- 0:29his laugh. He picked a perfect time to luck in his mortgage. He's
- 0:33the kindest, sweetest, most generous man ever to drive through my living room.
- 0:38I'll pay for most of this. He may not be perfect, but
- 0:42here's my dad. Homer gave me a kidney. It wasn't his. I
- 0:47didn't need it, and it came postage too, but still a lovely gesture.

- 1:07Dude, Welcome to four figure discap, the podcast where we always have
- 1:26CHACUOZI is just for our dogs. This week we hit to review episode J
- 1:27A B F A zero seven. It is Springfield. Up, I am
- 1:32danu, I am guying. Oh, you've just put a smile of a
- 1:34no ill thinking about to jet the dog in a jacuzzie. I think,
- 1:37I mean hopefully enjoying it a lot more than Sanders little helped it did.
- 1:38Not enjoying it and all cruelty. My top thing of this episode, or
- 1:44just that scene in particular, is like killing dolphins and not looking after the
- 1:47dog. I don't like this at all. No, I'm not sure the
- 1:49Simpsons are taking to wealth all that well, but it seems like the kind
- 1:53of things that rich people would do. It does, yeah, well,
- 1:56behind behind every fortune is a great crime, as you say. But I'm
- 2:00sure that Jack would have a very nice time in a in a in a
- 2:02hot tub, I hope. So I'm picturing he hates bath, So he
- 2:06hates bu I think he's had a proper bath in like a year. He
- 2:08refused, I can tell he just refuses to get in the shower, just
- 2:14hates it. But you get to the beach or whatever. He's fine because
- 2:15he's in control. Natural dog. Yeah, I know what it is about
- 2:19dogs. I love swimming, but its getting clean. He hates getting cleaned.
- 2:23It's like Alliott, just throw him into the ocean. Well, the
- 2:28thing is, we've worked it out and we've cracked the coat, and how
- 2:30to get him into the bath is just go crazy with the bubble bath.
- 2:34There's ship loads of bubbles in there. He'll stay in there for an hour.
- 2:36He just loves it. Won't get out of the bath. He cracks
- 2:38the ships to get out. Up until now it's just been like, dude,
- 2:40dangle lollies over the bath and have him like dive in for it in
- 2:43order to get him in there. But now he's actually bathing, which is
- 2:46good. This is what Lobly Louise does to me to have a shower.
- 2:49Yeah, helf over the bar, you know what I mean? Actual snickers
- 2:57do that when I want to knock nickel off. What's that sneakers? Because
- 3:00that well exactly it's choffle the nuts. But how you do it? Anyway,
- 3:05I'm doing all right, Yes, feeling pretty good about life. Amazon
- 3:08updates. So basically you tell me off air, right, So I think
- 3:12it was on going down to South Pike. I think it was yes,
- 3:15talking about the recent shenanigans that have been going down with Amazon and how you
- 3:17you're going for the triple the triple threat, aren't you the Triple Crown or
- 3:22Triple threat? On four figured discap? Oh, that's right, it's triple
- 3:23threat. But the ups the The basic story this was I placed an order
- 3:32on Amazon during Black Friday, summer Monday for a nice pair of jeans,
- 3:37and I don't know, Amazon tracking usually pretty good, but they were saying,
- 3:42oh, we're not sure when this is going to arrive. It might
- 3:44arrived by this date, but maybe not. And I wasn't getting updates or
- 3:46anything like. That's just dawned me though. You didn't give much time Black
- 3:49the twenty first, that's true, that's true. I think I maybe waited
- 3:53like a day, was waited four days. Well, we talked about as
- 3:59well delivering. You just were positively orgasmic about they're gonna bring it up our
- 4:03house next day. It happened today, like I literally ordered something last night
- 4:06as I was going to bed, order something last night, and it came
- 4:09on Shome today. So there you go. You know what I'm talking about.
- 4:12Yeah, but anyway, I'd ordered these genes. They didn't arrive on
- 4:16time, and I'm getting the feeling I don't know if these are lost in
- 4:19the system or whatever. Yeah, but let's contact one of our friends at
- 4:23Amazon HQ and see what we can find out. The very helpful person said,
- 4:28oh, look, really sorry about that. Yeah, we seem to
- 4:30have lost track of it. Tell you what, We'll refound your money.
- 4:31And because the genes have gone up in priced since you ordered them, here's
- 4:35a thirty dollars gift card. Doesn't make sense to me, No to me,
- 4:39but I'm gonna roll with it. Apologize to who's hearing this story for
- 4:42the second time. If you've listened to this podcast, it was just as
- 4:44fascinating. It's the gift that keeps on giving. But here's the update.
- 4:47Yeah, yeah, I'd received an update not from Amazon for the astraya post
- 4:53saying your thing's a arriving, And I'm like, damn, you know,
- 4:57got the money back, free money, got a gift got on top of
- 5:00that, and I might be getting the item that I ordered. Jeff may
- 5:03have paid you to have these jeans. That's correct. Jeff might be paying
- 5:06to clothe me. But then I'm, like I said on the other podcast,
- 5:10I'm like Zuckerberg at the end of the Social airp and I'm just refreshing,
- 5:13refreshing. Where is it? It's just us in life now, just
- 5:15refreshing, refreshing. It really is, because you can get that it's on
- 5:19its way, but it needs to switch over to it's coming today. It's
- 5:25like it's like Christmas every day. Yeah, so actually it's specially be coming
- 5:30today, is it? Well? No, No, that was the other
- 5:31day, wasn't it. It was Tuesday? No. No, Another package
- 5:36arrived because I've ordered something else, but this one said oh, you'll be
- 5:40getting this on the twelfth, And again with the tracking, it was like,
- 5:44yeah, it's not saying that it's it's it's you never got it.
- 5:47Yeah. Yeah, so I've received this other package. I mean, and
- 5:51I saw the guy coming. I said, that looks small. But anyways,
- 5:59I and I'm like, this is a book that I was really looking
- 6:00forward to as well. I'm like, it's pretty good, I guess,
- 6:05but now I don't know. It's it's a adds a little bit of spice
- 6:10steel, it springs a little bit of salt and pepper on the everyday existence
- 6:13that you know there's a package out there with my name on it. I
- 6:15may get it, I may not, you know, I mean, one
- 6:18of these days I'll just be sitting around the house going wearing the same old
- 6:24pants and then knock, knock, knock, he's appearing new pitts that I'd
- 6:28forgotten all the pet You has the door, that man not wearing no pets.
- 6:33I think you've been waiting for these. I am misplaced in my pants.
- 6:40I'm just going to answer the door in the tower from there to grocery
- 6:43grocery bags. I'm mixed up. You know, we'll have to speak.
- 6:47I'm all wearing a towel and I've misplaced my pants. Both both top quality
- 6:51gags. But that's the upshot triple threat. You a double feature I am,
- 6:56indeed I am. I'm a double feature creature in that I've got almost
- 7:00everything I ordered from our favorite online retailer, friend of the pot of Amazon.
- 7:06But but they did at least give you money. They did. You're
- 7:10gonna get a freaking gift card you were hoping to get from their serve.
- 7:12Maybe this was it it as well there because the universe works itself out,
- 7:16mate. It's a self regulating or we did. We're giving Amazon a lot
- 7:21of airtime, recent lot. It consumes your life, mate, and yours
- 7:25to some degree. I buy some stuff and then I go outside new pants.
- 7:30I would we would to a sanitary party on the weekend. I did.
- 7:33Yes, a friend of the Lovely Luids and a friend of mine.
- 7:36If I'm going to be saying this, I had her. She's of a
- 7:43certain age, more my age than your age. Fit. There's a subtle
- 7:50clue in there, anyone who wants to pick it up. But yeah,
- 7:56Karlie, very nice person, through a very nice party which was Zenadu themed
- 8:01because she loved the movie when she was growing up. And then she'll we
- 8:03watched it and went ooh, it was great. Because her husband, Mitchell,
- 8:07I think, is a top guy, not Mitch Grint. Also we
- 8:11see he's the top guy, so he's not either defended. The movie,
- 8:16guys are gonna be so much fun. By the way, next movie,
- 8:20guys, we're gonna be all in the same room. I just feel like
- 8:22the vibe would be better and I make the editing fucking easier. Jesus Christ.
- 8:28The connection issues between yourself, myself and him. Sometimes it's all over
- 8:31the shop. It certainly is. Yeah, I mean it's I think it's
- 8:35easy when there's two people, even when you're not in the same room.
- 8:37But yeah, wrangling three distinct voices, particularly when one of them is me
- 8:43and one of them is Mitch. Yeah, that's that's an ask. But
- 8:46it looks like you guys have voted for the patrons. By the way,
- 8:48I you're a supporter of ours on patroon, you get to vote for what
- 8:50movie view review for movie Guys. It looks like it's going to be jingle
- 8:54all the way. I am in shock, which was not half which was
- 9:01not But look, because I said to me, I'm like, I'm looking
- 9:05forward to going back and just poking fun at the ridiculousness of the film.
- 9:09You know, I don't want to sort of, you know, shove my
- 9:11hand too much and sign up and get the Movie Guys podcast because it'll be
- 9:16fun. Just you know, there was this stage where we were basically ignoring
- 9:20the fact that the most well built man on the planet. We'd sort of
- 9:26run out of scenarios where he's like he's a killer robot from the future,
- 9:28or he's you know, coming to the Barbari and he's like, he's an
- 9:31average guy in suburbia who wants to get a toy for his kids, like
- 9:35that was his choice, onsuming you absolutely like, I'm not buying this kindergarten
- 9:43cop. He's still kind of like a tough guy net though, wasn't he
- 9:45Yeah, yeah, kidding, Udon copp. The comedy is that you know
- 9:46he's hard, but he's also you know, looking after kids, whereas this
- 9:50is gonna like you're watching it like this could be anyone. They're trying,
- 9:52you're trying to act his. It's almost like, you know, it's a
- 9:54Jamie Jamie I remember, like Jamie runs off annoys, Jamie come back,
- 10:00you know, I think it again. We're sort of jumping ahead. I
- 10:03think it would be It would be hilarious if Phil, like Great Phil happened
- 10:09and Arnold had sort of swapped rolls because Jamie and Arnold being like because yeah,
- 10:13and then Arnold's sort of being the the uber manho is kind of like
- 10:16your wives cookies. But yeah, that would be hilarious but also very kind
- 10:22of like cliche. It'd be tough guy being the one that's swinging the wife
- 10:24where I just feel like Phil Harton was just so perfectly made for that role.
- 10:28Though that's true. I mean, yeah, there's a great joy in
- 10:30the fact that Arnold is kind of in that Phil is kind of one upping
- 10:33the old alpha male and just the cuddle of his wife and the Yeah.
- 10:39All right, so that enough talking about that, because we could talk about
- 10:41Jim all the way and you never know what scrooged or what else. I
- 10:46chose Miraicle on thirty fourth straight. Could could be a late comer. Yeah,
- 10:50or when you're closing the pole to Sorrow you go all the ways of
- 10:54like fifty four percent. Come on, see this guy there in the back
- 11:03anyway, but we'll do that. How did we get to talking about that
- 11:05about Mitch and movie guy? Oh yeah, Carly's just a refresh party,
- 11:13such a pressure memory. We were talking about the party that I'd ended on
- 11:16the weekend Carl's husband, Mitch got his head. I wanted to do for
- 11:22the first only it sucks. It's not a good movie. It's like I
- 11:26wish I had an animal and a lot of people in the crab go.
- 11:31It's not a great movie. But yeah, we're all having kind of fun
- 11:33and he also blew his wife's birth month because I mean that they're they were
- 11:41holding a party like six months later. Oh okay, yeah, and he
- 11:45said, why was she doing that? I think she wanted to have it
- 11:48outside, okay, because I've got a fairly nice place and they set up
- 11:52the garden very nicely because it's like a monumental age. So you're having it
- 11:56yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know. Oh you know when
- 12:01when Galli had her birthday in Junior heard us like Joly and then he talked
- 12:07about a date that they hadn'ts like, we don't have been going out for
- 12:09a few months we were married. It's just like, oh, Mitch,
- 12:13because everyone loves Mitch's a top guy. And then Gai made a very sweet
- 12:16speech. So well, no, that was good. It was a very
- 12:18it was a very nice time, except I was getting eaten a live by
- 12:20mosquitos. Oh yeah, and I was next to a nice fellow. But
- 12:26he was constantly saying, yeah, Mosquitos never bothered me. Oh they never
- 12:30talk about it, like, yeah, well they're treating motherfucking says the buffet
- 12:35Nicola. When she gets a bit of my mosquito, she like flares right
- 12:37up, like I'm talking like, you know, giant cookie shaped. Oh
- 12:41but you know, they just go, yeah, she's led you to everything,
- 12:43that woman, I led you to everything except you Exceptano's good eleven.
