  If you're enjoying walking through a whole book of the

  Bible together. But today we're going to be in
• 0:48
  verses 3 through 5. So we're going to hop into the
• 0:51
  next chunk. In this next chunk in verse 3
• 0:54
  begins like this. God created everything through
• 0:58
  Him and nothing was created except through Him.
• 1:02
  Him is Jesus. And in verse 4 it says the word,
• 1:06
  which we learned about last week is Jesus.
• 1:08
  The Word gave life to everything that was created and His life
• 1:14
  brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness
• 1:19
  and the darkness can never extinguish it.
• 1:22
  If you guys don't remember, I'm reading through NLT and I love
• 1:26
  the way NLT words that in verse 5 the light shines in the
• 1:30
  darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.
• 1:34
  This is incredible. We go from John beginning his
• 1:39
  gospel with this strong biblical stance that he is making a
• 1:44
  statement with this doctrine of truth that in the beginning was
• 1:48
  the Word, the word was with God, and the Word was God.
• 1:52
  And we learned about the word being Jesus, that Jesus is God.
• 1:56
  But now John goes on to say that God created everything through
• 2:01
  Jesus and nothing was created except through him.
• 2:05
  Again, what Paul speaks on in first Corinthians chapter one,
• 2:08
  verse 16, that everything was created through Jesus and for
• 2:14
  Jesus, that Jesus always was there, that he was involved in
• 2:19
  the creation process. But what's also powerful is that
• 2:23
  listen to that language. Remember that Jesus is the Word,
• 2:28
  but the Word was with God, and the Word was also God, the three
• 2:32
  in one, the Trinity. That Jesus has his own distinct
• 2:36
  person within the Trinity, but he's also God as we read even in
• 2:40
  Genesis 11 when it says that God created all things.
• 2:44
  But listen to what John is saying, that Christ is said to
• 2:49
  have created all things, that everything was created for him
• 2:53
  and through him. Just that same truth that we
• 2:57
  read in the Gospels and we'll read later on in chapter 17 in
• 3:01
  the Gospel of John, that Jesus and the Father are one, that
• 3:06
  Jesus is God. John is trying to make a point
• 3:10
  over and over again to us that Jesus was not just a man, that
• 3:14
  he was not just this prophet. Jesus was God, God and flesh,
• 3:18
  Emmanuel, God with us. And so he starts off again
• 3:22
  saying now everything that was created was created through
• 3:25
  Jesus and for Jesus that nothing was created except through him.
• 3:30
  That the word Jesus gave life to everything that was created.
• 3:36
  You and I as created beings, we were created by Jesus, that he
• 3:42
  gives us life. But think about this in the
• 3:46
  physical sense. If you're breathing right now
• 3:48
  while listening to this, Jesus gave you life.
• 3:51
  He gave you those breaths in your lungs.
• 3:52
  He gave you the life that you live.
• 3:55
  But spiritual life can only be found through faith in Jesus.
• 4:00
  So all of us who are breathing right now have physical life
• 4:04
  that God's grace has given all of us life.
• 4:06
  Breath in our lungs. The the ability to breathe, the
• 4:09
  ability to live for our heart to be pumping in the blood, to be
• 4:12
  flowing, to be alive. Today, if you woke up, thank
• 4:16
  Jesus that you are alive. But if you have not put your
• 4:20
  faith in Jesus, if people have not put their faith in Jesus,
• 4:23
  they are spiritually dead. And Paul speaks about this, that
• 4:27
  there's only two options for us. That if you haven't put your
• 4:31
  faith in Jesus, you are still dead in your sins.
• 4:35
  That you are spiritually dead. You might be physically
• 4:37
  breathing, you might be physically going about your day,
• 4:40
  but spiritually you are dead. That you are on a path that
• 4:43
  leads to hell, separation from God forever.
• 4:46
  That while we're on this earth, you are breathing by the grace
• 4:50
  of God. You are breathing because Jesus
• 4:52
  created you. You have physical life because
• 4:54
  of Christ. But if you have not put your
• 4:57
  faith in Jesus, you do not have spiritual life, eternal life.
• 5:01
  That we learned about this eternal God, That his name is
• 5:04
  Jesus. That he always was and always
• 5:06
  will be. That in the beginning he was
• 5:09
  there. That right now he's here.
