- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart, and today
- 0:17Speaker 2: we're joined by Stephen Ranella, Brody Henderson, Giannis Putellis, Randall Williams,
- 0:22Speaker 2: Ryan Callahan, Hansi desha Is trying to cut me out
- 0:25Speaker 2: of Morris and Corey Caulkins. What's the problem here?
- 0:30Speaker 3: So I can't hear the question?
- 0:31Speaker 4: Your headphones are on, Steve. It's just so we just
- 0:34Speaker 4: went through a whole thing where I had to turn
- 0:35Speaker 4: Spencer's down by a ton because they.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Were up for you.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I can't hear out of it here. Give me a

- 0:50Speaker 3: I gotta wait. They can't put the tube there yet.
- 0:52Speaker 3: You gotta wait.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Okay, I feel like I can.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Improve that you can't hear.
- 0:57Speaker 5: I'm like you kind of sound like you're a little.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I don't have my balance.
- 1:03Speaker 6: I can't do one leg of deadlifts and ship like
- 1:05Speaker 6: that rough shape.
- 1:07Speaker 7: You're gonna have someone that's.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Going, okay, hey, Steve says, these your headphones are they
- 1:12Speaker 4: getting like.
- 1:13Speaker 5: When you go to prove that you hell, he can't
- 1:15Speaker 5: hear you.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Just show them all this footage. Steve's gonna be shooting
- 1:19Speaker 2: across bow this year.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Steve, How's how's this?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Steve disabled?
- 1:25Speaker 5: I can't hear anything.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's worse than we even thought.
- 1:30Speaker 8: You're gonna have to have someone that's just dedicated to
- 1:33Speaker 8: listen from Moose calling.
- 1:35Speaker 5: This might be Brodie or and I apologize.
- 1:38Speaker 4: That's you Mine, super super fucking loud.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Calls up to you.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's a great start.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Here's the thing.
- 1:48Speaker 5: You're not gonna don't have any audio questions.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Okay, do you want to start over?
- 1:53Speaker 5: Spencer?
- 1:54Speaker 4: Keep this in because the cameras haven't been switching because
- 1:56Speaker 4: I've been doing stuff.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Are we are? We can? We carry on now? This
- 2:02Speaker 2: is a ten round quiz show with questions from meat
- 2:05Speaker 2: Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 2:11Speaker 2: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing.
- 2:16Speaker 2: But this isn't just any regular old game of meat
- 2:19Speaker 2: Eater Trivia. This is episode three of the twenty twenty
- 2:23Speaker 2: three Meat Eater Trivia Tournament. There are four episodes total,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and by the end of the last one we'll have
- 2:29Speaker 2: crowned a champion of Meat Eater Trivia for twenty twenty three. Now,
- 2:33Speaker 2: this game will have spoilers, so if you haven't heard
- 2:36Speaker 2: episodes one and two yet, then pause this and go
- 2:40Speaker 2: back and listen to those first. All right, now that
- 2:43Speaker 2: everyone's caught up, we're ready to declare our second ever
- 2:47Speaker 2: Meat Eater Trivia champion. Will it be Steve, the man
- 2:50Speaker 2: who will try to argue his way to a victory
- 2:53Speaker 2: instead of just getting the answers right? Or could it
- 2:56Speaker 2: be Honest who left in elkun early for a chance
- 2:58Speaker 2: to win, or Randall, a player who told me that
- 3:02Speaker 2: he literally loses sleep over trivia. Or will it be Cory,
- 3:06Speaker 2: the man who sneakily came in second place in last
- 3:09Speaker 2: year's tournament. Or could it be Seth whose wife told
- 3:12Speaker 2: him not to come home if he does bad? Or
- 3:15Speaker 2: could it be Hansei, a player with only four game
- 3:18Speaker 2: under his belt. Or will it be cal a man
- 3:21Speaker 2: who conveniently says he doesn't care about trivia when he
- 3:25Speaker 2: loses at trivia? Or will it be Brodie, the defending
- 3:29Speaker 2: champion from twenty twenty two, that is what we're here
- 3:32Speaker 2: to decide. No, I'd like to hear a lot of competitors,
- 3:35Speaker 2: what do you got right now?
- 3:37Speaker 9: We're deciding this today, today, today, it's happening now.
- 3:40Speaker 2: In two hours from now, we will know who the
- 3:42Speaker 2: meat Eater Trivia.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 3:46Speaker 7: I didn't know there was already two episodes.
- 3:50Speaker 3: You got, you got because you get witted off or
- 3:53Speaker 3: you just got put in.
- 3:54Speaker 9: I knew that it's got. I didn't know we were
- 3:56Speaker 9: going to final champion or.
- 3:58Speaker 2: The invite to this guess or to this game today,
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yanni said, Meat Eater Trivia Championship should have given.
- 4:05Speaker 7: I thought it was multiple games?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Is multiple?
- 4:07Speaker 5: Some of us y has been fighting it out in
- 4:09Speaker 5: the drinks to get here.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I'd like to hear from our competitors, who who do
- 4:15Speaker 2: you think will win? Let's go around the room and
- 4:16Speaker 2: get an answer from everyone. No cop outs, don't say
- 4:19Speaker 2: like conservation is gonna win.
- 4:21Speaker 10: They do this at the beginning of NFL games every year.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Every year.
- 4:24Speaker 6: They actually, I'm gonna I'm gonna keeping with the NFL theme.
- 4:29Speaker 6: I'm gonna get a question and then I'm gonna keep
- 4:33Speaker 6: getting the questions.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Okay, that's my explain to me how that relates to
- 4:38Speaker 2: the NFL, because they.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Always go like, oh, we're gonna score early and get ahead, and.
- 4:43Speaker 2: It's a good strategy. Okay, Steve is picking himself, Hansei,
- 4:47Speaker 2: who you got?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Oh boy?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Uh conservation was that? No?
- 4:51Speaker 7: No, no, I can't do that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You could pick yourself. You could pick someone else.
- 4:57Speaker 10: Oh boy, you know I'm gonna I'm gonna take the
- 5:03Speaker 10: Kanzi tell us who's gonna win.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We'll take the cheap seats here and go Randall, Randall, Okay, Randall,
- 5:07Speaker 2: who's gonna win?
- 5:09Speaker 10: I mean, I'll just say me.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Okay, Yanni, Now, Yanni. Last year, I think when I
- 5:17Speaker 2: asked you this question, you went on a tangent about
- 5:19Speaker 2: old Yeller, I believe to explain your answer, which I'm
- 5:22Speaker 2: not even sure if you ever got to.
- 5:24Speaker 5: That mangy yellow dog.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so who do you think is going to win?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Really?
- 5:27Speaker 9: And you don't remember how I correlated the two.
- 5:29Speaker 7: No, I wish you could.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You can try again.
- 5:33Speaker 9: No, I don't have it in me now. Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I actually just.
- 5:41Speaker 9: Started reading between uh no, where the red fern grows
- 5:45Speaker 9: again in preparation for hound huntings. No, that's at the end.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Big Dan, Little am Yanni.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Who's gonna win?
- 5:55Speaker 9: If I if I had to put my money on it,
- 5:58Speaker 9: I'm gonna give it to the doctor too.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Wow. Three three votes for Randalls so far set who
- 6:04Speaker 2: is going to win Meat Eater Trivia?
- 6:07Speaker 5: Since Corey got second last year?
- 6:09Speaker 4: I think he has it in Okay, good he got
- 6:12Speaker 4: second of the whole champions.
- 6:14Speaker 2: The whole thing last year he took second place. Cal
- 6:16Speaker 2: who's gonna win? He did in fact going to win?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Who you got?
- 6:30Speaker 3: I think the top.
- 6:34Speaker 7: I'll remind you answer.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody has picked Brody yet or.