- 12:48So yeah, that was my weekend. How have you been? Hasn't been
- 12:52well again? So that's why I think we mentioned last week. That's why
- 12:54we recorded a week a day later. Maybe we didn't say on the actual
- 12:58show, but Jet wasn't well last it was he and that's correct. I
- 13:01took him so our man Michael bout the vet right. We love this guy,
- 13:05so I took him to front of the pod. I took him to
- 13:07the vet right, and the Vet was like, all right, it's going
- 13:09to cost you know, for the first injection that he needs for his authorise.
- 13:11Sixty seven dollars is going to come back for the first four weeks,
- 13:13but it's gonna be one hundred and ten dollars for the first three times.
- 13:16On top of that, because we have the page to be seen, so
- 13:18it's going to be about, you know, nearly two hundred dollars a pop,
- 13:20so about six hundred bucks for the first three weeks, but then after
- 13:22that it's only going to be about sixty seven dollars each for each injection.
- 13:24I was like, okay, cool, the time's going to be six hundred
- 13:26bucks for three weeks. Caught up Michael's vett, He's like, yeah,
- 13:30just cut. He's in his receptions, is like, yep, you'll bring
- 13:31the injection meeting on Sunday. I'm like, cool, get there there for
- 13:35about an hour waiting for my turn because there's lots of people there obviously.
- 13:39Well, he's like the doctor's borders of Pets. Yeah, and everyone comes
- 13:41to see him at his at his van. Yeah. Yeah, So he
- 13:43comes there and it sounds shunk, but I'm telling you, like, it's
- 13:46the greatest thing. Guess the jet no appearance fee of course, because he's
- 13:50the man. How much you reckon you charge me? I'm fifteen dollars,
- 13:56I was gonna say twenty Yeah, so unpleasantly said even more pleasant, fifteen
- 14:01dollars. What can we get this guy for Christmas? I have to give
- 14:05him something, right, Let's do something for me because he literally it's going
- 14:07to cost me sixty dollars where it would have cost me to the eight hundred
- 14:11you had the vet. That's mental, right, A good vet is worth
- 14:15their weight in motherfucking platinum. Yeah, so let's shout out to all the
- 14:18good vets out there, particularly a man Michael for looking after Jet as well
- 14:22as he is. Because I'm like, you're taking a breakut of Christmas because
- 14:24he goes, you have to come each week up for the next month before
- 14:28you have to get for the first month, you have to have a weekly
- 14:30and then it's every three months for these injections. Right, He's like,
- 14:31I'll wait this a week. I'm like, what a fucking legend. He's
- 14:35even coming like Christmas week? Does he have like a big white beard and
- 14:41a red suit. It's kind of like a little bit bushy than yours,
- 14:43kind of but not a big redsuit. But he's He's just a legend.
- 14:48I'm in love with this guy. He sounds fantastic. Yeah yeah, what
- 14:52a good man. Yeah yeah, So I highly recommend if you ever in
- 14:54the Geelong area you need a vet. Michael Bell seven from seven am avalon
- 14:58Raceway in his absolute fucking legend sounds sketchy. We know it's not, though,
- 15:05trust Michael, it is not. So that was my weekend. I
- 15:07was just just back on the men. Now he's got him. Literally,
- 15:09he went to the vet, right, because he had this little little spell.
- 15:11Went to the vet. He was and he recovered. She gave him
- 15:15these tablets right for like the painkillers, and they were the wrong tablets,
- 15:18and she gave him ointment. Right, this is the kicker. I took
- 15:22him to the vet. She gave him ointment for his eyes because he conjunctivitis.
- 15:26Right. The cream was human cream they can just get from the chemist.
- 15:28She changed me four times. What it can gefin? I did obviously
- 15:31look at She put a big giant sticker over it that says, you know,
- 15:33for animal use only keep out of rich your children over the actual guide
- 15:37for I've given this to kids three years and over, please use it like
- 15:41this. It was human cream from the chemist. Excuse me. She changed
- 15:45me seventy dollars for it, and it's like twenty three dollars at the chemist.
- 15:48I think you need to who do you contact these days scams like this?
- 15:52I was like, what, Nicholas like, this is the cream that
- 15:54I used? And I was like, no, no, it says for
- 15:56animal saw. She ripped the sticker off. She's like, that's the same.
- 16:00She got the box out for Nicholas used. Yeah, she got the
- 16:02box out of the pantries, like it's the same one. I'm like,
- 16:03are you fucking kidding me? They just cream, They could just go and
- 16:07bite themselves from the chemist conduct the worst. The painkillers made him completely dehydrated
- 16:15and he couldn't sit still. And he was like, oh, I was
- 16:18up to like five am one night because he couldn't sit still in his pant
- 16:21and he's moving around. He's restless, and Michael said, he goes,
- 16:23oh, you should shouldn't give you those. He didn't need those at all,
- 16:26he would have been fine. I'm like, so I paid all this
- 16:27money for nothing. I know, I sound like conspiracy theorist about vets.
- 16:33I know there's probably a million, no probably this is what. There's five
- 16:37percent of vets. Probably no good, this is one of them. Yeah,
- 16:40exactly. I'm not saying that bad again. No, but but that
- 16:42was my weekend. Besides that, that's just been fucking hot, and I've
- 16:47just been trying to keep cool. Certainly has been there. Yeah, I
- 16:49mean I was watching the car and I caught a glimpse of herself in the
- 16:53in the rearview mirror. I'm like, oh my god, I'm literally melting.
- 16:59The elephant man sweating like Rogerie. But it was incredible. How about
- 17:03that movie terrify me as a kid, The Elephant Man. It was just
- 17:07on TV when I was flicking through once and it's like that scene came in
- 17:10and I was like, I didn't realize as a kid that he wasn't he
- 17:12was wearing makeup and shots. That's what the guy looked like. Just get
- 17:15the funk out of me. I'm sure I've told the story about you know,
- 17:18my folks taking me see The Elephant Man at the cinema when I was
- 17:21about like ten or eleven years old. If you did, I don't remember.
- 17:23Oh, stay cheapest spring for that. We'll get to it, and
- 17:27we'll get it a little while after. You know, Dan to one guy
- 17:30just sort of, you know, talked ship. Yeah. I would have
- 17:33been, yeah, about ten or eleven years old, and Bob and Margaret
- 17:38were either trying to expand my artistic horizons or more likely too cheap to spring
- 17:44for a sit up. So what's his name? John? The guy played
- 17:47him John, John hurt John hurts it. Yeah, he had the alien
- 17:48come out of his chest. Yeah, in alien. So we went to
- 17:52see The Elephant Man. At what point were you just like, well,
- 17:56I mean, because that was what you call a sense the kid and means
- 18:00i'd cry the drop of a hat. Yeah, oh yeah, I mean
- 18:03I still but I think at that stage I was kind of like, I
- 18:07think Bob was a bit worried actually, because I'd be like they'd have that
- 18:11you know, little harp seals and how they sort of clubbed them to get
- 18:15that's sad ship that said. I remember saying that was just like, oh,
- 18:18that's so sad, and I got really emotional about it at the point
- 18:22where I was like, even, I know this is embarrassing, but I
- 18:23can't stop. But yeah. We went to see The Elephant Man, and
- 18:27you know, I was budding film nerd and all that kind of stuff and
- 18:30realized, wow, this is really quite well made and moving and all this.
- 18:36But you know, they're treating the Elepha Man like shit. They're treating
- 18:38that poor bastard really badly. And there's a point in it which I'm sure
- 18:45you remember. He's set up shop at the hospital. Everyone's reading him very
- 18:48nicely, very respectfully. But the circus that used to where he was the
- 18:56attraction, Yeah, yeah, they find him and like the guy who used
- 19:02to just treat him terribly, comes in and tries to you know, brings
- 19:06in a couple of street walkers, and they basically have a party in the
- 19:08Elephant Man's room and he's built this lovely modelist church and they just fucking smash
- 19:12it. They try to make him drink and everyone's just like, oh,
- 19:15he's so ugly. And I'm like, this is the worst fucking thing I've
- 19:18ever seen. Because I hold the mirror in front of his basically he's never
- 19:21seen him because at the hospital they covered him the mirror. We see his
- 19:25screens when he sees himself. Yeah, I was like, oh my god.
- 19:27I mean, Elephant Man is like legitimately one of I mean, I
- 19:33remember thinking I walked out of that's him going, I'm different from when I
- 19:36walked in, because I thought this is an incredible work of art and it
- 19:38makes me feel things I've never felt more. But the same time was also,
- 19:41this is traumatizing because he knew it was like partially true. Ye yeah
- 19:47yeah. Directed by David Lynch, one of the great filmmakers of all time.
- 19:51So sorry that story went on for a little bit, but stay tuned
- 19:55for the med guys Elephant Man. That'll be a fun one. It was
- 20:02like, can we do space jam with Lebron? The general theme is movies
- 20:07that fucked You up? But Springfield ups. Honestly, I went into this
- 20:12having slight memories of it. I remember being like a different concept. But
- 20:17I feel like from the get go it adorned to me that this has to
- 20:19be treated as a non canon episode. Yeah, because margin Homer met at
- 20:25high school, right or they started dating in high school, like you never
- 20:26saw much for the first time until suddenly to the way we was right then
- 20:32they broke sort of like the reck condit and had they had their first kiss
- 20:36at camp. I guess they didn't remember the kiss. They didn't know who
- 20:37they were, So that was at the way we weren't this one here they're
- 20:41just at the same school. Yeah, it's almost just like taking It's like,
- 20:45we want to do this concept of the UP series and just do it
- 20:48in Springfield, and they're just which is it's a pretty fun idea. Yeah.
- 20:52Yeah. So, I mean I don't blame them from breaking from Cannon
- 20:56or continuity or anything like that. That's not cannon, but it's just you
- 21:00have to you can't be annoyed at these things. It's just like I just
- 21:02chewed it as non canon. You know, I think where we were thirteen
- 21:07episodes into season eighteen, We've got a lot of episodes under the belt here.
- 21:10So I think at this stage, if you're in for the long haul,
- 21:14you're probably going, Okay, I'm going to accept this, this,
- 21:18this, this, and this about life in Springfield and life for the Simpson
- 21:22family. I'm going to hold these is as as gospel as canon. Anything
- 21:26else. We can sort of play a bit fast and loose with I's yeah,
- 21:30yeah, So, and like I said, when you've got a concept
- 21:33like let's revisit these characters every eight years and see how their lives are changed
- 21:37and all that kind of stuff. Have you seen a series that it's based
- 21:41on I have. Yeah. I mean, I'm not sure if they still
- 21:44make them. The guy that made he passed away. Yeah, he was
- 21:48a very good filmmaker. Who Yeah, he passed away a few years ago,
- 21:51I think, and wonder belief it was he passed away? Was it
- 21:53two thousand and one? The feeling was somewhere in the twenty tens. Michael
- 22:00had passed away in twenty twenty one, Okay, so oh yeah, yeah,
- 22:03So it was very recent Yeah, now I've seen a few of them
- 22:07because yeah, his series was the Seven Up series. He started with a
- 22:11group of English school children sixty four at the age of seven. Yeah,
- 22:15so they made it to sixty four or sixty three, So the first film
- 22:18was titled Seven Up. Yeah, so the first one was in sixty four,
- 22:22So in sixty four, that's when he started filming them. Yeah,
- 22:25what I forgot when I forgot when I sort of checked out of them.
- 22:29But there was a really moving one. It was maybe around thirty five,
- 22:33ye, because we've got forty two up in ninety eight with that been it,
- 22:37maybe yeah, but I certainly remember the thirty five one because I think
- 22:41this was the one that really stuck with me because there was a little boy
- 22:45named Neil who was kind of like, not the breakout star of it,
- 22:48but he was like this very precocious little boy, but very charming. I
- 22:51was like, Oh, this kid, could you know, not this the
- 22:55other kids. Oh, this kid could really be someone. You know,
- 22:56He's got that little spark about him. And by the time we reached thirty
- 23:00he clearly had some mental health issues and then he was living in a van
- 23:03all this kind of stuff, and you know he had great potential, but
- 23:08you know, the demon sort of got the best of him in some way.
- 23:11You can have all the potential in the world, but you need the
- 23:12right direction of people around you. Yeah, but everyone sort of rallied around
- 23:17him up to see him in thirty five ars, and I think he got
- 23:19a bit of help, I believe, So I hope that's the case.
- 23:22But I do remember that everyone's kind of like, oh, it was just
- 23:26lovable. I'm sorry this has happened to him, but you know, hopefully
- 23:27he can find his way. So thirty five Up was in ninety one.
- 23:30Yeah, yeah, I think first of all, it's just a really interesting
- 23:34social experiment. Australia has done a similar thing, really. Yeah. The
- 23:41filmmaker Gillian Armstrong who made my brilliant career and she made a terrific version of
- 23:47Little Women in the nineties. She did a similar thing with maybe a trio
- 23:52of friends from Sydney, sort of catching them at a very young age and
- 23:56then in their teenage years early adults. I want to say, one of
- 23:59them is called smokes and Lollies. Okay, yeah, but I've only seen
- 24:03bits and pieces of those as well. But I mean, yeah, I
- 24:04just think it's a fascinating experiment. There's a quote that I think appted based
- 24:08on his movies on, based his movies on, which was, you know,
- 24:11show me the child at seven, and I'll show you the man,
- 24:14I'll show you the person and he wanted to see. Is that actually the
- 24:18case? So you're right, by the way, Smokes and Lollies was in
- 24:21nineteen seventy six. Okay, great, Yeah, And I don't know how
- 24:22many Jillian Armstrong made, but I think there was more. It's certainly more
- 24:26than one. That was just the menu of a canteen at the school.