• 5:11
  That he will be there in the future.
• 5:13
  Jesus always is. He is, I am and so now we John
• 5:18
  goes a little further and says God that God created everything
• 5:22
  through Jesus, that Jesus gave life to everything that was
• 5:25
  created. You and I have life because of
• 5:28
  Jesus and his life brought light to everyone.
• 5:31
  This is why John 14-6 my favorite verse says Jesus
• 5:34
  answered I am the way I am the truth and I am the life.
• 5:40
  No one can come to the Father except through me.
• 5:44
  Life can only be found in Jesus. And you know what the life is
• 5:48
  that Jesus gives to us? A full life.
• 5:51
  John 1010 the thief, Satan only comes to steal, kill and destroy
• 5:56
  us. But Jesus said, I've come to
• 5:58
  give life to the fuller. Under other translations.
• 6:02
  I've come to give life abundantly.
• 6:04
  That life, eternal life, salvation.
• 6:09
  Your soul cannot be saved through anybody or anything else
• 6:13
  except through Jesus. Faith in him that Jesus gives
• 6:17
  life to all of us physically, but we can only find eternal
• 6:21
  life in Him. And His life brought light to
• 6:26
  everyone. Jesus is literally the light of
• 6:28
  God. Now when Jesus touched down on
• 6:31
  earth, his light shines so bright that the darkness can't
• 6:36
  even be around demons and Satan. If you ever I love in the
• 6:40
  gospels and we'll be reading about some of these stories.
• 6:43
  I love that when Jesus walks into spaces and places, the
• 6:45
  demons are like, what do you want?
• 6:48
  Like, why are you here? They're so stressed out, you
• 6:52
  know, they're tripping because it's like they know that God
• 6:55
  just touched down in flesh that Jesus is walking in.
• 6:58
  They know who he is, as it says, even the demons believe and they
• 7:01
  shudder and the demons see Jesus and it's like, why are you here
• 7:05
  son of man? Why have you come?
• 7:07
  Why are you here? They know who he is.
• 7:09
  Those those angels, fallen angels that were once in heaven
• 7:13
  that were casted down, that Satan was casted down like
• 7:15
  lightning. And now when these demons see
• 7:18
  Jesus, they are stressed out. They're tripping because they're
• 7:21
  like, why are you here? That Jesus is the light of God.
• 7:24
  Then when the light enters into the darkness, the darkness will
• 7:28
  never whenever. The darkness can never
• 7:31
  extinguish the light. And if you've put your faith in
• 7:34
  Jesus, the light lives inside of you.
• 7:37
  That we get to be a city on the hilltop as Jesus describes us.
• 7:40
  That when we go out into this Dark World, we get to reflect
• 7:43
  the light of God that lives in us now because of our faith in
• 7:46
  Jesus. That we can enter into dark
• 7:49
  spaces of our own lives and others lives and we can let the
• 7:53
  light of God shine through us and draw people.
• 7:56
  He can draw people through us to Him, which is pretty incredible
• 8:01
  that Jesus now dwells in US. The light of God dwells in US,
• 8:04
  and His light overflows in our lives.
• 8:06
  And when we walk into places that are filled with darkness,
• 8:10
  guess what? The darkness will never win.
• 8:12
  The darkness will flee. The demons will flee.
• 8:14
  Satan can't be around with those who are filled with the Holy
• 8:17
  Spirit who put their faith in Jesus because the darkness can
• 8:20
  never extinguish the light. And so I hope today, if you have
• 8:26
  put your faith in Jesus that you listen to this truth, that John
• 8:30
  is saying that you were created by Jesus on purpose.
• 8:34
  This wasn't just random. Jesus created you.
• 8:39
  He knew you before you were even you and nothing was created
• 8:43
  except through him. That Jesus is Alpha and Omega,
• 8:47
  that Jesus sits on the right hand throne of God, that the
• 8:50
  world is his footstool and the word Jesus gave life to
• 8:54
  everything. The breath you're breathing
• 8:56
  right now, praise Jesus right now.
• 9:01
  Thank you Jesus, thank you for the breath that I'm breathing,
• 9:06
  that life that you give to me. But if you put your faith in
• 9:09
  Jesus, you have spiritual life, eternal life, that you're filled
• 9:13
  with the Spirit of God within you.