- 6:39Speaker 8: Well you know that's what happens when you got ten
- 6:41Speaker 8: more wins than everyone else.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna win.
- 6:46Speaker 9: Okay, Corey, Hey, I don't think mine never got updated
- 6:50Speaker 9: after my last I have to do a big update.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Definitely a lot.
- 6:56Speaker 10: I don't even have one, so.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Coy this is because he picked me, but sets on
- 7:01Speaker 2: a roll. Oh yeah, okay, well the room, the room,
- 7:05Speaker 2: money is on Randal then Randall. A lot of pressure
- 7:08Speaker 2: on you.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Oh I love the pressure on right now?
- 7:11Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 7:11Speaker 10: I think HANSI said in motion the first many steps
- 7:14Speaker 10: that will lead up to eventual disappointment.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Okay, I think that's five votes for Randall. Randall, we
- 7:21Speaker 2: could just quit right now.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You know I'm all for that.
- 7:24Speaker 7: Actually, now, before we move.
- 7:26Speaker 2: On, I should first explain how this is going to work.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Our championship will be decided by twenty questions instead of ten.
- 7:34Speaker 2: You'll hear the first ten questions this week and the
- 7:36Speaker 2: second ten questions next week. But there's a twist. Only
- 7:40Speaker 2: six of you will advance to the final episode. That
- 7:43Speaker 2: means our two lowest performing players from today will be
- 7:46Speaker 2: eliminated from the tournament. So these stakes are high.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Sounds like a It sounds like I would do a
- 7:53Speaker 3: more aggressive cut yeesb.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Okay, what if you're like sixth place? I remind you,
- 7:59Speaker 2: so he'd be like, yeah, keep it the way we had.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I remind you. See what happened last year. We had
- 8:02Speaker 2: some qualifying episodes to which I granted you a bye
- 8:05Speaker 2: and you said, b yes, I will not take the buye.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I'm going to earn my way. And then I think
- 8:10Speaker 2: you barely snuck in by the skin of your teeth,
- 8:13Speaker 2: And about halfway through the episode you're like, you know,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I think I will take that by to the next round. Okay,
- 8:18Speaker 2: And that was that was actually after I explained to
- 8:20Speaker 2: you what a buy meant, which was uh. I love
- 8:23Speaker 2: that that you didn't know. It's so organic that you
- 8:26Speaker 2: didn't know what a bye was in sports. It's very
- 8:28Speaker 2: on brand.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I appreciate you, remember what you told me.
- 8:30Speaker 8: I feel like Spencer gets really mean in He's championship
- 8:34Speaker 8: because he's like, mister guy.
- 8:36Speaker 9: Have you guys seen that T shirt? I think it
- 8:38Speaker 9: was given a Steve, but Rosemary wears it and it's
- 8:41Speaker 9: the dude dunking.
- 8:43Speaker 7: It says touchdown.
- 8:46Speaker 9: I laughed at least ten times that day every time
- 8:49Speaker 9: I look over and see that T shirt.
- 8:51Speaker 5: That's great year.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Your point, Brody, of me being mean, I think this
- 8:57Speaker 2: game usually fluctuates somewhere between entertaining and informative and downright mean.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Today today the needle is just like broken off the
- 9:07Speaker 2: scale and it's down to like competitive. No.
- 9:08Speaker 7: Oh, I can take it.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Don't work. You can be as mean as you want,
- 9:12Speaker 2: So two of you are not going to be in
- 9:14Speaker 2: next week's episode. Now for the stat of the Week.
- 9:16Speaker 2: This week, we're looking at player performance from last year's
- 9:19Speaker 2: Trivia Championship. Brody won the game with six correct answers,
- 9:23Speaker 2: followed by Corey and Giannis with five. All three players
- 9:27Speaker 2: were tied going into question ten, but Brody pulled away
- 9:30Speaker 2: after answering correctly that the cardinal is the most common
- 9:34Speaker 2: state bird in America. Brody, if I hadn't reminded you
- 9:37Speaker 2: would have you remembered that your winning question was about
- 9:41Speaker 2: the most common song bird that is.
- 9:44Speaker 7: Remember, but I remember being real happy about it.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I was the only one that had that answer.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Good on you, Brody. And here's our zero percenter question
- 9:51Speaker 2: of the Week, which tests how much knowledge players have
- 9:53Speaker 2: retained from previous shows. This question was from last year's
- 9:57Speaker 2: Trivia Championship. The topic was fishing, and nobody got it right.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Name the state with either the heaviest or lightest largemouth
- 10:06Speaker 2: bass state record. Who knows it? I remind you nobody
- 10:10Speaker 2: got this right last year in the Championship episode. If
- 10:13Speaker 2: you have an answer, just shouted out California, Georgia. No,
- 10:16Speaker 2: Brody got it right. Georgia was the heaviest, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 2: the lightest anybody No, No, Michigan, Alaska was right. The
- 10:26Speaker 2: correct answers with Georgia and Alaska. The incorrect answers given
- 10:30Speaker 2: were Texas, California, and Florida. Everybody went with heavy and
- 10:34Speaker 2: everybody got it wrong. Now there's no housekeeping today, so
- 10:37Speaker 2: we can get on with the tournament. The Shelby index
- 10:40Speaker 2: for the twenty questions, there is like one or two
- 10:44Speaker 2: ponds that have them. The state record for Alaska was
- 10:47Speaker 2: like seven ounces, and I think there's a chance that
- 10:50Speaker 2: they may have eradicated all of them by now cool,
- 10:53Speaker 2: so it was very recent. I don't think they would
- 10:55Speaker 2: think it's cool. There is cool.
- 10:58Speaker 8: Have a hard time seeing large getting a foothold in Alaska.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Now there's no housekeeping today. The Shelby index for all
- 11:06Speaker 2: twenty questions is a seven, so our winners should get
- 11:09Speaker 2: fourteen correct answers. And with that we're onto the game
- 11:12Speaker 2: of trivia. Play the drop, phil one, Look, I need
- 11:18Speaker 2: to know what I shoulday under win everything.
- 11:21Speaker 5: I mean, size is reletive bright.
- 11:25Speaker 7: It's gonna be hard to figure out.
- 11:31Speaker 11: Game on suckers.
- 11:35Speaker 9: Oh, Phil, nice touch there?
- 11:38Speaker 2: What's the matter? Yanni? Add your arms up?
- 11:40Speaker 9: So we're doing twenty questions this game, and then another
- 11:43Speaker 9: twenty questions for the final final.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Ten questions this week, ten questions next week.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Got it?
- 11:49Speaker 2: Our listeners can have a peek behind the curtain. This
- 11:51Speaker 2: is recorded the same day, Yanni, So when we finished
- 11:53Speaker 2: this episode, we're gonna do the next episode right away.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Satisfied minus two people, that's right. Question one. The topic
- 12:01Speaker 2: is woodsmanship, and as always, this will be multiple choice.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Which of these trees is not native to North America?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Is it a red maple, a black locust, a blue spruce,
- 12:15Speaker 2: or white poplar? Three of these are native to North America.
- 12:20Speaker 2: One of them is not. Is it a red maple,
- 12:24Speaker 2: a black locust, a blue spruce, or white poplar. I'll
- 12:30Speaker 2: remind our players on this side of the table. You
- 12:32Speaker 2: can look at Phil. The questions are on the TV
- 12:35Speaker 2: next to him. If you need a reminder of what
- 12:38Speaker 2: your answering.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Thick color color?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Which of these trees is not native to North America?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Red maple, black locust, blue spruce, white poplar. Seth with
- 12:51Speaker 2: the quickest answer. Him and Yanni are are sharing what they.
- 12:57Speaker 9: You don't know that we've been over here, just you know,
- 13:00Speaker 9: you can't even read our lips.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Fill me in that.
