I know a lot of
- 1:26:37people in K Pop refers to like the dorm, but they're really
- 1:26:41just like places the groups live together.
- 1:26:43And then we see Zoe and Mira get super excited about the couch.
- 1:26:46We got our new thing. Couch, couch, couch, couch,
- 1:26:48couch. You know what's so funny?
- 1:26:51If you Google K Pop demon hunters on.
- 1:26:54Comes up. Yeah, it comes up.
- 1:26:56I saw that this. Morning Couch Couch.
- 1:26:58Couch. Couch couch in their bathrobes
- 1:27:03and they have like 2 weeks worth of snacks and food so they don't
- 1:27:07have to move unless they have to like go to the bathroom.
- 1:27:10Meanwhile, roomie is being sneaky and she's like, oh, so
- 1:27:15you know the whole new started turning gold.
- 1:27:17Let's speed up this process. So she goes down to where they
- 1:27:20have like all of these costumes picks out her costume and then
- 1:27:24on her phone sneakly releases their new song golden and tells
- 1:27:28them like hey guys so it's time to get back to work.
- 1:27:31And then we get that hilarious scene where she's like, slowly
- 1:27:35rises from behind the couch. As soon as they sat down, she's
- 1:27:37like, hey, guys, did you enjoy your break?
- 1:27:39And Mira is like, we just sat down, what are you talking
- 1:27:42about? And then it reels her costume,
- 1:27:45and they both look at her like, roomie, what did you do not tell
- 1:27:49me? You release the song.
- 1:27:50It comes out tonight, Yeah. I'm like, no, no couchy time.
- 1:27:57And then and then poor Zoe, when Bobby came in, she's like, we
- 1:28:02didn't get couchy time. But apparently Bobby was ready
- 1:28:06because he also had his promotional golden outfit on
- 1:28:09when he told them it was. Friendly.
- 1:28:13Yeah. I don't know.
- 1:28:14Sometimes I feel like that does happen it.
- 1:28:17Probably does. I just, I have a feeling that
- 1:28:20that does happen. I do have a question for you
- 1:28:22though. It's going to be a very silly
- 1:28:23question. And this is also for everyone
- 1:28:25that's listening. Any time that you have a moment
- 1:28:28that you know that you're going to chill and you're just going
- 1:28:31to either watch movies, watch shows, or whatever, sit on the
- 1:28:34couch. How long does your snacks
- 1:28:36actually last? We'll see.
- 1:28:37Because I don't bring my snacks with me.
- 1:28:40I like, that's a hard question for me because sometimes I get
- 1:28:43so engrossed in things. Unfortunately, I am a person who
- 1:28:46forgets to eat something that day until I'm starving.
- 1:28:49I'm like, you know what? Maybe I should get up and eat
- 1:28:50something. So do you mean snacks I bring
- 1:28:54with me or like if I, let's say I have a bag of chips in like
- 1:28:57the cabinet and then like how long it takes me to finish that
- 1:29:00bag of chips, Is that what you mean?
- 1:29:02Yeah. I mean what it is because if
- 1:29:05it's something I really, really enjoy, it can be like a few days
- 1:29:08like unfortunately I'm going to expose myself like I bought
- 1:29:11myself like a little mini cake. I'm also a person where like I
- 1:29:15go through this really bad habit to where like I try to go so
- 1:29:19long without sweets and then when I introduce it back I'm
- 1:29:22like, that's all I want to. Eat Gene.
- 1:29:24Yeah. Yeah, so like I was able to
- 1:29:26finish a very small cake by myself within three days, which
- 1:29:30you can judge me as much as you want, okay?
- 1:29:33Girl, I was gonna say you do a lot better than we do because
- 1:29:35like when me and Krista decided to like have we're just chilling
- 1:29:39this weekend. We're not doing anything.
- 1:29:41We plan to do our groceries on Friday and we get all our
- 1:29:45weekend snacks right? Including the snacks that are
- 1:29:48meant to last us for like 2 weeks.
- 1:29:50Yeah, almost everything is like gone by.
- 1:29:53Like it's gone Saturday night. Oh yeah, I've done that.
- 1:29:58Before, yeah, when I saw the girls and like how you just said
- 1:30:02they had so many snacks for their next two weeks, I look, I
- 1:30:06the picture came into my head and I'm like, yeah, that was not
- 1:30:09going to last them two weeks. That would have been gone the
- 1:30:12next day if they actually was able to take a break.
- 1:30:15If they decided to go to sleep, that too didn't decide to go to
- 1:30:19sleep that night, that stuff would have been gone.
- 1:30:21It would. Have been gone in the morning.
- 1:30:23Yeah, exactly. And see again, this is something
- 1:30:27we can relate to as women. Like this is the real side,
- 1:30:30guys. We're not all pretty and
- 1:30:32pristine. And you know, this is the real
- 1:30:35us. I, I, I have yet to meet someone
- 1:30:38that doesn't enjoy, like a woman that doesn't enjoy eating in
- 1:30:42some formal way, you know? Yeah, we all love to snack.
- 1:30:46Honestly, just give us food. We'll be happy.
- 1:30:49Exactly. Like, so much can be solved.
- 1:30:52It's so much can be solved if we have food in our system.
- 1:30:56Like, we won't be as grumpy. And that's our fault too,
- 1:31:01because we'd be trying to do so much and just run on coffee and
- 1:31:04have no food. So if we actually just, you
- 1:31:06know, give us coffee and some food, then we're fine guys.
- 1:31:08We're chill. Exactly.
- 1:31:11Easy fix. So Golden gets released with the
- 1:31:14countdown and the song, you know, is about their past and
- 1:31:17securities, but you know, like how they can come together
- 1:31:20stronger together like gold. And like obviously this is about
- 1:31:24them secretly being hunters that they will succeed in turning the
- 1:31:27Hong Moon Gold. That's just me.
- 1:31:29I'm sure you picked up on that as well.
- 1:31:31Like to call a song Golden? Yeah.
- 1:31:35So we do, you know, get like kind of a montage and glimpse of
- 1:31:39the music video, golden fans watching it.
- 1:31:42And through that as well, we get like the girls giving an
- 1:31:44interview about the song during the song to kind of getting into
- 1:31:48the bridge. We kind of get like this scene
- 1:31:50of panning from the studio, Mira and Zoe sharing a green room.
- 1:31:56And then we see Rumi actually has a private one all by
- 1:31:58herself, which again, usually in K pop groups, they all just have
- 1:32:01one. There's no like one specific
- 1:32:04star among the others. But again, it's a movie.
- 1:32:07It also goes into like the Western thing because I, I feel
- 1:32:10like you can tie into like how we view groups and we're always
- 1:32:13like, you know, this one member is the breakout star.
- 1:32:16You know, it's a tale as old as time.
- 1:32:18So yeah, yes. But she's in her own private
- 1:32:21room basically getting ready for the viewing.
- 1:32:24And even within the song, when she's singing about like hiding,
- 1:32:28takes off her jacket and it actually reveals to everyone
- 1:32:31that she has the same purple markings on her arm as the
- 1:32:35demons that they were fighting on the plane, revealing that
- 1:32:38Rumi is part demon plot. Twist I did wonder about that.
- 1:32:45Like when I first seen it I was all like is she part demon or
- 1:32:50did something happen that she became a demon or is becoming a
- 1:32:54demon? I should have known, but I
- 1:32:56wasn't expecting it because I I had no expectations going into
- 1:32:59this movie The first time I watched it.
- 1:33:00So it was actually a surprise for me.
- 1:33:01I'm like, OK, so we're doing the half demon thing.
- 1:33:04Good, good. I liked how they revealed it to
- 1:33:06like through the song. It was very a smart choice to
- 1:33:11them because like until that part, it made me like realize
- 1:33:14like, oh shit, she's always covering, you know, her arms and
- 1:33:17her neck because that's what the marks are.
- 1:33:20So during the rehearsal for the live TV broadcasting of the
- 1:33:24show, as there's singing roomies voice arts cracking every time
- 1:33:27she tries to hit the high notes in the song, she runs out to the
- 1:33:31dressing room and then zips down the little shirt she's wearing
- 1:33:35that goes up to her neck and sees that the marks actually are
- 1:33:38starting to spread. And it's like kind of over her
- 1:33:40throat a little bit. So she panics and fully runs out
- 1:33:43of the studio. And then we start getting
- 1:33:45flashbacks so far as little girl singing the Hunter's song about
- 1:33:48how they defeat demons with their songs to protect the
- 1:33:51world. In that same flashback, we get
- 1:33:53Celine braiding her hair in front of what we consume, assume
- 1:33:56or know now is Rumi's mother's grave.
- 1:33:59Because early on, they did say that she had passed away when
- 1:34:02Rumi was an infant. Little baby roomie axes Celine
- 1:34:06like when she's done singing, like, do they actually kill
- 1:34:08everything with a mark? And she lifts up her sleeve to
- 1:34:11show that she has markings on her shoulder.
- 1:34:14But at that time, it's not like all over her arms like it is as
- 1:34:17she's older. So I think that it was also an
- 1:34:20important plot point. It's just like on the tidbit of
- 1:34:22her shoulder. But then Celine quickly tells
- 1:34:25her to cover them up, saying that she's not like those other
- 1:34:28demons or like her father as well and that she's more like
- 1:34:32her mother who was a hunter. And then she also tells Rumi
- 1:34:36that, you know, once the Hone moon is fully sealed, all the
- 1:34:39demons will be gone from the world and her marks will
- 1:34:41disappear as well. And then in another flashback,
- 1:34:45we see that they are older and I guess what looks like Celine's
- 1:34:49office. So I'm assuming maybe she's like
- 1:34:51she like considered the CEO for Hunter.
- 1:34:54I'm assuming that's what it looks.
- 1:34:55Like I'm thinking, I feel like in every generation, whenever a
- 1:34:59new trio comes out, one girl or if not all three of the women
- 1:35:06that were previously the hunters helped to train the new ones
- 1:35:10that are coming in, I'm going to take their spot.
- 1:35:13So I feel like they're the teachers while the new ones tend
- 1:35:16to be the trainees type of thing, which I wonder if that
- 1:35:20like that's the situation that happens.
- 1:35:23It seemed like it. And I mean, we've seen that in
- 1:35:26real life too, like comedy CE OS that we know of used to be, you
- 1:35:29know, like performers or an idol group.
- 1:35:31So famous one is, you know, YG from YG Entertainment himself.
- 1:35:37So, but in that flashback, we see Mira and Zoe are like
- 1:35:42basically begging roomie to join them at a bath house.
- 1:35:45And so she like covers up her shoulder.
- 1:35:47I don't think they can see Rumi. I think they're like outside
- 1:35:50Celine's office. And Rumi is in Celine's office
- 1:35:53kind of hiding behind the wall. And she's like, you know,
- 1:35:56telling them that she can't go and like maybe next time.