• 9:15
  But if you're listening to this and you have not put your faith
• 9:17
  in Jesus yet, I pray that you do because life, eternal life, will
• 9:23
  not be found in anything else. You can continue to try to fill
• 9:27
  that void in your heart with temporary satisfactions, with
• 9:30
  alcohol, with drugs, with pornography, with lust, with
• 9:32
  money, with power, with fame. Whatever it is that you're
• 9:35
  pursuing in this world that is temporary, it will always come
• 9:39
  up short because this life will end and there is going to be
• 9:44
  life after this. Either.
• 9:45
  It's going to be spent in eternity with Jesus or it's
• 9:48
  going to be spent in hell, separated from him forever.
• 9:52
  And so my hope is that you find not just physical life that you
• 9:56
  have, but spiritual life, eternal life that can be found
• 10:00
  in the one who has came to this world and lived a perfect life
• 10:03
  that you could not live. He died a death that you and I
• 10:06
  deserve. And three days later he rose
• 10:08
  from the grave and he is alive and well in heaven right now.
• 10:11
  And if you put your faith in Him, He will enter your life and
• 10:14
  transform it and speak to you and lead you and lead you to a
• 10:18
  life to the full that's on this earth.
• 10:20
  That you can have hope, that you can have joy, that you can have
• 10:24
  peace beyond understanding because of faith in the one who
• 10:27
  gives you the life in the 1st place.
• 10:29
  He's the one who created you and He's the one that has purpose
• 10:32
  for you. If you continue to try to find
• 10:34
  purpose in anything or anyone else, it will continue to come
• 10:37
  up short because they in those things are not the ones that
• 10:40
  gave you life in the 1st place. And remember, wherever you are,
• 10:45
  wherever God's commissioned you, whatever workplace you're in,
• 10:48
  whatever school you're at, whatever group you're part of,
• 10:50
  whatever family you're in, if you have faith in Jesus, the
• 10:53
  light of Christ is inside of you and he will shine through you
• 10:59
  that the darkness will never extinguish the light that's
• 11:02
  inside of you. Now walk in that.
• 11:04
  Walk in that power of God that lives inside of you, That you
• 11:07
  can go into this world that is dark, that is hopeless, that is
• 11:11
  looking for purpose, and you carry the hope that they're
• 11:15
  looking for. That you can be the light of the
• 11:17
  world in a Dark World that desperately needs to know the
• 11:20
  light that lives inside of you, which is Jesus Christ.
• 11:24
  So I love you guys. I thank you so much for

  continuing through this journey of the Gospel of John with me.

  Jesus is the light of the world. And if you put your faith in
• 11:34
  him, the light of the world now lives in you.
• 11:37
  This little light of mine is inside of you, and Jesus is
• 11:42
  going to work through you if you step into those dark places and
• 11:46
  are willing to trust His light to shine.
• 11:49
  And the darkness has gotta run 'cause it will never overcome
• 11:53
  the light that lives inside of you, which is Jesus.
• 11:55
  Let me pray for y'all so we can get up out of here.
• 11:58
  Lord Jesus, I love you. God, I thank you for who you
• 12:01
  are. Jesus, thank you for giving us
• 12:04
  life, Thank you for sustaining us.
• 12:07
  Thank you for keeping us breathing, for waking us up this
• 12:09
  morning. I pray we never forget to wake
• 12:11
  up and give you praise and glory and thanks because you are the
• 12:15
  one that gives us the breath in our lungs.
• 12:16
  But God, I pray for those that have not found spiritual life in
• 12:19
  you, that have not been, that have not yet put their faith in
• 12:24
  you, God, and received that eternal life that only, that
• 12:27
  only can be found in you. Jesus, I pray for those right
• 12:29
  now for their hearts to be soft and for the veil to be lifted,
• 12:31
  for them to find faith in you. Jesus, that you draw them to
• 12:35
  you, that they become our brothers and sisters in Christ,
• 12:37
  that we get to spend eternity with them in heaven.
• 12:39
  Lord Jesus with you, I thank you God for your word.
• 12:42
  I pray that you continue to lead us to your truth, that you
• 12:44
  continue to give us bold and courageous faith to go in a Dark
• 12:48
  World and be the light of the world because you live inside of
• 12:50
  us. I love you and I pray this in