- 24:30Six. Wasn't it very good? Oh? Dear spring filled up? Yeah?
- 24:47I mean, like you said, I liked the concept of it.
- 24:48It was interesting. I'd never heard of this up series. I just thought
- 24:52that it sort of didn't couldn't work out what it was going to be.
- 24:55But are you going to be just taking the piss out of this or you're
- 24:56going to start trying it? Because it was almost like by the end it
- 24:59is like, no, you gotta treat this like it's cannon and all that.
- 25:00All the people around Springfield are saying, oh, no, you know,
- 25:03we we love Homer. He's got a great lif blah blahlah. I'm
- 25:06like, yeah, but none of the first half makes sense if you're gonna
- 25:07treat this last half like it's cannon. Yeah, And it sort of became
- 25:11a how you Homer realizing he's got a great life story, And I was
- 25:14like, I don't need this shit. Just just go full full blown with
- 25:17the concept. Yeah, here's the thing about it. They could have even
- 25:19I would have appreciated, like, treat like I said, treat like non
- 25:22cannon and show this that the family and the people in Springfield when they're older
- 25:26and what they're doing when you jump ahead even for what happened to Homer when
- 25:30he's sixty four, you know what I mean? That kind of keep going
- 25:32with it. Not a bad idea. Actually, that would have been more
- 25:33interesting to me. Yeah, what you're talking about with the the end part
- 25:38where what's his name, Desmond Declan Desbert, Yeah, Eric Gidel, Yeah,
- 25:44Eric Idle, it's just call on Merry Idol. Cuts together that little
- 25:48super supercut of everybody likes Homer or everyone sort of everyone envies Home or likes
- 25:52Homer, or you can see what he's got going for him. Yeah,
- 25:56I was like, this is a nice ending. I'm not sure I'm buying
- 25:59it in the context of this whole thing, but there were bits and pieces
- 26:03in that little super cup where it's like, well, this is nice.
- 26:06I like that very much, and we'll get to that when we get to
- 26:07favorite moments as well. So I thought they've wrapped it up pretty well.
- 26:11You know, it was like a Christmas present. It's like I can sort
- 26:15of tell what's in here, but you know you've done You've done an admirable
- 26:18job of trying to wrap it neatly. And it's a slight little nitpick.
- 26:22I get this listeners, but I was appreciated if they tried to have put
- 26:25on like kid voices when they were eight. I'm like, comic book Guy
- 26:27just sounds like comic book guy when he's eight, and sounds like because they
- 26:33did it with Lenny, Yeah, Lenny had sort of like a childish yeah,
- 26:38yeah, yeah. I mean Frank just sounded like Frank and ad middally,
- 26:42these are distinctive voices, so they're going to sound kind of similar,
- 26:47and I guess they need to do that for I don't know certain members of
- 26:51the audience who are like, who's that character? But yeah, you're right.
- 26:53I mean, it would have been good if they'd sort of pitched them
- 26:56a little bit higher or something like that. Yeah, but I could have.
- 26:59Yeah, I'm watching his I don't care about this story at all.
- 27:00I just wish they just kept going with a treater like it were watching the
- 27:03actual documentary. Yeah, my favorite What were you favorite moments from the episode?
- 27:10If you hadn't he I had surprisingly a few. We know what surprised
- 27:14me because I came out of this and I've watched it twice. Right,
- 27:15I'm like, Okay, I watch it last timement. Maybe I'm tired of
- 27:18watching it agains today I'm just like, I have nothing against this, but
- 27:22I'm just like, I'm just not really feeling it. Maybe this is something
- 27:23not quite landing for me. And then alter the reviews, and all the
- 27:26reviews were praising how some people saying that one of the best episodes of the
- 27:30season. I was like, really, I wouldn't go quite that far.
- 27:33But having said that, I mean, given that I've liked a lot of
- 27:36it, I'm getting the feeling that the episode might be less than some of
- 27:38its parts. You sort of walk away down That was okay, I guess,
- 27:42But then there's a lot of bits I brought. One thing I did
- 27:45agree with in retrospect was that someone was saying the jokes were coming thick and
- 27:49fast, and I was like, they really were. I guess there's a
- 27:52lot of I guess, so a lot of episodes now aren't necessarily joke heavy.
- 27:56One it felt like gag heavy, that's true. I mean, it
- 27:57did feel like it felt like maybe the writers were a little bit galvanized by
- 28:04Eric girls coming to play. These guys are probably nerds who are like Mundy
- 28:07Bata, so it's like we better show them that we can play at the
- 28:11big boys table, yea, or the big kids table. So yeah,
- 28:14there were a lot of this good like one liners or bits or whatever.
- 28:17And among that was like Homer's on the couch and say, you better not
- 28:21cut to me eight years later because that would be a devastating edit. It's
- 28:25like, so yeah, I mean, that's as an edit to yourself,
- 28:27you know, it's like the joy of a very precise edit that sort of
- 28:30shows up someone who's really good. I dug that we got a crazy cat
- 28:34lady origin. I like that. That's one of my favorite moments. I
- 28:37was like, normally don't like when they give origin stories, but I'm like,
- 28:40this one just came out of nowhere and got me. And I also
- 28:42like to discost one as well, because you thought it was a sea captain.
- 28:45That's the thing I wrote down here. Well the seacpt young sea captain
- 28:48is kind of hunk. Yeah then, oh yeah, I like those two.
- 28:53They just came out of nowhere, and I guess they're now canon IFN
- 28:56know this episode is non cannon, but I'm just like, don't I felt
- 29:00like they felt believable. Yeah, absolutely, this woman who had everything going
- 29:04for and then she just got burnt out and doing too much and she became
- 29:07a crazy cat lady. I liked Home as many side hustles. But when
- 29:17Margins were talking about he's got his garage man play, he's got his playdough
- 29:21theater and already come what erotic carving. Yeah, so I thought that was
- 29:27a bit of a bit of a kick. Was not wrong. Return is
- 29:33a really good title. I don't quite get it. I don't quite get
- 29:36it, but it's good. It's like you're being on there. And also
- 29:41when Homer is singing a song about Lady Satan and using the term Belzie boobs
- 29:47is pretty good. I appreciated that, although I thought that was went on
- 29:51forever after and this is the shortest episode in the history of the show.
- 29:56Really, Yeah, it's nice because it didn't feel that's short of Simpsons episode
- 30:00of all time at nineteen minutes and forty nine seconds and I'm like, well
- 30:03the last three minutes with his him going set. Yeah, my lead I
- 30:07wrote up for the Bels and Booms was like, oh, so you're just
- 30:11riffing. Yes, so now it's just down an Eric going roll tape.
- 30:15Yeah, but I think Yeah, one of my favorite moments was when is
- 30:21it during that super cut where Lisa's saying you touched you went tighter than anyone
- 30:26and no monsters have gotten me yet, Like, very sweet, that is
- 30:29something you would want to hear from your daughter. Yes, it's like you
- 30:33always get me saved from monsters. I'm almost sort of tearing I'm thinking about
- 30:36It's like, that's a really sweet thing to hear. And just even like
- 30:37bar it's like because when dad's got no job, he spends more time with
- 30:41me. I'm like, oh that is very sweet. Yeah, he's reaching
- 30:42anything. Oh what's it going to do? And it's like oh it's a
- 30:45little hair ruffle. Yeah, I think it put the bey on his head
- 30:47and I was like, that would have really taken away the man. Don't
- 30:48do it. Yeah, don't do the season eighteen thing. Yeah, don't
- 30:52do what Donnie don't does. So yeah, I liked all those a lot.
- 30:56What did you eat? You've basically got you spoil all my Yeah,
- 31:00sorry man, next question you there eating the beast. It is, of

- 32:06with your first question. What is on Homer's favorite pjs? Ah, it's
- 32:10eight pairs of the peanut, butter and jelly correct. Yep. My first
- 32:15question is when home is doing? Is one man band in the garage?
- 32:17There's a sign above the door. What is it? It's Main Street?
- 32:20Main Street? Yes? Uh. The old man ointment that Declin finds in
- 32:27the house is what no idea? What is it? It is bull moose
- 32:30elbow salve. I could use some of that on my elbows because I'm constantly
- 32:35editing and like my elbows on the on the table and it's like because the
- 32:38other day Hollies like Awi, I'm like, what happened to your arm?
- 32:40And I was like, oh shit, I look at a monster. What
- 32:46was the name of crazy cat? Lady's cat? Oh, I want to
- 32:52say Percy, but that's not it. No, nothing like that at all.
- 32:54Actually, well, it's kind of like a word you'd say to somebody.
- 33:00It's like they've pissed you off. You don't calling them a name.
- 33:02It's usually to a kids like hey, get over here, buster, Buster,
- 33:07Yes, like a little shithead old ship, get over here, buster.
- 33:14Umm. Can you name the two hounds that that Smither's name checks when
- 33:19he's going to go pick them up? Minston and ah, fuck me and
- 33:24my no shadows Shadow of course, because I should have because that was my
- 33:30NaN's dogs Shadow and Winston doesn't like Witster's to sit in the front be getting
- 33:35along. Yes, my next question is what are the directions for the grandfather
- 33:39clock? Oh god, there's so many Yes. Using the suspension string above
- 33:45the pendulum leader, hang the pendulum on the pendulum guide. There's another moment
- 33:47where felt without Dragon a network, where Smith's going, ah, yeah,
- 33:52I'm like, you guys are killing time, really killing under twenty minutes.
- 33:57What the fore finger discount was able to keep it so brief? Yeah?
- 34:01All right, one last question for you. What time is the Quimby massage
- 34:07appointment? Eight am, eight thirty, eight thirty damn, it can be
- 34:13eight thirty every day. He's cheap, that's correct. And my final one
- 34:15here is what on Lenny's checks he's got butterflies stiflies? Correct? Yeah.
- 34:20I thought they kind of did Lenny dirty here, but they also sort of
- 34:22pointed out that he is kind of boring. Yes, yeah, and you
- 34:25haven't really been doing anything with him for like a decade. Now, that's
- 34:29true. I mean, what do you primarily remember the two things you think
- 34:31you remember about Lenny while I do at least on his relationship to Carl.
- 34:36And secondly, don't tell anybody how I live. Yeah, and things haven't
- 34:38going in his eye? That Oh that's one. And see the one is
- 34:43his max what I did I did out of alcohol and anger? No,
- 34:45that's that was someone else. No that it sounds like, no, no,
- 34:49maybe it was him. Yeah, because he's walking past the guy with
- 34:51the giant hand. Yeah, yeah he was. Yeah. I think you're
- 34:53right. Yeah, it's got because that I like doing Lenny's voice well,
- 34:59going up in like the gold in the nineties, Lenny felt like the normal
- 35:01person and out of all the bar flives is like, I think I'm the
- 35:05Lenny, but he's like the shoulder of someone to cry. I'm going to
- 35:08cry on. He's the most reasonable person. He's not a drunk. He
- 35:12seems like a nice person. He doesn't seem like he's got that many demons
- 35:15to drown at the bar. And I like hanging out at the bar with
- 35:17my buddies. It's like you rock up to her places like, oh,
- 35:20Lenny's here. Fuck yeah, I have a great time, you know.
- 35:22Norm Now now as they treat him like he's an annoying widow. Yeah,
- 35:25and even even Carl is kind of like, yeah, why am I hanging
- 35:29out with you? It's like this is not good. We don't like it,
- 35:31so now I don't like it. So. The original air day of
- 35:37Springfield Up was February eighteenth, two thousand and seven. It was written by
- 35:40Matt Warburton and directed by Chucked Sheets and of course guests that Eric Idol as
- 35:45Declan Desmond, I often have to chuck sheets. Yeah, you may wonder
- 35:52why how haven't you change the bed sheets in your bed? Honestly, I
- 35:54am trying to do it fortnightly. Yeah, I do it if you've got
- 36:00the time to do it, but I'm probably doing it monthly. So we
- 36:02have kids and dogs sleeping in the bed with this, so it's like we
- 36:06have to change. I have me in my bed. I have to do
- 36:08it really frequently. But I was very much of a mind like one week
- 36:15towns, one week sheets, one week towns one week sheets, and it's
- 36:20like these towns could use a wash man. These sits are fun. That's
- 36:22like me where I'm buying like because it happens with pepsi max. Right,
- 36:27So one week it's a Safeway's on special and one week at Coals, one
- 36:30week at will worsts do you need to pour figure discut on more tips on
- 36:37how to beat the system goes down? And I both do this with the
- 36:39occasional side trick to wealdi. Yeah, and the beauty thing is on Shannon
- 36:44Avenue that Coals and Wills are relatively close, so I'll go here for this
- 36:46ship and here for that ship. Oh yeah, I've always maken the list
- 36:50where it's like C and W C W Network imagine people, these fucking old
- 37:00bitties. You're clipping coupons too. The answer is I missed couponsa howlets as
- 37:10a kid was getting the Hungry Jacks fucking vouchers in the mail mate, and
- 37:14my name would take us down on a school holidays. We walk down a
- 37:15Hungry Jacks and get out fucking two woppers for three dollars. Oh yeah,
- 37:17now it's two woppers for like ten or twelve. They're like, what is
- 37:21happening here, Well, you gotta get the app you gotta get Yeah,
- 37:23there was no vouchers. All they do do vouchers still, but it's one
- 37:25sheet. Used to be it used to be the booklet. The way it
- 37:29used to be was because hung Ja vouches in the mail the other day.