- 1:35:59And she declines. And then mirror is always like
- 1:36:02that's what she always says. But then when she comes out,
- 1:36:04she's like, you know, maybe I can tell them and that they'll
- 1:36:07understand. And Celine's very like demanding
- 1:36:09like no, can't tell them or it shouldn't even matter until and
- 1:36:15her patterns are gone, which basically reveals also to the
- 1:36:17audience that Mira and Zoe do not know that she is part demon.
- 1:36:21So it's basically a secret for everyone except for her and
- 1:36:23Celine. All right.
- 1:36:24But then we come back to the present and we see how much the
- 1:36:27patterns have spread onto Rumi's arms.
- 1:36:29And when she was running away, she ends up on a rooftop.
- 1:36:32She's trying to sing the song but her voice keeps cracking.
- 1:36:36She gets discouraged and acts out loud.
- 1:36:37Like how is she supposed to save the world and fix herself?
- 1:36:41Meaning like have her marks removed if she doesn't have a
- 1:36:43voice. And then she lets out the most
- 1:36:45frustrating scream. And like within that scream it
- 1:36:48actually turns like into a demonic kind of sound for the
- 1:36:51first time ever. And it actually sends like this
- 1:36:54ripple of a red type wave throughout the Hong moon.
- 1:36:57So then after that we see that the girls are at like a
- 1:37:01restaurant trying to comfort Roomie for cancelling the live
- 1:37:03show while Bobby tries to scramble to fix it.
- 1:37:07Where's always like, it's fine Roomy, Bobby can handle this.
- 1:37:11He calls them girls. I can't handle this.
- 1:37:14Got a lot of upset fans, the studios angry, but it's fine.
- 1:37:17That's why you pay me 3%. That's why I want to know how
- 1:37:19rich they are, okay? We'll never get that answer,
- 1:37:23but. It's fine.
- 1:37:24It's fine, but Mirror also does ask a very important question of
- 1:37:30why did Rumi push out gold in so early if she was having trouble
- 1:37:33with her voice and Rumi says it's because they're so close to
- 1:37:36turning the home of gold. You also suddenly besides the
- 1:37:40main goal they all know of like see like away the demons, Rumi
- 1:37:43has an alternative of like getting rid of her marks because
- 1:37:46that is what she believes. So Zoe has an idea out of her 57
- 1:37:51ideas to go to this Doctor Who has these specific tonics that
- 1:37:55should help Rumi with her voice so that when they go out there,
- 1:37:59you know, like in disguise so they won't be recognized.
- 1:38:01And when they go to the office, the background people are
- 1:38:05talking about like there's going to be a free concert busking and
- 1:38:08then like the last thing we see is a guy acts who are the saja
- 1:38:11boys? And I thought it was funny.
- 1:38:15Yes Dun Dun Dun. I thought it was funny because
- 1:38:18again I had the link in the description box where they did
- 1:38:21like a short 5 to 6 minute video with the twice girls and they
- 1:38:25were like reviewing the Huntrixes different outfits and
- 1:38:28different scenes. And it was interesting when they
- 1:38:31talked about the casual clothes, when even, I think it was G who,
- 1:38:34Geo who was talking about how it was like, if you wanted to make
- 1:38:39it more realistic, like, the girls would have been wearing
- 1:38:41masks because, you know, they wear masks in Korea.
- 1:38:44Yeah. And it was just like, cute
- 1:38:45because one thing she had pointed out for, like, the group
- 1:38:48herself twice, she was like, they get recognized more if
- 1:38:52there's more than four of them because, you know, there's nine
- 1:38:55and twice. So if there's too many of them,
- 1:38:57it's more easy for people to recognize them than if they're,
- 1:39:00like, by themselves or like, or two of them.
- 1:39:03Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:39:05It's a good video again people should watch it that I have
- 1:39:07linked below. So the shady doctor examines
- 1:39:11Rumi and tells her she has a lot of walls built up and starts
- 1:39:15talking about like all these problems he sees with like Zoe
- 1:39:19and Mira mainly like Rumi being a workaholic, it seems like Zoe
- 1:39:23is too eager to please people and Mira just scares him.
- 1:39:27And then like I was getting suspicious of the doctor so I'm
- 1:39:29like so are you like a demon or something?
- 1:39:31How are you? How are you doing all this?
- 1:39:33But we never got further into that.
- 1:39:36I also didn't list him in the introduction, but the person who
- 1:39:41plays the doctor, his name is Daniel Day Kim.
- 1:39:44He is also a pretty well known actor and a lot of stuff.
- 1:39:47And he as well plays in the live action remake of Avatar the Last
- 1:39:52Airbender. Do you know who he plays?
- 1:39:54La La? No.
- 1:39:56Fire Lord Ozai. That was him.
- 1:40:02Oh, Yep. That is our doctor in this
- 1:40:05movie. Just a little you know I.
- 1:40:07Wouldn't have been able to Yeah, I wouldn't have been able to put
- 1:40:09two and two together. Like if I don't go and look for
- 1:40:13the information because obviously the obviously they you
- 1:40:16you know, you can play with your voice.
- 1:40:18So yeah, I don't I did not take him seriously as him playing the
- 1:40:23doctor here. That's like I started laughing
- 1:40:26when I read like you, you said shady doctor.
- 1:40:29I was like, very listen. He's definitely one of those
- 1:40:34doctors that just be giving you the cheapest over the counter
- 1:40:38medicine saying this is a special thing for this.
- 1:40:41Yeah shady shady all around. Not a real doctor, a scam.
- 1:40:46Literally. Which is why it's like.
- 1:40:48I don't even think he'd be a demon.
- 1:40:51True. Well.
- 1:40:53No, because that means that people would be dying coming out
- 1:40:56of his clinic. True, you're right.
- 1:41:01You're right. OK.
- 1:41:03So in the end, they end up getting the tonics thanks to Zoe
- 1:41:06giving him a picture of the group that he was able to glue a
- 1:41:09picture of himself next to, I'm sure for business being like,
- 1:41:12hey, you know, the hunt tricks or I know the hunt tricks or
- 1:41:15something like that. They're endorsing me.
- 1:41:17And as they're walking down like an alleyway, that is when we
- 1:41:20meet the Saja boys. The very creative way of like
- 1:41:25Zoe and Mira like going through phases of their eyes of like
- 1:41:28seeing them and then turning into corn and then the butter
- 1:41:33and then turns into popcorn when we finally see the AB just to
- 1:41:37emphasize how hot they are. Girls going crazy over hot boys.
- 1:41:43And then my favorite part was when Rumi looked so disgusting
- 1:41:46and she started saying something to them.
- 1:41:48I don't remember her exact lines but when she looks over and sees
- 1:41:50Ginu I was like yes bring on the K drama scene.
- 1:41:53When it slows down and he pushes his bangs out of his eyes and
- 1:41:59her mouth opens and everything just freezes around them.
- 1:42:02And I thought it was hilarious because they also do this in K
- 1:42:05dramas when like they may slightly bump into each other
- 1:42:08but then the girl like falls. Like she's been pushed 10 feet
- 1:42:11away and her face when she's slowly falling.
- 1:42:15God. And then we thought we were
- 1:42:16going to get that they really did.
- 1:42:19Thought we were going to get the normal trope of like when she
- 1:42:22looks at him, he was going to offer help but then he dusts his
- 1:42:25off his shoulder. Like you should watch where
- 1:42:26you're going. Being a real jerk, although that
- 1:42:29is also a troping K dramas too. So it could have went either
- 1:42:33way. But they drove, they chose the
- 1:42:35jerk way. And then I also love when they
- 1:42:38start gagging over the boys where they're like they're just
- 1:42:41so and he's like, no, they're actually like pretending to
- 1:42:44throw up. It's like gross boys, but then
- 1:42:50they start hearing music and when they go over to it, they
- 1:42:53see it's the same boys that they pass busking in the streets as
- 1:42:57Lala starts doing the little the dance, the shoulders while
- 1:43:02performing. While performing, they do see a
- 1:43:06flash of purple marks on Abby's arm and Ginu's next.
- 1:43:10So they realize they're not just the boy band but a demon boy
- 1:43:13band. But they can't do anything about
- 1:43:16it since they're in public. And Rumi realizes quickly
- 1:43:20they're trying to seduce the fans.
- 1:43:22And it's working. And that's when we get in line.
- 1:43:27What of your soul being I? Yeah.
- 1:43:30For people who don't know, I make fun of Lala a lot when we
- 1:43:33message each other. Of like, how she would be one of
- 1:43:36the first Knowles, the first soul snatched.
- 1:43:38OK, Yes. Yes.
- 1:43:40I don't even think she would have made it to the end song.
- 1:43:42I think they would have taken her soul during soda pop.
- 1:43:45Yes, yes, they would have. Because like, I'm not gonna deny
- 1:43:49it. I'm literally Zoe.
- 1:43:52That's why I think I love Zoe too, because I'm literally Zoe.
- 1:43:55Zoe just the entire time. And she lives right away.
- 1:43:58Like magicians. No, no, no.
- 1:44:01Demons. They're demons, by the way.
- 1:44:03That is something a magician would do.
- 1:44:06Yes. And she's like, maybe they're
- 1:44:08nice demons, and they're like, demons aren't nice.
- 1:44:11Yep, which technically I feel. Like she is the one to kick off
- 1:44:14that theme. When she says maybe they're nice
- 1:44:17demons. It's the first.
- 1:44:19Like, I don't know what word to use.
- 1:44:22Yeah. Like hints shouldn't hints,
- 1:44:25yeah. Yeah, so once they're done and
- 1:44:28leave. And it's also funny.
- 1:44:30And the anime world where they're like, catch us on this
- 1:44:34idol show and they just disappear.
- 1:44:36And no one questions how they disappear, except for when Zoe
- 1:44:40was like, That's yeah. Yeah, that's when Zoe was not
- 1:44:43like that's by the way, that's what a magician would do like
- 1:44:45yeah, cuz that is something a magician.
- 1:44:47So but I mean, if you think about it, that would that would
- 1:44:51pique your interest. That's the reason why they did
- 1:44:52that. True.
- 1:44:53Cuz if all of a sudden you're like listening to them, they're
- 1:44:56dancing, they're performing, and then out of nowhere they
- 1:44:59disappear. You're like, whoa, can they also
- 1:45:01do magic? You know, so it piques your
- 1:45:04interest again. I'm a sucker.
- 1:45:06I would be the first one down. It's fine.
- 1:45:07It's fine. You would.
- 1:45:09It's OK. Be like rest in peace.
- 1:45:11Voila, I lost her. I lost her to the Sasha boys.
- 1:45:16Yeah, just put that on the headstone.
- 1:45:18It's OK. Lost her to soda pop.
- 1:45:23No, just put Sacha boys because OK idol.
- 1:45:27Anyways, OK, let's keep going. Can I put in quotation marks?