- 13:03Speaker 9: I feel like I asked him if he knows it,
- 13:06Speaker 9: because I feel like he should. He should because he
- 13:08Speaker 9: has a degree in forestry.
- 13:13Speaker 12: There's one of these only species I'd never heard mentioned
- 13:17Speaker 12: when I was in forest for school.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Okay, red maple, black locust, blue spruce, white poplar. Does
- 13:23Speaker 2: everybody having an.
- 13:27Speaker 3: What's weird?
- 13:28Speaker 13: Cal?
- 13:30Speaker 3: I get here?
- 13:31Speaker 11: Oh, I find I find it weird that Seth says,
- 13:35Speaker 11: you know, there's a list of trees there that he
- 13:37Speaker 11: never heard mentioned, and like one of those things you
- 13:39Speaker 11: never heard mentioned in school, you.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Know one of them. Is everybody ready? Brody? You ready?
- 13:46Speaker 8: I hate missing the first question.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers, with Cal saying red maple,
- 13:52Speaker 2: set saying white poplar, Janni is saying blue spruce, Randall's
- 13:56Speaker 2: saying black locust, Hansy saying red maple, Steve saying blue spruce,
- 14:02Speaker 2: Corey saying black locust, Brody saying white poplars.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Between red and white.
- 14:06Speaker 2: For me, every choice was picked. The correct answer is
- 14:11Speaker 2: the white poplar. Yeah, I think we had Seth and
- 14:16Speaker 2: grown get it right. White poplars are native to Eurasia,
- 14:20Speaker 2: but we're introduced to North America in seventeen forty eight.
- 14:24Speaker 2: They have been reported in forty eight states, and our
- 14:27Speaker 2: most prevalent east of the Missouri River. White poplars have
- 14:30Speaker 2: been named one of the worst invaders of the Great
- 14:33Speaker 2: Lakes region where they overtake native trees, shrubs, and grasses.
- 14:38Speaker 7: Isn't it Colorado blue spruce?
- 14:40Speaker 3: Yeah? Well I know, but that's what I was thinking.
- 14:42Speaker 3: But that I thought I remember someone saying that it was.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Like a misnomer. They are native to the Rocky Mountains.
- 14:47Speaker 8: You're not allowed to cut him down for Christmas trees
- 14:49Speaker 8: where we used to live and real they're like protected.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Question two, the topic is hunting. This archery term refers
- 14:57Speaker 2: to the percentage of drawweight that a shooter hole hold
- 15:00Speaker 2: on a fully drawn compound bow a confident room. This
- 15:07Speaker 2: archery term refers to the percentage of drawweight that a
- 15:11Speaker 2: shooter holds on a fully drawn compound bow a very
- 15:18Speaker 2: confident room. Now we have Cory second guessing Hansey without
- 15:22Speaker 2: an answer. Randall, do you have this one right?
- 15:25Speaker 10: I think so.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Randall's not a big archery guy.
- 15:30Speaker 10: No, No, so, I'm I'm a little concerned that it
- 15:34Speaker 10: seems to be causing confusion for people who are big
- 15:36Speaker 10: archery guys.
- 15:39Speaker 2: This archery term refers to the percentage of drawweight that
- 15:42Speaker 2: a shooter holds on a fully drawn compound Does everybody right?
- 15:47Speaker 12: No?
- 15:47Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Is everybody ready, Hansey, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 15:55Speaker 2: We have Cal saying let off, Seth saying let off,
- 15:59Speaker 2: Hansy saying let off, friend of saying let off, Hansey's
- 16:01Speaker 2: saying break, Steve saying let off, Corey saying let off,
- 16:04Speaker 2: Brody saying let off. They got it. The correct answer
- 16:07Speaker 2: is let off.
- 16:08Speaker 7: It's a weirdly worded question.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Compound bows use cables and cams that store energy, which
- 16:14Speaker 2: reduces the bows held weight at full draw. For example,
- 16:18Speaker 2: if you are shooting a seventy pound bow with eighty
- 16:20Speaker 2: percent let off, then you would actually have just fourteen
- 16:24Speaker 2: pounds of felt weight at full draw. Most hunters have
- 16:27Speaker 2: a let off around eighty percent, while target archers are
- 16:30Speaker 2: closer to seventy percent. That's a definition. You'll find Brody
- 16:35Speaker 2: anywhere where you look up. Archie Lingo, No, I know
- 16:37Speaker 2: what it is.
- 16:38Speaker 7: Just say the it's like worded weirdly.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I mean, if it were up to me, I'd throw
- 16:43Speaker 5: out the first two. Just throw them out.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Question really quick, Hansey, Were you the only one who
- 16:49Speaker 4: did that?
- 16:50Speaker 5: I was the only Okay, thank you? Sorry? I hate
- 16:52Speaker 5: it when I have to do that.
- 16:53Speaker 2: That won't be long.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I'll be all move a little of the right.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Wasn't your right that you can't hear from left? Question three,
- 17:04Speaker 2: the topic is public lands. What National Park is home
- 17:09Speaker 2: to the rock formation known as El Captain?
- 17:14Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:16Speaker 2: What National Park is home to the rock formation known
- 17:20Speaker 2: as El Captain. We have a very confident room yet again,
- 17:27Speaker 2: except for set I can't tell this is a trick question.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I know because because Seth is this a trick question?
- 17:34Speaker 5: It's hard to articulate.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Just have the question, well, just have the question be
- 17:39Speaker 3: out there.
- 17:40Speaker 2: We just want to.
- 17:43Speaker 4: As someone who knows the answer, I believe it is
- 17:46Speaker 4: El Capitan.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yes, oh, okay, that was problem.
- 17:51Speaker 5: It's not happening.
- 17:54Speaker 7: I don't know what is happening. This is unprecedented.
- 18:00Speaker 3: He can't know. He don't need to pronounce his own question.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Pronunciation question. Okay, there's a lot of.
- 18:16Speaker 9: Captain also shocked. It like the general agreement in the
- 18:22Speaker 9: room right.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Now about how that's bad.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Well, just how it's like, well, you got to play
- 18:27Speaker 5: the ball where it lies.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Sorry, if you don't know.
- 18:29Speaker 2: What I spelled it wrong and I read it wrong,
- 18:32Speaker 2: it is El Capitan.
- 18:34Speaker 11: Can we like have a little sound bite, just Spencer
- 18:37Speaker 11: saying he was wrong about one of his questions.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Often what National Park is home to the rock formation
- 18:45Speaker 2: known as Capitan. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead
- 18:50Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Cal saying Yosemite, Seth
- 18:54Speaker 2: saying Theodore Roosevelt, Janna is saying Yosemite. Everyone else saying
- 19:00Speaker 2: they got it right. The correct answer is Yosemite. There
- 19:03Speaker 2: goes Seth's lead after getting the first long Game Long Game.
- 19:09Speaker 2: El Capitan is a granite monolith that's three thousand feet
- 19:13Speaker 2: from base to summit. The Free Solo documentary, which came
- 19:16Speaker 2: out in twenty eighteen, follows Alex Honold in his pursuit
- 19:20Speaker 2: of being the first person to free solo climb the wall.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Hanld accomplishes that and is still the only person who
- 19:26Speaker 2: ever climbed the rock without the aid of ropes or
- 19:29Speaker 2: protective gear. El Capitan has claimed thirty climbing fatalities in
- 19:34Speaker 2: the last one hundred years.
- 19:36Speaker 3: He about.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Wasn't there.
- 19:38Speaker 7: They just saw a bear climbing that thing recently.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Well pretty sure.
- 19:43Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure. I hope I'm right, but I'm pretty sure.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I'll hope you're right too. That would be impressive.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I think you just.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Following the trail of sweat and chalk.
