- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 26! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? And today we're going to talk about something you see every single day. Luna: Ooh, what is it? Lucas: Furniture! Let's learn three common pieces of furniture in German. Luna: Good idea. I spend a lot of time at my desk — or on my couch. Lucas: We'll start simple. The first word is 'der Tisch'. Luna: Der Tisch. Lucas: That means 'table'. Let's say it together: der Tisch. Luna: Der Tisch. Lucas: Perfect. And you might remember from our food episode — 'Ich möchte Brot.' Well, you can say 'Das Brot ist auf dem Tisch.' — The bread is on the table. Luna: Das Brot ist auf dem Tisch. Nice, I can use that. Lucas: Exactly. Now the second word: 'der Stuhl'. Luna: Der Stuhl. That sounds like 'stool' in English! Lucas: Close! It means 'chair'. So 'der Stuhl'. Luna: Der Stuhl. Der Stuhl. Lucas: Great. Imagine you're in a café. You might say 'Ein Stuhl, bitte.' — One chair, please. Luna: Ein Stuhl, bitte. Lucas: Exactly. Now the last one: 'das Bett'. Luna: Das Bett. That one is easy — it sounds like 'bed'. Lucas: Right. 'Das Bett' means 'the bed'. So 'Ich habe ein Bett.' — I have a bed. Luna: Ich habe ein Bett. I have a bed. Lucas: And you could say 'Mein Bett ist bequem.' — My bed is comfortable. Luna: Mein Bett ist bequem. That's a good one for mornings. Lucas: Exactly. Let's do a quick review. Say each one after me. Luna: Ready. Lucas: Der Tisch. Luna: Der Tisch. Lucas: Der Stuhl. Luna: Der Stuhl. Lucas: Das Bett. Luna: Das Bett. Lucas: Awesome. Now let's put them in a little story. Luna: I love stories. Lucas: Okay. Imagine you walk into your room. You see a table, a chair, and a bed. Luna: Okay. Lucas: You can say: 'Im Zimmer ist ein Tisch, ein Stuhl und ein Bett.' Luna: Im Zimmer ist ein Tisch, ein Stuhl und ein Bett. That works! Lucas: And if you want to say where something is, you can use 'auf' for on. For example: 'Das Buch ist auf dem Tisch.' Luna: Das Buch ist auf dem Tisch. The book is on the table. Lucas: Perfect. Or 'Die Katze ist auf dem Stuhl.' — The cat is on the chair. Luna: Die Katze ist auf dem Stuhl. That's cute. Lucas: And 'Ich liege im Bett.' — I lie in bed. Luna: Ich liege im Bett. Oh, that's relaxing. Lucas: Let's practice one more time with all three. Repeat after me. Luna: Sure. Lucas: Der Tisch. Luna: Der Tisch. Lucas: Der Stuhl. Luna: Der Stuhl. Lucas: Das Bett. Luna: Das Bett. Lucas: And now you can say: 'Ich habe einen Tisch, einen Stuhl und ein Bett.' Luna: Ich habe einen Tisch, einen Stuhl und ein Bett. Lucas: There you go! You just described your furniture in German. Luna: That feels good. I can actually say something useful. Lucas: Exactly. That's the whole point. Now, before we go, let's say them one last time. Luna: Alright. Lucas: Der Tisch. Luna: Der Tisch. Lucas: Der Stuhl. Luna: Der Stuhl. Lucas: Das Bett. Luna: Das Bett. Lucas: Great job today! Thanks for listening to Learn German with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time! Tschüss! Lucas: Tschüss!