- 1:45:31Control your shoulders. Control those shoulders.
- 1:45:35Yes. OK, I'm gonna put that on your
- 1:45:38tombstone. Yes.
- 1:45:39Anyway, so the girls get ready in battle mode.
- 1:45:42And that part was so funny of them getting dressed and then
- 1:45:45the nail said kill Saja. I want to know who did the cacao
- 1:45:50because they were too far away when they're like let's go get
- 1:45:53them cacao like. I couldn't see who which one it
- 1:45:56was. I need to know who actually did
- 1:45:58that because that had me dying, OK?
- 1:46:02My money would be on Zoe, probably My money, probably my
- 1:46:06money would be on Zoe, yeah. It was so funny.
- 1:46:10But yes, they ended up going over to the variety show that
- 1:46:14they're at at all. Listen, I I think sometimes
- 1:46:17variety shows are way of like torture, but that's just me.
- 1:46:21I don't find it enjoyable to watch people I like drink hot
- 1:46:25sauce until they can't anymore. But yeah, anyway, humiliation
- 1:46:30rituals, it's fine. It's fine.
- 1:46:32And baby Sasha won that, of course.
- 1:46:36But once they were done, Ginu had noticed them and he puts
- 1:46:39them on the spot to make it easier for them to escape.
- 1:46:42So that part was also funny, the way he says play games with us
- 1:46:47trending. And how they wanted them to
- 1:46:50slide down into the ball pit and like in, in the balls, in the
- 1:46:55balls. And the leather had betrayed
- 1:46:57them. Because when they're sliding
- 1:46:59down, it's squeaking so much and one guy's like, make it stop.
- 1:47:06They should have saw that coming.
- 1:47:08It's fine. It's fine.
- 1:47:10Even Zoe was like, the leather has betrayed us and the bowing
- 1:47:15competition was so funny. It's like no, like breaking
- 1:47:18their backs trying to bow to each other.
- 1:47:21It's like it's our honour. No ours.
- 1:47:23No ours, ours. Yeah.
- 1:47:25And then you can hear that. Ow ow.
- 1:47:27My back. And that's how you also know
- 1:47:31they're not teenagers if they're complaining about their back for
- 1:47:33how far they're bowing. Cowing.
- 1:47:38So funny. But the boys end up running out,
- 1:47:40distracted from the bowing. They've run into a bathhouse.
- 1:47:43Unfortunately it is a male one, but the Huntrix follows them and
- 1:47:47ends up fighting off these special water demons.
- 1:47:50Now Rumi ends up running off on her own and catches up with Gino
- 1:47:54in the middle of their fight. He looks at the RIP that he
- 1:47:57created on her arm on the costume when they were fighting
- 1:48:01and it reveals her marks which completely confuses and stuns
- 1:48:05Gino because he's like how can she be a hunter and she is part
- 1:48:11demon So. And then there is a moment where
- 1:48:13I think one of the girls threw a demon through the wall and it
- 1:48:17goes into like a really cool slow motion effect where they're
- 1:48:20looking for Rumi. And then Ginu out of nowhere
- 1:48:24ends up actually shielding her. Kind of looks like he's hugging
- 1:48:27her. And then when he leaves, we
- 1:48:29notice that during that time, like super demon speed, I'm
- 1:48:32assuming he wraps a towel around her arm to cover up the marks
- 1:48:35before he escapes. So when the demons finally
- 1:48:40defeat or when the Huntrix finally defeats the demons that
- 1:48:42are in there and they leave because the old man kicks them
- 1:48:45out, we do see him start to sing soda pop and then a demon
- 1:48:48appears behind and takes his soul.
- 1:48:52Would have been me. That would have been Lala.
- 1:48:56And then Gino is brought down to the underworld by Guima himself.
- 1:49:00The demons are cheering. They're have, I think they had
- 1:49:04light sticks. So the Sasha boys already
- 1:49:07demons, correct? Yep Yep.
- 1:49:09Being praised. And then you see some souls in
- 1:49:11the sky heading towards Guima. So it's obviously starting to
- 1:49:15work. Interestingly, Guima tells Ginu
- 1:49:18that there's a hunter who bears his marks, but he has no control
- 1:49:23over her. But Ginu reassures Guima that
- 1:49:25it's a good thing because it means she has shame ever.
- 1:49:29She's ashamed of something and he'll find out what it is.
- 1:49:32And he also reassures Guimar that everything is going
- 1:49:35according to plan. All right, so we get to the
- 1:49:38Huntrix back at their dorm after the fight, looking all cut up
- 1:49:42and bloody. They're looking out the window
- 1:49:44and they see the Hone Moon now has all these red spots in them,
- 1:49:47which are like holes that are weak spots, making it easier for
- 1:49:50the demons to come out. Bobby comes up and shows them
- 1:49:53that the salsa boys are trending on social media.
- 1:49:56And then I thought it was just, you know, very ironic where he's
- 1:49:58like worrying. And he's like, you know what?
- 1:50:00It's just social media. I have to get away from my
- 1:50:03phone. And he looks out and he sees a
- 1:50:04beautiful city while the girls look out and see the whole moon
- 1:50:08being destroyed. He's like, it's not the end of
- 1:50:10the world from his perspective. And then the girls look out and
- 1:50:13it's like, no, it's literally. The end of the world, Oh, that
- 1:50:19was. But even before that, it's funny
- 1:50:22when he's scrolling what assumingly is like their version
- 1:50:25of TikTok and seeing all the people do the sold the
- 1:50:27shoulders, the shoulders soda pop.
- 1:50:29And then you see Zoe come up behind him to watch, and they're
- 1:50:33like Bobby, Zoe, control those shoulders.
- 1:50:36And Zoe right away, she's all like, it's a really good song.
- 1:50:40They're really good, yes. Bobby even agreed even though
- 1:50:43after his comment he literally says he's all like but they
- 1:50:46suck. Yes, because he still has to
- 1:50:48support his girls. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50:51So in order to keep the fans, Rumi comes up with the idea to
- 1:50:54defeat the Saja boys at the Idol award show with the diss track.
- 1:50:58That way they can keep their fans happy, complete the hormone
- 1:51:01and defeat the demons. Now after that Rumi goes back
- 1:51:05into her room and she sees the scarf that Ginu put on her arm
- 1:51:09like on her bed and she starts thinking of him only to meet up
- 1:51:12with his companion Sussy which is a set a six eyed magpie and
- 1:51:18Derpy the tiger. They have an invitation from
- 1:51:22Jinu to roomie so they can meet up and have a chat.
- 1:51:26Roomie thought she had the element of surprise to kill him
- 1:51:29and unfortunately Jinu seems like he's one step ahead with
- 1:51:32the mannequin saying it was an icebreaker.
- 1:51:36Also making fun of her having trains.
- 1:51:39What was it? Trains and something else on her
- 1:51:41pajama pants. Teddy bears and trains.
- 1:51:44Teddy bears. Ginu confronts Rumi about her
- 1:51:51being a demon who who is also a hunter and how he figured out
- 1:51:55really quickly that her friends are unaware but he kept her
- 1:51:59secret. He's asking her questions about
- 1:52:01her Marks and if she can hear Guima talking to her like how
- 1:52:04the other demons cons how the other demons can constantly hear
- 1:52:08him. He does try to relate to Rumi
- 1:52:11about like knowing how she feels when it comes to hiding.
- 1:52:14She says demons don't feel and he tells her that that's all
- 1:52:17demons do is feel. All they feel is misery and
- 1:52:21shame 24/7 so then end that as well.
- 1:52:26Like I do have a in this specific scene, I do wonder
- 1:52:30because I feel like some demons are created and just like and
- 1:52:37then there's demons like Gino that were human but then later
- 1:52:42on got converted to to demons because they agreed and
- 1:52:48basically gave their soul up. I'm a slightly.
- 1:52:51Come back to that later on. But I also had that question,
- 1:52:56but I can explain a little bit more with Korean history on that
- 1:52:59question you have slightly because I had something else
- 1:53:03that kind of goes into that as far as questions.
- 1:53:06So we can we can bring that up a little bit later.
- 1:53:09But for Gino himself, he goes into the back story of when he
- 1:53:12first heard Guima, which was 400 years ago.
- 1:53:15He talks about how his family was poor and how he tried to
- 1:53:17play Beep Bop, which is a pear shaped loot that is a Korean
- 1:53:22traditional instrument in the street to get money but had no
- 1:53:25luck. And then while he's looking into
- 1:53:28the reflection of himself in the puddle, that's when he actually
- 1:53:30starts hearing Guima voice. He's basically spewing doubt
- 1:53:34into him, telling him he's not good enough, he can never
- 1:53:36provide for his family however he can help him.
- 1:53:40And overnight is when he gets in that he gets invited to start
- 1:53:44playing and singing at the palace and for the king himself.
- 1:53:48Him and his family finally lived a comfortable life with clean
- 1:53:51clothes and full bellies. But then the pattern started to
- 1:53:55show over his body and then he was trapped in the demon world
- 1:53:58to serve Guima for all eternity. He says the marks are a reminder
- 1:54:01of a shame and that he can never escape it.
- 1:54:03But Rumi keeps telling him that they are not the same and she'll
- 1:54:06never be like him. And I am also going to again
- 1:54:09towards the end bring up the specific thing because it goes
- 1:54:13into something I have to say. But just remember his first
- 1:54:16initial story that he tells Rumi.
- 1:54:18Then we go into the montage of Huntrix creating takedown which
- 1:54:22they were struggling with at 1st until Zoe started drooling over
- 1:54:25a poster of mystery and Mira had to go over there and tear it
- 1:54:29down saying they won't be able to concentrate until they take
- 1:54:32them down. Like they're going to take down
- 1:54:34these boys. So then the phrase sparks
- 1:54:36inspiration and roomie and they got their title of the song and
- 1:54:39start writing the lyrics. And in the montage you can see
- 1:54:42like they're fighting the demons still working on the song.
- 1:54:45There's a part where like Mira throws a demon and it makes a
- 1:54:48specific beat to where like she liked for the song.
- 1:54:51We also see them having a back and forth during music shows of
- 1:54:55like massage, the boys winning for pop and then the girls
- 1:54:58waiting for Golden. So they're basically neck to
- 1:55:00neck when it comes to like the charts and everything.
- 1:55:03And then we also see due to Rumi having her chat with Gino, that
- 1:55:07she's starting to kind of build empathy for the demons.
- 1:55:11There's even one point where like, she traps a demon, but
- 1:55:14she's like whispering to him, like, are you OK?
- 1:55:16Like, are you being controlled by Guima?
- 1:55:18Until Mira came in and like killed it.
- 1:55:20And he's like, were you just talking to the demon?
- 1:55:22And she's like, no, I think you're just imagining things.
- 1:55:25Or I don't remember the exact excuse that she came up with.