- 19:53Speaker 7: And this is like with the last week or two.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Question four, the topic is cooking. What cut of meat
- 20:01Speaker 2: does the filet mignon come from? What cut of meat
- 20:07Speaker 2: does the filet mignon come from? Room was very confident
- 20:12Speaker 2: on question three, not as confident on question four. Yannis,
- 20:22Speaker 2: do you know this? We have a hansei an honest
- 20:25Speaker 2: honese Hansei do you know this? I think, Steve, do
- 20:32Speaker 2: you know this?
- 20:34Speaker 3: I don't know if I mean, I got an answer
- 20:36Speaker 3: written down?
- 20:36Speaker 2: What cut of meat does the filet mignon come from?
- 20:42Speaker 5: Randall?
- 20:43Speaker 10: You look confused. I'm not confused. I just don't have
- 20:46Speaker 10: an answer. I see the situation quite clearly. Actually I'm
- 20:53Speaker 10: unhappy with it. But no confusion here.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Brad, you are the chosen one.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It's not hot.
- 20:59Speaker 10: Dog, Well there could be hot dog, or it could
- 21:03Speaker 10: be in a hot dog.
- 21:05Speaker 2: This is questions four of twenty.
- 21:09Speaker 5: Can we argue the poplar question?
- 21:11Speaker 11: Was it not native to North America or not native
- 21:14Speaker 11: to the United States?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Not native to North America? It is native to Eurasia,
- 21:19Speaker 2: which is not in the.
- 21:20Speaker 11: I was just I was saying the United States weren't
- 21:22Speaker 11: formed in seventeen seventy four?
- 21:24Speaker 5: Is that you also?
- 21:26Speaker 2: I would? I would say this, and it doesn't look
- 21:29Speaker 2: so good after the last question. But I had all
- 21:31Speaker 2: of these. I had all these questions fact checked by
- 21:33Speaker 2: our very own Jordan Sillers, who is also a doctor
- 21:36Speaker 2: and whose work I very much trust. So I have
- 21:39Speaker 2: confidence in these questions going forward. Besides, you know what
- 21:43Speaker 2: happens with the rock formation?
- 21:45Speaker 5: Yea come to meet?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Does a filet Mignon come from? Does everybody have an answer?
- 21:49Speaker 2: I have an answer, Randall, sure, go ahead and reveal
- 21:53Speaker 2: your answers. We have Cow saying tenderloin, Seth saying loin,
- 21:58Speaker 2: Jannis is saying tenderloin, Randall's saying round, Hansei saying tenderloin,
- 22:03Speaker 2: Steve saying tenderloin, Cordy saying tenderloin, Brody saying tenderloin. The
- 22:09Speaker 2: correct answer is tenderloin. The room did pretty well.
- 22:14Speaker 5: You know I have to place in San Francisco, too,
- 22:16Speaker 5: don't you.
- 22:19Speaker 2: A file at Mignon is the small end of the tenderloin.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Although it wouldn't be practical to separate the tenderloin on
- 22:25Speaker 2: a deer, it would be worthy of doing so on
- 22:27Speaker 2: a bison, moose or elk. If you were to purchase
- 22:30Speaker 2: an elk filet Mignon online, you would cost about fifty
- 22:34Speaker 2: dollars for a six ounce serving. Question five, take that job?
- 22:40Speaker 3: His job, Spencers, you.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Want to play host, Let's do it.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I'm gonna give you a while.
- 22:46Speaker 6: I'm gonna work up little list and I know you
- 22:49Speaker 6: and I know I want to get what six six right?
- 22:52Speaker 2: Six to nine? It's a healthy, healthy score. I think
- 22:56Speaker 2: you think you could you do it?
- 22:58Speaker 3: Give me a minute.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Did you listen to Honest Is episode?
- 23:01Speaker 3: But the problem is no, I'm never listening to any
- 23:03Speaker 3: of the ones. I'm not on to one. I won.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I quit listening because it's too painful. Oh really, yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 3: I sat there one.
- 23:13Speaker 9: But it's not fun to listen to the ones where
- 23:15Speaker 9: you're not there and play a lot.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And I was.
- 23:19Speaker 3: But I won, and then it doesn't do me any good.
- 23:22Speaker 2: He called me immediately after I could hear the music
- 23:25Speaker 2: exiting the podcast to tell me that he had just won.
- 23:30Speaker 3: That was the wich I got no credit.
- 23:33Speaker 7: Fancy you painted colorful picture there?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Question five The topic is fishing. What legendary fishing family
- 23:41Speaker 2: created the Lindy Tackle Company And in Fisherman Magazine, what
- 23:48Speaker 2: legendary fishing family created the Lindy Tackle Company? And in
- 23:54Speaker 2: Fisherman Magazine? A confident Seth? A confident? Honest? Can't confident? Brody? Brody,
- 23:59Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yes?
- 24:03Speaker 2: What but legendary fishing family created the Lindy Tackle Company?
- 24:08Speaker 2: And in Fisherman magazine? Do those things sound familiar to you?
- 24:14Speaker 3: Steve?
- 24:14Speaker 2: Do you know what the Lindy Tackle Company?
- 24:16Speaker 3: All that ship?
- 24:17Speaker 5: Just company?
- 24:18Speaker 6: Is real surprise that I just don't know anything about.
- 24:21Speaker 6: Like I didn't even know that they were related. I
- 24:22Speaker 6: didn't know that you know what I mean?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Seth?
- 24:25Speaker 2: You have this one right? I assume Joannis is also confident.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Randall does not look confident.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Steve.
- 24:33Speaker 8: You got to cover your board up, man, I've ever
- 24:36Speaker 8: written you there?
- 24:38Speaker 3: Getting right?
- 24:38Speaker 2: He could probably get away with not covering his board.
- 24:40Speaker 2: How small he wrote?
- 24:42Speaker 11: Is like?
- 24:43Speaker 3: What was going on?
- 24:45Speaker 8: Man?
- 24:49Speaker 2: What legendary fishing family created the Lindy Tackle Company? And
- 24:54Speaker 2: in Fisherman man.
- 24:55Speaker 3: There's this country has a legendary fishing family.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Jannis Brody, do you think this is a Yeah?
- 25:04Speaker 7: We're handing out hints you never heard of the pless.
- 25:08Speaker 7: That's another one to.
- 25:13Speaker 14: Do.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Everybody have an answer. Who's going to come up with.
- 25:15Speaker 3: The name legendary fishy family?
- 25:18Speaker 2: Ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Cal
- 25:22Speaker 2: saying Linderman, Seth saying Lindner's, Johannis saying Lindner's. Randall sang, Winkleman,
- 25:29Speaker 2: Ponsi saying, Berkeley, Steve saying the Houstons, Cordy saying the Lindy's,
- 25:36Speaker 2: Brody saying Lindner's. They got it. The correct answer is
- 25:39Speaker 2: the Lindeners.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Well, if I had written the Lindy's because the Lindy rig.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm not going to give that to you. And we're
- 25:44Speaker 2: not going to give it to Cal. I think he
- 25:45Speaker 2: got to Linderman. We're not going to give that to
- 25:50Speaker 2: al and Ron Lindner created the Lindy Tackle Company, which
- 25:54Speaker 2: is famous for their Lindy rigs, in nineteen sixty eight.
- 25:57Speaker 2: They sold the brand about a decade later that they
- 26:00Speaker 2: could focus on in Fishermen, a magazine they launched in
- 26:03Speaker 2: nineteen seventy five. Al Ron Bill and James Lindner are
- 26:07Speaker 2: all in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Fifty years that magaze it was a freshwater Hall of Fame.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You you did know that, Steve, And last time you
- 26:17Speaker 2: said I think I'd like to be in there, I would. Okay,
- 26:20Speaker 2: So you did know it exists. I was.
- 26:22Speaker 10: I was trying so hard to figure out how they
- 26:23Speaker 10: got Lindy out of Winkleman.
