A nine-year-old child tragically died in a crash near Beltway 8 early Saturday morning after being thrown from a pickup truck driven by a 52-year-old man, Javier Gutierrez, who allegedly was intoxicated and had the child in the front seat without a seatbelt. The collision involved a Sheriff’s patrol car, which hit a brick wall, while the pickup spun out. A deputy and mental health clinician on scene rushed to help before paramedics arrived.