- 1:55:29And then at the same time, too, the Sasha boys are also taking
- 1:55:31over the city. And then we see parts where like
- 1:55:34first on a billboard is the hunt tricks and then they get
- 1:55:36replaced with Sasha boys. So then the Huntrix has a fan
- 1:55:40meaning and the Sasha boys crash it, which leads the two groups
- 1:55:44is doing a joint fan sign. And again, that was another
- 1:55:47point of me saying oh, so this is also the fiction part because
- 1:55:51never that would never happen. Twitter would be on fire if that
- 1:55:58ever happened. It'd be so, I don't know, I feel
- 1:56:02like. Would you like to see that
- 1:56:04though? If they're from the same company
- 1:56:06like I wouldn't mind. Why not?
- 1:56:08Like I honestly same here like I wouldn't mind like let's say BTS
- 1:56:13and TXT because they always reference TXT as like like their
- 1:56:17little brothers you know what I mean?
- 1:56:19Like I wouldn't mind. Like boy groups, though it's
- 1:56:21different when it's a boy group and a girl group.
- 1:56:24Knowing yes, the current atmosphere is the one.
- 1:56:29That's pairs the. Seraphim.
- 1:56:32Yeah, they're what I yeah, no, it's fine.
- 1:56:36They're Seraphim, aren't they? Yeah, they're, yes.
- 1:56:39Right. I don't know.
- 1:56:40I mean, I think the closest thing that we're seeing when it
- 1:56:43comes to crisscross and and even crisscrossing companies is the
- 1:56:48challenges that get that get done.
- 1:56:51Yes, which I think helped bring back the interaction of boys and
- 1:56:55girls again, interacting and seeing like, hey, this is
- 1:56:59normal. Like, you don't have to always
- 1:57:01start rumors, even though we're going to talk about that in a
- 1:57:04second. Or just like be like she can't
- 1:57:07be next to my idol and vice versa.
- 1:57:10Because unfortunately this propaganda of like, promoting
- 1:57:14these idols as like their fans significant other in the mess
- 1:57:17that's been. So yeah, this was definitely
- 1:57:20more of a Western fig as far as the fan meet in a joint fan
- 1:57:24meet. Yeah.
- 1:57:26And the other thing too, it's like also the collaborations
- 1:57:31that are happening between companies.
- 1:57:33So that way it's like, yes, we're from different companies,
- 1:57:35but you don't have to. One's better than the other type
- 1:57:40of thing. Kind of like with Hobie and Son.
- 1:57:44Yeah, but I don't know because that's the way they compete too,
- 1:57:47which is a whole different topic that we don't have time for.
- 1:57:52But I mean, there was also rumors too that that scene was
- 1:57:54supposed to be basically them doing their own version of like
- 1:57:58the Isaac, which I don't remember the exact acronym for,
- 1:58:02but it's like a thing they used to do, which I think they're
- 1:58:04bringing back of like idols from all of these different
- 1:58:07companies, like you just said, performing and like what we
- 1:58:10considered like Olympic type game.
- 1:58:13I don't remember the actual acronym, but that's what eyes.
- 1:58:15I don't know if you've ever seen idols doing Isaac.
- 1:58:18Like there's a lot of clips of like BTS doing it.
- 1:58:20Like there's some scenes where like you keep participated in,
- 1:58:23like the basketball tournament. There's a very famous clip of
- 1:58:27John Cook, two of them when they were doing a relay and he
- 1:58:30surpassed everyone because they didn't believe like he was going
- 1:58:33to make it. BTS one.
- 1:58:34And then there's another one where they're doing a form of
- 1:58:38wrestling. To kind of get back at the
- 1:58:40group. Yeah, yeah, I've seen those.
- 1:58:42That's from the Isaac. Thing.
- 1:58:45I feel like they have those for like when they're first debuting
- 1:58:48type thing, like they're older, like they're earlier.
- 1:58:53No, I mean, BTS did it all the way up until, I want to say
- 1:58:56until they started getting big in the States.
- 1:58:58Like they at least did it up until either Part 1 or Part 2 of
- 1:59:01HYYH. Oh, OK.
- 1:59:04And other groups too, like twice has done it.
- 1:59:07Like yeah. I feel like another one is
- 1:59:12Kingdom. Forgot what the name of the
- 1:59:17actual show is. I know it had more in there but
- 1:59:22they actually like perform and sing and it it's like from
- 1:59:28different groups. But that's a competition show
- 1:59:33though, where I don't know if they really won anything with
- 1:59:37the Isaac. It was more for like it was more
- 1:59:40for fun and like almost fan servicy and then like seeing
- 1:59:44other again idols from different groups like I mean you.
- 1:59:47Can't tell me that wasn't competition too though because.
- 1:59:50I don't think they want anything like they were supposed to win
- 1:59:53and the Kingdom show that you're talking about, OK, different,
- 1:59:59different type of stakes, if that makes sense.
- 2:00:01Yeah, I don't know, the Kingdom one seems kind of cool only
- 2:00:05because like all the groups get basically not necessarily pulled
- 2:00:08apart, but each member goes into a different one and another
- 2:00:12group is created by different members of.
- 2:00:15Oh, so no, you're not talking about Kingdom.
- 2:00:17We're talking about completely different shows.
- 2:00:18You're talking about the Purdue shows like produce one-on-one
- 2:00:21and all that. I think it's been renamed a
- 2:00:23couple times, but you're talking about groups that has like
- 2:00:26created Kepler or like created zero base one right now, things
- 2:00:30like that. They don't create a group.
- 2:00:34So like I know Stray Kids and 80s I think it was I can't
- 2:00:43remember. Who from a TS, Yes.
- 2:00:46No, but that they weren't, they didn't create a group that was
- 2:00:49just a segment of the entire show.
- 2:00:52But they were still competing as a TS.
- 2:00:54They were still competing as Stray Kids, things like that.
- 2:00:57That wasn't the premise of like matching them.
- 2:01:00You're only talking about specific challenge that they
- 2:01:02did. I watched that, so I know what
- 2:01:04you're talking about. And yeah, OK, so it's it's still
- 2:01:08different. Yeah.
- 2:01:11Because when they won, they won as their representative group
- 2:01:14that's already there. So like I know the road to
- 2:01:16Kingdom, the boys had won at that time and that led them to
- 2:01:20be on Kingdom with Stray Kids with a TS with I think B2B also
- 2:01:25and whoever won from that, which I think was Stray Kids, yes.
- 2:01:29OK, OK. Because at first you were
- 2:01:31explaining produce, which is when they take either people
- 2:01:36from already established smaller groups or trainees to form a
- 2:01:40whole new group. That wasn't what Kingdom was.
- 2:01:46OK, I didn't realize the Kingdom was an entire air competition,
- 2:01:50so OK, that makes more sense now, Yes and then?
- 2:01:56I don't know if it's still going on or not.
- 2:01:58I feel like they had another season but this was more the
- 2:02:03Isaac is more different because again it's like I feel like it
- 2:02:06was just more chill and laid back just to watch like idols
- 2:02:09basically play games and just an Olympic style.
- 2:02:12They were like competing but like not really competing.
- 2:02:14Again, that was before I really got into K pop so I don't know
- 2:02:17if like winning groups actually won anything or not.
- 2:02:23OK. Yeah, so that's what I mean, but
- 2:02:28they ended up taking it out because as we're discussing too,
- 2:02:32not many people actually know what that was.
- 2:02:34So the producers didn't think it.
- 2:02:37They asked them to change it. Yeah, because they didn't think
- 2:02:40many people would understand that part of like the K pop
- 2:02:43culture. So that's why it ended up being
- 2:02:45a Co Ed joint fan meet in their eyes.
- 2:02:50That's more realistic, quote UN quote.
- 2:02:52OK, yeah, also it's just interesting and funny of, like,
- 2:02:58Rumi and Gina whispering to each other that doesn't cost more
- 2:03:02chaos between the fans, but like, they're actually enjoying
- 2:03:06it and shipping them. And then with the one fan who
- 2:03:08comes up, like, are you guys whispering to each other?
- 2:03:10It's OK, your secret is safe with me thinking they're like,
- 2:03:13dating. And then she reveals she has a
- 2:03:15shirt on with the ship name Rujinu.
- 2:03:19I think that's how you pronounce it, Ru.
- 2:03:23Ruchi no Ruchi. That's their ship name.
- 2:03:27And then Zoe has one with mystery called Zoistery.
- 2:03:31And then I was very interested by like, OK, so we're we're
- 2:03:35propping up Polly relationships because they ship mirror with
- 2:03:38Abby and romance the mirror Mabi.
- 2:03:45OK, team one for Polly relationships.
- 2:03:49Let's go progressive, my eyes that is.
- 2:03:53So of course, continuing with her whispering, Ginu and Rumi
- 2:03:57get into it. He tells her he's only doing
- 2:04:00this to get the memories and the voices out of his head.
- 2:04:03And Rumi talks about how she's doing this because she hates her
- 2:04:06marks, demons, and Guima. And then the very important
- 2:04:09thing Regina brings up that if hate could defeat Guima, he
- 2:04:14would have been able to defeat him a long time ago.
- 2:04:17So I feel like many people also kind of skipped in a sense, yes,
- 2:04:23because it kind of goes into the whole theming of this movie.
- 2:04:27And then we get a little girl interrupting them and gives Genu
- 2:04:29fan art where it says he has a beautiful soul.
- 2:04:33And then you can kind of see the conflict that he's having with
- 2:04:36him himself. I'm since discovering where
- 2:04:38Mia's part demon continues to grow.
- 2:04:41So they're both, you know, going through internal battles with
- 2:04:43themselves. Words of hating demons and Guima
- 2:04:47also get to Rumi as she's going over the song and starts
- 2:04:51crossing out some lyrics and starting to feel a different
- 2:04:53way. There's certain parts she Can't
- 2:04:55Sing. Mirror comes into her room
- 2:04:57because she hears Rumi singing and confronts her on her
- 2:05:00abnormal behavior. When it comes to how she seems
- 2:05:03to show like, I'm not sure if sympathy or empathy is the right
- 2:05:07word, but one of those two towards the demons and changing
- 2:05:10the lyrics to the new songs. And you know, of course Rumi's
- 2:05:13able to cover it up and convince her nothing's wrong and she's
- 2:05:16imagining things. And the mirror ends up blaming
- 2:05:18it on her being anxious on winning the idol war so they can
- 2:05:22finally complete the hormone, which is the thing that's kind
- 2:05:24of also honestly really looming over their head of like, OK, we
- 2:05:28have to make sure we find the perfect song in order to
- 2:05:32completely seal the whole moon. Yeah.