- 26:27Speaker 6: I don't know why I would have just written I
- 26:29Speaker 6: know it was a Lindy rig. Why did I not
- 26:30Speaker 6: write Lindy because that's not a famous fish, it's I
- 26:34Speaker 6: wouldn't have gotten it right, No, No, he tried it.
- 26:37Speaker 5: He did and it didn't work.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Oh, okay, so I wasn't even close, because that's the
- 26:41Speaker 3: closest okay.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Fe are a quarter of the way through our game
- 26:45Speaker 2: of trivia A schooerboard update.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think everyone picking Randall as the probable winner
- 26:51Speaker 4: was completely psyched him out, and that.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Was that was a good group effort.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Tod here.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Randall has two points as well, Hansie got Steve, Seth,
- 27:01Speaker 4: Corey and cow All tied up with three points apiece.

- 27:25Speaker 9: Checkers is like, come on, finish it up next year.
- 27:28Speaker 9: Can we have graphics when you do the score updates?
- 27:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's I'll have to think of a new
- 27:35Speaker 4: program to use then I do this, but I'll try
- 27:37Speaker 4: to figure something out.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Sure it would just be more impactful. Yeah, I know.
- 27:40Speaker 5: It kind of eliminates my job. And I'm you know,
- 27:41Speaker 5: I'm here to stay.
- 27:44Speaker 2: My wife and I like to play scrabble. Uh huh
- 27:46Speaker 2: a lot.
- 27:47Speaker 3: And I beat her the other night. Uh, and I
- 27:53Speaker 3: was such what she called a sore winner. She launched
- 27:56Speaker 3: the scrabble board. Wow, it to be two days to
- 27:59Speaker 3: find the pieces.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I have no problem envisioning that happening. Done surprised me
- 28:04Speaker 2: one bit. What was the distribution of the pieces? Like?
- 28:07Speaker 2: How far from?
- 28:08Speaker 12: Uh?
- 28:11Speaker 3: You know, so it's like cooking, eating, sitting everywhere.
- 28:15Speaker 5: What did you say after your win?
- 28:18Speaker 3: I don't even remember, but yeah, it's just like just
- 28:20Speaker 3: the worst winner I ever heard of, A bad winner.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Question six.
- 28:36Speaker 2: The topic is Gear. This gun maker who's famous for
- 28:41Speaker 2: their military and police revolvers, announced in twenty twenty one
- 28:45Speaker 2: that they'd be moving their headquarters from Massachusetts to Tennessee.
- 28:53Speaker 2: This gun maker who's famous for their military and police revolvers,
- 28:58Speaker 2: announced in twenty twenty one that they'd be moving their
- 29:00Speaker 2: headquarters from Massachusetts to Tennessee. A fairly confident room, Steve,
- 29:09Speaker 2: you have this one, right, Yeah, I do. I think
- 29:14Speaker 2: maybe Brody's still doing some writing. Cal, I think you're
- 29:17Speaker 2: the only one who hasn't come up with an answer yet.
- 29:20Speaker 2: This gun maker, who's famous for their military and police revolvers,
- 29:24Speaker 2: announced in twenty twenty one that they'd be moving their

- 30:17Speaker 2: Randall sank Smith and Wesson. Hansy saying Colt Steve saying
- 30:21Speaker 2: Smith and Wesson, Cory saying Smith and Wesson, Brody saying

- 30:31Speaker 2: in the room.
- 30:33Speaker 5: Tell me like I want to know.
- 30:37Speaker 11: Based off of what criteria? Is Smith and Wesson famous
- 30:43Speaker 11: for military revolvers?
- 30:45Speaker 2: They produced the I think the M ten, which they
- 30:48Speaker 2: distributed six million of It became like the official contracted
- 30:52Speaker 2: revolver of the military and law enforcement.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I'm all for Terren Spencer down and all that, but
- 30:59Speaker 3: your bark up.
- 31:01Speaker 7: Didn't you ever see the dirty army?
- 31:03Speaker 2: The other other criteria?
- 31:06Speaker 3: Just the fact that you're challenging him makes me generally supportive.
- 31:09Speaker 9: But he's right the other christ history of firearms, right
- 31:15Speaker 9: like Colt by firing away is like the historic firearm.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Of the revolvers. But in twenty twenty one did they
- 31:23Speaker 2: announce that they were moving.
- 31:24Speaker 1: For the name of famous.
- 31:26Speaker 11: Let's let's get down to the to the y, right,
- 31:28Speaker 11: which is I genuinely wanted to know, right, it's a
- 31:33Speaker 11: trivia knowledge thing.
- 31:34Speaker 2: And I explained it's six million of them.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Yes, so I'm interested in trivia shooting.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Which which I didn't ask. Beyond that, I didn't challenge
- 31:43Speaker 5: beyond that.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Smith and Wesson had been headquartered in Massachusetts since eighteen
- 31:47Speaker 2: fifty two. They said the move was because of state
- 31:50Speaker 2: legislation that would have prohibited the company from manufacturing certain firearms.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Their migration to Tennessee started earlier this year.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Question seven.
- 32:02Speaker 2: The topic is biology. This is the female reproductive part
- 32:07Speaker 2: of a flower, which is made up of a stigma
- 32:10Speaker 2: style and overary. Topic is biology. This is the female
- 32:17Speaker 2: reproductive part of a flower, which is made up of
- 32:21Speaker 2: a stigma style and overary. Brody, I think is the
- 32:28Speaker 2: most confident right now. He's the only one who's writing, okay.
- 32:33Speaker 7: Shute, I need to channel my inner Jennifer Jones.
- 32:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna get.
- 32:39Speaker 7: My wife, who's a botanist.
- 32:42Speaker 3: She'd be good to have here right now, right now,
- 32:44Speaker 3: in my pocket.
- 32:46Speaker 2: This is the female reproductive part of a flower, which
- 32:49Speaker 2: is made up of a stigma style and ovary. This
- 32:53Speaker 2: is question seven. As a reminder, two of you will
- 32:57Speaker 2: not go on to the next round.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Does it roll over at ten?
- 33:01Speaker 12: Or is it keep?
- 33:01Speaker 3: It will roll over so it's a fresh start.
- 33:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, oh, we'll start if if the winner
- 33:08Speaker 2: of this game has nine, they will have nine to
- 33:10Speaker 2: start the next game.
- 33:13Speaker 3: So why would you can we do it where it
- 33:15Speaker 3: starts over?
- 33:16Speaker 2: We will twenty questions? Twenty twenty questions, Brody, It's common
- 33:23Speaker 2: in sports like golf where you have a cutoff and
- 33:25Speaker 2: your your score keeps going. It doesn't just golf's not
- 33:28Speaker 2: a sport. Okay, here's the question again. This is the
- 33:31Speaker 2: female reproductive part of a flower, which is made up
- 33:34Speaker 2: of a stigma, style and overy. Does everybody have an answer?
- 33:42Speaker 6: No?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Yes, I know it's one of two. I know it's
- 33:45Speaker 5: one of two.
- 33:46Speaker 13: That's real, doesn't it philology class back in the day.
- 33:49Speaker 13: Doesn't it feel more representative? Doesn't it feel more representative?
- 33:54Speaker 13: Steve if Our, winner of the whole trivia tournament one
- 33:57Speaker 13: based on twenty questions rather than just ten.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I'm not looking at that.
- 34:01Speaker 3: I'm looking at what would be most helpful to me
- 34:03Speaker 3: right now?
- 34:05Speaker 2: Getting this question right that would be helpful. Does everybody
- 34:09Speaker 2: have an answer?
- 34:12Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 34:12Speaker 2: Phil bumped the cameras It look okay, Phil, Oh yeah,
- 34:17Speaker 2: I think so looks fine, Yannes, are you ready? No,
- 34:21Speaker 2: we're waiting on you.
- 34:22Speaker 5: It looks like there's something.