- 37:30I couldnt believe. It was just like a flashback, right, but it's
- 37:32just like a one sheet and yet to like cut them out right used to
- 37:36be a booklet and you flick through it and be like three of the same
- 37:37thing, through the same thing, through the same thing. But like those
- 37:39those vouchers there, if you used it, it was like they took it
- 37:43and you never got to use it again. So I was like, oh,
- 37:45we're gonna use it today. I really want those poppers. I'll do
- 37:47it, but today now it's just like I want to use I don't even
- 37:50actually punt off the vouchers anymore. I'm just like, yeah, I want
- 37:52to use that vouchers, Like yep, sure, cool, anything else you
- 37:53want. The don't even asked for it anymore, isn't the great Well your
- 37:57hand over a vouchel somewhere and they're like, it's right, yeah, it's
- 38:00like powder, the people solid, we're all in this together. You've got
- 38:07a couple more days on that one. You can use it again if you
- 38:08want to, Like, oh well, yeah, right now, thank you.
- 38:15But the episode kicks off with Declan Desmond and he's at the school playgrounds,
- 38:17all broken and worn down and suppressing, and he says the thirty two
- 38:22years ago he interviewed the school children of Springfield, and it cuts to the
- 38:27black and white. Everything's intact and looking fresh, and these children around the
- 38:30gamut of society, rich and poor, black and white. He'll grow into
- 38:36his looks and forever hideous. My dad was a circus freak, but my
- 38:40mom don't remember which one. I like to think it was a little bit
- 38:44of all of them love mode sort of front on smile. Yeah. I
- 38:47just love that he's like, yeah, my mom married a circus freak or
- 38:52whatever, my dad was a circus freak. I one doesn't know which one.
- 38:54I love a little bit of all of them. He's so cheerful.
- 38:58Yeah, but that I really like. Win this episode. Yeah yeah,
- 39:00I mean you didn't get a whole lot of him. But it wasn't horrible
- 39:04in anyway, was he No, No, he was really sweet when Declan
- 39:07showed up at the bar that time, and the gag about you know,
- 39:10oh, like that's a scrambled porn channel, that's a shoe add But the
- 39:16bit we had the various photos of mo throughout the years, apparently that's a
- 39:20take on the appearance of Michael Jackson or something. Oh okay, apparently those
- 39:22Michael Jackson's wearing similar shit. Maybe I I saw the Okay, I saw
- 39:28the twenty four one where he's got the shades on. Yeah he looks pretty
- 39:30cool. Yeah, but he says, yeah, you watch his documentary.
- 39:36You can watch their dreams of like Muffins in the Rain and his calls it
- 39:38growing up Springfield, And so everyone here is this what it was like in
- 39:43the seventies everything that people want to do when they grow up. His roadbot
- 39:45related not really, no, no, but I think I think there was
- 39:50a stage in the seventies, probably post Star Wars actually, where it's kind
- 39:54of like, oh, we can have roubuts you know, you'd watch There
- 40:00was a TV show called The Curiosity Show. Have you ever heard of that?
- 40:02I never heard of it. It was kind of like sayings for kids.
- 40:07Have it on Channel nine in the afternoons. It's kind of like,
- 40:08yeah, over and get to this, how we can get the wacky races
- 40:12or you know, get smart. But it'd be like, here's what's going
- 40:15to happen in the future, and you could be part of it and occasionally
- 40:17have like some very makeshift robot on or whatever. I remember robot was when
- 40:22I was a kid. And also computers were starting to sort of gather a
- 40:25little bit of speed a computer and Willy Wonka, Oh yeah, that's right,
- 40:30the giant fucking thing. So yeah, I mean, I won't necessarily,
- 40:37I don't necessarily think it was kind of like we're all going to be
- 40:39working with or for robots in the future, but there was certainly a little
- 40:45bit of like the future is underway and it's going to be fun as were
- 40:49in the future, as opposed to now, which is going I said you
- 40:52a link last night. Did you watch that Frank Sinatra singing. I haven't
- 40:55had a chance to yet because I'm like, I know you don't watch the
- 40:59links that I send to you, but I still send them anyway. It's
- 41:00kind of like I know someone sending out a Christmas card and I'm never going
- 41:02to open it. It's like a letter from prison. It's the guy's seen
- 41:07it. It never responds or gives like a thumbs up, and I'm like,
- 41:08he's not gonna look at that. Think I looked at the time you're
- 41:12saying it was something like twelve thirty and I was editing. Yeah, I
- 41:15was probably in bed. Saw it was one where around. But your Twitter,
- 41:19like five minutes prior, hashtag about to watch fucking Big Trouble Little China.
- 41:23This is completely un But sometimes it's like I'm about to go to better
- 41:29like two am, and guys like hashtag you about to watch this, and
- 41:30I'm like, why are you up? Why are you watching this now?
- 41:36No kids? But I sent you a link to AI Where is My Mind?
- 41:43By the Pixies. I was blown away by how real it sounds.
- 41:45And I'm like, I see, I'm all for AI. You know,
- 41:49I'm all about it. You know, I know you're scared of it.
- 41:51But like getting to hear this guy cover this person, I'm like, it's
- 41:54fucking cool man that that. Look. There's a Freddie Mercury quote right where
- 41:59he says, I don't care what you do with my music, just don't
- 42:00make it boring. It's a very good point by Freddy. So like,
- 42:04I don't feel bad watching Freddie Mercury AI covers because it's like you wouldn't care.
- 42:08That's true because he's dead. Yeah, I just feel like at this
- 42:14stage, I'm sort of like I'm running very fast to keep ahead of AI.
- 42:19If I can just make it till you know, I'm sixty five or
- 42:23something, I'm going to play it now. You can listen to it through
- 42:25the headphones, the face nay thing. Just quickly, all right, okay,
- 42:29with your feet on your head on the mine, try this straight and
- 42:39spin it. Yeah, your head with coloms. But there's nothing in it
- 42:47in your last yourself. Where is mine? Mine? Where is mine mine?
- 42:55Where is mine? Well? Yeah, in the water see it's I'm
- 43:25watching his face as I showed him, and he's like, I don't want
- 43:29to say that it's good because it scares me a little bit. But that
- 43:32sounds fucking bang on, like Frank Sinatra, right, and and the arrangement
- 43:37arrangements everything. Yeah, that's that's pretty good. I think it's probably the
- 43:39best AI cover thing I've ever seen a line. And here's the thing,
- 43:43here's the thing. We're at this stage now, you know, it just
- 43:45started. Imagine what's going to be like in like two years when Elliott's my
- 43:49age. Can you imagine what it's gonna be like? Well, do you
- 43:51think there'll be such a I don't care for real, dad, I want
- 43:54AI Dad. Do you think people will actually like the the art of acting,
- 43:59will have an existing more or do you think they'll just scan someone's face
- 44:00and make movies with it. Yeah? I mean, I think the Actors'
- 44:06Union and the Writers' Union really fought tooth and claw this time around. It's
- 44:08going to mean nothing in twenty years, and don't reckon. I don't think
- 44:10it is. But then I honestly think that they're thinking about themselves and like
- 44:15their life span and how they're going to make their money, but that it's
- 44:17like that's a future generation problem. Yeah, it is. It is.
- 44:22Everything's becoming so much more interactive now that Yeah, it's it's going to reach.
- 44:27It's going like Netflix and it's like Netflix games and shit like alix o
- 44:30yea, let's like choose your own adventure and it's kind of ship and they're
- 44:31like, what is happening? Yeah, I mean I think games are to
- 44:36say this generation Sayen and gen Z and whatever generation comes there, which I
- 44:40think it's been called Generation Alpha. Games are to them what movies were to
- 44:45us. You know, it's like, wow, we get to watch these
- 44:47cool looking people do stories and it's like, well, they get to actually
- 44:51be in the story and dictated according to how I please. And by the
- 44:53way, I get to have a love scene with the Sidney Sweeney like okay,
- 44:58looks like you win, kidn I'm just stroking it to Michelle Favor,
- 45:04I think you won. Striking. Now, there was a kid in this
- 45:08scene here, by the way, when all the table is drawing or whatever,
- 45:10who looked like Art GARFUNKL. Did you see him? He was at
- 45:13the end of the table. Yeah, we've seen that kid before. Were
- 45:16like in early episodes with the curly hair. I thought it was not a
- 45:20kid in early episodes, because this is meant to be kids. Oh that's
- 45:22true. Yeah, you're thinking of Lewis, I think, But is this
- 45:27I thought it might have been the guy who was at the like the the
- 45:30end of the prom or whatever. He was like the class clown. Who
- 45:32was that Guy's right? I love that guy. But Lenny here is very
- 45:39dull. He's got a birthday dinosaur cake and everyone that's a fine cake.
- 45:43Lennie, I'll say yes. And he said he didn't watch any more film
- 45:45on the Kid after that. Barney Carr wishes for well peace, Barney wishes
- 45:51for World war and that'd be much cooler. And then Homer wishes he's gonna
- 45:54be richer than anybody when he's older. He's gon to own a FOOTBA team
- 45:57and a baseball team and make them, no, a football team and a
- 45:59basketball team and make them play play baseball. Yeah not, I like Michael
- 46:01Jordan. No. Now, Clancy Wigham's time to wait. Tune into the
- 46:06movie guys. We can hear a space jam. Yes, Space Jam review.
- 46:08It was a lot of fun, so Clancy Wigan by the way,
- 46:10if you're a top tier supporter of ours on pageon, you get to watch
- 46:14us through the show live. That's true. Watch a guy pick his nose,
- 46:17bang bang bang freeze Robert Freeze, bang bang bang. It's too bad.
- 46:24Please just put one in my brain. Okay, bang, thank you.
- 46:31And I didn't get this whole. It was just so awkward when he
- 46:34was like put one in my brain, when like he's playing and I was
- 46:37like, he's a kid. It was really weird hearing your kids say this.
- 46:42It's just it was odd. Maybe feel uncomfortable, Okay. I just
- 46:45didn't think it was all that funny. It wasn't funny at all. It
- 46:47was just weird. He then becomes hall monitor and then he sees attention birders
- 46:52both to jail bird, and then he gets accepted into police academy at the
- 46:55age of twenty four. What did I tell you about points towards you?
- 47:00And then he gives good back rub to the sergeant whoever that was. It
- 47:04also shoots the cameraman and shoots the cameraman by accidents, and then at thirty
- 47:07four at thirty two, sorry, he has massages way too Chief of Police
- 47:09by giving Quimby back moms massaged his way, yes, and lou then makes
- 47:15fun of his pants and yeah, not all that funny again, No,
- 47:17I mean there's a lot of like you saw how that was going to end
- 47:21as well as well, I can't make funny. There's a lot of obvious
- 47:23stuff in this. It just felt like an episode that again we say there's
- 47:28a lot the idea was great and there were some good moments, but it's
- 47:31just like it felt like again it's four fifty five when I go home in
- 47:35five, Yeah, just just go of anything best idea wins. Yeah,
- 47:38too busy with the movie now, Homers turned for age eight and he says
- 47:44he's gonna have a mansion to pinball table with infinity quarters and eight pairs of
- 47:47P and J pajamas. Did you say P and J PB and J PP
- 47:52and J Yeah. Yeah. Brief side bub, I was at Geelong Institution
- 47:58the Barman Club not long ago seeing a band from the end he's called the
- 48:01Models. You've mentioned this three times now on the podcast that you went and
- 48:05saw this band. Okay, then was a big event. We're a friend
- 48:07of the part of the Models. But they've got a pool table and I
- 48:10was like, oh, I can't remember last time I played pool at a
- 48:14pub, but in this is how long it's been. It used to be
- 48:17you'd put your coin down when you were the next one to play, about
- 48:21to say it's got the card swiping thing. Ah. So I'm like,
- 48:25so how do I go next? And I could see some guy across the
- 48:29across the table. No, and me and another guy were going to play
- 48:34next, and we were like, we said to the people were playing,
- 48:36Oh, I guess we're next. I couldn't see a chalkboard to put your
- 48:39name over it in the la but I saw some guy who was eyeing the
- 48:42table, and I thought, we didn't have to have that discussion. I
- 48:45don't I don't know if I want to have a discussion with you about who's
- 48:49next. But anyway, we ended up playing. By the way, it
- 48:52cost a lot to play a game of pool, because I'm like, three
- 48:54bucks wasn't two bucks anymore. I will never forget. Remember the Nash right
- 48:58before it became the the National Hotel, when it was the Good Nash was
- 49:02a sticky carpet with the best dim sims in Geelong. Correct, Yeah,
- 49:06they had a pool table in their Remember it was like we want to play
- 49:08pool. On Saturday night at the National played pool. The famous nash pool
- 49:12table was broken, and she still wanted to play pool in there. Right.