- 2:05:35And even during all this, the Saja boys continue to grow in
- 2:05:38popularity, making it easier for the demons to take their souls
- 2:05:41back to Guima so he can feed. And we see, like, a small little
- 2:05:46thing of, like, how many humans are starting to be reported as
- 2:05:49missing. Rumi meets up with Ginu again
- 2:05:52and she tells him she has her own plan to basically free him
- 2:05:57of everything. She tells him that if he helps
- 2:05:59the Huntrix win the idol awards, he should be able to stay in the
- 2:06:02human world while they seal the Han moon and he'll finally be
- 2:06:06free. He does question her on how does
- 2:06:10she know that this plan will work?
- 2:06:12And she basically is like, I don't know, but like I have to
- 2:06:15have hope because if there's no hope in saving him, how could
- 2:06:18she save herself? Herself.
- 2:06:21Yeah, SO also died at the scene. When they're kind of bickering,
- 2:06:27the old woman comes up to them and offers a bracelet to them
- 2:06:31and he's like, give it to your girlfriend.
- 2:06:33And they start being like we're not dating.
- 2:06:36And he's like, she's not even my type.
- 2:06:38And that's really gets Rumi like angry.
- 2:06:40She's like I have everybody's type what are you talking about?
- 2:06:43But I love love and I'm like this what we need to see more
- 2:06:46of, especially from older generation where she gives the
- 2:06:49bracelet to Rumi and she's like, go find a better boyfriend.
- 2:06:52This ones hopeless. Like I just love that especially
- 2:06:56and just especially I feel like minority cultures, especially in
- 2:06:59America where, you know, we're taught to always like find a man
- 2:07:03and you know, settle and all that.
- 2:07:05So it was just nice to see something different, especially
- 2:07:07from someone older where it's like, don't settle.
- 2:07:10And GAIL, if he's causing you this much stress, go find
- 2:07:13someone who will take care of you.
- 2:07:14So. Exactly.
- 2:07:15I just love that part. And then of course after that,
- 2:07:20because I know Ginu made a comma where he's like, see, I am
- 2:07:23hopeless so. I am hopeless.
- 2:07:26But he does tell Rumi before they awkwardly leave is that he
- 2:07:30doesn't think she's a mistake, which is something Rumi keeps
- 2:07:33saying a lot, that she's a mistake and she shouldn't be
- 2:07:37there. It's funny how he takes the
- 2:07:39bracelet too. Yeah, I was like, because we
- 2:07:42also got the K drama scene of him grabbing onto her wrist
- 2:07:46because he doesn't want her to go.
- 2:07:48And I think that was an excuse like, oh, I just, I wanted the
- 2:07:51bracelet, but she gave it to Rumi.
- 2:07:53Why do you want the bracelet, Sir?
- 2:07:55Anyways. Exactly, you just said you were
- 2:07:59hopeless. During the rehearsal of
- 2:08:01Takedown, Rumi is struggling and she stops, saying she Can't Sing
- 2:08:03the song because it doesn't feel right, which leaves the girls to
- 2:08:06start fighting. But they don't have time since
- 2:08:09the whole moon let's them know that there are demons among
- 2:08:13them. So they actually run out and
- 2:08:15start battling them on a train while Mira and Rumi have a fight
- 2:08:19among themselves as well with Mira asking why she's acting
- 2:08:23weird and what she's hiding, telling Rumi that if she's one
- 2:08:27of them to, you know, prove it while they're fighting.
- 2:08:30So while they're battling the demons, they are singing the
- 2:08:32song takedown. However, during their fight
- 2:08:35again, Rumi is just struggling to sing the song and she like
- 2:08:38stumbles over like basically the parts where it says like demons
- 2:08:42don't deserve a live and everything and it ends up
- 2:08:46messing them up. The demons become successful and
- 2:08:49takes all these people from the train.
- 2:08:51Stakes are high and Mira tells her whatever she's going through
- 2:08:55to push past it because there's just too much going on right now
- 2:08:59and they have to complete sealing the hormone.
- 2:09:02Rumi and Ginu meets up again and she acts as him if he's up for
- 2:09:06the plan but he has doubts it will work.
- 2:09:09Then she finally actually does open up about her shame to him.
- 2:09:12Talks about the more she tries to hide who she is, which is,
- 2:09:15you know, the part demon and her, the more the shame grew.
- 2:09:18Which makes sense because again, when she was a kid, it was just
- 2:09:21on her shoulder. So it's just been festering and
- 2:09:24building as she's gotten older and until they took the one
- 2:09:27thing she relied on to be a hunter, which is her voice.
- 2:09:30That's when things started changing for her.
- 2:09:33However, after she met Gino and she doesn't understand, but for
- 2:09:38some reason, every time she talks to him, the more she talks
- 2:09:41to him, her voice started healing once again.
- 2:09:44And then we get our beautiful ballad and SOG free.
- 2:09:49And I just love watching that every single time I've watched
- 2:09:52this movie. And then after the song, Gino
- 2:09:55says he couldn't hear Guima anymore and agrees to help Rumi
- 2:09:58defeat the Saja boys. But then things quickly turn
- 2:10:01when Guima brings Gino down to the underworld, reminding him of
- 2:10:05his place. Saying you thought you could get
- 2:10:08rid of me. This girl's plan won't work.
- 2:10:11Remember, I'm the only one who can either increase the noises
- 2:10:14or take them away fully. So in the morning, the girls
- 2:10:19have a sit down going over the idol awards and they all come to
- 2:10:22an agreement that takedown isn't the appropriate song to perform
- 2:10:25just because one, it wouldn't connect them with the fans, but
- 2:10:28it already is making them disconnect as a group.
- 2:10:32And that's when they slightly start opening up to each other
- 2:10:35about, you know, their insecurities and, like, fears
- 2:10:38of, like, being together or like not being together and like how
- 2:10:43being hunters has helped them and change their mindset on a
- 2:10:46lot of things. So they end up agreeing that
- 2:10:49Golden is the song that they should perform.
- 2:10:52And Rumi even promises to go to the bath house with them once
- 2:10:55they win and seal the Hong Moon because again, we're still
- 2:10:59believing that her marks will go away once they turn it gold and
- 2:11:02seal the demons away forever. Now once we actually get to the
- 2:11:07scene where the Idol awards are happening, the Saja boys are
- 2:11:10supposed to perform, but they get into a quote UN quote fight
- 2:11:13and the Huntricks are up next. I kind of wish that they would
- 2:11:17have shown that little fight scene with the Saja boys.
- 2:11:22Were they technically fighting? That's why I put it in quotes
- 2:11:25because I feel like that was just, you know, a cop out for
- 2:11:28what's about to happen next. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 2:11:33So that's probably why I wouldn't see them actually fight
- 2:11:35because there wasn't actually a fight going on.
- 2:11:39So and then this is what I talked about earlier, like when
- 2:11:41they are about to head to the stage and they come out the
- 2:11:43dressing room, you know, we get a cameo some K pop groups on the
- 2:11:47wall. So like we see twice and then we
- 2:11:49see Meow in the back. And then even when I first
- 2:11:51watched this, I was confused why Meowv was there because I was
- 2:11:54like, aren't they a newish group?
- 2:11:55But now that I know the Black Label helped produce on the
- 2:11:57soundtrack, it makes more sense why there's a picture of them on
- 2:12:00there for promotions. So all right, so they start
- 2:12:04performing golden and everything is going great, and then they
- 2:12:07see glimmers of the whole moon turning gold, especially roomy
- 2:12:11when she has her solo part and is, you know, up in the sky
- 2:12:13swinging around the audience. During her solo part, though,
- 2:12:17Zoe and Mira go off stage briefly, but they see Bobby
- 2:12:20getting kidnapped by people and they run over to rescue him.
- 2:12:24So when they do actually reach him, they realize they've been
- 2:12:26tricked by demons and more demons actually disguise
- 2:12:30themselves as mirror and Zoe and go on stage.
- 2:12:33So when that happens, all of a sudden the music changes from
- 2:12:37golden to takedown in the fake mirror and Zoe start pushing
- 2:12:41groomie around, RIP off her jacket to expose her marks.
- 2:12:44And I will also say it was it shows the professionalism
- 2:12:48because like when groomie was like sitting standing there,
- 2:12:51like they put takedown back into like the setlist and how she
- 2:12:55immediately just like got into motion when she did.
- 2:13:01What happened? That's what happens with K Pop
- 2:13:03idols too. As soon as something happens,
- 2:13:06you know, they'll go straight into like, all right, you know,
- 2:13:09focus mode. This is what we're doing next.
- 2:13:12Yep, it's a good professionalism.
- 2:13:15They did really good. So during the time they reveal
- 2:13:19her marks, you know the fake mirror and Zoe start whispering
- 2:13:23in her ear that she's a mistake, she wasn't meant to be there.
- 2:13:25So basically trying to get in Rumi's head and psych her out.
- 2:13:29So she ends up, you know, screaming out which destroys the
- 2:13:34stage and everything turns black due to her demon voice.
- 2:13:38And when she comes off the stage, the real Mirror and Zoe
- 2:13:42are there and they see Rumi, and unfortunately the marks have
- 2:13:45grown a lot more, so they're now on her face, all of her stomach,
- 2:13:48her legs, revealing them, and one of her eyes is also yellow.
- 2:13:53They're shocked, they're hurt, feel betrayed by all her lies.
- 2:13:57Mirror kept saying that she knew something was going on, she was
- 2:14:00hiding something from them and she should have known.
- 2:14:03And the room is trying to convince them that it's still
- 2:14:05her and they can fix it once they turn the whole moon gold.
- 2:14:10But then even Zoe was like how can we tell your lies from your
- 2:14:14truth? And then there's a point where
- 2:14:16it gets really hostile where they even hold up their weapons
- 2:14:19to Rumi causing her to run off. So then Rumi starts to lookout
- 2:14:23for Ginu when she confronts him and asking if he causes and that
- 2:14:28she thought they had something real.
- 2:14:30And then he actually comes out telling her the truth and told
- 2:14:32Rumi that he lied to her about his past.
- 2:14:35He actually left his mother and little sister behind so he can
- 2:14:39sleep in the silk sheets and perform in the palace, you know
- 2:14:42eat till his belly's full and so he left them in the cold to die.
- 2:14:46So that's his biggest regret and his shame was leaving them
- 2:14:49behind. And then of course just telling
- 2:14:52Rumi that she's a demon like him and all they deserve is to live
- 2:14:55with their misery and pain. And I'll say it now which what I
- 2:14:59mentioned earlier is like after watching this a couple times I
- 2:15:02should have known he was lying. I always I already thought it
- 2:15:05was weird but it's like one thing I don't know if people
- 2:15:09picked up on but every time Ginu talks about the marks he always
- 2:15:12talks about how they are meant to remind them of their shame
- 2:15:17and regret. So why would he have the marks
- 2:15:20if his family did end up going in the palace and living a
- 2:15:24lavish life? Now I could see people
- 2:15:26interpreting that at first of like just making a deal with the
- 2:15:29devil in general and that's his price he paid with the devil.