- 34:25Speaker 6: I do.
- 34:26Speaker 7: I do, don't feel good about it.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I'm not gonna be able to monetize this episode. We
- 34:30Speaker 2: have Brodie dropping a f mom. We had cal showing
- 34:35Speaker 2: a naughty.
- 34:35Speaker 5: You're telling me all this time is just about the money.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Spend money that goes to conservationizations. You can't bleep that out, honest.
- 34:47Speaker 2: We're waiting on you, all right, go ahead, Corey, Corey,
- 34:51Speaker 2: We're gonna. We're gonna. This is your last chance. Everybody ready,
- 34:55Speaker 2: come on, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 34:59Speaker 2: Cal Sa saying Stamen, Seth saying stolen. You honest, what's
- 35:04Speaker 2: that say? Honest saying pedal, Randall saying stamen, Hansy saying stamen.
- 35:09Speaker 2: St He's saying pistol. Corey saying pollen. Brody saying stamen.
- 35:14Speaker 2: We have a correct answer in the room. It's Stamen's pistol.
- 35:25Speaker 2: The correct answer is pistol spelled wrong.
- 35:29Speaker 1: My goodness, listen, let me do a little thing related
- 35:35Speaker 1: to this.
- 35:36Speaker 12: Uh huh.
- 35:38Speaker 6: I'm a big scrabble fan. Okay, there's the thing that
- 35:41Speaker 6: happens in scrabble where you write something down and I
- 35:44Speaker 6: don't know what that is, but that's a word, sure,
- 35:47Speaker 6: and that is a cheap way to get a point. Yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 6: and then as that's just what just happened to me.
- 35:52Speaker 2: You spelled it right.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I didn't know the answer.
- 35:54Speaker 2: We'll give it to you.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Right, you didn't.
- 35:56Speaker 11: We should do a special episode based off of this
- 35:58Speaker 11: where we bring my Amai in and she plays Steve.
- 36:01Speaker 2: In scrabble, uh huh, And what would happen because.
- 36:05Speaker 11: She just does this stuff where she's she like plays
- 36:08Speaker 11: the old lady part up and then like gives you
- 36:10Speaker 11: a dead stare and she's like, oh, you can challenge
- 36:12Speaker 11: if you want.
- 36:16Speaker 3: And it takes a strong person to be like, yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 3: Katie tried to make it for a while. You had
- 36:20Speaker 3: to use it the sentence. I'm not agreeing to that.
- 36:24Speaker 2: That the male parts are called stamens and usually surround
- 36:28Speaker 2: the pistol. The stamen is made up of the anther
- 36:31Speaker 2: and filament. During the process of fertilization, pollen lands on
- 36:36Speaker 2: the stigma and then the oval and and then the
- 36:39Speaker 2: oval becomes the seed and ovary becomes the fruit.
- 36:42Speaker 5: It's the little kid in me that wanted pistol to
- 36:45Speaker 5: be masculine.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Well, that's why I thought. I thought I didn't have
- 36:51Speaker 3: it right, it felt man.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Question eight. The topic is cooking. The name of this
- 36:57Speaker 2: trendy Hawaiian food translates to cut into chunks and is
- 37:02Speaker 2: sometimes served as a burrito. Very confident, room quick to answer.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Here's a question again. This the name of this trendy
- 37:14Speaker 2: Hawaiian food translates to cut into chunks and is sometimes
- 37:18Speaker 2: served as a burrito. Seth now coming up with an answer.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Janis without an answer. The rest of the room is
- 37:26Speaker 2: pretty sure. This is question eight. We will get a
- 37:28Speaker 2: scorebe looking at me.
- 37:31Speaker 12: After this.
- 37:32Speaker 10: I've never been more desperate for a score update in
- 37:35Speaker 10: my life. So I can stay in the top six.
- 37:40Speaker 2: The top six that's how you need to advance, and
- 37:43Speaker 2: the score will carry over. The name of this trendy
- 37:46Speaker 2: Hawaiian food translates to cut into chunks and is sometimes
- 37:50Speaker 2: served as a burrito. Yannis is stumped. It's not picked
- 37:56Speaker 2: up as board.
- 37:58Speaker 7: I guess tea enough lately.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna be really mad if I don't have it right.
- 38:03Speaker 2: We have a confident Brodie A confident, Steve confident, Hansei,
- 38:08Speaker 2: and Randall. Corey has still not come up with an answer.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Question eight.
- 38:16Speaker 8: Man that TikTok starting to get annoyed.
- 38:18Speaker 7: Should be glad you don't have your headphones.
- 38:21Speaker 2: So you can take yours off.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Brody, try someone else to see if mine were just broken.
- 38:28Speaker 5: That worked just fine.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Actually they're a little loud. It's hardware. You say something one,
- 38:39Speaker 2: two three, I can hear there. Okay, No, I'm good. Corey,
- 38:44Speaker 2: do you have an answer?
- 38:46Speaker 3: Chunks like this guy?
- 38:51Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go answer something.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Just sitting over there, just milking it.
- 38:56Speaker 3: A lot of these man come to them from space.
- 39:01Speaker 7: Yes, Spencer, we might like drags it out the.
- 39:08Speaker 3: Chats too much about the answer.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. If Cal sang poke,
- 39:14Speaker 2: Seth saying poke, Yannis saying shish, Kebabs, Randall and Hansi
- 39:19Speaker 2: and Steve Brody saying okay something, the correct answer is pok.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Traditionally poke was rosso sounds pretty good. Traditionally poke was
- 39:39Speaker 2: rossy food that was chunked and then marinated in soy
- 39:42Speaker 2: sauce and sesame oil, but more modern versions have introduced
- 39:46Speaker 2: other types of protein and served it with avocado rice
- 39:50Speaker 2: at a mammy carrots, cucumber and delivered it in a
- 39:53Speaker 2: bowl or burrito. If you want to learn how to
- 39:55Speaker 2: make it, then go to the meteater dot com and
- 39:57Speaker 2: check out Kimmy Werner's video called how to make a
- 40:00Speaker 2: poke Bowl. Phil, we have two questions left in this episode.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Give us a scoreboard update. I think the bottom is tight.
- 40:10Speaker 5: It's very tight. Be scrapping it out the bottom. It's
- 40:16Speaker 5: just it's tight.
- 40:18Speaker 4: You've got Hansei with three points, Randall, Jannis, Corey and
- 40:23Speaker 4: cow All have four points, Wouch Seth has five, Steve
- 40:27Speaker 4: has six, and Brody is still in first place with
- 40:30Speaker 4: seven points.
- 40:31Speaker 12: Wow.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I think I'm not coming back from this one. Question
- 40:38Speaker 2: nine topic is conservation.
- 40:40Speaker 3: You getting two right answers for the question where's the multiplier?
- 40:45Speaker 2: Is there a Magmillion's multiplier in here? This is our
- 40:48Speaker 2: listener question of the week, which was one by Dan
- 40:50Speaker 2: Miller for sending this great question. Dan is going to
- 40:53Speaker 2: get a book signed by Steve. Encyclopedia Britannica defines this
- 40:58Speaker 2: two word term as quote an organism that serves as
- 41:02Speaker 2: a measure of the environmental conditions in a given locale.
- 41:08Speaker 2: The topic is conservation Encyclopedia Britannica defines this two word
- 41:13Speaker 2: term as an organism that serves as a measure of
- 41:17Speaker 2: the environmental conditions in a given locale. Hansei, do you
- 41:24Speaker 2: have this one right?
- 41:25Speaker 5: There's a chance.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I got too right. Actually, oh, there you go.
- 41:32Speaker 9: I feel like this is gonna be Uh. There's an
- 41:35Speaker 9: easy way to say this, and then there's another way
- 41:37Speaker 9: to say this.
- 41:38Speaker 3: I feel exact chat about the answer.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Sounds like Steve's confident in his answer.