- 49:15I remember there was this guy there and he looked like he was he
- 49:16was a classic pool shark shit teeth, you know. He was just like
- 49:19a hustler, right, and there was four two dollar coins there by the
- 49:22way. I'm glad you said pool shark because so many people get this wrong.
- 49:25It is pool shark and card sharp. Yeah, some people say card
- 49:29shark. Why would you do that? Yeah, when you're just playing wrong?
- 49:34Why would I say something so wrong and yet so wrong? But this
- 49:36pool shark he was he was playing against this other guy and there's four two
- 49:40dollar coins on there, right, and his friend he was playing with a
- 49:44little bit shady as well. And then I'm thinking, okay, one fourth
- 49:46in the line, So I put a two dollar coin in. I wait
- 49:49my turn. I come back and it's down to two digitalar coins. But
- 49:52this guy and these two guys are still playing, and I was like,
- 49:54what's going on? Like they just put like five two dollar coins down and
- 49:57it's like taking over the table for like an hour. I'm like, you
- 49:59can I actually do that that's against the fucking rules. You can't put your
- 50:02own stall coins down and say I'm next, next, next, next,
- 50:05next. I was like, I'm not gonna challenge because he looks fucking crazy,
- 50:08but I'll never forget that god guy who played pool at the mast.
- 50:12But apparently he just he's one of those guys where it's just like he looked
- 50:14crazy enough where he just did it and he knew no one's gonna question it.
- 50:16Yeah, always go with your gut on that, on that, on
- 50:22those times. Yeah, by the way, I started really well at this
- 50:24pool game and Lou was very impressed, and then Gary, who was playing
- 50:29with just kick my ass. I'm pretty good at pool, Like, it's
- 50:31one of my talents where I'm just like because I grew always grew up with
- 50:35a pool table at home, so it's one of those things where I'm like,
- 50:37no one expects you to be good at pool, you know, we're
- 50:39always like everyone's kind of like okay at Paul, But when you're pretty good
- 50:43at Paul, it's kind of like, damn. It's something which I can
- 50:49be good and then sometimes I can be average. It's like with bowling.
- 50:52Yeah, I'm still I'm lucky to crack one hundred in bowling. I'm just
- 50:55no good at it. Well we had fun, though, didn't we.
- 50:59Yeah we are. You came, that's right, got our old work,
- 51:01Yeah, I've got drunk ass. Yeah, speaking of our old work.
- 51:05So our old employer, the actual man himself, yes, came to my
- 51:08thirtieth birthday party and challenged me to a camp pool and I pantsed him.
- 51:15That had I beat him a super as well. After you been metaphorical answer
- 51:20for a few years. All right, we now will turn you to Springfield
- 51:24up before we get in trouble. Yes, but you know, the whole
- 51:28squeaky toy thing, it's just it's just annoying. That's rare. About twenty
- 51:32four Hun is now selling manure. I actually love this should be one of
- 51:36my favorite moments. Hey, the manure dealership is just one of the things
- 51:39I got going. I also have a sweet gig as an infomercial question asker.
- 51:45I know it's super clean cleans, but does it scrub? I know,
- 51:52super clean cleans, but does it scrub? I wouldn't mind being one
- 51:59of those sweet but that don't exist any more informercials, do they? I
- 52:02don't think so. No, I was cricket clean cleans, but does it
- 52:05Scrub's got the Kissinger glasses and Kissinger apparently apparently, then you's got a garage
- 52:14band where it's just him and open castic caricatures. Then if I had a
- 52:20peanut of hope in the Crackerjack box of dispaand I'm like, March seems like
- 52:23she's someone who's with it. And I know she loves Homer, but if
- 52:27she apparently knew Hi from when he was a kid, she probably should have
- 52:30realized this ain't the horse to bat on. No, that's true. It
- 52:34is an ongoing mystery of the Simpsons. They try and explain it here,
- 52:37and we say, at least he try to explain it. But she's like,
- 52:39you know, I just love him. And I'm like, that's fine,
- 52:43but but why we know that love can sometimes be irrational. Yeah,
- 52:50but it's got to have some foundation in reality. Are you too considering children?
- 52:57Kids? No way, You'll never see a cup rug rats tying me
- 53:00down. You better not put this shot after the one where I said I
- 53:04won't to have kids. That would be a devastating edit. Homer, your
- 53:07life is nothing to be ashamed of. You've got a loving family and a
- 53:12steady job at a nuclear power plant. You're not English Breakfast, but you're
- 53:15not Lapsang Soushong either. Oh yeah, chake with me. In eight years,
- 53:22doctor who, I'll be kicking your ass with a solid gold boot.
- 53:25Hmm. What's changed for me since the last time I saw you? Only
- 53:32everything? I can't believe it. Homer Simpson a bloody millionaire? Why do
- 53:38your sound so shocked? This is her fifth take? I like that that
- 53:43pisce take of just filmmaking it, or like you know, reality Tavo where
- 53:45it's like, but why are you fake pretending like you're shock? You knew
- 53:50this was happening. Yeah, we've gone through this three times. I feel
- 53:52that's what it would be like, going to like a sitcom and watching a
- 53:55scene and then so on Fox up the line and you go to like laugh
- 53:58again at the same jokes two a three times. Absolutely. Yeah. I
- 54:00wonder that they probably just get the audio off the audience from the first take.
- 54:04You'd have to assume, right. I think there's got to be a
- 54:06bit of mixing going on, absolutely, because I don't know how many times
- 54:08I can pretend to laugh at the same joke no. I think often it's
- 54:14done more for the benefit of the cast than anything else, just to get
- 54:15you know, them vibing off the energy of a live audience, rather than
- 54:21just let's record people laughing, you know. I mean, I'm sure there's
- 54:22a lot of genuine stuff that's used, but all right, let's use a
- 54:25bit from take one and a bit from take three and oh you can hear
- 54:30that? What does you think it was? Might have been Bill Hicks,
- 54:35who he recorded like a one of his standard shows. And there's a woman
- 54:39in the audiges with the most distinctive laugh, and it's like, well,
- 54:44we've got to keep that clearly. Now. We come out from commercial and
- 54:50Bartley's on their jet skis and bart uses the dolphins blowholes a cup hold her
- 54:54and it's like, oh, that's a bit gross. Marge is proud.
- 54:58She's so proud that her chest might burst and out the word chest. And
- 55:00I was like, that's none of this was funny to me. Nah,
- 55:05I mean I was more intrigued, but it's like, Okay, how how
- 55:07has this happened? Yeah, and then we got to the condoment pen,
- 55:10which, honestly, it sounds like a pretty good idea good idea, and
- 55:14apparently that is a reference to Monty Python. Okay, so see declent Desmond
- 55:17played by Eric Idol as him if he can use the condiment pen on his
- 55:21fish and chips, to which Homer replies, you can use it to put
- 55:23horse radish on your dead mother for all I care. This is the reference.
- 55:25Sorry, that that joke there. This is a reference to a Monty
- 55:29Python sketch in which John Cleese takes his mother to undertakers, who suggests various
- 55:34means of disposing of the body, finally suggesting cannibalism. Horse radish is suggested
- 55:37as a seasoning. Oh okay, it's Monty Python for it. Yeah,
- 55:39but I reckon that would have to that's too, it's too much of a
- 55:44coincidence for that to not be a reference, right, Oh no, absolutely,
- 55:45that's a yeah, that's one of the nerds saying I remember that skitz
- 55:50it jun Cliff, he wrote it in description the there. You know we
- 55:55did something like that with Buddy. I know you did when you used to
- 56:00interview people before you like recorded, would you used to start with saying I
- 56:02know you hears every time it like I'm just I'm a huge fan or thank
- 56:06you so much for doing this, And at what point did you realize,
- 56:07don't do that anymore. I didn't do it all. Oh, I never
- 56:14stopped doing it. I mean I didn't do it all the time. If
- 56:16someone had done, if I was interviewing someone for a piece of word that
- 56:20I really admired, I would say before it was like, I thought you
- 56:22were just great. I thought you were really really good. I mean,
- 56:24you're trying to do it too often during the actual interview itself, but you
- 56:30didn't let him know. It's like, really respect what you did there,
- 56:31or you try to without being too wanky about it, and obviously being very
- 56:37wanky about it. I mean, you're actually winking them. If it was
- 56:46someone that you really respected and whose work you knew, you'd try to not
- 56:52go for the because you tried to do it, Tarantina, Remember, I
- 56:53did absolutely, and he was like, yeah, I have nightmares over it.
- 56:58We're not best. What was his quote that he said? What did
- 57:00he say to you? He just said something, Oh, that was a
- 57:02good one, because you tried to make an obscure reference, didn't you.
- 57:05Yeah. It's a movie that he that I really like growing up, called
- 57:07Fandango It's an early Kevin Costna movie. And I remember reading an early interview
- 57:10with Tarantino where he said he was really into it as well. I'm like,
- 57:14I think we might be the only two people in the word who liked
- 57:15this movie. So yeah, sort of gave it a shout and he was
- 57:20like, Yeah, that's a good one. That's it, And that was
- 57:23it. He was gonna say, we just become best friends building bunk beds.
- 57:30It's that time for Frank. He's going to be a rocket scientist to
- 57:31Mars. He has his cloaking device from the Bullies. Another was just went
- 57:36on for ages and there was no sort of payoff. Yeah, did he
- 57:39say he invented the eight month after pill? Yes, I thought it was
- 57:43okay, discovered and cured Frank Frick's disease. But he's never talked to a
- 57:47girl. So he's built a time machine called the Corona Track, which apparently
- 57:51looks like the actual time looks like the time machine from the Time Machine,
- 57:54Yeah, the sixties adaptation of the Time Machine. Yeap. He goes back
- 57:58in time and then it gets hit by car before we can warn the little
- 58:02young version of himself. Then young Kyle takes it which the payoff is pointless,
- 58:07is nothing, there's nothing to it. Yeah, I was like,
- 58:09oh, okay, this is going to be at least lead to something,
- 58:12and no, it's just like, oh that happened earlier in the episode to
- 58:15humorous effect. Not really, it's Alanor at age eight, she's going to
- 58:21be a lawyer and a doctor. By twenty four, she'd graduated from Harvard
- 58:23Medical and Yale Law. But by thirty two, shoes burnt out, wasn't
- 58:27she She wasn't there? One glass of wine with Buster had probably turned into
- 58:30far too many. She's throwing her Yale degree out us. I believe,
- 58:35yes, and a cat, But I just I just really liked love that
- 58:37that I written saw. Yeah that was good. And yeah, just a
- 58:40really quick gag. Yep, Marge. Now Marge's turn. Apparently she wanted
- 58:45to be a photographer I have ever seen. I think Marge wants to be
- 58:47a lot of things that never came to fruition, probably due to Homer.
- 58:51I'm watch a minute here, but I'm surprised at in tapping to the painting,
- 58:54the artist side of things, she wasn't be an artist. Yeah,
- 58:57yeah, I mean, because I've already seen that I don't know, I
- 59:00guess, but they keep bringing up these artistic or creative ambitions and endeavors that
- 59:04never really sort of go anywhere, and they sort of makes it feel bad
- 59:07for her, so it doesn't it. Yeah, the only difference in the
- 59:09last eight years has been I met home and I'm like, eh, Jess
- 59:13rocks it with this skull tattoo. I must have been. I did find
- 59:15it funny though all the paper headline, newspaper headlines, my favorite boy brings
- 59:22them up for everything, typing class tragedy. She later flung to Next County,
- 59:28but she's now working at the department store and is where we get the
- 59:30birth of Disco Stu. Not the Sea Captain, but they were playing it
- 59:34upore because even sound like the Sea Captain, didn't he really, Yes,
- 59:37I need one. What I'd say is fatal for my captain's license. Hmm,
- 59:42coming right up. Mind, if they turn on a little music,
- 59:47it's done sable, not a good stew looks disco music and the world welcomed
- 59:55disco Stew. Yeah, this is the episode where I was like, ah,
- 1:00:00this is not fun. I need to work full time to support Homer's
- 1:00:05venture rock music and erotic etching, and I was like, well, this
- 1:00:07isn't funny, it's just depressing. It's hitting too close. I hope for
- 1:00:12Dando because Nicolas like, I've got to work extra hard bank. Well there's
- 1:00:15bud game. That's not true. But now Declan, He's asked, why
- 1:00:22do you have old man medicine in your in your medical cabinet? And this
- 1:00:24weinster Bans arrives and god it his summer home. And I'm like, is
- 1:00:28this not just his mansions and wears his place? I'm not. That's the
- 1:00:31thing was He's always at home in Springfield during winter, so why is this
- 1:00:35now he's home? Why is that a summer home in Springfield? Yeah?