- 2:15:32But the way he keeps marking about how they're shamed, he
- 2:15:35wouldn't get the marks if he didn't feel shameful.
- 2:15:38Usually you don't feel shameful if you ended up succeeding and
- 2:15:42your goal, you know what I mean? But it depends on how you also
- 2:15:45get how you got that success though.
- 2:15:47Did you get that success organically by working hard, or
- 2:15:52did you get that success because you decided to make a deal with
- 2:15:55the the devil or a demon, whichever.
- 2:15:58I mean, true, I can see you like that too.
- 2:16:00Because then, essentially, you're lying.
- 2:16:03You're not only lying to yourself, but you're lying to
- 2:16:05everyone else. Because everyone else is seeing
- 2:16:07you as this big star. But in reality, you doubt your
- 2:16:12talents because you didn't get there naturally.
- 2:16:16But I mean in today's world. No, I mean again, you have to
- 2:16:20remember this was 400. Years ago, OK, yes it was and.
- 2:16:25People. Period.
- 2:16:26Yeah, and people were pointing out too, which I didn't even
- 2:16:29think of. It's like either way, like you
- 2:16:32can. This was when we know like we
- 2:16:35bought had trick Jinu because he never would have been able to
- 2:16:38bring his mother and sister to the palace.
- 2:16:40Like usually in cases like that, especially back then from where
- 2:16:45he's from his time period, like he would have had to let leave
- 2:16:48them regardless. So it's like and like you can
- 2:16:51even tell when you watch it a million times like I do like he
- 2:16:55has a look of confusion when they turn his mom and sister
- 2:16:58away, like he didn't know he couldn't bring them.
- 2:17:01So I'm sure that also adds to the shame, like promising them
- 2:17:04they would have this, that and the third and then getting there
- 2:17:07and they get turned away. Which is what happened.
- 2:17:10Deals, at least from what you know, gets portrayed right in
- 2:17:14books and in media and things like that where you can make a
- 2:17:18deal, but you also have to be careful because you don't know
- 2:17:23exactly how you're going to get that deal.
- 2:17:25You have this thought of like, oh, I get to bring my mother and
- 2:17:28sister with me. But then reality is, no, you
- 2:17:31can't. You're only saving yourself.
- 2:17:33Which again, I feel like the shame gets put on you because
- 2:17:38all of a sudden you made this deal that you thought would help
- 2:17:42not only yourself, but the people you love.
- 2:17:45And then it turns out that that deal was only made to help you.
- 2:17:49So I don't know, it's just a lot of layers get added to that.
- 2:17:53Very layered, very weird. But after that we see the
- 2:17:57hormone basically dissolving. And then also Bobby's watching
- 2:18:02the hunt tricks like literally free fall from the charts.
- 2:18:05That's when the announcer is telling them whole city about
- 2:18:09the hundreds breakup, their public breakup, and also
- 2:18:12announcing the winner for the Idol Awards, which is basically
- 2:18:15Saja Boys. They're sweeping all the awards.
- 2:18:18We don't know about any other groups, but it doesn't matter.
- 2:18:21And then all of a sudden the Saja Boys appear and they
- 2:18:24announce they're holding a free concert for everyone.
- 2:18:27But obviously it's a way for Guima to collect all these
- 2:18:30souls. And another thing to Guima,
- 2:18:33because of the Hanmu is dissolving, it's easier for him
- 2:18:36to whisper to all the humans. So like we see him whispering
- 2:18:39Tamira about like how she thought she found a family but
- 2:18:42she really didn't. Zoe's insecurities of like being
- 2:18:45too much but not enough. He even got into Bobby's head
- 2:18:48about like not being able to protect the girls to lure them
- 2:18:52into this concert hall so he can take everybody's soul.
- 2:18:55Then we get Celine at the sacred tree and she senses a present
- 2:18:59approach her. So when she turns around and
- 2:19:02reveals Roomy and the marks are basically taking over her body,
- 2:19:06half her body's covered with the Marks and red again, one of her
- 2:19:10eyes is yellow. I think even one of her hands
- 2:19:12was starting to turn like spiky and demon like.
- 2:19:16So when she confronts Celine, she tells her that, you know,
- 2:19:20the others found out about her being part demon, that it's
- 2:19:22over. They are they know it's in
- 2:19:25despair saying that she thought she can fix it all herself, but
- 2:19:29she ran out of time. And then that Celine knew that
- 2:19:32she was always a mistake. And she basically acts as Celine
- 2:19:35to like do what she should have done when she was younger and
- 2:19:38kill her. Now this part was interesting
- 2:19:41because obviously Celine can't do it because she keeps talking
- 2:19:45about Rumi's mother. And that would be a bond.
- 2:19:48I would love if they have a chance to like get more into
- 2:19:52because obviously Celine had deep, you know, feelings for her
- 2:19:55mother as far as like, that's my sister, that's my group mate,
- 2:19:58that's my partner when it comes to hunting and all that.
- 2:20:01So like when she died, she swore to protect anything and
- 2:20:05everything that was left of her, but she just didn't.
- 2:20:07Realize it would be Rumi and the way it's so backhanded where
- 2:20:13she's like she never thought it'd be a child like her.
- 2:20:18She also tells Rumi that everything she was taught and
- 2:20:22everything that she was taught was wrong but she made a promise
- 2:20:26and she did her best to protect and accept Rumi.
- 2:20:30The part got me is when she said did her best.
- 2:20:33I'm like, no, no, you didn't. You covered it up, you try to
- 2:20:36cover it up and on top of that, she.
- 2:20:38Didn't do a good job of covering it up.
- 2:20:40Well, that too. But here's the thing too, and
- 2:20:42that's that's my one thing about this whole entire situation is
- 2:20:45that, and this is where I mean that if people were to pay
- 2:20:51attention to this movie and how deep it actually goes down to
- 2:20:56because if you really think about it, Rumi's shame isn't
- 2:20:59even her own. That's Celine's because if you
- 2:21:03think about it, Celine should have killed her.
- 2:21:05She went against everything she believed and was taught for
- 2:21:09however long she was a hunter to raise and protect Rumi, quote UN
- 2:21:14quote to her best ability, right?
- 2:21:18So technically she, and that's where it comes to like this
- 2:21:23generational cycle that a lot of people nowadays try to break is
- 2:21:28she gave her that shame. It was never roomies to begin
- 2:21:32with. It's like, what was the point of
- 2:21:34some having we ma in your ear if you already have someone who's
- 2:21:37supposed to quote UN quote love and protect?
- 2:21:39You. Literally with me the same
- 2:21:40things we Ma would have been telling her.
- 2:21:43Exactly. It's like one of those things
- 2:21:46where it's like, what is the quote?
- 2:21:49Something about like, sometimes how?
- 2:21:50Like, why even have enemies when you be having friends like that?
- 2:21:54I don't remember the example. Yeah.
- 2:21:57Or family. I know what you're talking
- 2:21:58about. Yeah, Yeah.
- 2:22:00And like even looking at it as a like, well, not immigrant, but I
- 2:22:04guess like, again, a minority and like places you grow up in
- 2:22:07where you're not the majority. I also saw it from like that
- 2:22:10perspective of like, I feel actually represents that
- 2:22:14generation, whether they immigrated or like the times
- 2:22:17that they grew up, where like they're teaching their children
- 2:22:20to assimilate. So I can see that.
- 2:22:24Yeah. Like, don't break the status
- 2:22:26quo. Make sure you're always like, I
- 2:22:29know a lot of Asian Americans too on TikTok have actually came
- 2:22:32out and like talked about that too in that specific theming,
- 2:22:34especially for them specifically of like why we don't see them
- 2:22:39usually talk about a lot of things happening in the world
- 2:22:42unless it has to deal with like the Asian American diaspora, I'm
- 2:22:45not going to talk about it. That's their experience.
- 2:22:47But I've been seeing, you know, talking points on that, which
- 2:22:50you can see in this as well. So I can do yes.
- 2:22:56But in this movie. There is, but I mean, thankfully
- 2:22:59Rumi did get into that ass because she's like accept me.
- 2:23:02That triggered her and she's like, you told me to cover up
- 2:23:06and hide. Like don't be myself.
- 2:23:09Like I can't share another part of me that I can't get rid of
- 2:23:12that I was born with. I also, I know I was telling
- 2:23:15Gina too. I thought of that like
- 2:23:17especially if you think of the history like as a black person
- 2:23:20of like mixed race people, or like if they were able to pass
- 2:23:24off as white and like how they had to hide, like they were part
- 2:23:27blacker things of that nature. So I could see it for that as
- 2:23:31well. For me personally, I'm not
- 2:23:34mixed, but it's being a black person, you know, the history
- 2:23:37and all that. But Celine is still going on,
- 2:23:39you know, saying that she only did that until they were able to
- 2:23:42fix everything. She'll tell Mira and Zoe that it
- 2:23:45was all a lie and an illusion that Guima created to break them
- 2:23:48up. But when Rumi says like you know
- 2:23:50no more, you can see like she actually does scare Celine
- 2:23:54because that's what she was afraid of her like showing her
- 2:23:56demon side. Can't even look at Rumi when
- 2:23:59like she axes and basically begs and please like why couldn't you
- 2:24:03love her and like not just her, but like all of her because when
- 2:24:06she's like, I did love you, she's like, no, you didn't love
- 2:24:09all of me. Shakes up the whole moon.
- 2:24:12And then Celine starts going to a spat of like This is why they
- 2:24:14must hide and like not show their faults and fears in order
- 2:24:18to protect the Hong Moon. And then Mumi says like if this
- 2:24:22is the Hong Moon she's supposed to protect, she's glad it's
- 2:24:24being destroyed. And then she uses her actual
- 2:24:26demon powers to teleport away. Yep, and I did.
- 2:24:30Also see a very interesting talking point online by some
- 2:24:34people, like maybe Celine was harping on this so much because
- 2:24:37as we do see, Huima not only has control of demons, but he also
- 2:24:41has control of the humans. Again, that's how he got Ginu.
- 2:24:44That's I'm sure how he got a lot of people and took their souls
- 2:24:47and made them demons. So it's like, I do wonder if
- 2:24:50part of that freaking out was so Guima wouldn't get into their
- 2:24:54heads in order so they won't control them.
- 2:24:58Yeah well I mean again, cuz he tends to like lean on like like
- 2:25:03mistakes in a way. So like I feel like the demon
- 2:25:08hunters in in some shape or form, they have to be perfect.
- 2:25:12They can't have any issues, They can't have any shame, they can't
- 2:25:15have any nothing. They basically have to be
- 2:25:18perfect in order to be what they are.
- 2:25:21Quote UN quote, like what they're supposed to be.
- 2:25:23Yeah, which I mean, again, that ties perfectly for making them
- 2:25:27idols because it's the same thing with idols.
- 2:25:32So the Saja boys are dressed as their true selves with Guima.