- 41:46Speaker 6: You know, the more I know the answer, the less
- 41:48Speaker 6: I like the chit chat. If I'm if, I'm if
- 41:51Speaker 6: I know, if I'm clueless, I welcome the chatter. I'm
- 41:56Speaker 6: like I watched Cow's gonna say something helpful.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Seth has a little.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Before e huh, see how's it going before you except
- 42:09Speaker 3: after see.
- 42:10Speaker 2: The spelling matter. That's a common way to give a
- 42:13Speaker 2: hint that no I was, I'm just saying that's the
- 42:17Speaker 2: most common way that people give hints.
- 42:18Speaker 5: I think what Corey was getting at what you gave away.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Once this is what we're talking about.
- 42:24Speaker 7: This damn chit chat.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Let's get it.
- 42:29Speaker 5: There.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Something where someone was like this the spelling count or
- 42:33Speaker 1: most of the answers like Chartruse spelling matter.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Everybody have an answer. Cory, go ahead and reveal your
- 42:45Speaker 2: answers with Cal saying keystone species, Seth saying keystone species.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Yanna is saying indicator species, Randall saying keystone species. Hansi's
- 42:55Speaker 2: saying indicator species, Steve saying indicator species, Corey saying eco friendly,
- 43:02Speaker 2: Brody saying indicator species. We have a correct answer in
- 43:05Speaker 2: the room. It's indicator species, which is exactly what this is.
- 43:10Speaker 12: No no, no, no, no no.
- 43:12Speaker 2: The keystone species is one that's very important. This is
- 43:15Speaker 2: absolutely what we had about.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Publication.
- 43:20Speaker 2: This is Encyclopedia Britannic.
- 43:22Speaker 5: This is horse ship.
- 43:23Speaker 2: No no, no, an organism that serves as a measure
- 43:27Speaker 2: of the environmental conditions in a given local. That's an
- 43:29Speaker 2: indicator species.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Keystone species at this point in time is the exact
- 43:34Speaker 5: same thing.
- 43:35Speaker 7: There question about keystone species.
- 43:41Speaker 3: There's a long pause between horse and ship. That's bad.
- 43:45Speaker 2: What do you.
- 43:51Speaker 7: Behind that indicator species? Just be like an indicator that me.
- 43:56Speaker 7: Let me read one particular environment.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Let me read you the all of facts whether then
- 44:00Speaker 2: we'll hash this out after indicator species talking help.
- 44:09Speaker 7: Tensions are high.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Indicator species are often micro organisms and plants, but they
- 44:17Speaker 2: do come in all shapes and sizes. For example, river otters,
- 44:20Speaker 2: which are also a keystone species, are sensitive to mercury
- 44:24Speaker 2: and their numbers will quickly decline if the bottom of
- 44:26Speaker 2: the food chain collapses. Frogs or another often cited indicator
- 44:31Speaker 2: species because their skin absorbs chemical pollutants, and algae blooms
- 44:35Speaker 2: are one of the most obvious indicator species which signal
- 44:38Speaker 2: a change in the season or environment. Does that satisfy you?
- 44:43Speaker 2: Cant lgae blooms a keystone.
- 44:47Speaker 11: Species, Let's say for publication, Sure, I would ask the
- 44:52Speaker 11: exact same sentence that you just read. If you've swapped
- 44:56Speaker 11: out indicator and keystone, that would mean something different.
- 44:59Speaker 2: It would a keystone own species would not be an
- 45:02Speaker 2: LG bloom, It would not be a frog, but it
- 45:04Speaker 2: could be an otter you're selling.
- 45:09Speaker 8: I think what he's saying is it can be an
- 45:11Speaker 8: indicator species without being a keystone species. Right, but not
- 45:17Speaker 8: every keystone is at.
- 45:21Speaker 9: This point in time, like keystone is essentially debunked. Everything
- 45:27Speaker 9: can be a keystone species.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 45:31Speaker 2: A copy of this, I'm pulling it up right now. Cal,
- 45:34Speaker 2: here's a white here's the Keystone species definition from Encyclopedia Britannica.
- 45:40Speaker 2: A species that has a disproportionately large effect on the communities.
- 45:46Speaker 11: You're doing a disservice to people out there because this
- 45:49Speaker 11: is not up to date.
- 45:52Speaker 2: But you're you're arguing for an incorrect answer that wasn't
- 45:55Speaker 2: the answer.
- 45:56Speaker 11: Well okay, sorry, yeah, I don't know the definition according
- 46:01Speaker 11: to Encyclopedia Britannica. What I'm saying, though, is for like
- 46:05Speaker 11: functional biology at this point in time, keystone does not
- 46:10Speaker 11: mean what he didn't.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I still arguing, but Keystone wasn't the answer. Cal It'd
- 46:17Speaker 2: be like if you said, uh, I don't know, like
- 46:22Speaker 2: the food pyramid, You're like, the food pyramid is not
- 46:24Speaker 2: a thing anymore. It's like, well, the answer wasn't food pyramids,
- 46:26Speaker 2: so it kind of doesn't matter.
- 46:27Speaker 11: Let's say the answer is red, and uh, everybody writes
- 46:32Speaker 11: red and somebody writes roha to.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Pick this.
- 46:42Speaker 2: One question left? Give us a scoreboard up to.
- 46:45Speaker 4: Yeah, sure thing. The only two players who are safe
- 46:47Speaker 4: and are moving on for sure.
- 46:50Speaker 7: How's going over there?
- 46:50Speaker 4: Steve are Brody and Steve. He has eight points, Steve
- 46:56Speaker 4: has seven. Then coming up behind them, I'm going backwards
- 46:59Speaker 4: this time we have Honest and Seth with five points,
- 47:02Speaker 4: and then cal Corey, Hanse and Randall all have four
- 47:05Speaker 4: points apiece.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Wow.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Question ten a tie breaker if there will be a tiebreaker,
- 47:11Speaker 2: if we need to do a tiebreaker to move on.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is hunting. Which turkey subspecies is
- 47:18Speaker 2: found in states like Louisiana, Kansas, and Washington.
- 47:24Speaker 10: It is as though you chose this question to eliminate me.
- 47:31Speaker 2: What are states like? What's what's that?
- 47:35Speaker 3: States like?
- 47:36Speaker 2: Which turkey subspecies is found?
- 47:44Speaker 3: Well, it's like Washington. Do you mean such as Sure
- 47:50Speaker 3: or these in states similar to you know, Washington?
- 47:57Speaker 2: Which turkey subspecies is found in state such as Louisiana, Kansas,
- 48:03Speaker 2: and Washington.
- 48:04Speaker 5: Spencer you example of how algae bloom can be a keystone?
- 48:08Speaker 2: Sure, I would like an example.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Algae bloom is a new species.
- 48:13Speaker 3: I feel like algae Okay.
- 48:17Speaker 9: It's almost like you wrote this one just because you
- 48:19Speaker 9: wanted to stir the possum.
- 48:21Speaker 3: I feel like this is an arguing question.
- 48:24Speaker 2: The question Tanner question nine, you're saying this.
- 48:28Speaker 6: Here one, Well, there's a lot of problems with One
- 48:31Speaker 6: thing I'll point out is a lot of people think
- 48:32Speaker 6: the whole subspecies thing is bogus.
- 48:36Speaker 3: So it's the whole question is based off that.
- 48:38Speaker 5: There's one argument.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer? Phil remind us who is
- 48:46Speaker 2: fighting to move on at the bottom.
- 48:49Speaker 6: That doesn't ever matter because the game you're not rolling
- 48:52Speaker 6: it over, so he still gets to be in the lead.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yes, but two people will not advance for a chance
- 48:57Speaker 2: that anyways.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 48:59Speaker 1: If they stay here?
- 49:00Speaker 2: They could there's no way to catch up.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Brody could falter.