- 1:00:37It was weird. Yeah, I mean, and that could be well,
- 1:00:42I can't think, I'm off the top of my head, but I imagine
- 1:00:44that could be a funny gag if you sort of took it and strung it
- 1:00:46out. I was like, why do you have a summer home? But
- 1:00:49it was four fifty five guys, see, oh that's true. I got
- 1:00:52to pick at the kids. Yeah, Homer then come up with commercial offers.
- 1:00:58But he's like, you can be him, just don't leave marks.
- 1:01:00And I was like, that's not a funny line either. No, was
- 1:01:05there. I guess there was a point where they thought Homer being a shit
- 1:01:08father was funny. He's always been like, I don't know what's the what's
- 1:01:13the term, not a shit father. He's always been, always been frustraight,
- 1:01:15frustrated and sort of like Choking's one. Choking was like a visual gad
- 1:01:19that just kept in the show for whatever reason, right, And yeah,
- 1:01:21but the idea of like you can beat him, and I'm like, no,
- 1:01:23no, And then in the next scene you expect us to now go,
- 1:01:28oh, isn't he great? Home is a great person. He's got
- 1:01:30everything he wants in life. And have all the people saying, you know,
- 1:01:31Homah does this for me and he tucks me in at night and it's
- 1:01:34great having daddy around. It's like, yeah, but you've two minutes earlier
- 1:01:37you had Homer say you can beat him, just don't leave Marx, I
- 1:01:42can I'm cutting the show too much, like and when I'm sort of trying
- 1:01:46to come up with situations where that kind of works, where Home is so
- 1:01:51desperate that he'll say anything to sort of get off the hook. Yeah,
- 1:01:53but I don't know that's putting a lot of faith in in the show.
- 1:01:59And I don't know if it's Burns at this episode. If it's funny,
- 1:02:02I'll go with it. This is it wasn't funny, That's what I was
- 1:02:05like. Whatever, Yeah, I mean it wasn't like it wasn't offender was
- 1:02:07like it was. It was never funny, So what was the point?
- 1:02:09You know? Yeah, I mean just and it whispering loud in the quiet,
- 1:02:15po loud or that kind of Yeah, that kind of ship. I'm
- 1:02:17not I'm not into that. But you know, Homer's sort of stead of
- 1:02:21getting so just with a ookie phone you can beat him, but just don't
- 1:02:24show them, you know what I mean? Colorbool doing the collar Smithers is
- 1:02:31in the Grandfather Clock. But again a gag that's just dragged out a bit
- 1:02:36too much. Forever. Yeah, Burns has released the hounds, but they're
- 1:02:39still in his winter house. So this is what they had the summer house
- 1:02:42gags. They can say winterhouse. I guess his winter house because he's always
- 1:02:47there. A Christmas time in Springfild where we have a Christmas Simpsons episode,
- 1:02:51he's at his house. That's the thing. If it's on like this isn't
- 1:02:52can though. I guess if it's on the other side of a hill or
- 1:02:55something where it's kind of like, okay, it gets you know, it's
- 1:03:00east facing himself, gets a sunrise or something like that. I don't know.
- 1:03:04But then it just cuts to everyone getting along talking about getting the vending
- 1:03:07machine contracts from the Kremlin, Like what again? Yeah, it's a gag
- 1:03:10in name only. It's like, oh, you know, while we're waiting
- 1:03:14for the hand, while we're waiting to release the hounds. Oh, everyone's
- 1:03:16forgotten why they were actually angry to each other. Now they're just getting along
- 1:03:20famously. Oh the hounds are here trying to release the hands. Yeah,
- 1:03:23relases them and chases the family away, and that's it. It's a geno.
- 1:03:25It's a gag in name only. Yeah. But then he says,
- 1:03:29I've got two questions for Homer. Why lie and lies? Lies? Why?
- 1:03:31And he's just trying to get the answer from home. Why did you
- 1:03:35lie to me? It's like it's pretty obvious he's same as anyone with love
- 1:03:37because they're embarrassed and they want to pretend that they're rich. This isn't it.
- 1:03:42Don't know. I thought the last five minutes was a bit bit of
- 1:03:45nothing, nothing really, but we got the montage of him chasing after Homer,
- 1:03:50so he's got He runs into the tree house, he runs into the
- 1:03:53house on fire, and then he runs. He gets out of the car
- 1:03:55when he's driving and Grandpas still in the car. Hey, I'm ready from
- 1:04:00my segment. Lenny, who is exciting to hear from you? Did you
- 1:04:06ever try that new shamboo? No? Never, did I want to watch
- 1:04:13me pay my cable bill. I got checked with butterflies on him. I
- 1:04:18am interesting, No you're not. Not only are you pointing out how lame
- 1:04:24Lenny is, but then you have Lenny at the end of it go,
- 1:04:27I am interesting, No you're not. I'm like, we get the joke.
- 1:04:32Neither Dando nor I are fans of that particular thing, and we're guessing
- 1:04:35that a lot of you listening I'm probably fans of that either. So just
- 1:04:39in case you didn't realize, these are the jokes folk. Yes, Homer
- 1:04:43says he did it because nothing's changing his life in the last eight years.
- 1:04:45That's why he did it. Marj then kicks him out because he went to
- 1:04:48a lot of trouble to try and impress you, and I love him so
- 1:04:50I'm standing by and I'm like, okay, yeah, that's great. I'm
- 1:04:54probably more team Declan. Declan's now at Moe's. What's the matter at Declan?
- 1:05:00Cop give you a ticket for talking like a fruit. It's the oddest
- 1:05:02thing. I actually feel affection for these knuckle dragging sub monkeys. I feel
- 1:05:08sorry for Homer Simpson. What he been sipping cuckoo juice almost got it made.
- 1:05:12He's married to one hell of a woman. All I got is this
- 1:05:15porn channel. I'm too cheap to de scramble. That's an ad for shoe
- 1:05:19inserts. What I've been writing creepy letters to that? But what you said
- 1:05:24about Homer, it's It's given me a brilliant idea, an action movie where
- 1:05:28I played a pope who kills a president. No, that's a terrible idea.
- 1:05:30Yeah, I know it is stupid. I think it could work,
- 1:05:32though I even got a title Pontiff No Return. I came up with it,
- 1:05:36but I don't really get it. This is where Declin gets the idea,
- 1:05:42and he invites Homer to his editing bay, and you see a little
- 1:05:45Clippi from Ain't no Mountain. A blind man climbs Everest which was like,
- 1:05:48what the fuck was this? So apparently this was a piss take of something.
- 1:05:54The movie A Blind Man Climbs Man Everest is a reference to Eric wine
- 1:05:58Man Wine Mayo, a real blind person who climbed up Mount Everest on May
- 1:06:01twenty fifth, two thousand and one. He also completed the Seventh Summits in
- 1:06:04September two thousand and two, joining one hundred and fifty Mountain. He's at
- 1:06:08the time who had accomplished that feat, but as the only climber who was
- 1:06:10blind, I'm like, okay, so it's a reference to something, but
- 1:06:13why was it in this episode? I have no idea shout out to Eric,
- 1:06:16Wow, great work, good work, man, but yeah, more
- 1:06:19power to you. Then he shows Homer everyone talking him up, but margin
- 1:06:23arrived. Don't kill the foreign man, so I wasn't going to All the
- 1:06:25knives fallout and he's realized he's been living his best life. You know,
- 1:06:29you're my real dream come true and I lived my life with you every day
- 1:06:31and I'm just like, yes, why did it become this? Sixty four
- 1:06:36you're at home. I just I don't know, just content with life.
- 1:06:40Gets to an old age and realize, you know, what I am happy,
- 1:06:43didn't need this forced bullshit. Yeah, I have him at fifty eight
- 1:06:45and sorry, so fifty seven, fifty fifty six. Yeah, I have
- 1:06:53him in variation Shenanigans at those ages then but very briefly, and then have
- 1:06:59him at sixty four. It all kind of worked out in the in the
- 1:07:02end, in the in the balance, you could even get dark and go
- 1:07:04to like deathbed Homer and having to sort of like realizing how happy his life
- 1:07:09has been, how lucky he is, and I'm like that would mean something.
- 1:07:12I think so yeah, because this whole like you said, this whole
- 1:07:15thing just felt so force of everyone going home is a great guy, he's
- 1:07:16got you know, and it's just like huh what. But Homer then tries
- 1:07:23the mixing board if he wants to make a demo tape for setting You're my
- 1:07:26lady. I'm guessing that this this resonated with Dando, like this is probably
- 1:07:30like guy touching a mixing boy, like, don't touch it. Oh my
- 1:07:34god. It's just like sometimes we'll be doing over zoom or whatever and guy,
- 1:07:39what am I PUSH's like don't oh jesus, Guy's gone, Mike's not
- 1:07:41connecting. I'm gonna push the green, but it makes airhorn sounds where where
- 1:07:51you love that sound? Taking you're my lady, dick me with your pitchforking
- 1:08:00taking, you're my lady. Take me with your bitch farking Oh that no,
- 1:08:10yeah, your girl smothering me with your beetled boots because I'm a rock
- 1:08:16and roll hero with the mode. It tackle made a bye. You called
- 1:08:23a Plaine Moby, your plain moby during the song that we have young Carl
- 1:08:30appearing and then disappearing. That was the payoff. That was it. Yeah,
- 1:08:33that's it. That's all a really shitty ending to this episode. I
- 1:08:39think it's just because the entire like last five minutes, I was like,
- 1:08:42this is how I would have done it. I wasn't like paid attention towards
- 1:08:44happening. But yeah, when you do pay attention, you don't get much
- 1:08:46either. No, because it ends with a whimper and not a bang.
- 1:08:49Yeah that is right, which I think is what as you always say,
- 1:08:51if you leave with the bang, even the episode, if it's shit,
- 1:08:55you feel different about it. Stick the landing. Yeah, you usually walk
- 1:08:58out pretty happy with this. This was just kind of like a yeah,
- 1:09:01wet fart. What do we learn, Bomber, Did you learn anything from
- 1:09:05this episode with the Davis don't leave your muffins out in the rain? Apparently?
- 1:09:10Yeah? Have you ever done that? I was trying to visualize.
- 1:09:12I'm like, would that happened? I guess so well. I mean I
- 1:09:15think any pastry left out in the rain is probably not gonna it's gonna come
- 1:09:18off worse for wear. Are you a muffin man? I do know the
- 1:09:21muffin. I always get disappointed when I have a muffin on. I look
- 1:09:26at it, I'm like, that's a big muffin, and it's like,
- 1:09:28oh, it's just the top, that's big, you know what, they're
- 1:09:30like massive? You eat the top and you're like, oh, it's just
- 1:09:32a regular's age murfin. That's true. Yeah, I'm trying to think of
- 1:09:36like the pastry. I mean, I'm probably more a donut guy than a
- 1:09:40than a muffin guy. I do. I found these croissants at a place
- 1:09:45in Geelong. I have to drive across town to get one, but of
- 1:09:47a Saturday, more than forty five minutes away from the Royal Marble Showground,
- 1:09:55I'll never live that down. And justifiably, it was like there was a
- 1:09:59place I used to go that was close by, and it's like, oh,
- 1:10:01it's not just an almond croissant, it's got pistachio in it. I
- 1:10:04love it. FA's And then they discontinued that. I'm like, oh,
- 1:10:08goddamn, I think you may have mentioned because it was it on Madre not
- 1:10:13far from here. Yeah. Yeah, but they don't do them anymore.
- 1:10:15Ask why there's a lack of lack of popular demand. I'm like, much
- 1:10:19like me on the podcast. So yeah, they just stopped making them.
- 1:10:25But then went to this other place in Belmont High Street. Lou and I
- 1:10:28went there for a coffee one morning and it's like, is that that there
- 1:10:32has that got pistachie on it? Yes, and raspberry. I'm like,
- 1:10:39I'll take six. So every once in a while. How much is popular
- 1:10:43demand? Oh? Cool? Yeah? Putting on various? Do you have
- 1:10:50the guys at you tell how old I am? I actually hung up the
- 1:10:59phone as I got a fucking landline. I mean he still does have a
- 1:11:04landline, right, I don't have a landline and I haven't had one living
- 1:11:09in this house. You have to have one, though, an actual phone
- 1:11:12number to connect to the internet. So You've still got a home phone number,
- 1:11:15but just to have a phone that's correct. I was like, is
- 1:11:16anyone actually calling landlines anymore? I mean a lot of peopleho still have landline,
- 1:11:21Margaret Mary, Yeah, my Nan needs to sell up the landline.
- 1:11:24That's the last time I actually went down and passed away. It sounds more
- 1:11:27but I know. But like, I just took a photo of NaN's focus.
- 1:11:30She has everyone's on There was a speed dial on the phone and she'd
- 1:11:31written down everyone's name on the spell. I'm like, I'm gonna take a
- 1:11:34photo of this because I'm just like, this is just a nice memory of
- 1:11:38Nan. It really is. Yeah, And honestly, in the eighties and
- 1:11:42maybe even in the nine as you thought that speed doll thing was just the
- 1:11:44coolest thing that it was. Though I don't have to pench in all seven
- 1:11:48numbers. I just have the prins word. Yeah, it's pretty neat.