- 2:25:35And, you know, he's all behind them.
- 2:25:37He's huge now he's able to get into the human world and
- 2:25:42basically a bunch of other demons there as well.
- 2:25:45At the venue, the crowd is, like, constantly being, you
- 2:25:48know, seduced by the Saja boys. They're chanting for them and
- 2:25:52waiting for them until they start forming the song Your
- 2:25:54idol. People start being lured into
- 2:25:57the fire, which is Guima. The song is working to possess
- 2:26:01them until once they're done they hear the voice of Rumi
- 2:26:04singing and then like it's really cool to make sure of her
- 2:26:07voice and the demon voice. She starts saying the Hunter's
- 2:26:10chant that she was always taught about The We are hunters voice
- 2:26:14is strong slang. Demons with their songs fix the
- 2:26:17world and make it right when darkness finally meets the
- 2:26:20light. So then there is a part where
- 2:26:22Kwima kind of taunts her about that and her insecurities from
- 2:26:25that saying and like saying she's exposed by everybody of
- 2:26:30who she really is and like, yeah, she's agreeing and
- 2:26:32everything. And then when he mentions that
- 2:26:34the whole moon is gone and that she failed, it's like, yes, but
- 2:26:37that means we can create a new one.
- 2:26:40So then that's when we start getting the song This is what it
- 2:26:43sounds like, where they basically start embracing
- 2:26:45themselves, talking about how hiding themselves and
- 2:26:48insecurities has failed, and she's becoming stronger by
- 2:26:52telling her truth, which brings the members together to where
- 2:26:56they can finally fight off Guima and the rest of the demons.
- 2:27:01So in order to stop them, he ends up trying to basically
- 2:27:06incinerate her with his fire. And there's a point where she's
- 2:27:11pushing back, and we think that she ended up stopping it.
- 2:27:15But then who do we see blocking the fire?
- 2:27:19Gino which means he is sacrificing himself in order to
- 2:27:26save her. Paul she's apologizing, saying
- 2:27:30she wanted to free him. And then he's like you did and
- 2:27:35thanking her. And it's like, I will give my
- 2:27:39soul to you. Listen, I don't remember the
- 2:27:41exact quote. What do you mean my soul back?
- 2:27:44Yes, you gave me my soul back and now I'm giving it to you.
- 2:27:48That's what it was. Thank you Llama.
- 2:27:50Which does help because then we start getting the souls of
- 2:27:53everyone else. Even when Gino gave her his
- 2:27:58soul, you can tell it increased her powers because she was able
- 2:28:01to get a hit into Guima that actually hurt him.
- 2:28:04So then we continue with the song, collecting everyone else's
- 2:28:07souls, singing along with them, killing the other saja boys.
- 2:28:11And then once they hover over Guima, once they finish the
- 2:28:15song, a brand new Hong Moon is created and they defeated the
- 2:28:21demon King. And it's different because their
- 2:28:23whole goal was to turn it gold. However, this new Hong moon is
- 2:28:27kind of like a rainbow color. And then finally towards the
- 2:28:32end, we get Roomie going to a bath house with Zoe and Mira.
- 2:28:36And it's different because now she's actually showing herself.
- 2:28:38Even her marks are different. They're not that dark of
- 2:28:41depressing color, the purple color anymore.
- 2:28:43They're actually the same color as the Han moon.
- 2:28:46So. And even on her skin, like
- 2:28:47unless she's in the light, you can tell it's kind of like they
- 2:28:50just look like white scarring. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:28:53But like there's certain parts where I like how they did in the
- 2:28:56animation. If she is in certain lighting,
- 2:28:58it does look like the rainbow color that is in the home, Yeah.
- 2:29:01Yeah, I noticed that too. Yeah, so once they're done and
- 2:29:04then they apologize to each other in the bath house, saying
- 2:29:06how much they love each other. They are more excited because
- 2:29:10it's break time, they did their job and it's couch time, Couch,
- 2:29:14couch, couch. But then they see three young
- 2:29:17girls wearing their merch and then they're like, even though
- 2:29:20they want to take a break, the reason they do this is for the
- 2:29:22fans. So then they end up going to the
- 2:29:24girls to say hi and start signing merch.
- 2:29:27And then we ended there with the Billboard already of them taking
- 2:29:32new picture with Rumi, showing, you know, her marks on the
- 2:29:35picture, seeing Derpy and Sussy. And then we get the end credits
- 2:29:40of Twice singing Cake Down. That is the movie.
- 2:29:44Yay, we defeated Guima, now feel the honeymoon.
- 2:29:51Exactly Before we go quickly, Gina's death because that's the
- 2:29:57hottest topic that's going on online right now.
- 2:30:00La La your thoughts series on his death.
- 2:30:02Do you want to see him back? All that good stuff Yes.
- 2:30:08Also I want to confirm for you too.
- 2:30:10In that same Reddit, Q and AI know privately you were like
- 2:30:13well what happened to baby and romance?
- 2:30:17Because you didn't see them get killed.
- 2:30:18It is implied that Mira and Zoe did kill them, so yeah.
- 2:30:22I kind of figured that they just, yeah, they just didn't
- 2:30:24have it on on the screens. But I know that that was
- 2:30:27something that a lot of fans were like talking about and
- 2:30:30stuff like that. But we know at the end of the
- 2:30:33day, there were demons. A First off, they were already
- 2:30:35dead, for crying out loud. Gino was 400 years old.
- 2:30:38Like he. And we don't even know how long
- 2:30:40the other Saja boys like, if they were longer than Gino like.
- 2:30:44Yeah. And then other stories you also
- 2:30:46have to think like, how do you pronounce it again?
- 2:30:49Guinwa, Guinma, Guinma. Like at the end of the day, he
- 2:30:54controlled them like they had the bodies that they had.
- 2:30:57And he even said it like in the beginning when Jinu was like
- 2:31:02mocking him doing the song and introducing the fact, oh, we'll,
- 2:31:05you know, become a a demon boy band or whatever.
- 2:31:08Guinwa even said I let you keep that voice so it wasn't they're
- 2:31:14not alive. Like as soon as his soul,
- 2:31:17because his soul did get released, his soul did become
- 2:31:20free and he was able to give it up.
- 2:31:23That was it. That's all he is, is just a
- 2:31:25soul. He's not an actual body.
- 2:31:28So yes, I understand that everyone's like, I want Genu
- 2:31:31back for SQL 2 and like, yes, in a way I part of part of me does
- 2:31:37too, but I also understand it. That's not gonna happen.
- 2:31:41There's no way. There's gotta be another love
- 2:31:43interest. Sorry to be.
- 2:31:45Something else for Part 2 or for the sequel.
- 2:31:48But I get it. It's the romance part.
- 2:31:51But again, there's so many layers, there's so much depth in
- 2:31:55this movie that it just. No, no, yeah.
- 2:31:59We don't need to westernize it. Yeah.
- 2:32:02Speaking of Westernize, I'm glad that you brought that up La La
- 2:32:05because I do notice in the talking points again, we are
- 2:32:10like viewing this from our Western understanding our
- 2:32:14Western growing up, especially when it comes to spirituality,
- 2:32:17religion, things like that. And what triggered me to go into
- 2:32:20more research on this was a tick tock I came across.
- 2:32:23Now the girl could have done a little bit better in her
- 2:32:26introduction to try to explain this because she did kind of
- 2:32:28came off rude. It's like you guys are Korean so
- 2:32:31you wouldn't understand this. It's like, OK girl, like you
- 2:32:34don't have to do all that anyway.
- 2:32:35But it led to more nicer people who are excited to share about
- 2:32:40Korean culture that they grew up with or know about for me to
- 2:32:44want to deep dive a little bit further and why Jidu more than
- 2:32:48likely will not come back. So like I had said at the very
- 2:32:53beginning of this introduction, this whole thing is basically
- 2:32:57based off Korean shamanism. Now, the girls are based off of
- 2:33:01shamans, and even though they're labeled as hunters at the
- 2:33:03beginning of the movie, in real life, shamans are a majority
- 2:33:08women. So they're called mudag.
- 2:33:11There are some men, but a majority of them, I want to say
- 2:33:13probably like if you want to put a number to it, like 85% to 90%
- 2:33:18of the shamans are women. And you even see that in the
- 2:33:20beginning of the movie too, because the women like the first
- 2:33:24hunters, they're wearing typical clothing that shamans actually
- 2:33:27did wear back then. OK, so purpose in real life too
- 2:33:33that they're based off of so the mood, Dang.
- 2:33:36They serve as mediators between paying clients.
- 2:33:39So yes, people do, you know, pay them for their service and the
- 2:33:42supernatural world employing divination to determine the
- 2:33:45cause of the client's misfortune.
- 2:33:47So they usually perform rituals that are called good that I did
- 2:33:52mention at the beginning where they offer food and drink to the
- 2:33:55gods and spirits or entertain them with like storytelling, a
- 2:34:00song and a dance. There are like 1000 forms of
- 2:34:04good that I found again all in the links and they literally
- 2:34:07have their own practice and meanings if we want to put it in
- 2:34:10real life. If you are AK pop fan and you
- 2:34:13keep up with K Pop news, we saw that with, you know one who I
- 2:34:18will initial. MHJI had to remember what her
- 2:34:22dishes would be in English, you know, and how we found out
- 2:34:25through how she was trying to take over a certain company, how
- 2:34:29she was using a shaman's help. And even though that they were
- 2:34:33making fun in a sense, especially the Western people,
- 2:34:36like this is a real thing. I don't know if they still use
- 2:34:39shamans like that. But especially in her
- 2:34:40generation, now that I know all this, it makes sense.
- 2:34:43So in my research, one good stood out to me and it was
- 2:34:47called the Ginu Giglut, which actually originated in the
- 2:34:51region where the city we know of Seoul is today, which makes
- 2:34:54sense because again, the movie is set in Seoul.
- 2:34:56So the Gino Gino Giglut refers to a type of Korean ritual
- 2:35:01performed to guide the spirit of a deceased person to the
- 2:35:05afterlife. It is a ritual of regime that
- 2:35:08eases the passing of the deceased and helps them reach
- 2:35:11paradise after facing judgments by the underworld king.
- 2:35:15It is supposed to help the spirit towards a peaceful
- 2:35:18transition to the afterlife and resolve any unresolved issues
- 2:35:22that may have hindered their journey.
- 2:35:24Sound familiar guys? So believe, and this is my own
- 2:35:30personal theory that I wrote in here, I believe that the
- 2:35:33original hunters like the Huntrick, well, not the
- 2:35:36Huntricks, but the hunters because Huntricks is
- 2:35:38specifically Roomy, Zoe and Mira.
- 2:35:41I believe they knew this. I believe this is what they were
- 2:35:44doing the whole time. And however, you know how things
- 2:35:46get like miswritten and misconstrued throughout history.