- 49:05Speaker 6: You're saying no, but Brody's not going anywhere if you're
- 49:08Speaker 6: losing that if you're losing so bad right now, you
- 49:11Speaker 6: can't stay you ain't winning.
- 49:13Speaker 2: But what if what if Brody gets is wrong? Say
- 49:16Speaker 2: and one of these people at the bottom gets it right,
- 49:18Speaker 2: there's only like two points separating them?
- 49:20Speaker 3: Really four points?
- 49:23Speaker 4: Well, yeah, case Brodie, Brody has eight, Steve has seven.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Everyone else is fighting it out depending on where they
- 49:29Speaker 4: land and where a tiebreaker lands.
- 49:31Speaker 3: You and I can sit that might make sense.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Joannis and Seth have five everywhere, and cal Corey, Hanse
- 49:37Speaker 4: and Randall have the Does everybody have an answer for this?
- 49:42Speaker 3: I got a problem with this question, everybody.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer?
- 49:46Speaker 3: You're ready to fight.
- 49:48Speaker 12: You know what's going to knock the fight right out
- 49:50Speaker 12: if he gets it right, if I get it right.
- 50:01Speaker 2: And my failure answers. We have Cal sayg Rio Grande,
- 50:04Speaker 2: Seth saying Eastern, Giannis saying Eastern, Randall saying Merriams, Hansi
- 50:09Speaker 2: saying Marriams, Steve saying Eastern, Corey saying Merriam, Brody saying Eastern.
- 50:16Speaker 2: The correct answer is eastern, and I don't know what
- 50:20Speaker 2: that means for our game.
- 50:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Factoid and then Phil is going to tell us who
- 50:29Speaker 2: is moving on and who it was the only Turkey
- 50:31Speaker 2: I actually Louisiana only has Easterns, Kansas has Rios and Easterns,
- 50:37Speaker 2: and Washington has Merriams, Rios and Easterns. Although Easterns seem
- 50:41Speaker 2: especially out of place in Washington, Rio's and Merriams aren't
- 50:45Speaker 2: native to the state either. According to n WTF, all
- 50:48Speaker 2: turkeys that live in the Pacific Northwest are introduced populations,
- 50:52Speaker 2: So the only answer could possibly be Easterns because that's
- 50:57Speaker 2: the only subspecies found in louis.
- 51:00Speaker 1: They're probably there.
- 51:01Speaker 10: Probably there probably states like Louisiana and Kansas that have Miriams.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Similar. Yeah, similar to Phil tell Us, who is not
- 51:10Speaker 2: joining us in episode four.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Well, the players who are joining us are Brodie, Steve, Jannison, Seth.
- 51:20Speaker 4: We need to go to a tiebreaker between cal, Corey, Hansei,
- 51:24Speaker 4: and Randa, who all have stop the two players.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Who are closest. We're going to pause the game to
- 51:37Speaker 3: do this.
- 51:37Speaker 7: You can just tell me to go.
- 51:39Speaker 2: We have a tiebreaker ready, so you're gonna sit back
- 51:43Speaker 2: and watch him squirm.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Corey, cal Hansei, and Randall need to go to a tiebreaker,
- 51:51Speaker 4: and the two closest in the tiebreaker will move on.
- 51:54Speaker 2: This is going to be a question about like a
- 51:56Speaker 2: lion ring Roman times like four feet.
- 52:00Speaker 9: I feel like the family dog tied up by the
- 52:03Speaker 9: leash and bumper and they're taken off.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I forgot you back there, and it's like, yeah, there's
- 52:08Speaker 5: a rabbit ahead of there, not going to remember, and
- 52:10Speaker 5: you're not going to remember.
- 52:11Speaker 10: So the winners of this, the two winners will move
- 52:14Speaker 10: on to play the next.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Ten questions that are four question disadvantage. That is precisely right.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's as painful as it sounds.
- 52:26Speaker 5: Pressure free.
- 52:27Speaker 2: The tie breaking topic is hunting what percentage of whitetail
- 52:33Speaker 2: deer we're harvested on private land in the Midwest in
- 52:37Speaker 2: twenty twenty one. And this is via the National Deer Association.
- 52:41Speaker 2: They categorize the Midwest as thirteen states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska,
- 52:49Speaker 2: North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Here's the question again,
- 52:55Speaker 2: what percentage of whitetail deer we're harvested on private land
- 53:00Speaker 2: in the Midwest in twenty twenty one. Even if you're
- 53:04Speaker 2: not in the running to be eliminated, like you to
- 53:06Speaker 2: play along, we could potentially have somebody hit it right
- 53:08Speaker 2: on the nose and add an extra to one hundred
- 53:10Speaker 2: dollars donation. Answer to one decimal point.
- 53:14Speaker 5: So I am confused.
- 53:17Speaker 9: Okay, is this a percentage of the percent North American
- 53:21Speaker 9: population of white tail deer?
- 53:23Speaker 2: No, just of all the deer harvested in the Midwest,
- 53:25Speaker 2: what percentage of those deer.
- 53:27Speaker 5: Were harvested on private land?
- 53:29Speaker 2: That's right, and Phil's screen is showing you the states
- 53:33Speaker 2: that this question is referencing. What percentage of white tailed
- 53:38Speaker 2: deer we're harvested on private land in the Midwest in
- 53:42Speaker 2: twenty twenty one, and as Cal pointed out, this is
- 53:44Speaker 2: the percentage of all the deer that were harvested in
- 53:47Speaker 2: the Midwest.
- 53:50Speaker 5: I always get a.
- 53:51Speaker 9: Sense that Kentucky and Missouri they don't necessarily like being
- 53:57Speaker 9: included lumped into that group.
- 54:00Speaker 6: Well because a lot of them think they're Southerners mid seven,
- 54:02Speaker 6: even though they can ice fish at times.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Does everybody you know what.
- 54:08Speaker 3: I just went by, because the wine's being the same number.
- 54:11Speaker 3: What percentage of Spencer's questions are flawed?
- 54:14Speaker 2: Is this one of them?
- 54:16Speaker 7: Twenty?
- 54:19Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Take that as a yes? Go ahead
- 54:25Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Seth saying seventy seven,
- 54:29Speaker 2: Giannis saying seventy one point five, Steve saying eighty eight,
- 54:34Speaker 2: Brody's saying eighty two point on. Our four competitors left.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Because I'm firing with sixty percent, Hansi with seventy eight percent,
- 54:44Speaker 2: Randall with eighty six point two percent, and Cal with
- 54:48Speaker 2: sixty four percent. Hold up your boards one more time
- 54:50Speaker 2: for me.
- 54:51Speaker 5: The four people left, keep them down, you guys that
- 54:53Speaker 5: are way ahead of us.
- 54:54Speaker 2: The correct answer is ninety one percent, meaning Randal and Hansi.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Please point out that that was the closest in the room.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Steve is the closest, and this should be like, this
- 55:08Speaker 2: should be like more like Steve, you're than three percentage points.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I would have hosted it like, oh my gosh, Steve
- 55:13Speaker 3: almost got it exactly right. But the people of the
- 55:16Speaker 3: tiebreaker look.
- 55:18Speaker 2: And we had Random who was five and Hansei who
- 55:22Speaker 2: was thirteen percent.
- 55:23Speaker 5: Off that Hey, I really want to thank you for
- 55:25Speaker 5: this opportunity.
- 55:29Speaker 2: You didn't throw that game, did you.
- 55:31Speaker 12: H Oh.
- 55:33Speaker 5: I just wanted to believe that there was more opportunity
- 55:36Speaker 5: on public land.
- 55:37Speaker 2: He's optimistic. I think there is.
- 55:39Speaker 14: It's just whether people use it or not, right, yeah, yeah,
- 55:42Speaker 14: and then you like get into those QDMA estates are