- 1:11:53What did you learn from this episode? I didn't learn anything, but as
- 1:11:59a better way to end this, what I did learn is that we got
- 1:12:01a question that, when unanswered, that I really want to know the answer
- 1:12:03to does super clean? Does it just claim? Does it scrub? We
- 1:12:08never found out we never found out. No, does it actually scrub?
- 1:12:11That is the question I want answered. Get your buddy Matts want on.
- 1:12:13Yeah, Matt, I told you not to Cale see that this are a
- 1:12:18cool bill ugly and he's gonna want to talk about burgers. From a forward,
- 1:12:21your names will be all right. It is the Guy Davis New Name
- 1:12:27Championship. The current leaderboard stands at this mister Davis. In first position,
- 1:12:30we have Philip Jay Hawkins on thirteen points. In second position we have Kyle
- 1:12:34muldoon and Luke McKay on eleven points. And in third position we have Heath
- 1:12:38Applebee and Justin Williams on six. Take it away? What a race?
- 1:12:41Okay? One point goes to Homer Simpson. This isn't your life? Oh
- 1:12:45that is Luke McKay, which means that he is now outright second on twelve
- 1:12:50points. I want Luke. Currently, let's see what happens when we give
- 1:12:55two points to Ope you menory now ooh, so this is our main man
- 1:13:00from the mailbag, Andrew JP, Andrew Jpe. We're crossing the streams here.
- 1:13:05He's crossing over the into the new name segment. Now, holy shit,
- 1:13:09he's coming. He's coming for you. Wow, he's coming for it
- 1:13:14all. Yes, So that's his first points on the new name Lidleboard.
- 1:13:17So Andrew JP had two points, what so wild couting out, Well done
- 1:13:21mate, but three points goes to life as we don't it man. I
- 1:13:28feel like this guy's just he's cracked the matrix. He just knows how to
- 1:13:30do it. It's Philip J. Hawgans the Hawk, he just knows what
- 1:13:33to do. He's like, how can I we do into the title?
- 1:13:39I'd like to think that I've shaken it up a bit and we're not giving
- 1:13:42you know, dough titles their props all the time, but this time around
- 1:13:46it earned it and well it was our man, Philip J. He's now
- 1:13:50outright first on sixteen points and Luke McKay second on twelve. So's four points
- 1:13:55clear. Now there's still like nine episodes left, that is correct, We've
- 1:13:58got a little way to go, YEA plenty plenty of how many three twenty
- 1:14:00seven points worth of three pointers out there? So Luke mcain get to working.
- 1:14:03I mean, I mean Carl and everyone else. Yeah, carlm Oldun's
- 1:14:06on eleven points in third position. I mean that would be in justin Williams
- 1:14:10both on six and fourth. That's only ten points behind. He can easily
- 1:14:12catch up to him. We've got a lot of time up as sleeve.
- 1:14:15We've got a lot of new names to, you know, add to the
- 1:14:17leaderboard. Yes, so put your thinking caps on and folks, all he
- 1:14:21has to do is get three points for the next like ten weeks or nine
- 1:14:24weeks, and you're going to win. That's not impossible happen. It's not
- 1:14:32impossible. It's just really improbable. Bail is here, all right, mail
- 1:14:41bag for Springfield up. All right, So first question comes from Andrew JP.
- 1:14:46What Andrew JP says? Didn't we just hear from that guy? What's
- 1:14:49your favorite Monty Python sketch? His is for Yorkshireman? Never seen him?
- 1:14:54Yeah, I've seen which is the one that has John Clears getting chopped up
- 1:14:58as the like the guy and armor. Oh the holy Grail, Holy Grass.
- 1:15:03I've seen that one a long time ago and I was like, yeah,
- 1:15:05because there's the shows. Yeah, there's the episodes of the TV giant
- 1:15:09foot that comes down and squashed and sit like that. Yeah. I never
- 1:15:13got it when I was younger, and I just haven't made the effort to
- 1:15:15go back and revisit it. I was like, this is what everyone's going
- 1:15:17on about. Yeah, I think it appears to a certain type of humor,
- 1:15:23a certain type of person out a certain type of age as well,
- 1:15:25and that I was like thirteen fourteen, Yeah, and it becomes your your
- 1:15:28touchstone for humor. And I mean, I've got friends who are really into
- 1:15:31Yeah. I think it happens with the English English humor a lot. It's
- 1:15:34very sort of distinctive. I've got friend who are really into the Goodies.
- 1:15:38I'm like, I just can't get it. It's not my thing, and
- 1:15:41the Goonies not. It's either a Goodies person or a Goonies person. I
- 1:15:45think I respect Montypath more than I enjoyed that. Having said that, there's
- 1:15:48a sketch that they did where I think you've got a bunch of people sort
- 1:15:53of talking about how tough their childhoods were, and the stories are just getting
- 1:15:57more and more outlandish. And I had Mars in the snow, no shoes
- 1:16:01with my hands cut off and all the kind of stuff, and it see,
- 1:16:03it's getting more and more adiction because that's just what your dad's are like,
- 1:16:05you know very much what Barefoot across six paddocks covered in snow and you're
- 1:16:11like, no, you didn't. So it's got that foundation reality, which
- 1:16:13I really enjoyed. But and there was one, isn't it oneas someone's a
- 1:16:16name Dick something. It could I'm either cock or Dick or something as a
- 1:16:23Munti python sketch. I can't remember. It sounds very Munti path and that.
- 1:16:27But the movies I enjoy a bit more. Monty Path on Holy Grail
- 1:16:30is actually pretty funny. But yeah, I think it also attracts a type
- 1:16:33of person who, yeah, much like the sentence or any sort of any
- 1:16:38comedy that really makes an impact. A lot of the gags become part of
- 1:16:42your own vocabulary and they could have become shorthand. But occasionally we'll find someone
- 1:16:45who's just like, the biggest dikest is the one, oh that's from yeah,
- 1:16:49from Life of Brian. Yeah, that's right. You know that a
- 1:16:54lot of it's pretty not basic humor, but it's like, you know,
- 1:16:57it's funny walks and funny voices and all that kind of stuff. Which it
- 1:17:00was a wattle. It was a wattle when Yeah, But I like that
- 1:17:04one from Money Bython, and I like the movies. I mean, The
- 1:17:06Men of Your Life is a good one, and Holy Grail is pretty good
- 1:17:10too. Fergus Jeff says, technically The Four Yorkshiremen was performed by John Clice,
- 1:17:14Garrett Graham, Chapman and others on a TV show preceding Monty Python's existence.
- 1:17:17But I will say that's one of my favorites too. Hey, there
- 1:17:19we go. I'm saying you're wrong, Andrew JP, but you're fucking wrong.
- 1:17:24Fergus Jeff says, you can't get a point in the new Name challenge
- 1:17:28and be right in the mail bag entry. Come on, man, this
- 1:17:30is one for you. Do you have a favorite documentarian? His is Louis
- 1:17:35Therow Louis Yeah. And Alex Gibney. Alex Gibney is very good. Yeah,
- 1:17:41he's a recent guy. You'll see his name and a lot of doc
- 1:17:43os. Yeah. I like Louis threw a lot. Can I put on
- 1:17:47your hard hats. I'm got to drop a name. It's a name,
- 1:17:49that's Aora. The giant feed are coming down. I think I wrote this
- 1:17:55on Facebook at the time I finished the interview. We were talking about interviews
- 1:17:59before. But I've finished the interview and instaly got onto Facebook and I said,
- 1:18:02it's always nice when an interview subject says they've never been asked that question
- 1:18:06before. It was great, that doesn't it. Oh yeah, it's even
- 1:18:09better when it's Louis th U. I love when they say that's a good
- 1:18:14question and you know they mean it. You can tell, you really can't
- 1:18:16tell, because yeah, I mean I've interviewed enough people say that's a good
- 1:18:19questions like you're killing time to come up with the answer, but you can
- 1:18:24tell. It's like, that's that's good, that's a good question. I'm
- 1:18:27gon'n anked that before, or I haven't you folded that into the line of
- 1:18:30questioning. Really well, it's good, isn't it. Yeah. I used
- 1:18:33to strive on getting them. I'll be like every interagram, I want to
- 1:18:36try and get them with either like a piece of knowledge that it's like how
- 1:18:39the fuck do you know that? Or and time they're impressed by the other
- 1:18:43time they're just like, how the fuck do you know that? Yeah?
- 1:18:46I mean, well, like we were saying earlier, you know, when
- 1:18:49i'd have interviewing someone that i'd respect or whatever, it was always nice.
- 1:18:53It's just throwing a bit like you know, I've seen that movie that you
- 1:18:56know, not many people liked on not many people someone, I actually thought
- 1:18:59it was pretty good. I mean I would never lie about that, but
- 1:19:02it was always good to sort of throw in, yeah, i've seen you
- 1:19:05work well. When I was on k Rock, It's one of the reasons
- 1:19:09I was to get really frustrated because I took it so seriously my interviews,
- 1:19:12right, not because I was trying to be like a serious interview, but
- 1:19:15it's like people who I be on there with then ask questions like, oh,
- 1:19:18so you got a new album coming and tell us all about it.
- 1:19:19I'm like, that's sort of a question. That's just you doing fucking no
- 1:19:23work and just get expecting them to do all the work for you. You
- 1:19:25might as well just read the pressure. Yeah. My theory was I lose
- 1:19:29by the motto of having said that, I mean, you have to do
- 1:19:31one or two of those questions. I think, No, you have to
- 1:19:34take into a people. My motto is, never ask a question you already
- 1:19:39know the answer to, because you're going to get a response that people have
- 1:19:42already heard a million times before. Right. So what I would do is
- 1:19:45I would listen to and read previous interviews by this person, and I would
- 1:19:48look at what they've answered, work that answer into the question, and then
- 1:19:53base a new question off of the answer I've already given. That's a good
- 1:19:55way as long as you can get get the basic info out that. Yeah,
- 1:19:58you've got to get the information there, but of magnif you can add
- 1:20:00stuff on top of that, yeah, yeah, you've done you You've done
- 1:20:02your job, because what you're doing then is you're informing the listener of ship
- 1:20:06that they might need to know an actual answer in the past and information,
- 1:20:11but also asking the interviewee a question they might never been asked before. They
- 1:20:14haven't been asked before, and they're going to get a new answer. Listen
- 1:20:15is gonna get a new answer they've never heard before. You've got to give
- 1:20:17them point a and then point a plus one. Yeah, but you said
- 1:20:21when you made this album that you really didn't like track three because of this,
- 1:20:26and then basically new questions of that. Don't just say so you didn't
- 1:20:29like track three and then have them say why again, like exam, I
- 1:20:31just I just used to ship me. I'm like, Oh, you're fucking
- 1:20:33lazy. Why are you taking so serious? I'm like, because I'm because
- 1:20:40I care. Yeah, I don't want to be sitting here in twenty years
- 1:20:43doing the same ship like you're going to be. Oh yeah, absolutely no.
- 1:20:46That was something I always too, Yeah, extremely seriously when I was
- 1:20:50when I was the interviewing people. Anyway, it's great to get that.
- 1:20:55Yeah, that's a good question, kind of a kind of feedback. Yeah.
- 1:20:58So I think those are both very good, very good documentarians, And
- 1:21:03I'm trying to think, Oh, I would add to the add of the
- 1:21:05equation. There's a guy called Frederick Wiseman who's been around forever and done a
- 1:21:11whole bunch of stuff on a whole bunch of topics, really sort of mundane
- 1:21:15stuff, but it always sort of digs between the service in a really subtle
- 1:21:19way, And like, I'm really learning a lot about door to door salesman
- 1:21:23and what would actually be like to be a door to door salesman in the
- 1:21:26in the nineteen seventies in America. It sounds mundane, but yeah, it's
- 1:21:30often really kind of fascinating. Andrew Kelly says, if you could give some
- 1:21:34advice to a younger version of yourself outside of investing in X y Z,
- 1:21:38what would it be. Oh, it's always invested. I would say I
- 1:21:44say this to Aliott a lot. Now, I'm like, when you go
- 1:21:46to school, mate, enjoy school because there's going to be times of school
- 1:21:49where you're not liking and you think it you want to because he always says
- 1:21:51I want to be old. I'm like, enjoy being a kid. Enjoy
- 1:21:55having no responsibilities. That's what I would say. I'm like, just embrace
- 1:21:59everything about how good your life is right now. Great. Not everyone has
- 1:22:01a great childhood, but Elliott's going it pretty good. Right. It's just
- 1:22:04like, you have no responsibilities. Just fucking enjoy yourself because when you get
- 1:22:08older, you're going to look upter shit yourself and it's nowhere near as fun.
- 1:22:11That's a very very good point. Something I would say to younger guy
- 1:22:16was this may sound awfully wanky. You're cooler than you think you are.
- 1:22:21Yeah, yeah, I was riddled with self doubt. I still am.