- 2:35:50I personally feel like something along the lines got
- 2:35:52mistranslated to where they ended up getting taught to hate
- 2:35:57the demons and kill them as opposed to help them pass on.
- 2:36:01And what makes me think that is looking at the little bit we got
- 2:36:05to Celine and the way she acted talking about Rumi's father, who
- 2:36:08was a demon, compared to the unknown story that we know of,
- 2:36:11of how Rumi and Rumi's mother and her father, you know, got
- 2:36:14together. So personally, I feel like along
- 2:36:18the way there is some like, mistranslation there of like
- 2:36:22changing the ways of how they're supposed to actually defeat
- 2:36:24these demons. Yeah.
- 2:36:27Now there's a couple also theories I had of like maybe
- 2:36:30Rumi's mother somehow helped Rumi's father in some way get
- 2:36:34his soul back like Ginu away from Guima and like somehow
- 2:36:38ended up helping him not have him in his ear all the time.
- 2:36:42Because I had posted a picture in the server that's going
- 2:36:45around actually created by one of the creators.
- 2:36:47I had to make sure it wasn't like a fan art.
- 2:36:49There is a picture of Rumi's parents and of her when she's an
- 2:36:52infant. And from the way he is dressed
- 2:36:55you can tell he also probably was a saja or grim Reaper and
- 2:36:59like a humanoid demon. So I have a feeling he was a
- 2:37:02human first and then, you know, became Asaja somehow through
- 2:37:07Queen Mom. Because the demons you were
- 2:37:09talking about earlier, the ones that look more monster like,
- 2:37:12those were probably the ones that were never human but were
- 2:37:15always demons. And I looked it up because it's
- 2:37:17the most common demons. They're called do KB, which also
- 2:37:20translate to like goblin or demon.
- 2:37:23And they're trickster spirits in nature.
- 2:37:25That's why it's shown like when they trick Mira and Zoe and
- 2:37:30kidnapping Bobby. But they're really demon shows.
- 2:37:33They're trickster in nature even like at the very beginning of
- 2:37:35them like pretending to be like the pilot and the flight
- 2:37:37attendants. And also fun fact, apparently
- 2:37:41they were the the story of them as they were created through an
- 2:37:44animate objects stained with human blood.
- 2:37:46So that's how they became do K bees.
- 2:37:50Yeah. And they're lower demons too.
- 2:37:53So I feel like all the regular demons that we saw like that and
- 2:37:55there were other ones like the water demons, I don't know much
- 2:37:58about them, but the ones with the more monster like I think
- 2:38:01they were do K bees. So like in all.
- 2:38:05Of this you do see like when Gino goes back into the
- 2:38:10underworld, you can see a lot of people that or a lot of them
- 2:38:13that were Sajas. So I figured like there had to
- 2:38:19be a difference between them, which I'm pretty sure there are
- 2:38:23like more differences between the demons.
- 2:38:26And I think even a saja at the very very beginning of the movie
- 2:38:31was the one who brought the do KBS to collect the souls for
- 2:38:34guima because like I've never saw anywhere where it said the
- 2:38:38demons themselves eat the souls. I think they only collect them
- 2:38:41for guima so. Like their little purpose is to
- 2:38:47feed him. Yep.
- 2:38:49Which I think is what happens anyways, because that's how he
- 2:38:51gets more powerful, which is how he creates more demons, you
- 2:38:54know? Yeah.
- 2:38:56So it's a whole cycle. Yeah, so and all that to say
- 2:38:59with everything I said, that's why I'm like, Gino's truly dead
- 2:39:02because I think Rumi fulfilled her shaman duties to perform the
- 2:39:06chunugi like ritual to help him not only get his soul back, but
- 2:39:10to heal him from his regret. Now I do have two theories.
- 2:39:13Also. One again, she fulfilled her
- 2:39:16duty and he passed on like after he gave his soul to her like and
- 2:39:22helped like defeat Guima, he was able to actually find peace or
- 2:39:26if we want to be like Jidu's not gone.
- 2:39:29I actually do believe that Jinu's soul was used to create
- 2:39:33the New Han moon and Jinu is actually the New Han moon
- 2:39:36because also I didn't talk about it earlier, but Han moon is
- 2:39:40actually in Korean culture, a mystical gate of souls that you
- 2:39:44know creates the boundary between the living and the
- 2:39:46afterlife. Han actually means soul and moon
- 2:39:49means like door or gate, which makes sense throughout the whole
- 2:39:54thing you see them actually taking this parts of souls from
- 2:39:57living beings to create the Han moon.
- 2:40:00So if you want to be like that, Gino may be able to come back
- 2:40:04because his soul is still it's being used between the living
- 2:40:07and the dead as the new Han moon.
- 2:40:09Like he's the main foundation of it.
- 2:40:12And even when people are like, oh, maybe he is her weapon.
- 2:40:15I mean, yes, you can consider that because.
- 2:40:18Their weapons are actually created from the Hong Moon and
- 2:40:21it's shown at the beginning of the of the scene, like when
- 2:40:24they're about to fight and they're gathering them, you see
- 2:40:26Zoe like move her hand and it shows the glimmering wave of the
- 2:40:30Hong Moon and then her weapons appear.
- 2:40:31So their weapons are also made from the Hong Moon.
- 2:40:35Which again, if you can really take it, the Hong Moon is being
- 2:40:38created by like, I don't want to say the souls of the people
- 2:40:41because I don't believe that they're taking the souls from
- 2:40:43the people, but it's the belief of the people into the Hong Moon
- 2:40:49and into them that helps. Yes, get that so.
- 2:40:53But they still kind of use their souls in a way.
- 2:40:55I'm not really sure how they do it, but they're still in a
- 2:40:58sense. But it's not killing them or
- 2:40:59it's not like taking their full essence away, if that's making
- 2:41:02sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:41:06But it was a good movie. Yeah, and even last night, too,
- 2:41:09I had a theory of like, well, if we also want to be that way too,
- 2:41:11because in the song Golden, you know, Rumi talks about being a
- 2:41:15queen. And if we want to take it that
- 2:41:17route, maybe her father is like the true demon king.
- 2:41:20And like, in the sense of like, demons aren't that bad.
- 2:41:24And his ruling of demons, you know, to help, to help basically
- 2:41:29bring them up to the shaman so they can help them pass on.
- 2:41:32But then like, you know, Guima maybe have appeared and
- 2:41:35overruled him, making him go into hiding.
- 2:41:37And then he meets Rumi's mom. And then like, you know, maybe
- 2:41:41Rumi's like a Princess. And that's how because also
- 2:41:44another big factor is out of everybody, even the humans, Rumi
- 2:41:48is the only person who cannot hear Guima at all.
- 2:41:51So like, there's something in that to where why can she not
- 2:41:54hear him? So it's either Rumi's mother
- 2:41:57helped her father somehow find a way to break the control or her
- 2:42:01father may be the true ruler. Again, those are my theories.
- 2:42:05Who knows? Who knows, we'll have to wait
- 2:42:07and see, but yes, there is a sequel.
- 2:42:10If there is a sequel, which we're hoping for, I'm, I think,
- 2:42:13I know they were saying like tracking and keeping it either
- 2:42:16at #1 or high enough on Netflix may green light them until a
- 2:42:20sequel. So we hope so and we will see.
- 2:42:23But until I see the creators themselves celebrating that
- 2:42:26there's gonna be a sequel. Word.
- 2:42:28We're just not gonna believe all the rumors I've been seeing that
- 2:42:29there is gonna be a sequel. So yeah, I would also like a
- 2:42:32prequel cuz I really want to know more about not only her
- 2:42:34parents but just like the creation of the hunters.
- 2:42:39I want to see if my theories are correct.
- 2:42:41I want to know what happened to make umm her mother fall in love
- 2:42:44with a demon. Because I know there's also a
- 2:42:46theory going around when I talked about the demon king that
- 2:42:49Rumi may be Guima's daughter. But I'm like I feel like her
- 2:42:53mother is like Rumi in a way to where like she had to be
- 2:42:57convinced again from their teachings that demons are not
- 2:43:00all bad. Like I envisioned her father
- 2:43:02being like a genu to break her out of her teaching.
- 2:43:06Yeah, to make her fall in love. I don't believe she would fall
- 2:43:09in love with someone like Wima even if he tried to trick her.
- 2:43:12So. And like from the picture again
- 2:43:14I was talking about no. In the way that he was, and on
- 2:43:17top of that he would have been able to control Roomie then.
- 2:43:21Like it just, there's so much there that it's like, I don't
- 2:43:25think that'd be possible for him to be +2.
- 2:43:28Yeah, from the picture I was talking about earlier, like if
- 2:43:31you see that picture, I'll try to find a way to maybe link it
- 2:43:34from the social media. Like he looks in love with both
- 2:43:37of them. So it's like you can't tell me
- 2:43:39someone has that much love and adoration for not only her
- 2:43:41mother and their child and then, I don't know, throws it away,
- 2:43:45fakes it so. Yeah, but all right, well, that
- 2:43:50was a good movie and review and hopefully everyone goes and
- 2:43:55enjoys and supports not just, you know, the movie or the
- 2:44:00creators, but also take a look into some of like the other
- 2:44:05artists that are involved in this project, then maybe take a
- 2:44:07look into their music. As well as the animators,
- 2:44:10because a lot of them have been showing a lot of really cool,
- 2:44:12like behind the scenes or like things that were cut out from
- 2:44:16the original, like drawings. So it's been fun to find them
- 2:44:18too and see like the process basically of making this movie
- 2:44:22if you're also into like, art and all that.
- 2:44:25Yeah, yeah. Definitely show some love.
- 2:44:30Yes, yes. What we usually do when we do
- 2:44:32these. Do you have a rating for this
- 2:44:33movie? What's the height?
- 2:44:37What's the highest rate? We usually do, like I think out
- 2:44:39of 10. Oh, within 10 I love. 10 out of
- 2:44:4310 this. Movie will be my favorite movie
- 2:44:46of the year. I already told you that.
- 2:44:48So yeah, this I'll. Also give it a 10 out of 10.
- 2:44:51Although it is battling with Sinners, I'm going to say it's
- 2:44:55like this and Sinners are up there as far as my favorite
- 2:44:58movies out of the year, which is a compliment because I don't
- 2:45:00remember the last time I've had a battle of like movies like
- 2:45:04that as far as favorites. So yeah, definitely so, unless
- 2:45:10something else comes out later on.
- 2:45:12But so far I'm very picky when it comes to movies.
- 2:45:14I still have to go and see Sinners so.
- 2:45:17It's on streaming, so if you have Max, it's on there now.
- 2:45:21HBO Max now. I'm sorry they changed the name
- 2:45:24again. Yeah, no surprise there.
- 2:45:28Yes, I also give it a 10 out of 10.
- 2:45:30So great movie. Again, please go watch it and we
- 2:45:33hope you enjoyed this review and let us know in the comments your