- 1:22:26Yeah, I'm finding that I'm I'm finding it less and less. I think
- 1:22:33I'm done. Really, I don't have a lot of time left, so
- 1:22:35you know, why be an idiot. You've got a good lady by your
- 1:22:40side. Now, well, that's correct, I mean everything's coming up guard
- 1:22:44really why have you got to complain about it? Greatly? By your side,
- 1:22:45you know, you're doing what you enjoy when it comes to like you
- 1:22:47said editing, but you' also podcasting for a living complain Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:53But when I was a kid, it was very kind of uptight about
- 1:22:56so many things. And yeah, I'll run into people to worry about it.
- 1:23:01You shouldn't have to worry about it. Absolutely absolutely, I'll run into
- 1:23:04people from there and say, oh, you were so good. I'm like,
- 1:23:08really, well. One thing I'll say to me, why didn't we
- 1:23:10make out? Then? Yeah, that's true. One thing I'll say to
- 1:23:13my kids when they're in high school, right, I'll say to them,
- 1:23:15Look, as long as you get in getting by and you're still learning,
- 1:23:18you're not disrupting the class. I don't give a fuck, right, Like,
- 1:23:20just try, but don't stress if you don't get a great score if
- 1:23:24you try it, because nothing fucking matters until like year twelve, you know,
- 1:23:27like if you fail an examine your nine, it doesn't matter, you
- 1:23:30know what I mean? Like, and I used to get stress out about
- 1:23:31oh I've got to get an A and it's like, why did I let
- 1:23:34myself get consumed by this and none of it mattered, you know. Yeah,
- 1:23:38I mean you've got to understand what matters exactly. Just just work out
- 1:23:43like what's going to get you buy and then just as long as you're trying,
- 1:23:45right, you know what I mean, like put in the effort,
- 1:23:46don't fuck about try and just enjoy yourself. Yeah. Absolutely. This one
- 1:23:51here is from Kirsty Hodgkinson. She says, what would younger dan to a
- 1:23:55guy think about being podcasts? I mean, younger Dante. If you told
- 1:23:59eight year old and hey, you're going to earn a living by talking about
- 1:24:00the Simpsons, I'm like, I have found my dream job. No,
- 1:24:05oh, look it's pretty neat. I mean there's actually a video of me
- 1:24:10on a home video somewhere in this house coming I think's in the garage of
- 1:24:14someone saying to me, what are gonna be when you're old? I'm like,
- 1:24:15I'm going to find a way to make money from the Simpsons? And
- 1:24:18I fucking did. I don't know it. Yeah, I've mentioned this on
- 1:24:23the on the show in the past, but I mean, you know,
- 1:24:25when I was about ten years old, my mate JP would sort of make
- 1:24:30radio show you said this, Yeah, you don't have him anymore. Nah,
- 1:24:33Yeah, the tape of me somewhere when I was four doing it.
- 1:24:36Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I mean one of the other things,
- 1:24:39and I'm sure I've talked about this. In grade five, I had this
- 1:24:43teacher, mister Davies. He was a preck. I did not like that
- 1:24:45guy, and he did not like either. One. I said, you're
- 1:24:47going to mount to nothing. No, no one ever said I. Man
- 1:24:49wouldn't amount nothing except me. But one thing he did that was very valid
- 1:24:57and very worthwhile. On a Friday afternoon, after lunch we wouldn't have classes
- 1:25:02so much, he would do this thing called Radio five GS. We were
- 1:25:04in grade five at the time, and it was basically we would have put
- 1:25:08together a radio show. I don't think we'd record it or anything like that,
- 1:25:11but you know, just do it. Yeah. We're like, Okay,
- 1:25:13you're the announcer, lead us into the news. What else are we
- 1:25:16going to have in this? You know, what's this hour long block of
- 1:25:20recording. We're gonna have news? What else are we gonna have? We're
- 1:25:24gonna have reviews, We're going to have interviews with farafor said, yeah,
- 1:25:28what are we going to have? And yeah, me being a little ham
- 1:25:31I was like, I'll be the ideas. Yeah, you know, and
- 1:25:34I was the one who sort was driving. I was the host, and
- 1:25:38I really really enjoyed it. And I mean, I'm always yeah, I
- 1:25:41haven't done a lot of radio in my life. I've done a bit,
- 1:25:44but there's a lot. There's a fairly sort of Hammy show busy streak in
- 1:25:47the Davison and Rossa that's my mother's maiden name. Good dad was a born
- 1:25:50show man, wasn't he. He was a big old ham Bobby Davis,
- 1:25:55God bless him. And yeah, to be able to I don't want to
- 1:25:59get too emotional, but to be able to do this with you on the
- 1:26:02regular, to have people listening to it and seemingly enjoying, that's the thing.
- 1:26:08When people say how much I enjoy it's like, oh shit, this
- 1:26:10actually means something. It's it's an absolute privilege, it's an absolute honor.
- 1:26:14I mean, I'm I'm I can't thank you enough for bringing me into this.
- 1:26:16We were bombarded with emails. I'm probably twelve. It's a lot of
- 1:26:21people saying, can go come back to the South type podcast next week?
- 1:26:25Is No, I've got to get my teeth done. There going away.
- 1:26:31People just love it. I mean, you've been around here now nearly as
- 1:26:33long as Mitch has. Oh my god, because Mitch was me left in
- 1:26:36tweent so he wasn't out for five years. You started this in tweeny,
- 1:26:40so you're better year off. Okay. Yeah, so it's almost like we've
- 1:26:43well, hopefully you know, one more year. We don't new Man,
- 1:26:47don't bring me yokos into that situation. But no, I'm seriously, I
- 1:26:53mean, this is this is something that I really really enjoy doing, something
- 1:26:58that I think I would have wanted to do, yeah, all my life.
- 1:27:00And no, it's just an honor to be part of it. Man.
- 1:27:03It's just funny how the universe just worked extu us Like Mitche was getting
- 1:27:05sick of doing the show and then you just rocked up a popcort and you're
- 1:27:09like, Hi, I'm gay David. I know everything about movies and television.
- 1:27:13That's like, hm, why is he talking about Trey Parker. That's
- 1:27:16right, Tom, That's just think they could have sat me next to Roland,
- 1:27:21Yeah, which would have been nice as well. Yes, but it's
- 1:27:28all worked out. Indeed. Yeah, he shot out to Roland. I
- 1:27:30hope you're listening. Yes, share to Rolling. We even give shares to
- 1:27:33Rolling in like the Friends podcasts. Nicola loves him as well. We didn't
- 1:27:36get rolled on the podcast. We really do do it. Let's make it
- 1:27:40happen. Let's make it happen. Yeah, it could be like a very
- 1:27:42special Christmas episode or something. Why not. Yeah, we imagine listeners out
- 1:27:46there that you will fall in love with Roland just as just as we have.
- 1:27:49He will be the next host. You'll get rid of me, Dead
- 1:27:54may Own Green be the guy in Roland Show. Final question, Harrison mcclul
- 1:27:58did you ever see someone you knew from high school going to go on to
- 1:28:00turn out completely different to what you were expecting them to do? So going
- 1:28:03from a loser to a big success or going from gifted bride to having a
- 1:28:06down for et cetera. Umm m, I'm just trying to think. I
- 1:28:12don't really know. I was thinking about this the other day. I really
- 1:28:14know many people from who went to high school with I tried to find some
- 1:28:17recently and I'm like there was, actually there was one person the other day
- 1:28:21I sent to Nicol. I'm like, this chick here was like the chick
- 1:28:25everyone wanted to be with. You know, she was like the hot one.
- 1:28:28You know, everyone just want to be want to be her boyfriend,
- 1:28:30blah blah blah, and like year nine, year ten, and then shot
- 1:28:32moved schools and everyone's like, oh, wonder what happened to And I looked
- 1:28:34it up and I'm like, oh, oh my, in what way?
- 1:28:42I mean did we? And no, in just a conspiracy theorist incredibly obese
- 1:28:49okay changes the profile three times a day on Facebook. Just I was like,
- 1:28:55Wow, you were like the it girl. I knew someone like that.
- 1:29:00It's a story I was too sad to tell. So I don't know
- 1:29:01if I'm it really is actually, so I won't go I won't go too
- 1:29:06deep into it. But yes, I mean, look, I think the
- 1:29:09bulk of the people that I knew and hung around with in high school,
- 1:29:14I would say that we've changed that none of us have changed all that much.
- 1:29:16I mean, of course we've changed, because you know, we've got
- 1:29:18plenty of miles on the meter. But I haven't seen too many radical one
- 1:29:23to eighty degree shifts. I mean, people change, but they not that
- 1:29:29many changed that radically, to the best of my knowledge, last of my
- 1:29:31experience. Shall we say I was. I felt pretty good about myself recently.
- 1:29:34I went to a Woolworths around here, and when I wasn't, I
- 1:29:39dropped out of UNI right because I started working at Ford and I sorted I
- 1:29:42dropped out of Union. I was like, I'm going to get a full
- 1:29:43time job, just work right. I wasn't enjoying Union. I was just
- 1:29:45like, it's a waste of time and money. And then I remember when
- 1:29:47I did it. There was this guy that made fun of me for dropping
- 1:29:50out. Oh yeah, the drop out. You saw me out in towns
- 1:29:53like, oh it's the dropout a yeah, and everyone's like, you're forging
- 1:29:55to drop out? What a prick. I saw this guy and it was
- 1:29:59stuck in shells at fucking wool Worst, and I was like, fuck you.
- 1:30:04We are not here to disparage on its labor. Of course, if
- 1:30:08you're going to be a dick. Yes it was. It was me going
- 1:30:10back and beating up the bully. You're Superman Superman too, but yeah,
- 1:30:16if you're gonna play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. That's why I
- 1:30:19always loved the end of never Inenning story where he's like there's a falco the
- 1:30:23big dog thing that he was sitting on that used to fly around with because
- 1:30:26you get bullied a lot. The Sebastian kid and he's like, focus,
- 1:30:28what do you want to do? Is like let's go back and get those
- 1:30:30bullies like like scared to share these bullies and stuff. And I'm like,
- 1:30:33something was really good about the eighties, you know, you'd have that where
- 1:30:38it was okay for bullies to get the come up with this even though there
- 1:30:40were kids is like fucking kids, Yeah, whereas these days it's kind of
- 1:30:43like, how about some reconciliation. Yeah, how about we know, how
- 1:30:45about we work it out? I mediations Like, no, that bully needs
- 1:30:48to get his fucking ass kid. Oh good times. All right, all
- 1:30:55right, that's the end of Springfield Up. I hope you guys enjoyed our
- 1:30:58review. We're gonna came up to an hour, but we were going to
- 1:31:00try and keep this said before and yeah, we sort of started getting emotional
- 1:31:04and reminiscent, and this weepens when you start the podcast at the forty five
- 1:31:06minute mark. That is the shortestod of The Simpsons, the longest episode of
- 1:31:13four Fingered disc gap. All right, next episode of the Simpsons is yocal
- 1:31:15Cords, and I started watching it last night. Now apparently it's Lisa trying
- 1:31:19to teach the Sparkler children, right. I watched like the first like ten
- 1:31:24minutes of it, and I was like, Okay, this feels like a
- 1:31:26more the proper episode of The Simpsons. So I enjoyed the first ten minutes
- 1:31:30more than I enjoyed this episode, maybe because I was tired. I'm not
- 1:31:31too sure, but I didn't really get to the clearest part yet. So
- 1:31:35we'll be back in next week to yes, talk all things Spuckler. But
- 1:31:41by the way, guys, was going to be doing another Christmas show coming
- 1:31:44up in a couple of weeks as well, close at Christmas time, so
- 1:31:45we won't be I'm gonna get a schedule. We hang on one second,
- 1:31:48Yes, Dando has sort of threatened me. I'm back at the schedule.
- 1:31:53Half of these have already recorded, so it's all good, guys, like
- 1:31:55that looks like a lot of recording like it won't be and a lot of
- 1:31:58them with Nicola. So here we're going to be doing the yokal one and
- 1:32:01after the Yokeal Cords episode is going to be the Christmas special. Okay,
- 1:32:05So if you want to get the Christmas Special actually on Christmas on twenty first

- 1:32:15Christmas, support us on patriar give yourself a little gift. Yeah, you
- 1:32:20can already be hearing our review of Yoko Chords. You'll find out whether I
- 1:32:23actually enjoyed it or not. Chances are we will. Yes, you can
- 1:32:26get the show a week early and ad freet like those ads. You just
- 1:32:29go to supporter us on Patreon. How do you like their mats and those

- 1:32:36four Finger Discount will be Yocal Cords. I've got some plans for us in
- 1:32:40twenty twenty four regarding to this show, Oh my gosh. And basically it
- 1:32:43means we're going to be going back to the Golden You're at least once a
- 1:32:45month. Sounds good, sounds good. Let's do that. Let's do that.
- 1:32:49Indeed, all right, guys, thanks again for all of you support.
- 1:32:51Mister Tod has any final words for those incredible listeners out there. Listeners,
- 1:32:55I am after work on the first draft of Pontiff No Return
